Good Monday Morning Everyone!
Quick post just to greet you all this morning and get our MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY post on bright and early.
IT'S MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY!!!! Here's my contribution for MM:
You have the potential to do many great things. Yet regardless of your potential, no matter how much you have going for you, nothing will come of it unless you take the actions necessary to make the most of your possibilities.
No matter how well prepared you are, no matter how intelligent, well- connected, or skillful you may be, the results you get depend on the actions you take. Positive thinking and positive focus will point you in the right direction. And positive, sustained effort is what will take you where you want to go.
You can see the summit, you can visualize yourself reaching it in glorious detail. Yet if you're to actually make it happen, you must get up out of your chair and start climbing the mountain. You absolutely must take that first step, and then continue until the goal is reached.
You're perfectly capable of it. You've got the potential and you have the desire. Now get up, get going, and make it happen!
Ralph S. Marston, Jr.

Anyone have any comments about the above MM thought-I thought it was a wonderful one!!!!:)
Got in my 4.5 miles this morning, no jogging, too humid, felt you could cut the air with a knife!
Would you believe I fell asleep last night at 8pm, thought I'd just go lie down and fell asleep-woke up a bit after midnight and lied in bed for 3 hours before I fell asleep again-now I'm going to be tired this afternoon for sure!
I got an e-mail from QUILTER. Thank goodness all is okay and there haven't been any major catastrophes! She's having a hard time staying OP-as many of you can relate. I'm hoping after I write her back she'll mosey on to the board. Of course I'll relay how she's been missed and how we've been worried about her!
I hope you all have a wonderful SB week!!!

Goodness--where is everyone this morning? I'm not usually one of the first on the board.
Feeling much better today. I have high blood pressure that is controlled by medication. The last few times I have had it checked it has been low/normal. My Dr. said if I kept my weight off and the bp continued to fall he'd start lowering the dosage of my medication. I think it might be time for us to start doing jsut that!
Motivation monday thought--we can beat ourselves up if we insist on perfection all the time. Humans are not perfect beings--not in any way shape or form. We need to strive to do the best we can, but putting something into our mouths that is off program does not consitute complete and utter failure. It's a slip and we need to put it into perspective. If we let an occasional slip throw us into despair and failure then we let our imperfection rule us. If we simply try to make the best decisions we can each and every day--each and every meal then the results will follow. An occasional slip--whether it be something that is not on program or too much of a "legal" food" is only a momentary blip. if we learn from it and go on then it has no power over us.

Hi Ladies how is every one I have missed all of you terribly and all your love and support. We have been doing alot of home reno's the last 2 weeks and my computer has been unplugged...arrrgg it was like the death of a friend.I am doing better than I was last time I posted I am back on track...I hope lol,and am back to my low weight which was 178 I had gotten as high as 189 a couple of weeks ago but just pretened I was in Debbi's detox dugeon and worked hard at sticking to my guns. The weather here has been unusually muggy,Calgary is usually quite dry but not the last week or so and of course we dont have air conditioning cause well...no one in calgary has it lol we get snow 8 months of the year  so I have about 5 fans running constantly. This week is a really busy one for me and I will be out of town this weekend but just wanted to let you gals now I am still here and thinking of all of you and am still fighting this woe.
Hope everyone is doing great and talk with you all soon

welcome to all the new gals who have joined while I have been gone.Good luck to you
Motivational thought....
As difficult and unsettling as it may be,you must let go of the belief that if you exercise long and hard enought you will eventually look like a Jane Fonda,Cindy Crawford,or Kathy Smith.Because that is a physical impossibility. However it is physically possible to have the best body you can own and be in the best possible shape you can be,by exercising on a moderate, regular basis.

Good luck ladies be all you were created to be:)

Hello all you SB ladies! Hope all had a wonderful week end. Mine was a little less than perfect because after taking care of Daxton on Friday, who had a virus, I caught it & spent the day home :( alone yesterday. Dh was on call & had to go to work after church. I wasn't up to even checking the board.
Today I had an appointment with my dentist to pull that wisdom tooth that was suppose to have been done since May. He gave me some pain Rx's to help with the pain :dizzy: , so I've been in bed all afternoon. That was a good place to be since it has been raining ALL day.
Debbie, yes that sure is a good MM. We DO have the potential & so often fail to reach it because we do not put out the effort to.
Christian is that you??? wondered where you were! Hope all is going well with you. YES! sour dough bread is legal.
Adam's Rib Sure did miss you. Glad to see you're back!!
Fellise I totally agree with you on your MM thought also. We are not perfect & sometimes when we try to maintain perfection we just set ourselves up for a fall. We have to allow ourselves some room for our imperfections & not "beat ourselves up" for our little failures. Instead, we should say ok, that's done....& go from there. Thanks. You're always so sensible in your rationales.
Here is my MM thought for the day. Read this earlier & thought it was good. "The space between the tears we cry is the laughter that keeps us coming back for more." Dave Matthews.
See ya!

Hi ladies. Missed you terribly. Had a great time. Go for a week and it takes me 2 1/2 hours of reading posts to catch up!!!! Good thing I had those acrylic nails removed so I can type fast!!! I had a great and relaxing time. I'll tell you all details tommorrow. Just wanted to say hi! One good news I'll share. You all heard my lamenting before I left that I wanted to be at 170 by the reunion? Well, the day of the reunion I weighed myself on my mil scale. 170!!!! Today I am at 168!!! Feeling pretty happy today. Now for the replies!!!
Frog-so sorry about the computer problems. It's awful to be so out of touch. Still sleepy or is the meds stable now. You write all you want about anything you want. Way to go on the size 8 kakis. I'm right behind you I hope.
Raly-Hope Cristina is back to normal now. Nothing like a mouthache to make you crabby.
amser-glad the tummy is better and you had a nice time with the neices. Excorsism was really funny. Trust in your decisions you have a good head on your shoulders. Why is it that family always makes me crazy too? Love the quote at the end of your posts. Hang in there girl. I'm praying for you and the nurse who gave gm the nitro. I can't believe that. Love to your inlaws too.
BW-awesome resistence to non OP food. Especially with all that stress. Hope mom is ok.
Deb-see you didn't get washed away with all the rain. Sounds like you had an awesome weekend with Bob. Still waiting to hear about showering with coffee. Your last weeks motivation reminded me about 28 days. "it works if you work it". At least most of us don't need to do the fearless personal inventory. Or do we???? Glad Laurens back. It does feel good to have them all home (until they fight anyway).
Viv-I know what it's like to be a stressed out mom. Don't worry about responding to all. Just put your two bits in. Do what is in your power to do. When I'm down I pray to see what I need to learn and come here to talk it out. So sorry about Dad. Hope you get the help he needs soon and for a good price! Way to go on your PB buys. And I loved hearing the how you met story at camp. I envision a moonlit canoe ride. I liked the easy weightloss plan. Just try to find the things Deb finds in the store. Exercise without the calories.
Idblond-How'd the birthday party go? And the PRincess Diaries? I so want to go to that movie but my two boys veto it every time. What's up with that? LOL. I did see Dr Doolittle 2. Did like that. Congrats on the weight loss. Hope the surgery goes well.
Catlover-uti again? Ugh. Hope it's a memory now. Ditch the doc. Hope you get rain soon. But not too much. I know what happens in Texas with too much rain.
Purple D-Hope you don't mind the shortened name. Welcome!!! Don't give up on the marriage without counseling. I can't tell you how many times I thought about trading in Peter but I'm glad I didn't. The single mom friends that I have struggle so. I had a challenge this week about eating out. Salads are my only way to go when faced with nothing else available. So many restaurants now offer the beef and chicken and if you get without dressing it is usually legal. Have fun at the reunion.
Sol---198!!!!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!:) OOOOH SO HAPPY FOR YOU! Hope the company is downsized enough. Happy dance on workout and cholesterol drop.
lamap-Watch wearing!! Oh what I missed. AWesome. I'm going to do the full body massage thing too. At 160. Haven't seen that weight in 11 years. Don't care how much fat they're kneading. It feels so good. Think of the calories you burned going up that incline in the wind!!!!
Bob-See? We knew you'd survive detox. Not much of a dungeon if you get chocolate. Sorry you were so sick. I have to tell you I love the Lady Vols except when they play ODU. Glad you mouth is better too. You are such a good daughter.
Gator-can relate to golf. I suck. But I'm hooked. Had a chance to go twice last week but mil couldn't take the heat and humidity. I'm going to plan for next weekend with dh. I really miss it.
Melf-I too feel all of you are a big part of my life now. 144. That is so great. I'm so happy for you. Sorry about Daxton. How is the family? And your jaw is better too?
Nance-Really wonderful to be missed. The red dress was great but I ditched it at the last minute when I sought my mil advice. I'm glad I did though. Would've been the only red dress there. How's that for sticking out in a crowd. I didn't though. The classmate who became a bodybuilder and was in her really tight size 8 black leather pantsuit was the one who stuck out. Complete with tattoo on her shoulder. I still looked mahvelous though with my acrylic nails done in the French tips and the 4 glasses of red wine on my empty stomach. Needless to say I didn't talk much but looked great doing it. My toes still hurt from those black highheel pumps. I don't wear pumps anymore. Not practical on a school bus. Fellow people pleaser here. I know all about emotional struggles. I find that the more I take care of myself the more I can give to others. I like that. I hope in 5 years you look back and say "we're glad we staying in this house". Do put in the pool. It doesn't help on appraisal but you get so much more out of it in pleasure.
Krista-sounds like your and amsers plates are really loaded. My prayers are with you. Thank God the grocery store is loaded with fruit and yogurt and cottage cheese to eat in a hurry. Hang in there.
Rosalie-glad you had a good time on vacation. A hike in the woods. Sounds like heaven. Take any pictures?
Karen-Horrors!!!!! A school without windows that open? And the fire inspector allows this???? What's up with the local codes???? Congrats on the new windows and doors. Fall will be with us before we know it.
Sparkle-glad you had such a good time on vacation. Isn't this the perfect time to visit Luray caverns?
Welcome ACES!!!
Linmae-Welcome too. I too love the variety of food. How long have you been on sb? 26 lbs is awesome. Ahhh. Romantic walks on the beach. During the hot day try boogie boarding. Bought one last year in Cape May and can't believe how much fun it is to ride one in the surf. Brought out the kid in me.
Susan-I did miss you. Welcome back. Computers are a pain but great.
Rhoo-Welcome back too. I can identify with so-so kids. I am 3/4 through the vacation laundry.
AR-welcome back too. Missed you.
Well. Fingers are sore from all this typing. Talk to y'all tommorrow.

Hey everybody!
I have been out of the loop because my internet service provider was hit with that ridiculous CODE RED virus
We were able to get one of the computers at home up and running yesterday! At least now I feel more connnected. I was finding myself at a loss without the connection to my SB PEEPS!!!
I have been able to run some this week, even though the weather has been unbearably hot and humid. I will go in the a.m. too. I may join a local gym to do some weight training. I need to build some muscle burning fat!
I feel as though I am gaining weight these past two weeks. I don't know if the medicine is pushing my appetite or a desire to eat certain things (fat), or what! I am trying to get a handle on it and increase the exercise. I plan to do a little Yoga tonight after my dinner has had a chance to settle.
I admit that I haven't read the posts from last week, I was too excited to be able to post. I'll go back and read them after I'm done here.
Hope all are doing well. Welcome Newbies!
Peace,

I am overwhelmed and humbled and deeply touched. Today when I got home from work I had four emails and they were all from members of this fabulous board. Thanks to DEB, ROSALIE, MELF and FILLISE for your kind words of encouragement. You all really have told me what I needed to hear. I love you all for bringing me gently but firmly back into the circle.
First things first . . . PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE accept my apologies for causing any of you to worry. I never even dreamed that you all would think something terrible happened. But now it makes perfect sense to me that you would think that. A person who ALWAYS has something to say suddenly disappears. Hmmmmm. Guess that was pretty dumb on my part.
As DEB told you, I have been having a rough time of it not only with staying on program but with doubting the whole plan. It’s been gross. I really ripped SB a new one so to speak. Taking on all these thoughts that it was just another diet that I would add to my long list of unsuccessful efforts. Geesh, I was wallowing in it, huh? All the while . . . I really knew deep down inside that this wasn’t the truth. So that’s where I’ve been mentally and physically and emotionally . . . Dullsville, for sure!!!
So thanks for the help and the guidance.
DEB---Your motivation was awesome!! I could relate. I have to be ready and willing to put out the effort and quit making dumb excuses or dramas in my life. You are so right. We all have potential and limitless possibilities!!! Your email was such a help. You really have a way of putting things into perspective and opening my eyes to the truth. Thanks, friend!!!
FILLISE---Hope you get off your bp meds soon. My MIL lost a hundred pounds a few years ago (because of finding out she was diabetic) and she got off all her meds. She’d been on BP meds for over 30 years. Once the weight was off, the high BP was not longer an issue. Amazing how that works!!! Your MM (along with your wonderful email) was exactly what I needed to hear. It’s odd . . . I don’t expect anybody else to be perfect, but I surely expect myself to be that way.
MELF---Sorry to hear about your sickly weekend to be topped of by a dentist visit spelled e-x-t-r-a-c-t-i-o-n!!! Personally, I think your week can only go UP from here. What do you think??? Hope the pain isn’t bad. BTW, has anybody said this lately: YOU ARE FOUR POUNDS AWAY FROM YOUR GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!! WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you just so excited? I am pee-my-pants-excited for you!!!! (Hope that doesn’t offend . . . just an expression we use in these here parts!) Anyways, congrats! I’m proud of you!!!!!
Well, girls, it sure feels good to be back with my friends. Thanks again for all the help. I’m going to hot glue velcro to my behind so I can stay firmly atop that ******** wagon!!!! Here's my deal to you: Each day I will do the best I can do. That's it! Somedays my best will be different, but I will start the day trying. And I love what FILLISE said that we need to approach it ONE MEAL at a time. Words to certainly and truly live by. Sorry this is short but I’m in the midst of the Harry Potter books and am trying to get some good reading in tonight. Thanks again for all the kind words. I’ll see you tomorrow!
Take care.

We muddle through and do the best we can. As long as we stick together a bunch of us can be strong when one if us is weak. Goodness knows, I've certainly taken strength from this board in my weakest moments!
Kim--I'm glad you are back. I've had doubts about this WOE too--usually when I'm tired and don't want to take the time to plan OP meals. Then I think how much better I feel--how my health has improved in the last year--how my stamina has improved and I know that this WOE is far superior to anything I was doing before (which was, to be honest, pigging out). Tonight I had a porkchop cooked on the George Foreman, some butter beans and half a baked sweet potato. I'm stuffed (and I cut my portions in half because I got full)--there is no deprivation in that meal. I'm very satisfied! My body has all the fuel it needs to get me through the night. Just take it one meal at a time!
AR--welcome back! It seems like a bunch of us were disconnected one way or the other last week. It was agony! Glad to hear you are back with the program!
BOB--I'm comming to your house for dinner! YUM! I hope you had a good day--one good day is all you ever need. If that's what we shoot for the long term will take care of itself! Speaking of being a size ten again--my new TV Guide arrived today with an ad for a weight loss supplement. This is a direct quote of the copy:"I had struggled for two years to get thin, but nothing ever seemed to work. Then I discovered Xenadrine and went from a size 10 to a size 6 in just three short weeks." And we wonder why American women are so darned insecure about their weight. AAARRRGGGHHHHH!
ok vent over
Frog--boy do I sympathize on the out of the electronic look thing! I'm back in the gym now. I can do upper body weights, but am not allowed back on the leg machines for another 3-4 weeks. The stationary bycycle is, however giving my legs a good workout! Keep the faith!
Fly--I bet you looked hot in that red dress--even if you did ditch it! Don't ya just hate those evil pumps:?:
OK--off to surf. Talk to you tomorrow.

I AM WITH YOU!!! What you say is the truth, dear friend!!! I love your diet suggestions!!! Sorry I haven't been there to help you and give a hoist back onto the wagon. I just had a 45 minute IM with Nance tonight. She's gearing up for her visit with DEB. That will help her a lot. I think between the three of us we can come up with ONE decent sugar buster! HA!!! Not just kidding. We can do this. I've got my fingers and toes and eyes crossed for you hoping that tomorrow is a great day and that you make it to bedtime and feel good about your efforts for the day.
Also, I agree with what you said about being a size 10. I think I wore a size ten once in 1974 for about 15 minutes. I just want to get into some clothes that are already hanging in my closet and feel good about the size of my butt. How's that for a solid goal to shoot fer????
Paul and Maddie send hugs your way. Maddie says to tell Cuzzin' Skeeter to keep cool and keep waggin'!

Hey all. Got a few minutes so decided to peek in. It sounds like we're all here to do each other good. I like that.
Frog-so happy to hear you're connected again. Glad to hear you're back running again too. Seems like nothing is going to stop you.
Nance, Bob, Quilter & all who are struggling. Don't give up. I know you'll be here for me when I'm struggling too. Just as Quilter says. Today I'll do my best.
Nance--I didn't tell you what I wore? Must have been the glazed eyes from the 2.5 hours of reading posts to catch up. And I stayed on line during a nasty storm too. The lightning struck a 13 yr old who went back into the surf today after the lifeguards kicked everyone out and went home. He's alive but not doing great. I wore a black sheath dress with lace over it. It really is a pretty dress. My husband and mil said I was fabulous in it. Who was I not to agree? We have pics on the digital camera so I'll get dh to post asap. I stayed legal during the buffet eating the meat and salad. It was fun seeing how people had changed and how most people didn't recognize my husband who had gained 80 lbs since high school. I thought I would be incredibly bored but I met some really interesting people and it was fun. It was an interesting class. About half were dressed up and the other half was wearing the new "casual" style. It's like this age group is confused about how to dress. I have to admit I am too. I love casual but there are functions where I like to dress up. Like this one. But I feel "old fashioned" when I do that. Gosh, I'm not sure I'm making sense. I should just give in and dress casual in the future. At least I can wear the clothes more often.
I have my legs up now because my knees are bothering me. I'm going to make an appointment to have them checked out. Peter make some smart alec comment about my age and I wanted to deck him.
Have you all heard about these new web sites that are pro-anorexic? Some of these girls actually prefer to starve themselves and assist others in being efficient at it? That is horrifying and sad. I see so many ultra thin girls in my job and I shake my head. Enough of this sad stuff.
As I thought my dh attempted to get mil to side with him about my new woe. She was concerned but saw after day 2 that I was eating healthily. I stuck to my guns and ate legally. Even tried SF FF yogurt in a cup. That frankly sucks. Rather have water next time thank you very much. Had several attempts to pull me off program to no success. I didn't make a big deal about it just smiled and said "no". My mil was on my side by day 3. She is the BEST!!!!! I am so lucky. The best time was on the trip home we went to Burger King for dinner. They had no salads. (I was a little sick of garden salads but I was determined). So I said nothing. I had sb fruit in the car to eat. Well, the next time we stopped for gas lo and behold the gas station also had a "Subway" inside. I was in heaven. A salad with meat!!!! I had a bmt and didn't have to stick with a garden salad from BK. I ran twice in NY 3 miles both days.
Nance next time I'll tell you about our short get away while on vacation.
Well, gotta go.

Hello fabulous creatures!
Welcome back to Kim, Froggie, Kymn, 'Fly and anybody else who has been off doing something else besides posting! And SolShine who has made only a few guest appearances! ;)
Debbie, certainly I wasn't pointing comments in your direction, lol, but I'm glad we were able to exchange points of view. I have certainly learned a lot from your zeal and dedication, and as I've said before, you've inspired me to action!
As you can tell from my long and tortured posts in times past, this whole "black-and-white" thinking is a big issue with me. I feel like a small child with a desire to learn but no motor skills whatsoever when it comes to "moderation." (Whatever that means.) I've been dealing with it by cutting out certain foods altogether if I can't control myself (chocolate, cereal, even Diet Coke) but not forever, because that's too much for my brain to handle. I grew up very poor and the minute I got some money it was really hard to deprive myself of anything! While my sister used our somewhat improved circumstances as an opportunity to eat fruits and vegetables, which we rarely saw growing up, I was busy buying myself bags and bags of chocolate candy and anything else I could get a hold of. I had to teach myself that I could live without certain items on PURPOSE, and I get stronger each time. But still, I'm frustrated with myself. It's always two steps forward and one step back.
I really admire your purpose and your accomplishments and I know that this time the weight is going to stay off FOREVER for you, because you've learned a new way of eating and you've built a support network that's not going to let you down!
:)
Well I've had a VERY CHALLENGING weekend, which involved the physical and emotional trauma of "helping" my parents move (doing most of the work). Nuff said. The good news is, when I was absolutely exhausted in every way I put my foot down! I said, I understand the urgency, but I need time for myself too. So I watched our Sunday night lineup (Fox) and cleaned my OWN ROOM! Then I got behind on my work Sat helping them move so I had to work until 7:30 tonight. Welcome back to real life Chris!
Life post-vacation has been rather difficult. My week on the East Coast really helped me to focus my efforts and I did pretty darn well doing everything I could before vacation, at least in the last month. Now I'm drifting into post-holiday blues where time seems to drag on in an endless smear with nothing definite on the horizon to focus my obsessive energies upon. Intellectually I know that I make my OWN special moments but I think ya'll know what I mean.
Yet (unlike all the other low times in my life!) the other half of me is fighting just as hard to stay focused. I've been through this so many times that I recognize that it's a low point in the cycle and that means that things WILL get better. It's not like before where one or two bad days led to TEN YEARS of oblivion.
:)
I don't have time to totally catch up and it looks like I'm not going to at this point! LOL but it's always great to read up on how you chickees are doing. Very inspiring!
Love,
Chris

Yeppers!! Muscadines are in season! I bought a huge bag of green and purple muscadines last night!! I LOVE muscadines!!
DEBBIE – That’s a great quote. We are in the instant gratification mode thanks to society. People so often go up to their necks in debt trying to acquire the things that took their parents decades to acquire. We’re the same way with our weight. We must be spoiled, too, wanting someone to do it for us. :) Thanks for posting that “before” picture! It doesn’t look a thing like you!! Normally you can see some facial features or something, but I totally wouldn’t recognize you!!
FILLISE – Hooray on needing lower bp meds!! You are kicking butt and taking names!! It’s great to read about all your accomplishments: your weight, your new knees, your new business, your handling of social functions with few SB friendly options… You truly are an inspiration!!
KYMN – Welcome back!! We have missed you! Renovations sounds fun!! Cool quote, but you don’t REALLY mean that I won’t look like Cindy Crawford, do you??? How about Chyna?
MARY – So glad to hear you’re doing better and going to get your tooth taken care of. Will that help with the jaw pain, too? We’re having Zucchini Pizza tonight for supper and I can hardly wait to get home. The clock won’t move fast enough today.
FLY – You get the gold medal for catching up in style! Glad to have you back and can’t wait to hear about the reunion. CONGRATS on reaching goal on your goal date!!! I got nails put on for my wedding and couldn’t wait to get them taken off when we got back from our honeymoon. I type all day and long nails just don’t go with keyboards in my book….and I have nails that are thick as all get out and grow like weeds. Other women would kill for my nails – it’s kinda funny.
FROG – Glad to have you back!! With all your exercising I’m sure it’s just a fluctuation and will come right back off if you are gaining.
QUILTER – WELCOME BACK!!!!! Soooooo goood to hear from you and that you’re alright!! I LOVE Harry Potter books!! Can’t wait for the movie to come out. I already have lined up a seat with a couple of friends and their kids since I don’t have any kids and Vince isn’t all that thrilled with going to a “children’s” movie.
BOB – I’m with you three, too! Don’t leave me out!! I even bought tahini to make that amorous hummous you keep advertising! Watched “Shaft” this week-end. It was good. I really like Samuel L Jackson. He’s so good and always does good movies.
SPARKLE – Hang in there!! It’s good that you said you needed some “Chris time” and took it! We have to take care of ourselves or we won’t have anything to give to others.
We helped some friends move on Saturday. We got there at 8:30am with 20 other people and loaded up 2 huge trucks full of their “stuff”. Got it all loaded and the house cleaned by 11:30am. Amazing!! I cleaned the kitchen and all the baseboards in the house. Judging by how sore my legs are I’m thinking it was a 5,000 sq. ft. house!! Not really, but, man those squats and lunges really did give me a work-out!! Sunday we went to Sea World and went to our favorite places. It’s still kind of busy there but hopefully the crowds will start to taper off as everyone goes back to school and work. I really wanted to ride Atlantis, but there was an hour long wait for it. Thank goodness we have season passes and didn’t feel gipped for skipping it. Next year maybe we’ll get season tickets to Disney or Universal. I don’t feel so bad going when we can go whenever and definitely get our money’s worth out of it. Paying so much money for just one day and spending the whole day waiting in line just isn’t my idea of fun. OF COURSE IN JANUARY I’LL GLADLY PAY TO WATCH FROG KICK BUTT!!
Have a great day, everyone!!

LOL I have to say i am NOT tempted by any potato salad or pasta salads i pass those suckers right up!!! i also didn't have any hamburgers or dogs. I had chicken all week end. I wish i could go to a party and come home with out an stomach ache!!! I really think its the liquor! duh!!! anyway thats my whining for the day! keep in touch -i will be trying But you know i am always lurking. YOu all always have a way to inspire me.

Good morning everyone :)
A new day, a new beginning, for everyone who's being having a hard time (including me). I was feeling a bit down yesterday and ticked off with the scale as it just doesn't want to move in the right direction. Anyway I managed to get in a couple of games of badminton before going to work yesterday afternoon and felt a bit better after that. Exercise always seems to perk up the spirits. I did very well with eating yesterday. I made a major decision last night. I am NOT getting on the scale every day. It's become almost an obsession. Even when I've made up my mind not to get on it in the morning it never fails that I hop right on when I see it. (Maybe I should hide it from myself.) This morning I managed to stay off - I've had breakfast so don't have to worry for to-day as I only ever weigh first thing in the morning. I will weigh tomorrow for WIW and then will weigh just twice a week.
Going on a bike ride soon as I have finished here then have a closet I have to clean out. I''ve just bought a couple of covered frying pans and have no where to put them, also have a few things stored in the corner of my dining room. Hopefully I can make room for it all in the closet if I get rid of some of the junk I haven't used for years.
Fly - Lucky you having the support of your mil in this woe. Maybe this will encourage your dh to support you too. Glad you had a good time at the reunion and wonderful that you could stay op with tempting food around you. So pleased to know you got where you wanted to be before the reunion and down 2 more pounds yesterday. I'll do the happy dance for you. My dd took a couple of pictures on the hike. I dread to see what I looked like after puffing up the hills. Probably be a while before she gets them printed as she'd just put a new film in the camera.
Kim - Good to see you back posting again. You were really missed. Just take it one day, or one meal, at a time.
Melf - Congrats on getting so close to goal and thanks for the encouraging words. I am in need of some motivation at the moment. Sorry to hear you caught the flu bug from Daxton. And then having a wisdom tooth extracted - OUCH. Hope you are feeling better to-day. I made the zucchini pizza a few days ago. It tasted great but I made the mistake of cooking it on a pizza pan with holes in. I kinda new that I shouldn't be doing it but I went ahead anyway. Thank heavens I had some tin foil in the bottom of the oven. I went out yesterday and bought a new 12 inch pan (without the holes, of course) and will use it when I next make the pizza, which will probably be soon.
Bob - Your are doing a lot of shopping lately. Hope you are getting lots of bargains. We have a new Walmart just opened in town. I was there to-day and picked up a covered frying pan for cooking chicken and stir fried veggies and stuff.
Debbie - I was just looking at your picture from seventeen years ago - if I saw that picture and a recent one side by side I wouldn't recognise it as the same person. You look so different (apart from the difference in weight). To think that you now weigh less than half what you weighed then. What an achievement. I haven't tried any recipes yet from the Lebanese cookbook but I may try the zucchini omelet for lunch to-day (if I am home). I have the day off and plan on going out to do some shopping.
Frog - Doesn't it suck when the computers are down. I feel like I am deprived when I can't get online. Glad to see you back online again and keeping up with the running.
Fillise - It's good to hear that your bp is getting back to normal.. Hope you can get off those meds soon.
Solshine - Muscadines - never heard of them - what are they? That was quite a workout you had cleaning house for you friends. I wish you could come up and do some of mine
Sparkle - Glad you could find time for yourself. We all need that alone time to get ourselves in gear.
Rhroo - Sounds like you will get your exercise chasing kids around to-day
Nance - Hi. Just a few more days before you meet the Dungeon Master. Hope she's not too hard on you.
Gotta go and get these chores done and get out for the bike ride.
Bye for now
Marie.

You are on track woman! Glad to hear you are doing so well. You really sound like you have your mind on the right path and glad to hear you are doing so well!
FLY
Black dresses are always a good bet. I bet you looked fab! Can't wait to see the pics...tell Peter I said to HURRY UP!!!! Must see the pictures A.S.A.P.!!! What type of work do you do where there are all these skinny-minis? I can't believe you are getting so close to your goal! That's awesome! What's this prelude to a get away...did you and Peter sneak off and have some romance by chance??? Did you go skinny dipping? The suspense is killing me!!!!
Solshine What the **** is a MUSCADINE? Never heard of them before. Now your going tomake me go to the store and look in the funny fruit section and seek one out!
Rhroo
Maybe you don't feel like helping the hubby with SB since you already put a big effort in for yourself, and don't have the energy to motivate him?!?!? I don't know...I havent had any coffee yet, my thoughts could be muddled! Glad you were able to pass those lethal salads up. You will power is better than mine lately!
Rosalie
How's that cleaning coming along? I've been on a cleaning spree at work, and now need to work on the casa! Cleaning always makes me feel better. Kind of like your cleaning out the cobwebs of your mind. Clutter is so icky!
BOB
Are you sittin' down? I actually got up and went walking today! These feet haven't seen the payment in months!!!! Made the mistake of mentioning it to Deb, now she wants me to do it again tomorrow! How's your day going today???
IMPORTANT UPDATE.......Deb just informed me her computer is alive again and she didn't loose it all!!!! YIPEE...she's smiling again and will post later after her shower. We all can sleep well tonight knowing our fearless leader is back in commission!!!

Good morning everyone. Another rainy day it looks like. Perfect day for cleaning the house. Gearing up for the big push. My vacation laundry keeps growing. Propagating like bunnies it looks like. Gonna nip that in the bud today. Nothing else planned but housework and we're having some kind of fun later. Boys will choose. Can't work all day. Hard to get back into the work thing. I was spoiled. I cooked once in 7 days and I spent a lot of time relaxing. By the pool mostly. Read a book. Mercedes Lacey called "The black swan". It was interesting. A sci-fi book. I think I'll read the Harry Potters like Sol so I can know what's going on when my boys go to the movies. Going to start this week.
Deb-that picture was something. You always knew there was a beautiful woman waiting to emerge---didn't you?
Sol-Enjoy the muscadines. About the lookalikes. I'd like to look like Sally Field. Hasn't she aged gracefully? She's always had that "natural" look that appeals to me. You're right--I'm jealous of your nails. Mine are really thin-especially now. But sooooo glad to be rid of the other nails. They bent back far too often and really hurt. It was nice to go a week without breaking a nail though. I prefer to keep them short too. Aren't you smart to join friends children in seeing the movies. I'm going to use that strategy to see the Princess Diaries.
Sparkle--So wise to know when you're at a low and recognize that it's all up from there. Hang in there.
Rhoo--I didn't graduate with dh. I was an Air Force child and had a new school every 2-3 years. I hardly knew my graduating class so I don't go to the reunions. The only one I'd go to is Kubasaki in Okinawa Japan and that's a little far. I don't even know if they have reunions and most of my friends probably wouldn't be there anyway. We were always transfering in and out. I bet you'll look great by your reunion. You must have a way with people to recruit dh and now mom. She'll be past whining and singing praises when she sees results. Hopefully soon.
Melf-everyone better?
Rosalie-Glad you were able to get exercise in before working. I think not weighing daily is right for me too. I weighed once in a week and I wasn't as obsessed as I've been before. I was going to ask you about your bike when I read the bottom of your post. Sounds like it won't be collecting dust.
Well, have a great morning everyone.

Must be a southern thang! We had muscadine bushes out behind the playground in grade school and would assault the bushes during recess! Mississippi State makes an awesome muscadine wine! I've been playing Johnny Appleseed with the seeds in the wilder areas around our neighborhood hoping some will take root.
One time Vince and I saw a bush by a fence at a house that was for sale. We hadn't seen any activity at the house for a long time so we decided to stop and see if the muscadines were ripe.....wouldn'tcha know it....a guy comes out of the house thinking we're interested in buying it. We played along and got out of there as soon as we could! :o A couple of weeks later we came back by and they had cut down the bushes!!
http://www.muscadine.com/ http://www.muscadine.com/ has some information on them. They are at Publix stores right now if anyone has a Publix in their area.
NANCEMEISTER I didn't forget about you! I was having trouble copying and pasting my post this morning, so I musta missed yours. Take good notes from the DUNGEON DIVA and you and BOB put together a good list for those of us not as fortunate as to get personal DETOXING from the Queen of SB herself!!

Hello everyone--I hope your day is starting off well. I guess that boat has already sailed without Deb. I certainly can sympathize with the computer problems--Nance--if you talk to her again please tell her that I'm thinking about her.
Solshine--I can't beleive there is another muscadine fanatic on the board! I too bought my first of the season last night. I have loved muscadines and scuppernongs ever since I was a little girl. The worst was when I lived in Iowa and Washington state and couldn't get them. Down here they are in abundance and I hit the local farmer's market a couple of times a week while they are in season. YUM!
Rhoo--a muscadine is a type of grape. They grow in the south and have tough skins so you suck the meat out of the skin. They are just about the best things imaginable!
Chris--getting back into the swing of things after vacation is tough. I'm rereading the 7-habits book and the chapter I just finished is about being proactive. In other words--don't let your circumstances control you. Work on controlling your circumstances.
I guess that is my tip for everyone--be proactive. It is often so easy to let ourselves believe that circumstances make us the way we are. They are certainly big influences on our lives--but we can choose how we will respond to circumstances. That choice is always within our power and we have to take responsibility for our choices.
Have a good day everyone!

Hello ALL!!
Sorry I haven't been around. IT's been HELLLLLL:devil: around my place. Remember how my dh has been on disability since the end of june. Well they terminated him yesterday when he came back to work. Is that a bunch of **** or what?? He's going to MESC today for unemployment until he finds a new job. This really sucks bigtime. So I haven't been in the mood to get online and chat. Plus we've been extremely busy with family events going on.
I'm not an emotional eater thank god. So at least I don't have to worry about the pounds.
Well gotta get back to work

Hey ladies...we were down on the internet again here and so I was frustrated as I had time to post yesterday....but....foiled again.
Just had a moment....
Kimmi - It was so nice IM-ing you last nite even tho I should have been sleeping. I'm glad you're okay and just having some down time, but even gladder that you're back. I hope we can all help you get back OP and feelin' good! :D
We were in Maine again this weekend, picking up DS from camp. He had a great time and amazingly, even tho I mostly stayed OP, I ganed about 2 pounds. That's me, just look at some illegal food and the weight comes on no matter what. :?:
Oh, and I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Harry Potter too! My older son's name is Harrison but of course all his friends call him Harry. Mark the date for the movie - November 16! JK Rowling is brilliant!
I'm sorry - gotta get back to work now.
Oh -
VA Fly - thanks for the kind words.
Gotta run.

Hi Everyone!
What a day it's been! This morning when I got up, of course, the first thing I do is run to the computer to read my mail and see what's happened on the board since I was on last the evening before. I couldn't get on AOL-not that I couldn't get on, I couldn't get it to even come up on the computer. Each time I tried to click on the AOL ICON I'd get an error message-I couldn't see my files which I can usually see when I'm off line-I mean there was NOTHING! Lately, I've been having trouble, and most recently, when I'd go to refresh the 3FC'S site page of ours, I'd get locked up for a while and then get a SYSTEM RESPONSE MESSAGE-it was the only site I had trouble with, no other site gave me problems. Well, when this happened this morning, I about died! I had just mentioned yesterday to one of you, I think it was MELF, via e-mail, that I would die if my computer crashed, and here it was happening to me! I put a kunahora (curse) on myself it seemed! Anyhow, I tried everything I could to try and fix this problem, and being computer stupid, well, you know how that goes. I finally tried to reinstall AOL all over again, and I kept coming into trouble, this was corrupted, I didn't have enough space on my hard disk, these files were open (and they weren't). I deleted so many things-hope I didn't need any of them! Finally, I got AOL re-loaded back on-and ALL OF MY FILES & FAVORITES were GONE! Another heart attack! I finally got on and saw NANCE on line and she told me to pray to the St. of missing things (you guys have saints for everything), well, I figured it couldn't hurt, even if I was Jewish! Luckily, I was able to find my organize file and figure out how to install it into the new version of AOL-and I was back in business!!! Like I said, WHAT A MORNING!
Anyhow, Eli was off today and by the time I finnished with this problem I was over due a shower from my walk this morning-which I really didn't feel like going on, but did the 4.5 miles anyhow-so I had no time to get in a post before leaving. Finally now, I can boot Michael off the computer and get in some me time-praying that the lightening doesn't strike the computer as I go!!!!
I have a meeting at the school tonight, so I may be a bit late for chat, but I may not. Another reminder, CHAT IS AT 9:15PM TONIGHT!!!!! Here's the direct link to the SB CHAT ROOM:
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/sbchat.php
Okay, I better get a grip and start to reply to all of you!!!!:)
CHRISTIAN, I see your question was answered! Glad to see you are still around and doing well.
FILLISE, what wonderful news to hear about your BP! Your body isn't just rewarding your efforts on the scale I see!! Hope you get off those meds totally!!! I loved your MM thought you posted-thanks for sharing! I liked what you said to Quilter in your post, esp. there is no deprivation in that meal. I'm very satisfied! That right there says a lot for this WOE and I totally agree with it!
AR, I can totally feel for you having no computer for 2 weeks, I didn't have mine for a few hours and was going nuts!!!! Happy to hear that you are back down again, guess all those renovations kept you working hard and not leaving much time to get in trouble in the fridge. Can't imagine how it must be for you and others with no a/c-I know you Canadians don't have much use for it, but this summer, seems like you could of used one! Thanks for posting your MM thought!!! I'm sure you'll survive the MIL visit!!! She'll get to see all the work you've been putting into the house-so show it off proudly. Don't let it/her stress you out, you can always go in your room and lock the door!
MELF, sorry to hear you weren't feeling well and got what Daxton had-yuck! How are you doing after getting that wisdom tooth pulled?
FLY, glad to see your post on the board! What great news to hear you were below your reunion goal-you should be proud! Sounds like you had a great time, can't wait to see the pics. Good for you for not being swayed easily to go off plan! I'm really proud of you! How I wish I could say that I don't eat out more than once a week-but we go out usually twice a week not bad. Again, it's good you are looking forward to this massage-and not eating out will definintely be worth it! Honestly, never thought there was a beautiful lady under all that fat, still hard to not see myself being very heavy-I don't need a body massage, I need a total body make-over!!!!
FROG, glad to see you back full force, well, sort of! Like I told AR, I can sympathize not having computer access, and mine was only down for hours! Hows the eating today? It just may be a TOM whirlwind, I went through that about 2 weeks ago, a longer period than usual for me, nothing satisfied me and I ate way too much, but it passed, just as it came along.
QUILTER, ahhhh KIM! WELCOME HOME MY DEAR!!! Sorry I haven't responded yet to your e-mail, but I will;) First I want to say-DON'T YOU EVER DO THAT AGAIN! get us all worried like that!!!! I'll have to have a talk with Paul! You had no idea what we were thinking, and then when you didn't answer e-mails, well, you know, I won't rub it in any more. I'm sure I speak for all of us in saying we are glad you are back from the insane asylum and have found yourself again. Just like you said, you will do your best each and every day, that's all we can ask from ourselves-but do do your best, and you know when it's your best and when it could be better-remember, think before you take actions!!!! {{{{HUGS}}}} So, is Paul sitting there sighing with relief????
BOB, went to Shorty's today and not only thought about you, we spoke about you during lunch-were your ears burning????? Anything new on your end????
NANCE, thanks so much for all the help this morning and telling me about that Saint! Tell Dan thanks for buying the garlic, have to have the fresh stuff so we can all stink potently!
SPARKLE, interesting analogy about growing up poor and when you had the opportunity you bought junk food. I didn't grow up poor by any means, but I sure bought all the junk food I could with any money I could get my hands on! I remember one time I asked my father for a quarter and he wanted to know what I was going to do with it- DUH! Of course, it was for chocolate! Don't remember if I ever got that quarter though. I know I would take ice cream, cake and candy over a decent meal any day, and that's what I'd do growing up. I really believe that chocolate made me feel good, for the moment, at that time of growing up-wish I knew back then what I know now!!!!
SOL, I love MUSCADINES and SCUPPERNOGS! Do you know the first time I ever tried those were up in Georgia at HARRY'S! I love that place-they have the most unusual fruits from all over there-have you ever been there? I wonder if AMSER has been there, I think I asked her once if she had, anyhow, a place not to be missed if you're in Atlanta area! Many people can't believe that that's a picture of me-pretty bad, isn't it! I think I was wearing a very tight and stretched out 44DDD bra at that time-it was a really bad time for me then. I had my stomach stapled about 1 1/2 months after that pic was taken. Youguys are nuts, Seaworld in August-a Floridian goes to an amusement park in August????????????
RHROO, glad to see you checking in. Nope, nothing from Margaret!
ROSALIE, it's those little endorphins kicking in when you exercise that makes you feel good-and I can tell you, they seem to kick in quite quickly! Have DS hide the scale. I promise that I will do that one day soon, after I reach my bottom of my cushion goal. I'll have Lauren hide it and bring it out, but I'm not ready to do so yet. I want to wait a bit, maybe that will be my NEW YEARS RESOLUTION! I have the same problem with pots and pans, they are under the oven in the drawer, in the oven, and in a box-and here, I don't cook! Go figure!!! WOW, you just made me realize that I weigh less than half the weight in that picture-by 15 pounds! I never want to see that person again! When I got back close to 200lbs before deciding to follow SB I pulled out that picture and said NEVER AGAIN! A picture like that doesn't lie and makes one realize if you don't get a grip, it could happen again!!!
RALY, glad to see your post, but sorry to hear about hubby's job-that sucks big time! Are they allowed to do that legally-under what grounds was he terminated? I'd ask a lawyer for sure! Hope he finds something soon-hey, STARBUCKS is always hiring-Eli loves his job there!!!!
VIV, your son and Rhoo's go to the same camp?????????
Okay, I think I've got all my replies in-if I missed anyone, please forgive me!
Since it IS TUESDAY TIPS, here's a wonderful tip to share with you all...
Remember the SPICE & CAROB CAKE mixes I spoke about last week. Well, I went to a small HFS near me to see if they may have the spice cake mix, which they did, BUT, they also had something else that I had not found before, made by the same manufacturer, FEARN. It's a STONEGROUND WHOLEWHEAT PANCAKE MIX! 100% NATURAL NO ADDED SUGAR! All you need to do is addmilk, egg and oil to the mix!! The can (2LBS) has recipes on the back for not only the pancakes, but waffles, nut bread, muffins, Belgian waffles and a super protein pancake! This store has some interesting stuff, but always more expensive than other HFS. The can was $3.39, so I'm sure you can find it elsewhere cheaper. Can't wait to give it a try with some agave nectar on top of them!!!! So, keep on the look out for this product-if it's as good as the spice cake mix, I'll be happy!!!!!!!!!!!
And of course, I must remind you all TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!! I wish the scale are kind to you all, and for those of you who are re-commiting, don't let those numbers deter you, just think, whatever they are they're better than what they would of been if you waited any longer!!!
Hope to be on time for chat later tonight and to see you there!!!!!!

Well, friends, I have done the best I can do today. And it’s right where I want to be. So far, so good. Got my Fitday chart going this morning. Planned meals 1 & 2 and a snack. Feeling good about eating what’s right. And just for good measure, I added the water into the equation. Whew, I’m beat!!! LOL I have to say thanks again for the deluge of support. I told Paul I felt so loved and appreciated last night from you all. I couldn’t get off the computer until 11 last night because there was always another SB person to answer or chat with. It was really great!!! I just hope I can return the favors whenever you all need a boost up. We are wonderful, powerful women who are working miracles right here in our little areas in front of the monitor. It’s amazing. And I thank each of you.
Oh yes, I did weigh in this morning. 176. Yuck! But hey, I deserve it. Could have been worse, I suppose. I will weigh in again tomorrow and see what one day does. This is TOM week, so that’s probably not helping either.
NANCE---Thanks for the great chat last night. That was fun and really helped to lift me back up to where I can see clearly. You are fabulous, dahling.
FILLISE---I like your idea about all the strong banding together for the weak ones. Gosh, that makes me feel better. That’s exactly what happened with you all. Your meal last night sounded great. We love our GF grill and use it ALL the time. What did you do with your butter beans? Anything special?
FLY---Thanks for the welcome back words. Hey, I think I’ve been missing something good with you. Was it a high school reunion? Sounds like you WOWed them big time!!! Way to go superFLY!!!!! Sounds like you really won your MIL over. Good for you and good for her to wise up and recognize what healthy eating is all about. Your determination INSPIRES me to handle the situations MY way not somebody else’s way!! Hey, I missed the whole conversations about look alikes, but saw what you just wrote this morning. I think that Holly Hunter has aged so well. I couldn’t get over how young she looked in Oh Brother Where Art Thou. She looks the very same as she did in Broadcast news all those years ago. What’s her secret?
SOL---Just got your email. Thanks . . . will respond later. But I must add that I had NO clue what a muscadine was or is. Sounds exotic and interesting. You made me laugh about going to the movie with somebody else’s kid. I also have my seat reserved with my friends’ great kids. They are the ones who were pushing me to get started on the HP series. Seriously, I think there will be a lot of adults who are at the movie. Practically everyone I talk to has read it!!! BTW---You are a very good friend to wash baseboards. Gosh, that’s a workout and such a wonderful thing to have done for them.
RHROO---Again, some very wise words, girlfriend. If I could just keep ahold of the memory of how great it feels when I’m losing, I would have no problems staying in line. There’s that old saying from years ago at Weight Watchers . . . Nothing tastes as good as losing weight feels!!!! Fantastic feeling!!!! Question: What company made your instant messenger program. I know that AOL has one and it’s free and you don’t have to be an AOL subscriber to use it. That’s why I’m not sure what you have. I have the AOL one. And I know that’s what a bunch of the girls on this board have too. Also, I think MSN has an instant messenger package too. I think ROSALIE has a couple of different ones. We should ask her.
Hey ROSALIE---Read the above stuff I just wrote to Rhonda. Can you clear this up for us? I’m confused. What you mentioned about exercise is so true. I always feel like I could tackle the whole world right after finishing a good walk/run on the TM. You are doing well with your exercise. That is awesome that you go ahead and make yourself MOVE even though you are down in the dumps!!! What a victory to win out over your emotions. When I’m down I tend to wallow and in a seated position. LOL. I hope you soon find the scales being more cooperative. If they don’t, maybe you should throw it out and then buy a new one. Also, on the weighing thing . . . I keep my scales in the basement. (Our bathroom is so tiny, there is no extra floor space.) Anyways, I have to make the effort to walk downstairs before eating when I want to weigh. Maybe you wouldn’t have to hide it, just put it farther away.
VIV---I too enjoyed our chat last night. You are too funny. I think JKRowling is a genius and so imaginative. These books are so wonderful. That’s cool that your son has the coolest name going right now!!! Yes, we’ll be there on Nov 16. Sorry to hear you had a gain. Hope you can wipe it away by next WIW.
DEB---Sorry to hear about your computer woes. That’s a pretty stinky way to start the day. We’ve had a couple of times with no internet access in the past few weeks and that was bad enough. To think that all the files are gone would be too much to bear. Glad that you stuck it out and figured the whole mess out. I am impressed. Will have to tell Paully of your day and how you battled the BillGates Monster and won!!! He will be proud of you! And FYI . . . IT’S GREAT TO BE BACK!!! Man, I feel like doing the Homer Simpson “Doh” and smacking my forehead. What was I thinking???? I must have been temporary insane and just in case you are wondering. I told them at the asylum to release my room because I wouldn’t be coming back. LOL. Yes, Paul is very happy that I’m back with my friends. He was so impressed that I was busy with you all until 11 p.m. last night. Impressed, but not surprised. Even he knows what goes on on this SB board!!!! {{{{{{{RIGHT BACK AT YA}}}}}}}}}}} Scuppernogs???? You guys are making this stuff up!!! Anybody ever eat a floopengepper???
Well, you all, I won’t be able to make the chat tonight. But I”ll be there in spirit! One of my BILs is coming in from St. Louis with two of his sons whom we adore. So Paul and I are headed over to MIL’s house to greet them. Of course there’s so much road construction between here and there, that we have no idea what time they’ll get in. We are all going to Kings Island tomorrow to spend the day. The humidity is so much less than it has been here and we are so thrilled about that. So it will be hot here, but not sickenly so.
So listen everyone . . . have a great night and a greater tomorrow. I’ll try to check in tomorrow before KI. If I don’t get on, it’s not because I’m off program. I’m just busy. Got that NANCE???? I’m a little worried about the day at the park tomorrow and eating. Guess I could pack a cooler and leave it in the car. Paul might want to do that rather than pay the exhorbitant prices they charge inside. See there . . . you all have already taken care of my worry and nobody typed a word. We have good vibes flowing over this board.
Take care.

Hey All:wave:
Thought I'd get in a quickie before chat. Got out of my meeting, just told them I had to leave. It was uncomfortable for me there, I've had horrible gas pains tonight!
QUILTER, ahhh, it really is so good to have you back! Sounds like you had a good day. Hey, 6lbs isn't so bad, you can turn that around really fast! Have a good day at KI tomorrow, my kids loved that place when we went. Here's an idea, take a back pack in with you, and pack a lunch box sized cooler with SB LEGAL foods for yourself-there's nothing there worth eating, and besides, like Paul said, the prices are through the roof!!!!! HAVE FUN!!!
BOB, oh, it was good alright-funny thing, we sat exactly where we sat when you were with us! How did they determine Skeeter was allergic to wheat???
Okay, I'm headed into the chat room!

Hi everyone :)
Well I got that closet cleaned out this morning and got rid of lots of junk now I can't believe how much room I have in there. Went for a bike ride this morning - about twenty minutes - no idea how far will check out the distance of my routes one of these days. It was a bit hard pedalling to-day as there was a bit of a wind but I made it home. Made chicken fajitas for supper today - very yummy - just fried some veggies (zucchini, mushrooms, green onions, red and green pepper) and added some cumin powder, pepper, paprika and half a jar of sf salsa. Very good and very easy.
Deb - I made the zucchini omelet this morning from the Lebanese cookbook. It was really delish. BTW, some Canadians do have air conditioning. We resisted for many years even though the kids were always nagging us to have it put in but at the time my dh and I didn't think it was necessary as the summers seemed so short. But then one day we decided to splurge and have it put in. (I guess it was age - couldn't stand the heat any more.) We even bought our first car with air conditiong about the same time. Surprised the kids. That was a necessity as it was about the time we started going on trips south during the summer months. Would have died without it.
Glad to hear that you got your computer up and running again. Do you ever delete old files or do Disk Cleanup or Scan Disk? This would free up some space if you are running out of memory. This is something I picked up from the iVillage web site and I do it once in a while. They have lots of info on Computer Maintenance. I have some of it printed out so if you are interested let me know and I can send it to you.
Kim - Glad to hear your first day back went well. Before you know it you will be back into the swing of things again. Thanks for your e-mail. I will be checking out that other author you mentioned - Anne Lamott. I think it is a neat idea to have books on tape. That's something I would enjoy while driving to work or on any longer trip. I looked for Durable Goods in the bookstore to-day but they didn't have it. I will keep looking. Are you keeping up with the Yoga? Did you ever finish the series of classes that you started? I think you mentioned that the teacher was away for a while. Hope you got to finish them. I have both AOL and MSN Instant Messenger. AOL IM was already on my computer, I just had to set it up. MSN if I remember correctly I downloaded from MSN website. Most SB members are on AOL and they have their BUDDY name posted on the AOL BUDDY LIST Board. I have brought it to the top of the page if anyone wishes to check it out or add their buddy name. You don't have to subscribe to AOL to use their IM; it is a free program. MSN IM is also free. Melf is on both MSN and AOL. We chat on MSN once in a while.
Nance - Glad to see you have got out and started walking. Debbie might like to have a buddy to walk with on the weekend so you had better get some practice in.
Fly - Hope you got the chores done early and was able to get out and have some fun with the kids. When my kids were young I always liked to get the chores done as early as possible in the morning so I had the rest of the day for more interesting things. Talking about look-a-likes. I would have liked to have looked like Audrey Hepburn (Ha Ha, that'll be the day). She was such a gracious lady. That must have been a tough time for you when you were a kid, changing schools all the time.
Rhroo - I wouldn't worry about not helping dh with this woe anymore. At least you got him started and it sounds like he is doing very well. The rest is up to him. But at least it should be easier preparing meals if you are both eating the same thing.
Fillise - I liked your TT. It is so true that we all have to take responsibility for our own actions. No one forces us to act in a certain way.
Ralynne95 - So sorry to hear about your dh getting laid off. That really sucks. Did they give any reason for the layoff?
Kymn - Sounds like you have a busy week ahead of you. Don't let mil get you down. At least she is coming when you have the house all spivved up. Good luck with the eating, just remember to take it one meal at a time and just do the best you can. How long is mil staying with you? Hope it's not for too long. O.K. so I am just starting to do some tummy crunches while I a sitting here :)
All for now.
Bye
Marie.

Good Evening
Good to see so many old names back on the board. Again now, I 'll have trouble keeping every one straight. But I'll try.
Deb, just wanted to let you know that I made the spice cake and it is really good. I want to try the Carob next. Can we have the Carrot one. I paid 2.09 for mine. But worth it!!
BOB....I understand about busy schedules, and we will manage to get together, even of we have to wait several weeks.
Well, I know that this is short, but need my shower and need to get to bed early, have to be at work at 6:00am.
Good luck to all for the weigh in tomorrow.

I got dangerously close to going off program tonight. I was at a meeting where a couple of people pushed all my buttons. I was so PO'd when I left. Then I remembered what I was telling everyone today--DUH--be proactive--choose how you will respond to those people. So when I went out to dinner afterwards I (though I was so tempted) chose not to let them sidetrack me from sensible eating. One small step. . .
Ralynne--That's a shame about your dh. Is that legal? I thought they couldn't fire someone as retialiation for beings on disability.
Kymm--good luck with the MIL. One of the benefits of being single is no monster-in-law to deal with! Don't let her push your buttons.
Kim--I cook the butter beans with just a little butter (actually brummel and brown) salt and pepper and then I cook the h**l out of them just like a good southerner should! They are my favorites!
Deb--computer withdrawal is awful! I felt so out of touch last week. When do you head for Vegas? I'm going to have to look for that SGWW pancake mix. I miss pancakes. Though I've really gotten into the pita pizzas lately. I broil mine on my Pampered Chef stone and the pita really gets "crusty." They are a very quick lunch fix!
BOB--we gonna have to get you some maters. What route do you use to get to KY?
I hope everyone has a good night. I'm going to make another cheese cake to take to another event tomorrow night.

Hello SB friends....I'm so sorry that I'm such a RANDOM post-er!!! I really do think of posting and time just runs out...and something is happening with my mother every other day. She has been very sick with some sort of gastrointestinal virus for the past 2 days...I spent 5 hours today getting her to the acute care clinic to be seen...they gave her a shot of phenergan, toradol and prescriptions for some things...feel like vertigo is part of the problem..possibly labrynthitis...which could explain the fall last Monday she had after being so dizzy. Believe it or not, through all of this starting a new school year at work, helping my Mother settle into her new home and getting my daughter off to 7th grade and starting the orthodontic process (that was today too!! (Yes, I only worked 3 hours today!!)....I have managed to stay on the SB plan...as well as anyone could who is running to and fro like a wild chicken, eating wherever I can find a decent SB meal...the poll was interesting this week...I definitely eat out way too much...but am finding new menu items to enjoy...like the broiled Alaskan flounder that I had last night. Anyway...Today I've hardly eaten at all for lack of time and no appetite after seeing my Mother throwing up all day and being so worried about her. So, tomorrow should be a good weigh in....I didn't even post last week on Wed...stayed the same weight...was just happy that I didn't gain...but this week I have definitely lost...I'm sure of it! Will let you know tomorrow.. One of these days, weeks or months, I hope to actually read everyone's posts each day and reply in person to folks.. I hope you will all forgive my inability to do that just now. If there were only 6 or 8 more hours in a day!!!

Good morning. Time for a quickie before leaving for KI. Sorry I don't have time to respond to anybody this morning, but will hopefully be back early enough tonight to get in a decent post.
Down to 174 this morning. So day ONE did the right thing. Five more pounds and I'll be back to lowest point. Last night we went out to MIL. Paul and I had already eaten supper and I was at my calorie cap for the day. Everybody was eating hamburgers and stuff. I just nibbled on some veggies and that was it. Whew! My first test of the day and I passed.
Sorry, BOB we won't be taking our bathing suits today. My BIL wants to ride the BEAST 10 times. Guess we'll be over there for a while. : ) How about if I go down the water ride for you???? At least that way I'll get wet.
Friends, have a wonderful Wednesday. I truly wish you all could have the day we're having here. It's so cool that our windows are open this morning. God, I love this weather!!!! No humidity at least for right now. Stay cool as you already are!!!
Take care.

GOOD MORNING ALL!!!!
Don't have much time again today to post. Read everyones posts though and I can't post to everyone today.
As far as my hubby No that isn't legal to let him go while he's on disability and infact, it was the day he was finally able to come back and the Human Resource Manager told my Hubby that his doctor was a QUACK!! :dizzy: Which really pissed me off!! The reason they gave my husband was that he has missed too much time and thought it was in their best interest to let him go. My husband is going to talk to a lawyer today about this. He does have an interview tomorrow and has 2 others already with a 2nd interview already at one place. Sorry Deb, there's no STARBUCKS here. Hopefully soon he will have a new job. He gets his MRI on friday and the doctor believes since he's not into sports and he's going to physical therapy that he won't need surgery on his knee. After his therapy he is starting strength training with me. He needs to build up the muscle in his knee again. We'll start him out with very low weight if any. Where I work we have a fitness center so we can work out there for $10 a month for the both of us. One nice perk!!
Cristina has ear infection in both ears and pink eye. She's now starting to feel better from her antibiodics. I can't seem to win for losing.
Anyway as far as SB that's going good and sticking to it without any problems. Last night we went for a short bike ride. Doug can't ride very long at one time right now, but it's good for his knee to do that. I haven't weighed myself, but the last time I did I was the same. Still walking at work with my friend and she lost 2 lbs last week. So she was excited about that, she does ww and SB. She's combined the two and basically eats SB, but does ww with points. The hard part is what SB says is okay, ww will not so she does go over on points somedays. She really watches ingredients now and never really did that before and watches all the sugar grams in everything. In our cafeteria upstairs they always have a salad bar and she wasjust grabbing the fat free and not thinking about it. Now she looks at the grams and has been using the raspberry oil or lemon garlic oil instead.
I've also been reading my lowfat living book which in a lot of ways says the same things as SB. This does go into more detail though on fat burner ons and offs. I've learned some new things Ididn't know before though. It's pretty interesting.
Well need to get back to work. I hope everyone's WIW is a good one and I'll weigh in later after I go find a scale in one of our other buildings.

WIW – I am up to 199, but we did eat that pizza last night and I haven’t been getting all my water in, so I’m not really too concerned right now. I’m expecting it to be back down tomorrow and hopefully even more for next Wed.
Fillise – I left my muscadines at home today. :( I was in such a hurry that I forgot to grab them. I loved your TT – in this day and time it seems like everyone has forgotten about personal accountability. We have to have it with our WOE too. We can’t keep blaming other people or companies or circumstances for OUR problems. Good for you keeping your cool at the restaurant! Had to laugh about cooking the h*## out of your beans – one thing you’ll never hear a southerner say, “Do you think I cooked ‘em enough?” My husband has learned to love my peas and beans!
Raylynne – so sorry to hear about your husband. What reason did they give?
KYMN – It will be funny to see how my mom acts when my brother gets married – if he ever gets married. There’s something about moms and their sons. I know my mil was very wary of me when Vince brought me home and then even more so when they found out we were getting married. I didn’t help. On Vince’s birthday we were talking about b’day cakes and I told her that every year my mom always made carrot cake or pumpkin cake – which is basically the same to me – and every year I would tell her I hate carrot cake, please make me something else for my birthday. Then his mom’s face fell – she had made carrot cake for Vince’s birthday!! It was awkward to say the least, but I told her that it was his birthday and if he likes carrot cake then by-golly that’s what he should have. They still don’t care for me. Oh well, what can you do? Let them eat cake!!
DEBBIE – So glad to have you back online!! I was really getting worried when you hadn’t posted, but thankfully NANCEMEISTER gave us the lowdown on the computer woes. AND you still got your walk in – in this heat?!?! YOU ARE AMAZING!!! I know we were crazy to think that the parks would be slower in August. I thought that was when they started all the FL resident specials because the vacation traffic gets slow….must be September. Do you guys clear out your cache, cookies and defrag the computer? Also, if you don’t already, maybe keep things that you want but won’t access all the time on floppy or CDs.
MELF – Made the zucchini pizza last night……all I got to say about that is ……. YUM – MEEEEE!! It was so quick, easy and good! Even in our 9” pie plate. Since the pie plate is so much smaller I have leftover toppings for lunch. :D
QUILTER – My thighs are STILL sore from those darn baseboards! I lifted weights on Monday, walked on the TM on Tuesday and they are STILL sore! I thought that exercising them some more would work things out some, but NOOOOO.…I guess I’m in worse shape than I thought. At least it’s not as bad as last time we helped friends move from a 3rd floor apartment. Sheeesh, I’ll NEVER do that again! There was a thing on Yahoo about losing weight and it said you can start again right now. That’s right – right now you can add 1 more glass of water to your day – right now you can decide that your next meal will be OP – right now you can get up and walk for 10 minutes – concentrate on staying OP right now. I thought that was pretty cool. Have fun at the park!!
BOB – talking about those fresh veggies makes me laugh. My mom used to accost us kids and make us shell peas, shuck corn and all kinds of horrible things kids hate to do. I swore that when I was older I was NEVER going to do those thing and I was NEVER going to force my kids to do those things! Now I would KILL for some of my mom’s frozen corn, Grandma’s fig preserves, peas, beans, etc…. If I knew how to do those things now I would be doing it every week-end probably. Hopefully next year I’ll be able to have a productive mini garden. I’ll be bending MELF’s ear for some tips and tricks. I NEVER thought I’d be going to those “tourist traps” willingly, much less without a bonafide tourist dragging me. But I DO love Sea World and since you can take your own food and not have to spend any money it’s soooo worth it. I just hate the traffic getting back home. Just goes to show you….Momma’s always right, NEVER SAY NEVER!
MARIE – Books on tape are the ONLY reason I don’t have road rage everyday! If I get stuck at a light or people are gawking at some car pulled over on the side of the road I just smile ‘cause I know I get to listen to one more chapter of my book. We’ve listened to ALL the Robin Cook and Richard Marcinko books. Nelson Demille is our latest favorite author. I’ll make a note of Ann Lamott and see if I can find any of hers. Our library has a real fickle selection and they change the way they organize them almost every month.
LAMAP – Don’t think I said it yet CONGRATS on that watch!
BELINDA – No need to apologize for being random! We’re glad to hear from you whenever you can get on. I hope things calm down with your mother and that they are able to get her healthy and keep it that way. My tastes have definitely changed since starting SB – when we do go out to eat (hardly ever, really) – I notice that my decision is between 2 or 3 items I would never have considered in the past.

Hi everyone- Just checking in quick since I am at work. I continue to maintain but I'm not on the TM or concentrating on controlling portions. My goal is not to gain until I get my head back on straight and get through our camping trip next week and the home construction and school starting. I did want to post the following which a friend sent to me. Everything is so true--I need to keep these thoughts in mind every day. I'll try and check back later with you all--I'm thinking of you and hope to see lots of losing posts for WIW!!!
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less. We buy more, but enjoy less.
We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.
We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night
stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.
It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete.
Remember, spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.
Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.
Remember, to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.
To all my friends in my life, thanks for being there!
Thank you to my SB friends on this board!!!

Hey - I just noticed that 3FC has a forum for PCOS support now. I'll be checking it out and thought some of you other SBs who mentioned they also have that diagnosis may want to know about it!

Good Morning!
I haven't lost anything...that's because I've only had one day under my belt of being OP, and that was yesterday. Next week I hope to be logging in a loss!
Marie
Glad to hear about you getting out and taking a bike ride. I would love to do that, but it's so darn hot here! It was 114 degrees yesterday with 30% humidity! ICKY. Doesn't it feel good to clean? I can't wait to get some things in order around my house next week!
Lamap
What brand are those cakes? Not that I need to be eating any of them, but if company comes over, it would be nice to have something LEGAL!
Fillise
Good for you for sticking to your guns. Like my DH said, you can't use emotional times as an excuse to get off plan. Don't you feel better that you didn't let those people drive you to getting off plan?

I just realized that I AM down from last WIW! 1 lb. back under 200 - unless of course that's just because I didn't update my profile last week.
KAREN - great post - it's so true and so sad. Vince has just as many calls in the "affluent" part of town as he does in the "druggie" section. He says a lot of those big palatial homes are empty inside or decorated in early attic - they look good on the outside, and they have the big fancy cars parked outside, but they are so riddled with debt to keep up appearances that they can't afford furniture and they work so much they don't even know who their kids friends are or what they're doing. It's hardest on him when it's a suspected runaway or abduction call and the parents don't even know who the child's friends are or where they 'hang out'.
NANCEMEISTER - ONE DAY OP!!! Ya gotta start somewhere and that you're even starting is something to be proud of! I'm sure the Dungeon Diva will have you at pro status before she leaves!
gonna change my profile!

Good WIW all. Still 168 and happy. Did quite a bit of losing lately. I'm thinking I may buy a small token at 160 like lamap so I have something visual to say. "I made it" like her watch. Still getting the massage though. You all have an awesome day. We're going to the movies. Haven't decided which yet though. The suns finally peeking out. It's going to be great.
Sol-gonna look for Muscadines or at least the wine. Oops is it red?
Susan-Isn't the 7 habits wonderful? It helped me with my decision to quit full time work. Awesome dinner victory! Always a biggie when we conquer our emotional reactions.
Viv-Sounds like we won't be alone at the movies on Nov 16th. Also, I forcast losts of Harry Potters for Halloween.
AR-Nothing like unexpected company. Hang in there. I know you can beat that challenge.
Deb-I must admit I would eat out every night if I could. I thought you Floridians were immune to the heat. Or do you just have the sense no one else does?
Quilter-I love your honesty and I loved the SUPERfly!!!! I'm with you on Holly Hunter. What's with it? Where can I get some? Scuppernogs & floopengeppers???? What's next??????? I thought I knew EVERYTHING about food.
Ms. beautiful Bob-no it never ends with our babies. Hope Skeeter responds well. I'm with Deb----how did they find out?
Rosalie-Ahhh Audrey Hepburn. You're right. Such grace and dignity. I'll take a large portion of that. What I failed to mention during hs was how much I learned about the world and how people may be in different places but they are basically all the same. That's worth more than reunions.
BW-yes, life will calm down. Random or not, come.
Raly-Wow on the interviews. Hopefully it will all be over soon and sue their butts off.
Karen-Your words were awesome! Wow. I would say put it on a billboard but you couldn't read that much in 3 seconds. If all of us heeded them it would be a better world. I suspect many of us on the board do heed those words.
Nance-Hot, hot, hot out there. Glad I'm here. The next installment was during our trip my bil took boys tubing so we were able to steal away for the afternoon and go for a drive. We found a quaint little vineyard on the banks of one of the Finger Lakes (Canandaigua) and took a tour. It just so happened that there was a Garlic festival there and we toured, looked, danced, and tasted the afternoon away. We bought as a memory of our trip a $27.99 bottle of Meritage. We won't open it for a while until one of our anniversaries or some other special occasion. No skinnydipping unless you count mil whirlpool tub. It was a beautiful, splendid afternoon.
Well all. Gotta go. Really enjoyed my first chat last night. I hope the newcomers make it to the board.

I just finished a long post at work and it told me that I wasn't logged in!!
I am up AGAIN!!!! :?: What's the deal?
I am 151.5, up from a low of 146, and from 149 or 148 last week. At Deb's suggestion I am keeping a food log and am laying off the SF weets for a week to see how it goes. I feel like I am eating less but gaining more. That math doesn't play!
I will post again tonight if I have interner access.
BW - PLEASE let me know what I can do to help! I'll be in touch!

Well, like others here, I am struggling staying OP. I am suffering from the repercussions of the last few weeks family upheavals. I am not making excuses, just letting it like it is. I am trying hard to be OP. Monday I was 100%, but yesterday I wasn't. Today is a NEW day.
At least I am down 1lb from last week, at 122. I am still up from my lowest wiw @ 120.5. I am okay with that.
Good luck to all of you with WIW. Take care to those of you who are trying to hang in there. You all are alot stronger than you realize. Admitting your struggles is the first step to addressing those struggles and forging on........and/or hopping on the trusty ol' wagon, yeeeeehaaawwwwwwwww. Notice the lastest version, this wagon has a/c to go along with the seatbelts:lol:

OK first things first--I'm down to 239--only 1 lb off from my low. I'm ready to get back into positive (negative?) territory again. I worked out this morning and even added an additional set to my upperbody weights. I can fell everything start to tighten up. It feels sooooo good!:D
I had a luncheon date today and made another cheese cake because my friends didn't believe a "sugarless" cheesecake could taste good. They are their words--literally! Though I suspect it was all just a plot to get me to make them cheesecake! Fortunatly they ate most of it--so not too much sitting around here calling to me!
Amseraphim--take it one day at the time--even one mealand just do the best you can!
Frog--maybe you need to put the scales away for a little while! Concentrate on eating healthy and your training and the rest should take care of itself. Besides--remember a few months ago when Deb was so frustrated with the up and down on the scale and it looking like she would never reach goal? She hung in there and eventually it went the other way and sho got below goal. Sometimes I think our bodies need time to adjust!
Fly--I try to reread the 7 habits every couple of years. Since I'm beginning this business I thought this would be an excellent time to redo the missions statement, goals, and priorities. It really does help you to "put first things first."
Sol--hey hey for 199. I cannot wait to see my scale needle dip below the 200 mark. I'm looking to you for inspiration!
Karen--loved the message. It is so true!
BW--It sounds like you have your hands full with your mom. I hope she gets over her virus--no wonder you're not hungry!
Hope everyone else is a loser today!

OSMOSIS JONES IS GROSS!!!!!
Had to get that out, Whew!!!! Feel much better now. It did have it's funny bits but glad I wasn't feeling swirly when I went in. Just had a yummy salad and now on to yard work!!! Yeah.
Dear Ms. Frog--So sorry about gain. Glad you're taking postive steps. You may want to check with pharmacist too. My doctor told me my medication I took for 3 years had weight gain as a side effect and switched me. Wish my other doctor had told me. Hang in there. The way you're going it's bound to come off..
Amser-Congrats on the loss. Especially with all on your plate lately too. I'm all for a/c in the wagon but we need a DVD player and screen too for all our chick flicks. Osmosis Jones will NOT be one of them.
Did I mention I gave up Equal. It was giving me a bad case of halitosis. I did drink 3 cups of coffee daily with it in it. So.....no Splenda or Equal now. I'm now with sweetnlow and Agave nectar. I also made a quiche last night with homemade SG pastry flour crust. IT was broccoli & cheese pour a quiche and it was awesome!!! I paired that with chicken breast marinated in soy sauce, ground ginger, and agave nectar. Nobody liked the quiche not even vegetarian son. Oh...too bad.....more for me:) .
Well, yardwork is stomping feet. Guess I'd better get at it.

Hey All!
Can't believe the day is half shot and I haven't had a chance to get on the board!
WIW-nothing exciting to report on my end, down from my last WIW, but still up 1lb from my all time low. Hope you all faired better!
I had to do my walk/jog fast this morning, only getting in 3.5 miles. Better than nothing, which was what I was going to do originally, thought since it was hump day I would take the day off-but then I thought about not being able to walk on Sunday since that's the day we take off, literally. Usually don't go on Saturdays, so I thought I better get my butt out there and pound the pavement.
Anyhow, short walk was due to having to take my car into the shop, the brake light was going on, found out there's a leak, but also needed all 4 brakes done, plus an oil change. I need new tires and my a/c is going, but that will have to wait-don't have the money to do what I did today-thank goodness for Mastercard!!
I made pancakes from the mix I mentioned yesterday. Made them a bit too thick, but they were absolutely yummy! I'm not a pancake person, probably have had them 2 times since I started SB, but I watered down a bit of agave nectar and used that as syrup on them-will definitely make them again!
Finally made all our reservations. Just got the car taken care of, not a bad rate, with taxes and everything $127 for the week with a free upgrade! The hotel we stay at is outside of Vegas, about 20 minutes. Eli and I like it there, cheap but very nice and spacious (and clean) rooms-plus, he likes that there's .25 cent roulette there-he goes down there after I have fallen asleep-mind you, he comes home like a zombie when we stay there for the whole week.
Thanks to all of you who came to the chat room last night, it was fun! RHROO finally got in there!!! FROG stayed up to join us-enjoyed chatting with you all. Hope CHANEL joins us on the board as well!
ROSALIE, the omlette sounds yummy-will have to look it up in the book. Eli is always making large fluffy omlettes that smell devine! I'm always deleting things-funny thing is, after all I deleted yesterday, I still have no space! I'm still getting this SYSTEM RESPONSE message though, so I have a feeling this is going to happen again. I tried to copy my files to a disk, said there was too much and needed a large capacity disk-don't have those. Oh well, one day, I'll really be up the creek without a paddle!!!!
LAMAP, glad you liked the Spice Mix. I am waiting to get the nutrtional information for all the cakes, so I can't say for sure about the carrot, but considering it's carrots, I'd say no-but I could definitely be wrong!!! That's a good price you paid!
FILLISE, glad to see you stayed true to plan last night-don't let anyone push those buttons! Happy to see you down again and only 1lb from your goal-yes, you'll be seeing negative territory soon I'm sure! We leave for Vegas early Sunday morning, at 5:30am! I too love pita pizzas!!!
BELINDA, glad to see your post! Please don't ever feel you have to apologize for being a "random poster"-we're just glad you can post whenever you have the opportunity. I'm sorry to hear all that's been going on with your Mother, I hope things get better.
QUILTER, see, it's not as bad as it could of been and before you turn around, you'll be under your low-I'm sure of it! I'd bet Eli on it!!!
RALY, I hope the lawyer has something positive to tell you and your hubby about what happened with him-let is know. Hope all goes well with his MRI. Poor Cristina, hope she's feeling better soon, for her sake as well as yours! Quite a few people have found success with doing SB and using the WW points, it's easier for some to keep track of their food that way. I'm curious to know though, what would SB allow that WW doesn't-I would think WW would have more things not SB legal than the other way around.
SOL, I've been getting my water in early every day, it definitely seems to help, so try as you can to drink up!! Okay, so we are both crazy Floridians-me walking in the heat, you going to SW in this heat! Trust me, I clear everything I can clear-twice in the past I found I cleared the entire hard drive! Needless to say, those two times I was definitely dying! Congrats for getting back down below the 200 mark!
KAREN, thanks for sharing those provocative and thought provoking thoughts-makes you really think! It's soooo true! I wish so much to have a simpler life in the near future, one that will not have all the garbage I have in it today-I'm passing that one on to others!! THANKS-I LOVED IT!!!
NANCE, I'm sure by the time I arrive, you're going to have a big "IVE LOST" grin on your face!!!! Keep up the positive attitude!!! It's catching on!!! The cake LAMAP liked is the one I told you about-FEARN, you said you don't like Spice, but they have a Carob flavored one as well.
FLY, glad to see you still doing the happy 168 dance:) Let us know what little goodie you buy for yourself. It's a great idea we should all do for making little goals along the way! Hey, I'd probably eat out every night if I could as well, anything NOT to cook, and not only that, not to clean!!! I've lived in Fl all my life, I'll never be immuned to the heat, I hate it!!! I gave up Equal as well last June (2000), it was causing me to have memory problems. I only use Stevia now. Have you ever tried my quiche recipe I have posted on the MAY 2000 board-it's wonderful-ask BOB or GATOR, they have both had it-and my son loves it!
FROG, like I said, don't worry about it, I've had gains that made no sense whatsoever in the past-I'm just patient and keep on trucking along, and eventually, the scales do reward my patience!!
AMSER, glad to see you back down a pound. Just making sure you do your best is what's important. Love the new wagon, must of been built by a Floridian since it has a/c!!
Okay, that's it for me for now. I'll check in later if the computer is free.
Please remember, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY so if you have any good SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share, please, try to post them tomorrow:)
Have a wonderful evening!

Hi Ladies, scale was the same for me today....144. I'll take it! :) Don't remember the last time that I posted on the weight board, so I'm not sure how much to claim as a loss. I think it may have been 146 last posted, so maybe I'll go with 2 lbs to be safe.
Sure did enjoy the chat last night with all you ladies. Sorry I have not had a chance to read any of the posts since Monday, so I can't respond now, but wanted to say hello.
I'm heading back for work tomorrow. The face is still swollen from the wisdom tooth extraction, but at least the pain is better & the Trigeminal Neuralgia seems to be under control for now. I am breathing a big sign of RELIEF! Thanks to all of you for your prayers & well wishes through these past few weeks.
Check in with all of you later.

Well...yes...I am amongst the living!
Sorry it's been sometime since I've posted. It's been a wacky week, 2 birthday parties (my two younger sisters) and one bridal shower (for a friend who has been living with her beloved for 20 yrs)...that's right...20 YEARS!! Both the bride- to- be and future hubby had me and a lot of others fooled! It seems they were only playing the part (wedding bands and all!). Anyway, it was indeed one heck of a celebration! The wedding will take place this fall.
I've been re-reading the SB book and the SB Cookbook. Deb's
motivational message hit me right between the eyes:dizzy:
I need to get my butt in gear if I'm to drop this weight..besides it's good for my overall health!!
I know deep down that unless I get this body moving...the scale won't go down. I'm joining a Monday night bowling league in September (all women) hopefully this will help a bit. Of course, I'll have to pass on the pizza and beer afterwards! Maybe a glass of chablis or a spritzer. My bowling leaves a lot to be desired....I haven't bowled in over 20 yrs. We had to quit the couples league we were in when hubby hurt his knee. Unfortunately it never improved. I am looking forward to a night out with the girls every
week. We're self employed so we're together quite a bit. I will miss watching Monday Night Football with him though....we just LOVE football!!! It's one of our favorite pastimes!
It was great chatting with you all last night..I look forward to Tuesday evenings. Thanks for your suggestions regarding the walking/running sites. Plan to check them out tonight.
Gotta go now. I will be checking in! Take good care each of you!
Ralynne: You and your hubby will be in my prayers!

OH...MY...GAWD!!!!! THANKS A LOT DEB!!!!
You just made me realize that I didn't get ANYMORE of that QUICHE when I was down there!!! AND I'M THE ONE WHO REQUESTED IT!!!! :s:
Guess I'll have to make one!!!
FLY YOU HAVE TO MAKE ONE OF THESE....TRUST ME.....Your family WILL LOVE it!!!
SUSAN I'm flying this time to KY...usually, I would be going up I-75 and getting me some MATERS would be NO PROBLEM AT ALL I'll get some while I'm in Louisville...SOMEONE will have a late garden....
ANN I've had to learn ONE DAY AT A TIME.. I'm one of those people who think the weight should be gone after a week on a diet! When that doesn't happen, GUESS WHAT I DO NEXT?
I'm now in the process of TRAINING myself to just look at TODAY...and PLAN for tomorrow...
THE SCALE DIDN'T GO DOWN....BUT IT WILL!!!! :smug:
OH...OH...those little legs are here....I'll be right back......
SKEETER'S ALLERGIES We've been battling allergies all of his life, and just assumed that he was allergic to something outside...every six weeks we go for a shot and a manicure...WELL
last Saturday his usual VET was out of town and the covering DOC
checked him out real good. He has always been plagued with ear infections, but for the last few weeks, he has been digging at the top of his ear just inside the "flappy" part...THE DOC (a woman) inspected this area, and immediately said " WHY, HE'S ALLERGIC TO WHEAT!!" which is why he licks so much....and digs at his ears...one in particular...(no ear mites for those of you about to ask)...She has put him on SCIENCE DIET LAMB & RICE....(he will only eat wet food) both his food and his cookies...MILKBONE (his favorite) is made with wheat and there was wheat in his previous food (which was perscription too)....I'm proud to say that after only five day, his little ear is no longer hot to the touch, his licking has calmed down, his breath is better, and the itching has stopped!
I'm off to lurk a little....

Whew!!! We’re back from a big day at King’s Island and I’m beat. My dogs are aching. We got drenched on the Wild Water Rapids about 4 o’clock and I never fully dried off from that. I rode just a few rides. Don’t do the biggies . . . hate that heighth scarey stuff. Paul and I left the others about 7. We both have to go to work tomorrow, plus I’m just a big wimp and get really tired after too much fun.
FYI . . . we did pack our lunch and that worked out really good. That’s really the smartest and most economical thing to do. My MIL who is also very picky about what she eats (because she’s diabetic) always packs stuff. So we went with them out to the picnic area and ate there.
I have one statement. Does anybody else think that muscadine sounds like an illegal drug? Sure does to me.
BOB---You made me LOL about paying people for committing their family members in KY. Why does that NOT surprise me????? Sorry to hear that Skeeter’s going to have to lay off his wheat intake. Does that mean no more toast crusts from Mommy’s breakfast? Bummer. Uh, excuse me . . . what’s this about you coming to Louisville???? A city that’s less than 2 hours from me!!! Were you trying to keep this from me????? You know, we CAN cross the river and take our shoes off and frolic “south of the border”. What are you going to be doing up here? Do you have time for us to meet up? Let me know!!! Paul and I would LOVE to see you!!!!! Don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep tonight because I’m pretty excited about this!!!!!!
ROSALIE---Your fajitas sound wonderful. I love this time of year when Zuchinni is in season. I could eat it every day. Thanks for clearing up the Instant messenger thing. I hope RHROO sees that and can get to talking with us. Do you ever see her on your MSN one? I hope you enjoy Anne Lamott. Let me know what you think.
FILLISE---Good to know that you didn’t let the “turkeys” at your meeting get you down. Way to stand firm. I’ll bet you were so proud of yourself after you realized that you stayed OP that you forgot about them and your irritation. Am I right? Okay, I hate to be a real dummy about these butter beans, but I have MORE questions. 1. Were they they dry kind in the bag or in a can? 2. Did you cook them in water? 3. If dry, did you soak them first? 4. If canned, did you drain them before cooking them? Please straighten me out on this. I don’t know why I’m making it so difficult. Guess I’d really like to make them and want to do it right. I LOVE BEANS!!!!! Stand back!!!!! I like your idea about using your PC stone for pitas. I have a PC stone and something happened to it and it smells really bad. I loved the way it made pizza dough all crispy. But then all of a sudden it started to stink and now everytime I use it, I think I can smell the stink in the food. Have you ever heard of anything so weird. I used non-stick spray on it and I’m wondering if that did something to it. Any ideas?
BELINDA---So sorry to hear about your mother not doing well. I sure do hope and pray that they find out what’s wrong. Terrible symptoms to live with, that’s for sure. But I am so happy and proud of you that you managed to stay on plan. That is super. I surely don’t have any excuse to go off when I compare my basically boring life to what you have going on now. Keep up the good work, you will be happy you did.
RAYLYNNE---You all sure are having a tough time of it now. That stinks about your husband losing his job. It’s truly sad how many employers can only think of their bottom lines and not their employees. I’m confident that something even better will come along for him. This is his time to really start “thinking outside of the box”. Maybe there’s something he’s always wanted to do and now is a good time to tackle it. What do you think? Good luck to you. My thoughts are with you for brighter days ahead!
SOLSHINE---You made me laugh when you said that your thighs are still sore. Girlfriend, I have been there on that one. Yes, we’ve had friends move in those god-awful walk-ups and it’s such a pain. Heck, I remember when I used to live in apartments and always needed the top floor. You aren’t out of shape. You just needed some muscles that weren’t used to such rigid activities. They come round. Hey, I LOVE what you said about “RIGHT NOW.” That is a great way to think and live. I think that could be a very helpful mantra to carry. I think we always consider starting over on Monday or tomorrow morning, but you are definitely correct! RIGHT NOW begin. I’ve been reading some books on Zen Buddhism and they talk a lot about living “right here, right now.” I am trying to do that and get out of my head with all the stupid conversations. What a great thing to tie into that concept. Change can happen now. I can be proactive NOW. Not later. Thanks for the ideas. Great stuff.
KAREN---Thank you so much for posting those words of wisdom. How true they are. That was a much needed reminder to all of us to always take time to stop and smell the roses. Hope you are able to get through the camping and come back feeling great. Take care, girlfriend. You’ll make it. We’re pulling for you!
NANCE---I agree with SOL. You have started and that’s the most important thing. You are worth all the successes you are striving for. Go and get them!!!! 114 degrees makes me feel like I’m going to vomit. I’m surprised car windows don’t esxplode while you are in the grocery store. Ugh. Hang in there. Cooler days are ahead . . . I hope for your sake.
SUPERFLY---Glad you like your nickname for this week! Youknow that’s one of my all time FAVORITE albums, Curtis Mayfield’s soundtrack to the 70’s movie by that name. Oops, I’m showing my age again. Hey, I missed something . . . what are you talking about the 7 habits? Is it that Steven Covey book? FYI . . . I just made up the word floopengeppers. But it does kind of sound like something to eat. Just being silly!!!! Also, thanks for being so positive. I love your attitude. You stayed the same and you are HAPPY. Fantastic for you!!!! You help me see the big picture. Also, your quicke sounded wonderful!!! And, loved your purple balloon flowers you posted. Those are some of my favorites!!!
FROGGIE---Sorry to hear you are up on this WIW. But I look to you for an example and take note that you are responding to this situation with your brain and NOT your heart. I hope that the food record and no sweets will give you the boost you need. Keep going, girl. I’ve got all my fingers and toes crossed for your successes!!!
AMSER---Hi Friend!!! Hey, since I”ve been AWOL for at least three weeks, I have no idea what’s been going on with your family. But I’m hoping that you will see a light at the end of this tunnel and come out feeling good. Like you said, today is your new day and you can handle it. Remember that doing your best may not look the same each day. (Not meaning to eat off program, of course.)
DEB---Why do cars do things like that right before we need to go on a trip when we don’t want to spend any extra money???? That is one thing I hate about them. They usually have terrible timing. ELI and I would have a blast on a 25 cent roulette table. What a wonder!!! Never seen one that low before. I thought $1 was low. That sounds wonderful. I’d stay up late with him to throw a few bucks in the casino toilet!!! I love roulette but have NO LUCK with it at all. What are their black jack tables like?
Hey MELF---Glad to hear you’re mean old dentist didn’t hurt you too badly. Are you sure you don’t need one more recuperation day??? You could get a lot of reading and tv watching done! Tee hee.
KELLY---Don’t think I’ve met you yet due to my time of AWOL. But just wanted to say “hello” and welcome to the group.
Gals, sorry I missed the post last night. Hope you all had fun! Also, I wanted to let you all know that I scheduled my surgery for the cysts on my thyroid. I’m having it done on September 18 and will have to spend one night. So that gives me plenty of time to blow it out of proportion and work myself into a nice ripe “state” before. HA!! Actually, right now I’m not very nervous. I’ve never spent any time in the hospital (except as a baby at birth) so this will be a different feeling. Not so sure I like the idea of sleeping in a public place with no locks on the doors. Hmmmmm. Is that weird that that’s the ONLY thing worrisome to me right now.
Well, it’s back to work tomorrow. Felt like Saturday all day today. Family will still be in town until Sunday morning. So I’m not sure how much posting I’ll get in. Will try and at least send a greeting or two. Have a great Thursday.
Take care.

Quilter - Welcome back. It's really great to read your posts again! Let's hang on to the wagon together this time and put this excess weight behind us! (figuratively speaking, of course! I don't need anything else back there:lol: ) By the way, I'm having a PC party Sunday and I will try to ask the consultant about your stone having a smell.

Just wanted to do a quick, morning hello before I head ou for the day. Have I said lately, how good it is to be back among the sugarbuster living???? Well, it is wonderful. I learned something very important on these recent wandering. Isolation from our major support only adds to our suffering. We really do lift each other up. Thanks, you bunch of sweeties!!!
KAREN---Thanks for the note! You are so nice. And thanks for thinking of asking your PC consultant about my smelly stone. Maybe there's something I can do like heat at a really high temperature or clean it with something special. Just let me know if she has any ideas.
DEB---When do you and Eli leave for LV?
Listen, everybody, go out there and make yourself a GREAT day!!! BTW . . . did I miss out on the phone round robin? If so, I definitely want in on the next one.
Take care.

Good Thursday Morning All!
My day started off early. Eli had to be at work early and I needed to get my car from the mechanic, so I got up and was out before 6:30am for my walk/jog-usual 4.5 miles in 52 minutes flat-hot as the dickens out there!
Got my car, over $300 poorer right now:rolleyes: went to the grocery store and home, have a ton of things to do today.
Pray for us here that this new tropical storm that's suppose to turn into a hurricane doesn't approach SFLA-that's all I need while I'm gone-seems we always have tendencies to get hurricanes when I'm on vacation! When Andrew was coming, we didn't have a clue, we were in NC with no tv to watch-found out the night before and raced home-don't need that again!
MELF, glad to hear your feeling good enough to go back to work and the pain from your TN seems to be manageable. :) Just 4lbs from goal-any thoughts of how you plan to deal with maintenance yet??
KELLY, glad to see your post, and to have you join us at chat the other night :) I'm sure you'll do well in the league, while having fun. A sure fire way of keeping in line is just tell your team mates that you are on a serious diet and would like them to all know that it's not that you don't want to take part in the pizza and beer, but that you chose not to at this time, and their help in making sure that no one tempts you would be greatly appreciated! I would love to be on a league-I've said it for years, just never do it. I was on them when I was very young and loved to bowl. It's funny, I'm left-handed, but bowl with my right. Saw a really cool bowling ball, think it was in Readers Digest, has an aquarium scene on it-soon they will be putting any design you want on it the article says-kool!
BOB, trust me, the quiche didn't go to waste-Michael had it, I had it, it was gone real quick! So, what are your BB predictions for tonight?? Glad to hear Skeeter is doing better!
QUILTER, never thought about it, but I guess Muscadine does sound like a drug. Sounds like you had a great time at KI, and stayed OP as well-you're doing good!! Hope you and BOB can meet when she's in KY, that would be great! Hey, I found a 10cents roulette place in Vegas-tiny hole in the wall and way too smokey for me to want to go back, but I was all over that table last year! I too like roulette, they have the 25 cents at SAM'S TOWN as well, a few other places too, not on the weekends though, weekdays it seems mostly. I'm going to be really conservative this time, I usually am anyhow, but moreso-the nickle slots will be mostly what I do-I just hope Eli hits it big somehow, somewhere! Don't play blackjack, so really can't tell you about those. I can tell you were all 3 Trader Joes' are though!!! LOL!!! We lave at 5:30 am this Sunday-gonna miss me??? One night in the hospital isn't bad-you'll do fine, just think of it as being waited on hand and foot-I'm sure you'll look mahvelous in that hospital gown!!! We didn't start the RR yet, I'll shoot for Sept and do a reminder to see who still wants to do it.
That's it for me-have to jump in the shower and start my errands. I hope you all have a wonderful day-I will def. get on here later and post a few recipes!!

Good Thursday Morning!
Two more work days til vacation!!!! Can't wait, I have vacation-idis in the worse way!
Had a little bit of a breakdown yesterday (crying). I think it's because of all this stuff going on at work. Wish I wasn't being so mental about it, but geez, when you work your butt off for someone, get told your bosses wife is taking over, but it's just temporary, and then have to go to being an equal instead of a
Manager...then MAYBE if things go o.k. financially business wise, can go back to the old way....or maybe not, that they might hire a "business" manager, it leaves you kinds feeling in a funk! I have had two occasions when I've just started crying (thank goodness at home). It's not like I have a big ego, I was actually WANTING to go back to nursing, but it just is proving to be difficult for me for some reason. I know with my hourly rate, I won't ever be making anymore $$ than I'm at now, which doesn't give me much incentive to givee 100%. Maybe it's time to move on. Maybe it's been emotional for me because I've given 4 years of 120% effort to this Dr., and now to have it all end like this? A friend of mine thinks I should go on Prozac, but I'm fine when I'm not at work! Sorry to be blabbing on and on...just seeking some advice from whoever would like to respond...anyone been in a weird situation like this?
Didn't do to well food-wise yesterday. Started out o.k. with eggs and toast, then it was downhill from there. I have to get it into my knogin that I can't turn to food to "comfort" me. That I only feel worse when I do this. When I forst started SB I did so well, the pounds where just coming off. I see others who are doing well, and know they are succeeding because they are sticking to it. I need some GLUE!!!! I'm seriously considering that maybe some counseling would benefit me. There's got to be something
wrong with my self-esteem to keep sabotaging myself like this.
GAWD!!! I really sound down today!!! I just can't help but hashing this out in my mind over and over again because I really do want to change. I know I will feel so much better if I can get some weight off. Last night there was an info-mercial on a local plastic surgeon and he had a "before" picture of a patient prior to lipo-suction and I said "OH MY GAWD, THAT"S EXACTLY WHAT I LOOK LIKE!!!!" Stomach hanging over like an apron, monster thighs, fat on my back!!!
Does ANYONE know of any good SELF-HELP books focusing on your self esteem?

I worked out yesterday – that’s 3 days in a row! Yeah! Getting back on track. I’ve decided to just schedule that into my afternoon and if someone wants me to be somewhere after work I’ll just tell them that I have an appointment at 5:15pm but I can be there after that.
Sorry I missed the chat last night. With getting up at 4:00am with Meister I just can’t stay up that late! I’m soooo old – I need my sleep! What’s happening to me?!?!? Maybe one night I can plan to stay up late to chat with y’all – it was fun the one time I got to!
FLY – The wine I’ve seen is red. I just found out they have wine made with muscadines at Lakeridge Winery here in Florida!! www.lakeridegewinery.com I’ll certainly be getting some of that!
FILLISE – Hot diggity dog on that loss!
DEBBIE – Check out the heat at NANCEMEISTER’S and let us know if it’s any better than what we have to suffer with.
MELF – Glad to hear you’re doing better and getting back to normal!
BOB – Glad Skeeter is better and you have more answers to be able to keep his little body comfy. I had a dog once who was allergic to FLEAS!!! Can you imagine?!? It was quite a joke trying different things to keep them away from our house.
QUILTER – Muscadine, illegal drug?? Maybe that’s why I like them so much!!
NANCE - I HATE to hear you so down!! It sucks working where you don't feel appreciated. We spend more time at work than we do at home during the week so it's that much more important to make sure we're doing what we like to do with people we like to work with. If you aren't happy there or at the top of your $$ can you look somewhere else? Lemmee think about some good self-esteem help and get back with you.
I've got to run, but I'LL BE BACK!!!!

Good Thursday Morning!!!! I've just had 1 cup of java so Lord knows what's going to come out of my mouth!!! Yeah, I know 11 a.m. and I'm still drinking coffee. Ain't vacation grand? I did go to the grocery store for much needed supplies (like coffee) so I didn't just roll out of the sack. Just a goodness knows great day already. Gotta go back and finish up yardwork that didn't get done yesterday. But my laundry bunnies are under control!!!!
Deb-My prayers are with you on this tropical storm and also for a safe trip. What is Lauren & Michael going to be doing while you're away? Definitely going to do that quiche, especially with Bob's endorsement. Where do you get Stevia? HFS? I also hope you win back the cost of the car repairs and more. I do think the cars and other major appliances are in alliance to throw extra monkey wrenches into our plans.
Melf-I am doing the happy dance for no more pain!!!! Doesn't it feel great???
Kelly-How wonderful for your friends after 20 years together to still want to be married (or get married)? It's an inspiration to us all. Once a week night with the girls sounds like a lot of fun. It also sounds like you are set up to win big on this weight loss. You go girl!
Bob-you are sooooo funny. Wonderful that Skeeter has probably got some relief. Although he won't have mommies crusts I'll bet mommy will have other treats for him. Be careful with the wagon in KY. I hear they have very big hills and really deep hollers. I don't want you to get lost and not find your way back here. I also hope you meet up with Quilter too.
Quilter-I'm with you on those really high and fast rides. The last one I went on at Bousch Gardens (Drachen fire) my ears were boxed back and forth the entire time. I don't need that. My body gets buffetted enough in normal living. You had me on floopengeppers. :) Way to go on the packed lunches. I still have sad memories of soggie baloney sandwiches to overcome. Ugh. I also liked Superfly so I say let our ages hang out!!! Yup 7 habits was about Steven Covey. You were dead right also about "Isolation from our major support only adds to our suffering".
rhoo-I can tell you as the last to leave chat that noone else came in We did have a good time. It was a little overwhelming with all the things to keep up with. I liked the challenge. I wish I could say I don't eat more when I'm down. I do. Sounds like you did a postive thing by working out after. Our downs make our ups look so much the better. Thanks for the kind words too. You gave me an idea. What do you all think of having a "sacrificial" scale bashing when we're together in NC. We can have all the goal reachers smash scales. I have one I want to sacrifice. We can even have those who don't want to be controlled by the scales smashing them. Just a thought.
Well, dear ladies. Got work to do. Oh, before I forget.
Viv-I started Harry Potters first book last night.

Hi everyone
Just checking in to say Hi to y'all. Wasn't able to post WIW as I had such a hectic day, working and then badminton in the evening. I was too pooped for anything by the time I got home. I was 201 lbs yesterday. Stayed off the scale this morning.
Nance - Sorry to hear you are feeling so down. I can understand your feelings after giving so much to have someone else come in and take over, even if it is the boss's wife. Maybe it is time for a change. There must be lot's of nursing jobs available although I know it may be difficult to get a 9-5 job if that is what you want. I don't think Prozac is the answer, any benefit you might get from it would only be temporary. I don't know of any self help books but if I find any I will let you know. Keep thinking of the weekend and the fun time you will have when Deb and Eli arrive. Maybe you will be in a better frame of mind to think things through after the weekend.
Kim - No I don't see Rhroo on MSN. She would have to be on my buddy list for me to see when she is on.
Have to run. Have some errands to do this morning and then I want to go for a swim before getting my hair fixed up. I'm feeling too lazy to wash it myself to-day. I'm going out for dinner and a show this evening with a friend. Her daughter is performing in a play - Steel Magnolias - at the local theatre.
Will try to catch up with all the posts later.
Bye
Marie.
PS: I have posted the recipe for the Zucchini Omelet.

Hello everyone! It's gorgeous here in east central Alabama--clear sky and NOT SO HOT! I'll enjoy it for as long as it lasts!
Kim--OK butter beans. We have a farmer's market here where you can get freshly shelled butter beans, blanched and ready for the freezer. I try to buy enough to get me through the winter. If I don't have those I usually buy frozen in the grocery store (they have less sodium than canned). Preparation for either is the same. Cover them with water and cook over medium low heat until tender (usually at least 20-30 minutes). I add a little dab of butter and some salt and pepper. That's all there is to it! ;)
I never heard of a stinky stone before--you didn't put any dish soap on it did you?
pssst--I need a muscadine fix!
Nance--it sounds like you might want to think about finding another Dr. office to work in. I have learned that being unhappy and frustrated 8 or more hours out of the day really doesn't bode well for the other 16! Have you told them your frustrations? I hope it gets better because you sound really down.
BOB--have a good trip to KY and for heaven's sake get you some maters! The scale will go down--just be patient! That's always the hardest for me--I want things right now!
Deb--don't worry about the storm. I'm headed to NC in a week or so and as soon as I even think about heading to Wilmington any storm in the Atlantic immediately heads in the same direction!
Sol--doesn't working out feel great? I'm finding that I'm a little disappointed when I wake up and realize it isn't one of my workout days. Who woulda thunk it?
Melf--It's good to hear that the wisdom tooth is healing and the other pain is subsiding. It is really miserable when one entire side of your face is in agony!
I hope everyone has a great day!

Hello Everyone:)
Well I'm back from my Family Reunion. Everything went off w/o a hitch. I pigged out the whole weekend. Before my weekend got started I weighed myself found out that I was down 12.5 lbs since starting SB (2 weeks friday 10th). Well I had a long weekend of not being OP because it was extended to Monday. weighed in Monday night and I was up 6lbs. Then again for WIW found out I was up yet another pound :( Urrrrrrrrgggggghhhhh!
Now of course I only have myself to blame but that still doesn't make it any better. I got really discouraged last night and decided to go out for CHINESE! I know bad bad bad girl. I am back OP today but need some motivation. I should have checked in here before I went for CHINESE but I was outside and it just went from there.
Every time I cheat on any (usually due to some sort of weight gain or lack there of) WOE I find it hard to get back OP correctly. Even though I know this about myself I just can't seem to fight the temptation. So far today I am doing fine. I just have to take it one day at a time. Any tips from the PROS would be greatly welcomed.
My daughter is just starting Kindergarten this year and that is another Anxiety issue for me. She has been home with me from birth to 5 no daycare or anything. The longest she has stayed away from home is 1 week when she was about 1.5 yrs old. She went to Grandma's house for 1 week. Which I called everyday at least twice a day. I am having the worst time letting go. I knew the time would come one day but I have always dreaded it. But I still have my 2 Sons to keep me really really really busy.
O' I have a few questions. Are there any lunch meats that are SB legal? I have searched high and low and can't seem to find any thing that is legal. What does everyone do for Salad dressings? I looked in the Sommersizing book and I thought about making my own but wanted to know if there was some in the stores I could get first, due to limited time. Also could someone give me a few lunch ideas? I am having the worst time with lunch. I like quick and simple things as I have to drop DD by 8:10a and pick her up at 11:05. I'm going to need something quick to fix for our lunch.
Thanks in Advance all!

Hey All!
Not much going on down here, just ran some errands this morning, not much else today. Such an exciting life!
RHROO, what am I gonna do with you!?!:?: So you're up one day, you know how our bodies are! You are so close to goal, would you just get there already-I'm waiting!!!!!!!!!!! No no, not good if the storms happen while I'm gone, my Mother will have a kinipshin, plus I have all this crap on the patio should we get a storm, no no, not good! :nono:
NANCE, just hang in there, just tomorrow to deal with and then vacation time! I'll be there soon!!!!!!!! I'll talk to you tonight :)
SOL, good for you, 3 days is great, you're def. back in the swing of things. I'm sure I'll be baking at NANCE'S house, hotter there but probably not 100% humidity-we'll see which is worse.
FLY, my Mother is coming here to stay and keep track of the kids-lucky to have her live close enough to do it and want to do it-she's always willing to help us. I get the Stevia at the HFS, recently I found it to vary greatly in price from place to place, cheapest is $3.99, most stores $5.99-I use 1.5-3 packets a day, sometimes none, but rarely ever more than that-mostly in the shakes I make.
ROSALIE, that 201 brings you down again, am I right? Hope you enjoyed being pampered today-I love getting my hair washed (and done) at the salon. Is the heat lightening up any up there?
FILLISE, as much as I hate to say it, I hope you are right about the storm-I just hate not being home if it hit, it would be terrible, who would put on the storm shutters and bring in all the crap from the patio-and there's a lot! I really hope it comes no where near us-either of us! I love butter beans too, I use canned and make them in a tomato sauce-delicious! Geez, I haven't made that in a really longgg time.
PURPLE, glad to see you back and that you had a good time all around. Now, time to get back in the saddle before you find yourself up more than you are-you had a good time, but now that's behind you. I doubt you ate that much to gain 6-7lbs, it could be hormonal, among other things, so get a grip and turn over the new leaf for tomorrow. I can totally understand when you say how hard it is for you to get back OP after blowing it-that's how I have always been, and a reason I haven't cheated since starting SB, I know me all too well and am deathly afraid to cheat for that reason, among others, like how everyone describes how lousey they feel after they cheat. But really, I guess when I look at it, there's nothing I find I miss or that I want to cheat with anyhow. I'm sure you'll get back OP-just keep getting on the board, that's motivating!!! I don't eat many lunch meats, but I found the Louis Rich Carving Board was okay, but lately, I see that it has some form of sugar in it, (forgot what), but when I bought it again, it wasn't listed, so read it. It's actually fine, it is under the 3gram rule, but I try not to buy stuff with any sugar at all in it. Also, I was told the BOARDS HEAD roast beef has no sugar in it, but I don't know that for sure since I don't buy it. Lunch should be easy-chicken, tuna or egg salad, quiche, pita pizzas, the options are limitless really!
Gotta run, taking Lauren to her friends house then Mom is coming over.

I've never had butter beans but I sure do want some now. Especially with Deb's post about tomato sauce. I'm a sucker for anything with tomatos in it. Got the yardwork done. Fighting the third sinus headache in the same number of days. What is a girl to do? Thank God for Tylenol Sinus.
Nance-so sorry I missed your post earlier. Talk about the Dr. letting air out of your balloon. It sounds like he doesn't know what he wants to do. Does he have financial woes he can't talk about? I haven't had a similar thing like that. That would be very disheartening. About self-help books I don't know about any except the 7 habits of highly effective people did help me alot to focus on what I wanted from goals and make choices from there. About self-esteem.....I bet there's not a person on this board who hasn't had the same self-loathing about their lack of control at one time or the other. That's why I'm with Deb in being deathly afraid to touch anything that is not legal and anything legal that's sweet. I know me too well. Once I start........ Also at 41 I don't want to be fat all my life and I'm tired of starting and stopping things. I'm not you but if you think counseling will help, try it. You can always stop. Let the counselor tell you if Prozac is right for you. Just check that weight gain isn't a side effect like my Zoloft was. That's all you need. What does Dan the man say about all this? I bet Deb will help you put things in perspective too. We love you!!! Hang in there!!!! Wear red tomorrow!!!!!! Or do they not make red scrubs???? Wear red underwear then!!!!
Rosalie-Hope you have a good time at the theater. The zuchini omlet sounds great. I'm going to try it.
Let's hear it for the workout queens this week. Fillese & Sol!!!!!!
Fillese-it is funny to be hooked on working out isn't it??
Purple D-I was just thinking about you today! Ok, you fell down. Now I know you're going to pick yourself back up and say I still have a 5 lb loss. Today I will be OP and I will let tomorrow work itself out. Drink lots of h20. My favorite lunches are Boars Head deli meats. I asked the deli reps which don't have sugar and then get me whatever they have. My favorite is Oven roasted turkey breast. I usually keep bagged salad around for lunch on the run and peanut butter. Nothing like triscuits and pb when your on the run. I had tuna with legal mayo and triscuits today. My favorite salad dressing is in the SB book. 2 tbsp x virgin olive oil, 1 tbsp red wine vinegar, 1/8 tsp oregano & juice 1/8 lime. Yum. Hope this helps. You'll be back to 12 in no time.
Debs-Thanks 4 Stevia info. Gonna hit hfs tomorrow. Sounds like Michael & Lauren will get some spoiling this week. What a great mom you have.
Well, dh walked in. Gotta go make supper.

WARNING!!!!!!!!!
DEBBIE'S HUMMUS IS POTENTLY EFFECTIVE!!!!!
OMIGOSH!!! I've been stifling stinking stutters ALL FREAKIN' DAY!!!
I'm sooo glad my office mate is on the OTHER SIDE of the room!! I then had a 2 hour meeting after work today and talk about torture! I had to sit there practicing my "flinching" and praying I didn't embarras myself in front of our CEO. :o
On the other hand, the hummus IS very good. But I'll give a free tip for those of you who haven't made it yet -- don't use the blender! I almost burned out our motor trying to make it in the blender. Blender schmender - I figured since we don't have a food processor the blender would be fine......WRONG!!!! Do they sell little cheap food processors anywhere? I've never used one before so it's not like I NEED one, but it would be nice for this hummus.
Okay, just had to pop in to vent. :smug: (pun intended) Gotta run now. Have a great night everyone!!

I know what you mean about the GAS!!! :o
But, I just keep air spray in my cubbie and when everyone smells that, THEY KNOW I'VE DONE THEM A FAVOR!! ;)
Check WALMART for a little food processor...I got a little "cuisenart" at BURDINES on one of those sales they have with coupons and ended up paying $15 for it...
You should be able to get little hamilton beach or oster though for a reasonable price...The little one is the perfect size for this recipe...

Well, if not, I'm telling you now! Your all the best! Thanks so much for the TLC and shoulder shakin' BOB. I'm feeling better about things. Getting my head in perspective! Took a step in the right direction and picked up an application for an Adminstrative Assistant position at the school district. Cross your fingers and toes that I can grace the personnel office and bedazzle them with my charm. I really do think I need to make a change with the job. At least that's the popular vote!
8 more hours of work til I'm officially off for nine long days!!! YIPEE!! Last time I was off from work it was for marrying Dan the Man and being on a honeymoon. That was 10 whole months ago!
Since then there's been an addition of two cats, a dog, and a new car, house fluff-n-fold in progress, son with a broken arm/surgery, and meeting up with you folks! Seems more like YEARS!!!!
Hope it's only a matter of months to get some pounds OFF! I see many of you are close to getting to your goal MELF, Fly and Rhroo!!!
Well, I need to crawl in bed and get some shut eye! Will talk tomorrow and try to catch up on some one on one posting!

HELLO LADIES!!
How is everyone this morning?
Well my husband's interview went very well yesterday and will know by Tuesday. Hopefully today or Monday he'll hear about another job too. The one he interviewed yesterday is a little longer drive, but I don't care at this point. It's a paycheck and we have got wants and needs to fulfull. Suprisingly, :?: my husband never finished high school and has done quite well for himself, but I'm pushing him to get his GED through an adult ed. I told him he's doing it whether he's working or not and no *****ing out of him. If I can work and finish my bachelor's I think he can handle that for right now. I've just been really riding his butt lately.:smug:
My son was complaining last night that he wants me to quit working because it's not fair that I don't have the summer off with him. I really wish I would've thought about it along time ago and went into something with kids. I would love to be a teacher assistant or a teacher, but doesn't mean that I can't do that. I just better finish this degree first then go from there.
My girlfriend and I have made a deal to try to lose 10 lbs by sept 18th. 2lbs aweek not an unrealistic goal at all. My hubby is dieting right now because of the weight he's gained from when i was pregnant with our daughter. Of course, he doesn't do what I do, but I buy all the food in the house so he doesn't get the bad food. I'm just waiting for deer hunting season and fill our freezer full. We eat that constantly and boy is it delicious. I'm making chili this weekend and lasagna with ground turkey and see if he notices. I have hamburger to mix with it I guess if I wanted to.
He's been making me salads every night before bed for my lunches and making sure I have everything. Can you tell he's kissing major BUTT!!
Well better go.
Take care ladies.

Good Friday Morning Everyone!
Got up a little late (7am-that's late for me), so I got out late for my walk, really didn't feel like going by that time, but figured I'm going on vacation and really need to get it in while I can cause I'll be missing it later, or at least til I get to NANCE'S. Sooo, I did my 4.5 miles, but just walking and slow.
Will be busy most of the day. Sharon came over last night after midnight and will be spending the day here today. I am going with her to meet the movers to get some of the furniture from the divorce, may prove to be interesting, just hope her ex behaves himself. I don't say much on this board since he's one that I wouldn't put past to be lurking on here!
FLY, remind me, when I come back to get you the recipe for the butter beans. It's actually from the same Lebanese cookbook that ROSALIE got, but it calls for Okra, and we substitute butter beans-very yummy! Oh yes, Lauren and Michael will be spoiled by Gamma-they're looking forward to eating, as they put it, "good food!"
BOB, hummus and quiche this weekend-boy, you're going to be cooking up a storm I see;) The quiche recipe, I believe, is on the MAY 2000 recipe board-if not, let me know. Thank goodness for air spray! I don't think I'll need it at NANCE'S house, I can blame Floyd the Farting Dog-or Eli!!! LOL!!! So what did you think about BB, I thought for sure it would be Monica! I liked her at first, but not anymore-she showed her true colors!
SOL, I was laughing so hard reading your post that everyone came into the computer room to see what was so funny! You crack me up! I guess if you aren't that use to hummus it could have a flatulating effect on you-but then again, I eat it a lot and I always have gas, so I wonder what my excuse is now! Glad you liked it, but def. need to get a small food processor. I have an Oskar Jr., not too big, just use how much hummus it made as a guide when buying one if you do. It's great for making quick salsa as well as chopping chicken for chicken salad. Did Vince like it? I plan on making it for Nance and her family while I'm there-so we'll all be tooting, though she says Dan doesn't toot his horn, I plan on changing that tune!!!!!!!!!!!
NANCE, hoping you have a wonderful day today-I'll be there soon!!!!!!!!
RALY, here's crossing my fingers for your husband:)
Being that it's FRIDAY today, I am finally getting around to posting a FRIDAY FITNESS FACT that came from a site that ROSALIE sent in regards to the GI INDEX-I thought it was worth sharing though much of this you have seen before:
The GI is influenced by:
1. The degree of processing/cooking/chewing: the more processed/refined a food is, the higher the GI. Foods which are more textured, chewy, crunchy, fibrous tend to take longer to be digested and release their glucose into the blood stream more slowly than soft, refined or pre-cooked foods. Long grain white rice has a lower GI than quick cooking brown rice and multigrain bread has a lower GI than wholemeal bread. Food that has not been properly chewed also has a lower GI – it may also give you indigestion. The method of baking bread appears to influence its GI; traditional slow rising bread dough (e.g. sour dough fermentation) can have a lower GI than breads made with rapid-rise dough.
2. Fibre type: soluble fibre slows down the digestion of starches and the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream e.g. oat fibre (oats, oat bran, oat fibre flour), fruit pectin (especially cold climate fruits), legume fibre (baked beans, lentils etc) and psyllium (Metamucil, Fybogel). Porridge has a lower GI than Weetbix (has only when bran) and plums have lower GI than watermelon.
3. Starch type: Resistant starch is a type of starch which is slowly digested. Amylose (long chains of sugars joined together) takes longer to be broken down than starches made up of branches of sugars (amylopectins). Cold cooked potato has a lower GI than freshly cooked white potatoes, new potatoes have lower GI than desiree potatoes and long grain rice lower GI than short grain rice.
4. Degree of ripeness: the riper the food the higher the GI e.g. yellow/black bananas vs. greenish bananas.
5. Acidic VS Salty: acidic foods in a meal help slow digestion of starches generally, which reduces the GI of the meal e.g. lemon juice on vegetables, vinaigrette dressings on salad, pickled foods such as gherkins. Increasing the acidity of bread by using sour dough fermentation. Salt and salty foods/condiments tend to speed the rate of digestion of starches and increase the rate of absorption of glucose and increases the GI of the meal.
6. Types of sugars: pure glucose has a maximum effect on blood glucose e.g. Glucodin, glucose syrup (used in cake/confectionery manufacture), some sports drinks, Lucozade and as ‘dextrose’ in many foods. These foods will have a high GI.
Fructose occurs naturally in many fruits, some vegetables (corn, sweet potato), corn syrup, honey. Fructose is absorbed as fructose and contributes very little to blood glucose levels. High fructose foods have a lower GI. Lactose and sucrose have an intermediate effect on blood glucose levels. Honey has an intermediate GI (58).
The concept of GI has meant that people with diabetes do not need to be as strict about every teaspoon of sugar as they once were. A little sugar added to otherwise healthy and lower GI foods, such as sugar on porridge, marmalade on grainy toast is generally acceptable. For someone with diabetes, a moderate amount of table sugar, say the equivalent of 2 tablespoons over a day, is now generally acceptable.
7. Combination of foods in mixed meals: eating protein rich food in the same meal lowers the overall GI of the meal. Protein foods delay stomach emptying which delays digestion of the starches. Spaghetti with meat sauce has a lower GI than spaghetti with tomato sauce. Foods or meals with a higher fat content will show a lower GI than those with a lower fat content. Like protein, fats delay stomach emptying. However, in the interests of overall good health, restrict the fat to monounsaturated oils used in cooking and avoid butter and other hidden fats (meat fat, fats in fast food/commercial cakes/biscuits, vegetable ‘fats’, hydrogenated fats).
It is not always possible to choose all lower GI foods. If you mix a low GI food with a high GI food, you will get an intermediate GI for that meal. Try to include a good proportion of ONE low GI food at each meal (MacDonald, Nutr Issues & Abstracts, 1995). Better to have 4-5 small meals a day containing at least one GI food than to heave fewer larger meals. These strategies will allow a slow diffusion of energy through the body, thus eliminating peaks and troughs of blood sugars, tiredness and alertness.
Remember: The GI list is a guide to relative effects of different carbohydrate foods on blood glucose levels, under research conditions. Individuals may react to individual foods and combinations differently.
Have a wonderful day and a fabulous weekend ladies! I'll check in with you all tonight.

Good Friday morning everybody
Been trying to figure out how to alter text more than one way so here's my first attempt. It's Friday and I'm still on first cup of coffee. Still at 168 and still  . So happy I'm not at 185 anymore. My clothes are loose and my large caboose is shrinking. It's going to rain here later but the suns shining and I'll take that. Going to clean up the house and play with the boys. Not sure what that's going to entail yet. Going to keep it loose. Taught them how to play Cribbage last night. It's a fun game. William (my 8 year old) had some trouble counting so this will do nothing but good for him. Benjamin is going off for the weekend with friends to a concert in Pennsylvania. I know and trust these kids but I still worry about him. He's really earned it working so hard all summer to pay his insurance and auto accidents back. He's excited & I'm terrified. I guess it's welcome to teenage motherhood. He'd better call me everyday!!!! I'll just trust God to take care of him. He's done a good job so far. Want to go as a family to see Planet of the Apes. Dh thinks it may be too much for William. Anybody see it yet? What do you think? I'm going to look around too for some parental reviews too.
Nance-You go girl on the administrative assistant. Won't it be nice to be hopefully in the school system and maybe eventually with your childrens schools. And by the way OMG, NO WONDER YOU'RE STRESSED OUT anyone would be with all the changes you'd been through this year. Take care of yourself. I think you're being totally normal. So don that superwoman cape and go get them. After your relaxing vacation that is.
Raly-My fingers are crossed and saying prayers for dh & job. He's got a lot to be proud of with his achievements and no hs degree. Sounds like 8 year old putting a lot of guilt on mommy right now. I think you're right to finish up degree. Will help all in the long run. Sounds like you've got a wonderful guy to make you lunches every night. Totally a keeper!!!
Deb-You are awesome! With all the preparations you are giving us some fantastic Friday facts. You are the best. I have no doubts Nance will be grinning by Monday (amongst other things). I can see Michael & Lauren now complete with Cheetos grins!!! Still going out today to find that Stevia.
Well, gonna go eat some breakfast. Hope everyone has a great day. May not get back on today. Compuserve is screwing up today.

Good morning ladies! I'll be brief this morning and I am awaiting a phone call to hear the results of my father's heart catherization. He will go in for the procedure in just a little while and I want the phone lines to be clear.
Last night was frustrating. I was "stalking" my supper. This is what I do when I don't plan ahead. I was out and too hungry and began driving around from one fast food place to another--not stopping just driving. I finally settled on a chinease buffet (where I can eat the meat and veggies but not the rice). I must have "stalked" dinner for at least an hour before I stopped. This morning I already have tonight's dinner thawing in the fridge--don't want a repeat of that!
My hummers are really active this morning. They always love it when I put out fresh nectar!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE! :)
Boy do I feel much better:D ! I stayed OP yesterday. I pushed it to the limits but I did stay OP.
Thanks DEB and VA BUTTERFLY for your thoughts and wisdom. O' and thanks very much VA for the vinegrette(?) receipe. You guys are the best ;)!!!!!!!!
Well I have decided to weigh in on every other WIW because I decided I can't handle it for now. I will wait until I'm a little more settled with this WOE other wise I feel that any more gains will send me flying in the wrong direction. I hope this doesn't make me any less a team player. Just know that I am still with you all just in spirit on the WIW that I don't weigh in. Besides it will probably be more of a hassle because I don't have a scale at home so I have to go out to K-mart and weigh in. I go to K-mart because they give you a print out of your weight and the date and what your weight should be. Kind of makes it nice.
Dropped DD off this morning to school. She handled it better than I did, I wanted to cry. But I maintained my composure for her. I think she will be fine. After all she took off into her class room like she was home. I was so proud. And of course I had to capture the moment on camera. I feared I'd be the only parent in class taking pictures, WRONG:smug: !!!!!!! There were parents with camcorders. I felt much better then. So then she gave me and 2 DS's kisses and took her seat like she had been doing this for years. The day has finally come. Now if I could do away with some of those fees they neglect to tell you about until the last minute!
SOL, that made my day when I read your post. I needed the laugh. I've never tried Hummus but I'll keep your helpful hints (i.e blender and gas) in mind.
Well suppose I'd better go all. Have to get lunch made for DD and 2 DS before she get out of school. I don't want to be late picking her up. Don't want school to start out a bad experience. My mom forgot to pick me up one day from Headstart  I think that whole experience has scarred. Now if my husband even dreams of being late I am just steaming:rolleyes:. Talk about DOG HOUSE!
Have a Wonderful Day Everyone
Bye:wave:

Hi Everyone :)
The weather has cooled down quit a bit here and we actually had some rain yesterday, the first time in about three weeks. Has been the driest summer for many years and we have been on water restriction for a couple of weeks. As much as we needed the rain why did it have to happen on the day I was getting my hair done - it never fails! :(
Went out for supper with a friend yesterday, stayed mostly op. Did have a little garlic bread and long grain rice but they were the only starchy carbs I had yesterday. I had them with a steak and veggies, no dessert. For breakfast yesterday I had had zucchini omelet and a seaford salad from Mr. Sub for lunch. Didn't get on the scale again to-day - what willpower eh! I think I will wait until Sunday.
Deb - I can't remember exactly what I posted for weight last week but it has been hovering between 200 - 202 lbs. So I would say no gain and no loss. I'll have to check out that okra/butter bean recipe.
I found an article on the INSULIN INDEX while surfing Aussie web sites which I would like to share with you. This is my contribution to Friday Facts. Some of it will be familiar to most of you but this is the first time I have read anything about an Insulin Index.
Glycaemic Index & Insulin Index
By Dr. Antigone Kouris-Blazos
New research is suggesting that just as all fats aren't necessarily bad, all carbohydrates are not necessarily good. And it seems the way we have thought about carbohydrates in the past, as simple and complex carbohydrates, is not very useful. The glycaemic index is a useful concept because it measures how rapidly the carbohydrates are absorbed and result in blood glucose and insulin elevations . The GI is not related to whether the carbohydrate is simple or complex. The GI measures the rise in blood sugar levels caused by a measured quantity of a particular food. High GI foods are rapidly absorbed and cause a large rise in blood sugar levels.
The Insulin Index (ID) is a relatively new concept which measures the amount of insulin the body produces in response to a set carbohydrate load in a particular food. This index is not necessarily proportional to the GI and consumption of large volumes of food with a high insulin index may play a role in the development of insulin resistance, although the link has yet to be conclusively established. High protein and high fat foods stimulate greater insulin responses than predicted by the level of glycaemia and in a study of insulin responses to 1000kJ portions of common foods, ordinary bread showed amongst the highest scores of any of the foods tested. More exaggerated insulin responses are seen when people with underlying insulin resistance consume high GI foods. Hyperinsulinaemia has recently been shown to be an independent risk factor for coronary heart disease (Depres et al. NEJM 1996; 334:952-7). Thus an insulin index of foods may eventually be needed to supplement tables of GI (Holt et al. AJCN 1997; 66: 1264-76). Both indices compare the body’s response to a food on a scale where the response to the glucose control is set at 100. Choosing foods with a low GI and low ID can improve diabetic management and may possibly reduce the incidence of diabetes complications e.g. heart disease, renal disease.
People with diabetes are used to thinking about glycaemic index, they use it to help control their blood sugar levels, but until now we have not really been aware of its significance for people without diabetes. Even though sugar per se has not been linked with any diseases of affluence, diets with a high glycaemic load have been associated with an increased risk of diabetes, obesity (especially abdominal/visceral obesity) and heart disease (Brand-Miller “The Glycaemic Index: Implications for Food-Based Dietary Guidelines” In: NH&MRC Dietary Guidelines for Older Australians, 1999).
There have been two important studies, both looking at whether different carbohydrates have different effects on risk of disease. A study on 6500 nurses in the US showed that those who consumed diets high in carbohydrate from white bread, potatoes and low amylose varieties of rice had 2-5 times the risk of developing diabetes than those who ate a diet rich in high fibre less processed cereals - even after controlling for known risk factors such as age and BMI (Salmeron et al., JAMA 1997; 277: 472-77). For the risk of diabetes, the type of carbohydrate (low versus high GI) was more important than the total amount of fat and carbohydrate in the diet. Furthermore, the total amount of refined sugar in the diet was not a risk factor for diabetes. A similar picture has emerged with acute coronary heart disease in the nurse's study (Liu et al., Fed Am Soc for Exp Bio J 1999; 12: 260). The male health professional study has also demonstrated a link between GI load of the diet and risk of developing diabetes in men (Salmeron et al. Diabetes Care 1997; 20: 545-550). In another study on 1400 British adults (Frost, The Lancet 1999; 353: 1045-48) blood lipids were more favourable with diets which consisted of foods with a low GI i.e. "good carbohydrates and good cholesterol". Such foods included pasta, legumes, oats, whole grain bread/cereals, whole fruit, minimally processed/cooked foods.
Since potatoes have a high GI and can constitute 15-20% of the total starch intake in a typical Western diet; they could be a significant factor in the total glycaemic load. Current advice to increase the intake of starchy foods such as potatoes may lead to a greater risk of diabetes (Eu J Clin Nutr 1999; 53: 249-54), abdominal obesity, elevated blood lipids, hypertension and heart disease.
Some of the so-called complex carbohydrates advocated, like potatoes and white bread and low amylose rice, are absorbed very quickly and give an undesirable metabolic response. The body tries to bring those blood glucose levels back down by secreting insulin. The high GI foods generate a demand for insulin. Since hyperinsulinaemia is linked with all facets of the ‘metabolic syndrome’ (insulin resistance, hyperlipidemia, hypertension and visceral obesity) the GI of foods may eventually be linked with all so-called diseases of affluence e.g. heart disease, obesity, diabetes. Even small physiological increases in insulinaemia for as little as 3-5 days can induce severe insulin resistance in healthy young subjects with normal glucose tolerance and no family history of NIDDM (Del Prato et al., Diabetologia 1994; 37: 1025-35). Higher day-long insulin levels are believed to promote carbohydrate oxidation at the expense of fatty acid oxidation, thereby promoting fat storage in adipose tissue and triglyceride synthesis in the liver (Friedman, Ma J Clin Nutr 1998; 67:513S-8S). Thus low GI diets may promote weight control by both enhancing satiety and promoting fat oxidation. A lower insulin level means the body stores less fat and can access existing fat stores more easily than when insulin levels are higher. An important finding of GI research is that foods containing refined sugars often have less glycaemic impact than starchy staples like bread. Moderate intake of refined sugars (10-12% energy) found in foods (e.g. cakes) or added to foods (e.g. coffee) is not associated with obesity, micronutrient deficiency or undesirable effects on blood lipids or insulin sensitivity (Anderson Nutr Res 1997; 17: 1485-8). This finding has helped to liberate the diabetic diet. However, many foods containing refined sugars also contain undesirable saturated fats and some undesirable high fat foods (e.g. potato crisps) can also have a low GI . Therefore, when selecting a low GI food one should also consider the total amount of carbohydrate, fat, fibre and salt and whether it is a nutrient or phytochemically dense food.
In summary, the lower the GI, the better the carbohydrate food is for everyone, especially people with diabetes. The exception is if blood glucose falls below normal in people with diabetes. This is more likely if you are an insulin-dependent diabetic. A high GI food or drink will restore blood glucose levels more quickly. Follow up with a low GI food to maintain blood glucose levels.
Foods with a low GI are generally more filling, more sustaining, help control hunger and appetite as well as blood glucose levels and may help with weight loss.
Athletic performance and GI
Research with sports people has shown that foods with a low GI eaten 2-4 hours before a sports event provides a slower release of energy and an improved ability to last longer in endurance activities. Pre-event low GI foods are now added to high carbohydrate loading practices which are used up to 4-5 days before an endurance event. The GI index in foods is unlikely to influence performance during an event, as most athletes these days take quick acting glucose through glucose polymer drinks to replenish energy supplies while they are competing. ‘Re-loading’ however, after an athletic event to ensure maintenance of high energy levels for ongoing training, is still seen as important in sports and high GI foods are recommended for post event replenishment. Bread, potatoes and other high GI foods then, may have more value after the event than before, when fruit sugars and legumes are more likely to be useful.
Have to run. I have some cleaning that I just have to do to-day. Can't put it off any longer and I hope to get out to badminton by 1 p.m.
Bye for now. Have a good day everyone.

NANCE – DAN THE MAN WILL INDEED BE TOOTING HIS HORN IF HE EATS DEBBIE’S HUMMUS!!!! I hope you find the perfect job for you very quickly!!! I used to be a sales rep and the teamwork in my office was non-existent; the people taking care of my orders were always screwing up and I was constantly eating sh*# from the customers because I was their only point of contact. They didn’t care who’s fault it was – just that things weren’t right. (and rightly so!) After a few months of going home crying every night I decided that was it – no more! My quality of life should be better than that and – scary as it was – it was time to move on. I found out one of my old managers was HR director at this little company, called him and told him what I was looking for (hadn’t seen or talked to him in almost 10 years!). I came in for an interview – and I’ve been with this wonderful company for 3 years now! You can do it!! You’ve had TONS of changes in one year! That would stress anyone out! Even good changes can take a toll on us. Hang in there, Girlfriend!
DEBBIE – I’m constantly inspired by your determination to get that walk in no matter what. Vince did like the hummus – I think he wanted to take the rest of it for lunch, but I got it. :D
RALYNNE – That’s great news about your hubby’s interviews! I’m hoping for him to find the best job!
FLY – I remember my mom being nervous when I would go out of town with my friends. So you don’t panic, I’ll wait till he gets back to tell some of my stories. He’ll have fun and it’s good that you trust him, sounds like he’s worked hard to earn it.
FILLISE – I had to LOL at your “stalking” your dinner. I’ve done that so many times! Sometimes I get so frustrated that I don’t eat anything which is just as bad as what I might have gotten since my body goes into starvation mode way too easy. I wonder if hummers would come if we have a couple of cats who cut through our yard all the time. I love watching them!
PURPLED – My mom was ALWAYS late for EVERYTHING!! My brother and I would back everything up by 30 minutes and yell at her incessantly to be on time – never worked. For her birthday a few years ago Daddy organized a “Roast” for my mom. EVERYONE who came brought an alarm clock wrapped up as a gift. She’s a good sport. My brother and I wrote these long ‘roasts’ on her and e-mailed them to my dad since we couldn’t be there and – wouldncha know it – we were the ONLY ONES who did it! Everyone else said, “I just couldn’t say anything bad about Pam………” Too funny!
MARIE – Thanks for the insulin stuff. You are one informed lady! I love your posts!
BOB – DEAR SWEET BOB, It’s sooooo good to have a good picture of your funny self to go with your delightful personality!! From the smile on your face this must be BEFORE she put you in the dungeon! Both of you look absolutely wonderful!! Can’t wait to see NANCEMEISTER’S mug, too!

I have been lurking for awhile and could no longer resist getting registered with you all.
I have been on SB with my dh since 6/4/01. He is at 212/185/??, and I am 157/148/125. I have been following pretty strict, but it is just much more slow for me for some reason. I am having a little difficulty with my thyroid meds and they are tinkering with the dosage (they keep increasing it), so I hope that getting that back to normal will help stabilize my system.
I have 2 boys, 9 and 4 years old. They keep me pretty busy. Both are about to begin playing fall baseball! The little one had his first practice last night and it was so much fun to watch!
Hope everyone is having a great Friday!

Hey! I just got back from the gym--so I've gotten my three weight and cardio workouts in for the week. I've also mamaged to strong two weeks in a row with the workouts--it feels so good to be back active again!
I heard from Mom earlier this afternoon and my father has some blockage in one artery. They will do an angioplasty next week. I think I'm going to head to NC to be there when they do it, but I'll take the laptop with me so I can stay in touch.
TVthatsME--Welcome! Always glad to have another Alabama chick on the board! Where are you--I'm in Auburn WAR EAGLE! It sounds like you and hubby are doing quite well on this WOE. I think you are doing fine with your weight loss--men always lose faster than women (the bums! ). This is a great group of women!
Sol--I have stray cats all over the place (students have a bad habit of just abandoning their cats when they leave town and they are breeding likewild fire). They don't bother my hummers a bit--I've got one on the feeder now!
Marie--Thanks for the really informative article! I guess you know we are all "hungry" for anyhing that educates us about our WOE!
PD--Soglad you survived DD's first day of school. It must be traumatic!
Got to go--all this talkabout butter beans has me hungry for some--so off to the farmer's market!

Hey, all! Just doing a quick report. I had to work some today since we took off on Wednesday. Have been visiting with Paul's brother and his sons all week. Sure is good to see them. But that means very little time to read and post. Just wanted to assure you that I'm still here and working on each day and each meal at a time. MIL said we're cooking chinese food tonight. I went ahead and cooked some brown rice so that I can enjoy! There will be LOTS of stir fry veggies and I think she's cooking a pork loin. Mmmmm, I'm ready to go now.
I don't know how many of you remember my good friend who found out she had breast cancer a while back. Her name is Jackie and she JUST finished her chemo this past week. Now she's found another lump and has to go in for more surgery on Monday. ABSOLUTELY CANNOT BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING!!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE if you are a praying person, send up a few prayers for her safety and her health. We are hoping and praying and really focusing on it being scar tissue and not a tumor. It's in the same vicinity as her previous lumps so there's a chance that this might be. She's a wonderful person and I hate that she and her family are going through this. Anyways, I certainly know how much power there is in this board, so that's why I put it out there for you all to work your magic on!!! Many thanks!
Anyways, just wanted to send out a BIG HELLO to everyone and wish you all a wonderful weekend. Tomorrow is tutor training all day and then over to MIL for a cookout and then bowling. So I won't have free time until Sunday. Whew! I'm tired all ready. I'll talk to you all then.
Take care, my friends!

You know I can't stay away. You all are like a drug!!! ;)
I haven't told you all about my cat Mitzi. She has been having accidents and vet today says uti and gave antibiotics. But I was also told I need 1 1/2 litter boxes per cat. I'd like to see a cat use 1.5 boxes. I decided to go from 2 to 3 as well. No way I'm doing 4 boxes. So I'll be spending more time with the litter. :( She's worth it. Who knew I liked her so much? My family was worried it was time to walk the long corridor. All you with pets know how much fun it is to put them in a carrier. I crept up on her while she was eating and apparently she didn't detect me. Because just as my hands were by her sides she lept straight up towards the ceiling. She did it so suddenly that it scared both of us to death. I didn't have the heart to try to capture her for another 30 minutes for fear of giving her a coronary. I had to finally drag her out from under our bed.
Good luck to dad and his surgery. I'll say a prayer for him. Stalking food was soooo funny. I do that too and that is really an appropriate description. It sounds like a wise choice to settle on too. Have fun with the hummers.
PD-wonderful on your staying on program. Weighing is such a personal thing. Do what's right for you. So glad your dd had such a great beginning to elementary school.
Rosalie-I'm sorry about the rain and the hairdo. Hope it still is nice. How was the show? Thank you for the great information. Your seafood salad sounded really yummy. Did you have any kind of dressing?
Sol-always want to do your color in yellow because of your "sunny" personality. Probably would be too bright. OH well. I'll just have to put in  . Hurrah for your bravery to take the plunge and make a great change. I also had to listen to a lot of complaints in my old job. Definitely NOT WORTH IT!!!! Thanks for waiting to tell me about your teenage years. I would love to hear the stories. I remember all the stupid choices I made growing up. One of which was the "pit" stop in bear country I told you all about.
Bob-your picture with Deb was wonderful. Didn't see any whips and chains. Were they cleverly disguised????
TVthatsme-Welcome!!! Aren't boys grand? I have 3 (16,11 & 8) and I love watching them play ball. Hurray for your 9 lb loss so far!!!! Hope they get the meds right soon. Aren't men disgusting.....losing so much so quickly.
Kim-Can I come to MIL too???? Chinese sounds yummy. I said a prayer right away for Jackie. That sounds too cruel to have to go through.
Well, night all. Couldn't sleep last night and I'm fading fast. Viv-I'm on chapter 4 now of HP #1 book. It is fascinating. Who would've known.

Hi everyone
Sol - I can understand your predicament after eating the hummus. I always try to avoid that kind of food if I know I have a meeting. Reminds me of badminton last week, almost every time I bent down to pick up the birdie there was a clap of thunder. I just ignored it like nothing happened. Thank heavens they were not stink bombs! I know what you mean about the blender and the hummus. I tried making falafels once with the blender - that was a disaster.
Kim - So sorry to hear about your friend. I will be sending positive thoughts your way.
Fillise - Glad to hear the weights and workouts are going so well. It's good you can go to be with your parents during your Dad's surgery. I am sure they will welcome the support.
TVthatsME Welcome to the board. It looks like you have made a good start on this woe and you're lucky that your dh is following it with you. It makes it so much easier when you can both eat the same. The guys always seem to have an easier time losing though.
Purple Delight - Glad your dd's first day at school went well.
Fly - I had to smile about the cat and the 1.5 litter boxs. It reminded me of all those people walking around with 2.3 children. The show was quite well done. It was an amateur performance which was co-produced by my friends daughter and she had one of the leading parts but I did find it rather boring. Perhaps if I had seen the movie (it was Steel Magnolias) I might have enjoyed it more. I don't usually add any extra dressing when I have seafood salad, there is usually enough in the mixture already. I don't know how 'legal' the dressing is that is on it but at least having the salad is better than having it on a bun.
Ralynne99 - Sending good thoughts out to you and hubby. Hope he is successful with the job applications.
Nance - Have a wonderful holiday - you deserve it. You need a rest from all the stress you have been having. I am sure you will be able to dazzle them all when you go for an interview.
I've just spent the evening playing dominos with my gd. Gave myself a headache trying to figure out how to play as there were instructions for half a dozen different games. But at least it was a change from playing Snakes and Ladders.
Bye for now.
Marie.

Good Evening All!
I did a monster post this morning that got lost in cyberspace. One day...maybe when Deb comes I will learn the finer art of cut and paste!
Debs....EEEEEgads! Get that laundry done. It's bad enough seeing myself naked, not you too! The son has been kind enough to offer you and Eli his bedroom if it, and I quote "Doesn't scare you" (FLY knows what I'm talking about)
Bob-I don't have a movie for tonight. I'm kind of a vegetable so I might read......then go nighty nite. I really want to see "The Gift" and so does everyone else at the video store because IT"S NEVER IN!!!! Maybe I'll get lucky tomorrow (get your mind out of the gutter, Dan the Man isn't here!)
Fly-You are so cool. You are my mentor. May my life mirror yours some day! Why do you have to live so far away? Tell me what it "feels" like to be 168 so I can start some positive thinking!
I am fading fast......need to be a couch potato and watch tv! Long long week for me. It hasn't hit me I'm on vacation yet...maybe tomorrow when I wake up, and for sure when Debbie shows up at the door dragging my butt to Trader Joes!
Talk with you ALL tomorrow!

Good Evening to all
Thank God it is Friday..Glad to have this week bei=hind me, but it is not really over.
I am on call at work this weekend and I have tons of work to do for the computer system
so I will be going in to work bith days. This will hlep make up for the fact that I won't be at work
on Monday or Tuesday. I am taking my son to have his wisdom teeth pulled on Monday morning.
Funny, he lives on his own now, but he wants me to take him. Of course I won't mind, once
a mother, always a mother.
Nancemeister....Great minds think alike. I was teaching my self tonight how to cut and paste and
have two windows open while posting. Seems to work out well. Hope
you have a great visit with Deb. Hope you enjoy that vacation.
Deb...Can you believe that I taught myself how to cut and paste and post with
two windows open. Can you tell I am proud of myself. I found the cake
mix in Publix yesterday. I bought the Carob flavor, and it was only $2.19.
I hope that it tastes good, like the spice did.
Fly....good luck with the litter boxes. I have a dog and sometime I really wish he could be taught to
use a litter box. Then I wouldn't feel guiltly of it has been awhile since I've been home.
BOB....Boy you do like the movies. I never used to watch them. It has something to do with my screwed
up mind feelinglike I haven't done wnough each day to have the reward of watching a movie. I am feeling different
from that now, and have rented some over the past month or so. It is really relaxing sometimes. When do you leave
on vacation???
Quilter....I surely will put Jackie in my prayers. It is do terrible for her and her family.
I will pray the it is just scare tissue.
Fillise....Sorry to hear about your dad. It is good that you can go to NC to be with him and
your mother. Good going on the two weeks of workouts.
TVthatsME....Welcome to this board, and on the progress that you have made already. I can understand
about having the thyroid meds tinkered with. They have been tryong different doses on me for a couple of
years. I think just whne I got fairly stabilzed, then I had starting losing all my weight, and then he had
to adjust it again. But I reather him have to change doses than not losing weight!!!!
Rosalie...that was a very interresting article that you posted.
Purple Delight...so this is late, but welcome to the board. I loved your story about your daughter.
Brought back memories of my son's first day of school. ANd that was 15 years ago. My how times flies.
Solshine...you story is a great wxample of how you never know what is going to happen>
ANd most of the time, a difficult period inspires courage and change and then things are better.
Or should like at reality.
Well I really need to get going, I want to get up earlyu and walk before I go into work, and before
it gets to hot here. But then I think that would mean that I should go walking now. It is never cool
here lately. I wish all a great day and a super weekend.

Thanks to everyone who has expressed concern about my Dad. He seems to be fine after yesterday's procedure, though not particulary thrilled about doing it all again next week. For a 74 year-old man I think only having one artery partially blocked is pretty darn good! He's never had any blockage before--so all in all I think we can handle this. I do appreciate your concern and your prayers!
Kim--My mother was diagnosed with BC two years ago. About 3 months after she finished her radiation treatments she had to have another biopsy--it was scar tissue! I'm hoping and praying that it is the same for your friend! I'm sending an angel to watch over her!
TV--I used to live in Huntsville! I bet hubby is on pins and needles waiting for THE LETTER.
BOB--yeah, it's no accident that my nickname is "hurricane Hattie." I almost feel like I need to take a uhaul full of ice and wather just in case!
Fly and all the other Harry Potter fans--I LOVE the HP series. I've read the entire series twice! I've given a set to each niece. When # 4 came out it was me an 300 10 year olds at the local bookstore at midnight. Has anyone heard when # 5 is coming out?
Deb--Have a good trip! We will be anxious to hear about your adventures.
I'm off the to farmer's market for some maters and butter beans (didn't quite make it last night). I got some Gwaltney 40% reduced fat bacon (with no added sugar) at Kroger last night so I'm thinking a BLT for lunch!

I'm off to the grocery today to get everything I will need this week. Good Saturday Morning to you all!
:) It's great to see the board so active!!!
Well Deb: You go win big girl!!! I love Vegas!! Especially the hot dry weather. I'm asthmatic and the cold weather here in New England brings on some real bad attacks. I don't need to take one bit of medication when out there...and I love that indeed!
Come my senior years I hope to do 6 mos. there or Arizona and 6 months here. Time will tell. Enjoy every minute and know we'll all be thinking of you and Eli! :)
Welcome TV...this is one great bunch of gals! You're sure to enjoy it here..I know I have.
Fillise: Glad to hear your Dad only has one artery that's blocked. Two years ago my dad needed a triple by-pass. He wasn't one to ever visit the doctor. I'm glad to say he's doing much better since the surgery.
Sol: I just loved your attachment. It gave me a good laugh...thanks for sending it along! ;)
Nance: Glad to see you've decided to move on
I will pray that God leads you to the right position.
Raylynne: Keep us posted as to how you and hubby are doing. You also have been in my prayers!
Purple D: Yes indeed you get right back on track again! We're here to support you gal all the way!!!
Quilter: I will certainly add Jackie to my prayer list. I have family members also dealing with cancer so I know the stress it can bring about.
Well, I've gotta run.....the vacuum cleaner is calling my name (not that I want to answer) but the dust bunnies are accumulating like crazy!
You all have a great day.

Good Saturday Morning Everyone!
Thought since I was up early and had a few extra minutes I'd try to start a post.
Before I forget, I picked up a book at the library that I'd like to recommend. It's called SLOW FOR SURE by Sandra Dalka-Prysby. Basically, it's about this woman who lost 170lbs, not on SB, but just a basic healthy WOE. Her insight sometimes really hits home. I've just about finished it, it's an easy read-but I would recommend it if you can find it at your library :)
The scale is up for me today, which I knew would be since yesterday I felt extremely bloated and my pants were cutting into me. Almost mid-cycle, so I'm blaming that to be the culprit.
I can't believe we are leaving in hours, I still haven't done anything, but I'm always last minute, so I don't know why I'm fretting-things always get done.
The one thing I really wish I could take with me, that I won't, is my scale! I hate not weighing, not knowing, and not being able to put the correct information into my Weight Commander program-it will average it out for me when nothing is entered). I guess I will make it through this!!!
NANCE has so graciously offered to start the board for us on Monday (okay, I begged her and she accepted-I think she thinks I'll go a bit easier on her when I come! LOL!!!!). I will load the WIW board and the EXERCISE BOARD today sometime and she will do the main board for Monday-THANKS NANCE!!!
Kids saw RAT RACE yesterday. I had seen that they interviewed people coming out of it at a premier showing, everyone said they laughed a lot-kids said the same. They said it was hysterical and want to see it again-we'll probably see it as well (Eli and I).
FLY, Cribbage, I've never played, sounds like an interesting game. My son saw Planet of the Apes, said it was okay. There's a wonderful website on the net called KIDS IN MIND that has parents rate the movies that I go by a lot, here's the link: http://www.kids-in-mind.com/ Check it out!
FILLISE, that was interesting about your "stalking dinner", at least you didn't stalk fast food and thought about it for an hour! I seem to do that in my fridge most days! You sound like you're really doing well with your workout schedule-keep up the great job! I hope all goes with your Dad's procedure, I'll say a prayer. Let us know how things go!!!
QUILTER, yes I do remember about your friend and the battle she's been fighting. Sorry to hear about the possible reoccurance. I'll say a prayer for her! Hope it will be okay.
BOB, didn't crop the pic as I took it off the KMART website, plus I was in a hurry to get it up there-do you like???? Ate a falafel for you today;) Hey, are you making short jokes????????????? We leave tomorrow morning at the ungawdly hour of 5:30am, change planes in Atlanta and then to Vegas. We leave Vegas on Tuesday and will arrive at Nance's house after the dinner hour. Have fun cooking and let me know how everything comes out!!!
DELIGHT, I'm calling you that instead of PURPLE, as you're a delight to have on the board!:D Glad to see you back OP yesterday! Doesn't that empowerment make you feel good!? Don't worry about WIW, you do what you feel is right for you! There are no rules on the board that says you have to weigh on Wednesdays, so don't give it a second thought. I totally understand and wish I wasn't glued to my scale as I am. Our bodies fluctuate for many reasons and it's hard for us to comprehend at times when the scale goes up and we've been OP 100%-but it happens a lot, and this I speak from experience. I've learned not to do anything during these times except to keep doing what I always have, and be patient, and it pays off! Glad to hear both you and your daughter survived the 1st day of school!!!
ROSALIE, we too have been on water restrictions down here as well. This year has been dry and our water resource, Lake Okechobee has fallen to record lows. When the rains come, we moan and groan, but know we need it-and yes, they always seem to come at the time I am going out or coming in-but would really hate it to come after having my hair done-I don't mind getting everything else wet from the neck down, but not the face and hair!!! Thanks for posting the FF!!! You crack me up as much as SOL does. Your description of your "clapping" had me laughing!
SOL, fighting over hummus? You'll have to make double batches next time! Did you eat it with WW pita? Sometimes, if I don't want to eat too many carbs, I'll eat it on celery, very good! Falafels are good too-easy to make from a mix, and since you have the tahini, you can make the sauce for the falafels called TARATOUR, like a thinned down hummus minus the chickpeas! Yes, I do try to get in that walk, even when I don't feel like it, and it sometimes amazes me that I get out there at times I really don't want to, but I know that this is one of the keys to success and that's what I want-success in conquering this weight problem:)
TV, once again, I WELCOME YOU TO THE BOARD!!! That's wonderful that you have your DH doind SB with you, makes things a lot easier. Yes, unfortunately, men do lose weight easier than we do, just another unfair thing about men and women-wish they were the ones to have TOM and not us! But, then I also look at it, at least I don't have to shave on a daily basis! LOL! As for losing slowly, it's really the best way. It could be from factors beyond your control, but do make sure you are eating enough, cause this can hamper your losses, and this you CAN control.
Just got back, so this is a continuation of what I started this morning
Went to a few garage sales, not much out there and didn't go to all on my list, bought a few items, nothing too exciting or expensive! Went to the JCPenney sale they had today-got some great deals. They had some shirts at 25% off, plus another 10% until Noon, plus I got my 20% discount (from the ex), also, my stretchy pants, 40% off, plus 10%, plus 20%-those were a great deal!!!
I am going to start some laundry and start getting things ready to pack-I have so much stuff that I am taking, but most I won't be bringing home-it's staying at NANCE & DAN'S!!!! But of course, who knows what I'll be bringing home!!!
I heard from SEF (Shirley), she just got home yesterday and will be back on the board when she gets settled back down-[b]WELCOME HOME SEF!!!
NANCE, counting the hours down, literally! Faris is such a sweetheart to offer his room-if I could find the blackmailing picture I have of Michael's room, I'd bring it, then you'd understand how nothing could shock me-though I must say, at this moment, he is cleaning (cause I was threatening!). As I told you before, we don't like putting anyone out of their rooms-so remember that;) Oye vey, what I am bringing-oh, guess what, I got the Monsterra!!!! I was thrilled when I found it at the fruit market today-just hoping it doesn't ripen before we get there!!!!!!!! After I finish this post, I'm def. going to get on the ball and start doing stuff to get ready. Of course I'll teach you how to cut and paste-that's the least I can do!!!
LAMAP, and I'm proud of you for teaching yourself how to cut and paste!!! We sound like kids!!! I can't believe Publix in your area carries the cake mixes, you're so lucky! I haven't made the Carob one yet, so I'll be counting on you to provide us all with a FOOD REVIEW!!!
KELLY, thanks for the vacation wishes! I'm sure I'll be sweating my rear off in LV & CA-Nance says it's hotter than where the devil lives! I'd much prefer the cooler weather-want to change places???
Well gals, I'm outta here for a while. I'll do my bestest to get back on the board one last time before I go to bed this evening, all depends how I bide my time left.
If I don't get back on, please know that I will really miss you all!! Of course, I have the opportunity to get onto NANCE'S computer and say hello, but I really don't want to take the time away from being with them to go on the computer-before I turn around, easily and hour is gone, I'm sure you all know what I mean.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week next week and you all keep the board active without me. I also hope that I come back to see good news on the WIW board (no pressure there, eh?). I promise to take pictures and give you a full report upon my return. I also promise to give NANCE & LDBLOND (as I'm hoping to meet her as well) a big SB HUG from all of you!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!! :D
Out on a shopping mission today...needed to get some birthday goodies for my "partner in crime" ANN...You all have heard Debbie mention her before.. Monday is her official day, so as usual, I've waited until the last minute and had to hurry..
Went to the Penney's sale like Deb...Did you all know that their
"CRAZY HORSE" brand of clothing is made by LIZ CLAIBORNE?
Found four tops at a good price...got myself some thigh hi's and some new "scuffies"....found (what I call) slop around
shirts in the men's dept marked down from $30 to $12.99....
I'm watching A HOUSE DIVIDED and so far, I like it..
About a Slave girl who gets pregnany by the plantation owner and the daughter is born white and passes for white all of her life.
When the Father dies and leaves the plantation to the daughter, his brother goes to court to block the will because the daughter is
black/white....Will tell you no more...
Got caught in a storm today and didn't get my groceries so I didn't get to make my quiche...will do that tomorrow..
Off to watch my movies...
HAVE A GREAT TIME DEBBIE...I've got a call in to ELI cause I think you're planning on leaving him at Nancy's and Dans house!!

Hi everyone! Sorry I have not been able to get to the board the last several days. Sure did miss all of you. I did take a really quick glance at the posts since Wednesday. Sorry I just don't have much time to respond, but see that the Dungeon Master is about to head Nancy's way (cheer up girl, praying that things will soon be better for you at work) & Solshine is gasing her co workers. LOL
Fellise glad your dad will be ok.
BOB keep up the good work.
Rosalie Copied your article to bring to work with me so I can read it & share it with a co-worker who has diabetes, BS in the 300's & refuses to take the time to go to the dr & get on medication or even follow a diabetic diet.
TV WELCOME to the board!
Delight Welcome also.
Rhoo Happy Anniversary!
Butterfly HI!, I agree...this board is like a drug...keeps us coming back for more...hehehe
Kim Great to have you back on the board. Love to read your posts. You always keep me in stitches.
LAMAP don't work too hard!
Debbie Hope you have a great trip.
VIV Hi, how are you????
Gator Gal, are you still on vacation?
ANN Hope your GM is home from the hospital & you doing ok. Thanks for the emails.
Hope I didn't miss anyone. If so, it wasn't on purpose.
Well gals, I need to go to bed. Have another long day of work tomorrow, but couldn't let another day go by & not say hi. For those that asked, yes, my mouth is feeling better from the extraction. No bruising, just slight sweeling & discomfort remains. The TN has not flared up at all for over a week now, PTL!!
Have a blessed & Sugar Free Sunday everyone! Nite

Hey All!!!
Well, it's Saturday night and just wanted to check in. Our family is leaving tomorrow morning early, so we said our goodbyes tonight. It's been fun with them. Spent the evening bowling! Right at the end of our second game, the lights went out in the bowling alley. Wow!!! That was exciting. No body knows what happened but they were out for about an hour. Right when we were leaving, they came back on so we just took up where we left off.
Anyways, I'm really pooped. And haven't read anything for a couple of days. Tomorrow I am vegging all day so will have plenty of time to post! Talk to you then.
DEB if you come back to check . . . HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!!! We'll miss you.

Good Sunday everyone! In the middle of WNBA playoffs and reorganizing room
My prayers for Deb & Eli on their trip. Hope it goes really well.
Bob!!!=Loved Bounce but hadn't seen any other the others. Thanks for the reviews. Ok.....is Starbucks really worth the extra $$$$$??? The whole beans are $7.99 for a 1 lb bag and it stays there. I will try it if you say it's worth the $$. Would love to play in Williamsburg with you if you don't mind my two boys coming along. Let me know. What's Eli's salad? Hope the Vols have a good season.
Deb-That was a picture. Arriving at Nance's naked. Glad "Chantal" is going to miss you. Hopefully she will miss everyone else too. Thanks for the "Planet of the Apes" link. I don't think I'll take the 8 year old there. Dad and older boys will have to do it.
Rosalie-Do take the time to watch "Steel Magnolias" when you can. Sally Field and Shirley MacLaine were awesome as well as all the other fine actors. Snakes and Ladders reminded me of "Candy Land" **** I was in in New York. My 8 year old still loves that game. It takes "forever"...... How is dd & grandkids? I pray I see my children as often as you do when they leave home. I've had nightmares of my boys leaving and never coming back... That's why I'm improving my cooking skills. Maybe free food will bring them home.
Nance-How is Ferris' bedroom? Where's Dan? 168 doesn't feel as good as 126 will I'm sure. But I do feel lighter. So of course I'm sitting here eating Triscuits with Easy Cheese on it. Had the munchies for the last two days. What's up with that??? :o Thanks for all the wonderful words. We all make a great team don't we???? I'm so glad we all wandered in here.
lamap-What a drag working on weekends. Hopefully it won't be too busy. Just busy enough to not be boring. You are the computer wizard with the cut & pastes with two windows open. I can say that too but mine are attached to my house  . Litter box wasn't as much as a bother as I thought. When you do 2 what's another one? Mitzi hasn't had an accident yet. But it's been fun giving her her medicine. Guess it's worth all the scooping. Too bad it's not ice cream.
Fillese-so glad your dad is ok. How was that BLT? Sounds good to me. Glad to know we have another HP fan. Haven't heard but there's two in my family eagerly awaiting #5. It will be interesting when it comes out. We'll have to draw straws or something.
Kelly-I have "killer" dust bunnies under my bed. You are welcome to attack them when you are done.
Melf!!!!-Welcome back. I will pray for your friend too. Just watched a bio on Mary Tyler Moore and they said when she went to dr she had BS of 750. They were wondering how she was walking around. Hope you stay painfree!!!! No more trips to DR. Evil for a while
Quilter-Lights out in a bowling alley? I have to know...was there an echo??? I bet you could've heard a pin drop.
 Glad you got to finish your game.
Well, I'm down another pound and son's on his was back home. Won't stay down if I keep eating these Triscuits and cheese. Had a really great cantalope today too. Better get to drinking my h20. Better get a grip before I have to go to the dungeon.
Bye 'fly

Hi everyone :)
Hope you are all having a good weekend.
It's been a very wet one here. Has been raining most of the day and I was out this morning watching one of the gs's play in a soccer tournament. I watched half of it sitting in my van.
Bob - I checked out Walmart for Wiley's seasoning but couldn't find any. Your stores probably have a bigger food section than we have here. Have fun with the hummus. I made falafels for lunch to-day so the fun should start soon. I pity the poor kids I am babysitting tomorrow.
Maybe Debbie will find an Internet Cafe while she is away so she can get online and check up on us. If you are able to see this Debbie I hope you have a wonderful holiday.
Kim - Glad to hear you had a good visit with your family. I was at the library to-day and picked up the book by E. Berg - "Durable Goods". Also got Ann Lamott's "Crooked Little Heart". Have you read this one? I don't think you had mentioned a title for the book (or tape) you recomended by Lamott. Anyway I have enough to keep me busy for a while.
Melf - Hope you can educate your co-worker and convince her to see a doctor about her bs.
Fly - I just don't buy Triscuits any more as I don't know when to stop eating them. I just can't keep my hand out of the box once I start. I now eat Finn Crisp or Ryvita with some cheese or pate. I find this more satisfying and I can stop after two or three pieces. I sometimes have them with cream cheese and a little fruit spread when I feel like something sweet. I guess I am lucky having my kids and grandkids close by. I don't think it's the free food that keeps them coming - but babysitting sure helps. Have you tried making quiche with a brown rice crust? I know you said no one liked the quiche you made but I don't know if it was the crust or the filling that they didn't like. I posted a recipe on the Nov. recipe board for a spinach quiche with a brown rice crust which was good. I liked it better than the pastry crust.
Lamap - Hope you didn't have to work too hard this weekend.
Time to go and see about supper. I have some leftover beef curry that I am going to have with some green beans. I made some awesome tortillas to go with it yesterday. I made them with Stone Ground Durum (Semolina)Flour that I found in the bulk food store. The label said it was made from the kernels of the Durum wheat and I am assuming that it is legal. (The book says that semolina flour is o.k.) They tasted even better than the whole wheat ones I sometimes make.
Bye for now.

OH...MY...GAWD!!!!
MY QUICHE TURNED OUT SO GOOOOOOOOOD!!!
I trippled the recipe so I would have some to share with my "croneys"...
In doing this, I put a little too much spinach, but it is still really
gooooooood...
MARIE Evidently your WALMART isn't a SUPER WALMART?
Combo food store and regular WALMART...It HAS to be the super store for them to carry the seasoning..
FLY YOU HAVE GOT TO MAKE THIS QUICHE...I used the SARGENTO 50% less fat shredded cheese..instead of CABOT'S..
Williamsburg would be fun, but not until the heat is gone..I was there in heat like this last time....NEVER AGAIN!!!
AND YES..the KIDDO's are more than welcome...
AND JUST WHERE IS MS NANCY????
Off to watch some TV....

OMG but the board is awefully quiet today! Did everyone except a handful of us go on vacation with Debbie & Nancy? ;) Well, I guess since it's Sunday everyone is resting.
BOB I had baked chicken for supper tonight. I always think of you now that I know you love chicken so much. Glad you liked the butterfly story. I know it's an old one, but the lesson in it always reminds me of why we sometimes have to struggle for things that we want instead of it just being handed over to us.
SEF Sure enjoyed our chat this evening. Hope to be able to meet you in person one day. Glad you made it back safe & THINNER!!! :D
Rosalie We had a really hard rain here this evening too & the wind picked up, blowing things around in the yard. The temp dropped to the upper 70's. It felt sooo nice, but then after the rain came the swarm of mosquitoes! They have been really bad since then. Yes, I did bring the printout of the articles you & Debbie posted to my co-worker & left them with her to read. She is an RN & knows better than to let this problem go untreated, but for some reason she chooses to disregard any advise we share with her up till now. I try to share SB info with her every chance I get in hopes that she may give it a try.
'fly I believe the highest BS I remember in a patient was over 800 & he was awake & coherent. I do remember another that was 1300, but that one was NOT responsive. I have also seen them with the reverse, numbers down as low as 35 where we had to administer D50 directly into the bloodstream by IV & it was amazing to see him come out of it within a matter of seconds.
Kim Sounds like you had quiet a night at the bowling alley. Don't you just hate to say good bye to family when you know it will be a while before you see them again? Glad you had a nice visit with them.
Well, it's getting to be close to my bedtime so I'll say good nite. I get a break & get to sleep in tomorrow. Have to work 3-11 shift, so I'll check in with all of you later. Nite.

Good Sunday Evening everyone!
Wow, the board has been quiet! Guess many of us are trying to get in one last get-away before school starts. We will be leaving tomorrow early for 5 days of camping. It's about a 2-1/2 hour drive northeast from here not too far from the shore of Lake Michigan. Never stayed at this campground, but we drove through and thought it was pretty nice. I think the weather should be ok.
GATOR - Enjoy your trip to Wisconsin! A couple days sooner and we would have been running around the countryside together!!! Hope the weather holds out for you. Seems like it always heats up again when the kids go back to school. Enjoy Door County--it's really a lovely place to vacation!
QUILTER - I had the Pampered Chef party today and asked the consultant about the stone having a smell. She said she had never heard of that before, but suggested that you make a baking soda paste, spread it on the stone and leave for 20-30 minutes and then rinse it off. If it doesn't work, let me know and I'll ask her to try and find out. If you purchased it within the last year and you have a receipt, you may be able to return it for another one. She did tell me that starting Sept. 1 there will be a PC website (www.pamperedchef.com) and there may be some information there or the ability to e-mail the company for an answer. Apparently, every product will be represented with all the information and recipes that initial come with the product on the website so you can access it if you have lost it or want to see more info about the item. Should be kind of neat!
Well, since I will be gone from the computer until Friday or Saturday, I want to wish you all a good week and good results on WIW. I'll be thinking of all of you and do my best to stay OP and get in some walking around the campground!

Hi all - I'm back from vacation in North Mrytle Beach. Hated to leave. I was really enjoying the ocean although it didn't like me. I sunburned even with the blocker on and the ocean made my lips swell and blister - salt I guess. Oh well, a lot of lotion will cure all of it. But the nights were great. Walks along the beach and hot tubs.... Sad to say I didn't lose any weight, but very GLAD to say I didn't gain....:D So now I'm back and ready to settle down again.
VAButterfly - I was on Sugar busters from January until May - lost about 15 pounds. Then I lost 10 pounds on low carb and came back to Sugar Busters August 1st. Couldn't take the low carb thing. Not enough variety and I really don't need to eat that much meat and fat. I had open heart surgery three years ago and quit smoking. Have done well so far, but really need to get this weight off. Am determined that Sugar Busters is the way to go - WOE for me and just love the support of these Boards. I really need to read them every night to reassure myself. It does help. Thanks to all. :) Linda
