I was wondering if there was anyone else on the boards in my situation where I have PCOS (and endometriosis ) and am on the path to weight loss, but I am still TTC.

Any one wanting to chime in please do. I like having and giving support for the wonderful journey ahead.

I had been diagnosed with pcos when I was 16 and that was many years ago. I have been struggling with my weight since I was 13 or 14. I know that it is difficult but not impossible. Keep up the good work.

I have PCOS with insulin resistance so my weight loss is my first priority but we are still informally TTC while I am losing weight. I doubt that we will have any success but my dh goes in for his fun test in June, just to rule out any issues since we have been unprotected for over 3 years.

It can be a roller coaster for me. At times I don't want to TTC until I have lost more weight because I know it will be healthier but then at other times I keep thinking that I am not getting any younger and that I really want a baby now.

irisheyes I understand how that goes. Me and DH have been TTC almost 2 years and nothing. We did a round on Clomid and also saw a RE who did a SA on DH and we were ready to do a HSG, but my AF did not show up and after a 60 day cycle they gave me a progesterone shot to bring it on and by that time they were backed up schedule wise for HSG for a few months and in the meantime while waiting I left my job so i lost my insurance. I do know that when i get coverage again I will be going back to the same doc to do the HSG because he said if it shows my tubes are all clear he will be starting me on injectables the same day to prepare for a IUI.

I have been struggling with my weight for years. Me and DH are now doing weight watchers and I have seen success so far, but it is expensive to eat the right thing and boy oh boy how i do miss going through the drive through of my favorite fast food places. YUMMY!

Also I do not know if i mentioned it or not, but I have IR also and was put on Metformin for it (2000mg/day), but my stomach could not tolerate it and I was in the bathroom more than anything else in the day. I do have a friend whos baby shower I went to yesterday, well she is IR and took Met for a pretty good amount of time, but she lost almost 100lbs and got pregnant w/ no help from doctors. So I guess it is all about finding a med to help with the problems and a diet to work with your body and it is all possible.

Yes, I am finally on 2000mg of Glucophage XR. I tried to take the generic before and I had horrible problems. This time around as long as I am careful about what I eat...I seem to have less bathroom issues but they are still there.

Yes, the HSG is the next test if the SA comes back okay but we aren't going to have the HSG done right away. I have heard that it is not a fun test and can be pretty painful. Blah.

For me the hardest part is giving up the carbs that I know I need to. Im trying but it can be such a pain. I like bread and pasta too much :)

I know it must of been hard for you to find out your friend got pregnant but hearing stories like that give me a bit of Hope even though it makes me jealous at the same time too.

WW is a good plan and how lucky are you that you have a livein diet partner!

My dr is apparently very concerned about my lack of significant weightloss as he informed me that if I did not lose a considerable amount of weight by July he was prescribing byetta which is an injectable medicine for diabetics to lose weight. Blech...I don't want to shoot myself up everyday so I really need to buckle down. I have lost 15lbs since the beginning of the year but it is not enough for him yet. I was excited because I passed last year's weightloss in 5months... so I thought it was an improvement. Ugh!

It can be expensive to buy veggies and fruit but I have been cruising the various grocery ads and have found some great deals the past couple of weeks. It takes a bit more effort but I am saving more money than I am spending in gas so that is the important thing.

Good Luck and may you meet your Memorial Day goal quickly!

I have PCOS, was diagnosed about 6 yrs ago or so. Been TTC, tried clomid, have had a few procedures done to check everything is "normal" I just do not ovulate.
Was diagnosed last yr. with type II diabetes, now I'm working on losing weight and just trying to be healthier and hoping the ttc part will follow soon after.
Good Luck!

i am pcos and recently diagnosed diabetic. i am not ttc yet but plan to try after i get myself in order. lost some weight and had my first period after stopping the pill and it was a 33 day cycle! i had 45 day cycles before the pill. i think the eating, glucophage and chaste berry helped. waiting to get some ovulation tests to see if i am indeed ovulating as well.

the weight does come off for me with very carefull eating, and some exercise. i wish i could exercise more, that's my next goal.

i think the main thing is to get healthy overall and not stress too much. i am also a great believer in alternative therapies. will try accupunture when i seriously start ttc, in approx 6 months or so.
but would be more than happy to have a accidental positive before that :) i know how much the psychological state affects fertility and it is so hard to keep calm.

It seems like when you are in this situation that you are the only one going through it then you get on a board like this one and see how PCOS and IR affects many people and it is actually sort of strengthening.

I find hope in seeing it is not just me and that we are all going though it together and we ARE going to beat this!

I too am a carb-o-holic. I have tried really hard to give them up, but I still eat alot of them even on Weight Watchers. I do not do fruits or veggies (bad I know). I am looking into going back to the Endo I saw before the RE and getting back on Met and seeing if I can tolerate it better this time around. Fortunately my blood sugar levels are pretty well normal at this point, btu i know if I do not loose the weight and watch what i eat I will end up diabetic like my mom, aunts, uncles, and husband.

I hope we all find success in beating the odds against us!!

I am trying to get pregnant while losing weight. I was going to wait until I reached my weight loss goal but I thought if I get pregnant before reaching goal that will fine. I have cut down on my carbs and I try to eat only healthy carbs to control my insulin resistance. Abd I exercise at least five times a week because exercise also help control our insulin levels.

Always- Wow way to go on the weight loss.

I'm trying to lose before TTC too. Well still TTC just not doing meds or BBT or anything. My RE wanted me to get under 200 ....he said it would help the meds work better. That was my goal to lose the 30 and walk into this office and say now what LOL. Hasn't been as easy as I thought....still have 26 pounds to go. I would love to join a thread with PCOSer trying to lose.

Losing4another Thanks for the congrats. I still have a ways to go. My doctor wanted me to be goal weight before ttc. Chances are that I probably won't get pregnant until then. But I decided might as well see what happens.

So far nothing has happen. LOL

It sounds like we should start a forum of trying to loose weight to get pregnant!

I was DX with PCOS approx 4 years ago. Trying to get as much weight off by the end of the year so we can try to get pregnant. I think I have looked at every website on PCOS and steel feel kind of confused! I'm here if anyone would like to buddy up. Maybe we can have a race to pregnancy weight loss challenge or something. I'm ready to be a mom and I am more than ready to get this weight off!! Best of luck to all of you! I know we can do this. God Bless

I would'nt mind budding up.

I was diagnost in January 2006 with PCOS and Insuline Resistance. DH and I descided to continue TTC during our 6 months "break" of fertility meds.

I'm having a hard time losing weight, I lost about 10lbs since January, I have about 20lbs more to lose before July 10th, if I want to go forward onto IUI.

So if you don't mind having another buddy, I'll gladly join you.

Hi Everyone! Thought I'd post my first message on these boards. I have been doing a bit of reading on the boards and have found this thread particularly relevant to my situation.

I have been trying to get pregnant for just over a year. I was diagnosed with PCOS this February. So far I have been prescribed Provera (7 days), which brought on AF. Just yesterday I finished a 5 day cycle of Clomid. I am also taking 500mg of Metformin this week, 1000mg next week and then 1500mg thereafter. So far the worst part has been the hot flashes at night.

Since I stopped taking birth control pills (Triphasil) last March, my weight has steadily increased, due to the PCOS. My usual weight was between 150-155 and now I am sitting at 178. I'm finding it very hard to get up and exercise. I went for a short walk today and I was so depressed when I got home. I was tired!! I felt like I was carrying a huge weight on my back! Every time I make an effort to exercise, I end up giving up because of how out of shape I feel. Also, my appetite is out of control - is this a typical issue with PCOSers?

Anyway, I'd really like to hear if anyone else is experiencing any of the same issues that I am. I'm hoping that these boards will keep me somewhat motivated and that others will be able to offer up some tips for me.
