We're a supportive, caring bunch of ladies that share our everyday lives as well as our weight loss efforts. Please pull up a chair and join us. :cofdate: Michelle 05-05-2006, 10:01 PM Good Evening Everyone ~ Hope all of you had a great Friday! My daughter and I went with my sister and her girls shopping and out to lunch today. I got quite a bit of walking in and then I did my WATP 2 mile dvd when I got home. We ate at Red Lobster and I needed to burn some calories off!:?: The lunch affected my stomach immediately, so I was anxios to get home; I'm a homebody anyways. I have gotten used to eating healthier, so when I put something bad into my body, it's not liking it too much!:o It was another absolutely beautiful day here, in the middle 70s. I have no updated information on my grandma yet. so I guess no news means good news, I hope. I hope all of you have a good evening... Jane 05-05-2006, 10:08 PM Hi ladies, Angie - I know just what you mean about the weight, and I'm so glad you got the book! We're here for you anytime you want to talk about it. Weight issues have plagued me most of my life - from the time I first got overweight at age 10, so I for sure can understand your thoughts. Not sure if I mentioned this but Dr. Phil's ideas are what got me serious about losing. His "either do it or don't" speil hit a nerve. WW is what I did, but his no-nonsense philosophy hit home. Another play done with again! Which one will you be involved in next? Have fun in Sylvan! Marti - the population in is between 150-200 according to the postmaster. I guess that depends on if anyone had a sleepover or not, lol. But I live between that town, and one that has about 25,000 people. Still small, lol. Come and visit me, and I'll take you to Amish country, which is about 30 minutes (yet a whole world) away. Julie - OMG, shoo fly pie! My mom used to make that eons ago, but quit when she was diagnosed as diabetic. Wonder why, lol. You didn't want to eat that if you had a cavity, right? Yay for the Slim n Tone, you're doing so well! Kim - the festival sounds like so much fun. I'd love to visit the northeast someday, especially in the fall. I think you're going to do well handling the food, because you're planning ahead. That's what always gets me through. Even if you don't know exactly what will be served, you can allow so many calories/points for that meal. Mary Kate - hope everything's going well for you and that you get some rest this weekend. Where are those Disneyland photos?? Can't wait to see them. Robin - Hi, come back in and tell us what you've been up to, ok? Neal and I had a blast today. It was so relaxing to get away and have a "date" with him. I did very well at the restaurant - you guys would be so proud of me! Plus, we ran into some friends and that made it nice, too. The best part is - my knee didn't hurt all day. Woo hoo! Have a good evening. <-- to you all. Jane 05-05-2006, 10:13 PM Michelle - you were posting same time as me. So glad you had a good day with your family. Is she your only sister? And you're doing well with the exercise, which is great! I'm a homebody, too. Love to take little trips, but not be gone too long. A good vacation for me is 5 days tops, lol. See you later! Michelle 05-05-2006, 10:23 PM Hi Jane ~ Yes she is my only sister. Last summer when my daughter and I went back to Iowa for 6 weeks, that was so hard! I got so homesick, and then I really did get very sick towards the end with my dizziness problems and being very off balanced, that we came home a week early. I do love my own home!:) Katiecat 05-06-2006, 02:02 AM Hi ladies...just popping in to say goodnight. Was a rough day at work...we were just about to leave, when one of the girls I'm training -- very sweet, very mild mannered -- got an absolutely horrible call. The woman was not mentally stable, and literally SCREAMED at the girl for half an hour, demanding answers and then yelling at her when she tried to answer. For ten minutes of the call, the poor thing kept trying to tell the lady she would get a supervisor for her to talk to, but the lady kept screaming non-stop, so loud that I could hear her clearly even though the rep was wearing a headset, and I wasn't able to do anything about it. I finally told her to just calmly tell the woman she was going to put her on hold to transfer the call to a supervisor -- and the woman continued to yell as she hit the hold button. She was shaking as she typed up the required info form before transferring the call to the supervisor queue. I felt so bad for her. A call like that can make or break a rep. People tend to go into customer service because they are friendly, they know how to be nice and treat people with respect, and they like helping people. *sigh* I hope she comes back to work on Monday. I have WI tomorrow morning at WW...hope I did ok this week, but I'm not feeling very confident. Right now, I'm exhausted mentally, emotionally, and physically. Things will be better in the morning after I get some sleep. jules1216 05-06-2006, 09:08 AM Katie--I had a call like that the end of April. The problem had been taken care of and a second person called--she went off on me for a very long time and unfortunately I am where the buck stops. My other coworkers could hear her clearly and I had to switch from my headset to a handset to be able to hold it further from my ear. My one co-worker started passing me notes to just hang up. That was probably the worst call that I have gotten in the 11 plus years there. I could tell you more but for the most part our customers are friendly. da fat n da furious 05-06-2006, 12:41 PM Good morning... Michelle, that is something I had always wished I could do...go shopping with my sister and my daughters...lol Alas I have sons and my sister is a shrew. I don't know if I am a homebody,,,I go in spirts,,feel the need to be home. then there are times when Im HEY lets go do... Everytime I see your avatar I feel this urge to paint again,,,but Im so rusty now...arghhh I went to Micheal recently, and saw a class on miniture babies. I guess they are made out of clay...the babies look a bit scary like old men without clothes...*shudder ok after that happy thought maybe I'll look into a different class to take. Jane, have you been taking Aleve regularly? And you have been resting it right? We don't have Amish here we have Hutterites, but they dont' have a town that you can go check out. They actually sometimes knock on your door trying to sell you stuff, eggs/chickens bread. Im done plays,,,none,,,no more,,,nada,,,finished,,,wahooo! Im freee~! My big plan is not to do any,,,just possibly usher every so often to see my friends and see the play. Katie, oh man lets hope shes made of stronger stuff and must realize that is not the norm. Ive had a guy do that awhile ago,,,didn't really blame him,,,we hada union strike in another province and in that whole sector no one was getting beer. For those store owners thats a bad thing,,,its their lively hood. Yesterday I had a guy call,,he started swearing and carrying on about not getting a credit he was suppose to have received by now...like that girl I kept saying I was going to put him on hold,,,he just flipped. I don't tolerate rude behaviour, so I told him that is enough he will have to stop swearing or he will be hung up on. I found the credit,,(he spent it 2 weeks ago,,,duh!) BOY was he a different man after that,,, he comment after? Thanks Hon. ARghhh Well that sure made up for being sworn at...lol butt head. Jules what is it that you do? So last night went and saw a play that was wirtten by friends called Eve. It was their version of Adam and Eve. I thought it was fantastic, the songs they wrote made me so emotional. I am hoping they will record it. Got home late but still read the first part of the 3fc book. We are driving to Sylvan today and plan to read while Monte drives. Im already feeling in control,,,Im one of those people that needs to have a clean home and desk,,vehicle. I cleaned my vehicle yesterday,,,just need to pull out the Q tips...(the console is gross, lots of coffee spills) Almost finished all the Aladdin wash,,,6 loads of harem pants..lol So now I have all three books,,,Going to go through the 3FC (its new and I can't wait) then Dr. Phil,,,and Bill Phillips. Im already conciously not eating the junk...wanted a frosty on my way home from the play,,passed Wendy's but kept going... Drank a half a glass of milk,,a huge glass of water and then snuggled up with my book. Tonight will be hard,,,cake,,food and drinks. Think I will grab a huge coffee from Tims when we get there....or water... Jane 05-06-2006, 01:09 PM Good morning ladies, Michellle - I was lucky enough to have 6 sisters. No brothers, though. Six weeks is a long time to be gone from home. I don't think I could make it. Katie - aww, so sorry about what happened to your young rep. I hope she shows up Monday. Like Julie says, most people are nice, but you get some who make you want to just hang up. How was weigh in? Hope you got some rest. Jules - I know you're an office manager, but what kind of company is it? Angie - lol, your laundry is so different than most. Not many of us are washing harem pants, lol. Hey, come down here and you can go shopping with me and my DDs. Yep, I've been babying my knee so it's not hurting when I go to FL. Way to go on passing up the frosty. Every little step like that adds up. Bring your box of q-tips and work on my car too, ok? lol Marti - is this your weekend with Jhanai? Hope you're having fun. The concrete part of our front porch is poured and will be ready for us to sit on this evening. The roof part will be added next week, and should be done before we get back from FL. I've been cleaning and took a little break to tell you hello, but I better get back at it. Have a good day! Marti 05-06-2006, 01:43 PM Good Morning Ladies! I'm the first one up! Amazing.....just want to keep dancing about these new hours!!:carrot: :carrot: Michelle--6 weeks IS a long time to be away from home! Were you visiting family or was this an extended vacation? I go in phases of wanting to stick around home and then wanting to get out and go....same as Angie! Right now, I'm itching to go on vacation to San Fran, .....so I'm at that "let's get away from here" phase!:D Jane--Wow...that is a small population!! My town as about 8,000. And the town we lived in before that was half that. We're about a 20min drive to get to Eugene which has about 130,000 or more (never really paid attention) Yes this is Jhanai weekend and I'm excited. She has grown some and lost weight! Who told her that she could grow????? MaryKate--What a horrible experience that must have been for that poor girl!! That would be a nightmare. Where I work, our callers are nurses and doctors....and every once in awhile we get an angry one wanting to know why they don't have the results to the specimen they sent in. Just the other day we had one call in, come to find out that we didn't have the specimen yet! They didn't get it to the couriers and it was still at the office! Hope the girl didn't get scared off from that experience. Jules--Ooh, that had to have been a nasty caller if you had to switch to a hand held to get it away. I would probably have just tossed it all and walk out and gone home! Angie--Once you get done shopping w/Jane and her girls, you can visit me and shop w/me and Jhanai! So are you tired of doing the plays? They'll miss all that you do, but you sure deserve all the relaxation! Your costumes are always amazing! I just got my book yesterday, I started reading it last night but I was too tired. Will be doing some reading today! Well ladies, time to get the other up to enjoy this day. The forecast calls for rain later but it's sunshining and beautiful so I'm going to take advantage! Hugs to all! Michelle 05-06-2006, 08:50 PM Angie ~ I have the Dr. Phil book and started it, but then never got back to it. I also have the 3FC book ordered and was shipped out a couple days ago. I've always not liked reading very much, so I have to really like it to keep me interested. Jane ~ When do you go on your trip? I think you had mentioned you were going someplace, but I lose track in these threads. Marti ~ I went back to Iowa last summer for 6 weeks to visit family. Almost all of my family live back there and it had been almost 5 years since I had last been back there. This has been a pretty blah day. I have taken tylenol and did quite a bit of resting. I've had a headache and I think allergies are giving me some problems. The day was still so pretty here, but now it's starting to get dark like it's going to rain out. I hope all of you have a good evening. Michelle 05-06-2006, 08:56 PM Jules ~ I agree with Marti, I think I would have tossed the phone and headed home for the weekend! Some people can be so rude! My daughter has been working a couple of years, but next Friday is her last day, in a medical office at the switchboard. She has had people call her names and scream at her, and she learned to just put them on hold, even if they were going on and on, and transfer them to the supervisor. The supervisor would let them know that nobody in their office will take any of their abuse, including herself, and hang up on them. Marykate ~ I feel so bad for that girl having to take that call. It really is abuse and she should have not taken it! I used to work in a medical office and every Friday, have to make called to people where we had returned mail from their address. They would want to know where I was calling from and why, and then they would get mad and start yelling or calling me names, and I simply would hang up. They didn't want to give me the info, because it meant that they were going to get the medical bill, and they think they can hide forever. Jane 05-06-2006, 11:23 PM Hello ladies, Marti - kids grow up too fast! Katie has lost weight, too, and as put a red rinse on that beautiful blond hair. But it's her hair, lol, not mine, so I stayed out of it, lol. Do you and Jhanai do any scrapbooking anymore? I thought I would get some done last winter, but I didn't, and now here it's almost summer. Michelle - we leave Wednesday AM for FL. I'm so excited to go and see Katie again. She's been working at Walt Disney World, on the college program for 4 months. It's been a great experience for her, and she'll miss her roommates and coworkers, but she says she's ready to come home. Sorry your DD has to put up with the rudeness at work. What the heck makes people act that way, anyhow? Is you headache better? Hope so. The weather was so pretty today that it was hard for me to stay in and clean house. I kept wanting to go out and play, lol. Grass is coming up where Neal planted it, and it looks like green whiskers, lol. Do you remember the Serenity Prayer? I've been thinking of that in regards to weight loss recently. Today's been a good day, foodwise. Have a good Sunday! Katiecat 05-07-2006, 02:05 AM Happy Saturday, ladies :carrot: WI this morning, gained .7 lbs, oh well. This week I will concentrate on getting my water in again. I can see it made a big difference compared to last week. Think I've also been drinking more diet soda, so I'm going to try to limit that this week, too. It was an incredibly busy day -- went to Walmart and bought a new BBQ grill (since our old one had rusted through in a spot and we tossed it), and some bright pink double impatiens for the front flower bed, which is too shady for many plants. A cat looks like it has been using the flower bed for a litter box in one area (ugh), so I cleaned all that out and planted a plant that is supposed to repel cats, dogs, and other animals along with the impatiens; hopefully that helps. Then I pruned my roses (black spot had been attacking the leaves), sprayed them with an organic spray for that. Went to the bank, paid the mortgage, washed my car and vacuumed it out, went grocery shopping. Grilled salmon, chicken (for Tim, he hates fish), carrots, zucchini and mushrooms w/dill seasoning, and corn on the cob. Seedless watermelon for dessert :T Noah mowed the lawn, so that looks better. Whew! I'm beat. And I still need to clean the kitchen and throw in a load of laundry. :faint: Ya know...I've been thinking about that horrible call yesterday. I kept trying to tell the trainee to just tell the lady she was getting a supervisor and to just put her on hold even though she was yelling. But the rep wasn't really able to focus on what I was saying because she was being screamed at by a mentally ill person -- no exaggeration, the lady was saying absolutely bizarre things. If anything like that happens again, I will tell the rep to quietly say (even if the person is yelling and isn't listening or paying attention to her), "if you continue yelling and won't let me speak, I can't assist you and will have to release this call" -- and if the person keeps screaming, then I will have her hang up and just note the account that I gave her permission to. Normally we are not allowed to hang up on customers, but that was just ridiculous. Michelle, sorry to hear you've been headachey. Maybe if it rains there it will clear the air some and help your allergies? Marti, when will you be in SF? How long will you be there? Are you staying near Fisherman's Wharf? I love SF...we took my oldest son there in January when he was home on leave. The Alcatraz tour is really cool, if you haven't done that, or it's fun just to take the bay cruise under the Golden Gate. Angie, scary-naked-old-men-looking-babies??? I almost fell out of my chair!!! :lol3: And then Tim said, "Hey don't knock it, some of us are a whole lot of fun!" Well...he's not THAT scary-looking... :yikes: I think I've actually seen some of those that were made to look like sleeping baby fairies, and they were pretty neat. No more plays? Well, maybe for a little while, but I bet you can't give them up entirely...it's in your blood  And good for you for resisting the Frosty :dust: Jane, bet you're looking foward to seeing Katie again! We still have yet to make it to Disney World, even though we are total Disneyland nuts :dizzy: Have the last week of September off work, but don't think we can afford any major trips then. Did I mention we have subterranean termites under the concrete in the backyard? Will be about $1200 to treat, but can't risk that they will damage the house. There goes the rest of our tax refund, but glad we had the $ for it. Here's the link to my Disneyland pics: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/kateothelamp/my_photos On the same page as my Ireland photos... Have a good night ladies, jules1216 05-07-2006, 08:45 AM To answer everyone's question we have a small office that handles calls direct from customers, calls direct from stores and we do all the entry. I get to do credits and problem solving--which I actually like to do. There was a director above me but during a downsize they moved him to another position so I am the supervisor of the area. I actually finally managed to calm that woman down and now she is actually nice when she calls and asks for me. There was one woman that one of the other reps was getting nowhere with and was very rude--I got the call and she said that she had mailed a check but we had no record of it--I basically covered everything the other rep did and asked for her to find if the check had been cashed and if it had tell me what number we had stamped on front of it. SHe went off on me and hung up. I gave it some time and called back and got the husband I explained that I was calling back because she was so upset and he said that he had found that she never wrote the check and was now embarrassed--I told him to tell her things like this happen all the time and she actually called the rep back the next day to apologize, she was having a bad day and was sorry to have taken it out on her. Luckily we don't usually have anyone cussing or swearing. Well, I am sitting here drinking my coffee and then I am off to finish mowing and do the last load of clothes--it's amazing how little DH and I have now that the kids don't live here. DD did bring a couple of small loads out. Did one while she was here and then left another for me to do along with some whites. I just added her whites in with ours since I alwasy have a very small load of them. Not sure what else we will get into today. Marti 05-07-2006, 03:13 PM Just a quick morning hello! Will be back later on this evening to catch up. Jhanai would like to use the computer and I promised her that she could. Have a great morning and I'll check in later!! Jane 05-07-2006, 07:53 PM Hi ladies, Katie - wow, you're a busy lady! So what else is new, right, lol. Your DL pics are so good and lots of things are similar to WDW. I really, really liked the way they had Easter lilies on the staircase. That's classy. Marti - hey, guess what? I got a good pic of a cardinal today. Want me to post it? You mentioned how much you like them. The thing is, he's eating with a rose-breasted grosbeak. I'd never seen one of those until recently, and now we have them everyday. Jules - yikes, your job sounds stressful. But you're handling it well, sweetie. Did you get your mowing done? How much do you have to do? I helped Neal a little bit on the riding mower last year, but not once so far this year. Actually, there's something kind of relaxing about that, don't you think so? I've had a good day. We had church, then after dinner we messed in the yard. Neal's been stripping the siding off the old house to recycle. The house sure looks weird without it. I had hoped to get to the Relay For Life car wash my nephews and niece were having at the firehouse, but didn't make it. Have a good evening. da fat n da furious 05-07-2006, 10:16 PM Katie, thanks for the pics...makes me miss DL, my favorite area is New Orleans,,love the bands. And the shopping.... Tell Tim I didn't mean him...lol Jane, ya I don't know too many people who have loads and loads of harem pants to wash...lol But its all done,,,I am waiting for the sultan's turbin so I can hand back those costumes. And and I need to pick up a rock (fake) to take back and Im done. The book is fantastic I am so enjoying the read. Wasn't feeling so good on the drive up to Sylvan yesterday,,,actually wanted at one point to go back home..but we continued and the icky feeling passed. So didn't really read much then...but read for an hour before we left. I have learned more about SB diet then I ever thought,,,sounds interesting,,,not sure if I can hang in there for phase 1. Michelle, I love to read,,,but interesting books,,,technical stuff is beyond me,,hate having to read stuff for work,,,cause I somehow am able to twist it around and get it wrong...duh But so far I m really enjoying the 3fc book. Jules,,,sounds so similar to our job,,,we do alot of problem solving with credits and such and *Sigh some people just don't get it.. Marti,,,hope you had a good weekend...Jhania is doing a growth spurt. We have our new neighbours moved in,,,I saw them all day moving their funirture and such...I ran out and got my cars (mother's day and birthday) and bought them a card, and a miniture sunflower in a pot. When I went over to introduce myself they were gone so I left it on the front step. I bought the cutest pots of pansies from Home Depot. I couldn't even plant them for the price they had on them. Feeling better each day,,,house is pretty much clean,,need to fold 2 loads of laundry. Monte got rid of all the paper he needed to shred...(into my vehicle so I can take to Shred-It) We were on our 3rd shredder with no end in site,,,finally I called this company and asked if I could just bring the f huge rubbermaid containers over...*sigh of relief. Monte and I both cleaned,,,he was outside I was inside,,,House smells nice, yard looks good...ahhh Well Im going to go to bed early... have a good night Marti 05-07-2006, 11:38 PM Evening Ladies!! Well took Jhanai to Walmart to get some film developed. Finally got my wedding day photos from my camera developed. About time huh?? Two years sitting on the shelf waiting!! Geez, talk about procrastination! After looking at photos.....come to realize why I hate my picture taken!!! Need to get in gear and work off this fat!! Angie--Jhanai is definately going through her growth spurt. She's not much shorter than I am, in fact, we're pretty much the same height. She kept telling me I'm getting shorter.:dizzy: And she's got some cheek bones! She's such a sweet girl. Jane--Love Cardinals. They are so pretty! Yes, post a photo. Now what in the world is a grosbeak?? I don't think I've heard of them. Haven't done much scrapbooking lately. But Jhanai did ask for a bunch of scrapbooking items for her birthday. She wants to do a book on just her friends. Seen something new in a scrapbook magazine called ATC: Artist Trading Cards. Looks like fun. I'm going to try it and if it looks good, I'll send you all one! Jules--Your job sounds very similar to mine. I do data entry for OML (Oregon Medical Labs) I'm in the sendout department and we send out test that can't be performed in our lab. I have to make many calls to clients when we need a recollect because the gave us a wrong specimen type and they get angry w/us for their mistakes! But majority of the clients are very nice and helpful. Makes for a nice work day! MaryKate--We will be heading to SF the first week of July. Plan on getting there on the 3rd. We're staying at the King Georges Hotel. Not exactly sure where it's located....near China Town. We have so many places that we plan on going to. Hoping we get to do them all in 4 1/2 days! Alcatraz is one of them! We wanted to do that last time, but ran out of time. That will be one of the first things we do. We're thinking of doing the night time tour......sounds spooky to me! Great photos! Thanks for sharing w/us! Michelle--The pollen seems to be thick this year! My DD is suffering from allergies so bad this year. Today was a good day for her since it rained! She was so happy to be able to breath a little better. I felt sorry for her. Hope your headache has gone away. Well, I'm going to browse a bit then I have some dishes to do and laundry to fold and then I'm plopping my butt on the couch for the rest of the evening. You all have a great evening! Michelle 05-08-2006, 12:32 AM Angie ~ I can't wait to get my 3FC book! I think that I'll do fine with it, because it will be something to keep me interested in. I have just never been a book reader!:D Marti ~ I've been having some allergy problems too and I do think the rain has helped them; no headache today.:dizzy: Jules ~ You are one busy lady! You make me look very bad this weekend, but I'll make up for it tomorrow when everyone is back to work and school.;) I had a nice day with both of my girls. We went and they each got an ear piercing and then we went to Walmart and I bought a new pedometer that I've been wanting, but they were out of it the last time I was there. Can't wait to start using it! Have a good night everyone... Michelle 05-08-2006, 12:35 AM Katiecat ~ You have been a very busy girl! I hope after everything you did yesterday, that you took a rest day just for yourself today! Jane ~ I think it's so neat that your daughter works at Disney World! I have been to Disneyland twice, but never Disney World. You're going to have lots of fun and it will be great to see your daughter again. Katiecat 05-08-2006, 11:43 AM Just a real quick good morning...this is my first full day back at work (9 hours, ugh), gotta leave in just a couple of minutes. I'm still helping in training a few days this week, but the class is almost over. Not sure what they will have me do Tues afternoon and Thursday all day while they are taking their final exams. Kinda overdid on Saturday. Arm hurt like crazy on Sunday and then I ended up with a stupid migraine, so yesterday was pretty much a waste. I did make it to the grocery store for a few things, but other than that I was pretty useless. Did see the San Jose Sharks beat the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 (you following hockey, Angie?) OK, wish me luck for today :crossed: :lucky: Everyone have a great day, and I'll talk to you later... Jane 05-08-2006, 12:14 PM Good morning ladies, Angie - how're you feeling today? Whatever made you feel yucky yesterday, I hope it's gone. Funny you mentioned South Beach. I'm convinced that I eat way too many carbs, and thought I might follow SB loosely while counting WW points. No way could I do it the way it's meant to be followed, but having more protein might make me more energetic. Aww, you're a sweetie to welcome your neighbor the way you did! How thoughtful of you! Marti - my grown niece and her DD do cards with stamping, and gluing on stuff. They made one for Neal when he retired with a fishing pole and line on it that was really cool. I've looked at the stuff available in the craft stores, and it blew my mind how many choices there are now. Hey, I'll try to post the pic of the birds soon, ok? Michelle - if you haven't worn a pedometer before, I think you might be surprised just how far you get in one day. Let us know, ok? I need to find mine and wear it at WDW, lol. Katie has been doing an intership, and will be done this week. Her major is early childhood development, and she's loved working with kids for the past 4 months. Katie - oh hon, I hope you make it through the day w/o too much pain. I'll be thinking of you. I bet you're very anxious to find out what they'll have you doing after today, and I hope it's something you'll like. Kim - let us know how things are going, ok? We're thinking of you. Well ladies, it's getting down to the wire! I'm going to pull out the luggage afterwhile and start packing. Neal and I can only take one small bag each, because we have to help Katie get her's back home, lol. The mean old airline won't let her take 6 bags, lol. She has so much more now than when she went, so she is donating her bed comforter and linens and towels to Goodwill. It's not stuff that we'll use, and takes up so much room, so I think that's a good idea. I asked DS if I could have 3 y/o Macy for awhile today, so I'll be picking her up soon. I'm sure she'll help me pack, lol. :dizzy: See ya later tonight, Marti 05-08-2006, 12:32 PM Good Morning Gals!! Was going to report my WI today but the scale says I'm up 20lbs. :o So I think I'll go ahead and WI at work and see it what it says there. If I'm up 20lbs......boy am I in trouble! Jane--That is one thing I have been doing. Making cards. It's fun and you get to personalize it. So is Katie excited about coming home?? I bet she is! I'm sure she'll miss some of the excitement but a home coming is always so nice! Have fun w/Macy today! Katie--I'm so sorry to hear that you're arm is acting up!! I hope they find you something easy to do at work so your arm will heal a bit. Will be thinking of ya, good luck to an easy workday! Michelle--I enjoy my pedometer when I actually wear it. I will end up taking it off and misplacing it. Such as right now, I have been hunting all over for it and can't find it. I like seeing just how much walking I do at work, since majority of the time I sit in front of a computer. And just at work..I average about 2-3miles. Well I need to hop onto the gazelle...especially since I've gained "20lbs" :D Who knew that TOM would affect my weight like that?? So off I go to workout and then tidy up my kitchen since last night I said to myself :I don't wanna do this!:dizzy: Hugs to all! LakeGirl 05-08-2006, 12:53 PM Good morning, girls! The festival was a great time! Lots of animals, tons of yarn and my eating went very well! I was exhausted when I got home and for most of yesterday as well. There are a couple of pictures on my blog if anyone is interested: http://kimbresspace.blogspot.com/ So today is grocery day....my least favorite chore of the week! jules1216 05-08-2006, 02:02 PM Yikes--lunch is over already...I'll be back tonight after I go to the gym!! Jane 05-08-2006, 03:49 PM Here's the cardinal for Marti.. the other bird is a rose-breasted grosbeak. The rest of his body is black and white. Btw, whoever said "eat like a bird" must have meant pig out, because these guys know how to chow!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v230/JanaCee/cardinal1.jpg Jane 05-08-2006, 03:56 PM Kim - thanks for sharing the pictures with us - they're great! Some people up the road from us are raising alpacas. They remind me of the llamas. Marti - 20 pounds? I don't think so, lol. Thank goodness it's just the scale being wacky, right? Yes, Katie is glad to be coming home, but she's having to say goodbye to everyone, including her BF, so that's really hard on her. Julie - hi chicky. See you tonight. Macy is napping so I thought it'd be a good time to get that pic posted. I've been doing laundry, too, and have to iron some things either tonight or tomorrow. Oh joy - hold me back, lol. The weather is so pretty, and it's hard for me to stay in and do work when I could be outside playing. Michelle 05-08-2006, 04:10 PM Katiecat ~ I hope you have a good day at work, and try and not let the stress take over. Be good to yourself. Jane ~ I still need to put my battery in the pedometer and figure out how to get it all set. There are so many instructions for such a small thing! I love cardinals; every time I go back to Iowa, my grandparents have several bird feeders and I love to just watch them.:D Marti ~ I think it's time for a new scale! I would cry if my weight showed that kind of change.:( Kimberly ~ I hope you're having a good day. Well I called and talked to my grandma this morning and she is doing so much better. They are trying to set up having in home care for her in the mornings and afternoons until she regains her strength back. I'm so glad she's doing better, and it's amazing how much one weeks times can make a big difference! jules1216 05-08-2006, 09:07 PM Marti--I have to join the group doubting you are up 20 lbs!! Our jobs do sound quite similar. Have a great night at work!! Jane--We have a push mower right now--the riding one needs a new belt but I actually don't mind the push mower. With the slope and all the trees it makes for quite a workout. Getting everything done while Macy is asleep is a good idea so that you have more time to play when she gets up!! Ang--most of the people we deal with are great, but I agree that there are a few that just don't get it--those callers that think yelling and intimidation will get you to give in. Luckily there are not alot. My friend said the worst job she ever had was temping for one of those companies that send you the checks for added services for your credit card--the ones that if you cash the check before reading the fine print that says cashing the check signs you up--she actually got a penalty against her if she didn't get three attempts in to change people's minds--she says she heard combinations of curse words that she didn't know existed... Katie--sorry you overdid..hope you feel better and have a relaxing evening.. Kimberly--that festival sounded fun!! If you go to the one in June you'll have to let me know--there's coupons for $1 off the admission price on the website.. Michelle--I love your new avatar--is he yours?? I have to get as much done as I can on the weekends--between working, going to the gym, posting and keeping my DH & the dogs from feeling neglected I sometimes run out of time... I did get my SLim-N-Tone workout in--my favorite workout buddy was there!! makes it so much funner!! LakeGirl 05-08-2006, 09:17 PM Jules, after looking again at the website for Mountain Heritage, I realized we had gone to that festival last year (I think....it was either last June or isn't there one in the fall too?) and I did love it. I feel in love with the broken china jewelry! Have you ever seen it? So pretty but so expensive! jules1216 05-08-2006, 09:24 PM Kimberly--I saw that booth--their stuff is really beautiful & expensive--they are there everytime I have gone. They do have it twice a year--the first time I went it was with my son's paternal grandmother when my son was 1 (he's 21 now!!). I don't go to both every year but I do enjoy it--I went to the fall one last year. DH enjoys the bluegrass music when he goes but last fall he went to the airshow in Martinsburg with a friend and i ended up going alone. I always get something at the bay pottery and salsa from the Fire Creek company. Michelle 05-08-2006, 09:30 PM Jules ~ No, the dog in the avatar is a cute picture I found of a pug. If I could have a dog, this would be the one I want ~ I LOVE pugs! Our new neighbors have 2 pugs and they are absolutely adorable! I got my 3FC book today so I'm anxious to get reading!:D Jane 05-08-2006, 11:14 PM Hiya ladies, Hey ladies, if you'd like to see the administrators in a video promoting the new book, click here on the link below. I couldn't see it because of my pop-up blockers, but I did get to see their other photos on the site. They look great! http://www.wbir.com/life/programming...?storyid=34152 Michelle - so happy that you have good news about your grandma. What a relief, right? Did you figure out the pedometer? Julie - yay for doing the slim n tone. Yep, the push mower is really good exercise. Not that I'd remember 1st hand, lol. It's been years since I used one. Hmmmm... maybe that's part of my problem, lol. Kim - I think I forgot to congratulate you for doing well with the food at the festival. Another hurdle crossed, right? Hi also to Angie, Mary Kate, Marti, Robin, and anyone reading this. Have a good evening! Michelle 05-08-2006, 11:25 PM Jane ~ I tried that website and it said the page may have moved or is no longer available.:( I got the pedometer together and I'm not happy with it at all. It's not even accurate. Just from the living room to the bathroom, it's only about 5 steps and the pedometer said I went from 113 to 161 steps; that's way off! I think I may be taking it back.:?: da fat n da furious 05-09-2006, 12:55 AM good evening ladies, Michelle, that is a cute avatar,,,I see so many lil pugs in our neighbourhood... One of the guys I work with went and got his new adopted puppy...shes 1 yrs old,,Beagle. Named her Belle...ahhh Of course I came home whimpering and whining to go and look at the puppies! And this was right after Monte had to clean amess made by Skittles. Lets say not good timing,,,will work on that. Return the pedo thing,,,or check on the web and send a email to them. Jane, I tried to get into the site too,,,nothing Ive been trying to read my book inbetween my work...my boss wants to borrow it after Im done. Drank my water...spent alot of time running,,,i think thats how the weight loss happens,,,running to and from the bathroom. Ate a pile of veggies for dinner,,,with boiled pots with lots of garlic. Who can get sick with the amount of garlic we eat...yeesh...I bought a HUGE container of minced garlic at Costco,,,Ive given more then half away. well Tan needs to do homework... Michelle 05-09-2006, 01:17 AM Angie ~ Thanks for the compliment on my avatar...I absolutelu love pugs and would have one if I could!:p You did so good today with your eating and water. Are you on any certain plan or are you just watching what you're eating? At the top of the forum, there is a purple are you can get info if you want to meet the 3FC this weekend at a book signing. If you go in there, there's a box to click in and you can watch a video of them being interviewed. I really enjoyed it and it was very interesting. They are very nice ladies! Hope you have a good evening... Katiecat 05-09-2006, 04:02 AM Good evening, ladies! I posted a recipe I came up with tonight on the recipe thread...if you are craving Chinese food, it was really good, and reasonable cal/fat/fiber (only 5 WW points per serving). And we had a fantastic dessert. Got these jars of dark chocolate sauce at the Whole Foods Market -- one is chocolate raspberry, and one is chocolate cherry (that's the one we tried tonight). They have 90 cal for 2 tablespoons, no fat, and 2 g fiber per serving -- that's only 1 point! They were ridiculously expensive, something like $5.99 for a 10 oz jar, but totally worth it. I put 2 tablespoons in the center of a pretty plate, and surrounded it with sliced banana, halved strawberries, and fresh pineapple chunks. Wow! I'm in heaven :cloud9: Work wasn't too bad, but after over-doing it on Saturday I stupidly also decided now was a good time to try to go without my pain pills. Doh! :headache: So back on the nerve pain meds and monster ibuprofen. Michelle, I got a pedometer and we had to tweak it and tweak it to make it measure accurately. Hubby the Technogeek messed with it for an hour to try to make it work -- still not sure if it was 100% accurate, but it seemed to be measuring my steps accurately. I lost it at Disneyland this time, though...it's probably somewhere in Space Mountain, Angie, good job on drinking the water! I know, I feel like I'm in the bathroom all the time, too, when I'm drinking it like I'm supposed to. I'm working on that this week. I'd love to have a little dog, like a Sheltie, a Schipperke, or a Corgi...I love those sturdy little working dogs. I also like lots of the big breeds, too...just can't see having a dog for quite a while. Maybe when I retire. Jane, thanks for the link! I've gotta get the book...still haven't made my Border's order online, I hope they have it. Will you be staying in DW for a few days before coming back? I would love to see it someday...I've heard Epcot is fabulous. And thanks for the card  Made my day! Julie, I've heard that a push mower is great exercise. I pay Noah (age 15) to mow the lawn...not such good exercise, huh? :lol3: Kim, cool pics of the festival on your blog. The one of the lady spinning the fur right off her bunny made me laugh :D I'd love to learn how to knit, but can't figure out from books...I'd have to have a friend show me how in person. I started to crochet a blanket once, but it was uneven, and then my son, for some unknown reason, put two tangerines that he didn't want that someone gave him in the bag with my afghan and yarn and I didn't find out for about 3 weeks...when the tangerines had gotten mushy and weird and kind of goopy....ACK! :yikes: needless to say, my afghan experiment went into the trash with the icky tangerines. Marti, sounds like your trip to SF will be wonderful. If you like art museums (don't know if you are into that), I would highly recommend the Legion of Honor in the Presidio. We've been there twice, and absolutely love it. The DeYoung in Golden Gate Park is finally open again (it was closed for a long time for renovation), and it's wonderful, too. And Golden Gate Park has a beautiful Japanese tea garden. And the Museum of Modern Art is cool, too, if you like more contemporary stuff. Do the Alcatraz tour if you get the chance, it's very interesting. Alright, Tim is pouting because he wants me to come to bed...so have a good night ladies...pleasant dreams... jules1216 05-09-2006, 09:03 AM A big good morning to everyone!! I have a lot to do today so I will do a longer post at home tonight!! I hope all of you have a wonderful day!! LakeGirl 05-09-2006, 10:25 AM Jane, yes, definately a crossed hurdle! I felt really good about how I did that day! Katiecat, I had to have a friend show me how to knit as I got very confused by the books. But once you know how, you will always know how and technically, there are only two stitches to learn! Everything other than that is a variation of the two stitches! I find it very relaxing (though I am still very much a novice!). I'm currently working on little bears for the kids in our church's Kid's Club and they are quite cute, though I've had to get a little help from friends along the way! If you have a friend that knits, get her to show you...it won't take you long! Now, if I could just find someone who knows how to quilt! Cafe Ole 05-09-2006, 10:27 AM UGH on top of the fact I haven't lost anything in a week (didn't even cheat!) the girl in our office quit. On top of her job, I will also be doing mine - this should be interesting! This is why I haven't been on the past few days -- this place is a nightmare and I have a screaming headache, but I also need my job so.... is it vacation time yet? :) Jane 05-09-2006, 10:38 AM Good morning ladies, Michelle - glad you found the link at the top of the page to the 3FCs video. I'd for sure go get my money back for the pedometer since it isn't working right. Thanks goodness you don't really have to take that many steps to your bathroom, lol. The one I have I got free at McDonald's with one of their lite salads a long time ago. It had to be a cheap one, but so far, so good. Angie - our beagle Chloe is our 4th beagle. The bad thing about them is they tend to age fast. Buy the time they are 6, they have lots of grey hair on their faces, but who cares? Our last one, Rosie, got so bad with arthritis and was blind that we had to put her to sleep. There just isn't anything cuter than a puppy, right? I even like puppy breath, lol. Sounds like you're getting your exercise running to the bathroom. I found that once your body gets use to it, the trips will lessen. Katie - yw for the card. I liked your recipe on the other thread, and the dessert one here sounds good, too. In Fl, we're staying at the Pop Century resort at Disney. We've stayed there before and love it. We requested the 60's building, which is right by the Hippy Dippy pool, lol. :beach: Julie - hope you have a great day, sweetie. Marti - hope you're having a good week. You guys, I am so excited that I can barely stand it! This time tomorrow we'll be headed for Evansville to begin our trip. I'm doubt that I'll be able to get back in here before then, so I'll say goodbye now. We'lll be back Saturday night, but family will be here until late, so I'll check in Sunday sometime. See ya on the flip side! Jane 05-09-2006, 10:43 AM Hi, you two were posting the same time as me! So glad to see you. :) Kim - I'm a quilter!! Well, I have mostly done wall hangings, since they are small. I made one with pockets, and stuck my MILs hankies in them, and transfered pictures of her on it, too, with each of my kids. Robin - aww, <--- for you, hon. How soon will they be replacing the one who left? About the weight, it will come off next week, if you stay OP. Hang in there, ok? Cafe Ole 05-09-2006, 12:04 PM Thanks!! I am trying to hang in there. They aren't going to replace her, I have to do hers and mine now for same pay - that is so wrong! She was a higher level than I am too, which is not cool since they aren't going to reclassify me either. I am trying to chug up the plateau on stress :) :( Marti 05-09-2006, 01:23 PM Hello everyone! Jane--Awww...thanks for hte photo of the Cardinal. It's so bizarre to think that we don't have them here in Oregon! Do you have Blue Jays?? We have them everywhere, looks just like a Cardinal but blue. I'm so excited for you!! Give Katie a big welcome home hug from us all!! And have a safe trip! Michelle--Wonderful news on your grandma!! I'm happy to hear she's gaining strength. I would find a better pedometer that's for sure. I put mine on while on the tredmill one day and it was off by one step. So I figured it was as accurate as it was going to get. The one you have sounds way off. Did you calibrate it correctly? Jules--Are you working out w/a friend or someone who is part of the gym and you got to know? I think it's a lot easier working out w/a buddy. You tend to encourage each other and let each other know if you're doing something wrong.....my DH was my buddy in the past. I need him now! Kimberly--The festival looked fun. It reminded me of a small country fair. It's getting so close for fairs and festivals and I'm ready for them. Thanks for sharing the photos. Angie--Sounds like you're getting tons of water. That's good. I need to do the same. I've been trying and then I try to mix it up a little by adding crystal light to some so I keep water in. Sometimes I just don't feel thirsty but gotta keep hydrated! Katie--Golden Gate Park is the one place we really wanted to go to last time. That will be one of the first places we go. At least that is the plan. I do enjoy going to museums, so I may check into the ones you mentioned. Robin--Don't fret! Things will settle down for you and you'll feel more in control. And the scale will show a difference next week as Jane said...just stick w/being OP and you'll be fine. Hope your headache has eased up a bit. Ok....I have some things I need to get done. First things first though, must take my dogs out to pee. :D Poor things. I chose to get on here first before I took them out. Then it's onto the gazelle and planning my days meals. Keeping seeing the photos in my mind of all my fat and glory! Time for me to get serious! Hugs to all! jules1216 05-09-2006, 02:00 PM Back real quick during lunch--Lean Cuisine and a dole fruit cup along with a Crystal Light Lemonade. Marti--my work-out partner it's actually someone that I met there--never knew her before but we have the same work schedule and end up there at the same times--we leave post its for each other if we miss each other for more than two times....DH wants to get either a total gym or a Bowflex Extreme in the fall--At 46 he's not losing the weight as easy as he used to though in the summer we do walk the dogs in the paths in the woods more (they have a doggy door and a fenced in yard to come and go as they please) and we are both more active with upkeep of the outside. He has that seasonal disorder and is really affected when the days are shorter and puts on weight over the winter. Jane--hope you have a safe & fun trip!! Robin--our little area has survived losing two people to downsizing that weren't replaced and then we were given an ongoing project that is loads of work. The co-worker who was in the hospital due to an infection and diabetes attack will be out for quite awhile. Next to me she has the most work that is very detailed. She's 61 and I have always said when she retires I am too - she would be the most difficult person to replace in the whole area including myself. She gets a skin graft on her foot where they removed the three toes after Memorial Day and I truly doubt that she wil be back full time until fall. We are limping along and there are a few things that only she has done that I will have to take to her at home to show me what to do. Right now her eyes are really giving her problems--they say she will need to get her eyes checked and maybe a new perscription after her body adjusts to her sugar levels being under control. well I really have to get back to work now!! Michelle 05-09-2006, 02:22 PM Katiecat ~ I'm too frustrated with the pedometer thing. I'm taking it back and just keep doing my exercising. I guess I don't have the patience to keep messing with it.:?: Jane ~ I saw your story on page 9 of the book. You are an inspiration and you're doing so good!;) I've thought of doing WW online, but I don't know for sure, because it's still a little expensive.:o Marti ~ It's another beautiful day here in Oregon! Your pedometer is very accurate. I'm just not good with technological things, and my husband couldn't figure it out either, so back it goes to the store on Thursday!:^: suetalks 05-09-2006, 03:17 PM Hello JL's. I am slowly getting back to normal here. It has been a rough two weeks or more. We sat with my terminally ill BIL for 6 days and into the night some of the time. DH has a large family so the siblings were there and being supportive, even doing the nursing during the day. We did have a lady stay nights. When he passed away our sons came from CA. they just left this morning. (I had to get up at 4:30 to get them to the airport...ugh!) Nothing worse than saying good-bye, except saying good-bye when you are so totally exhausted. :) We had some time together since they were here for 6 days, but the first few days were not the greatest...viewing and funeral. I did have a cook-out Sun. for the sons, DD and her family, my Mom and aunt. Meanwhile, our house roof trusses went up yesterday. It is coming along great. I love to go over there and sit in what will be my back yard..it is shady and cool. Sorry, I never did get the photos posted and don't know if I can figure it out. I WILL try. Food and exercise wise...I am a real DUD the past few weeks. Talk about stress eating. I have been drinking my water and Crystal Light and going to the loo...but fear I haven't chosen too wisely in the food department. How can you when everyone brings pies, cakes, chicken and noodles, meatloaf?...OH my goodness..I ate alot! Today I am trying to get back on the wagon....ON the wagon, I am not pulling the wagon. So we will see what happens this week. I have not and will not weigh until Mon. and will probably faint when I see that number. Okay Ladies, I have gabbed enough and need to get some cleaning done. I love having guests, but hate the work it creates. Of course, I hate all housework!! BBLater da fat n da furious 05-10-2006, 01:59 AM Sue, I am sorry you had some tough times recently...hugs! Michelle,,,girl take it back and get another one! Save your mentality! Jules, good lunch,,,did you get all your water in? I didn't do well with the water but fantastic with the food. Have to be honest and say day 1, no binge. Robin, ah man that has got to be hard to handle...do you have any support system at work that you can talk to? HR dept? Marti,,,with going in the summer it should be beautiful there,,,you two are so lucky. I didn't know you can see Alcatraz at night? SPOOOKY! I redid my bio, changed to my full name, added my weights, and am coming clean. I have gained 11-13 lbs since my surgery. I have been emotionally eating my way to the biggest I have ever been. I have quit theatre so I can focus on my weight, no racing off to do whatever. I don't want to have anything distracting me from what I need to do. Its going to take 4-5 months till I see the Dr. I had been freaking this past 2 weeks...but the last 2 days,,,a calm came over me. I will start my own lifestyle till I see this Dr. I am going to try to wean myself off of sugar, I am a binge eater. Stress triggers this need to eat sugary carbs. whewww didn't think I would actually say all this,,, have hated feeling like this,,and found myself really emotional over how I could of gotten this way. Talked alot to Monte about this, and know I have his support. I have this great boss whom I have talked and feel connected with, (we think the same way/ she just seems to be able to vocally say whats going on in my head) I am going to try and learn how to blog,,,Im not all that computer savy. Possibly post my now pics (shudder) and track my journey. Michelle 05-10-2006, 02:29 AM Hi Angelia ~~ I LOVE your name...very pretty!;) I think it's so good how you're refocusing and coming clean on everything and also admitting your downfalls. I have help things in so much in the past, and I worry that people will think I'm just a depressing person venting and not want to hear it. I have been having problems the last couple of days with being very down and totally off track! I just hate it how stress and emotions can really throw me off! I just don't understand how come I just cant focus and get with the program and get the weight off! This weight thing has been the HARDEST thing for me to ever go through in my life. I think having kids was even easier than this. I hope you have a good evening and a happy Wednesday! Marti 05-10-2006, 03:03 AM Don't post here....head on over to #188.:carrot: vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
