HI
I have been in and out of this thread! depending on which dr i was seeing
there was the one who wanted me on the table in under a month (SCARY)
the one who didn't take any insurance (not feasible)
now I have a consultation at a group that are top of the line and take my insurance even the nutritionist and Psych do
these people are the directors of laproscopy and bariatric surgery at their hospital
they did al roker's surgery
they are also fixing the botched Surgery my sis had when she had Roux N y
her brilliant Dr put a staple on an ulcer!
4 years later and lots of pain and probs she still says she's glad she did it
Anyway My question:
My insurance requires 6 months of medically monitored weight loss. I have already tried this in 2001-2002 Meridia orlistat (the fat blocker) and glucophage (I'm not even diabetic) nothing worked
is that too long ago to cite? I have been seriously dieting and have been losing and gaining the same 15 pounds over and over
Thanks,
Kierie
It depends on your insurance carrier. For most of them no, its not that far long. It proves that you have indeed been under a doctors care for weight loss for over 6 months straight.
What you should do is write down EVERY (yes I know) EVERY diet you have ever been on, the dates, and how much you lost / gained. Kinda like writing your medical history. Your surgeon will collect all this information and submit it to the insurance companies. THe more you write the better.
KO,
I just went through this process. I have United/Mamsi healthcare and had to weight in with my doctor once a month for 6-months (don't miss one or you start over). This was in conjunction this my weight loss history and psych. evaluation.
Aetna just got it I also have United healthcare as I haven't cancelled it yet
Aetna hopefully will qualify me for a new scooter.
I'm hoping I can emphasize the degeneration of my joints all of em as a major factor ankles knees hips all going fast and I'm only going to be 30 in a month
the joys of CP but hey I have cute Freckles
