Support Groups - Back in Kindergarten***Warning Food Porn May Occur****

I feel like I am back in kindergarten in many ways.... personal, sometimes at work and now with the weight loss. I have done so many things wrong over the years.....emotional eating, pills for weight loss, eating the wrong things, failed diets, etc. :o

Now it's time to start fresh, kinda like back in kindergarten. I have switched from Coke (cola for any questions) to water though I need to drink more of it daily. I am trying to not snack between meals--including trips around the office building dipping for chocolate from the candy jars......:dizzy:

Is anyone interested in trying this weight loss thing again and helping support each other in the journey??:hug:

Would love to Jules. I love that saying " Everything I learned ,I learned in Kindergarten" - something like that.
I think my biggest thing I am learning now is to lose the weight for myself ,instead of others.

Anyway, just finished lunch of pickeled beets, cottage cheese and turkey. I think I will walk tonight, I am not sure. lol

Thinking of my children and missing them.

JULES...I love this and count me in! It sounds just like me! All kinds of diets, diet pills, etc. The latest...stress eating! Between trying to sale the house, and DS being in the Army it is driving me mad! Or, I should say it was. I've taken control and am getting back on track. More than half way through 21 days of drinking my water, taking my vitamins and exercise!

SUSAN...you know I always wanted to lose weight to look good for an upcoming event or for someone else. But now it is all about ME! I think I will walk tonight too. Been stressed and didn't get any exercise so far.

I'm in it for the long haul. It may take me years to get the weight off, but I know deep down I will.

I need to get going. Seems I have been on here almost the whole day, except for taking a break to go get DS off the side of the freeway!

ok, I am back. I thought of something else. lol

Something I learned recently is how strong I really am. I now that might seem silly. I think some don't believe that. That is why I put the "Walking through the fire" under my name. I was talking with my mother about something, it might have been about my daughter and all her problems. I am not sure. Anyway. We were talking and I said "mom, I have already walked through the fire"....and I had.
Back in 88/89 when I was 250 and trying to leave a miserable marriage. When we seperated I was 135 pounds but I didn't believe in myself. I lost the weight but that wasn't enough. I never did any changes in how I thought.So, I spent the next 2 years climbing out of a depression and it wasn't even until this year that I really believed that I was a strong person. It took all this time. It took time to realize my voice counted for something. That my feelings counted for something. I deserved the best.
I still have to remind myself of that on a daily basis. I can still wake up and say "dang, you are so fat" lol .....and I have to catch myself and stop "old thinking".
So, really. I don't think it is about weight. I think it is about who we are and what we have come to believe that is the issue we have to work through.
Just my thought. Didn't think I was so wise - lol

Cristina--My daughter will be 19 in June and I am still carrying around my "pregnancy" weight gain!!!

Susan--I had a lean cuisine and some celery in the work fridge but hubby is having a bad day at work so we wnet to Quiznos--I had a small veggie on wheat with no cheese--I did get the guacomole (sp?) and a water. I have to wash my car tonight since there is a bright green pollen film on it which doesn't help my allergies.

Ellen--where are you!!!

I guess we can think of reaching our goal weight as graduation!!

I get to see my oldest daughter tomorrow! She so wants to come home. She has 2 more weeks though.

Gaby is so funny. I have to tell a Gaby story, she is growing up so fast - she is 4.

JULES...DD is 22 and I want to say the same, but...I think I've lost that weight over and over and over and over. For some reason it keeps finding me! But I am determined to get it off once and for all. Know how ya feel about the water...feel like I am drowing sometimes.

SUSAN...the slurpee story is cute! I am picturing little Miss Gaby standing there tapping her foot and pointing at you, lol. They are so cute at that age.

Gaby is just my sweetie. She is so funny and she talks now where I can understand her better. I made her a mac & cheese last night, she loves that. She will wake up in the morning and the first thing is "I want to go to the park",,,,lol wouldn't we all want that kind of life. Slurpee's and the park...:)

Susan--I agree -- 4 is such a cute age!! I wanna go to the park--no slurpees for me though...I don't think they will help the scales move in the direction that I want them too..

Cristina--I lose and then Dh gets insecure and I gain back--I did the Jack and pill diet when my Dad told me I was fat at 125 and should look like my 100 lb step sisters. I am doing this for me this time. I am not going to get depressed if the scale doesn't jump 10 lbs a week, I am not going to binge when I get upset and I am going to let hurts go.

Ellen--Missed you, I was really worried about you. I am glad your okay now that you got your Susan fix.

About how to live and what to do and how to be, I learned in kindergarten.
Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate-school mountain, but there in the sandpile at nursery school.
These are the things I learned:
Share everything.
Play fair.
Don't hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don't take things that aren't yours.
Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life--learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and
stick together.
Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the styrofoam cup: The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or

Four is such a sweet age, oh to be that young again or at least have the kids that young again I would settle for that , they grow up so fast, still waiting to be a Grandma, maybe after my daughter gets married this Christmas I will be in the running. LOL I even bid on the most beautiful pair of baby girl booties all crocheted and covered in rosebuds and pearls they were of coure white with pink rosebuds, problem was someone jumped in and outbid me while I was sleeping :lol: Hey isn't that a movie title While I was sleeping or was it While you were sleeping, or possibly I just made the whole thing up :lol:
I went through the same kinds of things with my ex he would tear me down emotionally till I broke I spent a lot of time alone locked up in my room , hmm much like now ,but I can get out now :lol: To bad they just can't trust that our victories in life don't threaten the relationship if it is solid to begin with. I am at the ex's. I had stopped along the way for a mango slurpee. It was so hot outside and it sounded good,so I stopped and bought one. I had a tuna salad for dinner.
Gaby is cranky. She had all her clothes off when I got here. Her sister let her play in the bathroom sink and she got all wet - so the clothes came off.
Spoke with the older daughter and seems she is going through the angry stage now. F this and F that. She seems to realize she is staying another 2 weeks - her pleas have fallen on deaf ears. So now she is mad. I see her in the morning.
I remember the Jeff, Mary and Mike books Ellen. I think that was 1st grade.
Anyway, maybe I will take a fat stroll..... mean a fast stroll and be back later.

Christina,I was going to ask you why you are picking your son up from the side of the freeway, but you answered it already. My boys are all grown up and I still get calls like that.. in fact my ds#4 has my car again tonight. He had it from Jan. of this year till last week, now his newly purchased car is in the shop already and it won't be back till next week, so I am the lucky one who gets to loan him my car again. But that is what moms are for right?

Susan, so Rachel is going thru the angry stage now...don't you hate when they say *F* everything? And such young kids too. I must be really old or old fashioned or both..but I hate that word. To tell you the truth, and now don't laugh, but I was 22 and pregnant before I ever even heard or knew what that word meant. I guess I lived a sheltered life.

Anyway, I want to join your class and begin a new to lose weight. I am riding my bike every night, at least 5 days a week. But I just can't get in enough water. If it is warm enough at work I can drink about 6 glasses but if its cold or I'm busy I just don't get it in.. course when I do, then I'm up all night going to the potty. And coffe counts, its still liquid.. but I can't drink coffee, can't have caffiene or chocolate..but you can still talk about Snickers, it won't bother me...

Oh, Susan, one of my grandson's is 4, he comes up with some funny things. And my oldest dgd is 5, she likes to be the teacher and she can crack us up...she is so funny.. enjoy Gaby, they grow up so fast...and it's a long time between your own and the grandkids...

It is very sad that she says the F word. I remember her as a baby , she was the prettiest thing. Always on the go and a smile on her face - getting in trouble.

I was sheltered too. My first boyfriend was my husband. I kissed 1 guy before that but otherwise I didn't know anything - at 25 years old.

Headstart is a Federally funded program for low income families - preschool. Gaby can go next year M/W/F. They get breakfast and lunch and it is all free. lol Thank goodness. They went on my last years income and now that she is in she gets to go in next year - even though I am earning more. She also has her speech problem that she gets help for.
I think you mean Rachel, she is in the one in treatment. She has 1 week behind her and 2 weeks to go. She can not see her friend. Have 2 weeks to figure that out.
You don't think a baby would be the cutest thing?? :)

Hi Ellen and Susan ~ Thank you for the messages letting me know where all of you are. I know I don't post as often, but I do like to check in and see how all of you are doing when I can. I love everyone's sense of humor and joking around. I don't know what happened, but I'm happy I can chat here with ya! It sounds like all of you had a pretty good day. Mine started out so good, and the beautiful weather was great, and then I got a call from my cousin this afternoon informing me that my grandma is in the hospital and not doing good at all. I already lost my grandpa on March 13, and I'm still trying to get over that. I have always been very close to my grandparents, because they helped raise my sister and I when we were younger, and we lived on their farm with them. I had just talked to my grandma last Thursday night and she sounded the best that she has since my grandpa passed away. It's so hard living 2200 miles apart, and almost all of my family live there in Iowa, where I'm originally from. I'm hoping and praying things start to look up for her, but you just can never tell from day to day when someone is getting older. I hope all of you girls have a good evening and I'll be back here tomorrow checking in again. Thanks for the invite and I'm glad I found all of you here!:hug:

It is suppose to hit 70 degrees F. today. Right now it is very foggy out. Might be a good sign. Then for the weekend they are talking down into the 50's for a high. Our weather is certainly screwed up... where is this global warming... we have colder or non existent springs, a quick summer, warm autumns and long winters....

Well, I guess I'll get ready for work. Not much else going on around here.
I rode my bike last night.:ebike: I am just doing 30 min. a day right now.That is all I have the energy for. My asthma has been acting up a lot this spring and exercising increasing the problem. But I struggle on.. I have to lose the weight.. I am doing it for me, but it sure would be nice to be slimmer for son's wedding. I know I won't be at my goal, but at least closer I hope.

Susan--I have to agree with Ginny--Babies are cute but they grow up to be teenagers!! I love my kids but there were those days in their teenage years where I was wishing for the past or trying to hurry up the future. I had a moment when I was first dealing with the empty nest thing but it passed quickly when DH reminded me of those teenage years!!! Walk away from the wink!!! Think back to the reasons you left!!! You can be friends for the kids sake but think carefully about anything more young lady!!

Michelle--I am sorry about your grandparents--it's odd how when one of the couple passes away that sometimes the other seems to not do well--Just look at Johnny & June together again.

Ellen--calling us a rather nutty bunch is putting it very mildly---but the laughs help me get through the hard times and I am glad we can do it together!! You need to pm me with your address--I have a little something for you!!

Christina--the one coworker that sold her house is moving into a camper with her hubby--she says she is really glad that the only have their one big German Shephard and no kids. They put up a small shed on their new property with a run for him. They have their well in and are waiting for septic. Another co-worker's house is also on the market and has been since last summer The only nibble they had was a couple that raises alpacas and the homeowners of the development would not allow them to be raised there even though it is in the country backed up to a farm and each lot is 5 acres. Her and her husband and 20 year son want to move up to New England to be near the rest of their families--both sets of parents are starting to need attention and their other two sons are already living there.

Well I have a pile of work and a headache to deal with!! Also have to call the dentist since I had an old filling fall out!!

Jane thought one of the members was concerned about the food image, which IS a problem with some of our members that have eating disorders and are trying to overcome triggers. She felt that if one of the Jaded Ladies was bothered, that it was best for the group to support her. So Jane asked nicely if we could leave it out, for the sake of that member. Then that member spoke up and said she had been kidding and the image didn't bother her. Ok, that happens. Issue over. Life goes on :)

But then you and another member decided that you didn't like being asked to withhold the food image and thought it was "silly" or "anal", despite the reason. Jane and others asked that we drop the issue and move on. But you refused to do so. You and the other member kept dredging it up again and again. We posted again to ask you to let it drop. Jane started a new "fresh start" thread. But we had to delete it because it turned into a 2 page thread where you kept on and on about it. Then you moved down to this forum and appear to be doing the same thing. I'm completely confused why someone would want to rehash something so trivial and turn it into an ongoing grudge :?:

So the issue isn't about the clipart. That was over in two posts. It's the endless grudge that appears to be the problem.

I'm going to point you once again to the forum rules:

I had my Lean Cuisine 280 calories and a 80 cal bowl of diced peaches. I want to go to the snack room really bad and get either a candy bar or ice cream but I am trying to hold myself back.

I just want to apologize again for being the one that Jane thought she needed to defend--it didn't have to be me as she would have probably defended any one of us. I feel so bad for all the trouble that has followed. I have had a terrible headache since it started. I usually eat when I am stressed but I am drinking water instead trying to exchange a bad habit for a healthy one.:( :( :(

We all had/have a close relationship with the MOD and maybe that is where we were hurt. You have over 6 members here in this new forum who have spent months or years in that forum, we are a close bunch of ladies, we have shared many joys and tears. For me at least it is extremely painful. Because if you know me (or my humor or the relationship we all had) I was not continuing anything but trying to share something about myself. Susan ~ I like your new avatar...very cute! I read in another thread that you used to be 250 pounds. How and when did you lose all of that weight? Your weight now is so good, and you always seem to be eating healthy. I just noticed and thought I would ask; hope you don't mind.:hug:

The avatar is just a 3fc one. The hot dog one was starting to get on my nerves because he kept chasing it and I was thinking.....I would have had that hot dog by now, I wouldn't keep chasing the stupid thing. I would have grabbed it and ate it.

I lost 110 (my top was 250 but I always say 245) from 245 to 135 twice in my lifetime. Once back in 85 (?) I lost a lot of weight in a very short time. It wasn't healthy and that was when my bulimia started. I lost the weight in 6/7 months - 110 pounds. Not good.
I lost the second 110 in 89. I did better this time and lost it over 17 months by slim fast and eating healthy and I walked 3 miles a day and climb this column in Astoria. 170 some steps. I was in the paper and on the ABC local channel in PDX. You didn't know I was a celebrity, did you??? *snicker* Anyway, when I lost I started in the bulimia again for the next 2 years. I never gained the weight back until Sept of 2005. I have gained 30 pounds back since I started the new job.
I did gain some when I had the 4 year old and lost it by Atkins shake and walking.
So, I haven't been bulimic for 4 years and I should be walking. I guess the weight doesn't bother me too much now. I know it is 30 pounds. I guess I want to just be healthy - mentally and physically - I think I have never had the 2 together in my lifetime. I think that is what I am working on now the most.,,,,,and it is hard but I feel stronger everyday in who I am and where I want to take myself in life.

Also, there was a news report that e coli is in packaged lettuce 2nd only after hamburger. Kind of scary so I have been washing the packaged lettuce.

I'm Baaaaaaaack...did ya miss me?! :lol: Bet you thought I got lost in wally world! Nope...been here since 12 or 12:30 (except for the brief trip to mail a letter) trying to catch up on posts and pm's. You ladies are keeping me busy with all the reading.

Anyway...went to WW and got that out of the way. Didn't do the exercise because I had other things to take care of and that is the last thing that is on my mind. Didn't do it yesterday either but took my free day for that. Poor DH doesn't know it yet, but he will be joining me for a three mile walk this evening. Will hit IF tomorrow and Friday. As long as I get my three days in it doesn't matter what three days it is. Anyway...so, took a card to my neighbor to thank him because May is National Military Appreciation Month. He is home on leave from the reserves but leaving Sat., heading back to Iraq. So we had a little conversation and I thanked him for serving our country. Then off to take a little gift to another neighbor and had a little chat with her and got to hold her 2 week old baby. The reason for the visit and gift...her new bundle of joy Ashley Tate. Oh man, she is adorable and makes me want another! She let me hold her and I didn't want to let her go. Of course I had to give her doggie, Sammy some attention too!

SUSAN...you are my inspiration! :hug: You have certainly come a long way and I so admire you for that. I just don't think I could ever do it. There's a lady at IF that has lost over 100 pounds and I just am in awe of her and you. If it were me, I think I would have given up but you ladies keep going. Talk about strong! GINNY...yeppers-DS is having to drive DH's truck and DH is driving Josh's truck-no one drives my car but me! LOL Well, sometimes DH. But he doesn't like it because he is 6 ft. 4 and has a hard time getting in and out of it. When DS took his car in last, they told him they were afraid that it was on it's last leg. Didn't think it would last much longer. Can't find anything wrong with it either, said it's just old. It will run fine and then just die. After it sits for a while it will start up, go a little ways and then die. Anyway, I hate water! But I know I have to drink and I know I need to drink it so here lately I have been forcing myself to. Andjust when I think I am liking it...it makes me want to throw up. But...I set 4 16.9 oz. bottles on the counter every morning and that is what I aim for every day. The funny thing, I am drinking more, 5-6 bottles and I never thought I would. And talking about weather...ours is screwy. One day it is 82 (yesterday), today it is 70 something, tomorrow it is supposed to be 60 something. It has been this way for the last 2 or three weeks now. Sorry you asthma is acting up, and WTG on the bike riding. 30 mns. is absolutely better than nothing at all!

I have been told that I have upset someone that I consider a dear friend by my posting on both the JL thread and this one. I will not be back to post but will pm with anyone else who is not mad at me for doing so. I didn't want anyone to think I had just stopped posting and wonder why.
