Donna72664 05-01-2006, 01:03 PM OOps my post ended up on the April board. How can I get it over here on the new one? Donna meowee 05-01-2006, 01:50 PM Afraid I don't know, Donna. If I ever find a moderator to fix my lower case 'j' on 'June', I'll ask your question, too. Looks like neither one of us should have gotten out of bed this morning. ;) Hopefully things will get better. :carrot: redballoon 05-02-2006, 01:17 AM Donna72664 Happy May Day to all of you: The weather here is going to be beautiful today. I have walked my first mile and will walk my second one after work. Cheryl: So sorry for your foster daughter, how old is she? She is lucky to have you. And you know you have all of us for support. Good for you on not letting the stress cause you to overeat, it's so easy to turn to food. Thanks, I did have a wonderful time with my daughter and grandson. We got a lot of exercise in, and didn't spend much money either!!!! Hy: Don't you hate spending the whole weekend getting food ready for the week ahead? But I love it come Monday when I need something quick to fix for supper. It's a new month so we can start over if we need to. I sure do, I've really been slacking in the exercise department. Have made a calendar and put my goal weight on the last day of the month, then I put some type of exercise on each day of the month to help me achieve that goal weight. Hope that will help. It's on the fridge for the whole world to see Meowee: I like the new look of the board for May and June thanks Everyone have a great day, hope to get back tomorrow to talk to you Donna There you go, Donna! :) __________________ meowee 05-02-2006, 09:15 AM Good Morning, everybody . . . where are you hiding? hyacinth merry 05-02-2006, 10:11 AM Well, thanks as always to meowee for getting all set up for a new month  Meowee I didn't copy it to quote here, but I liked what you said about it being a new month and a new start if anyone needs one of those!! I think it IS important to look at what has worked and what hasn't...so thanks for that little reminder. I was out shopping all day yesterday - my calves are actually sore this morning - lol!! That was more of a workout than I realized! I bought a new iron and couple very nice fans called vornado - and everything else purchased were gifts for family B'days and mom's day on both sides :-) My DH got some tennies and new slacks and shirts too. We both agreed it was just one of those days where we found everything we were looking for - I probably should have bought a lottery ticket on the way home - lol!! I still have a drippy nose, but at least the major cold stuff seems to be over. Hy the slim me 05-02-2006, 11:15 AM Good morning everyone, Hope you're all doing well! I am still limping around from this leg problem! I've decided now that it's probally a shin-splint. I'll have one of the doctors look at it tomorrow. Not sure that you can do anything with them any way. But it has sure put an end to my exercising for now. I still lifted my weights yesterday. But I MISS my walks! Thanks, meow, for the new board! Donna, Good for you! You've got your exercise all planned out! That is such a help and you feel so good when you reach your goals. Hy, You should have bought a lottery ticket girl!! How often do you go to the mall and find EVERYTHING you are looking for? Like never!!! Glad you're feeling a little better! Those cold can really knock you! Sounds like you got all your walking done! Take care all, and go make it a good day! Freda Donna72664 05-02-2006, 03:31 PM [QUOTE=redballoon][color=red] There you go, Donna! :) :^: RED: THANKS FOR GETTING ME OVER HERE DONNA Cheryl120 05-02-2006, 10:34 PM Hi Ladies, Just a quick check in. Will know tomorrow if my grazing is going to affect me. I have slacked off with the exercising, need to get my butt in gear. Writting it on the calender is a great idea. I'll be back tomorrow to do personals. Cheryl meowee 05-03-2006, 08:37 AM Hello, gang . . . I'm feeling a little cloudy and overcast this morning . . . just like the weather. Just one of those days, I guess. :( I did get to move my ticker .8 to the right this morning and usually that sets me up for a good day, but for some reason all I can see this morning is the length of the journey still in front of me. :?: Strange ???? Oh well, I'm sure I'll be back to my old self again, really soon. In the meantime, I think I'll sort of hibernate today and keep on reminding myself that it was the tortoise that won the race. Thanks for understanding and for being here. See you soon, gang. Keep on moving and shaking and heading in the downward direction. :carrot: :grouphug: girlieyorkie 05-03-2006, 05:40 PM Good Morning, everybody . . . where are you hiding? I've been hiding in the corner with my home study CEU catalog. I just realized it was time to get my CEU done to get my RN license renewed, so I've been busy. Sorry. I still renew my license biannually altho I have not been in the work force for almost 20 years now. I don't know why I bother, it's not like I'm going to start working again, well, maybe I guess to maintain some kind of identity.:?: Hello, gang . . Meowee~I hear you. We all wish it would go faster, but I guess we all need to be patient.:( Elyn...Are you able to buy some of these products on line and have them shipped to you? Morning Star has veggie sausage pattys, soy crumbles, corndogs and burgers. They are all excellent. I also buy Boca burgers, they are lower in points than morning star. Cheryl Cheryl~It's not possible to buy these products on line, besides it would be impractical because of import taxes, and with our strict food and drug regulations - it will take forever to finally get hold of them. Those OTC cold medicines you have over there are considered illegal/regulated in this country. Anyway, I checked the Boca homesite and their products look delicious.  Sorry to hear about your foster daughters’ boyfriend. I hope she’s OK. Freda~ I hope your leg is better. It is painful~ I used to get them when I was running (many moons ago). Do you do leg exercises to strengthen the shins? They really help especially if you run, jog or do a lot of brisk walking. Good night everyone.http://bffc.net/icons2/sleepy.gif the slim me 05-04-2006, 09:18 AM Good Morning everyone, Looks like it's going to be a beautiful, warm day! I promised my Gd that we would go to some garage sales to find some clothes for her "baby". Yeah, I have shin splints. I had the Dr. look at them at work yesterday. He said if they weren't better in a week we would get x-rays. And he gave me some stretching exercises to do. In the mean time I guess no more walking for me. Meow, Slow and easy does it too! Any movement to the right of the scale is a good move! Yorkie, Didn't know you were a nurse too! Although you say you haven't practiced in a long time. Once a nurse always a nurse! thanks, I am starting with the stretches. probally why I got them in the first place, didn't stretch out well! Everyone, have a good day! Freda Cheryl120 05-04-2006, 10:03 AM Morning Everyone, Just a quick check in before I do my workout with Richard. Had my weigh-in yesterday and I gained a pound. Not surprised with my grazing over the weekend. At least I grazed on healthy foods and not junk, so that's a good thing. I'm munching down broccoli/mushrooms, and my husband is finishing off a bag of potato chips  I wasn't even tempted! YEAH ME:carrot: :carrot: I'll be back later to do personals, but want to get my excercise in I know it will warm me up, and I'm cold. Cheryl meowee 05-04-2006, 10:17 AM Morning, gang . . . I'm on my second day of blue and cloudy funk. My eating and exercising reflects my mood too . . . like Cheryl I've been overdoing it on healthy stuff because I don't have any really bad 'junk' in the house, but too much of a good thing is still too much. :o Too bad I don't overdo it on exercise when I feel like this; it tends to go the other way. :( Hope you all have a better day that I'm having and once again, thanks for being here to listen to me whine. Keep on moving and shaking gang. :carrot: Donna72664 05-04-2006, 03:29 PM :tantrum: I have HAD it !!!!! Now that darn scale added 2 lbs. Could it be that my not exercising for almost a week had anything to do with it ?? I refuse to change my tracker, I will get back to that weight. I've kicked the exercise into high gear this week so maybe next week I can have a loss.:?: Meowee::( Sorry you are in a funk. Sometimes the weather seems to do that to us. You will get up and going real soon, at least you're not eating all that junk food, good for you, I always want comfort foods when I get down. Hugs to you to get back on track. Slim: Take it easy till you get those shin splints better, don't want to make them worse. Have to get going, time to walk on the treadmill for awhile then I want to get in some pilates. Keep up the good work gang, talk to you later. DONNA girlieyorkie 05-04-2006, 07:02 PM Hi everyone~ Just checking in to confess that I've been really bad today. We had dinner at an Italian restaurant and I was out of control. Vegetarian pasta dish in creamy sauce, vegetarian pizza, wine, Italian ice cream with chocolate sauce in huge portions! Why do Italians always serve big portions? I wish all the restaurants were French~ they don't pile your plate with food. At least it's all veggies-right? wrong ~ but too much of a good thing is still too much. :o There you go. I've confessed. But why do I still feel guilty?:?: :( Good night everyone.http://bffc.net/icons2/sleepy.gif Gail C 05-04-2006, 08:23 PM Hi everyone, I've not checked in for a week or so. I'm glad you're all still here! I had to do a little reading to catch up. Looks like we're all still determined to win this battle of the bulge, even though we may lose a little skirmish now and then. I didn't go to WW this morning because I had something else I had to do today; so naturally knowing I wasn't going this morning, I went and ate too much last night! Lost that skirmish!! Sometimes I'm so predictable. But I'm still going to keep on keeping on. I know I can do this, and so can we all! Right?! meowee 05-05-2006, 10:54 AM Good Morning, chichadees . . . the sun is still hiding but I'm feeling quite a bit brighter. Yesterday finished up pretty good, plan-wise, although the exercise consisted of only a little mall-crawling. I didn't sleep well last night and I am a little tired this morning, but all in all, I'm definitely in better humour. ;) Donna . . . it's probably just some weird-water-weight. That scale- can be so frustrating. Sometimes it's as simple as the way you are standing. With mine just an inch off centre can make a pound or so of difference. Keep doing the good stuff and you will be fine. Elyn . . . get back in control, girl. This is another day and you know that we are in this for the long haul. Sometimes a little slip is good for us; it makes us more careful on the slippery slopes. Gail . . . glad to see you are still with us. Also glad to see that you know a skirmish or two doesn't mean the weight-war has been lost. It isn't over until the fat-lady has stopped singing because she's not the fat lady anymore. Hang in there, girl. Have a good day, gang. Keep fighting the good fight. We can all win the Bulge-Battle together. See you soon. :carrot: meowee 05-06-2006, 02:50 PM Hey gang . . . it's Saturday . . . where are you hiding? Hope to heaare from everybody soon. Cheryl . . . HAPPY BIRTHDAY . . . wherever you are. Have a great day. hyacinth merry 05-06-2006, 03:33 PM It's Hy just stopping in to say hello  It's been crazy here with me and my cold/allergies/whatever the heck that all was and then one of my dogs having terrible back pain. Still not sure what caused that but hauling him around through the house in a kennel (crate rest) was NO fun for me. But I did it anyway - lol! Anyway, we both are 100% better now :carrot: Also I had some major wierd deals happening with a couple message boards I own - the problem was with the site host service, not the members. Foodwise I'm still on the Atkins diet but did try some of that brand's b'fast bars this week as I was rushed and having a hard time getting breakfast- I think I just have to forgo that stuff tho. I seem to be OK with NO sugar or NO sugar-substitutes of ANY kind...trust me, I've tried them all too. For my particular metabolism, they just seem to cause a stall. (BTW, I'm not boohooing about this, just telling it like it is :D ) I'm going to try a "pizza" recipe tonight from a low-carb forum...no crust and for me, instead of the tiny amount of tomato sauce the recipe call for, I'm gonna try just diced fresh tomatoes instead. I'll let you all know how it turns out and if it's worth the effort! Have a good weekend all :-) Hy hyacinth merry 05-06-2006, 03:39 PM Cheryl . . . HAPPY BIRTHDAY . . . wherever you are. Have a great day. Oh Cheryl, a Very Happy Birthday to you also!! You are :queen: for the day :-) Enjoy! Hy girlieyorkie 05-06-2006, 06:16 PM Have a great day Cheryl~ http://bffc.net/icons2/birthday.gif :hb: :woo: :woo: Meowee~It is nice to hear that you're in a better mood. I'm back on track. Hy~I'm glad that you and your furry friend are doing good again. Our thread have really slowed down.:( :( Where is everybody?:?: :?: Good night everyone.http://bffc.net/icons2/sleepy.gif Cheryl120 05-06-2006, 10:27 PM Hello Ladies, Thought I'd better check in with you all. Thanks so much for the Birthday wishes. My hubby took me out for lunch at a Mexican place before he had to go to work. I had a small chicken tamale, small shredded beef burrito and a shredded chicken taco. Also a small serving of beans and rice. No chips or salsa. I stayed within my points. Also got some walking in today and went to the movies with my friend. Went and saw Mission Impossible 3, it was very good. Got the last sawtooth boarder on my quilt this morning, now I'm ready to start sewing on the kids. Hope you all have a great weekend and the weather is nice where you are at. Cheryl Cheryl120 05-07-2006, 09:04 PM Good Evening, It has not been a good day. I burnt the roof of my mouth at lunch with a piece of carrot and it hurts like:censored: Already loss some skin the size of a half dollar. Can't believe some of the stupid things I do at times. We had beautiful weather today, almost 80, but now we are under a sever thunderstorm watch. Just so no tornado's decide to pay me a visit, I'll be just fine. Cleaned house after church so I can spend tomorrow and sew.:D Nothing wrong with me! Cheryl meowee 05-07-2006, 09:29 PM Wow . . . is it ever quiet around here this weekend. I was wondering exactly the same thing, Elyn. Glad everybody is well again at your house, Hy. Having a sick pet is just as bad as having a sick child. Maybe even more so because they can't explain where it hurts. Glad you did well at your birthday lunch, Cheryl. I know how you feel, I either burn my mouth or bite my cheek with regularity. Look on the bright side, you won't be craving food for a few days. ;) It was nice and sunny, but fairly cool in Atlantic Canada today. I got a fair bit done on my quilted clothing projects. Good thing since tomorrow will probably be all tied up with the infamous work-project again. Keep moving and shaking, gang. See you all tomorrow. :carrot: Donna72664 05-08-2006, 12:05 PM :sorry: Cheryl: I'm sorry I missed your birthday.Sounds like you had a good day sure sorry about burning your mouth. Why do we do those things? I have to brag about my weekend :cp: I didn't eat nearly enough and got lots of exercise. Hubby and I went wild turkey hunting. Lots of walking up and down hills. I actually got to shoot my own turkey this year. Talk about being some place that is totally relaxing. Out in the canyons among all the cedar trees and all you can hear are the wild birds and a plane fly over once in awhile. Had a hen duck fly into a pond we were near and watched her for nearly a half hour just splashing and diving. Well maybe we are a little crazy, but God sure created a beautiful world that many don't ever see or get to enjoy. I told you last week that I put my exercises on a calendar, different ones for each day. I'm happy to report I did all of them each day. Will try that little trick again this week. MON: Walk 2 miles TUE: 15 minutes of stability ball---15 minutes weights WED: 15 minutes treadmill---15 minutes Nu-step THUR: 30 minutes pilates FRI: Walk 2 miles WEEKEND: As much movement as possible !!!:carrot: Thanks gals for all of your support, I truly need it and appreciate it. Hope all of you can get outside this week and enjoy the great outdoors DONNA hyacinth merry 05-08-2006, 01:09 PM I read something this weekend that really struck a chord with me: "When you were willing to say what you really wanted, something just might help you along" - from "The Year of Pleasures" by Elizabeth Berg The important phrase for me being "really wanted" - not just some general thing, but making myself examine specifically what I'm looking for...hmmm. Gonna try it! Hope it's a good week for all :-) Hy meowee 05-09-2006, 07:44 PM Sorry I missed you yesterday, gang, but I see it has been quiet in here anyway. I had a very busy Monday and today has been even busier although in some ways more pleasant. Started out really rotten. the bad old scale- decided I had gained more than 4 pounds this week. I was a little overly indulgent with the salt last night but I din't think it was worthy of 4 pounds. Anyway, I know it's not real, but it's depressing none the less. :( And I refuse to move my ticker to the left. so there! Spent most of the day in a another town about 50 miles away. First a periodontist appointment (never fun), followed by lunch and shopping with a friend (definitely more enjoyable). However, I made a very bad lunch choice (fish and chips) but then I only ate half of the order (my system just can't handle the grease anymore since I've been feeding it better). Good for you with the exercise routine, Donna. It's sure to bring great rewards. Definitely good 'food for thought' there, Hy. That;s the best kind of food (and the least fattening, too). Looks like tomorrw will be a busy work-project day since I kind of got behind today. Hopefully I'll get a chance to drop in here, though. Keep on moving and shaking in the right direction, gang. See you soon. :carrot: hyacinth merry 05-10-2006, 12:15 PM Well this is actually kind of exciting as I took the quote from the book to heart and have been praying for MYSELF!!!! This is not something I normally do and it admittedly feels a little odd - lol!! But guess what, the past couple days have seemed to go more smoothly - I feel a little more at peace with my Atkins program and the thyroid deal and what the scales will say next Monday when I weigh in again!!! Kind of cool, huh? :D Hy hyacinth merry 05-10-2006, 12:27 PM I had seen somewhere on one of the groups a mention of a series by Leslie Sansone called "Walk Away the Pounds" so I reserved a copy at my local library. (I'd never heard of her before) I just got a chance to sit down and actually WATCH it yesterday, the first session, and I think I'm gonna try!! The first session is titled "Get Up and Get Started" timed at 18 mins and during the session, you do a mile. I'm sure someone here has probably already tried this system and all - just mentioning tho. I really like DVD/tapes that are realistic when it comes to time committments. Yes, I could be all wonderful and spend two hours a day working out, but I don't, so sue me!! Just kidding! Maybe I can't/won't commit to 2 hours, but I can certainly commit to 18 minutes ;) Hy Donna72664 05-10-2006, 03:59 PM Hy: I have her tape "Walk Away the Pounds" 2 mile walk. I love it. It is so easy to do at home and it really isn't that hard. I found that I lost pretty good with it,but then my vcr went on the fritz and haven't gotten a different one. You will enjoy her. Good luck. DONNA meowee 05-10-2006, 05:41 PM I've got a couple of WATP tapes . . . Leslie is a delight and I totally agree with you Hy and Donna . . . it's nice to be able to watch something that does seem made with 'real' people in mind. My day is ticking along. Busy, busy again . . . but it does keep me off the streets . . . unfortunately it also keeps me from doing a lot of fun stuff. Doing great on the food and water parts, but about the only things getting much exercise are my fingers and brain. ;) Have a great moving and shaking evening, gang. See you tomorrow. :carrot: hyacinth merry 05-10-2006, 10:49 PM I did the Walk Away the pounds - 1 mile walk - late this morning and what a great program - heck, like I said, I can fit 18 mins into my schedule!! The library copy is being requested by someone else so I can't keep for long, but I think I may just go ahead an buy my own copy. I really liked what I did today. This is just me, but I am not interested in standing in front of the TV for an hour doing ANY exercise. A half-hour is managable and do-able. I have a yoga CD that is like 20 mins and that too is one I do all the time. If the shorter sessions make it realistic for me to committ to then so be it! Has anyone used the weight balls or whatever she calls them (hopefully not "blue balls" :o ) The lightest home weights I have are 3 lbs, just wondering if those would be comparable. Hy Cheryl120 05-11-2006, 01:46 PM Hi Gang, I've been down in the dumps the last couple of days, feel like having a good cry would make me feel tons better. Very discouraged with the scales. I weighed myself with clothes yesterday and I was 338.4. Left for WW and I weighed 342.3:( I've decided for my own peace of mind to go by what my scales says and forget WW. I have also decided to attend WW for 2 more months and then I'm going to quit and get my support here and put the $11.00 weekly aside for something special I want/or need. Hy...I work out sometimes to Leslie's WATP for older adults. In it, she uses glove hand weights. I'm thinking of picking up a pair this weekend while in Fargo. I have 2lb hand weight, but I think the gloves would be eaiser to use. Donna...I live in rural North dakota and love all the wildlife around us. I love March when the geese and ducks start returning and spend the night in the field behind us or any puddle big enough to swim in. May is when the Pelicans return to Meadow Lake, which is only 2 miles from us, plus the other water fowl that call this area home. A month ago, I saw my first pair of bald eagels in our area. After being on the endanger species list, they are starting to come back. Now we are getting woke up at 4:30 am by the meadowlarks, morning doves, chickadees, golden finches, robins and wrens that sing so beautifully. Linda...Hope that scales is starting to be nice to you! Hope you all have a good day. Cheryl meowee 05-11-2006, 03:44 PM Hi gang . . . Another busy one . . . but I think it will slow down for a couple of weeks now, maybe, I hope. :^: Weather is a little overcase but pretty good over all. Hy . . . in one of the WATP tapes I've got she uses glove-weights. I've used my little 2 lb hand weights. I imagine the gloves would be easier since you wouldn't have to think about them very much. But, hey, whatever works for you would probably be fine. Cheryl . . . sorry you are down in the dumps. (so glad that never happens to me, :o oh ya.). I think that's a great idea to save your meeting fees for a special treat for yourself. See you soon, gang . . . Keep it moving and shaking until then. :carrot: hyacinth merry 05-11-2006, 05:32 PM I've been down in the dumps the last couple of days, feel like having a good cry would make me feel tons better. Cheryl Cheryl, doesn't this simply suck when this happens?? I hear you girl!! Here's a sympathy hug:  It's disappointing yes, but I like that you have taken it as a sign that perhaps you need to reassess your program with WW. I just believe that kind of thinking is a healthy and a positive thing. And hopefully you know I'm in NO WAY trashing WW's. It's just that every single person is different and a wonderful program that works for many...well, it just might not be the right one for you. That's something only you can determine. Thanks for the info on the hand weights I was asking about re the WOTP DVD :-) Right now I'm doing NO weights just to get familiar with the routine. Hy Gail C 05-12-2006, 12:05 PM Hi everyone! I love this thread and I'm sorry I've been so neglectful lately in checking in. You all are so friendly and supportive; wouldn't it be great if we could just get together for a lunch date? I've been on a plateau for the last couple of weeks; but finally yesterday, I lost 2 pounds!! :carrot: I hadn't moved my weight tracker down for a while so I got to move it 4 pounds lower. And best of all, at a family reunion Sunday, someone observed that I looked like I was losing weight. That is a motivator, because although I am getting back into some of my smaller size clothes, I don't look any skinner to myself. I am envious of those of you who have been enjoying nature! A couple of years ago, I started getting interested in bird watching and I would love to see all those you were mentioning, Cheryl. I don't actually go on bird watching jaunts, just have a bunch of bird feeders in my back yard, and I drive a little slower now sometimes, and even take the country route, just to be on the look out for birds. I have seen birds I never noticed before; especially the little red and brown house finches, which are really common, but I had never remembered seeing. Cheryl, I've noticed that we seem to have a lot in common. I have been a foster parent also; but now I am fortunate that I am able to "foster parent" my own daughter who is multiply handicapped. That way she gets to stay home with me, and I get paid to take care of her. Kudos to those of you who are keeping up consistently with the exercise; one of my many weak areas. Have a great weekend, and Happy Mother's Day to those of you who are! meowee 05-12-2006, 05:58 PM Hi gang . . . I've been having something of a funny day. Haven't done much of anything but it's been exhausting just the same. :dizzy: Our weather is gorgeous . . . mid 60's and nice and sunny . . . wish it could stay just this way all the time. Congratultions on the SV and the NSV, Gail. A good weigh-in and a nice compliment help so much to keep us heading in the right direction. I think it absolutely wonderful that you are able to be a foster-parent for your own child. Stories like yours renew my faith that 'the system' actually can work. Hope you are still having fun with Leslie, Hy. See you later, gang. Keep moving and shaking. :carrot: Donna72664 05-13-2006, 05:26 PM Hi gals, just had a few minutes.I'm at my daughter's and she is busy making,of all things, a cherry cheesecake for dessert tonight.Guess we are having a cookout so we can meet the boyfriends parents. Had her son's pre-school graduation last night.BIG WEEKEND!!! Meowee thanks for all the hugs and support, the water weight or whatever it was has finally gone bye-bye.:carrot: My tracker is right now. Hope that I don't blow all of it this weekend. So far I have done really good. Will let you know Monday. The weather here in northeastern Colorado is beautiful today. I went out early this morning and cut a big bouquet of lilacs for the table.DD has a huge windbreak of them. The smell is almost overwhelming. Hope all of you are enjoying your Mother's Day weekend. DONNA meowee 05-13-2006, 08:16 PM Hi gang . . . beautiful day again. However, I'm not doing as well. Sort of had a piggish lunch that lasted until supper time. If I can just keep slugging in the water, I should be OK for the day. Right now I'm so full of it, I gurgle when I move. :dizzy: Oh, Donna, I just love the scent of lilacs. Can hardly wait until our pop out. Should be soon. Have a great weekend. See you all really soon. :carrot: Cheryl120 05-14-2006, 12:20 PM Happy Mother's Day Ladies, Gail...Don't it make you feel good when people notice you are lossing weight. Just gives you that extra boost to stay on program.:D Congrats on the loss as well.:carrot: Donna...Hope you are having a great day. How was your Cherry cheesecake? I made a Rhubarb Cheesecake a couple of days ago, low fat though. It was yummy!! Linda...Glad to hear you are having nicer weather. It was cool and rainy here yesterday, but suppose to be 70 today. It's really going to have to work hard to get there! I'm out of my funk and had a pretty good day yesterday. Went to Fargo for my sewing class and also did some shopping and out to lunch with my hubby. I did pretty good at the buffet place. Had a salad, chicken breast, small serving of mashed potatoes/gravy, small cup of chicken nooldle soup and two small BBQ ribs. Since I had lunch at 2PM, I didn't eat dinner and wasn't hungry so skipped that meal. My hubby and I went to the movies lastnight and no snacks for me!! Have a great day! Cheryl meowee 05-14-2006, 06:22 PM And a very good Mother's Day afternoon to everybody . . . another nice sunny and relatively cool day for us. Hope they continue this way for a long time to come. Glad to hear you've pulled out of your funk, Cheryl. And glad to hear you had success at the buffet restaurant. They can be so hard . . . all those great sights and smells. Nothing too exciting going on around here. Miss my kids on Mother's Day. They are so far away . . and no amount of telephone visiting quite gives you the same feeling as a real get together. Oh well. :( Have a great evening, gang. See you soon. In the meantime, just keep doing all the good stuff and the rewards will come along in due course. :carrot: Gilded Lily 05-14-2006, 06:50 PM Hi everyone, just a quick check in to say Happy Mothers Day to all. I am off to spend the evening with my daughter and son-in-law. :queen: Hope all are doing well with their weight loss journey. :cb: :carrot: It's a difficult one to make but with the support offered here it makes it more enjoyable I think.:grouphug: Huggs to all. Donna72664 05-15-2006, 10:42 AM :dizzy: Oh boy, it is Monday morning again. Why do the weekends go by so fast? It was a great one though. Meowee The lilacs got so overwhelming, we had to move them out to the entry porch!! On our way home yesterday we stopped by a Lilac Farm. What a beautiful sight, lilacs of every color, have no idea how many bushes. I'm sorry your kids are too far from you to see you on Mother's Day. It is hard to just visit with them on the phone. My eldest called in the morning. How many kids do you have and where do they live? Cheryl  The cherry cheesecake was yummy and so was the rhubarb cobbler and the spaghetti salad and the:nono: yea it was wonderful Carla Hope you enjoyed your evening with dd and sil. Gotta run (should do that):D time to get to work. Have a great day!!! DONNA Gail C 05-15-2006, 11:01 AM Good morning everyone! It's still a chilly, dreary day here in Indiana. The weather has been yucky here since Friday. I had a good sized gain over the weekend, went to a mother-daughter church dinner with my mom, had dinner with my children yesterday. I made a delicious strawberry, cream cheese, angel food cake dessert, and even though I left most of it at my daugher's house, I did eat lots of it. It's gone now, so I'll be on my best food behavior until Thursday, so hopefully I won't have a gain at WW. Hope everyone else had a lovely Mother's day. Glad you're out of your funk Cheryl. also glad you're finally having some sunny days up there Meowee. So sorry you couldn't be with your kids yesterday; that must be tough. Good to hear from you Lily! And you too Donna and Hy and anyone else I might have missed. Have a great week! I'm not stressing over my weight gain; mostly just water I'm sure; I don't make desserts often so I just enjoyed this one. But today I'm back on track. I'm in it for the LONG HAUL this time! meowee 05-15-2006, 03:10 PM Hi everybody . . . hard to believe it's the middle of May already. We have more beautiful sunshine today in Atlantic Canada. However, the temperature is creeping up above 70, so don't bother sending me anymore heat, ladies. This will do just fine the way it is now. :D Carla . . . how right you are. Together we can all do it. We just have to hang in and keep doing the good stuff as much as we can. ;) Carla . . . I've only got two little Lilac trees but even they can send out a marvellous amount of perfume when they come into bloom. Right now I'm still admiring my Forsythia which have been exceptionally nice this spring. I've got two sons. . . eldest is 44 and lives in Alberta; the youngest is 35 and lives in Ontario. Thanks for asking. Gail . . . It sounds like you had a really great Mother's Day. Wow, time spent with your Mother and your kids. Great. Hopefully that's only going to be a temporary gain. Everybody needs a little dessert once in a while. Glad you enjoyed it. It certainly sounded delicious. :) Have a great day, everybody. Keep moving and shaking and heading in the downward direction. Here's a little :dust: to help us along the way. See you soon. :carrot: Cheryl120 05-15-2006, 11:21 PM Hi Ladies, Sounds like we all enjoyed our Mothers day, all those yummy desserts that we can't say NO to. I know that I have to be good for the rest of the week. My lilacs are just starting to bloom and I love the smell of them. Not much going on today, had to go to SD with my hubby for a car part, so it was out to lunch at a Steak Buffet. I did good up until the strawberry pie:devil: Very, very yummy. Extra walking tomorrow for me:carrot: :carrot: Have a great night girls and I'll chat with you tomorrow. Cheryl hyacinth merry 05-15-2006, 11:38 PM Hello! Just stopping by before I go and listen to a book on CD tonight. It's been one of those days where I feel "Off" - not sick or anything, just "ugh". NO energy, especially. Oh well, tomorrow's another day, right? ;) I am going to purchase the WATP DVD I also borrowed from the library - probably just order from amazon or online - I don't feel like driving around hunting for it retail. My weight loss this week (since last Monday) was 1/2 pound. My followup tests with the Endo are in June and then I hope I can get on track, back on my meds and get things going AGAIN. Someone asked awhile back if I could do yogurt, but no, I can't with this Atkins Induction. Plus I have to be REALLY careful about the splenda sweetened things - they tend to trigger cravings for me - eek!! (And I can't even tolerate the taste of yogurt w/o sweetening of some sort). If I get a hankering for something sweet, I usually mix some cream cheese, a bit of lemon juice and some splenda together - it's something like a little cheescakey-thingie. The Atkins program I'm following is pretty restricitve. (The same goes for SF jello - it triggers MORE sweet cravings so I'm better off just not having) Hope everyone is doing well. Night! Hy the slim me 05-16-2006, 08:59 AM Hi eveyrone, It's been raining here so long I'm thinking about building a ark! And it's so cold! I've had to turn the heat back on. I think the house is just so damp. And I haven't been able to walk outside at all. I am starting to walk a little bit again. I think I'm afraid to do too much, due to the shin splints. I talked to a Dr. at work and he gave me some stretching exercises and they helped. Now, I stretch after every walk! Lesson learned! The lilac's sound glorious! I love the smell. They were blooming here a couple weeks ago, almost gone now. I only have one bush left and the workmen took the center out of that when they trimmed a tree in the backyard! I had a huge one with the old fashioned lilacs in the back yard that was removed when they worked on the sewer lines 2 years ago! But the entire neighborhood was filled with the scent when they were in full bloom! I had a great mothers day. I had asked for a family picture and we went and had one made! Lots of pictures! We got carried away. I didn't do too bad with the eating. I did have one small slice of chocolate cake, no icing. I don't like the icing so it's not a big sacrafice. I'm not losing, but i'm pretty confortable where I am. I need (want) to lose the 1 more pound, but if I don't it's actually ok. I am wearing all my clothes now and the extra pound is just to say I DID IT! I am counting on my wonderful support system to help me keep it off! Have a wonderful day, Freda Take I meowee 05-16-2006, 09:56 AM Good Morning . . . it's sunny again this morning but it is supposed to rain this afternoon . . . actually we could use the rain . . . some parts of the province are having a bit of a forest-fire problem. Cheryl . . . I have a weakness for desserts, too. Actually I guess most of us do. Most heavy people didn't get that way from eating nothing but salads. I mean, I really like vegetables but not as much as I like cheesecake and brownies. :o Hy . . . oh wow, now I have even more respect for you for being able to stick to Atkins. I'd really be a goner without my FF yogurt and SF jello. ;) Freda . . . Very impressive. I'm not sure I'd want cake without the icing. I remember my Father commenting that cake was just put there to act as a display stand for the icing. Guess it's an inherited trait. :D Have a great day, gang . . . See you soon. :carrot: Cheryl120 05-16-2006, 03:07 PM Afternoon Ladies...Finally, the sun decided to peak out and looks like we will reach the 70's. Going out for a walk later on this afternoon. So far I have had a very good day and I'm making wise choices in the food department.:D Freda...Glad to hear that your shins are feeling better. Don't blame you for being scared about going out and walking again. Shin splints are very painfull! Hy...You are doing so well with sticking to Akins. I couldn't do it, like Linda I couldn't live with out my SF jello, pudding and yogurt. Linda...Hope you don't get too much rain, just a nice spring shower to freshen up the air a bit. I'll try to check in later, hugs to you all. Cheryl hyacinth merry 05-16-2006, 09:28 PM Yep, I know I've heard there are some who can do OK with the SF products on Atkins Induction and I probably can too once I'm on maintenance but that's 30 pounds away yet. ;) I have read about others on Induction that experience "stalls" also when they add SF jello to their food list. Like everything, it just seems to depend on the individual. I WISH I could be one of the lucky ones, but... :p The good news about the no-sugar/limited sweeteners is that my skin looks very nice! I have roseaca and get monthly glycolic peels at a doc's office to control - the woman that does my skin said she can see a HUGE difference and I guess I haven't noticed that many breakouts since I started Atkins. So that's at least something . Yea to all the committed chickies heres!!! You all are an inspiration to me  Love reading your posts! Hy meowee 05-17-2006, 08:11 AM Looking at a busy day ahead of me today but thought I'd do a quick little pop-in to say good morning. It's my official wwi morning and my body seems to be practicing maintenance although my mind is trying for weight-loss. :( Hopefully this coming week will be better. I am having difficulty keeping it in perspective, but this tortoise will just keep plodding along in the believe that things will improve shortly. :^: Have a good one, gang. I'll try to get back again later on. In the meantime keep on moving and shaking in the downward direction. Cheryl120 05-17-2006, 06:00 PM Busy morning getting my shopping done before I went to WW. Weighed myself this morning and I was 337.6 (no clothes), with colthes I was 340.6. Went to WW and their scales said I was 343.2 with a +.9 gain!!! It really puts me in a depressing mood to see that much of a difference between scales. It just made my decission to quit WW that much easier. I'm going with the scales that says I'm loosing and pocket the $11.00 bucks I pay to be weighed. Linda...Great job on maintaining, but give that scale a swift kick in the rear. LOL Be back later on in the evening and is how everyone is doing. Cheryl hyacinth merry 05-18-2006, 12:39 AM Cheryl, really something is not right with that situation!!! I have to agree with you on questioning what is up with WW. We all know how much it means to see the scale move down after all our work and committment to our programs - it's a VERY important incentive to continue on! You all are probably going to laugh, but the following actually IS good news from me :carrot: I decided to be brave and ordered a pair of white slacks (actually light-weight jeans)...I recieved today, just "did it" and put them on....and they not only fit, but they look REALLY nice!!! Wow, that too is a little incentive now to keep up with my restrictive Atkins diet. I just felt good all day after I tried on those suckers :D Hy meowee 05-18-2006, 10:45 AM Another quick HELLO kind of day for me. I finally bought my first digital camera and managed to load the on-line instruction booklet (all 130 pages). So far I understand nothing. Hopefully, I'll figure it out before it becomes obsolete. :^: Got to run again . . . promised a friend I'd take her shopping. See you later, gang. In the meantime keep doing the good stuff. :carrot: Cheryl120 05-18-2006, 11:47 AM Hy...Congrats on getting into white slacks. It always make us feel good when we can get into a smaller size, and even better when it's WHITE! I totally agree with you about WW. I'm only going to attend WW though the summer and then do the program on my own and put the 11 bucks a week in the kitty. Linda...Hope you figure out your new camera. I have one digital camera that uses a floppy disk that I use since I kind of have it figured out. My hubby bought a new Sony digital camera on ebay last year. I'm lucky if I can turn it on. LOL Here's a picture of the wallhanging that I'm going to make in Feb, if not sooner. Have a good day, and I'll check in later. hyacinth merry 05-18-2006, 11:55 AM Another quick HELLO kind of day for me. I finally bought my first digital camera and managed to load the on-line instruction booklet (all 130 pages). So far I understand nothing. Hopefully, I'll figure it out before it becomes obsolete. :^: meowee you didn't ask for advice, but that's my specialty: butting in where I'm not asked - lol!! :D I say, great you've got the War and Peace length instructions all tucked away now, so now just start taking pictures and don't worry about directions! That's the great thing about a digital camera - right away you can see what the images look like and DELETE them if they stink. I still don't know how to "officially" use my digital camera and I get compliments all the time on my photographs - lol!!! That said, if you LIKE reading tech manuals, then go for it ;) BtW, congrats on your new camera! Hy hyacinth merry 05-18-2006, 12:01 PM Here's a picture of the wallhanging that I'm going to make in Feb, if not sooner. Cheryl..in FEBRUARY ???? You mean February 2007? Wow, I'm impressed!! I think I'm Miss Thing if I start a grocery list for next week - lol!! This is a beautiful design - is this for a quilted piece? Hy Cheryl120 05-18-2006, 12:15 PM Hy...Yes it's a quilted piece. It will measure about 50X50 when done. I might start it sooner. My friend Leanne is teaching the class and will have to get her sample done before class, so I just might make it when she does her's. I can't wait to start it since I bought all of my fabric for it and it just sitting upstairs calling my name. LOL Cheryl meowee 05-18-2006, 06:03 PM Hello again . . . I made it back home again . . . having one of those 'if it rains it pours' kind of days now. At the end of April I ordered a Body Flex System from a US site, knowing it would take quite a long time to get here. So, naturally, it arrived today. The DVD that comes with it is about 1.5 hours long. The exercises themselves look pretty good, but first you have to learn to breathe correctly. I think that will take a little effort. It's really kind of strange. And then after you figure out how to breathe properly the actual exercise reps are done while holding your breath???? Sounds weird. :?: Hy . . . I think your post was just what I needed. Many, many thanks for reminding me I don't have to memorize the manual. Once I figure out a couple of buttons, I'll just point and click and see what I get. How bad can it be? :dizzy: The really fun part will be to figure out out to post a picture on here the way most of the rest of you do. :o Be prepared, I'll probably have lots of questions after I get a picture. Cheryl . . . That wall hanging is going to be absolutely beautiful and it looks really challenging, too with all those sharp angles. I could never be so organized as to wait until February. When I get something new, I have to start right away. Obviously the reason why I have dozens of unfinished projects lying around. :dizzy: Believe it or not, I usually get them done eventually. :) Had a good outing and lunch with my friend. We had Pizza Delight buffet for lunch and I was sure I'd really blown it, but when I got home and looked up the calories and stuff, I honestly was quite restrained. It won't be one of my lower days, mind you but not a real disaster either. It's actually kind of nice, I'm getting full on less food, and I'm making wiser choices at the buffet counter, too. :D See you later, kiddos. Think I'll have a light dinner and watch some television and leave the new exercise routine and the new camera alone until tomorrow. Have a great evening. :carrot: the slim me 05-19-2006, 02:39 PM Good Morning everyone, It's still so cold here! And it's rained most of the day too, so cold and dreary! Will spring never get here? We get a couple of days of fairly nice weather, just to tease us, and then it's gone again! I am doing ok...not great but all right. I still haven't lost any more but I haven't gained either. I'm maintaining prety well, exercising when I should and eating ok. I keep; thinking I could drop that extra lb. if I could get outside and get some more motivation instead of being stuck in the house all the time! Oh well, when warm weather finally gets here I'll probally complain that it's too hot! We play the cars we've been delt! Everyone have a wonderful weekend! It's my weekend to work and I hear it's supposed to stop raining! So is my luck! Take care, Freda Cheryl120 05-19-2006, 02:54 PM Afternoon Ladies, Linda...The quilt looks complicated, but really it's not. It's strips sewed together then cut on a 45 degree angle and some of the pieces are paper pieced if you know what that is. It's sewing by numbers on a paper pattern. Freda...Sorry to hear you are having rainy weather and that 1 pound is being stubborn. Give it a swift kick and tell it to leave and never come back.:carrot: We are going to be 80 today, so I going out for a nice walk before my hubby get's home. Doing good trying to say on program, but my neighbor brought by homemade buns and carmel rolls yesterday. I had one of each, but I could of ate the whole pan. I felt the :dust: Make it a good one ladies. Cheryl meowee 05-19-2006, 03:16 PM Hello gang . . . this is a long weekend in Canada so don't you just know that the weather cannot make up it's mind whether to be sunny or rainy. :( I'm staying away from the new camera and the new exercise routine today . . . hopefully my frustration level will go down by tomorrow and I can try again. Cheer up, Freda. The weather will brighten up again. Always does. And if you keep on doing the right stuff, the scale- will get himself moving in the right downward direction again. It's never easy, but we can do it. :D Glad to hear it Cheryl. Would hate to think about having to sew all those little pieces one by one. I love strip piecing. I do know what paper piecing is even though I've never tried it yet. Have fun. Don't you worry about the little goodies. Pat yourself on the back for only having one of each. All the little victories eventually come together and produce a bigger victory. See you later, gang . . . I have to go to the grocery store to stock up on some low-cal stuff for the long weekend. Hope you all have a great moving and shaking day. :carrot: Cheryl120 05-20-2006, 11:39 AM Hello Ladies...Just a quick check in before I go up and do some more tracing of hands and feets for my quilt. Stepped on the scales this morning:goodscale and I'm doing the happy dance  . The scales said 335.6 for a 2 lb loss. So glad the fairy fat mother decided to pay me a visit.:wizard: Makes it a great start for the weekend and boost my spirit way up there! Be back later to do personals. Make it a good one. I had a mini-meltdown last night after reading some stuff on a message board - I just get tired of the drama of the Internet sometimes - take a chill pill why don't you??? (Me included!) ;) Everyone is good people there, so I have to just back off and not let their "stuff" put me in a rotten mood. But while being totally p*ssed off last night I ALSO became VERY hungry. Hmmm...what a shocker there, huh?? Another "ME" project to tackle - learning how to walk away from stress-inducing situations without heading straight to the fridge - lol!! OK, all chickies have a great weekend! You deserve it  hy meowee 05-21-2006, 05:50 PM Congratulations on the loss, Cheryl. Keep up the great work and have fun with all your little fabric dollie parts. Sorry you are feeling a bit frustrated, Hy. It does sound like you're pulling out of it, though. Isn't it horrible the way stress sends is to the comfort food? I need to work on that, too. :^: I finally took some pictures with the new camera and I hope they look better when I get them on the computer than they do through the back of the camera. I couldn't find a good background for the shots. Tomorrow I'll tackle the great unknown and see if I can figure out how to post them to the internet. Keep heading in the great downward direction, ladies and I'll be seeing you soon. :carrot: Cheryl120 05-22-2006, 11:28 AM Morning Gals...Just a quick check in to see how you are doing. Couldn't get in to post yesterday, phone was out for some reason do to our other computer and the modem. I swear that thing has a mind of it's own. Anyway It was working this morning.:D Linda...Glad to hear you took some pictures with your new camera. One good thing about a digital camera, if you don't like the pictures you can delete them. Hy...Hope you are feeling better and the scales are moving towards the down ward side. Just hang in there, it will get better. Well gal's, it looks like it is going to be a beautiful day. Going out for a walk later on this afternoon. Good way to walk off the lunch that I'm having today. My gal pal's and I are going to Applebee's. I'll try to be good and stick with a WW meal. Cheryl meowee 05-22-2006, 05:46 PM Just to let you know I'm still alive and kicking . . . been playing around with pictures from my new camera . . . with very little luck. Finally, I seem to have figured it out . . . but now I have to go back and retake the pictures of the quilted clothing with the camera set at VGA . . . to get lower resolution. In the meantime . . . here is the only picture I've managed to get to download. My middle cat . . . Goldi . . . and now I have the resolution set so low, she looks a little fuzzy . . . as well as looking completely bored with the entire effort. :dizzy: Yay, Whoopee . . .I finally posted a picture. :carrot: hyacinth merry 05-22-2006, 10:26 PM In the meantime . . . here is the only picture I've managed to get to download. Nova Scotia is having another weird weather day . . it's cool, it's overcast, the sun breaks through for a few minutes and then it sprikles a bit. :dizzy: Glad that Goldi was able to cheer you up, Hy. I have a weakness for orange cats, too. When I get back to the picture taking I'll try to get pictures of the two 'fur-boys' (one black and one grey) as well. Yep, Cheryl  . . . once I get a little more familiar with the camera, I'm sure I'm going to love it. At the moment I prefer the quality of pictures from my 35 mm, but that's got a lot to do with experience. At least I can get the pictures out of the digital without having to remember to take the film in for developing. Something I seldom remember to do. :D Have a great day, gang. See you soon. Keep moving and shaking. :carrot: the slim me 05-23-2006, 12:57 PM Hi Everyone, Another cold day here in Michigan, but at least it isn't raining! We have to take our grandson to play soccer this evening and the last few times we've been sitting in the rain and he's been playing in the mud! Thank GOD for small favors! It's still cold enough that I will have to take a coat and balnket. Cheryl, that pixie dust must have worked! Congrats on the 2 lb. way to go!!! How awsome!!!! meow, Love the orange cat too! His look is just too typical of cats isn't it! Kind of like "go away and leave me alone untill I say you are allowed to pet me". The new camers sounds like a chalenge but one you will love when you have mastered it! Hope you're in a better mood Hy! Don't let things get to you! That being said, I eat when I get frustrated or angry or sad or happy or......you get the picture! Seems like try to dull every emotion with food! I have tried to set down and figure out why I am so hungry and deal with it. We all have issues with food, that's why we're here. Everyone have a great day, Freda Cheryl120 05-23-2006, 04:38 PM Linda...I still prefer to use my 35mm. I like the quality of the pictures better. I usually take a couple pictures of my quilts with the 35mm for my quilt book and a few with the digital, cause I can have them Right Now!! Hy...Hope you are back in the swings of things and glad Goldi put a smile on your face. Freda...We are in the 80's today, hot and humid. I'll send some your way. Stay dry at the soccor game.:rain: I'll try to check back later. Cheryl Donna72664 05-24-2006, 10:51 AM Good morning ladies. I have been absent for a few days,we have had computer problems here. Sounds like all of you have been busy, cameras quilting and soccer games :dizzy: :balloons:Congratulations to all who have had a weight loss this past week. I seem to be stuck right here. Maybe after this weekend I can get back on track and get it to moving in the downward direction again. I probably won't get back here till late next week. We are in the process of moving our office into another building and depending on the phone company may be down for a couple of days. Hope all of you enjoy the long weekend. It is going to be :hot: here. They are talking 95 to 100. Hope to spend some time outdoors but will have to cover up with sunscreen. Oldest daughter and family coming. Will have to BBQ of course. Have any of you seen the Hoodia weight loss patch advertised on here.? What do you think and would you try it.? I'm a little leary of such things. Talk to you later. Keep up the good work. DONNA meowee 05-24-2006, 11:26 AM Good Morning ladies . . . :D I'm having a happy morning. I finally got to move my ticker a whole 2 pounds in the down-eastward direction. the mean old scale- only gives in every so often, just to keep me from going totally insane. I know it's the insulin and other diabetes meds that keeps things from dropping as quickly as I'd like, and I try not to get discouraged. :^: Oh well, slow but steady as the tortoise would say. ;) Freda . . . Nova Scotia is having a really cool day today, too. About 8C/46F when I was putting the garbage out this morning and no sign of any sun. . . Hey, pretty soon we'll be complaining about the heat, no doubt. Cheryl . . . Speaking of heat. Wow. Don't you just hate that high humidity though? Donna . . . Another one in a heat wave . . . Have a great weekend. We had a long weekend on the 22nd and it rained far too much. Regarding those Hoodia patches . . . I wouldn't try them, personally. Since I already take so many kinds of medication, I'm very cautious about anything else. Besides, I'm waiting for the real magic pill to come along and put an end to obesity forever. :dizzy: Have a great day, everybody. Keep moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction at whatever speed best suits you (well, your body). :carrot: meowee 05-24-2006, 11:32 AM Donna . . . I just saw a thread about Hoodia on the "Dieting with Obstacles" forum, you might want to take a look. hyacinth merry 05-24-2006, 12:01 PM Well, yes I did get the funk under control...by removing myself from the situation. Sometimes that's the only way, you know? Maybe next week I'll check back in with that particular group, but this week - I'm just ignoring. Thanks for all the support here tho - I needed to hear the positive encouragement :) This is a good thing, I guess because I turned my annoyance with that message board into some action, meaning I got out the LAWN and LEAF-sized hefty bags and started stuffing them full with items to take to Salvation Army - and that's where we're headed this morning, to drop them off at the donation center. The other good thing is that I didn't get all upset with the fact that the emotional upset triggered that hunger response. It happened and I didn't over do and once I realized I WAS craving food as a comfort in this particular situation, well then I started looking for something to try and help my mood. So I went shopping yesterday and bought a new toliet brush - lol!!! (I'm not a shopper so just going is a big deal!!) My lovely new brush got initiated this morning and did a super job :D The old one, rust stains and all, got to retire... Meowee I have 2 orange kitties currently - orange cats just have BIG personalities for some reason, at least in my experience. OK, time to get loaded up for my trip out to SA. Have a good day all :-) Hy meowee 05-24-2006, 02:39 PM That is fantastic, Hy  . . . I wish I could turn all my funks into worthwhile activites like that . . . but one can only use so many toilet brushes.:lol3: Sorry . . . I just couldn't resist. You can see the kind of day I'm having. Cheryl120 05-25-2006, 12:25 AM Hi Girls, just a quick check in since I have been gone most of the day and my eyes are tired. Had WW today and their scales finally moved 3.4lbs!! Mine said 1.4 lbs this morning, so I have moved my ticker another pound.:carrot: Donna...I wouldn't use the patch, but that's just me. I wouldn't use pills either. I tried pills a long time ago and it made me feel very weird. Hy...Glad you are out of your funk. Had to laugh over you store purchase. Guess us girls can always use a new toilet brush. LOL Linda...WHOOHOO!!! Feel's great to have the scale move southward!! Guess that fairy fat mother did find you.:wizard: It has done nothing but rain cats and dogs today, and very humid. Hope it isn't going to be a dreary, rainy weekend.:rain: See you chickies tomrrow. Cheryl meowee 05-25-2006, 10:24 AM Good Morning . . . very cool again this morning . . . but the sun is peeking through even though the radio is calling for rain later on. We'll just have to wait and see. :) Congratulations on your loss, too, Cheryl. It sure does feel great, doesn't it. WHOOPEE. Have a great day, ladies . . . See you later. :carrot: hyacinth merry 05-25-2006, 11:10 AM That is fantastic, Hy  . . . Hy hyacinth merry 05-25-2006, 11:18 AM Hi Girls, just a quick check in since I have been gone most of the day and my eyes are tired. Had WW today and their scales finally moved 3.4lbs!! Mine said 1.4 lbs this morning, so I have moved my ticker another pound.:carrot: Hy...Glad you are out of your funk. Had to laugh over you store purchase. Guess us girls can always use a new toilet brush. LOL Cheryl Cheryl What is up with the scales???? Well either/or, wonderful news that they both reflected pounds gone "bye-bye", so a big congrats on that!! Feels good, huh? :D I'm so glad your hard work is finally being reflected on the scales. Well, building on the success of my toliet brush purchase earlier this week, yesterday I went shopping for new couches - a monster has been created I'm afraid!! ;) My kitties are getting their teeth cleaned today - please send good wishes their way if you have a chance - I'm always a nervous wreck whenever any of my pets (or me!) has to be put under for something. Have a good day all  Hy hyacinth merry 05-25-2006, 11:22 AM I finally got to move my ticker a whole 2 pounds in the down-eastward direction. Meowee I forgot to congratulate you on your 2 pound loss - WTG!!! :carrot: That's fantastic!! Hy Cheryl120 05-25-2006, 03:03 PM Hy...My scales, which is a digital, has always been about a 4lb difference from WW. I report on what my scale says, since I was getting so discouraged to be down 2lbs and then go to WW and have a 4lb gain. Yesterday was the first time since Jan, that the scale at WW has had that big of a drop. WW said I weighed 339 and my scale said 334. Of course I'm going to take the lower number, I'm not that crazy!:dizzy: It's cool, damp and dreary here. Hope it warms up by the weekend. Hope your kittys did well with their teeth cleaning. I have to take my dog in soon for a teeth cleaning and to have a couple of teeth pulled.:( I got him 1999 from the Humane Society, and he had been abused for over 2 years. He had been fed catfood, which is very bad for a dogs teeth, but he's alittle sweetheart and he loves me very much, as I love him. Linda...Hope you are having a good day. Cheryl meowee 05-25-2006, 05:51 PM Well I'm back . . . I've been playing around with the digital camera again. So I thought I'd try posting some more pictures . . . hopefully I will get better at this I'm certainly not impressed with my artistry so far. Anyway . . . the big ball of grey fuzz is MOUSE . . . the one who thinks he is the reincarnated Egyptian God . . . and the black one is JAZZ . . . who looks a little angry but is actually a very easy-going, laid-back kind of a cat. I tried to fix the eyes with the red-eye reduction thing, but I guess it only works for people eyes. Any ideas?? BTW, Hy, don't know about your Vet but mine charges more to clean my cat's teeth than my periodontist charges to clean mine. Of course, I don't have full anaesthetic . . . although there have been times I would have liked some. :dizzy: Funny thing, Cheryl, I remember years ago we used to feed the cats the same food as the dogs (back when we didn't know any better :^: ). Dogs are more omnivorous than cats. Cats are pure carnivors and dog food doesn't have a high enough protein level for them, but I didn't know that cat food was hard on a dog's teeth. Because of the higher protein it might also be hard on their kidneys. See you later, gang. Have a great evening. :carrot: hyacinth merry 05-26-2006, 10:08 AM I have to take my dog in soon for a teeth cleaning and to have a couple of teeth pulled.:( I got him 1999 from the Humane Society, and he had been abused for over 2 years. Very sketchy info about her, but we think her owner passed away and the family got rid of her after that. I also adopted what turned out to be an elderly little dog this Feb. He's a sweetie too but healthwise, a little more than what I need right now. We LOVE him tho and hope he has a little time still left in him! Hy hyacinth merry 05-26-2006, 10:17 AM Anyway . . . the big ball of grey fuzz is MOUSE . . . the one who thinks he is the reincarnated Egyptian God . . . and the black one is JAZZ . . . who looks a little angry but is actually a very easy-going, laid-back kind of a cat. I tried to fix the eyes with the red-eye reduction thing, but I guess it only works for people eyes. Any ideas?? Meowee LOVED the pics!! Your cats are adorable and thanks for sharing! We also have 3 cats and each one is totally different from the other ones in looks and personality. No the red-eye correction doesn't work for pets...you need "Pet-Eye" correction and not all photo software has that available. Photoshop Elelments MIGHT have it - I can't remember now, but I do know you can get a free 30 day trial from their website. (I have a cheapo American Greetings program I bought for $5 to do labels with and oddly it has 'pet-eye' correction) The other thing you can do but it takes a lot of effort, is to do a paint thing and black out the entire eye with brown and then add a small dot of white for a highlight...altho the results can be iffy. Hy hyacinth merry 05-26-2006, 10:23 AM My kitties are getting their teeth cleaned today - please send good wishes their way if you have a chance - I'm always a nervous wreck whenever any of my pets (or me!) has to be put under for something. Hy Kitty update: Both did fine with the cleaning altho our one cat was diagnosed with FORL, a progressive dental disease and had to have 4 teeth not only pulled, but then the roots surgically removed. I hate that he has obviously been in pain and I had no idea - I did notice he didn't want any "crunchie" food and one of the reasons I had his teeth cleaned. (We do mostly soft food, but I usually toss a few EVO crunchies in) He's got pain meds for the weekend, but seems to be doing well despite all he went through yesterday. Thanks for all the good thought!! Hy meowee 05-26-2006, 01:44 PM Hy . . . thanks for the "pet-eye" info. I've got a couple of other editing programs on my computer, I'll see if they have it. If not, I guess I'll just have to settle for the 'pets from outer space' look. Glad the fur-kids came through the teeth cleaning ok. I started getting my cats done, when Jazz began chewing on the rug in my sunroon. Clean teeth didn't break him of the habit, so I finally replaced the rug. He doesn't chew the new one. Different flavour I guess. :dizzy: Have a great day . . . See you later, everybody. :carrot: Cheryl120 05-26-2006, 09:47 PM Hy...Glad to hear your kitties came through their teeth cleaning OK. I know how you feel about your cat being in pain and we don't know that they are. It just kills me to think that my precious Ozzy was in pain with an infection and I didn't know it till he cried out in pain when I happen to caress him under his jaw. He got it after he had his teeth cleaned/teeth pulled the last time I took him in and the vet didn't give him medication just in case he was to get an infection. Have a new vet now. Ozzy will be 9 years old in Dec, he was abused by men/boys for 2 years and it took a year before my hubby could get near him. We still have to watch him closely around boys/men, he will come up very fast and nip them. Linda...Love the pictures. Hope that you are having nice weather this weekend. I was busy this morning sewing the kids down on my quilt. I have to go buy thread tomorrow that will match some of the clothes and skin tones. My new machine, got grease on my quilt this morning. Sure hope the Mox will take it out!! Usually it's blood I have to get out of my quilts. Anyway, have a good weekend and I'll check back tomorrow. Cheryl Cheryl120 05-27-2006, 02:28 PM Hi Ladies...Just a quick check-in to post a picture of the quilt I'm working on. I'll be back later to post personals. meowee 05-27-2006, 02:54 PM That's really beautiful, Cheryl  Obviously you got the grease out and you'd really have to draw a big arrow to point out this horrible error you've been talking about. :D see you later.:carrot: hyacinth merry 05-27-2006, 05:51 PM :bravo: Cheryl :bravo: That is GORGEOUS!!! I love the pattern and colors and just all! Hope everyone has a good weekend - for us in the US it is Memorial Day weekend. So far I've cleaned house and planted flowers...not exactly what the holiday is meant to be. I did put out the flag tho. Will check in next week and hope to hear much great news from all  Hy hyacinth merry 05-27-2006, 06:08 PM Ozzy will be 9 years old in Dec, he was abused by men/boys for 2 years and it took a year before my hubby could get near him. We still have to watch him closely around boys/men, he will come up very fast and nip them. Cheryl The little dog we adopted a few months back also had been abused..that little detail wasn't disclosed and we didn't figure it out until AFTER we got him home. We believe he had been kicked on a fairly regular basis judging from some of his reflex-like reactions to certain movements. Fortunately cruelty is NOT practiced or tolerated here, so he is safe and learning to trust. I give him a lot of credit for being willing to try to put himself out there and love people again :) I understand exactly what you're saying about having to watch your dog around others, in your Ozzy's case, men and boys. We don't allow any of our pets to just bite or "attack" because they want to, but we do know to keep our new dog away from people that don't know him and stuff like that - I mean it's my responsiblity to be sure my guests aren't bitten no matter what the circumstances. Well like I said before, I'm glad Ozzy found your home - it sure sounds like he's got a good one now  Oh, btw, our little pooch is thought to be around 10 years old, so in the same age group as your pup. Hy Cheryl120 05-27-2006, 08:06 PM Linda...I can see the error on the quilt a mile away, but I know where to look. I used mox and a toothbrush to work on the grease spots today. Didn't take it out, but it lighten the area. I'll work some more on it and hopefully it will come out. I'm really proud of the quilt since I designed it. Going to be hard to give it away, but I plan on making a smaller version for myself. Hy...Our furry friends have a way of melting our hearts. I was a goner the first time I saw Ozzy. we had just lost our Peaches and I really think she led me to Ozzy. We had Peaches for 14 years, ever since she was born. It just killed me to have to put her to sleep, but she was sick and suffering. Went and saw X-Men 3, it was pretty good. Pretty warm here, 88. Wish it was 10 degrees cooler. Yes, I'm whinning!!!!!! Have a good night and I'll see you tomorrow. Cheryl meowee 05-29-2006, 07:42 PM Wow has it ever been quiet around here . . . where is everybody hiding? I know, it's a long weekend. Hope you've been having a fun time. ladies. It is sooooo true . . . our pets definitely leave pawprints all over our hearts. Nothing too exciting for me . . . our weather has been comfy . . . it finally got up to the low 70s (23C) but the sun has been sneeking behind clouds a lot. Have a great evening and I'll hope to see you all again tomorrow. Keep doing the right stuff and the right stuff will keep on happening to you. Take care, now. :carrot: Cheryl120 05-29-2006, 08:05 PM Time flys when your having fun. Been busy sewing the good part of the day. Keeps my fingers busy and my mouth closed. LOL It was so hot yesterday, I broke down and turned on the central air, we never got below 80 in the house. Today is much nicer with a nice cool breeze. See, I told you I would whine when it got hot and unbearable. I just can't take the heat and humidity all at once. Glad to see the long weekend over and be able to get back in my routine. See you chickies tomorrow. Cheryl hyacinth merry 05-29-2006, 09:30 PM I did fine this weekend, but I am going to move on from Atkins Induction Phase. Because of my thyroid thing, all really got screwed up - hopefully that will be addressed in the next couple weeks after I have my next specialist's appointment... again. I've been 100% faithful to the induction phase since I started Feb 01, so at least that was good for my sense following through. (Not complaining, just explaining ;) ) Tomorrow I'll begin to add some berries and I'm also going to start some low-carb additions like the flax muffins. 4 months on Induction is long enough. I've been just fine with the limited types of foods on Induction, except for B'fast. That has been a challenge. So I think it's good to have berries and the homemade lowcarb muffins added as a choice. I love eggs, but eggs every single day, day after day for B'fast has started to get real old :barf: Well, not that bad - lol!! So out to the grocery again for me tomorrow. BTW, I did some sewing myself today...cat diapers!! LOL! I have a "sprayer" and this is the way I control that business. Next week he starts drugs - valium. He's 6 and we've had him since he was small - a rescue from a feral colony. I've tried everything so finally resorting to meds. He's worn a little diaper I fashioned for a couple years now tho. I know it sounds WIERD!!!!! But it has saved my furniture. And he purrs when I put it on him. Sorry, I know this sounds so bizarre  OK, time to go make a salad for dinner... to all Hy meowee 05-30-2006, 01:07 PM Hi everybody . . . Nova Scotia is sunny again but the temperature is down . . . only about 17C (mid 60sF) at the moment. that's OK with me. I just love it like this. Cheryl . . . Glad to hear things have cooled off for you, too. Have fun with the quilt-making stuff. Hy . . . You have done so well and I'm sure things will continue down the same road now that you are going to be adding in some healthy fruits and grains. Is your little cat neutered? I know it doesn't always make a difference. Believe it or not, I had a female cat who started spraying after she was spayed; luckily it only lasted for a few months and then she settled down again. Have a great day, girls. Keep it moving and shaking. See you again really soon. :carrot: hyacinth merry 05-30-2006, 02:34 PM Hy Is your little cat neutered? Oh yes, I'm one of THOSE fanatics - all my pets are 'fixed' :-) Now off to make my flaxseed muffins :D Hy the slim me 05-30-2006, 02:36 PM Hi Everyone, Hope you had a good holiday and didn't do like me, eat way too much! It was our first barbacue of the season and we made steak and all the trimmings and I really over did! But it's back on track today. Hopefully I didn't do too much damage! My husband and I even went for a long walk, in spite of the heat! It was in the upper 90's. SO hot! Now here is where I complain about the heat! I've complained all spring about it being so cold. But we went straight from cold to hot, few nice days in-between! Cheryl, the quilt is so beautiful! You are so talented! I couldn't see the grease but like you said, you know where it is. I found a great way of removing grease, actually by mistake. Its the stuff the guys use in the garage to wash their hands after they work on cars and stuff. There are several different brands. my husbands clothes were full of grease marks and I thought, what the heck! Nothing to lose. It's water soluable, doesn't stain and rinses right out. If you decide to try it, tyr it on something else first to make sure that it works the way you want. But I use it on everything now, all our clothes that we get oil or grease on. Hy, good luck on the new phase of your diet. I know you will do well. And have a little more variety in your diet. Should make it much easier, and tastier! Sounds like we're all animal lovers! Our little dog is such a joy! He's adopted also, and while he wasn't abused, he was terribly neglected. He is a spoiled baby now, just like they all should be. Meow, want to swap some weather? I could send you a little bit of warm and you could send me some of those 60's days! Take care, Freda Cheryl120 05-30-2006, 11:35 PM Freda...Your weekend sounded nice. MMMMmmmm BBQ steaks are my all time favorite thing to eat, along with the patatoe salad, baked beans, chips and ect. Hy...Good luck on your next phase of Atkins. I hope it goes well for you. Linda...You can send the cooler weather this way.:D We are going to be back near 90 tomorrow. Not a good day for me, I tore my quilt while working on it this morning. I have spent most of the afternoon trying to fix it. Got it done, but I will have to embroider a flower or something near the dollie's face to hide the slight tear in her face and near her shoulder. I should never gotten out of bed this morning. Tomorrow is a new day. Good thing there is nothing I wanted to graze on in the house, cause I WOULD OF ATE TILL THE COW'S CAME HOME!!!! See you chickie's tomorrow. Cheryl meowee 05-31-2006, 10:04 AM Good Morning . . . another beautiful day in Nova Scotia . . . sunny and cool . . . I'd send it West if I could, ladies. :D Freda . . . no need to rush to send me your hot weather. I know it will get here soon enough and then you can listen to me whine, too. Congratulations of getting right back on track after the long weekend. :) Cheryl . . . don't want your hot stuff either. So sorry about the quilt booboo . . . just embroider some little flowers or something appropriate at regular intervals all the way around . . . just another nuance of your original design; you planned it that way, right? ;) Well, I got rid of another .6 of a pound. This is a really slow trip, but the tortoise never promised me it would be quick. At least we are going in the right direction. Have a great day. Keep moving and shaking and heading in the downward direction. See you soon. :carrot: Cheryl120 05-31-2006, 10:24 PM Linda...Actually, I didn't plan on having to sew flower's or whatever to my kids. As it is, I have to do french knots for hair and eyes. I'll be doing a lot of hand work while I'm on vacation. Keep my fingers busy, then I won't be eating. Hy...Made an appointment for Ozzy to get his teeth cleaned on Monday, but since he got an infection the last time, they want to see him tomorrow and start him on antibiotic, which I think is a very good idea. Weigh-in today, I'm up .5lbs which is OK. It seems that I go up and then drop the next week. Just going to keep doing what I'm doing, evenually I'll get there. Off in the morning to get my hair perm and cut. Will color it in a couple of weeks. See you gals tomorrow. Cheryl the slim me 06-01-2006, 03:48 PM Hi Everyone, It's another beautiful sunny day here in Michigan. Not quite as hot as the weekend, but a little too warm for my taste. I love balmy days in the 70, low 80's. I hope it cools off tonight before my grandsons ball game. I hate sitting out in the heat! complain, complain.... Cheryl, Oh no, your poor quilt! But you will fix it and no one will be the wiser and it will have an added touch! I need to get an appointment to get my little doggie's teeth cleaned too. I had his blood work done when I took him in for his annual and it lasts 6 months. Got to get him in before it runs out. Time does fly and I don't want to have to pay for the blood work again! Our weather has been fairly cool but overcast. Hope you get a nice evening for the game. Have fun. My day has been all upside down. Took the car in for some normal maintenance stuff and was there over four hours. Was so hungry and so funked out by the time I got home I ended up having a nap and now I'm even further behind. See you tomorrow, gang. Keep moving and shaking and heading in the downward direction. :carrot: Cheryl120 06-01-2006, 11:50 PM Freda...Hope it cooled off a little for you before the baseball game. I know what you mean, I HATE the heat and don't do well in it. We were 88 today, way too hot for me. Only going to be 70 for a low tonight. I prefer about 50.:D Linda...I was gone all day today, it really puts a wrench in my day, when I can't eat at a regular time, then I'm starving when I do get to eat and don't take my time. I eat like it's my last meal I will ever have. I did stay within my points and have points left for a snack, but I won't need it. Got my hair cut and permed this morning. Now to wait a couple of weeks and color it again. Hy...Took Ozzy to the Vet this afternoon and he has an infection in his mouth. I feel terrible!! I'm not a very good Mommy to him. He is on antibotics and will go in Monday to have his teeth cleaned/pulled. Off to the big city to do shopping tomorrow, check back with you chickies later on tomorrow. Cheryl:hug: Donna72664 06-02-2006, 11:22 AM GOOD MORNING! Gosh I have missed you gals. I have tried to get caught up on what you have been up to. Sounds like everyone is going to the vet. Sorry your babies need to go it is harder on us I think. I have an 8 year old puppy, she weighs about 10 lbs.,she is schnauzer and chihauha(spelling) cross.Spoiled rotten!!Got her when she was 10 weeks old. I'm not going to address you individually as it would take me all morning. It is going to be in the upper 80's again today and a promise of mid-90's this weekend. The old air conditioner will hum today. Got our clinic moved over the long Holiday. Now to get all of the bugs worked out. Can't get our fax to receive from our other clinics in other towns. Great !! I did terrible over the weekend with my eating and drinking. It was HOT and had a few too many brews.DD and family were here and we had a wonderful time but seemed like all we did was EAT. Looking for a lot of support from my friends here.:kickbutt: Will accept all of these I can get, cause believe me I deserve everyone of them!!! Look forward to visiting with all of you again and get caught up on what's going on with all of you. Have a great weekend. DONNA meowee 06-02-2006, 11:44 AM Hi gang . . . it's rather humid in Nova Scotia this morning . . . but temperature is pleasant and it's sunny. Sorry the rest of you are having it so hot. I know my whining time will be coming soon. :( Cheryl . . . Look at it this way, poor little Ozzy has been suffering and will be so much better after the tooth problems are taken care of. Donna . . . hey your mind-set is in the right place, girl. Now just turn it into action and you'll be back on track in no time. Well, my day is definitely going more smoothly than yesterday . . . at least, so far. Went to the big city to do my shopping today, and I couldn't wait to get home and take my shoes off and put on something that was cooler to wear. We are suppose to be warmer tomorrow as well. Linda...Your turn will come for the hot weather,of course I'm always happy to see October arrive and cooler temps. Bought a new mower today, so you know what my exercise will be tomorrow. Going to be out early and get started before the heat of the day arrives. Tonight I pulled my rhubarb, so plan on making a rhubarb peach crisp...Low fat of course for dinner tomorrow night. Cheryl, you did NOT drop the ball with Ozzy - this stuff happens (SO easily) and I know he is VERY well taken care of!!! I'm just glad that they figured out he had an infection and needed the antibiotics in his system * before * he had the dental... Sending lots of good thoughts on Monday for Ozzy's procedure  Hy hyacinth merry 06-03-2006, 12:20 PM I'm LOLing about the weather reports here :D I live in PHX and yesterday was like 108 F and it's predicted to be even hotter this weekend...Oh Goody!! :( But what can you expect if you live in the desert? I've been watering all my plants, trying to help those that can make it. Maybe a little boost to get through the transition from hot to VERY HOT weather?! We got some discouraging medical news about my DH so just a lot of stuff going on... I did make my low-carb flax muffins and those have really come in handy when I haven't had time to make an omlet. I guess the scales will let me know if this is gonna be an option or not! Was a little down in the latter part of this week, but feel better today. I just know it's important not to give up but also OK to honor your feelings too. Sometime life really DOES suck, but you must make yourself search for the good stuff... OK Reverend Hy - step away from the from the pulpit with your hands up - lol!! Hope it's a good weekend for all the Chickies here - Meowee I forgot to mention that I love your picture - is that you? Cutie!!! Hy meowee 06-03-2006, 04:56 PM Hi Everybody . . . been having a terrible computer day . . . my internet connection has been going up and down like the proverbial toilet seat . . . the weather is crappy, too . . . rainy and windy and fairly cold. Cheryl . . . congratulations on the loss and on the much narrower shoes. Wow, you've got tiny feet . . . I wear an 8,1/2; always figured I'd be a lot taller if so much of me wasn't folded under. :dizzy: As always, the recipe sounds great. Hy . . . but your weather is dry, right? Don't know which I'd rather have . . . unbearably hot and hideously humid or just hideously, unbearably hot. ;) Boy what a choice. :( Yep, that's me. Thanks for the sweet comment. Well I'd better get off to the next cyber place while I've still got a functioning computer. Have a great evening. Keep moving and shaking and heading in the downward direction. See you soon (I hope). :carrot: Cheryl120 06-03-2006, 11:54 PM Hy...Thank you for your very kind word about Ozzy. He is pretty chipper today, so I know he is feeling better. I would much rather have your 108 dry heat than the 90 with humidity. We use to live in 29 Palms, California and the dry heat was never a problem for me, but this humidity I just can't take. Hope things go well for your hubby. Linda...I would give anything to wear a size 7 shoe. I have a real hard time finding shoes to fit my short, fat foot, and I refuse to cram them into shoes that don't fit right. I hope by the time I get to my goal weight, that I'm back into a 6W. Sorry you are having crappy weather today, send it my way. Could use a cool off. Went out and push mowed for 1 1/2 hours today. That was my exercise, and I was sweating buckets.:carrot: Got my house cleaned also and made a Strawberry Pie for dessert tonight. The pie was low fat/sugar and very good. It was made with surgar free strawberry jello and only had 2TB of sugar in it. I will make it next time with Splenda and see how it turns out. Leaving early in the morning for Devils Lake,ND for a car show. We were hoping to have our car done, but it won't happen this year. Next year, show be the year. Have a good evening and I'll try to check in tomrrow. Cheryl meowee 06-04-2006, 06:44 PM Hi gang . . . wherever you are . . . Hope you had a great time at the car show, Cheryl. See you when you get back. Keep on moving and shaking everybody and hopefully we'll see you tomorrow. :carrot: hyacinth merry 06-05-2006, 11:11 AM I had lost another 1/2 lb this morning when I weighed myself. That was encouraging as last week I decided to move on from my Atkins Induction phase to the next step. (Hadn't lost anything for like a month even tho I was adhering to it strictly) Soooo, added a daily portion of berries AND low-carb, homemade flaxseed muffins. I started Atkins with the Induction Phase of that program on Feb 01 of this year. I got going real well, then had an ultrasound that showed something was up with my thyroid. In order to do all the various diagnostic tests, I've had to be off my thyroid meds for almost FOUR months now. That's been rough - my energy level is "slug" as a result. LOL! Well, actually not all that funny, but you can't let it get you down... Hopefully once my tests are done (again) this coming Thurs. I can get back on my meds and start feeling some energy again too. Anyway, the half pound loss was something I needed to kind of give me an emotional boost! Have a good week all  Hy Donna72664 06-05-2006, 11:23 AM Good Monday morning,:carrot: it is raining here, thunder and lightening,it's a beautiful day!!!! We are so dry here you can hear the ants running through the grass;) Had another fun family food weekend.BUT I really watched what I ate. Had Chinese on Saturday at lunch. Settled for beef and snow peas. Supper was a ham sandwich and watermelon. Sunday we did a big breakfast and at noon we were at DH's fathers 85th birthday party. Fried chicken and lots of salads. Had a small piece of chicken then loaded up on salad. FIL is diabetic so everything was pretty safe to eat. Of course I had a piece of cake, I'm not that stupid !LOL. Cheryl: Hugs for Ozzy today and for you, know it is hard, but he is loved. Congrats on your shoe size,we will take a size change wherever we can get it. Think I'm coming to your house, always making something good to eat. Thanks for the recipe, it sounds wonderful You are right about the humidity, you can't ever get dry when it is humid HY: Sorry to hear DH got some bad medical news. Hope all goes well. It is ok to preach, it is good for the soul. Linda: Did you get your computer to working right? nothing more maddening than when they get minds of their own. Looks like the camera is working Hope all are having a good day. Keep up the good work!!! DONNA meowee 06-05-2006, 11:54 AM Good Morning, chickadees . . . Another cool and rainy day for Nova Scotia. Weather forecast says we will see a little sun later this afternoon, which would be a nice change. :) Nothing too exciting going on in my life, I'm chugging along in cross-stitch mode right now. Hy . . . congratulations on the loss, girl. It's truly amazing how uplifting it can be after a little stall. Good luck with finally getting the tests over with. Donna . . . good for you. Making those wise choices will pay off in the long run, kiddo. Have a good day of moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction. See you really soon. :carrot: Cheryl120 06-05-2006, 11:02 PM Hy...Congrats on the 1/2 pound loss. I kow you have waited a long time to see the scales move. Hope your test come back OK, so you can start back on your thyroid meds. Donna...Sounds like you made some good choices over the weekend. I was doing great till we went out of town yesrterday and today. It's back on program tomorrow and up early to mow the lawn.:carrot: Linda...Hope you got your computer working OK. Did the sun pay you a visit this afternoon? We had a very good time at the car show. Lots of beautiful car, and the weather was great. Can't wait for our car to be done. Well gals, Ozzy had his day at the dentist and he is home recuperating. My poor baby had 8 teeth pulled. He had his bottom 4 front teeth pulled, 3 front top teeth and a molar. He came home with antibotics and pain medication for a week. Getting lots of TLC from me, but he gets that anyway. It's been a long couple of days and it's back to my regular routine tomorrow, so I'll see you then. Cheryl the slim me 06-06-2006, 03:17 PM Hi everyone, Cheryl, I'm so happy to hear that your little Ozzie is feeling bette. When our "babies" hurt we hurt too! The recipe sounds really good, I'm copying it down to try. You plan such good meals! I'm afraid I try very little new ones, just stick to the same old same old! Donna, Glad you're back on tract!!! You made some really good choices and with all that food around that's not easy! Hy, Congrats on the loss! Hope your check up is good and you can get back on your meds!!!! Sending luck your way! Have a great day gals, Freda Meow, I hate computer problems! Basicially because I don't know anything about a computer and can't fix them myself! Yours up and running ok now? meowee 06-06-2006, 06:53 PM Just a quick little hello . . . I seem to have had a very busy day . . . but not too sure that I've got much to show for it. The weather was great. Warm and sunny. Hope it continues like this for a bit. Glad you are back, Cheryl, and that Ozzy is getting along fine. Give the poor baby an extra   from me. Hi, Freda and thanks for your thoughts. Everything is working for the moment. Have a great evening moving and shaking, ladies. See you soon. :carrot: Cheryl120 06-06-2006, 08:45 PM Hi everyone, Freda...Thanks for you kind thoughts about Ozzy. He is doing much better today and of couse getting lots of TLC from his mommy. Linda...Ozzy loved the extra hugs and kisses you sent his way. I was up early mowing and sweating some fat off. Hope I dropped a pound or two.:carrot: :carrot: Beautiful warm day here, but not too hot. Talk to you gals tomorrow. Cheryl hyacinth merry 06-07-2006, 12:04 PM Well gals, Ozzy had his day at the dentist and he is home recuperating. My poor baby had 8 teeth pulled. He had his bottom 4 front teeth pulled, 3 front top teeth and a molar. He came home with antibotics and pain medication for a week. Getting lots of TLC from me, but he gets that anyway. Cheryl Sending healing  s to OZZY...Once he recuperates from the extractions, I bet he will feel a lot better overall. I'm glad he did OK and is home now with his loving nursemaid :) Thanks for the update! Hy meowee 06-07-2006, 12:06 PM Hi Cheryl  and everybody else, wherever you are. Nova Scotia can't decide what the weather should be like today . . . so we are having a little bit of everything. Looks like it will be a little warmer than yesterday, but still OK. Forecast is calling for rain over the next few days, though. :( Nothing much, new with me. This is my normal www and I'm down 1.2 lbs this week and I've made it into a new decade, although not my much. But it is definitely nice to see. :D The old work project is heating up again so I guess the vacation is over . . . not too bad, actually, I've had about three weeks of quiet si I'd best not complain too much. See you soon, girls. Keep moving and shaking and heading in the downward direction. :carrot: hyacinth merry 06-07-2006, 12:13 PM Thanks Chickies for the congrats on my 1/2 pound loss this past week! This morning I got up and did my "AM Yoga" DVD...I'm gonna try to see if I can get (back) into the habit of doing this M-F each week. I also bought the Walk Away the Pounds DVD I previously borrowed from the library. If I can get my act together (and i'm going to make it a priority!!) then I'll do the AM Yoga routine and then the mile WATP on the M-F sked. The AM Yoga is a 20 min. program and the WATP is like 18 mins. In my case, I just need these shorter programs...when they start approaching 45 mins to an hour in length, well then "things" seems to come up and I don't get around to doing the video program. But I can handle 20 mins first thing in the Am and another 18 mins around noon. Well that's my game plan, we'll see how it goes :dizzy: Tomorrow is my followup Endo appointment for my thyroid (I'm going along too - lol!)- what a long, drawn out deal, but hopefully I'll FINALLY have some answers tomorrow! Hy hyacinth merry 06-07-2006, 12:15 PM This is my normal www and I'm down 1.2 lbs this week and I've made it into a new decade, although not my much. But it is definitely nice to see. :D WOW Meowee that's fantastic!!! Woohoo!! :carrot: Hy meowee 06-07-2006, 12:20 PM Hi, Hy . . . thanks for the Wow. We seem to be dancing around here together, but apart. :dizzy: Your exercise plans sound great . . . wish I could get myself kicked into a firm routine. Hope it works out for you. Donna72664 06-07-2006, 01:39 PM Good morning girls: Looks like another :flame: HOT day here in central Nebraska, tomorrow they are promising us it will get over 100. I'm so excited!! I'll just stay close to my air conditioner. Luckily our humidity is only 33%. CHERYL: So glad your little Ozzy is home and doing better. Know his mommy is giving him lots of love. Give him a nuzzle from my Scamper and a love from me. LINDA: Congrats on the weight loss. It is always nice to see a lower number. HY: Good luck with that darn thyroid. When it isn't working right it sure can mess up your whole life. Getting back on medication will help. How could you go so long without it? If I miss a week I am climbing the walls. Your exercise plan sounds super. Good luck with it. My tummy is telling me that it is almost lunch time. Have a big tossed salad and some salmon waiting for me at home.YUM Will talk to you later. Have a great day!! DONNA Cheryl120 06-07-2006, 08:45 PM Donna and Scamper...Thanks for sending a hug to Ozzy. Your salad sounds so good. I love salmon, and can't wait for vacation to get here. My son always treats us to grilled salmon when we visit. Hy...Thanks for you kind thoughts for Ozzy. He is feeling so much better and almost back to his old self. Good luck at the doctor's tomorrow. Linda...So happy the fairy fat mother gave you a dusting of fat reducing dust. Now, please send her my way! Well I am up .5 pounds, but that's OK. It will be gone by next week. Have a great evening ladies. Cheryl hyacinth merry 06-08-2006, 12:21 PM Of course!! Well it's good news and bad news. The bad news is that yesterday I had a visitor that stayed MUCH longer than I expected so I didn't get to do my one mile Walk Away the Pounds routine. The good news is that I did my AM yoga yesterday as soon as I got up and again this morning. If I can accomplish that again tomorrow, then I'll feel like I did something :) Maybe NEXT week I can better schedule the WATP session - I do want to incorporate both programs into each day, but at least for now, the morning Yoga seems to be do-able. My Endo appointment's this afternoon - I'm kind of getting butterflies for some reason - lol!! Will let you know the latest. HY Donna72664 06-08-2006, 03:46 PM CHERYL: Bet that .5 lb gain is from stress of worrying about Ozzy. Now that he is feeling better you will too. Chin up, it will go away:hug: HY: Got my fingers crossed for you and that Endo test. GOOD LUCK! Hey you got the yoga thing going, congrats. WATP will follow. We got another .5 inch of rain last night. Humid today though.Sounds like we are in for another chance of storms tonight. Just saw the fire trucks head out, hope it isn't a grass fire as it is windy today too. Just wanted to jump in and say "HI" this afternoon. Have a good day!!! DONNA Cheryl120 06-08-2006, 11:22 PM Donna...Ozzy is so much better and his breath doesn't knock you for a loop:dizzy: My .5 is water weight. It's been so warm here and I have been drinking like a water buffalo, and not getting rid of it. When it's hot, I retain water and my feet swell up. I never get rid of the water till I go to sleep. Then I'm up and down all night. Hy...Hope you got good news from your doctor. Congrats and at least getting your yoga in the last couple of days. Linda...Cooler weather for us today and overcast. I've enjoyed not sweating for a change.:D I've been busy today, got my laundry done and also went up and cleaned my sewing room and strighten up my fabric stash. Started working on the quilt again, and it went well today. I'm almost done with the first row of kids. I had to go back and resew all of them, since my satin stitch wasn't wide enough and the pieces were pulling away from the stitches. At least it keeps me from eating. Cheryl meowee 06-09-2006, 11:59 AM Just a quick Hello to let you know I'm thinking of you, girls. We are sitting in the middle of a solidly stuck low pressure bomb and I've got the worst migraine I've had in about a year. Hopefully I'll get over the head pounding problem soon and be able to stare at this bright computer screen again. See you all later. :carrot: Cheryl120 06-09-2006, 11:37 PM Hello...Just got back from our car meeting/BBQ. Thank goodness they reserved an inclosed shelter. It has been pouring down rain since 3am and it's cold. We are going to be in the low 40's tonight. I feel like turning on the furance, but I'll just add another quilt to the bed and cuddle with Ozzy. Hubby is working a 10PM to 6AM shift tonight. Made the Rhubarb Peach Crisp for the BBQ today, it was soooo good. I will post the receipe tomorrow for you ladies. Linda...Hope you are feeling better and that miserable migrain has left for destination unknown. Hy...Hope you had a good report from your doctor. Talk to gals tomorrow. Cheryl Cheryl120 06-10-2006, 10:42 PM Hi Ladies...Not much going on today. Went and saw the movie "CARS" this afternoon. Real cute movie. Helped the little gal that is staying with us do some machine embroidery this morning. she sewed out a turtle on a baby bid she is making. Between helping her, I pressed the kids together with their clothes. I need to do about 90 of them. Check in tomorrow and see how everyone is doing. Cheryl meowee 06-11-2006, 07:19 PM Hi gang . . . I'm still out here and I'm still suffering although things are not quite as bad as they were at the end of the week. What little time I can stand to look at the computer screen, I've pretty well been spending on the 'work project'. Why does everything always happen at once. anyway, keep on moving and shaking, folks, and I'll see you soon. :carrot: Cheryl120 06-11-2006, 08:40 PM Linda...Glad to hear you are feeling a little better. Sorry your head is still pounding. Get better real soon! Not much going on here, trying to stay warm. Had to turn the furance on this afternoon when I got home from church. I haven't done much of anything today except take a nap. Cheryl hyacinth merry 06-12-2006, 11:32 AM Not a good report from my doctor (soon to be my ex-doctor, btw) So I had to have biopsies and those hurt and it all just was upsetting. I'm embarrassed by all the crap that has been going on in my life the past couple years - I feel like people think I'm making this up there is so much (I *WISH* I was making it up!!!) Now just waiting for the results of the biopsies. I did my DVD workout this AM and trying to keep that at least a constant in all this chaos. No weight loss this week but no gain either. Hope others here are doing OK and seeing some sucess with their programs  Hy Donna72664 06-12-2006, 01:25 PM Well here it is Monday again!!!! LINDA::hug: Sure hope your headache has eased off or given up completely. CHERYL: You had to turn the furnace on??? Wow it must be cold. Know we had a lovely weekend, only in the 70's. Today started out cool, but the sun is out now. HY::hug: Sorry to hear you had to have biopsies and that they hurt. You have every right to be upset. We are here for you, so go ahead and get  off. You have had your share these last few weeks. Hopefully the exercise will help keep your mind off of things for a little while. I'm praying for you to have a swift recovery from all of this. Keep posting it helps to vent. Have had carpet layers here in the office this morning, trying to fix mistakes they made. Now if we can get the electrician back to finish with call lights and the plumber back to finish some things in the bathroom we might be able to get ready for our open house on the 30th. Want to use a patriotic theme since it is so close to the 4th. Will have to get some decorations purchased and make up some flower arrangements. Hope all are having a good day. Will check back in tomorrow. DONNA meowee 06-12-2006, 06:13 PM Well gang . . . thanks to all your good wishes I think I'm mostly back to normal again. . . or at least as 'normal' as I ever get . . . Cheryl . . . I know exactly what you mean. It has been 'furnace' cold here, too. The sun finally came out late this afternoon and so far so good. Hy . . . So sorry about all the doctor-related problems, chickie. Congratulations on sticking with the exercise. I'm impressed. That's the first thing that goes into limbo when I feel lousy . . . either physically or emotionally. Donna . . . Good Luck getting those little carpet and electrical problems taken care of. Have a great "Open House". Hope it's lots of fun. Not too much going on for me . . . I've been trying to keep a low profile to give the head time to catch up with itself. Have done a little bit of beading and a little bit more than a little bit of work-project stuff. Nothing too tiring, though. Well, I'll see you tomorrow gang, all things being equal. Keep moving and shaking and doing the right stuff as much as you can. :carrot: Cheryl120 06-12-2006, 10:04 PM Hy...So sorry to hear you did not have a good report from the doctor and you had to have a biospy and it was painfull. Please know that I will keep you in my prayers and we are here for you to vent. Linda...Glad to hear your head feels a little better. Yes, it's been cold, but today we were in the 70's and by Wednesday, we will be 86. I just like a happy medium of 75 with a slight breeze. Donna...Hope you get the carpet and electrical work done in time for your open house. Well ladies, I haven't done much of anything today except go to town early this morning to have some papers faxed and pick up bread from the bread store. Had a little tiff with my foster daughter, which always stresses me out, but I didn't cave and hit the frig. I need to get back out and start mowing again tomorrow. Just a good workout is how I look at it. Cheryl meowee 06-13-2006, 09:44 AM Good Morning, Ladies . . . Nova Scotia is having a very nice morning. Sunny and nice coolish temperatures. It can stay this way for a long, long time as far as I'm concerned. Cheryl . . . so sorry to hear about the little problem with the foster-daughter but congratulations on staying away from the comfort food, girl. Be proud of yourself, that's a great NSV. Not too much happening in my world. Lots of work-related stuff, no doubt, and hopefully a little crafting time squeezed in. Other than that, hopefully I'll just keep moving and shaking along with the rest of you. Have a great day, gang. Hope to see you really soon. :carrot: the slim me 06-13-2006, 03:02 PM HI Everyone, It's a nice, cool day here in Michigan. It's been really crazy this last week. I've had the heat one one day, air conditioner the next! Just wish it would make up it's mind!!! I'm sure the weather will be so warm soon that i'll be complaining about that too. I took my GS to school this morning (last day this year) and went walking in the mall. So got that out of the way. Did my weights yesterday so i'm pretty well on target! Linda, Hope you're feeling better! It's hard to concentrate on anything if you'r feeling lousey! Hi, I'm so sorry that you've been having such a hard time, medically. I'm sending out good vibes and prayers that everything turns out ok! I've got to hand it to you girl, if you can stay on a diet through all this, you GOOD! Cheryl, Good for you for handling the tiff with FD so well! I am a stress eater and have to really work on not eating then. You'e an inspiration! Donna, Hope everything comes together soon and everything gets done by the 4'th! Take care, Freda meowee 06-14-2006, 08:32 AM Hi Freda . . . good going with the exercise. Sounds like you are having much the same kind of weather as we are. We've definitely lost the sunshine again, too. I'm feeling pretty sunny on the inside though . . . the Fairy-Fat-Mother visited last night and took away another 1.8 ugly pounds . . . yippee. See you soon, gang. hyacinth merry 06-14-2006, 04:10 PM Bigs Hugs  to all for your kind words to me. Tomorrow I should learn the biopsy results and then (well actually either/or) I need to start thinking about how to pursue all of this. If the biopsy is OK, I still have a out-of-whack thyroid. I think you have to encounter a lot of medical prejudice when it comes to the thyroid too, especially women. Well I'll let everyone know how it goes. I've been doing my 30 mins of yoga each morning - the Walk Away the Pounds program I just am not getting to :( Not giving up on it tho...I'll try to incorporate it into my schedule next week - my goal being to do the yoga first thing in the AM and the WATP mid-morning or early afternoon. Oh, btw, I don't mean there's anything wrong with the WATP video - I just haven't seemed to be able to fit into my schedule as of yet. My problem, not the DVD's ;) (Also, I can't handle any exercise at night - it makes me stay wake and I just toss and turn all night!! Wierd. So I need to find a good daytime schedule to do the WATP) Congrats on the pounds lost - you know who you are!!!:D Woohoo!!! LOL-ing about the need for the furnace - eek!! As you know, here in AZ we have a natural furnace right now called the HOT, blazing sun !!! :-) Hy meowee 06-15-2006, 03:59 PM Hello everybody . . . boy has it ever been quiet around here. Hope all your news is good news, HY. Have a great day, everybody. See you again soon. :carrot: hyacinth merry 06-15-2006, 04:30 PM Biopsy results "Inconclusive"...I'm really thinking that is akin to a scam on some level and wonder how many unneccesary biopsies are performed by this "doctor"!!! Of course his office was all ready to do a carotid (sp?) US on me this morning as soon as I walked in the door- huh??? I said no way, I was there just to hear the test results for my THYROID. I did drag my husband in with me today for the test results consultation and wowee - his presense made a big difference. Well, that was kind of a no=brainer and why I insisted he go along this time. Anyway, my husband said even with the endo on his "good behavior" for my husband's benefit today, this guy was still, in my DH's words, "An odd duck" - LOL- no kidding!! I'm not even going to bore you/raise your BP several points by telling you his unsolicited comments about how I should be controlling my portion sizes, exercising, low carb is bad and blah, blah, blah. How ignorant :p First I didn't ask him and second, if he'd taken the time to ask me what I was doing, he would know I already watch what I eat and exercise and have done so for years. So as a friend pointed out, I know pretty much what I did 4 months ago - nothing!! Well I do know not to be lead down a cash cow path by a doctor that I truly believe has a manic/depressive disorder and just plain sucks as a MD, let alone a board-certified specialist. And I'm pretty sure his wife hates him, if he has one. Hehe. Yes, I DO feel better now - lol!! Thanks for the opportunity to vent. I see my regular MD next Tues, he knows me and how hard I've worked over the years with my weight so at least that appointment will be helpful. I've lost a pound this week and I did my yoga tape this morning first thing, so staying with the program. :carrot: And that's the news -somewhat confusing, but *I* think my thyroid nodule is just fine once I read the path report myself...Dr.Hy :D Cheryl120 06-16-2006, 12:07 AM Linda...WOW! Yippie for you! Now don't you be hogging that fairy fat mother, you hear! Freda...We have had the same kind of weather as you. Heat on one day and air conditioner the next. Got the air on tonight, hot and muggy here! I'm such a stress eater, but I don't have any good junk food in the house, cuz if I did, it would be gone!! Hy...Bravo for doing your workout's, that's AWESOME. I have slacked off a bit except for mowing the yard, and that's a workout in it's self.:carrot: :carrot: Hy, get a new doctor!!! Congrats on the 1 pound the fairy fat mother took away. Nice that Linda is sharing her with you. Well gals, it's been a very stressful week and good thing I don't have any goodies in the house except for fruits and veggie, cuz I would be grazing big time!! Got a very busy weekend ahead. Our car club has it's big show this weekend, so I will be working tomorrow night and all day Saturday. I just hope the weather stays nice, but not too hot. On the weight loss adventure, WW said I loss 1.8 pounds, but my scales said I stayed the same. So, I'm keeping my ticker where it is at. I'll try to get back and check in with you all tomorrow. Cheryl Donna72664 06-16-2006, 12:36 PM Hi girls, it's taken me awhile to get back to you. It is cloudy and muggy here today. Jumped on the treadmill as soon as I got to work this morning so now I have that done for the day. We are traveling tomorrow to help some friends celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Will really have to watch the goodies, but know you are all looking over my shoulder :o so I'll try to be good. HY: Where did you find this so called doctor? Doesn't sound like he has helped you at all, even had the nerve to insult you.Boy I'd get rid of him. Hope we can help by being here for you.You have every right to vent. Good luck this week. I'm so proud of you for keeping up your yoga and losing a pound. The fairy fat mother is keeping her eye on you.If you see her would you send her my way:shrug: I just can't break this slump I'm in. CHERYL: Keep up the good work. At least you don't have any of those bad goodies in the house to turn to.It's just so easy to turn to food when your life seems to be going in circles. FREDA: It's good to hear from you again. LINDA: You have to share the fairy fat mother. She just isn't making the rounds as fast as I'd like her too. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.Did you get your Father's Day shopping done? My husband and I don't do MD or FD for each other and my Dad has been gone for 5 years. DH's Dad just had his birthday so we took care of FD at the same time. Talk to you next week, just maybe the ffm will find me this week LOVE TO YOU ALL------------------DONNA the slim me 06-16-2006, 03:36 PM Hi Everyone, You know I had pretty well resigned myself that 116-117 was ok and I was pretty happy with the way My clothes fit and wasn't going to try to reach goal of 115? Today I stepped on the scale and it was 115!!!! I haven't tried to lose any more, just continued to eat healthy and exercise and I guess it paid off. Linda, YEAH!!! Another visit from the fat-fairy-mother! Doesn't that just make your whole WEEK? Hy, You got a visit too huh? That fat-fairy-mother has been a busy lady! Lets keep her hopping! Sorry to hear that your experience with the doctor has been so negative. Be sure to let your primary know what happened. Big hugs, girl! You could probally use them about now! Cheryl, If WW told me I lost weight, I would listen to WW!! I'll take anything I can get! Donna, Enjoy the party but remember you don't have to eat to have fun! I know it's hard with all that lovely food around but we just end up paying for it later! Not worth it!! And remember, you can run but you can't hide from the fat-fairy mother! She will find you soon. Have a lovely day, Freda meowee 06-16-2006, 06:51 PM Hello all . . . Alberto has left the region and left us with an absolutely gorgeous day . . . although I do think he may have taken a couple of my roof shingles with him . . . the light fixture in my computer room sprung a leak about bedtime last night. :dizzy: Will have to see what happens next time it rains. It did this during a bad storm once last year. Hi Hy . . . Wow, I certainly agree with the comments others have made. You definitely need to see another doctor . . . this guy sounds quite a bit beyond "queer duck". Congratulations on the pound you got rid of . . . too bad you've been doing 'everything wrong'. ;) Maybe you should report this "quacker" to the board that certified him before he really hurts somebody in more than just the wallet. Hi Cheryl . . . So sorry things have been so stressful for you, but congratulations on staying in control foodwise. We all know that's no simple task sometimes; so be proud and count your victories where you find them. Hope the 'real scales' give you good news soon. Have a great time at the car show. Hi Donna . . . Just hang in there, chickie, the Fairy-Fat-Mother is on her way, although I know there are times she seems to be fighting a head-wind. :dizzy: Just keep doing the right stuff and she will get there. In the meantime, have a good time at the anniversary celebration . . . but not "too much" of a good time, now. :p Hi Freda . . . See what happens when you don't let yourself fret over the last little bit. Congratulations, girl, and you deserve every non-ounce of it. :bravo: Well, I've been very busy with the work-project today and need a few more hours on it before I can put it away for a few days. Most of next week should be fairly quiet on that front so hope I can get some other stuff done. Have a good evening, everybody. Keep moving and shaking and heading in the proper direction. See you soon. :carrot: hyacinth merry 06-16-2006, 09:03 PM Oh gosh, that goes without saying I would never go back to that Endo - lol!! I went back yesterday only to get my test results and to prove to myself that I'm not going to let a wierd-o like that keep me from getting what I need - and in this case it was the biopsy report. Sorry I gave you all the impression I would be continuing to seek anything from Dr. Doo-Doo-Head!!! No, no, a thousand times no!! I now have copies of all my tests in my hot little hands to turn over to my regular MD next week. Hy (Thanks again for all the good thoughts and wishes!) meowee 06-17-2006, 04:33 PM Happy Saturday . . . it's another gorgeous day . . . although it is just about up to my personal maximum high. . . it's sunny, warm, no humidity and a lovely breeze . . .sheer delight. Glad to hear you are rid of that ??doctor??, Hy. Wise decision. Have a great evening, everybody . . . wherever you are and whatever you are doing . . . hope it's the good stuff. see you soon. :carrot: Cheryl120 06-18-2006, 11:12 PM Hi Girls, Very busy and stressfull weekend for us. The car show was great! Had beautiful weather, lots of people and a tent for me to work under this year so I wouldn't burn like I did last year. The good thing is we won $ 200.00 in the raffle and a club member won my quilt. The bad was my FD was a pain!! We also got a new FD on Thursday and I thought she was doing well. Went into my sewing room this afternoon and knew immediately that something was not right! The smell alone just about knocked me for a loop and things were moved around. Anyway, the new FD threw up in my sewing room last night and never said anything! I found it at 3 PM and boy was I steaming! She threw up on my computer desk, printer, the wall, car parts and the carpet. On top of that, I noticed that the new can of can air I had on my computer desk and the one by my sewing machine were missing, but I found the straw next to the puke. She says she was not huffing, but I think she was. Anyway, I called who I had to call to report it and locked my room and all aerolsol cans up. Hy...So glad you got rid of the quack! Freda...WhooHoo and way to go on reaching 115. I can only dream of that number right now, but know one day I will get there. Don't get me wrong, I love that I lost 1.8 lbs at WW, but their scales are about 5 lbs heavier than mine at home, so I go by mine for the ticker. Donna...Hope you had a good time at the party and you could hear us gals whispering in your ears not to eat that! LOL Linda...Glad Alberto has headed out to sea. Hope your roof wasn't damaged too bad. Well gals, I have a very busy week ahead of me with the FD's having appointments. I know that I will be out walking or mowing my stress away. No goodies in the house except watermelon, broccoli, carrots and mushrooms. Sounds real yummy doesn't? NOT!!! Have a good one and I talk to ya later. Love to you all, Cheryl Donna72664 06-19-2006, 10:38 AM GOOD MORNING ALL YOU CHICKIES. First of all I want to thank all of you for whispering in my ear on Saturday. A couple of times I heard someone yelling:nono: . THANK YOU!! I allowed myself one alcoholic beverage. The lunch was beautiful, I had a pulled pork sandwich, lots of fresh veggies, a few mixed nuts and a very small piece of the cake. It was tough but you gals kept me honest. FREDA: WOW, you made it!!! That's fantastic, and you weren't even really trying to lose those last couple of pounds. Way to go. Thanks for the encouragement for Saturday. LINDA: Thanks for telling me that the Fairy Fat Mother is on her way. I think I'm ready for her to swing that magic wand. CHERYL: Sorry you had such a bad experience with the new FD. I'm just so amazed at people like you that have the strength to take these kids in and try to help them and then they do things like that. Good Luck with her, she needs someone like you to help her.Wish I had what it takes, but I just don't have a lot of patients with kids; period. That's too bad that she had to pick your sewing room to do it in,but guess she got what she wanted; your attention!! Don't blame you for being steamed. We had 2" of rain over the weekend, now it is to get to 90 today, nice and steamy. Think I will run my errands for the office before it gets too warm.So will sign off and wish all of you a great day. DONNA hyacinth merry 06-19-2006, 11:04 AM Doing my yoga every morning and woohoo - sticking with it and not letting anything else take priority until that's accomplished first thing after I wake up :carrot: I swam quite a bit this weekend so little by little getting back to my original fitness levels BEFORE the thyroid debacle began earlier this year. Hy hyacinth merry 06-19-2006, 11:07 AM Cheryl I'm so sorry to read about the problems you are experiencing with your FD. I'll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I hope this girl can turn her life around. Hy hyacinth merry 06-19-2006, 11:10 AM First of all I want to thank all of you for whispering in my ear on Saturday. Congratulations Donna!!! A great message to read first thing this Monday morning. This will help me start off *my* week with a positive attitude - thank you! :D Hy meowee 06-19-2006, 12:35 PM Hi Gang . . . Another gorgeous day . . . lovely breeze to help keep the heat and humidity at bay . . . but you know it's going to get worse . . . the dehumidifier turned itself on for the first time this year. :p Must get out and get some errands done before it gets hotter. Radio just told me it's 28C (82F) already. :( Cheryl . . . glad you had a good time at the car show and sorry you had problems on the home front. I don't know how you do it, girl. Thank God there are people with your kind of heartand patience in this troubled world. Donna . . . good to hear you did so well. No place to go but down, and that's a good thing. Hy . . . congratulations for getting the exercise in so early. Bet you feel great to know you've done it. Have a great day, everybody . . . keep moving and shaking and heading in the downward direction. See you all soon. :carrot: Cheryl120 06-20-2006, 09:12 PM Hi Girls! Things seem to be calming down here, I'm not so stressed, but I do have a very busy week. I'm getting to the point I can't wait for school to start! Doing good with my eating and I did get some walking in today. Donna...Glad to hear you could hear our voices in your ear. You did great Lady!! Hy...Way to go on getting your exercising in. We have to find time to put ourselves first. Not always easy when we have families. Linda...It's not easy being a foster parent and we would like to quit. Have been doing it for almost 6 1/2 years. Don't know if I have it in me to do another 4 years. Teenage girls are alot harder than boys. WW tomorrow, so will let you know how I do. Cheryl meowee 06-21-2006, 12:42 PM Morning all . . . weather doesn't know what it wants to be today . . . sunny or cloudy. . . it is sure about warm and humid. The fairy-fat-mother made a visit and took away .6 of a pound. Guess she'd already picked up a heavy load elsewhere in her travels and just didn't have room for any more of mine. That's OK, anything that keeps things going in the great downward direction makes me happy, happy, happy. :D Glad things are calming down for you, Cheryl  And I really hope the F-F-M has room for lots of your pounds to take away with her this morning. :D Hang in there, and keep on doing all the good stuff. Well time to get about my business. Have a good day. Keep moving and shaking, everybody . . . see you all later. :carrot: Cheryl120 06-21-2006, 09:41 PM Evening All... Beautiful, but very windy here today. Hard to believe it is the first day of summer and we start loosing a couple of minutes of daylight each day.:( The fairy fat mother did not make it to my house, I'm up .3 lbs. But, I look on the bright side of things, it could of been 10lbs if I had buckled under the stress and ate every thing in sight. Linda...So happy that fairy fat mother had room and took away .6lbs for you. Every little bit helps.:D Leaving you with some thoughts we should be saying to ourselves each day. Empowering Beliefs: I am a winner There is nothing I can't handle Be free of guilt today My possibilites are endless My family will benefit from my healthy choices Possitive Self-Talk: I am the best friend I have I am a capable human being I love myself for who I am I deserve to be fit I am able to handle any problems I face I WILL REACH MY GOAL Affirmations I have accomplished harder choices than this before I have the ability to reach my own goals I am responisible for my own feelings Belief in myself is a step towards personal growth Cheryl meowee 06-22-2006, 11:23 AM Hi everybody . . . wherever you are hiding . . . come on out and play, please. Cheryl . . . so sorry the FFM missed your house, but, under the circumstances, i think you can count that little, tiny, burp as an NSV. I'm sure things will be very different next week and you'll be marching along the downward road again. Just keep up the positive thinking. See you soon, kiddies. :carrot: hyacinth merry 06-22-2006, 02:47 PM Cheryl you are AWESOME`for standing up for yourself and not using food to make yourself feel better under very difficult circumstances. This really tests your mettle, to be able to stay on track when things are so stressful. I'm really proud of you!!!:D I hope things will be resolved in your family situation and you can feel great again here REAL soon! Loved the affrimations and quotes and thanks for sharing. Meowee WooHoo on the loss at the scales - hey, what's that saying, Rome wasn't built in a day? :D You are taking the HEALTHY route to good health and weight loss. I'm proud of you too! All those little weight loss numbers when added together DO count! I'm hoping I can FINALLY change my ticker or whatever you call those little things to a new number next Monday. I'm doing the yoga faithfully every morning as soon as I get up - well M-F that is. And I've been swimming. Still haven't got the WATP routine figured out. That will come tho :D My GP appointment went really well. And I have all those "fun" tests scheduled now for this and next week -PAP, bone density and mammo. I hate the mammo's as they have always hurt, I mean REALLY hurt. I called around and found that where I'm going has something called a MammoPad that helps cushion the ribs a bit better (the exact place where it hurts me) and just makes the experience a bit more comfortable... ...and that's all I ask, that they TRY...I've had more experiences where the tech's really weren't good and obviously did not care what I was feeling. I know there is a certain amount of compression that is usually needed, but as I said my biggest pain was from the metal plate jabbing into my sensitive ribs - one time I actually had my knees buckle. Well it's this a pleasant post!! Sorry! I guess what I'm trying to say is that I deliberately looked for a facility that would put my well-being and comfort FIRST (for a change! Man, these places treat their patients like lab rats anymore) Hopefully now that my biopsies came back OK and the other doctors feel I should have NEVER had them in the first place, well I feel like I can join the living again and start "catching up" on things I've let go for quite awhile. :carrot: Hope it's a great day for all  Hot here as is usual for a desert! Hy Donna72664 06-22-2006, 03:29 PM I finally found my way back. Woke up to thunder and rain this AM, what a wonderful sound. It is suppose to rain more this afternoon. It's 1:30and only 76, it is great!! LINDA: That F-F-M has sure been hanging around your door. That is great congratulations on getting another loss. In the end they all add up. CHERYL: Hang in there, Linda will share the F-F-M with the rest of us soon!Thank you for your thoughts, just what I needed today:love:.Decided to start on some new strengthening exercises. They use the bands instead of weights. Will see if I can get them done at least 3 times a week. HY: Good luck on your "fun" tests. Those mammo's are just so much fun. I love it when they get you cranked down and then they say "now don't breathe", as if you could if you needed to! Have to get some work done here so will talk to you later, DONNA the slim me 06-22-2006, 03:42 PM Hi Everyone, Sorry i've been MIA lately, just a lot going on. Before I left this morning, I got another row of kids pressed on the quilt and started sewing them down. Hope this row goes a little faster than the last one. See you chickies tomorrow. Cheryl Donna72664 06-23-2006, 10:20 AM TGIF Good morning. Just dropping in for a sec, then I better get some work done. Today is our big "sidewalk festival" in town. Unfortunately we have so few retail businesses anymore that it really is a joke. Glad I'm not in retail anymore. FREDA: Sorry your grandson needs surgery, but I sure will say a prayer for him, hope it goes well. I will say a prayer for you too,it's hard to sit by and watch our loved ones hurt. CHERYL: Good luck with your row of kids. Quilting sounds like so much fun. OMG!!:carrot: I almost forgot to tell you, the F-F-M did stop by,she only took .5 with her but hey that is more than she's taken in a loooong time.Maybe by this time next week I can actually weigh what my tracker says again. Have a great weekend everyone.Keep movin and groovin DONNA meowee 06-23-2006, 06:15 PM Hi everybody . . . our weather has taken a turn for the worse . . . hot, humid and about to storm, bigtime, and the forecst is for more of the same until Tuesday. Yuck :( HY  You definitely have fun with those great tests, girl . . . at least you sound like you are back on the right track now that you've finished with Dr. Duck. DONNA  Glad to hear that your weather has broken and a big YAY on the loss. Nowhere to go but down, girl. FREDA  Definitely wishing you and your family all the best. Hope the grandson's surgery goes smoothly and he recovers very quickly. CHERYL  Good luck sewing those kids . . . glad to hear you can get back into the sewing room without having to hold your breath. Nothing too much new around here. The nasty weather is playing nasty tricks and threatening my head with another migraine. I've been napping a lot today and so far, so good. Did you know that you can practice for a mammogram? Lie on your side with your breast just behind the back wheel of the car and have your hubby slowly back over you; then repeat for the other side. The mammogram won't seem nearly so bad. :dizzy: Have a great evening, gang. See you soon and you all just keep moving and shaking and doing all the right stuff. :carrot: Cheryl120 06-24-2006, 12:33 AM Donna...WOOHOO on .5 lbs gone. You'll be at your ticker weight before you know it. Linda...Sounds like you are having rough weather just like us. We had tornados that touched down near us this afternoon. Lost power for about 3 hours. At least I got some sewing in before it got nasty. Hope that migrain never happen for you. Love your version of a mammo exam. LOL Freda...Hope your grandson's surgery went well today. Hope you are doing well also, the waiting is always the hardest. Hy...How did your test go? Did you survive the boob squeeze? You could always try Linda's version. We would probably never complain. Had to go to town this afternoon and buy a new battery for the riding lawn mower. We just bought a battery for it a month ago. So irritating that it has gone bad. Called the company where we bought it at and they will give us a full refund the next time we go to the big city. Hope you girls have a good weekend. Cheryl meowee 06-24-2006, 06:19 PM Where is everybody, today? Hi Cheryl. meowee 06-25-2006, 07:45 PM Another day of talking to myself . . . come out, come out wherever you are, gang. Misti in Seattle 06-25-2006, 08:49 PM Hi everybody! Wow the fairy fat-mother has sure been missing MY house for the past couple of weeks also! Sure hope tomorrow morning is evidence of her visit!!! Cheryl120 06-25-2006, 11:30 PM Hi Gang...Sorry I was MIA yesterday, just under a lot of stress and in a rotten mood. Took it out by sewing on my quilt and listen to my music. The fairy fat mother paid me a visit, I'm down 1.2lbs.:carrot: :carrot: I'm almost into the 20's. YIPPIE!!!! Got the kids sewed on the bottom boarder this afternoon. Tomorrow I'm going to layout the kids on one side and start sewing them down. Lastnight I kept my fingers busy finishing up a counted cross stitch I have been working on for 2 years. Going to add a quilted boarder before I get it framed. Well my eyes are pretty tired tonight, I promise Linda I will be here tomorrow. Hugs:hug: to you all! Cheryl the slim me 06-26-2006, 08:46 AM Hi Everyone, It looks like it's going to rain here today. There goes my plans for walking to the library. I'll have to do some other form of exercise. And it's my weight day also. I'm sorry to say that I haven't been watching my intake too closely the last few days. I knew I was in for a surprise this morning when I got on the scale. Up 3 lbs! Now, why can't losing be that easy. So, i'm back to my old style of healthy eating and limiting the snacks. It's the stress I know, so hopefully when the stress is over I will be ok again. Thanks for all the prayers! My grandsons surgery went well. We still have to wait for the biopsy to come back so please keep him in your prayers. Although the surgeon said it looked good. Take care, freda meowee 06-26-2006, 11:51 AM Well . . . it's still raining . . . surprise, surprise . . . :( Gosh I hope it is soon over. :^: MISTI . . . good luck with the F-F-M, girl. Hopefully she'll visit really soon and take away lots and lots. CHERYL . . . Yay on the 1.2 pounds gone and congratulations on your extremely constructive day. Glad you put your down mood to such good use. FREDA . . . So sorry the scale- demon beat the F-F-M to your house. Hang in there, girl, and you'll beat him back into submission really soon. My sneak-peek at the scale this morning was a big mistake. Let's just say it showed an impossibly high number and whatever caused the strange burp, I hope it has gone again by my official Wednesday Weigh-In. That's what i get for peeking. :o Have a great day of moving and shaking, girls. See you later. :carrot: Cheryl120 06-26-2006, 10:58 PM Hi Gals, Got up early and gave the house a quick once over before it got hot. Layed out another row of kids and got all the body parts sewed down this afternoon. Tomorrow I hope to get started on sewing down the clothes. Got a big surprise this morning, turned on the computer and all of my bookmarks are gone!!! Do any of you know what would cause that? Good thing I'm in the habit of writting down all my web address in a notebook with passwords. You know, fuzzy brain syndrome. LOL Misti...Hope the FFM is visiting real soon. She's pretty sneeky. Linda...Sorry you took a quick peek at the scale, hopefully you have a surprise on Wednesday. Freda...Sorry the scales are up for you. Won't take you long to loose the 3 lbs. Glad your grandson's surgery went well. See you chickies tomorrow. Cheryl meowee 06-27-2006, 11:15 AM Oh CHERYL  Sorry to hear about the little computer glitch. Afraid I can't help you, but I'm only marginally computer-literate myself. Maybe your service provider is making changes? You are lucky you had 'manual back-up' ;) Have a good day, gang. Hope things are a little cooler wherever you are. Nova Scotia is still very humid and too hot, but the sun is starting to peek through from time to time this morning so I hope the worst is over for a bit. :^: Keep things moving and shaking gang. See you lighter. :carrot: the slim me 06-27-2006, 12:31 PM Good Morning all, I'm having such a hard time getting back on the wagon. I'm off to a slow start, but I always have trouble. That's why I could kick myself for falling off! someone reach down here and give me a hand up and a little slap on the head! Linda, You know you can't junp on that scale early! It's playing tricks on you for going out of turn! Cheryl, you're smarter than me! I didn't write down my favorites and the last time my computer went down I lost them! Most I could find but there were a couple that are gone forever! Hope everyone has a good day, Freda hyacinth merry 06-27-2006, 01:52 PM Thanks for all the prayers! My grandsons surgery went well. We still have to wait for the biopsy to come back so please keep him in your prayers. Although the surgeon said it looked good. Take care, freda Freda I've been MIA here recently, but did want to say that I have been thinking about your GS and am so happy to hear that his surgery went well! I'll keep thinking positive thoughts for good results from the biopsy too. Hy hyacinth merry 06-27-2006, 02:10 PM Sorry I haven't been around for a few days...I had a very difficult weekend thanks to a painful medical test. Unreal. Anyway, at that point I said "forget it" and cancelled my routine mammo and dexa scheduled for today. Honest to Pete, my mental health is at stake now!!! I need a break from all this stuff. I'll reschedule the tests next month. The stress and strain and pain did NOT help my program - I finally caved after several months of strictly following my Atkins and had a PINT of ice cream. Ack. But the good news is that THAT was it and I went right back the following day to observing my diet program. I am NOT going to let this stupid medical deal ruin my progress with my diet!! Last night I worked on making a schedule for myself for the month of July and also looked at what I want, or would like to accomplish in this upcoming month. Nothing fancy, just work on organizing my time, scheduling my workout sessions like I would a hair appointment, and also scheduling regular GROCERY SHOPPING DAYS - I'm excited about that last one - well excited that I thought of it!! I have a tendency to do things in the old "by-the seat-of-my-pants" method. To keep the right kind of food on hand here at home, I have to shop on a regular basis and more than once a week for the fresh produce. Soooo....I think that should work out easier if I just commit to a scheduled grocery shopping trip. Well, I'll let you all know how it goes next month ;) Thank you to All for the very sweet good wishes sent to me  That was so nice to read. Hy meowee 06-27-2006, 03:32 PM FREDA . . . :cp: :frypan: hope it helps, and :kickbutt: just for good measure. Have a good day, chickie . . . you can do it. meowee 06-27-2006, 04:01 PM Oh, HY . . . How terrible for you. I can certainly understand that a mammogram would not be high on your preference list right now. I am surprised you could stop with just a pint of ice cream. Your organization plans sound great, especially the regular shopping times. Hope it helps, kiddo. See you soon. We miss you when you're not here with us. Cheryl120 06-27-2006, 09:02 PM Freda...Linda beat me to the swift kick in the rear and the slap on the head, but I'll do it anyway! :kickbutt: :frypan: :frypan: :kickbutt: :frypan: :kickbutt: :frypan: Hope that helps. Hy...I think you have done a good thing in setting up regular shopping days. You did good at stopping at 1 pint of ice cream, I probably would of had a quart. Hope you had a pint of the good ice cream. Don't blame you for not wanting to go through anymore test. You have gone through so much already and deserve a rest. Linda...Still have not figured out the problem with the computer. I hope Hubby will call the server tomorrow. I need to check out bank statement and can't since it's not secured at this time. Well gals, I have been gone all day. Had three appointment with the FD to go to and one for me this afternoon. No sewing on the kids today and probably the same tomorrow since I have another appointment with the FD in the morning and WW for me. Hope to land Thursday and do nothing but sew. Have a good evening ladies. Cheryl hyacinth merry 06-28-2006, 11:03 AM Thanks everyone for the moral support. I hope to be able to return the favor if it's ever needed! Yes, the schedule and all is working out super for me! I even got my DH to agree to abide by a schedule for feeding our pets. He will feed them in the mornings and I'll feed them in the evenings for one week, then switch each following week, for the entire month of July. Then if either of it hates it or it just isn't working, we'll try something else or just go back to the chaos as usual after the month is up ;) The next challenge as far as scheduling for me is to figure out how to manage my computer time - I tend to waste a lot of time sometimes. I've experienced a lot of slow-down on yahoo with a couple groups I "own" - so have had to resort to saving every freaking message I post and all that kind of stuff  Anyway, I want to find a block of time each day and use that to post/read messages and restrict just to that designated time. Honest, I'm worse than a teenager sometimes with the the goofing off I do online - :kickcan: Yesterday was a good day for me, as far as my program and I just have to keep building on these successful days and not the crappy ones. And that's the news that's fit to print from me :D Have a good day all! Hy hyacinth merry 06-28-2006, 11:09 AM Hy...Hope you had a pint of the good ice cream. Cheryl Why of course!!! It was one of those fancy brands that has no additives and all. I didn't even look at the calorie count - like that would have stopped me anyway - lol!! I'm sure it was like 10,000 per tablespoon ;) Oh well, I had my fling and now it's time to return to sanity... Hy meowee 06-28-2006, 11:55 AM Hello everybody . . . I am in a very foul mood this morning. I still have my 3.6 lbs of WWW and I refuse to move by ticker backwards. It's as if the whole month of June never even happened and I don't deserve this, but I'm very busy today trying to make it turn into a self-fulfilling-prophecy. Hopefully I'll lose this blue-funk of an appetite before it actually does. See you later. :^: hyacinth merry 06-28-2006, 03:17 PM Hello everybody . . . I am in a very foul mood this morning. Hopefully I'll lose this blue-funk of an appetite before it actually does. See you later. :^: Sending Meowee a big hug and a sympathetic shoulder  It ISN'T fair, you are oh-so-right!! Some of us just have to work so very hard and then it seems sometimes that STILL isn't enough!! Keep on focusing on your goal and remember all the health benefits you've already recieved from doing your program. I think it's good to recognize what helps and what DOESN'T help during those times when you are feeling low. Like if I feel rotten, it makes me feel worse if people say "Oh it's OK, blah, blah, blah..!" It's NOT OK, allright???!!! LOL. So I won't do that here to you either :D Sometime me getting p*ssed off is what gets me really going in a new and/or more successful direction. Anyway I'm confident you can turn this around and blow those extra pounds right off the map :carrot: Hy Cheryl120 06-28-2006, 09:57 PM Linda...Those subborn pounds are water weight and the older we get, the longer they like to stick around. Hang in there! Hy...So glad you had the good ice cream.:D Makes it a whole lot sweeter. Went to my WW meeting today and I was down 2 pounds. Made my day!! Had lunch out with my friend and I can't be eating any fried foods like I did today. I just feel yucky!!! I have one meeting tomorrow afternoon, and then I hope to stay home for a couple of days. See you gals tomorrow. Cheryl the slim me 06-29-2006, 03:06 PM Hi everyone, :thanks: :dizzy: I needed that! A good reminder to stay on the straight and narrow!:D Thanks also for the prayers for my grandson. He has to go back to the surgeon the 10'th. I'll sure be relieved when it's over. Hy, I know those medical tests, especially that one, can be really painful! I put it off untill the last min. I get them, but I don't have to like it! The Dr. has been bugging me about a colonoscopy too. This is the year I give in and get it done. One of my resolutions! Don't let ANYTHING stand in the way of you staying on your diet and getting healthier! Do what cha gotta do girl! And good for you for making a schedule for the important things! You know my Motto: plan, plan, plan!! Meow, Hope you're in a better mood! Just let the weight gain make you more determined! Next time I get the urge to eat something I know is a no-no I'll remember the kick in the pants! Cheryl, Hope you'e spending the day sewing and having fun! remember, every day is a new day, a new start! Freda Cheryl120 06-29-2006, 10:20 PM Freda...Glad to hear your grandson is doing better. Glad the swift kicks and banging on the head got your attention. LOL No, I haven't done any sewing today, but hope to do it tomorrow. Very hot and humid here, have sever thunderstormes coming in for the night. Hy and Linda...Hope you gals are having a good day. See you ladies tomorrow. Cheryl hyacinth merry 06-30-2006, 12:05 PM Nothing new here - For A Switch!! LOL. Thank goodness... I'm staying on track, keeping things in perspective (I think!) and renewing my committment to my program as I look forward to July 1st and the start of a new month. The last couple days I've been working on getting all my loose photos into albums and replacing a couple old albums with newer ones that are acid-free, etc. I also scanned several old pictures into the computer and have been pulling my hair out with that little endeavor - my scanner was acting up...oh, I'm not gonna bore you with the details, but will leave it at this: I wasted about 4 hours. Computers!!! Grrrrr.... I Have MS Picture It! that was bundled with other software that came with my computer, but it has always been "fussy" and I'm about fed up with it's hissy fits. I'm thinking about trying out the photoshop elements free 30 day trial. I know how to use that program too. Have a good weekend all -and a Happy 4th of July to those of us here that celebrate this day   Hugs to all, Hy meowee 06-30-2006, 04:48 PM Hi there, Ladies . . . Just wanted to let you know I'm alive and kicking . . . but not very hard . . . as a matter of fact I'm trying to move as little as possible. This has been a long and very oppresive heat and humidity wave for Nova Scotia. Boy I hope it breaks soon. :^: The good news is that I only went into food melt-down for about half a day and then I got back on track with proper eating . . . guess I just don't know how to have a really violent pig-out any more. YIPPEE . . . I'm counting that as a non-scale-victory in and of itself. I haven't gotten on the scale again but I know I still have the www because my ankles look like somebody inflated them like balloons. Hopefully the weather will change before next Wednesday's weigh-in and I can at least get back to where I started before this week came along. Anyway, hope everybody has a great long-weekend and lots of great fireworks no mater which side of the US/Canada border you are on. Keep on doing the good stuff and I'll see you all really soon. :carrot: meowee 07-01-2006, 03:34 PM Hi gang . . . I'm kicking harder today . . . our extreme humidity has dropped about 35 to 40 percentage points since this morning and the relief is amazing. Couldn't ask for a nicer Canada Day. Hopefully it will continue until at least mid-week and I'll be able to get rid of some of this www. Hope the weather is nice where you are, too. Have a great long weekend. Keep moving and shaking and heading in the downward direction. See you soon. :carrot: hyacinth merry 07-01-2006, 05:02 PM Linda I learned from another friend today that it was Canada Day- so Happy Canada Day to you!! I hope it continues to be a nice day for the celebration :cheer: (I couldn't find a smilie for 'celebration' so a cheer will have to do!) For the month of July my goal is to lose 8 pounds (and I won't cry if it's more, btw) Hy Cheryl120 07-02-2006, 12:22 AM Linda...Happy Canada Day!!!! Glad you are starting to get cooler weather. Hope you see a big drop with the water weight. Hy...Good luck for the goal you set for yourself. Hope you are having a good weekend. Not much going on here. It hot, humid and storms are going to be coming through tonight. Got the side of my quilt I was working on done this afternoon. Only one more side to do and I will be done except for the french knots. Would you believe, I put the machine needle through my finger tip. Bled on my quilt, so I have that to try and get out tomorrow. I was in lala land, stressed out with the FD's that are both being pains and not paying attention to what I was doing. Hope to get the other side layed out and start sewing on it tomorrow after I get home from church. Cheryl meowee 07-02-2006, 10:58 AM Hi Chickies . . . definitely time for a new 'Summer Place' . . . see you soon . . .
