It's now official. Spring is here! :cheer: :sunny: :flow2: :sunny: :cheer:
Hershey and I slept a bit longer :) this morning so coffee will be on the deck while I do some straightening up of my kitchen. I have to do some special cooking this morning as dear Lucy is refusing to eat! This is a big problem as her pups are voracious eaters and she is already looking thin. She won't get out of the whelping box to eat, just to go out for a pee. Morna has been hand feeding her bits of chicken weiners (Yick!). This morning I'm going to make something tasty and tempting with ground beef, egg yolk, liver and cheese. (I bet that ruined your breakfast!) I sure as heck hope this works!
Yesterday was another busy day. Some friends dropped in after Church, we sat on the deck and sipped wine (!) with some cheese, crackers and veggies for lunch. The had their Basset with them and we really had a giggle over her. They are such silly and sad-looking dogs. After they left at 4:30, I managed an hour of garden work but the black flies were just terrible. :yikes:
What's happening on your part of the BEach? :cofdate:

I'm just getting ready to go to Curves. We had a busy weekend here, as well. We had a wonderful evening out on Friday, on Saturday the kids all came to celebrate with us, and yesterday we were busy working in the gardens most of the day. It sure wasn't a good OP weekend, though!
Time to go, I'll be back a little later to chat more.

God Monday morning. Back to the usual week after some business tis weekend. We decided not to spend a fortune and redo our basement this year. Sad because I was looking forward to it, relieved because now I'm not so worried about finances. Have not been doing so ggod staying OP. Hopefully this will be the day I stick to it. Going to curves today and also to the fruit and veggie store to stock up. Hope all have a beachy day!

Mornin' all. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Yesterday was busy. We had Confirmation for the 8th graders yesterday at church. Then, I had to come home and do some baking for our women's group Spring Tea (which is tonight). Will be rushing around right after work to get everything up to church and set up for the Tea.
Made a tough decision over the weekend, and decided to cancel my Curves membership. After the layoffs at work and the problems with the car, I need to start getting a better grip on some financial stuff. I haven't been getting up to Curves on a regular basis anymore. I have enough workout videos here at home to choke a horse, so I just need to get motivated to do my workouts here.
Ruth - Hope Lucy's special food does the trick for her. But personally, if someone offered me liver for breakfast, I'd probably run the other way! :lol3:
Cottage - Have a great workout! I'll miss the ladies at Curves. Hopefully I'll get back there someday soon.
Lindy - Sorry that you won't get to finish your basement, but this just gives you more time to plan out what you want, right? ;)
Have a great day!

Good Morning!!
:cp: PUPPIES!!!!!!!!!!
I've not been on here for awhile. Ruth, I hope Lucy eats and that all goes well! I bet they are SO CUTE!!
Wheezle: How was Casting Crowns? I have a cd of theirs and really enjoy their music.
Last Friday, My Father-in-law had to be rushed to the hospital and had an emergency appendectemy. He hasn't been allowed to come home yet. HIs blood pressure was low yesterday which they weren't sure why.
So, on Friday I had 2 extra kids all day. My boys didn't have school, so I had my 4 kids plus my neice to be and my nephew (my MIL usually has him).
It was a beautiful day outside and the kids played really well. I was able to spread all the mulch I wanted around front tree and plants.
I just haven't been able to stay on Plan since Easter. Since today is May 1, I only have 17 more days until my trip to Boston, MA to see my sister. SO, I think I have to go back on phase 1. Part of me just doesn't want to do it, I don't want to eat eggs! I am out of cheese sticks so have to make a trip to the store.
I just need to think about the results being worth the effort.
When RE-starting phase 1, after kind of falling off the wagon, should I expect a good weight loss ??

Mornin' chicks!
Ruth: Yuck! But Hopefully Lucy will like it. I can't wait to see pics of the little furbabies! I love puppies!!
Cottage: Just get back OP today. YOu've been doing so great so I'm sure this won't set you back too much. :)
Lindy: Sounds like you're on track for a good OP day. It's amazing how much better you feel without all that junk in your system. Hang in there, gal!!
Jana: I have these stability ball videos I really like them...when I do them which hasn't been for ages. If you find some motivation to work out at home send some my way, pretty please! :D
Samra: Hi, welcome! Yep, it's a very common side effect of P1. Eat your beans, 4 1/2 C of veggies a day, and take fiber supplements. Also be sure you're drinking enough water. I read somewhere that if you eat too much fiber without enough water to flush out your system it can be as bad or worse than not enough fiber. Drink up!
Schatzi: Whew, I felt the breeze from your little fly by :D ! Get your butt back here and entertain us with a Schatzi story! I almost got a Chateneuf-de-Pape yesterday but eneded up settling on this French Grenache/Shiraz mix from the Loire valley. Next time! I really do want to try that. What's your fav winery for that type?
Debbie: I'm doing another P1 and I feel great. I've been totally OP for about 4 days now. I haven't got on the scale since its still TOM and don't want to get discouraged but I feel really good. Less bloated even now. I'll weigh in next week and hopefully see a good loss. I think as long as you really watch your portions and eat OP food you should see a loss. Good luck!
Me, I've been doing more retail therapy. JCPenny's loves me! for some reasont he last few months I've been finding all sorts of cute stuff there. This month I've bought so many clothes and shoes I don't even recognize my wardrobe. But I did need spring/summer clothes so Idon't feel too terribly guilty. I found the cutest pair of mock snakeskin pumps, they're strappy and airy and will go perfect with 2 of the tops I found at TJMaxx...love that store too. The good thing is all my clothes and shoes were decent bargains. I even found a white lacy gauzy top at Walmart when I was there for househld stuff. It was the perfect white top I've been looking for for a while now and it was $13. I just hope it doesn't fall apart or change shape the first time I wash it. All this shopping was the perfect celebration of me being done with the semester! Yaayy!!
This weekend one of my bRATS, Theodore, chewed through the phone wire and I was out of commission almost 24 hours. The phone guy was nice enough even though he had to splice and dice wires in all sorts of weird complicated ways. I get my phone service through the cable company so it was a little more difficult but at least I have a phone now. No internet or phone for almost a whole day sucked!
Well, I'm off to eat some mock oatmeal then head to walmart for another baby gate. My dog figured out how to jump the current one I have up that supposed to keep her out of the cat's food! My furbabies are keeping me busy lately. I think she's been feeling neglected because she's been being very bratty lately. I've been giving here extra attention lately. Hopefully that will cheer her up. I'm also going to pick her up a new doggie bed at Walmart today. Bribes, yes but whatever works!
Have a great day, chickies!

Good morning, chicks. It is Day 1 of Phase 1 for me. This time around, I decided to actually read the South Beach book, and I think that will help me stay on track now that I actually understand what is happening in my body! I had a pre-start dinner of really bad foods...well, white pasta in real butter sauce! :o And then felt super guilty about all that real butter clogging my arteries. But it's too late now, and let the fat melting begin!! BYE BYE 16s!! I didn't miss you this winter and I won't miss you again once you are gone for good.
Nice to see y'all this morning. Anyone else starting P1 today?

I'm off to a good start. I did my workout at Curves then stopped off at the store for some veggies and they were having a good sale on chicken breasts, so I got a supply of them, too. I just finished making Souffle Stuffed Chicken for tonight's supper, and I made some Kale, Black Beans & Tomatoes w/ Chicken, and the Thai Chicken w/Spicy Peanut Sauce. So I'm set for a few days, anyway! I just finished eating a bowl of Mock Oatmeal so now I can sit for a moment and rest before I have to run and pick up the little ones. We're going to have a low-key day today, but I have to drop off some books at the library so we'll spend some time there. Other than that, there are no other plans for the day.

Happy May Day everyone!! I am new to this board, only posted since last week so you all don't know me.
My name is Debbie, I just turned 57, married 29 years. I live just south of Syracuse, NY. I never had much of a weight problem until I quit smoking at age 40. However, I was able to take off weight. Since January of 2005 when I had a bad allergic reaction and was put on prednisone for a month I cannot lose weight no matter what I do. It's very discouraging. My doctor actually suggested I try SB, up the protein, downplay the carbs. So here I am. And here's my problem.
okay, I'm on week 2 of Phas 1 and I have not dropped 1 lb. Anyone else ever have this problem? I'm not craving any bad foods. I am content staying on plan. I actually worked hard outside in the yard this weekend also. 1 person I complained to said maybe my body is just used to this calorie rate since I've been dieting forever, the other peson wondered if I was getting too much sodium with the turkey bacon and ff hotdog I had. I thought they were on plan.
Just wondered if anyone else had this problem and if so, how they fixed it. have a good day everyone the sun is out here, it's a miracle!!

good morning all -
I had such a busy weekend. On Saturday, DBF and I helped one of his friends move out. Then Sunday we helped another friend move into the apartment we had just moved out. But two free meals this weekend makes up for the work :D
We finally have our plane tickets to go visit DBF's mom at the end of the month in Colorado Springs. We will be moving out there in October and we are using this trip to look at apartments in his mom's building and check out the city. I'm very excited.
I plan to finally get back to the gym tomorrow. I was just too busy this weekend and we have tkts for a baseball game tonight. (GO CUBS!) I'll be curious to see my old friend the scale. I'm not sure how it will feel about seeing me :goodvibes
Hope everyone is having a good day! I have to get to a staff meeting.
  to all!

Hi Smokepole, I don't remember whether I welcomed you earlier, so if not, :wel3fc:
Congrats on making it through your first week of Phase 1! Don't get discouraged, you will probably see a significant loss by the end of your 2nd week. Just remember to eat at least 4 cups of veggies every day, and eat plenty of protein and legumes. And don't forget your water!
Enjoy your :sunny: day, we're having plenty of it today, too!

Morning girlies! Just want to pop in and say hi! Day 2 Ph 1 and so far, so good! Extremely busy here at work as it is my last week here. Whew! Hope all is well with everyone!
Anna, I'd be careful how loud I yell GO CUBS after yesterday and the day before. We throw things at the TV when they play like that (and the Bears, and the Bulls....) Usually it's a soft weiner dog toy, and one of the dogs will retrieve it for us so we can prepare for the next bad thing. That's the fun part about watching the games at Mom and Dad's.
GO CUBS!
Debbie, Casting Crowns was awesome, life-changing even. Squirted some gasoline on that little fire that was inside me and made it big again. It was incredible. This job-change is going to be SO GREAT! Lots of opportunity for spreading the word. Sad that there will be more opportunity for me at a video store than in the church, isn't it? Seems that's how things work here. It's ok though! I'm out of here Friday!
Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning, gals! Make sure you get your April Exercise logged today. I'll post the April Exercise Queen tomorrow.
Last night's dinner was good. I had pork tenderloin, rice, Kale with Black Bean and tomato (I used Rotel and added in some spinach) and salad. I've got leftovers so I'll see how the kale keeps. I also fixed lima beans for DH and Brian since they don't like the Kale and I don't like the lima beans. Tonight we are doing pita pizzas. Very quick dinner so I'll have lots of time to spend at the gym. I didn't get enough exercise in during April so I plan to hit the gym hard during May. Oh, I did check at Blood Care's website on my latest blood donation and my cholesterol was 167 and that was after eating dinner. I'm happy!

Hi everyone! I just got my computer back on. We are replacing our kitchen floor and the computer has had to be moved. It was in a corner, but I had to get it back out so that I could check on the chicks!
Thank you Schatzi for the link you posted on the fat/muscle stuff.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. It's nice to have a place to go for support and information. I just called my DH because the scale moved DOWN. Only l lb but I'll take it and pray it doesn't come back.
CCottage, I am thinking your way. I'll see a big change by Friday. :)

Hi Ladies:)
Thanks Ladies for all your support. We're really happy about whats happening also.
Had a early treatment appointment, was out of the center by 10 A.M. went to to BJ's to return something and buy a new DVD/VCR player as our other one broke, and it would be too expensive to fix it,so we decided to didge the old one.
Had a relaxing weekend, I didn't indudge into goodies :^O :^O hehe!!But I did the same with good foods. I have to learn how to portion control my meals. My plate is looking like a serving plate, instead of a danty pette one.
Using a new food journal, its a little larger than the one I was using. Going to plan my snacks in the evening instead of grabbing anything I see in the kitchen.
Hugs :) BB

Congratulations to all who made it through the weekend unscathed. :bravo: To those who are starting over or just starting :carrot: :goodluck:
Ruth, I have a recipe for a doggy meatloaf that works well for picky moms too so I will send that to you if you would like it. The new puppies love it when they start eating too, has liver, kidney, heart, tomato juice, oatmeal, probably some other good sounding things too. :yikes:
Had an interesting weekend. We have some things going on with mil and where she is living so we brought her here a few weeks ago and let her go visit the sibling she was living with. There is a cleanliness issue at the other place so this week (we gave her some time to make improvements but nothing has happened) we are not letting her go so the s*** will hit the fan mid-week. Mil will be mad at us and so will the sibling. Gotta love family right.
Did goof up the eating yesterday evening but feeling fine this a.m. so just continued on with PI with scrambled eggs and V-8 juice. Nuts for a snack. Everyone have a great OP day. :beach:
