I found a few links

HERE (http://www.nbc5i.com/health/8504895/detail.html), HERE (http://www.49abcnews.com/news/2006/apr/04/group_requests_sweetener_be_pulled_side_effects/), and HERE (http://www.truthaboutsplenda.com/)

But nothing that says they are actually pulling it...

I really hope they don't... I love splenda!

From what I've read, it's just one group saying it should be pulled. I use two or three packets a day, and I haven't experienced any side effects.

Has anyone ever used Splenda in a Koolaid mix? I tried Sweet n Low, which I use in my coffee, but it tasted horrible!

Hi, you know, I did a search on Aspartame vs. Splenda over the weekend and I may be swearing off artificial sweeteners forever. It was really depressing. BJF

No, they have the plain that you add sugar to it. and also already sweetend with sugar and sugar free. I love black cherry and they have the packet, but none with the sugar free. So, I'd like to sweeten it, but Sweet n Low just was horrible in it!

Splenda is great in the 'drink' packages.

I don't see them pulling Splenda at all. There is but 1 small group that is being pushed by either Sweet'n'Low or Sacchrine producers.

I have never tried splenda in koolaid but I think there is a BIG difference between splenda and sweet and low. I would try it. Crystal Light has a rasberry ice drink that reminds me of koolaid. I love it. It has the flavor and sweetness that alot of their other flavors don't have.

Splenda Kool-Aid works REALLY well, actually. Just buy the box of granulated splenda and you're ready to go. Its great if you're craving sweet, not-bubbly drinks...its a staple for me.

Wanted to add - they aren't going to pull splenda based on a few complaints of headaches/nausea. I get the same thing REALLY badly from sweet n low and equal, actually - very very sick from either one - and splenda has none of the same effects. Some people are sensitive to certain things - that doesn't mean they have to pull the thing (people are sensitive or allergic to peanuts, wheat, lactose, etc. etc., but most people can use them just fine).

Thanks Mandalinn,
I'll try the Splenda. I have a box in the cupboard, but after the disaster with the Sweet n Low, I was reluctant to try it. I do love the Sugar free Koolaid. I'm not a great water drinker, but I can drink 2 quart of Koolaid easily. I don't care for the flavored waters. I was trying to pull away from drinking so much diet coke and getting more water in. Thanks for the tip.
I think you are right about people having different tolerances and get sick from different things. I don't think they will pull it either.

Oh, by the way, how much do you usually put in a 2 quart container. I'll add or delete depending on my taste, I'd just like a starting point, Thanks

Well, the granulated splenda supposedly measures cup for cup like sugar, but I personally think the original kool-aid recipe was just a little too sweet (it had a cup of sugar in the pitcher!). I usually do 3/4 c. of splenda at most, its still PLENTY sweet. If you go through it quickly, I sometimes add some sparkling or mineral water instead of the regular water for a soda-like treat.

adding sparkling water is a great idea I may just have to try that. Thanks for the idea

i just received this from splenda:

The safety of sucralose is well documented in more than 100 scientific studies conducted over a 20-year period. In addition, sucralose and, specifically, the safety data on sucralose, has been reviewed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other national regulatory agencies, as well as by international health authorities such as the World Health Organization, and found to be safe for use by all consumers, including children, pregnant women and people with diabetes.

Sucralose has been available in international markets for more than 13 years. The FDA first approved the use of sucralose as a nonnutritive sweetener in 1998 and expanded this approval in 1999. Currently, sucralose is permitted for use in over 80 countries and it has never been required to carry any safety information or warning statements on its labeling.

The recent press conference by competitors is the latest effort to make false and misleading statements designed to injure the reputation and goodwill of the SPLENDA® Brand and our company. These inaccuracies about the SPLENDA® Sweetener Products are a great disservice to the millions of consumers who safely use and enjoy the products every day.

I live in NYC and I heard this about 3 weeks ago, however they ha vent pulled it yet. It makes you wonder what is going on.
As much as i would love to use this Artificial sweetener; I think I will rethink it and just maybe use honey to sweeten things or unrefined sugar, at least I wont be left guessing if it is healthy.

But just remember; to much of ANYTHING is not healthy.
