Exercise! - Exercise Accountability for May

View Full Version : Exercise Accountability for May

04-30-2006, 04:31 PM
I'm slipping ahead of Ilene to start May's thread because I have a goal for May. It's going to be busy with the wedding in the middle but I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to (using my handy new hrm) get my heart rate over 100 for 20 minutes, 6 days a week. Everybody has 20 minutes don't they?

I fully expect to have most of my plans rearranged by life and it's circumstances most days up until the wedding. Dinners, shopping, running errands ... you name it. So while my diet and weights may take a back seat, surely I can do this other little thing almost every day, right?

05-01-2006, 12:25 PM
Susan- I am right there with you! 20 min daily sounds like a great plan! I have a busy month ahead of me myself, but i will do the workout and the days that i dont i will make up for it the next day!

That means that we have 620min for the month! Lets see how fast we can reach out goal!!!!

I will keep you posted tomorrow! I am planning to do my 20min tonight on my gazelle!!!

05-01-2006, 01:31 PM
My goal for the month - do my standard hour and fifteen minute long cardio/stability workout at least 25 days of this month - and add on at least 10 arm and 5 leg workouts onto that. And if I still have time, 100 crunches a day.

I'm on track for today - cardio and stability/resistance are done. Lunch will be an arm workout and crunches...I also committed myself to the 200 jumping jacks a day challenge...so will do those before bed.

05-01-2006, 01:40 PM
mandalinn- Wow...thats a lot of work out!!! Are you dieting to??? If you are which plan are you using?

05-01-2006, 01:57 PM
I am an avid calorie counter, and usually end up at about 1500 per day, and I try to aim for a good balance of carb to protein (around 35% of cals from protein, 45% from carb, and 20% from fat) and try to hit vitamin and mineral targets when possible. Its mostly - eat the best foods i can, while also keeping calories low enough to lose weight in a healthy way.

As for it being a lot of exercise, its really not so bad. I work from home, so it takes me less time to fit in a workout and I don't have a commute so I have extra morning time for the morning hour 15 min workout. I take 20 minutes of my hour lunch to do a quick arm or leg workout about every other day - leaving 40 minutes to eat, run errands, etc - and I usually do the crunches while I watch TV at night, so it all fits in. The jumping jacks are the only addition - but I can't resist a challenge.

05-01-2006, 02:12 PM
Mandalinn_ I must say...You are GREAT! I am such an lazy a$$ and I am really proud of you fitting all of those workouts in your schedule!!! You GO GIRL!

05-01-2006, 02:19 PM
Aww, thanks! My default is definitely being lazy, so I understand - its really hard to overcome that. I'd be MUCH worse if I had no time in the morning for the workout - once I am done with work I'd much rather be all done and be able to relax for the evening, so I'm horrible at working out in the PM - if I miss my morning, I tend to have a lazy, lazy day.

05-01-2006, 08:23 PM
There's my 20 for today. I hoofed it up and down the road and then hefted some weights around to finish off my time. My big victory is that I worked today too. I'm a bit of a slouch about that. That's a good way to start the month.

05-02-2006, 01:33 PM
Done - 35 min cardio, 45 min stability and resistance and 100 jumping jacks.
To follow - Leg workout, 100 crunches, 100 more jumping jacks.

05-03-2006, 12:51 PM
Done - 35 min cardio, 45 min stability and resistance, 50 crunches, and 100 jumping jacks.
On my lunch - the remaining 100 jumping jacks, 50 more crunches, arm workout.

05-03-2006, 01:38 PM
Joining up to be accountable! My May goal is to hit the spinning class AT LEAST 5 times a week. And to do 3 bodyPUMP classes, no more and no less.

So far May is shaping up great. Monday it was spin then bodyPUMP, and then last night it was 2 spinning class in a row (woo!).

05-03-2006, 03:25 PM
I am done for the day (except, of course, any dancing that may occur at the farmers market tonight to the live bands that play on Wednesdays - picnic with the girls, should be fun). My tracking calendar is full of the little symbols I use to mark my workouts - today I have 5 - cardio, arms, stability, crunches, and jumping jacks!

In addition, I'm a little ahead of schedule on my "1800 minutes in May" - we're only 10% of the way into the month and I've done 15% of my minutes.

05-03-2006, 03:49 PM
Mandalin- as always you are doing GREATTTTT!!!!
Harry- You go girl! Great work out!

I am not being very good this week. Its not easy to work full time, go to school full time, being in the middle of my finals..deal with a DH and workout...

05-03-2006, 05:44 PM
I am not being very good this week. Its not easy to work full time, go to school full time, being in the middle of my finals..deal with a DH and workout...

There were actually two girls in the spin room before the class started with their books all spread out on the floor. :) The made it through the class but they both had that glazed "students in finals" look.

05-03-2006, 05:55 PM
I am going to give this a try for this month. It is going to be tuff! It was easy to do my exercise last month because my boyfriend worked evenings. But now he will be home at nights and it will be easier for me to skip out!

So here is my plan:

*at least 30 min on my treadmill at least 5 days a week. At least 20 of those min jogging.
*do my pilates or ball work out dvd at least 3 days a week (takes 30-50 min)
*I also signed up for 200 jumping jacks, after that is over I will do 200 crunches or something else for a week and mix it up, do that 6 days a week
*allow myself one break day every week

05-03-2006, 09:37 PM
I am going to start posting my exercise here also. My goal is to do at least 4 days a week at least 30 minutes at a time. If I do more than that, even better!

May 1 Walked dog 20 minutes, Treadmill 20 minutes, Stationary bike 10 minutes
May 2 Walked dog 30 minutes
May 3 Aerobics 62 minutes, Stationary bike 10 minutes

05-03-2006, 10:52 PM
Okay, today it was an hour spinning class (45mins of working songs, 15mins of warm up/cool down) and an hour of bodyPUMP. :) 4 out of 5 spinning classes for the week down.

05-03-2006, 11:51 PM
So I just did my 41 min pilates video and my 200 jumping jacks. Just enjoying my dinner (a nice salad) and in about an hour - an hour and a half I will do my jogging. I normally do it first but it requires a shower after and I went tanning tonight and didnt want to shower too soon after!

05-04-2006, 10:24 AM
I did 20 min of mildly walking yesterday!!!! So i have 600 min to go for my MAY's goal!

05-04-2006, 11:20 AM
Finally, I got another stint in! Biking got my heart rate up for 22 minutes.

05-04-2006, 12:20 PM
I'm new over in your forum, I hope it's ok that I join you! :)

My goal for May is to hit the pool and swim laps for 18 days.

5/1 - swam 10 lengths of the pool
5/2 - swam 14 lengths of the pool
5/3 - swam 16 lengths of the pool

05-04-2006, 12:58 PM
Feeling like every muscle in my body hurts today...still, did my cardio and stability for a total of 75 min. Will do my 100 crunches and 200 jumping jacks later, as soon as the tylenol starts kicking in...

05-04-2006, 01:29 PM
Feeling like every muscle in my body hurts today

I am with yah on that one! Worked myself too hard yesterday!

05-04-2006, 04:55 PM
I swam 18 legnths of the pool today. :)

05-04-2006, 05:39 PM
Swimming sounds heavenly! Yarn, myholidayboyz? Knit? Crochet? I've been working on the same afghan for about ... 17 months I think :)

05-04-2006, 05:40 PM
I guess I coulda called you Barb :)

05-04-2006, 06:56 PM
My goal is 30 mins on the elliptical 6 days a week...

05-04-2006, 08:27 PM
Hey Newbies Newbies every where

Today I ran 10k... it was soooo windy that I felt sometimes like I was running in place!!

05-04-2006, 10:08 PM
Hi Ilene -

Good for you. I hate being out in the wind - bothers my ears for some reason.

I've been on a roll this week.

Monday: UBWO plus elliptical
Tuesday: Spinning class - OUCH!
Wednesday: Walking outdoors (~3.5 mph) 3.5 miles
Thursday: BodyPump class - OUCH again, my poor legs have just about recovered from Tuesday.

Friday will be the best day - REST!! :D

05-05-2006, 01:05 AM
My goal is to have bangs as cool as lottie63's! :) Seriously, they're awesome!

Today was an hour spinning class with Jamie, which means 50 minutes of working songs and 10 mintues of warm up/cool down.

I actually wasn't going to go to the gym. I almost went and took a nap. Then I remembered that I wouldn't be able to post here for my accountability, so up I got and off I went! :) You guys are the awesomestesses.

05-05-2006, 01:12 AM
harry: hahaha, thanks so much! and good job on working out! :) Keep on it!

05-05-2006, 01:27 AM
SOOO today-

I spent 40 min on the treadmill. 14 walking and 26 jogging.
I did about 45-50 pilates dvd.
and then I did my 200 jumping jacks

phew - now im ready for bed!

05-05-2006, 11:55 AM
Hi Susan,

I knit. :) Not as much as I should be judging by my yarn stash. ;) I do know how to crochet, but not very well. I think one of these days I'd like to take a crochet class.

05-05-2006, 12:30 PM
-- biked to and from the gym -- 5k
-- worked UB 50 mins
-- ran hills 30 mins on the treadmill

05-05-2006, 12:44 PM
So far today: 35 cardio, 40 resistance/stability, 50 of my 100 crunches and 50 of my 200 jumping jacks...

To follow - 150 more jumping jacks, 50 more crunches, and a 20 min. upper body strength session.

05-05-2006, 04:39 PM
Jumping jacks, crunches, and arm workout are complete.

Might go swimming tonight if I can talk someone into going with me - I'm not a lap swimmer, but you burn a surprising number of calories just splashing around, and its getting to summer-like temps here.

05-05-2006, 08:48 PM
Heart rate over 100 for 27 minutes today. Some on my bike and some with weights and hopping in between to keep it up there.
I'm being a bit Freudian about adding up how many minutes I've done and how many I'm going to have to do. I missed a few days so ... I'll get at it soon. I promise ;)

05-06-2006, 01:26 AM
40 min on treadmill (25 jogging)
20 min pilates dvd
200 jumping jacks
and then I cleaned the house (does that count? haha)

05-06-2006, 02:59 AM
Well...I didn't get to the gym today because of a scheduling conflict. But I did meet my goal of 5 spinning classes this week, so I guess I didn't do too badly.

05-06-2006, 11:46 AM
Counting today I managed to go 30 mins all six days this week! wooo! :)

05-06-2006, 04:46 PM
After walking to and from the farmer's market this morning, came home and did my 35 min rebounder cardio, 40 minutes of stability/resistance, and 100 crunches.

Still due to complete my 200 jumping jacks (who knew how HARD these would be??)

05-06-2006, 08:34 PM
40 minutes today. It took afew minutes to get my HR up but once it was about 112, I was good to go.
I also got around to the math. I found a tracker for that. It's kinda fun :)

05-07-2006, 09:29 PM
Did something a little different today - went to a lake, rented a paddleboat, and paddled my butt off for an hour and a half. I am counting this as a cardio and a leg workout, because let me tell you, I was feeling the burn...

Gorgeous, though. Beautiful, sunny day. Glad I remembered the sunscreen!

05-08-2006, 12:40 PM
Done - stability, cardio rebounder, and crunches.

Probably will do an arm workout on my lunch.

05-08-2006, 02:59 PM
Manda -- The pedal boat sounds like fun...

Today I biked around then to the gym, visited my mom too... for a total of 12k...

Tonight I just may go biking again... It's just so gorgeous here...

05-09-2006, 12:24 AM
1 hour spinning class followed by BodyPUMP. That's one spin class down for the week, 4 more to go :)

05-09-2006, 12:26 AM
Biked another 15k tonight with my g/f... for a total of 27k...

05-09-2006, 12:28 PM
Cardio and Stability this morning, plus crunches - done.

5,000 of my 10,000 steps - done.

Arm workout that I failed to do yesterday I will do today on my lunch. Ran out of time - not beating myself up over it, but it WILL get done today.

05-09-2006, 01:19 PM
opps haven't been here for a couple days, but I have been getting in lots of exercise!! woohoo! Yesterday I got in SOO much so today I am taking a break!

05-09-2006, 07:52 PM
Today got in 10k run...

05-09-2006, 08:20 PM
Got in the arm workout - good to do, because I've been a bit off track in doing them. Legs tomorrow :-)

05-09-2006, 09:51 PM
May 8 Treadmill 30 minutes
May 9 Treadmill 30 minutes, Stationary bike 10 minutes

05-09-2006, 11:12 PM
I guess part of accountability is accounting for slacking. I didn't do any exercise today. Mostly because of the tornado warning, but I could have come up with something. Blah.

05-10-2006, 12:53 PM
Did my cardio and stability this morning, plus my 100 crunches. Hopefully I'll get in a leg workout on my lunch (this is the plan), but added some extra leg work to my workout this morning just in case I run out of time.

05-10-2006, 02:28 PM
Aerobics 26 minutes, Treadmill 12 minutes, Stationary bike 10 minutes
Total for today 48 minutes

05-10-2006, 02:33 PM
Did my leg workout - whoo hoo! I have a feeling I'm going to feel it tomorrow.

my total for today was about an hour and a 40 minutes.

05-10-2006, 04:07 PM
Made it to the gym and did some back exercises, I wanted to do biceps but for some reason my elbow hurts  ... Then I did some hills, 5k... Tonight is swim night too... It's all good... PLUS it's a gorgeous day!!

05-11-2006, 12:57 AM
Well, that's it...the world hates me. I must have some bad karma built up from something somewhere. I pulled a muscle in my back last night (doing nothing interesting, of course ;) ) so no exercise for me until it heals. *sob*

And I was doing really well!

05-11-2006, 01:48 AM
You'll get back on track, harrypotterbarn, but you need time to heal! Listen to your body and get back on plan with your exercise when you feel ready! These things happen to everyone - the main thing is to get back on when you can.

Decided to go for a swim this eve, so did 40 min of that. Not too shabby for today!

05-11-2006, 12:52 PM
Did my stability/rebounder/100 crunches this morning - 70 min. total.

I think I'm done for the day. Yesterday evening my friend needed me to go with him to Ikea (LOL - He had never been and was afraid he would be "totally overwhelmed" - which I can absolutely see happening!). Well, clumsy me, I totally fell down on the stairs (there was a slippery spot) and wrenched my ankle. Thought it was OK, but the rebounder made it hurt like mad even though I had wrapped it, so i'm thinking very mild sprain or just a hard knock to a bone. Annoying, though. Think I will compress/elevate/ice today and see if it improves.

My friend is a law student - he started analyzing whether Ikea was at fault for my fall. Apparently, the answer is no - I'm just a clumsy oaf :-). Which, of course, was what I told him all along.

05-12-2006, 12:52 AM
Well, back or no back I did do 30 minutes on my elliptical this evening. It wasn't the most intense workout I've ever had, but every little bit counts, right? :)

05-12-2006, 12:57 PM
Crunches, cardio, and stability ball this morning - 65 min total.

Arm workout to follow this afternoon - 20 min.

05-12-2006, 01:20 PM
my knees are sore so I havent been exercising :(

05-12-2006, 03:21 PM
Arms done. I keep a calendar of all of my workouts - one little symbol for doing my cardio, one for my abs, one for the stability ball and resistance stuff, one for arms, one for legs...and every day has at least two symbols on it for EVERY day in May (and every day has cardio). Looking at it makes me really proud of me for my hard work so far this month.

05-15-2006, 01:19 PM
Everyone in here have been working out like crazy!
I am sooo jealous!

I have 580 min left from the 620 min montly goal! I am getting there slowly but surely!

The gym is waiting for me tonight... i am planning to do at least 45min!

05-15-2006, 01:31 PM
Odd but active weekend - went canoeing for an hour on Saturday morning. Sunday I was at my parents house, and we were cutting down / hauling away a tree in my neighbors yard that fell during some storms this winter, because my neighbors don't have a chainsaw to do it themselves and my parents are pretty good neighbors - anyway, I spent 2 hours hauling branches, logs, and other assorted tree debris up and down two flights of stairs.

This morning, did my 35 min cardio, 40 min stability ball workout, along with my 100 crunches.

05-15-2006, 01:31 PM
I did get a walk in and changed my ticker yesterday. I'll see what I can do about moving it again today. I'm finding the ticker pretty motivational. I like to change it. It's even getting kinda close to half way!

05-15-2006, 05:41 PM
:cp: Yay girls let's keep moving ... Today I did 60 mins of legs!!

05-15-2006, 09:38 PM
Walked at mall 30 minutes

05-16-2006, 08:51 AM
More walking and a little bit of weights for back. I have that post traumatic neck/shoulder/head ache thing going on :) So I wanted to try something relaxing. It must have worked. I feel pretty good this morning.

05-16-2006, 09:40 AM
I walked one hour yesterday...

620 Min goal for May with 520 Min to go...

05-16-2006, 12:42 PM
Cardio + crunches + stability/resistance - 75 minutes.

Hope to get in an arm workout later today, but may be way short on time so may have to delay until tomorrow.

05-16-2006, 11:18 PM
I just got over half way today! Which is not bad considering it's the 16th.

05-17-2006, 12:22 AM
Walked dog 21 minutes

05-17-2006, 12:27 AM
10k run

05-17-2006, 01:16 AM
Yay! I finally have exercise to account for! I did an hour spinning class with the new teacher who's really really tough.

05-17-2006, 09:12 AM
There's Margaret! I was posting yesterday and noticed you were missing. It's good to see you back.

05-17-2006, 12:36 PM
Upped my cardio to 40 minutes today, plus my 40 min. stability ball routine, and 100 crunches.

I am GOING to do my arm workout today - yesterday WAS busy but today I am going to make the time.

05-17-2006, 03:40 PM
- back workout :strong:
- 30 mins hill jogging on dreadmill :tread:
- swimming 1 hour

05-17-2006, 03:59 PM
There's Margaret! I was posting yesterday and noticed you were missing. It's good to see you back.

I know it sounds kind of stupid, but you have no idea how nice it feels to be told that I was missed by someone. :) Just one of those things, I guess.

05-17-2006, 04:16 PM
The posters on 3fc have eagle eyes, Margaret. You can't get away with much :)

Today I biked (in my new helmet) lifted for legs and then bounced around to keep my heart rate up for 50 minutes altogether. Feels good!

05-17-2006, 08:15 PM
FINALLY got the arms in - despite being insanely busy. Plus I cleaned house for 2.5 hours, which fitday said was some ridiculous amount of calories...but all in all, a good activity day.

05-18-2006, 12:55 PM
This morning - 40 minutes of cardio. I mixed up my intervals on the rebounder - before I was doing 1 min at max speed and 2 min at moderate, switched to 2 min. max speed and 3 moderate - felt like it worked well, so I'm going to stick with it.

Also did my stability ball and 100 crunches.

Hopefully will get in a leg workout on my lunch.

05-18-2006, 02:56 PM
Legs are done. Yay!

05-18-2006, 08:43 PM
Today I did 30 minutes but after dinner I was bored so I did 40 more .... and I did chest and triceps!

05-18-2006, 09:23 PM
Benchstepping class 35 minutes, Stationary bike 10 minutes

05-19-2006, 12:00 AM
50 mins chest
10k run

 I feel good!!

05-19-2006, 01:14 PM
Did my 40 min cardio with the upped intervals, plus the stability ball and crunches.

No legs/arms today - going to go give blood.

05-20-2006, 02:39 AM
Woot! An hour of BodyPUMP and an hour of spinning! :)

05-20-2006, 08:56 AM
Oh I'm behind here ... I think I did 45 minutes of cardio yesterday and shoulders and abs.

05-20-2006, 06:36 PM
Today had planned to go canoeing, but the weather didn't agree...so I came home and worked my butt off.

Did a 20 min. "Lite and Fit" workout that consisted mostly of yoga-type moves and a few arm exercises with weights, and a 13 min quick pilates video.

Decided that wasn't enough, went to the gym at my apartment complex - 25 min stationary bike at high speed, 20 min on stairclimber sweating my little heart out, and 35 min or so doing arm/leg exercises on the weight machine.

This got me within 25 minutes of my May exercise goal...guess I underestimated? (Well, I know why I estimated the way I did, was supposed to be out of town on business next week but that was cancelled, so I was planning on not being able to do my regular routine but i'll be able to.)

05-20-2006, 08:23 PM
I'm having one of those carry on days too! I biked this morning, did aerobics this afternoon and just came in from the garden. I can't believe I'll be able to watch TV from now til bed without doing some kind of weights.
But I'm starving!!!!

05-20-2006, 09:43 PM
Walked at mall 30 minutes

05-21-2006, 02:25 AM
Well, it's not really formal exercise, but my friends and I spent the entire day (from 10-6) at a local Renaissance Festival and I was actively walking for at least 6 of those hours. Talk about blisters! :)

05-21-2006, 06:53 PM
Margaret - I consider that exercise for sure ...

I, on the other hand did NADA today!!

05-21-2006, 10:18 PM
That's the best kind of exercise. Fun and with friends.

55 minutes for me today ... all indoors ... dratted rain!

05-22-2006, 12:36 PM
I took yesterday off too...my first day off in all of May. And I did spend 2.5 hours walking around a mall, and another 30 min grocery shopping...

This morning did my stability ball and cardio, plus 100 crunches.

05-22-2006, 12:59 PM
Today I ran 5k and did legs too....

05-22-2006, 02:09 PM
45 minutes of bouncy aerobics with legs in between. I wanted tired legs ... I got 'em!

05-23-2006, 12:12 AM
Treadmill 35 minutes, Walked dog 20 minutes

05-23-2006, 12:46 AM
The usual hour spinning class then hour of BodyPUMP today. Whew!

05-23-2006, 01:00 PM
Got a burst of energy last night (and a new set of hand dumbbells) so I did a pretty intense arm workout and another 100 crunches.

This morning - stability ball, 40 min heavy-duty on the rebounder, and 100 crunches.

05-23-2006, 01:16 PM
20 minutes just cardio (video)
40 minutes doing weights, squats, lunges etc. to music

60 mins total

05-23-2006, 01:17 PM

What is a rebounder?

05-23-2006, 01:42 PM
Rebounder = mini trampoline. I jog on mine, going 2 min as fast as I can and 3 at about the speed you'd go if jogging. There was a thread about rebounders here: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81791&highlight=urban+rebounder

If I push myself hard on the rebounder, I go much faster during the 3 min recovery, and literally go all out on the 2 min where I go high speed, getting my heart rate up to 170 or so (85% of max). Most days, I keep between 140-160, which is approx 60-75% of my max.

05-23-2006, 02:33 PM
I have 400 workout min to go and only 9 days to get it done! Therefore I need to workout 45min daily to meet my goal! I bought a bike so mom and I are going to do it tonight for about an hour and on thursday for just as long if not longer!

Good job on the work out girls!

Question: What is the best ab workout there is? On the floor or on the yoga ball???? How many should I do to get good results?

05-23-2006, 02:51 PM
My ticker ran out. I guess that means that I can do 20 minutes of cardio a day. So I'm going to delete that ticker but it was very motivational so if I need it, I'll get a new one.

Abs Rebeca? ... I don't know what's best. That's probably one of those "which ever one you like and will do" questions. I do all kinds of things for abs. I think I stole some from a pilates video. I probably got some off exrx.com (it might be exrx.net) and www.stumptuous.com and from 3fc.

05-23-2006, 08:26 PM
REbecca -- The best ab workouts are, like Susan said, the ones you like... But change is good so do some that you don't like too you'll get better results by changing your workout every few weeks......

05-24-2006, 02:38 AM
SusanB - my ticker ran out too! I thought about adjusting my goal, and prob will - but I want to look at it all full for a couple more days.

Tonight went and played in the pool for 45 min, kept moving the whole time. According to FitDay, this is "Swimming, leisurely, not laps" and I burned almost 300 calories. Is this possible? Do I count the 45 min as exercise, or just call it something fun that I did which might have burned a few?

Seems like too much fun to count the minutes. :-)

05-24-2006, 09:16 AM
That's really important for us to remember Mandalinn ... exercise doesn't have to formal or gruelling. It can be a fun activity. If I'm not sure if I really 'put out' for the entire time, I just adjust the time a little shorter. But even breathing just standing in chest deep water uses more calories, doesn't it?

05-24-2006, 09:45 AM
Mandalinn -- Every minute counts

Todays exercise menu -- bike , chest , run hills .....

05-24-2006, 09:55 AM
Ilene? Are you right there? I'm going to PM you about a thread idea?

05-24-2006, 12:49 PM
I'm counting it - especially since I feel it in my arms today. Amazing how turning into a 6 year old in the pool (think somersaults and handstands) can do so much for the arm muscles! And I know I was moving the entire time - I can't stand still in a pool, it makes me feel like a mermaid.

This morning - 30 min stability ball, 40 min cardio on the rebounder, and 100 crunches.

05-24-2006, 01:47 PM
I did 50 min of biciclying last night! IT was fun but my toosh is kind of sore today! I have 350 May minutes to go!

Thanks for answering my abs question!

05-24-2006, 03:16 PM
Its another one of those days where I just want to keep doing other things. did a 20 min yoga/pilates (OW) and a 15 min ab program.

05-24-2006, 03:31 PM
Oh dear! All I've done is bike and tried to have a nap ... dratted telephone!
Hmmm ... let me see ... what else will I do?

05-24-2006, 03:35 PM
So I disappeared from this :( I have been exercising an hour everyday though :) I will join back in next month and just set myself a certain amount of minutes I want to do :)

05-24-2006, 09:24 PM
The usual hour of spinning and hour of BodyPUMP down!

05-24-2006, 09:33 PM
Aerobics/Body Sculpt class 59 minutes, Stationary bike 10 minutes

05-24-2006, 11:54 PM

05-25-2006, 11:18 AM
60 min of bike and 50 abs

400 abs to go for my may goal (500)

05-25-2006, 01:04 PM
Cardio, stability ball, and crunches done this morning. Despite having a -very- slow start. Ever have one of those days, where everything just seems to take longer to get done? We call them "slow starts", and today was DEFINITELY one of them.

70 min of exercise nonetheless.

05-25-2006, 01:33 PM
Mandalinn -- YES, I certainly was getting slow starts when we were getting all the rain, I feel much better now...

Today I did back and biked 17k...

05-25-2006, 08:30 PM
250 min to go for May Goal 20 Min of threadmill... 8 running

05-25-2006, 09:52 PM
Added a 20 min ab workout (and changed my ticker goal from 30 hours of exercise this month to 40).

05-26-2006, 09:18 AM
Good morning everyone! All I got done yesterday was about 20 minutes of aerobics. I had a sort of 'scurrying here and there' day. That's unsettling, isn't it?
But I suppose if the original plan was 20 minutes per day, then ....

Actually, I came back to say something. I started May kinda dragggin' but it really has helped me to have this thread.

05-26-2006, 12:32 PM
Did my cardio/stability ball/crunches bit. Added a couple of new exercises/harder modifications to the exercises I did on the ball - I can definitely feel it in my behind.

On the not-so-good-news side, I dropped a 10 lb. hand weight on my baby toe. I think I may have broken it. Not so good.

05-27-2006, 11:31 AM
Mandalinn ... your poor little toe. Is it amazing colours today?

I biked this morning, with my HRM and fooled a bit with intensity spurts ... is that cycling cycling? Was a bit wobbly when I got back home :)

05-27-2006, 02:32 PM
Ouch! Poor little toe.

Yesterday I had to skip the gym because of a stupid meeting that ran long (it also ran pointless *sigh*) so all I could do was 30 mins on the eliptical in the living room. But every little bit counts!

05-27-2006, 09:48 PM
Walked at mall 30 minutes

05-31-2006, 12:59 AM
Okay, back to the routine! Today was 30 mins of spinning, 30 mins of light cycling (the instructor had to leave early, but I stayed and cycled on my own), and 1 hour of BodyPUMP.

05-31-2006, 09:29 AM
I turn on the computer and here are you guys, reminding me that I've done NOTHING useful for DAYS! I'd better get at it here today. I guess that's what accountability is about :D

05-31-2006, 09:52 AM

Today I will bike to the gym, do arms, do some running on the dreadmill :tread: .....

05-31-2006, 09:57 AM
Is it muggy your way Ilene? We had enormous thunder and lightening at about 5:30 this am, now the sun is out and it's sweltery!

Thanks for the boost. I'm looking forward to today really. I have mountains of laundry so my day is compartmentized into 45 or 40 minute segments ;) I should be able to plan my eating and exercise within that framework.

05-31-2006, 10:01 AM
Good Morning! Sounds like everyone is having great workouts!

Get out there and sweat it off Susan- Even with the laundry!

I got 90 min of exercise since yesterday! 20 min threadmill 10streching (includes 50 crunches) with yoga ball and 60 aerobics this morning!

100 to go for my 620 min for May
270 abs to go! for mays goal!

05-31-2006, 10:18 AM
We'll call it laundry circuits:)

05-31-2006, 12:31 PM
Was away from computer for entire long holiday weekend, but was pretty active the whole time - Saturday I did my regular routine (brought my ball with me to my parents house) - 40 min cardio, 35 min stability ball. Sunday went fishing for the entire day - now, that sounds like a lot of sitting, but we were on a very steep slope, and I set myself up so that every time I needed new bait, I had to climb it...not to mention the AMAZING tricep workout that is casting a fishing line and the core work from sitting upright on that slope. So I actually ended up way MORE tired from 10 hours of fishing than from an hour of cardio.

Then I got really sick (we think it was heat exhaustion) and took Monday and Tuesday off - but was back on track today with my stability ball/cardio/abs routine.

05-31-2006, 01:44 PM
Sorry to hear you were sick Mandalinn, but happy to hear you are feeling better...

Susan, YES it's extremely hot here but we didn't get any thunderstorms yet...

This morning I biked to the gym 2.5k did the dreadmill :tread: for 5k, then did arms (30 mins), it was so nice out I did another 18k on my bike... I feel good and thank gawd for AC...

05-31-2006, 03:08 PM
My laundry circuits were interrupted by a notice that said we had a parcel at the post office. I did not hesitate to jump in my car (with AC) and go get it.

I did bike and it was very pleasant but I think we're under a t-storm watch or warning or something.

05-31-2006, 03:55 PM
Trying to meet all my May exercise goals in one lunch break - I was one arm workout and 200 crunches short, so I did them both. I may do another stability ball session tonight, but I'm thinking being one short on one of my goals is acceptable to me. Still, it'd be nice to know that I met ALL goals, so it may happen.

Totals for the month:
Cardio workouts >30 min - 29 (goal = 25)
Stability Ball or Resistance Sessions - 24 (goal = 25)
Upper Body Workouts - 10 (goal = 10)
Lower Body Workouts - 6 (goal = 5)
Sets of 100 Crunches - 25 (goal = 25)
Exercise Minutes: 2470 (initial goal = 1800 min, revised goal = 2400 min)

05-31-2006, 09:45 PM
Aerobics/Body Sculpt class 70 minutes

06-01-2006, 12:19 AM
Didn't come anywhere near my goals for the month, but at least I made it to an hour spinning class and BodyPUMP today. Ah well, next month: more realistic goals!!
