Default Discouraging

I know I shouldn't complain because a lot of people would like to be where I am today and I really honestly respect that..but...

I'm getting so discouraged. I have been on a plateau for the past 4 weeks and it's starting to make me wonder if I'll ever reach my goal. I have about 15 lbs more to lose and the scale is not moving down. Granted it's not moving up either but I really want it to move.

I know I may sound selfish or ungrateful and maybe I am but after being 130 lbs overweight for so long I just want to get to my goal so I can maintain forever.

Any suggestions on how to bust through this ugly plateau? I haven't done anything different with my food intake/exercise. I've just hit a wall I can't break down.

The last 10-15 lbs are always the hardest to lose. I have been trying to lose them for at least 8 months. Your body seems to hang on to them for dear life.

As you lose weight, your calorie requirement goes down. Try decreasing your calorie intake by about 100 per day. Don't go too low, as that is counter-productive.

Shake up your exercise routine. If you haven't taken a break from it for some time, take a week off. When you go back, you will be refreshed and pick right up. Change your routine, your activities, the intensity.

Sometimes, your genetics say that's enough; this is where I want to stay. If nothing works over time, that may be what's going on.

Hope this helps...

Im a big advocate for calorie zig zaggin. Im sure you know what it is by now I was actually on a platue at 141, 142 and thats what I did to get off it, also added some aerobics 20 minutes that seemed to work got right off that platue. Dont give up,, just stick with it and you'll be off that platue before to much longer

What about exercise? Maybe your body is no longer challenged by your present routine. Switching to some new form of exercise that your body isn't used to might be the trigger that helps you drop the last of your weight. Also keep in mind that plateaus are normal when you're losing weight, and sometimes you just have to give yourself a little extra time. By the way, congratulations on your incredible loss so far!

I'm in the same boat that you are - only I have 25 lbs to lose. I know that my plateaus will be longer and longer. Although I still look to the scale for my 'gold' standard of how I'm doing on my diet, I have come to the realization that the loss on the scale will eventually stop. I've been trying to change my mind set and now I'm starting to look toward my closet as my 'scale'. I have a left side of the closet where things go that I've gotten from either the thrift store, or ebay that, in the past, was too small. About once a month, I try something on from the 'small' side. I have actually jumped up and down when something fits! I never did that with the scale (although I felt very happy).

I'll still check the scale (occassionally) but I'll check my closet more frequently.

I loved the other suggestions too! I may have to try out a couple.

Chin up - don't lose sight of your goal - you'll make it!
