i'm totally the same way. I haven't told ANY of my friends or coworkers that I'm trying to lose weight. But then when someone notices, it makes it that much more great cause you know they aren't just saying something cause they know you've been trying to lose weight and that they actually see it.

Actually, telling someone is a good strategy. It helps to keep us honest.

I think the reasons that we don't tell someone is the fear of failure and we don't want anyone to know that we failed...At least thats why I don't tell.

And that is why I have told EVERYONE this time. Almost so they can 'hold me too it.' I don't want to fail and have everyone know. So I told all my co-workers, family, everyone. And I bring it up once and while. It also helps when a co-workers goes hey! wanna go for lunch? Much easier to say no thanks, I am on a diet Makes me feel good!

I told everyone when I started my diet plan. Most were very positive. It did seem to help hold me more accountable. Good Luck
