I finally broke down and bought Fitday PC..part of my reluctance was all the custom stuff I built in the free version--yesterday I had half our groceries out logging the cals/carbs etc info into the software! DH thought I was Nuts :dz: and I bought Leslie Sansones Walk away the pounds ... I have a big collection of VCR exercise tapes.. so now I gotta rebuild it with DVDs... oh. last night I made Beachgals recipe for Balsamic and mustard Green beans -- ABC DEeeelicious! :chef: Tonight I a making DH Chicken Man, Chicken Cordon Bleu... but I think I'm going to make the Chicken Florentine for meeeeee, .....

Mornin' all. Just a couple quick notes and then off to Curves. After I get to work I'll get some :coffee2: It's kind of a morning routine now - get to work, read email, grab coffee & sit in the boss' office for a few to talk about 24 or American Idol. It's a great way to start the day, unless we had problems with jobs that processed overnight :yikes: - then it's a whole other story.
Freaky - Sorry to hear about your PC problems. I finally had to suck it up and buy a new one about 6 mo ago. Haven't regretted it, even though shelling out the money for it really hurt. My problem these days is the response time from my ISP. It's....like....William....Shatner....playing..... James......
T..Kirk .....invaded.....my......computer. Some days it takes forever to get from screen to screen.
Ruth - Geez. I hate nightmares! I'm one of those people who don't remember a lot of their dreams, so when I have a bad one, it really sticks in my mind for a while. Hope you have a better day!

Wow is it busy in here already this morning. I am so thankful for all of your energy. I have not been feeling well for over a week and this mroning feeling really aweful but you guys really cheer me up. Thank You! Well I broke down and call my doctor yesterday. He couldn't see me as he is booked all week and going out of town next week. But he called me in a script. I never thought he would do that without seeing me (because of my heart condition) but he did. I am feeling a little better today but more run down then yesterday. SO hopefully after american idol tonight I can go to sleep.
I ate really bad last ngiht. My mom's brithday and I had to cook. I exercised this morning and added weights to increase my workouts so hopefully that will conqer the calories eaten last ngiht. I did not feel like working out at all this morning but I did it. I am so happy when I conqer these little battles in my life.
Ruth- I had a weird dream last night too. Mine wasn't bad though. It did make me realize i really love my husband and am still in love with him. So that was a good dream I guess but weird. It was about an old boyfriend/best friend. We have been friends for years but I have always really loved him but not in love with him. But in my dream he feel in love with me AFTER I lost all my weight and in the end I went to my husband and blew my friend off. The dream made me sad and happy- weird dreams! I ate carbs last night I wonder if that is what did it.

My scale at home is broken and I have no idea if I am up or down? I feel like I am down so hopefully I am. I have been so busy:dizzy: at work and so tired lately that I haven't had a minute to check in. I started my weekend of Thursday night so I had a ton of fun. I did do ok for the most part but at the bar I did have some sugary shots.:( I met a guy this weekend through a mutual friend and he seems super, super nice so that was pretty exciting.:carrot: The weather here was so nice on Monday people were walking around in tank tops, and today it is freezing again. That's the North for you! I saw that Dunkin Donuts has a new coffee here that they put an extra shot of expresso in, and I really could use that, I think I will get it tomorrow morning. Going to Curves on my lunch break (hopefully), and I think I talked my Aunt into signing up. Yea!!

I'm very tired this morning...didn't sleep very well. Sister called me last night to tell me that her & dad had dinner (I haven't spoken with my dad for 3 weeks - which in my family is a HUGE deal.) Dad told her that she would give her $1500 for her wedding (hmm, hello I'm getting married too! & Unlike my bum of a sister, I work 40-50 hours a week.) He said he couldn't pay for it all because his "friend" Dreama and him are planning a trip out west. (Ok, hello again, I've lived up here for 2 years & you haven't visited me once!) OH and he plans to sell the house & MOVE IN WITH HER. For someone who is 62 years old, you would think he would have a better head on his shoulders. I feel like our parent/child relationship has flipped sides. I started eating ice cream last night....DF was brave enough to take it away from me....so I only ate about 4 spoons full (I did have the entire container on my lap!)

It's a great tool in helping to determine the % of carbs/fats/proteins you eat-very eye opening to aid in educating yourself on how much of this or that you eat. For example, it really opened my eyes on how much Sat Fat I was eating :yikes: In addition, it provides a baseline for how many calories you need to maintain your current state, and how many calories you are burning. (There is a feature to log your activities) .I hit a weightloss wall, and upon examining Fitday, I saw that I was taking in way to many calories - although I was eating SB way-- I suffer from Portion Distortion and was consuming tooo much of a good thing.. I also was taking in alot of sodium and not enough Potassium.. Not enough water--etc
At any rate, like anything worthwhile, it takes some effort and time to log - but for me it has been an invaluable tool. The Free version is wonderful, but since I am really using it alot, I wanted more features that are available through the retail version...so I bought it fer 20 bucks

Schatzi - That's a crazy story about delivering the baby, glad the baby made out ok though. I need to get back to using fitday, I've used it before but I got lazy and stopped.
Mama - I'm sorry to hear you're still feeling bad. It sounds like you need several good nights of rest, your body needs it to fight off whatever you have. Hope you start feeling better real soon.
Bella - I hear you on the weather, it was 83 degrees here on Monday and today it's going to be barely in the 40's with a lot of wind.
Soon - I'm sorry about the situation with your dad. :hug: I don't have much of a relationship with my dad, never have and it's been very hard to accept that he doesn't want that kind of father/daughter relationship with me. But I've come to terms with it, not that it doesn't bother me from time to time. I know after Mom died, I struggled with it because I felt so alone, kind of like an orphan I guess. Maybe you could talk with your father?
As for me, I was completely OP yesterday and I exercised so I'm happy about that. I've changed my schedule around so I can devote my afternoons for exercise because I'm not a morning person and I just can't bring myself to get up at 5am in order to exercise and I don't have time in the evenings so afternoons are what work for me.
The kids had lacrosse practice last night. I have to admit that I hate the girls practice, the girls are so catty and at one another and the parents aren't much better. Our head coach for the girls is worse than any of the 12 yr olds, I don't think she's left the high school mentality behind. She's a good coach in that she knows the game but she's very clicky. The boys are so not like that and all of us parents get along wonderfully. I spend the majority of my time at the girls practice because Abby is there and it's her first year so she's been nervous and doesn't want me to leave. I just end up keeping to myself most of the time. It's just a stressful environment:( .
I finished our taxes last night, we're getting a refund from federal and we owe the state $179 so at least that's done and off my shoulders.
Tonight we are cleaning our house, it's looking like a pig sty which stresses me out so I need to do something about it!

My morning didn't start out very well. It must have been the full moon or something, cause I had a weird dream too. Only someone made me VERY angry in my dream and so when I woke up I was still mad. :mad: Then my little boy decided he didn't want to cooperate, so it was a big hassle getting him off to school. :mad: Grrrrr....
Then I stepped on the scale. :goodscale Down another pound! That cheered me up! I'm still not awake, but I'm sure happier. :D

Good morning everyone! Doing fine today. I didn't get up and get on the treadmill, not really sure why, so I'll get on it as soon as I get home from work before my boyfriend and I go out for our anniversary dinner. I also weighed myself this morning, 3.4 pounds heavier than I thought I was. I had a moment of panic, thinking I'm never going to lose this weight, but I'm kinda calm now. Pretty much. Anyway, last night I made 2 recipes from the board: peanut chicken satay and black bean brownies. Loved the sauce for the chicken, it was quite tasty. The black bean brownies were odd: the first one I had was kinda tasteless, but this morning I had one and it tasted like chocolate. I think my tastebuds are craving carbs so much that they're just super sensitive. Who knows. I brought one for the afternoon and the inevitable chocolate craving. But I am absolutely terrified that things like those brownies are going to keep me from losing weight. How many is alright to have in a day? I cut the pan into 9 brownies. Oh yea, I also made marinated cucumbers from the board as well, which leads me to 2 questions. Two things that are called for in phase one recipes have added sugar/corn syrup: rice wine vinegar and fat free half and half. Are they still okay to have? Also, does anyone have any suggestions for mild vegetables to have in the morning? I will never tire of eggs, but peppers and asparagus are a little stomach turning at breakfast time. Are those stuffed mushrooms okay? It makes me wish I liked V8...maybe I'd like it if it were warm, like soup? I s'pose I can try.
And, BTW, I love the anagram SBD since it has a double meaning, espescially considering the amount of veggies and legumes consumed. No more broccoli for me!

Good morning everybody. It's a busy day here. I have to tidy up the house a little before the developmental specialist comes at 10. She's coming to give us the results of Keely's tests. Then I have a meeting at 1; we're making diaper cakes for all of the new moms in our Battalion. Then another meeting at 3; it's a last minute planning session for our Jane Wayne Day on Friday. Jane Wayne Day is where the spouses get to put on cammies and play Marine for a day. We have to run an obstacle course, fire weapons, ride in an LAV and a 7-ton truck, etc. It should be a lot of fun. I hope we have nice weather. After all that's said and done, I'm going to go for a run. I'm down 1 more pound, so that's encouraging.
Gotta start cleaning. I'll be back later.

I've got to try to find my boy some cleats but they just don't make kids cleats wide. Both my boys have these short chunky feet (mmmm Chunky bar), i sear they did it on purpose just to make mama work...My oldest had his TKD pics yesterday and I cannot wiat to see them. The guys were very professional and really pushed his to kick really high & look at the camera with a fierce karate look.
Since weight training I've put on a lb but my clothes are still loser so I'm not too worried. Gotta let things rearrange a bit...sadly I tried on all my shorts and since i've lost weight but not a ton, they all give me that dumpy butt look...looks like I'll have to suffer through a shopping trip...LOL
Ok no ore bad dreams or bad computers. We need every body getting healthy so that spring can really get here and stay.
Future-i use regular half and half just b/c it seems less "franken" than the light. Bean brownies....eeeek not for me
Soon-don't let dad stress you too much. Sounds like your dad dotes on sis b/c she needs it whereas yo are actually an adult that can support herself. Not fair or fun but maybe he just needs to feel important.

Hi chicks. Horrible day for me yesterday staying on the beach. I've been struggling with snacking with non-beachy items. Hopefully today will be a better day. Nothing exciting today- work, Curves, and trying to potty train my son who is 4 1/2. Signed him up for kindergarten yesterday so he has to be done by Sept. Pooping is done, but working on "training his peepees" as he says. Any suggestions from you veteran moms. My daughter was also late being trained. I think we are on the right track. No accidents yesterday. Hopefully today will be as good. Work is terribly busy and I work at home so I feel like I am working all day long. Hubby is working overtime now as well so sometimes it seems like I'm all alone with the kiddies. Well, life goes on and hopefully the tide won't pull me in today.
Weezle-- Hope all is better in Springfield today. Thoughts are with you and all who were affected.

Man, it's so windy and cold :(....but it's bright and sunny on the other hand.
I just ate a piece of bread for the first time in 2 1/2 weeks. I started on phase 2 and haven't missed it at all but I really wanted some pb on toast with my tea. It was good! I've lost a couple pounds. I don't weigh often but I did this morning and it went down.
Today is a rest day for me from working out. I always feel guilty though!

DH said Brian had a headache when he picked him up from day care yesterday. And a low grade fever and sore throat. He took him in to Primacare and sure enough, his strep throat is back. He's only been off the ampicillin for two days! He's on a stronger antibiotic this time and seemed to be feeling better this morning. DH will watch him since he's unemployed and I work from the office on Wednesday's. I do know I need to stop at the grocery store on the way home today. It turns out that Brian likes to take the liquid antibiotic with fresh strawberries. A bite of strawberry, a sip of the strawberry flavored antibiotic. I say whatever gets a kid to take it without arguing is fine with me!
Oh, Brian invented a new smoothy last night. Let me know if anyone wants me to post it in the recipes. It is one container of strawberry banana yogurt (sf of course), one snack size cup of unsweetened applesauce, a cup or so of frozen strawberries and a banana. I thought it would taste weird but we all loved it!
mama - You need to rest and if you don't start feeling better go in to a Primacare type place if your doctor isn't available. It is possible that the script he gave you won't work for what you have and you don't want to take chances when you have a chronic condition. Hope you feel better! :hug:

There really is no limit, but I would keep to 1 or 2 max.. They are 125 cals a piece if you made 6...and the SF products might cause some digestion problems if you eat too many.

There are quite a few Breakfast recipes that enhance /supplement basic omelets /egg dishes with veggies like squash, zucchini, onions, tomatos etc... I like my Squash Scramble..tasteeee.
Which stuffed mushrooms? At any rate, you can have any dish anytime... We're big on saying you don't need to limit your self to "traditional" breakfast items like eggs or "pancakes"... :chef:

Did I ever tell you guys that I love Wisconsin weather? One minute it's 65, and now we have a winter warning. Enough is enough already, bring on the warm weather! I'm still trying to shake this stupid cold. I woke up this morning feeling better, but now I'm all stuffy again. :(
Went to the gym last night again, walked on the treadmill for about 45 minutes and then did some weight training. Lost a pound :goodscale: while I was at the gym - however I'm sure that was all water weight. We'll have to see when I get there after work tonight for step aerobics.
Freaky - computer problems are the worst! A few weeks ago mine decided it just wasn't going to turn on - so I lost all my files since my last backup - word to the wise: SAVE ALL YOUR FILES ON A BACK UP!! Saves a ton of time and hard work.
Ruth - Hope your sleep is better tonight and no more yucky dreams!
Mamahulk - I'm with ya on not feeling good. It's such a pain to stay OP when you don't feel good, but hang in there :hug: I'm right with ya!
Soon: Fathers can be such a pain, if it makes you feel any better, my father is 60 and on his 3rd marriage. Hopefully this one sticks for awhile. I think they fear being alone. It makes them act stupidly, and selfish. Hang in there, he'll come around.

I've posted the Smoothie in the phase 2 Dessert section. We don't have a beverage section and we used it as dessert. It could also work for a snack.
At least if Brian had to get sick again, it is Spring Break and he isn't missing school ;) I just hope I don't get it. We were sharing a water bottle before he got sick.
Lindy - I wish I could help with the potty training issues but I have to admit that day care did most of the work at potty training Brian. We did have problems with nighttime wetness until last summer around the time that he turned 8 but we didn't let it stress him and it got less frequent as he got older and he's been dry totally for six months now.
usmchoney - I'm crossing my fingers that Keely's test results are good.
futurecfo - I have used rice wine vinegar in many recipes but I've also been in phase 2 for a long time. I think the amount of corn syrup is really small but I would have to check my bottle. How much shows up in the nutritional section under sugar?

Lindy: My 3 1/2 year old son is somewhat potty training. He was doing really well until he was put in a developmental preschool. They don't work with the kids on potty training, so it's tough. What works best for him though is to let him run around with nothing on from the waist down. If my son is naked he always makes it to the potty in time. If he's got pants on, he forgets. Then when he starts doing well with that, just put underwear on him and go from there. It doesn't work with every kid, but it's worth a try. (That is, if you don't mind a half naked boy running around the house. :) )

I'm restarting P1...2 days down, so far so good! I worked out this morning and had a bean muffin...pretty tasty! It's a busy day at work, just taking my lunch (Egg Plant Parmesan and the p1 brownies from the recipie board..mmmmm:hungry: )
Ruth: I feel you, I had a nightmare myself last night. I am getting married in August and I had a dream about my wedding and everything went wrong...my dress had red everywhere on it, a cat ate all of my flowers and decorations, and our photographer decided to come at the end with no camera. It doesn't sound so scary I guess...but it's obviously stressing me out and I ALWAYS remember my dreams.

It's not so much an exact recipe as it is the ingredients themselves...like fat free half and half, which has corn syrup as a second ingredient and rice wine vinegar, which has sugar as a second ingredient. I just wanted to make sure they were ok to have!

Future CFO . That is the concern with anything listed as Fat Free.. The fillers that are used are usually sugar - .. You can use Lf half and half in the place of fat free. Low fat half and half is considered a limited item. Depending upon the amount in the recipe, you may need to eliminate other dairy for that day. If it calls for just a splash, then use your judgement.
In general all Vinegars are acceptable --there is a caveat to watch for added sweetners. There is a limit on sugars as an additive.. You should avoid it. That being said sugar has a moderate GI ranking -- so , IMO, you might want to consider the amount that is being used in the recipe, and the number of servings--chances are that the amount of sugar involved from the Rice Vinegar will be negligent.

Hello ladies! I tried SB about a year ago and now I'm back at it! I went shopping last night so I'd be sure to have plenty of stuff to get started with. I really looked forward to getting on this site everyday and checking the posts. This is the most supportive place on the web that I've ever seen! Had a busy morning,that I just didn't have the chance to post until now. Bought DH a recliner and had to go shopping. On Friday I'll be out all day as we have to go back to the hospital for a MRI,and than back to a another hsopital on Monday for the other tests.
My head is in a ringer right now,don't know if I'm coming or going.
Haven't exercised in over two weeks,but TG I'm eatting the right foods no cheats so far. My weight is still holding at 149.
My plan with all this craziness going on, is to lean more to Phase 1 for a few days and than back to my Phase 1.5[one fruit & grain per day].Don't want to gain the pounds I lost back again.
Have to go, have an appointment with my doctor this afternoon.

Still very sad in Springfield. Finding out about friends' homes and businesses that have been leveled. I'm slightly upset because I have to teach piano this afternoon which means I have to drive past a lot of the destruction. It's going to be tough, I imagine.
Good news is they finally removed enough power lines from one of the streets here that I can get to my tanning salon. There are still people without power, but apparently The Ultimate Tan is open and ready for business. WOO HOO!
After work I will teach piano, tan, and then if it's still light outside, I may go for a run. If I run in the safest part of my neighborhood, I can do 1.5 miles. Sunset is at 6:05.... I may be able to pull it off. Or, I may just try to do some housework. I just don't know. I have too much on my plate! I'm not getting my exercise minutes this month because I've just been too busy. I have dishes stacked to the ceiling, I have laundry that needs done.... We'll see what happens.
Hope all is well with you. I'm still stuck at 130. I have 1 lb to lose by March 25, but I have the Day of Irish Food and Drink, a bridesmaid luncheon, bachelorette party, and rehearsal dinner all between now and then. I'm going to need a lot of help with that. Take care everyone.
