Well, I don't know WHAT happened. Lost 3 pounds on the fat fast and weighed in this morning and IT'S ALL BACK!! What's up with that?? Coudl it be the soda I drank yesterday? Just ONE bottle? Well, back to the fat fast this week to see if I can drop that 3 pounds again. Only this time NO soda!!!
 Hi everyone!!

I'm sure the 3 lb will disappear as fast as they came back.
I was doing sooo well and last night at work guy brought in a banana cake with cream cheese frosting. And YEP...I had a piece. Don't know what I was thinking, but I was back to the old stanby of getting stressed out and eating. So gotta kick that in the a$$ fast. I think I knew work was going to be a very long 8 hours and maybe the cake would make me feel better. WRONG, I felt guilty all night. DUH...I knew I would. So today I'm getting ready to drink my first bottle of water and get some sleep and then drink more water to get the crap out of my system.
Oh...I guess I should have said somewhere in there...I work 3rd shift. If you hadn't already figured that out.
Hope everyone has a great week started. :D

Brenda: I bet it's just water!! Have you been getting any exercise in? AWESOME job on losing those three, I know they'll fall back off soon!!
M&Gmom: there's a thread above titled: why I shouldn't have eaten that. Everytime I screw up I post my guilt in there and it seems to help a lot because my mind goes to that thread when temptations occur :)
Where's everyone else?? How's everyone doing?? I reached my St.Paddy's goal and am feeling fantastic about myself. The down side is that my husband is SUPER jealous now and putting me down in ways that I never thought he would do. His insecurities have stooped him to a new level and it's very upsetting. I refuse to let HIS problems bring me down though, all I can do is re-assure him that I am not leaving him, nor am I going to change back to my fat self so that he'll feel secure again!!
:cheer: I reached my St. Paddy's goal!!!! :carrot:

Good morning all :)
Brenda - I am sure those 3 pounds will be gone in no time. The scale can be so discouraging at times, but you can do it!
M&GMom - I'm not sure I could have turned down banana cake with cream cheese frosting either - it's my fave! I always try to keep in mind how I feel after a slip-up when I am tempted to cheat & it really does seem to help.
Bnbsmommy - CONGRATS on making your St. Paddy's Day goal - & early, too! :carrot: Sorry to hear about your husband, but way to stick to your convictions & not let him get you down! You are doing fabulous!
Nothing too exciting to report here... I swear I am ready to throw the scale right out the window. I tell myself every day that I will not weigh myself, but it's like a compulsion. I am VOWING not to weigh myself again until March 25. I have a feeling that may very well be more difficult than sticking to the diet! But I hate being a slave to the scale. It plays such tricks on my mind... I'll be feeling really good about myself, & then I'll step on the scale & if it doesn't read what I think it should, I get so down. The scale hasn't move so much as an ounce since last Wednesday, which has me totally bummed out (could I be at a stall so early on? I've only been doing Atkins for 2 weeks & I have not strayed from the induction food list AT ALL?). But, I am feeling better, so I really want to stick with it. Seeing the scale not budge, though, puts that little devil on my shoulder saying "what's the point? Eat what you want!" Anyway, so I'm putting the scale away for 2 weeks. And I guess I will reassess then. Now, I just have to stick with it!

Hi girls, I hear you.
Lacy Congrats on reaching your goal early. Don't let him discourage you. I am never sure what it is with husbands and why they get nervous about weight loss. I guess they worry that you'll be too hot to handle!
Kayla, Those scales can really get you down. I think that is probably one thing that I just can't stand about this diet. Even knowing that it is "just water weight" and that we will lose it as quickly as it came, I still get frustrated when I see all my efforts seemingly going away that way.
My scale was up 6 pounds from my lowest! With a pound of fat being equal to 3500 calories, I know that there was NO way I could have gained that much back in fat, it still is hard to see your goals seeming to head the oppposite direction from where you are hoping for.
Just remember if you are following the plan, you are still losing fat. Sometimes the body compensates for awhile and hangs on to extra water especially if you have eaten salty foods like soy sauce or something. But eventually it lets it go and you'll see the loss. I had that happen all last month, scale wouldn't budge by much at all and what it did allow in losses came back.
Then this month early I had a whoosh and lost a bunch at once. Of course, now I'm struggling to get those same pounds back off again, but I'll do it.
Today is the start of a new week and we CAN do this. It isn't impossible. It's just annoying and difficult at times.
Sometimes I think it isn't even the diet that makes it difficult, it is the discouragement. Numbers heading up instead of down that sort of thing. When I look down at my belly (particularly when I'm driving) and see how much less of it there is, I KNOW I'm doing well, losing fat etc. but I can never believe it unless some dial on a mechanical device confirms it for me! How silly is that?

Morning Ladies :coffee: :
The kids are better, but Moose is still the sicker of the 2. This cough and gunk in his chest is making him hack constantly. He still had a mild fever last night, but DD seems to have had no fever for more than a day.. so that's good.
Brenda - are you sure it's not just water? I can't see the one soda doing that to ya (though I have no idea how your body works). I bet in a few days it'll drop right back off. It just doesn't sound right...
Lacey- CONGRATS!!! And it is so nice to hear you are feeling good about yourself despite your husbands attitude. You are gorgeous, and it sounds like his fear is the obvious attention you will (and probably are) receiving from other people. Either he'll have to get over it, or you'll need to give him a good pop over the head to adjust that attitude. :rollpin:
Kayla - I hear ya! I'm having the same issue, and i'm going to start another thread in a bit to gather any advice about it. It's driving me nuts!
Jackie - Welcome! I meant to say that in the thread you started but with 2 kids w/ the flu I have become boggled about if I answered something or not. :)
Sherry - I love ya! I just love when you post something very inspiring like that. I am having a very tough time, and need some advice, but every time you post something like this, I start to rethink if it's necessary or not. LOL Still going to ask a question in another thread... :)

Lacey: WTG on making the St. Patty's challenge. Sorry to hear about your DH though. Hope all gets better soon. And only exercise I've been doing is putting a ceiling (tongue & groove wood) up. Does that count?
Kayla: Do what I've been doing w/the scale....drink a glass of water right when you get up so that you don't weigh yourself. I never want to weigh myself after I've drank or eaten something  Give it a try :)
Sherry: Thanks for the reminder not to worry about the scale but what the tape measure says. I forgot it also mentioned a 1 inch loss. I like what you said, "it isn't impossible..just annoying and difficult sometimes". Yup! VERY true!!
Falon: Glad to hear the kids are better!!
Well, stuff for Girl Scouts are almost all printed off. I've got to get some stuff from the store then I can finish it off. Then I need to wash clothes. ARGH!! Not enough time in a day. But you should see our kitchen ceiling. It is looking GREAT :) We also got the kitchen light up. And the dining room ceiling fan. WAHOO!! Maybe some day we'll finish remodeling this house

Afternoon ladies! It was a crazy weekend.
I woke up Saturday morning to find someone had egged my car overnight. What a waste of protein! They didn't touch my husband's or our friend's that were parked next to mine. We figure it was the fish shaped magnet that says "God Bless our Troops" on the back of my car. Either that, or it was Woodstock and who could dislike Snoopy & Woodstock? So DH had to go wash my car. Fortunately it all came off. If I ever caught them, I'd be very tempted to "bless" them.
Then, we've had a friend with us since Friday night who spent the weekend hogging the computer playing poker and blackjack. He is one of those people who if he lived back in the days long ago would be a traveling salesman selling snake oil. He constantly changes careers always believing the next big deal is right around the corner. He's so far in debt it's not funny. He now has no place to live. He and this new partner he hooked up and now are going to travel around the country in a motor home and sell security systems. He has grandiose plans of making $10K a month. But in the meantime, he's crashed on my couch. And eating my food. Aaauugghhh!

Well here is to a new week and a new begining. I have found a friend at work that is a Atkins Guru and has agreed to do the diet and keep me accountable in person. Yay! So hopefully I can get this going and get my booty in shape.
Lacey: Ask your husband if he would rather you fat with a bunch of health problems and a early death so that he could be left alone running the life that yall should have spent together happily all because he was being selfish. Not to get all "Dr. Phil" on ya, but they had a episode with husbands who were freaking out cause their wives were losing weight. He basically told them to pull their heads out of their @$$.

Boy, I sure know what you mean about the hubby thing. Mine is starting to make some comments about women who lose weight are really preparing to get a divorce. Not feeling too hot this morning... had my first "cheat" since starting Atkins last night. :( Was/am feeling stressed & turned to pasta & garlic bread:( I feel AWFUL this morning. Moring Ladies:
As I said in my reply to my thread I started, I'm going to try and get back to the gym today.
Susan - there's a question in there for you concerning the fat fast. Sorry to hear about your car. I dealt with a similar issue concerning a bumper sticker on my jeep. Someone actually removed it because it said: In Goddess We Trust. The nerve people have.. It seems to go around in all belief systems. Glad the eggs came off! That could have really been damaging.
Robin - This week will be better!! Right?
Brenda - Congrats! Glad it came back down.. let me know how the soda test goes. Inquiring minds want to know! Ok, at least mine does! LOL
Morgaine - Bravo sweetie! Your halfway accomplishment is wonderful! And thanks for that great giggle this morning.. your reply to your hubby was classic.
Lacey - sounds like the insecurity table turned, and your having to deal with a load... but wasn't there a time when you were so heavy that you were scared he was going to have an affair with a thinner woman? I mean.. you must have gone through the same thing at some time! Maybe he needs to be reminded of that, and that you were worried for nothing because he didn't.. so why does that automatically mean that you would! Trust is a hard thing for some people.. Paranoia is the easy road.
To everyone else - Good morning! Hope you all have a lovely Monday!

Ready or not I will wear shorts when the time comes.... Sure I'd rather look good in them than not, but I'll wear them regardless!
I've spent the morning looking at my bills. Ugh. Depressing. One of them I just couldn't make any sense of. The original bill was for just over a hundred dollars, and because we couldn't pay it it went to collections. The collection agency is asking for nearly 700 dollars? I don't get it. I was going to call them, but then I thought better of it. Wrote them instead. This way they don't get my phone number.
I need a budget. I need to get on top of things. Thing is I don't have a clue as to how to get on top. Hubby had weird work most of last year and we got very behind on a lot of things. He's working now and I'm working part time and things should be better, but they never seem to be. I can't figure out how to reign both of us in. If I reign only my own spending in, I still have to deal with his, and so often he just doesn't seem to get it.
Anyway, that is my stressors for today. Funny to be 50 years old and still not know how to put together a budget. Why don't they teach these things in school?
Scale was pretty high this morning. I'm hoping for a lower number next time I weigh, but may not get it. I did well most of the day yesterday. Not perfect, but mostly ok.

Good afternoon ladies!
I've always worn shorts and a bathing suit going to the pool even when I was at 390. I always figured if people didn't like it, they were welcome to go home or somewhere else in the universe. I lived in Arizona where we spent a lot of time in the pool. If they didn't like the way I looked, they can go find another pool!
Sherry, I keep an Excel spreadsheet with all of our expenses. I made a list of all the bills we have with the monthly payment amounts as well as the current balance. I set up a spot to input my paycheck amount and then did a total so that I can see the total of the bills and it subtracts the total from my paycheck so I know what's left. I also have it subtract things like my automatic transfer to savings. Now keeping DH on track is a different story. We keep separate checking accounts -- but both are joint accounts. He has his own checkbook and his own debit card. I pay bills out of mine and transfer money from his as I need it. We also made a rule that neither person can spend more than $99 without checking with the other person first.
My DH was the opposite from you ladies. We started hanging out in 2001 and he told me he would never marry me because I was too overweight. Well, he did in 2003. We split up and he was sitting at a movie with another date and he said he just kept thinking that this would be more fun with me than the person he was with. Our motto is comfort before beauty!
Brenda, are you sensitive to sodium? Soda does have a lot of sodium in it.
SherryA
03-14-2006, 09:15 PM
Do you use two different banks or one? I tried the separate accounts thing in the same bank, and when he sufficiently messed his account up, they started automatically taking the money from my account to cover his overdrafts! Which made my account start bouncing checks since I didn't know they were going to do that and I had outstanding checks when they did. I've tried any number of different ways to keep things straight, but he can't handle an account on his own. He always messes it up.

Kayla: Hope you're feeling better! Water and a day or so and you'll be back to normal:)
Falon: Did you make it to the gym? Yup, I'll let you know about the soda. I plan on taking my weight Friday morning..then Saturday is official WI so hopefully it's the same (or less would be nice  ).
Sherry: The collection agency INCREASED the amount? That doesn't make sense at all. Not by THAT much. Hope all works out. And I know what you mean about playing catch up! It's hard!
Susan: I love your attitude about the shorts and swimsuit! I WANT THAT!! :) And I was skinny when my DH married me. He just figured when I was fat guys wouldn't look at me. Go figure!! Not sure about the sodium. Would make sense because if I eat peanuts (shelled) I gain it as well (LOVE peanuts). I'll do a test on those later :)
Jackie:  how's it going?
Well, not so rushed today. I actually have the "morning and afternoon" off  Just need to clean the counters and get the dishes done. That's my "must do" today. If nothing else gets done, I want that at least done. Figured I'd do a little bit at a time. THEN maybe it'd actually get clean! One can hope! Didn't get "exercise" in unless you count the walking around or standing while the GS were doing a clay/ceramics class? Water's still going well :)

Mornin' :coffee: :
Brenda - I didn'y make it to the gym. By early afternoon, I started to feel like poo.. :( I can't put my finger on it, but I don't think it's the beginning of the flu from the kids. It's more like nausea, and this kind of burning in my throat and a rattle in my chest. It's really strange, but if it's the start of the flu, it's definately something different. No fever, just that yucky feeling.
Susan : Can I send you a money order for a package of that awesome attitude!?!?
Scale still hasn't moved, and I am thinking of trying the fast in the same method as you do Susan. I absolutely can do that, but i'd perfer something like cashews.. though macadamia's are good too.I think i'll at least give it a try. It might work for me and it might not.
The only thing is, this nausea is awful, and I am wanting a dry peice of toast to help with it. I'm going to try and hold off, but I don't know what else to do. The anti-nausea stuff I have in the med cabinet is chock full of sugar!
Oh and I was thinking about the sodium possiblity in the soda Brenda: I noticed that the coke zero had 40 grams, and says on the bottle 'low in sodium' obviously in comparisson to the other kinds. When we eat chicken with the skin on, we are getting a lot more sodium that way, so why wouldn't that cause a problem instead of the pop? Did that make sense.. Shesh, I feel like crap and shouldn't be posting.. but it was just a curious thought.
I'm just whinning this morning. Hope everyones day is much better!!

Falon, hope you're feeling better. Maybe it's the aspartame in the soda that makes me retain water along with the sodium. Well, the experiment of whether I "gain" water weight again is on for Friday. If I don't then awesome (but will stay away from soda for the most part). If I do then I know better :) Definitely try the toast. Even if it's regular carbed stuff, if it makes you feel better that's the main thing right now. Refocus on weight loss when you're feeling full strength

Sherry, congrats -- that's great! Way to go. My DH and I do have our bank accounts at the same bank, but they are not tied together. We use US Bank and they don't take money from mine if he overdraws. You could ask the question and see if they can keep them separated.
Falon, hope you are feeling better. Can you have diet 7UP? I know it's soda, but that helps my stomach when it's upset.
Brenda, tell your husband to watch Dr. Phil. There was a very large lady on there the other day who has now had 13 affairs since she's been married and she's pregnant now with some other guy's kid. There are plenty of guys out there who won't care if you have extra weight if they want to get laid.
Ladies, I do tend to be really bad. I have told people who have made smart remarks about me being fat that yeah, I'm fat, but they are ugly. I can diet but they are stuck. I've also said I may be fat, but at least I'm a decent human being which is more than I can say for you. Another thing is to look at them and say excuse me, does Elvis talk to you and did you miss your last dose of medication cause there's garbage coming out your mouth.
I just don't believe in taking it when people are making smart comments to me that are personal. Not my style. And if they are being mean, they don't deserve nice.
I'm getting spoiled at home. I go home now and hand DH my dirty dishes from breakfast and lunch at work and my coat and he takes them with no comment and kisses me hello. Today he's doing the grocery shopping and then he's going home to clean the kitchen and bathrooms. He'll have dinner ready when I get home. Yesterday he put new stain on the kitchen cabinets and installed handles on my cabinet doors and drawers for me so I don't break a nail. He also did all the laundry.

Way to go Sherry for the loss.
I'm back to eating very clean. It has been a good eating day for me. I have some chicken strips I grilled tonight that I am taking to work. Work is hard for me. What do you eat in the middle of the night????? Sometimes I take an actual meal, other times a shake does me, and other times NOTHING satisfies me. Every once in a while one of the trainmasters will buy us breakfast from a local place which is usually a ham & cheese omelette. I like those nights because I feel full when I get home and can not eat anything before going to sleep. Its always something different at work. I really would like to get into a routine of some sort. Oh well...I guess as long as it is all low carb thats all that matters. Ok...I'm done rambling.

Ok so I woke up this morning and I am feeling way better. I was looking at one of my tummy rolls (dont laugh we all do it) and it looked smaller to me, so i decided that I was going to measure just to kill my curosity and yes I measure each roll I have on my tummy which is only 2 (again dont laugh), and it was down a inch. I took my measurements on Tuesday of this week, so 2 days later I am down a inch. Now talk about motivation to not cheat. So I think my realization of cheating is dumb has hit me square in the face. Now if I could just get the lazyiness out of my but and hit the gym after work, I would be good to go. How is everyone else doing? -Sandra

Had corned beef and cabbage which wouldn't have been SOOO bad...but then I had a couple spoon fulls of irish stew (potatoes & gravy)....and the HUGE carrots that came with...and the BUNS to sop up the gravy....and of course the cabbage salad (sugar laden I'm sure)....then had a collission with GS cookies. Last night my lips felt like someone sucked the moisture out of them and today I'm tired as heck. Back to the drawing board!!

Morning :coffee: :
Would you believe that I still have stayed on program despite being sick? Shesh, Brenda you could have come over and shared those darn GS cookies! They would have been a welcomed site.. LOL I did get on the scale this moning, and it moved back down to 183 (from 185 which is what I went up to and then stalled) so i'm happy with that. I wish I had the energy to sit and chat with you all, but i'm gonna go veg on the couch with my coffee, and a book I just got from Amazon.. Yeah, it's about Philadelphia History - pretrip reading.. <grins>
Thanks for all the 'get well' wishes guys. Have I told you all lately, you're the ones that keep me going?? :o
 to each and every one of you. I'll post later if I feel like it.

Good Morning :coffee:
Man o Man....Im back from my carb binge :o Im reinducting (again) and heading back to the gym, on Monday. I cant do gym, and induction all at once. I'll get the hangover and withdrawals overwith, and then hit the gym.
On the plus side....my jeans still fit. Not comfortably mind you, but they still fit!
I havent been reading much here the last 2 weeks, just bits and blurbs.
Sandra~ I measure the rolls too!!
Brenda~
Susan~ I think anyone speaking out about our own person deserves to be put in their place. What business is it of theirs anyway! Good for you!
Falon~ :cp: great job staying op while being sick....Im glad your getting better.
Sue~ I hope dh makes up for what he's done.
We've been doing a bit of work around the house....at the moment we have a huge hole in the dining room ceiling. Did you know, that when you poke holes in a 100yr old house....it stinks!!!!!!!!! eeww!! I couldnt believe the stuff that was pulled out of that spot...no wonder it was falling down!! Got our new garage door up, and it looks wonderful. But now I have to paint the garage  the door makes the garage look old and dingy.
Well, time for more water....have a great day ladies.

Falon: WTG on staying OP while sick. I don't think I could do that. It's AWESOME!! And sorry..if you've been staying OP then you didn't need GS cookies :)
Robin: Glad the jeans still fit. Before you know it you'll be back to where you were before this last carb-fest. You always have such self control when it comes to exercise!!
Well, was going to continue on the fat fast but decided to continue on with induction instead. I weighed myself (expected the worst) after my shower (this was AFTER breakfast of 2 eggs and a bunch of water!) and it was still what it was yesterday....so I'm ok with it :) Just realized that doing the fat fast for 5 days was one thing but I should have moved on instead of trying to do it again. Silly me

remember larry the gutter guy the other day? Today we had billy bob thorton, from sling blade. It was amazing how much he sounded JUST like him!!!! He even grunted like him!!! I pointed it out to dh after he left, and dh said "THAT'S who he sounded like, I couldnt figure it out!" My oven still isnt fixed....thats what the guy was doing here. I have one of those ovens that turns on most of the time, but never when you're in a hurry to cook something, or in the middle of cooking something important :( So, anyway, they couldnt fix it ...because of course the oven is working fine now!! :dizzy: He gave us a few things to try next time it doesnt want to work. If its one of 2 things, I'll get a new stove!! :cb:
Well, thats it for now....Ive cleaned up a bit of the mess the hole in the ceiling made. That should be all fixed up tonight. Then I'll have fine dust all over everything :( oh well.
I think dd and I are off to the zoo this afternoon....have a good one.

So, Robin, that's why I've been all alone in the March Exercise thread -- you've been missing!:D
Sue, sure you can borrow my DH. I will have to warn you -- he talks constantly. He talks more than anyone I have ever met -- especially now that he's home alone with the cats all day -- and he's loud.
Brenda, watch out for those runaway GS cookies -- they have a tendency to hit you from behind when you are not looking and they never carry insurance.:cookie: I am so thankful to be allergic to those things.
Jackie -- can you take cheese or beef jerky or lunchmeat rollups with you? One of the things I like to snack on is a slice of ham spread with cream cheese topped with a slice of cheese spread with cream cheese rolled up and cut into bites. Can you put stuff in a cooler? Macademia nuts are a good snack too.
Sandra - you are welcome to my fantasy of my ex-husband spreadeagled in the parking lot with tire tracks running up the back of his head. I'm glad you have survived what happened to you. Just remember, someday when they die, they'll get theirs.
Falon - back away from the GS cookies. Brenda isn't allowed to share with you -- sorry, but sometimes it's not nice to share.

DH wormed his way out of the dog house. Yea I still love him, though I could slam his head in a door some times.
Brenda that sounded like a day from carb he## Come back to us and shake off the carb monster. he will just hurt you!!!
Susan I have not joined you in the exercise thread maybe I should. I go almost every day. (did not this morning DH was making up! ) but I do not mind a chatter I would not have to say too much (like that would be easy) NOT
robin mine is that old and plus so yea I know, it sure was fun when the cealing fell in when we had company!!!

Good afternoon all :)
Way to go for all of you who are staying on plan!! :D
I've been OP since my P.I. (pasta incident ;) ) on Monday. And, as I vowed, have stayed off that scale. I'm much too afraid of getting on it after Monday! I have a feeling I probably did quite a bit of damage, though. I just hope I lose some weight between now & the end of the month... we'll see, I guess! :)
RobinW - have fun at the zoo!
Falon - glad you feel better & wtg on staying OP.
Sandra - wtg on losing the inch!

Ok so I am now on day 4 of induction and still going strong. Yesterday I had some real flu like feelings (kinda weird) but again I am feeling better today. I still have not cheated and have no intention to do so. I cant wait to weigh/measure after my 2 weeks to see what good I have done. I hope that everyone else is doing well.

Way to go Sandra on your 4 days. I can't wait to hear the results after 2 weeks. I'm sure all of your hard work will have paid off!!! Keep it up! I've been good now for 3 days and I'm happy with that. I'm going to do some big time prepping on my days off. That way work won't be such a hard thing to deal with as far as food is concerned.

Susan: Sorry I haven't joined in the exercise thread. I know I need to get my fluffybutt up and exercising...I just HATE to exercise. I'll try and do better and join you :)
Sue: Hopefully your DH has learned his lesson and doesn't do it again. Glad things are getting better :)
Kayla: WTG on staying OP since Monday. Baby steps :) keep going :)
Jackie: Sounds like you've got an excellent plan going :)
Sandra: WTG on staying OP even while sick. I don't think I could. AWESOME!!
Well, decided to be done w/the fat fast. I think I've bumped the metabolism into gear so we'll see how it goes. If I haven't lost in a couple weeks maybe I'll try it again. Did the WI this morning and I've dropped 3 pounds. So we'll see if after the bowling soda's the scale shows an increase tomorrow for official WI. If it's increased I'm taking todays weight instead. So test #1 is today  I'll let you all know how it goes.

Morning Girls:
I have larengitis now, thanks this gunk, but other than that... not so bad. I have a group of girlfriends coming tomorrow so my excersise is mopping and cleaning as one does right before company shows. :D These are friends that come out to my house once a month for feasting and gabbing. Well, this is the first get-together since I went on diet. There were things going on in our lives (besides the holidays) that kept postponing it, and now we're back on. They understand i'm eating different now, but I said to still bring stuff they like for each other. I don't have a problem with temptation. The kids have all sorts of yummies in the house and I havn't touched them once. There is one lady who is bringing a bottle of chocolate wine (sounds gross but i've heard it's heavenly) and I might try a sip, since i'll never get to again. It's special order from a winery, and you can't just get it in the store. :^: And maybe again, I won't.. who knows.
I am down 1 more pound this morning, but will wait until Sunday to see if it stays gone.
Brenda - tonights the soda challenge! *snickers* I really an curious! I agree with Sue about the carb monster. Beat that ******* with a stick, bury him in the desert, and come back to ussssss... LOL
Kayla - Keep going! Your doing fantastic! I have heard about the flu symtoms happening in people in induction, but have never experienced it myself. Glad you are feeling better though..
Robin: The zoo sounds like good fun right now, and good excersise to boot! If the Billy Bob guy ever has to come back out, please.. please, please, I beg.. get video! I'm a webmaster and will donate the space to host it!!! LOL That just had to be funny.. You get the interesting ones come to your place. I just get the ones that think 'butt crack' is a fashion statement!
Well girls - the kitchen floor is calling my name, even though I have already informed the poor lot, that I was not who they think I am. Guess my disguise of knotted hair, and bad sweat pants isn't working to well..*sigh*
Hug to you all! And I hope you all have a gorgeous Friday!

Evening :)
Falon~ just lately, Ive been getting the really interesting ones  The guy that came to pick up the check for the gutters, was wayyyyyy too smooth with me. We have to decide if we are calling the stove guys back, but it would be pretty interesting to hook up my web cam and be able to show everyone
About the stove~ they couldnt fix it, because it worked fine while they were here! Go figure....its not working again today. :( The guys told us that it may be the plug we have it plugged into...it was giving wonky readings when they tested it with their thingamabob. If we tried plugging it into another outlet and it worked then we know its the plug. If it still doesnt work, its the computer modual....which equals big $$. So, its not the plug....Im hoping to get a new electric stoved :cp:
Hole in the ceiling~ its now plugged up, and I have fine dust everywhere, even tho there is a big plastic drop cloth tapped around the area.
I didnt make it thru my 1st day back on induction, and I think it would be better for me to wait until Sunday. Just too much going on around here right now....I know, its all excuses. But I can't promise myself to keep op today. Sunday, everything changes around here again, and I can make that promise then.
OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost have dh talked into getting a dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is big news around here!!!!
I'll be scarce around here until Sunday, when I get back to things.
Have a nice evening. :)

Robin: What type of dog? Sounds exciting. And sorry you have to get a new stove...but happy you're looking forward to it :)
Well, I had 2 soda's tonight. One bottle of soda this afternoon. And 16 OZ less of water than I should have. We'll see how the scale is for tomorrow. Figured if all is ok then maybe during the week I'll see how peanuts affect me  I was all bummed out and not in my usual good mood for bowling. I couldnt' wait to be done--it didn't seem fun tonight like usual. A couple other people noticed as well so I didn't hide it very well. off to bed for me!! I'll post my WI tomorrow and (hopefully) update my sig :)

Hi Girls, Scale was down a little this morning. 242.5
Still trying to get back to where I was at 241. I bought a magazine tonight. Have you ever noticed how women's magazines seem to be schizophrenic? On one page they tell you to diet, how to diet etc, and then a few pages over they show you pictures of these wonderful looking chocolate deserts!!
Are we all crazy? Page 165 through 176 are all wonderful looking deserts, then pages 178 through 182 are all recipes for main courses. Page 183 and 184 are food advertisements and then page 185 is about "The Big Day diet"... This is all in April's Good Housekeeping magazine.
I've noticed it on SO many magazines though. A big article in them on the latest diet and then a wonderful looking cake on the front cover. What is wrong with this picture?
Well today I think I should have a day off of cooking. I shopped for groceries today at 3 different stores and brought them home, lugged them in and put them away. Plus I worked today. My son and husband had the day off, my daughter went to school.
I just asked hubby to cook (at 9:42 in the evening) and he tells me he is "so hungry that it is hard to move".... Didn't eat all day with all this food in the house. Why are men so nuts? I don't get it. Wants me to feel sorry for him I guess. Maybe I should, but if he is so dumb that he doesn't feed himself all day because he is too lazy to fix it, I should do it for him? Something wrong with this picture.
I'm in a weird mood tonight. What do you girls think of this statement in the article on dieting in the GH magazine. After saying "don't worry about keeping track of the calories" he says he has already designed his diet to be 1200 a day if you just eat the foods he suggests, he says "(Yes, I'm talking calories, not carbs. Research shows that calories are all that matter when you're dieting.)"
That to me is irresponsible and it angers me. If it is only calories we are to concern ourselves with, then why have so many of us lost so much, so fast on low carb? Also how many of you are aware that 1200 calories is way too low for most women? Will put most of us in starvation mode so that our metabolisms slow down and make it impossible to even lose at all no matter how low we lower calories?
When I look at my own progress, and at the progress of people I see on this same board who are doing low cal or WW or some other thing, I start to wonder what "matters" more. Some of them seem to struggle so much. They find that it just doesn't "work". Or that it works so slowly they get discouraged. Our plan is hard to stick to at times, but if you do stick to it, it works. I'm not sure lowering calories alone ever worked for me. I tried any number of times and couldn't do it. Couldn't keep them low enough, was always hungry, etc.

Good Morning all!!!! Hope you are all have great plans for this weekend. My DS was up at 7 and needed my help with cartoons so I'm up and about ready to fix breakfast.
Brenda - I can't wait to see if pop is doing anything to your weight. And hope your mood improves after you wake.
Sherry - way to go on getting back down - you'll be below 241 before you know it. And I haven't read the article you have, but I don't think I'd be very happy if I had to limit my calories to 1200 for the rest of my life. I CAN eat low carb for the rest of my life without having to be HUNGRY all the time.
Everyone - have a great Saturday. The sun is out here...not supposed to be over 40 degrees, but the sun does help a little. Probably just cleaning house today and maybe some shopping later. FUN!!! I have tonight off from work so I actually have the WEEKEND off. I'm very excited. NO huge plans, just needed a break.

Sherry: Definitely sounds like the article writer needs an education! Well, as with all things, some people will buy into that and others won't. I wish more of the stars would tell how they eat. I've been hearing some (A LOT) are lowering their carb intakes. Would make for an interesting study!!
Jackie: Enjoy the sunshine and the weather. Sounds about the same as here :)
Leenie: Have a good time shopping :)
Sue: How old are your boys again that they need that expensive of shoes? WOW! Enjoy the corned beef :)
Lacey: Enjoy the rain and the book!! :)
Well, I am actually VERY surprised. I really/truly thought the soda would be my downfall to an increase in the scale. Imagine my surprise when it was DOWN a pound from yesterday!!! Not going to argue with it! I'm happy about the decrease and that it seems that I'll finally start losing again :) Next week (going to keep an eye on the scale first) might do a test to see if maybe peanuts make me retain the water. Gotta find what triggered that so I can avoid it :)

Brenda: Ha! I must of got your 'gain' from the soda! I got on the scale this morning, and was back up 1 -- sigh -- Oh well...
I am going to have a sip of that chocolate wine however. I will probably never get to try it again. It's only available once a year special ordered from a winery in New Mexico. :) I'll let ya know how it is. ::evil grin::
Alrighty, I gotta get back to getting things ready for my girlfriends arrival. I already had the weeks grocery shopping done before 8:30 this morning.. That was a bit of excersise. :)

But DANG I'm so cold I need to try that to get warm. Did a no-no for supper. Ate some of the cabbage salad from the other night. Wasn't thinking. I KNOW that stuff was loaded with sugar. UGH! Today I had my worst "low carb" day since starting this WOL in January. I gave myself permission to have a day off because we went to a baby shower and most of what there was to eat there was not on plan. We shopped for a present earlier and didn't have time for lunch before going so my daughter and I were hungry. I know I'm going to regret it in the coming week or so when the scale starts punishing me. Still when I started this thing I said I was not going to be a perfectionist, and there are occasions which are special. They don't come around too often.

AAAWWWW thanks Leenie
Sherry dust off the crumbs and stay OP drink the water and remember that you did not eat over 3500 cals above your daily metabolic rate which would be like eating 5000 cals (that is if it is 1 lb up) it is just water so drink drink drink and it will go go go.
Brenda Croned beef is the easiet thing to make. get a flat brisket, not the bumpy end pieces, if you feel it and there is a really large hard lump in it, it is fat so try to go for ones with less lumps. (meat guy told me that) stick it in a pot with water enough to cover it and then some and let it simmer for at least 4 hours, it has it's own flavor package. then about 30 min before you want to eat stick in the cut cabage 1/8 cut try to leave the core attached it is easier to get out. then enjoy!! I have done it in the crock pot before for 8+ hours not bad but not as good as when you do it that way (possible over cooked) same way to make boiled ham dinner, which will be on my menue soon. But be ware of the salt I went up 1 lb with the corned beef, so I have my pot of water with me.

Sherry: I think we've all been there done that. Just drink LOTS of water and get right back on the wagon. The thing about a day like that is the guilt just kills me and its really never worth it. I was out and about all day yesterday and there were temptations galore, but there were also low carb options which were great and made me feel good about the day and hopefully even better on WI day. Just don't make it a binge longer than a day.

Morning Girls:
Well I have to report that the chocolate wine was incredible. It is a red table wine with chocolate infusion. It's really just a hint of it... but you can taste it, and it was yummy! I did have a couple of roll ups that are thinly sliced, wrapped in flat bread. They were good, but other than that I stayed OP. The wine was my down fall. I drank half of that bottle myself. She brought 2 of them, but we only finished one. :D There were even cupcakes and I stayed away from them. They looked gross in fact.. see I don't have the problem with temptation. Just alcohol! LOL
Well we are expecting 2 feet of snow, so today is 'cuddle in the house' day. Have a good one guys.. I'm sure i'll check in later.

I really think wine can sometimes help with this diet plan. I've noticed losses on days after having a glass of wine. Notice I said a glass, not half a bottle!
Atkins himself in his book didn't outlaw wine or other alcohols. In fact I think a lot of us really don't do his diet in the way he laid it out. I know I never have really done the "ongoing weight loss" phase. I don't really stick to induction either, but I think most days my carb count is probably below 30, although I honestly don't know what my whatever he called it is. My ceiling for the amount of carbs I can eat and still lose weight.
I intended to follow his diet exactly as he laid it out when I first started, but then after that first week and a half when I felt so awful and cold and flu like and I ate a slice of bread to get out of that deep ketosis, I stopped losing for awhile at that point, and never really knew how to tell at what level of carbs I stopped losing.
One of these days I'd really like to do it the way he outlined. Do two weeks and really count the carbs, and keep them at about 20 and see what happens after raising them to 25,30,35 etc. The only problem is I'm lazy now and the idea of doing all that counting, looking up, tracking how many etc, is harder to do than just choosing to eat mostly low carb foods.
That's really how I do this. I eat lower carb veggys, meats, cheeses, sour cream, cream, and lower carb fruits like berries, splenda and mainly leave everything else out of my diet except for occasionally a glass of wine. (or a cheat).
I'm wondering if anyone here has actually counted and figured out where they stop losing? I think it would be so hard to tell, because my weird body doesn't always lose consistently even when I'm being VERY good, and sometimes loses after being very bad.
Still I'm curious about what others have done? Any of you found your ongoing weight loss level? and actually counted them to that level?
Falon

Sherry -
I agree with a lot you are saying here. I also wish I was structured enough to actually do the plan as it is meant. It's easy to just do it our own way, as long as we are loosing.
I am willing to give the structure a try. I know in the last thread that I said I would stay OP and do the fat fast to try and start loosing again, but I just don't think I could do it. Even as good as the potential loss sounds, I would have a hard time with the restriction.
After having the wine, I sure didn't see a loss on the scale. Yeah, I know half a bottle was a little to much :D but what I have decided to do is go ahead and carb up for 2 - 3 days, and then begin hard induction over. I really don't have a problem going back on it, and I don't have an issue with temptation, so I think it's doable. I wont have sweets though.. I might have some chicken and rice for lunch, but wont bake or have desert type stuff. I started with a piece of toast this morning, and man it made my stomach feel gross. I'm just going to see if I can pull this off! It's better than pulling out my hair.. LOL
I'll keep you all posted. I'm very determined to at least be down to 150 by July. I just can't stay at this stall. The whoosh just isn't coming.. and in my mind i've been very patient. Just my thoughts.
So, Sherry.. what i'm thinking about your post is - when I get back to induction is try it as laid out, and be very structured to see what happens.
SUSAN: Hope you guys are have plenty of food and water for this pending blizzard. We'll have to see if it's going to end up like 2003. Be safe! :^:

I have to laugh you guys are talking about drinking ......I was bowling thursday and when I left I got stopped by the police for turning on red, I asked him if I did not come to a full stop he said yes but there was no turn on red, then he asked me where I was comming from the bowling alley I said then he asked me what I had to drink. Oh I had a piture of water, he would not believe me, he asked me about 5 times different ways what I had to drink and when my last drink was. (Oh about 4 - 5 months ago) I almost called the bowling alley to have him talk to the bar tender. Next time I will have to tell him not to make it so strong!!! What he did not know was that I was driving a little irradicaly as I had to Pee really bad.
Susan Stay warm and cuddle!! have a good evening.
