Friday's finally here! :carrot: Can't believe that I'm on before Freaky. Freaky, are you sleeping in this morning? ;)
Not much going on in my world this weekend. No plans, except to just relax. At work, we're having a team lunch out today at Pizzeria Uno. It's been a while since I've been there, so I need to find their website and see if they have an online menu.
What's up with everyone else today/this weekend?
03-10-2006, 07:53 AM
Where is everyone this morning? Well hopefully everyone is taking it easy, looking at yesterday posts it looks like everyone needed it.
I finally got to sleep last night. I wish my cold was better but I guess we can't have everything.
DH is off today and Sunday. I am so excited. HE is never off on a weekend. We are going to take the kids to the movies and visit our best friend about an hour away. DH is off next weekend too, what am I going to do?
WEll busy day at work today,w ould love to call in and go to doc't and get an antiobitc but my boss would straggle me for sure.
Time to get my day started. Have a great day everyone.

We had two threads for friday..so I merged your post Mama with Jana's start up.. Now I gotta go fix some boo boos I did when I moved the post. Be back in a bit ladies!
03-10-2006, 08:33 AM
Good Morning! I decided to stay up this morning after the boys went to school.
I don't work until Sunday afternoon now so I"m glad about that.
A really sweet lady from work had the gastric bypass surgery on MOnday or Tuesday. As of last night, she wasn't doing so well. Her blood pressure shoots up every time she moves. I am not sure how serious this is but it wasn't sounding good last night. This woman is my age (40). Pray for her if so inclined. I might get to see her this afternoon. Actuallly, go to the hospital w/2 girls that I work with. I don't know if we'll actually see her or not. I am worried about her recovery.
It is still grey and rainy here in INdy. I'm still dreaming about court rooms.
I did order a special jacket for my sons b-day. It will have our last name embroidered across the back. It is the school colors and lots of the kids have them. I know he will love it and he will be so surprised!! His b-day is Monday.
Jana: Good LUck at PIzzeria Uno! Sounds fun.
Mamahulk: I hope your cold gets better soon. Glad your hubby gets to be around.
Schatzi: Good Morning!
03-10-2006, 08:56 AM
Hey chicks! Today will be a busy one, come to think of it, am I ever not busy??? Anyway! My TOM weight is starting to melt off finally and I'm feeling better now. My bf gets here tomorrow, can't wait. We haven't been getting along very well lately so hopefully this will be a chance to reconnect and put all that stuff behind us....and a chance for him to make up his disastrous v-day fiasco to me.
For the last few days I've been having this horrible internet debate about animal testing. I don't like it or that is even exists but as a scientist I know that it is necessary. And I also know that it is NOT the way most people make it out to be. There are strict regulations and procedures done according to ethical standards that all labs must abide by, at least those receiving goverment funding. I even had to take a seminar on animal ethics before grad school...and my research does not even use animals. People take the worst of the worst and then use some sad emotional PR campaign to make the public think it is the norm when it most certainly is not. And "people like me" are not all cruel animal abusing monsters. That was a direct quote.....and I don't, and never said I do, even test on animals in the first place. Some people just won't open their eyes and they live in ignorance thinking people who do that type of work are horrible barbarians who live to make animals suffer. They don't realize that most of the conveninces and necessities they enjoy in their everyday lives are direct results of such work. They have no qualms about seeking the best medical care for their pets or providing them (or themselves) with the highest quality nutrition available all the while looking down their nose at the very people and methods that allow them to have such things available to them. It's hypocrisy in its worst form IMO. The fact that I own rats makes it worse for me knowing how special these little guys are but when my Wallace was wheezing and gasping for air as a 6 week old baby I was sure glad that the technology was there to help him out. Ignorance and emotions can really screw up someones perspectives on things! Sheesh! Sorry, I just had to vent. I'm not used to being made out to be a horrible person. It upsets me even if it is just from people on the internet I don't even know.
So, anyway, I hope you gals have a fabulous day!!!

Good Morning Ladies
Thanks so much for your well wishes & prayers I really appreciate them.Sorry I haven't posted, but Wed & Thurs I was on the phone all day with family and friend trying to keep them updated on my Dear Hubbys condition.
The waiting period it the hardest. They started with the test last night and I will know the results today. This morning hes going for another test. I'm leaving for Boston Tomorrow morning as I could only find hotel resevations for the weekend and Monday. The hotel is right in the center of two hospitals [Childrens & Brigham&Womans.]Its for family & friends of Patients in the surrounding hospitals.
Depending of what the test reveal I'm planning to going back to that hotel on Wed-Mon of next week. I want to be with him on St.Patricks Day.
I will up date this post.
Hugs & thanks for your prayers

Good morning chickies. I'm so happy it's Friday. The weather is beautiful here, I snuck a peek on the scales and it's a beautiful day! :cb:
This weekend DH and I are going to the Drag Races. Everyone is bringing coolers of food and there will be no where to "cook" - I'm thinking about what to take - as I will be there for 2 meals! I know I'm going to take nuts, cheese, cold grilled chicken, veggies ..... Any other ideas?
I hope everyone has a good day. pearshape and beachbum and all other chickies. Have a great Friday!!

Debbie: What a great gift idea for DS! I do hope that poor dear stabilizes! Surgery of any kind has its risks --scary! :(
Pearsydew: I'm sure you and DBF will reconnect and find the qualities that initially attracted you to him again.. All relationships have their ups and downs

03-10-2006, 09:57 AM
Happy Friday everyone! A big hug  to all of you who need one.
I stepped on the scale this morning and I'm just teetering on the edge of having lost 10 pounds. :goodscale: I really want to go ahead and change my tracker, but I'm going to wait until it's more definite.
Today's the day! Happy anniversary to hubby and me! :val2: Five years ago today we said our vows. We're going to dinner and a movie tonight. Let's hope I can stay OP. It'd sure be nice to cross that 10 pound mark. Plus I'm almost done with phase one. I'd sure hate to blow it now.
Well, I've got to get to work. There's a pile of dishes in the kitchen that I've been avoiding. :o
03-10-2006, 10:05 AM
Freaky?? It was awfully starnge to l;og on this morning and not see your start- up post. Hope all is well.
Beach I have no great words of wisdom as I have no idea how you must be feeling. Know that we are all thinking of you and praying for your DH.
Weez How did the interview go?????
Jana Pizzeria Uno?? Hopefully they will have some good salad for you.
Mama Enjoy your family time! I hear you on DH working weekends. Mine does as well- he did have last Sunday off as well as this one. Our youngest is being baptized on Sunday.
Sipping on coffee trying to wake up. I wound up totally stress eating last night and feel like crap this morning. I did fabulously with my eating all day and blew it once DD went to bed. Today is a new day. :flow:
I take DD for her 9 month appt this morning. OF course there will be shots, but other than those I love to go to these appts to see where they are and what they should be doing. I am so much more relaxed with my 2nd child- with my first I was constantly checking several different sources to see if I was doing everything "correctly" and to make sure she was hitting all of her developmental milestones. I wish I would have just stopped and enjoyed it all more.
Sounds like lots of fun plans for the weekend! Sarah This would be the perfect time to go camping in Texas. The weather has really been pretty nice this week and the nights are nice and cool. That is something DH and want to get into. Once you purchase the equipment it is such a fun, affordable activity. I love the fact that it is pure, quality time.
Alright- I didn't hit my behavior goal of exercising yesterday- so need to pop in an exercise tape.
Adios mi amigas!
03-10-2006, 10:08 AM
Hoosier Happy Anniversary! :val2:
Schatzi My mom checked out Curves and said it was really fun. She is waiting to join, but thought it was a blast.
Okay- I am procrastinating......
03-10-2006, 10:17 AM
I'm finally getting around to checking in. It's such a beautiful day here that after Curves I sat out on the sunporch enjoying my breakfast and the sunshine. :sunny:
Beachbum ~ I must have missed your post RE your DH. I pray everything goes well for both of you.
Mamahulk, and the rest of you who gave me words of encouragement yesterday, Thank you. Mama, I especially liked what you said, "we just keep going". I know we've all been there, but it's hard to work so hard and not see results. I guess sooner or later it's going to happen, but these plateaus are NOT fun.
I'm picking up Maggie early from her nursery school, and we're going over to Audrey's school to watch her in 'Jump Rope for your Heart" fundraiser, then we're going out to lunch, the library, and the park. TGIF!
03-10-2006, 10:22 AM
Hoosiermom ~ Happy Anniversary!
03-10-2006, 11:15 AM
jana - I know I remember a post from a long time ago where someone talked about Pizzeria Uno and they had something that was OP. Hopefully you can find a menu.
mama - Sometimes I go to Primacare just so I don't have to miss work. It costs me more but it is worth it.
Debbie - Your friend has my prayers.
pear - Good luck with your BF. We know how much you love animals. It shows in everything you write.
MsCrockett - Good luck on the test.
beach bum - Your DH is in my prayers too. This must be so hard for you right now.
Kelly - Have a great weekend!
sarah - I love to camp and Kiko is right about it being good weather for it here. Of course, I do my camping with 30 cub scouts so it isn't exactly quiet and relaxing. ;)
ckb - I love the 3 bean salad for a cooler. You can also get those packets of Crab or Shrimp or chicken to have with it. Hardboiled eggs work too if you can keep them cold.
Schatzi - Have fun at Curves
Hoosiermom - Happy anniversary! My DH and I have our 10th next week and I don't think we will be going out for dinner (it's that lack of a babysitter thing) but I work from home that day and THINK I can get away long enough to go out to lunch. If not, I'll have DH go out somewhere nice and bring takeout home.
Kiko - Morning! I loved those appointments with Brian. And our ped is so good with kids!
me - I did good avoiding the food at Roundtable last night. They had wonderful looking chocolate cookies but I just kept remembering that I had given up chocolate for Lent. They had pizza but it didn't look that good and I had already had my Sloppy Joes, 3 bean salad and deviled eggs for dinner so I wasn't tempted. I did have a very small piece of lemon cake but that is a lot better than I could have done. I'm trying a new recipe with scallops tonight for dinner. It sounds good and I can keep the pasta separate for Brian (since he doesn't eat scallops).
03-10-2006, 11:35 AM
:cb:HAPPY NEWS-:cb: I just got the phone call.
DH is being released from the hospital today,He has to go for one more x-raye & cat scan and the doctor I guess will consult with each other[6 in a team] of what to do next.If he has anything to worry about, they will tell us whats next.
I lost 3 lbs this week as my indrinalin[sp]is running fast.
Don't really want to lose it that way.
Ladies-Thanks for your prayers, and being such good friends. Hope you can forgive me as I haven't had time to read your post but will over the weekend.
Hugs :) BB

Have a great OP day!
03-10-2006, 11:38 AM
That's great news beach bum! I'm so happy for you!!
03-10-2006, 11:44 AM
Good morning chicks. Haven't been around this week--horrid sotmach virus for 3 days, but at least I have lost 5 lbs. Feeling almost 100% today so hoping to get to Curves this afternoon and maybe quish in a walk. It's unusually warm here on Long Island today and I am looking forward to come fresh air. Then just some work today and over the weekend and some family time. Getting back to being beachy today after not being OP because of the sickness this week. Glad to be feeling normal again. Hope everyone has a great day.
Beach Bum--glad all is better with your hubby . I missed everything while I was gone. Hope all continues to go well.
03-10-2006, 12:07 PM
Good Morning Chickies,
Well I ate right on track yesterday but did not put in a workout or get near enough water. I think I need to break my weekly behavior goal into seperate goals focusing on one each week, I never seem to hit all three...
Today I have to work my at home job then do an article this evening for the paper. I have absolutely nothing to do after that. I need to get a workout in (doesn't this sounds like a doppleganger of yesterdays post)... On the upside hubby is down another half pound and doing great!
JanaM - not much up over here just trying to get things done...
mamahulk - I hope you get to feeling better
Debbie - what a great mom, I am sure your son will love it, I will keep that woman in my thoughts.
pear - just take their criticism with a grain of salt chica, after all there is no IQ test to get an internet connection, you could be arguing with a 10 yr old boy in Argentina for all you know...I too get ticked when people argue about things without knowing the facts.
sarah - sounds like you are coming out of your slump hun? I think some good old fashioned nature is just what the doctor ordered, have fun!
ckb - When I am on the go I bring the south beach or special k bars...
schatzi - We are opposites, I keep falling off the eating wagon...
HoosierMom - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! My Dh and I are going to have out one year annivesary next month...congrats on making it 5 years, I say celebrate!
Kiko - Get that exercise done early girl...at least that is what people say...mine has been lacking lately
cottage - sounds like you will be out in the beautiful outdoors all day, have fun.
Barb - Great job with the damage control last night...
Beach - that is great news!
soon - sounds like you are a busy bee today. I remembered what I was going to talk to you about - concealer!
lindy - welcome back! I am glad you are feeling better, I think stomach virus's are the worst type of sick you can be.
03-10-2006, 01:01 PM
OK good news and bad news:
The good news is that it was the best interview I've ever had in my life. The DM absolutely loved me, was "thoroughly impressed" by me, and thought I was the perfect candidate for the position.
The bad news is that the position isn't for here, it's for Champaign, which is an hour and a half away. I think the DM and I both left the interview sad. He is setting up a 2nd interview just because, but unless one of the Springfield stores loses a Store Director, I'm out of luck there. The pay was going to be decent, so I'm pretty bummed. After talking with the guy, he totally dug me and I really liked him and I think we would have worked together well.
So, maybe that was just a really good practice for a future interview? Motherhood just has to check my references and then call me about setting up an interview with their Regional Manager. I haven't heard anything but I'll call the DM on Monday. I guess we'll just have to see what happens. Hopefully Motherhood will pay as well if not better than Hollywood.
More praying. What will be will be. Deep breaths. I'm almost out of here, I can just FEEL IT!!!!
DH put in his two weeks today. He's getting out of manual labor and back into the medical field, which is what he got a degree for. He's going to be a phlebotomist II and lab assistant. The pay will be just about the same, but he'll be so much happier, which means he'll be more pleasant to be around. :D
Well, it's Grandparents' Day here at the school so I'm a little bit crazed. Yargh, and such.
So.... how are you all? Everyone excited for the weekend? I'm excited because the only work I have to do is teach one piano lesson Sunday evening. WOO HOO! Of course, tomorrow I need to go tanning, bake cupcakes, go to a party, work out, clean house, etc, but it's going to be a nice change from standing and preparing food for 300 people like last weekend.
Oh! Wish me luck.... I have given up chewing my nails for this wedding. It's a really hard habit to break, but I have two weeks (incidentally the dresses still aren't in yet) and I don't want to do the fake nail thing because I really hate wearing fake nails. I'm hoping my nails will grow to a nice length in time for the wedding on the 25th.
OK, almost time to serve pizza. Gotta run! Talk to you all soon!
03-10-2006, 02:11 PM
Hello, Happy Friday!
I ate well yesterday although I think I ate too much. Too many sunflower seeds, I'm glad they're all gone. I had a busy morning but I got my workout in (Tae Bo's Cardio Bootcamp) and I just sat down to my tuna over a big salad. I'm stuffed.
MsCrockett, good luck on the math. I can barely help my DD with her 5th grade math. Pretty sad.
Beach Bum - that's great that your DH has been released!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Hoosiermom! Enjoy your night out!
Have a great weekend everyone!
03-10-2006, 02:13 PM
oh good continued luck weezle, sorry the first one didn't totally work out.
glad to hear hubby is doing better Beach!!
Happy Anniversary Hoosiermom!!
There's os many mor to say hi to and conitinued OP success to you all...
I went to my second personal trainer appt today and we did legs. Holy crap, I think i shocked him with some of the things out of my mouth, shocked me, lol. When I left me legs felt like jelly...this had better work b/c they are tightening up now, whew...
oops looks like a little one jsut woke up so I'm off. I will be eating very OP today b/c yesterday I was fre and loose with breakfast lunch and dinner...can you say rice krispy treats???
03-10-2006, 02:43 PM
I thought of an idea for my on the go lunch tomorrow - has anyone eat any of the Kraft SBD wraps that you can purchase in the deli isle?
03-10-2006, 06:08 PM
BB~~That is wonderful news!! My prayers are with you both!
03-10-2006, 07:54 PM
Ok ladies...I need to get to the gym today. My good eating has rewarded me with some loss even though I have not been working out. But I do not know how long I can keep eating healthly lol...I need to find a blanace between working out and eating so as not to become a slave to either. So DH has to work tonight and I am going to drag my behind to the gym and put in as much Cardio as I can...wish me luck!
Weezle - I worked for Hollywood they are a good company and the free movies aren't bad either! Too bad about it being so far away. But at least you are getting interviews...thats usually the hard part. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
muffin - I need to learn to be like you and get my workut in early...
batmomm - they work you hard! I worked in a gym and saw numerous people who puked during the 'free session' with a personal trainer.
cbk - I have not tried them...The SB pizza's are good but those are not exactly on the go. How about you buy the ingrediants to make your own SB wraps...probably would be about the same amount of money but you could make more than one...
03-10-2006, 08:04 PM
Beachbum ~ That's Great news about your DH! I hope everything continues to go well with him. :carrot:
Weezle ~ What a letdown, but you sound pretty upbeat, anyway. Que sera, sera, and maybe God has something much better in store for you! I'm glad things have worked out for Terry.
ckb ~ I have used those SB wraps in emergencies, and they're pretty good. They are high in sodium, though, so Beware. They aren't something you would want to have on a regular basis because of all the added ingredients in them, even if they are SB.
Soon ~ I get the biggest kick out of your experiences at Curves! I've been telling the people at mine about yours, and we all get to giggling that we can hardly do our workouts!
We had a great day today, the weather was (and still is) gorgeous, and when I got home, Jake was all ready to take me out to dinner! :D I had grilled tilapia with a black bean salsa and a vegetable medley, but then I ordered a "Maple Butter Blondie" for dessert. :o :dizzy: :o
03-10-2006, 08:08 PM
Just got home from work and catching up on the posts....
Beach - That's great news about DH! Praying you will keep getting good news as the consultations go on.
Hoosier - Happy Anniversary!!!!!
Pear - Hope you have a great weekend with the BF. Sorry that you had to deal with all the crap with the animal testing stuff. Unfortunately, some people have tunnel vision when it comes to their own agenda.
Sarah - Have a great time camping this weekend!
Weezle - Sorry that the job didn't work out the way you'd hoped. But, that's fantastic that the interview went great. You're right - it's interview practice for the next one.
Stephie - I hear you on the goals. I didn't even post them this week because I knew this would be a week I wouldn't stick to them. I'm going to focus on exercise for the next two weeks and then add on another goal if I can get the exercise habit down.
Lunch out at Pizzeria Uno was great! I couldn't bear the thought of having another salad , so I went the surf & turf route. Grilled steak & shrimp with steamed broccoli. Yummy! I know, I know, not the best on the veggie count, but considering some of the other things I wanted to get (PIZZA, PIZZA) I feel pretty good about the choice.
Everyone have a great weekend!
03-10-2006, 09:24 PM
Hi finally checking in even though we get off early on Fridays. Hope everyone had a good day.
Jana-Glad to hear your pizzeria lunch worked out.
Debbie-Sorry your friend isn't doing well after surgery. Hope she gets better.
Pear-That sucks that you've been getting attacked for your views on animal testing. Some people just don't understand it isn't all inhumane & I suppose it's these same people who would be the first to throw a fit if they had a reaction from some drug or product they used that didn't undergo enough testing & then they had a reaction too.
BeachBum-Glad to hear DH is on the mend.
Sarah-Have fun camping.
CKB-Have fun at the races.
Schatzi-How did you like Curves? I really like mine...it is so convienent. I have so little time in my day and it only takes me 30 mins. Speaking of which need to head there tonite.
Barb-Good job on using your willpower at Round Table. I'd love to hear about your scallops recipe. I love scallops too but DH won't touch them with a ten foot pole.
Lindy-That stomach virus is the pits isn't it?? I had it last week just before I started South Beach.
BatMom-Your leg workout reminded of an experience with a class I used to take it was 1 hour nothing but plies, squats, lunges and crunches. I used to think of nasty names to call that instructor too;) And I can remember days when I first started that class, that the next morning I'd be sitting at work and then I'd feel my thighs suddenly give a little quiver too.
Weezle, Fab, Cottage, Stephie, Kiko and Everyone else...HI
Me.. I, Went out for a late lunch with DH and had a sirloin steak with onions & mushrooms on top and a caesar salad. We're just going to do a light dinner...maybe a soup from the recipe index?? It is drizzly and by California standards cold here today. They are predicting snow tonite, tomorrow and possibly Sunday....BRRRRRRR. So after my leisurely lunch I found myself hauling in firewood and rounding up old towels and baskets for the many cats that reside on our property. They are mostly feral so I can't bring them inside (my dogs would love that) but, I won't let them freeze their tails off. Looks like I'll be spending the weekend burning firewood and cleaning...weather is fit for much else:) Right now I have an overwhelming desire for a nap.
03-10-2006, 09:34 PM
You all seem so supportive. I'm new to this board but not new to 3FC. Tried SBD last summer and was successful and felt great, so back on board.
