General chatter - The part of *ME* that I love most...

03-05-2006, 09:19 AM
As we are all dieting/changing eating habits, we talk about NSV's, weight, goals, sizes, ect.... But I thought I would start a thread about what we LOVE about ourselves, whether we are heavy, thin, or in the middle. I will start.

I LOVE my eyes, my complexion, my overall attitude since I started getting healthier, and my new outlook on my future. I LOVE that I am NOT a "fatmom" to my 3 kids and that they shouldnt ever be imbarassed about my size. I also love my SMALL waist (29.5 right now).

03-05-2006, 09:29 AM
I love my complexion, and I love the fact that I have green eyes. My father has hazel eyes, so I guess that's where I got it, but I have no gold and no blue--my eyes are GREEN. And I LOVE that!

I also love my hands. Long fingers, curved nails, graceful drape...ahh... ;)

03-05-2006, 09:51 AM
Now that I can see it, I love my collarbone!!!

I love going to ballgames and my daughter rushing over to me instead of bowing her head that her mom is the fattest person in the bleachers.

I also love the new outgoing me who always wants to be going somewhere and doing something!! :carrot: :carrot:

great thread!

I love my unusual greenish/bluish/grayish eyes that change color depending on what I'm wearing and the light I am in. I also love my long legs. They are just going to get better and better as I lose weight.

(Does anyone else feel weird about saying nice things about themselves???)

I love my hair, especially since I started using the Brilliant Brunette shampoo by John Freida! It's brought out all the natural highs and lows in my hair and made in incredibly soft and beautiful. More that once I've been complimented on my hair :D Not now, though. I'm in desperate need of a good haircut

My lips/smile. It's the one thing that people always notice about me. I'm almost always smiling, so it's hard to NOT notice. I've been blessed with nice full lips, naturally straight and nicely shaped teeth, and I do my best to take care of them. I love them and it shows :)

03-05-2006, 12:25 PM
I love my legs. Espcially since I've been working out, my legs are incredibly toned, and they look great (lol if I do say so myself!!). I'm looking forward to the summer time so I can show them off in some skirts, and shorts (for the first time a very long time!!)

03-05-2006, 12:50 PM
Great thread idea!

Definitely my green eyes and naturally thick wavy hair. I also like my height, 5'8". I think 5'10" would be absolutely the perfect height but I'm happy with my 5'8". Part of me that I used to hate but now love is my new waistline. At 25 inches it's a part of me that's definitely SMALL now and I love it!

03-05-2006, 01:03 PM
I have green eyes too!
I've been watching this thread all morning and admit that I've struggled with it. I even did the naked in the mirror thing.
I actually don't mind my body (now). My shoulders are finally wider than my thighs :)
This is gonna sound funny, let me see if I can explain. If I have a stubborn pocket of fat, it's on my belly. But I actually like my abdomen. I can easily see that there is musculature under there (now). For an old lady with three pregnancies and c-sections ... it's encouraging.

Quirky - my eyes are like that too - I don't think I have ever met anyone else who has them. Isn't it cool? It is hard to tell people what your eye color is.

I really like the color and tone of my hair (Lydia - thanks for the tip on the shampoo - I think I'll try it). I also like the fullness of my lips and the shape of my face. I like the general propotions of my body - I just want to make everthing smaller.

If I had to choose something physical, I'd choose my hands. I like them even without polish. No wrinkles, no veining, no oversized knuckles. I have long strong nails and nailbeds (I've been told that by every manicurist I've seen). And they're very expressive. I gesture with them all the time 'cause I like 'em!

That and while I'm not so fond of my skin (far too many tiny little skin tags), I'm virtually wrinkle-free. No crows feet, no little lines around the lips. My forehead doesn't even wrinkle when I raise my eyebrows. It's genetic; no one in my family, female or male, has wrinkles.

Not bad for a 50-year-old. I wonder if that will change when I get further down in weight -- will I wrinkle up?

It feels so weird to think abut physical things I like about me. I spend so much time thinking about the things I'm not so fond of (much longer list).

I have eyes like that, too!!

Great thread idea! :hat:

Yes, Quirky... I totally have trouble with this. The stuff I hate immediately comes to mind...

I love my smile and my hair.
If I had all of your good stuff on me, I'd be such a babe. :lol3:

Lena, you sound much younger... :D

Lena, you sound much younger... :D

I feel much younger! I've always been a kid at heart, I think. I try to keep a positive mental attitude. Keeping up with my teen has helped a lot, too. We share a lot of interests and get along really well.

Or maybe I'm just immature...

I love my back. I always hated it before, but it has responded to training first, it has definition, now no love handles, and I love wearing backless tops.

I love my arms and shoulders, they look really good now. Once I was doing weights and saw a glimpse of arm in the mirror and looked behind to see who it belonged too, and it was mine!!!!

I love the fact my boobs stick out further than my stomach and I am not one continuous line anymore.

(my new years resolution was every month to focus on one positive change in my body !!!!)

03-05-2006, 04:05 PM
I love my calves! They are so muscular and I even make a point to shave my legs so that I can enjoy then more. :o

My biceps are a close second. Gotta love those weights! ;)

It is really hard to look past what we don't like and force ourselves to be nicer to ourselves. It's easier to compliment someone else instead of ourselves.

I like my hair and eyes. My hair is very thick and very curly. It's everywhere. I also have very dark brown eyes. Someone said that they are "cow eyes", which was supposed to be a compliment.

Normally I don't like my nails, but my manicurist friend said that they are beautiful, I just need to learn how to shape them there's hope. I'm also a fan of my arms since i"ve started lifting and my upper abs.

03-05-2006, 07:00 PM
I love my hair!

03-05-2006, 07:31 PM
I am glad you all liked this thread, I figured it isnt something we usually do for ourselves, and lets face it, isnt getting healthier ultimately for US?

03-05-2006, 07:37 PM
I love my hair. (Even though its not its natural color);) I also love that my body allows me to move and exercise freely. I spent some time being pretty immobile before and after a surgery. You realize how lucky you are to be healthy when you have one of those spells. I also love my calves and the nice cut in that muscle.

03-05-2006, 08:50 PM
Good thread! Great responses! I especially like my nose, my eyebrows, my ankles, my fingers and my smile. And I noticed my reflection today and was kinda shocked by what I saw - I did a double take! My butt actually looked proportionate to the rest of body - or maybe it's just that DH has been telling me that it looks good for awhile now?:D Anyways, it's been a struggle and so easy for me to dwell on the things I dislike about my body also. I'm working on not dissecting my body all the time - I've been doing it for years - there's always been way more "I hate this...". Recently, for me it's more about making peace with the body I have today and valueing myself just the way I am right now - all while I am working towards being the best and healthiest I can be. I have 2 little girls and I don't want them struggling with negative body image in the same way I have. I don't want life to revolve around the F-word (fat) for them.

Like Brandy said, I'm so thankful for all the things my body lets me do and that it's getting stronger. Even after all the years of abusing it. I'm excited about the changes I'm seeing all over.

03-05-2006, 09:04 PM
I love my legs - I rarely have to shave them (hair is scarce there to begin with)

I love my height - 5'8

I love that I am a "teen" at heart & (even tho I have teenage boys).. they are always asking me to chaperone so that I may really show the other kids how to dance and was told by their friends that they wish their moms can be cool like me.

I love my curves - even at my size now, I am complimented at how my curves stand out like POW (I take it that's a good thing.. I hope) :^:

and last.. I love my sense of humor. ;)

03-05-2006, 09:07 PM
What a GREAT thread!

I too am one of those that has eyes that change colors depending on what I am wearing. I love my eyes, my hair, my hands, feet, smile, sense of humor and how young I feel! I also love the way I feel when I eat right and exercise.

Thanks for this thread!

LOL Liz....

I like my eyes, nose, & mouth my collar bones & my hip bones that I can now feel, my legs and my feet. It’s the rest in-between that’s still a work in progress. Someday I hope to be able to say I like everything about me ...hehe

03-05-2006, 11:42 PM
I like my eyes b/c they are green and I often have red hair (hehe) so I get to pass as Irish.

I love my muscles. THey are everywhere! My butt, thighs, calves, biceps. You can actually see a line down the outside of my thigh even at my current weight!

I love the shape I am/will be. I'm definitely going to end up an hourglass. As I've been losing I can see my waist and upper abdominal area thinning out.

03-06-2006, 04:49 AM
I'm vain...

I like my eyes, which are a very dark brown, and my lips that are full and nicely shaped. I like my hair, which is incredibly thick (I can't use normal hair barrettes & such, nor about 50% of the stuff made specifically for thick hair) and down to my waist and has a nice wave and is naturally so dark a brown many mistake it for black.

I like the curve of neck into shoulder into arm. I like my collarbone, the shape of it under my skin. I like the shelf my hips create under my waist. I like my calves. I've got genetically good legs. Seriously, no matter how lumpy & dumpy the rest of me gets, I've got legs that earn second & third looks.

I like my breasts, 'cause they're a major food source. Breastfeeding rocks. :D

I like my hands because they are big and square just like my sister's, and my niece's, and my daughters.' In fact, if I had to pick one thing, I would pick my hands for that very reason, and because it is with my hands that I create things--stories and crocheted things--and it is with my hands that I hold my daughters.

03-06-2006, 10:37 AM
I love my dark brown eyes, my full pouty lips, and perfect (because I wore braces forever) smile. I love my breasts really full, and small waist, I also love the muscles in my calves, (from running) and my tiny size 5 feet!! Also my hands they are really petite, and beautiful as well!! :) What a great thread!!

03-06-2006, 10:53 AM
I Love the fact that I have almost no facial wrinkles (probably because the fat keeps the skin tight) and almost no gray hair (good genes on both sides of the family) at 63.

03-06-2006, 12:17 PM
I like my hair, my nose, my shoulders, and my butt. Strange combination, huh? My hair is naturally blonde and curly, although I dye it because it's an ugly dark blonde naturally. My nose is small and cute and doesn't have any ugly bumps or anything. My shoulders are strong, muscular, and pretty fat-free. My butt isn't flat and well, as the song goes, "I like big butts and I cannot lie" ;)

My friend says I have really nice hands, too, but I think they're kinda pudgy. Oh well, I'll take the compliment anyway!

03-06-2006, 03:21 PM
I like my braests, both because they are full nd because I was able to nurse three children.
My calves are great, always had some definition, even at my heighest weight.
I love my smile because I can make others smile.

Great thread!!!

03-06-2006, 06:07 PM
This is such a great thread, since most of the times people just focus on what they are lacking..

Anyways, I love my hair, complexion, eyes, eyelashes, and my personality.

03-06-2006, 09:11 PM
I love my thick dark hair
I love my big brown eyes
I love my neck
I love my sense of humor
I really like my freckles

Now that I've gotten healthier, I love all the energy I never had before. If I hadn't changed my life, I wouldn't be able to keep up with caring for an infant. Truth is, if I were still living the life I was, I'd probably have never had my son in the first place.

Same here! Except mine tend to be brown/gray/green. No matter what color I say they are when asked, someone says "No they're not; they're...." etc. I always just say hazel. My mom swore (and I remember too) that when I was a kid they were just usual brown eyes.

03-07-2006, 09:12 AM
I like my hair and my ankles. It's everything else in between that I'm sketchy on. :lol3:

LOL techwife!!! I like my legs as they are very slim compared to the rest of me. Also I have a little tiny butt that almost disappears when I lose weight. The front part of me... now that is a different story!

This is a very theraputic thread. Some of the posts, like about "full breasts" make me look down and wish for what I do not have, but others make me think "Oh yeah, I like that about me, too!"

I do not like my ankles. They are very thick and do not taper at all when entering the foot. I cannot wear anklets. All this is a bit of an issue with me I also realize that my ankles are strong and allow me to work out, to lift, to push, to stand...

My feet are size 9, but anything smaller would look funny on me...
It's a matter of looking at the negative and turning it around. As I see posts of people I am envious of, they may have things that they are envious of that I have.

Also, it's an issue that if you had three people describe you, you'd get three different responses. Ways of never looking at yourself. This thread goes deeper than just "what I like about me"

03-07-2006, 07:21 PM
I like my hair and my eyes. And i've been told I have a very nice smile. I like the color of my skin. I like how my muscles really want to be big! I think i'm very lucky in that respect - not alot of weight lifting will get me a lot of muscle!
