Alternachicks - March Alternachick chat

Glad you are feeling good today Tani! (see end of February chat thread)
Today is nice and sunny but pretty cold (-20 with the wind) - not sure if I will going out for a walk today or not.
03-04-2006, 12:48 AM
Well this evening bites big time! I had tickets to go see a concert and it got cancelled at the last minute :( But at least we can get a refund.
We went out to dinner instead and saw Ultraviolet - it was pretty good. I was expecting a nonsense plot, lots of fight scenes, a lot of fancy camera work and Mila Jovovich kicking butt while managing to look stylish the whole time - and that's what we got

Well... Today was busy.. I cut 22 ppls heads. UGH... But I made okay money. My bf made me mad cause he wanted to start playing d&d twice a week instead of the one night I allow him to play.. He is just makin me soo mad.. Cause he cant see what the big deal is.. I fiannlly got saturdays off after 4 years and he has to be at his D&D game at 6pm and likes to go earlyer and he stays out till 2 in the morning sooo.. I dont want to have to deal with that 2 days a week. Cuase i cant sleep till he comes home cause I worry (I am a huge worry wart) about him gettting hit by a car or somthin...Ugh And my house is dirty cause I am tired of cooking and cleaning...
Chlorform, tell you're bf that my husband says he should be overjoyed that he gets to play once a week ;) We both play, but about twice a month.
We have to take my poor kitty into the vet this morning. I'm really worried. What I thought was just a random kitty stomach thing obviously isn't, she's not able to keep any food or water down. :( Spare some warm fuzzies for my fuzzy if you will.

I've recently lost a beloved furbaby - and I hope that yours will recover soon. I miss mine badly and I wish that I could curse each and every speeding car that goes down my road :( . I hope the vet's visit will cure whatever ailment your lil furry one is having.

chlor - I swear that statement could have been made by me. I wonder if they play in the same game. it's so annoying. every friday night he leaves at 6:30 and doesn't come come til 1 or 2 am, and like you i have to stay up til he comes home.
i so don't get the whole D&D thing, though I did enjoy the PS2 games we played based on them. I try to be tolerant but i find it really hard when he goes almost every week. if he started going more than once a week i'd have to start administering some beatings. *L*
i get in that same mood too, nobody cares if i clean so @#^% it. and then i can't stand it anymore and i clean and am even more angry because nobody helps me. it's hard to get out of that mindset.
03-06-2006, 08:18 PM
Yeh.. He played saterday also.. He didnt get home to about 3 or 4 and didnt come to bed till around five.. Which is soo sucky becuase I wake up when he comes in and I have to get up at like 8 to go to work.. :( blah... I wish he would play somthing more active.. I would play but I dont want to have a commentment every fri and sat night what if one of my friends wants to do somthing random.. I cant wait till I lose wieght because I LOVE roller coasters and theme parks... Mostly in the winter cause its nice and walking around looking at all the stuff. But what if like when I lose this weight and want to go dale has to play his stupid d&d and doesnt want to go. Blah.... He really needs to do somthing active.. I am trying not to be obsesive about it cause I get that way.. Sunday wasnt that busy but as it always is with working with 14 women (only 5 on sunday) DRAMA crazyness. Blah.... Well So much to do not enought time or money...

Chloriform - my DH stays up until 1 or 2 a.m. playing City of Heroes on-line almost every night while I go to bed at 11 p.m. It's annoying because I am a light sleeper so when he comes to bed I wake up and then can't get back to sleep.
But I look at it this way, he doesn't drink, do drugs or stay out until all hours of the morning with me not knowing where he is so I don't really mind him playing a game.
He used to rehearse two nights a week with his band so on those nights I took dance classes or went out with my friends it kept me busy and stopped me from being resentful because he wasn't home. Maybe you could set up a night out with your friends on the days he plays D&D or try to get a compromise of one Saturday per month he goes on a date night with you and skips D&D.
Tani - hope your cat will be okay :grouphug:
Thanks for the kitty well wishes :) They've run a million tests on her and had her on an iv during the day for the last 2 days to rehydrate her. The problem seems to be her liver. The good news is that she seems to be responding to the fluids and antibiotics. I actually got her to eat some canned chicken last night and drink lots of water. Hopefully they won't have to put her back on the iv this morning.
Man, its hard to look more pathetic than a sick cat in a cone collar with a shaved belly.
The other good news is that though I was sorely tempted, I didn't in fact consume all the sugary goods in my house over the last two days.

Hi Alternachicks --
I've been lurking for a while...back on SBD and back here on 3FC. Good to see some of the same Alternachicks -- Mauvais still holding down the fort so to speak, lizziness here too and hangin' in there.
Just wanted to say hi and check in...and also to tell Tani that those before and after pix are awesome! Very inspiring. And, I am sending good vibes to your kitty -- despite the fact that I am the "Bird Lady" I am a real cat lover too with a 7 year old Siamese mix.
Catch you all later.
03-07-2006, 02:32 PM
welcome back birdlady! :)
i think mauv has the right of it, to get out there and do something. i've spent the last few years annoyed at him going out to play D&D and being addicted to the mmorpg's (yes, i'm lucky, i get both *LOL*). I'm learning to just deal with it and know that it's something he enjoys that it isn't something against me personally.
I'm still working on the finding something to do part though. *L* Hard when you don't have a car and the most social you get is posting here. :) Actually, I now have a date on friday nights to call my family through google talk. we get to talk for free, the connection is better online than over the phone because they are over seas, and it's fun to get to catch up with them.

Welcome back socalbirdlady! Hope you've been keeping well :)
03-07-2006, 06:07 PM
Welcome Back SoCalBirdLady!
The closest thing I get to all those games is my best friend (the boy, as I normally call him) keeps trying to get me to play World Of Warcraft. He figures it is a good way to spend time together since we live on opposite coasts. So far I just keep saying no.
03-07-2006, 10:17 PM
squeak - good for you! i feel the same. hubby keeps trying to get me to play too but i am not having it! i can't sit at a computer that much in my off time, i do it all day when i'm at work! i played for like an hour one night with his help and just wanted to run away. painful!!
at least they offer to play with us. some don't even do that. i guess we're somehow lucky? *LOL*
03-10-2006, 01:04 PM
so here we were talking about planting and spring coming, and what happened? it snows! in eugene, oregon. that just doesn't happen! and i am going to a home and garden show this weekend... and i was thinking of making some little planter boxes for my balcony. tsk. snow. in march. in eugene... it's just wrong. :)
hehehehe I know! I'm up in Seattle and had to bike downtown through mixed hail and snow yesterday afternoon. I'm waiting for the rain of toads now :p
03-10-2006, 01:44 PM
yeah, no kidding. it's funny how cities in the pacwest treat snow like the end of the world too. everything closes. it would be nice to get like a few feet and then i wouldn't be able to get to work on sunday. a girl can hope. apocolypse or working on sunday... yeah... i think i'll take the frogs. :)
03-13-2006, 12:25 PM
 We still have snow on the ground here and are expect a bit more before March is through. We've been known to get snow in April!
Still, I remain ever hopeful by flipping through my gardening books for inspiration :)
We had a gorgeous day here on Saturday - very springlike :sunny:
03-13-2006, 02:33 PM
okay, so the day after the snow - it was sunny and warm and has been for the last few days. oregon is so confusing!
i did get myself some seeds and some little planting pods in a mini greenhouse thing, once they get bigger i can put them in a pot and hopefully it'll be warm enough by then that they will be okay. I sure hope so. i have had the worst lucky with plants the last few years.
my sis in law made me a beautiful planter w/ herbs in it and gave me a spray bottle of water for it. i confused my water bottle with my orange clean bottle and.. well... they never stood a chance... *LOL*
03-13-2006, 11:06 PM
You need sound for this - hilarious! :lol3:
03-14-2006, 08:06 AM
OMG! That was awesome! How did you find that?
I sent it to the gamer guy in my life. :)
03-14-2006, 10:01 AM
My hubby sent it to me!
03-14-2006, 10:17 AM
That video is funny it reminds me when I was living with guy roomates and my boyfriend.. They had the x boxes set up in 3 differnt rooms to play halo... :( i wasnt happy I was trippin over cords every were. They had them all hooked up together so they could kill each other. I wanted to kill all of them..
03-21-2006, 08:10 AM
The 2 gamer boys I sent the video to loved it! :)
Just a catch up while I have a few minutes -
Work has been busy, but good. I organized a team lunch for last Friday too. It went well.
My nephew gave us a scare last week. He was sick, with a temp of 101. His lips started turning blue, and his chin & lips were shaking. My sister called the doctor, they said to call 911, it may be a seizure. As it turns out he wasn't having a seizure, he was fine, except for the fever of course. He liked the ambulance ride and wants "one more good ride". I ended up with him for part of the weekend, and we had a blast. He is just so cute, and getting so big. I can't believe he is going to be 4 this summer.
I am doing OK on the March challenge. I haven't lost much, but I haven't gained either. :dizzy:
I am thinking about getting a 1GB Nano as a "Happy Bonus" present, since we get our yearly bonus in Feb., and I haven't done anything special yet. Does anyone have one? How do you like it?
03-23-2006, 10:12 AM
Phew! Glad your nephew is okay Squeak, what a scare!
I've been feeling like crap lately, sick with the cold, fed up with my slow progress in losing weight etc. etc. I've decide I really need to get in gear to reach my goals by August. No more excuses! :drill:
On a good note it is a lovely sunny day here and the weather is warming up, the ice and snow are melting so I will be more inclined to go out walking in the evenings now. :)
03-24-2006, 06:05 PM
Winter? Oh, yeah, I think we had a couple of days of that... I'm not bragging, honest! ;) It's too flipping hot here: we get Hurricane Summer, Summer Light, and Mostly Not Summer. (There is no Spring, there is only Zool!) Mostly Not Summer can get cold, like 40ish, but the next day it could be 80ish. Bizarre.... I've always wondered how rough it must be to be a pagan here. You can mark the solstices and such, but there's no real change of season, unless you count green and brown.
Oh... hi... I'm Lala. I thought I'd come hang out for a while.
03-25-2006, 02:36 PM
heh funny you say that.. i was thinking today now that it is "spring" that we changed the icky winter rain for the somehow less icky but still icky spring rain.
stupid pacwest and its rain and rain and more rain.
i lived in washington and we moved on the 93rd consecutive day of rain. i love wa but give me a freaking break! up there it's worse, we have winter from spet to march, less winter bit of spring from april (but it can still snow) til july, then we have about 3 weeks of autumn then it's right back to winter.
03-27-2006, 10:17 AM
Well today is a gorgeous spring day! Sunny with bit of a cool breeze but boy it felt good to walk in the sun this morning :)
I went out for dinner and drinks with my girlfriends on Saturday and had a blast! We went to a martini bar where you had to be 25+ to get in so no underage highschoolers or university students on a bender (the legal age here is 19) - also it wasn't too meat market and everyone there actually dressed up! I did not see one single guy in a baseball hat!
They also had a dance floor and a pretty good dj
I haven't been out clubbing for a while so it was a lot of fun - :D
Catching up finally, I spent most of the last 2 weeks flat on my back after throwing it out. Three trips to the chiro, 2 trips to the regular doc, and one physical therapy session and I've finally returned to the land of the wanting to live. (phew!!) They say I've actually developed scoliosis in my lower back, so I'll be continuing with the physical therapy to help correct that.
Mauv, my husband sent me that video too, hehehehehe. I love it.
I also love the idea of a 25+ bar, that sounds blissful :D We went out Saturday night for the first time in forever to see Sisters of Mercy. We saw them the last time they were in the States, 8 years ago. It was so fun to get dressed up and see everyone dressed to the nines.
Oh, and my kitty is improving! They started her on a new medicine that really seems to be working. She's eating on her own and maintaining her weight now. Now I'm just trying to put a few pounds back on her. (Too bad I can't give her the two I gained while I couldn't exercise!)
03-28-2006, 10:32 AM
Glad that your kitty is getting better :) but sorry to hear about the scoliosis :grouphug:
03-28-2006, 03:18 PM
Hey all - been lurking about -just not much to say lately (very odd for me since chatty cathy was my nickname at one time)
Anywho - Tani so sorry about your back - did they say what caused it or is it genetic? As in it didnt matter that you were exercising etc? That really sucks to lose all that weight just to develope back problems after the fact.
Glad the kitty is better.
Hey to everyone else - I thought we were going to have a pretty day today but now it is clouding up and it may be thunder shortly.
Last night my friends daughter age 14 and two of her friends stayed in my cabin - they did it before on Sarahs bday last sept. and had so much fun wanted to do it again for spring break. Too funny - no kids of my own but I attract other peoples kids like strey cats. LOL
