Thanks Ruth! This is my first day on the SBD and I did wonderful. I even ate at Red Lobsters to celebrate my MIL b-day and I stuck with the plan :).

I would say that the most difficult part of the day was when I had to pick all the croutons out of my salad (I like croutons and anything crunchy). Hopefully, I will hear from others who are doing Phase I.

We can do this!!!!!!!

Okay, I guess this is the place to start over. I got down to my goal weight on South Beach a year and a half ago, but started slipping and sliding my way back into the bad carbs and have regained over twenty pounds.

Reading these boards has inspired me to remember how good it felt to be healthy, energetic, and able to fit into all the clothes in my closet!

Tomorrow will be Day One for me. Maybe with the support and tips to be found here, I can get back on track and stay there!

Hello Sundancerk. How much are you trying to lose and what helped you the most to lose the weight?

I've been off program for a while now, so I'm going to restart phase I tomorrow too. I pigged out on pizza at lunch today without a second thought. When I got home I realized that was the last straw and need to get the eating under control. I'll weigh in tomorrow morning and see if I gained any back. Good luck to us all!

Hello Sundancerk. How much are you trying to lose and what helped you the most to lose the weight?

Hi! Well, I'm trying to lose 26 pounds--that would put me back at my goal weight of 130.

What helped me the most was just sticking it out past that first two weeks of Phase I. Once I really had the carbs out of my system, the craving truly did pass, just like they said. I was quite a skeptic before; I've been a sugar addict all my life!

Other than that, I just tried to keep a lot of ready-to-eat veggies on hand, already cut up and washed, for when the munchies hit. And I drank of lot of water--I've really slipped up on that and have been drinking more soda than anything.

Several times during my backslide, I've thought, "I'll just give South Beach another whirl and take it off again", but I never committed to it like I'm ready to do now!

I am in a similar boat, though I sort of gave up before I hit my goal, plateued, and gained 6 pounds. Not bad for pretty much eating like crap for a few months, but still. I want to keep losing weight. I will hit my goal, dangit!

Good luck to you. :)

Hi everyone! I have been lurking for about a week now. I started last Tues. and did great until yesterday. I was down 4lbs. in phase 1 and had a sugar binge yesterday. (Not even sure why-oh yeah-pms) So, instead of quitting like I usually do, I will just keep going on p1 today. I felt so great on Sat. and then came the binge. Should I start over or just keep plugging on p1? This would have been day 6 for me. I have about 10lbs. I really need to loose but would like it to be 15 as a personal goal. I have been on every diet ever invented and really struggle with sugar and white flour. Thanks for any support!

Morning ladies. I'm restarting Phase I today. I've been way to lax the past few days and have fallen off of the wagon a bit.

Tchrmom - if it were me, I'd probably restart Phase I to get rid of the cravings.

Good luck to us all! :D

I started back on P1 last Monday and so far so good, I'm down 8 pounds and I decided to stop just reading these boards and post.

I did this before in the fall and lost about 50 pounds but gained 20 back over the holiday season...that is if you count the entire month of January where I felt sorry for myself and didn't try...better add half of February to that too, I better stop because I'm sound more pathetic with each keystroke :D

Anyhow, I'm here, I love this site, great info and great recipes, thanks!!

Well, I was going to restart P1 today just for a few days to get rid of the cravings...but I have a frozen SBD Pizza for lunch (which I had left at work last week), so I will restart tomorrow. I know that's a bad excuse, but there it is. I have really slid off program the past few weeks. But I'm glad SBD is a woe that if you do go off program, you can easily fix it and get back on the right path.

I also brought my workout gear to work so I can go to the gym right after work, which is another area that has been suffering. My goal this week is to work out 4 times. I am also very nervous about weighing myself today. It has been about three (very bad) weeks. But, I'm sure I'll be able to work though it with the support of this board :)

Have a good day and good luck chickies!!

Today was my first day on phase 1. Last week I read the book and made out my grocery list. Yesterday went shopping so all the foods were in the house and I would have no excuse for getting started. While searching on the net I ran across this website. Never have I done something like this...posting on a website. I thought what a great idea and support system. Looking forward to my success on this program, new way of living, feeling good about myself once again and eating...and hopefully me helping someone get through there day, while helping me to do the same. Thank you and look forward to more days of posting and support!

Hopeful - I am getting married in August as well! I won't try on wedding dresses yet! I have given myself till May.

I started Phase 1 on Friday. I did SB once about 2 years ago, before gaining 40 pounds. I lost a lot since August just calorie counting (and exercise of course), but come December and Finals I stopped losing and gained about 4 pounds back. I have been struggling getting back on track, so I thought I'd try something different and give SB a try again (I am also using fitday again, so calorie counting as well). I lost 13 on it the last time I did it, but only stuck to it for 6 weeks, unfortunatly I decided to stay on phase one all 6 weeks, that's why I got burnt out on it. I have lost 3.5 lbs since Friday, so I am totally stoked. 158 is the lowest I have seen in a long long time. I just wanted to say hello to you all, I usually stick to the 20 something's board, but I wanted to drop in here too.

OH and I forgot I have a question...I know it's not really about counting carbs, but how many carbs on average do you/are you supposed to intake. I know on Atkins it's like 20 or something, I just can't stay that low! I wondered if any of you counted calories/carbs like I do.

HopefulCA

I don't usually count carbs....just allow myself any of the "good carbs" that are on the okay list....then of course there are always a few carbs that will sneak in- but it takes alot of time to worry about a number less than 20! Just stick to it- you sound like you are doing well....

Congrats on getting married as well! Maybe I will check out the 20-something board....let's keep each other motivated okay?

Hello Countess!!! How long did it take you to lose the 50 pounds last fall? Did you also exercise?
It took about 2 months, however I have a lot to lose and I did exercise 5 to 6times per week (Curves and walking) and I drank LOTS of water.

Gosh, I feel like such a lazy bum...I have neglected my body for long enough...eating soo much junk it's not EVEN funny. I'm getting started back on the beach TODAY. I haven't even been trying to eat healthy or exercise in quite a while. I know when I was I felt sooo much better! Right now I'm just tired all the time. My work hours don't help with that either....I'm just gonna have to make myself make better choices with what I eat when I'm at work. I work from 2:30pm to 11:00pm and I have a really hard time waking up in the mornings. But, today is a new day! and I'm gonna run with it!
I appreciate the support you gals give on this site!
be talking to you lots.

Day 2....I have it set in my mind this will work if I work with it! Need to get exercise. It's pretty cold here right now so the thought of going outside isn't setting well with me. Thinking of getting on the treadmill and watching the ladies on "The View". I'm sure any kind of movement is better than nothing. Here's to willpower and determination to make a change in my life....:woops:

Schatzi - I know that you're really not supposed to count carbs I was just curious if anyone did, how many they were eating. I am following the food list exactly, I have the book and have read it twice now, so I know it's just about good carbs and good fat, just curious about the count. Oh also, haha, when you said "welcome all retreads" I thought it said "******s" and I was like, jeeze, how weird to say that!

Just as an update I was 157.5 this morning, so that's 4 pounds since Friday morning, I am way excited about that. Somehow I thought that I really wouldn't lose any fast, but I am happy I did. YAY!

Well, I use Fitday so know my carb counts on Phase II. I range from 60 to 150 per day or 1/3 of my calories. I am also aiming for 20-30 grams of fiber as well.

I stepped on the scale this morning and I've lost .5 pound...I'm trying to look at this as a major accomplishment and not focus on the other 99.5 pounds that remains.

I've done well the first day on the SBD and so-so the other two days. Today was a good day, this is what I've eaten so far:

Breakfast: Bell peppers, onions, shrimp, and egg omlet
Snack: Nuts, sugar free pudding
Lunch: Salad with blue cheese dressing
Snack: Nuts
Dinner: Rotisserie Chicken
Snack: Maybe a yogurt, I haven't decided yet :)

And of course WATER!

Hmmm.......I was just thinking...I'm sure that there are some helpful tips on this board on how to be successful on the SBD...guess I'll do a search...in the meantime I would like to hear what little handy tips are helping others.

Here is my tip: I found that buying several Rotisserie chickens, cutting them into 1/4 and freezing each piece individually in storage bags has been helpful.

Nine days on P1 and I'm not going to let myself cheat now and have to start these miserable 14 days over again!!!

The really strange part is...I'm not having cravings for illegal food, I'm having cravings for P2 food. Sometimes a girl just wants a slice of whole grain toast..with turkey bacon, lettuce and tomato on it ;)

Anyone have any comments on spaghetti squash? I bought one this week and just keep staring at it like, yeah, this is gonna be great....with a huge amount of sarcasm! I would loveeeee to hear your comments so that I am not setting myself up for a huge disappointment. Graphic details are encouraged: taste, texture, color, obstacles in making it, etc.
Thanks gals! Keep up the great work ;)

Yahoooooo another good day. Hmmm.......I have a taste for Chinese Food, where is that menu? Chop Suey and Egg Foo Yung sounds good...and they are still within the Phase I food group. This is truly going to be a way of life for me.

I haven't stepped on the scale yet, but I will on Friday.

Hopeful - I absolutely loved spaghetti squash. I too was very skeptical, but it was great. I made it with home made tomatoe sause. Make sure to cook it all the way, we had a huge one and towards the outter part was still kind of hard, but the rest was great. It's a tiny bit sweet, not like sugar sweet though. I liked the texture, not quite the noodle texture, but very close. The only obsicle was in the cooking, we should have quartered it instead of halved it to make sure it all got cooked with out the outter part getting squishy. If you can, get some of the seeds scraped out before you cook it. Overall I would tend to think you won't be disappointed!

On a side note, down to 156 today, that's 5.5 pounds since Friday, YAY!

Hi :) I was hoping I could join in.

I'm brand new to both the boards and to SB. Today was the start of Phase 1 for me. I'm getting married in 12 weeks and need to mix things up to (hopefully) take the last of the weight off. I've been cutting calories/portion size and walking almost daily since the first of the year and have lost (only) 7 pounds. I really could stand to lose another 10-15 to be comfortable in my gown.

Since I've been cutting my portion size, I feel like I'm overeating with SB. Does anyone else feel that way? I think it's because a friend told me I had to snack and I don't normally eat between meals.

I've done pretty well for the most part, but messed up this morning when I had carrots for my snack. :o I misread the "not allowed" for the "allowed". I didn't let it mess up my whole day, though and have done pretty well otherwise. Normally I'm a bread/pasta/fruit addict, so I'm sure I will start feeling the pain in a day or so. :)

I too, was successful on SBD the first time. I lose 15 pounds and kept it off for 5 months. After my wedding, I slowly let myself fall back into my old habits and have GAINED 20 pounds in 5 months. I just can't win. I've tried SBD again and have only made it until about 11:00am each day. Tomorrow is the day, though. I can do it again!

Hopeful, this was the first time I'd made spaghetti squash. I really liked it. Biggest obstacle was probably getting it cut in half lengthwise. LockItUp is right, it's just a little bit sweet, and it goes great with tomato sauce. The color is pretty yellow. The texture is fairly soft, and it doesn't come out in completely separate strands like pasta. It's more like it's been very finely shredded. I'll definitely be making this again!

I just made the Tex-Mex Pork Chops & Jicama Black Bean Salad (both in the recipes section) for dinner. :stir: Another winning combo in my book!

Okay, I did well until a little over an hour ago. I'm getting ready to get on the bike and hopefully peddle off the carb that I ate...even through it was whole wheat (whole wheat pancakes with sugar free syrup), but I know that it's not allowed on Phase I. Well back to day one tomorrow. I can do this :)!!!!!!!!
