GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Don't have time to post right now, have to get Michael off to school soon then come home for my walk, but wanted to make sure I got our MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM:
Look back on the day that has just gone by. It's likely that there were some disappointments. And yet you also made some positive progress.
The disappointments can take care of themselves, so learn from them and then let them go. Focus your attention on the positive things you've achieved.
It would be a shame to let them slip away. What can you do today to build on those things? Consider how far you've already come, and imagine how far you can continue to go.
You've already begun a pattern of success. Use today to build on that momentum. Latch on to your positive progress, no matter how small it may have been, and keep it rolling.
Focus on it, and it will grow. Find something positive about yesterday and make it even bigger today.
Keep building success upon success, accomplishment upon accomplishment. Soon you'll have a powerful momentum that can take you wherever you wish to go.
Ralph S. Marston

Here's one more I thought was worth sharing:
"The only thing that stands between a man and what he wants from life is often merely the will to try it and the faith to believe that it is possible."
- Richard M. DeVos

Good Morning All
Haven't been on and been very busy. Gone all weekend and very tired this morning. Don't dare touch that scale to see if I gained any weight over the weekend. I've been very unorganized lately and have to get back into my routine, it's been very hard to be motivated to even make a meal because of the humidity adn heat.
Need to go grocery shopping tonight and refill my fridge, I am running out of good food fast. Hope to catch up with everyones posts over the weekend. Been real busy at work too, so haven't had anytime lately.
Well gotta get back to work. Everyone take care and be good with meals.;)

Morning Again!
Got in my walk, it was a slow one at that, no jogs-nicely overcast due to impending rains, but the humidity is still at 90% Just wasn't in the mood to walk, esp. after stepping on the scale and seeing it up, yet again, but I figured after overeating yesterday I better go out. It doesn't help that it was all SB LEGAL, overeating is overeating. I realized though, it's almost mid-cycle for me, and usually I see some gaining, so I'm trying to keep a level head and chalk it up to that in hopes that soon it will start another downward trend. Seems like I just had my TOM and here I am going through another gaining period!
MELF, let us know how the Dr. appt went. You made me laugh I must say! With the pain I did give in to some dessert. Okay, did it make the pain go away??? I'll take the I couldn't resist, but I didn't know desserts were better than pain medication. You know, I'm just ragging on you;)
SEF, don't worry about missing church, seems MELF went for you yesterday;) You play Mah Jongg? My Mother use to play every week at her house with a group of women when I was little-never understood the game, no matter how she tried to teach me, I guess I had no interest. Now, she plays on the computer sometimes.
ROSALIE, hot and humid in Canada?? I thought you were having a coolish summer! Hope you can find a good deal on the net for a hotel-I totally agree, I like the comforts of home as well, unless it's really cool outside and no possibilites of intruders, I'd rather stay in a hotel than try my hand at sleeping in a tent. On your cookies, did you use a little less WW flour than the white that was called for-that may be the problem, or you could increase the liquids a little.
RALY, heat and humidity are bad here too, but the ulitimate decision on how you let it effect you is up to you. Of course, the whole board knows how I hate to cook and yet, I find it very easy to stay OP. Remember, excuses get you no where;) I hope you get back into gear and are able to get to the grocery store and stock up on what you need to help you stay OP. Youre' so close to goal, you don't want to start messing up at this point-look forward and see how easy within reach it is!!
I've got to run for now, vowed to do some cleaning today!
I'll check in later!

Good Morning!
I've missed ya'll. Well I've been on vacation but also I've been going through a tough time mentally. So I've gained back over my cushion. I'm determined to get back below that so I am taking my own advice and "Beginning Again".
It's interesting when I was answering the poll question I answered that I was over weight because I just love to eat. But that is only part of it. I tend to also eat as a happiness mechanism...not really emotional but to me a good meal, beer etc. is a good time. So this summer has been difficult because we love to go out on the porch...cook out...have a couple of beers and relax. I find that the alcohol though leads to over eating so I have given it up. I'm also going back to being very OP on SB. Hopefully, I will drop the pounds I have gained by being very very good. I also think I will start to feel better emotionally.
Here is my motivational thought for the day:
The most consistent thing about life is that nothing is the same, everything changes. If you can accept that, then you're OK. If you can't accept the fact that you can't control everything, then you get yourself in a rut."
--- Phil Jackson
Debbie: Glad to see you are still walking. It is humid here too. I've gotten back into the habit of walking again and actually went twice yesterday...once with the hubby and once by myself.
I will check in tomorrow. See ya'll.

It's Motivation Monday! Hi all, can't stay, but want to give you this motivation.
What major challenge, important goal or achievement have
you put off while you wait for the "right moment"? Don't
put it off another day! Start with baby steps, but move
in the direction you want to go. Exercise a little.
Save a little. Read a little. Tuck the kids in bed,
give your spouse an extra hug. Make one extra phone
call. Take action - safe, reasonable, cautious action if
you prefer - but take action. Take baby steps, and soon,
like Bill Murray, you'll be sailing!

Hello Again.
Deb- I can't get out because of my daughter. It's too hot:cool: to be taking her out in the heat like that for very long. It's in the 90's and 100% humidity and has been for a couple of days. Will be storming pretty good today and tomorrow here. No cool off until wednesday and can't wait. After work and doing the house and taking care of her it's about 8 pm and I get up at 5 to 5:30 am. So it's hard to find the energy by that time, I'm fine when it's not so hot, and with induced asthma the humidity makes it hard to breathe when working out. I workout alot in the spring, fall and winter time.
We're having a party this weekend for the exchange student for her b-day on saturday. So more people at my house and my house will be trashed again. Never a minute to relax at our house we are either going somewhere or people are coming over. Just getting really tired of it!!!:(

Hi everyone -
Glad to see most everyone is doing well! For those who are having a tough time or are in a funk, I hope it will pass quickly.
I haven't been posting, but have been reading, as usual. I'm still SB'ing and have been up and down but am at my lowest again today, so trying to take inspiration from that and tow the mark!
Anyway, I have a question: I was at a neighbor's household auction yesterday (she has moved to an assisted living apartment) and purchased a large box of kitchenware for $1. Well, when I got it home and started unpacking the box, what a treasure! I now have an electric hot plate, electric drink blender, steamer and lots of other stuff. It rained hard during the early part of the auction and lots of people left, so things went really cheap. Got a whole lot of stuff (just what we need, more STUFF!) for $36, so I was happy. Anyway, to my question, the steamer didn't come with a box or directions. I remember having one--it's a Hamilton Beach--about 8 years ago but I never used it and sold it in a garage sale. Now maybe I will use it. Does anyone have one of these to give me some directions on how much water goes in, etc. Basically walk me through the process for rice and also steaming vegetables? I'd really appreciate any help.
As Raylnne said, it's been HOT and HUMID here in the Great Lakes states. Our AC has been on for at least a week. The Weather Channel is predicting only 79 on Wed. , I think, so that will be heaven and I can open the house up! Sure zaps the energy out of ya! I don't know how you ladies in FL can stand it. But then, you don't know how we can stand snow and ice, right?
I'm sorry I can't remember who mentioned they were having a tough time with handling their mother moving to an Alzheimer's facility. I have gone through the same thing moving my mom and dealing with her house. If you would like to talk more about that subject, feel free email me at verhagen@chorus.net.
This new computer is giving me a headache. I don't notice any faster internet speed (my ISP hasn't changed, so maybe I was just imagining that this would help) and my floppy drive isn't working so I can't load my bookmarks or my address book. I will have to try and call this afternoon to get it fixed. It doesn't surprise me that it's not 100%; don't know many people who don't have trouble initially!
Hope everyone has a great week and continues with whatever is working best for them!

Hello
Back from a few days away with my Mom and sister. It was nice except for the rain, but I am use to that , it does it whenever I take time off.
THe poll this week was hard, I really wish I could have checked more than one answer. I had a child (20 years ago-but never lost that weight) I had thyroid cancer, I take synthroid and they are still trying to get that regulated, I love food and I am an emotional eater. I guess I could stay I had the deck stacked against me....but I still should be in control. I now I am trying and that is why I am here.
I think I did pretty good this weekend with my eating, I didn't get to walk before I left Sat. but we shopping for about 4-5 hours yesteday, that walking had to count for something, and today the day is not over yet, I am waiting to see if the rain is gonna stop and if not I atleast do my exercise tapes.
Hope everyone has a great day.

NEVER BITE OFF MORE THAN YOU CAN CHEW, AND MAKE SURE THAT BITE IS SB LEGAL!
I guess that's really not motivational is it? I think one thing has hit home this week through the Board. That we are really willing to support other people's lapses or slow losing, yet when we are having the same problem we often don't seek that support. We all know it is easier to give advice than it is to ask for it or follow it. I, for one, am going to try not to hide away during the times I feel ashamed of what I might have eaten or discouraged
because the scale is not my friend. I am going to remember that YOU are my friends and will be there for me as I want to be for you!
ROSALIE - I'm with you. I want my tent to have room service and a feather bed! I was a GS leader for umpteen years and did enough camping! Sems like camping everyone gets a rest but mom, she still has to cook and do the wash!
DEB - I never played your Mom's type of Mah Jonng. I play a computer game. Basically it's a matching game. I have played RummiCube and Uno with tiles.
BEACH - I agree with you, food is more than just bad emotional eating! It is also good emotional eating too. We use food to celebrate and when we were kids and we felt bad Mom would give us a treat. So we have a constant battle on all fronts. Isn't
it terrible Mom gets blamed for everything!!
LDBLOND - You're right. One step at a time. The world wasn't built in a day and we shouldn't expect to rebuild our outlook in a day.
I learned something today. This morning before going to the nh, I was doing a little stitching on my map of LA. One of the symbols in the middle of the state is a pick, miner's hat and shovel. I didn't know LA had mining. I think of the land has being marshy. But apparently going north ground is more solid. Looked it up and LA has salt and sulphur mines. I think sulphur is mined! Never too old to learn new tricks and this old dog is in training all the time!!
Dil made some chicken salad yesterday. And at different times all three of them told me that it was made sugar free and legal. I would tell each one that another had told me and they'd say "I wanted to be sure you knew, so you could have it." Do I get family support or what?!?
Well, I have to get to other things. Kitchen is a mess. I'd suggest getting a pig but it is too messy for one! Also want to get things marinading for supper.
Take care. See you later.

OK, I not only saw the Neurologist this am, but also saw an ENT & my chiropractor. I'm exhausted. I'll try to share with you all what I learned today.
First of all, the neurologist is NOT sure that we are dealing with Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) after all. He is calling it Atipical Facial Pain, but believes that what I am experiencing is acting a little different than the usual TN pain because the majority of the pain has moved into my jaw & even some pain in the other jaw now. He has refered me to an ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat doc.), some x-rays & lab work, & wants to see me again next week. Oh, & best of all, has taken me OFF the Tegretol which has caused all the dizziness.
The ENT could see me today! so off I went. He feels sure that my pain is due to TMJ & wants me to do icy hot & heating pad to the jaw & neck & put me on some anti-inflammatory meds. He thinks I will soon see a difference in the pain level.
So there you have it. I am a little skeptical, but sure do WANT to believe them both. I KNOW that I can cope with TMJ much easier than I could with TN. Also, my chiropractor says he can help with TMJ if that's what it is. We just have to wait to make sure. So I'm going to finish this post & off I go to bed with my trusty friend the heating pad. I will turn the A/C down cooler & rest. With the Tegretol out of my system, I'm hoping to return to work now. The pain will continue wheather I'm here or there, as long as my head is clear that I can cope with the things that I need to on the job.
ROSALIE, Looked at Rhoo's Zucchinni recipe from March & this one is different. Will try to post it later. Hey, I like camping with the comforts of home too...LOL
Debbie Now you made ME laugh with that post. No, dessert didn't work any better than the pain pill, but it sure was good for oral gradification! I was just soo disgusted that I just gave into it. I'm over it now. I'll get back to the program. I got it out of my system. I know what you mean though about the scale being up. With all the sodium in that chinese food yesterday, it was up 3 lbs this am, but I'm pushing the fluids this afternoon & hope to see some results soon. So far, I'm still holding it in. :D
SEF, I love Mah Jongg! I had it on my puter, but it's one of the things I lost when my puter went down.

Evening All!
Not much going on down here besides the fact that we've had a LOT of needed rain. I just thank my lucky stars that the rains haven't been coming in the morning when I want to walk.
Got the kitchen cleaned, now have to work on the table in the dining room-how fun!
I actually put the film into Walmart to be developed today-should be back late Thursday, so hopefully, I'll be posting some pics by Friday:)
BEACH, so glad to see you back! Have missed you as well:) Does this mean we'll get to see a picture posted soon?? I'm sure you'll be back down to your low in no time. Sometimes I wish I would cheat to give me a reason why the scale is up like it is (was down to 125.5 last week, here I am at 129 again!), but honestly, I just don't have the desire to cheat, so I'm at a loss why the scale isn't cooperating. Kudos to you for doing 2 walks in 1 day!
LDBLOND, thanks for that motivational thought!!
RALY, didn't realize you would have to take your daughter with you, that can put a crimp in exercise plans. It is brutal down here as well, and I look forward to any kind of let up on the heat. I'm hoping when we go to NANCES that it's not as bad. That's nice for you to do the party for the young lady that you have staying with you, I'm sure she'll appreciate the party more than you'll know:)
KAREN, I think many of us on the board have steamers-I do. I got mine at a garage sale as well, without instructions. Bought another one for my Mom, and another one for me-finally ended up with instructions! Most of them use the low when cooking veggies-let me know what you need and I'll give you the info (for a specific veggie). For rice, I'll get that info as well. Hope you get your computer problems fixed soon!
LAMAP, we've had a lot of rain down here as well, can't say we don't need it! Where did you go away to this past weekend?
SEF, were you talking to me when you said it is easier to give advice than it is to ask for it or follow it. cause that's me, for sure! I don't hide nor do I feel ashamed, but definitely I do get discouraged and it's hard to eat my own advice that I give to others when they go through the same thing that I am facing. Love the family support you are getting!!!!
MELF, glad to hear you got both Dr.s out of the way, and I guess having TMJ would be a bit of better news for you than the TN-I just hope and pray you find the relief you so deserve! I know what you mean about being disgusted in giving in, but I do it with not walking-it amazes me how I would deal with things in the past, with a half-gallon of ice cream-now THAT was gradifying! My gosh, to think of all the oral gradification I've had in my lifetime!!!!
Please don't forget TOMORROW IS CHAT NIGHT AT 9:15PM EST!!! Hope you all can make it!!
Okay gals, I'm outta here, at least for a while. I'll try to get on here later tonight, if not, a quickie in the morning. Eli is off tomorrow and Michael's Dad is picking him up from school, so we have the whole day to stay out-maybe we can even get in a movie!!!!!!
Have a wonderful week!

Where does the time go? This weekend was very fun and relaxing, I just wanted more of it! Didn't workout yesterday and felt LOUSY this morning so no run. I think I will do some Yoga before bed time, will make me feel like I did something.
Poll this week was a no-brainer. So glad to see that I'm not the only emotional eater. I think that leads me to a good motivational quote today.
BE AWARE OF THOSE TIMES WHEN YOU'RE EMOTIONALLY EATING, AND ASK YOURSELF "AM I SHOVING MY FEELINGS DOWN MY THROAT WITH A FORK?"
I admit that I was surprised that I was the only one to vote in last week's poll as the only one who doesn't eat red meat.
DEB - We need that rain too. Hope to have some this week. Got a BARGAIN today. The Jr. League thrift store that is in the 1st floor of the bldg I work in is so awesome! I got a pair of Liz C white denim shorts for $3.50 and the $32.00 tags were still on them! SCORE!!!!! :spin:
MELF - Hope that you are feeling better soon. Glad that you were able to get some much needed medical attention today. Relax and heal yourself.
SEF - How sweet that you got an SF meal from your family.
KAREN - I love auctions! I would like to go to more of them. You can get such great deals! It was my friend BW whose mother has Alzhiemer's. It was sweet of you to offer some assistance.
BEACH - So glad to see you back. Sorry that you are disappointed in your gain, but it looks like you are doing great! Is maintenance hard? What has been the most difficult? I hope that your personal difficulty will be resolved soon.
BOB - Are you watching fear factor? Did you see it tonight? Don't know if I could keep the sheep's eyes down!
HEY TO EVERYONE!

Hi everyone.
Went for a short bike ride this morning but it was too hot to be out for long. I feel like I am getting a little better at it. Even managed to take one hand off the handlebars to-day to scratch my nose without falling off. Played badminton for a couple of hours this afternoon (with a short break between games). Wasn't able to find any motels for the weekend I was hoping to go away with my dd. Everything was booked up, it being a long weekend up here. I did find a couple of nice looking places which would be suitable for a family. They were right next to the park we want to visit so maybe can book up something for a different weekend.
Deb - Yes we have been having some hot weather at last. It was in the high 80's at least on the weekend plus the humidity was very high. To-day is not much better. The next time I make the pb cookies I will try using less flour. May also add some more pb. I did replace the sugar with Splenda (this is the first time I have used it) so don't know if that would make any difference to the consistency.
Melf - Glad you got to see the doctors. Hope the new treatment will be successful.
Beachfan - It's good to hear from you again but sorry to hear you have been having some problems. I'm sure when you are back op those pounds will disappear again. Sure we all eat for 'happiness' at times, whether it's celebrating a special occasion or enjoying the company of family and friends. I don't think we want or need to take all pleasure away from eating.
Lamap - Glad to hear you had a good weekend away. Shopping for 4-5 hours should certainly count as exercise.
Sef - Your are lucky you have your family supporting you in this woe. It makes everything so much easier. I think we all find it easier to give advice and support to others than accepting it for ourselves when we need it.
Frog - That was a good bargain you had with the shorts.
Bye for now.

Doing the post tonight in honor of "Legally Blonde". My gf called and I had 2 seconds to prepare to join her for the flick. Had the babysitting all planned! I think this gf is a keeper! Anyway, Legally Blonde was so funny! Definitely a chick flick. But her "signature color" was pink. I didn't even miss the popcorn!!! Ok, maybe just for a second. Did slug down a tablespoon of natural peanut butter before I left and I think that helped me stick with OP. Anyway, been super busy today. Not a lot of time for anything. Had to take today off from exercise cuz my knee was acting up again!! Major bummer!!! On my second glass of Merlot to unwind and no telling what is going to come out of my fingers! Had a hard time "just picking one" reply. I'm a big time emotional eater and "an I'm tired" and "what the heck" eater too. But I love food!!! I chose emotional because that is the biggest and I agree on the good emotional eating too good and bad.
Here's my contribution to Monday "Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great. " Mark Twain.
I believe that the wonderful people of this board are the "really great". Thanks so much!!!!! I'm going to focus on being "really great" too.
DEB-Happy 16th anniversary. You've been OP for as long as Benjamin has been alive!!! You go girl!!! I believe Madonna was just a newcomer back then! I'm going to make your Oatmeal cookies when my sister is in town. I picked up some sugar twin substitue for brown sugar so I'll be able to try to adapt that oatmeal fruit bars I was trying to do. Thanks for the suggestions for Benjamins diet. Do you just stick Tofu in the oven plain? Ugh, back to 129? HOW DARE THAT SCALE!!! Bet it's the bloating. Isn't it great you notice your patterns though?? You also know it will be over eventually too.
Melf-Glad the trips to the DR's are over. I hope too that it's TMJ. If I have to pick one. Glad the dizziness will be gone soon and you'll be getting back to some semblance of normal living without sugar comforting.
sef-I just love your wit! "I yam what I yam".  I could indeed imagine your nightly bounces. Been there myself on occasion. Usually occurs when I travel away from my bed. Your time with dh sure sounded like the perpetual honeymoon!! Your dime story was so romantic. So what did you do on those back roads??? Submarine races??? You're also teaching us how to stay sharp by your example. Always investigating what You don't know about. Sounds like you have a great family. My family is on hold waiting to see how long this "new thing" lasts. I'll surprise them!!! I loved Judi Dench in Mrs. Brown but spent last night watching "The Green Mile" with Tom Hanks. It was a great film too.
Nancy-talking about Victorian. We should arrange sometime to visit Cape May, NJ. They have the most wonderfully restored homes that they rent out for vacations. It is definitely worth the trip. Maybe another years SB trip?
Rosalie-Your hop, skip, and jump was funny! Don't think you'll need the training wheels. It's amazing how fast we pick it up and we think it's just reserved for the young!!! I totally agree with going home to my own bed. I spent a few years being den mother for sons boy scout group. Had enough of the great outdoors. My idea of roughing it is Motel 6!!! Thanks goodness the flea problem is gone!!!
Quilter? Beaned thay yoga master yet with that bread?
Raly-I know about busy. Sounds like you need a mini-vacation!! Hang in there girl. You are great to throw that party for your exchange student!! Look for ways to exercise inside!!
beach-I liked the "rut" story. So true!!!
Lara-good motivation. I wrote it down to tape to my bathroom mirror. I need to look at that daily!!
Karen--sorry no steamer instructions. But what a DEAL!!! You're up there with DEB and Bob and Now Froggie!!!
Frog-you are the deal queen of the week!!! Still have some LC golf skirt I'm trying to fit back into. I'll get there yet!!
Ok, as Paul Harvey says, here's "the rest of the story"... Peter asked me after a few dates to go with him to his cousins wedding in Upstate New York. I jumped at the chance. I love adventure, especially in new places. So we set off on the 12 hour trip (it was 14 back then) and drove all night. Then we could do it. NO WAY now that we have children. Anyway, we went up and had fun at the wedding. They are italian and Italians can throw the best weddings!!! We stayed with his family. I loved his dad who instantly made me feel completely welcome and mom who was nice. They were preoccupied with his sister who just delivered his neice. This child just graduated from high school and we'll be celebrating with her in August. When the wedding was over he took me up to his families cabin on Lake Ontario. This was in April so you know how cold it was there at night. They had this oldfashioned pot bellied stove there and it was fabulous!!! We rowed over to the Lake and piled rocks and walked! We camped out and froze out butts off at night but managed to stay warm somehow!!!! We visited the great vineyards along Lake Cayuga and went to Niagara Falls!! We took a trip back there last year and it was amazing how the falls had changed. I really watched his family closely because I always believed that a family can give insight into how your potential mate will be. My parents had showed me what a bad relationship could be and I wasn't taking any chances. Soon after we returned my ex-boyfriend asked me to marry him. Wasn't that interesting? I realized that I had made the right choice to move on and that I had found my soul-mate. Wish I could be a little more eloquent but that's my story. I guess my "rebound" guy was the real guy after all. It will be 17 years this year!!! We've been together 18 years though.
Well, ladies, I'm now exhausted. I'm going to sign off for now. Had 60 oz of water today.

Hello all. I've been away from this board for over a week and miss y'all. Looks like everyone is doing great, with a few minor assorted physical ailments. MELF--hang in there. Glad you are getting some diagnoses. I've never had TMJ, but have had bouts with unexplained pain in my feet, shoulder, wrist, legs, etc. Right now I'm feeling pretty good.
Have been keeping up with my exercising, but still not LOVING the walking on the TM. I try to time it so I am walking where there is a TV show that I like, so I stay preoccupied with the show. Unfortunately, there are not too many shows I like, so that limits my times I walk.
SOLShine--How was the reunion?
My husband is taking the week off starting Thursday, through next Wed. and so we will be galavanting about. I think we will take the time for a stay at home vacation, doing some things we like to do but just never get around to. We also are talking about going over to the beach for a couple of nights.
OK, are any of you gals from Wisc.? Or does anyone know anything about Door County? My DH wants to take a trip up there in Aug. to play golf for a couple of days with a client, and then spend a couple of days in Door county? Any info from anyone.
Have a great evening.

This is going to be a rather abrupt post. I had an old roll of film that I got developed with my vacation pictures last week. However, I got this roll sent online to me also. This pictures go back to the end of last summer when my sister and I went to the mountains in NC to the place my Dad and step-mom go during the summer. It is around Burnsville, NC. Mt Mitchell is also nearby. The pic I am gonna download here is one of my sister, Dad, and me on the right............

Where did day go? You yougsters don't realize it, but the older you get the quicker times goes. I always tell my family to enjoy life now and make memories, because these times will be their "Good Old Days!"
I must have lost 5# today!! I'm not one to worry about my potty schedule, but today I was feeling uncomfortable and realized I hadn't dookied in 3 or 4 days. Long story short, I almost jammed up the toilet! Now I feel less bloated and as airy as can be!! But
I will not weigh myself until WIW!! Sorry, didn't mean to gross anyone out!!! I know I have back slid on water intake and I'm sure that contributed to problem.
Geez, I sound like some of my patients. Everyday there was a group that would come down to the recreation room, and the first thing out of their mouths was the comparing of potty habits for that morning. It was always too soft, too hard, too much, too little! I swear it became a "Can you top this". I used to say "You know you're getting old when......."
For you youngsters ":Can You Top This" was an old radio show that had a panel of comedians that told jokes and would challenge the others to top their joke. I guess you had to be
there!!
MELF - Gee, you really had a rough day!! At least the doctors hold out some hope. Maybe I should hang out my shingle as I suggested TMJ! That's what it sounded like to me as I have seen it. Of course, everyone has a different reaction to things! That Teg will take more than a day to get out of your system, although you were't on it too long. Don't rush things. Give yourself a break, you walk around patintes with an ice bag or heating pad attached to your face!!
I wouldn't know how, but maybe my gd could copy it to disk for you. Although mine is on disc. Don't know if that can be done. If so maybe I could send you a copy of MahJongg.
DEB - Oh Deb! I didn't mean that as a criticism of anyne! I truly meant it's human nature and I am a prime example. I know it is hard when you are the leader to have to admit that something is not working for you. But you let it hang out, warts and all for
us to see and be an example we can try to emulate! But...... if you want to be testy, go ahead!
FROGGIE - I am lucky, when the kids cook they always consider me and are eating a lot of the SB legal foods.
There are people who eat fish eyes as a delicacy so why not sheep eyes.
What a bargain. My dil loves thrift stores and has gotten some good things. I can never find anything in my size, but maybe next year................sigh.
ROSALIE - Around here the natives wear sweaters when it's 80'. Not me I'm a mountain girl. My family is the reason it has been easy to stay on this woe. I may have eaten more legal stuff at times than I should, but have not had a candy bar, cake or some other no-no.
BUTTERFLY - Sorry your knee is acting up. For me that is the hardest fight with food! The sort of "I feel bad and deserve a treat" thing. When I was laid up last week, I just realized I didn't do that. SCORE ONE FOR THE FAT OLD BROAD! I did something right!
I can say I was a virgin when I got married "I'm a good girl, I am!", not that it was easy. I always worries when we parked, those back roads were dark and lonely! I think it was fear of getting caught for me, maybe by some moonshiner! "Memories, Memories" The tantalizing can be a nice thing!
Cape May is gorgeous. Haven't been there in years.
You were very eloquent. That's a neat story. I met dh's family en masse too, at a family reunion. They were so different from mine, just made me realize I better not let him get away. Thus the tantalizing, always leave 'em wanting more!!!!
GATOR - how nice to see your post!
AMSER - Neat pics. Pretty girl on right of Dad!

I feel so LAZY! I didn't run this a.m. I'm fighting a summer cold and really don't want to get out of bed with this stuffy nose. DH has one too. I also know that getting sick can be a sign of over training. Need to be careful. I will try to run this evening if it isn't storming (forecasted scattered thunderstorms all week). We finally got a little rain last night/this a.m. Hope it was enough to water my plants.
Well, I don't have time this a.m. to reply to those who have posted since I posted last, but I will try to tonight before CHAT!! Don't forget!!
Have a great SB day today,
Peace,
FROG
TUESDAY TIP:
If you want to be successful, you have to plan ahead and manage the potholes in the road. Whatever you are doing in life, this holds true, but especially when you are living an SB lifestyle. Make contingency plans for the those times that you think that you might be tempted to cheat. Know what you will say when offered it, know what you can and should eat instead, know that you are better off without eating whatever it is. Follow your plan. Stay the course and don't detour.

Just checking in. It's deadline week for me, so not a lot of free time to get on line. Life is going well just too busy, towards the end of the week it should slow down a bit. Haven't had a chance to read posts from Friday 'til now, so I have lots of catching up to do and I fear it's only going to get worse as I only have a couple of minutes this morning. I hope all is well with all of you, know that I'm with you in spirit.

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone!
Okay, can I join the funk group?? The scale is up, 5lbs from my low, 1.5 from yesterday, exactly what I weighed a month ago and worst, above my goal! Okay, okay, I know it's to do with mid-cycle, but still, it's not a nice thing to see today!
I was feeling sorry for myself and wondered why the heck I was going to go out and walk, and wishing that the rains from the middle of the night would continue this morning-BUT, then it was a nice morning, no rains and I figured I better get out there because MAYBE the walk would get me out of this rut-was going to do a quickie, but ended up doing the 4.5 miles in 52:15-so I sit here, cooling down and feeling a bit better about going out and walking/jogging, but not about the scale:rolleyes:
Eli is off today, so I will be MIA the rest of the day until tonight.
FROG, wow, that's a bargain! I can only imagine the time we could all have shopping together, I think the sale racks would be barren! I do think if we can master this NC plan for the future, that we should do a clothing swap while we're there! Hey, how about bringing in a masseuse??? Male exotic dancer? I better quit before no one wants to come!!!! They'll think I'll convert one of the rooms into a DETOX DUNGEON!! Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well, hope you take it easy and get to feeling better, esp. before chat tonight!
ROSALIE, kudos to you on your bike riding-before you know it, you'll be coasting down the street with NO HANDS!!! Probably with the PB COOKIES, using the Splenda vs the sugar made them a bit drier. I would try to add a little oil into it, that should do the trick, I think (just remember, I don't cook).
FLY, I think we are going to try and go see LEGALLY BLOND today-I'm in the mood to see a fun comedy. Thanks for your MM contribution-it's a good one-I've faced that situation MANY times!!! Oops, that's not a 16yr anniversary-16 month anniversary on SB!!! When you mentioned Madonna I said, wait, she must of read that wrong!LOL!! I buy WHITE WAVE flavored tofus, Michael like the Mexican the best, but there are a few others he likes too. Make the crustless spinach quiche-Michael loves that. He also likes Seitan, they have 2 flavors, terryaki and bbq, I serve that over noodles for him. You just heat them up-my kind of cooking! LOL! Heck, I'd be happy with 129 today, now it's 130.5! Oh my goodness, you mentioned the wedding you went to in upstate NY and a cabin on Lake Ontario-my family is from Rochester and my grandparents have (now my uncle has it) a cottage on Lake Ontario, right off the NY Parkway in Hilton-I love it up there and really miss it-hope to get back up there one day soon!!
GATOR, glad to see you checking in-whatever you end up doing on your next vacation, have a good time.
AMSER, thanks for sharing those pictures! BOY, you really have changed!!!!! I can see such a big difference in you. I can't wait to get the pics back tomorrow so everyone can see how you look now.
SEF, sounds like you had quite a back up girl! I'm hoping your geting unplugged shows on the scale-I think that may be a little bit of my problem as well, I had about 40 grams of fiber yesterday, but nothing to show for it YET! U;ve definitely plugged up my share of the toilet more times than I can imagine, so I can relate, totally!!! Oh my, I hope I didn't sound "testy", my reply to you was just saying that you seemed to be talking to me, like you know me so well:) No, I don't get testy with women, well, only my younger sister, but I save testy for the ones with the testicles!!! I didn't take what you said as criticism at all, sorry if it sounded like I did. Oh yes, I hold nothing back with you all-you all know more about me than most of my family!!!
LDBLOND, thanks for checking in!
NANCE, I keep missing you. Was going to call you last night, fell asleep at 9:30pm. Will try to call you tonight, what time would be good???
REMINDER: TONIGHT IS CHAT NIGHT AT 9:15PM EST Please try to attend the chat. The link to the SB CHAT ROOM is below, just click on it:

Good Morning ALL
Last night Marie(Exchange Student) made dinner and was excellent. She loves to cook and they eat much different over there, she says there are very few fat people. We had boneless skinless chicken breasts in olive oil, basil, onions and sour cream, but they use real creme over there so it didn't taste like her grandma's. She cooked for 1 hour slow. A delicious cooked vegie dish, she mad in a 9x13 pan with eggplant, onion, tomatoes, zuchinni, redpeppers with olive oil, basil, and some other spices unsure. Cooked for 1 hour, but she says suppose to cook for 2 hours. She made a dessert with homemade crust, apples, cinnamin and when you eat that you top with jam. I didn't eat that, but smelled very good.
In France they eat very small breakfast like cereal, big lunches, and very small dinners. They eat dinner at 8 pm every night. There mcdonald's also has pasta, chicken and lots of good food. They don't use butter, greasy foods, fatty oils. I think our country definitely needs to change their ways. She has fallen in love with pringles though. Of course, their not as greasy as others. She absolutely hates grease and will pat it down with her napkin if there is any on her food. She can eat sooo much too when she eats. She was telling me that my little sister who is 16 same age as her doesn't eat good and eats too late at night. I told her I know and she always has, I guess that just shows what kind of routine alot of americans have gotten into.
Well anyway, my dh is actually going to start working out with me after his knee is better. Which will be alot easier for me when it comes to cristina. I have a hard time getting downstairs with all the chores after work and this way we can workout together and set up a schedule for the chores. Keep him in the house more often in the evening during the week. Yardwork can wait unti the weekend or friday nights.
well gotta get to work bye

Gator - I live in Wisconsin and have been to Door County a couple of times camping and driving around. It's very reminiscent of the coast of Maine (I've never been to Maine, but that's the promo here). Very small communities along the water with quaint shopping and eating establishments. There are no interstates up there so the pace is much slower. Very relaxing. There are some very nice resorts along the water or you can go rustic or in-between. There is a beautiful state park, Penninsula. The most popular places are located on the Green Bay (west) side of the county. If you are looking for quieter areas, go to the Bailey's Harbor side. You can take a ferry from Gill's Rock to Washington Island and stay on the island. Can't remember if cars can go over or not. The phone number is 920-847-2546 (24 hour). Sturgeon Bay is the largest community and is known for the shipbuilding during WWII. They still make ships there now--actually yachts for the ultra rich and down. On the west side (Lake Michigan) there are the Whitfish Dunes if you like a natural setting. I'm assuming you would fly into Green Bay? You can visit the Packer Hall of Fame which is very interesting. If you are going to be there over a weekend that the Packers play at Lambeau, be prepared! Let me know if you need more info.

Gator - forgot to say that the first 2 weeks of August are some of the busiest up there, maybe even the first 3. School starts in most areas of Wisconsin between August 20 and the 29th so a lot of people try to get up there before that. Also ALOT of Chicago people. If you don't have reservations yet and you plan on going over a weekend, get them soon!

Computer is down at home, so posting quickly as I can at work!
FlyLoved hearing the story....sounds like a very happy romance, and one that still continues:love: Was Peter on business in Taiwan or is he also in the service/reserves? I bet the wedding in New york was especially romantic. Nothing like going to a wedding when you yourself are falling in love! Well....to continue my story...I left off that Dan the Man and I had noticed we were becoming interested in each other, we finally braved the waters and scanned pictures of each other. I had a great picture of me when I was in Hawaii and was happy and relaxed! He immediately sent me a response telling me how beautiful I was and what an awesome smile I had, which of course made me melt. He looked like a nice man, with moon-shaped eyes when he smiled, and I had good vibes about him. We continued to talk on line, and would play games like "You can ask me five questions" type of things, to get to know each other even better. (By this time we were on each others buddy list and were instant messaging each other). After 4 months of computer talk, we decided to brave the waters and make a phone call. We must have talked until 2:30 in the morning on the phone. Our first phone call was in August and by September Dan announced he made a plane reservation and was flying out to meet me in person. By this time we had fallen in love with each other as a person, without having physically meeting each other. He would send me each day the most incredible romantic quotes, which I saved and printed out each and every one of them and still have them. We were both flying high as a kite and the excitement of him coming out was drivng me crazy. All my friends at work just loved giving me a hard time, saying he would have horrible teeth, or body odor....joking of course. I knew he would be just as perfect in person. I wasn't nervous when I picked him up at the airport for some unusual reason. When our eyes met, I said to myself "There's the Man I am going to marry!" He came up to me and we embraced each other and he said"YOu are even more beautiful in person". I had planned for us to take a ride up the Palm Springs Aireal Tramway up to the top of the mountains and had packed us a picnic lunch. We walked out under the pine trees and of course it was perfect weather. Light cloud cover with a gentle breeze....YIKES!!!! I need to get to work! I will write more later!
Melf-Scrapbooking, you will become addicted!!! Take a begining class at the local store! There are so many things you can do! You will love it!!!
Sef/Roslaie-See my response to fly above for the real life "you got Mail" story....mine is much. much more romantic! :)

HI girls,I'm still here just been going through a bit of depression sounds like a few of you have been too,big hugs to all who are it can feel soo much like you are alone but of course when you seperate yourself from the world what do you excpect right :) at least that is what I keep telling myself anyways.I say Kymn get back into it dont sit around moping it doesnt do you any good and no one wants to be around that.SOOOOO I am back.My hubby and I did have a good night when we went out thanks for asking all who did.And Derek my son,had a great time at his sleep over little turkey didnt want to come home  it was so strange waking up and not having him here.I cant belive how he is growing up.He had speech thereapy yesterday it went well.He has trouble saying K sounds and G sounds and some s blend sounds so want to nip that in the bud before he starts kindergarten.
In dec of this year I had a miscariage I was 3 months pregnant and had a d and c.During those 3 months I had put on 20lbs boom just like that and I havent been able to loose it.I dont know if it is emotional that I havent gotten over the miscariage and am somehow holding onto the weight or what but it is really starting to bother me.Also after that we tried for 6 months to get pregnant again and then found out that I was not ovulating, kind of hard to get pregnant that way huh.Anyhow, the doc put me on the bc pill for a couple of months to try and kick start my system and I just finished the last of my pills this weekend so I am feeling a little scared that it didnt work cause now we get to try again,at least when I had to go on the pill I didnt have that deep depression at the end of my cycle when my period came cause I knew it was going to.anyways gals just thought that maybe saying this out loud or typing it I should say might help me deal a bit better.Sorry to ramble, got to run to the vet now so you all have a great day and I will try hard to make it to chat this evening. My husband is in chicago so as long as derek is occupied I might be able to swing it.If not talk with you soon

My friend called today. They are in Oh until Monday and have decided to go to IN to see Then they are swinging down here to pick me up. I will probaby stay until the 17th. Two weeks is enough. M does not diet (and looks it, of course I am and look like I don't too), so the food situation is always made into a mountain from the proverbial mole hill! We can't just eat, we have to make a big deal because Shirley won't eat this or that. Also, you know how they say opposites attract? Well, this is a case of that. I'm quiet and low key, don't draw attention to yourself. M is loud, always makes the center of things, and runs the show. But we have been friends for 47 years and are always laughing. So it must work out, but the first time I spent a month with her back in NJ, I knew it was too much. My last visit was 2 weeks and that was good length of time.
Guess I'll have to prepare a couple of small projects, I've told you she's an early to bed, late to rise person. I want to do some Christmas towels and bibs so I'm sure I can keep out of trouble while she sleeps! I usually go to bed at 1a and read until 2, up by 7 or 7:30. If I ever have to go to a nh, I'll drive that staff crazy!!!!
Funny thing M's dil and ds were on Atkins when I was there in April. Ds travels a lot and was even in Singapore and still lost, so he has determination! But every time they sneeze M is saying it's because of the diet. That she heard this or that about any type of plan and it's all negative. Her ds had lost 38# at that time and looked great. He has apnea and uses the machine when he sleeps, takes it on all his trips. I'll have to ask him if the weight loss helped any. I saw someone discussing their situation with that on the board.
Okay, I've rambled enough. Time to read the posts and get busy.
FROG - Hope you feel better. Especially so you can CHAT!
DEB - I knew you weren't taking it personally! I was just busting you chops! Like I said I was talking about myself but know there are others who feel the same. I have learned through your posts that you are sensitive to others, but are not sensitive about yourself and can take a little razzing!!
RALYNNE - You are learning so much about another culture. When we do nice things it sometimes comes back to us. Lucky you.
KAREN - I always learn so much here. You sound like a good tourist agent. Want to pack my bags and go!
NANCE - You must know about "The Perils of Pauline"! You always leave us with a cliff hamger! At least we know it isn't like Dallas where it was all a dream! We know you have a happy ending! So "Tell Us More! Tell Us More".
ADAM - I hope all works out for you. I know they say that a miscarriage must be for a good reason, etc., etc. But it doesn't help does it? It didn't help me and it was an unplanned pregnacy, but once we knew it we wanted the baby. I know you have been struggling to overcome your grief and worry. You must be strong to do all that. So do that deep breath, shoulders back, knockers up thing and you will cope! You are in my
prayers and thoughts.
Gotta go! In more ways than way! Coming unplugged has more than one meaning!!!
Take care, sef

I slept so much better last night with the pain medication & I had some relief of this jaw pain until my GP checked me this am & insisted on checking the jaw again. Ouch! I could have cried. But enough of the complaining, right?
ROSALIE, Sorry you weren't able to find something for the week-end. Sounded like you were really looking forward to spending the time with your dd & gc. Our temperature here in SW LA have been pretty bad. Highs in the 90's. Yesterday I think it was 95. Right now, the humidity is surprising low for us, just 85% with heat index of 97 degrees. Like my chiropracot said yesterday, it's too hot around here, even for the cajuns...LOL
Debbie You are so right. We do things to ourselves like stuffing ourselves with stuff that is bad for us in place of doing productive things like exercise in the name of "comfort". I'm glad walking does it for you. It did for for for a while too, but I let myself get out of the habit due to the heat & humidity. I just couldn't take it. Made my heart palpitate too much. Felt like I couldn't breathe. But I should have replaced it with something else. I am hoping to get back to my exerciser as soon as things level out for me with my back & this mouth pain. It will come. I've come too far to blow it now.
Now I hope we didn't drag you down too with all of us being in a slump! But I'm sure your day with Eli will fix you right up...RIGHT? :D
FROG, That is sooo true, we do try to push our emotions down with our fork. In my case with the dessert Sunday night it was the urge to cry from the pain I was feeling. But whatever it is...it's not a good way to handle it & I know it. Thanks for the reminder.
BUTTERFLY, I have also used SUGAR TWIN BROWN SUGAR SUBSTITUTE & liked it. I use it in my scones recipe. I'm afraid many of us here are emotional eaters. Like FROG said in her post above, we push the emotions or try to anyway, down with our fork. What a wonderful love story. Sure DOES sound like you made the wise choice. My first marriage lasted 18 wonderful years. This one has been 10 &1/2 years of happiness. I have been blessed with 2 loves of my life.
Gatorgal So good to see you on the board again. Have missed you. Thanks for the well wishes. I just had a call from the hospital asking when am I coming back to work. I really don't feel up to it yet, but hoping to return Thurs which is my next scheduled day. Hey, the beach sounds pretty good with this heat. Think of me when you're there. hehehe
AMSERAPHIM, What wonderful pictures! Soo glad to be able to at last put a face to your name. You look as sweet as you sound in all your posts & our chats together. You said all those were taken last summer, right? Can hardly wait now to see the new you. I have saved these to add to my collection of SB gals. And what a beautiful shot in front of that cascading stream down the moutain! Loved it. Sounds like FUN FUN FUN time with the 2 nieces visiting. Enjoy!
SEF, Yes, I remember you had suggested it might be TMJ. It definitely is more painful in the jaws these days & the headaches are horrible. I could sit & cry sometimes with the pain. But life must go on & I'm trying to get my life back in order. I don't know how I'm going to handle it, but it looks like I'm back on the schedule as of Thurs. I told my DON that I don't think I can handle the 12 hrs, though, so she'll have to work with the schedule some more.
lDBLOND, Hope your schedule calms down a bit so you can take a deep breath & relax some.
Ralynne, Your exchange student sounds like a jewel! We did exchange students from Guatemala back in the early 80's. We even had the opportunity to visist them in 1985. Spent a week there. Such a beautiful country & the people are too. Through that first exchange student came her cousin who became my best friend. She came back to visit when my oldest daughter got married, met her husband during that visit & never left! She lives not too far away from me now. She is also very thin & their eating habits are very different than ours, but I love her cooking.
Adams_rib/KYMN Yes, depression is hard to deal with. Join the club girl. You are in good company here. Yes, I would safely say that several of us on this board can smpthasize with you on this one. The causes may all be different, but the results are the same. In your case, the miscariage. Sorry you had to go thru that. Prayfully you will have good results after the pills the dr gave you. It may take a while, but wait on God's timing. It is ALWAYS right. Meanwhile, rejoice in the child that you do have. He sounds super. My middle daughter has only one child also. He is 13 & 1/2 now & for so long every month she waited on pins & needles praying not to see her period. Sometimes she'd miss it for 3 months at a time & when she'd finally start she was devastated. I think she's finally come to terms with the fact that she may never have another child. She's 35 now. She started baby-sitting a 4 y.o. daughter of a friend of her's & she said "Mom, maybe this is why I am not having another child. God knows I may not be able to handle it" LOL You've got to understand though that this 4 y.o. child talks non stop...LOL Sorry, just had the urge to share that with you.
Nance, Sorry your puter is down. Hope you don't suffer from too much withdrawal! LOL
Bob From your description of the surgery....YES!!! you can relate to my mouth pain & I to yours!!
BelindaWannabe Finally had a chance to go back & read your initial post. Thanks for sharing so much about yourself with us.
Well, I'm off to nap with my friend Mr. Heating Pad.

Hello ALLL!!!
BOB- Sorry to hear about the visit to the dentist. Those usually suck. The exchange student Marie is a riot and will miss her when she leaves. She goes home july 31st and her b-day is the 30th. Last night she was watching Independence Day and this morning watch Godzilla and remember how the french were in that movie to help get godzilla. The frenchman took a drink out of the coffee and spit it out and she says," Yes, american coffee tastes like ****." She loves the word ****, she says it all the time.
Melf- Sorry to hear about your TMJ, sounds painful. I would let the exchange student come back at any time. She wants to come back during the winter for the snow. She would like it for a while.
Well gotta go time to go home from work. C-yall.

Karen--Thanks for the info on Wisc. If we go it will be after the 20th. In fact, it will be over our anniversary on the 24th. My DH wants to play golf for .5 and also one WHOLE day--36 holes that day. I definitely would not be excited about that. He would be with the guys and I'll be on my own. That would be in a town called Kohler. Are you anywhere near that, Karen?
Am--Loved the pix. You and your sister remind me of me and my sis. She is just skinny and could eat a ton of ice cream and still be skinny. I think I got ALL of my grandma's genes--she was plump. You are not plump, from your pix, but looks like your sis, like mine, got all the skinny genes. Life is not fair!
Have been studying french for over a month now and got a chance to put it to use today. I was at the Crisis Pregnancy center and some women from Haiti came in for help. They did not speak much English, so between their english and my French we did pretty well. Have class tomorrow night and am anxious to move along and get a lot learned. The hardest part is actually listening to someone speak and trying to figure out what they are saying.
BOB--Looking forward to that bet. Did you hear that one of our star guys, a recruit from LA, had a heat stroke at one of the voluntary practices, and then, as a result had a heart attack. The last I heard last night, he was in a coma at Shands hospital in critical condition. Horrible. Lots of prayers going out for him all over the Gator internet boards.
Have a great evening all.

Hey, BOB. How do you like the gif above. I got it off the USA today web site. It was illustrating an article about gators taking over Florida. Watch out all you northern gals. When you come to Fla. the gators'll get ya.
Frog--when you come for the marathon, you can just run fast enough so that you won't have to worry about the big lizards catching up with you!!

Rosalie I posted that recipe for the Zucchini Piza. Check it out when you get a chance.
GatorGal That football player is from right here in Lafayette. I just heard a report about him on the evening news that said the same thing you did. Still not good.
Well, got to go. dh will be home soon. Got to start thinking about supper. See ya'll

BOB - OWEEEE--that sounds like it hurts big time! Sorry you had to have all that happen at once. Take good care of yourself so you don't have any additional problems.
Gator - this is really weird, but, we will be camping very close to Kohler the week of August 20 (arrive Monday and leave on Friday)! Otherwise, Madison is about 2.5 to 3 hours from Kohler. We just found this campground that looked really nice and decided we would spend our annual end of summer camping trip there. I have never been to Kohler but my husband had a conference there last winter and I can ask him about what there is to do there. I was wondering if your husband was coming to golf at Kohler--I believe it is the premier course in Wisconsin and has the only 5-star restaurant closeby. Therefore, it will also be expensive, so that's why we haven't gone. My husband is not ready for a course like that yet. Kohler is just east of Sheboygan, hey! home of the Sheboygan bratwursts (brats for short and just a little WI humor there:lol: ) Probably about an hour north of Milwaukee's northern suburbs. If you come during the week we are camping there we could spend some time together while your husband is golfing--that would be fun. I'm sure we could find something to do!! Maybe we should continue this discussion off the forum so we don't take up more space. My e-mail is verhagen@chorus.net.
Melf - hope you are feeling betterr too!
Will try to join the chat tonight!

Evening Everyone!
Just got home from a full day out with my honey-we had a nice day out. Stopped at the ME store for some pita bread as well as some other goodies, went for lunch at a ME restaurant (can you believe, no Ole Ole today-shocker!), went to the indoor flea market-got such a buy (see below), went to see Legally Blond (cute chick flick) and then to top the day off, Carbolite:)
At the flea market, I went into a store that seemed to have a mish-mash of items-I couldn't believe my eyes when I found some coffee extract, not the brand I usually buy, but a more expensive one-like $5.20 a bottle-here it is, staring me right in my face-.60 cents a bottle-and they had coffee! I bought each and every bottle they had, probably around 12 or so-I grabbed, didn't count-bought some others as well, hazelnut, peppermint, chocolate, lemon, vanilla & orange-27 bottles in all-THAT made my day!!!!!
RALY, sounds like you had a nice dinner that your ES made you. When we were in France I ate my way through each and every pastry shop (though I have to admit my favorites were in Belgium). They have the biggest grocery stores I had ever seen Carfour was one of my favorites, I couldn't see from one end to the other. One thing they don't do there is SUPER SIZE, it's more like mini-mize! BUT, I did find what became my most favorite candy in the world there-ask her if she likes KINDER BUENO, they are awesome!!! FYI, Michael Montignac, the man who wrote about this WOE first, is from France:)
AMSER, I can feel bloated winter, spring, summer or fall! Since it's usually hot down here, I don't have an excuse. I'm sure it's from me ovulating today-I sure felt the pain of that little egg trying to squeeze out of me today, so I KNOW that's why the scale is up. I'm sure by tomorrow, it will be down (okay, so I hope it will be down!). I asked you in a past post if you tried the agave nectar and the ballboostas, and what you thought about them-guess you missed that, or I missed your reply.
NANCE, what am I-chopped liver??? Not even a hello?????:?:
AR, from my own personal experience and having more miscarriages than I can even remember, or should I say, care to remember, I know I ate my way through the disappointment. It's not easy, and then gaining weight because of one problem, just causes another-of course, I can say this now, you know what they say about hindsight! I was on clomid and then went to the shots-it worked, and I'd have a miscarriage, a few times-finally, when I decided to take a break, I got pregnant with Michael about 3 months later, and then 17 months after he was born, Lauren was born-this is from someone who didn't ovulate, and didn't have a regular cycle if her life depended on it (not so now!). So, do know that I do know how you feel, and I'm sure many of the others do as well. Just don't console yourself with food, it really doesn't help;) Come on the board, we'll support you-not only with the weight loss, but whatever else life throws your way.
BOB, ouch-a triple decker, huh? Hope you are feeling somewhat better by the time you read this. Yum, pecan meal-sounds good!! When are you headed back home? Any idea when you're headed this way?? Be careful coming home (I thought you were flying, not driving!)-the rains have been bad down my way, but mostly at night-today was nice though. Did you get to a FRESH MARKET up there???
SEF, big question-while you are gone, will you have access to a computer?????? I hope you have a wonderful time with your friend, and do your best to stay OP! Busting my chops, why don't you bust some of this fat off my body instead!!! You've got me pegged, for sure!!
MELF, so glad to hear you had a better night last night-I hope tonight is even better for you. I'm sure you'll get back into exercise when you feel better, you have enough on your plate to worry about right now. I do worry about all of you on the board when you get into a funk/slump, but it doesn't pull me into feeling the same unless I really do feel like that-this morning, I felt like that, but not anymore, I'm better-and will feel a LOT better if the scale cooperates with me tomorrow!
Of course, I must remind you that TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!! I pray the scale is kind to us ALL!
Again, CHAT IS AT 9:15PM TONIGHT!!!! Here's the link to the SB CHAT BOARD:

Hello ladies! My we have been busy again, so much for the slow period!
Kymn
How did your son’s sleepover go? Thanks for the compliment on my pic, those are quite old. You are just darling and I love the braids. Did you get them done professionally? If I have time before I leave I’m going to write you an email in response to your post because there are some things I don’t feel comfortable talking about in public.
Susan
I think the book will be easier to understand the 2nd time around. (Seven Habits) I have been reading a good book called “The Solution” as I might have mention. It is not well-written but has wonderful ideas about being in “emotional balance” to avoid overeating.
Belinda W
Dollar store shopping sounds like fun! I can go nutzoid in places like this. One of the weirdest things I bought in a dollar store was fruit puree in a jar that was supposed to be a fat substitute in baking. It sat on my shelf for a year and I finally made some prune bread with it that turned out quite good. Great to have you here, I love your enthusiasm.
Rhonda
I have definitely been having fun with the weights when I’m not killing myself trying to do too much. I am a member of the “Jello” club too! With my tummy. Glad hubby is doing well, that’s great for both of you.
Froggie
Glad to hear there is some cool weather in that part of the country, rather nervous about the heat and leaving the “perfect” Hawaii weather! ;) Backyard campout sounds like a lot of fun. Sorry to hear you are getting sick, I’m sending lots of healthy vibes your way!
‘Fly
I’m glad you liked the journey thread. Water definitely helps me, plus with the exercise I do, I feel nauseated, dizzy and headachey when I don’t drink enough. Not having enough water may have to do with your 2 lb gain, but I have found that the scale is schizoid and usually varies for no reason at all.
Here's my contribution to Monday "Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great. " Mark Twain.
Loved that!
Deb
Cheer up Debster! I noticed your frowny face on your “129” and thought back to the day when you first reached your goal of 129 after months and months of stalling, and what a happy day that was for you and all of us. I remember chick after chick telling you congratulations and how you added “reached goal” to your signature.
Now being 128 to 129 is something to get you down and depressed. What a contrast to that day! It’s only human to let stuff like that get to you, and amazing how much a simple, fundamentally meaningless number can affect our mood for an entire day.
Reaching your weight goal was a huge accomplishment and you have had so many more accomplishments over the past 16 months. Perhaps it’s time to take a break from the scale and learn to pay attention to other things, like the fit of your clothes and how your muscles feel, to determine your progress. You have gained control over the number on the scale remarkably, but I think the number has gained control of you at the same time. Hugs woman! Anyway, it’s all good cause the scale will definitely go back down.
About the poll, I chose emotional overeater but there are many factors to my excess weight. All my life I have beat myself up over being heavy but I have recently come to believe that it’s NOT MY FAULT that I am fat! Because I was grossly overfed as a child, and kept from any sports or normal activity, it was quite natural that I would get fat. Especially since I was genetically predisposed to excess weight.
This realization lead to brief resentment toward my mother and others in charge of my food supply as a child. But I have gotten over that too. My parents did their best, even if it wasn’t enough or what I needed.
As an adult, I live with the legacy of my childhood in the form of fat on my body as well as destructive habits and negative body image. But I take FULL RESPONSIBILITY for my body from this point in time onward!
Catlover
I’m really glad to see you back. Those 5 pounds are not much in the grand scheme of things. The most important thing is the lessons you have learned. Don’t stay away and you’ll be fine! I am QUEEN of setting unrealistic goals, leftover from my teenage days when I expected to lose 20 pounds a week by fasting (I don’t believe it either). Lately I have been busting *** with very little movement on the scale but I know I’m making progress.
Quilter/Kim
So glad to hear you are moving past your “slump.” This perfectionist attitude is a biggie for me too. All or nothing. This book I have been reading, The Solution, explains the concept very well. For a balanced individual, there is a “normal” way to feel, and then there are rewards (happy, satisfied, etc.) and necessary pain (sadness, hunger) and the balanced person can use that necessary pain to get back in balance (if you are hungry, eat to satisfaction.) So that person is always close to an even emotional level.
Then there are the compulsive overeaters like me, as well as folks with other addictions that prevent them from reacting in a balanced way. Because we use our addictions to bypass the necessary pain (reacting to an every day sadness, like somebody calling us fat or the car breaking down, with a food binge) we end up having extremes of emotion (instead of happy, a false high such as comes from strict dieting; instead of sad, devastated or depressed) or numbness (feeling nothing because we drown it out with food).
I can’t explain it all that well but I have definitely recognized the pattern in myself. Now that I’m aware of it, I try to use the sad or negative feeling to immediately correct my imbalanced moods instead of spinning off into an uncontrollable depression, eating, and then feeling even worse. But getting better is a slow process.
Marie
Sign me up for the training wheels too!
Anna
Happy to see you back from vacation!
Lara
Thanks for the thought on “baby steps” so true!
Ralynne
Sorry to hear about the heat and humidity but you’ll probably miss it come winter. ;) Good luck with your party!

Congrats on your new low. Can’t help with the steamer I’m afraid but Martin bought this cool plastic thing that steams veggies in the micro.

Nice to see you back as well!

Glad your family is supportive, it makes a big difference, and I’ve found that those who are resistant to this way of eating at first eventually become cheerleaders!
This is a great place cause we can talk about our “dookie” episodes and everybody understands!!!
Mary
My prayers are with you on your health problems. :)

Bonjour! Salut! And stuff. ;) Glad you’re still alive. Enjoy your stay-at-home vacation!
That “sister with the skinny genes” thing can really turn around over the years. I personally think genetics is at MOST 25% of the story.
Ann
Thanks for posting the pics! You and your sis are so pretty. Do you have any more recent ones cause you must look a lot different now!
BOB
Sorry to hear about the dental surgery, hope you are okay.
:)
Okay so I’m being bad and posting at work. Hoping after vacation I can get my head together with my job and career, need a little break right now.
Survived my FIRST so-called “free” day on the Body for Life program not too badly. Body for Life works pretty well with Sugar Busters and I have made the decision to mostly stick to Sugar Busters on my day off, but if there is something I really crave, to have it.
Here is what I ate Sunday:
Whole wheat/bran apple pancakes (YUM), lots o' bacon and one egg
Cheddar cheese, 2 slices
Seared ahi (I cooked it myself!) with wasabe sauces, 1/2 cup basmati rice, veggies, 3 egg rolls baked with Pam
Lots o' vanilla ice cream
I tried to think of the things I most wanted to eat instead of randomly stuffing junks down my face. I paid close attention to the way I felt after eating the bacon and the ice cream. I compared the way I felt and the way the ice cream tasted to those factor when I drink my protein smoothies/shakes. And when I COMBINE the taste and the way I feel factors, I decided that I like the smoothies better! As for breakfast, the pancakes, which were mostly “legal” (used sweetened applesauce) were the really delicious part of the breakfast and it would have been BETTER without the bacon (again, combining taste and how I feel factors). Sunday was a very important lesson in appetite, because I used it as an opportunity to experiment without reacting emotionally. I could actually eat the ice cream without feeling guilty!
Then, yesterday at a business lunch, my boss ordered dessert. Normally this would be a highly emotional moment for me. It was this really tempting concoction that I won’t even describe. The waitress brought three forks and our host said, “There is NO WAY that you are just going to sit there at watch this!” I beamed with pride and determination because I’ve done this so many times already, lots of victories behind me! I answered, “Oh YES I CAN!” And I wasn’t even really THAT tempted. Having that “out” of knowing that I can eat stuff if I need to helped me to not obsess over food during other times, so that I was able to be fully present and learn something, which was the purpose of the lunch, NOT to stuff my face!
Compare all of this to the previous weekend, when I was going through some hellish emotional garbage. Martin bought THREE pints of various tempting flavors of ice cream and they were driving me nuts. I literally exhausted myself trying not to eat ice cream. Finally I had to buy my OWN pint and after trying everything under the sun to keep busy, ate most of it at one in the morning. There was so much emotional energy going into the trying not to buy it, buying it, trying not to eat it, eating it and feeling guilty about it. This weekend there was none of that.
So then I was able to jump right back into the new week and have a GREAT day with food and a GREAT workout!
Monday’s food:
Smoothie: 4 strawberries, 1 scoop protein powder, 1 raw egg white (hardcore!) 1 cup skim milk, ice, Splenda
1 serving steamed opakapaka (white flesh fish) with crab and lobster stuffing, 1 serving steamed veggies (some sort of greens) (business lunch)
1 chicken breast, 1/2 onion stir fried in 1 tsp olive oil, 2 small leftover apple pancakes
(Notice that I have taken the HUGE step of putting cocoa powder in my smoothies. I haven’t had chocolate in any form since January! This was another experiment and I haven’t exploded yet. That smoothie was kinda gross because this new protein powder I bought tasted bad. But I made another one today with no protein powder and 1 egg white, and added a tsp peanut butter (I buy the natural kind and DRAIN OFF EXCESS FAT!) and it was pretty darn decadent.)
***
Monday’s workout:
Legs:
(6 sets each of 12, 10, 8, 6, 12, 12 reps)
Leg press 90 pounds (quads)
Squats 4 sets (my mind wandered, I forgot I already did quads) all with 2 15 pound dumbbells
Standing dead lifts w/ dumbbells (hamstrings)
Calf raises (standing on tiptoes holding dumbbells)
Abs:
side crunches, 4 sets (12, 10, 8, 6) per side
regular crunches, 2 sets of 12
Okay I gotta go.
I am going on vacation this Thursday to Washington DC and won’t be catching up on posts until at least August 6th.
So I made an effort to catch up before I leave. I should have lots of pics when I get back!
Lots of love,
Chris

Hello everyone....I've been trying to catch up a little and have skimmed over the posts from the past two days. have really been wrapped up with the impending move of my mother to assisted living. The past two days have been consumed with getting some things here ready...choosing paint color for her room, shopping for a new mattress for her bed, getting a new tv for her room. She is moving 125 miles , so we didn't see the need of bringing some things that needed replacing or were too big. I will be going down east to be with my mom, helping my sister pack for this move from Thursday until Monday. We are moving her to an assisted living about 1 mile from my house on Monday. So I will be AWOL for a few days.
I was hoping to chat tonight and when I started the whole process at 9:15, I had to load Java 2 on my computer. It said it would take 19 minutes. It LIED> I felt like I was watching paint dry. It took 45 minutes to download...I'm sure because of my SLOOOOOW computer. Anyway, it was 10 pm by the time I was attempting to get into chat and then Frog IM"d me. So, hopefully I'm ready for next week! I do want to get to talk with you girls!!
Ok....I'm tired and need to crash, but have a few things I jotted down to mention....
Spelt Flour...FROG...I remember you asking about it....they have it at Earth Harvest....take both arms and a leg when you go to buy something there! hahaha.
I bought a Lo Carb 2 Lemon Meringue bar today...made by Biochem...anyone tried these? Also got a chocolate s'mores one...,but tried the lemon one today....it was tolerable, but what do they do???????....take sawdust and flavor it and make it into a bar???? Can anyone suggest something like it that they actually enjoy when having a craving for something dessert-y?
I also need some feedback on eating Chinese out....we went Monday night and I got cashew beef with brown sauce...didn't touch any rice or fortune cookie...also had Chinese Vegetable soup which was broth with cabbage, carrots, snow peas....left the carrots in the bowl....I don't know what is in brown sauce, but it was too sweet and good to have been legal....but the meat and broccoli and cashews were divine...did I really mess up? I guess we'll see tomorrow.
As for weighing, I'm determined not to weigh other than Wednesdays...too frustrating to do that every day.
I've recruited 2 of my very best friends to SugarBusters...they are a couple and we have been through many diets and talk diets all the time...I accompanied my friend to the grocery store today with my trusty SB shopping guide and coached her through the reading labels way of life!! It does require more time at first, but once we get going, I'll be able to snatch things off the shelf in my normal high speed chase through the store. This couple and I spend tons of time together with our children and eat out together a lot... It will be so great to have even MORE support from friends! I've encouraged my friend to check out this board and to join us! She is hilarious and you all would enjoy her great sense of humor!
Well.....I need to go before this Tuesday post becomes a Wednesday post! I'll try to get on tomorrow!
Karen3000...thanks for offering me your email address...when I'm not so sleepy, I'll write!
Good night all!

BW -- I haven't had much luck with low carb energy bars, they all taste pretty bad and cost at LEAST an arm and two legs each.
Being a very busy girl I have been searching for something "grab-n-go" and once I learned to handle baked goods I made muffin bread with eggs, ww flour, salt, baking powder (the usual) AND a hefty dose of fruit puree (applesauce or prune) and nuts (I like almonds). I used to use dried fruits too but I have cut that out. No added oil except what is used to grease the pan. Then I freeze them individually sliced in ziplock bags and throw them in the microwave, very fast! You could toss in some protein powder if you want something less carby.
But mainly I have been concentrating my imagination on my shakes, which are a base of 1 1/2 cups skim milk, ice, Splenda, protein powder. Then I will add frozen strawberries or recently, cocoa powder and peanut butter. Have tried unsweetened coconut and pineapple for a "pina colada." Or almonds. Or blueberries.
I bought a sleek brushed silver thermos from K Mart for $10. It doesn't hold much, 16 ounces I think, but fits nicely into my backpack (I bike to work). So I will make my shake in the blender, then toss it in to have after my workout in the morning. I can have it at my desk because it's as unobtrusive as drinking coffee.
***
BLOWING OFF STEAM COMING UP!
The cocoa powder has the following stuff in it for 2 tablespoons:
Overall I don't think it's a bad food although I have stayed away from chocolate for nearly 7 months.
So I made my after work shake. As I'm stirring some hot water into the cocoa powder, Martin walks up to me. He says, "how many calories in 2 tablespoons?" So I read him the label (above).
"Why do you ask?" I say.
"I'm trying to get you to stop eating that stuff."
"STOP GUILT TRIPPING ME!!!!"
"Okay, but when I have to ROLL you out of this apartment! How can you have cocoa on a diet?"
"I'm not on a diet."
"Bullsh*t you're not on a diet. What do YOU call it???"
Okay slightly condensed but that's basically how the exchange went. It made me very, VERY angry and I'm trying to figure out WHY???? Maybe because it was such a huge step for me to have the cocoa without wigging out. Maybe because I was able to eat ice cream Sunday without feeling guilty and like I was cheating, like last week, and it helped cut my cravings tremendously, and it felt like a victory. Maybe because my weight is none of his freaking business!
Okay, I was writing some more stuff but I'm going to stop there.
***
Today I did my 20 minute run and noticed that it took me so many months to be able to run a ten minute mile and now I was sorely disappointed because I did 2 miles in 20:10. I also took a long bike ride to the health food store because our car is shot to h*ll. Been adding speed bursts to my everyday bike rides on flat, clear, straight surfaces. That adds a workout to time I would be spending in transport anyway, not to mention cuts down on the actual ride time.
Very delicious fish salad! With chunked ahi, chopped celery and onions, almond oil, white wine vinegar, lemon juice, salt, pepper, served on tomato slices. 1 small apple pancake, 1/3 cup plain yogurt with Splenda and vanilla extract, served in an elegant little glass.
***
Martin had a whole frozen pizza for dinner, as he does about twice a week. Usually I am still tempted even though I don't eat that, and sometimes I would take a bite or so of toppings. Today I really paid attention to how I FELT when he was eating the pizza. Part of me missed the fun times when we would veg out in front of the computer watching DVD movies (we didn't have the huge TV then) eating pizza and drinking beer. It was fun. Things have really changed since then and although we have our good moments, and he's really supportive at times, the food has been a real issue between us, as has been working out at the gym (me doing it and he NOT doing it).
Part of me just automatically thought that I SHOULD be tempted when there was pizza around! Sort of an automatic reaction. I smelled the pizza deeply. It smelled sickeningly sweet, and I realized I wasn't hungry for pizza at all. I imagined the toppings, all the grease in just one bite, and remembered how I felt after eating that bacon Sunday morning. I had gotten the desire for grease out of my system THEN and tonight, when faced with the pizza, I only thought about the feeling of eating grease and not the taste of the pizza.
This so-called free day has been VERY good for me so far. I'm not the type of person who can go weeks on end without "cheating." Something in me not only wants to eat the food, but wants to be bad and rebellious. But at the same time I want to be good and feel awful when I eat something I'm "not supposed to." This is the best of both worlds and there has been a huge difference in my temptation AND frustration levels this week.
Well I've got to get my clean laundry in some sort of order so I can start packing tomorrow night. I can't believe I have only one more night before I leave on my trip. HELP!
Love,
Chris

Melf--I knew Eraste was from LA but didn’t know he was from your town. He is supposed to be a great guy, personally, besides just how he plays football. Even as a freshman, he had the reputation of already being a good leader on the team. I pray that he has a full recovery. Just a terrible thing to happen to anyone, esp. a young man.
Karen--Yes, my husband wants to play golf at one of those fancy courses. A big client of his will be paying for the golf, but if we come, we will pay for the transportation and the room and board. He is dying to come, and the trip to Door county is just the carrot he is dangling in front of me so I will say OK. It just seems like a bunch of money to play a game, but perhaps CATLOVER can clue me in to how to think like he thinks about the golf. I’ll let you know the dates.
Catlover--I’ve taken a few golf lessons and sometimes can hit the ball pretty good. However, sometimes I really do badly. It seems that there is only a few centimeters one way or the other that you can be off with your club and still hit the ball well. If you are 5 cms. too high, the ball gets topped, and if you are 5 cms. too low you hit way behind it. So is there an element of robotics here in this game? Tell me more about how it is fun, because I’m still trying to figure out that part. Other than the clothes. I have a closet full of cute tennis clothes.
Solshine--How are things going? How are your workouts doing? I’ve been there in the mornings or too early in the afternoon to get to see you. How was the reunion?
Have a great day, all. I’m off to get my hair done.

Good Wednesday Morning!
Well, it's WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY and for some they'll look at this as WONDERFUL WIW and others it will be WOE IS ME WIW! I take the later! I'm down from yesterday, yet up from last week and still even more up from my all time low-though I know it's from being mid-cycle, I still don't like seeing it! Hope it's better for the rest of you!
SPARKLE, if you saw my frown at 129, you should of seen my real face when I stepped on the scale and saw 130.5 yesterday! That was really a shocker! Back down to 129, so will take that better today. I guess seeing that 125.5 2 weeks ago was just too wonderful and I thought I'd be seeing my low cushion goal soon. Now, I'm just hoping to see my EOM goal of 127. You are so right, those numbers can do a number on us. Once I hit my 124 cushion goal, I will stuff the scale away and only pull it out on WIW. What wonderful willpower you showed during that lunch with your boss and that dessert-good for you! Like Eli said yesterday when we went to the movies and he offered me some popcorn, which of course I declined "what's a movie without popcorn" and I replied, "hopefully, a good movie!" I don't feel I need to eat something in particular to have a good time somewhere. You sound like you cook really well, I love fish, but hate to cook it! Have you tried carob instead of cocoa-it's wonderful!!! Have a great time on your trip, and remember, there are Trader Joes near DC!!!!
BELINDA, sorry the download took so long and you missed chat, but here's hoping for next week. That will be nice that your mother will be so close to you now. I hope the move goes smoothly for her, and you:) I don't really care for low-carb bars, but in a case of emergency, I would say the ones from WORLDWIDE SPORTS NUTRITION PURE PROTEIN bars are the best I have tried, particularly the peanut butter and the choc. deluxe-but I only had a couple before I decided that I could find something, like a piece of fruit, to eat in an emergency-but that's my opinion on the bar I would recommend if you wanted any of them. I am going to try to make a carob dessert, if it comes out good, will post the recipe-that would be something good you could have that's desserty! Sorry, I can't help on the Chinese, hate Chinese food (though I like Thai), what I do is ASK what's in everything-tell them you are highly allergic to sugar and corn startch and need to know-trust me, they'll tell you rather than take the risk of an possible law suit if you were really allergic and got sick!!!
NANCE, seems you must be running around with Dan being gone. Tried you again a bit after 7pm YOUR TIME-no answer-where've you been?????
Okay gals, gonna go-trying to get ready for a garage sale this weekend. Trying to determine if what I have is worth taking the time to sell, or should I just give it to charity-mostly clothing-lots to go through out in the patio, can't even walk out there!
Will check in with you all later!

I am saving for special occasion. I want to try to bake some goodies, and haven't before because I didn't have any agave. The stevia, I shld try in my coffee.......I have a weird thing about hating to use up goodies that are given to me as a gift!!!! OHHH... I have enjoyed the Starbucks too. Please be sure to tell Eli for me:D
UPDATE - Just poured another cup of coffee and sweetened with one packet of stevia.... I like it:D To be honest.. I could use 2 packets, is that bad, Deb???????
Ok...... well gotta get some "chores" done around here. Everything fell by the wayside while my neices were here Mon & Tues!!!!!!!! I need to get my "lawnmower ride" in before we leave tomorrow afternoon for the hills............

SPARKLE- Have a great time on your trip!!!!!!!! Thanks for the compliment on my sis and me:o I will be posting recent pics soon. Or Deb will, one......

GREETINGS!! I’M BAAAAAACK!!!!
I’m glad to report that I stayed under 200 lbs. my first few days back to eating real food. I’m at 199 and hopefully will be able to really start going back down. I do have a yummilicious recipe for French Onion Soup to post tomorrow. My office mate tried it and he said it was better than any fine restaurant’s version. (This is pretty much all I ate last week)
I had a blast at the reunion. We had about 50 people show up out of the 250 I graduated with. My mom came to the afternoon picnic and got to see everyone, too. She and my dad were 2 of the favorite chaperones for almost everything we did. Everyone was glad to get to see her – (amazing how much “cooler” she is now that I’m a wee bit older – she’s a lot smarter, too, but don’t tell her that!) Almost all of us have been going to school together since kindergarten so it was more like a family reunion than the stereo-typical competitive, judgemental reunions I kept hearing about. No one was “dressed to impress” and at the picnic many people had on very casual shorts and t-shirts. The dance Saturday night was a blast – we grooved the night away to the funky 80’s music we grew up with – “Baby Got Back”, “Funky Gold Medina”, etc. They had put together a great presentation of us travelling through life with pictures of many of us from kindergarten, grade school and high school finishing with wedding pictures and pictures of the kids. Vince played “Sonya’s husband” very well and even had some great conversations with other patient spouses. I’ll certainly be contacting the people who weren’t there to tell them what a great time they missed and to make sure they stay in touch so we can have a bigger turn-out for the 20th. Most everyone looked the same – some a little “rounder” and only a few a lot “rounder”. One girl said I looked exactly the same, just darker hair. (I’m 50 lbs. heavier than I was in h.s. so I don’t know if that’s a compliment or not  ) She was pretty tanked and I wore clothes to cover my fat, so maybe I do look the same to her.
I’m getting caught up on the posts and, hopefully, time permitting, will be back in the swing of things soon. Our plane didn’t get in until 2am Monday morning and I had to be at work at 7:30am. UGH!! I’m still hacking all over the place, but it is getting better, thankfully. The coughing at night has come to a minimum so Vince can sleep with me again. (With both of us coughing so much we had been sleeping in separate beds for a while.)
One of our biggest clients just laid off 4000 people and a lot of those being our contacts we have a hiring freeze on right now and our dept. is down 2 people (one gone, one on maternity leave) so I’ll be really busy for a while. I don’t get to hop on the ‘puter much at home so usually I’m at work when I post. I’ll be on when I can.
Glad to be back  !!

well I am not up but not down not that I reallly excpected to be down have been eating horrendously this week my only saving grace has been the fact that I am still working out.Heres praying I do better this week.
BOB...so sorry about your pain I hope it lets up soon for you.Other than labour I think mouth pain is the worst you can have.I remember when I had to have a root canal ....man what pain until I had it done then I could have kissed my dentist for relieving that pain for me.Kind of like my anastieoligst sp???? when I got my epideral I swear he had a glowing halo above his head
Sef....Thanks for your prayers and the chat last night.I appreciate your help on trying to get me back on track.
Melf....Sorry I didnt get to chat with you longer, next time I will try to make it on earlier.Yes I thank God every day for my son Derek he is a ray of sunshine and I am in awe that God gave him to me.The story about you daughter made me smile I remember when I was pregnant with Derek I wanted twins so badly and then after I had Derek I was so thankful that God knew me better than I knew myself cause there is no way i could have handled twins :)
Deb...Thanks for you reflection on the miscariages I hope I didnt bring back any bad memories for you, sometimes when your going through something like this you feel like your the only one,at least I did I could see past my own pain for awhile there.I will remember your thoughts on hindsight next time I go to grab some pizza :)
Sparkle...Yes I got the braids down proffesionally I am really starting to love them at first I didnt like them that much cause they were heavy and I didnt know what to do with all this hair I had very very short hair before so I had to learn how to style it etc etc but now I have adjusted and it will be weird to go back to short when I get them out.I am looking forward to your email and you have a great vacation will miss you:wave:

Happy WIW to all of you losers Hope the scale was nicer to all of you than it was to me. But then, that IS my fault & not that of the scale. I'm afraid that I'm still up since Sunday. 150 is a number that I had hoped not to see ever again, but it's been the same the last 3 days. I am swollen cause my feet & ankles show it, & I know that I'm not drinking enough water, so I'll get right to work on that.
Will post more later. SOLSHINE so good to see you back on board!! horrah!! Missed you & glad to hear that your reunion was a BLAST!
Went to pick up Mom at the Nursing Home to come spend the day, so let me get off of here & spend some time with her. Later gals,

OOOOOOPS!!!!!!!
WIW was good to me. But Kymn, I lied! :dizzy: Yes that's me. Dizzy or stupid, can't subtract apparently. I've lost only 46# not 48! Actually the scale keep wavering between between 52 and 53, but the type soul that I am I will take the lower number. :) Of course next week I will be perturbed because it hasn't gone down as I would like! Oh well cross that bridge..........!
That's a loss of 5 pounds this week, after sitting at the same place for so long! I really have been sitting here too long so will not give my erudite opinion on the posts. I just hope all did well today.
I'm getting brave in my dotage and playing with colors! I hope they come out! :D
My head is full of facts and figures from reading up on insurance plans! I think I will have to read and then think a while and go back to read! One plan has free membership at a health club and they have exercise classes for old f---s lioke me! :nono: Mustn't talk like that!
Well, I must move around a bit. Take care, sef

Hey Y'all!
Taking a break from surfing the web for airfare deals to Vegas/Calif.-boy, it can be taxing on a gal!
Not much going on down here-Eli is working late tonight, so it's just me and Michael for the evening. May watch an old movie I ordered if there's nothing on the boob tube-def. will hit the hay early tonight. Eli's off tomorrow and we're planning a day out with his daughter Denise if my Mom will pick Michael up from school-def. an Ole Ole day tomorrow!
AMSER, glad you liked the Balboostas. I get them at the HFS up in Broward. I've only bought the one bag since I don't eat them all that often, though they are just about gone, so will go buy some when BOB comes to visit. You can order them on the net, but shipping would probably make them not worth it-they're from Germany. I use 1 1/2pkts of stevia in my milkshakes (about 25 ounces), each persons tastes of sweets are different, so use what you like, just don't use too much, then it tastes nasty-bitter and a bit like licorice! Hope you bake something yummy with the agave nectar!
NANCE, you MUST get rid of that stress girl, it's no good any which way! Will be calling you tonight!!!
SOL, glad to see you back and posting. Sounds like you had an awesome time at the reunion and that you were able to come home and find yourself still under 200! WOO HOO!!! Recipe sounds yummy, can't wait to see it!
AR, hey, at least, like you said, you didn't gain-the exercise does help when the eating has been yucky! Don't worry, it seems the majority of us didn't lose this week, so you're in good company. Nope, no bad memories are brought back by me mentioning the miscarriages. Actually, I look at it in the way that if I didn't have them, I wouldn't have the 2 great kids I have now!!!! Honestly, I believe there's a reason for everything, and the ones I had may of been blessings in disguise!
MELF, hey, I know how you feel, 130 wasn't a number I wanted to see again either-but I did. Don't worry, things WILL turn around and down! Hope you have a nice day with Mom!
SEF, glad to see WIW was good for one of us here! CONGRATS on that big 5lb loss-whatever it was that you lost!! LOL!! Glad to see the poopie patrol paid off for you this week!!!! Seemed to help me a bit as well between yesterday and today! Hey, you did good with the colors!!!!
Okay, gotta go, Michael has requested time on the computer. Will check in later.
PLEASE REMEMBER TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY!!! If you have any SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the board, please, try to post them by tomorrow:)

It must be summer must be the only reason there is little posts today!!! Glad to know we all have busy schedules.
My my weight is exactly the same as last week. Not worried with that water gain & loss. I realize this seems to be a pattern here on the board and with me (week 1 8 lbs;week 2 none;week 3 2 lbs & now week 4 none) and the experts say 1-2 lbs a week is good. I've been super busy getting house ready for dad, sister & family. My dad who is a Texan flew in today until Monday. He's in town for business. My sister (from Maryland) is coming in on Saturday morn' and I'm hosting a BBQ for dad and my two brothers family & sister on Saturday so you won't be hearing much from me until Sunday. When they are all gone. I love getting together with my brothers. They live just 45 minutes away but are too "busy" to get together more than 2-3 times a year. Men. I'm sorry I missed chat. Son was on-line and some days it's not worth it to pry him off. Holding out for next week.
Welcome Grinch! Any significane to the name? Sounds like you're off to a great start. I don't have a clue why we don't succeed when we know how to do it. As a matter of fact, I'm living proof!!!
Gator-Have you tried TM with upbeat music? That always gets me revving. Really kick butt songs. See if that don't motivate you some.
Am-Lovely pictures. It looks so peaceful there! What a handsome family you have. Can't wait to see the rest. Hope you are getting back in the swing of homelife or at least caught up on the laundry :)
Sef-You "dookie" story didn't bother me a bit. Did remind me of a time I searched the internet about DETOXING the body. One message board was filled with vivid descriptions of their daily dookies. They definitely would have "one up'd" those seniors. Trust me I didn't go there again!!! You put it perfectly when you said the "I feel bad and deserve a break" eating. Done that plenty of times. Family reunions are the perfect time to see all bad habits at once. Glad to hear you were a good girl down those dark lanes. A local reporter wrote her opinion about why Pearl Harbor didn't fare very well and it had to do with the Hollywood vs. authentic morals of the time. Saved herself with dead fiancee but willing to hop in the sack with Ben Affleck? I agreed with her. Mostly because of the morals of the time. Although she put it much better than I did. She also quoted the Titanic picture. A girl from a good family in the cargo hold losing her virginity to a guy she just met??? Anyway it made sense to me.
Frog-sorry to hear you're under the weather. I bet you'll have a killer run when you've rested some.
Deb-Do you have a cloud following you? I would double check. So sorry about the weight gain. It was AWESOME that you didn't turn to food but to walking!!! What a healthy (pardon the pun) step you took!!! Time with Eli may be just the ticket!!! Thanks for all the yummy food tips. On payday I'm picking up all of your suggestions and trying them. You are so witty. I realized after I posted that it was 16 months. I thought you'd all get a good laugh out of that one!!! But we know it will eventually be 16 years!!!
RALY-Marie's cooking sounded wonderful. Can't wait to try it myself. You are the lucky one!
Nancy-Saturday just 3 days away!!! I loved the You've got mail story. Tell me more!!! Isn't it great when you love the person first before the rest? Peter actually works in a manufacturing company that makes specialized compressor packages like breathing air compressors for hospitals and such. He was in Taiwan on business in a dirty city of Kao shung (hope thats spelled correct). One day when the boys are grown we're going to visit together all the places he's been on business. (Alaska, Germany, Taiwan, Hong Kong, England, Japan, & Iceland so far) If I'm lucky he'll get a trip to the Carribean and Hawaii thrown in there too.
Well, going to sign off. Gotta swim since knee is still tricky. Peter went with buddy to a Pat Benatar concert in Richmond. I was joking them about all the guys with balding heads and jiggly bellies there. They weren't amused!

Well looks like the scale was good to me this week. I lost the lbs that I gained while being away from the boards for 2 weeks. I cut out eating bread, pasta, etc. I also started weights and the TM again also. This time Im gonna make it.
Been pretty busy playing golf and trying to work in the yard. The heat and the humidty are killers. Would like to respond to all of you but I am so far behind in reading posts, I dont think it will be possible.
Im sorry to hear about all the pain, disappointments, and depressions some of you are going through. It cant be easy but you are in my thoughts.

Poor Bob-OWWWW. I'm in pain just reading about yours. Hope that clears up your problems soon. When I was 23 I would've cured my chipmunk cheeks with a trip to the shore and a cold beer. Hope you're back on track soon. Acid zits are definitely worth good 'maters. And I will have an official "Bob bottle" of Two Shilling Red. Peter asked me what gives because I had a glass every night for 4 nights. I told him red wine has a short shelf life when opened and I'd be glad to share!!! Still thinking of wagon songs.
Melf-glad you got some relief before the EVIL GP got his hands on you. Hopefully when that nerve settles down you'll be relieved again! Good luck with the back to work. Lucky in 2 loves? That is super!!
Gator-it must've been awesome to be in the right place at the right time at the Crisis Center.
Deb-WOW. Amazed at your fabulous deal!!! Glad the dinner did the trick!
Sparkle-Have fun in D.C. and stay away from evil Congressmen!! Can't wait to see your pictures. Maybe Martin misses the times you had together too.
BW-My prayers are with you with your moms move.
Sol-glad you are back and you had such fun. And under 200!!
sef-You lost a bag of sugar! You go girl!!
AR-My good friend told me a miscarriage is just like losing a child. I'm so sorry. My prayers are with you. I identified with the glowing halo story. I had decided to go natural until the first really big contraction. Well, then I learned I had to have an I.V. for at least 20 minutes. I think I kissed the anisthesiologist when he arrived. They must be insane to make women go into balls while they are in labor. There's got to be a better way to insert that needle during pregnancy!! My husband said he had quite a face when that contraction hit and I moved. Sorry to digress off your subject. Just had to reminese I guess. Give that darling boy a hug for me!!!
I just realized I don't have to cook tonight. Can of spaghettios for the boys and I'm set. Went to find blueberries for a smoothie to see Benjamin had cleaned me out. I don't mind but tell that to my tastebuds who were anxiously awaiting blueberry smoothie!!
Goodnight all. Love Fly

hey everyone!!!! guess who bought a scale???? woo hoo!! LOL I will not be a slave to it but i figured with the hubby trying to lose it would be better than driving across town to weigh him in. I also think it will keep me more in line?! who knows!! I was 138.0 this a.m wooo hooo almost back to my lowest of 137.0 I am very happ with that since i have been a royal pig this past week end. The beach was beautiful and all those smells hmmmm!! Hubby is faring well i can't stand him!!!! he has lost 19.2 lbs in less than 4 weeks this Sun. will be 4 weeks what a pain huh? he is walking abound with his nose in the air!LOL nooo but he is happier which makes my life happier! And like i said he is keeping me in line and actually makes me feel guilty when i am having a no-no and he dosn't!
I took the kids to the mall for school -found nothing! i think they don't want to admit they will have to go back. I bought some capri pants printed for a retirement party i am going to. Size 6 and they are roomie! i don't think i will be going to 130. I like my size 6's! but i will try it out!!!! Today at the supermarket i checked out the bread they have more legal bread there! yeah! they actually had some semi legal hot dog rolls too but they where moldy! yuck! they had sprouted wheat bread i was very thrilled!

Evening:wave:
Getting ready to hit the hay and wanted to get in my last post of the evening!
FLY, it's okay, blame it on the summer heat that you didn't find page 2! Glad you aren't going nuts about losing, but instead are understanding your body and knowing that it goes through different fluctuations at different times. In the past, I didn't realize or acknowledge this and I would get soo discouraged and give up-when I started doing SB and reading the WWW more, I learned that this is to be expected, and I can see from my Weight Commander program that during those 2 times a month, I'm gonna see a gain. Sounds like you are going to have a fun and busy weekend, enjoy the time with your family.
RHOO, finally, you got a scale! Congrats! And congrats on being down near your low again-what an incentive! Size 6, you're smaller than me! And hubby seems to be doing well, maybe this can be a new business for you! LOL!!
CAT, CONGRATS on your loss. Seems so far it's you and SEF that were the lucky ones this week!
NANCE, glad I finally found you in-hope Nadia got her cabin fever out of her system. Will let you know if and when I finalize plans.
Hmmm, I see we are all slowly talking about how we met. Well, here's my story with Eli...I use to own a craft store in the same center where Eli worked at the pizzeria. I would order a pizza just about every day from him (along with going to the little store in the other area of the strip mall and buying 2 candy bars and a couple cokes each and every day!). There was no attraction AT ALL, I was still with #1 and he was dating some hussy (okay, I don't know her, but I don't like her either). Anyhow, I sold my business in Spring on 1992, a few months before Hurricane Andrew. Ordered pizza once in a while, but never got to see him, it really wasn't an issue at that point. THEN, when I started on the Richard Simmons Deal-A-Meal and started to walk, I started to walk by the pizzeria and one day in June of 1993, I just stopped in to say hello. He couldn't believe how I had changed and how I had lost weight. We started to talk, and then we went out as friends. He had changed his looks a bit too, so we both were somewhat different by then. He left for a trip for 3 weeks to Lebanon in July with his kids and all I could think about the whole time was him. We had our first "date" in August, bought the pizzeria in November (he taught me all he knew-LOL!)and we've been together since then-8 years next month! We come from 2 different sides of the world, different religions and different backgrounds-but our respect for each other is undeniably solid. We really love to do the same things, despite our differences. We enjoy each other's company more than anyone elses and most of all, we're each other's best friend, something I never was with my husband. So, there's my little story:)
Will be MIA for most of the day tomorrow since Eli is off again, but will try to post in the morning after my walk while I cool down.
Nite everyone!

I HATE cooking fish too! It just frightens me. But I know that it’s good for me and am cutting down on beef, my former staple, and so I’m experimenting. That fresh ahi (tuna) salad I made yesterday was just awesome, even better the next day! Carob YUCK! ;) From the ingredients, I don’t think cocoa is so bad so long as I don’t start bingeing on it, then it’s history. Other than the caffeine and I have enough of that throughout the day that it doesn’t matter.
Good job on the movie without the popcorn. It’s amazing how much food we used to eat just because it’s expected or customary. That’s what I am mastering right now – eating the food I really love and not eating ANYTHING just because it’s there, or to please somebody else. It’s a long, hard road but I’m getting there.
Ann
Never heard of stevia having any ill effects. Seems to be the only “safe” sweetener that has less calories than sugar. I don’t like it, however. I bought a quite expensive canister of protein powder from the health food store and was excited to see that it contained “stevia extract” but it tasted JUST like laundry detergent! (Don’t ask how I know)

YEAH YOU’RE BACK! I’m so happy!!!!!!!!
I’m glad the reunion was a blast, that getting groovy to 80s music sounds like a lot of fun! Actually we have “retro night” every Saturday at a club down the street (Rumors in the Ala Moana hotel) for when I really get the urge for cheesy 80s music. Can’t wait till Becca comes home cause she loves that stuff too.
Glad your cough is on the mend. Congrats on the weight going down and good luck with work, sounds like you are a busy bee as usual!
Kymn
Thanks for the answer to my email. It must have taken you a while to grow your hair in. I have very short hair, right now VERY short and I love it! I literally don’t have time in my schedule to fuss with my hair.

I’ll definitely have pictures when I get back. Yeah things definitely changed with my new way of eating. As I said, there are a lot of rewards, but a lot of sacrifices too, and not just food.
Oops gotta go!

Hi everyone
Well there was no loss for me this week but it looks like I am not alone. Congrats to all of you who did lose. I hope to join your ranks one of these days. I was just getting ready for a bike ride this morning when it started to rain so put the bike away and went downstairs and did 5.5 miles on the SB. It's amazing how much easier the SB is than the real bike.
Melf - Thanks for posting the pizza recipe. I hope to try it soon. Probably wait until next week when my ds returns from his holiday so I don't have to cook it for me alone. I've just been phoning around to some motels and found a vacancy for the weekend I wanted. Had to book up for two nights as they wouldn't book for one as it is a long weekend but that is O.K. We were hoping to avoid coming back on the holiday Monday but we'll just have to put up with the traffic or try to leave really early in am to avoid the congested roads. Hope you enjoyed your Mom's visit to-day.
Solshine - Glad to hear you had such a good time at the re-union. And WOOHOO on staying under 200 pounds. That must make you feel very happy after struggling so long to get there.
Fly - I loved reading your romantic story. WOO HOO for you sitting through a movie without eating popcorn.
Amseraphim - Thanks for posting those beautiful pictures. You look very pretty. Looking forward to seeing your latest pics. Hope you enjoyed having your two nieces with you.
Sef - Congrats on the five pound loss. Thank heavens you got rid of the dookie before WIW - although for me it never seems to make any difference. I've tried weighing before and after and it is always the same!
Ralynn - Sounds like you have enjoyed having the exchange student with you. Maybe some of her good eating habits will rub off on to your little sister.
BelindaW - Hope your Mom's move goes well. It's nice that she will be close to you.
Nance - Loved reading your story. Eagerly awaiting the next episode.
AR - Sorry to hear you have been in a depression. Don't worry about rambling, we are all here for you. I'm glad you both survived your son's first sleepover.
BOB - Ouch - that's quite a bit of surgery you had. Hope you are feeling better by the time you read this. Why does everyone think that Toronto is WAY UP NORTH. I think we are no further north than Boston or Syracuse and yes we do get lots of hot and HUMID weather although this summer had been cooler than usual until this past week.
Sparkle - Hope you enjoy your trip to NC.
Deb - Hope you get to Ole Ole tomorrow. Sounds like one of your favourite places. What are Balboostas?
Rhroo - Glad to hear things are going well for you and that you have a new scale. WOO HOO. You must be very pleased with hubby's progress.
All for now.

Hello
Well, WIW was good to me, and don't ask me why. Although I have been trying to stay on program and continue walking, when you go away for a few days, things get turned up side down. Anyway, I am down 4 pounds from last week and back to only two from my goal of my new wristwatch. I better hit that goal some, so I am gonna have to dust the watch off before I wear it.
I am finally trying some of the recipes. Question for Deb.. when I made the oatmeal cookies, they were very bland and moist, seemed like they may have needed some kind of sweetener. Any idea what I did wrong?
THis is gonna be short, getting last and I have to be at work at six in the morning. Have a great day everyone.

I was busy yesterday and didn't have a chance to post. I got up at 5:30 to go for a run and it was pouting down rain. I may try to run here again in a few minutes or will have to do Yoga instead. Really, really need to run!!
WIW Report - I stayed the same, stuck now at 148.
Don't have time to respond, gotta get my day started!
Check back later!

Good Early Morning Everyone!
Have a few minutes to post a quick one before I hit the road with Michael and then my feet.
Got our reservations to Vegas last night!!!! We will spend a few days in Vegas and then head over to meet NANCE, DAN THE MAN and the kids-AND an extra bonus, I get to meet LDBLOND as well!!! Can't wait! We'll leave August 19th (on an ungawdly 5:30am flight) and return on another early flight on August 26th. Already requested a fruit plate on the meal up-watch them give me a banana:eek:
SPARKLE, carob is actually pretty darned good-tastes just like chocolate to me. I put a teaspoon in my "milkshakes" I like the fact it has fiber as well. I bet there in HI you have a great selection of fish, not only do I not like cooking it, it's pretty expensive down here as well-and you wonder why, since we are surrounded by water, like you;)
ROSALIE, good for you! Instead of the rain putting a damper on your bike riding and you not going, you found an indoor alternative! Yes, Ole Ole is def. one of my fav. places to eat-nothing exciting, I get the same thing every time, a Cobb Salad (I know, at a Mexican place?). One day, I'll shock everyone-I'll take my WW tortillas and get fajitas!
Ballastoos (spelled it wrong before) are a little "snack" I found at the HFS, thought they were a snack chip, but in actuality they are a ceral. They are made with Spelt and only sweetened with apple juice. I think the sugar grams were only 1 gram for an ounce serving-they're really good. Here's the link to see them:
LAMAP, CONGRATS on a great loss! You'll be wearing that watch before you know it! I'm not sure which oatmeal cookie recipe is on the board, will have to look when I get the chance, but the one I made last week is NOT posted on there YET. Going to try to get that on tonight along with some notes since I haven't made them since the first time and wanted to play around with it. Let me know which recipe you used (which board it was on).
Okay, gotta get dressed, will still try to check in when I cool down from my walk. Will post some recipes later tonight:)
Have a wonderful day!!

GOOD MORNING ALL
How is everyone? Haven't been able to read the posts lately. I'm finally busy at work and home life is always busy and can't ever seem to get people out of my house. It's driving me crazy and I'm ready for fall for my peace and quiet.
Well my mom took Marie to Sam's Club and bought food for the party. Marie was suprised to see how cheap Calvin Klein jeans were. She said in France $80 and shirts aren't cheap either. Took her to Bath & Body Works and bought lots of stuff. I love that store, you can't go in there without buying some lotion and body spray. It'll be real nice saturday for the party, just need to do all my yardwork and clean my house.
My hubby goes back to work monday and he found out they are putting him on 2nd shift and that they were bought out. They laid off 30 people too. He's not very happy and has an interview on friday somewhere else. That's just a long story there, but I hope he gets out because of all the bullsh*t that he puts up with by his manager. He gets too stressed out there and comes home grumpy everyday. Too stressful for me.
My son lost his 1st tooth finally. He's 8 years old and finally lost a tooth. He was sooooo excited about it. Tooth Fairy will be visiting him now.
WIW I have no idea. i haven't been on the scale in a couple of weeks and have been in a mood, so I thought best to stay away from the scale. I notice lots of us are having problems with weight right now and is it the stars or what? I do much better in the winter anyway. I always lose weight then, rather than the summer and I think it's because I'm so damn busy in teh summer and all the damn cookouts.
Well gotta go. Everyone take care

Happy Thursday a.m. Sat down to try to catch up and just like the phone the boys won't leave me alone. I guess I'll have to move the PC into the bathroom to get some privacy!
Anyway, have a good day. Deb-do some walking for me! I'll just take 1 mile ok? You can have the rest. Thanks for that romantic "how we met" story. As some of the ladies can see. It's not necessarily dead after the initial first meet. Although, for some, one meeting is enough. Anybody watch "Blind Date"?
Anyway, gotta go referee the boys again.
Love, 'Fly
Chris-will be praying for a safe journey for you today. Hope that jet lag isn't too bad.

I've been wandering around here trying to get a handle on how all this works. I see I've already made my first "faux pas" by starting a "New Thread" when I should have hit "New Reply." OOPS!!! Sorry. Anyway, I made it through my first day without screwing up! I guess it's just one day at a time. I don't have a scale, so I need to use the one at the home of my dear friend, Belinda Wannabe. I was there last night, but forgot. I have a pretty good idea what my weight is, but I need to make sure before I go posting it for the world to see!
I am looking forward to getting to know many of you and hope this will FINALLY work for me. I need all the encouragement I can get. This is so much better than going to Weight Watchers!!! I always wanted to slap somebody after going there (not that I did a lot of going there anyway).
I need some advice on the best way to exercise. I'm in terrible shape and do very little. I feel like for now it might be best to just get started trying to walk before I dive into too much at the beginning and get stressed out and overwhelmed over some tedious program. I'd appreciate advice in this area. Thanks so much!

O.K. I guess I should try to introduce myself a little better. I am 37 years old. I have a wonderful husband and a beautiful (and brilliant) 6 year old son (aren't they all). My son is a fraternal twin, but his twin brother died of a heart defect when they were 1 day old. When one life ends, another often begins, and it was my life that really began after the loss of my child. I have been much more "in touch" I think since then.
I worked at the I.R.S. (boo! hiss!) for about 7 years. . . stayed home 3 years with my son. . . spent a couple of years in odd jobs. . .now I teach 1st grade. I just finished my 1st year of teaching and I really did enjoy it. It's a challenge, but a great blessing also. Kids can be such a hoot! Never a dull moment!
My good buddy (Belinda Wannabe) has been the catalyst for my husband and me to get into the SB thing. We are both becoming slugs. I don't want to wake up 40 and realize I'm bigger than ever. I'm counting on you guys to see me through this. Love and thanks!

I am going to post an “off the top of my head” version of the French Onion Soup as I’ve made it so many times – but will double-check when I get home to make sure I didn’t leave anything out.
Telling love stories, are we? Vince-meister moved back to Orlando and started attending the Bible study group I was in. I thought he was new to the organization so I went out of my way to make him feel welcome (turned out he had been in longer than I had, just in a different city). Then our friends started trying to hook us up together and pairing us up when we did things in groups. He thought I had too much growing up to do (Ha!!) and I thought he was too stuffy and stiff (double Ha!!) His posture is so good, y’all, I thought he had had that surgery where they put a metal rod around your spine and you can’t move or bend. Well, after they quit trying to put us together we started hanging out more as friends and I tried to set him up with several of my girlfriends….. One night I know my girlfriend felt like the fifth wheel because of all the cutting up Vince and I were doing. Another night my roomie was having a “make-up” party where everyone gets a facial and a makeover. Well, I’m not into that at all so I called Vince and begged him to save me and meet me for dinner. Told my friend he was upset about his job and I was going to dinner with him to comfort him. Thought he was going to kiss me that night, but he never did….Then, one day soon after that he called my phone mail at work and left the most erotic message I’ve ever heard – I decided maybe he wasn’t all that “stuffy” after all and did know how to have fun. I think he still has me in the immature category sometimes. :D
FLY – Do you have a mall there? We have a mall walking program and you can get in before the shops actually open to walk – I’ve used it before when the weather was really bad. They don’t charge anything here when you do that.
CATLOVER – Good to hear from you! Glad things are going well. That heat and humidity stinks, don’t it?
BOB – Sending lots of good thoughts your way!!
NANCEMEISTER – Anxiously awaiting the next installment of your story!!
MELF – Hoping for a speedy recovery and good non-dizzying pain pills for you!!
RHONDA – So glad Hubby is doing so well! Sounds like he’s gotten a good dose of self-esteem and can now rejoice with you. Let us know if he gets as neurotic about the scales as we do.
MARIE – I weigh before and after sometimes too and it doesn’t make a difference for me either. It’s great that you have the SB to fall back on when the weather doesn’t cooperate.
SPARKLE – Enjoy your trip!! Can’t wait to see those pictures!! You and FROG are going to be meeting too, aren’t you? Sounds like Martin misses your undivided attention. Maybe y’all can build some other “traditional” times together to replace the pizza eating one. Just a thought… ‘Twill be interesting to see what develops when you two aren’t living together and have to make an effort to see each other, won’t it?
BELINDAW – Hope everything goes smoothly with your mom’s move. I type my post into Word and then copy and paste it into the reply box when I’m through – otherwise I forget someone or the computer farts and I lose everything – a couple of times of that and I want to pull my hair out.
GRINCHY – WELCOME!! You’ll get the hang of it. I started walking and I just went for 15-20 minutes at a time – once I got that down I concentrated on upping my speed for the same amt. of time and then started adding 5 or 10 minutes every so often. Now I can walk for about 2 miles in 40-45 minutes. I had gotten faster at it, but I’ve been sick and haven’t done anything for a couple of weeks. I also joined a gym in March where you get personal training sessions with the intro fee. It was great to have the motivation and someone helping me set a personal do-able weight training program according to my goals, ability, health and weight. Get a good walk-man for those walks and pick out some groovy uplifting music or good books on tape that you can’t listen to unless you’re walking. Those are a couple of things I’ve done that worked also. There’s lots of variety in the work-outs here. I’m sure something will jive with your style and personality – keep trying things to find what you like and what works for you.
KYMN – Your story of shaving the dogs reminds me of a story about Vince’s little sister. She cut the whiskers off their kitten one time and denied it. Later at lunch his grandmother turned around and asked her if it hurt the kitty when she cut her whiskers and his sister shook her head that it didn’t and almost immediately realized that she’d blown her cover. Kids are funny, aren’t they?
I know I didn’t get to everyone, but time is passing too quickly. If I can get back on tonight I will. Have a great day everyone!!

I'm baaack! A little bummed cuz I planned a mini vacation at the beach and it's looking like we're going to get some real powerful storms here. Bummer! Guess I'll go workout and then clean the toilets. I'm going to rollerblade and test the knee out. I hope these pretty intense winds don't blow me away. (Like there's a chance at 173 ha,ha) If you guys are interested I will post some of the pics from that 1st romantic weekend and you can see how silly I looked. Sorry, went to do the oatmeal bars for receipe day and I don't have yogurt. That's 2 bad things today. For all you superstitious people out there I had my third bad experience on the bus. Got stuck on a narrow lane with ditches on both sides between 4 Mack trucks! But, wonderful driver I am, I got out of that great! I find myself thinking about weight stall and then I push the thought away. Hopefully, next week I'll see another loss and it won't be so bad.
I watched a show last night about the Roman Empire on PBS. Not exactly chick flick but I learned a lot. Evidently I was sleeping in class when that was covered before. If Nero were alive today he'd be marked "At risk". Seems he used to catch flies and stick pins in them. Ugh. Future serial killer in the making. He only did the killing on a grand scale since it was his big idea to feed the Christians to the lions. Gotta keep the brain going cuz this a.m. I read a Prevention article that pointed out high sugar intake kills brain cells. At least our WOE keeps our brains intact.
Bob-hope your pain is less intense! Hang in there. I thought of a more modern theme song for the wagon but I have to find out the name before I post it here.
Rhonda-Congrats on 138!!!! Maybe you'll be scaling new lows now!!! And congrats to dh too! It's a real shame they have to lose that fast and we don't. Some guys even develop attitudes like "this isn't so hard". "I don't understand why you can't". Hopefully, he isn't one of them. I love the beach too. My heart always feels lighter when I begin smelling the salt air of home. As long as I'm not passing the Perdue plant on the Eastern Shore.
Deb-aren't you glad you weren't doing SB when you met Eli? That would've been a story that wasn't was knowing your resolve. Respect is such a vital element of a happy marriage I think. Can't wait to meet him in person. We already know a lot about him.
Marie-I know about the sb vs real bike. That SB comes in handy on very windy days! Real bike is so much better for the view, the smells, and working those stabilizing muscles! Glad you could find a motel, maybe that second day will be a blessing in disguise!
Laurie-nothing worse that getting your mouth all ready and not have the cookies be good. I hope you have better luck next time.
Frog-hope the run was awesome and you're feeling better.
Rlynn-Sounds like extra stress around the house. It's stressful to make changes even when the bonuses are there. Hope he finds a job he's happy with for his and your sake. My philosophy has become If you hate work---get out!!!! I worked for a utility company for 18 years. I was unhappy the last 5 and finally quit. It was a veeerrryy difficult decision to make with lots of factors I won't go into now. I'm so glad I did. I'm happier, less stressed, and my family has benefitted. As it is, with the changes in the market, my office was closed down 2 years later. Congrats on the tooth fairy visit too.
Grinch-Just keep typing til you get the hang of it! Don't worry-you can't take my spot "Queen of Mistakes" is firmly mine! :D I have to know why you wanted to slap at Weight Watchers. Was it my reason? The super smug looks and the superior attitude of the losers there? Look, I was happy for them. But I wanted to slap them too. Thank goodness I don't act on all my impulses. I definitly know about the "Oh my gosh I'm going to be 40 syndrome". Went through that myself. I'm happier now than in my late 20's early 30's. As to your exercise. Baby steps. Walk would be my recommendation. Then let your body tell you when it wants more. You'll be surprised. Also, try variety. It really keeps it from becoming a rut. That includes taking the kids to the park and running around. If you haven't done that--it's pretty intense!!
AR-way to go on the workout! It is habit forming isn't it! That's a good habit to have. P.S. Is the dog bald?
BW-thinking of you. Hope there's not glitches.
Well, only have 20 oz of h20 so far. Gotta get more in. glug, glug, glug.
Off to the rollerblades.

Had a pretty good day today. It was rough getting back into the routine after being away all this month. But I hung in there & feel better about being back to work. I think I can survive. LOL
ROSALIE, Great! You've persisted & found some accomadations. I so excited for you. I'm sure the family will enjoy spending the time with you as well. Don't feel too bad about not losing any weight this week. I'm still up too. Just can't seem to get that scale to buge, but I did handle the 8 hr shift today & stayed busy, so I'm hoping to see a change tomorrow. I also drank more water today.
LAMAP, 4 lbs! that's great!! Don't question it, just take it. LOL You'll probably be putting that watch on by next WIW at that rate. So glad for you.
Grinchy Welcome to the board! Sorry I had not noticed your thread, or I would have responded sooner. Glad Belinda talked you into joining us. This WOE is absolutely the best & this group is too. Just fire away with your questions & you're sure to get your answers. We are all in the same boat, or according to BOB, same WAGON...:) Debbie is our champion walker. I like walking but have stread away from it lately. I am planning to get back to it soon though. Exercise really does make a difference in the losing, but also in all around health. Makes me feel great when I walk. Good luck to ya, whatever exercise you decide on. Just read your second post & am in awe with the positive outlook you have on life. @--->--- That is my version of a rose. I send it to you with admiration.
Ralynne, Hope all works out with dh's interview for new job. Sounds like he may need a change. Sounds like Marie is having a great time. How long will she be with you?
Debbie sounds like a wonderful trip you have planned. Enjoy. Thanks for sharing your & Eli's love story. It's really neat to get to know more about each person on the board thru our romances & life struggles. I feel so blest to be part of this board.
Solshine, Good to see you posting again. I always love your stories. Enjoyed hearing how you & Vince got together. Thurman & I met at a church get-together also.
BUTTERFLY, Sorry your beach outing got rained out. It has poured raining here all day today & doesn't look like it wants to stop. The grass is already so high that I'm afraid we'll need to tractor to get it cut once it dries enough to cut it. LOL
AMSERAPHIM, Where are you? Missed your post today. Hope all is ok.
Adams_rib/KYMN If those boys hear you with that tought, they may just try. Better hide the razors just incase.
Got to go. Doing stir-fried butternut squash, (from the garden), fresh cukes from the garden, & grilled chicken patties made locally. Good & spicy, cajun style. Then early to bed so I can handle tomorrow's shift. See ya!

Evening All:wave:
Have a few minutes to post before a show that I want to see comes on. Had a nice day with Eli, nothing special, just time with him is enough.
Came home and made a new recipe for CAROB WALNUT COOKIES-definintely a keeper! I will post the recipe later. Unfortunately, I ate 6 already and finally had to give them to Eli to hide. He liked them a lot, Michael said they were okay, my neighbor liked them a lot as well.
I got the pictures back and will work on getting some of them posted tomorrow. Someone (sorry, I forgot who it was) suggested that we have a thread just for pictures here on our site-any thoughts on this idea??
RALY, I think my daughter should own stock in B&B, she has soo many flavors! She comes out smelling like a fruitcake! Goof luck to hubby and his interview. Hope the toothfairy has good flying weather!
GRINCHY, glad to see you made it on the right board:) Welcome again! Are you friends with FROG as well as BELINDA? Encouragment you want, you will find it right here for sure! I couldn't of done what I have without the encouragement of the gals on this board-they are all truly angels! I have to say, walking WOULD be the best. When I weighed 284lbs 17 years ago, it was a lot for me to get a few hundred feet, but each day I went out and walked a little further, as I lost weight, I was able to go further and faster-and here I am, still walking and still loving it! Once you are out there, you just feel so GOOD! Thanks for sharing a little about yourself with us. When you get the time, please do post your BIO on the BIO BOARD:)
BELINDA, trust me, you are NOT the first person to lose their post! I hit a key and things seem to vanish! Unfortunately, we all do it, and it will happen to us all again, sucks big time, doesn't it!;) Like I told GRINCHY, whenever you have the chance, please do post your BIO on the BIO BOARD:)
SOL, thanks for sharing your story with Vince-somehow though, that thought of BIBLE STUDY and an erotic message just doesn't go hand-in-hand in thought;) LOL! I see you posted that darn picture of Eli again!!!!! LOL!!!
FLY, you are too funny, workout and clean the toilets-what a great workout you must of had! You can come workout at my house anytime!!! I do hope one day you and the rest of the board will get to meet Eil-BOB can tell you, he's a character!!! Just think of the picture SOL put at the end of her post-THAT'S HIM!!!! LOL!!!
Gotta run, be back later or tomorrow morning-until then, here's a picture you can take a gander at!

I'm here at the end of day #2 with a splitting headache. My body is saying, "Where's my hot fudge sundae and sweet tea?!!!" I could live without bread or anything akin to it the rest of my life if I could just have my ice cream every day. I am so addicted to it. I had sugar free pudding, but it was kind of funky. I'm not much of a pudding person anyway, so bad pudding is the pits.
Debelli - Belinda is my dear, dear friend. Several years ago we were merely acquaintances at church. Then, I had this dream that we would become best friends. I told her about it just for fun, but had no idea that it would or could actually happen. Now here we are. . . she's the closest thing to a sister I've ever known. I have recently gotten to know Frog through Belinda. Frog's a cool, cute gal. . . I hope to spend more time with her in the future.
Melf - thanks for thinking my outlook is positive. Those who live with me may not always agree with you! I really appreciate the rose. Everyone here is so nice. Thanks! :)
VAbutterfly - yep. . . those weight watchers folks can get a little too "up in themselves" for my taste. (Not that they're bad people, but I could have unleashed a lot of pent up anger on some of them with now regrets!! :s:

Hi everyone
Well, the scale was good to me this morning. :D I'm almost afraid to say it in case it doesn't stay but I weighed in at 198 pounds. I thought I would never see the needle go below 200. It must be the time of year. It was last August when I started to lose again after having stalled for about 7 months. Let's hope this is the beginning of a losing spell.
I had quite an active day. Did four miles on the SB this morning then went out for a ride on my bike for about 15 minutes then went for a swim. Swam about twenty lengths of the pool. Went to see a movie this evening. Saw 'Legally Blond'. Thought it was rather crappy. I actually sat through it without eating anything, just took a diet sprite with me. I had been thinking about taking some Shredded Wheat and Bran for munching but decided to do without. I'm trying to cut out evening snacks. I'll have to try and go to bed at a resonable hour so I am less likely to need to snack.
Lamap - Congrats on the four pound loss. You'll be wearing that new wristwatch very soon.
Frog - Hope you got in your run this morning.
Deb - Thanks for posting the link to the Ballastoos site. I've never seen them in the store but I will keep my eyes open for them. It sounds like they would be a good snack. I picked up some Finn Crisp Whole Rye Crispbread to-day. They are very good. Have you tried those? Glad to hear you have booked your trip to Vegas. I am sure you will have a wonderful time visiting with Nance and Ldblond. Is anyone else going to Vegas at this time? I loved the pictures.
Ralynne - Hope things go well for your dh at his interview tomorrow. Have fun being the tooth fairy.
Grinchy - Welcome to the board. I think you would do well to start your exercise program with walking. It's easy to do and doesn't require any equipment as well as being a good exercise. If you are interested in doing any other exercises there are many video tapes available for exercising at home. That's what I started off with last year although I haven't used them lately as I have been getting other exercise like swimming, bike riding and badminton. They're good to have for the bad weather or rainy days when you don't want to be outside.
Belinda - We have all lost posts at one time or another and it is very, very frustrating. I always type mine in Wordpad and copy and paste them into the Reply page. Much less chance of losing them this way. Just make sure to save it periodically if it is a long post just in case the power goes out or something happens before you finish typing. That way you can always retrieve what's been saved.
Solshine - That was a cute story about the kitty getting his whiskers cut off. Funny how kids always like to cut things. I can remember waking up one morning when my dd was about three years old. She was standing by the bed and touching my head. There I was thinking what a sweet little thing when I felt something cold on my head. She had a pair of scissors in her hand and was just about to cut my hair. I woke up in the nick of time (no pun intended).
Fly - Sorry you couldn't get out to your mini vacation to-day. But cleaning toilets instead - yuck. I'd love to see some pictures of your romantic weekend. I hope your knee survived the rollerblading.
Melf - Glad to see you are back at work. It always takes a couple of days to get back into the swing of things. Hope your mouth and back pains are getting better. I too have been drinking lots more water the last couple of days. Maybe that has helped to get things moving again (weight I mean not dookie!). Some days I just forget about drinking lots of water, other days I do fine. I find it much easier when I am at home though. It's much harder to drink a lot when I am working.
Must get off to bed as I have to get up at 6 a.m. for work.
Bye
Marie.

Hi all.. I'm brand new to Sugar Busters, fresh off an unsuccessful stint on atkins (though it was defnately effective on sugar withdrawal)..
I have a couple of questions that i hope someone can help me with.. I read the book, but a few things are still unclear.
1. What type of milk product is best used in coffee (decaf, whatever)? I've heard conflicting viewpoints.
2. know the book says "whole grain only not "whole meal" breads"
From what does the prohibition on whole meal come?
Example. The Mestemacher whole rye with museli, is made from
Whole Kernel Rye, water, wholemeal rye, wholemeal wheat, oat flakes, non-sulphurated sultanas
whole hazelnuts, sunflower seed, linseed, sesame, yeast and salt.
it has 0 sugars and 6 grams of fiber.
Why would this not work? What does the "wholemeal" element take away ? (or does it?)
Obvioulsy this wouldn't be something i'd eat a "lot" of but i'm a little confused anyway.
Thanks! and its great to meet you all :)

Hello Everyone!
So sorry I have been AWOL. But my internet connection has been down. Wow! What an exercise in frustration!!! It's amazing how we get so easily accustomed to something and then whoops, what do I do now??? Last night I read for the entire evening because I couldn't get online. It was really quite nice. But I'm glad to be back with you all and getting caught up on what's going on.
Not much excitement happening around here. We will be gone ALL day tomorrow for a family reunion. It's about 4 hours away, so we will leave around 7:30 tomorrow morning. Ugh! That's going to be tough. We wanted to stay the entire weekend but had no one to watch Miss Maddie. The neighbor will watch her throughout the day tomorrow. So that is good.
My eating habits continue to be ******. On program/off program. I think I need velcro affixed to my bottom so I can stay on that wagon. But everyday I get up and begin again. That's all I can do at this point. It seems like after I've been doing something for a few months, I get really tired of it and then lose everything I know to do. It's the same with WW. Got tired of losing points and bagged everything I learned. I really admire you all who have been on this for over a year. Your commitment to yourselves and a healthy lifestyle of so admirable. How do you do it? I try to keep focused on the "prize" (a slim, trim healthy body), but something is missing.
Oh well, as long as I keep trying. I guess that's one step in the right direction. Haven't been able to read, but will get caught up hopefully today. Welcome to all the newbies.
Take care.

Happy Friday all! Just a quickie to check in. Have my water handy. 8oz so far. But it is 9 a.m. Just finished my coffee and oatmeal. I love Fridays because the elementary kids don't go to school on Fridays. I have a much bigger break. Scale still stuck but I'm optimistic. Especially with Rosalies and others losses. If they can be patient...so can I. Everythings cleaned. Just waiting for the rental place to open and go get a rollaway bed. I love that! $10 and I get a plastic covered bed and don't have to boot anyone out of their bed. I just wipe it down with bleach water and let it air dry. Put a mattress pad and sheets on & we're ready to go. It took me too long to discover that was available. Anyway, now trying to think if I missed anything. I'm really looking forward to the visit. My sister called yesterday and she's coming in a day early. I'm so glad. Just praying for sunshine and warmth for BBQ on Saturday. Will be making plenty of sb legal food. After July 4th I am confident I can get through that just fine. I can tell you one thing though. I was cutting up carrots for Peters fried rice last night and without thinking stuck two pieces of carrots in my mouth. I forgave myself. It's funny the habits I have. I waited a while but my insulin level didn't rise as far as I could feel. Have a great Friday and Saturday all. I'm going out to a seafood tonight. Looking forward to great fresh broiled fish and a nice salad.
Melf-So glad to hear from you. I bet getting back into work will be just what the "doctor" ordered. Glad you're not overdoing it. I'm interested to hear more of the "Thurman" story.
Deb-The picture thread sounds good to me. Loved the pic of you and Amser! I always pictured Eli singing Italian songs and flinging dough into the air. Now you say he hangs out in skirts??? LOL. I can't even imagine you at 284. Glad to see you still aren't there.
Sol-What a wonderful foundation for a relationship to grow from. Bet you were studing the Songs of Solomon ;) .
Grinchy-Hang in there. The first two weeks were the worst and you'll be out of it before you know it. I'm almost through week 4 and finally got my energy back. I love the "even keel" feeling. I can't put it any other way. I haven't touched much legal sweets except fruit and hardly any breads. With me if I touch it is likely to get out of control. Lots of water to wash out the sugar toxins and may help with the headache too. I just want all to know and I'm sure you agree that Weight Watchers are a great institution and has helped many people in the past and will still help others. It just wasn't for me.
Rosalie-198!!!! I'm doing a happy dance for you! Today I looked at my starting point on the scale and was glad at how far I'd come. Sorry you didn't like Legally Blonde. Yes, it was stupid. But I found it funny too. The faux fur was too cute. Plus the bend and snap! You are going to be a Bi-Athlete soon with the biking and swimming! I'm so glad you woke up in time before you got your haircut. I have a picture when I was five when my brother decided the morning of the pictures to give me a haircut. I wasn't so lucky.
AmyG.-Welcome!!! You'll love it here. Some of the regulars are gone because this seems to be relative weekend. You'll find lots of support here with the regulars who are here. I am relatively new (6/29) but these great people got me started on the right track. They were sooooo patient with the tons of questions I asked. I'm no expert but I will tell you I use 2% milk in my coffee. That seems to be legal. As to breads I avoid them now. I know I can't stop at two slices so I just don't eat it at all. Fill up on oatmeal, salads and meat & fruit. Now that I've been on it a while my control has increased and I haven't had much craving. It's just the first couple of weeks that are the toughest.
Quilter-Sorry you had such a problem getting on the internet. Have fun at your reunion. Hope to hear lots of stories.
Well, already been on too long.

Good Friday Morning!
Woke up with a light headache today but managed to get my butt out and do my 4.5 minutes in 52:08 with 19 jogs-and now I sit here, sweating bulltets!
Scale is the same today-3 days in a row now. Will be interesting to see which way it moves WHEN if does move!
I'VE POSTED THE WALNUT CAROB COOKIE RECIPE on the recipe board this morning-thank goodness I can't find where Eli hid them, I really liked them a lot, too much, I should say! I'll try to get some time and get the OATMEAL COOKIE RECIPE done sometime today.
If you didn't get to see the TWO PICTURES I POSTED last night, please take a gander at them. Will be posting a few more later :)
GRINCHY, try to stay away from the SF pudding, chocolates and other sweets at the beginning. Give your body time to detox from sweets and the taste for them. You'll be surprised how you won't be craving that ice cream if you do this-I was eating a half-gallon of ice cream just about every other day before I started SB! I think trying to find sweets that you can eat at the beginning and not letting your body get rid of the desire for them gets too many people into trouble, but that's just my opinion and you know what they say about those;) Thanks for sharing about you and BW, I'm sure if she likes FROG and the fact that we LOVE FROG, you two/too will love her just the same! I sure know, she does have a sense of humor and a good heart-what's not to like!!!
ROSALIE! CONGRATS a thousand times over! I am so THRILLED for you to finally have a loss and go under the 200 mark! WOO HOO!!! Your patience pays off again! Seems like all the exercise is helping. We saw LEGALLY BLOND as well, def. a teenage chick flick. Would like to go see PLANET OF THE APES, my son is seeing it today. I LOVE the FINN CRISPS, just make sure you eat them with something low GI on them, they are really high on the GI scale-90 something I believe-cheese or pb is good on them:) No one but Eli and I will be in Vegas, then we'll drive over to Nance's-can't wait!
AMY, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! Glad to see you are taking a healthier approach to losing the weight compared to the other way you were trying;) To answer your questions about milk, any type of milk is fine, but of course, skim, or one of the lower fat milks would be best. There are some no fat, no sugar creamers on the market-maybe one of the other gals can tell you what they use-I'm not a coffee drinker (even though my OH manages a Starbucks!). As for the bread, I don't know if that particular Mestemacher bread is fine or not-I have bought 1 or 2 in the past (still in my freezer after eating 1 slice). It MAY be okay, though I don't agree with sultanas being okay-to me, they are like raisins, which are a no-no:nono: As for the whole meal issue, I think that's because it's ground so fine possibly, but I'm really not sure. I don't remember reading that in the SB BOOK, but it's been so long since I read it, maybe I need to refresh my memory. BUT, the more refined a product is, the higher it's GI. (ANOTHER) BUT, with that bread having so much fiber, that may be a plus-what I would say, have a piece once in a while and see if you notice any effects-then go accordingly. One thing nice about this WOE, you do have a little play with some foods, you just have to find out what works for you-BEACHFAN ate bananas while doing this WOE and reached goal months ago, whereas, if maybe I tried to eat them, I'd gain-so if you really like that brand of bread, see how your body reacts to it. Also, do remember, you MAY see a gain at the beginning of doing SB since your body isn't use to having those carbs, be patient, that's my best advice.
QUILTER, we've missed you! ANOTHER family reunion-you sure do have lots of kin folk there! LOL! KIM, we need to get you back into the groove again-just tell yourself, make a commitment to stay OP for 1 week, 1 week, not long, right?!? THEN you'll be well on your way once you begin to feel better and start losing again. For me, 3 days it the magic number, I know I'm fine after that time. The commitment to NOT cheat is hard, but it can be done-I know you can do it, you just have to believe that now!!! Tell Paul hello!!!!
FLY, don't worry about the carrots-actually, they are fine, as long as they are raw. It's cooking that makes the GI increase-another thing the SB book doesn't tell you! Another tip, you CAN eat berries with meals, they don't have to be eaten seperately like other fruits:) Dinner plans sound yummy-love fish, as long as I'm not making it! Funny thing about Eli...he's Lebanese, I'm Jewish and we owned a pizzeria! No Italian blood was in that place. Eli in a skirt, no, that picture SOL posted was Eli in a SPEEDO!!!! LOL!!!!
Okay, time for me to get something to eat, cant believe it's already 9:45am, been typing for an hour now! I'll check in with you all later. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

gosh, I'm :o . Came back to tell Grinch that I survived the first weeks of Sb by making my smoothies. And discovered the skirt vs speedo error. I knew when I wrote that I might not be remembering well. I'm still laughing. Maybe you should try a skirt on Eli. I must've confused the speedo with the hula image of this past week.
Anyway Grinch. My first week I made smoothies of plain no fat yogurt, fresh fruit (usually chose blueberries and strawberries), and if I wanted extra protein Wheat Germ (which tasted sweet to my surprise). Whip it up with some ice and it's close to the sweet and cold feeling of ice cream.
What do you think Deb? Think that will help Grinch?
Bye, Fly!

HAPPY DANCE FOR MARIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOT DIGGITY DOG!!!! I'm sooooo happy for you!!!!!!
I know how it feels - hopefully, both our bodies will cooperate and we'll just keep shrinking from here!
Had to laugh at y'all talking about "Legally Blonde". Last night at fellowship one of our single mothers and her teenage daughter were teaching us the bend and snap move. They were very comical and highly recommended the movie.
QUILTER -- Super extra strength velcro on the way to your house. You've come too far and been too successful to slow down now!! You're on a roll, Baby! Hang in there!!
DEBBIE - What if we just added a picture thread to our weekly, exercise and recipes threads? Would that work? I'm very jealous that you are going to get to meet NANCEMEISTER in person!! Are you meeting LDBLOND too? My mother is supposed to be sending me scanned photos from the reunion. Hopefully some will be good enough to share with you gals. Maybe one of Meister if I can find one he won't kill me for posting for the world to see.
Funny thing about that erotic message - I wanted someone who would go to church with me, but that wasn't "overly religious" or a "Jesus Freak" (my terms, no offense to anyone) - someone I could still have a couple of beers and lots of laughs with. That message proved to me that he would be well balanced in that category (he also has the sexiest voice I've ever heard on the phone :s: ) We "dated" for 2 weeks and decided we wanted to get married and our engagement was almost a year long. Since we were "just friends" before that my parents were taken aback because they had no warning this was coming. You shoulda seen my dad giving him the evil eye and third degree when they first met him. Now I think my grandmother would choose him over me if we ever split! :o
GATOR - Been sick as a dog for 2 weeks and out of town for the reunion. Haven't stepped foot in the gym since camping out at the hospital with Meister. Tomorrow we're going to go rollerblading, though. Hopefully I'll last more than 1 mile. :^:
AMYG - Funny, I had a friend we called "Amy G" and now she's married so we can't call her that cause her last name has changed and "Amy B" just doesn't sound the same. Welcome to the board! You'll get lots of support and even some friendships here. I use whole cream for my coffee since I only have one cup in the mornings and I eat a pretty low fat diet. I use skim milk or 100% natural Westbrae Soymilk on my cereal when I have that. That's about the only milk I have - we don't even really cook anything that uses milk. Westbrae is just soy beans and water so it's very low fat (and not as tasty as "WhiteWave Soy Milk" - my favorite). Don't know about the bread. We eat Ezekiel bread and I may have 2 slices a week of that.
I know I didn't get to everyone, but my time is up. :( I must needs be going along. Have a great week-end if I don't get back on line.

WOW! Where is everyone today??? Hey, it's not the weekend YET! Board sure is slow!!!
Ran around with my Mom today-sounded like a better idea than cleaning the house. Postposed the garage sale til the 13th, didn't have enough time to prepare and next week BOB will be coming in, so will do it the following week.
Yes, BOB is coming to the Detox Dungeon Thursday night and will leave sugar and me behind on Monday morning:) Looking forward to her coming down:)
Okay, Eli hid those cookies TOO good! I've looked for them, having withdrawls, want cookie!!!!! Can't find them!!!
FLY, yes, your smoothies would be fine! They sounds great too! I love the shakes I make and they're VERY filling, and nutritious as well. Eli in a skirt, please, don't give the man ANY ideas! LOL!
SOL, I think we'll go ahead and do the picture board in starting August-it would be nice! Yep, if all goes as planned, I'll meet Lara aka LDBLOND as well. Don't be jealous-if I come up to Orlando in Jan, I hope to get to meet you!!! This week, I get BOB!! Oh my, that's funny about your story and how you got engaged. #1, I met him on the phone, we had our first date in August, told my Mom I was going to marry him, had a ring in Oct. got married the following April-and my grandparents too would of chose him over me! They still like him-not that he's a bad guy, he's a wonderful father, but I wanted something more, that he wasn't able to give me-lots of love. I think it had a lot to do with the way he was raised by his Mother and Grandmother and the death of his Dad when he was 9. Anyhow, that' water under the bridge, and I know I have found my true soulmate with Eli!
Okay gals, I'm outta here for now, will try to check in later, otherwise, tomorrow after garage sales!!!
Toodles!

Does this help anyone else??
Tomorrow we have to go pick up my son at camp and dump off the oldest woooo hoooooooo but this means another day at the beach!!!

I think at 130 i might be if i keep working out which my Dr. informed me i have to so i will be healthy!!!! lol Have fun with Bob!
Sol-Hiiiiii missed ya!! what have u been up to??
VA- good job on the water!!! thats hard for me too but its real important. Have a nice visit and cook out with your family!! Gator - really sorry :( that we won't get to meet. We will be leaving Friday to return to Madison and my DS starts school on Monday. I'm sure you will have a great time and find lots to do. Make sure you have a brat while you are there (you might have to bring your own WW brat bun, though)!

Good Evening!
Long time no post! Just trying to get caught up on reading all the posts. I have had an ICKY week at work. Stress with a capital "S". Our computers at work are down AGAIN after being repaired!!!!!
Dan the Man was SUPPOSED to be home tonight, but left a message that they won't be flying back til tomorrow, which means I won't see him til the evening! :( I'm lovesick and keep listening to Natalie Cole sing "There's a lull in my life" over and over......well to finish where I left off on the romance story for those of you who are interested......I believe I left off when we were picnicing up on the mountain. We had a perfect afternoon!
Then we came back down to the desert and went to the Marriott and had Margaritas. We walked around to the lakes where they have real flammingos and sat on a bench talking til sunset. We did a little shopping at the store, and I was going to get my way to this mans heart through his stomach and make lasagne.
We both wanted to get cleaned up, pour a glass of wine and I took a shower, then Dan the Man, who walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist. That's trouble with a capital "T". The next day (continuing with my theory of winning him through the stomach) I made him my famous german pancakes with sauteed cinnamon apples and sausages. He met my children, closest friends, and of course Mom and Dad. That night we went out to dinner at a place called Tommy Bahamas. We sat outside, where there is tons of Queen palm trees, white twinkle lights and lots of stars in the sky. There was a musician playing tropical jamican music and there was a single candle on our table. The whole evening he held my hands, and we didn't take our eyes off of each other. I KNEW people around us could tell we were in love!!
After dinner we took a walk in the park hand in hand. Day three was a blurr, and came to and end too fast. Before I knew it, we had to say goodbye to each other and both of us had a pit in our stomachs knowing we didn't want to be seperated. He was the LAST person to board the plane, and he later said he could see me out the window, although I couldn't see him. I had tears uncontrollably streaming down my face, wishing he would come bounding off the plane. He left feeling the same way, that we shouldn't be seperated from each other. After that weekend, we knew we were meant for each other. Dan would send me an e.mail each day with a love quote....let me give you an example...
Love reckons hours for months, and days for years; and every little absence is an age.-[i]John Dryden{/i} So, you can see when one receives romantic letters along with such beautiful words, one head is spinning! For the Perils of Pauline fans....wait til you hear of the ENAGEMENT!
Well, as far as the weight goes....I have been hardly eating anything, and then when I have it's been take out ie. chicken fingers and a diet coke. Horrible choices, but if you all knew what this week has been like for me, you would empathize. I am so happy it's the weekend. and will be so glad to see my husband.
Feels like eternity since he's been gone and I feel like a fish out of water.
I'm glad everyone is doing well. No major stuff going on except in BOB's mouth!
Grinch WElcome....is the name because you are a 1)Dr. Suess 2)Jim Carrey fan 3)PMS Woman or 4) All of the above???
Ldblond
Sorry I didn't get a chance to call you back...I'll talk to you this weekend!

Glad to hear the romance of Sonya and Vince. Very special. Glad you had a great time at the reunion, but felt like an old lady when I hear it was the "10 year" reunion! Dan and I will be going to his "20th" next year! Love the music. Bought a "100% Funk" c.d. yesterday with "Brick House" "Get Down on It" "Boogie Oogie oogie" "Super Freak"....you get the picture. Just love it! LOL!
GatorGlad to see you posting again!!!! Loved the recent attachments!

[b]Sparkle Blonde, o.k, but $1,200 to see an "ex"boyfriend. I don't remember you getting clearance about this!?!!? What's the skinny? Are there sparks starting again?
To everyone else......I am thinking of you all too! I'm just soooo tired from my icky day at work, and am ready to go nite-nite. I will have plenty of time to post tomorrow with a monster mug o'coffee and get current with everyone! HUGS!!!

Quick Good Morning:wave:
Woke up too early this morning, had a "nightmare" that my kids were late to school! Gawd forbid! Couldn't go back to bed, so decided to get on the computer for a few minutes before I head out to the garage sales. Not too many to hit today, hope there are at least a few good ones. Was THINKING about getting in an early morning walk and decided against it-I think my body deserves the day off.
RHROO, promise to get those pictures up for you this weekend! Oh gosh, body shapes, I PRAY you don't have a shape like mine-there's rolls of fat hanging from everywhere-trust me, I don't lie! Hope your other son has a good time at the camp. So far, Lauren's having a great time.
NANCE, sorry to hear about Dan not coming home on time-why the delay? I'm sorry this job is stressing you out so much, this is NOT what a job is suppose to make you feel like. I'm happy I can rescue you away from that for the week, though I'm sure you could use a week off before then. I can't wait to hear the next chapter of yours and Dan's love story-it's like a romance novel!!! I keep forgetting to ask you, how's Faris' arm???? I'll chat with you later, I hope :) Glad you go to see the pics-I'll be finishing my latest roll when BOB gets here, so will have more to post soon! You'll be my next victim that I "shoot"!
Okay, I did my duty for now, will go start to get ready and head on out. There's a garage sale that starts at 7am around the block, so will go hit that one first.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! I'll check in with you all later today.
Morning everyone. Its been a busy week for me. My 2 nieces are cming down in August and I promised them I would have a dress made for each of them. So Ive been busy sewing, along with golf.
Gator - The game of golf can really fun. I have my days when I cant hit a thing, then there are days when Im "on". Have you played on your course yet or still just hitting the range? You really ought to try playing a round if you havent done so already, then you will see what your dh sees in playing the courses.
We manage to play on some expensive ones. My dh has a couple of sites where he can get coupons to play for less. You might want to check out a search engine for discount golf. I will email you some links if I find any good ones for your area.
Now on to my how we met. We were both taking a computer class at a local junior college back in the early 80's, and I thought he looked so cute in his tight blue jeans and long blond hair. I was talking to a friend of mine at work one day about him and she said that she was married to his brother. Unfortunately he was married also. Talking about being bummed out. Well I told my friend to tell him that if he ever got a divorce to look me up. Well years later another friend of mine called and told me that he wanted to call me. Good thing I had just broken up with another guy or I never would have agreed to meet him for drinks. Well 4 years after our 1st date we got married and we are still going strong. It will be 9 years in November.
Well thats it for now. Im off either to treadmill or lift weights.
Will try and check in later.

Have been really busy this week. Had to go the the doc yesterday (gyno) and he gave me some medicine for a problem that I was having and it makes me sooo sleepy! I am having trouble staying awake this a.m. Need to get up and move around some to wake up.
Sorry to be so "absent" this week. Things happening beyond my control, and now I'm too groggy to try to read and respond to the posts. :(
I'll try again later.

MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!!
BOB is STILL HURTING :( I just hope this is better by the time I go to the DETOX DUNGEON on Thursday!
I have a feeling that MY BUDDY ELI won't leave me locked up in there TOO LONG ;)
Looking forward to my visit with the two of them. We have such a good time when we're out lurking around. Eli is such a trooper, he really hangs in there...doesn't matter where we drag him off to. :s:
BOB's MOUTH is still all "SWOLLED" UP and the stitches haven't shown any signs of disolving yet....
I am trying to stick to straight ADVIL today though. I have to drive to the engagement party tonight, and I need to have all my senses about myself! (NO COMMENT NANCE  )
Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far....FROGGIE hope you feel better soon...it's **** being a woman down for the count isn't it?
Trying to get a little laundry done. Skeeter and I went to the bank a little while ago..he loves to go there, they always give him a doggie cookie :smug:
Hope I'm a little bit back to normal next week...I miss conversing with everyone..

Good morning all, hope you all have some fun plans for the weekend.I get to go furniture shopping yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh:D My husband and I built our house about 3 years ago and couldnt get the furniture right away that we wanted cause he only likes to pay cash very smart but frustrating when you see a good deal:lol: We just finished our basement so now we get to move the upstairs furniture down there and the new stuff up here I am sooooo excited.
I am just loving your "how we met stories" it feels like an episode of when Harry met Sally around here:dizzy: ok heres the condesed version of mine
My husband is from Australia and he worked in the outback there so he came to Canada as a cowboy. He first moved to a small town called Cranbrook which funny enough is where I grew up and at the time was going to college there.BUT...:) ...we never met.we went to the same pub nights and everything but we didnt meet.I ended up moving to Vancouver and he off to some other little towns doing his cowboy thing until a bad horse accident nearly paralized him.So he had to figure out something else to do.He also then moved to Vancouver and started working at the Real canadian superstore which is like the super walmarts down there in the States.I too was working at the superstore and on my first day of training he happened to be stocking shelves and I noticed his cute butt :lol:but(no pun intended) we didnt meet..yet...about 1 and a half years later I was promoted to front end supervisior and Michael at that time was in charge of the whole leisure dept so now that we were both in managment we started hanging around the same circles.I asked him out 3 times lol before he accepted lucky he did that was his last chance I am sooo persisitent (too bad I dont do that with eating  ) He told me later that he wanted to go out but he had dated someone in the store before and it had been bad so he swore he wouldnt date someone in the company again. But I wore him down lol.And the rest is history we have been together 9 years now married for 6 of them and still happy little bumps of course I did say I was married:lol: and belive it or not that is the short version :)
Anyhow you wonderful ladies I am off to shop ooh I am in my element now
Have a great weekend

Had a better day at work yesterday. Managed to work the whole 12 hr shift with less pain to the jaw & teeth. Still having dizzy spells like my head is swimming, don't know what that's all about, but have faith that things will continue to improve.
I woke up at least 4 times during the night last night to the bathroom. I felt sure I was retaining fluid. Guess what? the scale says 147 again this morning, so I was right. But the other thing was that each time I woke up I found myself with my jaws in a clinch, really clamping down on my back teeth. Never noticed that before. So it may have something to do with this TMJ.
Anyway, on to other things.
Debbie Looking good girl!!! Loved the pictures you posted. WOW! to you & ANN!! Glad to hear that you're considering my idea of the picture page. Would a thread like the BIO page work for them?? Thanks for posting that site. Will have to look for the Ballastoos at the HFS next time I'm in Lafayette. Eli hid the cookies from you? Maybe he hid them in his belly since they were sooooo good. LOL Sure do plan to check out your recipe.
AMSERAPHIM, Where are you?? Hope all is ok. Loved the picture of you & Debbie!!!
Grinchy Hey, some days we're all ginches...Ask my family...LOL Have you tried any of the NO SUGAR ADDED ICE CREAMS? I love the Blue Bunny & the SUGAR BUSTERS! brands. They help with that sweet tooth. We have a small scoop almost every night as dessert. The headaches should subside soon from the sugar withdrawal.
ROSALIE, Way to go, Marie!! Being under that 200 mark is great. Hoping that you will continue to see a decline now that the needle is moving again. Keep up that great bike riding & it will. Yes, getting adjusted back to work does take a little time. I'm glad that my days are a little spread out for the first week or so. I'm off for the week end, then work Mon & off again till Fri before jumping into a long stretch. By then I am hoping to feel much better the way it's going now.
AmyG Welcome to the board!! To answer your question:
1. What type of milk product is best used in coffee (decaf, whatever)? Personally, I much perfer the Half & Half in my coffee. I don't use much, but it makes my coffee taste better & more enjoyable & it I can't enjoy my coffee, then why drink it? LOL
BUTTERFLY, You sound really excited about your sister's visit & really prepared too. Hope it turns out great for you. HUMMMMMM, will have to work on that "Thurman story" to post later.
Gatorgal Too bad you & Karen will miss each other during your visit to WIS. Your vaction there does sound great though. Hey, I guess you hear that AUTIN died Wednesday. So sad. They had quiet a bit about him & the funeral plans on local TV since he's from Lafayette area. Funeral is today I believe.
RHOO, Hey girl, 138 lbs to great! Keep it up. And yes, I think it's always easier for men to lose than us women cause our meabolism is different. Great that you are both doing so well on this WOE. My dh loves what I fix. I never have to fix anything different for him to eat. Oh course now, he does bring in his own snacks & hids them from me so that I won't get tempted. LOL Hope you have a good day at the beach.
Nance, What a beautiful love story of you & Dan the Man. Sorry to hear that you had such a stressful week. Hope your week end is better.
FROG, Sorry you're having such a gummpy Sat morning. Hope the week end gets better for you.
Bob Glad to see you're at least up to posting again. Have missed you. Hope the mouth continues to improve so you can feel up for your visit to the DETOX DUNGEON. I'm sure you will have a great time there. Maybe that's where Eli hid those cookies!
Adams_rib/KYMN Hey, enjoyed reading your "LOVE STORY". It's wonderful to hear such wonderful meetings & happy stories. Good luck with the furniture shopping today!
Well, dh is trying to get the front yard mowed before the rain starts up again. Sure looks like we're going to get it again from the Gulf. He said he needs a pirouge(sp?? cajun boat LOL) to get through the yard. He went to the barber shop earlier & came back with a bag of wonderful grapefruits. That's what I had for breakfast. He's such a wonderful husband. I kept telling him that last night when I came home from work at almost 8pm & found that he had grilled some steaks on the foreman grill, boiled some fresh okra from the garden & had some fresh acorn squash stir-fried, all plated up for me. So I better get in the kitchen & see what I can whip up for him before he comes in from the mowing. oops, too late :D ...see ya!

Believe it or not, this insanity is not over the food I can't have, it's about dealing with my computer and this website. Half the time I just get a blank screen! I try to hit "Go to the last post" and I just get a blank screen. It's taken me two days to find the last thing I posted and what everyone else posted after that.
Sol - I hit your link from my email, but I got that old blank page!! AAAAHHHHHH!!!!
On a lighter note (literally), I think I've lost
2 lbs. (210/208/130). I weighed for the 1st time last night. I went to BelindaWannabe's to check on her cats while she's out of town getting her mom for the "assisted living" move, and I got on her scale. I didn't weigh a few days ago when I actually started SB, but when I went to the doctor recently, I weighed 210, so we'll just go with that. Makes it a lot easier to figure how much I've got to lose to reach my goal.
Also, I found a gold mine today! (Frog, you've got to check this place out. Maybe you and BelindaW. and I can take a trip there one Sat. together.) Anyway, it's a Mennonite (is that how you spell it?) country store about 45 minutes from my house. They sell lots of good stuff at an incredibly low price (whole wheat pastas, couscous, brown rice, cheeses, sugar free and no sugar added stuff). It was a cornucopia of SB items. My husband and I were ecstatic! They also sell a huge selection of fresh spices for next to nothing! (You know how expensive those are in the grocery store.) Pretty cool. . . huh?
Deb - loved your pictures. . . you're beautiful!!
I tried to get to the bio-board, but I failed at that also. I hope this isn't an indication of my weight loss efforts!
Nance - the reason I chose "Grinchy" is because I had a friend in college (about 1000 years ago) who called me that because she said I looked like The Grinch when I was mad. It's the only nickname I've ever had, so I figured. . . why not? :s:

What browser are you using to get this board?? I am having the same problem with Netsape, but absolutely NO problems when I use Internet Explorer or my MSN brower, so you may want to try different ones to solve your problem.

Hey, Melf! I AM using Netscape! I'll try your suggestion. Thanks! Also, a big thank you to all those who could sympathize with my sugar withdrawal headache. I'm feeling much better this evening. My husband put a London Broil in the crockpot with water and onion and minimal seasoning and cooked it for about 4 hours. It got all tender and fell apart and made its own gravy, and oh my God it was so good!!! I ate too much, but I hadn't really eaten lunch, so I won't feel too guilty about it. At least I didn't eat the six ice cream sandwiches that are in the freezer calling my name. I bought some peanuts with carob on them today. What the heck is carob anyway? Love to all!

How does Quinoa stack up grain wise, in terms of SB legality?

Melf--Yes I knew that Eraste had died. It is just terrible. We all were very sad here in FL. Not for football, but for the loss of such a young and promising life. I pray for his parents, that they will find some solace.
Karen2000--I’m really sad we’ll miss each other. Do you know anything about a fish boil. Apparently that is something that is “native” where we are going--kind of like a clam bake in New England. Someone told us not to miss one, but I want to know if it is really worth it.
Nance--Gald you like the “Gator Art”!!
Is everyone sharing how they met their DH. I have some pretty interesting stories. Like the time my husband, when we were still dating, came up to NC to visit me one summer, and another guy, who I was also dating, showed up at our door as we were leaving to go to the airport to pick up my DH (then just one of my boyfriends). That was a ticklish spot. And to make matters worse, they knew each other.
Anyone see the very interesting article in USA Today on Thursday re. nutrition and a new food pyramid. The doctor, from Harvard, I believe, puts exercise on the bottom rung, followed by whole grains, followed by abundance of veggies. He also includes monounsaturated oils, such as olive oil, on this level. then Fruits, then fish, beans and nuts. Red meats he puts near the top with sugar, refined grains, white flour, butter, margerine, etc. at the very top. It was a must read for me that day.
Been fixing some yummy meals. Last night we had grilled tilapia with jalapeno, tequila and fresh lime juice marinade, along with roasted Vidalia onions sauteéd with brussels sprouts napped with a dijon mustard jus. Also french fried match stick sweet potatoes. And a salad of fresh orange slices paired with avocado. Probably too much fat, but it was gooooood.
Tonight we had company and I served crab cakes cooked with a recipe that I got off the “Great Chefs of the US” internet site on the Discovery Channel. I saw it made on TV and it looked great. Unfortunately, there was something really wrong with the recipe, and it was more shrimp mousse than crab cake, so I ended up putting it in the oven and we had crab frittata. Had the fried sweet potato again, along with sauteéd grated zucchini and spinach. Had fresh cherries and raspberries over a little vanilla ice cream for dessert. I tossed the crab cake recipe because it was not right. Sometimes I wonder if they make some of the proportions wrong on purpose so that you really can’t duplicate what they would serve in their restaurant.
Leaving for St. Augustine tomorrow for a couple of days. Y’all be good while I’m away!!

Good Sunday Morning Everyone:wave:
Got in from my walk/jog-very brutally hot out there this morning, but managed to get in my walk with 17jogs in 54:13, no great times, but just the fact I was out there makes me feel good.
Scale is moving a bit back down again, makes me feel good about that as well. Will make me feel REALLY good if this downward trend continues!
Not much going on here, have the house to myself today, Eli has to work all day-had to open and has inventory tonight, so I guess I should tackle some housework before BOB comes to make inspection;)
The carob cookies are no more-I had Eli bring them out, unfortunately, he did it in front of me and I saw his hiding place, too bad, because it was a really good one, never thought to look there-anyhow, finished those last 3 cookies off-too yummy!!! Got a new book yesterday and will look through it today for some more interstesting dessert recipes-my downfall! Hey, at least if I make them, they're SB legal!
CAT, I envy those who can sew-not something I was given the gift to do-geez, not even the gift to cook-hmmm, what gift WAS I given?:?: I'll have to ponder that thought! Thanks for sharing your "how we met" story.
FROG, sorry your in a gyno rut-hope you are feeling better, and soon! Have a question for you...when you train in the cooler temperatures vst he sweltering heat, do you have better times? I just wonder if the heat really cuts into your running times much.
BOB, poor baby! Hope you feel back to "normal" by the time you arrive down here! Oh no, Eli won't let me leave you in the DETOX DUNGEON too long, after that I'll put you through EXERCISE EXHAUSTION! One thing you won't have to worry about is eating, you know how I feel about getting enough to eat, so at least you know you'll be well fed! I keep meaning to ask you-who's babysitting Skeeter while you're here-or does he get to go on his own vacation to the DOGGIE SPA?
AR, hope you found some nice furniture-I actually like a lot of the contemporary styles they have up in Canada. I take my time furnishing and doing in my house even though I've lived in it for 13 years. I didn't have dining room or living room furniture for years and took my time to get what I wanted. My house is STILL a work in progress, as I do things when I have a little extra money. I have 1 picture to buy for my living room so it will be completed-wonder if THAT will ever be! Thanks for sharing your "how we met" story!
MELF, glad to see the flood gates opened up for you! Is it possible you grind your teeth at night a don't realize it. My son Michael does that and just bought a mouth guard because he wakes up with jaw pain in the morning and he showed me where his tooth is grinding itself down. Just a thought. Yes, the picture board will be a nice addition, didn't remember who suggested it, so THANK YOU! I'll start it for this week. Eli liked the cookies, but didn't eat them, though I do wish he had, as I said above, I ate the last 3 in one sitting! They really aren't too bad, I figure the nutritional information on the high end and they are about 75 calories each. I'd def. make those again!
GRINCHY, wish I could help with the computer trouble you are having, but I'm computer illiterate and can't be much help. Hopefully, what MELF mentioned will help you! That place you went to sounds wonderful! I probably would go nuts in a place like that-you are lucky! Thanks for the nice comment about the pictures:) And congrats on that loss. I guess you'll be running over to BW on Wednesdays for WIW??? Just be careful that the carob covered peanuts don't have sugar-most do, it has to say unsweetened carob. I like carob a lot and have grown accustomed to the taste. Here'a nice link about carob:
http://www.gilead.net/health/Carob.htm
AMY, go ahead and enjoy your QUINOA-it's perfectly legal on SB, just remember, PORTION CONTROL, measure it like you would rice, 1/2 cup serving.
Okay gals, I'm gone for a while-will check in later sometime and tonight will get the boards ready for the new week. Please remember, TOMORROW IS MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY so if you have and words of wisdom or inspiration, please, try to post them tomorrow.
And on this note, I leave you with a picture of my son giving me a piggy back ride-something I never thought would happen!!!!

If y'all could've seen me yesterday you would've sworn that I was abou to die! I was sooooo unbelievably drugged ALL day! I NEVER woke up from that stupor. Was supposed to take that pill again last night  but decided that I wanted to ask the doc and the pharamcist if the dosage was right. I was afraid to take another one. All I did yesterday was sleep. I could not keep my eyes open and it took all the concentration I could muster to type a post yesterday, couldn't place my fingers on the keys with any speed or rhythm. Needless to say I wasn't able to exercise, could barely walk around the house between naps.
Besides feeling like I had been knocked unconscious, the weather here has been the absolute PITS!!! Rainy and cloudy for days. I ran 3 miles Fri a.m. in the rain, couldn't take it anymore, had to move my bones. I am going to try again today to go for a 3-4 miler.
Well, the good news is that I weighed 146 at doc's Fri and the nurse told me that people always complain that the scales "weigh heavy." Not by my account!! :D The other good news is that this is the first doc in 10 years that has given me some hope regarding an ongoing problem that I have been plagued with. This is the first appointment I've had at this office and I was so impressed. First PAP in years that didn't hurt too! This man deserves a gold medal!! The other good news was that he told me that I was a "healthy woman"!!! :spin: How nice to hear that for a change. Usually the docs avoid the weight issue. Not my wonderful internist though, the one who told me about SB, and got me started on the road to becoming a "healthy woman." Anyhow, doc on Friday was not an unpleasant experience, have to go back in 6 weeks though. Unlike my previous gyno, a younish man, who told me at 33 and 34 years of age that if I was gonna have a family that I needed to hurry up, this doc told me that I was still "young." Thank heavens for confirming what I thought was true. Old gyno was making me feel ancient at 33! Enough about all of that!
DH and I are preparing to paint the living room, new furniture should arrive in about 2 weeks. I hope that my living room will feel new and improved.
So glad to have Grinchy on the board. She wasn't joking regarding her family. Her little boy looks like he could be ours! If I could have some that I knew would look like BW's (her daughter is a looker) and Grinchy's, I might get started! G's DH is way cool and fun to hang out with. I've enjoyed getting to know them over at BW's pool.
I am using this color to respond to the posts of others, because I need to see something blue, since it won't be the sky today!!
DEB - Enjoyed your story about you and Eli. Thanks for you sweet comments to Grinchy about me. You're a doll! Love the piggy-back pic. Heat and humidity can slow you down, it tires you out faster. Most races are in the cooler months because the heat and humidity are dangerous for even pro athletes.
ROSALIE - glad that you're enjoyong your bike. Congrats on your loss!
LAMAP - Down 4 pounds!! WOW, that's great!
RALY - Sorry about DH's work situation. I am curious about your exchange student. I have always wanted to host one but can't in my current home, too few bathrooms/bedrooms! How did you become involved?
GRINCHY - "I'm so glad you made it, so glas you made it!" You'll get the hang of the posts. Let me and BW know if we can help, no need to be frustrated with us close by. Now, about this Mennonite store, sounds great, where is it? May I also add that I found that an OCCASIONAL FF/SF frozen yogurt at TCBY or some NSA ice cream (love Eddy's "All About PB" available at Wal-Mart) to get me over those humps. I know some may discourage you from eating it, but I would rather see you have a treat of that than to go completely off-plan! Don't eat this stuff on an empty stomach, it will give you the Mexican Quick-Step if ya know what I mean! Congrats on the loss. Keep it up and you will see more. I think that you and BW should try to walk together if you can. That would be a great exercise for both, just get out there and sweat a little and get in some cardiovascular, fat burning walking!
AMY - WELCOME! Look forward to gettting to know you.
QUILTER - GIRRRRRLLLLLL! Don't make me have to come up there and shake some sense into you! You gotta get it together, get some self control and STOP Sabotaging yourself! You know you can do this. Try to look deep inside and find out why you aren't. Hang in there. We are all pulling for your success!
FLY - I know what you mean about the carrots. I don't typically pick them out of salads, especially the shredded ones that come in fast food salads. One or two won't kill you. Weather on the east coast is awful this week isn't it?
RHROO - loved the Thelma and Louise story. I had a convertable a few years ago and always had fun in it. Kinda miss that fun, don't miss the car.
NANCE - Sorry that work has been yucky. Hope this week is a better one. Thanks for sharing your Dan story.
BOB - Sorry that your tooth is still aching. I'm envious of your trip to Deb's Detox Dungeon. I really want to meet more of the folks on the board. I hope that y'all can make the Orlando thing happen.
RIB - New furniture is very exciting. I wish ours would hurry up and get here, but then I am thankful for the extra days to get the LR painted. Enjoy!
MELF - love your new avatar. Cute! Happy to see that you are getting some releif from the pain. Hope that you continue to see improvements. Stay strong.
Well, I just saw a runner go by in the rain and decided that I should follow their lead. Hope that I don't fall down in my sedated state. Hope you are all having a beautiful Sunday.
Peace,
FROG

Hi everyone. Thanks for all the good wishes. My sister just left and that was the last of the clan to go. This is "blue" time for me. I'm feeling really grateful for the chance to see them. The weather was coolish but still could swim in the pool. The rain held off til this a.m. and I am really grateful. My neice has gone from dressy to grunge. She is still beautiful. It was a real change. Wish I could've seen my face when I saw her. It was a shock. Spent the time relaxed and calm which is a real change from the "Martha syndrome". I'm pleased that happened. Caught up with my father and brothers. Went out to a wonderful seafood place and had cup of she crab soup. I have a feeling that wasn't legal because it tasted too good. And then broiled Mahi (just caught two hours before). It was blackened and awesome! Had a glass of Merlot that wasn't really great. Then dad brought Beef brisket that had a Mesquite flavor and that was awesome. Had broccoli and fruit salad too. I made the pecan cheesecake pancakes for breakfast this a.m. with the regular flap jacks and all enjoyed. Peter took some pics on the digital camera and I will share them later. Though I looked hideous. I never was very photogenic. Although it may've been the angle. My deck has a rise to it and Peter was down by the pool. The only down side to the day was Peter saying he was going to "make me" eat sb illegal food.
The fruit salad was awesome with fresh cantalope, blueberries, strawberries, nectarines and 1 tsp of agave nectar.
Now....about my weight. Maybe I'm not as patient as I think. I'm feeling a bit frustrated at the "stick" to the scale. Can anyone tell me this is normal to get so stuck after the big initial drop? I know I should be grateful there is no increase but it's still tough when I know I haven't been cheating and putting up with all the non-support around me at times. Thanks to all of you who have been here for me.
Sol--Your dh must be something if he could turn your gm around! My mom gave mine the evil eye and it was 5 year before she started liking him.
Deb-Loved the "piggy" back ride. So you finally got Bob to the dungeons and found the cookies. Somehow I don't think it'll be all that dungeony. Tell Eli he can hide those cookies at my house next time. Rhoo-Thelma & Louise sounded fun. I was there in spirit. Of course minus the nachos. Oh....ok....and the margaritas! Nancy-how can life be so cruel? Aaaaarrrrrrgh! Hope Dan is home now. The lake with the flamingos was awesome. As well as the rest of the story. I love the way you continue the story. Hang in there and I hope next week is especially great. Catlover-Golf sure is habit forming. When you hit the ball just right....there is almost nothing better. The story of your love was great. I especially appreciate guys in tight jeans. You must've made some impression on him too. Frog-glad you are better. Hope the meds get worked out soon. BOB-How awful to still be in pain. Maybe you're doing your pre-detox detox. Hang in there. Maybe you'll get a weight loss bonus out of all this suffering. AR-dh sounds like a wise guy. Hope you had fun furniture shopping and found the perfect pieces. Thanks for sharing your cowboy story. Certainly sounds like you were meant to meet. Melf-loved the angel. Congratulations on 147! I am happy for you. What a dh to have dinner waiting. The boat story had me grinning! Grinch-what an awesome find! I'll have to check my Mennonite store locally too. Hang in there with the computer. Gator-I bet you handled that "ticklish" spot just fine. Tell us more.....
Well gonna go run off some of this "blues". I don't even care about the knee.

Gator - I've never had fish boil - there's only one restaurant in our city that I know does it. This is more of a northeast Wisconsin tradition. However, my husband said it is fish boiled with red potatoes and corn (would be a SB no-no) and the fish would be very similar to a "poor man's lobster", if you have that where you are from. Sure is interesting how certain foods or dishes are so regional.
Got to go and see my mom who lives in the Alzheimer's facility. She seems to be in a downward turn as far as losing more of her short term memory and is becoming even more quiet. These visits are not easy, but I feel SO guilty when I don't go. She has always been my best friend....
Have a great day everyone---

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!! :D
Hope everyone is having a great weekend....ME?? I'm still in a drugged stupper..
The engagement party was very nice. We met a lot of the family that we had not met before.
This will be a short one, since I can relate with FROG about not being able to hit the right keys... :?:
DEB Didn't I tell you???? SKEETER IS COMING WITH ME!!
Sorry I can't get to everyone...I promise after this mouth thing is over, we'll all sit down and have a talk!! ;)
The GODFATHER is on again today, so at least if I go to sleep I won't miss any of it.....I KNOW IT BY HEART!! :smug:

Hey Y'all!
Just taking a break from cleaning-nothing BOB would notice, or Eli for that fact, been in the family room (aka the old garage) working in the closet tiddying up a bit. My friend Mayra is due over soon, she asked me to keep a look out for a walker at garages sales and I found her one for $4 yesterday, so she's on her way over to pick it up.
FROG, what the heck did they give you to knock you out the whole day? Sounds potent! Congrats on seeing the scale move downwards-that's always exciting news to see posted! Thanks for the input about the jogging and the heat! Hope you feel good enough to get some miles in, just be careful you don't over due it!
FLY, looked on the web for SHE CRAB SOUP, I think it was probably okay, just the flour or thickener they used may be what may not be legal in it. You've had a large loss in a very short period of time, be patient, it WILL pay off with a loss-there's so many factors that play into how we lose, but from expereince, just be patient and make sure you are eating enough!!!! Yes, BOB will be arriving at the DETOX DUNGEON on Thursday evening:)
KAREN, hope you have a good visit with your Mom. My heart goes out to you-I can't imagine what that may be like-I know it would be very hard on me as my Mom and I are close as well.
BOB, Skeeter told me he wants a vacation of his own, he was thinking a weekend in Cancun, or the Bahamas-he barked that Miami isn't on his top 10 list!!!! LOL!!
Time to get back to my cleaning!! Oh, here's a picture of Michael and Lauren:)

Hi all.. thanks for the advice.
First of all.. . thanks Melf! for your browser advice, I was just cursing my computer for the blanks screen reason just before reading your answer!
I arrived at SB from 6 unsuccessful weeks on Atkins, which followd 6 unsuccessful weeks on low cal. I"m a little frustrated that I can't seem to make the scale move, but I feel really good eating this way so i'm just going to run with it..
Its a BEAUTIFUL afternoon here in new york, so I"m going to run out and play :)
Later all!

:D Hi all. Tried to post pics but had forgot about the 40K rule. Mine were 200! So, will shrink asap and retry. Still feeling a bit blue though better than before. Had a fun run. Real easy and loose. Frog knows what that is like. Those are really fun. Even stomped a few puddles. I just saw on TV a 70 year old woman finish the Ironman Triathalon. We have no excuses! Well, those of us without health concerns anyway. Love the pictures of the children Debbie. Don't tell Lauren but she looks a lot like you. Well, bye for now.
