Wow - I'm the first one in today? Not much new to report, and I just heard that there's a wreck on the highway that I take to work (hope everyone's okay), so I probably ought to dash to beat the traffic. Hope everyone has a great day! :D

Morning All,

HURRAY - I am off today and I slept in!!!! I am still going to do my exercise in a little bit. Going to spend the day with my sister and brother-in-law and their four children. We are going to have a day trip somewhere. I wish I was off tomorrow too - wow would that be amazing. A friend of mine is leaving to go on a cruise in a day and I am sooooooo jealous.

My eating habits are a toboo subject lately and the scale??? Well, lets not even go there. Looking forward to the day and the upcoming weekend.

Have a great day.

Weezle - hope you feel better soon.

All you self sabbatogers - Let's form ranks and beat up those girls that can eat like 10 cheese burgers in a sitting, never do any real exercise, and never gain any weight - I am down with that!!!

Where is everyone today?
I am a little behind today, haven't worked out yet and then have to get all the kids up and out of the door by 9am. We have to go to Albany for doctor's appt and then we are going to Jeepers today. IT is an indoor amusement park. IT is small but a lotof fun for the kids.
My eco cardio gram went well. I find out the results next week on the 2nd. I do know at lease during the exam my heart did not do flip flops and they didn't have to stop so it went better then the ones in the past. Well have to run, will cehck back in later.
Good morning Jana- drive safe today.

Today is a busy day. I have meetings all morning and a doctor's appointment for my youngest this afternoon. She just turned 1 in the beginning of February and she barely weighs 15 lbs. Her doctor is concerned that she's suffering from failure to thrive, so he wants to run a whole bunch of tests today. Keep you fingers crossed that it's nothing serious and that she's just small. It's possible; I'm only 5'1" and my husband has a hard time keeping weight on (must be nice!)
I'll be back later. Everybody have a great day!

02-23-2006, 08:43 AM
Good Morning

Hope everyone has a great day, yesterday was good, stayed OP and I took the cola chikcen recipe and added brown rice with Salsa as a bed for the chicken, (phaseII) Very good, MY 15 yr old brother loved it, as I did to.
Gotta go get a load of wood today. Dad Is back from getting his kidney stones busted, however, it will be 2 or 4 days before he can be out and about. sooooooooo I am still being busy, I enjoy it.. though,

Take Care All

Freaky~~ Good to see you in a better mood, And I am with you on the Cheeseburger chicks..............

Hulk ~Glad your test went smoothe ,,,,,,,,,,, be careful today,

02-23-2006, 09:14 AM
:grouphug: to you all - just because!

I'm sorry that I'm just dashing in and out these days without time to comment on everyone's life. It's a horribly busy week. And this is supposed to be retirement?

Hershey has lost weight this winter! Yay! I wish I could say the same. The vet says she's in good shape for a nine-year old who has had 33 puppies :yikes: so I guess I'll have my furry darling for a while longer!

This morning I'm off for footcare, then to Perth to visit Harry, then to the Falls to check out exercise bikes, then to a Thera-Paws meeting in Brockville, then home for supper and then a Fair Board Meeting! Three hours of my day will be in the car - a good place to drink water.

I just took the recycle stuff out to the road, my bath is ready and then I'm outta here! :censored: ! Just remembered I have to do the Church bulletin today too. Can you say "overbooked"?

02-23-2006, 09:16 AM
Ruth~~ Glad I was setting down when I read your post,, It wore me out.,...
Be carefull and Take care.

02-23-2006, 09:38 AM
Hey chicks, wow, everyone seems so busy these days. I feel ya. At least the weekend is not too far away. I feel so bloated and nasty that I'm doing a slim fast thing today and tomorrow. I haven't done it in a while but it helps me with the boating and the yucky feeling. I use the lc slimfast shakes since the adkins ones are approved in the GCGF book and the ingredients are similar. I drink 3 shakes during the day with the 2 cups of veggies at lunch and then eat a P1 meal for dinner. Plus lots of water. I'm sure my plan is not 100% SBD but it works occasionally for me.

Have a great day chicks!!

02-23-2006, 09:38 AM

Morning girls...Bad day at work yesterday...Definately confirmed that I am calling in sick tomorrow......I was good with my eating yesterday, and now I need to go make breakfast!! Have a great day!

02-23-2006, 10:00 AM
Morning everyone,
I'm checking in a bit later than usual, after Curves I stopped at the market for leeks for a lentil soup I want to make, then I put a load of clothes in the wash and made some scrambled eggs with a LF WW English muffin for my breakfast. Have you tried those muffins by Thomas's yet? They are 100% whole wheat and have 8 grams of fiber, and they're only 100 calories. I use them for pizzas and tuna melts, too, and they're great!

usmchoney ~ One of my granddaughters is very tiny, too. She's 5 1/2, but she looks like she's only 3. But she's perfectly healthy and strong as an ox! I pray that your wee one is just fine.

Jana ~ Hope you got to work safely and without any hassles!

freaky ~ Enjoy your day, and I hope you can get back on track with your eating. It is hard, but you have been doing really well, and I'd hate to see you mess up now. Just take it one day at a time. :)

Mamahulk ~ Sounds like a fun day for you!

MsCrockett ~ Isn't that Cola Chicken recipe yummy? I was a little hesitant at first to make it, as soft drinks are a real no-no in my house, but we loved it! I'll just make it for an occasional meal, though, because I really hate the thought of using cola. Hope your dad has a quick recovery. I had the same procedure about 10 years ago.

Ruth ~ You're going to need a race car, with all the racing around you do! Be careful on the roads, and give Hershey and Harry a hug from me.

Schatzi ~ Next time you want to make lasagna, try soaking the noodles in a pan of hot water while you're preparing the sauce. You won't have that "cardboard" texture, and they won't suck up all the sauce. ;)

Kiko ~ Bunco! How I miss playing that! When we were stationed in Germany, a group of us would get together once a month to play. Nobody around here has even heard of it!

Weezle ~ Hope you are feeling better!

Kyemom ~ Your addition sounds nice! You'll have to post pictures when it's all finished! We have a screened in porch, and we love it. We put storm windows in for the winter and a fireplace, too, so we can use it all year.

Pearshape ~ Sorry, I hate to have my picture taken. But I wear my hair short, in a wedge, sort of like Dorothy Hamil. It's dark brown, and I have "warm caramel" highlights in it. I love it, and it's so easy to take care of. I'm not good with messing with my hair, so it's perfect for me.

02-23-2006, 10:02 AM
My cell phone works again! Huzzah! I guess it needed to dry out. Of course, now I'm trooping around with a phone that's been doused with toilet water. Well, we all have our totally gross challenges in life.

Yesterday, I went to a nutritionist and I'm not exactly content with the consultation. She lumped SBD in with Atkins as low-carb and seemed to dismiss both as hooey. She suggested that such diets usually result in just water weight. I tend to disagree -- I don't think I've lost 38 pounds of water!

She recommended that I eat more carbs -- 30-40 carbs per meal and 15 per snack. She also suggested reducing my protein intake each day. I'm in favor of disregarding that advice. I need that protein to fill me up! Of course, I do take glucophage for insulin resistance and PCOS, so maybe I could handle more carbs. Any thoughts?

Freaky -- sleeping in til 7! I feel positively lazy -- when I sleep in, it's until 11 or so!

usmc -- hope your little one is all right -- kids develop differently, my sisters and I weren't more than 17 pounds at 1 year, and my niece is 25 pounds at 17 months. It varies a lot!

MsCrockett -- brown rice with salsa sounds great; I might try it with fish one of these days.

Ruth -- busy, busy! It's all I can do to drag myself to work and sit at my desk each day :dizzy:

Pearshape -- is that GCGF book v. helpful? I find I might like a little more explanation than the original SBD book.

Schatzi -- We have some sun in Boston, but I think it'll be fading away soon!

Jana, kyemom -- have great days!

02-23-2006, 10:03 AM
usmchoney-my boy is almost 2 and he's hovering right about 22lbs. Last checked he's was in the 3% for weight but he's just a little dude. I hope all is well with your girl

Freaky-I'm in for the beat down!!

Nice job Ms Crockett!!

Hi to everyone!

I'm doing my usually-eggs-->to the gym-->blah blah

actually we're having a couple and their kids over tonight so that should be fun. I'm making my famous baked ziti but i'm using hte dreamfields pasta, once in a while...

Morning Chicks - thank you for the welcome yesterday :D

Way to go MsCrockett!!!! That's a great way to start the day. :bravo: :carrot: :flow1:

Not much going on here today. The baby was up every 45 minutes last night and my eldest woke up with an ear infection.....I'm telling you - the fun never ends :^: On the upside I stayed OP yesterday with my eating and I remembered to bring my water to work today.

Hope everyone has a great day!

02-23-2006, 10:11 AM
Good morning, Chickies~~ :coffee:

That's tea in the cup, btw...Twinings Darjeeling with splenda and lf milk. Had 2 scrambled eggs and 1 slice of ww toast with a wee bit of butter for breakfast.

It's SOOO ugly out...Schatzi, I say we Chicks just fly South for the winter. Acapulco sounds good to me! :rain: :rain: go away....

Crock-- :cheer: on your 3# loss. WTG, girl!!

Ruth, just reading your post made me want to go sit down and take a break! And I'm already sitting! Hope you have a good day. Stay safe! Glad Hershey's in fine fettle and you'll have her around for years to come. We're just waiting for the IRS check to arrive so we can get Her Majesty in to be spayed. Hopefully that will put some weight on her. She's gotten kind of thin lately. Vet says it's probably due to false pregnancy. I've been supplementing her diet with an egg and full fat yogurt every morning to see if that helps, but so far, it's only helped her maintain.

Everyone else--Hello!!

02-23-2006, 10:20 AM
"Weigh to go" Crock!!!! :cp:

Kyemom: yes!!! I forgot about your response to the addition!!! I am soooooo xxxxxcited fer you!!! Sounds DIVINE!!!! oooh and Cottage yer hair sounds Loverly as does a screened in porch with a fire place! How Puuuuurfect for Pennsy winters!
Sunlit: hmmmm, maybe a 2nd opinion, since it seems a lot of docs recommnend SB... she might not be "up" on the latest info on GI... maybe talk to your PCOs doc about it?
Kelly Welcome to the Daily Chick Chat!
Mamacita:ARRRRIIIIIBBBBBAAAAA!!!!ONDELAY ONDELAY!!!!!!, lets book a flight!!!! I will be your book writing assistant, and we can write it off as book research, yeah, yeah, that's the ticket!!!
Battmom: Yeh, I found Dreamfields to so far be the best WW..

Thanks fer all the tips on these "no boil" noodles... I think this Eyetalian goil is goin back to Tradition! besides I think my Nonni was rolling over in her grave at the thought that 1st it wasn't Homemade noodles and second no boil!

02-23-2006, 10:21 AM
Good morning, everyone! I made it to the gym yesterday and feel so good now. Dinner was pork tenderloin with rice for DH and Brian and cabbage for me. We all had broccoli too. I'm going simple again tonight with hamburgers on WW buns (lettuce, tomato, 2% swiss) along with deviled eggs, overnight slaw and corn on the cob. I know you can't have corn very often but I wanted to make it as a treat (and the grocery store didn't have good looking fresh brussel sprouts, asparagus or green beans so I just needed to grab something).

02-23-2006, 10:24 AM
SunLit ~ It sounds like that "nutritionist" doesn't have a clue what the SBD is all about! Don't listen to her, this is about the healthiest way of eating there is. She needs to go back to school and learn something this time.

Good Morning, Batmomm2000. Enjoy your dinner with your friends tonight!

Kelly J. ~ :welcome: ! Too bad your little ones are sick, I've been there!

Mamacita ~ Boy, your waiting for your refund, and we haven't even filed yet! I'm still waiting for my W-2 from my employer, but he promises I'll have it by next week. :dizzy:

02-23-2006, 10:28 AM
Well yesterday i got pulled by the undertoe off my towel and had a feeding frenzy all day. Pms and my schedule is all thrown off because the kids are off this week from school. Love them, but looking forward to calmness when they go back next week. Hoping to do better today, at least that is my plan. Hope everyone has a beachy day.

02-23-2006, 10:28 AM
Barb! Sorry I missed you, hon, we were posting at the same time! Yum, corn-on-the-cob!

02-23-2006, 11:33 AM
My primary care doc seemed to think it was fine, so I'm going to go with her, Schatzi!

The nutritionist called the glycemic index a "fake" calculation, with unreasonable portion sizes. I went to her because she was listed as a diabetes specialist, even though I'm not diabetic, only insulin resistant. I am mourning the loss of my $25 copay.

02-23-2006, 11:36 AM
Morning everyone.....busy busy today! I just got my AVON order in yesterday, so I have to go through it & make sure nothing is missing. I did check out the stuff bunny (I got it for my niece) it's too cute - I can't wait to give it to her! I'm wearing my pedometer - 150 steps so far this morning (I just got up about 30 mins ago - so not bad)
No time to post to every one individual - but I wish all of you a great OP day!
Weezle - hope you're feeling better!

02-23-2006, 11:55 AM
Good Morning Chickies!

Ruth - you are one busy lady!

SunLit - I really don't like it when ppl lump SBD in with Adkins. My doctor had the ~nerve~ to call SBD a 'fad diet' when I told him I wanted to start it. It is so frustrating sometimes.

Today feels like a good day. I had a good breakfast and although I left the house late, I still made it to work on time. I've already had 1/2 of my daily water and it's only 9.45! It's the small things that make me happy

I'm still thinking about going back to P1 for a few days to get rid of all the bad carb cravings I've been having. I think it would be the best way to refocus and stay on track.

Work has slowed down a bit. My boss left abruptly at the beginning of the year, so basically I've been doing two jobs for two months. But we are very close to hiring a new department head and I can't wait.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Well ladies, what can I say. Started out yesterday with the best intentions of curing my self sabotage  woes from the day before, hitting the gym big time and calling it a day. I think I am getting sick however and after a whole day of great eating I went into self sabotage mode because I was not feeling well and then got home and fell asleep on the couch. :faint: Sucks because usually I am so busy and cannot find time to fit both a strength training session and a workout into one day but yesterday I was completely clear…Well I will have to try and do something with today. I have a story to write for the paper (yuck I HATE writing) and the rest of the evening is mine. Need to get some laundry done, I think I will take it to the mat across from my gym and mutlitask. :nose: Well here is to staying OP, getting in lots of water and moving what your mama gave ya! :lifter:

Jana m- Goodmorning!

Freaky – where do I sign up for that campaign lol, something really does need to be done about THOSE girls. :tantrum:

Mamahulk – sounds like you have a busy day girl, I am glad everything went well with the cardiologist.

Usmchoney – I will keep my fingers :crossed: for your little one.

Mscrockett – Goodmorning, you are such a great girl taking care of everyone.

Ruth – I am officially sending you a retirement assistant to get all this done for you lol.

Pear – do those shakes tastes horrible? I just don’t know if I could bring myself to drink one…

Schatzi – :hun: ooooh did you say steak?

Kyemom – what happened at work? I hate those days, have you ever noticed they come in twos?

Cottage – I have no tried those muffins but I may have to, they sound yummy and lo cal so I won’t get out of hand with them.

Sunlit – the cell phone you dropped in the toilet, :yikes: make sure you spray it with something sanitary before you use it lol…Some nutritionists only want to work around what they think…I think the fact that she just lumped atkins and sb together and dismissed both seems to tell me she isn’t thinking about you at all. If it were a doctor I would say listen up, but I think you should take her advice with a grain of salt.

Barb – congrats on getting to the gym. Sounds like you are doing a great job staying OP.

Lindy – it happens, happened to me last night in fact. :sssh:

02-23-2006, 12:21 PM
Good morning everyone!

I'm late yet again getting here this morning. We had a fog delay so school started 90 minutes late which put me to the office late and then I had to get the payroll going.

Last night I made the chicken enchiladinis from this site, oh my goodness were they good!! I had some for dinner with plenty of leftovers and I brought some for lunch today.

Today is a busy day for me, I'm picking the kids up from school and taking them to their hair appointments. My oldest daughter is getting her eyebrows waxed for the first time, she's in desperate need, I just hope she's ready for the pain. I've warned her but she really wants to do it. Then we have to come home, get homework done and have dinner. I put a roast in the crock pot this morning so at least most of dinner will be done. After dinner my youngest daughter has Brownies and I have to pack up all the cases of cookies so I can hand more out. I'm hoping to be home by 8pm.

I hope everyone that isn't feeling well is feeling better, that everyone that has a busy day ahead is able to get everything done and that everyone has a great OP day!

02-23-2006, 01:06 PM
Got sent home from work sick today. Hitting the couch. Going on 104 hours with this crap now. It can go away any time. Hope you all are better than I am.

At least I'm down to 130 right?

02-23-2006, 01:24 PM
Hi Ladies!

Sorry I've been MIA lately. My body/brain had decided it had enough and turned off for a bit (dx - PPD). Soooo...back on meds for me - which is a good thing that it was taken care of before it got tooo out of hand. The downside (upside?) to the meds is that I have absolutley NO interest in eating. Seriously...I have to force myself to eat something. I think I may do some shakes for a while just to make sure I'm getting enough calories/nutrients.

I haven't had much energy either, but I force myself to exercise. I discovered that I LOVE weight lifting. I would do it every day instead of cardio if I could. Plus, I really do think it makes me feel better - like I really accomplished something. If you haven't tried it...please consider!

Sorry to be rushing in and out, but busy day today. Live well and be happy beachies!

02-23-2006, 02:06 PM
Morning ladies... I'm feeling bummed today because the partner couple of me and Eric broke up... She and I are really good friends and he and Eric are really good friends and we had so much fun together! She pretty much got dumped on her a** and is distraught... they just bought a house together (although thankfully it was just in his name but STILL)... poor girl so I'm taking the afternoon off to help her find a place... hope all is well, I'm still doing well as far as eating and stuff is concerned... Made my weekly batch of lentil soup last night and it's as delicious as ever!

02-23-2006, 03:20 PM
weezle ~ Have you seen a doctor for this bug you have? If this goes on another day, maybe you need some antibiotics. I don't really like to take medications, but sometimes you really need them to get well. Take care, sweetie, I'm thinking of ya!

I'm "working from home" this afternoon. After getting the girls from their schools, I just hated the thought of going back to their house for the rest of the day, and they were thrilled to come to my house. I think we're all bored with winter and just needed a change. Maggie refuses to take a nap here, but they're playing nicely together, so I'm not going to push it. I was able to finish all the laundry and got the oven cleaned, finally, and I just tried a new recipe for a lentil soup for tonight's supper, but BLAGH! It's very bland. It's made with lentils, kale, tomatoes and sweet potatoes, and I'm going to have to find something else to add to it to liven it up. Maybe some turkey sausage would do it. We're going to have to eat it this time, but I won't make that recipe again!

02-23-2006, 06:37 PM
Well, it wasn't a very good day. On a positive note, Keely's new doctor is very nice. However, he has diagnosed her with failure to thrive. Two weeks ago, she weighed 15 lbs. 4 oz. Now she's back down to 14 lbs. 6 oz. She's 12 months old and she's minus three is height, weight and head circumference. They took more blood and urine (she's so used to getting a catheter that she didn't even cry) and he referred us to an eductional-developmental intervention specialist. I'm just waiting on them to call me back for an appointment. He also wants to test her for cystic fibrosis. Lovely. I feel so helpless. So I drowned my sorrows in a pan of brownies. There went my 2 lb. weightloss.

02-23-2006, 07:20 PM
Today, has been a good day, I stayed all OP, I am tired though, the load of wood got me,, loading and unloading sheeewwwwwww,
As I was doing all of that, I came to a decision, My Best Friend (yesterdays post) Is not being Supportive, I did call this morning to tell her I had lost 3 more pounds and she rushed off the phone with no comment, SO I have you guys to share my diet ups and downs with and My Mother and little brother are very supportive, BUT My BF will just be in the dark about it from here on out! I need support and if I choose to talk about this or that pertaining to food , she should be there for that , if she cant be and is bringing me down, I gotta just stop with her when it comes to my changes..

I am so sorry usmchoney - you can not beat yourself up about it. All you can do is keep doing everything you can. I know that nothing I say can sooth you right now. Please take care of yourself though because she needs you.

Not forgiving the way she is acting but your friend does not want you to change. She may be sabbatoging you with out realizing it for the same reason we sabbatoge ourselves. We fear the unknown and change is scary. Maybe you need to let her off the hook as a support for you in this endevor and hope that she climbs aboard when she sees that you plan to continue. I hope it works out okay with you and your friend.

02-23-2006, 10:26 PM
usmchoney - First off, and I second what Freaky said, take care of yourself because your daughter really needs you right now. Hopefully it will not amount to anything serious, aren't some people/children just extremely small? My babies were all average to big so I can't relate but if you look at some adults that are very tiny, you can bet they were tiny as infants/toddlers.

Crock - Maybe with time your bf will come around. It's a little puzzling as to why she wouldn't be supportive. You are only trying to better your life by becoming more healthy and you're doing it in a healthy way. I know it's hard though because support of those who are around you daily is so important.

My in-laws took me to the new mexican restaraunt in town. True, authentic mexican which for my area is a first. When the waiter put the chips and salsa on the table, my mouth began to water. I didn't indulge though and I ordered a chicken fajita salad which was really good. Not completely SB, I know the sour cream was full fat but it was good.

Tomorrow morning I'm meeting with the other cookie mom for our Brownie troop so I don't know whether I'll have time to get on here until the afternoon.

Wishing everyone a nice start to tomorrow!

Whoa, what a busy day. Thanks for the concern earlier in the day - no problems getting to work.

Sun - I don't know what that dietician is thinking. I'm also insulin resistant and on glucophage. My doctor is the one who recommended SBD. Granted, I haven't been keeping up with it, so I haven't lost anything lately. But, whenever I'm OP, the weight definitely comes off. I do think the glucophage is helping though.

honey - Sorry that your visit to the doc didn't go as well as you hoped. I probably would have dived into a pan of brownies too, but the other chicks are right. Please keep taking care of yourself so you can be healthy for your daughter.

mscrockett - Hang in there. Not sure why people react the way they do. My family has always been kind of the same way. Especially my mother - one minute she's telling me that I need to lose weight and the next she's pushing food at me. Wierd. Anyway, support is what the chickies are here for!!!! :cheer:

Okay, funny story. On Thursday nights I go to a country dancing class that I just love. The wife teaches the line dances, and her husband will teach us to two-step if we want to learn. So, tonight I went to class and was doing the two step when the guy I was dancing with tried something that I hadn't done before. He spun me one way, stopped and then tried to spin me the opposite direction. The only problem was that I didn't know he was going to spin me in the opposite direction - and my body sure didn't take the hint either. My momentum just kept me going the wrong way, and BOOM! down on my arse I went. I looked like one of the skaters that wipe out and go sliding across the ice. You should have seen the look on the guy's face. It was priceless! Of course then, he got "yelled at" by his wife for dropping me on the floor. We recovered nicely though. Once I figure out what he was trying to do, we kept dancing and finally got it right. Oh well, guess it's not a party til someone falls down. :encore:

Hope everyone has a peaceful night.
