Good morning! Starting a new week off on the right foot. I am only working half a day today (was supposed to have the day off, but they said if we worked, we could take the holiday whenever later on, like a floating holiday, so here I am!), so my schedule may end up alterring my menu, but here it is for now:

2 boca burgers on wheat buns w/Miracle Whip
chicken w/marinade
wheat noodles w/veggies and marinade
leftover chocolate cake1181 calories :)

got up this morning and did 30 minutes on the elliptical. I plan on doing an hour more tonight in anticipation of Wednesday (my weekly at-home weigh in day). I feel like I'm retaining a lot of water because of the salt from sports drinks this weekend and the scale confirmed it today - i weighed in at 293 - 5 lbs more than last week. But i hope if i do well the next two days and drink TONS of water, I will show a good loss on Wednesday.

Breakfast - 1 piece wheat toast with PB
Lunch - 2 tacos and a small roasted chicken sandwich
Dinner - 3 pieces of low-sodium FF ham and a piece of cheese on a low-carb whole wheat tortilla

Fitday calories: 1080

I've had 4 liters of water so far today. My goal is 8 liters to flush out my system!

Well, my menu today definitely changed...we hit Burger King for dinner :oBut I actually ended up with even FEWER calories than planned earlier :dizzy: Here's what I had:

leftover chocolate cake from work party
1 Boca burger on wheat bun w/Miracle Whip
BK kid's meal (4-pc chicken tenders and small fried w/diet coke)--it said 4-pc chicken tenders on the menu, but it was actually 5 little crown-shaped nuggets...I'm assuming that the 5 little nuggets would be the same as 4 regular tenders, so that's how I counted it (based on the nutritional info on their website)--OH, and I just had ketchup with the chicken instead of my usual honey mustard, ranch dressing, or other super-sugary sauce :pTotal of 1077 calories :D but don't look at my nutrients for the day

Congrats on keeping your calories in check, Jilly!! I know how hard that is to do, but you did it!!! :)

Suz, be careful w/the water. I know coming from me that's laughable, but the reason I can drink 2 gallons a day is b/c I'm on meds that are a super diuretic. I'd hate to see you flushing out potassium & other nutrients you need, BUT if you do it slowly enough, and are exercising, you should be fine. Water is a good thing. :) Not trying to boss you, just don't want you to get sick. Also, my trainer told me to cut the sports drinks with water, to make them not so potent.

Today:

'capetown harvest' rooibos tea
kashi 'cheerios' --sorry can't remember the name of them
skim soy milk--i think they stuck vanilla into a original bottle, i made mac & cheese with it friday & it smelled like vanilla. :o

12oz calcium fortified orange juice

water water & more water

Hi folks,

Had my first 4 point day (see challenge) in a week or two. :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: Glad to see everybody posting. Are a few faces are missing? Seems so :(

Jillybean, I tried some frozen soy burgers at the store today inspired by your boca burger example. Seems like they might be simple, easy and quick.

Jillygal, got a new cheesecake recipe from my favorite low-carb chef. PM if you want it.

Dishyfishy, I read someting you posted on another thread. It cracked me up:)

I have been having fun checking out cookbooks from the library and making a binder of healthy recipes I would like to try.

I don't weigh unless I am at the doctor, but have lost 1.5 inches off my waist and .5 off my hips in the last 3-4 weeks. It feels really motivating to see the numbers moving.

DollyR, congrats on your perfect day (i saw your other thread). that is so awesome!!!!!

Good job on the calories, Jilly!

Thanks for the idea about the sports drinks, SuchAPrettyFace! That's a good idea. I normally don't drink them, but I was running for roughly 3 hrs yesterday and that seemed to work the best for me. and thanks for the advice on the water! :)

and activeadventurer, that is wonderful about your inches lost!!! It feels so good to see that kind of difference!

active--I just tried an actual Boca brand burger yesterday for the first time, and I must say that the texture wasn't quite as good as the Morningstar Farms brand (IMO), so if you don't like whatever kind you got, you may still want to try another brand. Hopefully, though, you will like what you got so you don't have to worry about it! I got the Boca ones this week because they have fewer calories than the Morningstar Farms ones, but that may have come at a price :p

sapf--I like those Kashi "Cheerios," too! The little heart-shaped ones? It's the Kashi cereal that tastes the most like "real" cereal to me :dizzy:

I'm so excited about yesterday and the total control I had over BK (rather than letting BK control me!). I will be on track again today, too! Here's the plan:

yogurt
2 Boca burgers on wheat buns w/Miracle Whip
chicken, bbq sauce, and shredded cheese on whole wheat tortillas--last time, I tried to make quesedillas, but they were soooo messy, so I think this time I'll try to make them more like little burritos and see how that works. Even if we end up having to eat them with a fork (again), they're very yummy and don't take long to make :) Per Fitday, that's about 918 calories (although I'll have to check my package of cheese to get that number right--I estimated, but I know the Fitday cheese calories never match up with the nutrition labels :dizzy: ).

Yesterday was a fairly good day. Had the usual eggs and sausage for breakfast, although I didn't get to eat lunch as I was in classes. Didn't really have a dinner last night, either, although I had quite a few pieces of string cheese. Premonition of sickness perhaps, as I'm feel vile today. Hopefully a nap right here in the AM will help with that a little.

Well, here's my plan for the day. I'm retaining water due to TOM, so I'm really not sure if I'll show a loss tomorrow morning, which I am kinda bummed about. But I guess all I can do is stick to my plan today and see what happens.

Breakfast - piece of pumpernickel toast with PB
Lunch - spinach salad with couple slices of deli turkey on top
Dinner - grilled chicken sandwich on light bread and grilled squash and zucchini

Fitday estimate: ~1100 calories

Exercise goal - 1 hr on elliptical, 30 minutes of weights, 30 minutes of yoga ball work (crunches, squats, etc)

Blah. My calories indicate I should be losing, even with my horrible 3500 calorie day if you average in for the past 2 weeks. It's like 1750 calories a day. And I'm at 250 pounds. And doing exercise. But no loss! So I'm discouraged, and stopped exercising, plus I'm moping and depressed and blah.

Monday (jury duty)
Breakfast: Low sugar loatmeal and a soy breakfast patty
Snack: Soy chips
Lunch: Healthy Choice stuffed pasta
Snack: Peanuts, a peach
Dinner: Some Healthy Choice meal, I can't even remember
Snack: Sugar-free ice cream bar

Calories: About 1250

Try not to worry too much about water weight, Suz. I ended my week with an overall gain of a pound, but I was up by 6 or 7 a couple of days ago. It's times like this the scales are downright useless. You're doing great!

Well done for choosing wisely at BK, Jill. :high: Bet you feel really good about that. :)

Looks as though you're on a roll, Darlene. :cb:

Congrats again on your shrinkage, Denise! :bravo:

Mac and cheese with vanilla soy milk, SAPF?! :barf: I'll try almost anything once, but I think I'll give that one a miss. :p

I'm with you on feeling miserable, rabidstoat. I'm trying hard to stay upbeat, but must confess I'm struggling a bit. Look how far you've come though! Maybe you need to reward yourself with a night of pampering to relax and unwind. :queen:

My mouth has calmed down a lot although it's still a little swollen. It didn't help when I accidentally whizzed over the raw spot with the electric toothbrush this morning. :yikes: :censored: And this was after I was up most of the night (for the 3rd time in a fortnight) with wicked pains that I'm guessing is some sort of acid reflux thing. :?: I'm gonna try to choose some blander food in the hopes that it'll help. :halffull:

Mon 20 Feb:

500 ml offee with 2 tblsp. half & half.
Zone Perfect bar.
1 cup brown rice, 3 oz lean beef cooked with garlic, onions, and some random spices. I wish I could remember what I put in 'cause it was rather tasty. :dz:
2 oz piece pumpkin bread.
2 oz whole-grain tortilla chips with 2 oz cream cheese.
1 beef sausage thing (can't remember what the label said) in a small whole-wheat roll with mustard, onions, and tomato, 3 baked perogies.

Exercise: 30 minute walk.

Today's Plan:

Coffee.
Zone Perfect bar.
Cereal, raisins, 0% milk.
Cottage cheese on toast.
Fresh pineapple.
Tuna with veggies, brown rice.

Another blah day. I almost went off on a binge but kept it in check, mostly, so that's good. Yay! Third day of jury duty in the freezing rain and miserable traffice while work piles up back at the office. Today I'm on an actual trial, though, so it should be better. It's not sitting on a jury people dislike. It's all the waiting.

Tuesday
Breakfast: Raisin bran with 2% milk, and a breakfast patty
Snack: Graham cracker blueberry bar
Lunch: McDonald's grilled chicken salad with ranch dressing
Snack: Banana from home, Snickers bar from the vending machine
Dinner: Shrimp creole over brown rice, small slice of horseradish cheese
Snack: Sugar-free low fat ice cream bar

Calories: About 1850
No exercise.
Still puts me at 1750 for the past week, 1625 for the past 2, 1575 for the past month, on average....

DollyR
02-22-2006, 07:17 AM
I did not have the "Perfect Day" today but it was a heck of a lot better than most of the past month.

I ate:
I packet of low sugar oatmeal
1 banana
1/2 cup of blueberries
1 bowl of tofu soup
Korean veggie sides and kimchi
1 cup of brown rice
2/3 cup of hummus
25 pita chips??
3 cups of taco soup
cup of ff sf pudding
cool whip free

I went to the treadmill room and came back because it was full and one treadmill was broken. If that happens again I am putting on warmer clothes and going for a long walk outside for like an hour. It would of been the same as 35 minutes fast on the treadmill......what do you guys think?????

jillybean720

rabid--I wholeheartedly believe that it's those averages (weekly, monthly, etc.) of calories that really matter in the long-run, so I still think you're doing great! It's frustrating to have high-cal days in the short-term, but if you overeat and gain a pound, but then compensate and lose 2, then you're still ahead of where you started, right? ;)

Dolly--treadmill or walking outside, any exercise is good exercise! Plus, if it's cold out, your body burns more calories just trying to keep warm (maybe not enough to make a difference, but every little bit helps, right? :dizzy: ).

hehe, I'm with Dishy on the vanilla soy milk mac n cheese, sapf :p I LOVE mac n cheese (can eat a whole box myself as a meal), but I dunno about that vanilla part...

Kayley--I hope you're having some snacks in there somewhere! 2 meals is hardly anything for a whole day! Glad you're feeling better, though

As for me, I ended yesterday with 852 calories. Today looks like:
yogurt

salad (lettuce, corn, Mexican blend shredded cheese, salsa, and ff sour cream)
Campbell's Soup at Hand chicken n stars
wannabe chicken parmesan (boneless, skinless chicken breast baked w/tomato sauce and Italian blend shredded cheese) served w/wheat spaghetti and tomato sauceTotal of 970 calories :)

Hi everyone,

February's a tough month isn't it?! Spring is almost here - I hope!

It's funny, I've been struggling this week too, I'm expecting TOM, but more than that, I think losing the 4 lbs last week has kind of freaked me out. I thought I was over the drama, but I somehow find myself back in it again.
I've been trying to add more foods to my plan, but for right now I think I'll go back to the old foods that I feel comfortable with and hold on tight.

Yesterday, I made the mistake of spending too much time with a box of white chocolate peanut butter bunnies that found their way into our house, after spending waaayyyy too many points on them, the rest of the box is now in the garbage!

Here's my food from yesterday...

2 - coffee
1 - egg whites
3 - luna bar
1 - yogurt
2 - banana
5 - zone bar
2 - coffee
3 - chocolate
7 - LC chicken
4 - chocolate
30 points (out of 25)

Exercise: eliptical 20 mins - 250 cals, ARC 20 mins - 250 cals, abs, lower body
Weekly calories - 1,000/2,000 goal

Have a great (or better) day everyone! :)

so I lost 2 lbs this past week, which was a surprise to me given that I can still tell how swollen my fingers are from TOM and water retention. Plus, I didn't work out last night for as long as I should have.

Here's my plan for the day:

B - 1/4 c scrambled eggs and 2 sausage patties
L - low-carb whole wheat tortilla with 2 slices low sodium ff ham, low cal cheese slice, slice of tomato, and 2 strips of bacon
D - chicken breast topped with marinara sauce and low cal cheese with side salad

Exercise - an hr on the elliptical

Good luck everyone! Let's try for more perfect days!!!

I know i'm a bit late, but I thought you wouldn't mind if I jumped in. I'm on the Metifast program, so 5 of my 6 meals are pre packaged.

Today I ate:

9am - 24oz water
11am - Hot Coco
12pm - Banana (not in plan, but ate anyway)
12:30pm - 8oz water

I've been MIA due to a low-grade migraine that's been pestering me for 3 days. Its really infringed on my eating plan in that I've been feeling sick to my stomach, so while I haven't gone over on points at all, I'm not eating as I normally would. Another blah, rainy, miserable day, but my last day of jury duty. I just want to see the sun, I think that'd help. Had a headache most of the day. Still do. Just, blah. And my healthy snacks I packed for today were left behind on the counter, so I had to make due at the vending machine. A hungry, cranky juror is not a fair thing.

Wednesday
Breakfast: Oatmeal and a Morningstar breakfast patty
Snack: Peanuts from the vending machine
Lunch: Blimpie 6" turkey sub, no cheese, and a side salad with fat free Italian dressing
Snack: Other half of the peanuts, and a McD's fruit and yogurt parfait to celebrate the trial ending
Dinner: Leftover chicken marsala, too lazy to heat up veggies
Munching: Soy chips

Calories: Just under 1600. Way too much fat, but the stupid vending machine had nothing good in it. I consider it a major victory that I ate a healthy lunch when in a cruddy mood. :)
No exercise.

Yesterday, I unintentionally didn't really eat anything until almost 9pm. I had brought a yogurt to work to eat, but I was just busy and never even gave it a second thought. We also had a big party for a guy who's been here 13 years and is retiring, so everyone brought goodies for lunch yesterday, but I just grabbed a can of diet soda and went back to my cubicle so I wouldn't be tempted by the heavily-dressed salads, frosted cake, cookies, white rolls with butter, etc. So yesterday, all I had was one bite of the salad I made (tangy taco salad--not at ALL healthy, but very yummy) and then my Subway after my TOPS meeting (12" chicken teriyaki on honey oat and 2 peanut butter cookies).

My TOPS meeting went well--posted a 3.5 pound loss, so that's 5 pounds in the past 2 weeks :carrot: Calorie cycling seems to be doing me a bit of good!

Arghhh, I haven't posted in days (or even visited the site, shame on me). I blame the Olympics!! In a way I'll be glad when they're over so I can get some sleep and get back on schedule.

I've handled food quite well (grabbing a few bites between watching skating, snowboarding, curling, etc.) and have taken to jogging with the dog (not that I can handle much more than a few minutes before lapsing back into a brisk walking).

This weekend will be tough to stay on plan because its our "Niagara Falls Romance Package", which includes champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and dinner in a swanky restaurant (I went on-line and checked out the menu and noticed the word "butter" is used in excess). I have a feeling I'll be having a few alcoholic beverages at the casino, also. Oh well, a girl can only try her best. ;)

Okay. I'm feeling better today, a little, but I think that's coincidental with the weekend. I'm going on a business trip this weekend and decided to splurge for a night's hotel room on my own, and am going out a day early. I'm not sure what there is to do in Kansas City, but if nothing else I'll lounge in the hotel and read. I think there's a good science center, though, and a zoo, and an art museum, and I might go see a movie. Should be good, because I have a 12+ hour day Monday, followed by a way early flight home and a full day work Tuesday.

Friday (the un-nutrition day)
Breakfast: Krispy Kreme glazed donut (just one, the coworker ate four!) and a light yogurt
Snack: 1 oz cheddar cheese (same coworker has eaten most of my cheese!)
Lunch: Healthy choice meal of some chicken-y sort
Snack: Big bag of animal crackers and small box of jelly beans
Dinner: Tilapia fillet with peanut spicy stuff on it, and some asparagus and water chestnuts sautees in olive oil and balsamic vinegar infused with diced red onion, mmmmm!

No exercise. Nutrition was wonky. Half my calories were 'junk', but I did eat some healthy stuff, so it could be worse!

Calories: About 1350

well, i only did a little bit of exercise yesterday because i started cramping up, so I'll do better this evening. I am in class all weekend (9-5 both days!), so I am bringing my lunch since they usually feed us pizza. My plan is:

B - already had my wheat toast with PB
L - low sodium ff ham on wheat toast with a granny smith apple
Maybe a banana as a snack if I am hungry
D - grilled chicken breast and some kind of veggies?

good luck everyone!

Whew, yesterday, I managed nearly 4000 calories of deliciousness (my fitday said 3880, I think). I pretty much ate whatever I wanted but still only had 3 meals--just big, unhealthy meals :dizzy: But I still get up to 2300 calories each day for today and tomorrow to make my goal for the week, so it's still all part of my plan. Just gotta flush out the excess sodium now!

Had two emotional eating days. Yesterday was the worst. Ate two big meals instead of my usual 6 small ones and now I feel as if I have rocks in my stomach. You really can't go home anymore as the saying goes. I messed up my knee exercising (it goes "out" occasionally) and am pretty much grounded temporarily and in pain. Looking to get back on track today and get off the emtional roller coaster.

Glad to see you back SAPF. Hope Thursday went well.

Yesterday, I could NOT stop snacking! Granted, I just had lots of string cheese, and a couple of pieces of beef jerky, but STILL! UGH. Don't know what triggered that. Well, here's the plan for today:
B: 3 eggs, fried & 4 sausage links.
L: Boneless skinless chicken breast cut up, and mixed with 1 cup of broccoli. Topped with cheese.
D: Salad with chicken, cheese, & South Beach ranch dressing.
Snacks: Since I'm working, I'm going to take a couple pieces of string cheese with me, since I KNOW I'll get hungry about feeding time! (I work in a nursing home for Alzheimer's patients.)

Exercise: Well, besides my running around all night, and lifting people, and such, I'm going to do some "Dance off the Inches", and hop on the treadmill before work! :)

Today was my weigh in. (Sunday morning) I have lost two pounds this week! I am going to the gym on base and getting sweaty in a little bit. I am shooting for not only perfect days but a perfect week! Sunday Feb. 26 to Sunday March 5.

I have worked with the points and tried to have perfect days. I went to the commisary today to load up on foods for all three meals that will help me along this week!

Weird day, I ate little in the morning and afternoon, and a huge dinner.

Breakfast: Oatmeal
Lunch: Leftover asparagus dish and some tilapia
Snack: TGIFriday potato skin chips (on the airplane)
Dinner: Footlong Subway turkey and cheese with light mayo, and some baked lays chips

I'm currently trying to resist the candy downstairs for desert. My saving grace is that I'd have to get up, change out of my jammies, go 8 floors down to the lobby, purchase it, and bring it up. I think my laziness might outweigh my binge urge tonight.

Calories: About 1325 (and about 75% of them for dinner...)

So it is half way through a good day. I walked 35 minutes at 3.2 miles per hour on a treadmill and then walked to the Korean Wal-Mart (Emart) which includes an overpass bridge for a busy city street. I am happy with myself. The walk to the market was about an additional 20 minutes. When it gets a little warmer for me I may try to walk home from work......about 45 minutes to and hour's walk.

Today I ate:

1 cup of fat free milk
3 cups of taco soup
1 banana
1 bag of 94% fat free popcorn
1 Fillet of salmon
1/2 avocado
mixed veggies with a little olive oil
1 slice wheat bread
2 tsp margarine
Kimchi

Yesterday could have proven to be a comfort eating day...and I didn't really. I had a few more breakfast sausages than intended, but better than going for the dark chocolate!!!
Sunday:
~B: 2 eggs, fried & a few too many sausage links! :o
~L: 1 1/2 cups broccoli, cooked, topped with cheese.
~D: Piece of chicken, boneless/skinless, and 2 hot dogs, with a tad bit of cheese on top of them.
~Snack: Piece of string cheese.
**Worked out for only about 15 mins yesterday**

Monday's Plan:
~B: 3 eggs, fried, and 5 small sausage links.
~L: Going for Chinese. All veggies/chicken, no MSG/low sodium.
~D: Not sure yet. Blah.
**Taking the day off of cardio (Did 6 days in a row), but Mom and I are going to a mall later on, so there'll be a lot of walking to make up for it. :)**
