How are all my Nutrisystem buddies doing?

I am doing great- just finished my sixth week on the program, and have lost 29 pounds! I am amazed at how easy it's been- I still LOVE that every day my food is ready to go, and I don't have to cook! I did get a little tired of salads, and have been substituting carrot sticks on some days instead of my salad.

I have been exercising 6x a week, doing water aerobics and walking on my treadmill- I'm finding that I am actually looking forward to exercising now, when before it was my biggest struggle.

Just curious how everyone else has been doing?

Riz~ WOW!! 29lbs....CONGRATULATIONS!! :encore: VERY NICE WORK!! I am pleased to see this today. My dd and her bf just bought me a months supply and I am very excited waiting for it to get here. I wish you and myself "courage"!!! :rofl: I love the's so true.
Time for responsibility and I am ready. I'll look for you when I start. Would appreciate any input from a 6 week "pro". :dance:

Great job Riz! I'm in my 3rd week and have lost 8lbs. so far. Not bad, since I really haven't been exercising. Not to mention this week I have my monthly visitor :o I really need to get on the ball and start exercising regularly.

Melody, I know how you feel. I couldn't wait till my shipment arrived! I have found the majority of the foods pretty good, although it can't beat home-cooking! :D I've only had 3 things so far that weren't to my liking. :(

I've been using the NS website to log all my food and the journal to keep track of my daily thoughts about the diet. It has helped me see what triggers my cravings. I have cheated here and there, and don't really stick to it totally on the weekends. But I need to get serious because if I don't lose enough this month, I'll get frustrated...

Hello I saw your thread and I'm thinking about doing nutrisystem. I'm married and my concern is how to do the meal for the hubs? Any body have this problem and how have they handled it. How have you liked the diet and any info would be helpful. I'm not dieting it and I probably need to lost 50+ pounds I'm too scared to get on the scale.

Sharon~ Thanks for the encouragement. Congrats on your loss also!! Very nice!! I went to the website and joined after they ordered it. Wanted to read all the info I could get. I also ordered the book through our library.
They also sell it at I like your quote also and I am ready for action.

Quilt~ the kids bought me a month's supply. Not sure if I could really afford it on my own but I am hoping to get a good re-start out of it. go to their website and women there talk of how they handle meals. I read where they cook like they always did and just eat their food instead.
Either way....good luck with your decision.

I've yet to decide and I'm giving myself this week "hopefully" to resolve and go forward. I'm going to check out QVC and see if I can get them there just for a check and see.

I have some regular meal bars and some slim fast can drinks that I may use just this week to stick my toe in until I can get with a plan. I'm already facing a hurdle by visiting relatives out of town this weekend and I know there is a big dinner involved so I figure Monday is a good place to start. Thanks for the advice.

Great job! I started NS about five weeks ago, lost 16 pounds but fell off the bandwagon after having back surgery. However, I just went back to work yesterday and my skirt actually fit (it was snug before I left work about six weeks ago) - so I am motivated again to continue! Promptly got back on plan yesterday morning... and now DH wants to do it with me! He's been eating all my "reject" meals, lol. :D

Gonna stay on for another week before I weigh-in again (afraid I gained during my time off) - but I'm so glad to hear of other people doing this!

What's your fave meal? Personally, I'm digging those pizzas - I sprinkle about half a tablespoon of bacon bits and put garlic powder & italian seasoning... mmmmm!:cp:

That pizza sounds good, I'm not sure what comes with mine. I just ordered the one week supply. I've not weighed yet. Almost did this morning, but chickened out. I think I'm also going to join TOPS as a face to face support group. We've lived here 3 years and I've not worked very hard to make any friends so it wouldn't hurt to meet some nice people and have some diet support locally. TOPS will weigh me so I may leave it at that. But I think I will track during that first week on NS and see how it goes. Wow it would be great if my husband would join me, but he losing his weight another way.

Hey where do ya'll get those cute little scale measurements? As soon as I know what I weigh I'd like one of those.

I'm a really picky eater, so my autoship is very simple-

Breakfast- Granola, Shredded Wheat and Chocolate Chip Bars
Lunch- Bean and Ham Soup, Cream of Broccoli Soup, Minestrone Soup and Vegetable Beef Soup, and I also get the Toffee Nutripeptide Bars
Dinner- Chicken Primavera with Vegetables, Lasagna, Ravioli and Meat Sauce, Almond Chicken and Rice, Pepper Steak and Rice
Dessert- Lemon Blueberry Bar, Mocacchino Bar, Peanut Butter Bar, Caramel Bar

Those are my favorites, and that's what I stick to.

BUT, I strongly recommend trying everything, because you never know what you are going to like- personally, I hate the pizza, and that is most everyone's favorite!

Well I will try everything because I get funny/weird moods with food so I'd better give things a try. I'm getting excited for my package to come in and to a test week. Since I only ordered yesterday it should probably take about another week to get here. So I will weigh the day I start and then at the end. Even though mid way I may decide to go with it for a few months and then switch to calorie counting. Right now, I'm still making it minute by minute and hour by hour.

Riz~ i am having a ball. I feel a little silly about it but it's been a fun day. I got a basket and put day 1's meals in it and left it on the counter last night....i could hardly sleep like it was Christmas. :rofl: I love not cooking too and tossing the containers in the trash!! lol Hopefully these smaller portions will be the answer for me...just a bit worried about the sodium count though but time will tell.
yopu have done a fab job and wish you continued success!

Quilt~ I ordered from and they had the 28 meal International program there. I didn't want weekends off like the 20 day because that's the time when I can cheat and no one sees it! :rofl: Hope the kit arrives soon and you can tell us your thoughts too. you can find these "tickers" when you go to your user page. Then you click on change your signature and there will be an address you can click on to make one. There are also instructions on the webisite if you will go above here and click on 3fc on a diet weight loss community...then once there you can browse through the forums for instructions. if i find it, i'll post a link here later.

As I said day one is going well and it's so simple. I did my food shopping for veggies, salad and dairy and am all set to go. Even Jen (DD) was impressed with the varieties and amounts of foods allowed. with the international I will get to taste a LOT of different meals. Then I will sit down after the month draws to an end and decide if I can afford it and is it working. Keeping my fingers crossed. :scooter:

Hi, I'm new at this site, well not new, new I've browsed a few times for the reviews on the current "quick loss" pills that you see advertised on TV - You know which ones I mean! I joined and ordered my Nutrisystem meals yesterday. I can't wait til they come. I just celebrated my one month anniversary of quitting smoking, I was overweight before, and I've put on some more weight now. I need to loose at least 50 pounds, I don't own a scale, so I guess I'm going to have to buy one. I bought a book "Eat up to slim down" and I swear I was cooking every nite until about 7:00pm getting ready for the next day's breakfasts & lunches, my husband & I were both following that plan. What a pain!! I'm hoping the NS plan will be easy to follow. My mom lost weight on Nutrisystems a long, long time ago, think I was still in high school, I'm 42 now. I started walking on the treadmill a week before I quit smoking and have been trying to do it at least 5 times a week. Boy I hope this works! So glad I found this forum I wanted to find some people that had actually done the plan themselves and not just go on the testimonials on NS's website, I mean really who would put negative things on there when they're trying to sell you something?? I'll post more when I finally get my meals!

I have to admit that I was a little skeptical at first myself, and the main reason why I decided on Nutrisystem was for convenience- I don't like cooking for myself, and I didn't want to go to any meetings.

I have been really suprised at how easy this diet has been, and at the weight that I have lost. It is hands down the easiest diet I have ever done- I too have spent hours cooking and preparing meals on diets before, and while I don't mind when my husband is home, because he'll eat anything, I HATE cooking for myself.

I love coming home and knowing that my dinner is literally four minutes from being ready to eat. It is so easy for me to avoid temptations and convenience foods because I know that I have something waiting at home for me. In the past, that has been my biggest downfall- after a long day, when I am tired and hungry, the last thing I want to do is cook.

I know this diet isn't for everyone, but it's for me! :)

Hi all, I've been on the plan for 1 wk, tomorrow (Tues) is my weigh in day. I have to confess though, that I've gotten on the scales every day this week. It's surprising really - I went up and down daily. So we'll see if tomorrow is as good or better than today. I work 6p-6a 3 days a week, and I'm still trying to get my meal times figured out. It's a challenge, but y'all are right, it's much better not having to cook. I'm planning on joining the Army Reserves, and I really need to lose this weight. I hope we all do great!!:carrot:

I'm back and glad to see every body is still doing great. My QVC NS hasn't arrived yet, but I did get an email saying it has shipped. My husband and I went to my uncles Thursday night and got back late Monday Night, but guess what, a cousin has been using NS for over 2 months and she has lost more than 2 clothes sizes. She looks great! I got a chance to talk to her. She does the weekends off plan, but she stays on her diet. Her package came with vitamins and everything. She said it also included a great info package on what you could eat out and what to eat on the weekends to stay on the diet.

I was very impressed by her results. I've been maintaining my plan as I started it last week. I'm eating about 1200 calories daily so I've given my diet a good kick start while waiting for my NS to arrive.

Melody thanks for the info on how to get the sign block. I've not weighed yet but will go to my first Tops meeting tonight. I've been waiting till my NS package arrives then I will weight the first day I start it.

I also ordered the book Calorie Queens and it came while we were gone and I was reading it last night and so far find that a very realistic approach to life time eating. I'm so glad I'm back!

Quilt~ my order came a few days earlier than QVC had said so maybe yours will too! I have been reading their book also I got on loan from a lending library. I think all the diet books have good info and I just need to take the parts I know will work for me and keep exercising and drinking water. good luck when it arrives. I am excited for you!:carrot:

Today is day six and I'll get on the scale Thursday morning.:p I feel much better and stronger somehow.
Not physically but maybe a better word would be I have "more resolve" .....more faith in myself and in actually doing something good for myself this year.

Right now any motivation that a person can use getting them through the first "life-changing" steps should be grabbed and I'm grabbing all I can!!!

I hope my NS comes today! But I'll still continue on as I've been doing regardless and will continue to read the book Calorie Queens and TOPS. I'm just hoping it is a good group and I like it.

It's been over a week since I last posted, and I'm glad to see that we've gained a few more people.:D Well, I'm starting week four and as you can see by my signature, I'm down 11lbs. as of Sunday. :carrot: I delayed my next deliver by a week, because I haven't been strictly following the plan on the weekends. Still haven't been able to consistently exercise either :( Guess I got to get my lazy @$$ off the couch in the evenings :o My pants are starting to fit better again though, and that makes me happy! Keep up the great work everyone, and you'll hear from me again soon!

Rose of Sharon- Exercise was the hardest thing for me, hands down. But, I have found something that I love- water aerobics, and I have a buddy that I go with, and we help keep each other motivated. We agreed to never let the other back out. So, when I don't feel like going, she makes me, and when she doesn't feel like going, I make her! But even starting slow- walk for ten minutes. Walk for five minutes! Start somewhere, and try to do something every day. On Sunday, I did a lot of cleaning, including scrubbing floors, and I counted that as my exercise for the day- hey, I broke a sweat, and it's hard scrubbing floors!

oh boy do I understand 100% of what you wrote. I'm not exercising any yet but I know I need too. I have the tae bo DVD and a treadmill plus some free weights, I'm hoping I can get myself into them soon and begin a routine.

I guess how I was able to motivate myself to finally start exercising was with three facts:

1. Calories burned equals pounds lost. Indesputable fact. Exercise burns more calories, and results in quicker weight loss than without exercise.

2. Exercise builds muscle which will help with long term weight control. Muscle burns more calories than fat. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn, the easier it is to maintain. This is so important to me because I have quite possibly lost and then re-gained 500 pounds in the last ten years.

3. Exercise improves cardiovascular health and reduces health problems. I like my life. I want to stick around as long as I can. I do not want to die early because I can't get off the couch.

It was really hard to actually start. I am a big girl, and I am very self conscious of my body- getting in a bathing suit every day is not my idea of a good time. BUT, I do it. I don't make it optional for myself anymore. I was robbing myself of a good life, and robbing my family and my husband of the best part of me- the fun, fit and happy me. I want that part of me back. I just got sick and tired of being fat, and I decided to do something about it. I have a treadmill at my house, and I have probably 20 work out videos, but I don't do them. I paid for a Curves mebership for fifteen months and only went 32 times! I guess I just finally hit rock bottom to where nothing else on this earth is more important than being healthy. Now, I love going to my WA class- I look forward to it every day- not to getting in a bathing suit, but to how I feel when I am done. Not many things feel better than knowing that I have just finished a good workout, and that every day I am getting closer to my goal of being fit and happy.

sounds like hitting rock bottom as you put it was a wake up call, I know I needed one to get me in gear and I just hope I can stay in gear. I do hope to get the rest of me in gear exercise wise, I'm taking this one step at a time. I know I have many months to diet, and I know if I overwhelm myself I'll go down the tubes.

It sounds like you are really motivated and I'm so glad for you! I know what it takes in me to get to a place where I can do something. Geez, I hate getting into a bathing suit, always have and probably always will no matter what I weigh, but that is just me.

I know what you guys mean, getting into a bathing suit is something I've avoided for years! Even trying one on makes me break out in a sweat! ;) Along with that, trying on clothes in general has lost all its charm for me over the past few years. Although, it hasn't stopped me from shopping :D

The exercise thing is really tough for me. My hubby and I are moving in about a month to a nice rural neighborhood and our plan is to start walking the circle we'll live on (1.5 miles around once). The neighborhood we live in now is not conducive to walking, not without a can of mace! :eek: I've been doing yoga for weight loss sporadically over the past few weeks, but can't get into the groove. I'm up at 5AM every morning, at work by 6:30 and get home around 4PM. Last night, I got home, changed clothes, plopped on the couch and read till about 7:00, fell asleep, woke up at 10:30 and went to bed. I've got sleep apnea, so that makes me tired all the time. But bad me, I won't wear the CPAP machine I have (HATE IT!). So I'm taking one day at a time.

After reading all these posts, I hope I can lose on this plan without a lot of exercise. I am so very limited in what I can do now. What do you girls think? you've been on the NS plan a lot longer than me. Any suggestions?

What do you mean by limited- physically or finacially?

If it's physical, I can relate- I have a bad knee that gives me all sorts of problems. But, I can do water aerobics, and that's what I do. Maybe when I get lighter it will be easier, but right now that's about it. Everything else is too painful. I have a sister who is disabled and in a wheelchair, and she does "chair aerobics" which are basically seated workouts. She has two tapes by Jodi Stolove, and she really likes them. She does them sitting in her wheelchair, but you can do them sitting in any chair if you have problems with your back or legs, as long as you can sit and move your arms and legs, you can do this.

If it's financial, all I can say is that it is free to walk, and you can walk just about anywhere. When my sister was pregnant we would go and walk at the mall because she has asthma, and being outside bothered her, but she was fine in airconditioning. Most cities have public parks and walking/biking trails that are always nice.

Sharon, I understand on your sleep apnea, my husband has that too, and he hated the mask but would wear it and then take it off after about 4 or 5 hours. Then he went away on a trip for 5 days and didn't take it with him at all. Lo and Behold he was so tired that he realized the extra oxygen he was getting during his sleep made a big difference. He started sleeping with it every night and he feels so much better. That was about 4 years ago. We take it every where we go now because of the difference in his energy. He was very over weight, by about 40 pounds. When he started using the machine he started having more energy, not being so tired and he started eating less and lost weight.

I blew my plan yesterday. I was going to start working out with free weights working with my arms. Instead I cleaned house. so I'm going to try and get it worked into my plan today, me thinks there is a resistance to change factor in me!

Riz~ Yes I have Muscular Dystrophy and am in a wheelchair. Thanks for the name of those tapes. I made a call to the MDA clinic and will ask about them when they call. This disorder has progressed so much that I can only do stretching now. Arms are pretty weak too.... but I will google those tapes today and check them out. Thanks.:D

The Ns Book I Borrowed From The Lending Library Was Great And If I Was Doing The Diet Without The Food I Would Buy It For Ideas And Recipes. But For Now I Am Staying With The Ordered Food. LOTS OF LUCK AND I'LL SEND GOOD SCALE VIBES YOUR WAY!!! O CHEATING!!

I Feel Great And Think This Is The Best Thing I Have Done For Myself In A Very Long Time. Plus It Gives Me Time Out Of The Kitchen.

I did eat the breakfast and lunch. I started with the pancakes and added sugar free syrup. They were very nice. Then I had the chicken and pasta in a sauce for lunch. It was also good. I added fruit and snacks to it. I knew I wouldn't make the dinner meal because we were going out. I still stayed within my calories so I'm not unhappy about it. I like the meals so far and can see how easy it is.

I hope your weekend went well. Stepped on the scale Sunday and I'm down 2lbs. So that's a total of 13lbs. in 4 weeks. I can't say I'm totally enjoying the NS food. I've found my "favorites" and have adjusted my next shipment. I do have leftovers from this one, but I think I'll save them as a last resort. Hubby and I went out to a BBQ place for dinner on Saturday night, I was surprised of how much I couldn't eat! I use to clean a plate of BBQ with no problem! :D Anyway, Quiltmama hope you had a good weekend and are finding the NS to your liking. It is convenient and I to love the portion control. Sometimes though, the only thing that saves the meal is the salad or fruit! :dizzy: Rizz, Melody keep up the good work! I am thinking of giving up the NS and just counting calories or I may go another month, I haven't decided yet. You'll hear from me again soon.

Well I can say one thing for it, it is convient, but I'm beginning to feel that I can cook low-calorie and low-fat on my own and just count the calories. I think the weight I will lose and/or can lose will be about the same. Some of the dinner meals are fairly high in calories and that is before you add the salad and vegtables. So really all there is left is a meat. I'm pretty simple where that is concerned so baked chicken or fish is fine with me so I think it does equal lesser. The ones I don't eat for my week I will keep as fill in when I'm bored or just can't bring myself to cook.

I like the food, that is not my issue but now there is so much out there that is low calorie. I've eaten the food bars, and besides being high in calories, I prefere the taste of the Adkins bars. Now this is just me because I've gotten to like them. I'm sure I will down the road as time goes on order more because they are great fill ins for me. I just can't see myself eating them through out this diet. I don't consider counting calories a hassle because I consider it an education to what my portion sizes need to be, and the counting calories helps me know when to say no. I think the program is great thought and my cousin has done wonderful on it, where nothing else has helped her. I guess we all have out methods that work best with our personality and we are lucky that we have some great choices to help us along this jouney.

I am feeling much better in my stomach with this plan. More energy too. I had a soda today at the Mall and feel like crap right at this moment though!! :lol3: don't think I will be doing that any time soon!! Happy Monday everyone and hope our week is ON PLAN no matter which plan we use!!

Not bad and it's the 28 day plan also. I'll make a decision at the end of April. let me know how the counting calories thing goes if you try it. Have you been to the Jazzman's website with all the recipes they have for people doing NS plan and cooking for themselves? Great info on that site!!

I think that is one of the best things about Nutrisystem, easy on the kitchen and planning. I think this is a must for folks who work or have kids at home, they have no time to make any plans for themselves. I'm fitting in my NS package here and there, in fact it will come in very handy this week when we do a changing of the guards with my father in the hospital. I'll take all my NS meals with me for 2.5 days and just toss some fruit in. I'll really be depending on it then to keep me on track. My dad has been in the hospital since last week and he just can not be trusted to behave unless some one is there with him. My husband, god bless his soul is over there staying for two days and then I'll take over late Wed until Friday or Saturday. I may be hopping a plane to anywhere after there, LOL.

Yesterday was not a NS day. We celebrated my BD with some Spamish cuisine but no cake! :dance: Today it's back on plan. :ebike:

Congrats to everybody and Thanks for you good vibes and thoughts. I am dreading being the "keeper" for my dad only because he acts so unreasonable, worst than a two year old on a major sugar high! But I'm trying hard to plan and organize my meals so for the 2 to 3 days I'm there everything will stay on track. I went to my TOPS meeting last night and for some unbelievable reason I'd lost 4.75 lbs this weekly weigh in. So I'm happy about that.

Hello ladies! Some of you may remember me (the "seasoned" chicks). Too much to tell why I have been gone, but alas, I am back and ready to harass yet again. (((evil laugh))).

Jussst kiddin. Anyway. The Hub and I got our box o' food stuffs from Nutrisystem today and plan on starting next Monday. Those of you that remember me know that I had trouble dieting when my Hub didn't. So now, it is both of us!!!!:carrot: Why did we decide this plan, well we figure we might take this more seriously if we have 'invested' in it. We have something more than weight to lose if this does not work. Also, we figure it will give us a month of learning what is necessary to eat right. (as we have been living the fast food dream lately).

It would be wunderbar if your lovelys could tell me what you are liking/disliking about this plan. We are excited and yet afraid all this food is going to taste like doodie.

It is great to see all of you again as well as meeting the newbies or last monthies or last yearlies... ;)

so far so good, of course it's early! I'm so glad I don't have to measure or count points. what a relief. After reading this site's review I was a little discouraged but then I remembered I'm not a picky eater, I eat just about anything that doesn't move.

I'm back, and it was rough. But I'm happy to say, having my food planned out helped a lot.
RubensMuse, glad you are here, but sorry for the reason you had to be here. The hubs is with you this time in dieting, that's good for built in support, but keep in mind he is going to lose faster no matter what. I'm sure you know all about this.

On the food, I don't think you will find any of them bad, you may perfer one over the other. The best thing is no tracking, weighing, or wondering, it is like choosing from a restaurant menu. I just got the one week supply, and I didn't get to make any choices in what I was shipped, but you can't beat it. I wouldn't say I was a picky eater but some things I just don't like and that will be the same for everybody. I'd rather eat a potato then pasta or rice and I'd rather eat chicken and fish versus beef. It is hard for me to figure out where this came from, I grew up in a southern family and that might explain the potato thing, but not the beef thing. But I just go oh well and move on with it. I don't hate beef, I'd just perfer chicken or fish. The girls told me about a site that has things you can jazz up the meals with. At this point I'm not jazzing as I want to taste each one and really determine if this is a meal I can deal with or need to make different choice in later.

I think it is all a learning process about food and ourselves. Meals are not my big problem, snacks and portions are for me. I cook good foods but it is all of the other things that put me overweight.

I can say this, the dessert bar Chocolate Graham is to die for.

It is teaching me alot about portion control and how important veggies and fruits are in our diet. Gee you would think at my age I would already know that; but guess I just chose to forget it.

I read the review here on 3 Fats Chicks and wasn't impressed at all. I don't think Nutrisystem was given a chance and that the person who wrote the review was biased. She never added any vegetables except salad and also drank milk instead - no wonder she was hungry. If you follow the plan you will lose weight.

Everyone needs to understand that all diets aren't for everyone - we each need to find what works best for us. Nutrisystem is great for me; but may not be for everyone. Good luck to everyone in your weight loss journey

Another reason she could have been hungry is just the difference in how a person was eating versus how they eat on NS. If a person weighs 248 pounds they are more than likely consuming 2,976 calories a day to maintain that weight (12 x 248) So all of a sudden they are on a diet like NS, and I think it is geared to 1400 or 1600 Calories a day, which by doing NS you don't have to worry about because they did it all for you. That ia a big difference in calories consumed which also equals a lot less food.

I think it boils down to how serious they are about losing weight. There are going to be some scarifices. If there wasn't, then we wouldn't have gained the weight in the first place.

I can't say for others but I can say for myself, I've earned every pound that I'm over weight. I own them! I ate too big a portion at all meals, I ate high calories and fatting foods versus healthier foods, one example a couple of pop tarts as a snack versus a fruit. Not one cookier or even 2, I ate about the 12 or the bag. Yep girls, I'm admitting, I own those pounds, but when I lose my weight I'm gonna own that too.

I'm not going to waste time arguing over this plan or that plan. It is what ever works for each person. And any combination there of! As long as they want to lose and they are losing and they are being honest with themselves about what they eat.

I'm not even going to try and lie to myself, I took a serious look and I knew I did it. Ok I can undo, there are a lot of ways to do, some super easy and they will take longer, and some a bit harder but you lose faster.

What ever works!

Thanks so much for all the feedback. We start on Monday as we find starting anything on a work week is easier as we are less inclined to indulge. Is anyone in here on the QVC version where you have weekends off?? I bought straight from NS and saw a big cost difference with QVC but I wonder if it is truly the same?

On a sad note, I was an idiot and jumped on the scale, just to see what damage I have done to myself over this past stressful year. I almost pooed myself from grief. Good gawd, I am a heifer. Up a full 11 pounds and that os only 10 pounds from my highest weight. I will admit I ate my share of Cadbury Cream eggs, Ferrer Roche and Reeses over that time though. I actually think for the first time in my life I have fat ankles.

On a happy note. We recently moved into a small apartment to save money to buy a home at the end of the year and it is a block from a beautiful park with a mile long walk around the lakes. Guess where I will be going for walks! Also, I am taking a long-lost piece of exercise equipment out of storage and will use the thing if it kills me. I think the majority of the weight gain is from pure non-exercise and a billion calories a day.

So these next few days I am going to use that time for preparation. I LOVE that the meals are done already. I used to say "of course those famous people can lose weight so easy as they can afford personal chefs" Well I have an NS Chef now so all I have to do is exercise.

1. I will take the next few days to make a schedule for exercise.
2. I will take the next few days to prepare myself mentally for success.
3. I will take the next few days to create a journal so that I can reread and make adjustments in any negative thinking.
4. I will log into this Forum at least 3 days a week to encourge my Sister Chicks and to keep focused.
5. I will encourge my husband and help him succeed, but if he fails to be accountable for his own actions, I will not let ME fail this time.

Ok ladies if you wish to post your goals as well, that would be awesome. We could call ourselves the NutriSisters ..heheh

I am getting the 28 day International package. All total it was $270.52 and has the same foods as I see in the ala carte section. We don't get the bears though. I also see there is a program there where you can choose your products now...ala carte. I did a lot of research before I decided on this plan. I chose the 28 day because I did NOT want weekends off. Quilt & Deb & Talula~ I myself am loving this plan but agree not all plans are for everyone. I have not read any reviews here so cannot comment but I will say this plan is a definite no-brainer. The math is all done and the food is good. It's a great way for me to get into the habit of smaller and reasonable portions. I am never hungry and eat everything I am supposed to. I am having cravings from time to time till I can figure out what is triggering them. (coffee and SF yogurt so far) I try not to read anything negative on the NS site either. But I respect their right to express their opinions. For myself, I want and most of all NEED this to work. If I don't get this weight off I stand clearly to pay the consequences in the not too distant future. So having said that, I will delight myself with every mouthful and hopefully laugh each week as I weigh-in:D Did I mention before that my 2nd order arrived!!! I was doing a happy dance all day! :dance:

4~ I will continue to exercise every day and do my breathing exercises as well
5~ I really MUST get rid of the coffee (because of my face)

I feel better already with written goals. I am already journaling and exercising (with LindaT's group).

It's very sad IMO. She didn't eat all of the food she was supposed to eat or she wouldn't have been hungry. She's a very picky eater and she never once checked online BBs (NS, Jazz's, etc.) for ideas on how to spice up her meals or combine foods. She ate meals at the wrongs times or didn't pay attention to what the item was... I could go on, but I'll let you read it! :p

Well I'm finally read the review, but that is only one person's opinion. There is always a balance indiduals must work for, between their goals and preferences. I think it would have been fair since she was doing a review to even choose things that were "out side of box of normal" in example, prepackaged eggs. Because I hate to remind her that is what our soilders over in Iraq are eating and most of them think the meals are pretty good.

I hope most folks will ignore her review and try it for themselves. I did only a week on nutrisystem myself, but I had my own reasons. What NS has to offer is really great, but it just might not be the plan for everybody, some folks won't like the cost or be able to afford it, espically if they still have to buy food for others in their household. Some will not be able to handle the food by itself. Others may just be looking for a good excuse to toss the diet.

For those individuals, NS isn't the problem, but themselves. The others will go on and find a successful way that works with their life style and lose their weight.

I was a little discouraged this morning. I woke up feeling "fat" and the scale went up 1 lb. :faint: I hope it leaves as quickly as it came!! :rofl: Very gloomy weather out there today so maybe some closet "spring cleaning" is a good place to start!! Take a look at some of my clothes and see if they need tossing.

'The Review": I feel it is the right of the author to say what she feels and thinks. Many times a negative review has saved me money and pain also. I take everyone's info and process it in my own head and make my own decisions. If negative reviews were always successful then I would have never gone to Michael Thurmond's plan where I lost my first 30 lbs. We live in an outspoken society and I for one am glad we have freedom of speech. I am disabled and in a wheelchair and without "speech" there would never have been any ramps installed in this world. Before we became vocal, we stayed in our houses where people though we belonged. So maybe I am biased to free speech! :rofl:
We cannot have it both ways and put gags on some mouths if we don't like what they say.
So I say....ce la vie!

too true Melody, I think anyone who reads it and is looking for a program to help them will see the advantages NS has to offer. There are many advantages offered in the NS program, and they far out weigh the disadvantages. There are always going to be disadvnatages to any program because of our own personal perferences. So I'm glad we all have a choice and can have the opportunity to find something that suits each of us. I personally perfer to work using bits and pieces "the best advantages" of any and all program. Yes some programs you must adhere strickly to them to work, but for me using some of the NS foods to keep me on track some days based on what is going on in my life, and cooking my own foods some days and just counting the calories works.

I'm not going to be proud, I'm going to take what ever opportunity comes my way to help me. The days I'm driving to my home town to spend days and time with my very alcoholic, diabetic, sick father, I pack NS. It keeps my sanity! Those are the days, that I don't need to worry about food, just follow the plan. the main goal is to keep on track and keep on losing!

OK so I have to put my two cents in on this review.

I read it and still don't care. I am going to try the plan and see how it works for ME. It was my OPINION and MY perception that perhaps she was not really 'into' the plan or had different expectations. Perhaps she likes cooking for herself and did not like that her options were limited. Whatever the reason she decided that plan was not for HER and is irrelavent to what another may decide. True, that like Mel, I like to gather information on sources prior to making a choice, however, I still make that choice based on my own situation, feelings, etc.

So my summary....
1. Remain positive.
2. Remain willing to try hard on ANY plan.
3. Deem what is positive in any information rendered and make YOUR OWN choice.

Personally, I am hopeful about this program, but I have chosen not to raise my expectations too high that I fail in my efforts to lose weight all together. If this plan proves not to be for me, then I can still say I tried it and find another option.

Ok that is all :)

Of course she can say what she thinks, but to me she crossed the line when she said that you would have to have comatose tastebuds to like the food. I found that insulting. She could say she didn't like the food without making scathing remarks about people who do.

Also, it's a review that's published right on the front page of this site, making it an official non-endorsement for the plan. If you're going to review a diet plan in order to write an article about it, don't you have the responsibility to follow the plan correctly? Not just skip over the vegetables you don't want to eat, or interpret the "dairy/protein" serving to mean solely 8 oz. of skim milk, then complain about being hungry.

I said this in the other thread, but I've been on NS for about 2 months now and I've never resorted to MacDonalds or any sort of fast food binge, not once. I just don't think the reviewer tried very hard in the interests of adding a little comedy to her writing. I am positive she experienced what she wrote, but to make it the diet plan's fault that she went to MacDonalds or had a "greek feast" with her family is juvenile. She wasn't committed, so she cheated. Not NS's fault in my opinion.

Also, there's this prevailing attitude in the review that if a diet plan isn't completely and totally attractive, you won't be able to stick to it because you'll fall off the wagon the first time you hit a bump in the road. Don't we all need to stop this way of thinking and take responsibility for our weight loss? NS will not work if you don't get in the required amounts of water, vegetables, and fruit. If messing up the plan results in you feasting on an extra 2000 calories, that's your fault, not NutriSystem's.

I've lost 26 pounds since I started Nutrisystem mid-January. I've reduced my diabetes medications by about 1/3, and I've been able to start exercising again. It's literally been a lifesaver for me, and I think the system deserved an unbiased review.

Edit: I'm also wondering if the reason the review turned out the way it did is at all related to the fact that 3FC is coming out with their own book soon.

I agree 110%. I thought the review was biased, unfair, and almost deceptive since the diet was not followed correctly. How can you honestly and accurately critique a diet plan when you are NOT FOLLOWING THE DIET???? Yes, she has the right to her opinion, but on a site like this, we are trusting that the person who is writing a review will be impartial and follow the plan. I was so disappointed to hear things like McDonalds, Baklava, and Lean Cuisine, and I hope that they do not let her review any other diet plans! If she can't go seven days on a diet plan, they need to find someone who can!

I have been on NS now for 10 weeks, and have lost 35 pounds, and have loved the program. I am now doing what they call "NutriSystem without the food" because I cannot tolerate the soy with my thyroid medication, but I am still following the NS plan, and still loving it :D

OK....that was not so bad!!!!
I am not used to eating that often, so that will be an adjustment, but I am sure I will work that out.

Water is ok but still need to drink more.

Overall, I found the food pretty good and so did The Hub.

Anyone reading this, please respect that the following is my opinion and experience ONLY.

Lemon Poppy muffins (a little dry but tasted fine, like a fat-free muffin).
Cut up pear
Soy milk
....for someone who rarely eats breakfast, that was very filling

Chicken Noodle Soup (very nice actually, I usually do not eat canned soup due to the heavy salt, this was just right..I wanted more:)
Small salad w/dressing and Hardboiled egg

Lasagna in meatsauce (yes a little Chef'Boyrdee'ish, but tasty)
Salad w/ tomato and carrots Balsamic dressing
...I am stufffed!

Dessert: no there yet

We both kept right on track today, even when we revisited the grocery store for more fresh stuff (our farmers are awesome here, it is worth the every other day shopping). Though, I did not get hunger pains, The Hub did. He is adding his extra carbs too, so that may just be another adjustment that will correct over some time. I told him to up his salads instead of the small one he made and I don't think he ate enough fruit. But this is only day one too.

I will post my starting weight stats. I have not measured yet, but plan on doing that tonight too. Exercise starts tomorrow night as I gotta get some good walking shoes! then off to the park!! whoohooo.

Ruben~ I came back tonite to see how you did today. I was out all day and then had stuff to do but was dying to see your first post. Maybe the DH can add some extra veggies into the salad. There are so many to choose from. sounds like you had a great day though. I find some stuff a bit chef boyareeish but palatable enough for me to have ordered my second month!! lol I am loving the ease of this plan. I really like the "grab and eat" philosophy. My DD comes down to check out what things smell like and look like.(she is skinny but curious!!!LOL) We've been impressed with the dinners especially and I love the "cup" lunches!!! good luck this week and I hope my scale moves this week even though I cheated on my birthday.

Riz and Sock~ Hello! I have seen worse endorsements for NS and heard many negative tales but it didn't deter me or the thousand of people like me that ordered from QVC alone this year. You should have read the reviews for Provida & Michael Thurmond's 6DBMO (of TV'S Loser and infomercial fame) on 2003 on all the websites... but I followed it and lost 30 lbs in less than 9 months with almost no exercise. So as I each his/her own. No sense getting riled up over it....a terrible waste of NS energy! :cheer:

I stand by her right to say what she wants or anyone else's rights for that matter....including yours. :)

:dance: I had to weigh-In for my nutritionist (my own not NS) and I was 178! I lost a total of 4.5 lbs now. I only called to make another appt. and she got on the phone and asked me to weigh myself if I could while she held on. This absolutely made my day. I've been a little depressed with the weather, trouble with one of my chairs (my favorite one too) and aches and pains but feel GREAT NOW!:belly: Spring cannot be far away!:D

Ok food choices today...

OK I do have an issue here.
I just cannot do the eggs. I found they had a funny mouth-feel and the smoke flavor just threw me I had the Shredded Wheat that were very good. Fruit and soy milk.

I tried the Sloppy Joe and that was not bad at all. A little different in the texture than I expected, but the taste was overall fine.
Salad with hardboiled egg

Snack was soy milk and fruit

The Chicken Noodles and Gravy which was pretty tasty. I really like that this stuff does not taste salty.
Salad with tomato, carrots and 2 olives

I am full.

I think I will do pudding for dessert though.

Overall, a good day and I am pleased with how this diet is working. It can't get more convenient than this! So far the only thing that I have not liked are the eggs. Also, I picked me up some vitamins and a supplement for fat burning. I tried the fat burner today and that stuff really gives you energy, but not the jittery kind! After a day or two and all is fine with it, I will give you all an update on it. It was recommended to me by someone who lost over 100lbs using it ALONE, no dieting. So who knows.

Gotta go for our walk now!!!

Ruben here is a good idea for the pancake mix. I have had it many times with DF Mrs. Butterworth on top. But I left out the Splenda and the ICBINB Spray. I also made it with peach apple sauce. I use natural and not sugar-free. I am supposed to avoid some of those chemicals. LOL
but this was delicious. My DD made it with regular pancake mix....a bit less than 1/2 cup. I was just turning the pc off when I heard the mail sound. Glad the day was a good one. Most people cook the eggs with peppers and onions in a frypan. I like them in the micro....go figure! LOL

Paul's Apple Bundt Cake

= 1 Breakfast Entrée / 1 Fruit Serving / 1 Dairy/Protein Serving / Free Foods


1 package of NutriSystem Pancake Mix
1 egg
½ cup of unsweetened applesauce
¼ tsp. vanilla
¼ tsp. cinnamon
3 packages Splenda® (or sweetener equal to 1 Tbsp. of sugar)
12 squirts I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray(ICBINB)
2 Tbsp. any calorie-free/sugarfree maple syrup


1. Place pancake mix, cinnamon and sweetener in a large microwave safe bowl and mix; add egg, applesauce, and vanilla and stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well mixed.
2. Leave in bowl and place in microwave. Cook in microwave on high for 3 minutes (longer if necessary). Finished product should resemble a small individual bundt cake (depending on dimensions of bowl used) and be moist with the texture of a sponge cake.
3. Turn upside down onto serving plate and spray with 12 squirts of ICBINB spray, and drizzle with syrup.

Thanks for the ideas for the eggs. I'll try the regular ones in the pan and see if that works. I really think it was just the smoke "thing" that threw me off. The smell started it. MY opinion is that smoke and eggs just don't seem to go together.

Alas, I am definately going to go for the bundt cake though!!! Yummy breakfast here I come! And I will feel like I am cheating!!! :D
I bet the hubby will like that too. We have the peach and granny smith applesauce, so we could try both. :dizzy:

Now for a wierd/gross question. Any of you having 'potty' issues? I am going like 4 times a day, whereas I typically go twice. Just wondering if this is typical or not. Call me freaky for asking but I was raised by medical people and that is just one of those things they taught me to pay attention too.

Yes I had an interesting childhood.

I had my pudding for dessert and that was yummy!!!! I really liked that!

Yes, I had "potty" issues for the first week or two, but now everything is back to normal. For me, I think it was a switch to a much higher fiber diet than I had been eating, but who knows.

Good point Riz...forgot about the fiber difference. Somehow I doubt Wendy's and Long John Silvers has that much fiber. ;)

If any of you ladies get a chance to try Mel's Bundt cake recipe, go for it!! Me and The Hub had it this morning and by george I feel like an oinker! It is seriously filling, very tasty and hard to believe it is within the guidlines. Even The Hub said "we can't eat all that, like half right?" I said no we get to eat those whole thing. A little more than half way through we were getting stuffed and had to really work to get those last bites in.

It is so wierd to think that even just a week ago me and The Hub could plow our way through the BBQ All-You-Can-Eat buffet with no problems, and today I can't manage more than half a 'pancake' bundt cake. Sheesh, before NS you could have given me a full Entemans bundt and it would have been history, crumbs left for the pups.

So far ladies, I have to say I like this plan alot. :carrot:

Do any of you ladies have suggestions on getting through the weekend with relatives coming? Eating out suggestions??? Alot of our local restaurants have Weight Watcher stuff on their menus now, would those work??
Any ideas would be wonderbar!!!!

I recently noticed that the peel-off strip of my pantiliner had a bunch of
"Kotex Tips for Life" on it. Annoying advice such as:

-Staying active during your period can relieve cramps.
-Avoiding caffeine may help reduce cramps and headaches.
-Drink 6-8 glasses of water a day to keep you hydrated and feeling fresh.
-Try Kotex blah blah blah other products

Obviously the person behind this was someone who has never possessed
a functioning set of ovaries.

Go ahead and tell a menstruating woman TO HER FACE that drinking 6-8
glasses of water will help keep her feeling fresh. See what happens and report back. I'll wait.

While you're at it, dump out the coffee at work and remove the chocolate
from the vending machine. I guarandangtee that the first responders will be
females who just ovulated.

Look, females don't need or want tips for living on feminine hygiene products. Younger girls are already hearing "helpful" crap like that from their elderly relatives. Veteran females have already concocted their own recipes for survival, many containing alcohol.

Printing out crap advice while sneaking in ads for the brand THAT WAS
ALREADY PURCHASED is just plain annoying, not to mention rude and enough to send a girl running to the Always brand.

Mostly we'd like to forget that we even need these products. It's not a fun
time, but DO NOT try to cheer us up by adding smiley faces or bunnies or flowery cutesy crap to your products or the packaging. Put the thing in a plain brown wrapper so we can throw it in our carts discreetly and have it blend in among the wine and beer. There is nothing more annoying than having a blinding pink package announcing your uterine state to everyone in the store.

The ultimate goal of your product should be functional invisibility at every
stage, including at the point of purchase.

So take your tips for living and shove them right up your rear. (Try
drinking six to eight glasses of water to make yourself feel fresher while you're doing it!)

for some odd reason I couldn't get to page 5 so I just tried again and got it.

Riz and Ruben~ With other plans I used to have to opposite problem!! But I had the same experience as Riz and now after almost 3 weeks all is well. Funny how different plans cause different reactions.
I love the pancakes too and found it on the NS bulletin board and again on another. I get stuffed every time I eat it and couldn't believe we could have the whole thing!!
My DD and her BF love them. Stir it up in the bowl nuke and eat. What could be easier! :rofl:
I'm off again!! OH...My weigh in is on Friday!

Man Day 3 is down and feeling pretty good, other than my , uh, er, "bum issues". Is it just me or are these meals feeling big? Dinner just stuffs me.
Speaking of, todays foods were:

Mel's awesome bundt cake

Beef and Pasta (i love the chili part of this)
Hardboiled egg

Salisbury Steak with mushroom gravy
Carrots and Beans
I could not do the salad I was just stuffed.

Might be the Caramel Bar

I was good on my water today, not great but good. We did a little over a mile walk and it was a brisk one cause my "bum issue" kicked in mid way. Overweight or not, I moved QUICK ladies, let me tell you. :scooter:

OK well I am tired and satisfied! Thank NS for helping me feel successful! and thank YOU Nutrichicks for being inspiring :) :hug:

Off to walk the pups, then shower then beddy bye.

Sharing some recipes I found: This first one is really really wonderbar!!!

Your fruit for the day is strawberries and your dessert in the evening is chocolate decadence bar......Melt the chocolate bar in the micro for 20 to 30 secs. Stir, add a dash of vanilla extract or flavor of choice and


Tomato Basil pizza. A freshing and healthy fixup for the box pizza that comes with the diet. Which is seriously boring

3 or 4 fresh basil leaves
2 fresh garlic cloves
1 fresh tomato

Chop the garlic and place it on the sauce before adding the cheese.Chop the basil and add it on top of the cheese.Slice the tomato into three or four thin slices, and place them on top, nicely arranged.Bake it until the cheese just begins to brown.

If any of you try these let me know if you like them and I can find more!!!

I am going to do the strawberry thing tonite and the pizza tomorrow. I can hardly wait cause I left a fruit for tonite and I have strawberries left. Are these from Jazzman's?
I had a great day but too much "work" and a bit hectic.

Anyway, as for today, I had a good day. My NS counseler called me to see how I was doing and gave me ANOTHER awesome idea for a dessert. How does a rootbeer float sound???? Well, take your 2tbs of fat-free whipped cream and put into a diet rootbeer! I can't wait to try this one!

Food wise, I did real well and got 80% of my water in. Each day I try to add more. I pretty much liked everything I tried today. The Hub was a different story.

He had the chicken salad and was not able to finish it. I did not try it though, so I cannot say that for myself. But now we are both scared to try the tuna.

Exercize: I walked 2 miles tonight!! I picked up another miles actually taking the wrong way through a neighborhood. hehehe.

Well I am off to watch American Inventor. Have a happy!!!

Ruben~ yesterday was nuts and I did have some typical Irish treats but today should be a NS day!! LOL
I will send you the link to the other site in an e-mail. Some links aren't allowed here cause they start spam up. It's a bunch of people on NS with and w/o the food. Some care to cook for themselves. Tuna fish scares me no matter who makes it!! LOL But I have read where people add their own water packed tuna and FF mayo to it to stretch it....also onions etc. Good luck!
It's been a crazy week down in the office area and I was glad to be able to come up here and just nuke everything!!

I am sorry to admit that yesterday was totally off plan. :crazy: I haven't even got a good excuse!! :rofl:
I don't do Holiday well at all. the portions were ok but the choices were not great. So St. Patty's day lasted 2 days.
Well I read on the NS Daily Dose that this is as good a day as any for restarting and refreshing my goals. thank God for Sundays!! Have a great day and hope the week is a good one! Mine will be as all the leftovers are in the trash chute!!! :lol3:

Well Mel please don't feel bad dearest, yesterday was awful for me. A hideous diet day. Yes it was so bad you ladies may have had to launch an intervention!

It started with a NS breakfast. Then (as my mom was visiting) we went into town to shop a little. At noon we were both starving so we went to this restaurant figuring we could find something acceptable. Well, the menu was not very flexible so I opted for the burger, no fries, and then I just ate the patty. Instead of fries I had raw brocolli. Ok that is not too bad right?

Well, we were still out at dinnertime when we met up with The Hub and my dad. Long stroy short, I ended up eating another chopped burger patty.

Still, not too awful you say??? I have only just begun.

Pull up a seat my darlings and observe my shame....:o

Here is the setting....a hotel room....4 persons sitting around a table playing an aggressive game of canasta....and the devil is a snack bag...

Well I will have to do alot of :ebike: to make up for that hoarding. I will try 3 miles tonight. I MUST behave myself and learn to resist.

Jazzman is the best NS support site on the web!

There are TONS of recipes and ideas for meals, and doctoring up the meals, and meal replacements, as well as several support forums all with people who are either on NS, or maintaining their weight. It's awesome. Once you see this, you will never, ever go back to NS's site!

As far as your little diet "incident", just get back up on the bike and keep pedaling. I don't think it's realistic to expect that we will always have 100% days, but we need to look at the big picture and not allow one bad day to turn into a bad week, and then a bad month and well, you know the rest of that.

Don't worry about you falling off the wagon - As long as you get back on again it's okay. None of us are perfect and we have to realize that we will make mistakes - so long as we don't let it sidetrack us entirely. Hope everyone has a great week.:goodluck:
