So I have a gathering tomorrow with a bunch of ladies from work. I was asked to bring a dessert (dont they know I'm on a diet!! :devil: ) Anyways how bad would it be if I did maybe an angel food cake with toppings like carmel, chocolate, whip cream, strawberries and other goodies?! Of course I would only have a small slice and with strawberries but thought I would bring all the other wonderful stuff for everyone else. Is this a bad idea? Is there a smarter thing I could bring? And how would I count the angel food cake?

jello mold would be great and free food...I'll try to think of more things though

I made angel food cake for my DD's birthday and served it with berries and FF cool whip. It was great. I counted a small slice as a starch, my center said that was fine, since it is so low in fat. You could also cut the cake into big cubes, and layer cake, berries, cool whip, cake, berries, cool whip in a parfait bowl to make it look fancier. I would bet that your coworkers would never guess it is so healthy! My aunt makes a good SF free, but not fat free, dessert. She uses finely chopped walnuts in the bottom of a dish as a crust, then whips FF cream cheese with splenda and a little skim milk to make it the consistency of pudding. She layers the cream cheese, then SF pudding (Vanilla or Chocolate) made with skim milk, and a good layer of FF Cool whip on top, and garnished with more walnuts. Not really sure how to count that though. Maybe D,F,C? Good luck, desserts are so tough!

Thanks for the great ideas!! The recepie your aunt makes sounds amazing however I am allergic to dairy! So a lot of the good stuff I cant have, bummer!! :mad: Shennie thanks for the Jello idea I might do that too. Who doesnt love Jello, right?! :dance:

When I was on WW I used to make a raspberry trifle. All I did was alternate layers of angle food, white chocolate sugar free pudding, raspberries and FF cool whip in that order in a trifle bowl (or any larger glass bowl). I would garnish the top w/ unsweetened cocoa powder. I would use about ½ the angle food cake and 2 boxes of pudding mixed w/ 3 cups of skim milk. I don’t think it would be that horrible in LAWL terms.

How about a big fruit salad? It isn't the best time of year for fresh fruit, but you might be able to get some. Fruit Kabobs can be fun and you can also bring a side of fruit dip made with vanilla yogurt. I just got a good pineapple and believe it or not some decent strawberries for my daughters b day party. Grapes have been good lately, and banannas are easy to come by.

no biggie dawn. I am used to making wonderful things for others and having mine just minus all the good stuff!! I'm used to it and that recepie sounds wonderful. And the fruit kabobs are a fun idea i would have never thought of Lucy! I will have to spend some serious time at the grocery store tomorrow!! Thanks everyone!!

Emmysmom are these in the cookbook? And if so what year is your copywrite? I have the cookbook but I dont think I have most of those!! If you dont mind what is the recepie for the Sparkling Fruited Gelatin? Just the name alone sounds good to me!!

p.s. you ladies are awesome!! Such great ideas! I might have to make desserts more often now!!

These are on the LA at home website...for whoever read my post the other day. The site cost $99, but I am more than happy to share what is on there with you chicks. The site is supposed to have what is in the cookbook plus about 200 new recipes.
Here they are...

Sparkling Fruited Gelatin
Family Fare
2 apples
1/2 cup canned, crushed pineapple, drained
1 tsp lemon juice
10 grapes
1 package sugar-free mixed fruit flavored
gelatin mix
1 cup hot water
6 oz diet ginger ale

Preparation Instructions:
Peel and core apples; cut into thin slices.
Place apple slices in medium bowl. Add
pineapple and lemon juice. Slice grapes in
half and add to fruit mixture. In a
separate bowl, mix gelatin and hot water.
Stir until gelatin is dissolved. Once
dissolved, pour ginger ale into gelatin.
Refrigerate 30 minutes, or until gelatin
mixture is the consistency of raw egg
whites. Add the fruit mixture to gelatin
and fold in gently. Refrigerate until
firm. Serve chilled.

Makes 4 servings

Serving Size:
1 cup
Counts As:
1 Fruit

Lemon Glazed Cheesecake
Family Fare

2- 8oz packages fat-free cream cheese,
3/4 cup Equal Spoonful®
1 Tbsp flour
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp finely grated fresh lemon zest
1/2 cup fat-free sour cream
3 egg whites
1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs

Lemon Glaze
1/3 cup Equal Spoonful®
1 1/2 Tbsp arrowroot or cornstarch
1 1/2 Tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/2 tsp finely grated fresh lemon zest
1/3 cup water
2 cups berries of choice

Preparation Instructions:
Blend first 5 ingredients with electric
mixter. Add in sour cream and egg
whites. Coat 9-inch pie pan with nonfat
cooking spray; press h graham cracker
crumbs, into plate. Pour in cheese
mixture and bake at 325 ° F for 40
minutes. (Do not open oven door while
baking!) Cool to room temperature, then
refrigerate for 3 hours. For glaze, stir
sugar substitute and arrowroot or
cornstarch together in a small saucepan
then add the lemon juice, lemon peel, and
water. Whisk until smooth. Heat in a
small saucepan stirring constantly
over medium flame, until mixture is
clear and thick. Spread evenly over
cheesecake; set at room temperature. Top
with berries. Slice pie into 8
slices. Serve immediately or chill
until ready to use.
Makes 8 Servings

Serving Size:
1 Slice

Counts As:
1 Fruit
1 Starch

Tina - That was so nice of you - I will have to look over that list myself. I might be interested in a few. I actually want to purchase the new cookbook when it comes out - so I'll have something at home to browse through. I don't go to the center, so I can't just go buy it -

What about the peanut butter cookies. I think it's 1 and 1/3 cups of splenda, 1 cup of peanut butter, and one egg. That's right, baby...protein for dessert. These cookies I saw on Paula Deen and they actually taste and bake like real peanut butter cookies.
