Hey all,

Just wanted to give you an update. Two weeks ago I met with my surgeon, Dr. Fred Brody at George Washington Univ. Hosp. in Wash. DC. His assistant call and said that I needed one more month for my physician supervised diet. So, I went to see my primary care doctor today for a weight check and he was suprised to see me because he had a letter from my insurance company approving my lapband surgery. I was so surprised and execited. I got a copy of the letter and faxed it to my surgeon office so now I am waiting for a surgery date. I am so ready to start this new journey.

Hi Hubs,

I am sorry for the delay in posting. I've been without power since Sunday morning. I have to say shoveling snow is great exercise.

Now back to the question at hand. I am both excited and nervous. I guess because I know this is a life changing event and I am scared that I may fail at the second chance that I am getting. So, reading all the threads from all of you wonderful women that have succeeded in their weight loss efforts gives me encouragement and hopefully I can follow in you alls footsteps and succeed myself.

Like I've heard so much lately that this is just as much a mental as it is physical, and that is what I have to work on (positive self-talk). I just figured out that one of my triggers to eating is boredom.

Deb,

Just work the tool and the tool will work!

Boredom eating can still happen after you're banded, but you will definitely eat less food. When you're properly restricted, it will be much, much tougher for you to eat mindlessly. Just follow the simple rules of protein first, veggies next and then whatever else you can fit and you'll be great.

Don't worry - be happy! (everybody sing!)
