I'm having a hard time getting all my veggies in everyday. I am on purple and it says to have 4 a day. I prefer raw veggies but I love cooked green beans!!! Any suggestions?

I know LAWL says no canned veggies but i use the no salt green beans. My grandma is on a low salt diet and she hates frozen and the fresh green beans. So the dietician told her to take a can of the no/low salt canned green beans rinse them in water really really good then put them in a pan and cover with water and cook till water is gone. It has never effected her or me with water weight gain. I usually add chopped/sliced onion and pepper to mine before I cook it down. I sometimes do this with canned carrots too. I add a little brown sugar, butter and some water to them and cook them down. Hope this helps you 30lbsby22.

see here is the COD difference thing. i always eat the no salt added green beans and my COD said it was fine. I eat them at least 2 times a week and since 1 cup is 2 veggies, it works great for me.

I do not recall ever noticing a gain after eating them either. I record my weight each day so I will check my journals to be sure, but when i have a gain I look to see why so I don't belive that it has happened.

also 30lbs, when i am in a crunhc for veggies...1/2 cucumber w/ vinger or morton lite salt or fat free catalina dressing or fat free italian....2 veggies (and i can eat a whole one with no problem)
also 1 celery stick=1 veggie

Why do frozen green beans taste so bad, anyway? I am used to home canned, so I really have to cook the heck out of frozen to get them CLOSER to right...and it still isnt' great. I bought some baby carrots and they help because I can just eat one every time I go by and pretty soon I've gotten a serving in without realizing it.

I have been REALLY having a hard time getting back on track, so I am going to start journaling here to help me...if I am a faithful journaler I always eat better. I didn't eat so well this morning, but I still have a chance to make it work if I try!

Is it true that celery is high in sodium? My center tells me to not eat too much, and I LOVE celery, because it's high in sodium.

this is what i found for celery...so it does have sodium, but i wouldn't say it was alot

Thanks, I think I'm going to disregard the "High Sodium" pitch and eat my celery. For me its an easy way to get in that extra veggie. ;)

There is at least 10 times that amount of sodium in a Luna and it doesn't affect us luna users...plus look at the Potassium in your celery. Potassium is the other ingredient in lite salt and it helps you flush out excess water. The potassium balances out the sodium easily.
It takes more calories to eat raw celery than there actually is in celery. Go for it.

I tried something last night that worked really well (for me).

I added 2 Tbsp salsa to 2 cups frozen green beans. It made them very tolerable! Since I had not used my condiments for the day, it was not an issue at all. I'm so relieved, because I, too, cannot stand the taste of frozen green beans. But this made them somewhat interesting.

Katie, I wanted to mention that even though your DH was a real rude turd yesterday that leftover fish is UGH! I had some leftover one day and it stayed in my fridge until it slimed over...nobody wanted to touch it with a 10 foot pole. You're totally justified in thinking he was a jerk, though!

I notice many of you have a yogurt and fruit or yogurt and a bar for breakfast. I was doing the same thing and constantly getting yelled at for it because it wasn't a "hardy" enough breakfast. What gives?

Seems I can't do anything right on this plan. I noticed they just put out a new plan book in 2006 that only allows CC meals 3x/week instead of daily. So imagine my surprise when I got yelled at for eating too many CC meals and had no idea why! Oh, and then the "unwritten" rule that you can't have a cereal as a starch on the same day you have a CC meal. How the heck am I supposed to know that when it's unwritten?? Ugh.

I am frustrated.

Poor mommy--don't you just hate it when they change the rules in the middle of the game?! First they told me not to eat cottage cheese everyday (love it with pineapple for breakfast--plus it's easy!), then they said to cut out the PB (my favorite!) and they would rather me eat cottage cheese instead--UGH--I said don't give it to me as an option if you are going to take it away! Anyway--I have to admit--it may have worked for me b/c I started losing more when I cut it out. Now I am going to try to add it back once a week and see if it hurts. Maybe now with the new rules the pounds will start dropping!! But I understand the "wasted $$" thought. Give the new plan time though--I bet you can do it.

Repo--is hubby still TOM? LOL--it must be a male gene that they all have to show out every once in a while! After subbing all week I didn't have to on Friday so I said oh yeah--I can finally get a workout in and he says--oh, I thought you were going to say I can get this house clean--NO__NOT what I was going to say!!

Monica, maybe you were having to many carb carver meals. In the six weeks I have been on program I have only had a CC three times and I am losing. I try to stick to plan as best I can. The CC are giving us more starches even though we count them as proteins. I would try a week with out the CC section and see if that helps at all. The portions sizes are way to big on the CC also compared to the quantities we are allowed to eat on the rest of the program. Sorry your so frustrated hopefully things will get better for you and always remember you have all of us here any time you need help or just to talk.

monica, I'm sorry that they ever said it was ok to have CC almost daily. Like Barb said it is pretty big and lots of starches, I try to do it no more than 2 times a week myself and the only constant one I do is Saturday morning pancakes. :D

It sucks to think you can do something and have it taken away. My first book when I started said that a subway chicken sandwich was only 1 starch, not I saw the rest of the sandwiches said 2 starches, but hey why question when you have receivd a free gift. Wehn they finally told me (about 1 month later mind you) that it was a misprint I was so angry because I felt I lost soemthing, so I understand completly, but don't give up you can do it. :carrot:  :carrot:
