Sorry I've been MIA lately. We have friends that haved moved into a new house not far from us (about a mile!) and for the last two weeks we have helped painted, cleaned & moved!!! We are done!! :carrot: It's been really tiring from working & then helping them but we're done and that's what counts. Today I have cleaned & washed ALL DAY trying to get MY house back to normal!
Dee...I know you're out of town but when you check in...I wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! :woo: :woo: I hope you had a WONDERFUL day & a WONDERFUL trip!!!!!! I'll miss you!
Hello to everyone else!! I've got to start dinner now.
Love & Hugs to all...

Sorry, Gayle!! I guess it's Vicki who has the same opinion of her MIL as I do of mine!! You know how confused I get sometimes.
01-30-2006, 09:50 AM
Happy Birthday Dee!!!
Hope You Have A Wonderful Day.
I Finally Got My Appointment With The Rhuematogist, April 10th, It Seems Like A Long Time From Now.
I Guess I Will Just Have To To Put Up With The Swelling Until Then. I Didn't Take My Thyroid Medication All Weekend But It Didn't Make A Difference.
The Good News Is I Have Lost 10 Lbs This Month. Yeah!!!
01-30-2006, 10:30 AM
YIPPPEEEE JANICE! 10 pounds for the month of January....FANTASTIC-O!!!!!!
Keep up the GREAT work! I hope you can find relief soon from the pain. Are they giving you anything to help with the swelling?
No problem Shelley! I know how most MIL's can be, I just lucked out this time! I'm happy to say I have wonderful Mom & Dad inlaws...it's another story with a nutsie SIL!! LOL!
Bev, I hope you were able to get through the weekend ok...did mums try feeding you everything in sight? Up until her heart attack, I could never let my mom know if I was dieting. It was a free ticket to making cakes, brownies etc. and giving them to us! She is doing great with it now though!
Sher, you are a busy little beaver! Take some time for you though before you wear yourself down. Are you working fanfare this year?
I'm up 3 pounds, but I'm sure it is fluid. I did not stay OP over the weekend, but yet I didn't over-eat enough to gain the weight back. I'm back hard core today though and done feeling sorry for myself. Oh yea, the side effects of not staying OP...I feel like crap. My tummy hurts etc. never have this problem when I stay on plan.
01-30-2006, 12:18 PM
:hb: Happy Birthday Dee! :hb:
Sherry ~ You sure have been a busy lady! I'll have to remember to call on you the next time I get the urge to paint!
Shelley ~ You can add me to the list of those who have witches for mother-in-laws. Mine is pure evil!
Janice ~ 10 pounds last month is an awesome loss! Way to go! :carrot: I'm glad you finally got an appointment with the rhuematogist. It does seem like a long time to wait, but April will be here before you know it.
Gayle ~ I'm up a pound this week too, but I expected it after the way I've been eating. Time to get back on track so we can get the scales moving in the right direction again!
01-30-2006, 02:45 PM
Wow--we have so many "new" Floozies!!
Welcome to all the new girls!
Happy Birthday, Dee! I'm sure you're having a great one! Wish I was in PV with you!
Gayle--my mom used to try to feed me, too! The way I finally got her to stop was to have her be the one to take the "before" pictures for one of my many diet attempts. That was 40-50 (less) pounds ago, and I can honestly say that my weight gain (this time) cannot be attributed to her at ALL!
Sherry--great to see you posting here.
Janice, wish I could lose 10 pounds (make that I wish I had the WILLPOWER to lose 10 pounds!) this month!
Suzy--how are things with you?
Shelley--what about you? I know you were going through some tough "diet" times here while back. Has that gotten any better?
01-30-2006, 07:27 PM
Good evening! I everyone had a wonderful weekend. Mine was kinda boring which is just how i like it. I think my huspand and i are turning into old farts. We are in bed watching TV at 8 on a saturday! Eh... who cares. We are well rested. lol. I managed to get to the gym and get 40 min on the eliptical on saturday and we had dinner in the Italian market in Philly which was sooooooo good. Plain speghetti for me and i had to tap into my flex points but i still have 30 till thursday. It was worth it. BAck to work today and its nuts lately. I think i am going to change my name and number so people can't call me. Or wear a disguise so people will leave me alone. :) Anyway... Im still trying to get names right so bear with me here:
Dee Happy Birthday!!
Sherry-You poor woman doing all that work. Your friends are lucky to have someone like you. You deserve a bubble bath or something.
Janice-10lbs is awesome! Way to go! You rock on with your bad self! It stinks about your Dr. Can you call and make a big fuss or ask about cancellations? Sometimes they have a list for cancellations. ( I have been weaving in and out of the medical system for the past four years i know all the tricks..lol) Anyway.. I hope you feel better.
I forget who had the MIL problems since its on the other thread but i know its tough sometimes. I am soooo lucky. I have the best of the best when it comes to inlaws. My MIL treats me better than my mother. They treat me like one of their own. It's my SIL I don't get along with. Seriously.. like i need to leave the room or i will bite my toungue off to keep from screaming. Don't you just love family?..lol. Anyway. Have a fabulous evening!
01-30-2006, 10:13 PM
Admitted my FIL to the hospital this morning so was there all day until tonight. Needless to say, the cafeteria serves no food outside of hours and the closet place to go to was a bar & grill with NOTHING legal to eat (Not even a salad) I tried to make a halfway decent choice as far as food.
Erin, great job staying OP at an italian place! Are you doing core? You mentioned your 30 reserved points. BTW, there is nothing wrong with being in bed early! I giggle when I think back the hours I use to be in bed compared to now. I must be getting old too! LOL!
Have you guys seen Ladder 49? We rented it this weekend and it is very good!
01-31-2006, 01:20 PM
:woo:HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY DEE :balloons:
Gayle:  I'm here for ya to :listen: and  ;)
Dee: BEST WISHES FOR AN ENJOYABLE AND RELAXING TRIP!! :beach: I can't remember where you are going, but this looks good to me!!
OK got some MAJOR motivation this morning...saw SWIMSUITS advertised in a newspaper ad...:p
Survived the weekend even if I was off plan - but I didn't eat like I would have in the past...so I am congratulating myself on the SMALL successes. No, G, mom didn't try to feed me. My Mom is more if you tell her you are watching your weight...SHE WATCHES FOR YA. So if you eat something she says "are you supposed to have that?" I don't know which would be worse - well I should because my Grandma used to be the one that would FEED ME if she thought I was trying to lose wt.! LOL Anyway, to ward off Mom - I gave her a copy of the points plan. She needs to lose wt. too - she is a sister to G's mom, and my mom 5 yrs ago had a ittybitty heart attack compared to my auntie. But Mom has been eating even less than me as she has had her diverticulitis flair up...so she is watching with that.
Ok, now after that rambling I have two questions. One, I read in a post from Gayle? about sighing while you are eating to see if you are hungry. What is that all about? I'll try anything! LOL
Second, Shelly, I think you are on PP (pts. plan) how many baby carrots do you consider as being one cup? I tried putting them in a cup to measure...but is that what you would do? On the pkg it is 3 oz. for a serving. Just wondered how anyone else measures them out.
Been doing pretty good on gettin' my 3-4 days of walking in a week, but I think to boost my metabolism, I need to start fitting in some gym time to lift wts. I just don't know WHERE the time will come from - I don't like getting sweaty during my noon hr. and I LIKE mornings - to drink coffee! lol but not to get up at 6AM to WORK OUT...my muscles aren't awake yet!
I'm going to weigh in on Thursday...I'll have been OP for ten days - hope it is ALL GOOD! :dizzy:
01-31-2006, 04:47 PM
Today has been a WONDERFUL day! I checked the scales again this morning and was back at 145, so the 1 pound gain yesterday must have been fluid...I feel a lot better about that! I'm still OP and have managed to get my eating under control again. On top of that I had an appointment with our CPA this morning to do our taxes and all is said and done and we don't have to pay any extra in this year. What a huge relief! I am one really happy girl today! :carrot:
Erin ~ I can relate to the changing bedtimes! We were laughing the other night that we were going to bed at the same time we used to just be heading out for the evening!
Gayle ~ I'm sorry to hear that your father-in-law is in the hospital. Good for you for making the best food choices possible though. Stressful situations like that send me right towards the burgers, fries and milkshakes!
Bev ~ You're doing great! I think the first two weeks were the hardest for me and then the new way of eating seemed to become habit and it was just so much easier. Keep it up!
01-31-2006, 06:35 PM
Hello ladies from rainy chilly NJ. I have been spoiled with all this springy weather. Oh, I am on the regular points plan where i am counting every stinkin thing i eat. I still get 35 points as i understand it to do what i want with for the week. So far i have used 5 this week but we have a birthday dinner coming up thursday night so i have a feeling they will be needed. Luckily its after my weigh in so it wont show up on the scale. I start over with the extra points on friday mornings. With baby carrots i kinda munch on them all day. I am not a big "sit down at a table and eat a meal" person. I need to munch and do something else. I rarely take a lumch break. They are 0 points for a serving right? sooo.. 0 plus 0 is 0. Besides if my downfall is carrots then me and my metabolism need to have a little chat. :) Anyway, i go and start dinner. My tummy doesnt feel so well. There is a virus going around work. (ooooh yummy). Gayle I am really sorry about your father in law. I hope he feels better soon. Take care of yourself. Everyone have a splended day tomorrow!
01-31-2006, 11:00 PM
Bev, I sent you a discussion thread about "the sigh"! They say if we listen to our bodies and slow down while eating, we will sigh at the first sign of satisfied...not full. If I eat slow, I am noticing the sigh. Sometimes I will still have alot of food on my plate. Now if I can only resist temptation and STOP eating at that point. It has became a conversation starter at our home. As we eat, the kids are the first ones to point out to Steve or I if we just sighed. Allison keeps looking for "her sigh" but hasn't found it yet. We told her she is just fine and usually you don't find your sigh until your 18 years old or so. LOL!
I wouldn't worry about being exact on the carrot measurements, as long as your not wiping out a bag or two a day, I think your ok. Have you ever dipped them into mustard? Not bad for a 0 point snack!
Suzy, I am so happy for you! You deserve a great day! No taxes, WOW! I bet that was a major relief! I'm waiting for you to report 144 on the scale next week! YOU CAN DO IT!
Erin, I hope you feel better soon! I had several people come into the store today complaining of a bug or stomach upset. I think it is because the weather has been so mild here. We have trees budding out so allergies are running loose and without the bitter cold, we have germies floating around everywhere.
My FIL is still in the hospital and will probably remain there until the end of the week. He suffers from chronic lung disease after about 45-50 years of heavy smoking. He is on oxygen 24/7 and there is no chance he will ever go off of it. The doctors were concerned he could have phemonia, but he tested ok. He has a high white cell count so he has infection somewhere in his body. He has fluid retention also and they are working to have his body flush it out before it affects his heart. All in all, it could of been so much worse then it is. I'm glad he finally consented to a hospital stay.
Shelley, where are you today???
02-01-2006, 06:51 AM
Gayle-Sending prayers your way for FIL.
Bev-I am on Core, but when I was on Flex, I never counted carrots toward points. I ate them by the tons. Funny little story-my mom used to eat so many carrots that her skin turned yellow. The dr. said to quit eating so many of them. I wouldn't worry about counting them, though. BTW, I am so proud of you for exercising with Gayle and me!!
Goddess Dee-I hope you are enjoying PV! Check in with us when you can!
Janice-I am proud of you for your weight loss for the month!! That is so wonderful. Keep up the good work!
Better go-I've got to his gas before work.
Love to all!
Suzy-Good for you on your weight!
02-01-2006, 07:36 AM
Erin - Thanks for the doctor tips. I am going to call the specialist today and see if I can get on a cancellation list.
I try to get to the gym at least three times a week. I love the pool. I can't imagine 40 minutes on the eliptical machine. I do 10 minutes and think I'm doing great. I do 10 minutes eliptical, 10 minutes bike and 10 minutes treadmill. Then about an hour in the pool. At least its something more than I usually do.
CONGRATULATIONS to all of you staying on program.
Summer is coming and bathing suit ads are a great inspiration.
02-01-2006, 10:43 AM
ERIN - THANK YOU!!
I called the Ruematoligist (sp) this morning and they had a cancellation for Monday February 6th. I was so happy. Less than a week not 10 weeks.
02-01-2006, 11:02 AM
Janice ~ That is wonderful! I'm so glad that you were able to get an appointment so much sooner!
Shelley ~ I had a friend here who ate so many carrots that her skin turned yellow too! The doctor was worried that she was having liver problems and it turned out to be all the carrots she was eating!
Erin ~ I hope you're not getting sick! That stomach bug has been going around here too...it's not fun from what I hear.
Gayle ~ Thanks for the encouragement! I'm working on it...
02-01-2006, 06:00 PM
Congrats to ALL who had a loss for the week!
Thanks for all the tidbits about my carrot dilemma! I've heard about peeps skin turning color from eating too many carrots as well as their, umm, pee was an orange color. SORRY - hope no one was eating at their 'puter while reading. lol
Janice - I am so happy that you are able to get into the dr. earlier than TEN WEEKS...I hope they will have some "relief" for you! (My Dad has rheumatoid arthritis and I see how painful it is for him - so I FEEL for you!)
Gayle - you don't know your cuzin very well - mustard (blech) but I try to tolerate it occasionally lol It kind of reminds me of vinegar (ewwww) I'm pretty much fine eatin' a carrot w/o a dip. Thanks for the "sigh" info...that is interesting...I'll have to be more "in tune" with myself when eating...which is the way it should be anyway.
WOW - after reading what those of you who are doing FLEX count and don't count...I feel confused...I count ALMOST everything...except salad (lettuce and such) and green beans. I guess I'm still in the old mode where taters, carrots, and the like are starches and I thought you were supposed to count those...I need to do MORE reading and studying of the PLAN again!
Thanks to ALL for your support! Reading others' posts really helps inspire and motivate me!
02-01-2006, 07:11 PM
Good evening ladies, I feel a lot better today. I think it was just stress. I had a group home come and interveiw some of my clients today and it was making me nervous. It went as well as could be expected. One of my clients was pulling down her pants. ( Not the best 1st impression) But another one was an absolute angel. I was so proud of her. I really hope they pick her to leave. She deserves a chance. I felt like i was selling a car though. It was really stressful.
Then my best friend calls me and she is having MAJOR marrital problems. I just want to eat my popcorn and watch Dr. Phil!! I dont want to sound harsh but i want to change my name and number somtimes so people will leave me alone. :) Then i feel guilty for not being unhappy in my marriage and that i should be doing stuff with her. Anyway...thanks for listening to me vent.
Janice- I'm glad i was able to help. Here is another secret. Pretend you have a rotary phone and "dial" 0 so you can always talk to a real person. This way you arent talking to a machine and waiting around like an idiot for people to call you back. You have stuff to do too right? Why should you have to sit by the phone and wait? Always get the name of the person you talked to too and try to get chummy with them.
02-01-2006, 07:29 PM
Erin, my "best friend" from high school is the SAME WAY!!!!!!!! She always has some sort of trauma/drama going on in her life and will not leave me out of it. Plus, everytime I talk to her she tries to pull me down (I don't know if she's doing it on purpose)--it's like, if she can find fault with MY life, it'll make HER feel better!!
Anyway, I quit answering the phone when she called about 3 or 4 months ago and I did feel guilty FOR A WHILE, but I soon got over it when she stopped calling. Now I finally have some PEACE!
02-02-2006, 06:07 PM
Is there anybody out there?---ere?---ere?
02-02-2006, 06:33 PM
I'm here Cheryl! Checking in when I can. I spent the day at the hospital with Steve, MIL & FIL. Looks like he will be there a few more days...
This hospital lacks so many things, we are scared to leave him by himself. Yesterday the resp. therapist shut his oxygen off for a breathing treatment and then forgot to turn it back on! It was 1.5 hours before a family member could figure out why he was feeling so ill and not able to breath. They have also mixed up a few pills along the way...makes one feel safe & trusting while enjoying the hospital stay. :-)
Erin, great advice you gave Janice! I had a couple of friends I dropped this past year too. I realized they could care less about my life but were always the "Drama Queens" with happenings in their life.
Cheryl, how is school going?
Bev, I think your doing GREAT!!! I bet you will soon have a great report of pounds lost! Have fun this weekend & stay safe!
02-02-2006, 07:29 PM
I'm out here too Cheryl. Just lurking. Not much new with me.
Went to the gym this morning. The pool makes my joints feel better for a while.
Thanks for the tips Erin. I will remember them!
02-02-2006, 10:00 PM
I talked to my baby boy tonight and he told me that he received a meritorious promotion today to Corporal! I am one proud mama! :)
Gayle ~ I hope your father-in-law can go home soon! Hospitals aren't all they are cracked up to be these days.
Janice ~ Sounds like working out in the pool is just the ticket for you! I did water aerobics once and it really is an excellent workout...keep it up!
Bev ~ I know it can be confusing trying to figure out what to count and what not to count, but soon it will all be second nature...keep with it!
Cheryl ~ I agree...it's been really quiet in here today!!!
Shelley ~ How are you??? You've been awfully quiet the past couple of days...
Dee ~ I hope you're having fun!
02-02-2006, 10:46 PM
CONGRATULATIONS "Corporal Mama"!!!!! I bet you are ever so proud of your baby. They grow up so fast! I bet he is excited to come home too! How long will he be home on leave?
02-03-2006, 06:46 AM
Congratulations, Suzy! That's awesome!
Cheryl-I'm here, just too lazy to post much.
Gayle-Sounds like malpractice to me!! That is absolutely horrible.
I've been investigating this person that sent Patty that obscene object. I have the email address. The company sent me the person's address. Anyone want to email this person for me? I don't want them to know it came from me or anyone I know. I'm just trying to find out who it is. I'm not sure what I would even say to find out. I wish Ramona were around. She is such a good detective!
02-03-2006, 09:21 AM
Thanks ladies...I'm very proud! Travis works hard and has a lot of extra responsibilities so it's nice they recognized that! He has 60 more days in Iraq and then he will be back in CA. He will be here for 2 weeks sometime in April.
Shelley ~ File a police report and hand the information over to them! What this lowlife did is a crime and it should be treated as such!
02-03-2006, 10:37 AM
Shelley, I agree with Suzy! A police report should be filed so if something more serious ever happens. That way you will have documentation of calling the company and filing the report with the police. Does this person live near you? Was the package sent to Patty and not a mistake? He really should be reported...I'm not saying this to scare you, but there are many sick minded people in this world and he could eventually end up hurting someone. A person of sound mind doesn't send a very sexual adult item to a young high school girl. I apologize for not asking you about the situation, I thought it was a mistake on the companies part. I would email him for you other then too much info is listed in my email address. Please do report him, we want to keep Patty & other safe from nuts like this.
BTW: Do you have his name? If so, I might have a suggestion...email me.
Suzy, I bet you are so excited to see April get here!!!!
Off to work, then I will probably try to stop by the hospital on my lunch and then go up again this evening. He is fuctioning on 20% of his lungs and the hospital so far has shut his oxygen off for 1.5 hours (his lips were turning blue) and has screwed up his meds at least two times that we know of. It is a very good thing family members are staying around the clock with him. He is malnourished so the doctor ordered 4 boost shakes a day. Yesterday, finally at 2:00 in the afternoon, I asked for a shake. They never offered another one until 9:00 last night. The doctor even said it was prescribed so the nurses should just bring it with the meds and we wouldn't need to ask for it.
Please pray for baby Skylyn! A friend of Liz's had her baby at 27 weeks. Skylyn weighed 1 pound, 11 ounces (27 ounces!!) the doctors are saying she is doing well considering....last night the mom texted messaged Liz and said she was able to see the baby and she was crying. Hopefully, this is a very good sign.
02-03-2006, 03:14 PM
Suzanne has a poll going on in the top forum (I forget the name) regarding the signature issue.
02-03-2006, 03:14 PM
Oh, "Announcements and forum help"
02-03-2006, 05:51 PM
We have 3 kids at our school whose father murdered his estranged wife's 17 year old boyfriend a couple of nights ago. The oldest son witnessed it. Please pray for these boys. Mom is a drug addict and has custody of them, since dad is now in jail. It is a very sad situation. Kind of makes you look at your own and think of how lucky we all are!
02-03-2006, 07:17 PM
Shelley, check you emailie!!!!
02-05-2006, 07:18 AM
Gayle-I must have done something wrong with the tamale pie recipe. Made it in the crock and it turned out too soupy, so I ended up having Patty run to the store and get some taco chips for them, so they could have nachos. It tasted good though. I think I should have browned the hamburger meat first.
02-05-2006, 10:35 AM
The batch I made was fairly firm, but I agree, the hamburger seemed kinda "mushy". If I make it again, I will brown the hamburger too.
02-05-2006, 03:38 PM
Hey, Y'all ( I am so not from the south so i dont know whats with the y'all. I should be saying Yo! with my new Jersey accent) But anyway...Things are good here. I lost 2 lbs which is not acceptable in my book. I dont know what i did wrong. ( Ok i know what you are thinking but i am so competitive and i always have to do better than what i have done). Thursday we had a dinner thing at this hoity toity Mexican place for a friend that turned 30. (YIKES!!!.. At least i still have some time but as of july i can say im in my upper 20s... :O) The food wasnt my thing. If am going to eat mexican i want real food. Not tacos with fancy schmancy arrugala and sprouts with stuff i cant pronounce. And burritos with crap in it that i never hear of. I only ate a triangle of a quesadilla and a few bites of my burrito. I ate my huspands veggies. However.........I drank way way way to much margaritas so bye bye flex points. They are a weakness for me and when you are with people who are boring there isnt much else to do. :)Luckily they were replenished the next day.
Well today is superbowl sunday. How is everyone coping? What is everyone doing? Have you duct taped your huspand's mouths shut yet? :) My huspand bought a half dozen cannolis and some peunut butter cookie thing which he ate infront of me. I am making speghetti and meatballs but i got the recipe from dottie's. I am making onion dip for him with chips and he bought a stromboli and some chicken wing thing. I have no interest in either. But the speghtti and the cannolis are going to be a problem. He has had a stomach bug so if he gets sick i dont wanna hear it. :P
BTW- I made some kind of tamale pie in the oven but it was like a lasngna. Instead of noodles i used corn tortillas. I browned ground beef mixed with taco seasoning and salsa and frozen corn. I put a layer on the bottum then the meat. did that until it was gone. Then topped it with Fat free cheese. It was good.
Shelly that is such a sad story. They will be in my thoughts.
02-05-2006, 03:54 PM
:cheer: GO STEELERS!:cheer:
It's just hubby and I so it will be a quiet evening here, but I'm splurging on calories tonight and ordering pizza to have while we watch the game...it's tradition.
Gayle ~ You have no idea how excited I am for April to get here and the closer it gets the more excited I get! You all are going to get really sick of hearing the countdown!
Baby Skylyn is in my prayers...please keep us posted on her condition.
Shelley ~ My prayers also are with the family from your school. What an awful thing for those children to have to go through!
This tamale pie sounds good...where's the recipe? Did I miss it somehow?
02-05-2006, 04:46 PM
Suzy, the recipe Shelley and I are taking about is a crockpot core recipe using cornmeal. Enjoy the pizza tonight! I'm sure you'll weigh-in just fine unless you eat over 3,000 calories of pizza!!! :-)
Baby Skylyn is a fighter! She is off of the respirater and only has oxygen. From the top of her head, stretched out to her toes, she is 12" long.
the doctors are telling her mom it is looking good.
Erin, I'm sending wishes your way to avoid all temptation this evening. The Tamale pie recipe sounds yummy! My hubby is going to the hospital to watch the game with his dad, this means a quiet evening for me at home with the girls. I'm a Sylvia Browne fan so I will probably watch a video I recorded of her Montel episodes. When Steve gets home, we are planning a few snacks but they will be somewhat healthy ones. I have a feeling wine is what is going to get me in trouble tonight instead of the food.
Guess what!!!! I paid $5.00 for a super bowl square one of the venders was peddling at the store. My numbers are 0 & 0, so I already won $50.00! If each quarter and at the end of the game the last digits of the score match my numbers, I win more money!
Hope everyone is having a SUPER weekend!
02-05-2006, 04:49 PM
Shelley, how very sad about the family. How old are the kids? Hopefully some decent family members will come forward and be able to help out with the children.
02-05-2006, 07:42 PM
Sorry to say, I don't watch the Super Bowl. Neither does Mike. Patty has a friend over to watch it in her room.
The boys in that family are 11, 9, and 6. Mom has custody. They weren't in school Friday, but our guidance counselor went over to the apt. and brought the oldest one back to school. There is nothing that can be done right now about the fact that mom is a drug addict. Maybe once DCF gets involved something will happen. I was able to get them a bus, so they will have a way to return to school.
Erin-You are too funny. I guess margaritas would be the answer to deal with boring company! I think 2 lbs is wonderful.
Suzy-Okay, I forget. Why are you so excited about April? Wasn't it a family reunion?
Sherry-How are you doing, and where the heck is Debbie??? I miss hearing from her.
Ramona-You are in my thoughts and prayers. Please check in when you can.
Dee-I know you are doing some fun stuff in PV at this time!
02-05-2006, 08:31 PM
Okay...here is the damage.. I am fessing up. Its not so bad. A handful of chips with lowfat onion dip. A plateful of "sketties" with 3 meatballs. 3 pieces of Italian bread. 1 beer (light) that i didnt finish. (It turns out that "wedding beer" from October while it makes a nice momento doesnt taste real good). and a cannoli. Ouch...I feel gross. It could have been a **** of a lot worse. Compared to last year....
Suzy- Thats so great about your son. You must be soo exited. I am so excited for you.
Gayle-I am sorry about your father in law. The hospital sounds really icky. He is lucky to have you guys around to fiend for him and be his advocate.
Thats great news about the baby. Its amazing what they can do isnt it?
I kinda like sylvia browne too. I would like to have a half an hour with her. She has a radio show on Sirius that i catch sometimes which is kinda neat. I always end up crying though. Anyway...BAck to the game... I hope you all have a splendid week!
02-05-2006, 10:15 PM
You guys will think I'm crazy, but Steve actually purchased tickets for me to a Sylvia Browne lecture in July of this year. She will select some people out of the group to do a private reading with. I catch her on Hayhouse radio on the net. In fact they have archives of the programs available so you can catch it whenever you want. I've had just enough "unexplained" things happen to me that her messages intrigue me.
Erin, you did well controlling your munchies during the game. It could of been a whole lot worse! GREAT JOB DROPPING THE 2 POUNDS!
FIL not doing good tonight. He was better yesterday and they were looking at releasing him on Monday. Today he is ill, vomiting and is having periods of slurred/jumbled speech. They will do a cat scan in the morning. Possible could be a TIA which is best explained as a mini stroke.
Shelley, I'm not a football fan either. In fact, when the vender wanted me to bet on a square, I just closed my eyes and pointed! LOL! Now I'm just checking in every so often to watch the score to see if I make any more big money! LOL!

I had a 3 pound gain this week and it is no surprise. I have not been staying OP since we have been going back and forth to the hospital. I'm sure this next week, I will have a loss. I'm preparing some things ahead so hopefully I can run home and grab instead of trying to find something healthy at the hospital or closest fast food place.
Allison is home sick today. We were up until around 4:00 this morning. She is all congested and had an earache during the night. Hopefully it is just a cold instead of her asthma flaring up. When she becomes congested and starts coughing, she then gets so choked up she usually vomits. Sooooooo it was a very fun night here....Steve missed it all, he was at the hospital all night.
02-06-2006, 05:26 PM
Poor little Allison. I hope she's better now.
Gayle-I am right there with you. Is all I want to do is eat. I ate Cracklin Oat Bran last night, and now the box is calling me back. What is my problem? My weight is up and is going up more. I am beginning to think that I may get my period back again. I feel kind of like it.
02-06-2006, 07:28 PM
Gayle - I am a Sylvia Browne fan too. I have most of her books, watch her on Montel all the time, and have seen her twice in person. She is great.
I saw the Rheumatologist today. I feel better after seeing him. He did a total check from my head to my toes. He sent me for more tests and xrays. He said I am full of fluid right from my toes, ankles, knees, fingers, hands, elbows and face. He said he is pretty sure I have poly arthritis. I never heard of it before. It is arthritis of the muscles, not the bones. He put me on more medication and I go back in two weeks. The good part is from what I have read on the internet, it will go away in time.
My doctor was making me feel like I was nuts.
We were invited to a Super Bowl party, but we aren't fans.
I spent Saturday night in the hospital with the hubby. He was walking and blacked out and fell. He hit his head, cheek and eye on the stone fireplace. I called an ambulance to come because we were having a major snowstorm. There was no way I would have even tried to get him to the hospital.
They did a cat scan, chest xrays, blood work etc. The outcome was that his blood pressure was too low which caused him to pass out for a few seconds.
He is on so much medication for his heart, I figured he was having another heart attack.
I hope everyone else had a better weekend than I did.
02-07-2006, 06:53 AM
Janice-Sending prayers for your hubby. I am so sorry about your weekend, but at least now you have a name for your pain. Hopefully, everything will work it's way back to normal on you. Until then, you are in my prayers.

I posted this over in general chatter, but I want to rant here, too (because I love you all..... :) ) :
Ok, I must admit that one of my few "true" addictions (besides food) is Mountain Dew. I love it--everything about it. I usually drink two 12 oz. cans/day of the stuff.
Well, this past week-end I decided I was going to get back on the diet "wagon" by counting calories and generally cleaning up what I was eating. Kind of as a "last fling" I stopped on the way home from class last night and got a 20 oz. bottle of Mountain Dew. You know, one last kiss kind of thing.
To aid me on my diet (which will be calorie counting & exercise), I bought single-serving sizes of the foods which I like to eat. For breakfast, this included 6.75 oz. bottles of Sunny Delight (they're easy to drink on my way to work in the mornings). This morning when I got in my truck, I noticed that there was about 6 oz. (rough estimate) of Mt. Dew left in my bottle from last night.
Now here's the delimma: Do I drink the ambrosia or leave it and be "good" and drink the Sunny D? I read the nutritional label of the Mt. Dew and determined that I'd be consuming about 110 calories if I drank it (I rounded up to 8 oz. because that's what the calorie count was for). . . . . Wait a minute. . . . . 110 calories for 8 oz? The Sunny Delight has 110 calories for 6.75 oz.!!
I let this information simmer in my brain on the drive to work. When I got to work, I went to the fridge and got a can of Mt. Dew to check some stats. This is what I found:
12 oz. Mt. Dew: Calories 170; Sodium 70 mg.; Total Carb. 46 g.; Sugars 46 g.
6.75 oz. Sunny D: Calories 110; Sodium 140 mg. ; Total Carb. 27 g.; Sugars 25 g
This is for almost HALF the amount of the Mountain Dew!!!!
Now, maybe everyone knew this but me, but this just totally BLEW MY MIND!!!! I mean, those little bottles of Sunny Delight are what people give thier KIDS!
Even the ingredients are close to the same! The one MAIN difference there being the caffeine content. Of course, Sunny D doesn't have the caffeine of Mt. Dew, but you can drink caffeine Mt. Dew!
Anyway, just had to share this "rant"!
I feel better now. Even though I did just buy that thingy of Sunny Delight last night for my "diet." Next time I'll check things out a little more carefully.
02-07-2006, 06:31 PM
Cheryl-I agree. Sunny D is more like a soft drink instead of a healthy juice. But did you notice the sugar count in the Dew? 21 more grams. Not to mention the caffeine!!
02-07-2006, 06:33 PM
Yeah, but that was for 12 oz of Mt. Dew and only 6.75 oz of Sunny Delight!!!
02-07-2006, 07:23 PM
Cheryl ~ I think it would be a good idea to limit soda and juice...that way you can use your calories for food. It was hard for me to give up Pepsi when I first started on this journey, but I am more than happy with water or tea now. The only time I really crave Pepsi is when I'm not feeling well or have a headache.
Janice ~ I'm sorry to hear about your hubby's fall...you must have been scared to death! I hope he's feeling better now and that it won't happen again.
Gayle ~ Sorry to hear that Allison is ill...there's a lot of that going around here too. It seems like everyone I talk to lately has had one thing or another. I guess it's that time of year. I hope she's feeling better now!
How is your FIL doing? Is he still in the hospital?
Shelley ~ Travis will be home for two weeks sometime in April...it's been over a year since I have seen him. He will be back from Iraq sometime towards the end of March...less than 60 days!
Erin ~ You're doing great! Keep it up!
02-07-2006, 11:30 PM
I was away until tonight so I never checked the board. They called the family in early this morning to be with FIL, things were not good at all...by mid-afternoon he was sitting up and trying to eat! They also just now figured out he was having a drug interaction which is causing the tremors and shakes. BTW: his cat scan results turned out normal so no stroke as suspected. This little ol' man just wants to go home, so hopefully he can start holding down enough food and be able to do so. He will never again be well so hopefully the doctors can do what is needed to keep him comfortable. My concern right now is his not being able to hold much food down, at this point he is under 100 pounds. Steve is staying the night at the hospital with him and his mother. Thank you for the prayers, all is appreciated!
Cheryl, I LOVE fruit juice but never drink it because of the calories. On the core plan you can eat all the fruit you need to feel satisfied, but fruit juice is a no-no. It must be because of the abuse potential. Although I say I never drink juice, I am sitting here right now enjoying a large glass of grape juice, or in other words WINE! LOL! Do you like diet MT. Dew? I made the switch to diet cola and can now hardly handle the real stuff, it seems to syrupy.
Your plan sounds similar to one I read about this past week in a womans day mag. It was a mother and adult daughter to chose to purchase "dangerous" foods in individual serving so they will not abuse. They had several helpful hints of just eating healthy and what they did to learn to choose a good for you food over a bad food. I can't remember how much they lost total, but it was several pounds.
Janice, I didn't realize your hubby had heart problems. With your problems and his heart, you have a lot on your plate. Hopefully the doctors are headed in the right direction to give you relief. Did they give hubby something to keep his blood pressure from getting so low?
Shelley, I am trying to stay OP but very difficult right now! Today was going to be the day! Then we get called in to go to the hospital. By the time a relative dropped off some burgers I was hungry plus I had a "who gives a sh**) attitude! It is so depressing to want to do something and it is all out of your control. Even though I am not watching it at the hospital, I am making wise choices at home. BTW: I will get the email done hopefully in the next few days.
Where is Sher bear?
02-08-2006, 07:24 PM
Howdy ladies. I am not having such a good week. I am so hungry for some reason. I ran out of my anitdepressant medication and i finally managed to get my butt to the drugstore to refill it so hopefuly i will be back to my normal slightly moody self. I could barely get out of bed this morning. Who knows why.... I feel alot better now thought since i took my medication. I hope the scale is forgiving . My clothes feel looser so thats good. We are going to the Outback steakhouse on Sat. for my MIL's and Niece's birthday. That place is like public enemy number one for me but i get ill everytime i eat there from all the fat in the food.( i have trouble with my pancreas and pancreatitus and digesting fat but it rarely stops me from eating it). Maybe i will show some restaraint and the onions wont bloom on my side of the table. The fries with the cheese are the best though. But blech... they make me ill and i will remember that. ( sorry i am just ranting and raving like a mad woman). I am having trouble with exercise size and getting my hiney to do it. Any suggestions? I am so darned tired! ANyway..enough of my moaning...
BTW i would take the Mountain dew anyday over the Sunny Delight. At least MD doesnt try to fool you into being healthy and the commercials are better. :)
Janice-I am sorry that your huspand fell. That sounds like a nasty injury. I hope he is okay.
Gayle-I am glad that your FIL is getting better and it wasnt a stroke. That is good news
02-09-2006, 06:47 AM
Suzy-I can so why you are so excited! You get to see your baby!
Erin-What antidepressant do you take? I've been on Prozac for years. How did the dinner go?
Gayle-How is FIL? I have 3 good days behind me now. I am still tracking points. I am also making this a scale back week on running. I am hoping that will help get the weight moving backwards. That's not really the reason I'm scaling back. I can't do a run on Saturday because I need to go to OM judges training in the morning. Saturday is usually a 10 mile run. I am also doing every other day this week, so my weekly total is way down.
02-09-2006, 10:00 AM
Erin--First "y'all" and now "howdy"?
Are you about ready for your visit to me in Arkansas?
:) :) :) :) :)
02-09-2006, 10:52 AM
Erin, I hope the meds start kicking in soon. If you are telling a difference in your clothes, don't fret over what the scale reads. I am staying the same & bouncing the same pounds back and forth but yet my clothes are getting looser. We could drive ourselves nuts with this dieting thing. LOL!
Cheryl, did you decide to stay with the MD? I say if you love it, stay with it, maybe just cut back on the serving size if your not drinking the diet kind. It can really scare us when we actually start looking at the food labels!
Shelley, I noticed you had cut back on the running but I thought maybe you weren't feeling well. Do you usually have a substantial loss when you cut back for the week? It must be true that the more we exercise, the more fluid our muscle holds.
FIL holding his own, they switched meds again so hopefully we can start getting some food down the little guy. His breathing continues to do well, now if we can just get him to stop the vomiting. He is getting really homesick and is ready to go home soon. Looks like it will still be a few more days.
Cheryl: Is it AR-CAN-SAW or AR-KANSAS???? I'm a hick so I say AR-CAN-SAW. LOL!
02-09-2006, 01:47 PM
Gayle ~ You should be fine as long as you're eating good when you're home. Hopefully your FIL will keep improving and he will be home soon!
Erin ~ I find that if I exercise first thing in the morning that it gives me a lot of energy through the day. Maybe it would work for you too...
Shelley ~ I don't know how you find time to run at all as busy as you are these days!
02-09-2006, 01:57 PM
Gayle, yep, I'm staying with the MD. I "need" it. I'm buying some of those 8 oz. cans. They cost more, but it'll help me not to drink as much.
It's just WRONG to say AR-KANSAS!!!!!
(Actually, if you really want to fit in, it's AR-KIN-SAW)
02-09-2006, 02:15 PM
Cheryl ~ I buy a lot of foods packaged in individual servings. I think it's worth the extra money...they really do help keep your portions in line!
02-09-2006, 05:38 PM
Suzy, Just about every "successful" diet I've ever been on--including Weight Watchers--has involved pre-packaged (or otherwise easy to measure) foods. I'd probably be the type to do really well on Jenny Craig or Nutri-System, but who can afford those?
EVERYONE: I am getting my ear stapled tomorrow (if I don't chicken out!!). I'll letcha know how it goes!
02-09-2006, 08:45 PM
LOL... no offense but i have been to the south a few times and this is going to sound truely awful and i am sorry if i offend anyone. I absolutly hated it and i could not wait to come home to my noise and pollution and rudeness. I was going crazy with how relaxed and slow everything was. Also... People were just too darned nice. I live about 1 1/2 hours from NYC ( i grew up about 45 min by train from there and we go all the time.) and about 10 min from Philly so things are kinda intense around here and people are just plain rude lol.People bump into you and dont think twice about it. And besides... when I was in SC i could not for the life of me find good pasta or pizza or sugarfree iced tea. LOL... OKay there is my rant. It was warm though which was nice in January... It was way too differant for me. I am not used to having to be nice to others...lol. Here its every woman for herself. :)
But anyway.... I lost .6 pound(s). Yep.. thats a decimal point. Well at least i didnt gain i guess. I am still mad at myself. I could do better and i will. I feel a lot better today. Hopefully tomorrow i will feel even better. My dinner thing is saturday but i'll be alright. Its not like its a 5 star dining experiance. I just dont want to hurt their feelings. Well i better go.. zSurvivor is coming on... I hope everyone has a fabulous day tomorrow!
Cheryl--good luck with your ear stapleing!
02-10-2006, 06:41 AM
Erin-No offense, but I think that the northerners are the rudest people I have ever known! I remember going to Chicago years ago and couldn't get over how people just get in front of you, slam doors in front of you, etc. We are very nice down here. I do know what you mean about moving slow, though. That's probably because we have so many older people here. I just don't like rude people. Okay, that's my rant for the day!!
Cheryl-I can't wait to find out if the stapling helps. If it does, I have a friend who I know would do it. One of our teachers does Jenny Craig and brings her little meals to school. They look so small and yucky to me! Anyway, she has lost quite a bit of weight. She had her stomach stapled a few years back also, so her stomach can't hold much to begin with. She also had her upper arm flab taken off. Then she got pregnant and everything came back. That's why she's doing Jenny now.
02-10-2006, 09:46 AM
Well, I think it is cool that regardless where we are from, this is a great group of ladies here! People in this area aren't really rude as far as pushing or shoving, they just don't want to be bothered with anything. I will go to our local Walmart and just test people. I can't believe how many won't even smile or respond when smiled at or spoken to. I'm so glad I'm a nice person! LOL! My one pet peave is people who never say thank you or please.
Cheryl, good luck! Let me know if it works! You know, I lost several pounds the other time I lost weight by eating a healthy choice/smart ones entree along with veggies/fruit for my lunch & dinner. It worked well when I needed to prepare something different for the family. It took the guess work out of what I would be eating plus I liked the portion control. I don't know why you couldn't do something along that line instead of joining J. Craig etc. I have never tried the food but from what I understand it is very expensive.
I broke over and purchase me a pair of little weird dutch shoes yesterday! You know, the fugly ones! Mine aren't the croc brand, I picked up a pair of very sophisticated (LOL!) black ones at payless for $15.00. they are quite comfy, reminds me of wearing slippers all day. I will try them out at work today on the concrete floors and let you know how they work out.
02-10-2006, 07:51 PM
I find i am nice to a fault. My mom would take stuff away from me if i didnt say thank you or she wouldnt give me stuff if i didnt say please so its a habit i got into real quick. (Im still training my huspand) When i taught preschool a few years ago i was shocked how rude they were. After a few months i had the politest group of 3 year olds. I had a boot camp for toddlers.lol I hate rude kids. The things they will do for a cookie though. I have to be nice though because of my job. Be a social worker means you always have to be friendly even though you want to shake people and scream " what the "bleep" is wrong with you people????" Its not even the cliets. Its the staff. Most of my clients are in a semivegetative state. Although i did get one lady to laugh today and i almost cried. It sounded like music. :) Okay so i am going off on a tangent here.
I managed to make it to the gym. I jacked myself up with caffine and i did 45 min on the treadmill. I feel good. Its suposed to snow tomorrow a lot. 6 to 12 inches which is a lot for here. not cool. but anyway... hope you all have a good weekend!
