General chatter - 24
01-24-2006, 10:00 AM
Does anyone else want to talk about 24? I love that show. Last year I was on the official Fox website and participated in the message board and it was really fun talking about the show with others, but there were way too many spoilers, so I've vowed this year not to go to that site.
I think this season is great so far. So sad about President Palmer and Michelle. Palmer was my absolute favorite character (well, tied with Jack and Nina). President Logan stinks. He's a lousy President and a lousy husband. I hope his wife goes to CTU or somewhere and finds someone to believe her story.
Okay, I could go on and on. I hope there are other 24 fans on here, it would be fun to have an ongoing thread while the season progresses.

Hubby watches it......I don't.......I like Keifer Sutherland though.........just not a show I ever got into.
01-24-2006, 01:17 PM
i tried watching it for the first time ever last night, and i got lost lol. next time i won't have any distractions in front of me (ie, my computer lol) and i'll try again.
01-24-2006, 06:43 PM
LOVE it! DH has followed along from the beginning - I just started the end of last season.
01-24-2006, 06:47 PM
I'm addicted! Got addicted last seson and bought the dvd's. I often stay up WAYYYYYYYYYY too late watching that show!
01-25-2006, 09:43 AM
Susie: I've got all except Season 4 on dvd, and yes, sometimes I get on a kick and watch for way too long! I've gotten my parents hooked on it, and my hubby's family, and several friends. Those dvds are almost worn out! Even my stepson likes it, we got him hooked on it while he and his sister were staying with us this Christmas break. I first started watching during Season 3, which happens to be my favorite of all.
01-25-2006, 10:03 PM
I love it too, I've watched it from the beginning. I screamed when Pres. Palmer was killed! He was one of my faves. Hope this isn't too much info but I've read that they plan on bringing back Jacks daughter. I just hope she isn't kidnapped AGAIN. :dizzy:
01-26-2006, 01:00 PM
Lynn: Kim's coming back? No, I really didn't want to know that, I was hoping to avoid spoilers, but now that you've said it I'm intrigued. Let's see, she was a CTU employee when she left, she married Chase, right? But we don't really know what they're doing or where they're living. But I guess it makes sense, since her Dad is back from the "dead" she would want to be in his life again. You're right though, she'll probably be kidnapped again! I guess it's better than being chased by a cougar!
I was talking to my hubby last night about this season. They've really played up Chloe's character, haven't they? She used to make funny comments every so often, but now it's constant. She's hilarious, I really like her. My favorite quote so far was when the director of CTU (I can't remember his name) said to her "You've violated about 7 rules, what do you think we're going to do?" and she said, "No, it's more like 23 rules." I know that's not even close to the exact quote, but you get the idea. She's great.
I love this show as well, especially since the last season.
I saw the below quote in a men's fitness article called "Set Worthy Goals" and thought you guys might find it amusing.
Goal # 6. Build a bigger chest by March. Your simple plan: Watch the new season of 24 and do 10 pushups every time someone is tortured.

Julie
Cindy, sorry about the spoiler, from now on it's :tape:

I love, love, love "24". I just started watching last season thinking it was season 1 until my husbands collegue said it was like season 4:( Thankfully, I have been able to catch up on a few of the seasons. This show is so intense! I am frozen still when it is on and I record the shows (great to be able to fast forward the commercials) but still can't move 'til it has ended!
01-28-2006, 12:49 AM
I am completely OBSESSED with this show!! I love it. I rented season one about a year ago when I was having surgery and had watched all three seasons within a few months. Then watched four over the holidays. I love how anything could happen and no one is "safe," except for Jack, of course.
01-28-2006, 01:13 AM
I LOVE "24" .... have from DAY #1!!! Can't wait to see it every week ... Kiefer is a great actor.
01-28-2006, 12:04 PM
Julie: That's hilarious! Or maybe do crunches whenever Jack says "Dammit!" That'll get you fit, too!
Lynn: Don't worry about it! I have a love/hate relationship with spoilers. I'd be happy if I never heard another one in my life, but if I do hear one I get all excited about it and want to hear more! (Kind of like gossip, wouldn't you say? lol)
Nicole: I agree with you, I sit and don't move until it's over! Doesn't it stink, though, when you're used to watching the dvd's and now we're in the regular season and not only have to contend with the commercials, but also waiting an entire week between episodes?
I agree about Kiefer, I think he's a tremendous actor. I especially love his voice, so of course I loved the movie Phone Booth. Hey, has anyone else seen the Mac commercials about the Intel chips now being installed in Macs? I SWEAR that's Kiefer talking in those commercials. Anyone else agree?
Waiting impatiently for Monday,
01-30-2006, 11:18 PM
Man, tonight's episode was excellent! I'm sure 'ol Walt had to change his undies when Jack got through with him! And don't you just love Agent Pierce? He's the best.
Wow. I guess so much for Jack going back underground after the cannisters get secured. What was he thinking anyway? Doesn't he realize there's another 18 hours in the day?!
That episode really took my breath away. One of the best, in my opinion. What did everyone else think?
01-31-2006, 11:36 PM
I loved it (as usual) I can't wait for those twists that always pop up just when you think you've figured it out....it always surprises me. Besides the nerve gas they have to work in a way to resolve the Chinese gov't problem. Our Jack can't disappear again! Can he?
02-01-2006, 01:20 PM
Right, I agree! Unless Kiefer's contract expires! There's no one to take his place, though.
About that guy that seems to be in charge of everything for the bad guys... it looks like he's in a darkened room with a bunch of computer screens. My husband swears he's at CTU division. Could be. I'm thinking more like the CIA or some other agency. Whoever his ends up being, I'm sure we'll all be surprised!
02-07-2006, 08:56 PM
ok, I watched but missed the 1st half hour. I saw that Walt (I think that's his name) killed himself and it seems the prez. made up with his wife. I also saw that woman that killed the man that was a link to the terrorists. Did I miss anything else? Sorry, I'll be more careful in the future!
02-08-2006, 01:27 PM
I had to jump on board with the "24" love fest! DH and I are addicted. I have to record it when he has to be away from home. And, I've decided that I have to record and watch it after my little boy goes to sleep. Way too much violence for such young eyes!!! He would gladly sit there and watch it with us if I let him. Hubby agrees.
About Monday's episode, I believe the prez is humoring crazy wife. There ain't no way he is going to mess up is "image" by issuing a statement saying he was involved some how. Having said that, however, there is no telling how Walt's suicide will impact what the prez does next (he lost his scape goat).
I love Chloee because she is an absolute freak!!! And, poor Edgar - unrequited love is so sad to watch. He so wants Chloee to give him the good love!
And, my idea for a fitness plan during "24", do 10 jumping jacks every time Jack says "we're running out of time" or "there isn't enough time." Gotta love ole Jacky-boy.
02-08-2006, 07:07 PM
I don't personally watch this show but the husband is a 24 freak!!!! He loooves this show. Me..I can't miss any of the CSI series.
02-09-2006, 11:54 AM
Lynn: No, you pretty much got it. The woman was actually a 15-year old girl he was holding hostage. He was going to lead CTU to the cannisters but then the girl somehow found a gun and killed him. Didn't Jack learn anything from Season 1? (Remember when Palmer's aide killed Andre Drazen?)
AJsMa: Yes, we don't watch it with my son either, but luckily his normal bedtime is before it starts.
I don't think the President is humoring his wife necessarily. I don't think he can think for himself. He's so weak and whiny, I wonder how he ever got to be a President. He molds himself to the people he's surrounded by. I really cannot stand him, I don't even like looking at him.
Did you catch Edgar's smile when Chloe did the double-eye roll and told off Spencer? I guess he likes a fiesty woman, and you don't get 'em any fiestier than Chloe!
I try not to watch the preview for the next week, but I was watching <ahem> American Idol last night and couldn't hit mute in time. I won't mention what I saw in case others don't watch the previews, but it blew me away when they told Jack, "The President orders you to :censored: ". Can't wait to see what THAT'S about!
Shawna: I watched CSI once a few weeks ago, but not the one with Gary Sinise (I love him!). I liked it, but I can only take so much tv in a week, so 24 is more of a priority.
02-10-2006, 02:27 AM
I can't stand watching him as president either. I just want him to wear a turtleneck or something so I quit staring at his many-layered neck all the time. ;) I miss President Palmer. I hope during the next season they put Jack back with CTU; I'm getting a little tired of this reinstatement for a day stuff.
02-14-2006, 10:27 AM
President Palmer would NEVER have let them release the gas! Can't that stupid Logan make ANY decisions on his own? He blames everyone else for his mistakes, too.
What's up with that Sean Hannity-looking guy, what's his name, Lynn? Did that mugger steal his ID last week? I thought we'd learn more this week. If his CTU ID was stolen, that could be bad. But if it wasn't, than what the heck was the point of that whole scene last week? We don't need another Maya!
I actually like Audrey this year. She's very strong, not so whiny. It was great when she was yelling at Lynn and her boss tried to interrupt her by saying "That's enough, Audrey", and without even taking a breath she said "No it isn't.. Lynn, look at those children on the monitor.." And she went on and on. She's cool.
Whew, good episode. I still can't believe they released some of the gas into the mall. Jerks.
02-14-2006, 10:40 AM
Pretty good epidsode!! I wish Jack would have had some time for some quality torture!!
Logan is a weasel who really can't think for himself. Unfortunately, that probably describes all of our last 5 presidents!
03-07-2006, 09:09 AM
Okay, I had to revive this thread because last night's episodes were so great! So many things to talk about, but all I can think of is Edgar. Did anyone else cry? I sure did, like a baby. His last word was "Chloe" and he sounded so sad. Poor Edgar. I'm glad he got a silent clock, he deserved it.
So Kim's back. I was sure that doofus guy with her was her psychiatrist, he didn't look like her typical boyfriend. Like someone else on this thread said, I wonder how long until she gets kidnapped.
My hubby and I think, now that Henderson is in lockdown in the same room as Tony, it's only a matter of time before Tony kills him. 24 has a history of key witnesses being killed for revenge, before Jack gets all the information he needs out of them.
The VP is finally in the picture, I don't know that he's any better than Logan. Well, anything is an improvement I guess.
03-14-2006, 01:28 PM
I thought Tony died, but there wasn't a silent clock (wow, that would have been 2 weeks in a row!). So I guess he's still alive? That Henderson guy is hard-core, isn't he? I thought Nina was tough while she was being "interrogated" in CTU, but this guy went through a ton more pain and still was able to escape.
Great episode. I almost felt bad for President Logan last night. But I don't think that VP is much better. Wonder if Logan is going to last the season.
I thought Lynn's sacrifice was impressive, but it didn't move me as much as George Mason's heroism in... was it Season 2? Maybe because I sort of liked Mason, but I never warmed up to Lynn.
I still almost cried when they played the scene from last week where Edgar called "Chloe".... haunting.
03-14-2006, 02:04 PM
Yep. Last night was a great episode. How gut wrenching! I started crying when the guy was talking to his little girl. And, when he took his hand off his mouth and thought he was okay...
Logan was likable as I've seen him. It did break my heart. My husband doesn't like Martha. he thinks she is too whiny. I love her. She really is a great addition to the show.
I totally agree with the Henderson being a complete bad-***.
What a great episode!
03-16-2006, 12:25 AM
It's possible Tony really did die, because supposedly he's listed on the Fox website as "Deceased". That info is second-hand, as I haven't checked the site myself. If so, it was rotten of the writers not to honor him with a silent clock.
Yes, I actually liked Logan for a few minutes, too. The scene where he almost cried was quite touching. I think he's way in over his head. I don't agree that his wife is whiny, but I agree that she's rather annoying. Less so now that she's not being made out to be "unbalanced".
03-20-2006, 09:51 PM
Hey guys-anyone watching tonight? Looking forward to it.
03-20-2006, 11:27 PM
Oooooo...Audrey's in trouble!!!! I certainly didn't see THAT coming!
03-20-2006, 11:45 PM
Do you believe Collette? I can't imagine Audrey would do something like that, but then you never know. If it's true, Jack's really going to go over the edge for sure.
I'm so mad about Tony! I'm okay with him being dead, but they did it so disrespectively in my opinion. Just sort of offhandedly killed him, and he didn't get a silent clock. He's been on the show since season 1, and I would guess he's second in popularity only to Jack. Very poor send-off.
Exciting show tonight, as usual I can't wait for next week!
03-21-2006, 12:19 AM
I think it might be a case of Collette knowing about Audrey and Jack...or someone else knowing about Audrey and Jack (maybe Audrey's dad?) about telling Collette to drop her name as her contact.
As for Tony, I agree that he should have gotten the silent clock. I didn't believe he was really dead until the sheet came out. The man fully recovered from being shot in the neck in like a couple of hours!!
03-21-2006, 08:13 AM
Audrey was definetly a shocking plot twist! My hubby and I were both sitting with our jaws on the floor.
03-22-2006, 08:01 PM
Audrey was definetly a shocking plot twist! My hubby and I were both sitting with our jaws on the floor.I just keep rethinking all the possible how, what's & why's to this newest Audrey twist. These writers are geniuses!
04-10-2006, 11:33 PM
I had to bump this thread. This show is sooo good! They didn't show it but I'm guessing Evelyn (and her daughter) were killed by Henderson also that poor bank manager. And Chloe is hilarious "Are you kidding? I'll write you a report"  She cracks me up. Is everyone still watching???
04-13-2006, 02:38 AM
I still am. Always a fan of this show, it's always good! I'm sad that the bank manager died an dinterested to see what happens next week. :smug:
04-13-2006, 09:53 AM
They HAD to kill the bank manager. As soon as he heard the tape and recognized Logan's voice, I figured that he was doomed. Either he was doomed or he was going to have to spend the rest of the season running around with Jack and Wayne Palmer!
By the way, where's Curtis?!?
04-15-2006, 10:02 AM
I feel bad for the bank manager, too. And Evelyn and her daughter. Especially her daughter, I hate to see kids exposed to such violence (even fictional kids).
I'm not sure about Curtis. It's only been an hour or two since we've seen him, right? Maybe he took a lunch break!
Glad to see William Devane back, I really like him. He's a kick-a$$ guy; he'd make a great President next season... hint hint, writers! Then again, they way this season is going, he'll probably be dead soon.
I just don't know what else can happen this season. There are, what?, 6-7 hours left? There is no longer a threat from the cannisters. I wonder if Kim's part is finished for the season.
04-15-2006, 11:19 AM
I'd rather have anyone as president than wishy-washy turkey neck. I'm not a fan of his, and wasn't even before it was revealed he's a traitor. I'd love to see Heller as president. Too bad we can't have a soap opera twist and see Palmer come back. He was my favorite. :)
04-27-2006, 12:05 AM
That new guy (can't remember his name) that's been on the phone with "President" Logan is creepy. He used to be Dr. Romano on ER, remember him? He's good at playing a complete jerk, isn't he. I wonder what he and those other guys have planned now. Who the heck are they, anyway?
The airplane scene with Jack ought to be good next week. I haven't seen much of the previews yet, but I think I saw they actually did get in the air.
Audrey kind of scared me, telling Jack to "Kill him" in her "Exorcist" voice. I like her a lot this year, I feel bad for her though. I guess her father is dead, but we may never know for sure.
And who here thinks Aaron is gone? Dead? They'd better explain his absence before the season is over. I don't want another repeat of Tony's death, you know, one of those "he's been on since the very first season and he's an all-time favorite with the fans but we're going to kill him needlessly and we will never speak of him again" killings that 24 is famous for this year. At least Edgar got the silent clock, but the writers' compassion seems to have ended with that episode.
(Can you tell I'm still bitter? lol)
04-27-2006, 02:19 AM
I know, I love Aaron!! I'm hoping he's still alive, but I don't think so with his phone being left behind etc..
