Hi everyone! I'm Tammy (which seems to be a pretty popular name around this place!) and I just joined WW last Tuesday. I'm 31 and a Kindergarten teacher in south suburban Chicago. I love my job but I think being in Kindergarten has helped in my weight gain over the years. There are always snacks around! I realize, of course, that is not all that did it. I have a hunch it
MAY have something to do with bad eating habits and not enough activity, too, but who wants to actually admit that?!
Anyway, I hit my highest weight in October 2004 when I was a disgusting 214 (at only 5'2"). I lost 5 pounds without realizing it before joining Curves last March. Since then I've lost but at a pretty slow pace so I'd often get frustrated when I got weighed and measured. My friends and I decided that we'd start a 100 mile walking club in December. Each of us were responsible for 20 miles a month. I got jump started because I was suddenly responsible for letting other people down. Turns out I was the only one who did it in December! I had 21.5 miles for the month, though, and even managed to lose 3 pounds over Christmas! That finally put me under 200 and really spurred me on.
I was able to lose a few more so I was at 194.4 at Tuesday's weigh in. I'm a little scared about weigh ins, though. I was 191 on the Curves scale on Saturday but I'm afraid it'll be different on Tuesday
night since Saturday's was a morning weigh in (which I prefer). I've done well with my points, though, this week. Only went over by 4 on Friday night and I felt SO guilty over it. I know I have the 35 extra points for the week but I didn't want to use them and beat myself up over it until I was down on the scale Saturday morning. The guilt of sometimes going over my 24 will be a hard mindset to get out of, I think.
But I've got a good support system. My mom joined with me and the teachers I eat lunch with have been very helpful. Treat day Fridays will be tough. I didn't touch that table full of chocolates this week, though! And the girl who did lunch brought Healthy Choice lunch meats for me.
I've been doing 2.5 miles 5 nights a week on the treadmill (running 1.5 of those!) and going to Curves 2-3 timesa week. I'm hoping with that and a good support system at home, work and hopefully here with you guys, I'll be on my way to a healthy weight and at least a single digit sized pants!
So sorry this was so long and very babbley! I tend to do that. Consider this your warning! Looking forward to getting to know you all!
