Everything else gets worked at the gym, except my abs. Lemme know what your favorites are, please?? :^: DancingAngel 01-20-2006, 04:44 PM QuickFix has a DVD containing 9 10-minute abs workouts. They range from traditional crunches to Pilates to stability ball to kickbox, etc. You can choose the ones you want to do or you can use the "Randomizer" and be surprised. I like it lots! DJ 01-28-2006, 10:21 AM The Core videos have really good abs, and one tape is just abs, but you need to but the ball, which I love lizzbabe 01-28-2006, 11:18 AM The Self Get Fit Fast Abs DVD was surprisingly good and had some new moves that I hadn't seen before. It utilizes standing positions as well as the traditional lying down ones. Fitzriley 01-31-2006, 11:36 AM I love the 8 Minute Abs video. So does my husband. He does the routine twice to get a 16 minute quick workout. Also comes with 8 minute arms video. marinemommyof2 01-31-2006, 12:33 PM I like "Jiggle Free Abs" from the Firm. It's about 20-25 minutes of abwork. Nori71 02-03-2006, 05:55 PM I like "Jiggle Free Abs" from the Firm. It's about 20-25 minutes of abwork. Hi there, Sarah - where did you get this one? Probably from the company? On Amazon it's not released until April 6th. I went ahead a pre-ordered it. I can use all the help I can get for my abs! I've been doing the abs workout on Express Workout: Belly, Butt and Thighs - it's put out by Prevention (Rodale). It has 3 10 minutes segments - abs, thighs, and butt - and you can do all three or just 1. It's pretty intense and includes standing crunches as well as Pilates moves. I see results already. fitdiva24 02-08-2006, 02:26 PM I like Abs of Steel it comes on DVD with Buns of Steel. There are 3 15 minutes workouts for each on the DVD, so I do my abs 3x's a week. After the first week I could feel the results!! But then I slacked off, I'm starting back on it today. SheriaVa 02-17-2006, 11:18 PM My favorites are the abs portion of Tamilee Webb's "I Want That Body!" DVD (the DVD includes abs, arms and buns) and the Quickfix Total Mix DVD (which is also called Quickfix Core Abs). Tami's DVD contains 2 abs workouts of 15 minutes each at 2 skill levels. The beginner workout was advanced enough that, when I first started it a year or two ago, I couldn't get through it. The advanced is so advanced that, a year or so later, I still can't manage it. But that's more about my body's inability to do those things as it is my fitness level. The Quickfix DVD is a series of 10-minute workouts that focus on core/abs. Another workout that uses abs alot but doesn't really bill itself as an abs workout is Pilates for Weight Loss. Awesome workout (filmed on Maui) that works out every part of your body (down to your toes!) but focuses mostly on abs/core strength. Nori71 02-24-2006, 09:34 PM So a few weeks ago I posted on this thread that I was using the Prevention dvd for my "extra" ab workout. Then I started using Tamilee's "I Want That Body!" dvd and don't think I'll be using the Prevention one anymore. WOW! I've only managed the beginner segments in all 3 sections - haven't even looked at the advanced yet. erlyna 02-25-2006, 05:35 PM I also recommend the 8 minute abs, if you're getting that go ahead and order the box set which comes with the buns, abs, arms and legs. They're great videos corny cos they were made back in the day, but short intense workouts. They also come with extras like aerobics, which I would like to try. I also just bought and tried yesterday the Carmen Electra striptease dvd #2. The others are supposed to be the strip ones and the 2nd one contains the work outs which enhance your body for the routines. I am sore today, it was a great workout and I could only do part of the cardio. There is also an upper and lower body workout. SheriaVa 02-26-2006, 01:51 PM Another workout I just rented from Netflix this week that isn't specifically an abs workout but definitely works them--Island Girl: Tahitian Cardio. It's basically instruction in the Tahitian Hula but done in a way that keeps the action going all the time and with a warm-up and cool-down. I wouldn't call it cardio in the same way I'd call Tae-Bo cardio...it got me sweating a little but I wasn't drenched and exhausted when I finished. HOWEVER...WOW, did I feel it in my abs and legs! I knew the hula greatly involved the hips and legs but I didn't realize how much the abs were involved in all that hip swivelling! It was fun and very challenging (esp. at full speed--WHOA!). Nori71 03-02-2006, 07:43 PM SheriaVa - I have that Tahitian Cardio dvd and while I don't count it as a full cardio workout, I agree it is a great ab workout! I was in Hawaii last year and went to a couple hula classes and had a great time plus noticed how quickly I started sweating. Back to the dvd--everything is so pretty about it too! The location, the flowers, the outfits, the girls! I enjoy it once in awhile for a change from my normal. I don't have the whole routine down smoothly yet. Probably if I did it for a solid week I could remember it... SheriaVa 03-03-2006, 09:48 AM I was in Hawaii last year and went to a couple hula classes and had a great time plus noticed how quickly I started sweating. I'm heading to Hawaii soon (Kauai specifically). How did you go about finding hula classs while you were there? That sounds like great fun! I don't have the whole routine down smoothly yet. Probably if I did it for a solid week I could remember it... Yea, I only did it twice before I sent the DVD back to Netflix. I just got another one in the mail today--a more basic Hula one I think. The only part of the Tahitian Cardio routine that I think I got down pretty well was the Tahitian bump. I got the umi, the figure 8 and the sway down pretty well when I'm standing still but have a terrible time moving and doing them at the same time! LOL Nori71 03-03-2006, 04:29 PM I was on Kauai! When are you going? Have you been before? It was so much fun. One of my sisters got married there - in Hanalei. My aunt and uncle live there (almost at the end of the road before Ke'e Beach) and she attends regularly, so I'm not sure if she signed us up or paid anything? I "think" it was open to the public though - it was right downtown. You just wrap a sarong on (which are soooo cheap there), or go in what you're wearing. If you are going to be there, I can get more info for you from my aunt. Yes, I do have the bump down and the rest of the moves. BUT, it's doing the moves while turning around in a circle htat have me confused! And I cannot manage all the hand movements when I'm concentrating on the footwork (really ab and butt work!). SheriaVa 03-03-2006, 06:00 PM I was on Kauai! When are you going? Have you been before? It was so much fun. One of my sisters got married there - in Hanalei. Wow! Small world. I'm going to be staying in a house in Princeville, which is just down the road from Hanalei! :) Unfortunately, I'm going to be leaving too soon for you to contact your aunt and get back to me, but I do appreciate the information you provided. I will look around while I'm there and see what I can find. I'm vacationing with 4 friends and we only have 1 rental car, so I may not be able to do it anyway. But I'll look! Nori71 03-03-2006, 09:34 PM It was at the "community center" building in downtown (small town) Hanalei. Have fun! Princeville was great. The main hotel there is amazing! Helicopter tours are great! Go up the Na Pali Coast on a boat, Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge, Waimea Canyon, National Tropical Botanical Garden, Wailua Falls...and of course just relax!! There was some other stuff we didn't get to. We didn't do too much on the West Coast. illinichick 03-04-2006, 11:32 PM I really really like the Billy Blanks Boot Camp Ab video... 35 minutes of abs that goes fairly quickly... You can DEFINITELY feel it the next day, but in a good way ;) isabee03 03-09-2006, 03:38 PM I like Ab Jam from the Turbo Jam series. Nori71 03-15-2006, 01:58 PM Wow! Small world. I'm going to be staying in a house in Princeville, which is just down the road from Hanalei! :) Hey, just curious if you are already home or not? Keep hearing about the deadly flooding, highways shut down and dams breaking on the North Shore.:( Hope you are safe. SheriaVa 03-15-2006, 06:13 PM Hey, just curious if you are already home or not? Keep hearing about the deadly flooding, highways shut down and dams breaking on the North Shore.:( Hope you are safe. I am back and safe, and thank you for asking! I was just coming to post about my trip and let you know that I didn't get a chance to hula but I did very much enjoy my trip, despite the last several days being rainy. The road/bridge to Hanalei (north of Princeville) was closed a few times while we were there and again right after we left. The dam that burst and killed people and closed the main highway on the island (Kuhio Hwy.) happened about 36 hours after we flew out. Needless to say, my stomach was doing flips when I read that first article about the dam. Kilauea (where the dam burst) was just down the road from where we were staying--SO scary. My heart goes out to people who were due to fly out on Tuesday because, if they were staying in Princeville or Hanalei, there was no way for them to get to the airport. Someone who is still in Kauai on vacation posted on a Hawaii travel board that the traffic going to the airport was madness--I guess everyone was trying to get out while they could. We had great weather for our helicopter ride over the island, which was stupendous, for our whale watch tour, and for a trip to the Kilauea Lighthouse. We went shopping on the first day of rain, stayed home for the second day (really torrential rain and we were concerned about getting stranded while out and about), and did Waimea Canyon on Saturday, when there was a break from the rain but it was still cloudy and foggy. Thanks again for your concern and for your offer to help with information. Too bad I didn't find you until right before I was leaving! Sheri Nori71 03-15-2006, 06:21 PM Glad you had a good trip and are home safe. Can you believe how much it rains there? It was rainy off and on when we were there also. I spoke with my uncle earlier today and he said they are planning to open the road b/t Hanalei and Princeville one way soon so people can get in and out again. They have a little "Tiki" hut behind their house that they rent out for vacations and they haven't seen their renters in 30 hours or so. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
