Good Morning!
Taz ~ Congratulations again on GB#5. Such a pretty name, too.
Heather ~ I hope you are getting a good night's sleep! How's your little guy doing? Both girls I nanny were sick this past weekend with bad colds and the older one has "pink eye", so I wouldn't be surprised if Maggie gets it, too. It can really wear you out when they're miserable. Thank goodness they were both feeling a little better yesterday. I hope your DS is better soon, too.
I'm just waiting for Curves to open so I can get my workout done for the day. My W&M yesterday was OK, but I lost more in inches than weight. I was hoping for a big weight loss since I was so good on Phase 1, but I only lost 5 lbs. I guess that's not really too bad. At least I took off the lbs I gained over the holidays!

Mornin' fellow chicks. Taz, one of the best ways to get through the snow is to imagine hittin' the beach! Keep working on that tan! Cottage - congrats on taking off the holiday weight!!!!!
I haven't been OP for the past couple of days, so it's time to get back on track. Lots and lots of water today. My goal for the day is to walk by the boxes of Girl Scout cookies at work today...and just keep on walking! :cookie:
Everybody have a great day!

Good morning Taz, Cottage, and Jana!
Taz Congrats again! Babies are so awesome.
Jana Back away from the Thin Mints!!!
Cottage Thanks for the sweet comment this weekend about my avatar. I do love these girlies even though the oldest DD is testing my patience at every single turn. I just keep telling myself that she will be an assertive woman one day- something I am not!
Weekly WI for me this morning. I don't get to move my ticker because I maintained. I am actually fine with that as I didn't have the best food week and TOM hit yesterday. At least there is a reason for my weekend irritability!
Already- I need to get coffee and get these girls woken up. Always a treat at 5:45 in the morning! At least the baby is always glad to see me. :)

Tazcat - is it warming up over there?
cottage - yes, I was sleeping - for a change! Went to bed around 10 and slept about 4 hours or so. DS is better; still gooky-eyed, but not so badly. The thing that threw me off was that he doesn't really have a very bad cold - just some sniffling and a little drip. Ah well, at least he's getting over it.
Jana - yay on the water! I have a hard time getting enough water - I just forget to drink it, even when it's right there next to me.
Kiko - if only they could stay little and smiley!
Ruth - I'd say that hopefully life will return to normal for you soon, but then I realized that I'm not even sure what that is for you! Hopefully things will quiet down soon, at least!
loving mommy - that's awful! Did your DH find his wallet? Hopefully he didn't have much in it?
me - homework and housework as usual today. My eating hasn't been too good the last couple days. I've had some pretty bad tummy pains and bloating, not sure why. I've tried to eat OP, but it makes my tummy feel worse when I do. So I've been eating a lot of starchy things (which don't seem to upset my tummy). I did manage to eat a wee-small-hours snack of some steamed broccoli and green beans, which are the first veggies I've been able to tolerate in a couple days. I made Greek salad last night with spinach and cukes and low-fat feta and so on, but I ate just a few bites before I started to feel worse again. I'm not really feeling much better yet, so I don't know how today will go. "One day at a time, Ethel, I take it one day at a time."

Mornin'! Well, ladies, I was good at the restaurant yesterday. I had a salad w/ light ranch dressing and grilled shrimp w/ veggies. Yummy! It felt good to come out of a restaurant not feeling all bloated and yucky. Today will be a busy day. I have both my classes today and one of them runs until 8:15 so I'll come home later to put something in the crockpot for dinner.
I spent sooo much money yesterday shopping w/ my friend. I think I'm going to return this jacket and purse I bought at LaneBryant. I don't know! It's a $70 jacket that I got for $20 but it's slightly too big for me. The smallest shirt size they have there usually doesnt fit since my body is so disproportionately humungous on the lower half. The purse is so cool bohemian style with jewels all over it. It was only $20 too...1/2 off. Plus I got a pair of pants that are too tight on me but are funky and only $12 so I will keep them as my inspiration pants :D . They had some great sales there!
Kyemom: My reunion w/ my dog went great. Thanks for asking. The first day she was a little disoriented but has since settled back into her usual naughtyness :) ! How's your puppy doing?
taz: STay warm in the snow. It's supposed to snow here tomorrow and I will be out in the woods for my research. How fun, I'm looking forward to it. I love the snow.
cottage: 5 lbs is great! Good for you!
jana: I'm sending you good will power vibes today :vibes: ! :D! Keep truckin' right past those evil cookies.
kiko: Better to maintain than gain! You'll show a loss next weekend...I borrowed Schatzi's crystal ball to check for ya! :D
Loving: Good luck on P1. You'll feel great. Keep it up.
H-ko: Glad to hear that your baby's doing better. How are you holding up with your classes? Are they online classes?
Have a great day everyone! Stay OP!!
H-ko
01-17-2006, 10:03 AM
pearshape - yes, they are online classes, but it looks like this is probably the last quarter I'll be able to take my classes online as the math, science, and engineering classes I need to take now are not offered online. :( I loved my online classes, too....

Morning all!
Went for a nice long walk last night in the rain. As a native of Seattle I don't let rain stop me from walking. Other than that things are going pretty good. I'm really pumped to stay OP now that I've passed the 5lb mark.
Here's to a great day everybody!

Taz - Babies are so wonderful. Congratulations!
cottage - Five pounds is a good loss for phase 1. And the loss of inches is great!
Jana - We're still in the ordering Girl Scout cookie stage. I made sure to order the kinds my DH and Brian really like and not the ones I love the most so hopefully I can avoid them.
Kiko - Your girls are beautiful! TOM started for me yesterday too. At least I did make it to the gym.
ruth - See you later!
loving mommy - Sorry about the loss of the wallet. That must have really been upsetting.
Heather - I felt like that a few weeks ago. Lots of gas and bloating. GasX helped, I think, but I mostly had to just wait it out. At first I thought it was from increasing my cruciferous veggies so much but I ended up deciding it was a virus since DH and Brian had something similar. Just eat what you can.
Morning, Schatzi and Kyemom
pearshape - Good going at the restaurant.
me - I'm working from home today. I'm fixing a wonderful phase 2 lamb stew for dinner. It cooks for several hours and tastes so good! Tonight is a den meeting so I probably won't be able to make it to the gym but at least I got there for an hour last night.

I'd so love to go to the gym this morning but my little Calvin's nose won't stop running, so that means I need to wait 'til DH comes home...hopefully I'll still be motivated!!
I spent last night scouring the recipes board here and checking out all the phase 1 recipes. Boy am i excited to start cooking. Tnight we'll be having chinese. Hot and Sour soup, unwrapped dumplings, ginger chicken stir-fry...yummmmmmyy
haven't cheated at least I don't think I have so I'm feeling pretty good here on day 4.

seachick - just watch out for mudslides! ;)
barb - I think you're right. It's certainly not from increasing my intake of crucifers - I've loved crucifers all my life and eat them in plentiful quantities.

Good Morning Ladies:)
Gee!! You all so BUSY,BUSY,BUSY. I slowed down, after having a busy weekend. The weather is a little better whan it was yesterday, not as cold, but still not good for walking along the beach.
Didn't:nono: have a good day eatingwise {snacks} :corn: :cheese: :cookie: , being so cold I was looking for comfort foods and when I didn't find them,I ate everything in sight.UGHHH!! Hope it doesn't interfer with my W-I on Saturday.
Taz-Have a great day grandmother of #5. Be careful of the ice & snow.
Cottage- Big congrats :cheer:on 5lbs. No, you shouldn't complain, you did good.
Jana-Your right:yes: to walk by the Girl Scout:cookie: Cookies, they'll only get you in trouble.
KiKo-You maintained:cheers:,thats better than a gain, you'll Whosssssh by next weekend, with a loss.
Hi  Ruth, we'll se you later.
Lovingmommy-Sorry:sorry: that your DH lost his wallet. Yikes!!! :yikes: hope he didn't have all his papers in it, thats the pits trying to get dupicates made. That would make anyone over eat.
Heather-BROCCOLI can be very gassy, thats for sure. Try Cozy Chamomile Herb Tea for the tummy ache.Try to eat lite today, and than call the doctor. He can advse you more.
Hi:wave: schazti ,Have fun with your crafts & kyemom see you later.
Pearshape- I not into fashion but if it a little big, that great just in case you wear something heavy under that jacket. You don't want to be to snug. From $70 marked down to $20 that a great deal.

I'm back from my workout, and did a little tidying-up around here. We were discussing what to make for supper at Curves, and I told them I was going to try the Cola Chicken, and now almost everybody there is going to make it tonight! I guess tomorrow we'll compare our ratings on it. It's funny, we're all there to exercise and lose weight, but all we talk about is food!
Speaking of food, yesterday the girls wanted to bake a chocolate cake, so we made one, and I let them frost and decorate it to their little heart's content. Then they had the great idea that it should be a "birthday cake", so they brought down all their stuffed animals and dolls, and we sang Happy Birthday and blew out candles. It was pretty cute and fun. I wish I had thought to take pictures. And yes, I ate some, too! I'm back on track today though. I had scrambled eggs with turkey bacon for breakfast, and I have some SB Coleslaw and Split Pea Soup for my lunch, and we're having the Cola Chicken with sauteed cabbage and green beans for supper.
I gotta run for now, I have to stop and put some gas in the car before I pick up the girls. Have a great OP day!

Oh, and my weight lifting class went well :barbell: . It was really hard to walk to my car afterwards - my muscles were so shakey & I am very sore today but I did it! Tonight is step arobics.
Thank you all for being here and for your tips and advice. It's helped a bunch! :thanks:

Heather-
I noticed in another post that you don't like the fake sugars. I hate them and the aftertaste. What do you eat when you want a treat? I found I can actually tolerate the sugar free popsicles but I'd like to do something more than tolerate, ya know?

I DID IT!!!!! :carrot:
I finally got past day one...now I know for those of you who did not read my rant about being too much of a perfectionist to be on this diet I must sound like a madwoman. I have been trying to start since Jan 2 and one by one all my best attempts have been foiled. I was feeling really down about it, so I just used it for motivation.
Day one went well for me. I even managed to squeeze in broccoli and a salad which for a veggie hater like me is mind boggling. I got to craving for these new peanut butter hershey kisses I saw on t.v. I am a very simple girl cannot cook to save my life and also very broke right now so I mixed my 2 tbs peanut butter with 2 tbs FF Cool Whip for a substitute. Let me tell you ladies, it was soooooooo good. Light Fluffy and Peanut Buttery! You should try it.
JanaM - girl scout cookies are the devil, especially in an office environment. It is all you can do not to order the fattening little things, then 2 weeks later when they are delivered you find out one of your office buddies ordered some thin mints and will power goes out the window (not speaking from personal experience or anything lol - purely hypothetical)
Kiko - I know we all want to see the pounds go bon voyage but with TOM and a little non OP eating maintenance is impressive :)
seachick - props to you for braving the rain for a walk. I would love to walk in the rain, it is always so soothing and relaxing - but then again always so darn cold (I am a wuss when it comes to cold...and I live in freakin Colorado - go figure)
batmomm2000 - Thats great day 4 and things seem to be going like a charm! I think if you take the attitude that you ARE GOING to the gym and ditch the MAYBE I AM GOING your mind will be more apt to follow through. They say to treat workouts like appts, so they are too important to miss...you are worth it my dear.
Ok well here is to another OP day. Started out with Scrambled Eggs with LF cheese, 1% Milk, and ofcourse my staple...V8. Good luck today chickies!

Good morning ladies...
It's cold and raining here. My one son is sick and the other is teething. Thankfully, my husband decided to stay home from work today. I'm kinda frustrated that the scale hasn't moved since I have still been working out everyday for at least 40-55 min. Yesterday I got in an hour on the eliptical and I was really pumping! Grrr! Also, I haven't cheated once! The only thing I can think of is that I am missing my snacks, so I'll try to make sure I get that in today.
Gotta go feed the crew...I'll check back in later!

Good Mornin' Ya'll
tazcat--CONGRATS on the new grand baby!!!
Jana--girl scout cookies are the devil, as Stephie said. I need to stay away from the walmart area, the girls always hang out to sell them and I can't say no to their little faces. But I'll eat a whole box, so noooooo to cookies this year!!!
Pear--I went to Lane Bryant last Thurs myself. Our store is relocating and they were marking an additional 50% off and I went crazy. Most of my pants are so big and I have been putting off buying new ones. But I got dress pants for $13. I'm wearing one pair today and I didn't notice it but you can definitely see a panty line. But they fit everywhere? I guess I'll put these up and wiat for another 5-10lbs to come off? I also got a pair of funky jeans, they are so much fun.
cottage--the animal bday party sounds like fun!! I too indulged in choc cake yesterday :o A lady in the office turned 50 and I bought her a cake and I knew I should have just got a card, but it was her 50th I had to do somehting special. And I caved, but only one piece!!!!!
Stephie--that's great...your first op day. Once you get the desire to stay op you'll do wonderful. Look who's talking, I had a pc of choc cake yesterday!!!!
Me...doing pretty good. The scale moved down 5 lbs the other day and has gradually moved back up. Must be the cake :dizzy:
I've got to talk to my brother this week (for those who don't know..he moved in w/ us due to divorce) Every weekend he has gotten his daughter, and I love my niece dearly but man...DH & I need some time to ourselves, he works 3rd shift and the only time we have together is the weekends. I don't know how I'm going to tell him, how can I say he can't have his daughter come over? I am going to suggest that he go to the parents house for the weekend at least once a month. What do you all think? I jsut don't want to offend him. We'll see, keep your fingers crossed for me.
Been a little bad here lately ie..choc cake yesterday. And today I did a fitday figure of my calories for today's food. I didn't think I was doing that bad but I had mock french toast for b'fast and left over taco bake for lunch and w/ my snacks I'm going to be over 1000 calories even before dinner? I guess I need to plan a little better. Gonna go work on that now, it's really slow in the office today.
Ya'll have a great day!!! ;)

Just a quickie today. It's snowing here and is such a gray day. Worked yesterday and have today off, then go the next three. I know I'm a woosie, but 12 hour shifts do me in. Need to get housework done today.
I blew it yesterday, horrible day at work and didn't ever get time to sit down and eat so I fell back into the habit of "throwing food in my mouth". Not sure how to solve that one. It would help if our manager would see that not one of us got to eat and make sure she can get off her rear to take over while we can.
Well, I'm off, congrats to all you losers!

Tammy - I haven't been in that situation myself, but maybe just sit down with your brother, tell him you need to find a way to get some time alone with your DH, and ask him for some suggestions? That way you won't be so likely to hurt his feelings, and it will also include him in the process, rather than telling him what's what. I expect he is feeling overwhelmed right now, and I'm sure he'd understand your situation and appreciate your tact and consideration.

Afternoon, kids. I'm just not doing well today. I laid awake from 10:00 until after 1:30 last night (Ruthie, is it contagious?) and I don't know why. PMS is hitting me hard, so I'm wondering if that's part of it. Then I finally fell asleep, and woke up this morning with a headache that will not go away. It's on the top of my head, and I'm not usually a headachey kind of person. I got to work, ate my breakfast, drank my tea (I figured caffeine would do the trick,) and finally broke down and took Advil at 9:30. One more hour until I can take anything else, and the Advil I already took didn't do squat. I also have had to force-feed myself because I just don't feel like eating (and you all know that's not like me at all. I love to eat.)
Man PMS is getting me bigtime this month. I'm just a raving :censored: today. I'm getting angry at everyone and everything. The phone ringing is making me angry, things falling over on my desk are making me angry, my friends are making me angry, and you all KNOW that Terry is making me angry.
I've been fairly busy at work today, so the day is going by quickly. I just hope that my headache goes away and I feel better later on. I have kickboxing tonight and I really don't want to skip it.
Well, enough whining. Hope you all are doing better than I am today. I wish I could curl up under my desk and take a nap, but I think they might frown upon that. I'll post more if I feel better later.

Good Morning Ladies!
I am back from sunning myself on vacation, had a wonderful time, ate to much but walked sooooo much so I was thrilled to weigh in this morning and see a loss on the scale. Yahoo!!! But now I can feel sugar getting it's grip back on me so I am 100% OP today and doing a modified Phase 1 for the next few days just to get myself over it.
Hope everyone is well.

I got that whole curse thing going on this week as well. Surprisingly it's not botherng my as much as usual except that I am craving sweets which is norm for me during this week. I might not loose any weight this week so I hope the scale at least stays where it is.
I'm glad there are people so honest about their slip ups here. It lessens the guilt for me about my own and less guilt means less of a chance for an all out binge and dive off SBD and back to normal crappy eating habits.
I hope everyone has a goodnights sleep and a good day tomorrow. :^:

Hey Ladies
I worked from home today and was still swamped! very little sleep last night and just general life frustration.
I'm not following any plan right now. . .I need sanity time for me and some time for DH so
I'm not throwing healthy eating out the window I'm just not OCD and have some quick stuff to grab so I don't end up with the bagel monster
I'm also writing down everything that goes in my mouth
I will say I had a NSV I started towards the kitchen to get "some food" and I realized I was doing this b/c I was bored SO I sat down at the puter.
My goal is to be mindful of what goes in my mouth and why
But I'm still posting here!
