Oy, my week is off to a fantastic start  - I've got a short paper due in less than eight hours on the concept of the "generalized other" for my social psych class, and DS is sick. Something is wrong with his eye - some kind of infection. It's not pink eye - there's no redness or swelling or anything like that, but it does look a little odd in an indefinable way, and it's pretty gunky. Plus he's feverish. His cousin had an eye infection last week, and since they are in the same daycare, I'm guessing that's where it came from. On top of that, he started crying and crying about an hour or so after we put him to bed, and when I checked on him, he was standing in his crib, half dressed, holding out his diaper and pants (which he'd removed), and with a big puddle on his linens (and rivulets running down his legs, too). I called DH, who popped him into the tub for a quickie bath and started washing his bedding - he didn't have any spares, since he'd just wet his bedding a few days back, and I hadn't had a chance to wash it yet. Worse still, his snuggy blanky was in the puddle, so he had to go to bed without it. We put him into our bed with DH, and I stayed up to do laundry. Once his bedding was washed and dried, I made his crib up again and popped him into his own bed with his soft, clean snuggy. By then, he was very hot, so I dosed him with Infant's Tylenol and gave him some cold water to drink. Then I was finally able to get to work on reading the material for my paper (which I just finished).
Ugh! I hope it gets better from here out! I have to either get DS an appt tomorrow (if the clinic is open - I don't know if they are closed for MLK, Jr Day or not) or else run him into the walk-in. He's going to be exhausted, so that'll be a challenge, either way. I do hope it's nothing much, since we don't have insurance (plus I just don't want him to be sick, poor boy!).
Anyway, that how my day is starting. I may have to give up on any hope of sleep tonight/this morning. Que sera, sera....

Heather, I am so sorry about your wee one. I hope you can manage to get through today, remembering your priorities.
Taz, congratulations new Grandma! I love the name!
Back later after coffee, breakfast, car moving and getting the guys cranked up. They want the furnace off today and it's darn cold without it so I'll be throwing wood into the woodstove. It's below 0ºF again!

Good Morning!!! Haven't had much time to spare this weekend. I am off today but I wanted to stay at least sort of on my sleep schedule so I am up and ready to battle my treadmill this morning ;)
This is officially my last day on phase one...except I had a crazy weekend. I got invited by friends to a movie this Sunday. I have been avoiding temptations like that for two weeks. I said yes. I knew I would be unable to resist the popcorn if it was right there so I did some excuse making and some meal rearranging on Saturday and then on Sunday I ate the movie popcorn with the butter :sssh: Problem is, as usual, that made it okay to also have some of my friends chocholate candy and a few gummy bears :ink: No Will Power What-so-ever!!!
I felt yucky the rest of the night. I had a great veggie and chicken homemade stirfry for dinner. I slept terrible all night either from all that sugar or from all that guilt. I have decided that I will attempt to remain on Phase one for a few extra days before I add anything.
It wasn't worth it and I will try to remind myself that next time. I am also going to resist the weighing on the scale this morning in case I did Not gain weight. I wouldn't want not gaining to encorage me to continue to eat like that :tape:
I also wanted to welcome all the new comers that started over the weekend :woo:
My other big news. I have made a crazy decision. I am going to get my hair cut really short for the first time since I was a child!!! Yikes, wish me luck.
H-KO - sounds like it's been rough. I've been there and I hope your DS and DH are better soon.
Tazcat - Major Congrats to you!!!
Good Morning Everyone Else.

Taz - Congrats on the new little one!!!
H-Ko - Hope your DS feels better quickly, and that you get to get some rest!
Freaky - There must be something in the air. You're getting your hair cut really short. I got my hair permed over the weekend, and today I'm going to get my ears pierced. Guess we're both looking for a change.
Well, no national holiday for this chickee. Got to go to work today. Made my coffee yesterday, so it's time to throw it into the microwave. :coffee: Everyone have a great day!

JanaM: Enjoy your day!

Freaky: I think you are going to look quite chic with short hair..Go fer it! Good thing about hair,, it grows ! Drink yer water to flush out that popcorn and butter!
Good Morning Ruth!
I've been procrastinating on finishing up my resume... Geez, all I haveta do is add my last job to it.. but I can't seem to get it worded the way I want. Now that DH has found a "home" with this new job...(well, they still need to negotiate salary..but we're 99% sure that he is in and will take the job) I can define my job search area better..No way am I going back to 3 +hour daily commutes!!
Now then, WHERE Is my IV DRIP??? :coffee: I need Cawfee STAT!!!
H-ko
01-16-2006, 08:25 AM
Schatzi - can I have some IV caffeine, too?
DS has woken up crying several times since the start of this thread. He's just miserable (and so are we, come to think on it) - poor thing. Still little or no redness (hard to tell which, since he won't stop rubbing it), but it was pretty crusty earlier. I did manage to get my discussion paper written, but it is definitely no masterpiece! I don't even know if I understood the concept correctly, especially since everyone else in my group had a different idea than I did. Oh well! I tacked a note on at the start to comment that my toddler was sick, and I was too exhausted to think straight so please be gentle with me! I'm off to bed now - DH's alarm will go off in 30 minutes so it hardly seems worthwhile to try to sleep, but I'm too tired to resist. I just hope DS is better for daycare tomorrow - I have homework due, and I just can't do much while he's up and about (wonder why...), let alone sick.

HKO, maybe he has dirt or an eye lash in his eye? Did you try an eyewash? Like saline or contact rinse solution?
Kiko
01-16-2006, 09:32 AM
H Ko I feel your pain- it is so hard when they are sick. Especially when you are exhausted! Ear infection maybe? That was always my DD- she couldn't sleep, fever. Hopefully you can get him into the pedi today.
Taz Congrats!! A new baby girl.
Freaky I am impressed that you got right back on the wagon and had an OP dinner. You didn't let your slip up go out of control.
No school for us today! I am just going to try and get the rest of this house in some order and finish laundry. We are going to get together with a friend and her son so DD can at least do something fun today. She wasn't the best behaved yesterday at my mom's. Many days I have a tremendous amount of patience when she acts this way- yesterday, not so much.
Have a great day all!!!

H-ko: Sorry to hear about your rough night. I hope your son gets better. Poor little guy. Good luck with your paper.
Taz: CongRATs on the baby! Who's is it again? Is it your neice?
Ruth: Brrr!! Stay warm today. We haven't had much of a winter here at all this year. I do hope we get a good snow once or twice before it's over. I love snow but I guess that comes from growing up in HI where there is none.
Freaky: Yaay! Almost to P2. Just remember to add fruits and good carbs back slowly. You'll do great!!
Schatzziarrrrino: Good luck with the resume. I worked in the same field and for only 2 companies for 12 years before quitting to go full time in school a few years ago. So, this means I have 0 experience with resumes. I'm not looking forward to it this summer when I have to start sending them out. Maybe I'll send you mine and you can be my proof-reader :D !!
Kiko: Can I send you some of my laundry? I'll trade baby-sitting for laundry duty :D !
Kyemom::carrot: WooHoo! Another pound! CongRATs!
Ok, it's fess up time, ladies! I weighed in this am after about a month and a half of not weighing myself. I weighed a whoping 213. Yes, 213! And that's after a week of a good P1. I didn't weigh myself before so I have no idea what I started out at. I feel like I undid all the good I did last year but I can't let that get me down. All I can do is be extra good this year. I will be at my goal by the end of the year when I'm done with grad school. It will be like a new me starting a new path in life.
Today my friend and I are hanging out since we haven't seen each other since I've been back from CA. We're going to lunch and to do some shopping and maybe a movie. We're going to TGIFriday's and I know they have some healthy things I can order. I will have will power and I will be good at lunch!
So it's the second week of P1 for me. I always am amazed at how P1 can just zap the sugar cravings right out of me. It's so true that having proper blood chemistry just changes everything. This week I have to work on more water and keep up with the walking. I will also add in my exercise video with weights every other day. Send good vibes my way ladies and I'll do the same for you! We can do this!

Morning chicks! It is a national holiday but I decided to come on campus to get a little bit of work done. Most of the buildings are locked up and get this - the BATHROOMS in my building are locked up! Which probably means most of the ones on campus are. If I have to GO I may have to GO HOME! How lame is that!? Maybe some higher power is trying to tell me, "Psst, Christina, take a day off." At least it's beautiful weather :sunny: so maybe I'll go for a nice walk outside later! Have a great day on the beach :beach: everyone!
HKo ~ I'm so sorry that your son isn't feeling well! :( I hope he recovers soon!
Tazcat ~ Congrats! :bb: Little ones are such a blessing!
Ruth ~ Stay warm! That cold sounds INTENSE! :faint: And a happy belated birthday :balloons: to you!
Freaky ~ I know what you mean about willpower. There was a church group dinner (at a :jeno: place) last night, and even though I planned my meals so I wouldn't be TOO hungry by then, I ended up having a slice! Then one slice turned into two, two into three. Luckily I didn't rationalize eating any breadsticks! Have fun getting your new 'do!
Soon2BeFab ~ Hope your early meeting was successful!
JanaM ~ Good morning! I hope you have a good day at work!
Schatzi ~ Good luck getting the resume finished! :write: That is never fun, but I'm sure it's going to look great when you're finished!

Heather - I sure hope your son feels better. I think the lack of sleep was the hardest thing for me when my son was little.
Taz - Congratulations!
Ruth - Sounds like a good day for bundling up in blankets and sipping SF hot cocoa. I am a real wimp when it comes to cold - even Dallas' version of cold ;)
freaky - Next time sneak in some OP snack. Maybe some nuts or raw veggies. Or chew gum. I love short hair. You'll have to put up a new picture.
soon2B and jana - I'm at work too but I've got my hot tea.
Schatzi - I hate doing resumes. I don't know what I would do if I ever got laid off. I just never know how to word what I do.
Kiko - Brian is at day care today so he'll have someone to play with. DH told me they were going to be going to a field trip today but he didn't sign him up since he didn't know what I was going to be doing (He KNOWS I had had to work!). I remembered there was a field trip but still forgot to put him in his field trip shirt and didn't even know it was a skating trip so he didn't have his rollerblades. Oh, well, I called DH and he will just have to bring him his shirt and rollerblades. At least they don't leave until after lunch. You asked about the Mexican restaurant. We didn't end up going. DH thought we should save the money since we had to pay the annual train club dues. I was kind of disappointed. I was looking forward to going out. I know it was healthier to eat the pork tenderloin but I ended up having to defrost it in the microwave since I hadn't planned on cooking.
kyemom - Congratulations on resisting the party food!
pearshape - You can do it. Have fun at Friday's.
Bridget - Happy Birthday!!
beach bum - Stay warm
caity - I envy people who scrapbook. It looks so nice. I'm just not that creative.
rnmom - I love sweet potatoes. They were one of the first things I added back on phase 2.
Christina - I can't believe they would lock the bathrooms up! That is just so inconsiderate.
Me - I had a wonderful weekend seeing my Wood Badge patrol again. Today it is actually rainy. I doubt if we will get enough to affect the burn bans but maybe there won't be any new fires today.

Morning all!
Even though I had a rough week last week I managed to lose 1.4 lbs. so I am happy!
Can anyone here tell me how to change the weight on my tracker without creating a new one? I am having the worst time with this site doing just that.
Thanks!
Yowza, good morning girls! Another GLORIOUS day! (I don't have to work.) Plus, the weather is going to be fantastic today. 53 and sunshine or something. This is my kind of winter! Of course, it's supposed to be rain with snow overnight, and snow tomorrow, but back in the 40's Wed-Fri. I just can't complain about 40's and 50's with 2 days of 30's and snow in between.
I woke up today and I'm stiff as a board. Lifting weights does this to me. I felt pretty good yesterday but today, my shoulders, chest, and glutes are just screaming. I don't even know what I did to my glutes. But I believe my body is used to me working out so it's willing to drop weight because I lost another 1.5 lbs!!! I don't really COUNT the .5, but that's alright. I'm down another pound, and that's all I care about. I need a good jump start here in January because I know it's going to be harder and harder to lose weight in the next couple of months.
Molly and I are going shopping and to Panera for dinner tonight. It should be a great day! Old Navy has all kinds of 50% off stuff, and I have gift cards, so we should have a fun time. It's amazing how much healthy stuff Panera has. I just checked out their website and they have all the nutritional info posted. I think I'm going to have the You Pick Two and get the vegetarian garden vegetable soup, a 5 oz fresh fruit cup, and a whole grain baguette. That's a good-sized meal for 4 WW points (and those of you on Ph2 could have it, too, I would imagine.)
OK here goes nothing.
H-ko: Sorry to hear about DS. Sounds like he's in a lot of pain. Hope you can get him to be seen today!
Taz: WOO HOO! Finally the bouncing baby girl (why do they say "bouncing baby?") has arrived! Congratulations Proud Grandma!
Ruthie: That's awesome that you're finally sleeping until a normal hour! I slept in until 9:30 the last 3 days and it feels fantastic. Obviously I needed to "catch up" on my sleep. Glad to hear you're getting back to normal!
Freaky: Oh, the decision to cut your hair.... I hate that decision. I always go through it because I'll grow my hair out really long and then be like "I'm so SICK of this!" or "I need a change" and hack it all off. I'll like the new cut, but then after a few months of that style, I'll decide to grow it back out. Good luck with your tough decision!
HI SOON!
Jana: Have fun at work. *SNORK* I'm teasing, I'm teasing. I'm working out and cleaning house today before shopping and dinner, so I'm getting plenty of work in, myself.
Schnatzo: Good luck finishing up that resume! I know it can be tough. I always know what I'm trying to say (because I know what my job duties were) but I can't get them to come out right on paper. CAWFEE NOW!!!
Kiko: Have fun with the play date!
Kyemom: I bet you just feel great after all the gushing over how skinny you've gotten! I understand your mantra.... I used to have "I WILL BE SKINNY!" underneath my avatar. I changed it to an actual GOAL goal to make me focus more. Congrats!
Pear: Way to have goals, girlie. I'm extremely proud of your positive attitude and determination. That's awesome!
Caity: Nothing wrong with taking a day for yourself! Most people are working so hard all the time that they feel guilty when they take time to sit and relax when they have the chance. I'm over that whole thing. I work 5 jobs, so when I get a chance to chill out, I'm going to! Good for you girl!
RNMOM: Congratulations! Hurray for Ph2!
Christina: Hey. Psssst. Take the day off.
Barb: Glad you had a great weekend!
Seachick: You just have to go into your signature, and when you look at all the garbage typed up, you'll see 183/177/155 in there. Change the 177 to whatever your current weight is. Congrats on the loss!
Well, off to have breakfast and then do my new Biggest Loser DVD Workout (thanks Soon!) I'm extremely excited! Everyone have a great day!

Hey Party People- I technically finished phase 1 yesterday, but I think I'm gonna stick with it for a few days more. I very suprisingly lost 3 more lbs- I kept getting back on and off the scale, like- "this cant be right". it feels great- though i dont think i look any different.
I'm very nervous to start phase 2. I just feel like I could rationalize cheating with it- know what I mean? "my ice cream has real pieces of strawberry... that's ok, right? RIGHT?" wish me luck!

Hi Chicks:)
I'm back again. The wind is still blowing, once the wind stops the temps won't be that bad. I lost 1.5 this Saturday also.
Heather-Sorry :sorry:about your son being sick, the little ones always get sick when they in day care, nursery school or kindergarden. My DD has four:bb: and I know what your going though you poor thing. Try to take a nap while hes sleeping.
Taz-Congrats & best wishes to your and your new :bb:granddaughter.
Kye- Congrats:cheer: on your 1 lb. weight loss.
Pearshape-Congrats:cheers: on your weight loss also, Gee !! This is a great week for all the losers. Keep up the good work.
Christina-Working on a holiday,Wow What ambition, have fun walking this afternoon.Wish I could but I'd be blown :rain: away like Mary Poppins if I did that.
Barb-Thats sounds scary living in a area where there so many:flame: fires. Keep safe.
Seachick-Congrat :cheers:on your 1.4 weight loss
Weezle- I'm trying to keep warm:flame:, but its going to be hard until the wind stops blowing. Gee!! another 1.5 that excellent:cheer: your doing great.
Beaching-Big Congrats:cheer: on your fab 3 lb loss, the only advice go very SLOWLY into Phase 2,by that I mean add 1 carb[same one] a day for a whole week and if you lost had another carb for the second week, and if you stalled :( or gained  take that carb away from menu and add another, and you should be fine. I made the mistake of adding too many carbs back in a day.
Hugs :) BB

wow some of you get up early! jmaybe it's the time zone thing, no school here so we lazed in bed 'til 9:30!!! The boys of course trashed the playroom but sometimes ya gotta sleep.
So far I'm really excited about the whole life change going on here with the healthy eating. There've been a few things I've wanted but that's too bad. I also want healthy and thin.
I'm a little nervous expecting to be tired and cranky and constipated, but I'm on day 3 and not so maybe I'm lucky or maybe b/c we eased into this way of eating before our official start date.
Hey Freaky-I just recently cut my do nothing hair into the cutest short cut ever!! It was perfect timing with the start of everything good to follow. I'm sure you'll love it, just take the plunge. Also make sure you get a nice low maintenance cut. Heck I'm even cute getting up in the morning now, lol

It is so sweet that some of you are able to address everyone individually! Unfortunately, I'm not such a giving type of person. I hope everyone has their eye on the prize this week and does incredibly well!
Today is a pretty incredible day for me in regards to the SBD. It's my last day on Phase I and I'm going to the gym for the 1st time in almost a year tonight after work with my DH. Tonight it's a weight lifting class and tomorrow it's step arobics. I even convinced DH try the latter! If you knew what he looks like you would laugh! My schedule is going to be crazy: I work Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, go to gym from 5:30 - 7 Mon, Tues, & Thurs, and starting next week I have to attend AA from 7-8 twice a week for 5 weeks in order to keep my DL.:dizzy:.
I'm a little scared to add stuff back into my diet like I'm sure everyone is. I can be a potato & pasta freak! I think I'll start with a piece of WG Bread with breakfast every other day & next week start a fruit. It's cool that I'm joining the gym today because I think it will keep any Phase II "stalling" at bay. I can't wait to be athletic again! I used to be really great to most sports . . . . then life happened..
Talk to you chick-a-doodles soon!:df:

Hey girls! Thanks for the b'day wishes. I had a great workout today. I need to stay off the scale. I lost 1 lb this week, but I added weight traing into my schedule so I hope I built some good muscle:D I am moving into phase 2 at the end of the week. I am just going be on top of what I add first and take it sloooowly. I bought some organic veggie juice and drank it with my eggs this mornign, boy did that make me sick! I will be adding spinach to my eggs instead from now on. I am going to allow a small sliver of carrot cake for my b'day tonight but I am going to be mad at myself! ok, gotta go feed the kids dinner.

Hey Chickadees!
Well Monday is going so well so far for me. I am working a lot this week both with my photos and with my phone job, gotta save save save for the new move. I have started PH1WK1 and I am OP and sinking like a ship I have been drinking so much water. DH is going to go to the gym with me which is great and so unexpected lol. We bought our memberships when we first moved here like 9 months ago and he has yet to step foot into the place. I have been a workout aholic lately (following in weezle and freaky's examples hehe) and I think seeing me go has motivated him. Now I am having to stay motivated for two lol. Well I have to get back to work but I am so proud and motivated by all of you ladies who keep losing those unwanted pounds. You show a "new years resolutionist" like me that this is not a diet, it is a lifestyle and I can do it!
H-ko - it is so hard to have children being sick, you sound like you are such a great mommy!!! I hope your DS gets to feeling better.
tazcat - congratulations!!!!!! Jodis is sucha beautiful name...and original, I do not think I have ever heard it before.
freaky - you have guts girl. I always wished I could muster up the courage to cut my hair really short. It looks really good on some people, and boy would it be easy to take care of. Take pics for your avatar I would love to see it.
KYEMOM - Congrat congrats congrats, one lb at a time thats how we have to take things sometimes. I am thoroughly impressed with you staying OP during all that temptation, great job chickie!
Bridge - Happy birthday to you chickadoodle! Great job on not cheating, I am not sure if I would have had that willpower.
Weezle - I am so glad that your loss has picked back up. I know you were getting frustrated for a while there. That is what your hard work with keeping up with the workouts does? Maybe I should follow your example lol.
Demeter - Going to the gym for the first time is the hard part. Once you have gone you will be on such a workout high you can pretty much get your butt there on a regular basis. It is when you start missing days, weeks, years lol that it is just hard to get back into the swing of things. Great going getting the DH to go with you, two is better than one :)
Here is to finishing out the day OP and on to Day 2 I go, good luck ladies!

Bridget - Happy Birthday!
DS slept until 2 in the afternoon - combination of being sick and the Tylenol, I guess! So I did get some sleep, after all. He's had a cold, and I suspect the eye thing is related to that. His fever was down this morning, so I stopped the Tylenol. Also, his eye is less crusty and he's rubbing it less (although still somewhat crusty and itchy). Still no redness, though. He did just start whimpering and pointing to his ear, which could mean one of three (that I can think of) things: he has an ear infection; his ear itches as a result of drainage from his stuffy sinuses; or he has another molar coming in. It could be any of those, really. I have a call in to his doctor's office for the nurse to call back. His appetite is so-so, but he's still energetic, so I don't think he's too awfully sick.
Despite it all, I managed to drop another pound! I'd been kind of bouncing between 243-246 the last few weigh-ins, but it looks like I'm finally over that. <Whew!>
Oh, we tried another dump chicken recipe. I /think/ it might be one that is posted here already - I'll have to see. It wasn't entirely OP, but it wasn't too far off. It did have some brown sugar in it, but not much, and we didn't have any rice or anything with it - just veggies. Actually, I didn't eat it (I'm a little sick myself, and didn't feel up to eating garlic), but DH said it was yummy. I tasted a wee bit of the sauce, and it seemed pretty good. It was a teriyaki (sort of) recipe, with some garlic and lots of fresh gingerroot. It would be easy enough to replace the brown sugar with a sugar substitute; I chose not to since we both hate artificial sweeteners and like I said, there wasn't that much in it.

Hello all. I'm new to this forum, but not to 3FC. I'm usually on the 300+ page. I've been on phase 1 for about a month and a week. I'm doing it for 2-3 months for maximum weight loss, and I've already lost 26 lbs. :) I hope to be able to get lots of hints/tips/ recipes! :)

I did however get in some exercise at the resort we were at so hopefully that conter acted that. Will weigh myself in the morning and let you all know.
