Support Groups - January 16 Start, Week 1...join me?

01-15-2006, 08:37 PM
Hi. I want to join a support group but so many of the threads look like they started a long time ago. Is anyone out there just starting like me? I'm 38, married with a son, age 11 and daughter age 9. I've done WW and Atkins in the past and both worked but didn't last. I'm going to start WW (on my own) tomorrow and I'm looking for some dieters to join me posting menus, recipes and general talk. I wrote to a thread last week but couldn't remember where I posted so I thought I'd just start a new thread and see if anyone joins me. I just weighed in at an eye-popping 218.8 (all time high). I'd like to lose about 50 lbs by this time next year. My initial goal is to get under 200 by the end of March.

I did my grocery shopping already and will start by making the 0 point soup. My main obstacles are laziness and lack of organization. Luckily, I'm off tomorrow so after breakfast and Day 1 of pilates, I'll try to do prep work and some menu planning for Week 1. I guess my weigh-ins will be on Mondays. If I don't see anyone join me, is there a thread I can join? I'd like to be with those who have about the same weight to lose. I need support desperately because I need to be accountable for writing down my food intake. I have an incredible sweet tooth. A friend who lost a lot of weight and has kept it off helped me go grocery shopping but she said I bought too many snacks. I think it's because I'm afraid I'll cheat without those safety nets!

I'm looking forward to hearing from others. Can anyone tell me how to make a weight loss graph on the bottom of the page?

Thanks, Maureen

Hi Maureen!

I know what you mean about so many boards that have been around for a while. I would like to join you in your mission to get started and stay motivated! :carrot:

Like you, I have done WW before--and did find success and lost 30 pounds. Unfortunately I fell of the wagon and started back to some bad habits. But I really believe that WW is one of the best programs. It is the most realistic for long term success. But nothing works if you don't commit to it! I never made the 0 point soup before. But I remember hearing about it. I still think about point values in food. So this time I am going to dig up my WW books and start tracking points. Plus, I am going to start going to my local YMCA and do the treadmill, nautilus and some swimming.

A little about me: I am married, work full time and have two daughters age 11 and 12. I think it is really important to get them eating healthier as well. I have a huge sweet tooth, like you. I am trying to replace my sweet tooth with eating fruits and higher fiber snack cereal like Kashi (like I should). I did have some 1 pt bars before--and the stores carry a lot of tasty WW desserts. I just have to have something now and then. I think the first key is accountability and writing it all down.

You asked how to add the weight loss graph--you can go to your user CP and then edit your signature. That is where you insert your graph. I will update and add mine officially tomorrow. I plan to weigh myself at work--where there is an exact scale...then I will do my official weigh in every week at the same time. At least that is my plan to get started. Altogether I probably need to lose 100 pounds. I weigh around 250 now--I think a little more. I will find out tomorrow for sure. So my goal is to lose at least 50 by my birthday in day at a time! :smug:

Hope you are having a happy and healthy day!

I decided to check the site before bed and was so excited to see I had two replies. This gives me a better outlook for tomorrow knowing I have support because my husband is already having second thoughts about starting with me tomorrow.

Luckily this week work will be slow so I'll try to figure out the points for my "favorite" WW foods and recipes.

Thanks for the info on the weight graph. I also added my dog Molly's picture. I tried to find one of myself but they're all too far away...the pounds make me a little camera shy! :o

I'll talk to you tomorrow and thanks for being there. I'm sure these first few days will be the worst, especially seeing my husband came home with two loaves of stuffed bread tonight.

I dug up my scale and as I suspected am up to my all time high again. I hope I made a good goal, I'm trying for 199 by the end of March (my birthday). I'd love to fit into my size 14 shorts by summer :D (from when I lost on Atkins)

I'll talk to you girls tomorrow and hopefully some more new members! Thanks for being here.

I to have been looking around the site to find a group I can talk too and get support from. I hope you will let me in also.

I'm 34 Sahm of 3 boys 10, 7, 4 and married to Jim. Jim and I have started on wenesday of last week so I will be weighting in on that day. He needs to loss about 30lbs and I weighed in at my highest of 230. My first goal is to loss 11 lbs before Feb. 14 after that haven't set any goals yet. I am doing South beach but I really plan on is just eating healther for the rest of my life. I have started to excrise also.

Can't wait to share my journey with you all and get to know you all.

Hi Regina, Karen & Cindy:

Ok girls, here's to a good week!

Regina WOW!! 1,000 calories a day, is that enough for you? I'd be passed out on the floor! :dizzy:

Cindy good luck with your goal, it's ambitous but we can do it together! :carrot:

Karen: we'll have to conquer our sweet teeth together :D I'd love to swim but we don't have a pool near us, plus it's hard to find the time...(excuses already :o !). You'll have to kick my butt to get me exercising, today was easy because I'm off but once I start work tomorrow I get in a funk. I sit all day at work and it's not real busy, then I get lazy and tired from doing nothing.

Well anyway, DH weighed in today and says he's starting today too. He's not that computer literate so I told him I'd post his weight for him here just for accountability sake.

I did about 15 minutes of pilates (I have a bad hip/back) and it really helps, I feel a little relief already. So far I've just had tea. Do you know if we have to count sweet-n-low or equal on weight watchers? I don't even know what plan I'm on, I think the books were Success 1,2,3 but I'm not sure.

I'll post tomorrow what I eat today.

Again, welcome everyone!!! If you want, write your menus here. It will help with accountability and give others ideas. I'm off to make the veggie soup, maybe in the crockpot so I will be free to clean the house, it's disgustingly dirty :o

Hello Ladies,

I too am looking for support and would love to join you all. There are alot of established ones out there already so it is nice to start out fresh....

I am a 31 (almost 32) year old mother of two Kayla (10) and Jake (11 months). I'm married, and have about 50 lbs I'd like to lose. I'm standing up in my friends wedding this summer (strapless dress) AHHHH!!!! and I refuse to be the biggest bridesmaid there. I'd like to lose at least 30 lbs by summer and hopefully with alittle support we can all make our goals together.

 (

01-16-2006, 01:48 PM
Hi ladies,
I'd love to join in, too. I am a SAHM, at least temporarily, with my 3 month old. I have three sons and am 39. (one 10, 8, and 3 months!)

Little one's crying, gotta run!

01-16-2006, 04:24 PM
Welcome Grace and Chldomine :welcome2:

Wow Grace you are almost at goal, super!! You'll be our inspiration. Chldomine we'll get you into the dress by summer! I'm so excited our group is growing. I'm off to the store to buy DH a piece of fish, boy it's only day 1 and he's so crabby already! DH wasn't excited about the grilled veggie wraps I had planned on so I figured I'll get him some fish (yuck). I'm going to try the kids on ham steak tonight, hopefully they'll eat it, they're VERY picky eaters. It's funny we're all around the same age and have kids around the same age. I'll check in later because as you can see I'm off today and have nothing better to do!

01-16-2006, 04:39 PM
Wow - all these mom's and all the same types of "problems" staying on target. I just started WW and my first weigh in is Wednesday but other than having the flu for 2 days seems to be doing okay...but I also lack "motivation and energy" to pre-plan, which, with 7 kids, I must do to succeed. Can't wait to get to know you all :-)

01-16-2006, 07:44 PM
Hi all,

I am excited to see more joining in! I am on my way to the YMCA--just dropped in after work to say hi! Will check back soon! :-)

Hope everyone is having a happy and healthy day!

01-16-2006, 08:32 PM
Thanks Maureen! Glad to be here.

You all are so motivated, eating fish and going to the YMCA. I must admit, my biggest downfall is lack of exercising. When do you guys find the time? Any suggestions on what works for you all? I work full time usually around 50 hours a week, so when I get home I'm pretty tired and the last thing I want to do is workout. I've got the equipment, treadmill, recumbent bike, la la la......... just no motivation......ahhhh

01-17-2006, 01:04 AM
Hi all,

I did my YMCA swim as said I would--and I am feeling a tad bit sore! But I did it! I stayed in the pool for an hour and kept moving the whole time. The thing about swimming or water movement is it feels relatively easy when you are in the pool--actually refreshing. Then you get out of the pool and about an hour later I could feel a bit of soreness. But I know that is because it has been too long since I really moved my buns. But I know in a few days that will subside. I just feel proud I did it! Instead of being a big ole couch potato. Yeah!

Baby steps back in action, eh! :D

Andrea: It isn't always easy to find the time to exercise, especially between work, kids, school or whatever else may be on our plates (and I know all about all of the above--after just finishing my degree, having two pre-teens and working full time). I was finding time for other less important things--so why not squeeze in exercise--not to say that is always easy. And the truth is exercising does give you more energy--strange as it may seem. I think the hard part is sometimes just getting started. And from what I have read--you can get the same benefit from 3 mini workouts (like three 10 minute walks) as 1 full 30 minute session. So I think if it seems overwhelming--I think it helps to set a mini goal. Tell yourself that tomorrow you will do at least 5 or 10 minutes of something that interests you--even if that is a quick walk or turning on the stereo and dancing to an entire song. Whatever floats your boat! I have heard that another way to think of exercise is like brushing your teeth--you won't let yourself go without brushing--and really we should think of exercise as just as important to our daily health. Now, I am certainly just finding my way back to a good routine--but you have to start somewhere! I hope that helps.

Maureen: It sounds like you are off to a great start keeping track of your food and planning healthy meals. Today was a challenge for me in that department--as my friend had a birthday lunch planned. But I think I did okay. It was to a Tawainese restaurant--so I wasn't sure what was the most healthy--plus I am kind of picky and only like so many things from ethnic food groups. So I got my usual "Pad Thai (consist of noodles, peanuts and egg) and only ate half. Then my hubby was in a cooking mood and had made a roast with roasted potatoes and carrots. I think I did okay with that too--only had a single serving of each. I did not stuff myself all day--and only had single servings. Plus this morning I brought Kashi cereal to work and snacked on that for breakfast. Have you heard of that? It is a high fiber, protein enriched, low fat/low sugar cereal. I like to put in baggy's and just munch on it. I think it is a good alternative for munching on the run, or snacking for mid-morning/afternoon.

Regina: What made you decide to do a 1000 calorie a day diet? What kinds of foods are you filling up on? Are you feeling hungry? I always think that if I feel hunger in my belly that I have to eat something--and if not my metabolism will slow and that may defeat the purpose or make losing the weight a slower process...unless you can really stick to a restricted diet for a LONG time without going crazy. I know myself, and I have to keep the fuel on the fire (so to speak). That's why I am thinking in terms of healthy portions and choices and mini-healthy snacks in between meals. But that's just me--everyone has to find what is the best for them.

Talk to y'all more tomorrow! I am feeling pumped up and ready to make this the year of victory for the healthy new me! Rah rah rah! :cheer: We can all do it!

Good morning ladies, It's good to see everyone is posting.

HockeymomX7, wow 7 kids! I'm the youngest of 8 and my husband from a family of 11 but our mothers were from a different generation, God Bless You! Especially if you're involved with hockey because I know from friends how time consuming that sport can be. Welcome !

Andrea: I'm with you, we'll get over this exercise hurdle together. Karen is right, we'll just have to take baby steps. I was thinking last night that I'd commit to doing pilates on Sat & Sun (my days off) and then try to force myself to do it either one morning or night during the week. With my work and commute, I'm gone 50 hours a week also and although I just sit at a desk, exercise is the last thing on my mind when I get home. Between laundry, cooking, cleaning, kids homework, etc there's no time left. DH did go for a two mile walk last night. I stayed home with the kids, besides it was way too cold and icy for me to go for a walk, plus we have no street lights or sidewalks in our neighborhood.

Karen: congrats on you swimming, an hour is great! I want my kids to start eating healthier too. My daughter asked if she could "go on the diet, it sounded like fun". I told her to just eat more fruits and veggies for now. Maybe our daughters will catch our new good habits!

Cindy: I've heard good things about the South Beach diet. Is it similar to weight watchers? Is is low carb/low fat combo? Regina, are you following a plan or just keeping to 1,000 calories on your own?

Cindy, Regina & GraceGirl, hello and we hope to hear from you soon! Anyone else new, come in and join us! Someone has a weigh in day tomorrow, I forgot who....good luck!

1/16 menu: B: cereal w/ blueberries/tea 3.5
L: 1/4 tuna wrap/tea; 3
D: veg soup, grilled veggie wrap w/cheese 8
S: 2 1/2 graham cracker/FF hot cocoa 4
Misc. bites: few grapes, carrot, brocoli, cheese 3
Total points: 21.5 (this was so low because I slept very late and my B was really my lunch, my L was what my daughter left on her plate.)
Water: hardly any
Exercise: 15 minutes pilates
Vitmamins: taken

01-17-2006, 11:37 AM
Thanks Karen for the advice you are right, we've just got to do it. In order to lose weight we've got to move :carrot: and it does have wonderful benefits, in addition to giving you more energy it makes you feel good too, about yourself and just all around,,, its just doing it!!!!!;) I'm with Maureen, congrats on the hour swim that is impressive. I've got girlfriends who have been trying to get me to join their water aerobics class on Monday nights but I keep telling them no, I don't want to be seen in a bathing suit. :dizzy:

Cindy: My doctor told me after I had my son that the south beach diet is a great way to go. So good luck to you with it. I know some of the recipes beef up on the cheeses and you've got to watch out for some of those but overall it is supposed to be pretty good, even Prevention magazine boosts alot of the same beliefs in their articles.

Hockeymom: I think you are a saint with 7 kids, that is alot of work... Tell us your secret! I struggle sometimes with just the two.. =)

Thanks Maureen for starting this thread, I've got to tell you I'm pretty excited and I'm actually feeling some motivation here. I rode my bike last night for 25 minutes while I watched wife swap. I figured I can do it again tonight while I watch American Idol (I love the auditions) If I'm sitting there anyways I might as well move right? :carrot:

01-17-2006, 01:15 PM
Ok you girls are motivating me to exercise. Andrea 25 minutes on the bike is excellent!! You go girl, I'm so proud of you :ebike:

I'm so out of shape it's not funny. :?: I will try my hardest to either walk or do pilates tonight...depending on the weather. DH and I are trying to turn over a new leaf and go to bed without the TV on. Last night I read instead till 10:30. We have a real bad habit of watching M*A*S*H from 11 p.m to 1 a.m...or until we fall asleep.

Funny story :( This morning I had ice on my passenger seat, I started my car thinking that was weird...then I noticed I was sitting on ice, there was ice on the floor between the seats, on the dashboard, and ALL OVER the interior roof of my car. I started driving trying to figure out what it was. Then I had to pull over to investigate. Some little angel had an unopened can of diet root beer in the cupholder in the seat behind mine. Well it exploded and there's root beer slush all over my car, I mean everywhere! I had to pull over and wipe as much as I could out with a piece of newspaper I found. Ugh, what a mess, it wil probably be worse when I get out of work and see what happened to the melted chunks.

I just finished making myself a weekly chart to track my food, points, vitamins, water, exercise and weight loss. It's in Excel if anyone wants it. I put one week on one 8 X 11 sheet of paper.

Don't you wish we could fast forward ourselves 6 months and be 50 pounds lighter! :D

01-17-2006, 03:50 PM
Hiya ladies! This looks like the right group for me. I've been lurking around (mostly) for the last week and was just thinking this morning how nice it would be to really find a group to get in with.

I'm 34, married to Dave, and have a 2 1/2 year old girl, Kayleigh. I started back on program last Weds, but I'm just now starting to feel like I'm back in the zone. ;) I've done countless programs in the past, but am doing WW on my own right now, with a South Beach twist. i.e. trying to stay within points by eatting the glycemic index way. When I go shopping, I try to stay on the outskirts of the store (where the fresh stuff is) and not get into all the processed stuff in the middle. So far so good.

We have a fitness center at work, so I've been going there three times a week and doing one of the cardio machines for 30 mins. I keep meaning to add some strength training at home, but I'm usually pooped once I make it home, and then my daughter usually wants most of my attention once I'm there. :) Not an excuse, just realizing that I need to address that issue and make time for it SOMEWHERE. Was actually thinking of signing up for a triathlon and having something to train for. I've done the Breast Cancer 3-day twice and I just really seem to focus better when I have something like that to make me get out and move. :) That idea has had me on the YMCA website all morning trying to find an indoor pool to train at.

Anyway, babbling now. I have roughly 50 lbs to lose and hope to get there by the end of 06. I'm willing to swtich my weigh-in day if we want to pick a common day for all of us. In the meantime, I look forward to learning from you all and supporting you however I can.

01-17-2006, 04:42 PM
Hi Tina, it looks like you fit right in! That's so great that you have a gym at work. Awesome goals too :carrot: My reward goal is taking a trip to Rome, it's ben a dream for a long time. Once I start losing, I'll look into making reservations! :D Thanks for the shopping around the perimeter tip, it makes a lot of sense. I weigh in on Monday but I think some others weigh in on Wednesday, whatever day you want to post is fine. Talk to you all soon!

01-17-2006, 07:25 PM
Hi ladies!

Maureen: I have found those wonderful treasures that kiddies leave behind with their random acts of being messy. Gotta love 'em, even though they can stress us all out a bit at times. It's part of being a Mom. You are doing great with tracking what you are eating. I decided to sign up for WW online--so I could have the benefit of logging my points and looking up everything electronically. I know its an added expense--but I really thought it would help keep me on track (and really needed that help). So far so good. I like how it tabulates everything for me.

tinabinab: Sounds like you are off to a great start! I have heard that shopping on the outside of the store is the healthiest way--where all the whole foods are and not all the processed.

Andrea: Great job with exercise while watching Wife Swap. I watch that show too--and I love American Idol. It is one of my favorites. Sounds like you have a good plan to move while you watch. Keep it up!

I almost forgot, Maureen--I was going to tell you that my husband is from Italy (I met him there when I lived there while in the Navy). I lived in a town called Brinidisi (very southern Italy). I spent some time in Rome and Naples. It is bellisima! Beautiful! That is a great goal to have and well worth it!

Hope everyone is doing well today....I am off to the YMCA in a bit!

:D Karen in Ohio

01-17-2006, 11:05 PM
Hi Tina, Welcome :) A triathlon? You rock! talk about motivation!!

Maureen, I too have had a couple "surprises" like that. My daughter had one of her friends spend the night last week and while I was driving her home (she lives about 20 minutes away) her and my daughter were chowing chocolate in the back of my car, got it all over my seats, I don't know if they dropped it and didn't realize it..... at any rate, I feel your pain.

Just got off of the bike. I did another 25 minutes while watching American Idol. I'm very proud of myself if I must say so..... two days in a's got to be a record, if I could only keep it up. Maureen, you mentioned that you have a bad hip/back and don't really like to walk out in the weather much. Have you ever thought about buying a walking DVD or VHS? Then you could do it in the warmth of your house. I know If I had to think about walking out in the cold I could probably find about 20 different reasons why I shouldn't go. Just a suggestion, has your WW leader mention Leslie Sansoon I think her name is? Some swear by her.

Karen: how was the YMCA tonight? Do you swim everynight?

Well I should hit the sack! I'm pooped.

Hope you all have a great night and a successful day tommmorow.

01-18-2006, 10:21 AM
Hi girls, just a quick note to check in. Everyone is doing so good!! With all the inspiration last night I did 15 minutes of pilates and 15 minutes of the exercise bike while watching HGTV. I blobbed while watching some of Idol!

I'm just doing WW from memory. How much exercise constitutes an "earned point"? I was thinking of doing WW online also. Let me know how you like it.

Cute kids in the avatar!!!

I'll write back later after the boss leaves. I hope everyone checks in today! Is in weigh in day for some???

01-18-2006, 11:08 AM
Ok hi everyone hope your day is good. I just weight in and lost 6 1/2 pounds this last week!!:carrot: I'm so happy and excited about it. I know it has to do with eating right and exercising almost every day! Just had to share my news. My DH lost 6 1/2 pounds also so it really nice that his in on it to with me. Well need to run.

01-18-2006, 12:58 PM
Yeah Cindy!!! :cheer:
Wow you must be so proud of yourself. Congrats to your hubby as well.
That is a lot of weight for one week, way to go!! :D :D :D

01-18-2006, 01:23 PM
Hi girls: what a yucky day here. Itís pouring out and the wind is supposed to hit 60 mph. They shut the NYC bridges down earlier this morning because of the wind. Hopefully it will die down before I leave for home.

Karen: I SO want to go to Italy! Iím Irish American and my husband is from Ireland (County Mayo) and we go there frequently but Iíve always longed to go to Italy, especially Rome. Iíd also like to go to Southern Italy and Tuscany. I always browse through the travel books and websites. It must have been exciting in the Navy, I guess youíre quite the adventurer! Have you gone back to Italy to see your husbandís family at all?

Andrea: Way to go on the bike!! Iíll check out the Leslie Sansone tapes.

Karen: can you answer a couple of WW questions for me. Iím doing WW from memory and my little dry erase card where you mark off your points shows 35 bonus points at the bottom. Are they (free) points of mine for the week or do I have to earn them first?

My menu (only way to keep me honest!)
B: cereal w/ blueberries & tea 5
L: tuna on WW bread, yogurt, grapes, water 7
D: Grilled veggie wrap, mango tea 6
S: 1 Ĺ graham crackers & cocoa 3
Vitamins: yes (but have bad stomach cramps from them again)
Water: only 1 bottle...maybe 1.5
Points used: 21 Points saved: 5

01-18-2006, 08:22 PM
:carrot: Good evening all!

Hope you are all having a good day!

Cindy: Way to go with the loss! That is awesome! :carrot: I am sure you are feeling really pumped up about that!

Maureen: For WW points you do get an extra 35 points for the week to use how you want (either all at once or spread over the week). I know that with the exercise you don't start earning points for exercise until I think 3 weeks after the starting point--and then I think it depends on the type and length. I will have to double check the website and see what it says about that. Because I plugged in some activity points but it didn't give me any extra points. I have gone back to Italy twice since I lived there (during the 2000 Christmas/New Years and the 2005 Christmas/New Years). Our goal is to go every few years to see everyone and so our girls have a chance to visit with their many cousins, granparents, aunts, uncles, etc. My husbands family kind of acts like the characters from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"--if you have any clue what that is like. Crazy, loud, and opinionated! But a very loving bunch!

Andrea: Great job getting moving while watching TV. I watched AI as well...pretty funny stuff to start. I don't swim every day--but just happened to feel energetic to do that two days in a row.

Does anyone have some snack food suggestions? Or how about a tasty low-fat recipe? I am always looking for new ideas.

Also, what is everyone's weigh in day? Mine is Monday. And for once I am not going to even check until Monday rolls around. I am usually obsessed with the scale (have been known to weigh myself one time after another to see if the number changes--I know I am not alone there!) I am trying to change that and just wait until the week goes by--and think more about how I feel and not so much about the number. Because I really do feel better when I stay on track and don't feel bloated from eating too much of the wrong food choices. Know what I mean? One step at a time!

low fat snack thoughts other than fruit.....
granola bars, microwave popcorn, rice cakes, graham crackers, yogurt, You can check out dwlz . com (dottie's weight loss zone), she has a list of 1 point foods I think. I used to go on her site a long time ago and I just saw that she regained her weight but is back on track, I wish her luck. She's got a great site although you have to skim past a lot of advertisements to find the good info.

This week I made grilled veggies on an indoor grill then put them in a wrap with either LF dressing and/or asiago or some type of hard cheese melted inside, or you can do chicken, salsa and LF sour cream in a wrap. Tomorrow I'm trying a new recipe, I adjusted a regular one from It's called salt and vinegar chicken I have BS chicken thighs marinating in 1 cup cider vinegar, 3 tsp salt and some old bay seasoning. I'll let you know how it comes out tomorrow.

I'm always searching for snack food too, it's hard because you want something but you don't want to squander your points. I might go munch on some dry cereal before bed. DH looked up tonight that a snickers bar is 7 pts! He's doing well but he has to kick his dunkin donuts coffee w/ cream habit. I've had a sore tooth I think from sinus trouble so it hurts to eat, although it hasn't stopped me!
Your husbands family sounds like fun. Better to be like My Big Fat Greek Wedding than the Sopranos! DH loves the Sopranos. The Irishman walks around with a Bada Bing baseball cap :)

Well I didn't exercise because DH was sleeping in the bedroom with a sinus headache but I did dance for about 15 minutes with the kids on the Dance Dance Revolution game, that tired me out! I'll write tomorrow while I'm at work. Good night and congrats again on the 6 1/2 lbs!!!

DD was sick last night around 3 a.m. (throwing up). DH stayed up with her, but I was still late for work though! She did go to school today so that was good. It was windy again here last night, a neighbors tree fell down. Where are you all from?

Andrea, Regina, Tina, Hockey, Cindy...are you still with us? I hope so!

Happy Dieting Day! Mo

Hello ladies,

I just typed a whole message and lost it.....darn it! I am only home for a quick lunch so I will have to make this short. And tonight I coach my girls soccer team so I may not get a chance to log back in....but wanted to say hello. I just put my dinner in the crock pot (chicken, green peppers and tomato sauce) and grabbed a bite to eat (turkey on wheat bread).

Maureen: Great idea checking out website for 1 point snack ideas. I use that site sometimes--it has a lot of good ideas and great for restaurant points! Hope your dh feels better soon. Great job with the workout! I have done the dance dance revolution--it is fun. What better way to workout--making it fun is the way to go!

Hiya all!

Thanks for posting the snack ideas and the dwlz link! Snacking is my biggest problem area - esp since nearly everyone around my cube has a candy jar on the edge of their desk! I've done well abstaining for over a week now, so I'm very proud of myself for that. :)

Congrats Cindy on your and DH's weightloss - that is awesome!!!

I just got back from working out - did 30 mins of interval walking and running. I know a triathlon is a VERY lofty goal. DH actually laughed when I suggested the idea - he's come around though now, asking if he can do it with me! (He lost about 70 lbs last year and does better when he has something like that to work towards also.) It's a LONG term goal though - probably '07, not '06, but I'd like to participate in a few 5k's and bike races this year to get prepped. I'm very excited about it!

I'm switching my weigh-in day to Mondays. I changed my siggy because I had serious doubts about the validity of the numbers my scale at home was giving. I switched from the analog type to an electric one last night, and it measured me above what the analog one has been. (...and of course I'd been picking the best weight of the four numbers the analog gave me!;)) I feel like I'm starting at square one, but at least I have confidence that my scale is correct now. :)

Anyway, hope everyone is having a healthy, low-calorie day!!!

Sorry been crazy last couple days....

Cindy congratulations on the weight loss, that is wonderful!!!!! You must feel so proud!!! And you should!!! :bravo:

I think I'm going to change my weigh in day to Monday, just to stay in sync with it seems like everyone else. (its not really that far off, I was weighing in on tuesday) At any rate, I'm feeling pretty good and have resisted the urge to weigh myself everyday as well...... :goodscale (yes I have that problem too). I did the bike again last night another 25 minutes while watching AI but I couldn't sleep last night,, too much going on at work,,, so hopefully I'll find the motivation tonight as well.

Thanks Maureen for bringing up DWLZ, I forgot all about that website, but I'm going to tool around it tonight. My DH is a huge Sopranos fan as well. He is salivating waiting for the new season to start.

At any rate, I should run.

Good luck to everyone today...!!!!!

Hi ladies:

It looks like we'll have a lot of news on Monday with the weigh ins!! This is my first weekend on the diet and I hope I hang tough. Being around the house is dangerous for me :o I've really not been trying hard enough on drinking water. I didn't exercise last night either :o

Thursday menu:
cereal w/blueberries, tea, turkey sandwich, yogurt, cocoa, 2 rice cakes, chicken, green beans, baked potato, mini bagel w/ 1 Tbs cream cheese, tea
Points: all 26! Vitamins: yes Water: hardly any Exercise: none

My first 3 days were pretty good, I even saved alot of points, yesterday I was really hungry and used all 26. Karen: Are you sure I can eat all 35 flex points free and clear? I'm afraid to use them! :?:

We don't have anything planned for this weekend, DH has some work to do so maybe I'll try to do some cleaning, the house is still a mess. The whole house needs cleaning but I really need to pull the furniture away from the walls (I hate sectionals) and vacuum up the mounds of toys/wrappers/junk my kids drop between the cushions in the family room.

We remodeled almost a year ago and I still have not decorated, the house is such a hodge podge of furniture, nothing matches...I need decorating guidance badly!! I like the cottage style look but am not organized or brave enough (or rich enough) to take the plunge and start buying and decorating. I really need to pick a style and stick with it. I just collect things I like with no real theme. I still haven't even hung curtains over my sliding doors yet....I did buy some though a couple of weeks ago! Can someone send their foot to Connecticut to kick me in the A$$? :o

DH wants to know if after a week or so will his appetite be lessened. I told him I thought yes, but he doesn't believe me, he wants to hear it from you! Looking forward to everyones posts. Maybe this Monday weigh-in will help us be good over the weekend!

I've had a very bad Thursday and Friday,,,, I worked till 8 both nights, so when I came home thursday we ended up ordering a pizza (didn't excersise) I was so hungry I didn't even care what was on it. I should of ordered a thin crust cheese pizza but I didn't, instead I got a cheese, hamburger and green pepper. I would of been o.k. if I hadn't ate 4 pieces. I couldn't stop myself I was soooooo hungry........ Then Friday, I was coming home at around 8, my husband calls and tells me to stop and pick something up on the way home..... I could of went to Subway, buttt noooooo I had to have a single with cheese at Wendy's. I was hungry...... usually my husband would cook if I worked that late but my little guy has the chicken pox so needless to say he's been a little busy. Today is my birthday, so I'm getting ready to meet my mother-in-law for breakfast. We get along very well so its always a treat to be with her. She's taking me to Cracker Barrel, so I need to stay focused and pick something some what healthy on the menu, is there anything? Husband is taking me out for Indian food tonight, I'm not real concerned about that, I'll stick with the chicken and be o.k., its the cake and ice cream that comes after....... how do you say no? I just need to make sure I excersise today. Wish me luck!!!!!! I think I need it right now!

01-21-2006, 09:45 PM
Good evening girls:

Andrea: First of all....Happy Birthday! :woo: Hope your DS is feeling better soon and isn't too itchy! You can't worry about what you ate now, the only thing you can do is take each day at a time. So you had a bad day with the pizza, it happens. The Wendy's probably wasn't that bad. Enjoy your birthday dinner.

My kids had McDonalds Friday night and DH and I had subway which was ok, but I had a 3 Musketeer afterwards, I counted the points and didn't go over, I just felt guilty afterwards. I haven't exercised officially but I've been cleaning the house. I need to plan more meals. Tonight I had nothing ready and we had to eat omelettes and toast. It was still within my points but probably not the healthiest choice. I have 6 points left for the day and I'm sure I'll have a snack with my tea during our movie tonight.

We may have company from out of town tomorrow and if they stop we'll probably go out for lunch. Maybe they'll just stop for coffee.... Anyone have any ideas for meals? DH is planning for a couple of nights of fish, but I really don't like it. Maybe I'll do turkey sloppy joes or make a pork tenderloin when he has his fish because he doesn't like either one of them.

Well have a nice weekend, I can't wait to weigh in on Monday!

01-22-2006, 01:42 PM
Ok hi everyone sorry I got on in while but I got the flu from my kids on friday and saturday. It is really hard to know what to eat when your on a diet and don't feel like eating right. But I stuck with it and feel much better today. I had a taco salad last night for my free dinner. I allow myself one time a week to have a free meal. It tasted really good. So today I'm back on my diet and just need to get some exercise in today. Hopefully I will feel like it, still pretty tired from being sick. I hope everyone weekend went better then mine. Good luck to everyone that is going to weigh in tomorrow!! Cindy

01-22-2006, 11:56 PM
Just a quick good night. I weigh in tomorrow, I better kneel next to my bed and pray before I go to sleep!
I did more shopping today with DH so I'm stocked up on fruit and veggies, he wont shop with me but Costco is an exception to the rule!

I'm off to bed soon, I waited up to bid on a game for my son on eBay. The things we do for love!

01-23-2006, 01:05 AM
Hello ladies!

I have had a busy weekend and didn't get much down time--and the times I had time my dh was dominating the PC so I couldn't get on to type a message. Now its about time to go to bed, but I thought I would stop in before that! Finally, I can catch my breath! I just ran around a lot this weekend being the Mom taxi and did some shopping. I did stock up on some healthy snacks tonight at the grocery store. I have been talking to my girls a lot about eating healthy and I think they are starting to get it (not that I am a total expert). I just want them to understand that they need to eat more fruits and veggies and less junk. I think that helps keep things in balance--plus know what is a healthier choice from just about anywhere--and that we can find better choices even at McD's or when ordering pizza. One of my girls thought drinking fruit punch was healthy--and I had to explain that was the same as drinking a soda in terms of calories. Unless you are having a real fruit drink with no sugar know what I mean! That reminds me, I did get to have one of my favorite healthy drinks from Tropical Smoothie Cafe while running around this weekend. I love the "Sunny Day" smoothie with splenda. Its worth 3 points I think and is really good and filling. Yummy. When I have things like that I don't even feel a bit deprived. And I think that is the kind of thing that will help to find long term success, when it still feels like food is just as enjoyable as it ever was--if not more when you know it is truly good for you.

Well, I guess that is about enough from my ramblings for the night! Hope you all are ready for a good week!

Good morning ladies!

DH lost 7+ lbs and he's very happy! :carrot: I lost 3 lbs which I am happy with (although when I first got on the scale it said 7!, I weighed myself about four more times to be sure it was just 3 lbs!) :D

I think I forgot to post my menus the last few days but here's yesterday:
B: coffee, cereal w/ blueberries, L: two bites of london broil and 1/2 non-fat frozen yogurt at Costco, D: chicken sausage & 1/2 baked potato w/ LF sour cream and green onions, S: 1 1/2 sheets graham crackers, 1 chocolate chip cookie.
Water: maybe 32 oz., Exercise: shopping?, Vitamins: no

I bought some chicken, spinach, feta sausage at Costco that's 3 points a link, it's pretty tasty. I also bought turkey burgers, I hope they taste ok. I stocked up on red and green grapes, blueberries, apples, bananas, clementines and lite canned fruit. I had two samples of London broil at Costco, I got the last package of it and if the points are too high, it will be a quick "real" meal for the kids. Last week I gave them soup one night and ham and eggs another that bad? :?:

My sister sent away for the WW info on eBay, I'm trying to convince my mother to do it also.

Delicious but expensive snack idea!!: shrimp cocktail 10 ex-large shrimp w/ cocktail sauce is only about 2 points!! I bought a 2 lb. bag at Costco and divided them up in sandwich bags.

Well my tooth has been killing me all weekend, I guess it's not sinus related. I need to call my dentist who retired but is working part-time. I'll procrastinate I'm sure as I am petrified of the dentist. He even gives me laughing gas before novacaine for a filling :o

My kids had school today even though most of the state is off because of snow. My son kept checking the TV before he left :p We only had rain but most of the state has snow. Of course I drive to work toward the snow so it should be fun driving home.

I'm really glad my husband lost a lot because he was very discouraged the first few days. Yesterday he said that he thinks WW is "10 times better than Atkins". I think because he came home filled with guilt for eating a piece of coffee cake at my mothers and when I told him to just count the points he was relieved. It was a 12 pt snack but he just cut back on his dinner and ate more fruits and veggies. His buying into this will definitely help me along the journey. I also taught him how to use the slide ruler.

I'll check in later (the boss called in sick today so I'll be bored!!)

01-23-2006, 12:25 PM
Hiya all! Hope you had a great weekend!

Andrea - Happy belated Birthday! Hope it was a good one! :woo:

Maureen - Congrats to you and DH again! That is awesome!!!! :bravo:

As for me, I discovered that my DH is a feeder! I did so well on Saturday when I was on my own most of the day, but yesterday was a whole other story. DH (who does 99% of the cooking in our home and had taken a little trip to the grocery store on Sat - ugh) made eggs, bacon, toast and jelly for breakfast, macaroni and cheese for lunch, and then (this was the killer!) Ribs and twice baked potatoes for dinner on Sunday! OMG - I did well on portion sizes, but I know it was a BAD day calorie/points wise. I'm afraid to even calculate it! DH says he's back on program this week, so I'll have to kick butt if he plans to cook like that again! :)

I am down .5 lb, but after having such a great week last week, I was hoping for more. Sunday just killed me, and I'm afraid the true effects haven't shown up yet. :/ For now I am celebrating even a small loss though and trying not to be discouraged. (After all, I could have made myself alternate meals yesterday but didn't...)

Here's to another week!

01-23-2006, 01:55 PM
Hi all, :)

Just checking in real quick on my lunch break...and wanted to chime in with my weigh in. I lost 2 pounds so I am happy with that. As long as the scale moves down--that is the way to go! Hope you are having a good day!

01-23-2006, 02:48 PM
Tina, I just realized we're the same weight now. Let's have a race to 199! Karen, congrats on the weight loss :carrot:
I'm in agony with this tooth ache. It looks like i'm going to have to break down and call a dentist :( :( :( :( I'm such a chicken....correction "fat chick!"

01-23-2006, 04:31 PM
Hehehe, yes lets race to onederland!!!

Kudos Karen!!!

I just got back from the gym - did 30 mins on the elliptical machine. I've been having some spotting after I exercise - anyone know what thats all about?

Anyone else using nutridiary? (like FitDay) I was just wondering if its worth the $20/yr to upgrade to Plus?

Anyway, hope you're all having a healthy low calorie/points day!!!

01-24-2006, 11:42 AM
Hi girls, nothing much new here, it's quiet because the boss called in sick again ;)

Monday menu: B: cereal, tea L: shrimp, chicken sausage, yogurt
D: 3/4 chicken breast, 1/2 potato w LF sour cream & onions
S: 1 cookie and 2 graham crackers...I should have stopped there because my points were used up but I was cranky and hungry and ate a small bowl of cereal, so I was about 3 points over my daily allotment. I subtracted them from my bonus points:
W: a couple of bottles, Vitamins: took 1/2, gagged on others, Exercise: none
I really need to sleep better, exercise and get some energy, I've been very lazy yesterday and today. It's only 10:30 a.m. and I'm daydreaming of going home and crawling into bed.

Tina: great job on the exercise, I'm not familiar with the websites you mention so I'm no help. Not sure about the spotting either, it's not that time of the month coming up is it, I do know that diet and exercise can alter the cycle. I just had my period a few weeks ago after not having it for 5 months, I've always been irregular but I guarantee as soon as I lose about 15 more pounds, I'll start getting it almost regularly. Hopefully I'll get my sex drive back too when I lose more weight! :o

Have a great day, I have to wait till Thursday to see my dentist, although it doesn't hurt as much today as it did yesterday. I think the advils are helping.

01-24-2006, 11:42 AM
why isn't my weight chart showing up...I just noticed that.

01-24-2006, 11:43 AM
is it because my posts are too long?

01-24-2006, 02:35 PM
Help!!! I'm so hungry today and my lunch didn't cut it. I want something fattening like a cookie to console me! I'll have a rice cake and cross my fingers!

01-24-2006, 05:17 PM
I would love to join! I can use all the support I can get right now. I miss food and I have been crabby since this started but I am getting better and feeling a bit better now. One thing I am sure of it I WILL make it this time.. with all of us pulling for one another... how can we fail :)

chldomine.. American Idol auditions are the best! I laugh til I have tears in my eyes :D

01-24-2006, 07:21 PM

I never got a chance to weigh in yesterday, however I did do it this morning and I am up 1.5 lbs, I'm really dissapointed, but I know why I am, from Thursday on I was completely un-prepared, when I don't pre-plan meals, then I don't do well. A major issue I have is usually 3 times out of the week I end up working late, its never pre-planned so it throws everything off, I don't get home till 8:00 pm and by then I'm starving and I don't care what I have so long as I have food in my stomach, that's when I make poor choices. :?: I was seeing a dietician and she suggested keeping pria bars in my desk drawer, just to hold me over, but then I would just eat all the Pria bars at once. Stress has alot to do with it as well, I eat when I'm stressed.

So anyways to make my long long story short, I need help in figuring out a better way, Because when I am not prepared for last minute changes like that then its like a rock rolling downhill, I'm tired when I get home so I don't exercise, and I truly believe that I would lose weight if I would exercise consistently, I just have not been able to do that. Any suggestions? What works for you all? I really want to be succesfull!!!! I'm sick and tired of thinking every summer, that I just want to feel good in shorts. I don't want to be self conscious anymore.

I'm at work right now so I'm going to try to wrap everything up so I can get home,,, husband is making dinner tonight (chicken of some sorts), he really does try to help out in that way but sometimes he doesn't get home till 5:30 or 6:00 and then you guys know how it is,,, kids homework, running them to Karate or soccer,, ect ect ect.......

At any rate any suggestions would be welcome, even if it is to tell me to stop whining and start doing,,,,,,, :^:

By the way, Thank you Tina and Maureen for the birthday wishes and Maureen the advice, Birthday was good, DH took me out just me and him, went to dinner and a comedy club. My mother-in-law came over and watched the kids. DS still has the chicken pox's but it's almost gone, he's been so good about it.... Oatmeal baths and Calamyne lotion do wonders.

mishakal30, welcome, welcome welcome....:welcome3:

It is very nice to have another in the mix, and I can not wait to watch AI again tonight..... I love that show, I agree the auditions are the best, me and my DD laugh so hard sometimes our bellys hurt... is that considered some sort of exercise??

At any rate,, :cp: congratulations to everyone on their weight loss this week, I hope to be joining you next week in that celebration. :carrot: :cb: :hat: And here's to a successful week!!!!

01-25-2006, 11:08 AM
Good morning girls.

Andrea here's some ideas for when you work late (are you doing WW???):

1 buy a bag of pre-cooked grilled chicken strips (microwave them when you
get home and toss them on top of a pre-packaged bag of salad)
2 cook several baked potatoes at the beginning of the week so you have a
1/2 potato waiting to be heated up in the microwave.
3 buy some WW or Lean Cuisine frozen dinners (the turkey, stuffing & apple
dessert one is really good and I think 6 calories)
4 splurge on a small veggie tray w/ LF dressing to snack on while you
make dinner
5 replace a meal with a bowl of Special K or similar cereal w/ fresh fruit
on top.
6 Have cans of soup on hand
7 Make a red sauce with lots of vegetables and freeze portions. Then just
boil some pasta and micro the sauce
8 Have breakfast for dinner. Egg/Egg white omelette with low fat cheese
and whatever veggies are on hand with a couple pieces of toast
9 Stop and buy a 6" subway sandwich (my fav is grilled chicken, provolone,
L&T, olives, onions, banana peppers, roasted peppers and vinegar) 8 pts?

If I think of anymore, I'll write them later. I of course am better at giving advice than following it ;)

Welcome Mishakal! :D I watched some of AI last night. Rhonetta was a piece of work wasn't she. Although (don't hit me) I'm not a big country music fan, I did like the skinny blonde girl who lived with her grandfather. There were several others I liked but couldn't see the TV from where I was. (I made LF rice pudding last night, came out pretty good but I think I cooked it a litle too much).

menu: B: cereal w/ blueberries, tea L: 1/2 banana, Lean Cuisine & 3 rice cakes, D: london broil, 1/2 potato S: 5 graham crackers & tea!! (while waiting for dinner), couple spoonfuls of rice pudding
Used all points, not much water, no exercise, no vitamins :o

Boss called in sick again today!!! :D I found a great link on WW crockpot recipes, I'll try to find it and share, it's on this site somewhere.

01-26-2006, 11:25 PM
Hi girls, it seems like no one has been around lately. I hope everyone is well. I did good today eating especially seeing I didn't go to work. My tooth/mouth started feeling better yesterday but I went to the dentist anyway. He said my teeth looked ok, no infection and the x-ray didn't show any dead nerves but if it hurts again in the future I may need a root canal.

I did some grocery shopping in the morning and hit some consignment stores in the afternoon before the kids got home from school. Lands End is having a big clearance sale, I just got a lot of great buys for the kids.

No breakfast before dentist, 2 rice cakes at lunchtime, 6" subway sub. No dinner but I made fat free muffins and had one of those and I ate 1 chicken nugget and about 4 french fries. Tomorrow is an indoor barbeque at school so I'll try to be good (I wrapped up the cupcakes I had to make real quick)! I know they're having veggie burgers but I don't know if I'll be that good.

I got some good bargains today. I picked up a nice old cake platter, canister set, Abercrombie and Fitch vest for DH, and a few items for the kids. Just after Christmas I bought 35 items from the Salvation Army for $1.00 a piece. My niece (size 2!) took 15 pairs of shorts, all abercrombie, jcrew, gap, etc. my daughter and husband got the rest. I wish I had the energy and ambition to put stuff on eBay again to make some cash...just enough to pay for my shopping "habit"!

Does anyone have an MP3 player? I found a website called that offers free audiobook downloads. You have to sign up through your local library and the offerings are limited because it's new, but I've downloaded several already.

Well, have a great night, I hope to hear from everyone soon!

01-27-2006, 10:44 AM anybody there :?: :?: :?: :?:

01-27-2006, 11:13 AM
I'm still here, just had a really busy week and been focused elsewhere. Its good though, because I've still been doing really well on my dieting, but without having time to obsess about it. (Which I frequently do!) :)

I bought a new car this week - traded in my Toyota Highlander for a 06 Civic Ex. It's going to be an adjustment, but also a big adjustment in the wallet!

Today is jeans day Friday and for the first time in weeks, my jeans aren't tight! Yeah! These are 18's, but I have another pair of 18's that fit much smaller - I'll hopefully be back in those by Valentines! I have gotten on the scale and finally seen notable downward movement, but I won't do an official weigh-in until Monday.

Hope everyone's still lurking around - please post when you get a chance and have a healthy low-cal/low-points weekend!

01-27-2006, 04:35 PM
wish me luck, I'm going to a school event tonight. I only had 10 points so far today and haven't used any of my bonus points this week or last. I'll look up how much a hot dogs is, I'd really enjoy one of those....I'll try to steer clear of the baked goods. I might make biscotti this weekend, I found a recipe that has only 1 point per piece.

01-29-2006, 01:36 AM
I'm still here as well, just been a really busy week. I was in training this week at work, we're getting a new computer system so it was pretty intense training, m-friday 9 - 5:30 everyday. We were provided breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday, so I'm not looking for a weight loss on Monday, I tried to do well and I think I made the best choices I could with what I was offered. We had Panera Bread one day and I had a turkey sandwhich (but I did eat the Kettel chips that came with it) We had Italian one night and I ordered eggplant Parmesan, It wasn't deep fried like some are and not completely covered in Mozzarella (although there was alot) all I can do is get back and try again. I did work out twice this week which is more than I thought I would considering my crazy schedule, I felt so bad, on Thursday although training ended at 5:30 I had to stay to catch up on my work that I have gotten behind on over the week, my DD had to miss Karate because it starts at 5:00 and I wasn't able to get her there on time, well come to find out she was supposed to get promoted that night...... I felt like such a heel. She wasn't as upset as I thought she would of been, she was just happy to get the promo, however I know she wanted to be there.

Well, I'm reallllyyyyy tired. so I'm going to hit the sack. Pistons vs Lakers game tommorow, I'll be there with the family.......we are going to eat before we go so we don't hit the concession stand while we're there.

Have a very happy Sunday and good luck to everyone on Monday!!!

01-29-2006, 05:32 PM
Hi girls,

Tina congrats on the new car and better fitting jeans!

Andrea: I didn't do so well eating yesterday, it's hard when you're away from home and not planning your own meals. We went to NY yesterday to visit some friends and I had a salad and a piece of an italian combo sub (luckily the deli that delivered the food had the subs cut into about 2" slices so I had just one). I passed on dessert initially but then ended up finishing the chocolate mousse cake that my son didn't finish. After that we went and visited some of DH cousins that live near our friends and they ordered pizza and subs also! I had one slice of pizza and skipped the apple pie! Oh, I ate two cookies when we got home at 11 p.m. (they sent us with a goody bag :( )

I'm trying to get on track today because I weigh in tomorrow. I did a sneak weigh and it didn't look like much :(

I'll check in tomorrow. DH is making grilled chicken tonight so hopefully we'll have enough leftover for lunch or dinner tomorrow. I bought a spiral ham too, I have to go check the points for ham. Have a nice night and I hope everyone else checks in soon.

01-30-2006, 10:14 AM
Good Morning!!

Well I weighed in and gained 2 lbs, I am now at 193.5, normally this is where I would be getting discouraged and going to find something to eat, but I know that I've had some challenges to overcome, with computer training and having chocholate pushed at me all day everyday for a week (The trainers were using chocholate as prizes for answering questions correctly) to working late and trying to figure out how to overcome the stress eating.... I just decided starting this week, I have to realize that this is a lifestyle change, I can't have seconds anymore, I shouldn't eat until I'm completely stuffed and can't move. And when I feel stressed at work, I'm going to chew gum, (we'll see how that does!!!!) I know that I'm going to be working late all this week so I've packed extra vegetables and fruit in my lunchbox. I've also started buying frozen smart ones for lunch to help me with my portion sizes. that is always a struggle for me. I think I'm going to start posting my menu like Maureen does in order to keep me honest.

At any rate, I've got to get to work, but I hope everyone does well with their weigh in today and heres to healthy eating and a new lifestyle....:hat: (maybe if I quit drinking I'd lose weight,,,, he he well that wouldn't be anyfun!!!!)

01-30-2006, 11:42 AM
Happy Monday girls:

Well I lost 1 lb. I was hoping for more, but I'll take it! DH lost 4 more lbs! I'm going to have to exercise to accelerate this weight loss. Maybe I'll start walking at lunch. Two of my friends at work transfered to another building, one of them would have walked with me. I kind of keep to myself at work because most of the employees work on machinery and I work in the office upstairs and there aren't many office people around. I guess I'm old enough to work by myself though aren't I :dizzy: I'm always looking for excuses.

Sunday: B: FF blueberry muffin L: rice cake, granola bar, yogurt D: chicken breast w/ salsa, brocolli, baked potato S: two spoonfuls of DS ice cream :o and a couple of bites while making the kids lunch (ham, cheese, etc.) Points: 26 Exercise: No Vitamins: No Water: maybe a quart?

I hope everyone else is just busy and nothings wrong. I'll check in later. Have a great week. Hopefully my weight chart is updated and appearing.

Hiya ladies. I see that we're all facing similar challenges as we go through this, and I can honestly say that having our own little support group has definitely been helpful for me.

Andrea - that is a great attitude. You had a tough week, and you still managed to work out a couple nights - that is awesome! I've been using the gum technique myself - esp to keep myself away from the candy jars that are EVERYWHERE at my office. I really like that Orbitz orange - the flavor stays a long time. I was going through about 1/2 pack a day when I started, but have started to lessen that as I get used to eatting differently.

After three weeks of no movement on the scale, I weighed in this morning and am "officially" down 2 lbs. It was a little more than that few days ago though, so I'm hiding the scale this week so I can't obsess about it. I took DD to a birthday party on Saturday and could not resists the "Costco" cake they were serving. I have ZERO willpower against those. I served a costco cake at my daughters birthday party last year and literally gained 5 lbs that week from eatting the leftovers. It's so good it is definitely a sin - this year I'm going to have to serve something I don't like so much. ;)

I was also terrible about recording my points/calories this weekend, and I'm sure I was WAY over even without the cake.

Anyway, I'm glad that it is Monday though because I focus so much better during the work week than I do on the weekends. DH means well, but his idea of dieting is Atkins and it just blows my points out of proportion eatting all those fatty meats. He did bake a chicken yesterday and it was awesome! I highly recommend those "drunk" chicken bakers - its always so moist and tasty! We'll be having leftovers tonight, so that is good.

I better get back to work now. Here's to another week and a new beginning - and to learning to forgive ourselves and move on. :)

Hi girls, I'm going to bed but I'm very hungry. I wish I was more tired so I could sleep and forget about being tempted to go hit the kids snack drawer :dizzy: This is my worst time of day, my sweet tooth really wants something. I'll try to read and doze off. Last night DH heard my stomach growling when we were in bed! I ate all my points today so it's not like I'm banking too much. Oh well, I guess I'll go count some sheep.....with my luck they'll be jumping over a fire pit smothered with garlic, rosemary and olive oil :^:

Well, I made it to bed without eating (see last post).

Monday: B: cereal w/ blueberries, tea L: grapes, 1 biscotti, few shrimp, 3 rice cakes D: chicken w/ salsa, brocolli & baked potato w/ LF sour cream S: granola bar Exercise: none Vitamins: none Water: hardly any
(and I wonder why I have no energy and aren't losing a lot :?: :?: )

My boss is away today. I wish I brought in sneakers and I could have walked before or after lunch. I used to go to a mostly deserted stairwell and go up and down two flights for about 10 minutes. I had a few girls who did it with me so I had company. I don't know if I could do that myself though, maybe too boring :( Last night on my way home I heard a disco song and I regretted that I don't know how to dance. I bet that would be great exercise and fun. Has anyone heard of geocaching? It's like a treasure hunt on hiking trails, someone hides a box with a personalized rubber stamp in it. They then post the coordinates of the box and you go and find it and stamp your own book with their stamp and leave them a piece of paper with your stamp on it. I guess it's done worldwide. I was thinking of trying it with the kids for some exercise. We tried it once last year at the trails near our house but we couldn't find the box.

I hope everyone is doing good on their eating this week. :)

Hiya ladies. I see that we're all facing similar challenges as we go through this, and I can honestly say that having our own little support group has definitely been helpful for me.

Here's to another week and a new beginning - and to learning to forgive ourselves and move on. :)

Just got to say that I agree with you Tina, this support group is helping me as well, I haven't lost weight yet,,, however I know I will and I'm staying focused this week and like you said I'm learning to forgive myself for mistakes, its about changing my lifestyle and not just about losing the weight.:D (and I'm going to try the Orbitz gum, orange sounds yummy)

Maureen congrats on the weight loss by the way, you too Tina, something is better than nothing right?? And you are headed in the right direction and that is the important part.... soo :jig: heres a little dance for you all.

I did o.k. yesterday, Boss travels alot so she brought in our Valentines day treats early, she gave us each a small red bucket filled with Reese's peanut butter cups (my personal fav) and Hersey's kisses. I did end up having two (I threw the rest of them in the trash, I had to or else I would of ate them all!!!!!!), but I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were only 4 points for 2. I wasn't sure if that was correct so I just doubled that and gave myself 8 points. I was still within my points range so I was very happy...... I also did the bike last night for 30 minutes, I hope to keep that up everyday this week, we'll see how that goes, I didn't work as late yesterday as I thought I would have to so I came home at around 6:30 ate dinner (4 potato and broccoli perogis with 1 tbl FF sour Cream 6 points) went and rode the bike for 30 minutes while watching some goofy show on tv, and then I sat and played with my DS for the rest of the night. Maureen, I get hungry at night too, the time between 9:00 - 11:00 I'm very snacky, what I've been doing is buying FF whipped cream (in the can) and I've been making myself a cup of Sugar-Free Hot Chocolate with a squirt of the whipped cream on top and it actually satisfies my snackiness. I wanna say its like 2 points, at least that is what I've added it up as. I like to have sweets after I eat dinner,,,

At any rate I should get to work, I've been here for 40 minutes and have managed to do nothing........I'm alittle hungry right now as well, I had a cup of Oatmeal with splenda and 1/3 cup of Craisens for breakfast, which usually fills me up, but for some reason it isn't today, so I'll crack open my vegetable juice and give it a swig maybe that'll help.

Hope you all have a great day,,,,,,, (what happened to everyone else????) and good luck with your choices..... :carrot:

Andrea: Great job on throwing out the candy and riding the bike :ebike:
Thanks for the hot cocoa suggestion. I did buy a can of sugar free whipped cream in the can but haven't tried it yet. DD used some last night, her and her friend are inventing foods and they made "coco peanut" which consisted of a graham cracker topped with peanut butter, coconut, whip cream and sprinkles! LOL At least the name is better than their other concoction, "hot crack"!: that's cheese melted on crackers in the micowave.

Tina: congrats on the 2 lbs! I'll try the gum idea too, thanks! I also agree I get a lot of good support from this board, writing my menu keeps me honest and less apt to eat those little bites here and there. I also like the recipes and hopefully all the reading about exercise will inspire me to get moving.

Tuesday menu: B: cereal w/ blueberries, tea L: Lean Cuisine, yogurt S: 2 rice cakes D: chicken & sauteed peppers, cheese, sour cream in a wrap, crust from DS cornbread toast. Points: about 24 Vitamins: no Water: 24 oz. Exercise: no (did clean out desk in kitchen)

I forgot my sneakers again but I do have on comfortable flat shoes so maybe I'll walk a little bit if boss isn't around.

Do you think we should come up with a name for our group? Any ideas?

I hope everyone is doing good.

Hi girls. I was wondering if anyone wants to merge with another thread as it seems not many are posting here. I see the 30 something with 30 something to lose has also lost some of their posters and are looking for new blood...anyone up for merging? If not, we can stay here and hope that the others return home! LOL Just a thought.

Sounds like a good Idea Maureen, I agree I think we've lost a couple and it helps to have a larger resource base to pull from when you are in need of advise and what not.... Its nice to get a lot of different opinions. ;)

Hi girls. I lurked in the The Diet Journey of 2006 which started just a few days before our thread and it looks like a great group where at least a half dozen people post each day. I'm going to post there today and hopefully those of you still here will come and post there as well. I'll check back here later and tomorrow to see if there's still people posting. I'll post both places if any of you remain here and keep posting.
