I had an EVENTFUL night. DD came in and puked all over me and my bed at 11pm and down the hall and up the bathroom walls. Poor kid. She was sick until 2 am every few minutes.
Needless to say the bed has been stripped ,carpet and floors scrubbed etc. All in the middle of the night. Then our sump pump alarm went off at 6 am. The power was out so hubby ran out the door in his undies and my parka (giggle) to turn on the generator. I slept in fits and starts.
Lot of of lightening and thunder.
It is March break!!!!!!!!!!
Hubby is home because of the rain and DD slept late and DS is quite happy.
The house is very messy from all the in and out with the hockey tourny yesterday.
Been to the egg lady, post office, did some Avon stuff, and hardware store.
Does anyone else get totally excited by the hardware store and their flyers????? It is my fav store.
DS has been scraping my steamer trunk. It is in pretty bad shape. 105 years old and sat in a basement for the last 40-50. I will restore it as best as possible. It was my Great Grandmothers.
Ds off to his friends for supper. DD colouring. Hubby being “lazy”. Temps are supposed to drop to freezing tonight and a snow storm tomorrow. It is currently 14C/58F.
Closet cleaned out.Soap watched.
Time to have a tea and clean the stinkin kitchen.
HUGS dear chicks!!!!!!

:elf: As I :write: to all of you, there is a Christmas dvd on my player! :hohoho: Sam Goody's store is going out of business and for $1.49 there was a 2 disc Xmas Pictures with Music of the Holidays!!:xcheer: It sounds funny cause it's over 70* outside! I hate to say this but.....I had gift cards still left over from xmas and couldn't really find a lot of stuff to buy for myself. So I got some more books, shampoos, a bit of arts & crafts paper and started my Xmas shopping!:present: ( Ruthie is probably gonna come here and slug me;rollpin: )
There were some bargains and I scooped them up. I also bought Jen an outfit and an adorable little beaded top with some of my Xmas bonus from the job. She did a lot of work for me after the accident all Summer. I thought it only fair cause they never gave her a dime. I did have a wonderful day! Gotta love spending someone else's $$$$$$$$$$$$ :moped:
Happy~ The day got even brighter when I came home and found 12 NY Firemen waiting for me on my desk! :lol3: :lol3: Jen and I drooled over them and had great laughs while she opened her new clothes!! You made my day!! Thank you so much!! god I would jump any one of them.....I might even be able to walk again with that kind of therapy!!!!
Shad~ Jen and I are going to look at those sights about Chris over the weekend. I hope you pass on my love and good wishes and thanks for the quick answer!!!
Ceejay~ tornados!!!:yikes: :faint: I saw some of the destruction thisa morning before I left and it was horrible. Stay safe my friend:hug:
Madcat~ Happy printer shopping!!! I can't wait to see tha movie. I have the dvd but couldn't settle down this weekend if ya know what I mean. Hope the invitations come out well!!!
Linus~ glad the boys are getting better and tell them to be taking better care of themselves before they upset Aunt Fannie!!!
Red~ You should be receiving a parcel soon as I am airmailing my wash to you!!
Suzi~ WOW!! What energy!! The rooms sounded nice and I love those colors too. come and do mine...maybe some polka dots for me as well!!:carrot:
Holly~ Hope your DD feels better and you got a chance to sit down at some point or at least get a nap in!!! god what a night you both had. Porr kid. Poor you.
Now where the **** is Painter Woman again??? I will have to send mail and haunt her back here!!! Teel is still teasing us by diappearing on and off and Nae must have been carried away by the effing elks or some other wild creatures!! Tig is probably out there running around town with that cough!!! Clara??????? Meadow??????
OK gotta put all my goodies away and get organized. I need to put a pain patch on my back too. It doesn't like to shop and then come home and type!!!!
DD is resting, DH is mudding dry wall!! Kitties are cuddling, i am making some beef barley soup, yum.
Put out a clutter fire on my DR table.
Tossed out my old cutlery tray( 18 years old,ew) and put in a new system.
Gonna tinkle some ivories.

It's going to have to be quick again today I'm afraid. More work than I can handle, more to do, running out of time. I can see me typing away stating that class will start when I have finished this Quick Reference Guide and run off 57 copies.
Still grey and humid out there. The best time to be out seems to be night when the sky is clear and the stars are out. The minute it becomes daylight this awful cloud descends from the hilltops and blots out the blue.
Went running again this morning. Lovely breeze coming from the hills down to the sea. All the old folk seem to be out at that time of the morning. They go for a swim down in the salt water pools on the waterfront. It's great to see them all getting out and exercising and catching up on the days gossip as well.
Mel - it really isn't Christmas any more. Please do not confuse me. The heat is going away down here and is replaced by more moderate temps. We DO NOT NEED IT BACK thank you very much.
How the heck did 12 NY firemen fit on your desk??????? :yikes:
And who is Clara? Am I missing someone here??????
Holly - sorry to hear the DD is not well. If it's not one darned thing, it is another with kids. Expect the DS to do something similar soon.
Red - I might just send some of my wash over to you as well. I object to having to pay extra for my laundry at this place.
Ceejay - I hope those tornadoes are not near you. Keep dry and safe. I read some awful descriptive posts from another thread. They sound dreadful.
Madcat - I'll let you all know as soon as possible about dates and times for visits. If I ever get time to plan things out. This place is going crazy just now. Typical Project. 40 days to finish what should be about 3 months of writing. Still at least the templates are reasonable.
Gotta go. More tales from the 'gong later.

Well I only managed 7 miles last week. This cold was just tricking me and the snot production and coughing came back. I am still dreaming of spring. Bought some peat moss, fertilizer and borrowed the inlaws rotertiller for when the ground thaws :p Still need to get some manure of some sort to bump up the nitrogen content. I have been doing some more painting. My lady is finished and hanging above my bed. I am working on a bit of colour for the livingroom wall now.
Mel-I adore Christmas music, always makes me happy :D How nice that you were able to indulge in so much shopping. What books did you buy? I'm totally curious. I just finished a couple of Joy Fielding books from the library. I like to know what peaks other's interests.
Shad-So you were running around old folks? You don't half like to set yourself challenges. What if one of them had stuck out their foot? Sorry that you are finding yourself so busy but I guess you whiz through the day that way.
Holly-ew, projectile vomit, poor baby. I bet you had a few dry heaves yourself during the cleanup  Crazy time here, there is mud everywhere outside and the kids gravitate to it. Spring break is dirty business :)
Red-my weight loss is nonexistent, how is yours going? Happy laundry day:D
Linus-Is Craig alright? Sounds like he was put through the wringer. I hope you aren't feeling too stressed. If it isn't the little CJ, it is the big boys. They would be lost without you, feel your power! :strong:
Ceejay-did the tazmanian devil weather system sneak past you with out damage? I hope you are alright.
Madcat-I hope you get a lovely colour printer. You can find pics online and create your own wall art that way;) Glad to hear that the invitations are soon to be done and sent away. I thought the dress was amazing too, very understated but dramatic. You look glamorous and elegant.
Happy-I wish you would send up some of that lovely southern heat my way and thaw this ground properly. It is frozen at night and thaws to mud during the day totally icky. There is more going on in Memphis than Elvis isn't there? I know I've read something about there that wasn't linked to a music guy. Isn't St. Jude hospital around there? I find their treatment center fascinating to read about. Such dedicated, beautiful spirits there.
Suzi-your daughters room sounds like a grand concoction. I bet she smiles every time she enters the room. Great for her to get to decorate with her own style. Congratulations on your beautiful garden, wish I had one too :( Maybe one day;)
Spring is around the corner, next Monday!

Today I was lucky enough to be invited for a day trip from freezing San Fran to Sonoma wine country. Went with a very nice couple I had met here on previous visits, very warm and friendly. We visited 5 wineries and I got back to town awash in Zinfandel and Sauvignon Blanc...A nice break from feeling uncomfortable where I'm staying. Also an unintentional coup - the wine I brought back for my sort-of hosts turned out to be from their favorourite winery, which made m quite popular. And on Wed I'm off for 3 days on my own. The plan is to go shopping at the outlets in Gilroy (the garlic capital), and if it's just as chilly there, maybe some garlic soup or something to ward away colds. Then one more weekend, and then home. I'm trying to look at the whole trip as a positive experience, one that has taught me some good lessons about proper planning and realistic expectations.
I think I may be the Clara mentioned by Mel. Has all that Christmas cheer muddled her fingers?
I haven't seen news, weather, or a paper in days. Was Ceejay's tornado a bad one? I sure hope not!
Madcat, you may not be in any shape to meet with anyone the week of your wedding, but if you have time to kill ( ) just give a holler. I don't know what my schedule will be, but will have some idea closer to the day.
Rosie the resident cat has already crawled under the covers and wants me to turn out the lights already, so...

Carla~ You are indeed the 'clara' I was missing! :lol3:
Sorry! LOL At least I had the right letters!! Yes I am befuddled with the newfound Xmas spirit!! Disoriented even! Part of me will be glad when you are home but the other part knows the lessons are good too....as much as I hate them myself. In my next life I am coming back as a real Hermit....cave and all  The wine trip sounded lovely though. Gotta be loving the scenery!!
Shad~ for a short post it was pretty detailed including CLARA!!! :lol3: :lol3: Glad you are busy as it may save lives!!! Keeping you occupied is a full time job I am sure. Hope the week goes well and you will really appreciate the weekend and Sunday! YOU might even be purring this time. The 12 men were On a calendar but a girl can dream can't she?????
Holly~ MERRY CHRISTMAS BACK TO YOU AND HAPPY HOUSE FIXING!!! With luck you will be done by Xmas:rofl:
Meadow~ Your Spring wreath is gorgeous and just what I needed on this cool gloomy morning. Our temps are swinging between the 40's and 70's. makes me shiver when they drop. I bought more 'cozy cottage' mysteries as they call them in the book clubs. PARNELL HALL AND MARY DAHEIM the authors. Very light reading and no nightmares. It seems I am what I read!
Your 7 miles is great! Nice going. there are lots of manure all over the websites, pity we cannot use it in our gardens!!
On Wednesday and Thursday is Arts& Crafts. We never got to the hat making for Easter. Too many people were missing including myself. So I am taking the day off today. Trying to space out my food shopping and my committments(sp). Friday I will get the fresh veggies and fruits. I felt a bit skinny so I got on the scale. Another 1.5 lbs is gone and I am 178:carrot: 4.5 lbbs gone again! Now if I can just keep t off, stick with it and get past that magic (NOT!!) number!! A few more weeks to go but I am getting impatient to find out!!! :lol3:
OK on with the day!!!!
Have a Happy Tuesday!!! :scooter:

I wasn't able to get on the computer until now!
I am sore!!!!! Today at the gym our instructor for our step class has been gone last week for a cruise and she came back all re-energized and ready to go and HOLY CRAP she worked us hard, but, I loved it! I just really feel it right now!
Meadow Hang in there! Your weighloss should get back on track! How much have you lost? How long have you been at this? What are you doing for exercise and diet?
Shad,Melody and Meadow Sorry to be a bummer, but no thanks on the offer to do your laundry! I barely can get through mine! I can't imagine having any more kids (I have 1DS 15years, and 1 DD 2years and of course my DH!) Thats all I get done on Mondays! :dizzy:
I have to run
Hope you all are having a wonderful day! :carrot:

Evening all,
I think there's been some residual problems with the site given other posts - so it's not you Ceejay. We barely got some rain here - seems like the more ferocious weather stayed up your way. It's like we're in a bowl here - bad weather seems to pass north or south of us - tho I'm not complaining mind you!
Holly, just curious - you seem to really delight in being by yourself. So why choose marriage and a family then? Seems like you would have been very happy as a free spirit answering to no one but yourself. Of course after the other night I could see why you'd be glad to sweep everyone out the door. Enjoy your cheese and crackers and oysters.
Mel, thanks for clearing up the Clara thing. I thought Clara was one of the seniors that attached herself to you. Glad you liked the firemen. It started with finding you a suitable picture and when I saw the calendar, it just screamed Mel will appreciate us fine strapping men. Now you won't forget to look at the calendar and miss things  (I also talked them into hunting around your apartment after you've gone to sleep and HIDING ALL THE CHRISTMAS STUFF!!!!! :sssh: and  for the weight loss so far!!!
YesIcan - good going on the great workout! :cp:
Carla, I've heard of Gilroy, it sounds interesting. Have never been able to get over that when when I was in town. DH was never as interested in it as I was :( Will be curious to hear your thoughts...
Meadow, sorry to hear that you are on round 2 of the sneezers. We just got a cold dip from Canada that pushed the temps to normal which now feels a bit chilly. Once it warms up again in a few days, I'll push some of that heat over your way. Yes, we do have the big St. Jude's Children's Hospital in town here. I have not made my way over there yet, tho I have been a long time supporter of the hospital.
Tales from the 'gong - eh Shad? I like the sound of that. Sounds like the big squeeze is already on and you've only been there what - 2 weeks? Hope all the bits come together. Nothing worse than being under the gun when the computers and printers and copy machines don't work.
Madcat, I would not call Toronto boring. I was there a long, long time ago and enjoyed my visit. Worst thing was I had checked the weather before hand and did not know you had a freak warm spell. So I packed accordingly. As the plane broke through the clouds, there was snow all over the ground (as it should have been in February) :yikes: no hat, scarf or boots. Gave me a good excuse to go shopping. I still have a few Canadian dollars left from that trip. I think Shad would enjoy it - lots of nice architecture and not overly crowded.
Linus - what happened to Craig???? Never a quiet moment for you, is there?
Tomorrow is girls night out. We are going to dinner and to see a one man show - Defending the Caveman - it's a man talking about the differences between men and women. Has been running a long time throughout the country - they say the women are rolling in the aisles laughing and the guys just sit there with a smirk on their faces. That's why this will be a GIRLS night out  I'm looking forward to it, even if it is mid week and I have to go to work on Thursday.
I stood up after brushing my teeth and my back did one of those klunks - kind of when you turn your head and your neck goes - kah-lunk and you get that weird sound and the hot pain. I've had to be very careful the last 2 days - even "cat stretch" exercises are uncomforatable. Don't know what happened but there was no hanging over a pool table for me tonight. I can't say I missed it.
Time to get to bed, long day tomorrow. 'Night all.

Mel thanks for the funny one....it cracked me up. Christmas in March.... what a girl. The elk have not carried me away but I am not myself for the last couple of days. I am in some pain and misery with my back... ha ha not so funny for someone who teached back mechanics... but I am mending slowly and hope to be myself by the weekend. My cousin Lynny came over the weekend and we did some tree trimming hauled rocks and a few other chores..... think that could be my problem!!!!!!!!
SHad a trip to this part of the country so great. I hope you always know if you make it close to my place to let me know you have a place to stay. You are looking at big country between Canada and the northwest US and so many gorgeous sights to behold!
So nice to hear everyone's goings on....with Spring in the air we all seem to be thinking about flowers and vegies from the gardens we dream about. Except for Miss Mel she is walking in a winter wonderland!
I have always had compassion for my patients with pain but I have reached a new level of compassion now.....yes Happy I know what you are saying girl I hope you get your back to rights also.......
My thoughts to all of you.....
Peace,

Happy~ I am an interesting soul , eh. LOL!!
I lived alone from ages 17-32. Hubby lived alone from ages 18-37.We were both good at it and quite happy.
I have been caring for babies and children since my sister was born and I was 2.5 years old. I was the oldest of all my cousins and family friend's kids. I KNEW from then on I would have children.I also knew that I wanted to be in a certain place with myself and have a certain type of partner( if I had a partner).Hence my marriage. The things that make my hubby a good father are his old fashioned values. It is a challenge as a partner because even tho he knows it is wrong he would be quite happy with a 1950's housewife like his mom was.
I have devoted every waking hour( and a few sleeping ones) of the last 8 years to my children and husband. This is the fist time since 1998 that i have been alone for more than a few hours.
it is all about finding the balance.
We have lived in the house for 6 years and today is the first time i have ever woken up alone here.
When you have children, the part of a woman seems to lose touch with is the free spirit because if you are going to be a good parent you need to keep it in check.
I am also freespirited in the sense that I am a stay home Mom and that I have 2 jobs to work at from home, not popular choices but all on my terms. Much our our lifestyle is freespirited. I really dont know anyone else like us in our choices.
I have been an etrepeneur for 13 years.
Hubby and I both knew we did not want to live the rest of our lives alone so went into our relationship as equals. We are both very strong personalities. He is also very independent and freespirited. It is challenging. We are building a life together with the same goals and ideals. That is nice.
I have grown as a person more in the last 10 years than the 30 years previous. Very cool albiet annoying at the same time, LOL!
HUGS!!!!

Morning (and/ or evening to those down under).
CeeJay ~ I’m glad you missed the worst of the storms. I for one was worried.
Happy ~ I think I was more commenting on the landscape being boring around here – in comparison to the lovely west coast. I think Toronto is one of the truly great cities of the world – but then since I was born here and I am hardly unbiased. ;) A study recently showed that we are the most culturally and ethnically diverse city in the world and that leads to a certain tolerance that I find refreshing. Where else could you find a sushi place, a Halal meat shop and a Greek bakery happily side by side on the same block? Sure, we have our problems such as homelessness, misguided city planners, and gun violence (which is new enough for us that we find it shocking and appalling), but we also are big enough to have all the big city perks (great museums and theatre, lots to do for people of every taste, a neat neighbourhoods to wander through) but still small enough to be manageable. I suspect, that even if I end up living elsewhere in my life, this city will always be my home. <End of Toronto Tourism Board Message> :D
MEL ~ Personally I like the idea of Christmas in March! Can we do Easter in July next?? You are doing great in the weight loss race. Keep it up.
Rosebush ~ Sorry the back is acting up. You could be right about rock hauling.
Holly ~ I know what you mean. The hardest part of living with another person is being able to carve out some time for you. It was one of the biggest adjustments I had to make with TB and I first got together. I loved (!!!) living alone. I’m glad you were able to carve out some space for yourself. Maybe you need to make this a more regular occurrence? Could you maybe plan a solo weekend away here and there? Solitude is good for the soul and 18 years is too long to wait for your next opportunity. And Mmmmm oysters…:hun:
Red ~ How’s the motivation going? Goood work on the butt kicking class. See people should go on vacation.
Shad ~ The problem with most projects is that they are scoped by people whose specialty is budgeting and who have no idea how long it takes to actually write a document or plan out proper training. “Oh yeah, we need a quick ref guide – that will take, what, about an hour?” Sure an hour to write if you have the couple of days planning time to figure out what should go into the thing. Thank goodness for templates. No one ever realized how long that part of the project takes. Hang in there, my friend. If anyone can pull there ashes out of the fire, you can. I love “Tales from the ‘gong”!
Meadow ~ sorry the goo is back. How great that you finished the painting. Unfortunately due to “budgetary constraints” I couldn’t afford a colour printer and had to settle for B&W. I want to get some of TBs 3DMax art plaque-mounted for him (he’s really good). There are at least some service places that will take graphic files and print and mount them. I’ll have to settle for that. What are you thinking of for the living room?
Carla ~ Glad the side trip was so nice. Hey, you are off today on your solo trip. Have a terrific time!
As for me, I’m having some physical problems that are making me reassess my approach to this venture. My knees are really hurting (I do have arthritis so that isn’t new) but now the pain is spreading to my hips. I suspect the 5 times a week workouts combined with the extra weight I’m carrying around is causing it. With that in mind, I am going to go back to WW and see if that helps. I just can’t carry 168 lbs around on this frame and I have to do something. I had great success with WW before but I wasn’t able to keep it up and keep the stupid weight off. Maybe second time is the charm?? The meeting is at noon today. Wish me luck.
I better get some work done. Later chickies!!

Morning all,
Quick post update. Good to see so many posting. I just took another look at the list of documents to be written and the initials beside them. I was in a blue fit yesterday. Add to that I need (apparently) to decide on the MM data to be entered into the training box and accordingly create the specs for that. Thank heaven someone else is uploading it. I think yesterday was my bluest day in a while. Today I don't feel so bad.
However having said that, I'm having breathing problems down here. I think it is all stemming from Sinus' and for some reason I am bloated. Needless to say, running is a pain in the proverbial but I drag the butt out there at least to walk if I can't run. My little sinus inhalers are getting a work out and I'm having a hassle sleeping - mainly because the mind doesn't seem to want to switch off. I'm calling a meeting with the other MM developer today and we will see what is left to do. I think some of my stress problems are coming from the fact that I am trying to get my head around 3 modules, Materials Maintenance or warehouse stuff, PM - Plant Maintenance (fixit stuff) and High level Accounting accounting (creative accounting for beancounters stuff). I'm getting confused!!!
Okay, gotta go. Sorry to be such a pain. Would love to reply to all the chicks but just don't have time. I'll catch up over the weekend.
See ya

Shad--I have a good case of the blues. I really think I'm a bit depressed.
I burst into tears for no reason at all.
Mel----You really"cracked" me up yesterday via email. I had to show that to Lisa and she laughed as much as I did. I needed that thanks.
Madcat-- Thanks for thinking about me. Sorry your knees are hurting. I'll take you up on that challenge. I've just remotivated myself to start again.
Carla-- I know what you mean about SF and being cold. I am making plans on going to California this summer to visit with my niece. She lives about an hour from SF via the Bart.
Meadow--feel better soon.
Hello to all the rest.
I've completed a 30 minute walk plus 15 minute strength session here at work. I'm here by myself most of the time anyway and I decided that I'm to tired to really do any thing after working these 12 hour shifts.
Things haven't been going so well at work this week but I've been proud of myself for not feeding those emotions.

Ha ha Holly - spent so much time wishing for these free days to come and now you miss the kids. Stand up stretch, go do the dusting of the crystal, break out the diamond tiara and get moving girl. Take the old boy out for a night on the town. These times come all too rarely and you have to make the most of them as they pop up. Sure you miss the kids, but they will be back and you will sit there wondering what the **** you missed them for.
Sorry to hear of all the problems on the site for you chickies. I have had a few times when the server is too busy, but that is all. Just remember to copy your posts and then you can try again. Or type it in word or notepad and then copy it across at your leisure. Put the cursor where you want the message to go, hold down the Ctrl key and press V (V for victory). Voila your message will display. I've got heaps to do and I am going home tonight again - Yea it is Friday. So I had better go get on with it. I have a horrible feeling that we are going to be a trainer or maybe even two short round here in the future - anyone want a job in the 'Gong??? Working with half crazed, sleep deprived, drunken workaholics???? Day's are at least 11 hours long. No weekends unless you go home and the business wants us to test the system as well. Our team lead put out an e-mail the other day to state that if her trainers were going to burn themselves out working weekends , they would be doing it on training materials. Weird sense of humour that girl.
Okay. More tomorrow, only these will be tales from Queensland.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that is having trouble with this sight. Maybe we should tell Suzanne.
I have a pretty good day. Started the day off with stubbing my little toe and thought I had broken it. Went to a water meeting, then to the doctor to have lab work for the thyroid to have med's refilled. He also checked my toe and told me that it was bruised. It has eased my mind. Ughhh, locked myself out of the house. I'm going to bed early.
Holly--I understand about missing your kids. I dont have any myself but I adore my cousins children.

I am "working" today. 2 babysitting kid and and 1 friend for DS.
At 10am I am taking the troops to a movie/pizza day in town. Hope they behave.
I did do paperwork all day yesterday.
Had a convo with a local farmer about prices/taxes/cost of living...he thinks it is only going to go up. sigh. I am way worried already.
My sinuses are full again.
Have a glorious day!!

'Mornin peeps... :coffee:
Weather was beautiful yesterday, today it's going to be 25 degrees cooler. Brrr. Make up your mind! I worked for an hour after work in the yard cleaning up sticks and picking up dead leaves. Just barely made a dent in things. The azaleas are peeking their little heads out. A few flowers here and there, by next week it should be looking mighty pretty out there. The birds are out singing, particularly the mockingbirds and robins. I put a plate out with some sliced grapes, the mockingbirds were having a feast. DH got them hooked on granola bars. I guess everyone likes sweet!
I've got a busy day ahead. Last day to finish up all my projects at work. Monday I start intensive training for 6 weeks on my report tools on the job. Gotta hit the books to refresh my memory on all I forgot in the last year while I was off doing other project work. :?: :dizzy:
Oh and Happy St. Patrick's Day to all who are Irish or honorary Irish today. :lucky: :lucky: :lucky: Not too much green beer and corned beef, you hear? :lol3:
Gotta run. Have a good day and to those already looking at the weekend, enjoy!
And at 36 pages long, we should probably reconsider setting up a new home, don't you think? What about touring Canada this next time around?

Didn’t get to the WW meeting on Wednesday since I got caught up in a document, finally got the SME I needed to talk to in a corner and wasn’t going to let him go until I had wrung all available info out of his head. Sometimes you have to pounce on opportunities when they present themselves.Might try again next week. Maybe I have some sort of WW mental block? I lost all the weight on it and then couldn’t keep it off. Maybe I don’t believe it will work? Dunno. This requires mmor ethought.
Ceejay ~ If you can, post now and again. Maybe they’ll solve whatever issue is causing your problems?
Happy~ Yeah, it might be time to reset. If we have Canada locations we should have at least one trendy downtown loft apartment among the locations.
Mel ~ How’d the arts and crafts go?
Shad ~  Just keep saying “who will die if it doesn’t all get done?” It helps me keep it in perspective. I swear the hardest part of contracting is having to hit the ground running. Good thing you are a quick study – and you must be or you wouldn’t still be in demand for the work you do. The head will get wrapped around things in no time. Funny, for a minute I pictured “Plant Maintenance” to do with watering and dusting leaves :D
Holly~ Don't worry. I think your farmer friend might not be right. The economy is still going fine and I just heard Bank of Canada doesn't plan any big interest hikes for a bit. Unless something odd happens to the dollar or to the American economy, we should be fine.
Frankly the idea of green beer and corned beef turns my stomach - probably due to bad childhood memories of canned corned beef (you had to open the can with a key). It was this catfood like mess that my Mom would mix with mayo and serve on white bread. Ew. Regular corned beef from a deli is fine (especially if that Deli is the Carnegie Deli in New York City) – but too fatty to be anything except a very occasional treat. BTW, I have Irish friends who refer to people who go out drinking on St. Paddy’s day as “amateurs”.
On an up note, the wedding invitations are DONE! And they look nice. Not bad consider that they were the first real artistic collaborative venture between TB and I. We did have our creative differences, but lived to still be talking to each other. I just have to address those that need to be mailed and then start handing out the ones being hand delivered. Last count the guest list was around 50 (given that a few won’t show probably). It will be a nice size. One less thing to worry about.
I better go back to pretending to do some work. Had vegetarian Indian food at lunch and I’m soooo sleepy. I’ll have to walk home tonight.

Yep, it is time for a new home, but...........
I appear to have had my wallet stolen from the end of my bed. Stupid me, let the cat out of the sliding door in my bedroom and left the security screen open enough for her to get back in while I went to the kitchen, loo and bathroom. Came back to bed, didn't shut the security, slept till 5am and now can't find the wallet. Have managed to find a few coins on the driveway and path. I can only guess that some lowlife was already in the back yard when I got up. Talk about cheeky. So far in the last 2 hours I have cancelled the credit card, the debit card, the mobile phone )attacjed to the organiser wallet. called the police, and am trying to figure out how to cancel my drivers licence given that the transport department doesn't seem to have an after hours phone number. So how I am supposed to get any money from my account between now and the replacement time I don't know since I won't be able to get to the bank this weekend. Nobody cashes cheques anymore.
So, I guess I might as well get on with some yard work while I wait for the cops to arrive if they ever do.
I don't feel much like sorting out a new thread right now - maybe someone else would like to do it. That might also sort out a few problems for those with smaller or older PC's

:grouphug: Shad, so sorry to hear about the wallet and phone. Imagine the devils to brazenly come right into the house. Just goes to show you, it's a crappy world full of scumbag lowlifes.
Of all the travelling you do, you would think the last place you would have problems would be at home.
Hope the police showed up in a reasonable amount of time. If they catch the :censored: and you need a little help teaching him a lesson, just tie him to the portico and give us a ring.
I'll set up the new thread later tonight - found us a nice Victorian to rent in Toronto - can't really tell if it's in the "trendy" part of town but it looks and sounds lovely. But first I have to call mum...

Shad, I hope you found your cards and all and blew the miscreant up real good. What a bummer.
I wouldn't dare to push for a Canadian home, but would love to suggest Montebello as a summer home... it's in Quebec, close to Ontario, and is the biggest log cabin structure in the world (or in Canada - who knows).
Gotta go - battery almost dead.

Well I am back,
I have a new phone and am still trying to figure out how to use it. Thank heavens I still have the same number. I'd hate to have to tell everyone of a new one having had the old for so long. Of course I have lost my list of contacts numbers, fax numbers and home numbers and it will take a while to get them all back again, but there you go.
Police man was very understanding. He arrived while I was out and then later took a statement over the phone. He is sending out the fingerprint people but the message is not to hold my breath. I'm having a problem with the drivers licence - I need it for driving funnily enough. I've found sites on the web where I can start the new job in motion from the 'Gong. Same with my Medicare card. The one thing that is interesting me now is the Airport Parking card in Sydney. I don't know whether it is in the wallet or in the car as I remember chucking it on the dash while I did a couple of things and I don't remember picking it up. I have to find the number of the bloke I took up to Sydney so he can back me up about the time we arrived there on Friday night. I may have to get the Police Crime sheet number as well if the card is not in the car. It's a pain.
DB2 came to the rescue and has given me some money to carry on with. I think I can manage on what he gave me. He has been very good in the last week. All his pay was still in the bank when I checked this morning and paid his credit card for him. He tells me that he is glad to be able to give something back. I hope the attitude lasts.
Happy or Madcat is dealing with our new home, so I'll leave it with them. Canada sounds divine to me - especially if they promise to have Spring springing by the time I get there.
I had the DB2 and the kids around for the footy today. Niece is having a revival of the Glandular fever she suffered a couple of years back. Always seems to come back once in a while. Nephew was being very chatty today. Life is still good. I have family, I have friends, I have the policeman's assurance that he will look the other way if I can find the lowlife. He tells me he is good at that. My footy teams both won. The cat still cares. I've got work to do and should be doing it at this moment, not sitting here chatting to you. I've brought home some prepared material to check. So I will watch the tv and do that as I can.
Better get out of here and do something.
See ya tomorrow.

(((((((SHAD))))))) Just terrible.
I may need a shot of Bailey's in my coffee today!!!
Both my darling kidlets were put back to bed to start their days over. Very grumpy.
Still in holiday mode. Kids go back to school on Monday.
No plan for today yet but the house is tidy and i want to clean it thoroughly.
Mel~ enjoy your day.
Miss Mad~ They are putting in a sewer system right past our house that will cause our property taxes to double but it is for the next village and we cannot hook into it.
Our hydro is slated to jump a minimum of 12%. It went up 50% 3 years ago.
Groceries are creeping up steadily.Fuel is a 'bargain" at $ .92 a litre.
The problem for us is that our income has not changed in 5 years and our basic cost of living has gone up $1000/month. It is all beyond our control.
To increase our income would mean me working out in the work force or hubby going to Toronto or Windsor and only being home on the weekends and then we would not be here for our kids.It is a hard decision.
So, when we made the choices to live where we do and as we do, it was based on not using credit or having debt and our family values. It was well with in our means.Circumstances beyond out control may force us to compromise our family values just to live and not lose everything we have worked to build as a family.
We do not care about material things. We do want to eat fresh, whole grain and lean food. The cost to do so is outrageous. I buy in bulk hen thingsa re in season and can and freeze. We buy our meat by the 1/4 pig or cow or bulk.
I honestly dont know how to cut costs without compromising our wellbeing. Our vehicles are paid for.
Our ONLY extravagance is to have satelite to watch TV.It is $30/month.
Internet is necessary for my Avon and the kids school work.
Frankly it is depressing.
HUGS!!!

Shad~ Told Jen and we were both still shocked. Hope the pass is in the car and everything gets sorted. Good that you are efficient and can also take on that b*stard:rollpin: should you see him!! I mlove the copper's attitude!! I have big tires!! :scooter: Have wheels, will travel!
Carla~ I saw a program long ago on montabello. It was beautiful. I love log cabins and always have. Big or small.
Holly~ Jen and I were just talking about the prices of EVERYTHING!! Geez it's so hard to raise a family without having insanity attacks over finances. I think that is really what is pushing us to go back to basics here. Lack of income!! LOL

Oh my dear Shad what terrible news from you...I think I had better send Holly over for a while so she can be your security guard and even if she is hopeless at preventing any unwelcome visitors at least she will be able to bite them on the ankles!!!! :D
Went swimming again this afternoon. The water has been quite nice and warm recently and I have been three weeks on the trot. Shame the spa pool was out of order AGAIN!!!:kickcan: :kickcan: :kickcan: :dunno: :tape:
I am seriouly into card making right now!! I have just found a really great television channel on Satellite...its called "create and craft" and has a corresponding web site...oh dear I have just bought a whole basket full of goodies...even Christmas goodies......gosh I have mentioned the "C" word..that must be a record on our thread!!
Oooh so we are off to Canada! Mel will be in her element with all those Mounties running around in their brill uniforms, hee hee hee!!:o
England seems to be doing rather well in the commonwealth games especially in the swimming and the cycling and the shooting, as well as a silver in the rugby 7's...wonderful viewing in the morning.
I don't have a clue where I am heading for my summer holiday this year. Shad, are you and Chris still going to Italy? How is Chris, btw?
I haven't heard from Linus this week yet...have to ring maybe this evening, and see what tales she has to regale about her family this week!
Oh and my final bit of news is that friends of mine are hoofing it off to northward climes...yep, they're off to live and work in Scotland! Well, Alan will be based in Sterling which I know Shad has visited in the pastand I went to last summer...not that it was a particularly summers day when I went to view the castle.Alan was one of the founder members of the Christian folk band along with me, years ago, and his wife Dawn soon got to playing as well. I have known them and their daughter for years but recently their lives have gone in a different direction and I don't have any contact with them for months and months, unless they want me to see a parcel in to their house or something.. Anyway I shall miss Alan particularly. Nice spot for a holiday home!!!!
TTFN!!!!

Ah, Sterling Castle - Braveheart country. I remember it well. They had just finished refurbishing the great hall which had been gutted by fire (I think)
Ladies, thank you for the wonderful expressions of sympathy. It's not a nice thing and to know that mainly it is all my own fault as well........ Anyway, a couple more hurdles to overcome and I can move past this as well. Always something sent to try us. You learn from mistakes and decisions made. If you learn well, you come out of this as a better and stronger person. Phoenix rising from the ashes etc.
Teel - it doesn't really matter how big the dog is, it is a real deterrent. It's only since Shad passed away that we have had these problems around here. All the dogs have gone and there has been a spate of burglaries. Well there are the yappers on either side but no one takes much notice of them since they yap if a bird flies overhead. I did hear them during the night but as usual turned the good ear to the pillow and snored on. So hang onto Holly - she might be saving you from all this!
Ruth - it's good to hear from you as always. I'm looking at August/ September time for a visit to the big country. No definite plans as yet. Still trying to come to terms with the view that Italy is no longer on the menu and working so durned long hours. A lot will depend on how this job goes and when the next one rears it's ugly head. There is a fair amount of work about at the moment - all the big mining resources have decided to go overboard for training at the moment. Such blissful money making times can't last. Anyway, we will keep you informed as to the plans or lack thereof and I would love to visit and/or catch up. Get as many together as possible.
Holly - I feel for the predicament. Sometimes you simply have to make sacrifices to make ends meet. The thought of DH going off to the big smoke for a finite and limited period of time may make more sense than a family move to the smoke, on the other hand, that is two set of living expenses - can it be justified. I'm sure you will work out the odds and act accordingly. Meantime, ever increasing tightening of belts is necessary. It's difficult for all involved.
Carla - went and checked out the Chateau Montebello. It sure looks a great place to visit. There is a log cabin for sale down the road from me. It would fit into the swimming pool by the looks of it.
Suzi - I carry very little cash in my wallet. There was probably less than $50 in cash and notes in there. That's what makes it such a pain. There is little doubt he/ she was after the cash as I found coins on the driveway. And there was so little in it. Its the drivers licence and credit/ debit cards which are such a pain to live without.
Okay, well the day is dawning overcast and dull, so I had better go and get on with the things I didn't do yesterday. And I should give miss Puss some time today as well. She didn't get much 'joy' yesterday.
See you.

Hi ladies!
All your travels are making me want to hop in a suitcase somewhere...Scotland sounds lovely.
We are hoping to travel somewhere as a family too this year. DH has been amking noises about the States as he has a conference in orlando. We haven't done the Disneyworld or theme parks with the kids. I know they would love it. If we can work out the expenses we might be heading that way in July. I know it's hot but it would be great to have two summers in one year.
I've been a little absent in writing this past week. Sorry ladies. I must say it is great getting the update of the week in the inbox. It's wonderful reading.
I have redeeemed the week though, maybe tired myself out a little. Gardening and painting. The room is finished, shalf included with stencilled butterflies and looks lovely. I am very glad I did it. Now i have ideas about our room with a splah of colour here and there, it's very neutral at the moment and so it would certainly make a difference. At the moment it is a very soft green a i am thinking of injecting a rose pink. ...I will see. i don't want it dowdy or old fashioned....Parisian is more the idea!
I'll keep u posted on the interior design antics of this kiwi.
Teel  it's nice to see you. I didn't know that you were in a folk band?! That sounds fantastic....it's nice to meet a fellow muso. I love music with a passion and love to sing, can't get enough of the opportunity.
Shad, still sorry about your mishap. It is a pain to organise all those bits and pieces esp around a full time job...good luck with all that. i hope it's fast and without hassle.
Ok...I'm off for a walk with DH HI to everyone:cool: The sun is shining and it needs some attention. I think a gelato might be in order.
Enjoy the rest of your weekends.
Did I tell you all Ds1 got a job? just a part time one but it is quite momentous!
We are very proud of him, now he will finally learn the value of money....i hope! :)

DH and I went to a 40th Bday party for 2 hours tonight. The kids love having a sitter. we spent $10 for her and didn't drink at the party. Usually we take turns going to things but it sure is nice to go together.(again the balance issue: do something good for your marriage and your sanity or not).
The sitter gave the kids a new computer game called PETZ. Very cool. I let the kids stay up late to play it and I watched Trading Spaces.
All is quite relaxed.
I actually washed the kitchen floor today! Tossed out more stuff in DD"s room.
Time for some Debbie Travis.

Evening ladies,
A productive day - worked outside and cleared all the leaves and sweetgum pods "gumballs" out from the back yard. Filled up 5 bags worth. I'm sure I'll be feeling wonderful tomorrow.
Tonight DH and I had dinner and a date. Went to see a movie - Failure to Launch which was a good comedy. It was a nice evening.
I have set up the new thread - check it out Friends around the World #11 - The Canadian Tour (http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79283)- see you there
