Hey! It's that "special" day. Try to stay out of trouble, OK?

Schatzi is absolutely nuts! I sure hope Romano's wife doesn't read this board or she'll be stalking me. Too funny! Seriously though, he is a very nice man and has an excellent reputation. Too bad he's built like a fireplug.

The Girls are home and settled into their lazy doggage routine. I'm glad I put them in the kennel for a bit but it certainly was strange/lonely without them.
So far Lucy has managed to stay out of trouble. :)

Today is going to be an "at home" day again. Having these guys here sort of cramps my style as I worry about the dogs getting out if I'm not here. I am going to vote in the advance poll this afternoon and will just take them with me. Candice comes to clean this morning :carrot:which will keep them amused. They adore her and follow her around as she cleans.

Coffee is badly needed. I'll be back. :cofdate:

Good morning Ruth! I just came in to update my exercise post. It sounds like an active day you have planned. I hope it is a good one!

I ate poorly last night.:( I did well all day and just lost my mind. At least I exercised last night. It was my favorite instructor. I like her style and music. I have recently figured out the name of the instructor that I don't like so I can avoid the class when she teaches. I just don't enjoy that one. The one last night, I just love though.:D

Well, I have got to get a move on or I will never make it to work on time.;)

What on earth does a fireplug look like???? Ooooh hang on, are we talking about a fire hydrant..... them short stubby things on the streets in the States? Do they call them fireplugs in Canada?

Good morning, fellow babes. I'm hoping to get in on more of these morning chats. What a great way to start of the day! I stepped on the scale and I'm down another 3 pounds this week. I got so excited, I just had to log on and update my signature. As an added bonus, I decided to try on a smaller size and it FIT! :dancer:

Time to head in to work. Everyone have a great Friday!!!!

Good Morning Beach Chicks!!!

Hurray for Friday. Day 11 on Phase 1 for me today. I went slightly crazy yesterday...okay...I didn't have a bagel or anything like that - Yum Yum - but I did have two extra tablespoons of natural peanut butter and... I ate them right off the spoon!!! Thank Goodness the scale moved today or I might have just finished the rest of the jar before work.

Now I feel a bit more motivation to continue. I have found that I continue to crave all the bad foods no matter how well I eat or how strict I am with this plan. I wonder If I will always feel deprived in that way. This is worse than giving up smoking. I just did that at the end of October but if you gave me the choice between a cig and 4 or 5 gooey chocolate chip cookies right now there would be no contest. Bring on the cookies!!!

Enough of that whoa is me stuff. I am starting to regain a bit of my energy level which is usually high. My co-workers think I drink a lot of coffee or something but I am just usually hyper. Lately on the SBD I've felt a bit tired and run down. I know that is natural.

Well, this weekend my son goes to his father's for the wekend and I will miss him as I always do. I have to work Saturday half day and than plan next week's menu and go shopping for more healthy fresh foods. I hope everyone's day goes well.

Freaky - I have a ? for ya- When you quit smoking, did you put on weight? I've been trying to quite off and on (umm, yeah, you can see how dedicated I am), but the first time I tried I gained 7 pounds. Any tricks to share so you dont pack in on while you're quitting?

Happy Friday the 13th everyone! Just checking in before I head off for school. Luckily I don't think it's going to be an overly busy day. Very excited about the weekend. My mother and I are going to a dog show tomorrow while DH works. There will be all kinds of events including agility and obedience trials. Should be fun.

Ruth ~ Sounds like you have a busy day planned!

Djett ~ I'm glad you found an exercise class that you really like!

JanaM ~ :welcome3: and congrats on the loss and the non-scale victory!

Freaky ~ Glad to hear that you're staying motivated. It WILL be worth it!

Helllloooooo My Chippy Chicks!!! :chicken:

I just returned from dropping DH off at the Airport. DH's interview went really well yesterday -- so well that he is winging his way to Austin, Texas to meet with more technical folks.
It was so wonderful to hear "happiness" in his voice yesterday. And this will really get an "Awww" outta you gals:

One of the questions that they asked as part of the "personal" portion of the interview was: "What do you consider your Greatest moment or achievement"

My DH said: "Marrying my wife"

I melted when he told me that! I then asked if he followed that up with "She's also the biggest challenge"

Keep yer fingers crossed fer him !!!!!

Hello to all of you other beach babes and guys!!! I hope you have a great OP day.
I got a new cooking magazine in the mail the other day for free..starter edition or something...I am making a recipe out of it tonight for my family and my sister & her family...If it is good, I will post it next week. Good morning all :)

Whoo...Friday the 13th and a full moon! How fabulous (I'm putting a positive spin on today)!

Only downside is that it's TOM for me and I'm ravenous and unmotivated to exercise. I just GOTTA get to the gym. As soon as I'm there I'll feel better; even if I only do 30 minutes.

Jana - Congrats on the loss!

Freaky - I'm of the mind that if you're going to go crazy for a cookie, have the 1 cookie and be done with it. On the other hand, if you KNOW you can't stop at one...stay far far away

Shatzi - That's soo sweet!!!

Everyone else, have a great day - drink your water!!

I'm on day 11 of P1 also, althou I realized I have been having too much nuts and not eating enough veggies. I don't think I have lost much, I weighed last Sunday at work although they had relocated the scale to a different spot, and I was down 1 lb. That was after 7 days. Now having 100 lbs to lose that is a bit of a deflate, only 99 to go woo-hoo NOT. LOL. Anyway, I'm still trucking and tweaking my eating, and I think I might give P1 one more week. I did walk 3 times this week and I have been sedentary for the winter since a terrible ankle sprain. I know for me its better to go slow, and that this is WOE not a diet, and I really feel amazing, so I know its working. I'm just needing to keep my focus, I am feeling "resigned" and thats a good thing, I feel like I've stopped fighting (against). I really miss my fruit though. Thanks for being here, you all rock !

You girls are just wild!

It is definitely Friday the 13th. It's' just one thing after another today! We had 58 and Sunshine yesterday, and today we have snow. Welcome to Central Illinois. If you don't like the weather, go back where you came from (or... just wait a day.)

Good news everyone! THE SCALE MOVED!!!! Only a pound, but it MOVED!!! And it moved the right direction!!! WAHOO!

Now, I don't know what the proper locker room etiquette, but I found myself in an uncomfortable place yesterday. Molly and I went in to use the restroom, get rid of our towels, weigh ourselves, etc, and this woman was standing there, NAKED AS A JAYBIRD, and just struck up a conversation with us. I'm one of those "look at my feet" locker room people, and I'm also not comfortable being stark naked head-to-toe in front of people I don't know. I can say that I'm slightly comfortable naked in front of my husband, my mom, the 4 girls that were my bridesmaids, and maybe one other friend and that's it. I don't know how she was comfortable enough to do that!

So there I was, standing there having a conversation with the naked lady, and the whole time I was thinking about how awesome it must be to be that comfortable naked, talking with people you don't know. Are you girls comfortable enough to strike up a conversation with strangers while you're stark naked? I usually have a towel around my waist, one for each boob, and one on my head, and I do the "put your underwear on with the towel still on" trick. Kudos to that lady. She was probably 2 and a half times my size and was totally fine standing there naked. I'm amazed.

WELL anywho, I'm going to watch the snow come down out my window. You girls have a good day, and I'll pop on later if I get a chance!

Lisa

Peanut Butter. My biggest red light food. I cannot have it in the house. I will sit there with a knife and eat it right out of the jar. I cannot stop. The only way I allow myself it anymore, is if I'm at a restaurant and they have it in those tiny packets.

Last night I od'ed on vegs. I made one of those fabo tofu recipes. I ate the entire thing. Thank goodness I only put in 6 oz. of tofu. But the broccoli and peppers and 'shrooms were enough to feed three! I still feel full this am. And not comfortable. Guess I need to just make one portions sizes from now on, and not think I'm going to save it for tomorrow.

Oh, the perils of being single.

Today I am finishing up my resume and getting it out there on Monday. I've had a home-based business for two years now and it's just not got good legs. The motivation to get a job again is very low. But the checkbook is getting lower and lower. One of my friends said to think of it like getting a job and having money and time to do the things you want. Instead of a life. But I know in my field (creative: writer, art director, creative director) that it will take over again.

Well the good thing is, not being by myself and my 'fridge will be a blessing.

13 is my lucky number and it's my day off today and my dh finally comes home after being gone a week....add a full moon......Life couldn't be better!:dancer:

So, after an exhausting and stressful day at work in the ER yesterday I feel like I finally hit a milestone! I didn't stress eat! My environment at work is very uncontrolled so I work extra hard to control what I can. I bring my legal food from home and avoid the cafeteria (they make the best cookies) Anyway, I was there for 13 hours yesterday and I didn't cave! (patting myself on the back)

Anyway, I've had the best ME week I can remember! Last Friday I had a vita-peel on my face (sorry if that freaks some of you out) My skin looks soo smooth now. Then Tuesday you may recall me bragging about my spa day. I'm still reveling in how wonderful that was. Then one of my friends who just opened up a facial skin care clinic with her dh, he's one of the docs I work with called me and said that there was a person there teaching them about botox and would I like to be a guinea pig? DUH, I was there in 2 minutes. I know that may freak some of you out again, but not me. Anyway, I feel like it was such a Tauna week. I loved it! My crow's feet are gone! My growl line is lessened. They say it takes about 10 days to peak. I decided that the money I save by NOT eating out, eating fast food, inhaling candy, pop, bad habits like that, I am squirreling money away to do this again.

Uhm, Weezle, I wouldn't be able to have a nekked conversation.........don't know if I could even have a bra and panty conversation.......but then the nekked people I see daily aren't the locker room variety.

Barb, you be good at work today!:drill:

zombiemom, don't be discouraged! It will come off. One of these days you'll step on the scale and there'll be this 5 or 6 pound loss and you'll go :?:

Well girls I am in a sad state of sorts. I caught my DH's cold, TOM came this week and I think I may have gotten a case of food poisoning from some seafood I ate. Spend all day/night in the bathroom and went through a whole entire bottle of Pepto! Its pretty cold here today. I have to work all afternoon and then shoot a basketball game and bullriding tonight. Should be interesting. I am hoping to hit the gym after that since it is open 24 hours. I need to start one of those classes you all keep talking about. Which one is your favorite?

Ruth - built like a fireplug, you crack me up!

JanaM - WAAAAAYYYYY TOOO GOOOOOOO chickadee! We are so proud of you, update that signature girl.

Freaky - Like your new pic,

SChatzi - that is sooo cute. DOn't you just love it when men are mushy on their own terms :)

kyemom - I will keep my fingers crossed for you, good luck chicki!

zombiemommie - Sounds like you are at least sticking to the plan. The weight will come off but just think if you have never realized you were eating too many nuts and not enough veggies. Make those changes and I am sure you will see your results improve!

Barb0522 - All I do is work from home lol. I know how it is to have that refrigerator call to you lol.

weezle - sounds like yet another Seinfeld episode lol. I am funny about locker room nekkidness too. I would go nude sunbathing, but I wear like 3 towels in the locker room too...

SynergyJoy - great pic! Good luck with your resumes, I am sure you will have no trouble finding something to do.

Ok well here is to an OP day, cheers!

I have never been comfy naked...even when I had a decent outward appearance. But kudos to the chick who could talk naked...that's a whole new level of comfortness, right there, ya know?

Not too much happening today. Yesterday was very warm...today is cooler...and I woke up with a cold sore. Joy. Campho Phenique (sp) is my best friend. I find if I catch it early, I can get it gone before it really starts.

Have a good day, chicks.

Awwww Schatzi Sue! You melted my heart with your love story! My husband says about me that I'm never a dull moment. I bet yours says the same. Good luck to him. Does that mean you'd leave Caroliner?

beach, good idea to do 1.5 , today is day 13 of phase one and I'm scared of the return of cravings if I go to phase 2.

crk, bow wow! Have fun!

freaky, sometimes I just have to think that 1 tablespoon of peanut butter is better than what I'm gonna have if I don't get something in my mouth NOW!

Jana, don't you love smaller sizes? Cool!

Ruth, a fireplug? Does it have a buttcrack? Please tell me no. I want the Ramano in my mind!!!!;)

Steph, hope you get feeling better. I've read somewhere that 80% of cases of nausea and vomiting that come into the ER's across the country are actually not an illness that is spread but is food poisoning. Eat BRAT food today....not SB approved but doctor recommended. Bananas Rice Applesauce and Toast. Hugs

Well, I'm off to have a perfectly lazy day after I exercise. Shave my legs then I'll step on the scale to see if I've lost anymore (besides dh is coming home tonight:devil:)

Hugs to all!!!!:grouphug:

Yeah, it definitely was slightly awkward for me. Apparently not for the lady though. She was talking about being weighed at the doctor and how she has to go to the doctor a lot because of her weight problem *then she jiggled her stomach* Ew ew ew ew. Sorry. I jiggle my fat stomach in the privacy of my own home, but not in front of strangers in the locker room. I'll do it in front of any of the people I mentioned before, but that's about it.

The only reason I'm comfortable naked in front of my friends is because they're the ones who had to get me in and out of my corsette and wedding dress last April. When you're in the bathroom stall and you've got two girls holding your dress up over your head so you can pee, you don't have much modesty left with them.

Yeesh. But oh, to be that comfortable with yourself. I wish I could be that ok with my body.

At least it wasn't the Seinfeld episode with Terri Hatcher as Jerry's new girlfriend, and Elaine takes a header into Terri's boobs in the sauna. I suppose it could have been worse.

I told you kids, I'm pretty much Elaine.

It doesn't bother me one bit to be naked in front of other people, but I usually don't go around striking up casual conversations.

Right on, Rotten Banana! Good for you being naked in front of people! I don't have a problem with people being naked in the locker room.... that's what it's for. But PLEASE don't talk to me unless I've caught on fire. I start Phase 2 on Sunday. This has been pretty much of a breeze so far. Great plan, great recipe tips, great gals. Any tips on things to add gradually? I'm actually not looking forward to adding, but I know I must.

Last time I did a lower carb diet (the only grain I got for a year was oatmeal) and tried to segue onto maintenance, I just went a little haywire and took a "bath" in chocolate and wine. This time I decided to do something (SB) that I could live with for life, not having to look at it as "I can do this for one day at a time".

So I guess I'm nervous about adding stuff, so any ideas/support would be great. BTW I'm going to a wedding shower Sunday afternoon, advice on that??

Hi everyone, iI have stopped in before to say hi. I have a question for you all?I will be starting phase 2 maybe on Monday, but I am scared to reintroduce the carbs.I know those are my trigger foods. I did read not to have them until after dinner in case they do triger a eating frenzy.Even so I am still alittle afraid. Any suggestions? Do I do this phase for 1 more week? I could if I wanted, It really is not that hard for me.Some days it is but for the most part I am doing Ok. Thanks for your input.

whooo - what a night :tired:

I was up til nearly 6 am finishing my chapter outline and my lab pre-submission form for geology, as well as completing most of the rest of the lab (I just have to scratch a few minerals with a penny and peer at the crystal form of table salt under my loupe to see which of the minerals in our kit it resembles - I haven't done it, but I'm guessing it'll be halite).

Then I had to soothe DS back to sleep - he was having a rough night. I think he just wanted some snuggles, since he passed out again shortly after I snuggled up with him in our bed. Then I put him back into his crib and was up til 8:30. Fortunately (sort of) DS was pooped from his rough night, and I got to sleep til noon-thirty (with a few wakings here and there).

I'll try to post again in a bit- DS is finished with his break-lunch, and impatient to get out of his chair.

WOW :D - you guys are on a roll today. Did I just say roll...I'll take the whole dinner roll basket please. :nono:

Seriously though....I'm still full from my lunch but no matter how full I get I always want some chocolate. Resisting so far. Had a bare bones tossed salad for lunch and an omelet with onions, peppers, ham, and cheese!!! Can you say portion control??? NOT

BeachInBoston - sorry to say that I have no secrets to keeping the weight off when quiting smoking. I gained 12 pounds between October 31, 2005 and January 4, 2006. And that was with running on the treadmill for 30 minutes and walking for 25 minutes 4 to 5 days a week!!! :tread:

But that's why I am here!!! I guess I'm hoping this will be my secret to keeping that weight off. I have always said that I would quit smoking when I lost enough weight to gain some back and be comfortable with it. Needless to say, I never got to that point and it became a reason to still smoke. :bomb:

I had to bite the bullet and hope for the best. After 12 pounds I was in panic mode and unable to stop snacking. I found this web site and started reading. SBD sounded like a good lifestyle/diet for me and so here I am 8 pounds of the 12 gone already (unless I gained 5 back today with that free for all lunch I had). LOL

I hope this works for me and when you feel ready you will quit too.

Whew - I'm too far behind to say hi to everyone! I got my lab presumbmission back, and I got one or two things wrong - and I'm not sure what I did! Strangely, the one thing I thought I might have messed up I got right - go figure!

So-so OP so far today. I got hungry in the middle of the night, and instead of eating crapola, I warmed up a big mug of MAV Soup. But then I've had a couple sandwiches today (though at least it was ww bread). They are just so speedy when you have a lot to do! I had one for breakfast and one for lunch. But I've done pretty well with water, and dinner should be much healthier: more MAV Soup, some dump chicken (not sure which one yet), some brown rice pilaf, and a veggie or two. So it could have been better, but it could have been much, much worse (and last quarter it would've been!).

Gotta go - DS wants to watch "Return of the Pink Panther" and he wants to watch it from my lap - makes it hard to type!
