Hi & :welcome: to The Diet Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style !!!

My name is Elizabeth, I am 30 yrs old and live in N. Alabama. I have been an avid patron of the 3FC's website for several years, and a VERY new patron and LOVER of the Forums !! A little about me - I am married to J, have 2 stepgirls ages 6 & 4, and a Son who is 9MO. I work FT out of the home, and both my husband & I are on a mission to lose weight ! My mission is on The Diet Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style !!! ;)

I have created this thread for anyone and everyone regardless of age, location, how little or how much weight you have to lose !

Here's a little about WHY I am on The Diet Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style !!! :D

Well one of my BIGGEST resolutions was to lose weight in 2006. Plus my husband gave me a kick butt incentive !! :hyper:

He told me that if I would lose 75% of my goal weight by November ~ We would go on a 7 day cruise of my choice!! How could I not be willing even more for that WOOHOO !!!

So here's some of what I am doing:

1. Giving up sugar (which I've already done, thank the lord for Splenda)

2. Giving up caffeine & only drinking one soda a day (if that)

3. Exercising at least 30 mins at day (work in progress)

4. Allowing myself only 1250-1300 calories a day ! (currently doing)

WHY do I want to do this ?

1. So I can be around to see my son, my step-daughters and future children grow up and have families.

2. To be more healthy !

3. To look and FEEL sexy :o

And of course there are a billion more I could put !!

So that's what I am doing. . . I am really TRYING hard and so far I've lost 11 lbs since January 1st!! :carrot:

SO. . . that's why I am on The Diet Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style !!!

I am here to challenge anyone to be a part of this thread !! I will be here to ~ :listen: ~ I will be here to ~ :cheer: YOU ON!! ~ I will be here to say:goodluck: ~ I will be here to give you a BIG BIG  !!

Come be a part of The Diet Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style !!!

Hope to see you :grouphug: ~

Well today has been a good day for working on my Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style!!!

I have really tried hard to limit my caloric intake and get some exercise !!

I was hoping that I would pop online and find someone had decided to join :(

Here's to tomorrow ~ :?:

Hi Elizbeth,

I jsut restarted my weight loss journey this year. I think I am off to a good start. I really am trying to stay on track (for meit is hard when my husband is out of town, like his is now). I just remember how well I have done the last week and half and remind myself I can keep going.

I am doing this for myself, to be there for my son and husband.

Like you I have incentive, it's not a cruise, but we are thinking of taking y son to Disney. Plus I have at least 3 weddings to attend this year (and one will be with a lot of high school friends). Incentive is also looking better than I did in high school; though I was not this heavy I still was big (I think a 16 or 18 in high school, my weight was about 225).

Good luck and take care,

What exactly are you doing to lose weight ? Or what's worked for you ? I am not on anything like WW's, Sonoma, SouthBeach or anything. Just counting calories, carbs etc, and exercising and drinking a BOATload of water !! :dizzy:

Looking forward to getting to know you & sharing in the Journey !!

Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for the warm welcome! ;)

I'm trying to cut down on what I eat, exercise, drink alot of water, cut down on soda and portions of what I eat.

I try to work out as much as I can during the week. I'm going to head to the gym now for lunch.

Talk to you later.

01-13-2006, 03:45 PM
:dizzy: Hi again

Hope you had a good workout at the Gym. Do you have one where you work, or are you a member somewhere ?! I guess you could say part of my exercise is chasing after my 9 month old son, Sam. :) We're also renovating a house, and doing about 95% of the work ourselves so that's good exercise too !!

Sounds like you and I are both doing somewhat similar things. :carrot:

Hope to hear more from you and about you :dizzy:

Hi Elizabeth and Lisa!

Lisa might be somewhat familiar with my stats since we are both in another forum, but I will post them here too.

I am 26 years old and need to lose 40 lbs. or so.

One of my "last straw" moments was when I put on a dress to wear to my father's wedding and it didn't fit. Neither did the jeans I put on later that night. :headache:

The worst thing about my eating habits up until this point was the fact that I would wait too long in between meals, not pay attention to portion sizes, and eat until I was STUFFED.

The BF and I started the South Beach diet this past July and I lost 11 pounds in the first 2 weeks, but then it came right back and then some during phase 2.

Now I am doing things more like you ladies -- no sugar or white flour products, eating good carbs (whole grain/wheat, veggies, low GI fruits, etc.), watching portions, drinking lots of water, and exercising.

Elizabeth - your energy and excitement are refreshing! Keep it up, we need that! :grouphug:

01-13-2006, 05:48 PM
Hi diva and Elizabeth-

Diva - small world huh?? Welcome to this group too!

For my workouts I belong to a gym directly across the street from my job, so it's pretty cool. And very convenient to boot!

Next week I'm going to start Taebo tapes at home in the mornings, then the gym at lunch, I need to kickstart the weight loss process!!!

I've done well this week, 11 miles on Monday, 7.2 miles Tuesday, Thursday I did a 45 minute spinning class and today 7.5 miles. Good week!!!! ;)

The challenge for me comes on the weekends, I tend to eat more at home than I do at work which is pretty bad considering how much I eat at work!! I just can't stop eating once I start dinner when I get home. I need to work on portion control big time.

Well ladies, have a good weekend!! I'll be online again Tuesday.

Lisa :carrot: (love the carrot guy - always puts a smile on my face)

01-13-2006, 05:52 PM
I have to agree with Diva, Elizabeth - your attitude is very motivating and very much needed. Weight loss is such a difficult process (especially when your in your 30's like me!!!)

Diva - I also have to say I've had plenty of those "last straw" minutes. For me it was seeing pictures of me at a Christmas party and comparing them to last year's pictures. I had lost about 60 pounds or so from Dec. 2003-beginning of 2005. This summer, fall and winter, I packed that weight back on which makes me so sad because it took FOREVER to get that weight off in the first place. I was actually in a size 10 and happy. I became comfortable again with myself, my boyfriend and life and got way too comfortable with food yet again.

This year will be different. Most definitely.

Lisa ;)

Hello!!! I would love to join your group! My name is Sarah. I'm married to J, and have 2 great kids. I'm 29, and have been completely unable to lose the weight from having my baby because I'm LAZY. I started going to WW, and let me tell you, when you track your points and stick to it, it's amazing!!! It works!!! But I got tired of writing everything I was doing and slacked off. So I need motivation in the eating right/eating well department.

I'm pretty good about exercising. I ordered the Transfirmer, and I'm starting with that full steam ahead next week. I also go to the gym 2-4 times a week and do cardio.

Have a great day!

01-13-2006, 07:33 PM
Hi I'd like to join in also. I am 43, a single Mom (boy15) living in BC Canada
I have put together a graduated plan
1. No sugar (since Dec 28)
2.1 hour perday cardio (since Jan 1)
3.Eat in a healthy low fat, high fibre manner(Jan 1)
4.Weight training (Feb 1)
5.Start learn to run program (Apl 1 I do live in Canada have to wait 'til spring)

I am also trying to journal I know how much it is supposed to help for emotional eating but I am pretty spotty about it.
so far so good I have lost 13 lbs since Jan 1 so I am pretty happy about that, 60 to go.
Hope to get to know you all better on the Journey

01-13-2006, 08:09 PM
Hi guys, I would also like to join the group. I am 36 (just had a b-day on Jan 6) and married. I have two children and I work a full time job outside the home. I have lost 59 pounds since Sept. 2004 and need to loose about that much more to reach my goal of 175. I have not been 175 since high school. I have been off the wagon for a few months through the holidays and decided the new year was a good time to get started again.
My weight lose so far has been watching what I eat and diet drinks or water. I have also been walking and trying to build up my stamina again. It's really hard and the older you get the harder. I wish there was a miracle cure for metabolism but until then I will stick to the food portions and vitamins.:dizzy:

Hi Everyone.

It seems like I missed a lot since this morning. I can not get on at work (too busy!!!). I actually got ot go out to lnch today and I did so good!!! Went out with a girlfriend and got some sushi. Lots of different wraps, but I could not even eat "my share." I got full when there were three pieces of my half left and I would not eat them. I was surprised I was full for the day (she kept telling me I was going to get hungry). I then took my son and grandmother out to dinner. I will say there was some temptation, but quickly made the decision of grilled chicken, green beans, and a baked potato with ONE tablespoon of sour cream. I was pretty proud of myself. This is the first time I ate out a lot while counting calories and I am still way below my 1500 max. Actually right in the middle of range of 1200 - 1500.

Right now am hoping to get some exercise in this weekend. To get a bit further, but really at this point all I have done is count calories and stop eating when I am full.

Hope everyone else is having a good night - take care - Erin

 I'd like to join too please!

My name is Stacye (of course) I'm 37 yrs old, married to G and I have an 11 yr old DSS (darling stepson) ... G and I have been together since 1998 and we own a land surveying company which allows me to work from home most of the days.

I started losing weight in August as sort of a pre-GBS weightloss plan ... I don't think I really wanted to go thru with surgery b/c I ended up challenging myself to a 50 lb weightloss by Jan. 1st ... if I made this challenge then I would no longer consider surgery! Well, I lost 55 lbs by Dec 31st ... so no surgery for me ... Yippie! Oh and my hubby was VERY happy about that too - altho he supported my decision, he was far from being a fan of having it done!

Over the years I've tried just about everything to lose weight ... most resulting in short term success and all resulting in weight GAIN! This time is so different than every time before, it's just a gut feeling I have that I'm going to make it this time! I'm sure y'all know what I'm talking about!
My loss to date has been done the old fashioned way ... eating less and moving more! Whodathunkit!! It actually DOES work! lol
I'm also counting cals ... I've recently 'revamped' my intake to 1600-1800 - which seems to be working ... after a few weeks of being platued, I've lost 5 lbs this week!
My exercise consists of 3 days of 1 hr cardio and 2 days of 30 min cardio which then gives me the weekends off. This is a new plan so I'm anxious to see how things are going to work!

Gosh, sorry for the ramble ... if I don't stop now I'll still be posting tomorrow! I look forward to getting know each of you!

Have a great night!

01-14-2006, 07:21 AM
Hi Stacye - I just want to say welcome. You have done great so far and trust that gut feeling. Together this time we can all make it. It is funny, but since I feel accountable to those I meet on this site I am keeping on track and doing this.

My husband is out of town a lot - this time he will be gone for a week and half. My thought is to lose five pounds more before he comes back.

Good luck - E

Hi everyone! I'm brand new to 3FC, but I love what I've seen so far & this really seems like a place I can settle into & call home. Here's my deal:

I'm Lori, 34, from Indiana. I'm married to B (34). We have 2 grrlz (15 & 4), and a Yorkie. I work full time managing the business office in a skilled nursing facility. My husband owns a technology company. So we're both out all day, and frantic about getting things done each night & weekend. We've made some incredibly poor health choices over the years, and we're committed to fixing that now.

This week we've made the swap: instead of eating out 5x a week as we had been doing regularly before, we cooked dinner at home 5x this week! :carrot:

It's baby steps for me, because that's the only way it's going to work long term. If I make all the changes RIGHT NOW, I'll get stressed & things will revert. Can't have that!

I don't know about all of you, but I find it hard to believe that we are already 14 days into January 2006. I haven't weighed myself yet this weekend, but have designated my personal weigh-in day as Sunday. :o What all are your plans ? DO you weigh-in once a week, or bi-weekly ? :chin:

I would love to get everyone's stats like SW, CW, & GW and create something to keep up with it, and maybe once a week we all get-together and I can post what everyone's been doing ?! That's up to you all of course, just let me know your thoughts, ideas, etc. :write:

As always I am here to ~ :listen: ~ I am here to :cheer: you on ! ~ I am here to say :goodluck: ~ & I am here to give ~ ~ !!

01-14-2006, 01:03 PM
Hello everyone! Hope your having a great day! So far so good for me. I am taking care of my daughter (11) who has the flu, fun stuff huh! I am glad I finally found a group to get some support from. I think this will give me the kick in the butt I need to get back to it. I always do better with support and someone to share the weight lose with. My husband is not dieting and has no desire to so he could really care less.

Here are my stats:
SW 289
CW 230
Goal 175
I would really love to be 150 but I'm trying to be realistic for myself!

I really want to get the rest of the weight off before July 6th of this year but I would be happy with 31 pounds. My brother is getting married in New York and it will be the first time I will meet most of his girlfriends family. My brother is one of those 6' 3" "skinny" guys and of course his girlfriend is skinny along with her entire family. I inherited the fat genes.

Enough about me. Talk to you guys soon. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!

01-14-2006, 01:15 PM
Hi Katrina ~
Congrats on your 59 lbs weight-loss that is just AWESOME !!! :carrot:

Thanks for sharing your stats, I have already started putting together a roster with everyone's real name, and name on here. I hope that is okay !! I also will only share info like stats etc, if it's okay with all of you, but hey mine are posted in broad daylight !! :dizzy:

Katrina, I am so sorry about your daughter. The flu is NEVER any fun. I hope she recovers quickly. You're a great Mom to take such good care of her !!

I look forward to hearing more about what you're doing and where you're headed !! Have a great weekend !! ;)

I'm joining this thread in hopes to have a more prosperous new year with my weight loss, being around others who need to lose weight I think will be a godsend for me because I am surrounded by those who are perpetually thin. I don't eat healthy at this time and haven't ever found a "diet" that works, but have been on an appetite surpressant for about 3 months and have lost 15 lbs from it. Gained some back over the holidays. My question for anyone who can answer is, have any of you been on Adipex (phentermine) and lost weight, did well on the drug only to feel like it's no longer working? I feel hungrier than I used to on it, so I wonder if the effects diminish over time w/ the drug. ANyone out there used it before or are on any other drugs to combat hunger?

01-14-2006, 02:23 PM
I'm joining in the FUN!!! My name is REDEFINITION and I have 75 pounds to lose My current weight is 235 and my goal weight is 160. I would even go as far as 150, but I think with my large frame, 160 would suit me just fine.

I plan to work out 5-6 days a week by walking for 30-45 minutes on the treadmill. I plan to build up to 60 minutes and eventually start running. I will also add a video in, alternating between Tae Bo and Yoga Booty Ballet.

No definite "diet" that I plan to follow. I will simply use portion control. I plan to drink more water, eliminate sodas, reduce my sugar intake (Splenda is my new best friend!), eliminate fried foods, reduce processed foods intake.... I will do my best to eat better.

01-14-2006, 02:38 PM
Hi ladies.

Can I join too? I've been looking for a smaller group to join. I post at the 100 lb club but a smaller group would be nice too!

My name is Ingrid. I'm 39 and a single mom to a 3 1/2 y/o son. I work a full time job as manager of a legal services company.

Between 1/12/04 and 11/10/04 I lost 96 lbs but in the following 13 months I gained back all but 17 lbs. I've been back on track since 1/2/06. My weekly weigh in days are on Monday so I'm hoping to see a good loss. I lost 4 lbs last week and my goal is to lose 2 lbs per week, like before. I'd like to lose 151 lbs from where I am now. I'll be 40 this summer and there is no time like the present right? lol. My weight loss plan is 30 grams of fat or less a day, going down to 20 on days I don't work out and 25 on days I do after I start exercising again, which I plan to do when I lose another 29 lbs. (Until then the strain on my joints is too much. I know this from my last weight loss efforts).

I hope to get to know everyone and help support everyone to their goal.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Lori :: Welcome to 3FC and our little gang of weightloss divas! Making simple changes like not eating out as much is a huge step! Congrats to both of you for making that decision together! Congrats on your loss so far ... what plan are you using?

Elizabeth :: Thanks so much for the welcome and for starting this thread! Hey, I just noticed that we're pretty close in weight - cool! Well, not 'cool' but you know what I mean! :) So what part of Alabama are ya in?

Congrats on losing 59 lbs to date ... you're doing AWESOME!

JoAnn :: :welcome: I think we're all going to really love this group!
Congrats on your loss so far - that's great! As for taking Adipex, I've never taken it, actually I've never heard of it - is it something your doc rx'd? When I was 12 yrs old my mother was using Dexatrim, we had a talk about it and I started taking them too ... Yuk, I hated how they made me feel and b/c of that I've never taken another diet pill. Other than taking the Adipex, are you on any other type of plan (i.e. WW, Calorie Counting)?

Around Here :: Ya know ... I never thought about putting my stats in my siggy - maybe somewhere in the back of my head I was just embarrassed to do so ... well, not anymore ... I'm proud of the progress I've made and they're now there for the world to see! :D
I'll go ahead and post them here too tho ...

SW ~ 330
CW ~ 269
GW ~ 240 <(~ This is my MINI GW - Once I make this I'll decide how much lower I'll go.

Well, I have a hair appt in about 30 mins so I best get going for now! You girls have a splenterrific Saturday ... be back later to check in!

I'd really love to join this group! My name is Katie, my current weight is 175 but I'm not sure what my goal weight should be.. I'm aiming for 155 and then I can go from there. This seems like a great group so far!

01-14-2006, 03:38 PM
Hi newbies, glad you all could join us!

On the question about Adipex, I have never really taken a weight loss drug but I have found that with my age (36) and the ups and downs of my weight, a B complex vitamin daily has really revved up my metabolism. I thought it was completely gone until a month after taking it I started loosing again. I think you have to change things every once in a while to get things going again. Hope this might help some of you!

01-14-2006, 08:24 PM
Hello to all you wonderful Diva Ladies !!

Wow is all I can say to start off with. I left for a few hours to do some work on my house, go to Lowe's and Walmart and spend some time with my son, Sam and come back and WOWZAS !!! :carrot: :cb:

Erin, Thank you for taking time to be so supportive and just awesome !! I can relate to you since my hubby goes out of town a lot as well. It's hard, but you have the motivation of your son and the thoughts of 3 weddings and Disney to think about. Oh, and I LOVE Sushi - wish you lived closer so we could go get some together !! Thanks for being a part of this group !

Lisa, It sounds like you've got everything planned and ready to lose that weight !! Go girl !! We're here to be your support and encouragement !

Ms. Diva ~ Girl I like your style. Not to mention your avatar. It sounds like you and the BF are on the right track with diet and exercise. Keep it up !!

Sarah, YOU GO for joining WW and exercising. Exercise is one thing I am not exactly fond of, but I am learning to know it's a GOOD thing and ready to bite the bullet !! Thanks for the encouragement !!

Lori (nighthawk), I know being a single Mom keeps you VERY busy plus working. YAY for losing 13 lbs since Jan 1st !! I also like your graduated plan, you're very organized !!

Katrina, WOOHOO for all that you've done so far ! That 59 lb weightloss just speaks for itself right there. Keep it up eating right and exercising !!

Stacye, Ms. Stacye I LOVE your enthusiasm and the fact that you're a fellow Southerner *grin* As far as where I live in AL, North in a town called Gadsden in the STICKS. I was born and raised in B-ham. Keep up that exercise and WOW 55 lbs !!! YAY !!!

Lori - Welcome !! I HIGHLY applaud you not eating out 5 times a week, instead cooking at home 5 times in one week ! WOW I wish I could do that. That's some inspiration right there to do it. KEEP IT UP !!! Sounds like you're on your way !!

Joann, WELCOME WELCOME and I hope you continue doing what you're doing. As far as Adipex or anything like it - I have taken it several times through the years. MY husband had great success w/ it, it makes my heart race so I don't know if I'll take it again.

Redefinition ~ Welcome WELCOME GIRL !! It sounds like you are so vivacious and just ready to conquer the journey ! I am sorry about what was said by your former students, but on a positive YAY for your exercise and diet plan.

Okay, well if I've forgotten anyone - feel free to tell me and I will say sorry later. ;) On a personal note, I did go and get my meals for lunch next week at work. I am on this MAJOR Lean Cuisine Kick since I can coun't everything, and maintain the caloric intake I want. Also, LC has the awesome new panini sandwiches that are fantastic. :carrot:

So Ladies ~ :bravo: for ALL WE have accomplished ~ :goodluck: to OUR FUTURE together on this journey !!! And :thanks: for making me feel so blessed to have met each of you !!!

 to OUR FUTURE !!!!

Hi All,
I am so excited to be part of this group! I think that we'll be a great source of inspiration and encouragement for one another. I am a little overwhelmed at trying to keep everyone straight in my head as I read all the posts but I am sure it will get easier as I get to know you all.

Elizabeth: Thanks for the welcome I think the stats roster is an awsome idea. Mine are SW:213 CW:200 GW:140 HT:5'4"

Redefinition: I am also planning on running my start date for that is Apl 1 when I will start a walk to run program maybe if that fits around your targeted start time we could work together on that. How is that Yoga booty Ballet? I saw it on a infomercial and thought it look interesting.

Other Lori;) I so hear you on the babystep thing In the past I have always jumped into everthing all at once got overwhelmed and unable to make it past a few weeks so like you I am gradually adding permanant healthy changes to my life.

I can't remember who asked about the weighting in but I weigh myself almost everyday. Sat is my official weighin day so fluxuations during the week don't worry me too much but I have a bit of an anal compulsive side to my nature so I can't stay off the scale for a whole week :o

Have a great day everyone and I will try to keep up with all the action here:cb:

 Lori

Hey Gang,

Well I came from hanging out with my cousing today. Awesome time together. We went to my sister's for the football game. Redskins lost - that is a real bummer to me anyway. I did good with all the football party yummies that were around. I had one Miller light, 3 steamed shrimp and 1 tortilla chip. So I know this is something I can do. I have overcome some of the hardest things I faced in the past - eating out and going to parties. (OK, it is only once or twice, but knowing I can do it one time means I can do it going forward.)

I found out the "almost official date" for my cousin's wedding. It is July 1st and will be in Florida (which means Disney will be pushed to this time period).

So I am trying to think was a realistic goal for this wedding will be. I am 284 right now and I have about 5 months to go. I do not want to be overly zealous because I know we will have high and lows through this process. I am thinking 225 which would mean a bit about 12 pounds a month. This is actually about were I was when my sister got married and everyone thought I looked good since I had lose about 40 pounds for that wedding.

I know I am doing this for me, but part of me really wants to use this to show myself off to my family.

Any thoughts.

MommaAshley - my stats - SW - 301; CW 284; GW: 150 (180 by the end of the year). weighing on Sundays and usually once during the week.

Have a good night everyone and take care - Erin

Good Morning everyone!!!

Thanks goodness it's a new day. My daughter is doing better. I found out yesterday she has a severe case of strep throat instead of the flu. The fever made it seem like the flu. We have the antibiotics going.

I did really good yesterday, I ate right and walked on the treadmill but then for dinner I ruined it. I had too many slices of pizza with my no fat salad. I have craved pizza for the past month. The pizza is gone thankfully and my craving is over. It's time to get back too it. I hate it when I do that to myself. Do any of you sit and think "I don't need to be eating this" while you shovel it into your mouth? I just wish the mouth would listen to the brain.

On a better note, I'll have to do double on the treadmill today. I really don't have a certain day I weigh in. Usually I get on it each morning before I get ready for work. I know this is not a good thing but it's keeps me on track.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning everyone.

Ever feel like you're DYING to weigh yourself?? Tomorrow is my weigh in day and I'm so anxious! My goal is to lose 2 lbs per week and I'm 99% positive I did this week. I've been very good, haven't gone over my fat grams at all. I actually weighed myself on Friday night (BAD ME! lol) and I weighed the same as on my Monday morning weigh in so that's a good thing since I normally weigh 3-5 less in the morning than at night. I'm just hoping for my 2 lbs and anything else is fabulous!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend, making good choices and feeling great!

Talk to you all soon!

Hey gang,

Thought I would check in before the games and heading over to my mother in law's for a birthday party.

Katrina - I am glad that your daughter is feeling better now that she has the medicine. It sounds like at least it did not go on too long before you found out it was strep.

There were plenty of times when I was eating and I was not hungry and I would think to myself I should not be eating, why?, or some similiar thought. Now, if I catch myself doing that I try think it through a bit longer and see if I am really hungry. I do give in to temptation, but I try to limit how much and when I give in.

Hope everyone is doing well and take care - Erin

Oh wow...I am soooo going to have to go back through here & make some notes & sort everyone out. LOL I'll get it, don't worry! In the meantime, I'll refer to "somene said" a whole lot. :)

Someone said something about drugs, and I wanted to throw my 2-cents into the ring because I have taken Meridia. I took it for 2 months, almost 2 years ago. The 1st month was fantastic, I conquered my constant hunger, and also lost 12 lbs. (which of course I've since gained back + more) The 2nd month was awful: I was engulfed in a cloud of depression unlike anything I'd ever known. Since then, I've struggled with depression issues. There very well be no correlation, but in my mind there is a very big connection (and after all, that's what matters, right?)

Good afternoon everyone!

I watched the National Body Challenge yesterday. When a nutritionist came into one family's house and removed all the unhealthy food, I realized I have been eating too many unhealthy things and relying more on exercise to lose weight. I'm glad they showed some healthier replacements, like ground turkey instead of regular ground beef, etc. Looks like I have some shopping to do!

01-16-2006, 02:22 PM
Welcome to all of our new LOSERS! Did you ever think you'd like being called a loser? LOL Well, it's a nickname I'm striving to earn now. I don't think I ever posted my stats, and I don't have an accurate before weight, but right after the baby was born is the number I'll use.

Ht - 5'8"
BW - 225
CW - 203
GW - 170

I'm using WW to count points, and I'm exercising. However, I must admit I can be very lazy about journaling my food. But when I journal and count my points, I lose! It makes such a big difference looking at everything you eat in a day written down on a sheet of paper. today, I got up early with my husband (he's a marine) and when he went to "PT" I did the first video of the Firm's "Transfirmer" series. WHOA - kicked my butt, I have to tell you. By the end of the video, my kids were awake, and my 4 year old did the bonus stretching session with me. LOL-that was a sight to see.

As for weight loss drugs, I took Xenical once for about 3 months before my wedding. I only lost about 5 pounds, because I didn't make the lifestyle changes necessary to lose and keep off weight. After getting married, I really packed on weight.

I have 2 dear friends who took Phentermine. One, she was a size 18 when she started. She got down to a size 10, and looked AMAZING! However, as soon as she quit taking it, she gained all the weight back, and is now a size 26. My other friend took it, and lost and kept off 10 pounds.

Right now, I'm trying the natural ways of boosting my metabolism. I learned that the more muscle you put on, the more calories you burn all day. So I bought The Firm series since it combines strength training with cardio. I take a multivitamin, a b-complex vitamin, and I only drink water and green tea. (And to my green tea, I add a little shot of POM juice - it makes it sweet without artificial sweeteners, and adds a great boost of anti-oxidant vitamins.)

I just got serious today about sticking to everything. My weigh in day will be Mondays. I will post again on Monday with a gain/loss report and let you gals know how my loss is coming along!!

Here's hoping by next we'll all be losers together!!!

 .....but maybe I need to cut back on my threads so I can keep track!

I did so well Saturday, I didn't really sit down at all! After our 3 mile walk, we came home and I started cleaning up around the house a bit and felt really energized. I spent some quality time with the BF and then we went out and ran some errands. After that we went to a local hangout and waited out a rain/snow shower until around midnight. Even though I drank water in between drinks, I guess I had one drink too many and was sick when I got home. I also must confess that I smoke socially when I am out having a cocktail or two, so it could have been too many of those as well. At any rate, I was VERY lazy yesterday and spent most of the day on the couch! Stuck to good eating, though, although I DID have sushi and I know that is FULL of carbs.

AS FOR WEIGHT-LOSS DRUGS - my two cents goes something like this: Just Say No. :smug: I have tried Xenadrine, Dexatrim natural, One-a-Day w/EGCG or whatever it is called - all of them made me TERRIBLY sick. Some caused heart palpitations and others gave me HORRIBLE stomach cramps that sent me to the ER. I have never tried the prescription kinds, though.

FOR ALL OF THE NEWBIES SINCE I WAS HERE LAST - :welcome3: !!!! And to make it easier, I have written my stats and current weight-loss/getting in shape methods all in my public profile - I know, it's a lazy thing to do, but I figured for those of you who already know my stats and story, you don't have to keep seeing it! LOL

How is everyone doing today?

Greetings to everyone! I am here because of an invite . Thank you very much! I have only been on the site for a few days but I have found it to be amazing. Everyone is amazing also. This is going to be tremendous help. I have been in touch with some of you already, I plan to keep in touch. I will post all my info later. I worked a 2am shift today and I need to go to sleep. I am just pooped! Lots more later!
Catherine :thanks:

Well as some of you know that I have a few weddings to go to this year and that is part of my motivation to stay on this weight track path. I know have been give another date (of course, earlier than another wedding I have to go to). June 3rd. This is a friend I have known my whole life (literally - he lived down the street from me and our parents are good friends). So there will be people from high school I have not seen since then (more motivation).

I have a long drive tomorrow to go to an office to help with some tech issues so I will not have much time for exercise, but I have learned to watch the calories on the road.

I also I have my first exercise dvd coming from netflix on wed so I will have something new to get into. I figured this way once I get bored I will return it and make sure another exercise dvd is on the list waiting to come out.

I was feeling a little tired and sick today, besides that all is well. I am down another 2 pounds to 284.

Ok - as an update _ i just order my dress for all my events- the first thing is at the end of Feb, then we have the wedding in June & July - it is a size 20 (currently evening gowns I have bought were a 22 or 24) so I hope it will fit by the end of Feb. I figured I could always take it in as I lose for the other wedding. Plus I bought the matching shawl to help hide the bumps when I first can fit into it and help as it gets loose.

Hello Everyone!

Elizabeth asked for more info on my Transfirmer - so here it is! There is a company called The Firm - they are based in Columbia, South Carolina and they make lots of exercise videos. Their plan combines strength training with cardio work, so that you can build muscle and up your metabolism. For more info on what they offer, you can go to firmdirect. com to read about it. However, I bought my Transfirmer set from QVC because it was cheaper there. The set comes with 2 steps, and 4 videos, and an eating plan. I'm not using the eating plan, because I'm following WW right now. There is also a calendar that shows which rotation to use the videos in.

They promise reults in 10 workouts! I just did my second workout, so I'll keep you guys posted on if there are any scale or measurement changes after the 10 workouts!! You can also find deals on ebay sometimes, and they have an older set that came with a "fanny lifter" instead of The Transfirmer.

Everyone chime in - what exercise are you doing? Home videos? If so, which ones? Gym? If so, cardio, strength or both? Walking? Running?

01-17-2006, 03:17 PM
This will be short - sorry Ladies! Work is CRAZEEE today!

Sarah - what happens after workout rotation #10 - do you start all over at #1 again? I might have to look into this Transfirmer stuff....

I am behind on my workouts thanks to a lazy Sunday and 2 seperate friends with their own crisis, so tonight is when I try to make up for it. :carrot:

01-17-2006, 03:38 PM
Hi again Ladies :D

Sarah - Thanks SO much for info on the Transfirmer workout !! IT sounds like a great program. I am going to be looking into it !! I too am curious though what happens after 10 workouts, if you start over or not ? Hmm....keep us posted :carrot:

To answer your question, I purchased Denise Austin's Blast Away The Prounds - Indoor Walk !- It has 3 different walks that are 15 mins long, and each equals 1 outdoor mile. Then it has a stretch workout too. All of the walks are different too. I am excited about using it tonight !!

Diva ~ Good to see you and hear from you again !! Hope you're having a good day. I feel ya about having that nice lazy day, and then getting SLAMMED at work. Hope it gets better !! :dizzy:

Lisa ~ Good to see you and glad tohear you enjoyed a nice 3 day weekend !! How goes the diet and exercise ?! Keep us posted !! :cb: :carrot:

Looking forward to hearing more ~ I am REAL Curious about WEIGH IN's and an updated post from everyone !!

Hello ladies, I am now awake enough to let you all know about me. I am a 34 year old mom of an 11 year old boy and a 9 year old girl. I am a diabetic who has high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and thyroid problems. I am hoping to lose at least 50 pounds. And it has only just begun. My downfalls are that I work in a bakery. TEMPTATION!:carrot: So far I have done well with my six small meals. The exercise has not panned out yet. I am working on it. I had planned to go roller skating yesterday with my children, but I fell asleep. I pulled a 2 AM shift, normally it is 4AM. I also take care of my father-in-law who has Vasculer Dementia. My husband and myself take turns sleeping on the couch to make sure he doesnt wander away during the night. We have alarms on the door, but still!!!! Sleeping pills don't help any, So some nights are really long. My husband is supporting me, which is good. So with all of this I am finally taking my doctor's advice and I am going to start taking care of me. The first thing I did for myself was go and get a brand new hairstyle. It is a start, right!?:D I am determined to lose it, with all of your help. I have only been on here a few days, but I so look forward to checking in! All of you have already been an inspiration and help. Hope everyone has a good day!

Catherine ~ Thanks for the post ALL About you !!

It sounds like you have ALOT going on in your life, and I applaud everything you are doing as a commitment to lose weight ! I don't think I could work in a bakery without eating everything in sight !! Oh how I love anything baked !!

I also think your FIL is very lucky to have you helping take care of him. I know that has to be stressful and exhausting at times. What a wonderful person you are to do that !

Welcome to The Diet Journey of 2006 ~ 3FC Style !!

It sounds like you're doing well with diet !! And SMART lady to get a new hairstyle !! You go girl !! :carrot:

I am currently doing the LA Weightloss System. It holds me accountable. I have been on it 7 days and lost 6lbs 8 oz. I would like to join your group if you don't mind.

I hope the Elizabeth reads this post and it makes all of us smile as big as her. I'm Elizabeth's husband, and for those of you who read this, always remember that hot is a state of mind. My wife is beautiful and I love her short, fat, thin, tall, or even 5'3". Weight Loss is a struggle for most of us. Most of us can remember a time in our life we we looked in the mirror and disliked what we saw. I'm committed to this lifestyle change with her, and want to add myself to the group to those of you who need encouragement, a push, or just a shoulder. I love you Beth and I'm sooo proud of you. I don't know what it means, but this Dancing Carrot is making me crack up. :carrot:

If we can be of any help, please don't hesitate to ask !! About a year ago I found a LA Weightloss Cookbook at a Used bookstore and purchased it !! That's a great program and they have some great recipes !!

Keep up the great work !! ~ Elizabeth

After the 10th workout, you can vary them however you like. The set comes with 4 dvds, so there is a lot of variety. LOL-and there are tons of Firm videos you can add to your collection. Once I get where I can do these videos straight through with the recommended weights, I think I'll rent a few Firm videos from Netflix and see if the other ones are as great as these.

The only bad part about the video? Instructors are the only people on the screen, and their bodies are all amazingly in shape! LOL

01-17-2006, 05:36 PM
Catherine - a new haircut is a great start! I used to have to take medicine for high blood pressure. But once I started exercising and started eating better and lost a few pounds, I was able to stop the medicine! Hopefully you'll find the same thing!! I also make sure to eat 2 high potassium foods (like bananas) and drink lots of water each day which also helps keep it down. Your doctor can tell you more. I'm so happy you're taking the plunge with us! This is a great group and you'll have a great time. Girl, you must be a saint. I can't walk by a bakery without giving in......LOL....

Lisa - girl, you are racking up the miles! WAY TO GO!!!!

Wendy - what is the LA Weight Loss plan? Do you go low carb? Count calories?

Elizabeth & J - what a team you two make! I am proud to be in your group. Thanks for helping us keep motivated! And J, my husband says the same thing, he'd love me however I look. It makes me feel so good to have his love and support, and we all deserve our own CHEERING SECTIONS!!

WAHOO!!!! Way to go everyone!!!! Even just reading these posts is taking a step in the right direction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

01-17-2006, 06:09 PM
Katrina - Pizza to me is like chocolate to most women, so I know how you feel there! I don't know if I could have just one piece unless everyone else ate the rest! :s:

Katie - what channel is that National Body Challenge show on? I need some more suggestions for groceries - although I've been doing the ground turkey thing for a long time.

Miss Lisa! How in the HADES did you do 11.3 miles? That would take me all day! You are amazing! :cp:

Erin, I am with you on the wedding-as-motivation issue :drill: . My brother is getting married this year and my family all lives in Ohio (except for my Dad), so I am anxious to stick to this and WOW them all when I see them again in September. The bad thing is that I have to get fitted for my dress next month, so HOPEFULLY :crossed: I will have to get it altered at least once before the wedding. The look on their faces will make me SO happy!

Hi Catherine! Just from your first posts, I am admiring the strength you must have. The bakery, your FIL - I hope you can feel peace knowing the good that you do and use that to avoid the food temptations at work! Stay strong girl!

Hey Sarah! (I'm running out of colors! LOL) Thanks for the follow up on the DVD's. I am going to do some research on those when I get some time this week!

J - I just read your post and it melts my heart to hear you being so supportive and open about Elizabeth - there aren't many men like you out there (although I feel like I have one ;) ) and you are an even bigger reason why this site is the GREATEST!!!! No wonder she seems so happy! :D

Hi and :wel3fc: to Wendy!!!!

WOW !!!! :o

What an awesome hubby I have indeed !! My sweet wonderful J, you have made my day, my year my life !! I love being married to you !!

But now it's my turn to brag on J, he too is making all the right choices, and has lost weight too !! Hey what can I say - we both REALLY want to go on the cruise, and be here to see our children grow up have families, not to mention grow old together !!

He's on his way to being a skinny man!! Regardless I love my husband just as he says short, fat, skinny, tall ~ Any way as long as he is a part of me !!

But :sssh: don't tell him I said that ;)

Thank you J !!

Elizabeth & J -

You guys are so beautiful! You absolutely RADIATE positiveness (is that a word???)!!! Thanks for posting the picture!!!!

Congratulations again!

01-17-2006, 07:30 PM
Elizabeth, thank you for all of your support! You just radiate with encouragement for everyone. Once I get my picture scanned you will get to see me. Both you and your husband are very lucky people.
DivaLaRed, Thank you for your kind words. Some days I could fall apart. I could scream about everyday at least once. I am glad that I am finding the strength to say I need to take care of me. PS My boss knows I am on a diet. So he is supportive too. Thank God!
Sarah,That is all I see water, water and water! I do drink a lipton diet green tea every so often. You can avoid a lot of food at the bakery because you get tired of it, unless of course it is something you really like. It doesn't smell as good in the bakeshop as it does outside, so that is a plus.

11.3 miles One day I will be able to do that too. We all will.:carrot:

01-17-2006, 07:39 PM
:cheer: Elizabeth-Thanks so much for getting this group started. I am proud to be a part of it. Good luck on the cruise, that would be a great incentive for me if I wasn't terrified of water. Sounds like you have wonderful support at home. Thanks again and keep up the great work!!:carrot:

Erin-I think we are both in the same boat, trying to loose the weight by July for a wedding. We can do it. Being able to walk into those weddings with our heads held high will be great!:bubbles:

Lisa-WOW! 11.3 miles! I can only imagine. That is amazing! I am only up to 1/2 mile with weights on an inclined treadmill. They would have to call 911 if I attempted 11 miles. Great JOB!:cb:

Diva-3 miles is terrific, keep up the great job.:D

Sarah-Hi! I got started dieting on WW and lost 17 pounds. I stopped going but continued on my own. It really is a good program. I hope the Firm series is working well for you. You can do it. I love being called a LOSER!:D :cheer:

Lori-I used to do the same job as you do, it's hard work and stressful. I think it is great that your husband is doing this with you. I'm sure it helps a lot. My husband does help me cook at home but most of the time it's covered in grease if he makes it! Baby steps is the way to go. Keep up the great work!:cheer:

Stacye-It is great that you avoided having the surgery. I know a few people who went through with it and it is painful. I, like you, have tried many things over the years but the old fashioned way is the best.;)

JoAnn-Welcome! Talking to others really helps me stay motivated.:dizzy:

Redefinition-Hi! I hope the exercise and nutrition program are going well! Sounds like you will have your work cut out for you with that workout. Good luck, you can do it!:flow2:

Ingrid-How is your program going? It sounds great!:ebike:

Katie-I have watched the National Body Challenge before and it really does make you think about all the unhealthy things you have in the house. I hope you got your shopping done. I have trouble shopping. I get in the produce and fruits, wanting to try something new, and then don't know what goes together or how to cook fresh vegetables.

Catherine-I am 36 with an 11 year old girl and a 7 year old son and I work full time. I couldn't imagine having to take care of anything else. You are a SUPER woman. I had the blood pressure and swelling problems before I started loosing weight. Since then all the medicine is gone except for an occatssional fluid pill (when I eat too much pizza). You are doing such a wonderful thing. You are a strong woman, keep up the great job!

Wendy-Welcome! We're glad to have you here. I just joined the site on the 13th so I'm new too. Good Luck on the LA program. I know you'll do great!:welcome2:

J-You are a great supporter. If more husbands were like you we would probablydo a lot better on our diet. My husband doesn't say a lot about my weight, he loves me either way I guess. He's put up with me for 16 years now! :carrot:

I hope I didn't miss anyone, this group is getting big! If I did please let me know. Today has been a pretty good day. I have not overeat, yet! I walked by 1/2 mile and my daughter is cured. No more sick children for a while!:crossed: Hope everyone had a great day. Keep up the great work, all of you!!!!!!!

Good evening Ladies......

I wanted to ask if any of you are keeping a jornal on the Journals page of 3FC?? I started one, but it is hard to make entries during the work day! I am doing good to keep up with you guys here in the threads!

I made a giant chef salad tonight that should last me the next couple days, so I am happy about that. When the BF is off the road, he cooks, so when he is gone, I am ALL about convenience and quick fixes! LOL :o

Elizabeth and Jason, that picture DOES scream happiness and I am so glad to see two people working as a team, not only in marriage but in the fight to be fit and healthy!!!

P.S. Someone mentioned being excited about seeing weigh-ins and progress and I wanted to let you all know that I am NOT stepping on that #$@&*! scale until my midpoint of St Patty's day! The scale is too de-motivating for me and I am choosing to use my clothes as a measurement for a while instead! :dunno:

01-17-2006, 09:51 PM
Wow, thank you so much for inviting me to this group ! You seem like you are going to be an awesome supporter/motivator. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I'm extremely new here so I hope I'm posting this correctly. I'm also extremely new to restarting my diet. Tomorrow will be my first day back. I haven't had a chance to read all the posts cause I don't get much time to myself but I would like to be apart of this group so I can have a little encouragement from people who understand. Even when other people say something to compliment how well I've done in the past it doesn't really sound genuine. It sounds like they're saying it just to have something to say. I might not get to visit often but it's nice to have somewhere to turn when I need a pick me up. My weight gain actually started with an illness but after wards it progressed with 3 pregnancies and inability to control my eating. I have 3 small children 6 months, 2 1/2 years and 4 years old so you would think I get plenty of exercise but obviously not enough. I currently weight 195. I would like to be able to get back down to 130 but I'll settle for enough to be able to wear my wedding rings again which was about 145. They haven't fit in over 4 years. My anniversary is in 4 months so I'm hoping to have made tramendous headway. Everyone keeps telling me to set a goal but I know if I set a specific goal but for some reason don't make it I'll get discouraged and fall behind so I would prefer to just do my best and look noticably thinner by then. Which is why I didn't make a New Years resolution to lose weight cause I never keep my resolutions. My self esteem has suffered tramendously. I don't like going into public, I hate having pictures taken, but it actually hurts to look through all my pictures of my boys and not have any of me with them. I'm surrounded by skinny people, and skinny people just can't seem to understand what over weight people are going through. None of my boys sleep well so I'm up at least 4 times a night which makes it even more difficult because I feel as though I've been up for 2 days so I'm hungry and should be aloud more food. I have to stop myself from grabbing snacks in the middle of the night. I feel like I've written a book so I'm gonna go for now and I'll be back when I get a chance.

Wow! This group of women is growing fast. It is so nice to hear from everyone. To all of the new ladies, I am fairly new, too. Let me tell you , you WILL get the support you need here.:grouphug:

Well, I gave in to temptation. NO I did not eat!:p I weighed myself today. I was going to wait until Monday. But like I told you we have that big scale at work.:goodscale So it made me feel good when I saw that I had lost weight. Now just to get to the exercise. :drill: Then I would be doing really good.

I am going to the store tomorrow and find something to work out to. Probably get some small weights too. Can't wait until the program at work where they will give an exercise ball and show me ways to use it.

Well, I am going to go! Probably check in later. It seems I cannot get enough of all of you!!!:balloons:

We're almost to Friday! YAY! How is everyone's week going?

Here's my stats for the week, both actual and planned:

Monday - stayed within my points on WW. YAHOO! Exercised to The Firm at home. Total exercise (with stretching section) totalled 1 hour.

Tuesday - stayed within my points on WW. YAHOO!!! Went to the gym and did 20 minutes on the stationary bike (7.2 miles) and 20 minutes on the elliptical machine (only 1.2 miles). Total exercise = 8.4 miles, or 40 minutes.

Wednesday - so far am staying on track with points. Tonight will do The Firm again, with stretching, for a total of one hour. YAY! :wl:

Thursday - Will stay on track with WW Points. Will go to gym and do elliptical, bike, and treadmill for 20 minutes each.

Friday - Will stay within points and do new Firm video.

Saturday - Will do FUN exercise video like Crunch Cardio Dance Blast or Walk Away The Pounds. Will stay on track with WW points.

Sunday - FREE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monday morning - plan to weigh in for a loss of at least 1 pound. :carrot:

Everyone, I hope you are having a great week.

QUESTION: Anyone found any helpful tips this week? My tip for the week would be add a citrus wedge to your water. It makes it easier to drink when you're trying to drink those

01-18-2006, 03:55 PM

Hey everyone!

Just checkin in on "hump day". This week has been pretty good, but I seem to always go over my 1400 calorie limit! Happier news - I was able to do my entire 45 minute TaeBo tape last night without pausing the tape! :carrot: (Yes! I've been dying to use that carrot!) I LOVE TaeBo! It just gives me that wonderful burn feeling!

How is everyone else's week going? :D

01-18-2006, 06:02 PM
Does anyone have any ideas for some low carb snacks? I have been using the to track what I am eating and it's way too many carbs. Everything I eat seems to be carbs even though it's low fat or fat free. Hope everyone is having a great day.

01-18-2006, 06:24 PM
Katie Bug - which Tae Bo are you using???? I just got the Boot Camp one, but haven't been able to use it yet.

01-18-2006, 06:38 PM
Hi there,

I am new here and I need some support for the last time I fail and my first time succeeding. I've always been a thick person, but very athletic. After I stopped playing soccer the weight started packing on. I lost 30 pounds when I was 20 on WW (I am now 26) but I was not ready to accept that this was a life long commitment and I was not losing weight fast enough. So, I gave up, gained the weight back, and here I am again. I started in November, gave up in December and I am now 7 pounds lighter than when I started. I want to lose at least 50 pounds, and that number is so scary. I am trying to take it day by day, and I keep telling myself "it's just food," but I know that it's not just's habitual, emotional, bordom, happiness and the way I grew up. I've been working out 5 times a week, but being that I am still pretty athletic already I find that my workouts need to be much harder to see te results that I had easily gotten in the past. It's a daily struggle to stay on track but I have been doing pretty good. My scale says I've gained two pounds, and it's really irritating me...trying to look at the big picture. I am looking forward to supporting and getting support for my L....O.......N.......G.. road ahead. Oh, and how the heck do I attach my weight tracker???

Ugh ... I'm so far behind! :dizzy: Sorry I haven't posted in a few days ... things have just been a tad busy ... I promise to be better with posting the rest of the week!

Well, I have some reading to do ... I'll be back in just a bit to do some personals ... before I go :welcome: to any newbies I've missed - you're gonna love this group ... they're AWESOME!

:welcome2: Infrogwetrust! I'm sure you'll find plenty of support here for your weight loss journey!

Sarah, I'm using TaeBo Flex (45 min) and Basic (30 min) right now, but I'm hoping to either get Cardio or Boot Camp soon!

01-18-2006, 08:58 PM
I have been using the Crunch Fat Burning Dance Party DVD (from Target) and it is a pretty easy routine to start out with. It's not very good if you have bad knees though, lots of squating. It fun if you like to dance like I do.

Wow!!! I really have not been around too much the last two days and there are so many updates. I think I need to reread everything to get caught up. I had to drive to Ocean City yesterday (about 5 hours round trip). J, my husband also came home (he has been gone for about 6 days). He did not say anything about my weight loss so I was a little depressed, but have stayed somewhat on track, beside the desert I had a dinner tonight, but I was actually below on my calories so hopefully it will not cause too much damage. I am also starting the monthly bloating phase. I am trying to stay off the scale (I have been it almost every day to make sure I am still on track).

Inforgwetrust - Welcome. it seems a lot of have had the up and downs over the years, but we seem to be looking for moving forward on a new path.

kmccann - I have used veggies for most of my low carb snacks - mushrooms stuffed with articoke hearts, celery, also turkey breast slices wrapped with low cal/fat creamcheese

Elizabeth - thanks for checking in on me. I am still trying to stay on the right path. Even in the car yesterday I had a soft taco for lunch (one, instead of two or three in the past) and then grabbed a diet soda and a single fig newton serving pack on the way home for a snack. I got the Biggest loser DVD workout today via netflix so I am going to try that tomorrow morning.

Catherine - congrats on the weight loss - every little bit will add up

I know I missed some, but I have some catching up to do reading through the posts. - not sure if this would work - here is the dress I got. I got the one in pink with the matching shawl.

Take care all and keep going - E

Hi all,
Had a great day today went for a walk which was a nice change from the elliptical , I may do it anyway we'll see;)

Elizabeth: you are awesome the way you keep up with everyone...13 rocks:cb:

Catherine: I cannot resist the scales either they call to me I only count what they say on Sat but I keep tabs daily Congrats on the downward creep of numbers:cp:

Sarah: Sounds like you are having an awsome week keep up the good work. My tip is sugar free halls when in tempting situations they have a really strong flavour so you don't want to pop anything else in your mouth.:barf:

Katie: Congrats on making it through the entire tape I know how hard it is to keep going sometimes....actually most of the time :^:

You all have a fantastic Thursday

01-19-2006, 12:13 AM
Katie Bug - I was thinking of renting Tae Bo Flex from Netflix - is it super hard cardio, or is it stretching and stuff? I was just wondering why it's called "Flex." Ooohhh - good idea starting with the Basic. I watched the Boot Camp Tae Bo first tape, and whoa, do I need a refresher course! lol :sumo:

Lori - omg what a great idea about the halls. LOL Every night after dinner, I've been brushing my teeth and that helps. But I need something I can do quick at work. And I don't like to brush my teeth at work because our bathrooms are GROSS, so the Halls should do the trick! :p

 Welcome to the newbies! Glad you could join us!!!!!!!!!

Good night everyone.

Welcome to 2006, and Happy New Year everyone!

I am trying to get a bit more "into" the journey I embarked on 3 months ago.
I have made efforts to:

1. Go to the gym at least 3 times per week.
2. Work on my cardio more while at the gym.
3. Cut out junk food (I haven't been too successful at this one, yet!)
4. Work on my self-esteem and realize that having a man in my life does not change who I really am, so I need to work on why I need validation from others.
5. Less salt
6. Less sugar
7. I am working to cut portion sizes in half, as I load my plate up FULL when I have a meal.
8. Have a healthy breakfast every morning.
9. Stop eating AT LEAST 2 hours before bed.
10. BE HAPPY!!!!!
11. Experience true JOY for the first time in my life!

Good luck to everyone with their goals. One thing I have learned, my little piece of advice to everyone...DO IT FOR YOU AND YOU ALONE!!!

One for every five pounds lost:

I jsut wanted to say good morning ot everyone and to have a great day before I would run off to work!!

Hey to all.
I'm only 2 days into my diet and already goofing. :( I haven't gone over my points but I've eaten more points than I intended. I like to try to stay with my basic points during the week and save my extras for the weekend but so far that hasn't been the case. I did come across a low point sweet snack for those interested. For those of you on WW it's only about 1-2 points per snack.

:chef:Use low fat or fat free grahm crackers and low fat or fat free cool whip. Break the grahm cracker into 2 squares. Put a scoop of cool whip (about 2 tbsp) on one cracker and top with other and squish down. Place them in the freezer. When you need a sweet snack just pull one out. They taste almost as good as an Icecream sandwich.:chef:

I have an elliptical that my husband got me for my birthday. It seems like everytime I step on the thing one of my boys needs something. So I don't really get to use it that much. I would take them for walks but I have no way of carrying all 3. I have a double stroller but my older son just walks too slow. I do try to go when my mom can walk with me and can push my older son in the other stroller but It just gets frustrating feeling like I have absolutely no time for myself. My husband kayaks, and goes every chance he gets but I feel like I'm not allowed to have a life outside the house. That can be depressing and makes me feel like why should I bother to look better. Anyway, I know I'll get there it just takes time and patience.

01-19-2006, 03:35 PM
Hello everybody! Well, my day at work was not so great. Some peoples negative attitudes about everything bring me down. I left work and I wanted a Mushroom Swiss Burger or a hot Italian Sub. I really had to talk my self out of it. I had worked over, past the time that I eat lunch. I kept myself control and the control of my car and came home. Then I had my small can of chicken with some whole grain crackers, it wasn't what I wanted but I am not hungry anymore. I am looking forward to my chef salad( no cheese) for dinner. Today was my first day I really wanted something to eat like I used to. And of course it would have been a lot. I did it though and plan to keep strong. Because I know I can do it. My husband says I can too. I called him to tell him I was hungry.
Hope everyone else is doing well. I am going to go! Thanks for listening!

01-19-2006, 08:30 PM
I have nto had the best day. I gave into thai food. No excuse besides really wnated it. I did break up the portion adn had the one resturant serving for lunch and dinner (I guess that is the improvement from when I use to eat the whole dish for lunch).

I also have some of the weight loss blahss since I feel like I am retaining water weight (the joy of being a woman). Anyway I am reminding myself not to weigh / check the scale through this week so I do not get depressed. I need to get back on track on counting calories. I feel like I am on track and the clothes are loose. I think I feel my wedding ring moving. I know it is not, but it is not stuck in the one spot it was indented in to so I guess that is positvie though the scale is not showing improvement.

So I guess my long thought is there are going to me a lot of little steps, but I will be patient !!!

JAMAMOM - awesome job on not giving into the sub or sandwich. :)

Serena - I know it is not easy finding time. I try to get some time inthe mornign before my little one gets up (I know it is easier when there are one instead of three). Also I told my husband this year I want to do some stuff for me so I ask him to give me 15 minutes a night to get my calorie down and pack my "good" lunch for the next day - this is typically after dinner. If I do not get time in the morning I spend sometime after my child goes to bed or while J is putting him to bed and try to squeeze in 20 minutes or so that way

Hope everyone else is doing well - take care - Erin

Hey everyone! I'm so glad it's Friday!

My diet has been pretty much right on track except for today. I avoid having cookies and other sweets around, but today at school there was a bake sale, and I gave in to temptation and ate 6 cookies :( I feel really bad about it.. Now I'm scared to weigh in tomorrow!

I have accumulated a lot of healthier food in the past week or so: ground turkey, Healthy Choice dinners, yogurt, low-cal soups, bags of salad, some white wheat bread (I'm taking baby steps to go to whole wheat).. The list goes on!

Sarah, I know what you mean about needing a refresher course! Last week I felt so uncoordinated because I hadn't been doing TaeBo. I wouldn't really consider Flex super-hard cardio. It's called Flex because at the end of some reps, Billy will yell "FLEX" and you're supposed to hold your position - like, if you are doing kicks, you will kick and hold it there for 8 counts. It's challenging to hold it (especially on kicks!), but it has improved my balance and strengthened my core! I sound like a commericial

Here's a sample meal plan:
Breakfast - a package of Quaker cinnamon oatmeal, and 12 oz. of a fruit juice (orange, etc.).

Lunch - A few slices of turkey on white wheat bread (some days I have soup), a tangerine, and some of those Quakers Quakes rice snack things

Dinner - Tonight I'm having an turkey burger with soy sauce grilled on my George Foreman grill, a salad with low cal Italian vinaigrette, and a serving of veggies. Yum!

Snacks - I usually have one after dinner because I usually stay up late and I get hungry before I go to bed. Some options: a piece of fruit (strawberries, bananas, apples, tangelos, or tangerines are my favorite), a Yoplait smoothie or cup of yogurt, a few pieces of beef jerky, and if I have a chocolate craving, a cup of low-cal hot chocolate.

Wow, I really wrote a book today!

01-20-2006, 06:10 PM
Well, I have lost two more pounds;) My regular exercise routine starts tomorrow. I walked today. And did some weights. My 9 year daughter is going to workout with me. My father-in-law even said he would walk with me.
Speaking of Lean Cuisine. Have anybody else tried the Panini Sandwiches. They are absolutely awesome. They are a little high in fat for me . I am trying to stay at 5gms or under per meal, but they do fill any cravings I may have. I only eat them at dinner. My meals are going to vary from all of yours.
I go to work at 4 am so the easy way in the morning is to drink a Glucerna.

My lunch break which is your breakfast I have chicken or tuna with 4 whole wheat crackers. Sometimes I eat Dannon light & fit ,carb & sugar control yogurt, I will have that with a diet pudding. Sometimes I may have Quaker smart heart oatmeal or smart start cereal.

For snacks I eat snack bars. I love the South Beach Diet's Cranberry Almond the best.

For dinner I usually have a salad with chicken or a plate of vegetables. unless of course I eat a lean Cuisine or such.

And then there is all that WATER!

I eat very little fruit because of my diabetes. I am also trying to keep to under 30 carbs per each of the six small meals.

Well that is me ! I am going to go! I get to go out with friends tonight. I have not done it in years. It is something for me! My husband said to have fun! TAlk to all of you this weekend!

Hi everyone!!

I would love to be part of your group! I just turned 18 on November 21 and I joined Weight Watchers the day after. So far, I have lost 10 pounds! This time it's a real weight loss, not like those other diets: aka: South Beach or Atkins. By next year, I want to look like a whole different person. I have had long blonde hair for my whole life, and once I get to my dream goal, I will be cutting it and dying it chocolate brown :) I am so excited, it's such a new start for me. So far, I have been drinking 6-8 cups of water daily, and doing some form of excersize every day for 45-60 minutes. I started lifting little 3 pound weights today. I am eating healthier foods and more fruit and vegetables. I go back to Weight Watchers on Wednesday, and I am really reaching to lose 2 pounds or more this week. But anyway, I would love to be a part of this group and I wish you all good luck!

I was so thrilled to find this website, am inspired to begin a weight loss and exercise program; had my children all home for xmas and realized how I want to be around for all of them as long as possible. I have been separated for 12 years and raised my four children, working two jobs, so how did I find so much time to eat? Currently weigh 272 pounds, would love to get down below 200 by June. After 12 years, I have finally rejoined the dating pool; scary, scary, scary. The gentlmen who ask me out all tend to be younger, fit, and , gorgeous, I am very flattered but petrified; as many of you may concur, I look much better with clothes on!! I would like to find a serious relationship but until I have more confidence in how I look i will always be pushing men away. Help! I want a full and happy future with a new man and beautiful grandchildren. I want to join your group and take up the challenge of weight loss for 2006. This is like a last ditch effort for me as I am 52 years old, with a little luck and adopting a healthier life style I may have 50 years to go. I am new to all this so if you have things you need me to do to join, please send me and email at Thanks.

Hi everybody! I'm restarting my weight loss journey this year after hitting a plateau about a year and a half ago. In that year and a half, I regained 40+ pounds!

While I want to lose weight for myself, and my health (I have PCOS which is a strong indicator of future development of type 2 diabetes) I am also hoping to lose weight towards another goal.

I am joining the Peace Corps, and I was shocked at my physical to see how much weight I had gained. I really want to lose at least 50 pounds before I leave to begin serving in the Peace Corps. This is very important to me, and I plan on working hard to reach this goal. I'd love to join this forum, good luck to everyone, looking forward to support and supporting!

Good Evening everyone. :welcome2: Good to have the newbies here!

Ms. Right-I just wanted to say good luck with the dating and I looked at your picture and was shocked, there's no way you are 52. From the picture you don't look a day over 40!

Catherine-Looks like we both had a good day with the 2 pounds. :goodscale

I am just so glad it's Friday. My son, Montana's birthday is Monday and we are partying all weekend. He'll be 7! :woo: I have to stay away from the cake. He wants to go roller skating so I may attempt to get in my exercise by "trying" to skate. I used to be really good at it but that was my teenage years.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and keep up the good work!:balloons:

Thank you for welcoming me, and yes, I am 52, that pic was taken last July. God has been good that I don't look my age, but believe me I feel it! Am so excited about losing weight and exercising my way into the future, I appreciated the breakfast and lunch food postings, will look forward to them. I did do a great lunch for myself today: sauted crook necked squash, mushrooms, a little onion, and 3 ounces of lean pork, seasoned with lemon pepper, a little salt and pepper and just a dot of tabasco, in 1 tblsp of olive oil. It was great, and felt good eating healthy. Thanks for having this site, I am so encouraged that with all of you out there fighting the same battle i will be successful this time. :carrot:

Morning all & welcome to all the newbies!!!

I worked out this morning (did THe Biggest Loser workout) and I can feel it in the back of my legs as I sit. I am waiting for a work crew to do some repairs to our driveway and landscaping (our oil delivery guy dropped a couple gallons in our driveway) so I need the company and enviromental crew to come out and fix what happened.

Anyway it sounds like everyone had a good week.

Ms Right - congrats on making the decision ot move forward into the future with weightloss. It sounds like you made the decision for you and that is AWESOME! THnaks for the suggestion on lunch - love anything with a bit of hot/spicey so I will have to try it.

kmccann - good luck staking - last time I went I broke my wrist - now that was over 10 years ago so I am sure will have better luck - Happy Birthday to your son as well.

Kristen - WTG on joing the PC ... good for you and good luck on meeting your goal

Catherine - 2 pounds off - that is great - good luck on the exercise routines - once you get going I know you do great and can stay with it.

jen1121 - I hope the WW is going well and welome I am sure you will look
amazing in brown hair (I have to say brunettes are cool - I happen to be one)

Katie bug - your weigh in will be fine I am sure the rest of your good work will counteract the cookies

Elizabeth - good luck on your weigh in as well. I typically bring in pre pack things for lunch - lean cusine, starkist prepack tuna kits, and soups. On Fridays I have been getting sushi as a treat and I will try to avoid eating out the rest of the week for lunch (it is hard at my office a majority of everyone eats out so there are always more tempting lunch options).

Breakfast is granola bar (120 c) and some fruit or eggs.

I am aiming to do atleast 30 mins of exercise a day for 6 days during the week. Hope everyone has a great weekend -

Oh and my dress came in - it fits thanks to a bit strechy material. It is a little tight in the tummy so that will be my target area for the next 4 - 6 weeks. Any suggestions will be great.

Take care - sorry for the lengthy post.

Erin

It's going to be another great day. :carrot: I have a bad habit of getting on the scales every morning and I was down another 2 pounds. I have finally started up again. I wish you could do that every morning but I know it's only the first couple of weeks that I loose like that. Next weeks goal is 1 pound a week. I have to get down to 199 by July 6 which gives me 23 weeks. I will have to get in 2 pounds for a few of those weeks. Hope everyone has a wonderful day, got to go skating!

Hello everyone! and :welcome: to the newbies!

Just stopped for a quick check - in.. I weighed in this morning at 173 - 2 pounds down! Woohoo! I'm very glad yesterday's cookie binge didn't seem to affect my weight much.

I'm off to my cousin's birthday party.. I'm going to try to not have a binge on sweets, so I'm going to limit myself to one serving of whatever looks the yummiest :)

01-21-2006, 01:16 PM
Well I had my weigh in today I am down a pound that puts me squeeking into the one hundreds  Bye bye twos. I was hoping for a two pound loss so I could add another little dancer man but something to aim for next week.
Have a shiney day

01-21-2006, 03:19 PM
Nighthawk: I'm up in Prince George. It's cool here right now, but I would much rather be in Osoyoos! We used to go to visit my ex's parents quite a bit. *Sigh*

It's so great to come in here and see how everone is doing. I am floored at some of the major weight losses I've seen! All you ladies are amazing! Keep up the good work everyone and the best of luck!

01-21-2006, 03:37 PM
Hello everyone! Welcome to all of the new ladies that we have! You will find that this will be great for you! It seems two pounds was a weight loss for quite a few people.

kmccann- Skating what a wonderful thing! My son's birthday is Monday. A no school day and we as a family are going to go skating! We love to do it. This will be the first time in awhile since we started taking care of my father-in-law that we will be able to do something together. The first time after the rink opened, I fell real hard, it had been twenty years! I bruised my tail bone real bad, you have to think of all that weight falling on it! I hurt for weeks, it messed my up on the insides. I still go back. It is fun and healthy. Do you do inline or quad skates? Everybody should try skating if you are able!

Well I got to go out with friends last night. The first in awhile. I laughed, we all laughed until I almost peed my pants. I really needed that time. everybody needs time like that. :D

Well, I am still sticking with the diet even when I made everyone waffles and bacon. I still had my bowl of cereal. My husband is making a pork roast on the grill tonight to make pulled Pork. I will eat soem of it with out sauce and then of course my salad. Yes, he cooks on the grill even on cold, windy nights!:dizzy:
Well, gotta go! LOL to everyone! Have a great weekend!

01-21-2006, 08:10 PM
My weigh showed no change, but I have to remember I have had great success the past couple weeks. I am hoping to lose at least 2 next week.

Hope everyone had a good day.

01-21-2006, 10:36 PM
Hi everyone!
The skating didn't go so well. When we got to the rink, there were about six kids birthday parties going and over 100 kids so I chickened out! I inline skate when I am brave enough to get out there. I used to skate on the quads but it is much easier on the inlines, you don't feel like your falling forward! We are going back soon and not on a Saturday afternoon, maybe during the week.

Catherine-How old will your son be Monday? Tell him Happy Birthday! I hope you all have a great time.

Erin-It's okay to have a week when you don't loose. I always have a good week or two and then the next it will start again. I think it may be part of being a woman! Keep up the good work!

Lori-Congrats on the lose. You are right where I want to be by summer. I would love to see a "1" on the front instead of the "2". Your doing great.

01-22-2006, 11:03 AM
Morning all - I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. I was up and going this morning. Getting time in the ellipitical, some running and some crucnhes and push ups.

Goals this week - :ebike:

- more water
- exercise 6 days a week (30 mins) Mon - Sat
- weight loss - 2 pounds
- calories count - at 1600 - 1700 daily

On another note, I got frustrated with my scale not showing something the last week and actually showing an increase today. It had been floating around the same point through my period so I was ok with that, but today it showed a 5 pound increase and I do not feel bloated at all. I got on it again and it showed a 10 pound difference - hihger- within seconds. I bought this digital scale over a year ago so I think the battery is going, but I can not find where to put the replacement battery. Honestly it does not look like an easy replacement. I pull out the old basic scale we have and it says 278!!!!!!!!! I weighed myself 2 times and it was within a pound. I checked both with a five pound hand weight ... guess what old faithful non digital was right on the money while the digital said 7 & 9. I think I am going to buy a new one this week to be sure - any suggestions??

Good luck everyone - Erin

I haven't posted here before, but just wanted to let you all know that I have been lurking and you have been such an inspiration to me!! Thanks! I'd love to join you as a daily poster - and couldn't find anywhere that this was a "closed" buddy group - so I'll start posting here if that's OK. I've run into Erin on another thread, but aside from that don't believe I've "met" any of you before.

I'm Nori, 34yo, married to J since '99, 2 dd's ages 2y and 9m - 17 months apart. I've been fat for most of my adult life, and obese for at least 10. My high weight was 284 8 years ago and then I lost 115 pounds very quickly, on a VLCD, only to gain almost all of it back over the past 7 years. This past year has been real rough. Had dd#2 in April and she had Failure To Thrive and severe colic. Some how between the every-other-day visits from the home health nurse and the 14 hours of screaming every day I sunk into a depression - where I actually didn't care about my weight at all, or being healthy. I gained 30 pounds after her birth. Anyways, something clicked the beginning of this month - that and the fact that I was growing out of all my size 20's and starting to live in baggy yoga style clothing.:(

I joined 3FC's in November but didn't start being healthy until 1-5-06. My SW was 263 and now I'm 255. My longterm gw is 140-160 (we'll see when I get closer). My first mini goal is to be 238 - which was my weight before all this post-partum funk started. Next mini goal - really target this "muffin top" that rides over the top of my jeans!!! I'm just counting calories - eating foods I enjoy, just less of them and cutting out the high fat foods.

Elizabeth - I have to ask how you like that Denise Austin walk dvd? I have the WATP 3 mile and have enjoyed it this week. I'm house-bound since both of my girls are sick. I normally go to the gym everyday, but of course they cannot go into the day care there while sick. I want to get a few more dvd's for times like this, because after 6 days straight of doing this one, it is getting a little boring.

Erin - don't be down about not losing this week. You've done great and with that much weight loss in the first 2 weeks, you body is probably just adjusting. It'll even out and you'll lose this week. I think you do need a new scale though! Those #'s are too off. GREAT workout, btw!

And YES, Ms Right - you look amazing!!!!

Hi to everyone else - it'll take me awhile to learn everyone's names. Looking forward to the rest of 2006!

01-22-2006, 06:53 PM
I've just recently tried to start back on my diet and so far I've failed misserably but I was wondering if any one could suggest a good aerobics video. I don't have a very high energy level right now so I'm looking for something low impact. I know I would eventually like to try taebo and bootcamp but I think they might be a bit much for me right now.

01-22-2006, 07:06 PM
Hi everyone and Welcome to the newcomers!

I was kind of wondering the same thing Serena is, I need a good workout video as well. I have the crunch dance but I don't really "feel the burn".

Erin-Is the biggest looser dvd a hard workout? I was wondering if there's a lot of working out on your back or mostly standing. I have very tender muscles in my lower back and gave away a "Pilata's for beginners" video because I couldn't do it.

I made a wonderful low fat banana pudding. If anyone is interested I can post the recipe. 161 calories and 3 grams of fat for a good size serving.

Have a good evening!

Hi Everyone,
I am having a great day so far, which doesn't mean all that much since I work nights and just got up (it's 3 pm here) I was just thinking I have two little weight goals to try for this week if I lose one pound that puts me a nice round 15 pounds and I can add another little dancing man and if I can manage to lose 2 lbs then that puts me in a new BMI(35) so I will be extra faithful to my food plan and next Sat do a little happy dance (how many cal burned in a happy dance I wonder)

Lorretta: You are way up north I agree with you it is awesome here

Catherine: How nice to go out as a family that is always fun Hope you have a super time Monday. It's always great to have a bunch of laughs with friends. I work on locked dementia ward I know how difficult their behaviors can become, kudos to you for keeping you FIL at home.

Erin: 10 lbs in seconds that is the stuff that nightmares are made off. You have great goals this week that should get you your 2 lbs no prob

Nori: Hi nice to meet you I'm your neighbour to the north I live in Kelowna BC. Hope smallest sweet pea is doing well now, what a tough go you've had, but welcome to the good life;) sounds like you're doing much better

Have a super Sunday

Hello everyone..I would like to join your group...I've been reading on here and this seems to be a very active and motivated group...I would love to be part of a active supportive group like this...:D
A little about me..I'm 36, single with a 18 yr old daughter...I've had a weight problem now for 18 years....I started my new way of eating healthy (diet just seems like a bad word) on 12-19-05..also joined this site on that same day...I stumbled across this web site and was so movitated that I had to start that day....I have lost some in the past but most of it has managed to come back over the last few years..

My start weight was 198, my goal is 140 and I'm now at 184..I've lost 14lbs since I've started....I am counting calories and trying to make good food choices....I bought a stationary bike and I ride for a min of 30 mins a day..I also started do the biggest loser dvd workout....I really like it..I bought the tabeo bootcamp but it just to tough right now...I need to get in better shape first...

Hope everyone has a great day and I will chat at you all later

I've just recently tried to start back on my diet and so far I've failed misserably but I was wondering if any one could suggest a good aerobics video. I don't have a very high energy level right now so I'm looking for something low impact. I know I would eventually like to try taebo and bootcamp but I think they might be a bit much for me right now.Well this week since I haven't been able to go to the gym, I've been doing the Walk Away The Pounds 3 Mile dvd. It's about 50 minutes long and includes walking, side steps, double side steps, knee lifts, double knee lifts, kicks and kick backs. It's not intense. But I do get my heart rate up and sweat. I like it and am thinking to get her WATP Walk&Jog next. And the Biggest Loser dvd. WATP get's lots of good reviews here on 3fc's.

Lori - I've got to go look at a map to figure out where Kelowna is. I've only been to Abbotsford, Chilliwack (sp?), and to Prince George (that was a LONG drive!).

01-22-2006, 07:42 PM
PS. Serena - you haven't failed as you said - I say you haven't failed until you quit!! Andyou haven't quit!!

01-22-2006, 08:38 PM
I will have to say the Biggest Loser workout is a good one. Bob leads it with contestants from the shows. Everyone is "real" there are mess ups that were not corrected, people going at their own pace and alternatives. I have done the first levels and I will tell you I still feel it the day after.

I also like the dance works outs, but I have not found a really good one that I liked. I am trying different ones through Netflix to find options I really like.

On another note, I am going out tomorrow night to look for a new scale. I said something to my sister in law. She said it is a sign of needing a new battery, but I could not find the place to replace the battery. Honestly I think I spent $20 on it so I think I got my money's worth. I am also looking on amazon and some other websites to get the best I could. I am thinking my weight lost may not be as great as I though it was, but I want to be accurate. At least all my pants are getting loser. I also checked my inches and there are two less on my waist so at least I know there has been some type of progress.

Have a good night gang. I got to get somethings together for tomorrow's work day.

A GREAT BIG WELCOME TO ALL OF OUR NEWBIES!!! This is a great group - have fun!

To the fabulous ladies asking about workout videos. I have videos from The Firm which combine strength training and cardio. They always have someone doing modifications, too, so it's easy to follow along. However, I've spent the last 6 months building up to The Firm sets by using Leslie Sansone's WATP (Walk & Kick is great, too), and Winsor Pilates.

Now, about my weight in. I lost ONE POUND! I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed, because I counted my points and I exercised 4 days last week, so I expected a little more. I think I need to focus back on the WW Guidelines. For instance, this weekend I didn't exercise AT ALL, and I didn't drink my water or eat enough fruits and veggies.

Elizabeth - how was your new Denise Austin video?

Ladies, keep up the great work. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!

01-23-2006, 12:36 PM
Hi everyone. I am terribly embarrassed that I have not taken the time to post over the last several days, and I will try to do better with that. I have had alot of things on my mind and on my plate (the proverbial plate, that is ;) ), but I know I need to be on here in order to stay on track. The BF is back on the road for the next 2 weeks, and I will need you guys to help me make some strong progress before he gets back - especially since I will be starting my TOM this week and will be feeling way too big. :censored:

I hope you are all well - welcome to all the newbies we have gotten over the past week and I hope you are as glad to be part of the group as I am!

01-23-2006, 04:35 PM
Well this is the start of week two being house bound with sick kiddos. My 2 year old seems to be on the mend now and keeps asking to go "play" - that's what she calls the gym!!! Of course she does get to play. It still seems like "work" to me!! My 9 month old is SO sick though. I think it's just a cold of the "regular variety", but I did put a call into the peds this am. I could suction her nose every 15 minutes and it just doesn't stop. Eating is difficult. Everything is difficult for her. Poor thing. She's coughing so bad now and just cannot get rest.

But the good news is that woking out at home worked for me and I lost another 3 pounds last week. I've lost 3 pounds each week for the past 3 weeks, and suppose it'll slow up a little any time now. Especially since I will get AF next week. (I'm not used to calling her TOM yet.) Today I did Denise Austin's Shrink Your Female Fat Zones and it was a great workout. I'm going to do WATP later this afternoon. I'm having DH pick up the Biggest Loser dvd for me today - since I cannot make it out of the house. We tried to rent it, but it was always out. I hope the mis-steps don't distract me too much. I'm a little concerned about that because even shoe laces dragging on dvd's kinda bug me!:^:

Erin - did you get a new scale?

Well, gotta go eat some lunch. Only ate 1/2 a Zone bar for bf because I've been sobusy being a Mom!:)

01-23-2006, 07:57 PM
Hi gang,

Nori - I have not gotten the scale yet, but I bought an upgranded verision off ebay it should be here at the end of the week. It is one of the fat monitor/body scale. SOrry to hear the kids are sick and I hope they are feeling better.

I did weigh in our office scale ( I work at an insurnace agency). It said 284 so I am not sure where I actually am. I am fine with 280s becuase it is still lower than I have been. One of the girls at work said she could tell in my stomach and someone I have not seen in two months said I was looking good so for the meantime I have to be happy with those results. I have a doctor's appointment in the begining of March so hopefully I will get a good idea of how accurate the new scale is after I have that appointment.

I ate really well today. Not much exercise - I am hoping to get something in after my son goes to bed and before I get some work done at home tonight. Tomorrow will be an early day in the office so I will have to work out otmorrow night as well.

Divalared - my husband is back on the road this week. I know it is hard when they ar out of town, but I just try to keep my portion under control.

Have a good night all

01-23-2006, 08:32 PM
When I worked in a pediatric office one of the docs worked with anorexic girls and we had one of those scales. Just make sure you follow the directions that come with it regarding the body fat calculations. Ours wasn't a super duper one - it was a Tanita and around $200 - but it mattered what time of day it was, what your water intake was (anorexics will drink lots of water right before weighing), if you were on AF...anyways, it was very cool, but very particular. Hopefully your's will be easier. Let us know.

My baby does have an ear infection. I'm so glad I went ahead and took her in. It's her first one. Poor thing. At least she got some antibiotics and hopefully will be feeling better in 2-3 days now.

01-24-2006, 01:15 PM
Where is everyone? How is your week going? I went to the doctor today for my yearly exam. Even with the weight I've lost, I still got the "you're clinically obese" talk. Talk about depressing. My blood pressure was up, and the dr. asked me to go get blood work done. So I walked up to the lab and they took 5 vials of blood for different tests. She wanted to check my thyroid, vitamin b12 levels, blood sugar, cholesterol, iron levels, and it seems like there was something else.

The good news? Only a few pounds to go where I move from the "obese" section on the bmi scale to the "overweight." YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here's to removing the word "obese" from our charts, ladies.

01-24-2006, 01:51 PM
Hi everyone. Well I did manage to last 10 minutes on the eliptical last night which is an accomplishment for me cause I usually can't last more than 5 so yay for me. Two of my 3 boys have been sick this week too. Boy is that rough. About two months ago all 3 were really sick and they all were taking 2 to 3 different medications a piece so I was having to write down every little thing that I gave them and when just to make sure I didn't over dose any of my children. It would take me about a half an hour to give all of them their medicines during the day. Anyway, I really love my husband but I might would actually do better if he were one of the out of towners just cause he doesn't know how to be supportive correctly. When I tried to start back on WW a few months ago, my first week back I lost 4 pounds and he was like that's great and then the next week I lost 2 pounds and he was like you need to do better next week. So I started eating what i wanted and was back where i started. I'm an extreme emotional eater. This turned out to be more of a personal life than a weight loss post, sorry, but I just don't have anyone to talk to these days. The few people that I thought were friends turned out to be users and the one friend I do have moved away.

01-24-2006, 02:19 PM
Miss Serena, anytime you need to post emotions or weight loss info, IT IS ALL WELCOME!!!! Trust me, this week, I will be doing much more personal than weight!!!!

Have you tried telling your hubby that he is not motivating you the way you need him to? Alot of guys actually aren't trying to be mean (I hope that is your case) but they just don't know how to adjust their "sensitivity chip" when it comes to dealing differently with women than they do their buddies. He needs to try and understand that with 3 kids, losing ANY weight in a week is a HUGE accomplishment (I should know - I have no kids and haven't lost ANY  )

01-24-2006, 02:28 PM
Hi Everyone.
So far this week has been going well for me I took a couple of days off on the elliptical and it really gave me energy for Mondays work out I blew my previous best distance out of the water ( I stay on for 1 hour no matter how slow I am moving) I joined weight watchers Sat and my food has been really good since then. My official weigh in day isn't til Sat but I am addicted to the scales and so far it looks pretty good this week.

Nori: Kelowna is straight north from Omak about an hours drive over the border.

Serena - great job on the elliptical! Like you, when I started using the elliptical, I could only do 5 - 10 minutes at a time. I'm happy to say, when you keep at it, you really can add time! Now, I get on and do 45 minutes. Then, to keep things constantly changing, I do either the treadmill or the stationary bike. (My gym days are M, T, Th, Fr)

Lori - way to go upping the distance!!!!!!! Can I ask how far you're going? I need to go faster, I think. It's taking me 15 minutes to do a mile.

DivaLaRed - lol! Love the "sensitivity chip." LOL Guys just have a different perspective on so much.

:^: Hi Ladies :grouphug: ~

I hope this finds all of you doing well ! I am so sorry I haven't been around. I am not much on during the weekends since that's when we're working on our home renovation project, and we got to spend ample time with Sam who is 10 months old !! I have enjoyed reading and playing catch up with all of your posts !! I came to work yesterday full anticipating to get on here and say Hello, but our net was down so I was so unhappy :( Anywhoo. . . on a positive this weekend it was so nice J & I took Sam out for a stroll down out country road we live on. You would have thought he won the lottery he was SO Excited !! J & I both have been dieting and exercising ~:coach: which I've just got to get off my frumpy rump and do !! :drill: )

What I REALLY want to know is how EVERYONE of you Ladies is doing ? :chin:
From what I've read everyone seems to be doing quite well ? :carrot:

:welcome3: to all the Newcomers !! I hope you enjoy being part of this AWESOME group of Ladies !! I look forward to hearing ALL about you and what you're doing on your personal diet journey !! :welcome3:

From the posts ~ It seems everyone is doing well on their diet and exercise !!

I also wanted to share a little update of what I am doing !! Hope you don't mind !! :^:

Weightloss & Diet UPDATE !!!

I have lost an additional 3 lbs ~ for Grand Total of 16 lbs since January 1st :)

Here's some of what I am doing as stated in my 1st initial post in this thread:

1. Completely gave up sugar - Splenda is a wonderful supplement for helping tone down the sweet tooth !

2. Eating a maximum of 1200 calories a day ~ if that

3. Limit of 1 Soda a day, Diet & pref. Caffeine free

4. Exercise at least 30 mins a day (still struggling w/ this one)

5. Drinking LOTS of water !!

My Mom is a retired Registered Dietian, and so that helps out a TON !! She counts everything at dinner. And it's a surprise with certain things we eat for a meal. But she gives me an analysis every night, so I can maintain my caloric intake !! YAY for my Mom !!

Yay for J my hubby who's doing this too - he's losing inches and weight !! And he's SO supportive !!

And to answer some of ya'll about the Denise Austin dvd - I haven't tried it yet !! Which is TERRIBLE - but that is on my BIG to-do list !! ;)

Thank you ladies, also for sharing your meal plans, snack ideas, and helpful hints. :carrot: :cb:

My one tip - when you need to curb your sweet tooth - Purchase Sugar Free Gum and chew it until your jaws are sore !! I know that sounds ICK, but the flavor and smell and the achy jaws does me in :o

Hugs ~

Hey Ladies! How is everyone?

I haven't been around for the past few days. I kind of fell off the wagon this weekend and didn't count calories at all. I've also had no energy whatsoever - I'm struggling to stay awake right now! I hope this goes away because I miss my intense workouts.

In other news, I found a beautiful dress for prom this year - (I hope this link isn't removed) Now I have extra motivation to lose weight. Prom is April 29, so I'll have plenty of time to lose some inches around my waist and hips, my two problem areas. I'm excited! :carrot:

edit: Elizabeth, that is a very cute image in your signature :)

01-24-2006, 07:28 PM
Well it has been a long day. I really do not think I am going to get to the 30 min mark today (of exercise), but I did get a little in here and there. I do not want to drain myself for the entire week. I am doing well on the calories and water intake. I am probably drinking too many sodas, but if they are diet I can live with that.

Katie - that is a great dress; I am sure you will look great.

Take care - Erin

My 2 year old is sitting here and when I opened the link, she exclaims, "Oh pretty...dress for dance..."! I think she's been watching too much Dancing With The Stars - right off the bat she knew what you wore a dress like that for - God knows I don't have any!

BTW - I did The Biggest Loser workout dvd this morning. It is GOOD! I really feel that I worked all my muscles and can see why these folks toned up so well!

Look who the cat drug in!! Y'all remeber me?? I know I haven't been around the last several days ... things with work have just been super busy - I promise to do much better this week!

Elizabeth :: Just wanted to let you know that I'm moving in with your mom - so let her know I'm coming! lol The DH & I were talking this weekend and told him that I was going to find either a Dietitian and/or a Nutritionist this week, I've had it with trying to figure it all out - but again things have been so busy that I haven't done that either! grrrrr *making note* I WILL make that call tomorrow!
:carrot: :carrot: on 16 lbs so far ... you're doing an awesome job hun, keep it up!!

Katie :: The dress is gorgeous, you're going be stunning in it! Be sure to post some pics after so we can see!

Big *waves* to everyone else ... hope you're all doing ok!
I have tons of reading to catch up on, so I'll be back when I'm done.

Oh and btw - I was down 4 lbs this week - 9 lbs total for the month of January - and Total loss since August is 65 lbs ... I still have a ways to go, but I'm so :D about that!
Also, my DH takes progress pics of me on the 22nd of each month (wearing the same clothes) ... I have new ones posted in my siggy if anyone would like to take a look.

Be back in a bit!

ETA: I've changed the pics in my siggy - didn't want to confuse anyone b/c the post stated that I had the same clothes on and in these I don't! lol

Katie - your dress is very pretty...My daughter is going to prom this year also...hers is in may...I know you will have a wonderful time and you will look great in your dress.

As for me....I didn't get to exercise yesterday...I went to see Aerosmith in concert last night after work....He is so great...They really put on a great show....Didn't get to sleep til after one so not enough sleep....I'm going to try to at least ride my bike tonight but I'm really tired...I am doing good with my eating so far this week.

01-24-2006, 09:00 PM
Hi I would like to join too. I am 43 living in Alberta. I am currently going to WW and am down about 6 lbs. I just joined the gym and go 3 times a week at the very least. I really like it. I am NOT and excercise person but this program really seems to work for me. it is 30 min start to finish--perfect for me.

I am married and have 2 kids 18 & 16 and 1 stepdaughter who is 26 and a grandson who is 16 months. My motivation is to see them all mrrried and happy. My short term goal is to take up hiking with my hubby. We plan on a backpack trip for a weekend in the mountains. I am looking forward to it. I am good on the walking staight and narrow as I have a dog and walk him about 45 minutes 4 times a week but let me tell you that hill just about kill me. I want to be able to do stairs and not be totally out of breath at the top!!

I see you all are trying to quit sugar, HOW on earth do you do that?? Cold turkey? To me it is almost like quitting drugs! I can't even imagine it.

Please help me on this one!

01-24-2006, 11:17 PM
I see you all are trying to quit sugar, HOW on earth do you do that?? Cold turkey? To me it is almost like quitting drugs! I can't even imagine it.

Please help me on this one!Sorry, I cannot help you. I haven't been able to have 1 day so far with NO sugar. I really got into a sugar rut during the holidays this year. I haven't "lost control" with sugar since I started. But I do need to set that as a goal now. Even if I manage to not have a nibble of something sweet, I ALWAYS have 1 teaspoon chocolate syrup in my morning coffee. I do like Splenda - got look into that more.

Elizabeth - do you bake with Splenda? I remember I baked banana bread once and it turned of "different".

01-24-2006, 11:50 PM
Hi Everyone, I've had another good day.:D

Sarah: I was doing a little more then 4 mi on the elliptical then I took off the weekend and Mon I did 5.67 mi, Tues was a less at 4.51 and Today I did 5.16 and, drum roll please, I LIKED IT!! My resolution this year was to do an hour a day I just got on the first of Jan and said I had to keep on till I did an hour on the timer. No moving no time, so a couple of days it actually took almost 70 minutes to do my hour but this week I am liking it.

Elizabeth: Congrats on meeting so many of your goals

Katie: what a beautiful dress you will look stunning in it.

Stacye : I check out your pic what an inspiration you are

Sandy: Nice to meet you, you're going to like here. We have a few thing in common Age, weight, foodplan and I LOVE to hike. I quit sugar cold turkey dec 28 after a few days the craving went away, until then I used sugar free pop to get me through. I find if I stay away from sugar the whole food plan is easier to follow. Good luck with quiting

Have a great Wednesday everyone

I am up and ready to get 15 minutes in before dropping my son at day care and get into work. I am trying to figure out the best way to get my schedule organized so I can get time for an entire workout. I really want to do the Biggest Loser workout again, but I am not sure how working out late at night (after 7) will work - any thoughts for those who work out in the evening. I usually have done morning, but get rushed when my husband is out of town. Right after work is not the best since my 3 yr old son wants to join in and I would end missing half the work out in order to avoid falling on him.

Lori - You have done great with the ellipitical workouts - WAY TO GO!!! :)

Stayce - you did great with the weight loss - good for you!!!

Momto2 - I have baked with spenda at Christmas and sometimes it is trail and error to see which recipes it works in. For sweets I typically use a half and half mix. It at least lowers calories and no one ever says anything (and I usually threaten if you do not say something about it being icky - that means I will keep making it).

Hope everyone has an awesome day - Erin

01-25-2006, 04:37 PM
Hi everyone, hope your having a good day! I have been to the doctor and have a sinus infection and fluid in my ears so the exercise is on hold. Hard to walk on the treadmill when you dizzy. The diet is going okay though because I don't feel like eating (the "only" good thing about being sick). I have only lost the 4 pounds since I started on January 13th.

Erin-I normally work out in the evening, I'm not a morning person. It works well for me and I sleep better but my children are old enough to leave me alone for that time.

Got to go lay down, talk to everyone later!

01-25-2006, 04:38 PM

Katrina ~ So sorry to hear your sick ~ I Do hope you feel better soon !!
To answer some questions about Splenda ~ I use the sugars - both white and brown, and the baking kind. I must admit Splenda in incredible, and I really learned to love it last year when I was pregnant and was Gestational Diabetic ! But it's my friend now since I gave up sugar !! Splenda is wonderful when making just about anything. Once you start using it you get used to it !! :D

Now I have some questions :chin:
What in the WORLD is an elliptical ? I don't know what it is, or what it looks like, etc and so forth :o

Who all is using exercise videos ? Which ones, and how do you like them ?

Well all that's all for now !!! I will be checking in again this afternoon. BTW, another Biggest Loser "Families" starts tonight !! LOVE that show !! :carrot:

01-25-2006, 05:16 PM
hey everyone... i had ww yesterday, and for some odd reason, i gained .6 pounds!! i am so sad because i did everything right! it just doesnt make sense :( well, i hope you are all doing well!

01-25-2006, 05:53 PM
Here's a couple pics of me taken in November - with my two girls.

Just thought I'd share.

I'll bbl to to go do my workout while both of them are sleeping...:carrot:

BTW - Jen, that happens sometimes. You'll make up for it next week. I don't know the scientific reason...and it's frustrating...probably just water...hormones...being a woman... You just have to know that you are doing everything right...and you didn't gain...YOU STILL LOST FAT!!!!!

01-25-2006, 06:29 PM
Hi Jen ~ NO worries on .6 gain !!! It's amazing how much our bodies fluctuate in regards to sodium and water !! Isn't life just GRAND ?! Keep up the good work and hang in there !! ;)

Mom2Two ~ OMG what beautiful Children you have !! Your girls are so precious ! You're so pretty too !! Thanks for sharing pics !! :D

I would LOVE to see pics of all of you !! I know you've seen one pic of J & I, and now our son. :)

Have a wonderful night everyone ~ Eat healthy and EXERCISE !! :carrot:

ttyl and good luck,
oops, I read you lost .6 - but who cares! You still lost fat for sure. It just water distribution!!

01-25-2006, 07:01 PM
Mom2Two ~ OMG what beautiful Children you have !! Your girls are so precious ! You're so pretty too !! Thanks for sharing pics !! :D

Why thanks! Of course I think they're beautiful! Your little fellow is adorable as well! Is he 10 months? I thin k you said that. Melina is 9 months - born 4-11. And I'm always willing to share their pics - it's mine I'm more stingy with. I need to have DH take a full length pic of me soon. The most recent full length picI have is a belly shot (fully clothed:p ) from about 1 year ago. Here's a family picture from July. I couldn't get the colors adjusted right scanning it in, so it's kinda dark.

01-25-2006, 07:14 PM
Hi :) Can I join you all?

01-25-2006, 08:06 PM
Hello everyone! I have been lazy, and not checked in, in a few days! We seem to grow so fast. :welcome2: Today is truly a hump day. I fell off of the wagon today and I ate what I should not have. :o Not only do I emotionly regret it, but I physically regret it. The food just tore my stomach up. I have begun my exercise routine. Haven't done that today either! I would like to try The Biggest Loser tape. You all have said very good things about it. Can't wait until tonights show. Of course, since I go to bed so early because of work, I tape it with Tivo and watch it the next day.

I absolutely love all of the pictures that everyone has posted. I will get my picture on here soon. I will try tomorrow. I have a feeling there are a lot of reality tv viewers on here. I have a picture of my kids with Ty Pennington. They did an Extreme Home Makeover house in my town in December. It has not aired yet. My daughter was ecstatic. We were able to be
closer then most people, we had connections. :smug: We did not stay for the reveal though.

Well, I hope everyone is doing well, hopefully better than I am. My father in law is going through a bad stage right now. It is taking a toll on us. For those who knew I was spending the day with my husband and kids this last Monday, We had a BLAST!:D

Thank you everyone for letting me vent, talk to all of you soon!

01-25-2006, 08:21 PM
Hey everyone
Well I didn't get to exercise yesterday either..I was just too tires from the lack of sleep from the day before.

Elizabeth - I have been using the new biggest loser dvd with Bob far I like it...and I also like quickfix total workout for toning I went to best buy and bought a few dvd workouts of Jillian training from the biggest loser so I will be trying them this week...I also bought a DDR(dance dance revolution) which Ive seen alot of girls on here talk about

sandy - sugar is really hard to cut's my biggest craving...I buy sugarfree hard candys so the flavor last a while and also sugarfree ic cream bars...I also have a reciepe for peanut butter cookies baked with splenda if you all want it...their a little dry but they do the trick....hicking in the mountians sounds like alot of fun...I wish I had something like that to look forward to..

Lori - great job on the elliptical...keep it up girl

Katrina - sorry your sick...get some rest and feel better soon

sweetpeas - your family is so all look so happy.

I try to do my dvd workouts in the morning(that is when I can get my butt out of bed) and I ride my bike at night after supper.
Have a great night everyone

01-25-2006, 08:46 PM
I've done workouts at all times of the day and evening. I usually try to go to the gym arround 11am. Right now I do a dvd wheneven both girls, or at least one is napping.

I like BL and Walk Away The Pounds the best of all my dvd's.

01-25-2006, 10:04 PM
Elizabeth - an elliptical is a machine that you do cardio on, and it's SUPER easy on your joints because your feet are on the pedals the whole time. Here is the brand we use at the gym (Precor isthe brand)

Mom2-Beautiful family!!! Your husband looks like one of my husband's staff sgts.

Hump day Jamamom? YOU BET!!!!!!!!

To everyone - keep up the good work, and whatever you do, don't give up. I just read an article with Bob Greene (Oprah's trainer) that said most of the battle is believing you're worth it and you deserve it.

Good luck!!!

01-25-2006, 10:34 PM
Hi everyone! :) I'm excited to be joining you all. A little bit about me. I am Vanessa :) I am 26, married with two little boys 2.5y and 9months. I am a student at night, working on my bookkeeping.
After my first son was born I weighed my highest of 261. I lost 63 pounds before conceiving my second son a year later. I gained the 63 pounds back to weigh 261 after my second was born too. 9 months later I have lost that 60 pounds and now I am working on the 50 pounds I gained when I got married.
I dont know how I lost that 60 pounds, breastfeeding, stress, a lot of summertime walking with a colicky baby.
I went and got a gym membership, I can go during the day and put my kids in the in house childminding/gymnasticky type of thing they have there. There are tons of classes for me to go to during the day and I have taped the schedule to my wall so I can glance at it and go! I go and see the personal trainer there on friday night.

I spent the day trying to find a sports bra. Heh, what a frustrating thing to do. Everywhere I went had sports bras for 100 pound girls with no boobs. Not a 200 pound mama with nursing boobs!
So, finally I went and ordered a really expensive one from the sears catalogue, but at least I am hoping that my boobs wont move an inch in it.

01-25-2006, 10:56 PM
Hi everyone!!

Well I took my little one and grandmother out to dinner. I had a salad and some chicken breast. We came home and I went to work and did the BL workout. I think it was a little harder after a full day of work, but I am glad I put it in.

Welcome Vanessa - good job on joing the gym - hope you find some classes you like and let us know any pointers the trainer gives you.

Momto2 - your family is a great looking bunch

dgpebbles - let us know how the Jillian Michaels DVDs are - I was thinking of getting those next, but have not heard much on them - would be interested in someones view.

Here is a pic from Halloween 05 of my husband, myself and the little guy. I think this is my heaviest 300ish. I could not find a recnt picture, but will try to get one this weekend.

Take care - E

01-26-2006, 01:23 AM
Allright, it's time for me to hunker down and do some serious work here!!!! I have decided to make mini goals instead of the long term ones (that always seem sooooo much harder to achieve).

For the next 7 days:

1.) Eat less fat and work more vegetables into my meals. :carrot:
2.) MOVE!!!
3.) MOVE some more!!! :ebike:
4.) Smile! :D
5.) Get my heart rate up more, for longer stints (see 2 & 3). :dancer:
6.) Lose 1.5 pounds. :goodscale

01-26-2006, 12:11 PM
I remember the Oprah show had a really good bra that they were showing off unfortunately I couldn't remember the name and couldn't find it on the web sight but you might try looking on her web sight to find it. I'm just not good with searches. They said it was suppose to be really good for larger or full figured women and they said when you wear it you don't move at all. Of course I imagine if Oprah was wearing it, it probably cost a pretty penny.

Katie Bug
01-26-2006, 06:53 PM
Welcome to our group Vanessa! I hope your sports bra is great!

Eldubu, I know you can reach your goals! Good luck! :D

How is everyone? Things are going okay for me, but I need some new lunch ideas! I'm getting reaaaally tired of soup. Anyone have any ideas?

01-26-2006, 07:32 PM
I usually eat lean cuisines for lunch or a pack of reduced fat peanut butter crackers. Another idea would be a lean ham sandwich or a salad with FF dressing.

I don't know about you but it is hard to think of healthy foods to eat when your brain has been programmed to eat "whatever".

I know this has nothing to do with dieting but does anyone think it is wrong to let an 11 1/2 year old pierce her belly button????? I think I just started WWIII with my mom for letting my daughter do it. The stress mothers have to endure. I think I have bigger battles to pick with her than a ring no one will see unless she wears a swimsuit and that will be a while. Thanks for letting me vent. Hope everyone is doing well.

01-26-2006, 11:47 PM
I know this has nothing to do with dieting but does anyone think it is wrong to let an 11 1/2 year old pierce her belly button????? I think I just started WWIII with my mom for letting my daughter do it. WOW!! I'd be upset too I'm sure. Especially if my DD had been bugging me to get it done and I'd already said not yet. I don't know if that's the case here. In the "big picture" it's not so huge...but still...I'd be upset at my Mom too.

I'm starting to go a little crazy being house bound for going on 2 weeks now. My DD's aren't getting much better. Poor things. At least I get to go out to a scrapbook cropping party on Saturday!!

I am starting the feel the effect of AF's upcoming arrival - early next week. I've always had cravings and moodiness in the week prior. And I tend to gain about 3 pounds in "water weight"? Anyone else do that? Doing good so far though.

Erin - you are beautiful!! I really like haveing a face with your name now! Thanks for sharing. Your little fellow is adorable as well! Are you just doing the BL dvd for your workouts? Are you following the 6 week plan that is included? I prefer going to the gym when my kids are healthy, but really like this BL dvd!!! What I've been doing so far is alternating my WATP 3 mile one day with the Low Intensity Cardio & and Sculpt and Strengthen (I think that's what it's called?) on the next day. I think I'm going to stick with doing it every other day even when I go back to the gym.

BTW - who won the 2 seasons of The Biggest Loser?

Katie - you probably don't want to know what I eat for lunch. Very unconventional. Sometimes yogurt and Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal...sometimes a pita/chicken sandwich...sometimes just odds and ends like a cheese stick, a few crackers, a few almonds, and feew slices of lunch meat...weird!

Loretta - Love your goal list!!! I agree, moving is the key for me too!

Vanessa - our kids are similar ages. My oldest just turned 2 in November and my youngest was born April 11th. My hat is off to you going to school. My DH is in his last year of nursing school. It is HARD. He is a Med/Surg Tech right now. I cannot help you on the boob/bra issues. Unfortunatly not a problem for me.:( Mine stay a B-cup all through pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Catherine - I know what you mean about feeling bad. I haven't "fallen off the wagon" YET, but the other day I had a very low calorie day and decided to eat a big oatmeal raisin cookie. I PHYSICALLY felt sick afterwards. Like it did to you - if tore up my stomach. So we learn!!! Very cool about the Ty picture!!

Well, I hear Livi messing with the dvd player and I need to go resue my BL dvd before she trashes it...

Hi to everyone else!! I'm so happy to be here!

01-26-2006, 11:56 PM
Ok, put in a Elmo movie!!

Sarah - I was meaning to ask you when you started your weight loss "journey"? Also how long do you stay on the Precor? I love using it at the gym too - usually alternate the preset workouts for 30 minutes.

** Stacye **

:carrot: TGIF ~ HAPPY FRIDAY LADIES! :carrot:
No time for personals right now ... be back in a bit!

01-27-2006, 12:10 PM
I went to the gym yesterday, worked out for an hour on the epillitical machine. Then i walked for an hour with my friend. My butt hurts! heh, but it feels good too!

So last night I went to my WW meeting. I LOST 2.8 POUNDS! However, I'm not updating my ticker yet, because my ticker is based off my weight on my home scale, and I weigh at home on Monday mornings. That way I'm consistent.

Momto2 - I started my weight loss journey in January of 2005. However, I have to admit I haven't been as dedicated as I should. I would work out, and I would stick to my WW points about 4 days out of the week. Then I would eat whatever I wanted all weekend, and not exercise. For the past 2 weeks I have been exercising consistently, and watching what I eat consistently. Part of why I weight at home on Mondays now is to keep myself in control on the weekends.

After my visit to the dr. and the news about my blood pressure being so unreasonably high, I've also been watching my sodium intake. I used to eat a Lean Cuisine for lunch every day, but I didn't realize how much sodium they had in them. So now I'll just eat 1 or 2 a week, and I'll select the meals with less sodium.

Oh, I almost forgot your question about the elliptical! On my gym nights, I do kind of a circuit thing. For instance, last night I did 20 mins on the elliptical, 10 minutes on the bike, 3 minutes on the stair stepper, another 10 minutes on the bike, and then 12 minutes on the treadmill. I try to mix things up, vary the resistance and speed, that way my body has to keep guessing to keep up.

Everyone - have a great weekend. I'll post an inspirational quote for us to think about the weekend next.

Great quote, Sarah! Thanks for sharing! Congrats on the weight loss too. You must be doing everything right since the scale doesn't lie! I weigh in on Mondays also...that way I'm accountable for the weekends...which according to my history are the hardest 2 days of my week. Dont' know why...since I'm a SAHM they really are no different than other days of the week. Just habits.

Stacye - Your before/during pics are inspirational!! Fantastic!! Since you mention it in your sig, I hope you don't mind me asking, when are you going to ttc again?

OK, the following is a ME post. I dont' want to bring negative energy here, but here it is... I'm feeling impatient with my weight loss. I usually lose faster. Guess I'm getting older. And it's been a good 3 years since I've really been watching closely what I eat and trying to drop weight. I've always been a somewhat consistant exerciser (until the past year), but not been able to change eating habits. Geez, yesterday was only day 21 and I've lost 10 pounds. I know that's great in my head, but I have these memories of losing 20-25 pounds in a month that are getting me down. I've always packed the weight I've lost back on and I know slow or at least consistant is the best and I've lost on average 3 pounds each week so far. I know AF, due in a few days, is making these thoughts worse...I'm anticipating a low or no weight loss this week because of bloating. I WILL JUST KEEP PLUGGING AWAY. There is a quote that has helped me out these few weeks: Never trade what you want in the moment for what you want the most.

Have a good day, ladies!

Hello everyone! Well, yes, my butt hurts!:carrot: I did my new workout video yesterday which has a lot of squat/kicks! At least I know it works. I had a hard time with most of it, it was a dance routine, kind of! How do they do it on The BL video? I am getting back on track with my diet. My weight is holding right now. I hope to improve it this week. I went to a stress class for women today at work, they gave us chocolate and fruit. I only had one peice of chocolate. They did give us ways to help deal with stress and work through it. I am glad that they offer programs like this at work. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Good Morning everyone and congratulations on your weight loses!!!!!:cb:

I am ready to start over this morning. I'm still not feeling well so when I got up this morning I grabbed a little debbie snack cake to eat so I can take my meds. I started off on the wrong foot but the day will get better. I plan to eat a lot of oranges to fight off these virus'. I still haven't lost any more weight other than the 4 pounds last week but I also have not exercised in a week.

I am writing this trying to motivate myself to get back to it. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My head says go walk on the treadmill but my body says I'm not well enough. I start coughing and wheezing. :faint:

Has anyone else been using to track what they are eating and their activities? According to it I should be loosing. I have been burning 1000 calories more each day than I have been eating.

Catherine-Any good tips come from the stress class? I need all I can get. I am starting a new job where I work on Monday and the dept. has been working a lot of overtime so I guess I will be too.:stress:

Hope everyone has a super day.

01-28-2006, 08:56 AM
how everyone is doing good..I think I'm getting sick now too...Hope I can keep with my workouts...

Catherine - what is your new workout video that you did? It sounds interesting...

01-28-2006, 09:10 AM
Well I am still waiting on my scale to get here - I really want ot do an official weigh in to see where I am at. Anyway ... my husband is back in town :woo: and this time he noticed a change !!! So that is a good sign or he has learned to just say it (I hope the later is not the reason).

I did measure and my waist is down an inch over the last 10 days. So there is hope. :carrot:

Catherine - The routines on the biggest loser dvd are sets of exercise. I am still on 1 & 3 which are the options for the first 2 weeks (carido & Strength). I can get through the enrtire workout pretty easily though I start to really feel it at the end and afterwards. At the end of next week I move up to the other level so I will see how that goes.

Nori - I have been doing the BL though I just got a walk away the pounds I am going to try. Right now I am not doing a gym, but I am going to join the one down the street from me. However, I do know I get an awesome deal if I wait to April or May. I know I should do it now, but I have to wait due to finances.

Everyone - hope you are doing well - keep up the success we are finding together - Erin

Stacye - Your before/during pics are inspirational!! Fantastic!! Since you mention it in your sig, I hope you don't mind me asking, when are you going to ttc again?
Nori :: First of all ... Thank you so much for your supporting compliment - it meant so much!
I wish I had an answer to your question about ttc but to be honest, at this point I'm just not sure. In the beginning I said I wanted to start trying again when I've lost 90 lbs - but if that goal was reached today, I don't think I'd be ready ... emotionally. I've spent over 17 yrs trying/not preventing - and last year, after being dx'd with PCOS and one tiny small procedure, we immediately started fertility. After a confirmed 'false' positive in August - my heart, mind & soul simply needed a break as did my DH's. But it weren't all for nothing b/c this break has helped me to lose 65 lbs and now my ole body is FINALLY working the way she should (O'ing & regular cycles) ... without meds!

Jeepers... You didn't ask for the long version did ya!? LoL

Now, for YOU - I know it's easy to get discouraged but I wanted to tell you that you're doing an awesome job! I'm not sure what plan you're on or what plans you've been on in the past ... but maybe this loss is different and a tad slower b/c you're doing it the right way this time? As I said, you're doing great ... stay strong - you will accomplish your goal!
Just noticed that you're doing the BL dvd ... I am too, don't ya just love it!!?
btw - loved the quote!

 to everyone else ... You're all doing such a super-fabulous job :bravo: - you each keep the rest of us inspired!
I'm in a rush to get ready this morning - I'll be back in a bit to get caught up!

Later Losers! :D

01-28-2006, 04:55 PM
Wow, Staceye - you understand what it means to wait for something. I pray you are blessed with a healthy pregnancy and baby - when the time is right. Hopefully you getting healthy and starting to O and getting regular on your own will help and then life will cooperate with you.

And YES, I love the BL dvd. It's a great workout. I really see and feel a difference in my jeans this am when I got dressed!!!!! And I'm bloated from AF coming!!

Have a good weekend, all!

01-28-2006, 05:31 PM
I met with my trainer at the gym last night and he set up a circut of weights anc ardio for me to do. I am soooo feeling it today! Going grocery shopping today to get lots of healthy food and snacks!

01-28-2006, 07:43 PM
I've been so bad and I haven't even been back on my diet long. Anyway, I told myself thursday night before going to bed that when I woke up friday I was going to do exactly what I needed to so I could lose the weight and I did great yesterday. Today, however, although I've kept track of all my points for some reason no matter what I did I just felt so hungry so I had to dip into those extra points you get each week with WW. What I really need is to get to the store and buy lots of the zero point stuff and low point meals. I'm having to do with what we have right now and of course it's the higher point stuff. I've decided to just ignore my husband completely. No matter what he says I'm not gonna get discouraged and mess up. It's not that he's trying to be mean but he doesn't know how to be supportive and sometimes he can come across as being mean. Anyway, I probably wouldn't be able to do it if I had not found this sight.
I'm completely exhausted. I have 3 boys and none of them can make it through the night without waking up wining at least once a piece but usually it's twice a peace. That actually can take a tole on a person. It makes me feel like I really don't care what I eat or how I look. But I will do better. I don't really like how I look and it depresses me to look at pictures of me several years back. Anyway, if i can figure out how to post a picture, then I'll share my boys pic.

01-28-2006, 09:01 PM
 Evening all - well we went to the store today - J & E stayed int he car while I ran in;of course, now I am hearing it from my husband.

I bought veggies for the turkey soup I made today - it was yummy!!!. Fresh bread (whole wheat) & some sushi - my treat for the weekend. more veggies, some frozen entrees (Safeway has some premade meals like turkey lagasna and chicken enchilladas that are low cal & fat)some canned stuff and salsa to make with chicken / dinners this week.

Of course there is not much processed food, regular white bread, treats etc - I shop more for me since J is not home often and I figured it is the time to teach E at his 3 and 1/2 years how to eat well. I was also pretty proud of my self I bought enough for the week and only spent about $46 for a whole cart full of food. Well J is off to the store right now to get lunch meats, white bread & chips so he can make a sandwich and have a snack.

I am just irratated since I asked if he wanted anything and he said no. I guess he has not gotten use to my new ways.

I am going to try to talk to him later tonight or tomorrow when he is not upset that we went to the grocery store and he had to run out again. I do not think he was actually upset, but I think more it was the last thing he wanted to do when we spent a Sat evening at home.

Any way - Serena - you can see like you dealing wiht the spouse is an issue we al have to deal with. I sympathise with you. It is not the easiest thing and J is not even home all the time - his job takes him on the road about 50% of the time.

nmmy - goodjob on getting to the gym - hope your trainer gives you some get ideas and pointers.

Momto2 - I am glad you seeing a difference in the jeans - these are the things that keep us going. My wedding ring is moveable since I can not remember when so the "non scale" things mean a lot.

My late nigt reading is Winning by Losing - Jillian MIchaels (BL tainer) - she has some great thoughts on those in your life and how they fit inthe diet / change in your lifestyle - I can really use it after talking to some of my family yesterday.

Good luck everyone - keep going and take care - Erin :)

01-28-2006, 09:33 PM
Greetings chickies,
Wow you miss a couple of days and get miles behind in the posts thats awesome so many posts .
Well my goal for the week was 2 pounds I wanted to add another little dancer guy and I wanted to hit 197 and get into a new BMI and I did it :carrot: I did it :carrot: I did it.:carrot: :carrot:

I have noticed I have a real all or nothing attitude, Weds was a difficult day for me and I kept think "oh I had such a bad day " well it wasn't a bad day I went over on my food points but not way over and I used some flex points, and I only exercised 40 min on the elliptical. So why do I think it was a bad day, when I didn't overeat, I exercised and I had no sugar (day 31 no sugar).
Today when I weighed in a WW I had lost 2 and a bit pounds and my first thought was "is that all?". I need to be more aware of the big picture and not so hung up on the microscopic bits of it. So ladies the big picture is, in the last 4 weeks I have lost 16 lbs, exercised for and hour 21 days out of 28 and stayed away from refined sugar not bad at all. I need to not sweat the small stuff....just :tread:

01-29-2006, 01:47 PM
Everybody seems to being doing great. Thankfully, so am I. I've stayed within my points so far but i'm only on day 3. I still have a problem with the sugar thing. I use equal with my coffee and the few pieces of candy that I ate yesterday were sugar free but I think I would do so much better if I could cut it out all together. If I could just get rid of this sweet tooth of mine completely it would be so much easier. I know dieting is extremely hard for anyone, but I don't think it would be as difficult for me if it weren't for the fact that I don't like vegetables. My favorit foods are sweets, dairies and bread. I do not like vegetables at all. If your familier with WW then you know a lot of vegetabls have a 0 point value which is really good and works great if you actually like vegetables. I don't like salads at all. I think if I actually liked vegetables I would have something to fill the void when I'm feeling hungry. I know a lot of people say they keep celery sticks or carrot sticks around for snacking if they need them, but that doesn't work for me cause I just don't like them. I've learned to enjoy things like greens, squash and broccoli but only if their cooked certain ways, and I just don't enjoy cooking nore am I good at it so it all just seems like too much work to me and I really dis like myself for it cause my children are extremely picky. They don't like vegetables either and everyone blames me for it and I really don't wish to admit they may be right.

Anyway, I'm glad everyone else seems to be doing so well.

01-29-2006, 06:22 PM
So I had DH take those dreaded, oh-so-honest, full length pics this morning - front, side and back view.      :fr: :fr:   So the front wasn't a huge shock... I'm too freaked out to put them in my siggy until I have some "after" shots...maybe in 25 pounds or so! Anyways, it was good, all the drama aside. That is ME! At least I look happy!! I am happy. Happy to be getting healthy and firm. Happy that hopefully my girls will never have to be embarrassed to have the "fat mom".

So I'm taking the day off from exercising. My knees are a tad sore today and I know I over did it yesterday on the lunges. I started this journey 25 days ago and this will only be the second day I haven't worked out. Not too bad.

Serena - I'm not a huge fan of veggies. But I do have some I like. I love fruit, but of course none of that is "free".

Nighthawk - Congrats on getting to a new BMI!! DAY 31 WITH NO SUGAR!!!! That's HUGE!:carrot: :carrot: I've only managed about 2 days with no sugar in 25 days. I'm accountable for everything that passes these lips, so I'm very aware of what I eat and I still choose to allow a little sugar. I think I feel a little inspiration to strive for a new goal now. Thanks!

Erin - sorry about the DH issues. Change is hard. I bet he'll come around to having healthy foods in the house as you stick to your guns about it and he sees you changing. I do think it is so important to set good examples for our kiddos too. Luckily my DH is a health freak - not because he's so healthy - he actually has had typeII diabetes for about 6 years now - and he controls it very well with diet and exercise.

Keep up the good work, ladies! You're all an inspiration...I'm still blown away by "31 days without sugar!!!":dizzy:

Well, gotta go put someone down for a nap. It's been raining and snowing off and on all day - very dreary and cold. I might just take a nap too!

01-29-2006, 07:23 PM
That actually makes me a little sad. I would love to see snow. I keep trying to talk my husband into moving north. I told him it would actually probably help me lose weight cause I actually spend a lot of time at my mothers house and she buys lots of snacks and stuff for the grand kids and I'm the type of person that if it's there I just can't say no but when I go grocery shopping and I pass the cookie, candy and chip isle I can pass by with no problem. Unfortunately I haven't been able to convince him yet. He says maybe in another few years but my concern is, I want to move while the boys are still young and don't really have a lot of attachments yet. If we wait until their in school then it might actually be tougher on them to move away. Anyway, as far as the eating at my mothers, I know that is a personal problem that I really need to deal with. I just keep trying to tell myself I can do it, just think of the wat I'll feel in a few months if I can continue to do it. I actually have been doing it the last few days but today I broke down and had some sweets. I haven't used up all my extra points yet though so the week could still turn out to my advantage.

01-29-2006, 07:59 PM
From what I can tell, everyone seems to be doing really well! I did my whole workout video yesterday! Definately, feeling it today! I went roller skating today with my kids. I had a blast but still it gets a little crowded at time. I have not weighed in! I do not think I have lost any this week I had a few bad days, food wise! Well,I finally got my picture on here! Will attempt to put my kids picture at the bottom. Computer has been acting up!

Nighthawk that is wonderful that you lowered your BMI! And you ARE right! Don't sweat the small stuff! I need to remember that!

Ejb and Serena, I pray for you to have the strength. Just remember we are here for you and will give you as much support as we can. I am fortunate to have a husband, children, co-workers and some other friends who give me support. It is nice that my children who are 11 and 9 understand and give me support also!

Ejb, i went looking for the BL dvd, but could not find it, where did you get it at?

Dgpebbles, the workout that I am using is Denise Austin's Burn Fat Fast. It does a lot of dance moves and tries to keep it as a Dance Party ( cardio) The strength part of it is still a killer for me in some of the areas. But, I do like it!

Kmccann, I will send you some of the stress stuff later! I will scan some of the stress reducing ideas and get them on here, sometime this week!

For all those who weigh in tomorrow, happy pounds off!

01-29-2006, 08:17 PM
Just got back from a nice walk i took a break from the elliptical machine I get bored exercising inside but during the week it's too dark when I have free time so on it I go ;)

Serena : dont be so hard on yourself heres a little tip instead of saying "....But I am only on day 3" say "and I'm on day 3" pat yourself on the back for what you have acomplished. I fall into that trap too, but it's what got me to 213 pounds. On the vegie thing I used to be like you I ate carrots and peas and salad gradually my tastes changed and now I eat tons. Do you like spaghetti sauce? if you do grind up mild tasting vegies in the food processor and add them to your sauce I do that to fool kids into eating more vegies. good luck with the rest of the week You can do it :cheer:

Nori: Way to go on all the execise days do you crave it yet? I am still waiting for that I'm pretty happy about the no sugar thing I find that no sugar really helps me stay on track with the food. I confess the first couple of week where really hard specially coming of the whole christmas cookie gorge :dizzy:. I got through it with diet pop every time I had a sugar craving I had a diet pop(it was emarrassing how many cans I had when I took in the anyway the longer I go the easier it is and I've eased up on the pop too 1 maybe 2 a day not 5 or 6

Catherine: way to go on finishing the video I'm thinking I need to look into one to shake things up(and I'm not talking about my belly either ;) ) Rollerskating what fun I haven't roller skated since the '70's

Have a great week everyone!!

01-29-2006, 10:35 PM
Nori: Way to go on all the execise days do you crave it yet?
Maybe!! :carrot: I was going to lay down with my baby and take a nap and instead got up and did WATP and an ab workout! Convinced myself those things would not hurt my knees right now when they are being sensitive!! I'll try BL tomorrow and see how I do with all the lunges again.

Catherine - I got the BL dvd at Borders book store. I've heard it's at WalMart also. BTW, nice to see your happy face now! Nice pic!

01-30-2006, 12:36 PM

I can't believe it. Onederland, finally. I can't explain how good this feels. I never thought I'd say I'd happy to weigh 199 pounds, but it's a step in the journey. I feel like the hardest part of the journey is over.

Everyone, you are doing so well. Just coming here and reading and posting, you're telling yourself you are ready to make this change. Just keep telling yourself "I DESERVE THIS." Because you do. And you have people rooting for you.

Okay - I want to see a post from everyone today!!! Let's hear how the exercise is going! Let's hear how the healthy food choices are going! Let's hear about if you have a new favorite healthy recipe???? Post any of your questions or concerns? Someone on here may have the help you need!

CONGRATULATIONS SARAH! :cheer: That's wonderful! And now you're over halfway to your goal on your ticker! :D

I didn't weigh in this week (bloating, TOM, ugh) but I have lost 9 pounds in January even without this week's weigh in! I'm very proud of myself for working out and eating right during school, which is something I've struggled with for 3 years. I'm aiming to lose 6-8 pounds during February. I KNOW I can do this.

I'm going to agree with Sarah's post.. you ladies are such an inspiration! I truly look forward to seeing how everyone is doing. THANK YOU EVERYONE!

01-30-2006, 05:24 PM
Katie Bug - WAY TO GO! 9 pounds in one month is AMAZING. I know you can make your February goal, too!!! I see from your ticker that you just need 1 more pound to be over your halfway point! Keep up the great work!

01-30-2006, 05:45 PM
Hi Ladies

I hope this finds you all well. I've enjoyed reading all the posts, and seeing the pics of all of you !! Such beautiful ladies, and beautiful families.

I have been such a slacker lately, and I sincerely apologize :( but between work and home life's been a TAD BUSY !! This past weekend J and my Dad worked on our home we've been renovating, and my Mom was painting our kitchen cabinets. So on the renovation project ~things are starting to move along rather smoothly. :)

Denise Austin Blast Away the Pounds Indoor Walk is FANTASTIC !! :carrot: I did that and the stretch on it as well. Felt so good afterwards, and am looking forward to doing it again. You can customize her DVDs to your liking and needs. So I may be getting another one, and the BL. You Ladies have me convinced that for SURE is one DVD to have !! Feel the :flame: !!

For the month of January I lost a total of 19 lbs !! Which made me feel SO darn good !! :woo: IF only that could be the way it was for every month WOOHOO the weight would fall off !! :D

WOOHOO for all the wonderful Tips, Motivation, Support, Dieting & Exercise !! :carrot:

I do have something for you Ladies, a friend of mine made it especially for the Group ~ And feel free to right click and save it. IF you have Photobucket, you can host it there,or upload it somewhere !! I just hope you all like it !!

:cheer: KEEP IT UP LADIES !!! :cheer:

01-30-2006, 06:14 PM
Sarah - Congratulations on ONEDERLAND!!!!!:cp: :cp: :high: :high: I cannot wait for that day again. It's been over 5 years.

Katie - 9 pounds is fantastic! :high: You Feb goal is totally possible!

Elizabeth - Hi there! Nice to see you again. The Valentine pic of Sam in your siggy is so cute and adorable and the blinkie is great! Hey, don't apoligize for having a life! 19 pounds is such a great weight loss to kick off your new year! When is your cruise again? I think I remember that was your reward? Where in Alabama do you live? My DH is from Selma. A sort of rough, poor neighborhood. Left as soon as he graduated from high school and never looked back. I've been there a few times to visit. I cannot stand the bugs in the summer. Or the wet heat. I grew up and still live in the desert! I like going at Christmas time the best.

I think I may be able to go back to the gym tomorrow!:carrot: It's been 2 weeks today since the girls got sick and I think tomorrow there will be no signs of it anymore! Both still have a tad of a nighttime cough. It's actually been great working out to dvd's though. I wasn't looking forward to it at first and now I actually like it. I love the gym environment, and will do that, but will probably come home and do the toning/strengthing from a dvd. (OK, I'm embarrased to do abs at the gym...:o ) I started AF today and I went ahead and weighed in. Not a good as expected given my calories in vs. calories out on But I expected that given the bloating. Anyone else lose their appetite when AF comes? I do. Like I don't even want to be around food. Not make dinner or anything. But I will.

Happy Mondays Ladies!! It'll be a great week. Full of good food choices. And exercise. Getting stronger and leaner!

01-30-2006, 06:46 PM
Here's a real yummy recipe I've made a few times this month.

Apricot Garlic Rosemary Chicken

24 oz (4-6 breasts, depending on size) skinless, boneless chicken breasts
5 cloves garlic (pressed or chopped very fine)
1 tsp. dried crushed rosemary
1 tbsp. olive oil
1/2-1 tsp. salt ( I thought 1 tsp was too salty)
1/2 tsp. pepper
4 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 cup apricot jam ( I actually like apricot-pineapple jam - same calories)
2 tsp. Dijon mustard

Cut the chicken breasts into cutlets - or leave them whole if you prefer. In a large bowl marinate chicken in the garlic, rosemary, oil, salt, pepper & 2 Tablespoons of the lemon juice for 2 hours, stirring meat a few times. Bake on a cookie sheet covered in aluminum foil at 400 degree for 20 minutes.

In a small bowl, mix preserves, mustard & the remaining 2T of lemon juice. Remove chicken from oven & evenly spread the jam mixture on each piece. Bake for an additional 10 minutes or until meat is no longer pink in middle. Put under broiler for a couple of minutes to get it nice and brown on top. Pour any juices in the pan over the chicken. May be served hot or cold (makes a great potluck dish).

You could lower the calories by omiting olive oil and using sugar free preserves.

PER 4-oz serving:

Total Fat 6g Saturated Fat 1g 11%
Cholesterol 93mg 31%
Sodium 109mg 5%

Mmmm, Nori, that sounds divine! I'll have to try it.

01-30-2006, 07:35 PM
Katie - I just remembered that I had changed the recipe a tad - so in case you printed it or something - just notice that changed. It originally called for 1t salt and I thought it was too salty, so I changed it to 1/2t and it was fine. Also I put some of lemon juice in the marinade. It originally only had it in the sauce.

I actually just went up and mixed it up for dinner. So, I didn't feel like it--but I did it!

It is awesome to see everyone doing so well. I am little disappointed my new scale is not here yet, I tried the old fashioned one and it says 275. I see it as a lost, but am going to wait to I get the new scale to confirm everything.

I have not done well on the exercise - it seems harder to find time when J is home. I think I am going to try the blast away the pounds I have tomorrow - if nothing else I will get on the ellipitical in the morning - this week I will hit 30 mins minimum at least 4 times this week.

Today was another good healthly dinner. Some spinach salad, beef ternderlion (very lean and good portion control), plus some baked eggplant with tomato, mushroom and a bit of cheese. I thought is was yummy and still had some calories left over so hit my 1300 min for the day. Can you guys hear Jin the background say he is looking for food!!

Catherine - I originally got the BL from Netflix to try - you can get copies at Walmart and Target (I think I got mine at Target).

Nori - I am glad everyone is feeling better - good job finding out what you are comfortable and getting it all done!

Sarah - great news on onederland - WTG!!

Katie - 9 pounds is awesome any loss is a good loss.

Take care ladies - good night - Erin

Hey everyone..well I weighted in today and I'm only down 1lb but I went and bought another pair of pants for work and got it one size smaller and they are even loose on me so I'm feeling good ...

Catherine - thanks for the video tip...I ordered it online..I do like her workouts....I've been doing the biggest loser dvd but it's getting kinda boring..I need to add some mix to it

Sarah - great job...onderland is awesome..I'm so happy for you..

Katie - 9lbs in a month is geat..thats a little more than 2 per week which is good

I've been buying low carb pita bread lately and stuffing it with veggies, chicken, tuna etc..I really like it..

01-30-2006, 10:54 PM
I'll have to try the lc pita's. I've been eating the lc tortillas and enjoying them.

01-31-2006, 12:21 PM
Momto2 - Thanks for the recipe! I'll definitely have to try that. Don't you love being able to work out at home with embarrassing things like abs? LOL-I don't do weight lifting or abs at the gym. I hope to one day, but for now I'm not ready. I do the weights and abs at home.

EJB - did you cook the eggplant? If so, how? It sure sounds yummy!

Everyone keep up the good work! We can do this!!!!!!! Even better news than my weight loss, my blood pressure is coming down. I still need to get it down more so I don't have to go on medication.

01-31-2006, 02:56 PM
Hi everyone, glad everyone is doing well. So far so good for me too. I've lost 4 pounds since last week. I've been doing much better with my elipitical as well. I've also been doing much better at blocking out the negativity. Or atleast what I perceive as negative. Anyway, keep up the good work everyone cause yall are the only ones that seem to be helping me get through this. (

01-31-2006, 06:53 PM
It does help to check in here, Serena! You realize you're not alone at all. You are doing great!

Erin - I know what you mean about finding time to exercise when DH is home. How long does he stay at home and away on average? Hey, hope you get your scale soon. I'd say that's a BIG loss! Eggplant is one of those veggies I don't know how to cook. I grew some in the garden this year and didn't use them.:^: I ordered them in a Thai dish once and like it - but I've never attempted to make Thai at home.

We only have 1 tv (per me!!) in the house and I'm starting to re-think that right now. My DH is a tv junkie and if he's home it's on...which means it's harder for me to workout. He'll let me do it - but I don't like to, because then he sits and watches me work out and then he wants a different kind of workout after that.:dunno:

WHY DO YOU ONLY SEE SKINNY/FIT PEOPLE DOING 100'S OF ABS AT THE GYM????:p Anyways, I made a exercise ticker for February and cannot wait to get going on month 2!!!

Have a good evening ladies! It is evenign for most of you I think. Am I the only West Coaster? Go Seahawks!!;)

02-01-2006, 11:16 AM
Hi guys,

I realized it's been forever since I last posted.

I've joined WW. So far I've lost 4.1 pounds.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Take care.

02-01-2006, 11:54 AM

Marinemommy - congrats on the weight loss and the blood know your doing great when your health improves..keep it up..

Lisa - welcome back and way to go on your 4lbs..

02-01-2006, 02:04 PM
Welcome all. I'm adding the carrot again just cause it makes me laugh. :carrot:

My personal diet journey is having issues. I'd rather sandpaper the rear of an alligator in a phonebooth than eat one more Salad:p B also busted me on a stash of chocolate that I had found. It was so pathetic. It had to have been 6 months old, but old fat boy sure chugged it down. I'm trying but man it's hard. Pray for me and hope that we both hang in there

WOO-HOO...I got to get back into the gym this morning!!!:hyper: I did the BL low-intensity cardio and only got that far into it before the girls woke up. They are finally better, so I just got them dressed and went to the gym. What a difference 2.5 weeks makes on how crowded the gym was - after 1/1 there were lots of people who were only there for their NW resolutions!! They are gone. I mean, too bad for them, but now it's not a race for an empty machine!! Did 30 min on elliptical and 20 on treadmill at 4mph & 5% incline. I'm stronger already from all the dvd's I've don eat home recently. I could really tell since I hadn't been on those machines for weeks.

So I joined the February points challenge over in the 100-pound club. FEBRUARY Points Challenge ( = link if you are interested in joining. You get 2 points a day for sticking to food plan, and 1 each for water and exercise. I think it will help me kick this refined sugar thing I have. So far so good today. I wasn't ever pigging out on :m: :cookie: :chockiss: ... just 50 or so calories a day. But I want to kick it real good this month. DH BETTER NOT buy me chocolate for V-day. I better tell him that just in case!:D

J - I have to sometimes skip salad for a couple days. Just get tired of it. I do enjoy it usually. I'm a dressing freak - so have to have a good low cal dressing or I cannot do it! I have to enjoy what I'm eating, or I'll just go look for something else. Hang in there. It's so nice that you have eachother to help the other out! She WAS just "helping" you, you know??:D

Good job, Lisa! That's fantastic!

Donna - what dvd's did you order? Glad you get a day off!

Hi everyone else! Hope you're having a healthy day!

02-01-2006, 06:10 PM
Well, it sounds like everyone has been doing well this week! :carrot: SALAD! Well, sometimes it does start to taste like grass. :p I just put my Rasp. vinegrette on it and eat away anyways.

I would love to go to the gym and workout!:ebike: I have a free pass at the gym here on the University campus! It is a benefit! But how would you all feel working out next to all those very fit college students? They stand there and look at you like you are pitiful while they are waiting for a machine. Sometimes it kind of makes me sick. I do not have anyone to go with me so that is kind of a bummer! So I just workout at home.:strong: That is going ok so far. Well, I am going to go!

Where is everyone else? It seems we are missing a few! Hope everyone is Ok!;)

02-01-2006, 06:18 PM
Hey everyone, thanks for all your support with my weird weight gain last week. Unfortunately, those ounces that I put on set me on a binge because I was mad at myself for thinking I didn't try hard enough, so from last Tuesday to yesterday night, I was a human cow. I didn't even excersize :( and I used to do a mile minimum every single day. I'm back on track today, though, but I don't think I will be able to reach my Valentines Day goal :( but I am going to try. Maybe I should get rid of this diet dr. pepper and drink some water instead! I hope that all of you guys out there are doing much better than me over here in the fabulous oc, jk, it's not all that great. I will try and get a pic on here for all of you, but I am not feeling like putting a picture of myself on here when I am feeling like a moose, so maybe some other time. ;)

ttyl later girls!
love, jen

02-02-2006, 10:37 AM
Hi guys,

I'm so glad this week is almost over. I'm so ready for the weekend!!

I hope everyone is doing well and don't let anything get you down. Even even you gain some weight or eat too much one day, just start again the next day!! I've had alot of ups and downs, believe me, but I think that the most important part is sticking to it!!! :carrot: (I love this little carrot guy, too!!).

Hang in there. Together we can do it!! (Oh man, I just sounded like that weird ponytailed guy on the treadmill thing - Tony Little!!). LOL!

Take care.

02-02-2006, 12:17 PM
Hi ladies. I started WW flex points (on my own) just a few days after your thread started. I was posting on another thread but it seems to have dwindled to just a few of us and I've asked the others to join this thread as well. There's strength in numbers!

I'm 38, married with DS 11, DD 9. I work full time and don't have many hobbies that don't involve food or relaxing :o My goal is to lose about 50 lbs by August when we go to Ireland to visit DH family. I would also love to visit Italy sometime soon and want to do it thin!

DH is doing the diet with me so that's a big help. I really love the accountability of posting my menus here and receiving and giving support

I'll try to read some of the old posts to familiarize myself with each of you. My goal this month is to start some type of exercise. I have a pilates machine which helps my back/hip problem (when I use it) but I think I need some cardio type activity to give me more energy and burn fat. Any ideas? I don't want to go to a gym particularly as I already spend too many hours away from home.

Wed Menu: B: cereal w/ blueberries, L: Lean Cuisine & a few shrimp cocktail S: rice cake D: spaghetti & 2 pieces of italian bread (thin cut).
Points: 24 Water: 48 oz. Vitamins: none Exercise: none

I'll write again later this afternoon after I get a chance to read the posts from the last week or so.

02-02-2006, 12:40 PM
Hi Maureen - for cardio work, I love The Firm and Leslie Sansone's Walk Away The Pounds. : ) WELCOME TO OUR GROUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

02-02-2006, 07:55 PM
Welcome Maureen! I second the Walk Away The Pounds dvd for cardio. There are many different levels of intensity in her dvd' just look around for what you'd like. None of them are complicated though! It's so nice your DH is doing this with you. BTW - How lovely that you have a trip to Ireland planned! You can easily get to your goal by then! I have a dream of going to Italy also. And not stand out as a fat American.

OK, I'm officially addicted to exercise now. While my girls were sick I was doing dvd's at home and I've continued that...inaddition to getting back into the gym now! So I think I should up my February exercise goal ticker. We'll see. I don't know if I can keep this intensity up. But for now it's fun!

Hope everyone is doing well! Almost Superbowl weekend--I know I'll have some food challenges then.

02-03-2006, 09:56 AM
Hello ladies, thanks for the welcome. :)

B: cereal w/blueberries, tea
L: Lean Cuisine, grapes, clementine
D: turkey sandwich
S: dry cheerios
Points: 22 Water: 48 oz., Vitamins: No Exercise: 15 min DDR w/ kids

Nori: that chicken recipe looks great, thanks for posting, your exercise will hopefully inspire me to get moving this week.
Sarah: Congrats on making it to Onederland!!:goodscale I hope to join you by the end of March!
Katie: Wow 9 lbs. is super!!
Ashley: I sympathize with your renovations, I just went through the same thing last year. We actually bought a camper for the backyard to live in through the winter. I coudn't wait to sell it when the house was done! I'm thinking about buying Blast Away the Pounds.
ejb180: What is BL? I see that listed and assume it's a DVD????
Donna: congrats on the smaller pants, way to go with the exercise
Serena: congrats on the 4 lbs.
Hellykittyfan: I'm doing WW on my own and don't have all the info, I may have some questions for you!
downonthefarm: hang tough, I found that after 2 1/2 weeks it's getting easier, each day is a new start for all of us.
jamamom & jen1121 hello! Jen: we're very close in statistics, maybe you should make yourself a new goal for February, there's nothing wrong with modifying your goals, just make it feasible from today, it's too hard and discouraging to try to catch up on an old goal. It's the longrun that matters.

Sorry for the super long post but I wanted to say hi to everyone. I only read back the last two pages so I hope I didn't miss anyone. I look forward to learning from and supporting each other. I post my weight on Mondays, here's to a good weekend! :hat:

02-03-2006, 10:04 AM
Morning everyone
I'm doing great this month...I'm eating really good and for the first 2 days of Feb I've done 120 minutes of exercise and so far today I've done 30 min...I've also started adding in crunches this week also.

Hope everyone is doing at you all after work

02-03-2006, 12:01 PM
MoNew - BL is the Biggest Loser exercise dvd. : )

02-03-2006, 01:17 PM
HI everyone, sounds like we're all doing great. I went back on WW full force last friday and I've already lost 7 pounds. Yippy for me. :carrot: :cb: Anyway, I know it was just the first week and not likely to get extreme results like that in the future but I was actually surprised at that much. Well, I've noticed everyone has goals that they try to meet but as for me, I just have an ultimate goal and that's to weigh about 135 Hopefully this year. I think it's great that you all make goals to meet along the way but I'm the type of person that if I don't meet my goal then I get extremely discouraged and start scarfing food down so I'm just gonna stick with the main goal and hope it doesn't take all year to get there. I think if I stick with it the way I have been this week that I'll be there by August or September. Just in time for those weight gaining holidays.:dizzy: :fr:  :turkey: :hohoho: :newyear:
Anyway, maybe if I stick with it that long then the holidays won't be as difficult for me as in the past. (

02-03-2006, 03:09 PM
I'll try to get to the store this weekend and pick up either BL or WATP. There seems to be a lot of WATP DVD's anyone have a recommendation for which one I should buy? Should I be ambitous and buy the one that has all 3 workouts! :chin:

Did anyone read the message when you first get on the site? They're putting the website onto a new server sometime after midnight so the site might disappear for anywhere from a few hours to a day or two depending on how often your internet provider refreshes....something like that? I love this site, hopefully it won't be long.

02-03-2006, 03:10 PM
Serena: Congrats on the 7 lbs!!!!!

02-03-2006, 04:12 PM
Maureen - I only have the WATP 3 mile express. It's great - First 2 miles are many different steps, kicks, knee lifts...and in the 3rd mile you continue wlaking fast while adding in a stretchy band for resistance training. I'm thinking to get the WATP for abs and maybe the WATP 2 mile Walk&Jog. The BL is more intense. I've had to back down on the lunges for a bit. They just irritate my knees, no matter how careful I am to keep my knees over my ankles. I can do them a cople times a week and be ok. BL has a good 20 minute weight/toning session.

Hopefully the site will not be down for long.

Serena - that's great loss!! As far as goals, we all do what works for us!! It just seems more attainable when I have smaller goals. It's not any different. I know that. Heck, I haven't met any of my goals yet...except for sticking to plan. We'll get there. I'm scared to set my Onderland goal for July because I think that's pushing it. My birthday in July 15th and I'd love to be under 200.
3 DAYS WITH NO REFINED SUGAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Donna - way to go on your workouts!!! I'm also kickin' it up this month.

Happy Friday everyone. Keep up the good work.

02-03-2006, 04:57 PM
Hello All~

I would love to join the group here if that's alright? I could use all the support I can get. :)

I'm Danielle, 36 and married. I'm a SAHM of 3-ds13,dd11,dd9. I started my journey at the beginning of this year but only got real serious about it 2 weeks ago. When I wasn't losing I had to step back and assess(sp?) what it is I really wanted. Was I going to really do this and be fit and healthy by the end of the year, or was I going to mess around and come Xmas time wish that I had done the work and be heavier than before? I decided that I wanted the first option.
I've lost about 9 pounds so far and have been doing really well with exercise.
I do the Biggest Loser DVD and absolutely love it. On top of that I also ride my bike 6x a week. I have always claimed I hated exercise, but for some reason I am so loving it this time! Go figure!

Anyways, enough about me. I look forward to getting to know all you girls here. I think this is what I need, some laughs, friendship, and some support!

Have a great weekend all!

Katie Bug

WELCOME DANIELLE! I'm sure you'll find plenty of support here. I know you can reach your goal!! :D Support really does make a difference, I think.

School has been extremely stressful this week.. and unfortunately I ate a LOT of junk food. I had almost zero time to work out unless I wanted to stay up until the wee hours of the morning finishing my work. I still think I managed to lose some weight.. maybe it was just water weight since last week was TOM. Tomorrow's weigh in will tell! Hopefully, next week will be a lot better and I will remain faithful to my exercise plan.

I'm gonna work on getting my pictures up on here.. Maybe I'll do it while I'm waiting for the site to be back up!

Hope everyone's well!

Oh yeah.. WELCOME to all the other newbies!

02-03-2006, 07:33 PM
:welcome2: to all of the newbies!!! Well, I hope everyone is doing well! I just made some awesome grilled veggies on my George Foreman! I used the new Mrs. Dash 10 minute marinade. LEMON HERB PEPPERCORN! I marinaded green peppers, squash, zucchini and portebello mushrooms. They were great! I did not like the chicken in it but oh well. :chin: I have been trying new marinades. To add some flavor. Have not tried the ones in the Foreman cookbook yet, though. Does anybody have any good marinades for poultry and veggies?

Well, I have decided that I like to do squat/kicks a lot! I do them everyday if I do nothing else! I have kept up with my crunches too!

Katie, you can get away from the junk food! I know you can!

Desertdreamer,:ebike:Way to Go Girl!

Nori, At least you are doing the lunges! :dancer:

Serena, Great job!;) Hope we can all say that we have lost that soon!

Djpebbles CRUNCHES, CRUNCHES, CRUNCHES !!!:carrot:

Maureen , where in New England are you from? I grew up in CT.

Well, I am sure I missed a few people! Hope everyone is well and keep up the good work!

02-04-2006, 12:42 AM
Good evening ladies:

I went to Target right after work and bought Blast Away the Pounds with Denise Austin. I did the first mile and DD did the first two miles. The DVD was pretty good but doing it with DD was a bit of a challenge not to mention the dog that kept getting in my way. :tantrum:

Have a great weekend. Boy I started this post hours ago and just remembered before bed that I never hit submit! We're not into football so Sunday shouldn't be too bad. Everyone watch their football snacks!

02-04-2006, 12:43 AM

I grew up in East Haven CT but now I live in Guilford CT. What town did you grow up in?

02-05-2006, 12:57 PM
Hey eveyrone and welcome to all the new ones. I have been doing very well and I think I am on track with the exercise. I got the full 30 minutes in yesterday and have have been getting up early during the week to get it in during the end of the week so I hope I can keep it.

I got the scale and it seems the old one was a bit off about 7 pounds so I am not too disappointed.

Calories have been in control and I got the George Foreman grill today to help with some quick meals.

I also gave up all sodas (even diet) a big weakness I know it effects me negatively and I was spending way too much money on sodas. If it is not water I am drinking iced tea, coffee (trying to get on all decaf with equal only) or low fat milk (limit to 1 cup a day).

So my goals for Feb is to get down to 275. A minimum of 800 minutes of exercise and keep going on the no soda kick.

Hope eveyrone has done well - take care.

02-05-2006, 02:34 PM
Hello ladies:

Well, we're back up and running on the new server! I have a turkey in the oven and it smells great! Now if I can just eat it without gravy :(

Have a great day. I did 15 minutes of Dance Dance Revolution this morning and hopefully will get a walk in this afternoon. Now to start on my water

Sat menu: B: cereal L: chicken w/ peppers a few ziti and 1/2 piece of bread (Pasta Fair) D: 1 small slice of pizza S: angel food cake w/ strawberries and SF whip cream. Points: 24

Exercise: none but a lot of walking in IKEA (hate the store but DD wanted to go for her good report card). Water: not great Vitamins: no

Erin: I'm not big on soda, but I know it's a hard habait to break....great job!

My weigh in is tomorrow! :crossed:

02-05-2006, 03:05 PM
Hello everyone! Well, I definately got my workout yesterday! I rollerskated for two hours yesterday! :cb: I even did the Funky Chicken, YMCA, and Laffy Taffy on skates. That all added a few extra movements to what I was doing. My balance is getting a lot better. I skated approx. 10 miles!!!! Yoo-hoo!:carrot: By a chart that I found, I burned approx. 1000 calories. ( that is 8.8 calories per minute for a 180 pound person skating moderately, I did speed up going around there quite a few times though ) This site gives an approx. cal. loss for different activities.

I have found out that I can get a personal trainer at the gym here on thr university! :wl: I do not have to pay for the use of the facility. Just the trainer. It is actually quite reasonable, too! I just have to get my doctors permission. Which I know I will be able to get. I went to check out a Curves here in town and they had nothing there! It looked kind of depressing. I have my diet down. I would just like some more help with the exercise!

Erin, Soda can be the  but you can do it! I broke down after 3 weeks, yesterday and had one. It was not as good as it used to be! I used to drink them all day long! The first few days will be hard but after that you can and will make it!!! I am proud to say I have had 64 ounces of water so far today!

Maureen, Best of wishes on your weigh in tomorrow!:goodscale I grew up in Bridgeport and then in Naugatuck during middle and high school. I have family and friends all over the state. The majority of them in the Fairfield area. That is the ones that have not moved away or died unfortunatley. I have not been there since 1992.

Well, I am going to have :jeno: later, but it is a South beach diet one with chicken, spinach and garlic on a whole wheat crust. MMMMMM!

Talk to all of you later!!!!:twirly:

Yay! I can finally post again! I was sooo excited when I weighed in Saturday - 170!!! Down 3 pounds from two weeks ago.. I remember six years ago weighing 170.. so I'm going into uncharted territory!

Later this week, I'm going to be out of town for three days and I have to eat fast food for 2 out of the 3 meals.. The only meal I can make myself is breakfast because I will have a microwave and instant oatmeal :D I'm worried that I'm going to pick something that looks healthy, but really has like tons of calories. Any tips?

Catherine - Wow! That sounds like an excellent workout you had!

Maureen - DDR is my favorite form of exercise. I think it's really fun!

Erin - It sounds like you have a great plan. I know you can do it!

02-05-2006, 04:09 PM
hey guys... does anyone know the nutrition facts for ezekiel cinnamon raisin bread? i threw away the package and i cant find it anywhere on the internet.. Help!!

02-05-2006, 05:36 PM
Hi all!

Erin - Way to go on giving up sodas.:high: I haven't been able to do that yet. Once I get this NO sugar thing down, that will be my next step! I don't drink lots if it - but I know it's just totally empty stuff. What kind of scale did you get?

Katie - Congrats on 170!!! Must feel great!! Do you have Wendy's where you'll be? I really like their chili - it's yummy and balanced: small = 220 calories/6g fat and large = 330 calories/9g fat. I usually do not like fast food salads. The lettuce tastes funny to me.

Catherine - You go!! That's such a good workout!!:carrot:

Maureen - I weigh in on Mondays too - keeps me accountable for my weekends, which is where I usually have had the most problems.

I have been "refined sugar" free for 5 days now!!!:carrot:

Take care everyone! BBL...

02-05-2006, 05:42 PM
hey guys... does anyone know the nutrition facts for ezekiel cinnamon raisin bread? i threw away the package and i cant find it anywhere on the internet.. Help!! - This kind? If so it's: 1 slice, 80 Calories, 0g Fat, 0g Saturated Fat, 0mg Cholesterol, 65mg Sodium, 18g Total Carbohydrate, 2g Dietary Fiber, 5g Sugars, 3g Protein

Looks yummy!!!!!

02-05-2006, 05:52 PM - Interesting thread on sugar. I know I'm feeling better after a few days totally off of it.

02-05-2006, 06:14 PM
thanks so much Sweet Pea!!! this bread is so good, and it doesnt have flour in it... weird huh?

02-05-2006, 08:37 PM
Hey everyone.
I messed up. When I go grocery shopping I'm not even tempted to buy junk food but if it's in front of me I can't say no. My husband went shopping today and bought brownie mix made it as soon as he got home. Of course I ate 2 pieces. They were small pieces but still not small enough and he was like "I bought it cause I thought you had learned to control yourself" Anyway, I haven't had time to get on the eliptical today so of course I'm feeling twice as bad about eating it. Oh well, I still have time to get on track.

02-05-2006, 10:47 PM
OK, that's cruel that he said he did it for that reason. Sure we all need to learn - but a little help is great. We are all going to eat brownies again. Probably. 2 isn't all that bad to be honest! Move on.

P.S. Does your DH want you to be healthy and lose weight? Sometimes spouses resists it for various reasons.

02-06-2006, 07:40 AM
serena - sorry about the hubby. ALl I can say is talk to him. I told my dh I was sick of the rabbit food jokes. He looked at me said sorry, but I was doing well (one of the few positive comments he has made during my journey).

Not many in my family are supportive, but I figured it is a life change for everyone and it will come when they are comfortable. Remember you are doing well, keep going!!

02-06-2006, 10:46 AM
Hello everyone, well we weighed in today and I lost 2 lbs and DH lost 3. :carrot: He's much better at drinking his water than I am, I'll try harder this week. I'll try to be more consistent with some exercise also.

Sunday menu: B: cereal L: none because I was shopping :o D: turkey w/ FF gravy & mash potatoes, cranberry S: angelfood cake w/ strawberries
Points: 20 Water: not much Exercise: 15 min. DDR Vitamins: no

Serena, sorry about DH comment, it sounds like a comment of someone who's jealous

Katie Bug: congrats on the 3 lb loss!! :cheer: Good luck on eating out this week. One of my sisters is having pizza and cake for her son's birthday Tuesday night, I'm trying to decide whether to have 1 slice of each and count the points or whether to bring a 6" subway sub and try to pass on the cake. I don't know how my willpower will be. If it's homemade cake I'll probably cave in, it's its store bought I can maybe say no :?:

Catherine way to go on the rollerskating! I never was very good at it although I bought a skecher pair on eBay not long ago thinking I would try it again...hasn't happened yet. I'm only about 30 minutes from Bridgeport! I used a light balsamic vinagrette to marinate my veggies for a wrap. I'm having them again this week, I can't wait!

I cleaned all candy out of my panty yesterday and am putting it in the candy dish in the conference room. I think I'll make a list of all the projects that need to be done in the house and try to tackle one each night. This will hopefully get me moving and keep my mind off food a little bit ;)

Does anyone know how to sew? I bought a duvet for my bed and bought an extra one to try and make curtains out of. I have extremely limited sewing skills and had to have someone thread the bobbin when I sewed something years ago. I wanted any suggestions before I take a scissor to the new duvey

Have a great day everyone :coffee:

The new avatar is from my last visit to Ireland when I had lost weight on Atkins almost 3 years ago, it's my goal to get back to that weight by the time we go back to Ireland this summer. :crossed:

Hi everyone,

Well I weighed in this weekend and I'm down another 2 pounds, which brings my total weight loss to 6.1 pounds (and counting).

I'm trying real hard to keep track of my points and write everything down, still gets hard sometimes and I want to eat so much candy, but I don't!!

Hope all are doing well. Take care.

I am stuck at 199. It's kind of discouraging. Anyone have any ideas to help blast me to 195? My goal was 197 by Valentines Day, and 194 by the end of the month. I'm a slow loser. Any suggestions are welcome! What works for you?

02-06-2006, 05:44 PM
Ok, I jsut started to post and now I hear baby awake. Gotta go get her.

Real quick, Maureen. Did they have sheet sets in the same material/matching material that your new duvet covers came in? Sheets would be ALOT easier to turn into curtains. What kind of top do you want - pocket, button, tab? If you used a sheet and just wanted a normal simple rod pocket curtain all you'd have to do turn over the top hem to fit the width of your rod and then hem it to the length you wanted. Maybe DIY (do it yourself) has info for making them.

I'll bbl...

Hi guys,

Marine - I know what you mean about being stuck. I was there for about 3 months with working out and for some reason the weight wasn't going anywhere. I would suggest switching your exercise routine - maybe try to work out more or something like that. Also, try to write down exactly what you're eating. It helps me alot because that why I'm accountable and if I mess up, then I know exactly what I did wrong. Good luck!!!!

Hello everyone! Well, I did it I lost two more pounds. That little bit sounds so little but then again it is a big step in the right direction!!!

Sarah, you CAN and WILL make your goal for Valentine's day! I have confidence in you! Do you live down on the bay? In military country as I call it or somewhere else in Va?

Nori, You sound like you sew! Would like to come visit me and help me out, too! LOL

Lisa and Maureen, LOTS of Luck and WILLPOWER to lose two pounds again next week! Great job! We can do it!!!!!!

Erin, Great job sticking up for yourself!!!!

I hope everyone else out there is doing well! Elizabeth, where are you ? LOL
Talk to all of you later,

Sarah - I think you just have to stick with it. AND I wouldn't exactly call you a SLOW LOSER!!! You've lost quite quickly actually and sometimes I think that includes water weight. Our bodies have to reset. The only thing I'd suggest is kicking up the exercise - or changing exercise routines. Don't eat too little. I've heard people actually say if they up theri calories for a couple days and then drop back down it kicks in again. Last time I lost weight I remember I'd sometimes go for a week without a change on the scale and then the next week lose 5-6. It was like I lost in chunks. I think hormones/water play a big part.

BTW Sarah - I posted a ? to you on the exercise forum after your post about Juggly Free Abs dvd. Did you get it as part of the whole Firm set? It's unavailable to individual sale until afte April 6th. I went ahead and pre-ordered it from Amazon. DH wants to do it too.

Catherine - congrats on 2 more pounds! Have you been skating again?

I've been pretty consistant so far with weight loss. This is the first time I haven't seen a HUGE drop the first couple weeks. I've lost 14 pounds since January 5th and it's been pretty even - 2-3 pounds each week.

Hi Everyone,
I've been MIA yet again But I have been sticking to my food and exercise plan. and at my Sat weigh in I was down another 2 pounds which put my Jan total loss at 19 lbs so I am pretty happy about that. I also increased the tension on my elliptical machine Yikes I felt like I was back at square one. It was a lot harder to get my mileage up But I have gone from having to talk myself into exercise to just assuming that I am going to do it ...huge deal for me. Yesterday was fantastic weather so I traded an hour on the elliptical for an hour and forty minute walk in the sunshine.

Everyone have a super Monday!!

Got the workout in this morning and I ma planning out our meals today. I love days when I need to add things since I am below 1000 calories; my min for a daily intake is 1400 right now.

nighthawk - wtg on the 19 lost for Jan!!

02-07-2006, 09:16 AM
Hi girls. I'm so glad to see everyone is doing so good.

Lori: congrats on the 19 lbs for January that's a super huge loss!!
Lisa & Catherine: congrats on the 2 lbs, let's see if we can do 2 every week, wouldn't that be great! The #2 sounds little, but the word pound is so heavy! We should all have a model of a pound of fat so we realize how much it really is.
Momto2: hang in there, you lost a lot quickly, give us a chance to catch up! You'll drop again soon, maybe increase water? I didn't see any sheets available, I'll double check that would be a lot easier, thanks.
Marine: you still have time to meet your goals, you're doing great, you all really inspire me so much...I can't say thanks enough.

Monday: cereal, Lean Cuisine, apple, clementines, turkey dinner
Total Points: about 20 Water: 30+ oz. Exercise: 15 minutes BATP

Anyone have any new recipes to share? I'm turkeyed and chickened out lately...I have two pork tenderloins in the freezer, maybe I'll thaw them out. Is teriyaki bad for you on WW? I forgot I have veggie wraps to make but the kids won't eat them.

Well, I have a ton of typing to do today, I'll check in later in the day ;)

:grouphug: Have a great day!!!

HI guys,

Thanks everyone for the support!!

I have a good idea for those of you on WW (even if you're not, these are awesome!). They're the WW All Day Breakfast Cinnamon Sugar Swirl (2 points each). Now the trick for me is to only eat 1. They're so good I want to eat more!!!

I went a little bit over my points yesterday, but I knew it was coming because I went out to eat with some friends, so it was fine.

I worked out first thing this morning because I can't do it at lunch. I did a Taebo workout. I feel good this morning!!!

Have a great day everyone!!!

Hi Ladies  ~
*peeks her head around her desk and smiles meekly*:halfempty I have been MIA for over a week, and I am so sorry, but everyone at home got sick with different stuff, and work has been a tad busier. I feel like I've missed out on SO much in the past 2 weeks, like I have fallen off the wagon of knowing everyone. Boy, that makes me look like a real heel since I originally started this Group. So please forgive me, and I look forward to being back in action and getting to know everyone again, and the new comers. :o :^:

:welcome3: Maureen & Danielle to the Group. My name is Elizabeth aka MommaAshley, and I look so forward to getting to know you both as you share in this journey ~ You've both posted and I've enjoyed reading and learning about ya'll !!

Lisa: I"m doing WW but on my own so I"m not real familier with all the foods is the WW All Day Breakfast Cinnamon Sugar Swirl is it a recipe or something you purchase already made?

Anyone else that may be interested: Back when I first started WW our instructor, I guess is what you would call her, told us when you think about it as being 1 pound loss it may not sound like much but 1 pound equals 4 sticks of butter so if you think about it like that it sounds like much more. I've lost 7 pounds so far so I've lost 28 sticks of butter.

Also, I'm not real good at doing this myself but it makes sense. I was told once that you shouldn't drink 30 minutes before a meal or during a meal and wait 30 minutes after your meal before drinking anything. Of course it's OK to keep a glass of water next to you incase you get choked up but the reason for this is that drinking before during and after can dilute your stomach acids so that the acids are not able to digest your food as quickly and thoroughly thus hendering weight loss.

But it sounds like everyone is doing great! Keep up the good work!
I'm back on track myself after my brownie insident just completely messed me up with my diet for 2 days. After eating a brownie sunday night all I wanted to do all day yesterday was eat. Anyway, doing good today.

MomTo2 - Yes, Jiggle Free Abs came as part of my Transfirmer set. I'm so sorry - I didn't see your questions on the Exercise Forum. I need to head back there! Jiggle Free Abs rock - you'll love the video when you get it. My husband is going to start doing it with me. Thank you for the encouraging words. I will spice up my routine a little. At the gym, I've added in 5 minutes of stairstepping. I know it doesn't sound like much, but whoa is that some work! I also need to do my Firm videos more - I feel like if I could just put some more muscle on I could really blast some fat off. I like to imagine the muscle arm wrestling the fat outta there.

Catherine - CONGRATS ON THE 2 POUNDS!!!We are stationed in 29 Palms, CA right now. In August we're moving to South Carolina. WAHOO!!!!!!

Nighthawk - WTG!!!!! Keep up the great work!!!

Everyone keep up the great work. You motivate me so much!!!!!!!!!

02-07-2006, 01:28 PM
Sarah - thanks. I just added the StairMaster on Saturday too. I did 30 minutes the first day (because there were no other empty machines) and then yesterday cut back to 15.

I don't have tim efor personals right the middle of big time house cleaning...I just have to get my 3FC fix for the hour!

02-07-2006, 02:35 PM
Hi guys,

Welcome back Elizabeth!! Life gets hectic sometimes doesn't it?? I hope you and everyone in your family are feeling better!! Congrats on losing all that weight and reaching your Valentine's goal early, I'm sure that makes you feel wonderful!!!

Serena - the WW snack I mentioned is a WW snack bar. I got it at my WW meeting, so not sure exactly where to get it, maybe grocery stores or check WW website. They're so yummy!!

Take care.

02-07-2006, 05:57 PM
Elizabeth - WELCOME BACK, STRANGER!! We have all missed you! :grouphug: It's so great to see you again. Keep up the great work! :high:

Nori - how in the world do you manage 30 minutes? LOL Do you set it on manual or one of the programs? :tired:

Lisa - I think you can only buy those bars at the WW meetings. At our meetings they sell bars, crisps, oatmeals, candy and smoothies that you can only get at the meetings. The only way I know to get the stuff without going to a meeting is to check it out on Ebay, but sometimes it is way overpriced. It's a conspiracy to make you come to the meetings. LOL :o

Everyone, I hope you're having a great day!

02-07-2006, 06:10 PM
Sarah - I had it on "random" program and only at level 5 out of 20. Random is nice because it speeds up for 1 segment and then slows down gradually or rapidly for the next segment and then back up.

Anyone do the Elliptical michine by LifeFitness? It's the one with the arm action? I usually use the Precor Ellipticals, but decided to mix it up today. I did it today for 30 minutes. It's nice because it also works your arms - sort of - it's still mostly lower body. Plus I like it better in reverse mode than the Precor. As soon as my belly gets smaller I'm going to venture onto one of the rowers. That seems like it would be so good for getting a sexy back!

Yes, hello Elizabeth! Nice to hear from you and to see yet another adorable siggy with Sam in it!! Congrats on your weight loss too. Fantastic!:carrot:

02-07-2006, 06:56 PM
Hello everyone, So glad to hear from so many of you! :D I so look forward to getting on here everyday! I have to have my 3FC fix like Nori does! Well, I would not say I have fallen off the wagon but I did fall off the rocker a little today!:o I had Chinese for lunch! Very good!! Had not had it in awhile. Of course it tore my stomach up. I guess that is what I get. I have not set up an appt. with the trainer yet, still need to get all my forms to the doctor. even though it will not cost that much I do want to wait until my taxes come back, so I do not mess myself up. I also want to get my own elliptical. I still have not found the BL dvd, even at Wal-mart. Will do my squats and crunches in a little while.

Nori, that is amazing how much time you did on the stairmaster! You go girl!!!!:carrot: I plan on going skating on Saturday again. I really enjoy it. Hopefully We can get someone to stay with my father-in-law and my husband will be able to go to!:dancer:

Elizabeth, so glad to have you back! great job on the weight loss!

Lisa, try some of the South beach diet bars, I love the Cranberry almond. I really like the wraps that they have also. They come two to a package but I only eat one and save the other one for the next day at work, since I am doing small meals.

Marine Mom, It said you were from VA, that is why I asked. South Carolina will be cool.

Maureen, Maybe we can stick with the two pounds each, it does add up! I told my husband about the pound of butter. So he passed me a frozen pound roll of sirloin burger. So looking at that two pounds is a lot.

Well, I need to go start dinner and help my daughter with her math homework!:spin:

See ya later!
