Gayle ~ Thanks for the information on WW's Core program. I did a search and found a site with more details and a food list and it's basically the same as what I've been doing and eating. I've just been keeping track of calories instead of points.
Way to go on the 6 pounds lost too! You're moving in the right direction! :carrot:
Janice ~ Congratulations to you too on your weight loss! :carrot:
Dee ~ I'm glad to hear that Dez made out so well with her surgery. I hope her recovery goes well and that she doesn't have anymore problems.
It was a sunny warm day here today too...the first one in over 2 weeks! I made sure to get outside and soak some of it up too! That's the worst part about winters in Pennsylvania...no sun. :(
Shelly ~ You're on a roll...good for you! Keep it up!

Hey gals , sorry i didn't get back with the rest of my story the other day. I have one little boy who is a screamer and he makes it not so much fun and exhausting to be around. I am tired tonite.
Mom's finances with Medicare is ok they did something wrong(can you imagine the gov. doing something wrong). Sorry but anyway everything is ok with her being able to stay where her and Dad are.
My uncle is going to be paralyzed on the left side but not as bad as my Mom. My mom had my dad call his brother(MY uncle) and tell him that he can share the other bed in her room , they can be bunk buddies....She hasn't lost her humor....
Sherry...I am so thrilled to hear that everything is ok with you. I am doing the sonoma diet it is so easy no calorie counting and lost 11lbs. in 10 days.
01-10-2006, 09:09 PM
Vicki....Can you tell me something about the sonoma diet? I haven't heard about it.
I'm so glad your Mom,Dad & Uncle are doing ok...Take care of yourdelf too!
01-10-2006, 09:43 PM
Sherry, the sonoma diet is featured on the 3FC home page right now... http://www.3fatchicks.com/diets/sonoma-diet.php
Congratulations Vicki! 11 pounds in 10 days is an amazing loss! :carrot:

I have done ww and it was good for me but I will soon have surgery and I will stuck at home I am not really sure about standing on the scale for the weigh ins.
01-10-2006, 11:41 PM
WELCOME JUST FOXY! Great group of gals here, you will love'm!
01-11-2006, 07:02 AM
Welcome Just Foxy! Please join in, and let us know what kind of surgery you are having. We have a bio thread that you are welcome to post to let us know about you.
Sherry-I am so happy for you. In my heart, I just knew you were fine. It sucks that you have to get colon. every 2 years. Me too! I can tell in your "voice" how relieved you are. Congratulations on the weight loss. Sounds like you are in the right direction in every way. Now, come on over to the exercise thread and start walking again!! BTW, where's Debbie?????
Dee-I am glad that Dez is okay. It's probably better that she wasn't doing well during the night. That way she won't push herself to go back to work so soon.
Gayle-Wow!! 6 lbs!!! Wonderful!! I barely lost 1 this week. I'm not sure what's going on. I'm wondering if I am just bloated because maybe this would be when I would normally have a period?? I don't know, just guessing and looking for any answer. It could really also be the amount of running, but I don't think that has anything to do with it. Another thing--all of the sudden I have been getting hives. I thought it was the wheat, but I got them again yesterday after eating an egg yolk and tangerine. I got it again this morning, and didn't eat or drink anything. I had just put my bra on, and it broke out between my breasts. Maybe the nylon? It was a bra I hadn't worn in quite some time. The thing that scares me is sometimes a UC flare can start with hives. It never has with me, but I've read that it can.
Vicki-I'm glad the medicare thing is okay. Sounds like you have your hands full with all the screaming kids at your daycare. I'll have to read up on that diet you are doing. 11 lbs. is awesome!
Suzy-Thanks for the link. I really enjoy you being here. You are such a joy to talk to and always have an upbeat word for everyone.
Hi Cheryl!! When are you coming back over to exercise?
It's getting late, I've got to go to work. There has been quite a bit of action on this board! I'm glad everyone is posting.
01-11-2006, 10:21 AM
I second the action on the board Shelley! I'm happy to see the postings too!
Did you change the brand of detergent you use? Are you using anything new?
Sher, CONGRATS ON THE WEIGHT LOSS! I'm so happy things are looking up for you!
Vickster, AWESOME LOSS! Sounds like the Sonoma diet is for you!
Suzy, I agree once again with Shelley, you add a wonderful mood to this group!
Justfoxy, feel free to post here as often as you would like to. This is a great group of hard working, caring ladies with great values and awesome support to offer!
01-11-2006, 12:02 PM
Shelley, I've been working out some (not much, though :( ). I've been counting minutes as opposed to miles or any other measuring. I don't have any set goals right now.
I registered for a class yesterday. I wasn't going to take one this semester because it's a stressful time of year for me anyway, with it being farm loan season, but two professors from the college e-mailed me and asked if I would consider taking it if it were moved from two nights/week to only one night/ week. How could I say no to that? (Plus I tend to go into withdrawal mode when I'm out of school for prolonged periods of time :) )
I've started taking my Lexapro again. Not necessarily for "depression," per se, but because of anger issues. I tend to "stew" and then blow up at the slightest thing. I decided that's not fair to Stewart or to the rest of my family--and there's no way it can be healthy for me. I feel much better, but it's a killer on the weight-loss front.
I've really been craving "heavy" carbs lately. I'm hoping it's because it's that TOM!!
Welcome to the board, Justfoxy! Stick around, put up your feet and enjoy some cold beverages with us. . .
01-11-2006, 10:14 PM
Welcome to the group justfoxy! I'm looking forward to getting to know you better!
Shelley and Gayle ~ I can't tell you how much I enjoy being part of this group. You all have become very dear friends...thank you!
Cheryl ~ I'm glad you're feeling better with the medication! Boy, I sure can relate to the carb cravings! I think my problem is due to the weather and long winter nights...I just want to eat and hibernate! I'll be so glad when Spring gets here!
01-11-2006, 11:24 PM
First of all, congrats to everyone on the terrific losses! I hope this will be a losing year for us all.
Sherry, I'm so glad everything turned out all right. See.....I told you it would!
Dee, I hope Dez is doing okay.
Vicki, glad things are moving along all right for you.
I'm sorry I didn't post to everyone, maybe one of these days I'll get back in the groove and bore you all with my endless rantings!!!
Dan is doing okay. He still hasn't been approved for therapy yet, but he has an appointment next Tuesday in Little Rock for an evaluation. Hopefully that will result in something good. He still doesn't have the wheelchair that was made for him and as a result, he has fallen out of the "loaner" chair several times. It is so very hard to see your child lying on the ground, calling for help. It just breaks my heart. He has so far been denied every type of disability and aid. We are fast running out of money. I don't know how "handicapped" you have to be to get help!
I need your advice on something. There is a vacancy in the next election year for the office of County Clerk. It is a very demanding job, but it about two and a half times what I make now. It would be very risky for me to run, the filing fee alone is $1200.00. And then there is all the money for the campaign. I've really been wrestling with this. What do you ladies think? Everyone says that since I've been in business here for years and since my dad used to be the County Judge, that I have a real good chance. It's just scary. I used to be unfazed by taking chances, but now with Daniel being ill, everything has changed. Any suggestions????
Okay, gotta go clean out everything in my kitchen. We have a leak in the wall and the sheetrock, sub-floor and cabinets have to all be pulled out and replaced. I just pray that our insurance company comes through. They are being kind of iffy about it. It really makes me mad that I've paid premiums for 27 years and now they don't want to help! Enough babbling, good night everyone. Hope you all have a terrific rest of the week!
01-12-2006, 06:47 AM
Ramona-I say go for it, if you have the time to do it!! You would do an awesome job and win hands down!! My prayers continue for Dan's swift recovery.
Cheryl-I know what you mean about blowing up. I am the same way. I feel the rage going through me, then blow up, even with the Prozac.
01-12-2006, 10:02 AM
Ramona--I say GO FOR IT!!!! If you decide to do it, I'll contribute to the campaign fund (may not be much, but I'll definately do what I can!)
Shelley--Yup. I catch myself clenching my jaw when I'm not on the meds. They really help more than one way, because they alleviate my headaches (from anger), too. It's funny, I never even realized I HAD and "anger problem" until I started taking Lexapro for depression in 2004--then when I quit the people I worked with started commenting on my personality change (for the worse, apparently). They didn't even know I had been taking it or that I had quit!!!!
Anyway--I didn't take it for 6 or 7 months or so, and just started back right before the holidays.
Suzy--I'll be incredibly GLAD when spring gets here, too!! I'm ready for some longer daylight hours!!
01-12-2006, 10:32 AM
Ramona ~ It breaks my heart hearing what you and your family are going through. I wish there was more I could do for you all other than pray.
As for running for office...I'd just say that you have to follow your heart and do what you think is best for you and your family. I wish you the best in whatever you decide.
The sun is out here today and it's supposed to be in the 50's! That's crazy for us in the middle of January, but I'm not complaining! I'm going to do my best to get outside at least for a little while this afternoon and enjoy the weather!
01-12-2006, 10:51 AM
Ramona, if you feel passionate about it, then do it! Funds will be available to you if it is meant to be. You need something to spark that fire in you once again and maybe this is just the ticket!
I'm sorry to hear of Dan's suffering....he is thought of daily here and prayers continue to be sent.
Cheryl, I didn't realize you suffered from depression and had moments of anger. If the meds work, I say continue them and don't worry about what others think. Know you can ALWAYS come here and vent, we love you unconditionally.
Suzy, it has been really mild here this winter compared to in the past. We are having some days in the high 50's, low 60's! It snowed on Monday with freezing temps, by Wednesday it was 59! I'm not complaining though... LOL!
Dee, you mentioned Hospice in one of your postings. I had to take a leave, in fact I haven't been involved since mom's heart attack last March. I have too many things going on between the care of mom, family and trying to work part time. I would love to get back with it, but at this time I know deep in my heart I couldn't devote the time or energy needed.
I hope Dez's butt is feeling better today! LOL! Give her a big ol' hug from me!
Sher, I hope things are going better for you since you found out the test results. We love you here and miss you when your gone!
Shelley, did you guys ever have the cold like you expected?
01-12-2006, 01:35 PM
I tried a new recipe out last night and I was pleased with it. Thought I would share!!!
The original recipe was for sweet & sour chicken, but I used center cut lean pork chops.
Place pork chops into bottom of crockpot, use 1/2 package of dry onion soup mix, sprinkle over chops. Pour 1/2 bottle of Kraft FF Catalina dressing over the top. Then add approx. 3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce on top of everything else. Cook on high around 8 hours.
****Shelley, you could probably do low for 10 hours.
Midway through cooking, I stirred the mixure once or twice.
I served this to the rest of the family using WW pasta, I ended up eating mine over the top of a serving of brown rice I had leftover.
It isn't as sweet as it sounds!!
01-12-2006, 01:52 PM
I'm so excited!!!!! I invited a very dear cousin of mine to join the group! I gave her the address and told her to check us out! She needs support and I KNOW you girls have tons of support to offer! She is going to let me know if she will be joining the group.
Bev, if your looking...your at the right place!!!!
HAVE A GREAT DAY!
01-12-2006, 03:51 PM
Just popping in to say hi to everyone. I am so happy to see lots of posts to read. I can't believe that we are on the second page and I haven't even posted.
It has been busy taking care of Dez. She was doing better the day after surgery but yesterday and today she is really sore. She thankfully is resting in bed with a boy! Yes I am thankful for that. Can you believe that? I wouldn't have been saying that last year! They are watching a movie so I a have some free time.
Ramona I think that you should go for it. Being from a small town I know how much your frespected amily has an influence. Go for it, if you think that you have the time to do a good job. Funding will come through.
Dan is in my prayers.
Gayle your recipe sounds good. I just put some chicken in the crock pot with a honey garlic sauce. Had I read this post sooner I would have tried your recipe.
To Gayle's cousin, BEV come and join us. We would love to have you.
Cheryl I understand depression very well. Dez was hospitalized for it and battles with it. I have also had mild cases of depression due to SAD and also due to dealing with my health issues. Medication sucks but if it makes you a better person do it.
Suzy we are still having mild weather too! I am quickly trying to post this so I can get outside while the sun is shinning and Dez is entertained. We have even had rain twice this week.
Shelley my sister Gail emailed me today and she is happy with the weather. She said that it was a high of 80 today. They are having a great time. She has not been able to afford a vacation so this is a big treat for her.
Sherry how are you doing? Still on program? I know when you set your mind to it you just give it. I am doing much better now that Dez is home and that TOM is over. I just need to remind myself when I want something that I shouldn't have "Is this as good as being thin?"
I hope the rest of you girls are having a good day.
01-13-2006, 06:49 AM
Gayle-Your recipe sounds really good. I might try it. I just received the TurnAround Cookbook. I ordered it online. I haven't had a chance to look through it, but it is supposed to be a great Core book. I really want to go get that other crockpot. I might do it today after I'm done going around with Patty. Today is her birthday and she takes the driving test. We have the insurance, tag and her car--so all she needs now is the license. I am so nervous because she is planning on being out until 9 tonight after she brings me back home. Maybe that's why I have been getting the hives.
Dee-I am glad that Dez is on the way to complete recovery for her booty.
It is supposed to get cooler again this weekend.
Bev-Come on over, we are always happy to add another Floozie!
01-13-2006, 04:43 PM
Shelley wish Patty Happy Birthday from a Canadian Chickie! Wow I remember when Jay started to drive I was very nervous. Everytime he left home I watched him leave and hoped that everything would be ok. It is possible to get hives from stress. Maybe that is why the hives. I am sure that Patty will be careful driving. Fortuanately she does not have to deal with ice and snow road conditions.
Thanks for the well wishes for Dez. She is sick with a cold flu now and it is taking a lot out of her. She is very sore on the bottom, I actually thought that by today she would be a bit better.
I would like to try the core plan but I am not sure if it would work for me. I am not a big eatter so I feel full on just a half a cup of food. Do you think that I would get enough calories? Counting points I make it to 20 but sometimes that is hard to do especially now that I am not eatting desserts except once a week. It might be easier for me to follow core in Mexico. What do you think?
01-13-2006, 06:02 PM
I'm still OP and doing great!!! :carrot: I can't wait to weigh-in Monday!!
Shelley...I thought of Patty this morning! Remember her & Drew share the same birthday! He's 18 today! I can't believe my "baby" is 18!!! OMG! Where does the time go? Patty will do fine tonight. I remember those first few months of Chris & Drew driving the first time! I still can't sleep until Drew is in the house!! Tell Patty I said HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
Got to go get Wayne at work (still car pooling! :( )
01-13-2006, 06:29 PM
Sherry your children are adults now. How does that feel? Say Happy birthday to Drew for me. Are you making his favorite dinner tonight or is he busy with his friends?I was sad when Dez turned 18. I am so proud of you for being on program all week. You are doing great. Can't wait to see what your weigh in is on monday.
01-13-2006, 07:11 PM
Sherry-I forgot it was Drew's birthday too!! Wish him a happy birthday from me!
Gayle-Thanks for the card for Patty. She whizzed through her driving test, we went to get her a checking account and debit card, get her car washed, over to Grandma and Grandpa's to show them the car, and then she was off to pickup her friends from school and have a late lunch at Smokey Bones with them. She called me twice. I made her promise not to use her phone while driving for this first week.
Dee-I didn't realize that you aren't a big eater. I wish I was that way. I am a volume eater and need to fill my stomach up to expansion. That's why I depend so much on lettuce. I think you could make core work for you by having more things like oatmeal, barley, and other healthy carbs that are allowed. Remember, points aren't counted, so you don't even need to think about whether you reach 20 points per day. You don't need to lose anymore weight though, do you? You are the same weight as me now. I am content to be in a size 4 or 6, though I always complain about feeling and looking fat anyway. Aren't you about the same size? Just be careful and don't get too thin. You are younger than me and it probably won't show in your face like it does in mine, but be careful!
01-13-2006, 11:17 PM
Dee, I would say give core a chance if you like pasta, potatoes, lean cuts of meat etc. I like the fact I am no longer weighing and measuring out portions. I am also learning to listen to my body better to get a sense of when I am actually satisfied and can quit eating. I'm like Shelley though...I am a volume eater too. I don't think I could eat 1/2 cup of something and be full. I am making CORE meals and the family is eating them, this would of never happened at our home if we were counting points.
My gosh! LITTLE Drew is 18!!!!!!! Yikes, all of a sudden I feel very old! I think he was around 11-12 when we started visiting! Good luck on weigh-in Sher! My weigh-in day is Monday too.
Shelley, sounds like you had a very busy day! I bet Patty is so excited!
Okay....cousin B........come out and play!!!!
01-14-2006, 07:20 AM
Gayle-I need some more of your recipes. Anything else exciting you've had (and Core friendly)that I can make in my new crockpot? Preferably with either whole chicken or breasts (bone in), beef, and pork. Everything seems to taste the same. I'm hoping the new crockpot helps. I'm not sure how to adapt recipes to crockpot from the Turnaround cookbook. I'm going to try your pork recipe next week after grocery shopping.
01-15-2006, 01:21 AM
Shelley, I use mine alot to just cook my chicken, beef etc. so when I get home I can chunk the chicken etc. to use in stir fry and such. I look on the WW core thread for crock pot recipes, many can be found. I do have a very good chil recipe to be made in the crockpot. It is similar to Wendys chili. If you want the recipe, just shout.
If I disappear for a day or two, don't worry. We are having internet provider problems so we have been off & on with access. If I'm gone then you know I just can't get onto the net.
WISHING EVERYONE A FANTASTIC WEEKEND!
01-15-2006, 06:45 AM
Thanks, Gayle. I look on the site too, I just didn't know if you had any others. I just ordered the Cooking Light magazine, so that should give me some also. The beef stew I made yesterday turned out wonderful. The only problem is, I had cornbread with it and ate 4 pieces! I'm such a pig.
01-15-2006, 11:10 AM
I love the cooking light magazine!!! Many of the recipes can be adapted to core. The more I stay with it, the happier I am with core. I am preparing meals all the family will eat! The only things I need to watch are rice & beans, if I want to use those or add to a recipe, I just add to my serving or I make WW pasta for the others. Steve is even "bewildered" he is eating so well and losing as he goes. He is not doing core as strict as I am, but he is making an effort. I have weigh-in tomorrow, I'm getting excited to see the scale, I have been checking every day but will go with tomorrows weigh-in amount.
Shelley, I made some yummy potatoes last night! I cubed some potatoes and tossed them in a gallon size ziplock bag, I then drizzled 3t. olive oil over the top, closed the bag and tossed to coat, then I added 1/2 a package of the dry onion soup mix, closed and tossed again. I dumped out onto a baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray, I then sprinkled lightly with season salt and tossed in a 400 oven for 20 minutes. Stir after 20 and then bake an addition 15-20 minutes. YUM-O!!!
My "diet" meal last night was: A grilled filet steak, the potatoes and french cut green beans.
01-15-2006, 11:12 AM
HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR CHERYL!!!!!!!!!
WISHING YOU A BLESSED DAY FILLED WITH LOVE & GOOD PRESENTS!!! LOL!
You are a special person and a dear friend, enjoy YOUR day sweetie!
01-15-2006, 12:31 PM
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHERYL!!:carrot: :woo: :dancer: :cheer: :balloons: :bravo: :hb:
01-15-2006, 02:35 PM
:hb: Happy Birthday Cheryl! :hb:
I hope your birthday brings you a special kind of happiness and leaves
you with the nicest kind of memories!
Wow! I feel like I'm so far behind in my posting...you all have been busy!
Dee ~ I'm sorry to hear that Dez has a cold besides trying to recover from her surgery. She sure didn't need that on top of everything else! How are you holding up with it all?
Sherry ~ Congratulations for staying OP! You are doing great girl! :carrot:
Shelley ~ I'm glad to hear that Patty passed her drivers test! Congratulations to her! I'm sure you'll be seeing nothing but tail lights for awhile!
I'm the same way with cornbread...I love it! I found a low fat recipe for it not long ago, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm afraid that cornbread may just be one of those recipes that you don't mess with and just be prepared to add the extra calories when you make it.
Gayle ~ I bet those potatoes were good! I make potatoes like that only I use parmesan cheese and season salt. I'll have to try them with the onion soup mix next time!
I got on the scale this morning for the first time since Christmas...I'm down 1 pound, so I've lost anything I gained (I didn't dare look to see what that was  ) plus one pound! :carrot:
I had another sort of "victory" this week too...Friday I was working at the shop and a delivery driver came in that I haven't seen in awhile. The first thing he said to me was "Wow...you've lost a lot of weight!" He was embarrassed that he just blurted it out like that and apologized, but it sure made me feel good that the loss is noticeable enough to cause a reaction like that!
01-15-2006, 03:47 PM
WOW! SUZY! AWESOME JOB ON THE WEIGHT LOSS!!!!!
I'm sure it made you feel FANTASTIC when the delivery driver made that comment!
01-15-2006, 05:27 PM
Suzy-I agree!! You are doing wonderful! Only 5 lbs to go until you reach goal. It must have been a wonderful feeling when he told you that!
01-15-2006, 07:27 PM
Cheryl I hope that you have a wonderful Birthday. Heavens know that you deserve it! All the best!
01-15-2006, 07:57 PM
:woo: Happy Birthday Cheryl!!!! :woo:
I hope you had a wonderful day!! :hb:
Suzy...Congrats on the weight loss AND compliments from the delivery guy! :cp:

I Have Been Going To The Gym, But I Do Have A Hard Time. My Ankles, Knees And Hands And Wrists Have Been Swollen For Months. I Need To Get To The Doctor And See What Is Going On. I Am Just So Tired Of Having One Thing Wrong After Another. The Pool Feels Great Though. I Have Pretty Much Been Staying On Program.
01-16-2006, 09:42 AM
