Food Talk And Fabulous Finds - Diet Coke Cake??View Full Version : Diet Coke Cake?? Jen415 01-09-2006, 01:55 PM Anyone heard of this phenomenon? I heard that it is made with cake mix and diet coke...no eggs or oil....can this be true?? GonnaLooseitagain 01-09-2006, 03:07 PM Here is what I found online about it Just take a cake mix you get at the store and a can of diet coke and put it in the oven (chocolate cake works best). that's it. I thought it would taste a little funny...but actually it was very moist and you really can't tell the difference Now I have a chocolate cake mix I just got today, so I will have to try it, so nutritionally it would have 170 calories per 1 serving of cake (1 serving is 1/12 of a cake) This would also depend on what brand of cake mix you use, ect. Considering when made the box says 270 cals, that is a BIG difference, I will try it with this cake and let you know...it may be a few days, we are all birthday cake'd out right now. I also found this:CHOCOLATE CAKE WITH DIET COLA 1 box of chocolate cake mix 1 can of diet coke 2 egg whites coolwhip (if desired) DIRECTIONS: Mix together dry cake mix, 10-12 oz's of diet soda, 2 egg whites (DO NOT USE THE EGG OR OIL LISTED ON THE BOX) Spray a 9 X 12 cake pan (or cupcake tin) with non-stick spray and bake according to package instructions. top with coolwhip is desired WHITE CAKE WITH DIET SPRITE 1 box of white cake mix 1 can of diet diet sprite DIRECTIONS (see the chocolate cake directions) *SPECIAL NOTE: some have said an entire can of soda makes the cake too moist ..... 10 oz seems to work out just fine. Experiment yourself to find the best amount for your taste. Jen415 01-09-2006, 03:41 PM Cool! Thanks for the info! JLynne126 01-09-2006, 03:42 PM I've done it before. The consistency was poor. The cake didn't hold up very well and crumbled when trying to cut. Despite this, it tasted good. ~jess~ Yogini 01-09-2006, 03:42 PM Anyone heard of this phenomenon? I have read that aspertame should not be cooked because heat causes it to be broken down in an unfavorable way. If Diet Coke contains Nutrasweet or any aspertame, I'd say it's not a good idea. You could use a plain carbonated water :) Personally, I never use eggs, oil or Diet Coke to make cakes. If you'd like a recipe for a delicious cake, PM me and I'll share ;) Chickygirl444 01-09-2006, 11:05 PM :carrot: Hello All, after a week of being sick, I feel like this guy jumping up and down! I'll bet that would work, since Splenda can be used for baking :) Nevaeh 01-10-2006, 02:43 PM I've made it before and love it! Just this past weekend my sister made a lemon cake with diet sprite and it was great. She put coolwhip on as icing.. definitely recommend! Loser2B 01-10-2006, 02:50 PM I have also made it before, but I did not omit the eggs. I left out the oil & substituted diet coke for the water. My family loves it. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
