I am starting phase 1 on Jan 9th and I am going shopping tomorrow.

BTW My Niece is going to do this with me do you think it will stall her weight loss if she has one piece of wheat toast every other day?? It makes her sick to eat eggs every morning..

I did SB in 2004 and lost 17 pounds and hope to be as successful as I was then.

Hi Loving mommy! Me and DH will be joining you !!!

Hmm: Here's a link to Alternatives to Eggs in the morning..and don't forget,Think outside the box.. we don't have to rely on traditional items fer breakfast..

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57532

Phase 1 is to help us rid our cravings fer sugar and processed stuff. I don't know if having WW everyother day will help her with that.. Maybe neice can take a look at that link and try these other things.

Sorry about the cold, Stephie. Any chance you can get sugar free cough medecine? I know they make it for diabetics.

Um...just a hint - peanut butter and peanuts. The Phase I rule is either, not both unless you halve the recommended serving size.

Well yesterday 'went to the dogs' was feeling particularly sick and was not very OP. You know I have noticed that when I do go OP, other than the usual guilt I just feel really sick. It is like when I am eating OP my system feels 'clean' and when I am not my stomach suffers the consequences. Anyway started the morning off right with a good breakfast. Hoping to make it all day as a perfect angel *wink*

Ruth - duh, I cannot believe I planned it that way. Must have been a slip up, but thanks for the reminder on the Peanut/Peanut Butter issue :)

Loving Mommy - I think your menu looks good. Definitely not enough food for me though lol.

Pearshape - I will have to check out that recipe. Is it in the phase 1 breakfast section of 3fc?

OK well it is back to work for me. Hitting the gym tonight would be great, not sure if it will be possible though. Maybe after I shoot the basketball game...

Yippee, yippee, yippee:cheer: I lost 2 lbs, yesterday.:goodscale A new day has dawned, for me! :flow1: Remember ladies I am a day ahead of you, on the other side of the world. (Australia) Day 2 will be a little difficult because I will be here, there and everywhere. :bike: A bit tough to push the water, not knowing what corner the nearest loo (toilet) will be around. I think I jumped the gun a bit last night, when at 7:00 I said I had made it through another day. No more had I typed that and logged off, I had a snack attack. :hungry: Cut up a bit of cucumber and snacked on that. I realise, now, the day is not over until you pillow your head and can close your eyes and say, "Well Done". :cp: Does anyone know if the fake crab is allowed on the SB diet? I had already thawed some from the weekend, so I am trying to eat that up, but will not buy, again. Yesterday for brekkie I had 2 veggie quiches, LUNCH: mixed salad with crab, SUPPER: Egg omelet. SNACK: Ricotta cheese, with lime, cucumber, late evening. Any errors, ladies.

Thanks for your support and for inviting me to the newbie site. Catch you on the return trip.:scooter:

I have read where Dr. A said that artificial crabmeat was okay but I wonder if he realized what it contains? There are so many starches in it that most of us have decided it should be avoided.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the fake crab meat was not OK due to all the sugars in it. Hmm! Either way I'd avoid it.

Steph: Yes, the recipe is in the b'fast section. It's really good with some flax meal added to it, just be sure to count that as your nut serving, according to Dr. A.

Yesterday was a good OP day. I had a late class so didn't feel like making the soup so just had leftover roast chicken and broccoli. Ruth somewhere posted about having sf syrup in milk as a dessert...I tried it...and it's so good. Thanks for that.

Morning all you Phase 1 chicks. I just have to say YEEEEE HAW!!!!:carrot:

Today was weight in day and I'm down 5.5 pounds.:goodscale Hubby was down 7.

I couldn't believe it. I know it is all water weight because of how much I had to pee yesterday but it is so encouraging to know I am getting rid of some of the weight I have gained since October. WOO WHO!:cb:

I'm going to chime in on the imitation crab also. When I read the package it had some kind of filler and for the life of me I can't remember what it was right now and sugar. I know when I found that out and quit eating it my weight started going down again.

Yesterday was another OP day for me even though the temptations (better know as cream cheese danish) were still in the office. Had my 120oz of water and am feeling really good. I had forgotten how good I feel when I stay OP.

Today's menu:

B - Ham and turkey rollup with a smidge bit of chive onion cream cheese, tomatoes, and cucumbers

S - Bean Salad and Milk

L - eating out with a friend at Burger and Brew will probably have a spinach salad or ceasar salad w/o the dressing

S - celery with laughing cow light swiss

D - Chicken foil pouches (can't remember what they are called in the SBD book), black beans and spinach

S - SF Jello with dollop of cool whip for hubby and SF peanut butter with a dollop of cool whip for me.

Hope everyone has an OP day!!

Manage to get through, yesterday, with all it's here, there and everywhere's. Thanks for the chicken cola recipe. I do have problem, though. I cannot get all the SF items, here, that you have in America. Makes it difficult. I am not sure about the ketchup, either. Don't know if we even have anything like low carb ketchup. What about tomato sauce. Guess it wouldn't taste the same. Major boo boo, yesterday. Went to the shops and saw some low fat fudgesicles. I thought, yippee, Bought them and then on the way home, a light pinged in my head. I checked the fat content, but did I check the sugar. NOOOOOOOOO! it had 16.1 g of sugar.:nono: Well, offered them up as a sacrifice to DH when I got home. He gladly accepted. :T Back to the drawing board. :stress: As for the crab meat. What's left in the frig will be breakfast for the magpies this morning.:dz: Well, off for another cuppa and see what I can get into, today. It is a home day. Cleaning and finally take down the Christmas tree.

Just made the Salsa chicken and as I was making it, I noticed the taco mix had sugar in it, the salsa had sugar in it. Was going to make something else and noticed the tinned diced tomatoes had 4.0 sugar in it. What do I do? How much is too much sugar? :?: After having to give up my fudgecicles, yesterday, not ready to give up my chicken:chicken: :tantrum: I dont' think we have many of the LF, SF, items, here, that are available overseas. Oh, woe is me.:stress:

Barb0522
01-12-2006, 10:05 AM
Do they list sugar in the ingredient list or only on the nutritional information? Tomatoes have natural sugar which is fine but you want to avoid added sugar. I know someone has listed a combination of spices that you can use for the Taco mix.

Sheba's Mom
01-12-2006, 11:47 AM
 Arheba  sorry you sound so stressed. I don't know what kinds of salsa you have there but if Pace is one of the brands they don't add sugar to it. It will show a sugar grams count but like Barb said it is from the tomatoes and that sugar is OK. If you can't find one with out added sugar you could always make your own with tomatoes, onions, jalapenos or chillis and cilantro. I haven't been able to find a no sugar added Taco mix. However I did find that the spices that are in the Taco Bake recipe work wonderfully for a Taco mix. And you can make it as spicy or mild as you want just by adding and deleting the spices. The Taco Bake link is http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38592&highlight=Taco Hope this helps you dear.

As for me well I had another OP day and am feeling really good still. I love it. Just wish I could remember how much better I feel when I'm eating correctly when that donut or cookie pops up at me.

Today's menu will be:

B - Ham & turkey with smidge bit of cream cheese roll up, cucumbers, tomatoes. I know boring but I like it and it is something I can eat while I drive for 45 mins to work.

S - Bean salad and milk

L - Taco Bake, broccoli, grean beans, snap peas and cottage cheese

S - Laughing cow light swiss and celery

D - Meatloaf (no crackers or oatmeal), spinach/romaine salad, cauliflower

S - hubby get jello with dollop of cool whip and I will have peanut butter with a dollop of cool whip

Hope everyone has a great OP day.

Thanks to all for your insight. Will have to learn to read the labels for sugar. Have always read the fat content, but never thought much about the sugar. Off to town, today, to the hairdresser and then to the shops and have a wander and read some labels. Did well, yesterday, but in reading the other posts don't think I am eating enough veggies. Stayed OP all day, which I am pleased about, plus did not feel hungry. Don't we all wish this feeling could last a lifetime. :cb: Congrats to all that stayed OP, yesterday. The taco chicken bake was good, yesterday. I made a cucumber, onion, tomatoe salad with a little olive oil, vinegar and equal. Was quite good, although don't think DH was to fussed on it, but he suffered in silence!:eating2: lLost four pounds so far.:goodscale :cb:

Had a poke around at shops before going to hairdresser. Didn't come up with much. Did find some mexican spices for the next time I make the taco chicken. No spray butter. Found a Heinz tomato sauce, Oops, ketchup with 25% less sugar. Nothing SF. Did find some cheese sticks that were low in fat and calories, so went with those, also. That's about the long and short of it. Will keep reading and searching in some other shops as time goes along. Bought some caulie and will cook and mash that tonight. I do have some Molly McButter someone sent me from the States, so will give that a go. I waited until I got home for lunch and finished off the chicken with the tomato, cucumber and onion salad. I tend to be a creature of habit. When I find something I like, it seems I eat it a few days in a row. Catch up with everyone in the a.m.

Hi everyone just a quick drive by today. Lots to do. Still OP and feeling great. Scales down again this morning.:carrot: It is amazing how much water you can retain and not know it.

Today's menu will be:

B - Ham & turkey with smidge bit of cream cheese roll up, cucumbers, tomatoes.

S - Bean salad and milk

L - Left over meatloaf, broccoli, grean beans, snap peas and cottage cheese

S - Laughing cow light swiss and celery

D - Garlic soy pork chops, cauliflower and black beans

S - hubby gets SF jello with dollop of cool whip and I will have peanut butter with a dollop of cool whip. Know this is what we have every night but it works for us. Cures the wanting something sweet/dessert crave after dinner.

We didn't get the foil pouch chicken done this week. Just didn't have time that day so we just ate leftovers. However, the chicken was thawed so I baked it with some seasonings and tomorrow I am going to put it in the crock pot with either the cola chicken items or the SBD BBQ sauce. Not sure which I want to try yet.

Hope everyone has a geat OP day and weekend.

Hi all!! I too started on the 9th and am working my way through the first week. Have headaches, light headedness, all the typical stuff from what I've read. I'm deployed overseas so food is pretty limited (what the galley serves, we eat). But I've stuck with it (my buddy quit after 3 days). There's eggs every morning and a salad bar for lunch and dinner. Haven't stepped on the scale yet, it's been almost a week and I'm curious. Hardest part for me is night snacking, I love nuts! Take care, God bless, and good job everyone!!:p

Well as usually my mother tried to sabotage my WOE this weekend when we were shopping Saturday. She insisted on going to Krispy Kreem and practically through a fit until I took her there. Well you need to be proud of me ladies I sat there and watched her order and eat 4 donuts and I didn't have any!!! Hurray for me!!! :carrot: The scale gods were good to me this morning for it also as I was down another 3 pounds this morning!

Today's menu:

B - Ham & turkey roll up with that smidgey bit of cream cheese, tomatoes and cucumbers

S - bean salad and milke with protein power in it

L - cola chicken, broccoli and cottage cheese

S - celery and laughing cow cheese

D - Have an early meeting tonight so we will be eating out. Probably the mom and pop drive thru that has a wonderful grilled chicken salad. They don't marined the chicken just a few seasonings and then grill it.

S - hubby gets his jello and I get my peanut butter with a dollop of cool whip when we get home from the meeting.

I know the average weight loss on the Phase 1 is 8-10 pounds, but unless I get movin don't think it's gonna happen.:tread: But, hey, as long as weight is on it's "weigh" down, no complainy!:bubbles: I have been trying a few of the recipes and most have been good and DH has even liked them. I loved it when he actually thought the shredded caulie was rice.:eating2: Well, time to hit the coffee, again. :coffee2: Have a good week OP.

:cheer: Congrats on the loss for you and your chicken man Schatzi!! :carrot: :goodscale

Isn't it amazing how much better you feel when you stay OP.:dancer:

Well I'm not telling my chicken man how much I have lost and he doesn't ask anymore. I have lost about 3 pounds more than him this time and the last time that happened I think he sulked for a week. Men and their egos go figure.

Well it's day 12 of P1 and I'm still doing good. Forgot to eat my black beans for two days and started feeling crappy. Litteraly. Had a large portion of them last night and everything is moving through like it should again this morning. Amazing how lousy you can feel when things aren't moving right.

So far I'm down 11.5 pounds and hope to make it 12 by Monday. Would be a record for me on P1. Usually I only loose about 7 pounds so I must have been holding a lot of water.

Today's menu:

B - Same old thing-Ham, turkey, cream cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes

S - Bean salad and milk

L - Spagheti sauce, broccoli and cottage cheese

S - Laughing cow swiss with celery

D - Chicken foil pounches, BLACK BEANS, :D and spinach

S - Jello for hubby and SF peanut butter for me with dollop of cool whip

I know our menu really repeats itself a lot but it is all food we really like and it is what keeps us on track for the two weeks.

Hope all you phase oners are doing well. Just think we are almost done!!:carrot: I can already taste that whole wheat bagel for breakfast on Monday.

Hope you all have a great OP weekend.

Good on ya Sheba's mum. I am on day 12, too, but only lost 6, so far, but not complaining. The chicken foil pouches keep popping up and I have tried to find the recipe but must be overlooking it. Could you give it to me?
Maybe, I am not eating enough beans. Don't know if we have black beans, here. Did put some white beans in a stir fry last night. I did roast the chick peas last week and loved them, but was afraid I might over eat them if I kept making them. But, me thinks, it's on for, today. Again, congrats. Check back in with you on weight in day.

Hi Arheba sorry about the chicken pouches thing. It is a recipe in the P1 section of the original SBD book. The first one that is the blue color. It is called Chicken en Papillote and is on page 150 of the book. I call it chicken pouches because I can't ever remember the en Papillote. I modified it for our tastes as we discovered we don't really like tarragon or orange zest, so I just leave that out. I alway double the amount of the chicken and triple the amount of the zucchini. If you don't have the book I will put the recipe into the recipe section.

It calls for one medium carrot and I go ahead and add that even though being in P1 it says we aren't suppose to have carrots. It hasn't ever given me any set backs or caused cravings.

It makes the chicken really super moist and gives it lots of flavor with the veggies. It freezes really well is why I always double it. I usually make it on Friday night because our weekends are usually insane. So I can just grab the leftovers, through them in the microwave and heat up a couple of cans of veggies and have lunch or dinner (or both some weekends) in a matter of minutes.

Hope you have a great weekend!
