Good Monday Morning Everyone!

Ahhh, another week gone and a new one upon us! School is starting this morning for Michael-have to leave in a few, and will come back and do my walking.

Well, I finally got to meet AMSER (ANN). What a pleasure it was to meet not only her, but Craig (very nice guy-even with grease on him), BO (the furry child) and her friends (sorry, I forgot their names). She signaled me when they got past a toll booth not far from me and we had made arrangments to meet in the parking lot near a KMart off the turnpike, a place that had a LOT of space for them to pull in with their caravan-a HUGE, and I mean HUGE RV, a jeep and a nice size boat (not a dingy, that's for sure). I have to give Craig a LOT of credit for being able (and confident) to be able to not only drive that big RV, but to pull both the jeep and the boat behind him! Anyhow, Ann is a doll, so petite! I think I hovered over here, but only because I was wearing my clod hoppers. I had absolutely NO visual of what she was going to look like except for being short with no but-didn't even know what color hair she had! She's a tiny gal, with a nice Georgian accent! We took quite a few pictures and I'm hoping to get the roll finished in the near future (my nieces 1st bday is coming up on the 17th, so should be there that I finish the roll, so be patient with me). We didn't have lunch, just a meeting, as they were hungry and stopped along the way. Eli and Lauren attended the festivities with me. I wanted to be inspired to bake something Saturday, but just couldn't get up the will to do so-but, I did take her some STARBUCKS FRENCH ROAST COFFEE, a bottle of agave nectar, a couple packets of Stevia to try and a serving of the Ballboostas (spelt snack). I took pictures of the group that I've been lucky enough to meet with so she could see you all, all but VIV, sorry VIV, I don't know WHERE I placed those pictures, but I turned the house and dining room table upside down. On my 3rd try, I found the picture of NANCE which I had given up hope in finding-so NANCE, she got to see you, Dan and the kids:) She gave me a picture of her and Craig from Xmas time and boy, you can see a BIG difference since than, esp in her face-it's amazing. I'm going to find the pics of VIV and send NANCE'S pic, AMSERS and send them to QUILTER and pray she doesn't mind posting them up for me;) The pics I took of AMSER & ME, I will have done on disk so I can upload those myself. Oh yes, I also got to tell you about BO, he's like a porcupine in dogs clothing-his fur is sharp, some wire-haired something or other (unknown source)-he's like the King of the Castle in the RV! We spent about 15 minutes together and then they were off to the Keys. Hoping they have good weather as it's been storming here since 5pm! Anyhow, if you ever have the chance to meet AMSER, whether she's RVing through your town, or you are going through Savannah-do try-you'd find it as much fun as I did!!!

It's MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY!!! Here's my contribution! I think it's a good one!

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

THERE IS A WAY

Always keep in mind that there is a way to get where you desire to go. What you can imagine is possible. Otherwise you could not have imagined it. Achievement is not a matter of "if." It is a matter of "why" and "how."

There is most assuredly a way. Your deepest desires are not empty. They are not without meaning. They point the way for your efforts. There is a way out. There is a way through. There is a way leading to whatever you can imagine for yourself.

There is a way to what you desire, because the essence and value of what you desire is largely composed of the path you follow to achieve it. When you have the desire you will, without fail, have the means to fulfill that desire.

Act with assurance, with confidence, with faith. Though the efforts may be difficult and the setbacks many, with each moment the goal is more completely fulfilled.

Ralph S. Marston, Jr.

FROG, we'll just have to keep trying for those fares-I'm not giving up on ya!!! Hmmm, I don't remember (old age) if it was I who started the FARTAY ROOM, but I can surely tell you, I'll be in that one after the PARTAY ROOM! I'm hoping more will come, right now it's me, BOB & NANCE! The ratios are no more than 30% from fat, 40% from carbs and 30% from protein-you could do, say 25% fat, 45 carbs and 30 protein, or something similar. Special K has a GI of 54 (glucose based) which is moderate or low, depending on who you go by. I guess with the milk, it would bring the GI down a bit. I couldn't find an exact answer on WHY it's okay, but here's something I found that may help shed a little light on the subject:

Q: Is there any good low glycemic cereal?

A: When I think of a low Glycemic Index, I immediately look for longer chain carbohydrate structures or complex carbohydrates in relationship to shorter shain or "simple sugars". Here is a summary of cereals you may want to consider with respect to each one's sugar to complex carbohydrate ratios: NAME OF CEREAL SUGAR TO CARBOHYDRATE(GRAMS) RATIO-% Shredded Wheat .3/16.70 1.79% Oatmeal .9/25.00 3.60% Cheerios 1.0/23.0 4.30% Wheat Chex 2.0/37.0 5.40% Special K 3.0/21.0 9.52% All Bran 10.0/44.0 22.72% Nutlettes 4.0/15.0 26.66% All of these have a fairly low Glycemic Index. The amount and type of fiber has much to do with the effect of the GI systemic response. More fiber and more types of fiber will each slow sugar absorption significantly. I have 591 cereals in my data analysis base and only chose the above because I wanted you to see a comparison. Buckwheat cereals in general are listed nutritionally sound and are reported to have a low Glycemic Index. Buckwheat is reported to contain 100% complex carbohydrate with no simple sugars. There are, as with any food source, commercial prepartive additives that may enhance sugar content, just be sure to check the ingredient panel. Generally speaking, if your simple sugar content is 25% of the total carbohydrate ingredients and it contains at least 3 grams or more fiber per serving, the glycemic response will be minimal.

NANCE, nope, no STARBUCKS meeting, but brought STARBUCKS to ANN!!! Guess what will be coming for you in my suitcase to VEGAS?? Yep, you'll be getting some too!!!

FLY, I have to agree with FROG about your friend-I think she's jealous and doesn't want to see you succeed where she wasn't able to do so. Stick to your guns and DON'T give in to that beer, or anything else-show here it CAN be done-and it's going to be done by you! Maybe you can get her back into the swing of things-I'm sure as you lose more weight, she's going to get even more jealous and envious if she doesn't get back with it, or something else. Congrats for getting hubby out there-more quality time together:) Hmmm, my family like WW Pancakes-and that says a LOT about my cooking! What did you use, a mix or something you mixed yourself? What are you finding on the fitday.com that makes you wonder about the fats???

SEF, great that you found WW PITA! I love pizzas on them! If they happen to go stale on you, make pita chips-very yummy! I hardly ever throw pita away! They can make great replacements for tortilla chips when you want some salsa!! You mentioned pictures-I have stacks, not labeled, no dated-just too many to tackle. My Grandfather is the same, but at least I know who I have in my pictures, some of his, no idea! I love looking at them though-brings back great memories of days longggg agooo.

SPARKLE, thanks for the congrats:) Keep up the great work, but please don't over due it. It's good to give the body a day or two of rest they say!!! Sorry, I can't provide much on the running, mine are more huffing and puffing jogs;) Though you asked about the Gatorade and the OJ, probably the only thing different I can say is that the OJ is natural-other than that, both have sugars, both are going to raise your GI, etc. etc. As usual, I say, whatever works for you!!!

BOB, of course you already read about my meeting with AMSER - were your ears burning-even Eli mentioned your name to her!!!! Thought about you today when I was at Diet Depot (store with lots of SB LEGAL foods) and thought about what a blast you'd have there if I took you there!

CHERI, glad to see you back on line-make sure you update your address on the BIO BOARD - I've already updated my mailing list with your new address - THANKS!

RHROO, WOW, soon you'll be writing a book on how to get DH's to stay and lose on a diet!!! Seems your guidance is paying off well for him. Doesn't surprise me about your SIL and gaining the weight back after doing Atkins, many do-I haven't met a person YET that has kept the weight off they lost from that diet. Don't worry about what the others keep saying-I hear the same crap too.

SEF, I have posted a WW TORTILLA recipe in the past-came across another one last night, will compare the two-do you want the recipe???

FILLISE, please keep us posted on how things go tomorrow-our prayers are with you! Not only will I be thinking about you during surgery, but wishing you a HAPPY 1 YEAR SB ANNIVERSARY!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

VIV After posting about the pics when I started this post, I kept going crazy about them-guess what??? I FOUND THEM!!!! They were in Eli's pictures-I forgot I started that role and he finished it with pictures from Montreal at Easter-so I have them!! I am going to ship them off to QUILTER when she returns from her trip and then will ask her to ship those 3 pictures off directly to you so you can keep the copies. Sorry I had misplaced you!

I have a few things to get done before the day passes by me-not to mention a hectic week to get Lauren ready for camp. I usually have her all packed and ready to go weeks before, since she's only going for 4 weeks, the excitment of her going just isn't there as it is in 8 weeks-so I've been really lax on doing what needs to be done-and she leaves Sunday morning. I may not post as much as usual this week, so i hope you understand that it's going to be hectic for me. Also, the BIG BOY (Eli) will be celebrating his bday on Friday (the last year of his 40's-the old goat) so my Friday will probably be busy as well-can't imagine what I would do if I had to do all this AND work!!!!

Please remember, TOMORROW NIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST Do try to be there if you are able!!!

Have a wonderful day and a fabulous week!!!!

Good Morning!

Have to go back to work today. Despite the circumstances of being off work, it was nice to spend time with the kids! Today will be hectic, as all Mondays our in the Doctors office, I'll get my SF Vanilla coffee drink and deal with it!

Fly
I had a similar situation with one of my friends, and they were very aggressive about me having a drink, like "It's happening".
This is a friend who knows how I have been sturggling to stay on plan...just reminded me of HS when a friend wanted you to do something you know you shouldn't do. Just say "no" and let her deal with it...if she says anything say "I can't believe your making such an issue over a drink". You'll be fine!

BOB
I did like Brother where art thou and liked the music alot too.
I was thinking about getting the sound track. I love all different types of music. I really want to find out what type of music they use for the FLORIDA tourism industry commercials....it's like a
violin and a bass cello (sp?)..real light and happy. They also use the same type of music on the country time lemonaide commercials....I thought maybe it was bluegrass until I rented some cd's from the library. Can't quit narrow it down! Nadia (the other kid :) )and I saw the Wedding Planner at the theater and she immediately had to rent it when it came out on video. I was secretly hoping she'd end up with the Italian guy. I thought when he made the doll house she would have a change of heart! Although Matthew certainly is easy on the eyes! Son is doing much better, taking less and less pains meds each day! We watched Turner and Hooch last night, and I cracked up all over again! Did you catch Debs "Ballboostas" treats...didn't want to let that one go!!!! Oh yes, the Nancemesiter has had her coffee and is mentally alert!

Debs
Glad you got to meet Ann. Sorry to hear that the film will take so long to get developed and then......to get sent off to get scanned!! With the way you procrastinate it may be December before we actually get to see those mug shots!:D

Sef
Did I tell you I found the Sweet-n-low chocolate syrup? It was at the very bottom shelf in the diabetic section of the store! I was so thrilled! Now I have to learn about limit setting! Your career sounded very rewarding. I assume you are retired now, and sound like you are enjoying yourself! It's nice to have family around! I love mine, don't know what I'd do without them!

GATORGAL
Where are you?????, I've sent you e.mails, I've begged and pleaded...please, please let us know if everything is o.k.! This isn't like you not to post for so long!

Well, time to get ready for the day. Talk with you gals later!

Good Monday morning everyone :)

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

I was busy sewing this weekend. Have almost finished the curtains I am making for my trailer. I bought some clip on rings as I thought they would be easier than having to sew on 6 doz rings but they won't hold to the fabric so now I'm thinking of making some eyelets with my buttonhole attachment so I can fit them in. A lot of work for curtains that are only sixteen inches long! I had plastic rings sewn on the old curtain but some are broken and I can't find anymore to match.

I got off to a good start this morning by doing 3 miles on the SB. I have to get my butt moving again as I've been neglecting the exercises lately. I just find it difficult to get in exercise on the days that I am working so I try to make up for it on my days off. Hope to get out to badminton this afternoon.

Deb - Down to 126 - WOW. The only reason I take the kids to McD's is because they have a play area that the kids love. I certainly wouldn't go there for the food although the kids do like it and it's relatively cheap. Usually when I take them there I try to eat before I go. I searched their menu for something decent but didn't see one salad item. That's great that you got to meet Amser. Hope to see some pics soon. Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Frog - I've been using FITDAY and I find that they give such high fat content in most meats. I can't believe it can be so high even in a very lean piece of meat.

Fly - Sounds like your friend is trying to sabotage your efforts. She is probably jealous of you. I'm sure you can stay strong and resist. Too bad you didn't like the WW pancakes. Have you tried making french toast with SGWW bread. This is a legal alternative and I think taste better than the ww pancakes. I made the Spicy Lasagna tonite and it turned out good. I will post the recipe soon as I get it typed up. I agree with you on Fitday - their fat calculations, particularly for meat, seem extremely high. Although I checked another site and their figures were as high or in some cases even higher than Fitday. I only found one beef entry that was relatively low on Fitday so I will have to try and find it again the next time I have beef. That lentil soup sounds good.

Sef - I used to sew a lot, now I only sew when I have to. I enjoyed making things for my daughter when she was little. I also made some things for myself, partcularly pants as it was often difficult to find pants that fit. That was in my skinnier days. Once I gained weight it took too much fabric and it just wasn't economical anymore. Sounds like you had a very considerate dh. I've been working in geriatrics for the last 10 years. I enjoy working with the older people and certainly don't find it depressing. We have a good Recreational staff and they have lots of activities for the residents both in the facility and frequent outside trips. Before that I worked with the physically handicapped for many years but they closed the hospital as they wanted to get the residents out into the community. It's too bad it closed as it was like one big family with lots of activities and outings for the residents. I know some of them are happy to be out in the community but quite a lot of them were quite happy where they were. Anyway that's progres I suppose.

Rhroo - That's great news that your hubby is doing so well. It must give you a good feeling that your are helping him to eat healthy and exercise. I wouldn't worry too much if he wants to nibble on carrots - I assume you are talking about raw carrots and these have a gi of only 30 according to Montignac. It is the cooked carrots that have the high gi.

All for now. Have to get to the store. I'm going to look in another store for some plastic rings for my curtains. It's either sew on 72 rings of make 72 mini buttonholes.

Later

Good Morning All

Haven't read all the posts so I have to catch up, but unsure if I'll be able to. Going to Cedar Point tomorrow so will be busy tonight. Doing good here, got rather burnt yesterday on the river and then went on Lake Michigan for fireworks. Couldn't believe how shallow the river was, we sheared a pin on the boat motor by hitting a stump. Then we got up a little farther and it was only 6 inches deep. We were totally shocked it's usually never that shallow. So we turned back around and left, did catch a 20 inch pike though. That was fun I really enjoyed that. I caught a little sucker and had to throw him back. Didn't get home until 1:30 am last night and got by _ss up this morning at 5:30 to go to work. YUK!!!! Pretty tired today and will be going to bed early tonight.
Did okay on the food over the weekend, but could've been better it just seems like go, go, go and I haven't been grocery shopping and running out of food in the house. Drank a few beers, but didn't affect my weight at all. THANK GOD!!! Actually have cut back quite a bit, so it must of helped.

Well done rambling on and on. Everyone take care and probably won't talk to you much the rest of the week.

This will be short. I hope to get back on tonight for a longer post.
Ijust wanted to let everyone know that I am back on track and back down to 241--my low.

I hope to do a little writing tonight about what this last year has meant to me. I'll try to post it either tonight or in the morning.

Thanks to everyone for their good wished on the surgery tomorrow. It will be tomorrow afternoon so it will probably be wednesday or thursday before I post afterwards.

Deb--congrats on the new low--looks like you are doing the chunks thing too. Can you hear them as they are falling off your body? Hopefully even with TOM fluctuations you will be able to stay at or below goal!

Hey Y'all!

Got Michael off to school in a flash and without a hitch today. Came back and got in my walk, just walked, no jogs. Must of slept wrong, my should blade is aching this morning. With being up and dressed already, there are no excuses for me NOT to walk-unless we have extrememly early plans, or the weather is bad, I'll be walking!!!

On June 19th, I wrote down the predictions my WEIGHT COMMANDER gives me for the next 90 days. On 6/19 my weight was 129.5-for 7/19-the prediction was 126.25-it will be interesting to see what comes up on that date. 8-17 was 124.25 and 9/16 is 123-which I REALLY wouldn't mind having that! Of course, these predictions change every single day-I wrote these down because they seemed to be numbers that sounded achievable.

NANCE, I'll surprise you, I'll have those pictures loaded up on the computer before VEGAS! Seriously, I'll have the film done before the end of the month;) Glad we got in a short chat this morning!!!

ROSALIE, hmmm, I'm surprised that the McD's in Canada doesn't have salads-they sure have them down here. I know the kids like going there, what kid doesn't?!? Well, maybe the fish sandwich is a lot better than here in the states! I'm sure that one time won't make the scale go up:) Good luck with your curtains-I envy anyone who can sew-my limit is a button:rolleyes: So, how are you planning on celebrating your birthday???

RALY, have fun a Cedar Point tomorrow! You rafting trip sounds fun, even with the few snags you encountered.

FILLISE, glad to see things are going in the right direction!!:D Keep it up!! Again, good wishes for tomorrow, my thoughts are with you. Hmmm, chunks, I'd love that if my thighs would just fall off, my love handles, my flabby chunks on my arms! Nah, I don't hear them, but some days I sure take notice of hearing the call of the potty and it seems in one way or another, the lbs are being flushed down the toilet;) Can't wait to read your 1 YEAR SYNOPSIS!! Have to give it a catchy title:)

I'm outta here for the day. Eli is at work and the kids are going to be with their Dad this evening, so I'm headed out for a while, won't be back til this evening.

If you are interested in being involved in the ROUND ROBIN TELEPHONE CALLS please, make sure you e-mail me with your telephone address!! I'd like to get this going sometime this month:)

Again a reminder that TOMORROW IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST and it's also TUESDAYS TIPS so if you have any great tips you'd like to share with the board, please, try to post them tomorrow.

I'll check in with you all tonight!

Let's see, went to NH, took gd to work, went to Sam's, put away groceries. Although not the 40# container of Kitty Litter. I put it in the cart and in the trunk, I ache so it can stay and ds will take it out. At any rate, it is now time to rest and what better way, short of a lie down, than w/ yo'all.

Deb - Found the Tortilla recipe on the Board, but if you'd like to post the second one for comparison, that would be nice. How do you make the chips? Just cut in wedges and put in oven? Spray lightly w/ a little oil, salt and then oven? How about Cajun
seasoning or Taco? HMmmmmmm. I used to buy Bagel chips.

I made baking powder biscuits using SGWW flour. They were a little crumbly and dry. I did add extra baking powder, I think they could also have used more shortening. I also thought if I had used regular WW flour they might have been less coarse. I will
say this I made two casseroles w/ biscuit tops. The WW one is gone and the regular one is still in fridge. Any thoughts on flour. Reg WW flour contains only I'll have to post the casserole recipe
when I perfect the biscuit top. WW. DIET DEPOT? How cool!

Nance - Glad son is improving. When the pain is no longer there to remind him to take it easy. He will discover "I have nothing to do!"

Glad you found syrup. To me it seems a little goes a long way. I don't think I use as much in a glass of milk as I did w/ good ol' Hershey's. Usually tho I use it for choc or mocha shakes.

Yes, I'm retired. With back and arthritis I can no longer do the work. Pushing wheel chairs, repostioning patients or supporting them while they walk is hard work!! Hmmm, maybe a job as Activity Director on a cruise ship!

I am so lucky that I have the family I do. Dh and I must have done something right! And dil is like a daughter and friend. I have a great dd too, although I don't think we could live together.

Rosalie - Why do you need eyelets? They are clip on rings and don't need holes, at least the ones I have used don't. You could have bought curtains and shortened them, but then where would be the satrisfqaction of doing it yourself? Recreational staff is very important, a lot of clients would just sit if there wasn't something for them to do. They don't always have the initiative to start something for themselves. Altho I worked w/ head traumas and enjoyed it, I really like the geris, that's why I volunteer at the NH. We had a transitional program for the traumas to help them return to the community, but many can't and really need the structure a facility gives. It's not always
progress, it's funding. OOPS! Soapbox again!

ralynne - Sounds like the river has become a stream! We always carried a little box of pins when we had the boat. The Delaware isn't always that deep either.

Fillise - Happy Anniversary. And you're back on track! Yippee! We will all be thinking about you tomorrow.

Take care all and keep

:D

Just a quickie

Sef - I bought some clip on rings for the curtains but they don't seem to hold. I think they are meant for a finer fabric. That's why I was thinking of eyelets so I could push them through the holes. I'm still looking for the plastic rings but haven't found any yet.

Fly - I have posted the recipe for the Spicy Lasagna.

Fillise - HAPPY SB ANNIVERSARY and I wish you well for your surgery tomorrow.

All for now.

NANCE--Thanks for missing me. It’s always nice to be missed. My computer was down for a week because lightening in the area caused a spike that zapped my network card. So that took about a week before I bothered to get it fixed. Then I got busy with other stuff, and it started to be a habit not to get to the computer.

I saw SolShine the other day at the gym where we both work out. She looks great, but is still discouraged because she is not losing at the rate she had hoped. I’ve started walking on the TM more faithfully, and hope to get in 5 days of 3 miles. I lift weights 2 days, and the other 2 days are Sunday and Tuesday, when I work or teach and am so busy that I know, realistically that I couldn’t get in that walk.

BTW, Nance, check my e-mail info on the bio board. I changed it recently and so you may have been sending to my old address. That is probably why I never received your e-mails.

Have a great Monday, y'all. It is raining here today. A nice steady rain, and we won't complain. We certainly need all the water we can get in this state.

Thanks for all the support everyone!!!!! Seems the gf issue was a non issue. She got sick because of drinking too many beers last night. I found that very interesting & I don't think that will be an issue tommorrow.

My motivation contribution:

He who would learn to FLY one day must first learn to stand and walk and run and climb and dance. One cannot FLY into flying.
Friedrich Nietzsche

Sparkle-22.25 miles whooo hoo. On no food? You'll be ready for the Ironman in no time.

Rhoo-Congrats to dh weight loss.

sef-40 lb bag, huh? I think that counts as weight lifting to me!!!
I missed a Poirot? Rats. Liked the bear story, too. So puzzles are how you stay so sharp!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSALIE 3 MILES on sb. :) Btw, what's sb? skateboarding? Thanks for sgww tip. I'm going to use it.

R-lynn-Glad you had fun & didn't get stuck in the river. I hear sunburns are going around. Take care!

Fillise-241! Great!!! Doesn't it feel good when that scale cooperates???? Good luck on the surgery!!! It's awesome how far you've come!!!!!

Nancy-I'm going to keep that comeback for the next time my gf tries that same manuever (sp? where's spell check when I need it?).

Deb-pancake question? used betty crocker receipe for pancakes 1 c flour (ww), 3/4 milk 2%, 2 tbsp oil, 1 egg, 1 tbls sugar (yeah I know I threw it in b4 I realized), 3 tsp baking powder. Could it be the age of the flour. That things been in the pantry about 8 months unopened til then. I won't give up. But I may throw in some agave nectar when I get my hands on it. Going to the GNC tommorrow. Thanks for the nice e-mail. I may reconsider the RR.
I'll take a look at Fitday for what set me off there on fat. 126 & still chucks??? Ohh nooo. So much for my dream.

Rosalie-I almost forgot. Thanks for the spicy lasagna. I'm trying that out tommorrow.

Glad to hear from you Gatorgal & take care Froggy.
Goodnight fellow travelers.

Hi to Annie A. Glad to know we are the same age with 3 boys as well. And I am a newbie of 2 weeks and I think these are the best bunch of people!!! Ok, I have to admit, I don't recognize your pet name. What is it?

And to the Beautiful Orange Babe! Fear factor freaks me out. I have enough nightmares already.

Love to all Fly

I know I should get a life, but here I am again. Made supper, picked up gd from work. Did this 'n that, and here I am.

Rosalie - Oh! the ones I have are gold toned metal and I used them on cotton. I never thought about heavier wt. material. I know they came in different sizes. How about making tabs. Enough matrial left over? You could hold them down with decorative buttons that you could sew on by machine. Oh well, I guess you have to be there don't you? Hate when you think everything went so well and then run into a snag!

Anniea - You'll find a warm welcome here. Everyone is so nice. We really do offer each other support and friendship. So join us and be a "loser"!

Bob - Knew it had to be a gimmick!!! Speechless? Only if you fell off the world and then you'd go kicking and screaming!

Butterfly - I even squatted to make the lift! Know how to do it right, but some things are a little toooo much. A&E is always repeating shows, so watch for a 2 hr. Peroit. I love mysteries, but don't necassarily like to see too much blood and gore. I don't
want to watch a chain saw rip through someones head!!! A nice cleean bullet hole or knife wound or hanging or poisoning is okay. I want to use my little gray cells to figure out who done it!! I love crossword puzzles ( that snob thing, I use a pen), word games, jigzaw puzzles, haven't done one in ages, all that sort of thing. Plus am always counting for stitching!

Okay time to read the paper and do my two crossword puzzles there, plus they have a couple of other word games. I have to get stitiching too.

Take care all.

Shirley.

Hi Annie - Welcome to the board. There's a great friendly bunch of gals here. If you have any questions just ask, someone is sure to have an answer for you. I am glad to see another Canadian on board.

Fly - Have you tried SGWW Pastry Flour for your pancakes? This is made from soft wheat and is better for cakes, cookies etc. BTW - sb stands for stationery bike. I don't think I would be safe on a skateboard although I wouldn't mind giving it a try!

I haven't been posting, but I do come and read everyday. Been having a hard time staying OP 100%. Serves me right for breezing through the first 4 months of this WOE without any major problems. Summers have always been more difficult for me eating-wise with special summer foods and hectic schedules. When it gets hot and muggy out I would live on ice cream and cold creamy sweet things to the exclusion of everything else. It's been hot and humid here the last week or so. Very dry, also; about a month since we have had a good soaking rain. I'm out watering my plants twice a day!

BOB - when are you coming to Wisconsin with that wagon so I can climb up in the seat with you? I can't wait much longer!!!!

Deb - you are awesome. Figure out a way to bottle that determination you have and you will be the next Bill Gates! Great job you have done--a true motivator for the rest of us.

Welcome Anniea - Another Canadian! Cool! Most people think Wisconsin is in Canada anyway! We have a bichon also. She's 13 months old and full of p*** and vinegar! My son plays pretty aggressively with her and she can get a little agressive herself. Other than that, she is really cute! and much different when my son is gone! She's doing a "buzz" as I'm typing from the kitchen to the family room!

My DS is calling me to help him with something so I must go. Have a great SB Tuesday!

Hello everyone.....how is it going???

Had a quiet weekend and didn't get much done. I didn't even get to walk last Friday and Sat. I had gotten a new tape "thin Thighs and did it last Wednesday. I was ok on Thur but by Fri I was hurting. I even found that I stopped drinking my water cause trying to "sit" hurt to much. THis is one time when being a guy would be an advantage.

I am really thinking that as much as I would like to join ou all in Vegas...I probably won't be able to ....my garage door broke today, and I had already planned on getting my floors done. And there is only so much money to go around.

This board is so busy...it is hard to keep up....and getting to bed early. Which is where I am headed..but I wanted to say hello to all and keep up the great work.

Good night

Hey Everyone:yawn:

Just got home, very long day, will explain tomorrow and reply to all the posts sometime during the day.

ANNIE, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!! I'm sure I can speak for all of us in saying we're glad you joined us. Please don't hesitate to ask us any questions, this group is eager to help. Glad to have another Canadian on the board with us - we have family that live in St. Laurent-so hopefully, when we get up there one day, I'll get to meet you. Right now, I'm working on getting to Calgary to the Edmonton Mall and to Eli's sister in Toronto-Montreal will be 3rd on the list of places to get to! One of my favorite stores is there-ADONIS!

Okay, I must get to bed-don't even know if I will have any energy to walk in the morning-wish me luck!

NITE!

Hi ladies!

Wow so much to catch up! I’m going to have to skim. Over the weekend Weight Workshop has simply exploded with posts! We used to be quite small, and now I’m having a hard time keeping up just with that. But it’s all good.

Deb Sending you lots of energy for that walk tomorrow morning!!!!

Nancy I thought “O Brother Where Art Thou” was rather strange but funny in a very dry sort of way. Definitely killed my crush on George Clooney that I got from “Outta Sight!” (I thought Three Kings was really good, but Martin says it sucked.)

Froggie thanks for the articles! I haven’t had a chance to read them yet but I will let you know what I think, cause I really need some help on this subject! (of hydration) And thanks again for the advice. Your “marathon training team” sounds awesome! What a great idea!

I’m going to be in NC the weekend of the 27th and will email you with details, it’s getting way close now! I also met another chick from Weight Workshop who lives in DC so I might get to meet her too!

Fly your lentil soup “recipe” sounded great. I have some split peas I am trying to figure out what to do with right now. Good luck with hubby...change can be difficult but it will get better! Thanks for the advice on the camel pack, that is a good idea for me especially as I start doing more stuff outdoors, and I’ll look out for cute Marines!!! ;)

Oh I didn’t have no food on my 22 mile bike ride. I started off with no food, until I thought I would die and had that balance bar and gatorade, which tided me over until a long leisurely lunch right after the turnaround point. Easy pace!

I don’t know if I mentioned this, but my next big goal is to bike all the way around the perimeter of the island. I think it’s 140 miles, and I mean ALL the way around, Kaena Point and all. (I live on Oahu) It will take me 3 days at a moderate pace and I think I will pack stuff on my bike, sleep on the beach, don’t even bring a tent! It’s going to be so awesome! The only thing is, even though I could do it alone, it would be a much more wonderful journey with somebody, and I don’t have any friends willing to commit to that kind of goal right now, at least in Hawaii. Maybe one day I can get my friend from DC to come back to Hawaii and do the journey with me.

Susan Congrats on the 1 year anniversary! How awesome! And what progress you’ve made in that time. Good wishes for your surgery from me too however late.

Hi Gatorgal! Nice to see you back. Computer fried by lightning boy that sucks. You are SolShine are so lucky to live near each other! Good luck with the treadmill...your workout schedule is the same as mile, 3 miles 5 times a week on the treadmill, and 2 weight lifting sessions per week. So far (14 days now!!!!) I have been sticking to it, actually working out every day, except some days I’ll do 2 or 2.5 miles, and only one weightlifting so far. But roughly I’m sticking to it for the first time in months and I feel GREAT! Definitely making a difference quickly when we stick to the routine.

Anniea WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!

BOB LOVED the HELLO/GOODBYE pic...omg!!!!

:-)

As I may have mentioned (spacey tonight) I haven’t done my weights for weeks ah, maybe MONTHS? I don’t know, perhaps intimidated by the heavier weights and actually having to work instead of just pretending. Well, when was it, Saturday I actually got in there and did my routine and I felt like a virgin all over again, although I could do about the same amount of weight. It was a totally kick *** workout.

In fact, lately, I have been thinking so much about my workout progress that it actually took my mind off of my weight obsession for a few minutes, which is good because the scale is quite firmly stuck at 150.5.

Here is my approximate weight routine, which I’ve been doing without much variety for a long time now:

All exercises are done for 3 sets, 8 to 12 reps to exhaustion:

Machines:

Low row 60 pounds
Lath pull down 80 pounds
Triceps pull down 35 pounds (?)
Chest press 80 pounds

Free weights (dumbells)

I'm having a hard time describing these exercises but I do about 5 or 6 different types with 8 to 10 pound weights

Sometimes, bench press 30 to 40 pounds

Assisted chin dip 5 reps, 2 sets

Abs – usually 50 slow, concentrated reps on that thing where you rest on your arms and do leg lifts, or crunches. Sat I did 55 which was absolutely the point of exhaustion!

I need some variety! Martin has this great book on fitness, and although it's designed for men, it's very helpful and contains some weight lifting exercises I may incorporate.

:)

Do you remember how I was talking about this chick at the gym who was actually kicking my *** on the treadmill and leaving me in the dust? And that I wanted to talk to her but I just couldn't figure out how to approach her?

Well, a few days later I saw her in the locker room but I just feel too weird talking to people there.

This morning she stepped on the treadmill next to mine and was warming up and I was cooling down. I was still kinda scared of sounding stupid but I was thinking, hey, you can't possibly pass up this moment! Aren't you ashamed of yourself?

So I casually take off my headphones to grab my water, and say, "Excuse me." She turns toward me. I say, "Are you training for the marathon this year?"

"Yes I am!" she replies, very friendly and surprised that I asked.

"I saw you in here the other day; you put in a good run." (Nothing about kicking my ***)

So we chatted briefly, this is her first marathon on Dec 9th, and then I took off so I wouldn't interfere with her workout.

I just think it's really cool because I have a hard time approaching people, I'm always afraid I'll say something stupid and/or be bothering them. But it's really not so difficult! (Of course, she was looking at me funny later, probably thought I was hitting on her.) ;)

I'm trying to take advantage of my opportunities. You never know when meeting a casual stranger can change your entire life.

:)

Today’s run: came in at 30:50 but I raised the incline 1 notch for the last mile (ran at 5.5, slowed from 6) so it was the best run I’ve had in a long time, very even and consistent without slowing to a walk (or hanging on the sides of the treadmill with my legs dangling as I’ve been known to do.) ;)

I went back to the gym after work to do my weights. I worked late so figured it might be safe. Well it was the most crowded ever! I’m very claustrophobic and not to mention don’t like people ;) so I just couldn’t deal with it. I’m feeling quite energetic so I might go tonight now that it’s late, but no promises to myself.

:)

And finally, food! I have been replacing starches with frozen mixed vegetables in most of my meals except breakfast for these past two weeks. I buy just BAGS of vegetables and just toss them in the micro or on the stove, and it couldn’t be easier!

Tonight I had some of my special yummy Oriental vegetables from Costco with a little bit of steak leftover from last night, and some almonds. The veggies come with this yummy sugary sauce packets and I was really getting tired of the same old taste when it comes to veggies, so I used JUST enough to lend some flavor (a tablespoonish) instead of dumping in the whole packet. It was yummilishous.

Another “trick” is to give myself the opportunity to eat as much as I want so that I don’t feel deprived. I sometimes let myself stay hungry, but every day or so I have to have a satisfying big meal, and stop when I’m full but not uncomfortable. Well, tonight’s dinner as I said was mostly veggies, piled in my bowl and I ate what I wanted, which turned out to be HALF!!! (Plus picking on some fruits and a hefty hunk of cheese.)

I made two loaves of muffin bread, more like cake, tonight. My first attempts at baking ended up being very, very dangerous (I would eat the whole batch at once!) so I have been careful. But last time I made some fruit nut bars, they actually lasted me a whole week so I felt brave enough to try again. One loaf has prune puree, chopped prunes, and a buttered top, and the other has applesauce, unsweetened coconut, and almonds. Both have lots of cinnamon! They smell like heaven but I am determined not to even TASTE any tonight! The almonds make for a “complete” meal when I have to grab something fast for breakfast.

I think I’m doing better at not blowing through a whole batch of bread in one night is that I have a strict rule of NO STARCHY CARBS (not including dairy and fruit) in the evenings. This has been working very well for me. I have limited time to eat in the day, so I can only do so much damage.

:)

Martin says that the best time to have protein is right after a weight workout, because when the muscles are pumped, they are best primed to absorb protein. I have doubts about whether protein powder is actually usable by the body, since it’s so refined, but it seems to work for thousands of bodybuilders! I don’t want to build too much bulk, but I would like to have definition, some muscle bulk to burn calories and raise my BMR, and a strong, supple trunk to help my running form. So yep I’m interested in building muscle! So I’m doing the protein powder and, like the lifting gloves, it just SEEMS cool...lol! I mix the vanilla flavor with water, ice and a bit of Splenda and it was pretty good!

Also, as you all know, I’ve been into watching professional boxing to my own amazement. Well, I was reading up in this book by Men’s Health on boxing as exercise, and it’s supposed to take twice as much energy as fast running in the middle of a round. So if I can find the setup, I’m actually considering learning to box!

:)

Okay I have definitely rambled on long enough. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Love,

Chris

Just got in from a run. Only went 2 miles, but am doing them to increase my speed. Ran 2 in 20 minutes!!! :spin: . The 2nd leg I had the dog which slowed me down a tad (DH had her the first mile). I think next time I will leave her at home and see you quickly I can do a mile. I am right at a 9 minute pace, something I NEVER thought possible. I'm so proud of myself.

Gotta get in the shower to head out for work. Am planning on being at "chat" tonight.

See y'all there!

Peace,

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Well, it's day 2 of SB and the scale is down 1.5, but I must admit that I had just put on 3 lbs last week so I expected them to come off pretty fast. Here in Quebec, we follow the Montignac Plan and not SB, but from what I gathered, it is the same. Have any of you heard of Michel Montignac? I have also heard of Sommersizing which I believe is also close to SB. Do I have the right info? Bye for now Annie

Hello All.

I wanted to say Happy Anniversary to Fillise and Happy Birthday to Rosalie!

All is well for me, I'm back on plan and hoping the scale shows me back at 155 in the morning. Thanks to Debelli and her milk and ice smoothies I am drinking more milk and actually am starting to prefer them to ice cream!

One of my dearest friends is coming over to help me start meditating and eventually begin Tai Chi with me. I've found that more than something that expells energy quickly like the martial arts I was studying, I need something to slow me down and bring me back in focus.

For you Catholic gals out there, do you have any suggestions for Women's Devotional Books or Bible Study?

For now that's it for me! Have a terrrriFIC Tuesday!

GOOD MORNING ALL!!!

WELCOME ANNIEA!!! You'll like these ladies. I haven't posted much in a few days and still catching up.

Still haven't been back on my workout schedule and need to. So busy last night after work that I didn't sit down until I went to bed at 10:30. Making food for the trip and getting all the bags around of clothes and stuff. Made some creamy cucumber salad Oh so good for a snack, tuna fish, cut up tomatoes, cukes, onions, got my cheese, cottage cheese, bread and all the good stuff out. So no junk food for me for 3 days while I'm down at the park. Lots of water in the cooler already too. I was a bad girl last night because I never had time to eat dinner, so I had 8 pizza rolls of my sons for dinner and kept on working after that. Never ate anything else though, wasn't even hungry TOO BUSY to think about it I guess.

Haven't gained any pounds back and clothes are getting looser. So must be doing something right. Been watching portion size real close too, but haven't been drinking enough water.

Well FROG & SPARKLE hats off to you both for the running your doing. I need to get back into that too. Use to run and wasn't on SB but lost weight and looked really good, toned that rearend real nice.
Well gotta get back to work. All take care. Talk to you probably this weekend sometime.

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone:wave:

I'm still pooped, wish I was in bed still, but have to get Michael off to school, not sure what's going to be for the day - Eli's off, but we have a ton of stuff to do around the house today that we'll stick close to home I think.

My long day yesterday consisted of me and 3 other people helping Sharon get her belongings from her house. For NEWBIES, she's a friend of mine that I've known since I was about 6 years old (for about 33yrs) that's going through a bitter and nasty divorce. I haven't mentioned her in a long time because her ex was going onto her computer name and delving into things and I didn't want to mention much here on this board since he probably lurked/lurks-so I'll keep this just at that, just in case. We went with the Police and he wouldn't open the door, didn't even acknowledge that the Police were there. We went to dinner and went back to the PD and they called him and he wanted 45 minutes notice before we could go over, for what, I haven't a clue, he had her stuff by the door but wouldn't let her go into the bedroom for other things-it's a mess really-but they are suppose to be going to mediation next week, so hopefully, it will be over soon. Anyhow, I didn't get home til really late, and I just was too pooped to do anything but wolf down some food and climb into bed. Dinner was a plain salad of lettuce with gorgonzala cheese sprinkled on it-it was a pizzeria they all picked to go to-need I say more?

I don't know about you all, but I sure had a tough time choosing what to pick on the poll. I sat there for 5 minutes trying to decide. I chose boobs, but really should of picked height. Okay, actually, I wanted to pick an option that said "I can't just pick one!" , but I purposely left off that option because I know most people would of chose it.

Will I walk today? Hmmm, well, I will get dressed, but all depends on how I am feeling after I take Michael to school-at this moment my mind says I should walk because of WIW tomorrow, my body says it's not going to cooperate-lets see who wins! I'm not too hopeful for tomorrow's WIW, TOM is due tomorrow, so the scale may go up, up and away!!!

FILLISE-GOOD LUCK WITH THE SURGERY!!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!:)

SEF, I'll get that other tortilla recipe out and see if there is even a difference between the two. I made the biscuits I had posted long ago and my kids loved them, that says a lot for me AND the recipe:) I've found so many good recipes lately, I wish I could get more inspired to try a few, but maybe it's good that I don't. Most of what I want to try are desserts and I seem to have a problem with those, even if they are SB LEGAL! To make the pita chips, split the pita to make 2 rounds and then cut them in triangles with a nice or kitchen shears. You can spray them with olive oil or butter flavored cooking spray and spice them as you want to-we use a Middle Eastern spice mixture called ZAHTAR, made of thyme, sumac and sesame seeds-very yummy! You could even do some cinnamon with sweetener mixed in, though I never tried it myself. Garlic powder would be yummy (and stinky too). You just back them til crisp, not long-you can try nuking them as well, just watch them, not sure of timing. Leave them plain to use with salsa or other dips. Your casserole sounds yummy-have you posted this recipe???

GATOR, glad to see you back on the board:)

BOB, missed FEAR FACTOR, like that show. Didn't care for the new BB, so didn't watch much of it, not crazy about the people they've chosen on there this time-kids even mentioned they all seem "old". The old guy reminds me of that Downy guy with a big mouth, I think Morton Downy? Glad to hear you got your coffee. Hope you won't have any more trouble with that girl. I still don't know Eli's schedule for Oct with the convention with Starbucks, but I told him I'm going to have to make solid plans soon, with him or without him-can't wait til the last minute. I read him your message about the FARTAY ROOM and he was laughing-he said you are soooo right!!!! So the cat, or should I say fart, is out of the bag!!!

Just got home, took Michael and made myself go out for a walk-just walking, no jogs, but I managed to get in those 4.5 miles despite how tired and achey I feel!

FLY, loved the MM quote, thanks for sharing:) You didn't tell me exactly what happened to the pancakes, but I take it they didn't turn out well? I'm probably the worse one to ask on the board when it comes to cooking, but I'm sure we can figure out what happend-so state your case and let the board detectives take a crack at the mystery! I may have gotten to 126, but the arms flap like flags, the neck looks like I stole it from a Butterball Turkey, the thighs were stolen from the B& B Circus elephant and my boobs probably resemble flat pancakes-I don't know what is falling off of me, but it doesn't really seem like fat.

KAREN, I wish I could bottle my own determination that I've had on SB and make it useful in other areas of my life. I myself cannot believe that I have stuck to something for so long, it's not my nature. If you find it being hard for the summer with the ice creams, why not make your own SB LEGAL ice cream? That would conquer the cravings and let you stay OP. I think that's one of the reasons I've been able to stay OP so easily, there's always something I am able to find in place of the no-no foods.

LAMAP, glad to see you checking in - if you can't meet us in Vegas, maybe we can get you to the next meeting in FL?!?

SPARKLE, when I woke up this morning, I went to read the board and saw your message about sending me energy this morning to walk - IT WORKED!!! THANKS;) I got tired reading your workout schedule!!!!

FROG, you are surely burning rubber up there! Those are great times!!! Hope to chat with you tonight!

ANNIE, definintely know about Montignac, that's where the guys who wrote SB got their information. It's basically the same since they took his information and made a book for the US. I do like Montignac better where he recommends legal chocolate not until maintenance, too many people see on SB that high cocoa chocolate is legal and get into deep trouble with it from day one. Somersizing is also similar to SB, but it's more strict-I read that book before chosing SB because the plan doesn't allow you to eat PB, olives, avocado among some other things and also I don't like the food combining things. Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD-always nice to learn about each other on the board:)

LDBLOND, glad to hear all is doing well with you-and you are enjoying the shakes. I just found some butterscotch extract last night and can't wait to give it a try!!! Are you coming to Vegas with Nance???

RALY, kudos to you for planning for your trip well, I'm sure you'll do fine and make us all proud!!! We'll just forget about those pizza rolls from last night;)

AR, I may be headed your way next week-details to follow!!!

Gals I MUST run, have too much to do-ummm, just got off the phone with family in Tornoto and Montreal - may be going to Toronto next Thursday til Sunday morning then off to Calgary/Edmonton for 3 days-it's all up to Eli now to get the time off now-Mom's in the wings waiting so she can take care of Michael. If we go, I'm gonna need SOMEONE to start the new board on that Monday I'll be gone - any volunteers?

ROSALIE I told Eli's sister that if we are coming there that I want to meet you, so please keep this in mind. Hope maybe we can either meet when we get in before going to her house, or if possible, you can come out there. Good Morning!

Computer is down at work, which really bumbs me out. Can't check the post during the day. Dan the Man went over there and tried getting our network to come to life, but only one computer go resesitated! Of course it was at the Doctor station! Oh well, there is always lunch hour!

Gatorgal-SO glad to see you posting again!!!! This weather has been causin' havok! I'll check my e.mail address and get it changed. Thanks for the FYI! How are you doing on plan?

Fillise-In case you rad before going to the hospital "BEST OF LUCK" {{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}} Everything will be fine! Congratulations on your one year anniversary! That is so great!

ldblond-I can hook you up with the Queen on Catholics....my Mom Mary who is destined to be a saint! She has tons of Catholic books and would be happy to share her library I'm sure. Any friend of mine is a friend of hers!

BOB-Dan the Man wants to be in the PARTAY room in Vegas. I figue we can hook him and Eli up will large Columbian and they can chat about what nuts we all are! My son is going to look just like George Clooney when he grows up. We already call him "George" more than we do his real name! Wait til you see a mug shot of him. He's already a "ladies man". I call him "Pimp Daddy" because all the girls call HIM!!!! Something a good southern bell would never consider doing! Who the **** is Gabby Hayes????????? The suspense is killing me!

Annie-WELCOME!!!! Of course newbies are welcome!!! I have read all os S. SOmers books, and she has alot of great recipes. If you haven't tried the one for brussell sprouts it's a must. So simple and makes them taste great! I will have to plug that one on the recipe board. I haven't read your BIO yet, but look forward to learning about you. I heard someone mention you have a Bichon. I JUST saw a show on TV last night about BICHON's. They are sooooooo cute. I have what we call a "Floyd" :) He's 1/2 boxer 1/2 pitbull terrier and the cutest thing in the world!

Debs-What's this hair talk I hearing about. Did you actually make an appointment??? Something about "chunking"? Is it so difficult to get an extra MODE magazine and tear off one little page and send the picture to Palm Desert, CA???? What's a girl gotta do here? How did Michael's 1st day at school go? What's Lauren up to?

Sol-Where are you? Have you been working out at the gym so much that you haven't had time to post? Glad someone was a witness the Gatorgal is alive and walking! Have you heard back on any of your bloodwork???? Call that dang Dr.'s office up and ask them to send you a copy so you can share it with Nurse Nancy!

Frog-When are we going camping? We bought a new tent a couple of months ago and I'm getting cabin fever! Maybe we can pitch our gear in front of Caesars Palace??? So Spewer is unwed?
Does she have any kids (hope not)?

Sef-Is the painting all done? Home Depot Mr. came out to the house on Saturday and measured for new carpet. When we can actually afford to buy it is another thing! I have to paint first! Oh the joy! Tell your DS and DIL they can come on over and help at my place! Do you live in the country or city? You sound like you would enjoy still doing something. Maybe you could volunteer at the hospital? Or how about as a room helper at your GD school?

Well, need to sign off and get in the shower. I know I forgot someone...always do! Love you all, didn't mean it! Swear!:o

Howdy All!

Just a quick hit n run as I'm quite busy at work these days. Not complaining since that's job security! Thank you for all the kind words of support! I haven't totally caught up on the posts, but will as soon as I can.

To answer a few questions:

My thyroid is fine. I do have PCOS, borderline high blood pressure, high c-peptides (insulin) levels, but my blood sugar is normal - so I'm being treated with Glucophage trying to help off-set my chances of developing Type 2 Diabetes, my cholesterol is through the roof and I'm taking Zocor for that. (Had blood work taken again on Saturday and am waiting for results from that to come back)

I GAINED 2 pounds on the Cabbage Soup Diet (TWICE IN A ROW) - anyone remember that diet? Anyway, I absolutely DID NOT CHEAT on that thing and GAINED weight. Vince was flabbergasted as he saw everything I put in my mouth. Something is definitely wrong with my metabolism, body or something. That's why I have ended up in the Dr.'s office and that's why I'm trying anything and everything I can to get some of this weight off. (BOB, I started them on Sunday.)

I may be defensive and overly sensitive at this point, but I felt like a few comments insinuated that I wasn't doing everything I could. I drink a gallon of water a day at least 5 days out of the week (week-ends I drink a lot, but usually don't make it to a gallon). I am VERY faithful to SB plan (and always have been on whichever diet I was trying). I track my food VERY closely and even more so since using fitday. My intake averages 19% fat, 30-40% carbs, 30-40% protein. (Usually higher on the protein side) I have been walking and/or doing weights consistently 3-5 days/week (usually 4 days) for the past 4 years. Recently I have upped the intensity of these work-outs and will be going up to 6 days/week starting this week.

My calories have gone up and down as I have tried every suggested calorie level. I started at 1300/day went to 1200 to 1100 per day each for 2 weeks and was not losing. So then I tried just eating what I felt I needed to eat to keep from getting hungry and was averaging 1600 - 1700 calories per day, but fluctuated between 1700 one day and 800 the next skipping dinner if there wasn't anything convenient, SB friendly or b/c of working late. Realized I needed to be more consistent across the board with my calories and tried 1900/day at a suggestion. I lost a little, even though it was VERY hard to eat that many calories in a day. Now, my Dr. has told me to go to 1600 calories/day.

I'm very open to suggestions and have always tried whatever someone has recommended (within reason, of course), and when I do, I give it 100% effort. I'm by no means perfect, but I think that you don't have to be "perfect" to get results and I do pretty darn good. I don't cheat - I don't eat things I know I shouldn't eat and the things I do eat that might not be the best are by no means "forbidden" - (example: the acorn and butternut squash - I just didn't realize they might not be the best.)

Sorry for the long post.

FILLISE - You're in my thoughts and prayers today! Here's to waiting for good news about your recovery! Happy Anniversary, too!!

 to everyone else!!

GOOD MORNING

Annie - Yes, I have heard of Michel Montignac. I started with his book before I ever heard of Sugar Busters. The SB authors basically copied his ideas. There a few items on the FOOD INFORMATION BOARD which have been copied from his book. I switched to SB mainly because of the support boards. I have a copy of his book 'RECIPES AND MENUS' which I have just started using again to get some ideas. My weight has been at a standstill for a while and I need to do something to get it moving again.

Ralynne - Glad to hear the clothes are getting loser. That's a good sign even if the weight stays the same. Have a good time at the park.

Lara - I hope you enjoy doing Tai Chi. I did it for several years and found it very calming and relaxing. I still do it occasionally.

Lamap - Sorry to hear you were hurting so much after doing your new video. It sounds like you started off doing too much. Perhaps you could start by doing just a few minutes of the tape and increase the time gradually. Also are you warming up before starting the exercises. This is important if you are doing strenuous exercises. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Sparkle - Glad to hear you got to talk to the gal at the gym. Thinking about doing things we are unsure of is always harder than actually doing them. Hope you can find someone to accompany you on the bike trip around the island. That sounds awesome.

Frog - Congrats on the 9 Minute Mile.

Deb, Nance & SolShine- Hi. I haven't read your posts yet, will have to get back to them later. I just 'refreshed' and saw them after I had finished typing.

Gotta run. Have lots to do and have to work this afternoon.

Good Morning Everyone!

First I want to thank everyone for their support with regard to the knee surgery today. I have to be at the hospital by 12:30 this afternoon. I don’t know what time they will actually take me in, but the surgery should only take about 30 minutes (othroscopic (sp)knee surgery). I should be back home sometime late this afternoon.

More importantly for me, however, is the fact that today marks one full year of SugarBusting! This time last year I had no idea what would come from changing my nutritional habits. The biggest difference is that in the last year I have lost 59 pounds and 10 inches from my hips! I’ve literally been watching myself shrink over the last year. I have 91 more pounds to go, but I’m not really worried about how quickly I lose the weight. As long as the scale continues to go down, slow and steady is fine with me (OK, to be totally honest, I would love to break 200 by Christmas–but if I’m not quite there it won’t be a failure).

What have I learned in the last year?

The first lesson is that change is possible if you are committed to it. The first week I was on Sugarbusters! I attended a church conference where they provided lunch and dinner for us. Mostly they provided starches–pastas, rices, and potatoes. One meal the only thing I could find to eat was an apple. I was nearly in tears most of the time because I was hungry and my body was detoxing and really fighting it. But I was committed. The level of my commitment surprised me most of all! I was the one who had given up on diets and resigned myself to always being heavy. Through the year my commitment has been stronger at times and weaker at others. I know that you have to be committed to making a major lifestyle change if this WOE is to be successful.

The second lesson is that change can be scary. I remember when I hit 30 pounds (10% of my starting body weight) I began to really notice the changes in my body. I especially began to notice that my face was changing. It was losing much of its roundness and the outlines of cheekbones were becoming visible for the first time in years. Then as I continued to lose weight I began to notice lines, wrinkles, and this awful skin beginning to crinkle and gather around my neck. I was losing weight a little faster than my skin was keeping up and that excess skin was scaring the life out of me! One of the very few benefits of weighing 300 pounds is that, at 42, my skin was smooth and line-free. After all, fat filled every place a wrinkle might want to form. This development threw me for a loop. I became scared of losing more weight–as if I had to make a choice between being wrinkled or being fat. Let me tell you, I thought long and hard about that proposition! I finally resolved it when I decided that when I finish losing weight–there are ways to deal with excess skin–and I plan to use every one of them if need be. In the meantime if anyone knows of any good firming cremes, please send recommendations my way!

The final lesson is that change can be wonderful! It has been a thrill to buy clothes in ever smaller sizes. It was such a surprise the first day I discovered I could cross my legs! How thrilling to get on an airplane and not have to ask for a seatbelt extender! The greatest benefit though, is that when you make positive changes in one part of your life, they can’t help but spill over to other parts as well. When this dream begins to become a reality, you begin to ask what other dreams can I make happen? Most of you know that I am starting my own consulting business. I wouldn’t have had the courage to do this without my year on SB! I have more energy to do the things I want to do.

So in the last year I’ve learned the good and the bad about change. How it is easy and hard all at the same time. How it is both scary and thrilling. In the end it is worth it. Learning this new WOE has made me healthier, more energetic, and smaller than I used to be. I also think it has made me a little bit wiser. I know it had made me richer with my new 3FC friends who provide so much wonderful encouragement, support, and humor. Y’all are really what helps when the commitment begins to waver. The future looks great and I am ready to embrace it!

Debbie - I hope you can make it to Toronto next week and I would love to meet you. I am off work on the Thursday but I will be working the Friday day shift. The weekend I am off. Thanks for the invitation to the party. I'm not sure how I would be driving down there, I'm basically a local driver. But I would love to meet with you on the Thursday if it can be arranged. Maybe I could meet you at the airport.

Gotta run. Have to leave for work in a few minutes.

SOL I want to start with you first. You scared me, and I flew back to my post to see if it was me...ALAS....no THANK GOODNESS...you know how my mouth can be some times!
Have you noticed anything yet? ANY ORANGE PUDDLES???? I still have 8 refills on my scritp. I wish it had worked on me, because I've seen some good results on people, but I just wasn't eating a high enough fat content for it to do anything...I even tried eating a high fat meal and didn't see anything..OH WELL.....GOOD LUCK and let me know how it
works for you.

FLY Here is something for you to try next time you want
some pancakes...

PECAN CHEESECAKE PANCAKES

2 eggs separated
1 tbs splenda
1/4 tsp cinnamon
2 oz cream cheese..softened
1/4 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup finely chopped pecans

Beat egg yolks and cream cheese until smooth. Add splenda, vanilla, cinnamon & pecans...stirring to mix thoroughly.
Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Gently fold egg whites into the cream cheese mixture.
You can fry the in butter or use your favortie spray but use a non-stick pan...cook till brown..Use your favorite SUGAR FREE SYRUP

NANCE GABBY HAYES is the crotchety old man with the scruffy beard and squinty eyes who wore an old beat up hat and HAD NO TEETH! He was in all the ROY ROGERS things, and some GENE AUTREY...You would definately know him if you saw him.
He was usually with ANDY DEVINE in the ROY ROGERS shows.
You tell DAN if he's MAN ENOUGH to put up with the nonsense that will probably go on......TO COME ON DOWN!!!! He wouldn't be able to stand it in the FARTAY room...We might have to bannish DEB to that room by herself if she has the wrong things to eat!

FROGGIE Pitching the tent in front of the hotel sounds like a great idea...they would definately know THIS BUNCH HAS ARRIVED!!!

DEB OH MY GAWD!!! You've just knocked the BIG ORANGE FAN on BB!!! But you're right...he does kinda look like Morton Downey Jr...
Tell Sharon I'm thinking about her...IN HER COMPUTER???? MY GAWD...BET HE THINKS BOB IS A MAN!!!

I hope none of you are listening to Debbie when she describes her body! I wish every one of you could meet her...She sure doesn't look anything like she says she does!

FILLESE I know you're probably home by now...and I hope they gave you some good drugs...you've got to be hurting like the devil! Hope you sleep thru the night with no problems..take advantage...it's always good to have MOM around at times like this!

RALYNN I'm on a summer veggie kick too...cucs w/feta topped with olive oil dressing, tomatoe, nectarines and black plums...ham and swiss rollups and pita...YUMMMMMM I've had that both yesterday and today for lunch...It's SOOOOOOO hard to find good tomatoes in FLA and when you do, you have to scoop them up and eat them while you can get them.
GOOD GIRL on the no JUNK FOOD.... :smug:

CHRIS It's understandable that you wouldn't grasp O BROTHER....a TRUE southerner will pick up on it a lot quicker than someone who has never delt with THE OLD SOUTH and their
practices....We are a quirky bunch...

LARA Glad you've gotten yourself back on program..I'm just about there...what's scarey is that DEB wants me to come down to Miami and I just know she's gonna lock me in that fourth bedroom!! ...I just know that's why she has cleaned it out! Then she can feed me only what I'm supposed to have...Might not be a bad idea...I think I'll take the wagon...I might have to pick up a few people along the way....KAREN get that KROGER bag packed...I'll honk when I get out front...!!

LAURIE Sorry you can't join us in VEGAS...but like DEB says..definately try to make our next FLA outing..

I sure do hope I haven't missed anyone...I'm off to lurk...I'll see everyone in chat later...

IDBlond--I’m not Roman Catholic, but I would recommend any studies by Beth Moore, which you can find in a good Christian bookstore. These would be for a group study, and there are tapes and workbooks. If you want a study for just yourself, a GREAT one is “Experiencing God” which you can also get in the same bookstore.

Sparkle--Good work on the weights! I just moved up on ALL my weights, all in one session. I do 184 per leg on the leg press, v--e--r--y slowly for one set of 12 to 15. When I get up to 15 reps then I up the weight. I do a back machine at about 135# and then crunches with weight on a machine, slowly at 44 pounds for 15 reps with one or two reps holding for a count of 10. Then leg extensions at 74 pounds for one set. All the rest is upper body, arms, with pull overs and bench presses and triceps work, all with 10# per arm free weights. All these also v-e-r-y slowly (to a 7 to 10 count on the positive and a 5 count on the negative) for one set to failure or to 15 reps. The slower I do a rep the harder it is, and it is hard to resist just jerking those weights fast just to get through it!

Fillise--I had knee surgery several years ago--arthroscopic. I was working out with the weights then and so had prepared my leg to be strong. Within 6 weeks after surgery we hiked up a mountain in Tenn. The major thing I learned from that surgery is that ICE is GOOD. For the first 3 days I did little else than lay on my couch with my leg propped up on the back of the couch with an ice pack on the knee. Even at night. I think it really helped with the recovery.

SolShine--Hang in there girl. You are doing great. You just have a very special body that takes a little bit more time to “get with it.” I know that you are working hard, and will vouch for that on this board, because I have seen you there working out! Listen up, everyone, SolShine is doing her darndest to work hard!!! We all are just different and lose at different rates. I know it is not fair, Sol, but you will have a better opportunity to develop perseverance than some of the rest of us. Hang in there.

Well, I’m gonna go. It is 8 pm and I haven’t had dinner yet and have to eat 225 more calories today. So I think I’ll fix a meat sandwich. Take care.

Evening Everyone!

We just got home from running around this afternoon trying to get some stuff for Lauren for camp-I'm really dragging my butt on the ground! I actually found a great silk top for myself in the process of running through the mall. I tried the same shirt on twice since one seemed to be cut a bit funky at the bottom and noticed one had been marked down to $19.98-the other one was marked $14.98 and was better cut, so of course, I took that one to the register. She rings it up, and says it's marked down to $9.98 and it's 50% off of that! I thought it was 25% off of $14.98 which would of still been a great deal, but $4.98 was even better!!!!!!!!!!!:D I LOVE A GOOD BARGIN!!! Esp. when it's a better bargin than I even thought it was in the first place!!!

At this moment, it does seem as if we are headed for CANADA next Thursday morning-I pray nothing blows up that makes us not be able to go-and that we are able to get on the flight (going stand-by). We plan to stay with Eli's sister Nadine until Sunday morning and then fly over to Calgary and go to the EDMONTON MALL (largest mall in the world) and shop til I drop! We should leave there on Wednesday to be home Wednesday night. Hope we make it through Chicago without any trouble - anyone in the Chicago area??????????? I will be busy looking for rooms there, and most likely a car to rent-so much to do in such little time.

NANCE, I got your card today-you are so talented! I wish everyone could see how artistic you are-any way to post some of your work?? Did you write my name and address freehand???? You definitely have a job if I ever get around to doing that book!!!!! You have no idea how you brighten my day with such a simple act of kindness!! {{{HUGS}}} I have to laugh, Eli won't be anywhere near the PARTAY or FARTAY ROOMS, he'll be between the video poker and the roulette tables!!!! Hopefully, Dan likes one of the two!! I know a trip to TJ's won't be as exciting as it will be for me & BOB (esp BOB since she's never been), but I think you'll get excited when you see how the two of us can SHOP!!!! LOL! We weren't talking about hair and chunking, we were talking about FAT!! Haven't made a decision about the hair yet-I'll see if I can find a picture close to the one I chose in Mode. Hey, the role of film is ALMOST done, have about 8 more to go I think-definitely, the end of the month-will be on role #2 after going to Canada!!! Michael's first and second day of school went well, he had a quiz already-aced it. Lauren, just trying to get ready for camp and driving me nuts! How's Faris doing-I bet that cast will be fully signed soon by all his ladies! What's Nadia up to these days????? Who's going to watch the kids when you come to Vegas?? My kids are dying to go-I keep telling them...one day, one day!

SOL, the Cabbage Soup Diet is one I never tried, don't like cabbage and it makes you fart anyhow, and I do that enough without any help! I think you are doing what you can, best you can. I always say, there is NO diet out there that works for everyone-if there were, there would be one very rich person out there. Many people do well on on WW, I've done it on and off for years since I was 12yrs old and it NEVER worked after a few weeks for me, and I sure did try my best. I know how discouraging it can be. I think we all get discouraged along the way when things don't go the way we think or hope they should. I see where so many people have lost the same amount of weight as I have in a 1/4 of the time period it's taken me. Yes, I am envious and yes, I wish I too could of lost it faster than it's taken me, but then I realize how different we all are and how each of our bodies are different and react differently to different things. I guess what I am saying is I do believe, in time, all your hard work and effort WILL be rewarded! Maybe the few things you are facing medically that I don't or that someone else doesn't have to deal with, makes you lose slower. BUT, we also have to think about how you feel, both psychically as well as mentally, and again, you do what YOU feel is right for you and what makes you feel comfortable. Whatever or however you do it, we're right there to help you along the way!!!!

FILLISE, hoping to hear from your soon to know how everything went today with the surgery and how you are feeling. Thank you soooo much for sharing your feelings about this past year on SB. I loved reading how you've changed and what you've learned. Boy, can I relate to knowing how you feel about the wrinkles in the neck!!!! That will be the first thing I want to do when I hit the big 4-0! Hey, if you find that firming creme in extra duty double strength, just let me know!!

ROSALIE, so far, it's looking good! We are flying standby, so I'm hoping whatever flight we take up to Toronto, we get on it. I haven't a clue on the flights or times as of yet, Eli's sister is going to get all the information, though I am going to try and see what I can find on the internet as far as schedules go. We will be flying AMERICAN. Meeting at the airport would be fine with me-is it close to your home??? Eli's other sister may come in from Montreal by train, not sure yet-and maybe if she comes after us, we will have some time to kill in between-again, things are a bit up in the air, but I will keep you posted as things progress. Would love for you to come to her house for a longer visit-but I know it's about an hour away from the airport. I just can't imagine coming to Toronto and not being able to meet you-so this is a definite MUST!!! Now, secondly, can I bring you ANYTHING from here-like agave nectar?? Just let me know!!!!

BOB, have you yourself actually made those pancakes, and if so, how were they? They sound yummy! There's no flour in them????? Hey girl, I don't lie about the body, though I wish I could!!! It's just as described-if I sold my body on Ebay, no one could ever say I didn't put the exact description-don't you worry, I'll show you a thigh and an arm-you'll see!!!!!! Sorry, no boob shows-that's for Eli's and the mammogram lady and my Dr. only-hey, it's bad enough they have to look at them!!LOL!!!

Well, it's almost time for chat, again, here's the link to our SB CHAT ROOM

WIW didn't have me back down at my low as I had hoped, I'm still holding on to my 2 extra lbs. at 157. I know this has been my TOM and I have eaten more carbs than normal...time to sinch up the belt some more. Even though I'm comfortable at 155 I really think being focused on 150 is still in the back of my head. Would I fit into my clothes just that much better or if I gained a couple lbs. at least I wouldn't be near the old 160 marker...anyone else have thoughts like these after they thought they were at goal? Is this what you struggle with Deb?

I caught up on everyone's posts from the beginning of the week. Hello to everyone and nice to see so many new faces. I probably won't get a chance to address everyone, but know I'm thinking about ALL of you. As for the October Vegas plans, I unfortunately do not think it's in the stars for me. I have another surgery in August where I may miss 2 weeks of work and another in Oct or Nov. With this much time off, I just can't ask for more, I really, really wish I could as I would love to meet with you. As for the round robin idea it sounds inviting, if I understand it correctly we would call 1 new person a month? Please let me know.

Debelli: What a wonderful treat to meet Ann. She's such a delight here on the board. Thanks for the information on low gi cereals, it looks like I can expand my variety a little, once I've eaten the 2 boxes of Extra All Bran in the cupboard. I've also found the when craving crackers I eat dried sfww shredded wheat minis. It kind of tastes like Triscuts with out the salt and a 1/2 cup is like 10 or more mini crackers. (A late Tuesday tip, I guess). By the way, good job on getting out there and walking, especially when you really didn't want to.

Fly: Have you tried ww sourdough french toast with vanilla, cinnnamon, and nutmeg. You can use a dab of Agave for syrup or just butter, they're fantastic. Also, buckwheat pancakes are yummy too.

All of these vacations or summer adventures sound wonderful. I'm going to take my vacation via all of your experiences as I won't be taking one this year.

Gatorgal: I connected right away with what you said about getting used to being off line. With all that has been going on I find a built a pattern of not checking in, for all you newbies this a BAD HABIT, even as we get close or reach our goals, I firmly believe we need each other and the friendships that have been formed are worth every letter typed. Thank you for the information on bible study, I will certainly look into "Experiencing God"

Sparklescamp: Your bike ride around Oahu sounds like an incredible experience. Go for it! Your determination to be a better person, stronger, healthier, thinner, your achieving it all, pat yourself on the back.

Nance: I really need to connect with your Mom or ask her for some and advice on books and studies. Call or email me, I really would like to know how everything is going. How's your son doing? I really want to find a time for us all to get together and meet, and to see your house so I can help describe the major transformation it's going to go under.

SOL: Your strength and determination make you successful. I will pray for you that your Dr. can help in finding a way to make your metabolism rev up.

Rosalie: I started meditation last night and with practice I think this form of relaxation will help me find my center and teach me ways to be focused all day long.

Fillise: I've had orthoscopic surgery on both knees and was up and going within a few days. I hope you are resting comfortably and heal quickly. Thanks for sharing your look back at your 1st year on SB. You have grown so much, your honesty and determination are such an inspiration!

BOB: Your pancakes sound delightful! I've already printed the recipe. I only wish I could join the 3 (or more) of you in Vegas, but I think it's a no can do. Nance is going to have to tell me everything!

Hey Everyone:wave:

Well, I was going to take the morning off form walking, figured it was hump day, good day to take off since I weigh in before I walk anyhow-but I really felt good today and decided to save not going for a day that I didn't feel too hot, or that the weather wasn't going to let me go walk-so off I went for my usual 4.5 miles in 54:38:) I even broke in my new sneakers and faired pretty darn well with them too-just one tiny little blister - a first for me!!! Until I break in new ones, I don't realize how bad the old ones where bothering my feet.

Another first-A NEW LOW!!! I'm at 125.5 this morning-a big surprise to me because TOM is due today or tomorrow and I was sure the scale was going to be up this WIW! Happily, I was wrong! So that gives me a 1.5lb loss from last week and puts me 1.5lbs away from my cushion:)

Only a few of us at Chat last night-where was everyone-only FILLISE had a good excuse!!!!

I just wrote a whole paragraph about this trip and wouldn't you know it, I HAD to delete it after Eli's sister called. He said when she called last night that she mentioned her husband wasn't too happy that we were coming while he was going to be out of town ( I personally wanted to go when he was gone, I don't care for him at all and don't pretend to like him, it's just a personal feeling I have). Anyhow, she calls this morning and sounds so down, so I just told her that Eli felt he (her husband) wasn't happy and she said that he wanted her to make it when he'd be home - so that sure threw a larger monkey wrench into the fire! I'm only made because I told ROSALIE that I would be there before and here I am saying it will be another time - ROSALIE, I am so sorry, I promise, this is NOT how I want it to be! That to me was the most exciting part of coming to Toronto, was to meet you! NOW, our next dilema-the ticket prices are now higher to go to Edmonton-not worth it at all. And Eli made his vacation a few days earlier than we had thought, now what? He's going to be peeved when I call him at work about this! Where to go??? What to do now??? I'm at a loss!!!! :?: HELP!!!!!!!!!!:(

BOB, what did I say about Thursday??? I can't remember!!!

LDBLOND, I would try to go the other 5lbs as a cushion, but don't put any time frames or conditions on it, if it happens, it happens. Don't worry about still being up, esp if it's that TOM, I can go up 4-5lbs, which I'll probably see sometime real soon! Wish you could join us in Vegas, but of course, we understand the situation:) Yes, you have the RR idea correct-e-mail me your phone number if you want to join in to do it!

Okay, lots to do with Lauren today-so I'll check in with you all sometime later today.

Please remember, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY so if you have any good recipes you'd like to share with the board that are SB LEGAL, please, try to post them tomorrow!

Toodles!

Good morning all

Down 2 pounds this week to 202 :D - that's still 2 pounds up from pre-holiday. Just can't wait to get below that 200 mark.

Ldblond - I also snack on Spoonsize Shredded Wheat and Bran occasionally. I have stopped buying Triscuits as once I start on them I can't keep my hand out of the box! Although I was buying a generic brand that came with or without the salt. Glad you are starting to get 'focussed' with the meditation. I am sure you will enjoy doing Tai Chi once you get into it.

Sol - I admire your determination and hard work. I know how hard it is doing everything right without the results you desire but I am sure things will turn around for you eventually. There has to be something that can make it happen. I hope the new medications help.

Fillise -Thanks for sharing your thoughts on one year of Sugar Busting. You are an inspiration to us all. Hope things went well with the surgery and you are not in too much pain.

Deb - Congrats on the new low to-day. Is that the first time you have had a loss during TOM week? That was quite a bargain you got with the blouse. I just love bargains like that. Sorry to hear that you won't be coming to Toronto next week. I am sure you must be very disappointed as I am too. Missing Edmonton too. Hope you can make it another time. I was looking forward to meeting you. I live about 45 minutes from the airport so it would have been no trouble getting there to meet you.

Have to go and do some bike riding. I'm hoping to soon have a REAL bike so I can get outside and ride while the weather is good.

Bye for now.

Well, Fourth of July went well. Thank you SO much to everyone for your suggestions and encouragements!! I did a GREAT job staying away from that sugar-free bakery and really stuck with the program this week. Here's this week weigh in stats:

Start 253.5/last week 248/this week 244.5!!/ goal 150-170

SO pround to be down a whole 3.5!!!!!!! That's my biggest weekly weight loss yet!

I'm flying out to New YorK tomorrow morning to spend 6 days with a friend. I'm a little worried about how the eating will go while I'm away, we'll be eating out a lot and visiting with their family and friends around meals. I'll just do my best I guess. I can't really take my own food. Wish I would've posted this a few days ago so I could get everyone's suggestions, I'm still such a newbie to this program! But this is the last time I'll be on the puter before I head out. Anyway, I'll just do the best I can and let you all know how it goes! I'm so encouraged by my weight loss this week that I'm all psyched to do really well this week, despite the obvious challenges.

Have a great week all and I'll post when I get home!

SolShine....(((hugs)))) I'm sorry I haven't answered this earlier. I think *I* probably made some comments like that earlier to you too, I didn't really have any concept of PCOS until Kai (on the other board) posted about her experience. It's just that when I see somebody, especially somebody I like, trying so hard and not getting results, the first thing my mind does is try to come up with "solutions." Because your frustration is my frustration. I'm sure that others here probably think the same way and they are just trying to be "helpful." I hope that helps shed some light on things.

So if I did ever say anything like that I'm really sorry.....it's so true isn't it? That if somebody isn't losing weight, even though there may be another reason, we still think at the back of our brains that there MUST be something missing--she MUST not be counting up her calories correctly or working it hard enough at the gym. Very automatic and human.

I don't know what to say about your struggles. You are getting good medical care, not to mention doing everything in your power to resolve this situation, and I hope that you and your doctor find an answer soon. Most of all you don't let this get in the way of your sunny and wonderful personality! I really admire your focus and your great attitude.

Okay, really gotta run! The treadmill is calling my name!

Gotta be fast because it is ladies' group night tonight. WIsh me luck that I will keep my mouth shut when Spewer opens hers. SHe was polite enough to ask me if I wanted to ride with her, but I will certainly decline.

Finally, the scale moves!! :smug: Even though it wasn't a whole bunch, I will take it!

WIll post a long note tomorrow (have a short day at work).

WOW! Where is everyone today???:?:

The board is so quiet-you all have me worried! Bad enough I'm in a funk about this trip! You don't have any idea how bummed out I am. Eli says now that we won't be going any time soon to his sisters after this fiasco (sorry ROSALIE). I feel bad for his sister though, it's the husbands fault this all happened. I'm a pretty good judge of character and the minute I laid eyes on this guy, I told Eli, "I don't like him". Oh well, what to do, can't let it bother me like it is-doesn't help the situation at all.

I found 2 interesting food items-one is SPAEZTLE made from WW flour and nothing else but water-from the same company who makes those Ballboostas I mentioned way back (from Germany)-may try some later, they looked interesting. Also, ANNIE'S ORGANIC MICROWAVEABLE SINGLE SERVINGS MAC & CHEESE (box of 5), last ingredient is corn starch though, didn't realize it til after I bought it, but it has only the noodles, iron and the cheese sauce-the cheese sauce has 6 ingredients and the last ingredient is the corn starch-think it's okay? It has only 120 calories and 4.5 grams of fat, 15 carbs, 5 protein-no sugar. Otherwise, Michael will eat it! I thought this would be a great item to take on a trip-just need a micro:wave:!

ROSALIE, CONGRATS on losing those 2lbs, at least the scale is headed in the right direction;) Again, I'm sorry about the meeting, I feel so bad-I was all hyped up about this. I don't care about going to see his sister really, we just felt bad that no one goes to visit-hmmm, wonder why! Well, I won't give up about meeting you one day!!!

KRISTA, hope you read this when you return-CONGRATULATIONS! Looking forward to hearing about your trip and how well you did while you were away:) If you find yourself on the computer before you go and see this, e-mail me, I can give you some tips on stuff to take to eat. I always take foods when I go on a trip, it's not so hard:)

QUILTER, I did it!!! I actually sent out the pictures!!! Can you believe it??? Please let me know when you get them. I sent AMSERS address and 2 stamps-oops, just realized, I didn't send the SASE for me-sorry-will you forgive me;) I'll pay you back in Vegas!!!! You ARE still coming, aren't you???

FROG, CONGRATS on the loss-I don't care how much it is!!!! Hmm, wondering if you'll have a new Spewer story tomorrow!

NANCE, Narda and I can be slow like two old women or fast like Ninja's if were in for the kill of a deal at a store-be prepared!!!!!

FATCAT, got your e-mail-be patient with me to respond:)

Well, I can predict right now that I'll be cursing the scale tomorrow-it's WAY up, so I know TOM must be close at hand (due today or tomorrow from past experiences, at least I should be tomorrow, didn't come today). I feel bloated too! I can go up easily on the scale overnight, and it seems to have gotten an early start - yeah, yeah, I got on the scale, okay, slap me with a wet WW noodle!!!

Another reminder TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY Are there any requests for any recipes that someone is looking for???

Okay, well, I'm gonna go make something for dinner-maybe I'll be brave and try the Mac & Cheese. Hey, I can always blame a weight gain on it! I think I've only eaten pasta 3-4 times since I started SB, not something I really love.

What do you mean FILLESE is the only one with a good excuse!!!!!
I tried and tried and tried to get into the chat room....

DEB I meant is it this Thursday you were going to CANADA, but now I don't need that answer since I read that you're not going at all...I'm sorry cause I know how you wanted to get up there and shop a little! I was kinda looking forward to those "222's"
My nephew told me today that his engagement party is the last of July or the first of Aug...couldn't give me the exact date. Tracy's family is giving the party, but I will let you know just as soon as I do. I'm thinking about flying if I can lock into one of those $33 each way tickets....if not, I'll just putt over...
AND no, I haven't tried these pancakes, but they do sound good don't they? I thought I might try them this weekend. I also have a recipe for rolls made with cottage cheese, cream of tartar, egg whites etc...I'm going to attempt those and then I'll let you know if they're worth the effort.

LARA So sorry that you can't make it..Of course, none of us are locked in yet...we've still got to find that "perfect" deal...
I know you would rather be in the "FARTAY" room than go thru more surgery...I'm dure that DEB would appreciate the company in there too!

WHERE IS KIM HIDING??? WAS SHE GOING TO BE GONE THIS LONG??? I thought it was only for the weekend, but maybe I read wrong.

AND WHERE IS MS MOUTH????? Yes, NANCE, I'm TALKING TO YOU!!

CHRIS My Nephew is think about your part of the world for his honeymoon...know of any good all inclusive resorts over there?

ROSALIE Sorry you won't get to hook up with DEB for a while. She's a riot on a trip...She'll get there...just be prepared.

SOL Where are you today? I want to know how things are going with you?

WOW...DEB...THEY JUST ANNOUNCED $30 EA WAY TO WEST PALM...HOW FAR IS THAT?

KRISTA Way to go girl...Keep it up. Enjoy your trip..I LOVE NYC!!!

Well...BOB is out of words!!! :^:

WIW is a flop for me. Stayed the same. Maybe if I use a cleaver and chop off the flab it would help. Getting desperate here!

Very achy day, but did not give in this morning. I had some bread that was getting old, so made some bread pudding. It makes a nice breakfast. Then I made the WW Bagels Deb posted. I really enjoyed doing it and they are good. Then I gave in, took
a couple of Ibruprophen for my shoulder, which was killing me, rubbed it with Absorbine (we used to use it on the horses and I've used it ever since on me, is there a correlation there?) and took a nap. When I woke I felt better.

I stitched last night and then again this morning. When I'm done here I am going to get comfy and do my puzzles and then stitch. A nice evening.

I think I'll have to do more than the pool. Time to get out the old RS tapes and try to keep up with the Silver Foxes. Maybe that will help me. I hate to exercise, that's why I like pool, doesn't seem like exercise bec I like it, even tho I am to leg lifts, twists, jumping jacks etc.

Rosalie - Saw your post to Fly. I didin't think of Pastry lour when I made my biscuits, I did think next time to use regular WW flour. I'll have to get pastry flour to have on hand.

Deb - Enjoyed the chat last night. Hope the seekers or curious take note and join us. On the poll I chose arms, they flap in the breeze!

I told a lie! I think I said I had your WW Biscuit recipe. I went thru the recipes I have and could not find it. I did find muffins, but they are not biscuits. I checked recipe boards and couldn't find it. Can you let me know what month and I will scan it again.
I made th Bagels today. I had to guess at oven temp. I decided on 400'. I think they could have gone a tad longer then I let them. It was good to work w/ yeast again. I will have to try bread next. I also saw Oatmeal Bread that looked good. I love to bake! The thing is to do it legally now. I will try the chips. Never heard of sumac as a spice. Can't post recipe for casserole until I get good legal biscuit recipe.

Nance - Painting is done downstairs. They didn't do the DR but who knows? The longer you look at the new, the worse the old looks. They still have the small area at top of stairs, which is computer/craft/bookcase hodge-podge.

To me we're neither city or country. Slidell is a sprawled out area, that has a downtown called Old Town, that is the closest we come to a town. It is just an area of urban sprawl......home developments and small shopping areas every other street light. We live in a development. Have postage stamp front yard and maybe a 3 stamp back yard.

I think you missed some of my posts. I did feel I have to do something, so I volunteer two days a week at a local nursing home, (I usually abreviate NH) I work with the activities dept. I do a Reminisce Group and Current Events Group. I won't get on
my soap box about requirements of LA as opposed to PA. But I will say I would have been in deep trouble with state and owners if I provided the program that is legal here. It is nothing against the NHs here, as they are meeting LA requirements. I have been
in another NH here under the Ombudsman Program and it was the same. Once again a lot of it is money. I enjoy the
volunteering very much. I just love the geri population. Bob described Gabby to a T.

Sol - Know you are going through a hard time. I think we have been very supportive. I may have missed the posts that have upset you. I know how hard it is and discouraging at times.
I was doing so great and then the last month has been the pits in spite of being good. You know what you have been doing. We only have to answer to ourselves and the h*ll w/ everyone else. I am behind you 100%.

Fillise - Your homily was great. The part that hit me was that change is scary and wonderful. I know at times at 38# I see differences in face and clothes. Then I think I realize that I won't have the fat to hide behind or something. Some soul searching is
due. Thank you. Gator is right, ice is good. I used it when I had my knee done.

Frog - Congrats on loss. Wish I could say the same for me.

One thing about a slow Board, it makes ir easier to catch up! Going to Boxerjam and then to my recliner.

Have a good night. sef

Definitely slow for WIW!

I have finally been holding within 1 1/2 pounds for the first time in my life instead of having wild fluctuations, but yesterday scale was up to 153! I freaked out until I remembered that I always weigh after a run and this time I weighed after a weight lifting session instead...double whammy!

Back to 152 today, up 2 pounds from last week Wednesday but I know I have been doing the right things, going to attribute it to starting my weightlifting back up again.

And, **** ON WHEELS is back on wheels! For the first time in about two months, I put my blades back on! I wasn't any worse for the rest, in fact, I think I was better than ever! Did an easy 8 miles before I got rained out (it was at night) and then, because I was absolutely terrified of the idea, I ventured out onto the main road! (Ala Moana Blvd, about a zillion lanes) Of course, I immediately fell on the rough sidewalk, but I didn't get run over by any cars and/or bikes.

Varying the cardio routine from just running.

Been neglecting my finances in a major way, which is a big deal for an up-and-coming financial planner. Today did the major task of getting my checkbook balanced, still gotta finish paying bills, and did some mutual fund research to get my systematic investments started up again (I "temporarily" stopped them) and make a big payment on my out of control credit card.

I'm sitting here shaking having to deal with this stuff, what is wrong with me? I need to go to Spend-a-holics Anonymous!!!!

Okay gotta go!

Love,

Chris

Hello Friends,

Remember me? It's good to be able to sit at a computer for awhile and communicate with the outside world.

I had somewhat of a relaspe a couple weeks ago. I had problems with my foot again, and long story short, I had to have a toe removed with the possibility of another one.

I've missed corresponding with you all. There are several new names on the board. Happy to see everyone is still encouraging each other.

DEB: Looking forward to being included in the round robin calls. Did you get my email with my pjone number?

I'm still doing well with the SB WOE. I can't exersise right now, so the scales are moving slow, but they are moving. I've maintained under the 300 mark.

Keep thinking about me ladies...don't forget me..I'll be back soon...full force.....9 toes (maybe 8) and all.

I'll sign off now.

Good Thursday Morning:wave:

Unusual how quiet the board was yesterday and this morning-did BOB pick up all up in the wagon yesterday, is that why no one is on the board, you're all in the wagon???:?:

I didn't walk today, didn't feel like going and have too much to do, not that 1 hour out of my time really would make a difference-just an excuse and a bad one at that. Scale is up even though TOM hasn't rolled in-up 2.5lbs since yesterday, doesn't that just suck?!?

BOB, okay, you did have a good excuse for not being in the chat-wonder why you couldn't get in. Did you get my e-mail about Vegas?? WPB is about 1 1/2 hours from me-try either MIA or FT Lauderdale (close to Ole Ole).

SEF, hope you are less achey today. You made the bagels and liked them???? Were they easy?? I only posted the recipe, haven't made them-waiting for Mom to do it for me. I don't have the oven temp listed??? Did you get the e-mail for the WW Biscuit link?

SPARKLE, I see you pushing yourself to the limits again;) Just remember, take it easy a day or two a week-too much isn't always better you know. Hey, you're not the only one to not balance their checkbook! Don't worry about being up, it's probably all muscle gain.

STAR, what happened with the tootsies??? Why did they have to do that?? I truly hope they don't need to take another one off! How are you coping??? Yes, I did get your e-mail with your telephone-just waiting on straglers and we'll get this RR going. Please, keep us informed on how you are doing!!!

Gotta run, too much to do-I've neglected so many things-I have a ton of e-mails to read, ton of wash to do, house to clean, etc etc.

Will check in later and post a recipe as well sometime today!

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers! Especially Lara and Narda for their e-cards. They really lifted my spirits! And don't worry Narda--I'll be in fine shape by the time football season rolls around!

The surgery went well. I just got back from the post-op visit and the doc says everything looks great. I'm even beginning to take some baby steps without the crutches. The worst part was the anesthesia--it always makes me sick and this time was no exception! I did get the ringer lactate solution which the nurse assured me had no sugar in it. When I came out of surgery I was so nauseated--and the only thing that would help the nausea subside was regular Sprite. So I had a few sips of that--otherwise eating hasn't really been an issue over the last couple of days. I couldn't weigh-in yesterday as I still had all the bandages (and it is amazing how high that scale looks when you are unsteady on your feet!). Today I'm down to two band-aids on the knee, and will try to scale tomorrow morning.

Deb--WooHoo! You've got quite a nice cushion now! And I'm not talking about the one in the be-hind!

Krista--WooHoo times 3.5! You go girl! Let this success motivate you to achieve even more.

Rosalie--Woohooo to you two! And a belated happy birthday!

SEF--Hang in there--the scale will start moving again! You might want to take some measurements--sometimes I lose inches when I'm not losing pounds!

Star--I'm so sorry to hear about your relapse! This is scary stuff! Take care of the rest of them piggies, we don't want to lose any more of them! But congrats on staying OP and below 300! I know your healthier nutritional habits will help you get through this a little better! Please keep us up to date. I will remember you in my thoughts and prayers!

OK. I'm tired. Time for a nap.

Talk to y'all soon!

Very quiet on both boards today! What is up with that?

StarChaser, yep I remember you alright. Didn't that foot problem start off with a bug bite or something like that? I was rather horrified to hear that you are losing toes. What exactly happened to cause that? Well, you are definitely in my thoughts and prayers.

Debbie, Well I don't feel I'm pushing it to the limit, my main goal is to get the exercise going on a consistent basis. That's why I've been obsessive about doing it every day, but I really don't do that much, 2 to 3 miles + weights. That's why I'm not doing the Marathon again this December--I feel that doing a little bit consistently is far more important to me at this point in my life, I rather stressed out over the massive training last year and ended up procrastinating.

Susan, well we have another cripple on the board! Okay sorry I was being bad. Glad you came through surgery okay and hope you didn't lose any toes too! I definitely wouldn't worry about the Sprite or the IV solution, I mean, it's surgery what can you do??? I don't think a toothache or something similar is necessarily an excuse to eat lots of sugar, but surgery is a totally different story. You are doing fine woman!

Gotta run, gotta fly...all my gym clothes were dirty so I'm doing another rushing about doing laundry morning before work today. Feeling a little less sore from my workout Tuesday so really to start pounding again!

Love,

Chris

Hi everyone. Didn't fall off the earth--just a zombie. Up past 1 a.m. couple of nights ago and it took a while to get caught up. Families don't let you sleep. Went to post one night and dh complained about time spent away from him. So I will force myself to post midday. Seriously wanting a nap though. Tired and achy from TOM. I actually dreamed of going for a massage. Not though. Saving $$$ for nail and hair for next months reunion. Didn't lose any more on Wednesday. Not worried. I think I lost enough the first week and need to regroup. I have no doubt the scale will move again. (I hope)

Sorry no receipes.

Nancy-I really loved your comeback for next episode with jealous girlfriend. How's the painting? What color are you doing? The colors and very vivid now. I'm a muted person.

Rosalie-Congrats on losing. Lasagna a hit. Thanks. SGWW (stone ground whole wheat right?) is a better idea. I'm trying it.
I seriously think it was the flour.

sef-I agreed with you on the blood and guts in movies. There is more suspense when the violence is implied I think. Then I read about your cleaver and hope the blood & guts stayed in the movie. I understand it was just an impulsive thought. My personal cleaving spot is that bit of fat that sticks out from between the upper arm and breast. It always seems to fall out of my tank tops. Ugh. I would start there. Too bad fat isn't like hair. We could just go in to have it cut off regularly. It's been really hot there I see. Hope your cool and get some relief soon.

Filliese-Happy Anniversary. You'll be in my prayers for a quick recovery. You are such an inspiration!

R-lynn-Thanks for the creamy cucumber salad idea. Sounds great.

Sol-how's the new medicine? I'm praying for you! Gator took all my inspirational thoughts so I'll just ditto hers.

Sparkle-Your ride sounds fantastic! Hope you get a buddy soon. I used to make 100 mile rides when I was 21. They were in one day. Took from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. and you walked funny afterward. Your way sounds a lot better. And talk about scenery!

Frog-9min mile. ! Great.

IDblond-Your sourdough french bread idea sounds good. I'm trying it. Tai Chi sounds intriguing but I'm not going to start anything new when boys are out of school.

Krista-almost 10 lbs so far. Yeah! Hope your trip to NY is great.

Star-Sorry about the toes. When is the surgery? Let us know.

Bob-Thanks for the receipe. Gonna do those tommorrow.

Deb!!--Pizza place and no pizza. I love hearing about your resistance!!! You go girl. I'm pretty convinced the pancakes were old flour. Gonna get new flour for another crack. I felt better about the chuncks. I'll admit I voted boobs too. I just don't want them dragging the ground anymore!!! Right now they're propped up on my tummy but when that's gone. OHHH NOOO. I personally envy smaller breasted women. They don't have to worry about droop and they can go strapless with ease. Now I am compeled to say that I do understand and empathize with the plight of smaller breasted women. Their pain is valid too. I just have to talk from my larger breasted perspective which really gets in the way of my golf swing!!! Your blouse buy was awesome. So sorry about your trip being canceled. Where do you get those images that are included in your posts?? Are they on the internet?

Well ladies. This is it for now.

Well, who can believe how FAST the time goes! Yes, we were gone for the weekend and yes, we got back on Monday night. And here it is Thursday before I can manage to show my face around the board. Geesh, some nerve, right??? Anyways, I'm back in more ways than one!

Our weekend reunion with hubby's family was WONDERFUL!!! We all met south of St. Louis in a town called Farmington. Paul is one of six children and everybody showed up with kids (over 20 of us). The weather sucked. It was SOOOOO hot that we hardly went outside at all. But managed to keep busy inside. They are a family who loves to play games. So that's a really good thing. I faltered a few times on my eating, but really saved myself by taking so much SB legal food. I have been ravenous this entire week. (See what even the littlest bit of sugar will do to you.) And TOM is right around the corner. Look out. Forgot to weigh in yesterday and this morning (yes, that's the truth!). So hope to do so in the am. I really fear that I am back up over 170 and am afraid to see, but must so I can plan the attack on those sticky pounds!!

Haven't had time to read the posts. I've been absolutely exhausted all week. And have been trying to get into bed early. I'll respond later when I've had a chance to catch up. Hope all is well with each of you.

Take care.

Hi Everyone, Although I haven't been posting, have certainly been keeping up with all of you. First off, I have a concern.
I have been making sugar free pudding with 2% milk and having a fourth of the pudding every night. Having the two slices of bread or one of cereal, every day and too much cheese. My scales sat at the same figure for three weeks. I was very discouraged until another Sugar Buster Buddy write me about the sugar in Soy milk and I checked my 2% and was shocked. Left off the pudding, cut out the cheese and cut down to only 1 slice of
bread and the scales have started to move. Was it the milk or all of the above? I do know that when I came to this conclusion, I had one cup (fourth of the pkg) left and I ate half of it and it triggers my cravings like you wouldn't believe. Any input will be much appreciated. I wrote last night but when I to preview and saw my errors and went to Back to try to correct and it disappeared. Did it get sent (I hope not). I felt like such a nerd but I have much to learn. I just love all the little smilies and graphics you guy put in yours. Anyway, with all my faults, I am so glad to one of yee!! I feel much encouraged from reading the forum.

Hi

Can't stay long. Need to go across town to take a friend to the dr. She can't drive until
he gives the OK. Anyway, have read all the posts and just want to say Hi to all.

Star--good to "see" you. All you knee patients--keep it elevated and with an ice pack on
it! It definitely helps speed recovery.

Have been exercising much more regularly, over and beyond the weight lifting. I just do that automatically. But I have been walking on the TM for 3 miles every day. Can't do it as fast as Debelli, but was up to 3.8 MPH. Fast for my short little legs. Debelli, you mustbe running to go that fast.

Gotta go. Have a great day, y'all.

PS. Hi BOB. Only about 50 days till kickoff!

Hi everyone :)

Thought I'd better get in a post tonite as I have to work tomorrow and then babysit in the evening so maybe won't be able to do much computing tomorrow (except for lurking while I am at work if we are not too busy.) I went to my son and dil's for supper to-nite for a birthday dinner. Had barbecued chicken with grilled zucchini and salad. Fresh blueberry's for dessert and some dessert wine. Still have a little wine left. May finish it before I go to bed as the bottle is too tall to put in my fridge! Birthday not until Saturday but they will be away for the weekend. I had a present from other ds yesterday. I now have a new toy to play with, he gave me a scanner. Haven't had time to figure out too much yet. Who knows maybe I will get a picture posted soon.

Deb - That macaroni cheese sounds o.k. to me. That little bit of cornstarch shouldn't be a problem. I tried Kraft microwavable mac. cheese some time ago. That tasted good but I don't know if it was legal. I forget what all the ingredients were. Maybe you will make it up here one day or who knows maybe I will come to Florida one of these days. To-day is the first time I have heard that you didn't get out and walk. What happened to-day? You know those 2.5 pounds are only temporary. They'll be gone again in no time.

Krista - Hope you have a good trip.

Sef - Hope your aches and pains are better to-day. I agree with you on the pool. I like to swim but it's as much relaxation as exercise for me. I try to swim as many lengths of the pool as I can but it is usually a leisurely swim. I don't overly exert myself but I always feel better afterwards. If I have aching feet or legs it seems to help. If you are buying PASTRY flour for your biscuits remember it should still be Stone Ground Whole Wheat.

Sparkle - Don't forget to watch out for the traffic when you are blading on the road. We don't want to lose you!

Starchaser - Good to see you posting again. I certainly hadn't forgotten you. Sorry to hear about the problems you are having. I sincerely hope you don't require any more surgery. Sounds like you are doing extremely well under the circumstances, being able to stick with SB and lose. Losing slowly is certainly much better than not losing at all. Hope to see you posting more frequently now. Will be thinking about you.

Bob - Where have you taken everyone on that wagon. How about bringing them all back. It's too quiet around here the last couple of days.

Fillise - Glad to hear that the surgery went well and hope you will be up and around gain soon. I wouldn't worry about a few sips of sprite. Your body was probably ready for a quick fix after fasting before the surgery.

Fly - I have posted the recipe for the Buttermilk Pancakes.

Kim - Welcome back and glad to hear you had a good weekend.

Rusty - Hi and welcome. Glad you are joining us. Anything that triggers cravings should be avoided. Some people are affected by milk, on others it has no effect, although I don't know anything about soy milk as I have never used it. The pudding probably contains cornstarch and maybe that is the problem. We all have to find what foods works for us. It's hard to say what one thing was causing you to stall.

Gator - Glad to see you are keeping up with the exercises.

All for now.

Here I am, tired but happy!!! Went to nh today as usual, then to Wal*Mart Super Store and Sam's for groceries. Then chopped and sliced all the ingredients for salads for the next day or two, also boiled some eggs, to have on hand. Then while I was at it, chopped and diced to make some Shrimp Creole to serve over brown rice.

Now I am tired, I try to remember to sit while I chop etc. But I always will move for some reason and wind up standing when I go back to task. I feel I don't work fast enough when I sit. I wonder why I'm sore and then remember. Shrimp is expensive
but we need a treat now and then. It was really good, will have to post it next recipe day. It's all legal. It's so simple.

After supper I finally read and the paper and didn't stitch. Then remembered I better say Hey to y'all.

STAR - Feel so bad for you. Hope you will keep the nine toes. You are blest w/ a positive outlook. My prayers are with you.

DEB - Okay here's the deal w/ the bagels. I didn't want to hurt your feelings by saying I would make a change or two. I like the texture, but they are really a little blah. For the amount of flour used I would add a full tsp of salt. I think I would bake them at
425' next time, may make them a little crustier. I also would make the hole a wee bit bigger as it closes as it rises and bakes. Also for our woe, I think instead of 8 I would make 10. You'd still have the taste but a little less carbs going in your system. If there is an oven temp listed I did not see it. They do take a little time to make. I used the Rapid Rise yeast, which cuts down the time some. There are 2 rising times and then you have to boil them. All in all I would say worth the effort. Especially if you can't
find sfww ones in stores. Also I like the baking process, so didn't feel time was abnormally long.

Thanx for sympathy on achiness, better today. Just some days are worse than others. I try not to feel sorry for myself, but it will slip out!

By now you know I got the e-mail on the biscuits. When the bagels are gone I will try it.

FILLISE - Glad everythig went well, too bad the nausea had to spoil it for you. I never thought if the scale as being high, except in numbers! Thanx for the words of encouragement

BUTTERFLY - My cleaver was just to make a point. I am an anti-violent person. At least toward others! Another spot is the thighs. They are getting dimpled. They were always too fat firm for dimples. So maybe a good thing even though it is horrible! You talk about breasts, my dil is not fat, but she is Dolly Parton busted. She has problem w/ certain clothes getting them to fit w/o busting open. So we all have problems and are never satisfied w/ ourselves.

ROSALIE - Pains are better. Our pool isn't big enough for laps, altho I do go back and forth. Altho the hot tub is good, I prefer the pool. I think bec in the tub you just sort of sit, in the pool you can move which helps the aches etc. Yep, I know pastry flour should be sgww. I was in Wal*Mart Super Store today and they didn't have it. If you like to bake try the bagels, see note above to Deb for my thoughts on them.

Seems like a slow board today so takes less time to write a post. I am tired and will not check for mistakes, you'll just have to read it as it is and have a little snicker at my typing!

See y'all tomorrow!

I am the first to post...you know why??? Because it's 1:40am. in the !@%^#& morning! Obviously I can't sleep, so what else is there to do! My computers were down both at home and work. What a SB posters nightmare!!!!

BOB
I was up in the heavens during the Roy Rogers days.....I was born in 19 ot 65. Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street were
more my speed....o.k. Scooby Doo. I haven't informed Dan the Man about the FARTAY room yet....I thought I'd save that for when we are about an hour outside of Vegas and it's too late to turn back!

Debs
Thanks for the complements on my art :spin:....No I did not hand letter the envelope, but isn't it cool??? Dan isn't much of a gambler, but when he sees the alternative of hanging out with you me and BOB, he might become one! I can't believe BOB
hasn't been to TJ's! You two better be on your "Ninja" mode shopping, because I am very un-girly in that respect and don't have a lot a patience browsing for hours and hours. I picture us floating on rafts with a fluff-n-fold drink in some gargantious swimming pool laughing! Faris is getting his real cast (for those of your wondering my sons name is Arabic because the ex is from Jordan) on Tuesday. His biggest dilema is what color he is going to pick out. The ortho Dr. suggested hot pink but he didn't like that idea! Nadia has been up to typical girl stuff going to the movies and hanging out at the mall, eating, watchig "The Wedding Planner" for the 8th time, etc.

Sol
I have tried the cabbage diet and after the 4th bowl, I took the entire pot and through it down the drain. Haven't had cabbage since then! The only thing that I can think that may be worth trying in regards to loosing weight is eliminating any type of starchy carb (regardless if it is SGWW) and just eating protein, fruit and veggies for a week or two and see if that makes any difference. I've seen alot of people in my doctors office stuggle with their weight, and that seems to be the one thing that gets them going. I don't really consider it Atkins, because he doesn't allow fruit, until later on, but cutting out the carbs seems to work for most people who have a hard time getting some movement on the scales! You could try it for two weeks, and see what happens. I know my body is super sensitive to carbs, and when I was following SB to the tee, I was still having protein for breakfast, eggs or cottage cheese, salads with proteins for lunch, protein and more veggies at dinner, and fruit for snacks in between meals and I was doing great with the weigh coming off.

ldblond
I'm not sure you want to see the casa unless it is for before and after purposes! It's fun owning your own home, but you never seem to stop working on it! I'm really helping Home Depot with their profits! Have you baked anything with the agave nectar yet. Was your stomach o.k. with it?????

Krista
WAY TO GO!!!!! YOU GODDESS YOU!!!!! That is awesome! Things are moving down, down, down for you! Glad someone is on the right track and can set an example for what can happen if you are a good girl and follow plan! I have been evil lately. PMS was bad, and the chocolate craving were even worse. The some evil person brought brownies into work when I was WEAK. Needless to say there wasn't a loss to post on WIW!

SEF
I'm such a ding-bat....I did see you mention "NH" and for some reason was thinking New Hampshire!.....Must have had Folgers that morning and not Starbucks to wake my brain cells up, but BOB knows all about how coffee can affect the little grey matter upstairs! Glad to hear that! My Dad is in a Nursing home and I haven't ever seen any volunteers there. Should would be nice for people to get some extra TLC! In regards to DEBS bagel recipe, you have to know one thing...the lady doesn't actually COOK. Yes, she supplies recipes, yes she has 1,000's of cookbooks, but she'll be the first to tell you she hasn't actually "made" any of these recipes! o.k.....except for the WW Sponge Cake, how can we forget that one!

FLY
You asked what color we're painting......Well, I have about 50 paint chips and the more I get the more confused I am. We're going with "warm" tones. The carpet I picked out is called "Carmelized Pear" and as far as the paint....I can't decide.
I kind of like the look the have in coffee shops (BOB, refrain yourself!) Terra cotta, honeycomb, etc. I think I need to look through more magazines!

Quilter
I thought for some reason your where going to a CLASS reunion, not a family shin-dig! Sounds like you had fun! Glad to see you on board again!

Well....my big report is that I have an appointment Saturday to get a new "DO", hair-do that is!!!! One one my patients works at the salon at the Hyatt and has been buggin me to get my arse in there, so I broke down and scheduled. I also made an appointment to get a manaicure and pedicure before hand, so I can really enjoy the whole fluff-n-fold experience. My friend Ann is going with me and I CAN"T WAIT!!!!!! This is the Mom who NEVER spends money on herself! Just the fact that I called and made the appointment is HUGE! Well, it's 2:15pm....sleeping pills here I come. Glad to catch up and post! I missed everyone! You'll be seeing ALOT more of me (Yes, that's right BOB...the buzzin' is back!) Dan the Man is ditching me (without my permission) for 2 weeks up to Washington for annual military training. I had no idea reservist did soooooo much! He also has insomnia...maybe becuase it's out last night together. Hey, we haven't been married a year yet, I can be mushy!

Hi all. I'm with you Nancy about time. Happy Friday the 13th. I'm not supersticious but it is fun to say. I'm :) :( to report that I'm now a scale watcher myself. Been looking at it every a.m. since Wednesday thinking "ok, today it's going to move". I can see why it's so addicting.

Quilter-Welcome back!!!! Glad I could assist in the posting catchup by my little bit earlier this week. Glad you had fun. With your determination you'll be a loser in no time.

Rusty-Welcome. I'm new too. I think I'll rethink 2% milk too if this scale doesn't move soon. I have trouble posting myself. I can't wait til I learn to put in images too.

Rosalie-Thank you sooooo much for those buttermilk pancakes. Now I have some flexibility on pancake Saturdays with the family. I won't feel so left out. You're the best!!!

Sef-I'm sending you energy. Do you feel it yet? Isn't it fun to treat yourself? I caught a Poirot last night. Didn't catch the name but it's the one with the kidnapped boy. I got right off it was the dad. "Murder in Mesopotamia" is on tonight so 2 nights of Poirot!!!!!!!!

Nancy-No computers on school buses yet, but I used to manage a telephone center. Computers down are the worst and we don't have human lives in our hands. Hope those things get fixed soon. So colors sound so delicious. pun intended. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's head swims with all the colors available. Sometimes I long for simpler times when there wasn't so much choice!! I'm not really a mallrat myself. I'm a zip in and zip out girl so it's even a bigger deal when I find a terrific bargain.

Love to all, gotta take all the kiddies to summer school.

Good morning y'all. What a difference a week makes. I was in such a low spot last week. This week I am back to my old self.

Spewer behaved herself for the most part. She was up to her usual stuff. Talking about her so called best friend, while her friend and her friend's sister where in the room. All the discussion were attempts to make herself look fabulous in the site of others. More insecurity leaking out of her. I was able to keep my mouth shut. Had a migraine and didn't feel like getting too roudy. I laid low and left as soon as the games were over.

Have just finished up my light breakfast and am getting ready to go for a run. Hoping to turn in another great time. It's TOM and I tend to run my best on my period. FYI - during ovulation your effort is perceived to be more difficult. You feel as though you are working harder, your breathing more effortful, when in reality it, isn't.

DH has been running and lifting regularly, and he is started to see the benefits. He is wearing some pants to work today that haven't fit in years. He needs assistance with his wardrobe. I am a clothes horse and he could care less about what he wears to work. I got him a few things yesterday that he likes, some of 'em I'll take back today.

May I make a plea to all this summer? There have been 4 children in the US this week that have died from heat exposure when they were left in a locked car. One of them was here in NC. A prominent veterenarian forgot to drop off his young son the way to work. The infant remained in the car seat, behind tinted windows of an SUV, and died. It was a horrible accident and now the father is on suicide watch. People forget about their children in their carseats more than people realize. As you are out an about this summer, please be aware of children of any age and pets that are locked in hot cars. When it is 80* outside it is 120* in the car. If you see an animal or a child in a car, call the police.

DEB - You got a great deal on your shirt! I'd love to shop with you. :) :( about Canada. What a CRAZY situation with your BIL. Sorry that your trip is going haywire. Great walk time! You have peppy little feet! BTW - I love Spaeztle. I learned to love it when we lived in Germany. YUM!

SOL - {{{{{HUG}}}} Sorry if you have felt as though someone has been critical of you here. I hope the person who said things to you to make you feel that way was trying to be helpful. I am sure it was not meant to be hurtful. If I have been untowards, please accept my apologies. However, I'm glad that you mentioned how you felt. It is important to discuss our feelings here and to make us all aware that sometimes we need to be careful with what we say to others. Keep up the good work. ;)

FILLISE - SOO happy that you are feeling better and that you are able to get on your feet a little bit. Congrats on your SB anniversary! You have done so well! :D

BOB - I missed you at chat. I hate that you weren't able to get in. Did you try logging off and back on? Do you have more than one browser that you can use. I have had to try another browser when we had the other chat (before the upgrade). I wrote down that yummy recipe for the pancakes. THanks for sharing. Dixie says hey to Skeeter.

ROSALIE - Great Loss! Keep it up!

SEF - Keep your chin up!

SPARK - You remind yourself that all this exercising is building that fab-u fat burning muscle, and that it tends to make the scales go a little wacky at first.

KRISTA - NYC!! That sounds like a fun time. Great loss!

STAR - Welcome back. I am sorry about your foot. Does this go back to the blood poisoning incident? Did they ever decide what caused the problem to start with? I hope that they will not need to take another toe.

NANCE - A New Do? WOO HOO! Pamper yourself!

QUILTER - Reunion sounded like fun. Nice to see you back today.

RUSTY - I have to be careful with my carbs and cheese intake too. I had to laugh because as I was reading your post I was eating cheese toast!

GATOR - Yeah for you and the exercise! That is awesome!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! To all of you celebrating a birthday this month.

Time to run, literally. Hope you all have a great day. Will check back in later!

Peace,
FROG

Good Friday Morning Everyone:wave:

Just got in from my walk/jog, did the usual 4.5 miles with 18 jogs in a 52:57-sweating bullets right now.

Getting down to the wire with getting Lauren ready for camp. We are going bra shopping today, among gosh knows else. Going up to Broward to spend the day, Mom is picking up Michael from school so we don't have to rush back here early. Going to take Eli out for his birthday to (where else?),Ole Ole-old goat is 49 years old today. Not sure what the dinner plans are for tonight, maybe a movie or something.

The scale is extremely up for me today-but I'm not really so worried about it since it's TOM time for me. I must admit though, Wed I ate like a pig, too much food and too many calories, and then yesterday, it was even worse! Nothing I ate satisfied me at all, I ate from the minute I woke up til the minute I went to the bedroom! Of course, it was all SB LEGAL, just too much of everything. I figured I must of eaten well over 2500 calories just yesterday as I stopped counting at 1800!!!!! Add to that that yesterday I didn't walk and I didn't drink but a little bit of water. Today I feel like I'm back to "normal".

I've got to get in the shower, so I hope you all don't mind if I don't respond to you all individually right now. Depending on what we do this evening, maybe I will have time then, otherwise, some time tomorrow-hope you understand, just busy, busy right now.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Before I forget, it's FRIDAY FIT FACTS and here's a great article I found that I thought you'd all be interested in reading:

The Benefits of a Low Glycemic Diet
by Douglas S. Kalman MS, RD
November, 12 2000

A recent study suggests that dietary fat may not be the principal cause of obesity (1). In fact, many experts now believe that the types of carbohydrates you eat may be the cause of weight gain and other related diseases. The researchers, led by David S. Ludwig, M.D., Ph.D., the Director of the Obesity Program at Children's Hospital in Boston, focused instead on glycemic index (GI), which is a measure of the effect foods have on blood glucose level after they are eaten.

Ludwig defines high-GI foods as those "that are rapidly digested and absorbed or transformed metabolically into glucose." These include refined starchy foods (such as bread, cereal, rice, pasta, etc.) and table sugar. By contrast, low-GI foods comprise most vegetables, legumes, and fruits. To put it simply, high glycemic foods are ones that cause a rapid spike or rise in your blood sugar values, while low glycemic foods rarely effect blood sugar.

In this study of 12 obese adolescent males, the researchers found that after eating high-GI meals, the subjects were hungrier and ate again sooner: voluntary food intake was 53 percent greater than after a medium-GI meal, and 81 percent greater than after a low-GI meal. Apparently, eating a low glycemic diet can result in being less hungry and eating less throughout the day. The attached table, which lists the glycemic value of various foods, is a great tool in helping you to choose foods that promote a stable blood sugar and reduced appetite.

The researchers concluded that the hormonal and metabolic changes that occurred in those who had eaten high-GI meals-as their bodies more readily absorbed glucose-led them to eat excessively. They also reported greater hunger sooner after eating than those who had eaten medium- and low-GI meals. The researchers acknowledge that the study charted only the acute effects of low-GI meals: "The effectiveness of a low-GI diet in promoting long-term weight loss is unknown." More studies are needed to determine the role of GI and other factors in eating and in weight gain. "Nevertheless," said Ludwig, "this study suggests possible advantages for treating obesity with a diet abundant in vegetables, legumes, and fruits; low in high-GI carbohydrates; and moderate in protein and fats." Ludwig also found that reducing GI in the diet improve serum lipids [cholesterol, triglyceride and high density lipoprotein (HDL)] while decreasing the risk of type 2 diabetes.

Recently, the concept of a body weight set point has been proposed. The set point theory basically states that body weight is predetermined and extremely hard to alter. If you overeat the body responds by increasing the metabolic rate, when you undereat, the metabolism slows down. The body does this as a both a method to keep your weight where it wants it (thus, the set point theory) and as a protective mechanism (2). The link from the set point to the type of carbohydrate that you include in your diet is the glycemic effect of the carbohydrate. As previously stated, high glycemic carbohydrates (for the most part, unwanted in the diet) can increase hunger and overall food intake throughout the day, whereas low glycemic carbohydrates reduce appetite and enhance satiety. Thus, certain types of carbohydrates can increase the risk of obesity.

To further test how dietary carbohydrates effect physiology, researchers from Children's Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston tested 10 overweight men by putting them on two different reduced calorie diets and measuring the hormonal and weight response to the diets. The high glycemic diet was 67% carbohydrate, 15% protein and 18% fat, while the low glycemic diet consisted of 43% carbohydrate, 27% protein and 30% fat. Both diets were the same in calories, while differing in macronutrient ratios and sources of carbohydrate (3).

The results of this study are nothing less than staggering. In fact, to all of those "high-carbo" fans out there, sorry but your diet leads to a slower metabolism, weight gain and leans towards a negative nitrogen balance. Specifically, the high GI/high carbohydrate diet resulted in a decline in energy expenditure of 10.5%, while the low-GI/reduced carbohydrate diet only slowed the metabolic rate by 4.6%. It is important to point out that reduced calorie diets in general will slow the metabolism. The shocker in this study is the reduction of the metabolic rate on the high-GI diet was double that of the low-GI diet. Past research has not indicated that carbohydrate intake impacts nitrogen balance. Nitrogen balance is related to protein intake and muscle mass status. When you follow a diet that is too restrictive in total calories, your body will pull upon protein in the muscles for energy. This is evident when looking at an anorexic or prisoner or war. The muscle wasting becomes apparent by the lack of tone on their body. This study demonstrated that a modest calorie reduction coupled with a high-GI diet results in a negative nitrogen balance - muscle protein being used for energy when compared to a low-GI diet (preserves lean body mass).

A popular diet that is slowly but surely receiving scientific validation is the Zone. In fact, if you examine the low-GI diet used in this study (43% carb, 27% protein, 30% fat), it is strikingly similar to the 40% carb, 30% protein and 30% fat put forth as optimal macronutrient ratios by Dr. Barry Sears. If you are looking to shed a few pounds, maintain lean body mass and keep your blood sugar in check, then a low-GI diet is for you.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!:)

Friday morning responses: I'm catching up on responses, but I may have missed someone or typed you more than one message.

Debelli:-Congratulations on your weight loss, it's incredible that you are already so close to your goal! I am going for the cushion goal, but I'm really struggling with how to maintenance. Any tips would be so helpful as my I really go back and forth with what I should do. My SIL has my books right now, I've asked for them back but we haven't connected yet. Question: How does milk figure in with weightloss, see Rusty's post and my response. thanks.

rosalie: Congratulations on the great 2 lb. loss!

KristaAB369: Wow! What a terrific loss, your doing great!

Frog Lover: Down a little more I see, your on your way to seeing your goal!

THE BIG ORANGE BABE: Nance is having major computer problems. We had lunch yesterday, she is ok. She still needs to be pulled on the wagon and is having her struggles as we all do. Nance and I both are stress/emotional eaters which at times cause us to make BAD decisions. I had a lapse last night with the Domino's Cinammon Dough balls...they were good for the 1st bite I wish I would have stopped there...

Sef: I hope you are feeling better.

StarChaser: Good to hear from you. I pray that you will recover quickly.

Fillise: Glad you are recooperating well. I don't think I would worry to much about weigh in this week, although your recovery may be speedy trying to put your full weight on that knee to soon is not a good idea and your meds may cause you to retain fluids which unfortunatley could cause your weigh in to be off. They may not, this is just how surgery effects me.

The Quilter: Your mini-vacation sounds wonderful. I love getting together with relatives, we use to do it so much when I was a kid. Not so much now. I certainly miss it.

Rusty: I've been on SB for 5 months and still feel like a nerd. We are all here for one another, I too am struggling with milk. I know that sf ice cream sets my cravings off, so I am trying to stay away from it and stick with Deb's milk/ice drinks. They don't cause me to have the sweet cravings, but I'm not at all sure that they aren't keeping me from losing.

Sef: I'm coming over, you sound so wonderfully prepared and the food scrumpcious (sp?)! How many days out can you make salad still and it not spoil? I can only do 2 days worth, any suggestions?

Nance: Your up late! Yes I have agave nectar and I'm going to try Deb's peanut butter muffins for the party at work next week. I used it on french toast last weekend and it was a little too sweet, next time I'll use less. I like it better than any of the other sweetners, especially because it's natural. Have a great time this weekend at the beauty salon. You TOTALLY DESERVE THIS special day! We'll have to get together and check out each other's new do's next week. (My appt. is Sat. afternoon)

Frog: You are so right about the loss of children during the summer. We unfortunatley have a loss of life in the valley at least once a year, outside it's 110-120 you can only imagine the inside of the car. What a devastating loss. In addition, pools are another big stealer of life. Please what your little ones, don't let them play around pools and when they are in the water, be in there with them and don't leave their little sides. I've been to one 7 year olds funeral in my lifetime due to a senseless drowning. So sad...

It's way past my time to get ready for work, so I've got to go.

Have a SUPER FRIDAY!

Well, the reocvery is proceeding. I can feel the knee getting stronger every day! It is still nowhere near normal, but each day is a little better.

I did manage to climb on the scale this morning. I'm down three pounds. I guess the surgery fast, plus the barfy feeling for the next two days made a difference. I want to see where it stabalizes after I resume normal eating--but hey, I'll take it!

Deb--See you are still below goal--your cushion is working!

Frog--Such discipline! It's fun hearing about you and DH training and getting into shape. Where did the incident with the vetenerian take place? I can't imagine the heartbreak, the grief, and the guilt!

Sparkle--it sounds like you are tackling the weights again with a vengence. I can't wait to get back to the gym!

That's all for now. I'm finding I still get tired pretty easily!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Susan

--ps I'm at 62 pounds lost now. 60 pounds represents 20% of my starting body weight--so this represents a milestone! 13 more pounds and I'll be halfway to goal!

Gotta go for now.. Lots of unpacking to do, and laundry:eek:. I will post again with details of our tropical time in the Keys!!!!!!!

So glad to be home :spin:

Hi all. Been reading posts but not feeling really witty enough to write. Still tired all the time. How long does this last???? I wrote more but it sounds whiny. So I saved you the trouble of reading it. Any vitamin suggestion would be well received and appreciated.

Fillese-Take those 3 lbs any way you can get them. That's the least you deserve for all you went through!!!

Amser-welcome back. Glad you had a good time. Waiting to hear all the details.

frog & Deb-your exercise is such an inspiration. Speaking of inspiration I think that's what I'm going to do now. Maybe I won't need vitamins after all. Wish me luck.

Sonya, this is a LONG, rambling thread by a chick who has had a quick weight gain due to health problems, I am not trying to say her problems are the same as yours but there is frustration that you may be able to relate to. Just thought it might be interesting reading for a rainy day:

I hate going through these depression cycles - this is so d****d long (http://www.atforumz.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59547)

Hope to hear more from you soon, I miss you!

EILEEN SO....where did you all go for dinner? I know you went out to eat, ELI is sure to want a good meal on his BIRTHDAY!!! Don't you try to cook....PLEASE~~~~
Your day of eating sounds like mine for the past ALMOST FOUR MONTHS!!! Once you get started, it's pretty damn hard to quit!
Good thing you don't have those days often. I hope you and Lauren had a good day today. I know you'll miss her, but it will be good for her to be at camp. I'm just sorry that she didn't realize that she wanted to go from the beginning. Is Michael going to summer school all summer?
Rain is moving in over here...70% for tomorrow and 50% for Sunday...I love the rain, but it's bringing SINK HOLES with it!
Whole houses are sinking up in SPRING HILL!

FROGGIE You tell DIXIE that SKEETER is barking at the screen as we speak!!
I WANT SOME BBQ I'm thinking about getting a butt and throwing it in the crock pot and doing some vinegar sauce....I'm in a bad way and would rather be up there eating the GOOD STUFF, but will settle for my own...

Evening....I am soooo tired, but I am draggin' my patoose to the puter! I am with BOB and very glad this week is over! Chaos at work, enough to make me not to wanna be boss woman anymore! Plus lack of sleep and the husband ditchin me lead to one tired puppy! I keep reminding myself that tomorrow I will be getting fluff and fold and will soak up every precious moment of pampering. I hope I get a decent haircut/style! I think I am going through a frumpy-phase right now. Feeling like I have a case of the uglies. Can't wear contacts anymore because me cornea's get too dried out and have to wear glasses all the time. Then there is the love handles from ****, the wardrobe that all needs to get taken to the Salvation Army....but I do have a *****in' new car!

Enough whining.....I'm cranky, I'm oh so very tired, but felt the urge to post. No words of wisdom here...just letting my presence be known!

Debs-I need another 3 day assignment from you! I think you should include a reading project as well for me!

Bob-Emotional eating...I need a psych-book on getting into my head and getting the nuts and bolts re-adjusted. The problem is there are so many things that can set me off. Happy times, sad times, stressful times, etc. I see evryone else doing great, staying OP and loosing and then there is me. I feel like I am here for the socializing instead of getting down to business. I see the newbies doing great and shedding pounds away and tell myself if I just got my head on straight I could be too. O.K....I'm still whining, but your shoulder is there, right?

Idblond-Call me when you get done with your fluff and fold tomorrow so I can see the new you. I'm not getting any color done, can't afford it. That's why they sell that stuff in the drug store in the box, right?

O.K.......Nance needs to tuck herself into bed.

Fillise: Glad to hear you are feeling better. Surgery gave you a nice little loss :) I'm doing the happy dance for you as you cannot right now. You are doing so well! Congratulations, I bet you are thrilled!

Amseraphim: Welcome home.

VAbutterfly: The tiredness for me was significant the first week or so. I found that eating fruit in the afternoon was a great pick me up. Also, I tried to get good sleep and the energy came right back around the end of week two, by the one month mark, I was getting up in the morning and found out it was possible to survive without coffee. I was taking a generic multivitamin/mineral, now I've upgrade to a multivitamin/mineral/antioxidant from GNC. It can't hurt. As for whining, anything you are feeling we want to know about. We are your sounding board, it's better to post what you are feeling than stuffing it. That's what we're here for.

BOB: I was at goal 155, then I ate poorly gained 2 lbs back which I haven't gotten back off, and now today I was VERY VERY BAD, two words, SEES CANDY... I called Nancy about 15 minutes after the crime occured. I felt so guilty and frustrated with myself. It's not like someone forced 4 pieces of chocolate candy down my throat. UGH! I think my battle with binging on sweets at stressful times comes down to NO CHOCOLATE ALLOWED for me. One of the gals at work lost a lot of weight 21 years ago. She had the following to say when I told her of my latest leap off the SB Wagon...

1. If there is something, like chocolate, that you just can't stop eating once you start, don't eat it. She doesn't mean just for awhile, she means forever. Joyce hasn't had chocolate in 21 years. She said that once she decided that it was something that she absolutely can not have, right along with potatoes (french fries, chips, baked, mashed, etc.) that it got easier and now she even bakes with chocolate for her husband and kids and it doesn't bother her. She said that it's just like alcohol for alcoholics or cigarettes for ex-smokers, once you quit you can never go back.

2. When Joyce was trying to lose weight, she would only put 2 items on her plate at any given meal.

After our conversation and now that I am typing this, I've determined that I need to look at the things that cause me trouble and omit them completely and forever. If only one thing at a time then so be it. Secondly, I'm going to re-evaluate what I'm putting in my mouth everyday, which means back to food journaling for a little while. I'm know I'm not getting enough veggies and I think Deb's got a good thing going with getting 5 lbs. below actual goal. I don't expect to be as successful as she's been as her end weight seems to be coming off quickly, but in the next few months I'd like to see 150.

Nance: You seemed really down this afternoon and my call to confess didn't make matters better. I know that we both can be totally successful in getting healthy and 100% on plan. Maybe we could grocery shop together and do some basic meal planning for when we are eating breakfast/snacks/lunch. Dinner is a little more difficult I realize, but if we could be prepared all the time, I know we will do better. Hope your getting a good nite's sleep. Tomorrow's fluff and fold is exactly what you need color or no color. I just can't stand looking like a tabby cat/zebra mix any longer so I'm forking out the $$ to make it disappear. I'll call when I'm done, so we can see each other.

Good Nite All and thanks for always being here.

Where is everyone this morning. It's 11:20 here on the east coast and I thought some of my eastern buddies might have logged on.

Went running this a.m. - did 5.5. The weather is wonderful here today, high expected to be a cool 81*. The low to night in the upper 50's-hi 60's, so I think we will camping out again tonight. :D

Have so much to do so I should say adios for now.

Have a happy Saturday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSALIE!!!!!!

Debelli
07-14-2001, 02:18 PM
Good Saturday Afternoon!

Finally have a chance to get a post on the board, have been busy and just haven't had the chance, or the turn, to get on the computer til now.

Garage sales stunk today-though I did get Eli about 275-300 books for $4.50 for his book drive! I would say he probably has about 700-800 now-now if they'd just announce when the drive starts! My house is overflowing with boxes of books!!!

Weight is up again today, but still have period, so not going nuts as of yet, plus with eating extra, that hasn't helped either. I'm back to normal today, not hungry like I have been these last 3 days, so hoping to see the scale go down some tomorrow. I'm up 4 pounds from my lowest on Wednesday.

I know I have a LOT of catching up to do with post, so I better get a move on...

FILLISE, hope you are continuing to feel better as each day passes. I too would of probably been worried about the IV and the possibility of sugar in it. I think I'm a wee bit too obsessive about this WOE! Please let us know how you are continuing to do and feel! Glad to see the scale went down for you, even if it was post-surgery loss, take it any way you can!!! Can you believe, only 13 pounds to the summit! Then it's all down hill, baby!!!! Ahh, that cushion of mine has disappeared over these last few days-I think I regained it and it's now the cushion back on my rear!!!

FLY, oh my, NO, we sold the pizzeria almost 2 years ago, I would have it all the time back then-we had really good pizza too! Hey, we may look like twins with the boobs-mine face South all the time! I have not idea how they'd even be able to do a boob job on these twins! I picked those because they are parts that only Eli would see, whereas the legs, arms, stomach, etc could be possibly exposed with clothing-ahhh, wishful thinking! The pics are gifs and jpgs-just search the web, there are hundreds!!!!!!!!

QUILTER, glad you are back from vacation and back on the board-sounds like you had a great time! Did you get the pictures? I would think by today you should have them - please let me know.:)

RUSTY, are you using regular milk or soy milk in that pudding? Maybe if it has maltodextrin in it, having it daily may be a problem for you-I had this kind of a problem two times in the past. How much cheese do you eat? I eat a 75% lf cheese, probably 2 ounces a day, but you have to watch the high fat cheeses. BUT, it seems the scale is moving for you, so something you omitted must be the culprit.

ROSALIE, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I hope you enjoy your day today. Let us know what you are doing to celebrate! The mac & cheese was okay, nothing to write home about since I'm not a big lover of it, but it's good for traveling I'd say. The Kraft I'm not sure about, maybe the pasta isn't SB legal, don't have any in the house to look at to see. As much as I"m bummed out about the trip, I do know that we WILL get to Toronto sometime, just not sure when!!!!

SEF, you could never hurt my feelings, esp. not with bagels. Now, if I made those bagels and then you threw them at me in disgust, well, then you may hurt me!! :LOL! I'll check and see what the temp says. Thanks for your input on what to change about them. I told my Mom she should make them for me-I'd surely mess them up!

NANCE, sorry about last night. I got logged off and just gave up-which made Michael happy since he had been waiting to go on the computer for over a half-hour. Hey, I love good chopped liver!!!! Michael loves chatting with you, he thinks you are hysterical! Hey, what's this business of you telling him you're younger than me-can't you help me lie??????? I gave you credit on the envelope, no one's worse for the wear about that! Hey, do you REALLY want me to make all this stuff? I'd never be able to stay on this WOE if I did!!!! I've learned long ago, I wasn't put on this earth to cook-what my purpose is, I'm still trying to figure that one out!!!! Soooo, hows the new do doing? What did you get done??? I'm sure you look mahvelous dahling! A reading assisgnment huh? Okay, go to the MOTIVATIONAL BOARD and read those-that should boost you up a bit!

FROG, you're doing great with your running!!! The way you're going, you could do the WDW Marathon and then just keep running down here to Miami;) Glad to hear Spewer didn't raise a ruckous the other day-though I must admit, I do love to hear her make an idiot out of herself! One day, someone is going to put her in her place!! Leaving kids in the car has happened all too often down here-can't imagine where peoples minds are when they forget their children! Michael liked the spaetlze, it was okay as far as I was concerened, not a big pasta lover myself, has a heavy texture and taste (it was WW).

LDBLOND, thanks for the congrats Lara-was so close to my cushion goal, now I'm just trying to stay at my regular goal during this TOM time! For maintenance, hmmm, I guess Beach would be a better one to ask than me since she's been at goal for months. Personally, I don't see myself changing anything. Maybe try to see how the few fruits we can't eat, how I do with them trying them a little bit, and only re-introducing them one at a time-the thing is, I don't even miss any of them. There's nothing that I want to eat, so I will just keep on going along this way. What's your thinking on maintenance??? You posted I don't expect to be as successful as she's been WHY NOT??? You have been successful-give yourself more credit!!! Milk should not be a problem, I drink enough of it. I think the problem with what Rusty was doing is the pudding, not the milk. On the PB MUFFINS, just remember, they are not sweet, so to appeal to others, you may want to add more sweetener.

AMSER, glad to see you back, safe and sound. Again, I thank you for stopping and meeting me with Eli and Lauren! It was great! I can't wait to finnish up the role of pics so I can get the pics posted. I sent your pic to QUILTER, along with your address, so once she has it scanned, she'll send it directly back to you. What a difference to see from back at Xmas to you now!! Can't wait to hear about your trip!!!

BOB, no dinner last night, thought Eli's daughter was going to take him out since she made a big deal of him taking the day off (she's 19yrs old). Anyhow, I took everyone out to lunch at Ole Ole. We got Lauren her bras (a place I will take you to next to Ole Ole if you need them, Bali's for $6.99, among others). She's just about ready to go-told her she has to clean her room so you can sleep in there! Michael's summer school is for 6 weeks, not long, but it's 5 hours of the same class-his choice to go, he didn't have to. So far, he likes it (honors or AP Psychics-can't remember which one it is, so he can take the other one in the regular school year).

SPARKLE, thanks for the links-will try to check them out after this weekend!

Okay, now that I think I have been able to catch up a bit, I'm outta here. Will try my best to get back on this evening-otherwise, sometime tomorrow. Lauren's bus leaves around 10:30am, so will try to get in an early walk, get ready and go and then find some time to post afterwards.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi Everyone!
I've been a lurker but wanted to jump aboard. I attended last weeks chat and found everyone so kind and welcoming! Rather than buying the SB book, I took someone's suggestion of getting the book from the library. Whoever made that suggestion ...thanks so much!!! Presently, my funds are very slim, so your input was very helpful to me.
Just one quick question....being new to this...do any of you use
Splenda. I've seen Equal mentioned in the book but nothing about Splenda. Maybe this product was released after the printing of the book.
I'm bound to have more questions...thank you in advance for your
patience!

Sounds like a lot of us had a rough week. I'm slowly comin out of my funk. My job is salaried so I have to get my work done regardless of how long it takes. Normally, it will fit into a normal work-day, but we've been interviewing to fill a position this week and it was the CIO's birthday so that was a 2 hour lunch one day. Adding extra meetings without reducing the workload was rough. I don't know how you gals with the 12 hour shifts do it!!

We found the perfect person for the position and right before calling to offer him the job we found out we couldn't fill the position. It was frozen because one of our biggest clients laid off 4000 employees and it included most of our contacts. Not a good position to be in. Now I'm looking at what else I need to do to enhance my value at the company. :^:

Thank you all for your kind comments and concern. I am very thankful for this board and the dear friends and support group that you have become.

I'll catch up on personal posts later. I've been fighting a cold this week and today it has me down. I've been in bed most of the day and only just got dressed a little while ago - and that was just to go to the store to get some soup.

KELLY - Welcome to the board!! You'll not find a finer group of people anywhere!! I use Splenda, but ever so sparingly. There's a link around here somewhere Debbie posted for me when I had a question about aspertame and Splenda and other sweeteners. I'll see if I can find it. It has some great information on it. No question is a stupid question. A lot of times someone asks a question and I thought I knew what the answer was only to find out I was wrong - or someone asks a question I never thought of asking before. We're all learning and working through this together. Ask away!

FROG - Is that marathon at the Mouse House in ORLANDO??? WILL I GET TO MEET THE FAMOUS FROGGIE??? I can bring pom poms and do cheers for you! When is this thing? Maybe we could get DEBBIE and BOB and GATORGAL and any other FLORIDA BABES together for a little pow wow.

I have a request for quick, easy soup recipes. Today I was so frustrated looking at the labels of all the soups in the grocery store. When you're sick you don't want to be cooking forever, but I wanted soup bad. I made a killer French Onion Soup I'll post, but if anyone has any more yummy ideas I'd love to hear them.

Thanks so much y'all! You're the best!!

Evening All:wave:

Second attempt, hit a key and wiped away my entire post-thank goodness it was only just started!

Just woke up from what must of been a much needed nap-deep sleep, though woke up with a slight headache. Kids just left to be with their Dad for the evening, Eli's still at work and I have the house to myself:)

Board has been unusually quiet this week, ever since Tuesday-any thoughts?:?:

KELLY, WELCOME TO THE BOARD Glad you decided to join us! You fit right in with us last Tuesday in the chat room, and you'll feel right at home here as well. Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD, nice to learn more about you! Glad you were able to get the book out of the library-my suggestion always. I do recommend you to get the SB SHOPPERS GUIDE when you can, it will give you a better idea of what to/not to eat. It's pocket size so you can put it in your purse when you go shopping, at least until you are more familiar with the foods-not a necessity, I totally understand about financial woes. It's $3.95, but you can get it on the internet for $3.79 including shipping, so if you are interested, let me know. I would try first and see if the library may have that as well, some may. Don't hesitate to ask ANY questions you may have. The book can be not only a little vague, but sometimes a little confusing and contradictory-we'll all be happy to answer any questions as well as decipher some of the confusion. I would also recommend you getting Michael Montignacs book called EAT YOURSELF SLIM. The library should have this one as well-he explains things in a bit more detail than SB and was the first to write about this WOE. For instance, MM says no chocolate until maintenance, SB just tells you chocolate with 60% or more cocoa content is fine-I take Montignacs side-your goal is to get the sugars out of your system, I don't think SB was smart in not saying what MM says-I see too many people who start SB and see this as being okay to eat chocolate from the start and never get rid of their cravings for sugar because they haven't given their body a chance to get it out of their systems. To answer your question about the SPLENDA, you are correct, Splenda came out on the market after the book. Many people use it in small amounts without trouble, but personally, I don't use it at all (nor do I use Equal or S&L-I only use Stevia). I have had trouble with it in the past, when consumed too much at once-it does have MALTODEXTRIN in it, among other forms of sugar. Maybe I am more sensitive to it than say, you would be. You can use it if you'd like, just remember, MODERATION one of the keys to this WOE. Use it in small amounts and see how you do with it, if you have no troubles, great, if you do, easy to cut back or use something else. Anyhow, again, WELCOME, we're glad you're here!!!

SOL, glad to see your post:) Sorry to hear you're fighting a cold, nothing's worse than having a cold in the hot humid summer! Hey, I like your idea about coming to Orlando to meet FROG, can we make your house the PARTAY HOUSE????? Soup recipes - just tell me what type-gosh knows, I have a ton of books with recipes in them! You do know, the Jewish Penicillin is the best for you right now - need a chicken soup recipe????? I know what you mean about the canned soups, gross! My Mom and her friend were here the other day, and not only could they not believe how my eating has changed for the last 16 months with the sugars, etc., but also, how healthier I started eating, like nothing with hydrogentated oils, no preservatives, etc. When I read labels now, it's a whole different way of looking at things. Anyhow, just let me know a soup, and I promise to find a good recipe for you that's SB LEGAL!!!!

Okay, I guess I'm gonna go watch some news. I'll check in with the board later!!

Just a quickie-I was e-mailed today with a question about the 3 grams of sugar "rule" and how much sugar is too much. So, of course, I went searching and basically came up with some information I either didn't remember seeing, or never knew-I've always told you this is a learning experience and that I'm still learning-so here's what I learned:

One site says: The USDA recommends adults get no more than 5 to 10 percent of their daily calories from sugar . And another site: Only 10 percent of your total carbohydrate intake should come from sugar. If you need 200 grams daily, get no more than 20 grams of sugar daily. Read your food labels and remember, 4 grams equals 1 teaspoon of sugar.

When they talk about limiting grams of sugar, this does NOT include naturally occuring sugars you find in fruits, veggies, milk, etc. but sugars that are added.

Thought it was interesting enough to share with everyone!!:) It's not something I really think about since I don't have anything with added sugars (at least that I know of), but for me, doing 1200 calories, that means 12 grams of sugar a day would be my limit if I did want it-the equivalent to 3 teaspoons of sugar if I follow the 10% they suggest, only 1.5 teaspoons if I follow the 5%-makes you think!!!!:o

Happy Birthday Rosalie!

So glad to finally see some posts today. I was starting to get a little lonely! We have opted not to camp out tonight :( We got too late a start on our evening to make it as relaxing as we'd like for it to be. But considering what a mess DH has the bedroom in, we may be forced to sleep in the spare room. I don't know what he was thinking.

This week I got rid of some more clothes that no longer fit and have purchased some shorts and pants in size... (drumroll) 8  I can hardly beleive that myself. They are a little on the snug side, but 10s fit too good to invest any money in, as I predict they will only fit a short time and hopefully not at all by next year.

Have GOT to get off my rear about painting my living room. New furniture will be here in a few weeks and I'd like to have that room finished when it gets here. I need to get motivated.

SOL - Yes, the marathon is at the "Mouse House" in your neck of the woods. It is Sunday, January 6. The race starts at 6:00 a.m. and I estimate that it will take me about 5 hours to finish. We plan to arrive in Orlando Saturday morning early, check-in, pick-up race stuff, eat dinner at 4:30, then we're off to bed about 8:00. It is VERY possible that we could meet up Sat afternoon or Sunday. They allow spectators into certain places in the park and I can get you all the details if you and the "crew" wanna come chear us on. I would absolutley  that! I have been thinking of something to put on my shirt about being sugar free or 3FC. I will come up with something I feel certain. It is very motivating to have people chear you on. Last time I ran it I was asking perfact strangers to clap for a group I was running in because I needed some encouragement. They were obviously looking for someone they knew that was in the race. Thankfully they curtiously obliged a pack of tired runners. I should post some of my race picks. They are funny. The park characters dress in costumes for photo opps. I ran with a disposable camera for that very reason. So I have some fun pictures. My main concern is the pre-race carbo dinner. It's a pasta dinner that's quite nice. Very informal and a great chance to meet other people. But the only catch is that it is that starchy, white :nono: stuff. I may make a plea to the race organizers to include some whole wheat, or I may be packing my own noodles. How much harm do you think it would do to eat the real stuff? It is considered a bad idea to eat foods that are not common to your regular diet before a race. The last thing you want is an upset stomach, especially when it could be avoided.

I'll be happy to share with anyone more info about the marathon.

Hope you all have a great night!

Peace,
FROG

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE CANADIAN WORLD TRAVELER!!!!

NANCE MY SHOULDER? GIRL, CAN'T YOU FEEL ME SITTING IN YOUR LAP???? Nancy, we are so much alike it's scary....everything you said in your post last night is ME IN A NUTSHELL!! I can totally relate in what you say about the socializing and not being as serious as we should be with the weight loss. I look at the people who have been on here 1 yr or less and the pounds that they have lost, and then there's ME :(
I originally lost around 36 lbs doing this WOE...hmpf!!!
I get so fired up when I read what everyone else is doing and then that's as far as it goes. I've gone out and bought food a thousand times but didn't use it wisely...I definately need to win the lottery just so I can have someone cook for me JUST WHAT I NEED TO HAVE and set it in front of me with no other options!
I have just NEVER had the mind set to lose weight. I even screwed up my stomach stapling! OH ****, ENOUGH BELLYACHING!!!! WE HAVE GOT TO DO THIS AND DO IT RIGHT!! NO MATTER WHAT!! I sure do wish we lived closer than we do. I think together we could succeed by helping each other! :^:

DEB Sorry that ELI didn't get to go out to dinner. BUT, I'M SOOOOOOO GLAD YOU DIDN'T ATTEMPT TO COOK!
Finely got the date of the engagement party. Tracy said the 28th of July..when is Lauren coming home from camp?
I think it would be fun to go to Orlando for FROGGIE'S run and be her cheering section! I'm game if you are?
BALI'S FOR $6.99??? You know me and a bargain!!!

LARA HOW IS THE NEW DO??? Thanks for the encouraging words. Your friend is wise...I wish I could say that I had that kind of will power

KELLY {{{{{{{{{WELCOME}}}}}}}}}} Glad to have you with us.

ANN WE'RE WAITING ON THE TRIP NEWS!!!!

MARIE ARE YOU EATING CAKE??? :nono:

Well girls....I've been on a bargain mission today....AND I FOUND ONE....got a DVD at WALMART for under $100, picked out 6 dvd tapes, got them home.....ready to hook up....all set for a night of movie watching......MY DAMN TV ISN"T HIGH TECH ENOUGH!!
I need some kind of adaptor that costs $30
Well, I boxed that big boy back up and will return it tomorrow. Until I buy a "HIGH TECH TV", my VCR will be JUST FINE

BIG BROTHER???? I'm a little disapointed in this season's bunch!
My BIG ORANGE FAN has been nominated to be kicked off!!!

Going to Tampa tomorrow to shop for a wedding gown...My Nephew is getting married next May. I won't be on the board until I get back. Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Hi everyone :):)

Deb - Thanks for the Birthday Card e-mail. It was interesting to read in the article you posted that high gi diets lowers the metabolic rate. One more reason to omit them from the diet. Glad you are gettingback to your normal eating - give those four pounds a chance to get lost again.

Thanks to everyone who posted birthday wishes.

This is my weekend to work so I had to work my birthday. At least it was a day shift so I had the evening free. I spent a quiet evening playing around with my new scanner that my ds bought me. I haven't found too many pictures to scan yet, except for some old ones. I still have film in my camera from my holiday. Hope to get it finished soon so I can get it developed and see if there is anything in there worth scanning. I celebrated my birthday on Thursday at my other sons house. They invited me to dinner as they had to go away for the weekend. My dil prepared a SB legal meal. We had barbecued chicken which had been marinated in blackened sauce (?) which was very hot and spicy. Also had grilled zucchini and salad. There was no birthday cake (I'm glad to say as I might have been tempted) - we had fresh blueberries for dessert and blackberry dessert wine which was delicious. I just finished off the last of the bottle this evening.

SolShine - It's good to see you posting again. I missed you and glad you are back. Sorry to hear about your cold. Hope you are feeling better soon. Also hope things go alright for you at work. That's definitely not a good sign that all those people from the other company were laid off.

Sef - One day I may try to make the bagels. I do make bread once in a while but I have to be in the mood. I like the oatmeal bread (I posted the recipe a couple of months ago) but I'm working more these days so don't have as much time for baking. It's a recipe I copied from the site of one of the flour companies and adapted it to SB.

Frog - That was very sad about the baby dying after being left in the car. What must that father be feeling. I read an almost identical story a year or so ago. These things happen all too frequently.

Bob - I can remember going to see Roy Rogers films. Saturday morning was kids time at the theatre and it used to be a riot. Everyone would sit there cheering and yelling for the good guys and screaming at the bad'ns. No, I am not eating cake to-day. I'm being a good girl! I declined all sorts of goodies at work to-day too.

Nance - How's the new hair do? Did you enjoy all the pampering.

Amseraphim - Welcome back. Hope you enjoyed your holiday.

Fillise - Good to see the pounds coming off. You'll soon be at the halfway mark.

Kelly - Welcome to the board.

Bye for now. Have to hit the sack soon as I have to be up for work in the morning.

Marie.

Hi Girls, it's almost 10:00pm. and I'm finally getting to the computer!

Fluff-n-fold went fine, still loook like me, just the hair is a little shorter and more styled.

Frog
The weather sounds great where you are at.....where do you live, it's not under your avatar? You must be so excited about getting into a size 8. That sounds like a fantasy size to me. You must be very proud!

ldblond
The reason I sounded sooooo down when you called on Friday was because I just got through saying goodbye to Dan the Man who left for his two week military annual training. I was sad girl, crying, trying to get my composure (sp?) before getting back to work, and if I told you "why" I sounded so bumbed out the mascara would have been running down the face all over again!

Deb
Just went to Trader Joes this evening! Got some goodies! Thought about you. Did the pictures of you and Ann get developed yet?

Rosalie
What that? You just turned 29? Hope you have a great Birthday!
Sounds like you have a wonderful family to celebrate it with! May all your wishes and dreams come true for you this year!

BOB
I think I need to write you a monster letter as to not bore the others....is the e.mail address on the BIO still correct? My doctor, and Debs, and others who have succeeded say "YOU HAVE TO WANT IT". I like you want to be thin, but haven't had a burning desire to get it accomplished. I can write down a list a mile long all the reasons why I should, why I need to...but haven't done it.
I was motivated with a capital "M" when I first started in April, was following plan, and guess what? It was working! Then I got off track and since then, don't even feel worthy to be keeping company on this board...but I am here. Why? Because I feel like it is my only hope. That these people are the only ones who could possibly understand how difficult it is for some of us. I WISH I could pay for a psych evaluation to find out WHY I can't get on track. I keep thinking there must be some reason I am failing myself. Self-esteem issues, fear factors, etc. I was asking at the beginning if anyone knew a good book about the "mental" part of it, and how people overcame their hangups to get on with achieving success. I know that despite me failing time and time again, slow changes are coming about for me. I can't drink regular coke anymore, it taste too sweet...I have my portions under a more reasonable size, I think about drinking water now and actually consume it on occasion...but I am far from doing the right thing. What's worse is everyone around me. My son saw me put a piece of brownie in my mouth and said "MOM!!! I THOUGHT YOU WERE DOING SB????" I went to the coffee shop and ordered a SF Coffee drink and then a pastry and the girl said "KINDA DEFEATS THE PURPOSE HUH?" I can't even tell you what that felt like coming from a stranger! My doctor said "How are you doing on your plan?" as he could easily see I had a lemonaide on my desk. I'm not fooling anyone, including myself.
I feel like an alcoholic who can't stop drinking, but who desperately wants to get sober. I realize I need to do this on my own, that no one can do it for me, but I'll tell you one thing....I NEED SUPPORT! I need it only a daily basis and I need accountability. Well, I wanted to talk with you....I know I put everyone else on the board asleep, but the can recover over some Starbuck Columbian! What's this I hear you and Debs are hooking up? Can I fly out to FL? :) SLUMBER PARTAY AT DEBS!

o.k......I will check in with the posse tomorrow. Going to read some SB if it kills me before counting sheep!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ROSALIE/MARIE!!!!!
http://www.shapeshakers.com/pics/ecake.jpg

Marie, sorry I’m late but since we’re six hours behind here in Hawaii I have an excuse. ;) I’m glad that you had a good time even though you had to work. The food sounds onolicious as we say in Hawaii! Enjoy being 29!!!!!!

Oh I have tried that whole wheat pastry flour too and it seems to be good for baking.

You are such a welcome addition to the forum. I love your enthusiasm, along with the other newbies like Sef. I feel like such an old-bie although I’m not really!

So about boobs. I voted “tummy” because that’s my problem area (pretty much to the point of being obsessed over it) and I see half of everybody feels the same way. But boobs are a pretty sensitive area (so to speak) for myself and most women too. You are right, both big and small boobs have their pros and cons. I had perfectly satisfying C cups that turned out to be mostly fat and almost entirely disappeared to my alarm and horror! So, I don’t mind the small boobs at all, in fact I greatly prefer small boobs to large and can even run without a sports bra.....but now they look rather deflated and disappointed! ;)

What I want to know is, who was the bi-ache who voted that she was perfectly satisfied with everything? LOL

Quilter/Kim
Glad you had a good time at the family reunion and I’m sure you’ll be sailing in the middle of the 160s soon!

Rusty
Not all soy milks are created equal. I have seen some PLAIN soy milk with as much as 22 grams of sugar per serving! Forget the vanilla and chocolate flavors. But if you are willing to spend a few cents extra look for one specifically labeled “unsweetened,” I can’t remember the brand name right now but there is one. It has somewhere between 1 and 2 grams of sugar. I have noticed an effect from soy milks with 7 grams of sugar. Yes, milk has natural sugar and I don’t know how much of an effect that has GI wise, but the sugar in soy milk is usually rice or barley syrup.

There are rice and almond milks too, but I have noticed those are normally higher in sugar and lower in protein than soy milk.

I am having a problem with milk myself right now. I want to give up canned evaporated and whole milk because it’s just ridiculous for me to be drinking those (usually I mix them in my ice milkshakes) but don’t want to pay for skimmed fresh milk or soy milk, so I may go ahead and get that big box of dried milk from Costco like I’ve been saying I’m going to do. That would go great in a ziplock bag as well to mix with my protein powder.

GatorGal
Great job on the treadmill! I can tell you from my own experience that three miles is a LOT (although less than Debbie’s LOL ) if you do it every day.

I told myself that I was so slow finishing the marathon because of my short legs, then I found out that the female 1st place winner (2000 Honolulu Marathon Champion Lyubov Morgunova, Russia, age 29, 2:28:33--New Course and Race Record) was only 5 feet tall! (Growl)

Here’s her picture:

http://www.honolulumarathon.org/elite/morgunova.jpg

That’s some serious muscle! For the record I can’t walk as fast as Debbie and on 4.5 miles she would probably kick my *** right now! hehe

Sef/Shirley
Wanted to tell you too that you are a great addition to the board! It is so exciting to see more and more people “turned on” to Sugar Busters.

Nancy
Whoohoo! (cat calls) Wanna know how that new hairdo turned out! You remind my of my Mom, it takes an act of Congress AND God combined to get her to do something nice for herself. You enjoy the pampering!

I can’t wear contacts any more either due to a severe viral infection. Doctor says at LEAST six more months! Glasses have totally changed my personality. No more eye makeup and/or dancing all night. ;) Not to mention snorkeling or swimming until I get my prescription mask. It doesn’t affect me when doing things like running or biking, but I just don’t feel comfortable out going “out” with my glasses on for some odd reason. Which of course, is probably a good thing.

Froggie
I forgot to say earlier that 9 minute miles are totally awesome. I am in awe and admiration. I was thinking of you when I got on the treadmill last night and did 2 miles at 6.2 mph which I think was 18:38, but I’m not sure because I was pretty fuzzy by the time I was finished. That’s faster than I normally go and I noticed that I was winded but not overheated as usual. The engine is finally starting to burn cooler perhaps. I was breathing like a locomotive but it was a great run, smooth and with a gradual cool-down.

I was mentioning that chick I worked up the nerve to introduce myself to the other day. She runs at about 6.1 or so also, and she looks like she has to work hard at it like we do...she’s a little heavy, not fat, has short legs and looks like she hasn’t been running all her life. I guess that’s why I related to her and wanted to meet her.

If you have any further insight, why do you feel that you run best on your period and that the perceived effort is greater during ovulation? I don’t really notice when I ovulate, but definitely feel a psychological drag during my period. I am in top notch form during the last few days of my period and about a week after.

I read your story of the kid left in the car with horror, thinking how could ANYONE do something like that, but then I thought about my own hectic life and how absolutely spacey I am (I once went to take money out of the ATM, and didn’t get any because my card was expired, but didn’t realize it until I was at the checkout counter!) So if the kid were asleep, I can see how it might happen. How horrid. I have always thought that losing a child through accidental neglect was the worst thing that could happen to me.

I’m all excited about your race. And you’ll get to meet the Florida gals! Whooohooo! I was surprised and pleased that there were still so many people at the finish line last year cheering me on when I finished at 9:22, I thought they would have all gone home for supper!!! ;) But they were very supportive, clapping and shouting encouragement, and it was greatly appreciated.

Deb
Happy birthday to Eli, a little late! Thanks for all the encouragement and information.

If somebody started throwing around some of the batches of bread that I have made, not only would the neighbors call the police but it would probably start World War III!

Lara
I’ve been struggling with milk too (see post to Rusty above) which, along with the cheddar cheese, has definitely affected my weight loss. I have been trying the milk-ice-shakes too (with protein powder) and while they are certainly delicious, they are deadly with whole milk. I have been very unhappy with the way things are going and examined my diet to see what I can let go of and still live. So I have decided to gradually let go of whole milk, evaporated milk, cheese, and dried fruits (I know they are supposed to be a no no anyway) for the time being. Wish us both luck!

I am a serious chocoholic too and let me tell you (as if I need to) the EFFECT of eating 4 pieces of candy can be much greater than the actual calories consumed, which are insignificant in the greater scheme of things. That’s what happened to me over Christmas with a net gain of 20 pounds which started with only a few pieces of chocolate!

So I have made the decision to stay away from chocolate—forever and completely for the time being. I hope you don’t have to resort to that too but it is definitely a problem for me, easier this way.

Susan
Glad the weight is cooperating even in difficult circumstances. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Kelly
Welcome to the forum! I thought I saw your name at the rather defunct overeaters anonymous forum here. I used to post there and in fact indirectly started the forum, it used to be kicking for a while, but it pretty much died after I left. This forum is definitely where it’s at!

SolShine
(((BIG HUGS!!!!!!)) So glad you’re back. Missed ya! Sounds like you’re going through a hectic period at work, that’s the way it goes sometimes. Glad you’re coming out of your funk...they are not fun! I hope you feel better physically too.

:)

Well I am having a difficult day. I’m not sure exactly why I’m in such a mire. I’ve found that my ways to cope with a funk have greatly changed. Like, instead of eating my brains out I try to root out the problem and resolve it, and turn to the treadmill for stress relief. But nothing seems to be working any more. I finally got my finances sort of sorted out, which was a big job, my laundry is in neat piles being washed, the kitchen is relatively clean and I got in a two hour session at the gym yesterday, you know, all the superficial “stuff” I “should” do, but I still feel kinda wired and draggy at the same time. I had to do the bookkeeping at work this morning and it took me HOURS to drag through what should have been 2 to 3 hours worth of work. I didn’t leave until 4. And now I have never felt so bored and distracted. Even worked on updating the website but was bored with that too. Martin is going to a concert on the marine corps base with friends and I’m pissy because I was getting “uninvited” vibes (he is meeting a girl there apparently I found out later).

So I have been snacking on cheese all day long, not much else to eat otherwise, and fighting the temptation to do something really naughty. I’m tired of distracting myself my the real issues and tired of trying to dig to what the real issues might be, all at the same time.

I guess it’s time for a nap. Sorry to be so pissy tonight.

Love,

Chris

ok chicks...am going to try again!
couldn't sleep and decided to read what was posted...haven't read anything since march or so...yikes.
did pretty well on SB in january and february and most of march and lost 20 pounds. but went back to old habits and gained 10 of it back. i go back to school in less than a month and need to get those good SB habits back before i get real busy.
i attribute a lot of my initial success to the inspiration here... i love the motivational mondays...i often printed what ya'll posted!
my 25 year old skinny sister lives with me so i get pretty bummed sometimes with sibling rivalry, she got the skinny genes!!!
i'll do my best to keep in touch!

Wow, it's been awhile. I'm shocked to see the little emoticons chart...You guys are getting very spiffy!

I haven't posted or lurked in a couple of months. I have been SBing , but have had a few lapses. I weigh the same, which is close enough to goal to live with, but not there yet. Gotta get serious here.

My very small wedding has turned into a sort of small wedding. We had thought about 25 people, it's looking more like 60 at this point. Everything is taken care of, it's on July 28, and off to Maine we go!

I have taught summer school most of the summer, that Leap test is a killer. For non-Louisiana people, that's the state mandated test that fourth graders have to pass in order to go to fifth grade. I hope most of my summer school class passed it, but results aren't in.

It was fun buying a size 10 wedding dress, even if it is a mother of the bride kind of dress. Gotta watch those sugars so I can still wear it if one of our children gets married iin the next few years!
My downfall this summer really has been lack of exercise. The gym I was going to has closed, and in this small town there aren't many alternatives. It's stinkin' hot here, so there's another good excuse to stay indoors. I have a million of 'em!

It's good to see so many familiar names and some new ones. I really intend to post more often...it helps so much with the WOE.

Good Morning Girls. I can see hardly anyone is awake and posting yet. Had a chance to get caught up and read the BIO board.....which leads me to questions and comments, if I may have the liberty!

MissGrace
You are in! You cracked me up with "Shag" and "Januaryish"...those are total Nancisms.....next you will tell me you've watched Austin Powers and then we will have bonded for life! Welcome to the board! I have two sisters...one thinner, one bigger, and we all obsess with the weight. I have plenty of skinny-mini's at the work place to have to gaze upon and get ill over though, so I know what that in-your-face stuff can be like.
Hope you post frequently and get to know us all. Looking forward to getting to know you better, you sound like loads of fun!

Kelly...aka Donna
These type of "Usernames" really confuse me, especially if I haven't had coffee yet. Lucky for you I am on my second cup. If you plan on living on the wild side, we are all trying to meet in Vegas in October, and I want you to know you will be one of the first people I will insist wears a name tag! Where about from Ma are you from? I have been there several times, love the east coast! The people crack me up there. They are ALL characters!

Tami from Turlock
If you are lurking.....what's the deal with posting a BIO and then not posting on the board???? WHERE ARE YOU????? Where about is Turlock. I grew up a few years in my life in Soledad by Salinas in Central Ca. Loved it out there in farm country. If you see this message, please start posting on this board. You seem like a neat person. Loved the picture with you and the kidlettes!

Luzcious
Another M.I.A. person.....haven't seen you post! I fear that you are so love-stricken that your BF is pre-occupying the majority of your time! Let us know if you are alive and well and are lurking!

Snooks, TiggermeLong time no post...what have the two of you been up to?????? Curious minds want to know!

AnnieaWhere are you???? Saw you posting a little before....now your gone :(. Are you vacationing in Tahiti with no access to a PC? Let us know!

MargaretA
Glad to see you posting again! Glad to hear you are still on track with SB. SO what's new in your life??? Any vacation plans? What's the skinny?

Forgive me, I didn't take down notes while I was reading all the post....EYEGLASSES...it's all coming back to me! O.K. Girlfriend, let me tell you the deal! I am not a vain person....swear, but I feel like a total McNerd wearing them. I wanted to get some cool hop glasses like Janine Garafalo (sp?) would wear, but they looked completely ridiculous on me. My new specks are more updated than the last pair, but it's making me feel like a total "MOM"...which I am, but I don't want a mini-van, wear polyester slacks kinda image. I am a wanna-be artist, who needs to look hip! I found a doctor who does lazer surgery for $495 an eye....now to start saving, which is a near impossibility for me. I'll keep you posted!

SEF
What's the latest? Hope you haven't passed out from all the paint fumes? Is that DS and DIL done yet???? What color is your room? I'm in a serious mood to go to Home Depot today. Saw we still have a fresh roller in the garage. Could equal trouble! Have you found agave nectar in your neck of the woods? Have you tried it yet?

Fillise
How's the knee? Are you jumping rope yet? Are you getting a good break from work for recoup time?

Frog
Did you have a night under the stars?

Sol
What's going on? Have you figured out if you and the Vincemeister are coming to Vegas yet or not. Like not is an option!

Where's my Jane Austen bud been? I know you are home.....probably lurking, but not posting :(

Got your message.....I was out. I thought you were going dark?
Are you happy? Did you have fun up in Idlywild? How was the weather up there? Did you behave when the fam went to the pie shop? Fess up!!!!

I was at the grocery store and found "Flavorganics" pure coffee extract. They actually use "AGAVE" nectar as the sweetner! It was $4.59 for a bottle GEEZ, but I bought it. Faris is sleeping so I can't blast the blender, but I'm dying to try it! What are you up to? I feel like I am all alone on the board! :(

Hello Everyone!

It is beautiful ineast central Alabama today! I was able to go out and water my flowers this morning. Slowly but surely I am able to do a little more every day. Thanks for all your support! It means a lot to me.

I'm gained back a pound, I've eaten good fri and sat. Since I was eating very little at all from Tues -Thurs. I think I finally have settled on a 2 lb post-surgery weight loss--which I'll take! I have noticed that I am hungry all the time now. Not for sweets or starches, but as if my body is telling me it needs the nutrients to heal itself. So the last two days I've been eating smaller meals, but more often. That seems to help. A friend brought me a basket of home-grown tomatoes yesterday, so in a few minutes I'm going to make me a sliced mater sandwich (on SGWW bread, of course). Yum!

Gator--The race sounds exciting. I think we should all come to Orlando to cheer you on! I think you probably need to eat the pasta before the race. There is a place in the SB book where it talks about SB not being the best WOE for elite athletes because their bodies actually NEED the carbohydrates. I think your body will need fuel during the race. It will be burned--there won't be any left over to convert to fat cells! I'd hate for your body to start having to consume muscle or organ tissue just to get you through the marathon. Trust me--you will not gain fat cells by running a marathon! You may add muscle--and as well all know muscle weighs more than fat, but it also burns more calories than fat!

Rosalie--I hope you had a wonderfulbirthday yesterday!

Deb and Fly--I have to laugh about the south-oriented boobs. A few years ago I took my youngest niece to the beach. She was about three at the time and when we got home I threw her into the shower with me. When I undressed she took one look at me and told me "Susu you sure have long titties." I roared--out of the mouths of babes!

Kelly--Hello and Welcome! I hope you will find this WOE (way of eating) to be as healthy as I have. I just celebrated my one year anniversary and have lost 61 lbs! I use Splenda and it doesn't bother me. I use it in my coffee and in baking. I know others have their personal preferences, but you just need to try it and see.

SOL--I sure hope you have a better week next week!

MissGrace--Welcome back! It is good to see you posting again.

I hope everyone has a good day today!

Good Sunday Morning Everyone:wave:

Got up early to get in my walk and have a few minutes to post before I start getting ready to take Lauren to the bus.

My walk was great today! I'm HAPPY TO REPORT a NEW WALKING TIME!!! I had the best time ever, 51:30 exactly for 4.5 miles! WOO HOO! I surprised myself! I did 17 jogs, but a few of them were longer than usual, so I guess that's what got me the better time. So it's starting out to be a good day:)

I only wish the scale would give me as much joy now. It's still up 3.5lbs from my lowest (I thought it was 4lbs before, but I was wrong). TOM is ending today, so I am hoping to see a loss on the scale tomorrow-okay, I'm praying for a loss on the scale tomorrow!

Lauren's just about ready to go-we'll leave here around 9:30pm to get there a little early and pray they'll get all her crap on the bus. I've always taken them up since it was more economical doing 3 kids than doing the bus, (when Michael and my nephew went up with me), but with it being only her (my nephew is there already), it doesn't pay for me to drive her. She looks like she's taking everything but the kitchen sink!

FROG, CONGRATS on those 8's! Don't spend too much, the way you're going, you'll be in 6's soon! Hey, I'm game for meeting in MOUSE COUNTRY, esp when it's in January and cool! I'll come up to cheer you on!! I'll try to rack my brains for a catchy slogan for you to wear-I'm good with naming pizzas, maybe I can think of something for a t-shirt (we had a pizza called THE ULTIMATE and I had T-shirts that said: Experience the Ultimate, the Ultimate Experience-not too bad, eh?) Would love to see those pictures you have from last time!!

BOB, Eli loved your e-card - he saw it last night-trust me, just because it was his birthday, I didn't give him any special treatment, it was another day like any other, and the gas was rolling in:s: Yep, Bali among others, very cheap place to take you to, among others;) Did you have a good time in Tampa - get a dress????

JUST GOT HOME! Couldn't finish my post before I had to take Lauren to the bus. She was excited and couldn't wait to go, met a new friend that she's been talking to on the phone and e-mailing-it's the girls first year at the camp and the owners asked Lauren to call her and introduce herself to her-they never had met before today and the way they hugged each other, you'd think they were long lost friends! Very pretty girl too. So, she's gone!

Skies have opened up and the heavens are raining really hard on us-it's so dark outside, feel like crawling into bed and taking a nap!!! I made it home just in time, thank goodness. Okay, back to my posts...

ROSALIE, glad you were able to get your celebrating in before your b.day since you had to work. Did they know it was your bday at work?? New scanner-that means pictures will be posted soon, correct????? No excuses now Marie!!

NANCE, finished the roll of pics today when I took Lauren to the bus, so I will take them in probably tomorrow and get copies on disc-so soon, you'll see a recent mug shot, well, at least you will if there's a decent one in there to post! Don't tell BOB, but when she comes down here, it's not the PARTAY HOUSE, it's DEBS DETOX DUNGEON!!!! How I wish you'd come down here-I can do a 2-4-1 deal!!!!!! Yeah, yeah, just keep rubbing my nose in it that you have a TJ's and I don't!!!!! Flavorganics is a good brand and that's an okay price for 2oz bottle, I get the Frontier brand and pay $3.69 a bottle for 2oz. Okay, what I do, I take about a teaspoon of the coffee extract and a tsp of carob powder, 1 to 1.5 packets of stevia, cup of milk and about a cup of crushed ice-spin it around til smooth, and viola-you'll love it!!!

SPARKLE, I too would love to have the person who's happy with their body reveal themselves-they must be so well adjusted! What do you mean, you can't walk as fast as me-you'd burn rubber and leave me in the dust. I don't think I go all that fast-my legs are so short, they won't allow me to! I'll give Eli your bday wishes-thanks! I loved your comment about your baking abilities!!!! LOL!!! Chris, when you change from whole milk to skim, just do it gradually, cut back on the WM and put some SM in it's place and keep reducing the WM with SM. I have found milk, like the Lactaid brand and the one you can keep on your shelf until you open it, Parmalat, taste much richer than the regular skim milk, which does seem like white water at times-also, I've heard that if you take SM and put in powdered SM with it, it makes it richer and at the same time, boosts the calcium of the milk.

GRACE, WELCOME BACK! Glad to see you back on the board. Hope the second time's a charm. I'm sure if you put your mind to it, those 10lbs will come off quickly-we're here to support you. Thanks for putting your BIO on the BIO BOARD! Umm, my sister, she too had the skinny genes/jeans and I was ALWAYS the fat one-NOT ANY MORE!!!!!:D Once my sister had kids she got bigger, not that she's really fat, but I'm quite a bit smaller than her-you never know what the future may hold!!!!

MARGARET, seems oldies are coming out of the wood-works today! WELCOME BACK! Of course, you are always welcomed to come back to the board!!! Wow, the wedding is coming up, and soon-60 is a nice size wedding, I wouldn't consider that small-the more the merrier I hope. Would love to see you post a wedding pick after it's all said and done and you get back from your honeymoon. Not sure if your BIO is still on the BIO BOARD-you may want to check and see.

FILLISE, glad to see you are getting better daily. Listen to your body and eat when you are hungry, things will pan out back to normal soon. Mater sandwich? Sounds interesting! Oh yes, these babies of mine do point south when I stand-but when I lie down-one goes East, the other goes West!

WOW, seems I am all caught up now!!!

PICTURE BELOW Okay, here's something for you all to print on your printers and throw darts at. When our friends from the UK were here in March, they took a few pictures of us, and here's one that the 4 of us are in-that's the kids, Michael and Lauren, ME and then the BIG BOY (who seemed to be having a fluffy hair day-he had just gotten home from work). I know I look like Dookie, I have my hair pulled back-something I do a lot and doesn't really look good on me. But there you go-it may be 4 months old, but until I get the new pics done this week-you can suffer with that image! LOL!

Please remember, TOMORROW STARTS THE NEW WEEKLY BOARD and it's MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY so if you have any words of wisdom you'd like to share with the board, please, try to post them tomorrow!!!

Will check in with you all tonight!!

Here's one more so you can pic your choice of which picture to throw darts at. These are our friends from the UK (Eli took the pic so he wasn't in it), you can't see Chris' husband as it's too dark, her daughter Melissa is in the back of Michael and Lauren.

Good Morning! Beautiful day here today. Feeling a little stiff from my run yesterday. Plan to do yoga and the ab workout today to try to loosen these stiff legs and shoulders.

Stayed inside last night. Probably a good idea, as sleeping on the air mattress when you feel stiff is not the best sounding idea, now is it?

Have been out pricing tv's with DH. Oh brother are they expensive. I will let him do the shopping for this purchase, since it is usually me driving the train on home improvements!

Am about to go to my friend's pool for a little sun and soak.

SPARKLE - I was not so fast Friday, ran 9:35 first mile and put WAY too much pressure on myself to be fast, so I ran without a watch Sat. I admire your ability to run on a TM. I have always found that a challenge for my mind (I get bored) and my pacing. I used to think that I had a problem until I talked with the Physical therapists where I used to work. They explained that other than the fact that you are running on a steady grade, running on a TM is many ways harder than on the road. When you are running on the road you are able to immediately adjust your pace to meet your needs. On a TM you're committed to the pace you've set on the controls. With that said, I wonder how much faster, longer you could run outdoors? You are doing great with your running! The info I shared regarding ovulation and perceived energy came from a running book I have for women by Claire Kalwochek (sp?). I have loaned it to a friend that has become interest in running. When I get it back I will look it up for you. I think one of the points that she made is that your pain threshold is lower during that phase. That's why people say that you should avoid the dentist, leg waxing, etc. during this menstrual phase. I was in the back of the pack at the Disney marathon, so I could relate to your story about people being there and being enthusiastic for you. Have you last more wieght since you ran your last marathon? When was that? Was it the Honolulu marathon?

NANCE - you and BOB better hang in there! You both sound as though you've had a bit of a mental break-through, which I think will be enough momentum to get you back on plan. Maybe a Chuckwagon is too slow for you ladies. Maybe you need a space shuttle instead? :) I live in NC. I need to update my info. I took it all of when I felt as though Spewer and friends may be looking at my posts. But since I've decided that I don't care if they read this or not, I will try to remember to update my info next week.

BOB - missed Big Bro last night. What happened? Who is head of household and who else is nominated besides the mortgage broker? I was glad that the weird guy with the dental issues is gone. He scared me. And what Krista doing kissing that? YIKES!

I am sure there are others that I need to say hey too and that have posted since I began this thing at 8:30 and it is now almost 3:00. Will catch y'all later!

Peace,
Frog

And I'm not referring to the scale. Hi Ya'll. have been lurking, but didn't feel like posting. See no one missed me anyway. Yes, I guess I've been feeling a little sorry for myself, Have been very depressed all week, Have not been able to return to work due to the side effects of the Tegretol the doc put me on for this Trigeminal Neurolgia. He's going to send me to a Neurologist, hoping to get an appoitment soon.

I have been having trouble eating, so as a result, not sticking to program as strictly. Also seem to be retaining fluid, also a side effect of the meds. Face is puffy but who cares, right? Sorry you guys, didn't mean to complain, but it seems like that's what I do best these days. Got to go.

Well, happy Sunday. I tried a post and attached an image that was too large and lost the whole thing:( That's what the argh was all about. So....here it goes again.

Bob-Would love to go out in that wagon. Let's try to hit those big rain puddles along the way. Bummer about the DVD but don't give up. Soon as you can get a hi-tech TV and go for it. With your movie enthusiam you deserve it. Get yourself a surround sound system after that. Well worth it.

Nancy-That primp sounded good. Glad you did it. Looks like you're the goddess for sure.

Idblond-Thanks for the tips (oh Bob too). I'm definitely going vitamin shopping tomorrow. The swims have helped. It is so assuring there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Deb-You are hysterical. About the boobs I mean. I'm going to make a million finding an easy inexpensive way to relieve that problem for us. Thanks for the image help. We'll see if it works this time. The fam is beautiful. Hope Lauren has fun at camp.
Question about your walks. Do you do 17 jog steps in walking or at 17 times you job for unspecified distance?
Sol-Love and Prayers go to you.

Rosalie-Sounds like the perfect b-day. You deserve it.

Frog-size 8. You go you. Hope that stiffness is gone soon.

Sparkle-I was real inspired by the 5' runner. So there is no excuse unless you have no legs.

missgrace-I had a skinny sister too. Hang in there. Remember..you both deserve to be thin. Except when she steals your clothes :D

Margaret--60 sounds like a good wedding size.

sef-painting? Must've missed that. Hope the color is exactly what you wanted. Caught Murder in Mesopotamia but fell asleep right before the ending. Please put me out of my misery and tell me who did it? Thanks a bunch.

Fillese-your boobs story practically had me pee my pants. Aren't kids the funniest?

We got back late Thursday night. We decided to come on back a day earlier. Although we loved where we were and hanging out in Key West, when you've been somewhere before the newness is sort of worn off. Also, it rained about half the time we were there:( When we were there 2 yrs back, it was sort of like that. So we weren't able to experience a "sunset" on Mallory square. This year wasn't much different. We checked out Mallory square on Sunday night, and there definitely was not sunset to visualize. We managed to come back Wed night and watched from some marina docks, and watched quite a unique sunset!!!! Just to the right of the sun going down was a localized shower. As the sun dipped it was hidden by a cloud for a few moments, but we were blessed to see it pop out as it sank some more before completely setting. We did get some pictures. I sure hope to share them with you all some how:lol: NOW.. as far as being SB legal:spin:!!!!! Honestly, I didn't do TOO bad. I TRIED my best to keep Debbie out of our RV for fear of being arrested on site!!!!! We ALL know she is THE SB police:nono: Luckily she must have been feeling a bit lenient that day. Maybe having Lauren and Eli there helped. I had made a yummy breakfast casserole for us to eat 2 of the mornings for breakfast, so that was OP. But between a few meals ate out, AND the yummy drinks here and there, I am content with how I faired. Oh, SEF, I have to come clean!!!! I did get a wee bit cocky one of the days:o We just HAD to try a maragarita from where else but - MARAGARITAVILLE!!!!! - MAN, it was kick butt. Well, I almost thought I was gonna kick butt. One sales person and I weren't hitting it off too well. I just had to turn around and walk out. Don't get me wrong. I love shopping in all the stores on Duval, BUT from someone who was just there 2 years ago, they can't pull the wool over on me!!!! 99% of the shop owners are foreign. The prices on stuff has become higway robbery more so. And now they do this trick where when you buy t-shirts you have to pay X-tra for logos. NOWWW... who do THEY think fell out the coconut tree. NOT ME. I just made sure whatever shirt I got already came with logo on it. Anyway, back to getting cocky. Craig, Gary, and Karen were picking on me saying it was the Maragaritaville maragarita.. can you believe that!!!!!! We ventured out in the boat Monday... and for me, I MEAN ventured out. We have a 17ft boat. Craig and them proceed to want to ride out to this tower we could see from near shore. I was weary, but said ok. Well, as we kept getting further and further from land, I was getting that panicky feeling. When we finally got there, there was another boat there that told us where to snorkel. It was was beyond the tower. I got my snorkel stuff on and got in and got calmed right away!!! It was so pretty. Thank goodness.....saw NO sharks. Our trip that day was cut short though, because of those sneak-up afternoon storms. We almost got caught in it out in the boat. We did have to endure the water getting rough as the weather got more windy beofre the storm. The only other boating day was more a trial and error day. We really didn't know where to go. We tried going on what is called the backcountry - not on the the Altantic side - and it was too unpredictable. We kept hitting bottom. So, we turned that boat around and headed back through the canals to the Atlantic side.

TO BE CONTINUEDDDDDDD.....
GOTTA GOOOO...CRAIG JUST BACK WITH PHOTOS!!!!!!!!

amseraphim
07-15-2001, 06:37 PM
.......Craig just returned from Walmart with photos. Deb the 2 pictures I got of us on my camera turned out GOOD!!!!!!!! I will have to get these put on a disk or something. I also have pics of my veggie garden I would like ya'll to see. Some of the photos came out kind of dark:( Not sure of it was from the cloudy weather or my flash:?:

OK..... so back to the boating. We ended up finding a neat little marina that second boat trip. We also got to explore all the canals around the marina and check out the neat houses. That day was a nice day. We spent a good amount of time out enjoying the sun. We wish we could have had more days like that one. We never did the Dry Tortugas trip. One of the locals said if we were mainly going for the snorkeling, it wasn't worth the trip. I am glad we didn't go with the way the weather was constantly changing!!!!! I really would have been PANICKING and probably been sea sick:eek: That trip is a mere 70 nile, 2 1/2 hr boatride. When Thursday morning came, we got our stuff loaded up and started ending out. We made 2 more "tourist" shopping stops. We actually got our best buys from those stores. Craig spoiled me and we bought a lovely wood-carved statue of 2 dolphins swimming around each other, and another wood-carved statue of an egret/heron type bird. We bought a cute Welcome sign with a tuna hanging from it to hang at the dock. The prices were reasonable. The gang practically had to drag me back to the RV. We made it back to our IL's about 11:30 Thursday night.. safe and sound. Thank all of you for your prayers while we were gone.

If anyone noticed, from last WIW until I got home, I gained 4.5lbs. I am gradually dropping. This morning I was was UNDER 124. As soon as I find my assigned seat on the WAGON, it will be full speed ahead........RIGHT BOB!!!!!!!! ARE YOU WEARING YOUR SEATBELT??????

Gotta close for now. We are meeting our buds for supper and share trip pictures. I am glad to be home, and back here with my GREAT group of supporters!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evening All:wave:

Just got home, went out to dinner instead of Eli cooking. Went to a well known BBQ place called SHORTY'S. I love their coleslaw and haven't had any since I started SB-but did tonight. They only give you a few ounces as a side dish, which was more than enough. It's not sweet, so I hope there wasn't any sugars in it-I didn't bother asking, really didn't want to know. Got white meat and a sweet potato-ate a lot, for me at least.

MELF, of course you were missed, was wondering why you hadn't posted, as I do with everyone when they are away from the board for a while. I hope you get out of your funk, I don't like hearing that you are feeling down-and don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean that I feel you shouldn't tell us how you are feeling, just wish you weren't feeling as such. I hope they are able to find a drug better suited for you to help you-please, let us know how you are doing-and don't hesitate to tell us how you are feeling-we really do care!!!!{{HUGS}}

FROG, thanks for the compliment:) I do say something nice about myself once in a while, on those days that I think I look okay-but honestly, when my hair is pulled back like it is, I don't think I look all that great. And yes, Eli does make a mean frap. and he gives WONDERFUL hugs!!!!

FLY, oh, I hope that was a picture you were trying to post!!! Whatever it is, please try again. Just remember, images have to be 40K or less. If not, you can load it up on your FTP site through AOL and put a link in your post for us to see. If you aren't sure how to do it, just let me know and I can help! When I walk/jog I do xx jogs within my walks-I'll walk then jog a stretch of a street until I can't do anymore and then walk again. Sometimes it's a 10th of a mile, sometimes 1/5 of a mile-it varies. So some days, I may do less jogs, but they will be longer in length, or vice-versa. Did I confuse you now???

AMSER, sounds like you had a good time, despite the weather. After we met, it rained up here not long after you left. This is summer in Florida-come after Oct. and your bound to have beautiful weather the majority of the time. Can't wait to see the pics! I just finished my role, so will take it in tomorrow, should have pics back towards the end of the week, will get mine on disk so I can share with everyone!!

I'll check in with you all later tonight!

EVENING EVERYBUDDY :D

WHAT A DAY!!!! AND DID WE FIND A BARGAIN!! We went to DAVID'S BRIDAL.....WHAT A RIP OFF went in when they opened and was there for two hours. Then to lunch at STEAKnALE. Then we were off to DEMETRIOS BRIDAL and we should have been there the whole afternoon! One whole side of the store was coutoure and the other was 20% to 50% off
depending on the ticket that you drew from a bowl. Tracy was trying on some really beautiful gowns and everyone was prettier than the last. She had found on in a Brides magazine and they had it there.....ABSOLUTLY BEAUTIFUL.... but only in a size 14 and she is an 8! They pinned it up but it just didn't do the trick. OH, she was lovely in it, but once you order it, it's yours with no refunds....she was just a little scared because the neckline didn't fall correctly....we found another sleeveless with a battenburg lace bodice to a point at the waist. Tuille for the bottom...OH MY GAWD it's BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Everyone in there stopped to look at her...even the people buying dresses!!! THEN....they told her she had better draw her ticket..... 50% off!!!!! YEAH BABY!!!! ....SO...it started out at $950....marked down to $399 and 50% off of that!!!! $199!!!!!! YEAH BABY!!! Her veil will end up costing more than her dress...

NANCE Yes, please do write to me...I think we need each other!!! I sure do wish you COULD come to DEBS....See, I told you she was going to LOCK ME UP IN THAT 4th BEDROOM!!!!
I shall send you my work email so if you want to drop me a line during the day, I can answer right away...and I have only one word to say in reference to your entire post....EXACTLY!! :(
I'm so glad that you at least have LARA there for some close comfort if you need some one on one....Just know that I'm here, just 3000 miles away!!! ;)

DEB Did I see a bare leg shot in the first picture?? I noticed that the famous black leggings were on in the next picture! :smug:
REALLY GOOD PICTURE OF ALL FOUR OF YOU
I'm ready to pack my panties, so let me know when....just remember, the weekend of the 28th is for the engagement party.
I WANT SOME OF THAT EXTRACT!!!!!

ANN Sounds like you had a really good time..Even if it did rain!! It's nice just to get away, but it's always great to be back home!!
Yes, I've got those seatbelts back on!! I'm about to agree with FROGGIE and a shuttle might just be what NANCE need to blast us off... I'm hoping that when I get down to Debbie's that she can get me started on the right path!! GAWD knows that I won't be getting hold of anything that I'm not supposed to have!

MARGARET GOSH...it's been a while...I'm so glad you're doing well. The wedding is litterally just around the corner! Sounds like you've got everything well in hand...are you ready for that trip to MAINE???
You'll have to excuse NANCY she's very inquizitive (sp?) and doesn't mind asking questions....ESPECIALLY THINGS SHE SHOULD HAVE READ UP ON BEFORE SHE ASKS THEM!!!! DUH...NANCY....VACATION????? HELLO........... It's called a HONEYMOON!!!!
Glad you're back...WE'VE MISSED YOU>>>>

MELF NOT MISS YOU???? ARE YOU ON DRUGS???? Well, I guess you are...but NEVER question that we don't miss you...Hope you're feeling just a little better...I've caught the "tooth" problem, and now have to figure out whether or not to make a quick trip to S.C to see my cousin's husband, or enlist the services of someone here....I did have a dentist here, but he committed suicide!!!

GRACE Glad to see you again...stick around...these women will have you in shape before school starts...

FROGGIE Krista is HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD and she nominated the BIG ORANGE FAN and the little short girl...cant remember her name ....starts with an "A"...i think. Yes, that guy with the teeth....or should I say "lack of teeth" was SCAREY!!!
I'm glad he's gone. I wanted Mike and Will nominated to be kicked out...WILL HAS GOT TO GO!!!
Girl I will be right there for you in January....My cousins daughter and her husband run in that every year...

SUSAN O HOW I LOVE MATER SAMICHES....did you put MAYO on it too? YUMMMMMMMMM...For those of you who don't know....Alabama grows the best tomatoes you will ever put in your mouth...If you ever get your hands on some....GRAB THEM and RUN to the nearest kitchen and make yourself a SAMICH w/mayo.....
Glad you're doing so much better...I've already got you lined up for that audition with the WAR EAGLE CHEERLEADERS!! :s:

Ladies, I hope I haven't missed anyone...got to get reclined...
Have a great evening....

Evening All

Sparkle - Thanks for the BIRTHDAY CAKE - I'm glad it was an E-CAKE and not a real one. This is the first birthday I have had without a real cake. I thought my family was very considerate not buying one. I really didn't miss it. Why can't you go dancing with glasses? I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one on the dance floor wearing glasses. There's no need to look frumpy - there are lots of good styles available. Going dancing with glasses on your face would sure beat sitting at home alone!

Deb - Congrats on the new walking time. And way to go on the new jogging achievement. You will be jogging the whole 4.5 miles before you know it. I still have film in my camera to use up. Soon as it is finished I will get them printed and see if there is anything worthwhile to post. I've been practising with the scanner and have downloaded a couple of pics to Gatherround.com and created an album. No, the gals at work didn't know it was my birthday. I made a point of not telling them. I just told one person it was 'soon'. Great pictures you posted.

Melf - Sorry to hear of the problems you are having with the meds and the pain. And yes I did miss you. I was wondering why you hadn't posted in a while. Please keep us informed of what is going on and I hope things turn around for you soon.

Missgrace - Welcome back. I hope to see you on the wagon again. Special K is O.K. according to the SB authors, it has a gi of about 55. Also sourdough bread in moderation. There is an article on sourdough bread on the FOOD INFORMATION BOARD.

MargaretA - Good to hear that you are keeping up with SB. Staying the same is certainly better than gaining. Only ten days to the big day!!!!!!!And into a size ten - that's great.

Fillise - Glad to hear you are beginning to feel better.

Amser - Sounds like you enjoyed your holiday, but it is always good to get back home again, isn't it.

BOB - Sounds like you enjoyed the shopping trip. Thats a great bargain your niece got with the wedding dress.

Frog - Hope the Yoga helped with getting your muscles back in gear.

All for now.

Yesterday was busy and I seem to have lost it along the way. I really don't know where it went, just all of a sudden it was bedtime! I hate missing a day, takes so long to read board, but here goes.

NANCE - Saw your post about the cabbage diet. I stuck to it for a couple of weeks and I like cabbage....but enough was enough. My friend went on it the same time, in fact since she worked I made her a huge pot too. She couldn't work after eating it,
she was too busy sitting on the throne. It didn't affect me that way, but did lose a few pounds.

My dil works for a chiropractor who has been using SB for a long time and is just maintaining now. He told her that when his weight would get stuck or even now when he wants to lose a couple, for him it's cut back on fats. He will allow himself
only 5 cashews. So I guess it's the old story, which works best for you.

It's a shame you're father's nh doesn't make use of volunteers. When I was Director I would go to different club meetings, community meetings and speak on and solicit volunteers. This world runs on volunteers!

I thought the fluff and fold would be a total new look, instead you went for a more tried and true look apparently.

The computer/craft area still has to be painted. Don't know when the mood will strike them. It will be antique white, really a light beige and one wall will be a sort of golden beige. My bedroom is lavendar and my sitting room is light pink above chair rail and a darker rose below. Gd and I share a bathroom. That is decorated
with a Wyland motif, and the walls are a deep sea green/blue with a Wyland shower curtain and border print. Black towels. Gd's room is eggplant and dark forest green. So you can tell we like color up here as opposed to the beiges down stairs!! Never leave a fresh roller in sight!!! I want Home Depot stock!!!

I used the nectar in the bagels and in my shakes. It's good. Found it at a local HFS.

BUTTERFLY - Watched a Poirot last night, the rich antique dealer killed in a room whose door and windows were locked.

Felt energy from somewhere! Cleaned closet. Well, actually I was looking for something and it wound up to be a project, and things were moved around so it looked like I cleaned it!!!!!

Maybe if we all stood on our heads our boobs would be going north again!

The husband did it. Tied a rope to the mill stone. He's on roof, drops mask down to window, she now knows it's a mask. He pulls mask away. She opens window to see where mask came from, he drops stone, hits her head, he pulls stome up. Goes down and goes into wife's room. Pulls body from window, shuts window, sees blood on rug and rearrages it so blood not visible. Cries out in alarm and there you are. All rush in and wonder how she was killed! Of course the little gray cells solved it!

FROG - You have to reword your encouraging words to me! It should be "keep your chinS up"!! Believe it or not I have more than one! You know you may be right, someone on SB shouldn't be on a CHUCKWAGON (after all that denotes food!) maybe catch the stage, an Overland Express.

DEB - I always thought that you pretesth too much about being a cook. But I have it on good authority that you are really not a cook. Yet you post all these recipes! Apparently you are good read, and can tell that a recipe OUGHT to be good. Oh!
One other thing about the bagels, I was going to have one this morning and they remaining four were moldy. Probably becasue they are all natural, no preservatives and because it's so humid here. Next time I'll freeze them and only take one or two at a time. By the way, pretty lady, are you fishing for compliments? You look great!

LDBLOND - I don't about other ways, but to keep salad makings fresh I use the bag greens, then I wash and drain/wipe dry everything else. I cut/slice/dice and put batch of veggies in airtight Rubbermaid containers. I never wash mushrooms they
should only be wiped off with a damp paper towel (and I mean damp not wringing wet!) Then when you want a salad, you can pull out a container of peppers etc. take what you want, reseal and you're in business. The veggies will keep fresh for 3 or 4 days at least. I also have grated cheeses, chopped eggs and Hormel Bacon Bits. The bits are real bacon and I can get a 1# package in Sam's for the price of 2 or 3 little jars in the supermarket that only equals about 6 oz. You can divide pkg and freeze part. What I like, is that being naturally lazy I only have a mess once a week or so and I don't have to take time on preparation each time I want a salad.

FILLISE - Glad you are progressing so well.

AMSER - Welcome back! Tsk, Tsk! Cocky! Well, you did it and you were glad! Now get back to earth and kick some butt with SB legal! My ds goes to Key West on business and says that Duval Street is a tourist trap, everything overpriced and to
him (who would like to live in the middle of nowhere) overcrowded. I'm a sunset kind of gal, post one of your pics.

SPARKLE - Thanks for the compliments. I have never felt so at ease as I do with the ladies on this board. The welcome has been great, I found a penpal amd friend, and have learned so much. I made a copy of your sunset picture and it is by the c
omputer where I can admire it. It is so peaceful and reminds me how insignificant my little gripes are. Thanx!

We get pissy or whiney or ornery and then apoplogize for it. But it's human nature, to get that way once in a while! Be glad we can write it down here and not be told we're having a hissy fit! We've all been there, done that and can understand. At least
we recognize that we are having a rough time. Also that we are learning not to jump in the fridge and clean it out! And if we do falter, it seems it's usually with something legal although we go overboard. I think that's a big improvement. And now you
see your coping mechanisms changinf gor the better. I say give yourself a high five!!!

Why not try the Parmalat milk. It comes in quart boxes, doesn't need to be refrigerated untilopened and is good. My gd was raised on it, they lived in Turkey and you just don't go to the local supermarket for some milk! They even used it here a while couldn't get used to buying milk here.

BOB - I'm glad agrees that fish is expensive here. Everyone says living in the south is cheaper! Forgedaboutit!

KELLY - Glad you got book at library. That's what I did. Terrible thing, money or the lack of it! Good you decided to join us, there are some great people here. I was in chat room that night, when you left I was hoping you would follow through with us.

SOL - Just think about those 12 hour shifts, they sometimes turn in to 14 hour. Hope your cold is better. Sounds like a lot of stress and that can exacerbate any condition. I have one problem with recipes. I'm a fairly good cook but don't make a
lot of things by the book. I just know a handful of this and a pinch of that is the right amount, as a result people get upset when they compliment me and then ask for the recipe. I make some mean soups, but..........

ROSALIE - Glad to know someone has actually tried the Oatmeal Bread and that it's not an untested recipe from a cook that's failed the test!! Good luck with the scanner. It helps to have a 16 gd to bail you out. She's my guru! Had computers
in kindergarten in OZ.

MARGARETA - Glad to see another Louisianian here. Seems to me a size 10 good hardly ne a mother of the bride dress. Even if I reach goal I won't be that size. Heck, my right leg isbn't that size!

MELF - Of course you were missed. I look for my LA bud! Tegretol? That was used on out head trauma patients like Dilantin. Disdn't know it could be used for neuralgia. Used for seizures. Of course, I had to look it up and it is used for Tic Douloureux or TN. Of couse some of our clients had various tics and spasms. I hope the neurologist will be able to help. Depression can be caused by the side effects of teg.

I don't feel you are complaining, just stating the facts. I wish I could at least give you a Hug. Or at least do something to distract you from your discomfort. Prayers are their
way.

Too tired to edit. But did read entire board. Take care all.

It's Sunday night, kids are in bed and husband is out and about. It's been a good weekend, but my eating habits had a lot to be desired. My girlfriend and I picked up some books and I'm counting down now as my surgery is less than a month a way. I need to make a plan maybe, I'm in a weird place right now and I having trouble getting focus. Too many, I can have this every once in awhiles, happening all the time, making excuses.

Rosalie: Happy Belated Birthday! Even though you had to work, it sounds like you had a nice day.

Deb: Thanks for sharing the pictures, (you all look wonderful!) won't be throwing darts though. Maybe I should print it and put it on the fridge! More seriously though, I think the problem I'm having most of all with maintenance is that I'm eating the foods I shouldn't be, suddenly I've given myself permission to eat everyting and here lies the problem. I'm an excuse person. I know I have the pattern and have been able to conquer it twice before 1st with drug addiction (11 years sober) and the with cigarette addiction (4 years sober). I'm not looking for a "good job" I'm trying to explain. I've always needed something to coat the emotions of stress, anger, fear, depression, shame. When I was a teen it was drugs and alcohol, I continued smoking for years, but quit 4 years ago. It's always been something life altering that has made me change my path. The same with being overweight. I new I had to lose the weight to improve my health, the problem is I'm going through "a little bit won't hurt" and I know that it will, it's almost like fighting a battle of good and evil, ok that's extreme. I'm hoping you are understanding me. I need to find better ways to deal with life's little ups and downs. This support board is certainly a major step for me. I'm making it my responsibility to be here as often as possible. Like tonight when I would like something to help me feel better, like a bowl of icecream, I'm writing to you instead. Again, I'm not looking for a that a girl I'm looking for steps to go from being an emotional eater, to someone who allows the emotions to occurs but deals with them in a sensible way.

Kelly: Welcome to the board.

Solshine: I hope you are feeling better.

Frog: Congratulations on the size 8!

BOB: The new do is good, trying to get it to grow out some more. I too wish I had the same drive as my friend. I realize food is what we survive on and I absolutley love to eat, but maybe I need to look at from another angle? See my conversation with Deb above.

Nance: Sorry we missed each other Saturday. I bet you look wonderful. I kept the blond, she convinced me that all the money I spent a few months ago certainly could be nursed along for many months to come. Dan will be back soon, we will help you get through the next 2 weeks. You, BOB and I need to get together. There is success for all 3 of us, we can reach our goal. I put it all out on the table tonight, now this board knows about my skeletons and you did the same. We have to be honest with ourselves and each other each time we reach to get a brownie, glass of lemonade, etc. I know we can do this Nance, you've seen me, I'm wearing a size 10 now for goodness sakes, but yet I'm eating like I use to which is really going to be a problem (I weighed 158 or more tonight, didn't check it the second time like I usually do). I know that there has to be something to me getting almost all the weight off and then having problems and you and BOB's daily battles. Like BOB said, she knows that she can be successful, but goes on and off, same for you and why. We just need to figure out why. I don't want to be a yoyo!

Missgrace: Nice to meet you.

MargaretA: Hello there, stranger! Congratulations once again on your marriage! I'm sure your wedding was beautiful, no matter what the size.

Melf: It's good to hear from you, sorry your not feeling up to par. Hope we hear from you more, miss you around here and where's Starchaser...

Ann: Your vacation sounds like fun, thanks for sharing it! I'm glad you such a good time and your only 10 lbs from goal! That's great.

Rhroo: Good to see you!

Sef: Thank you for the great salad tips.

I know that each and every one of you has battled to lose the weight you have lost and I thought about emailing some of you individually tonight. I certainly reconsidered telling all of you about my addictions several times and still it's very scary for me to put it out there. But what I really hope tonight's post produces is some feedback, because I know that there is someone else out there feeling like Nance, BOB, and I, who hasn't spoken up yet and I also know that there is someone else who has been successful and could give us some input.
