Julie: At least we don't have to pay for the WHOLE furnace. You are right though, I tend to clean up as they move! I am already obsessing about how much dirt they are gonna drag in and mess up the place! :lol: Jack just shakes his head! The food thing will drop into place with you soon, I am sure.
Amanda: You go girl! I am so very proud of you to stick with it and begin to actually enjoy it! That is just great!
I only have two more days to pull anymore work out of my poor hubby, but the fact is, we are almost done. We didn't get to the Goodwill for our last drop off yesterday and will do that today, he is going to finish the patching on the ceiling that has to be done and we are going to get the stuff that he has to take out to the plant to dump into the trunk and rearrange the garage so that I can buy a shelf to put the stuff on so I can get to it easier.
Keep your fingers crossed for us! :lol: Jack is going to buy a couple Powerball tickets with our Chinese fortune cookie numbers. Hope we will win something anyway. Even the money to pay off the condo would be nice or enough to buy a second car or to do all the floors in the house. I am not greedy, don't have to be the millionaire, a thousandaire would be ok! :lol:

Just one point for me for yesterday. Hubby and I are doing a pilates/yoga thing. I honestly was rolling my eyes and thinking that it was going to be a waste of time or something, but Oh My Goodness! It was great! We were both thinking that the lady on tv was trying to kill us!
Can't wait for hubby to get home tonight so we can do it again. LOL
(no cruise? Oh man!!! How about just a bowling trip? hee hee)

Morning gals! I kept my behind in bed until 7 but my old hip started hurting so decided I better get up and get the day started.
Boy, I COULD see me winning and buying tickets for all of us to go visit Amanda! Wouldn't THAT be cool????? The next time I buy them you are going to have to try to wish a little harder!
First day back to work for Jack. After all that work I did on the garage, I now have to go out into the deck and pick up a bazillion of those styrofoam peanuts. I had them in two boxes and it got really windy yesterday and blew them all over the place. It is always something I guess.
Well, my cleaning for today is calling so I better get to it. Hope you all have a great day!
Lee: Good luck with the pilates. My grandson called me last night and told me all about what he got from Santa for Christmas and that his mom got, a yoga mat, a yoga ball, a yoga band, a yoga tape and he was excited to try them out! :lol:

Morning All ... well I am very proud to report that I was able to stay totally OP for the whole weekend, plus I weighed myself this morning and I was down 6 pounds from last Monday, so I am very excited at this point, but still know I have quite a ways to go to get back to where I was before Thanksgiving but I am on the right track.

Faye - I hear ya, I always get my hopes up with the lottery as well, my dh is very lucky with the tickets but not me ...
LeeAnn - I have never tried yoga or pilates but I hear it is quite a work out.
Amanda - I soooooooooooo wanted pizza this weekend but I didn't give in, which is so unlike me lately ... at least your's was a small ... I know you can have more will power this week. :carrot:

Good morning. Yesterday was weigh in day - down 3.5 pounds to 162. I'm on the right track. Need to make better choices, but at least limiting what I choose. My husband is doing better and will be home probably this week with the health care workers coming in daily. They are going to build him up and then do the surgery since it is the only hope he has to have any quality of life.
Amanda, a small pizza is a good step in the right direction. We all need a slice from time to time. I like the South Beach frozen personal pizzas - whole wheat crust and 14 grams of fiber and very tasty.
Well, got to get my work done so I can get over to the hospital. Tomorrow is my husband's birthday.

TUESDAY: Today is Target Tuesday and our target this week is our posture. We rarely think about it, but it can make it difficult to walk, sit, stand, whatever if we have bad posture and most almost all of us do. Take time to do some stand up tall exercises, walk with a book on your head, and try and improve something that is vital to good health this week.

Afternoon Girls - I am just about ready to leave work to brave the grocery store, I know some people like it but I just hate it. I am out of my low carb bagels and need to get some more, dh has been eating them so they have been going quicker.
Had another 3 pointer yesterday, was going to go work out tonight after work but then I ended up grabbing all my workout clothes but leaving my tennis shoes at home, cant very well work out in my work heels. :)
Faye - Thanks for the congrats on the weight loss, it is about time I got the scale to start working its way down instead of up ... how is your program going? Or have you started it yet?

Hi, ladies. Doing good today thus far. Got my husband home from the hospital yesterday. Going to try to build him up and reevaluate him in 30 days for the surgery. Today is his birthday - 63, not very old to have a life-threatening illness.
Got 2 points yesterday - 4 points going so far today. I feel so much better when I eat right.

I'm still on track and am feeling a bit disappointed that I've not lost any weight yet. I've had 2 or 3 off days out of 11, but am working my butt off at the gym so the weight should have started moving now! :(
Instead I am stuck fast at 217 - it is so important for me to lose this next half stone (7lb) because it is what I was struggling to do since October with not much luck. So I feel I am getting a real mental block about getting past this weight - the little voice in my head is saying 'maybe I am destined to stay at 217 for the rest of my life' - which is something I really don't want! I can only keep on doing what I am doing and hope the weight loss kicks in soon! My TOM is due in about 7-9 days which never helps the situation either.
Nigel is going to actually lock the scales away for a month (actually with a padlock!:lol: ) because I am getting so disheartened with the scales every morning. I think it is a good idea, because actually my shape is slimming down all the time - my stomach is the flattest it's ever been so I can just forget about what the scales say for a few weeks and get on with business. Sorry to rant on - but I guess it is Wednesday's Woes isn't it?
CARRI - Congrats on the 6lb loss - you must feel great!
SUSAN - HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your hubby! :gift: :hat: I hope that his health improves soon and maybe the surgery will make a real difference to his quality of life.

Had a 4 point day yesterday and Tuesday so I am getting back in the grove.
Amanda, there are many ways to judge success beside a number on the scale. Actually, the weight doesn't come off at the same time your body is tightening up. You are looking better so that is a great NSV. Unfortunately, exercise gets us into better physical shape but in reality doesn't burn that many calories unless you are training for a marathon.
Let's all get with the program (whatever we chose) by Monday and get the new year into gear@

Man o man...the flu really S**ks!! DH and oldest daughter have it now. I feel half way decent, but just grocery shopping wiped me out today. I think it'll be a full week before everyone feels normal again. I've not been skating in a week and I miss it so much! My lesson was today, but I couldn't leave DD home alone when she's this sick. It's just as well, though, I probably would have fallen and broken something important!
While I was shopping, I noticed that my stomach cringed anytime I went near anything sugary, fatty or meat. Hmmmm. It was probably the flu talking, but I came home with tons of fruit & veggies and very little else...so maybe I'll finally be able to get back on track.
It's my birthday on Sunday, and DH asked what I wanted for dinner....normally that's when I say to **** with the diet, I want CAKE! But I think we're just going to have a few lobsters and what I really want is Breyers Light mint chip ice cream! It's my favorite.
We're in the middle of a January thaw right now...it's almost 50 outside and sunny!! We haven't had one in a few years, so it's nice. You can smell the dirt and it reminds you that spring really will be here eventually. Though this winter hasn't been that bad yet. It's Feb. and March that are the killer months.
Well, I'm tired of typing, so I think I'll go take a nap.

I think I have everything under control for the furnace guys to mess up my house tomorrow! :lol: I moved the book case and curio cabinet out of the entranceway after taking all my Lladro out of the cabinet and everything off the top of the book case. I took all the pictures off the wall going up the staircase and all the pfoo pfoos off the wall in the entranceway. Jack and I unloaded the china cabinet and put all the china on the floor in the extra bedroom then moved the china cabinet that sat at the top of the stairs into the extra bedroom. Hopefully, this is enough for them to get into the attic and get the old furnace out and the new one in with the ductwork and all they have to drag up there. I also got my chores finished and my upstairs bathrooms cleaned and even some of my knitting done so I am in good shape for tomorrow. I know we will be without water for a little while while they connect some drains for something up there and then the electricity will be off for quite awhile I expect so I need to get my books and knitting and stuff ready so I can keep myself busy. All the visitors have gone home so I can get my grocery list ready and my house cleaned out of junk and get back to my program.
Wendy: Welcome and come join us at anytime. I am glad you have been able to bump up your thread. We don't have many here, but we are a faithful few! Just tell everyone about yourself!
Julie: Hope you are getting back to normal now and feeling some better. Hey, I have a ??? to ask you as I am sure you use this stuff. After it is cooked, can you tell by look or flavor the difference between whole wheat and regular pasta? I would like to get Jack on whole wheat pasta but I am going to have to sneak it in and if it tastes different he will surely know.
Susan: I agree, I think we all should be ready to give it our all starting on Monday and that includes me! You are doing a great job yourself considering your stress level. Hope dh had a nice birthday!

I got 3 points yesterday - had a rest day from the gym. I bought the chain today for Nigel to lock the scales away, so tomorrow they go away till the 1st Feb - then it will be monthly weigh ins. I feel sooooooo relieved - like I say, my body is slimming down all the time and all my clothes are getting too big again, so my body fat is obviously decreasing and I feel great about that, it's just when I look at those stupid numbers that I get downhearted!
FAYE - Just reading about all that work has made me tired! Do not under estimate how much mess they will make - you'll love cleaning up after they've gone!
CARRI - I don't mind you asking about me and Nigel - we are not back together, but we are getting on well and I am considering getting back with him, but am still not sure. He is doing alot better after years of bad mental health problems and he is alot easier to be around at the moment. I think only time will tell - I change my mind every 5 minutes!

Faye, It's great that you are getting Jack on whole grain pasta. But you won't be able to trick him. It looks different and tastes different. But you do get used to it, and I honestly prefer the whole wheat flavor--it has more, I don't know, substance to it. You could try mixing it together for a while and gradually increasing the whole wheat to plain ratio.
I wrote an article for Low Carb Energy on whole grains, I can send you a pdf file of the article if you like. One of the doctors I interviewed gave some interesting advice. He said that different brands of whole grain foods taste drastically different. For pasta, he said to start with angel hair pasta and slowly move up to thicker ones, and keep trying different brands.
Also, be aware that unless it says clearly "100% whole grain", then it is a blend of whole and refined grains--it may be no better than the plain white stuff. You can ask someone at a health food store what they recommend for people who are just getting used to whole wheat.
Oh, and there are other kinds of pastas that aren't even wheat at all that are healthier and look like traditional pasta. Spelt pasta comes to mind, but they also make it with potato flour and rice flour, etc. Get some advice from a natural foods person, they usually love to help out.
Of course, I love to eat spaghetti squash with my usual pasta sauces, too.
Probably more than you wanted to know....but you did ask! :wink:

We had a horrific storm blow through here so I brought the animals down so Jack could sleep. Well, looks like they snuck right back up there! It has come and gone with just rain now so maybe they will settle down. As for me, guess I will just be drowsy today. Can't sleep in with the furnace guys coming anywhere from 8-noon. So lovely that we can have an exact time! :^:

Afternoon Girls - I have still been having 3 pointers all week, hopefully I will not have to work such overtime next week and can get back to the gym. I was going to have a three day weekend with MLK day on Monday but now they asked us to work on Saturday...:(
Amanda - I think the whole locking the scale away is a good idea, I am trying hard to only weigh myself once a week, getting on there everyday was just depressing me.

Good morning gals! It is very chilly this morning, but WE HAVE HEAT!!!!!!!! Jack called around 7:30 and said he was taking a vacation day and came home so he was here while they were here. Took them 6 hours to dismantle the old and put in the new. They were all a really nice group of guys about my son and dd's age. I got so tickled, one of the guys came downstairs and ask if he could use our restroom (we have 2 bathrooms upstairs but I guess he wanted to ask first.) He said he had been holding if for a long time. I told him of course and he should have just used one of the ones upstairs. They had cut the power so the bathroom was completely black as it has no window. Jack ask him if he needed a flashlight and he said he just had to do "#1" and would be fine. I yelled to him teasingly that I charged more if he didn't hit the bowl. Sweet boy came out and said, "Ma'am, I would always clean it up. My grandma used to always get on us about that." I went in later to go and found he had taken tp and cleaned the porcelain! :lol: :lol: :lol: What a mess the installation made though. We had a terrible storm yesterday morning and it rained all day. Yep, you guessed it, mud and leaves carried throughout my house and I just shampooed my living room carpet a few days ago, UGH! There was grime on my back door where they went in and out to the main breakers and the ac too. I have the bulk of it cleaned up, but I am going to get my hair cut, get yarn and go to the commissary this morning so it will have to wait until I get back. You will be proud of me, we went to Walmart last night and bought Jack's "lean cuisine" type dinners for his lunches for the next two weeks and I have mine too now all I have to do is shop for the good stuff and clean out the fridge and cabinets. On top of all that, I still have to put back the curio cabinet, hang all the pictures back, move the china cabinet and put all the china back in it and then try and get the carpet and stairs shampooed again and remop all the downstairs floors. That is besides the two cleaning chores for the week I have left, which are vacuuming all the rugs and dusting the upstairs. That's ok, it is worth it to have a furnace that can be set at 65 and is comfortable, versus doesn't work at all and before that had to be set at 80 just to keep us comfortable a bit.
Wendy: If you look at my very first post on each new thread (it is usually in color, but I screwed up setting it up this time and with the new upgrade you can't set colors if you haven't already when you edit) Anyway, the first post gives you all the info on topics, points etc of what we do. I take care of all the topics, lbs down and points so you just get to enjoy bragging! :lol:
Carri: Don't work yourself too hard! I am glad you are back on the road to weight loss.
Julie: Be BRAVE and take a chance. What is the worst that can happen, you fall on your keister? I know you can do it!
Well, I guess I better go. I had an asthma coughing attack this morning and had to get up but I may sneak back to bed with the hubby and the animals and cuddle for awhile. I love to do that on the days he doesn't have to go to work because we lay and talk about all kinds of things.

Hi girls! I know, I'm not around as much these days. That'll change in the near future as soon as I'm done cooking for 300 people, finding a new house to live in and training my kids to Please Sleep until at least 6:00 am!! :)
LOL It seems like a lot of stuff has all coincided for about the exact same week here.
I am doing a big Korean Feast for our fighting group February 4th and I have to make $400 cover all of the people. It's the first time I've ever tried to feed that many people or had to stick to a budget to do it. So I'm really nervous that I won't have enough money or that I won't have enough food for them all.
Also, we have just been approved by our bank to buy a house (YES!!) We've had to wait for a long time for it since DH needed his permanent immigration status and then a job and then we've had to recoup the $$ we lost while living off of our savings until he could work. So now we are in a minor frenzy of find the houses and go look at them, but I can't say we're upset about it. Ha ha!
My mother just bought DH and I some gym memberships at a great place with fabulous daycare!! (Yeah, Julie, I know.. I'll tell you about that later! sheesh...) So we're also getting to the gym a bit.
Also, I'm sure that this probably isn't healthy, but whenever I get too snacky and I know it's not hunger, I have a big cup of coffee (any way I like) and then I get filled up AND caffinated, so I end up doing housework or playing with the kids or something (I love caffiene!) and end up losing weight instead of eating everything.
Btw- I'm down 3 pounds today.
Oops, gotta go. DH is grousing that he wants to get online, too. LOL

Good Sunday morning girls! It is nice and quiet this morning in the house. Jack is sleeping and I think the pets are up there with him.
I went to the commissary and bought all we need to really work our programs so we are all set now. I haven't done all the cleaning out junk food yet, but I am trying to get caught up on my cleaning stuff. Almost done with that. Jack put a new latch on my china cabinet (it stays shut with a magnet, but it wouldn't stay closed and the cat would crawl inside it! :fr: ) and now I can't get the latch open to put the china back!

Good morning everyone. Well, I am up and at 'em, having my first glass of water with my vitamin and am getting ready to do some exercise. I can't believe I just threw everything to the wind, but Jack and I are going to work hard to be fit again. We have one goal to be fit to go to Vegas next year (June 2007) and my 35th class reunion will be next year and I would like to be at goal if possible so that the one b* that was gossiping about me last time will swallow her tongue!
Anyway, let's get at it girls and I will check back later. Have a lot of cleaning to do today too so I need to get it going.

I am up with a tummyache this morning so thought I would go ahead and set up Tuesday in case I overslept in the morning. I got 4 pts yesterday and am pretty sore from the treadmill and weights workout yesterday getting back in the saddle.

Good going ladies! Let's keep it up!
My tummyache was gas. I was taking some meds for some acid reflux and one of the symptoms is gas and bloating. After three days of it, I decided to quit the meds. I am feeling better now and will be fine.
Got in my exercise this morning and on track for 4 again today. I have made a commitment to myself to only weigh on Lbs Down Friday, which is every other week. That way no stress and great surprises!

Afternoon All - Glad to see we may now be all on board for 2006. For those starting back today, good luck !! For those of us who have been doing it for a while, great job for staying OP !!! I forgot to mention that I lost another 2 pounds last week ... but like Faye said I am only going to weigh myself every other week, it will be more exciting that way.
Good job to all of you who are exercising, I am going to the gym tonight after work to get my 4 pointer...if I didnt have to work it would be alot easier to find the time to exericise, but I guess I just have to make time. I may be working over time again this week so we will see.

I'm not feeling very well today, but just thought I'd pop in to say hi.
My eating was not good for the last few days, but then my TOM arrived 4 days early so it was obviously PMS cravings and mood swings.
I did a new class at the gym yesterday - working with a fit ball to work your abs - boy was it tough! I am aching so much today that I've had to miss my cycle class, and it's getting worse! I'm going to have a hot bath later to help! But the class was good and I can only get better at it - and get abs of steel to boot!

Only 2 points for me yesterday, bit too much food...but not bad. I'm getting back into the water habit, which I desperately need!
It's a snow day here. Wintery mix and stuff. Wonder if it will clear off before I have class tonight. I hate cancelling, and I had to do it last week cuz of the flu.
Not much to report here, my legs and hips are pretty sore today--I fell on the ice yesterday. Not sure how, I was just gliding along and WHAM! that's how it is sometimes, the ice just jumps up and grabs you. I'm ordering some special pads today for my poor aching butt and elbows, I may even spring for the hands, too since I got a writing check in the mail yesterday.
Amanda--hope you're feeling better. And thanks for the birthday greetings :D It's good to change up your classes every now and then to keep your body guessing. Great job on the abs class!
Carrie & Lee--Congrats on the pounds down! I'm still afraid to weigh myself, maybe on Friday.
Well, gotta go make breakfast for the Ben-ster. He's up at 7 whether there's school or not.

Happy Birthday Julie! I completely forgot! Guess I'm just so wrapped up in stuff going on here.
Well, people keep asking me if I started on the food yet since it's getting close (Feb 4th-2.5 weeks), but I think "What the heck am I supposed to do? Cook the food NOW?"
My husband has started his signature obsessing about money while we look for a house. He's so good that way. We always seem to have just enough to do whatever we need to.
We've got it pared down to one of three houses so hopefully it should be soon that we can decide.

WEDNESDAY: today is Wednesday's Woes so if you have something to complain about, feel free to do it today!
Julie: I didn't sleep in, but Jack was at the computer until he left for work and it is only 6 AM here. I got my chores done so I can get on the treadmill after I get done with this and balancing my checkbook etc that I do everyday. Hope the ole tushy is feeling better. I would highly recommend something for the hands. They don't have the padding thighs or behinds do and they can sure get scraped up when you fall.
Carri: :carrot: :bravo: :cb: on the weight loss. Keep it up! Hope you don't have to put in too many hours this week.
Amanda: Hope you get to feeling better soon. Nothing like feeling crummy to sabotage a diet. Only comfort foods do when you feel bad.
Yesterday was the first "winter" day we have had this season. It was cold and rainy all day and then there were heavy flurries, but they didn't stick at all. It has dried out completely now, but it is pretty cold this morning.
Jack and I are doing well together. I got him down to about 217 after his heart attack and our bad habits and laziness pushed him up to 239. He is being very diligent about getting on the treadmill every afternoon when he gets home and even when I had him on the program before, he was sluggish about exercise. I hope he stays with it. As for me, food is my problem and always has been. I gain and lose very easily. My biggest problem when I am staying with some kind of program is hormones that can make me ravenous and fighting all that. Instead of it coming once a month like before your period, being in peri menopause means the hormones jump all over all the time so I can never predict. It was that way last night. I did have a piece of fruit and a low cal snack and forced myself not to eat anything else.
