I was at Trader Joe's yesterday and I came across a product called Better 'N Peanut Butter. I think it is also sold at Whole Foods. A serving is 2T and it has per serving 100cal, 2.5g fat, 13g carb and 2g sugar! It has a very creamy consistancy and for the low calories and fat it doesn't taste too bad at all! I think it would be great to add to smothies, and sandwiches...

I might have to try it again. I had some of that months ago and didn't really like it--it didn't seem to have enough peanut taste to me. Did you think it was peanutty? I wonder if they tweaked the formula/recipe.....

I tried it about a year ago and hated it. That is the one thing I actually returned to Trader Joe's under their "we tried it, we liked it, if you don't, you can return it" guarantee.
Better N' Nuthin'!

Darn, wish they had a Trader Joe's up here :( I keep hearing about all the yummy stuff they have - not fair!

Good for you Marilyn! OK, I'll admit it, I really didn't like it, but I wasn't smart enough to return it--I tossed it.

At my Whole Foods store, they have a brand called "Peanut Wonder" - same nutrition, 100 cals for two tablespoons.

At first bite, I was disappointed that it didn't taste like full-fat, "real" peanut butter. But I used it anyway, and lo-and-behold, I love it now. I eat it on 40 cal. bread with sf strawberry jam, with apples, celery, and (gasp) even on a spoon.

Maybe it's an aquired taste? I've found it to be worthwhile!

I find the Skippy's all natural to be really good and creamy! Unlike most which have no added sugars and oils, it does not separate and leave oil all over the top of the jar! Very good!! Great with Smucker's All Fruit topping.

Speaking of Trader Joe's... their fresh salsa is wonderful and far less expensive than that found in most other stores! Oops I guess that is not about peanut butter... but I suppose a peanut butter and salsa sandwich...???

I can't stomach the Petter 'n' Peanut Butter. It tastes like artificial chocolate and is only similar to pb in that it comes in a jar and is spreadable. Ick. I'm a natural Smuckers girl :)

I'm a big Smuckers fan too.... both the peanut butter AND the fruit spreads are the best!!!

I can't find the better 'n peanut butter anywhere. No trader joe's here. Too bad because I'm a PB freak! :(

Peanut Wonder tastes a million times better than Better N Peanut Butter but still nowhere near as good as the real thing. What I really like is called "Naturally More" and it contains peanuts, egg whites and flaxseed. That's it. Lots of Omega 3's and it has less calories per serving than regular stuff too. I found it at Albertson's I think for $3.69. Those fake PBs are really expensive too!

Actually I eat the real thing! Just not a whole lot of it!!!

I have a portion control issue with the real thing so for making my BF's PB&J sandwiches I have the PB that comes in individual containers so I'm not tempted to have spoonfuls each time.

MMMM I actually LOVE the Better n PB! If you don't expect it to tste just like PB, then you might like it. I just think of it as something else entirely, like a peanut "spread". It tastes kinda molassesey (?? LOL) to me and it is delicious w/strawberry jam on a Quaker multigrain cinnamon toast cake LOL
OMG I want one now.

I go to Winco or New Seasons Market and get the fresh made Peanut Butter or Almond Butters....so good and natural.

We have that at Central Market, too, or cashews. Only problem is I really like the creamy and this is chunky.

Speaking of peanut butter...I don't know how many of you are on weight watchers or like their food...but...I just had one of their smart ones peanut butter pies...they are AMAZING!!! It's 4 points for one/190 cals...but I think that it's worth it. I actually tricked my fiance into thinking that it was a "regular" pie and he loved it!!! So then when I told him it was WW...he was shocked!

Yah you can grind it in the store here. Unfortunately I like the creamy stuff and this makes crunchy.

I would much rather eat real natural peanut butter than any fake stuff with chemicals. Sure, real peanut butter is higher in fat - but it's a good fat and I need more good fats in my diet. It's usually a daily struggle to make sure my fat calories are at least 20% of my daily intake. I absolutely love chunky, though. Mmmm chunky.

It is passed lunch time and I guess I haven't eaten yet. So I am going to get some lunch. If I find myself steering toward the peanut butter, I'll know how the idea got in my head.

If I steer clear... what am I talking about.. I know I'm going to have some.. :D

I absolutely love almond and cashew butters. I remember a store brand I tried was creamy, but I don't remember the brand. One of our health food stores has the grind your own. For portion control, I grind like 1/4 of a cup of the almond butter, and refrigerate it. We've started to stop in about once a week, and I don't get it every time, but with four tablespoons, refrigerated, portion control is easy. Cold, it doesn't spread, so I sort of thinkly shave off a thin piece with a knife or a spoon. Usually I just let the piece melt in my mouth, or I might put a couple thin slices on a a couple wheat thins, alone or with a dab of fruit spread. I try to think of it as a piece of candy, rather than as a meal component.
