Paula, I did a thread search and found this posted by Cheryl on 2/19... .
I tried a new recipe that my WW leader told us about. Take a cake mix (I used Lemon), 1 1/2 cup diet soda (I used diet sprite). Mix and bake according to pkg directions. Frost with Fat Free Cool Whip. 3 points per slice.
It was very, very good. If you use chocolate cake mix, use diet coke or pepsi.
...is this what you were looking for?

Hi, all. I just wanted to check in. I know I haven’t posted in a while. I do read all my e-mailed threads, and I keep up that way. It’s easy to pop my e-mail and get caught up. It’s harder to get on the computer to post. I’m sure you know what I mean. I want to say I am so glad to see everyone who gains as well as loses is still posting. That is such a support to me and I am sure everyone else, so thank you! Please keep posting even if you aren’t losing! Thank you thank you thank you!
I have nailed the food most days, but moving my rear to exercise still is my shortcoming. I am doing more than I did before, though. I guess I’m one of those baby step people. You gals are inspiring, so even my little bit is totally because of you all.

My goodness . . . I was about two pages behind. Sometimes things in here move at a furious pace . . . I love it, although it is hard to keep up.
You will be fitting into those pants in no time at all, Tina and pretty soon you'll be telling us about the 14's. Hey you don't need to worry about a little leftover turkey white-meat; so long as you stay away from the gravy and the stuffing. Funny . . . I love chicken, but think turkey only exists as a receptacle for stuffing :D so I definitely try to avoid cooking it very often.
Teahoney . . . new shoes (even sneakers) always give you a boost, don't they . . . enjoy and use them well.
Hleppala . . . wow, I'll never get that right over the long haul, so I'll just have to call you Heidi. Here is a great, big, welcoming :hug: for you. We've got a great bunch in here. Hope you'll love it as much as I do and that we'll be seeing less of you (but reading more) in no time. :)
Yep, Cassie, definitely water . . . and it will be gone again in no time. ;)
Mum . . . Wow, fantastic, wow, wow, wow. I can't think of anything else to say . . . :encore:
Mama . . . Oh, please don't you get sick, too. Make the cake and enjoy both it and your SV :stir:
I sooooo know what you mean about exercising, Eyesing. Not one of my best things either. But I do believe every little bit helps and so I try to do more little bits every day in the hope it will someday become a pleasant endeavour instead of a nasty chore.
Well, gang, I must go make a cup of tea. It's not nearly dinnertime yet and I feel the need of something and I love my tea. :coffee2: I like coffee too, but I really think we Canadians are almost as big with tea drinking as you British. Have a great evening everybody and here is a dose of :dust: to keep us going until tomorrow. See you soon. :carrot:

A great big :welcome: to Tricia, Tracy and Heidi! Look forward to getting to know you gals better as we work towards less of us!!
Lois, Robsia and Mum, WHOOOOO on your weight loss for the week. You gals are going to town on loosing the fatty fat.:dance: :dance: :dance: I sure hope I can report a loss on Wednesday.:D
I am feeling so much better today and think by tomorrow I will start exercising again. I really miss not working out with Richard and the gang.:workout: :ebike: Did I tell you girls that I got my new bras? It's so nice to have the girls back up where they belong.:rofl: Next are new walking shoes since spring is just around the corner.
Paula...the cake is 3 points if you cut the 9X13 pan into 15 servings. I made my cake into a jello poke cake. After I baked it and let it cool, poke holes with a fork. Mix sugar free jello with one cup boiling water. Pour over cake and chill. Frost with cool whip. Yummmy:hun:
Tina...You will be into those size 16 before you know it. Just keep doing what you have been doing.:carrot:
Well ladies, I need to get dinner started for my family. Have a good evening and I check back tomorrow.

Well, I finally got caught up on my reading, absolutely impossible to do personals (for me, now Tina probably could) so I will jump back in like this:
Hi Everybody! Welcome Newbies, Congratulations Losers (Reductionistas?), Of course it is water weight, come on now!! Sorry to hear about the Sicky-Sicks and their little ones. I hope that Doctor with the appointment making problem gets overbooked on his next vacation flight...grrrrr. I think that sounds like a grand performance for football practice, personally and of course you have to tell us! Gee, I hope your little girl gets to where she eats properly, that is really scary! Stay strong in the midst of her calories when she does get into eating! I think that the motivation clothes are a good idea although you all stay so motivated, I cannot think that you need them. But I am all for buying new clothes if you can. I am sure that you will get into your dress in time for your goal, just ease into the exercise and the inches will come off! Glad you found the cake recipe, I gave my copy to mom. I dont know if I would like a jello cake or not Cheryl, it sounds very different. I'm still adjusting to the idea of a soft drink cake. I hope you are really feeling better and no relapses like I kept having when I had it. Yes, I know, I probably infected everyone....humble apologies all around.
My brother is gone for 2 whole weeks HURRAY!! so that means no fast food for 2 weeks. I wont even have to be tempted. Saturday was the grand opening party at my gym. I signed up my son and his wife on my account and my mother signed up herself and my brother on her account. So now I have plenty of people to work out with. While I have not been eating on program, I have been exercising. I did have a bad scare the other day though by now it may be a truth rather than an interesting story.
I went to the gym with mom and brother and when I went into the women's locker room to weight the scale was gone. I always weigh in there because I weigh in sports bra, socks, and bike shorts...yeah, I know, not a pretty picture but anyway it is part of the story. So I go to the front desk to alert them to the scale-napping and was told they would look into it for me. Of coures they are always looking into something for me...I take customer service very literally...ha ha So, I had to weigh on the scale at the trainer's desk. I weighed almost a 2 pound gain. While I have been bad, at that point I did not think I had been THAT bad. Well, eventually it dawned on me that my sneakers weigh over a pound because I weighed them once. So that and the difference between scales makes me stay the same...which is all I can hope for the way I have been eating. Tomorrow is official weigh in day, if I get to go. We have to go to the library for mom to get help with her taxes...there will be someone there helping people, so if I get to go, fingers crossed I dont gain more than 2 pounds, preferably stay 284, but realistically 286, I hope. I cannot claim water weight either because I stopped talking to Aunt Flow when I was 25 (hysterectomy).
So, here I am again, hopeing that if I just keep on keeping up around here I will keep on program. I disappeared because I was kidnapped by Ebay and robbed...the rats even got me to take money out of my savings account....but no more! I have had enough. I have had more than I could afford really on ebay and off program. But I am now the proud owner of 4 giftbags full of assorted exercise tapes and DVDs. Along with some Richard Simmons books and cassettes. And stuff is still coming in the post. I think I am expecting 23 more packages....oops when i fall I fall hard and I have a weekness for auctions. I really need a block on my pc for ebay...ha
Take care everybody, I hope to be back soon, like after weigh in tomorrow.

Morning all. I'm hoping I'll have a loss come Sunday so that I can be added to that list. I'm pretty tired this morning but slowly getting my energy. I'm so excited I finally got my sneakers and I can't wait to break them in today. They're pink and white and oh so snazzy. Hope everyone has a great day.

Mum- yes I am going to make it a weekly thing! I think it will be a good incentive for us! Don't you? I will do it every Monday night. So that when everyone wakes up on Tuesday it will be here! It would be great if you'll could PM me! It took me a long time last night cause I kept stopping to read!
It will also be good so if someone don't want to be in the numbers I will not add them! If I know I have your permission I can put it something like this:
Paula- 19
Mum-23
etc
etc
Another reason it would be good is I will not forget anyone! I am terribly forgetful I think my brain is having to work so hard to keep my heart pumping that i forgets everything else!LOL
Tina- when I was going back last night I saw where you said for us to check out your Avatar on you profile! You have changed too!
Teahoney- Your snickers sound great! Don't worry you will be on the list in no time!!!!
I will check back in later to see your thoughts about our group collective losses!:grouphug:

Good morning girls! Today the sun is shining beautifully, but the outside is a definite cold snap! I woke up with another 1/2 lb. dropped, but a couple hours later, Aunt Flow came to visit. I find it very odd how I was able to lose during this time. When exactly do you retain water before, during or after? If it were before it would explain how I slowed towards the end of last week (b4 my big dinner!), and dropped at the beginning of her visit.
Paula, you'll have to let us know how that cake turns out. You have really done a lot of work, a round of applause to you! What an amazing #! We've lost 52lbs since the last time. I will sure PM you monday to make it easier on you. Great idea, pat yourself of the back girl! About the pic, I plan to take another in about 4.5lbs. Hopefully there will be more of a difference.
sherry, nice to see you again. You are missed around here!
Linda, being originally from the eastern part of Canada, I can totally agree with the tea drinking. But up here in the west, it's coffee, coffee, coffee! Sometimes I can agree it smells good, but I'm not a big hot drink drinker. If it's going to be hot, it's going to be chocolate!
Cheryl, it's great to see up and so full of energy! Have a great time tackling the exercise today!
Mum, you sound like a really proud MUM! I know it can get so emotional watching your baby do big boy/girl things. They grow way too fast! My daughter's four and she's already acting like she's ten! She gets up every morning washes her face, brushes her teeth, get dressed and makes her bed. I didn't even have to ask, she likes being independent. And boy is she ever independent! Sometimes I feel she's getting to big to want mommy anymore. :( I'd say enjoy and brag him up all you want!
Garnet, sounds like you got your whole family in your corner! I sure wouldn't mind that! I really had to laugh because I had the same question as Mum. Did you forget yourself and go out and weigh at the trainers desk in your bra?!! hahaha
Tracey, work those shoes hard today! They sound too pretty, you gotta rough em' up! LOL Enjoy!
Did any of you watch the Bachelor last night?
Well I gott jet and get out of my workout clothes and pick up my daughter at preschool. Have a great day girls!

Hello everybody. :hug: 's for everybody.
It's very cold here in Nova Scotia today. My friend had an early morning test at the hospital and doesn't drive so I took her. I thought we would freeze solid before the car got warmed up and that's with it living in the garage at night.
It's a great idea if we PM to Mama every Monday. At the rate I'm going, You can just keep me at "stayed the same" or "-0" until you finally get a PM from me. I refuse to own up to the 2 extra lbs that belong to the new scale and I'm not going to move my ticker until I've caught up (caught down?) to where it says I am again. Does that sentence make any sense? :dizzy: Hopefully, you know what I mean.
Sorry, gang, but I've got to go again. I've been running late all day and I'm really not sure why. Here's a hefty dose of :dust: to keep us revved-up through the rest of the evening. See you all tomorrow :carrot:

I know that talking about TOM isn't exactly what anybody would agree to be a pleasant conversation. But I went looking for the answer to my question this afternoon and thought that I would share. The last bit of info. I added because I thought it would be a nice plus considering that TOM has no pluses!
I know that a woman's weight fluctuates within the menstral cycle due to water gain or loss.
Which part of the menstral cycle do most women weigh the least, and at which part do they weigh the most?
**Most women weigh the most a few days before the period and during the period. Then, it does not fluctuate.**
Menstrual Cycle Link To Weight Loss
Exercising at particular times in the menstrual cycle could help women to lose more weight.
That's one of the initial discoveries made by University of Adelaide PhD student Leanne Redman, who is studying the little-known impact of the menstrual cycle on women's exercise.
Helps Burn Fat - Improve Metabolic Rate
Early results of her research show that exercising at the later menstrual phase could burn more fat and help women to feel less tired.
"Results suggest that exercise performance is improved during the later part of the menstrual cycle-that is, when circulating concentrations of ovarian hormones (oestrogen and progesterone) are high," she says.
Now isn't that something to look forward every month! NOT!!

Thank you for all of the warm welcomes...
I thought I would post a little bit about myself.
My name is Heidi. I am 34 yrs old. I am married and we have (2) beautiful girls. I NEED to loose 115 lbs. But, I don't know where to start.
I don't have the extra money to go to a gym or buy any workout equipment. So I thought for my 30 minute daily workout I would use the steps for 10 minutes at a time to start and then gradually increase my time.
I know that I should drink a LOT of water, but I HATE water. So what can I do to get water into my daily diet?
Right now I am a sahm, but this time next week I will be (hopefully) back in the work force. What is the best way to make sure that I maintain my diet?
I was reading information on the 3 hr diet. Has anyone tried it and do they like it? Also has anyone read Dr. Phil's weightloss book? I have it, but haven't started reading it?
Thank you all again... Have a wonderful night.
Heidi

Heidi, the best place to start is one small step at a time. And the biggest step you'll take is the step off of the wrong path into the right one, which also happens to be the scariest! I know for myself, when I first started it was a minute by minute victory. (I didn't realized how much I grazed - when I was bored, lonely, happy, etc.) So keeping my hands outta the pantry and fridge for the wrong reasons was tough!
As for exercise equipment, a lot of the ladies here do workout dvds. Such as walk away the pounds. I couldn't give you a review because I haven't used it myself, but I'm sure these ladies will chime in. I have a treadmill that I use 30 minutes in the morning and I use the Biggest Loser workout dvd in the evenings. You don't need a lot of money to exercise, you just need effort. And it sounds like you're full of effort, way to go tackling those steps. Steps are probably the hardest to do!
Water...hmmmm well there isn't a lot ways to make water better. I heard some ladies say they buy flavored water, or crystal light. I've also heard that you can count other beverages as your intake as long as water wins out in the end. I bought a container that holds the exact amount of water you need to drink in a day. I forced sips throughout my days, and now I seem to finish the jug before the day is out. It comes with time. We all know what a struggle it is to get that much water down when you're not used to it. My problem was that I didn't drink much of anything at all, let alone water! LOL
I am a stay at home mom myself, but I would imagine bringing your own lunch and water will help you stay on program better as you re-enter the work world.
I followed Dr. Phils plan for about 2 weeks. Honestly I couldn't handle the menu. I found that there was no advice to make what you had to eat taste good. It was a lot of steamed, bland vegetables. BUT as for his book, I love it! He has a lot of great get real advice! As for my own diet plan, I count calories and fat grams. Keeping around 1200-1500 cals/day and 20 grams of fat a day. I found a lot of great recipes on the net.
Good luck with your journey! And once again welcome, you'll fit right in here. We're all in the same boat, each day is a struggle as we try to better ourselves. You're going to do great!!

Just checking in,
Today I did not feel like doing much... AF is on her way... I wish she would just show up already... I hate this feeling of tiredness. :(
I keep saying I am going to get some vitamins,.. I probably need more iron in my blood. I just can never remember them when I'm out.
I did my workout and I will probably add another. Lately I have been doing the 2 mile WATP early in the day and doing the 1 mile in the evenings.
Paula, thanks for posting our loss... we are doing great! :carrot:
I will PM you my weekly weight on Sundays.
Tina, interesting info about AF... I guess I should add a little more intensity to the workouts toward the end of AF's visits, huh? :lol: That is so strange because right b4 the visit I feel so tired and not really wanting to do any workouts but since I started this journey I have pushed through it and now there is even more of a reason to continue... I'm going to pay close attention this month to see how my body / scale responds. Thanks again for sharing.
Heidi, I am one of those who do WATP. I started with the 1 mile video and on that first day I could barely make it through 10 minutes.... but after about a week I was able to get through the entire workout... now I'm up to 2 - 3 miles a day, 6 days a week. You can do this. Just start slowly and work your way up to a regular routine.
Hope everyone has had a good day!

Heidi- I know someone who everytime she goes out to eat she ask for a glass of water and a bowl of lemons! She just squeezes half a lemon in her water! I myself would just as soon have the water! I wouldn't want the lemon without the sugar to go with it! LOL! I don't have alot of money either (I have 4 kids, they have all the money) Something I have started doing is once a day I will turn the radio up and JUST Dancing :dancer: around the livingroom! (glad noone can see that one) LOL!!! Anyway I think you have made a good start by committing yourself to doing it!
Tina- Since you brought up the lovely subject of that old bat (Aunt Flow) I have a question! She has been coming to my house more and more these days! Before I started losing weight, She came very regularly every 28 days! Now She has come the 1st of February and then again on the 14th of February! What would cause that? :cb: I checked my weight this morning and I am down another lb! THAT MAKES 20lbs!!!!!!:goodscale: That means I get another kiss!!!!:chockiss:
I have not been to the grocrey store yet to get the cake and stuff DH is still sick! :stress: So we have been staying at home.:stress: I am hopefully going this weekend! I am going to try to get in the bed early tonight so I will check in tomorrow! :grouphug:

Finally found out what has been wrong with me this week. I forgot to put my tranquilizer in my medicine box for AM and PM...no wonder I feel like I am going thru withdrawal. I thought it was just the phasing out of one med and starting on the new one...I did not realize I had completely skipped my anxiety med. No wonder I have been so unnerved lately.
I will be glad when the old med is out of my system and the new med is back in. I requested to be put back on Wellbutrin which I was on last year when I lost 30 pounds but then I was taken off of it and I gained it all back because I was having major depression and going thru Rx changes, I had to be hospitalized...any way. I am hoping being back on wellbutrin plus my current enthusiasm will aid in my objective....mission: weight loss! Permanent this time!!
It is so hard to stay enthusiastic though, I tend to lose focus easily. But I am doing it right now, that is what matters, right now. I did great today except for eating an orange. That is not on phase 1 of south beach. Other than that I was as good as it gets, well, not exactly, I did not exercise today.
hey, my cat Dusty is sick again. He just finished antibiotics and all for a urinary tract infection and now he is sick again or still, I dont know. But please send him some healing energy! Thanks!

And Heidi, I'm sure there are places that you can find exercise tapes for cheap. The older ones tend to go on sale more and you can get great workouts. I don't go to the gym or have any equipment just a few exercise DVDs that kick my butt.

Good morning!
I'm down another 1.5lbs! Holy cow I can't believe it! Especially during "her" visit. Maybe the info I found has some truth in it? *crossing fingers*
It's another cold, snowy, dreary day here. When will spring come?!! Then summer....hmmmm can you even imagine how great it will be this year? With the few extra pounds we have off we probably won't get so hot and sticky. We'll be feeling more light and airy. I know I'm looking forward to getting some more cuter summer clothes, even sun dresses. I wouldn't be caught dead in one before! You all were probably the same as me, it could be as hot as an oven outside and I was covered enough that I would gross anyone out. Capris came as close to shorts as I would get. Ahhhhh...I can almost feel the heat of sun shining down....MMmmmm I feel warm now. hahaha Am I desperate or what?!
Lois, isn't it funny how a lot of us have the same cycle? I've heard that when you're around other women for a time that you start adapting the same cycle as the other. But I never thought that it would have been a virtual thing! LOL You doing great with the videos. Have you tried the BL one again lately?
Paula, congrats on the loss! You're doing so well! You go girl. About the subject of the "ol' bat" showing up more often, there could be all sorts of reasons that I came accross. Weight loss could definitely be one of them, but it depends on how much you've lost, how fast you've lost it, and how drastic of a change you've put your body through. Because a significant amount of weight change can cause your hormones to go a little wacky. And then of course there were a bunch of medical reasons. Infections, endometriosis (sp?), can't remember the other. But if it is something that is totally not the norm for you and you're worried, I would put in a call to your gynecologist (sp?). PPsst...I hate those visits! I haven't had one since I was pregnant (early trimester), I didn't have the six week check up after cuz thankfully AF showed up, and I've never made an appt. since. I'm bad!
Garnet, I hope your new meds work in fast for you. Sounds like you have a lot more faith in them. I can feel your enthusiasm, you go girl! You're doing good, keep it up! One day at time, one moment at a time! Here's a bunch of good thoughts for your cat too!
Well, I'm off to the treadmill girlie girls! Here's to sweatin'!
Have a great day!

Hi everyone!
Well that 2 lbs the scales jumped last Friday have almost gone, but they've been slow to go!!! It was 190.7 this morning. Ah well - so long as I keep doing the right things it'll go, but it's frustrating sometimes.
Is anyone giving anything up for Lent? Rather than give up MORE stuff, I decided to up my exercise instead. So I plan to do my DVD 30 times between now and Easter Sunday, which is 4-5 times a week, instead of the 2-3 I'm currently doing. Done one so far - 29 to go!!!
I solved the bouncing boobie problem! The leotard I was using was rather low cut so I bought another one that comes up much higher and is more supportive. They still bounce but they don't actually come OUT of the leotard any more. So I have no excuse now for not doing ALL the moves. I can actually do most of it now - just missing off some of the reps on the hard bits. Maybe by Easter I really WILL be able to do the entire thing.
Had a NSV today!! I had a skirt which was an 18 but it was a rather small 18 and at the beginning of January I couldn't even get into it. Well today I wore it for work and it was almost falling off my hips - yay!!!! I wore it a few weeks ago and it fitted in the waist but was tight across the belly so I'd put it aside for a bit. It's almost a shame - it's a really nice skirt.
Has anyone got anything in their wardrobe they will actually miss when they slim down? Most of mine I'll be glad to bin but I do have a lovely pair of raspberry trousers that are VERY flattering and look lovely on. I may alter those.

Hey everyone!!
Welcome to the newbies and congrats on all the successes!! You guys are all doing great!
I am hanging in there...had too much food over the weekend and it showed on the scale on Monday morning...but yesterday morning showed me 1 lb down for the week so that's what I'm going with- lol! I was down again this morning so I think I'm back on track.
I'm doing an exercise bootcamp this week with my sisters so I'm doing my t-tapp 5 days in a row, today was day 2. I think tomorrow will be HARD. But it will be worth it and then next week I'll be back to every other day- it's a great jumpstart to loosing inches though. I'm also trying to get on the treadmill too...on Monday I did my 2 miles in 27:30!! Running is getting easier :)
So I guess I'm officially down 14 lbs...*still* can't really tell a difference in my jeans and that's a bit frustrating, but I'm not going to give up! I know it will come with consistency.
TTYL! :wave:

March seems to have arrived like the proverbial "lamb" here in Nova Scotia and that could mean that it will be a nasty month . . . just have to wait and see but at least today has been mostly sunny but pretty cold.
Just to add my two cents worth to the topic of the hour . . . one of the few really good things about getting to my age is that TOM is gone forever and he is definitely not missed.
You've already made the first and most important step, Heidi. Just try not to think of "being on a diet" because if any of us are to succeed at this job we have to realize that the changes we make will have to last forever. Sadly, there is no miracle or magic. Whatever plan you may choose to follow, the truth of it is very simple . . . calories in must be less than calories out. In other words . . . eat a little less and move a little more.
Hi, PurplePansy. :hug: Welcome to the group. We look forward to sharing your journey with you.
My new scale has lost almost all of its two pounds, so I'm almost back where I started from when the old scale went bonkers last week. Hopefully, there's no place to go but down, now.:D
Have a great evening, gang. See you all soon. Here's our dose of :dust: to help us through the night. Keep on moving downwards. :carrot:

Hi,
Just a quick check in since I'm still under the weather. Can't seem to shake this bug off. Today was my WW weigh in day, and I'm down 1.7 pounds! Not bad for being sick and no exercise. I'm counting it as 2 pounds.:carrot: :carrot:
Welcome purplepansy.:hug: Look forward to getting to know you.
Well ladies, I'll try to check back later and do some personal post.

Paula... Congrats on the loss.... :dance: you are really doing great! If feels so good to see those numbers go down... :goodscale: keep going girl!
garnetfairy, so glad you found out what was going on with your meds. Awww, hope you cat feels better soon. :hug:
Tina, whoo hooo... you are coming down girl! If you keep getting light that airy air might just blow you away! ha ha! :lol: No... I have not done the BL workout again, but I might give it a try later tonight... if I do I'll let you know how long I last :workout: Ha Ha... yeah, AF could be a virtual thing! NOT! ! ! :lol:
Robsia, I know you are glad to get those numbers back down. Congrats on the NSV... wow, that just goes to show all that hard work is paying off. :carrot:
Emily, :wave: great job on the loss. You know those inches loss can be really motivating especially when the numbers on the scale start doing that fluctuation thing. Keep up the good work!
purplepansy, :welcome3: to the group. We are glad to have you join us, just jump right in. :hug:
Linda, It's cold here too, and I can not wait until the temps warm up! :sunny:
Cheryl, congrats on the 2lbs. :carrot: each lb lost gets us closer to goal. Hope you're feeling better!
I had a good day... had to run some errands... gosh I will be so glad when the weather breaks! Last week I had gone out and bought a couple of new bras... well guess what? ...they were I little too big... it seems I no longer need a "DD" cup... so today I went out and bought new underwear! :carrot:
It's the first of the month, so I did my measurements again. I also did some adjustments to last months in that now I am only measuring one side (arms, thighs, calves) instead of both.
So for Feburary:
inches loss = -5.5 total = -14.75
weight loss = -9.75 lb.
:carrot:
Hope everyone has had a good day!

Hi ladies, just checking in.
Robsia, glad your coming back down. I know when you see a new low, you definitely don't want to go back at stare at the numbers you've just came from. Ok, when you say leotard, do you mean full body? I'm imagining a male figure skater outfit, I would fall down laughing and die at myself in that!! haha Congrats on your NSV, I don't think I would miss anything in my wardrobe now, I've been missing what I've grew out of too much! LOL
Emily, good luck with your boot camp idea. You'll have to tell us how it works for you. What a great idea. Congrats with getting back on board this week.
Purplepansy, welcome to our group! Thanks for saying you've been inspired by us, makes us feel like we're doing good..hehehe
Linda, march came like a lamb for you, but definitely a lion here! Good job fixing that scale!
Cheryl, just shake yourself a little harder! LOL Hope you and yours are feeling better in a jiff! Congrats on the 2lbs. No matter how comes off, the main thing is it's off! :)
Mum, thanks for the congrats. Hope you had a great day!
Lois, good luck with Bob! LOL I've gotta do the sculpting part tonight. But those jumping jacks and lunges are still hard to get through. Oh well, hopefully in time I'll be teaching Bob!! hahaha Your monthly measurements are awesome! Good job girl, keep doing what your doing!
I've been a good girl today, but still gotta get my evening exercise in.
Later all!

I was wondering if you'd like me to share something I wrote today? Sometimes writing is an outlet of encouragement for me. I haven't done it in a long time, since before my daughter was born. Anyways, hope you enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Standing in the mirror, gazing at a stranger
A resemblence of who you are, feeling a little anger
Wanting people to just see you, inside it burns within
Not just physically "big", being inside feeling thin
Looking out of desperation, we wonder where to start
Undoing our whole lives, seems impossible to embark
One minute out of breath, one step into walking
Seems like a minor defeat, added together they are working
keeping our strength to push on, is a struggle day by day
Each pound we see lost, is a triumph on its way
Putting together our daily defeats, we see what we have done
One day we wake up, starting to feel like we have won
Things we thought not doable, are things that come with ease
Outfits that weren't thinkable, now surely going to please
The journey we thought too far, isn't really long at all
Yesterday we stood depleted, today we stand fit and tall
Girl! ...I still say Bob is a nut! :drill: I can't get all the way down with those lunges either, and the jumping jacks, well :dizzy: I'll just keep my feet on the floor, thank you! ha ha! I did manage to complete the workout though :carrot: and it was easier this time,
I will talk to everyone else tomorrow! Dalton( my oldest)can't seem to shake the bug he has either and he has worn me out today! I haven't even stopped to eat today! My calorie count for today was 300!! He is never sick so when he is HE IS THE BIGGEST BABY!!! I guess I shouldn't talk about him like that but dang he has worn me out today!! Last night he woke me up and I told him he could sleep on the couch. I got back to my bed and was almost asleep and he started screaming MAMA! MAMA! so I jump up and run in there (cause I thought something was really wrong) and he says "I can't breathe out of my nose." I could have strangled him! LOL! Not really He just scared me to death!!! Ok night-night!!:grouphug:
Good morning girls!
I am down another pound today! Making a total loss of 28lbs.!! It's so funny that on any other person (mostly "smaller") Twenty-eight pounds would seem drastic, but on us who are little more "abundant" it really isn't a big deal to notice physically. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining! I love it! Just seems like we lost this weight and we're still "big". Oh well, we'll get there someday hopefully sooner than we think.
I had a light bulb go off in the shower today. We've often heard, "be patient, you didn't get fat overnight and you won't get skinny overnight either.." Come to think of it, we are losing weight faster than we've gained it. I mean I'm sure we didn't gain 2-3lbs. a week to get this size. For a lot of us that would have only taken 1/2yr. to a year. We've ballooned to this size over years of food abuse. So in actuallity, we are losing our weight faster than we've put it on, considering we're losing 2-3lbs. a week. It's remarkable what a committment of a few months will do to your body, when for years we've lived in discomfortant wishing we could be smaller. It just takes one day after day of committment. Put a few days together and we've got success! Like somedays we step on the scale and only see losses of 1/2lb. but when you add them together, one day they make 28 pounds!!
Okay sorry to babble...it was just a thought. :) I guess the saying is really starting to hit me, "one day at a time"! hahaha
Lois, thanks for the compliment. And yes Bob is a nut! But I think of it this way, it's getting me smaller, some how through this pain I'm getting smaller! If it worked for the contenstants it can work for me. I was thinking lastnight while doing it, as I gave up on a few of the lunges...can you imagine being there and when the trainers see you slacking off they come and make you do it better or more. Phewww...glad I'm not there! hahaha
Paula, I would be happy if you printed it off for inspiration. Makes me feel good infact..hehehe. I hope your boy starts getting better soon. Have you tried those plug-in "vics" smelling things. May help him breathe better in the night. Either that or a humidifier with vics should do a world of good.
Robsia, thanks for the compliment aswell. Okay, your suit looks good, but I still think I would fall down laughing at myself in that! According to your picture, you have all the right in the world to wear it!! You look tall and skinny! (I know that isn't you in this picture, but I'm talking of the one your dad took)
Well, have a great day girls! I'll more than likely check back later day.
See ya later gators!
Hi everybody. . . aanother really cold day, here . . . and kind of half sunny, half cloudy.
Well, I'm fairly proud of myself. Went to Swiss Chalet for lunch and did pretty well. I had 1/2 a chicken (without skin) and a side salad. No fries or coleslaw. I did eat my roll, with real butter. That was my "treat". Don't know what I'll have for supper since I've used up all my protein allotment already. One thing about having all that chicken . . . I was so full that it made resisting dessert fairly easy. One friend (?) tried to talk me into it, but I resisted.
Way to go, Cheryl. Hope you will soon be feeling better. Mama, sorry to hear you've still got the sickies at your house too. Sounds like Dalton is already practicing to be a typical husband someday. :D That's a great poem, Tina. Hope you'll keep writing them and sharing them. Keep on doing all the other good stuff, too. The pounds are just falling of you, girl. You keep up the good stuff, too, Liza. Love the leotard, Robsia, but I don't think you should have dyed your hair. ;)
Well, guess I'll go make myself some nice brothy vegetable-filled soup. See everybody later. Keep smiling and moving downward. :carrot:
Hi Chickies!!! How is everybody? I want to introduce you'll to my newest baby! He is a 3 month old Maltese! My DH gave him to me! He doesn't have a name yet but we are calling him baby until we can come up with something better! Do you'll have any suggestions?
Depending if you want to call him after his coloring or not, I would call him Marsh or Marshal. Cuz he looks like a marshmellow.
I like the name Howie, Benji or Bailey for a dog, if you didn't want to call him after his coloring.
Good luck with the naming! Let us know your final decision.
That was a very nice piece Tina, thank you for sharing! Cheryl, you need to get well, woman (Im so sure you did not know this) I miss you!
Sexy leotard and you wear it over bike shorts? When I go to the gym, I wear bike shorts, sports bra, and a tank top. Let em look if they dare! I am known to wear shorts and tanktop just about anywhere I go. I hate to be hot and sweaty! NSV my bike shorts are not as stretch tight as they were when I bought them...hurrah!
Fluke, was weighing 286, weighed today at the gym and it was 279. My bmi has gone from 54 to 49.5 with that electrical current thingy measuring it.
I am not changing my ticker till Tuesday when i officially weigh in but I must say I will be very happy if it is still in the 270s!!!!! But I think it was a fluke.
My cat is doing better today, thanks for all the well wishes!
Hello Everyone,
I have slept most of the day away, but think I am finally over this bug. I am going to get up early and get some much needed exercising in tomorrow. :carrot:
Tina...Love the poem. I'm going to copy and share it with my friend, plus post it on my refrigerator.
:welcome: Countess. Look forward to getting to know you better. Yes, I know exactly how you feel. I'm hoping to have 50 pounds gone by the time I visit my family in July. Just take it one day and one pound at a time
Garnet...Tonight I feel like the zip is back in my step.:carrot: :carrot: Will see tomorrow morning when I exercise how much zip I have. LOL Love the picture of you in your gym wear. You go girl!! Your braver than I am. I am very selfconsious.
Paula....Hope your little guy is feeling better and you can get some much needed rest, but I know with four children that doesn't happen often. Love your new puppy.:hug: What a cutie. My dog's name is Ozzy. In the past we have had Sally Ann, Brandy Wine, Peaches, Sweetie Pie, Topaz and Sam.
We got about 4 inches of snow yesterday and we have more coming in for the weekend.:( I want the magic fairy to come :wizard: and bring us nothing but blue skies and warm, warm days with sun shine.:beach: :sunny:
Hello ladies! It seems like I haven't been on here in SO long! I have been keeping busy with my kids and I have started pumping, which isn't going well....I can't figure out why not much milk is coming out!:?:
Anyways, I feel like I have missed so much! I need to go back and read, but Tina, you're quite a writer, and MAMA, that puppy is adorable!
I don't know if you all remember, but I was a little down because my scale was up, well, I think it was PMS, cause AF is here...does your weight stay up the entire time while AF in visiting? Because I have been REALLY good on my diet, and this scale won't budge!:?: Ugh!
Oh, I also wanted to tell you all that I have a MySpace page if any of you want to add me! www.myspace.com/cassieallday is my page.:hug:
We got a 'new' car the other day! It's new to us! I love it, it's a 1999 Explorer...we used our Tax refund to pay for most of it!:carrot: Well, I am off to bed, but I'll go back and read so I can do 'personals' tomorrow! Have a great night, ladies!:hug:
garnet, congrats on the loss :cheer: that is great! ...and WTG on the NSV ...that's a sure way to tell that hard work is paying off. Keep it up girl! :carrot:
Cheryl, so glad you are feeling better :carrot: don't over do it when getting back into your workouts, you'll be back up to speed in no time.
Cassie, :wave: you are going to have to read that study Tina posted relating to AF and weight gain. Don't let the scale get you down. I think we all have these momemts where the scale gets a little stubborn... it could just be your body adjusting. Hang in there girl... and I hope things improve with the pumping :hug:
I decided to give the WATP 3 mile a try tonight as my evening workout... I actually made it through the entire thing (45 min.) whoo hooo! :carrot: That's 5 miles for the day! :running: Now let's hope I can get out of the bed in the morning! ha ha! :lol:
Cheryl - I am so glad that you are feeling better! I have missed you! by the way, be SURE that I put on a tank top over the sports bra before I leave the house. I just wanted some really gross looking before pictures for when I'm on Oprah..ha ha ha But just because I am all fat and juicy doesnt mean I cant have some attitude about it. My friend who took the picture was laughing at me the whole time for this pose.
Countess - Welcome aboard and good luck to you in your quest!
Cassie - Have you contacted the local la leche league, they can probably give you valuable information on expressing breast milk for free.
Lois - That is super that you made the 3 mile all at once and an overall 5 miles for the day!! Awesome!!
Paula - very cute dog, looks tiny. Maybe you would want to give him a macho name like killer...ha ha
Go 'head with your bad self, Countess. That is great.
My period is on it's way. I know it is, it's just taking its time getting here. But it sure is showing on the scale. I haven't exercised the past two days so I am promising myself to exercise today and tomorrow. I didn't buy them new kicks for nothing. But I probably won't have a loss for this week but that's okay. So long as I'm doing what I know I should the scale can say whatever it wants. Have a healthy day ladies!
meowee - good for you resisting the chicken skin! When I go to my mum's house she alwys makes me a roast chicken dinner. it's all regulated and claories counted, I have a small chicken breast, two small roast potatoes and a dribble of gravy but I cannot resist the skin - it's just my favourite ever bit. Still, it's only once a fortnight!
mama4 - aw - your baby is so cute. The only things that jump to mind are Fluffy or Snowy or something like that. I always take a long time choosing names, even for pets.
garnetfairy - yikes, you're brave - wearing a tank top. I think I'd have to get down to about a size 10 before I dared show my midriff! :) Wow, 286 to 279 would be a **** of a loss! I take it it was different scales? Well, you never know - you might get a nice surprise come Tuesday!
Countess - welcome! The more the merrier.
Cheryl - LOL about you wanting the magic fairy to come. We have had blue skies and sun, but it's been bitterly cold and I wouldn't mind the magic fairy to bring us some snow!! We did actually get some today (the first proper snow all winter) but it didn't stick :(
Cassie - AF has just finished for me and it jumped 2 lbs at the beginning and I really struggled to get it down - I finally got back to the pre-jump weight yesterday and it dropped another half pound today! I was taking water retention tablets which helped a bit.
Lois - wow congrats on doing your workout!!
Well, as I said to Cassie - I finally got back to the pre-Af weight and dropped another half pound this morning, so I'm at 190!!! Yay me! It is so frustrating when you've been so good and those scales just won't budge! Still, even with that I'm a pound ahead on my Patrick's Day target -I should have lost 8 by now and I've lost 9 so I'm happy overall.
So far I've done 2/30 workouts for my Lent target. I'd do a ticker but I'd get shouted at for having three so I'll just have to do a countdown in the post instead.
Good morning buddies!
Well, I am not particularly impressed this morning. For some reason the scale jump up!! Two pounds! I'm trying not to get too bummed about it, cuz knowing everything about water weight and all. I must admit when I was losing at a good rate this week, I did notice I was peeing a lot more, and yesterday I noticed I wasn't. I did drink the same though. I'm going to try to drink a little more today to try and flush it all out. ***boo hooing*** I was so close to making it to -30, hoping by next week.
Mum, you're welcome. Hope you're having an awesome day!
Lois, seems like my good week came to a grinding halt! LOL Good luck with AF and your testing the theory! You go girl! Five miles is an amazing, amazing, awesome defeat!!
Linda, swiss chalet is my family's favorite restaurant. We can't get it where we live now, but every time we go to Edmonton we enjoy! I buy rotisserie chicken at the local grocery store and I buy the packets of the sauce to mix up myself. We often do this to settle our swiss chalet craving. Thanks for the compliment aswell.
Garnet, thanks also for the compliment. And way to go with the loss!! That's great! Keep it coming!
Countess, welcome to our group! We can do this together!
Cheryl, thanks for the compliment too. Hope your friend enjoys it too. Glad to see that you are coming back from the barracks of sickness!
Cassie, thank for the compliment. Here's the info I found about dear Aunt Flo:
I know that a woman's weight fluctuates within the menstral cycle due to water gain or loss.
Which part of the menstral cycle do most women weigh the least, and at which part do they weigh the most?
**Most women weigh the most a few days before the period and during the period. Then, it does not fluctuate.**
Menstrual Cycle Link To Weight Loss
Exercising at particular times in the menstrual cycle could help women to lose more weight.
That's one of the initial discoveries made by University of Adelaide PhD student Leanne Redman, who is studying the little-known impact of the menstrual cycle on women's exercise.
Helps Burn Fat - Improve Metabolic Rate
Early results of her research show that exercising at the later menstrual phase could burn more fat and help women to feel less tired.
"Results suggest that exercise performance is improved during the later part of the menstrual cycle-that is, when circulating concentrations of ovarian hormones (oestrogen and progesterone) are high," she says.
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ______________
teahoney, Hope you get the exercising in! Good luck!
Robsia, seems I am in the same boat as yourself. I tried water tablets b4, but I found that as soon as I stopped them that I gained a little and maintained that for a week. I'm scared to try it again cuz I don't think I could handle that emotionally! LOL I'm glad to see things starting to move again for you, you go girl!
Well, I guess the best way to beat the scale is to exercise, so I better get at it. I'm a little late this morning, dragging my feet shall I say. But I won't let this get the better of me! Have a great day girls!
Tina- How can you call that old bat ( AF) a dear? You know it is her fault about that little weight gain this week! It will be gone as soon as she leaves!!! HAHAHA
Coutess- sorry I missed you yesterday! But I just wanted to say :welcome:
What do you'll think about the name Happy for my Puppy? My DH wants to name it Walker after Walker Texas Ranger! (I don't think so)!!!!
Good Evening, everybody. . .
My day started out really badly this morning. I could not get full and I could not seem to stop picking at more little bits of food. Finally decided to have a nap (just a form of escapism) because nothing else was working. Well I woke up feeling like it was a whole new day. Just had a wonderful early dinner of protein and oodles of good, low-carb, veggies. Finally feel like I have the day under control. Unless something goes terribly wrong later, I will make it through the day without going over my average calories and stuff, and yes, I even have room for a substantial, but healthy late snack.
Paula . . . the puppy is gorgeous. I think I agree with Garnet that he needs a "big" name. How about Bear since he looks like a fluffy little polar bear cub right now. BTW, congratulations on your weight loss. From the looks of the picture, the pup's hair will weigh more than three pounds when he's grown. ;)
Here's your great big, welcoming :hug: Countess. Glad you've joined us, and congratulations on your loss so far. Keep up the great work, girl.
Cheryl . . . You are sounding soooo much better. Welcome back.
Cassie . . . Congrats to you on the good stuff and on the new car. Have fun.
Oh, Lois . . . Can you send some of that work-out-willpower my way. I keep telling myself that someday, I will look forward to exercise. :^:
Teahoney . . . that great attitude will take you far, girl.
You are doing so great, Robsia, keep up the good work. You know what my secret is about staying away from chicken skin? I don't like it. Now those roast potatoes and gravy, I love so I just have to try to stay away from them. :D
Tina . . . what a bummer . . . sounds like you might have been stung by some hidden salt :devil: . Hey, it will pass. My favourite at Swiss Chalet is the ribs, but I do try to keep my hands (and mouth) off those. I think the chicken is a much healthier choice.
Liza . . . Just put it behind you, girl. If we were perfect, we probably wouldn't be here having these wonderful chats. Falling down is never a problem so long as you remember to get back up and try again. We are all here to help each other in this long journey to better health and fitness.
Keep on moving along, gang. Here's tonight's dose of :dust: See you all tomorrow. :carrot:
Robsia...190!!! I'm so happy for you! You are doing AWESOME with your exercise.
Paula...Glad you got your Rebounder and already gave it a workout, or is it the other way around, it gave you a workout. LOL :woops:
Liza...NO,NO, NO!! Don't ever beat yourself up, feel ashame or call yourself names. We all have triggers that set us up to be emotional eaters. Pick yourself up, brush yourself off and get back on program. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Your not going to let some MAN throw a monkey wrench into ALL THE HARD WORK you have already done, are you? Of COURSE NOT!! lOOK AT WHAT YOU HAVE ALREADY ACCOMPLISHED. 23 pounds of fatty fat gone forever. You need to find some music you really love and do the fatty fat gone forever dance.:dance: :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance:
I have had a really good day. Finally feel like my old self.:D Went and got my hair cut short and styled this morning. Don't look like a wild woman.LOL
I did have a slip today, I was craving ice cream and ate 4 Skinny Cow bars for a total of 8 points. But, I was honest and wrote it down in my journal and figured in the points. Only leaves me 7 points for dinner, so I will probably have soup or a nice shrimp salad.
Well gals, I finally got back to working out with Richard and the gang. I did about 20 minutes, sweating bullets and had to stop when I had a coughing attack. But at least I did get 20 minutes in and will do better tomorrow. :carrot: :carrot:
What do you think about the idea of starting a new 1Year/100Lbs thread at the beginning of each month?
I've seen this done in a few places and it seems to work. It keeps things a little more compact but at the same time, since it mentions the month, you can go back to the previous thread if you want to look for something.
Let's hear what you think, gang.
I think it's a good idea - I post on the Calorie Counters KISS thread and we've been starting a new one each month.
That would be fine with me! It would Probably be easier to find stuff(like that recipe) but would we have to Subscribed every month? That would kind of be bad. Because it is kind of hard to find you'll if you don't have it coming to your email, or go to your control panel! I am not exatly Computer Literate if you know what I mean! :yikes:
Sometimes sleep makes everything feel better especially on a crappy day!:yawn:
Mum- Please let us know if you are feeling better?I am sendiing you some goodvibes :goodvibes :hug:
Where is Stacye? Haven't heard from her in a long time!!!:mag:
We are going shopping!!! I LOVE TO SHOP!!! It is my second weakness(food being the first)! TTYL :grouphug:
Countess - Congrats on the loss!! That is awesome!! Everyday, I try to get back on the beach phase 1 and everyday there is something that gets me off track. I was doing fine today until my mom gave me a piece of angelfood cake. She said even diabetics can eat it. So I did. It was awefully sweet to me. I dont want anymore of it - but I could eat the whole thing, if you can understand what Im saying. Glad you are doing so great, keep it up!
Tracey - Boy am I ever glad I had my hysterectomy. I had it at 25 and I am 43 now so I have not had to deal with bleading for all this time and it is super!!! I do find that it is a little hard to relate to everyone's flow problems though since I quit so long ago. Seems like everyday another person is talking about their TOM or AF or AM or whatever they call it. I sure feel for all of y'all.
Robsia - Believe me the tank top does not show my midriff. That is just an in the house picture with a sports bra for a nasty before photo. At the gym I have a sleeveless tank top that covers my tummy but not my arms.
Congrats on being ahead on your St Pat's goal. Are we only allowed a certain number of tickers??
Tina - I understand your frustration with the scales. I weighed yesterday 279, today 282 same scales same weight clothing. Bizzare. I do not know how you all can stand weighing everyday, it would drive me bonkers.
mama - what a tiny puppy you have! it is weird to have lost the equivalent of your dog...I hope your son recovers fully and quickly. I know it is hard to make up for time missed in school!
Liza - I hate me too, have for years. But you cannot let that go into your mouth. Make a voodoo doll instead or beat up your pillow and scream into it. Work the anger off with exercise...I am sorry that you binged and that you consumed all those calories and did not even get to enjoy them. But maybe you can use this experience to keep you from bingeing next time. Pick yourself up, throw out the rubbish you did not eat yet and get back on program. You are stronger than you think and you can do this, I know you can if you will.
meowee - I do the nap trick too, sleep thru the cravings. I pop a sugar free candy in my mouth and lay down until I dont feel like eating the house down anymore. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. But at least i am well rested. ha ha ha
Cheryl - So glad to hear you are up and feeling better and even exercising! That is great. I am sure that Richard missed you. Hey what do you think about his "the stomach formula" video?? I'm thinking about getting a copy.
Monthly is fine with me on the thread.
I am doing good today. Went to the gym with mom and got a half hour in before she was ready to leave. I miss my hour + workouts. But I am glad mom is working out some. Hopefully she will build up her stamina and we can start staying longer.
Everyone have a GReat Weekend!!
Hello ladies. If you all knew just how long I've been lurking, reading all the posts here on your thread, hiding in the shadows, following your struggles, your ups and downs, you'd probably report me as some crazed, lunatic stalker! But, by the way, I'm completely harmless. Insane, possibly, but harmless. Though I'm not new to this site (not new at all) I've lost all motivation and found myself posting less and less. I've even stopped posting a public journal, which I used to enjoy immensely (especially all the comments I'd receive). I've been very sick for nearly two weeks with a bad cold and I'm back to work (tonight is my first night back as a matter of fact) and I'm hoping to find my boot straps laying around some where, and pull myself up by them. I want desperately to get back in the swing of things.
I just wanted to let you all know that I think you have a great group here and if I ever get the nerve up to post again, I'd like it to be here with you all. Have a great evening and please enjoy your week end.
They call me Java Turtle
(I guess right now, I'm Stalking Java Turtle:^: )
Hi, gang . . . it's me again. Thought I'd pop in to see what you thought of the new thread idea.
Sorry, Paula, I don't know the answer to your questions. I don't subscribe to anything. I just remember where my favourite threads are located . . . i.e., 1year/100lbs is in "Support Groups" and I get to support groups via the "forum jump" feature at the bottom of the page (under the Quick Reply section). And I think you are more computer savvy than I am . . . you know how to post pictures and you know how to subscribe . . . I don't.
As a diabetic, Garnet, I'm not too sure I think Angel Food Cake is a great idea (at least not for me). It's very high in both sugar and white flour. Maybe your Mother has a recipe that's made with Splenda instead of sugar? From a weight-loss point of view, it's not too bad because it is fat free.
Hello to you, Stalking. Hope you are planning to join us. It's definitely time to come out of your shell. Welcome aboard.
Quick check in,..
Linda, I had been thinking that too... I will start the new thread and will label it to coincide with the month... the new one will be labeled
" 1 Year / 100 lb. Buddy #3 "
Whenever you click on the "post reply" link near the top of the page, as opposed to composing your reply on the bottom of the page, you are given a new screen that gives the option (near the bottom) to "subscribe" to that thread and also can receive the emal notice. Then each time you log in, just click on "Quick Links" at the top of the page and go to "Subscribed Threads".. that's how I'm able to locate any threads I have replied to... hope this helps :)
I had a good day... and I was able to get out of the bed with no problem... haha! I did the 2 mile today and passed on the evening workout... gotta give my muscles a break. I'll catch up later.
