They are allowed, but it's my understanding that they should be used only occasionally and not regularly. Dr. Agatston said he prefers that we eat whole foods, but realizes that some people are on the run and don't always have time for real food.

THANKS Suzanne. I was thinking just for lunch when I'm at work.

I don't remember reading a number for the limit of carbs in each phrase :?:
Can you tell me this information or an estimate so I have some idea.

PineHAven, WELCOME to The Beach. There is lots of info about this Lifestyle in the FAQ Section and the stickies in the Fat Chicks On The Beach Section. Come over and join us.

If you are in Phase I, you should hold off on eating the bars as they are really for Phase II and occasional use only. This 'diet' encourages avoiding highly processed foods.

As to carb counts, there is no need to count carbs on this plan! Phase I foods limit carbs and Phase II adds them back gradually. Please do not consider this a low carb diet. Phase I has lots of carbs in the form of vegetables, particularly legumes - all "slow" carbs which will stave off the hungries.
