I have read that soup can be a good tool on this awesom website. Still I always think of soup as being full of salt and boring. I know it can fill you up. Does anyone eat it daily? Has anyone lost weight eating this. Any diet plan response is great . I am just trying to get ideas of how I want to start the new year. Thank you Gayle

I have eaten soup (not as a dieting strategy, necessarily) and I love it!
If I have some before a meal it will fill me up (and it's mostly water, you know) because of volume and heat.
If you make soups yourself you can make broth-based, veggie loaded soups with some high fiber grains as an appetizer to a main course.

"Studies have shown" that people who eat soup before a meal end up consuming less calories overall than those who don't have soup first.

Watch for high sodium (canned, often) soups, and also those that are cream based.

And try new things! Cold soups (gazpacho, cucumber soup made with ff yogurt/sour cream) and fruit soups are delicious!

I do eat a lot of soup although not as a weight loss strategy. What I enjoy about it is that because it is hot I'm forced to slow down while eating it. Plus, since I usually make my own, it is an easy way to get in lots of vegetables. My current favorite is black bean soup - A can of black beans cooked with a beef boullion cube (low sodium if you prefer) and smoked Tabasco. Mash them with a fork, stir in water until it reaches the consistency you like and continue heating with some chopped red onion, chopped tomato, and chopped jalepenos. Serve with a tablespoon of light sour cream and more Tabasco. It is really, really, filling and only 320 calories.

I eat a lot of soup, mainly because I work shifts and when I come home want something quick, filling and tasty. I tend to make my own or sometimes buy cartoned soups from the refrigerator section of the supermarket.

Lentil and bacon is our favourite at the moment, but I love thick veggie soups with lots of beans and good things in them. I make a mean low fat minestrone!

I love soup and we make it fresh, so it is healthier and it is SOOOO easy to make a nice batch of soup to enjoy for 2-3 days as leftovers. I make a lot of turkey/veg or chick/veg soup and it is only like 90 cals/bowl plus I dont add salt, only pepper and garlic, and a few other seasonings and always use fresh ingrediants. The father from PROCESSED foods you can get, the easier your weight loss will be.
