Anyone want to set some goals with me for St. Patty's Day? I'm looking to lose 15 pounds by then and have my heart set on getting back into some slimmer clothes by spring. March is perfect timing for me because northern Wisconsin is just starting to warm up around mid-March. Any takers?? ;)

Good morning everyone! WELCOME!! I didn't think I'd have so many takers, but I'm so excited!! My hubby's birthday is March 2nd, so I'd love to be close to my St. Patty's Day goal by then just because I have smaller clothes I'd love to be back into when we go out for his birthday.
Welcome cryket & Jaaaacki!! I hope we can all push each other to meet our set goals!
Merry & Mousie - this is a perfect birthday challenge. What great motivation to lose and perfect timing!!
AMYC - welcome to the group. No real rules. Just drop in and check on everyone.
If everyone could tell us when their weigh-in day is so we know when to be watching. Also, share a bit more about why you decided on WW and what brought you to these forums. Are you a meeting-goer, an online member, or just doing it on your own at home. And share any other info you'd like to add. :D
I'm a meeting goer. I started 2/03 and lost 45 only to gain it back in a year. Then I re-committed 9/05 but have struggled to get the mentality I need to even lose 10 pounds. So... I stopped before the holidays and will re-commit after the first of the year. My bf, her mom, my mom & I are all buying the 17 week program they have been advertising. It's a pre-pay for 17 weeks that ends up costing about $8.50 a week instead of $11 a week. I'm excited to start back up with the company of friends and family. I'm going back to WW because I know it works and I need to make it work. I've been ttc for 5 years adn we're doing IVF this summer/fall and I want to be at an ideal weight before putting myself thru more treatments. I don't want anything standing in my way that I can control.
GOOD LUCK GIRLS!!! We can do this!!
P.S. My WI day is Tuesday evenings! LOL

I joined WW in July and have lost 34 lbs since then. I felt it was time to do it. Nothing else worked and WW is great - the support from the members is awesome. I go to the meetings - which I feel is a great modivator. Seeing the scale weight makes me want to go home and walk on my air walker - since it is too cold in Northern Ohio to walk in the snow!!
I weigh in on Tuesday afternoons - I lost 0.4lbs over the Christmas week - which a loss of ANY type I think is awesome - I even ate Mexician last week, plus Christmas Eve and Christmas dinners. I have stayed away from the Chocolate - which I love - so that has helped alot.
Don't they say the average person gains 5 lbs between Thanksgiving and Christmas - a maintain or loss during this time for ANYONE is awesome.
I love 3fc and the support or just the talking - keeps me in the right mind frame - I want to be able to wear a nice dress for Valentines Dinner Dance - so I am working hard for that!!

12-28-2005, 12:55 PM
Julie, I'm with you on the meetings! I love the support of the other members. I moved and had to change meetings, so I'm still adjusting, but I'm looking forward to re-starting with bf, her mom & my mom because none of us are the slightest bit shy, so hopefully we can get more people to open up!!
Beatles... What do you think is an attainable goal for you? 5 pounds? 10 pounds? A new pants size? I DEFINITELY suggest taking your picture before and your measurements. Nothing is more inspiring. When I thought I hadn't had a good month, I got my pictures back and compared the first month to the second month and the change was unreal. You don't always see it looking in the mirror everyday, but when the pictures or measurements are right in front of you... they tell the whole truth!!
Okay... I got off track. Sorry! LOL So, there are about 11 weeks till St. Patty's Day. It's not unreasonable to try for an average loss of 1 pound per week. So, how about you set a 10 pound loss goal? It's attainable, but difficult enough to really push you to TRY to get there. Welcome to the group!!!

Hey Everyone!! What a wonderful challenge to start the New Year with. I'm going to join you all if you don't mind. I joined Weight Watchers last week. My weigh in day will be Tuesday's. With the holidays though this week will be missed =( Oh well.
I am putting my goal for 20lbs for St Patty's Day. My best friend got engaged on Christmas and has asked that I be her Matron of Honor. I am so excited and refuse to be fat in her wedding.
So here we go!! Lets rock this out!! :carrot:
Bobaloola
12-28-2005, 03:13 PM
Malpay... WELCOME!! And congrats to you on being asked to be the Matron of Honor. Honestly... weddings are the reason I joined WW the first time. I was asked to be in 3 weddings in one summer. I REFUSED to be the "fat bridesmaid" in all of them, so I started WW in Feb. By the time the first wedding rolled around in May I'd lost 18 pounds and had my dress altered from a 20 to about a 14/16. By the August wedding I'd lost 25 pounds and altered the dress from an 18 to a solid 14. Then the September wedding came around and I had surpassed the 30 pound mark and my dress was so cute and tiny!!! Altered to around a size 12 from an 18!!!!!
So... I guess I'm sharing this to give you inspiration. I was so devestated when ordering the dresses because the ladies kept telling me I HAD to order the larger sizes because it was easier to shrink a dress than let it out. And that they'd heard the "diet speech" 101 times. So... I was beside myself with excitement when I got to go back and get INCHES taken off each dress!!!
You can do this and you will look and FEEL beautiful!!!!
malpay
12-28-2005, 03:26 PM
Lyndsay, isn't it amazing those women won't let us use the diet speech!
The last wedding I was in, I had to get sized 4 weeks after having my oldest daughter. The dress was a size 18 and I was devasted! I told the ladies that I would not be that size for the wedding and if I was to shot me. My surprise when I was 4 months pregnant in my friends wedding 9 months later and the dress fit!! Ha, thats what I get!! We are actually trying now for our third! But I would rather be pregnant, then fat! So I am on weight watchers until I found out I am pregnant. I will stick with the healthy eating, as I gained 50 lbs with my first two. I actually weigh now, only 10lbs less then I did when I gave birth. It is amazing when you let yourself go, what can actually happen!I am ready now!:carrot:

Ok a little about my history with WW.
I started the first time last April and lost 15 pounds by then end of June. I fell off the wagon around July 4th and gained back 8 pounds when I rejoined in October. I fell off again right around Halloween and have been off since. I have gained back 12 pounds this time. At least I'm not at my highest weight which was 191 just before I started last year.
I go to the meetings but have a 1 year old so its hard. Most weeks I just go to weigh in. I was thinking of skipping the meetings and saving the money since I know how to follow the plan and I can just weigh in at home.
I'm really hoping that 3's the charm and I can finally lose all the weight I've been wanting to for so long. I've just got to buckle down and kick the junk food habit.
My weigh in day will probably be on Monday's but I have the bad habit of stepping on the scale most mornings before I eat.

Hi Everyone, I would like to join your St Patty's Day challenge. I am not going to set too high, this way, I will not feel pressured. Realistically, I am going to set a goal of 7lbs. I look forward to getting to know all of you. Lucy
Alright, here is a little about my roadtrip to losing weight!! "lots of hills"
I did weight watcher a couple of years ago, did farely well. Then stopped going to meetings.(joined gym instead) So I had know one to answer to! I have done some different diet things, but I feel really good doing the WW plan.
Having a family, it makes it easier to eat what you want as long as you count the points.
Thanks, "GOOD LUCK EVERYONE"
AMY
OH YEAH- I am going to try to do it at home, since I have all my stuff!

Great job on the treadmill. I walk on my air walker in the eveining and I walk about 35 - 40 minutes. I started an exercise tape this week also. One thing I had not done before is take my measurements - so I did this morning - so I can see improvements in those numbers with my weight loss and exercise.

Good morning ladies!!
Lucyee - Welcome to our challenge! 7 pounds sound PERFECT and totally attainable. I can't wait to see your success!
AMYC - I know what you mean about falling off the wagon after stopping meetings. I stopped going to meetings only 8 pounds from goal and thought I'd be fine. Well... without that accountability, I fell hard. I tried on my own at home, but the accountability was still missing. So, hopefully, WE can be your accountability and you will have great success without having to pay that awful weekly fee! :)
Cryket - Congrats on the progress on the treadmill!! I usually do the elliptical machine when I go to the gym. The treadmill is HARD!! But that's partly me and the fact that I can't do the steady impact on my knees (one surgery down, one to go), so I really give you credit... 30 minutes is EXCELLENT!!!
Julie - I have to ask... what is an airwalker??? LOL
As for me... I'm still in a bit of a lymbo. I haven't started counting yet, but I've become much more aware of what I'm eating, what is in the house and needs to be gone by Tuesday and swapping out foods. My mom & I have decided that we're going to go to Sam's Club the Monday after New Years to start gearing up for our newest journey. My only major disappointment is that my brother called me last night and due to unusually warm weather (30-40 degrees) up here, we lost the ice they had started to make for broomball. And since we play on outdoor rinks, we're at the mercy of mother nature. So... they figure it'll be another 2 weeks at least before the season starts up. I'm so bummed!!! But, better late than never. I haven't played in 8 years and I am sooooo excited to get back into the action! :carrot:
Anywho... have a great day everyone!!

An Air Walker is exercise equipment that comes with electronics - times your workout, counts calories burned, distance and repetitions. Action poles simultaneously work your upper and lower body. It is a cast off product of Tony Little's Gazelle. I like it since it is esy on my knees - I have had surgery on one of them in the past

Ahhhh gotcha!! I'm the same with my knees. I use the elliptical or just walk because I can't do repetitive pounding. I'm 26 years old and they figure I'll be using a walker by the time I'm 50! I hope to prevent that. But honestly... I had pins put in my right knee 8/04 and I can tell that my weight is too much for them. They didn't hurt much before, but as I got heavier they hurt more and more. I weigh 30 pounds more than I did when I had that surgery. So, that's just one more thing pushing me to lose. The pain isn't worth that extra piece of cake! KWIM??

Dear Lyndsay, So glad to be welcomed to the challenge. I have a web tv unit and I used to belong to the ww message board, on the ww site, but they upgraded and my system is not compatible, with ww, anymore. I have been doing badly, this year, with my weight loss. I need all the help I can get. When I saw your challenge it caught my eye and I felt motivated to try. I haven't read all the posts yet, but will, today. I am having a lot of knee and leg and joint problems, you think that would be enough motivation?? Anyway, a little about me. I am retired. I live in New Jersey, across from New York City. Since I retired, I no longer have my car and the small city, I live in, you do a lot of walking. I am not able to, so I am anxious this year to make some progress. My weigh in day would be Tuesdays. So, Hi to everyone and glad to be joining all of you. Thanks Lucy

Hi Lyndsay and everyone.....
I would love to be a part of the St. Patty's Day challenge too!!!! My Christmas was horrible as far as eating goes...(the rest was great)...but I really think I need a challenge to get me back in gear!!! I don't know what happened to me during Christmas...ugggghh....it was bad enough that I ate like a pig...but I also gave up on the exercise program that i had been doing religiously every day. I know this is no excuse but so many people were telling me how great I was looking,etc....that I guess I got "comfortable" with things and thought to myself...."a little of this or that won't hurt"....well it turned into a lot of this and that...eeeek. I know I can't do this to myself because that's how people end up gaining back weight and I don't want to do that.
Besides the "big goal" of wanting to be thinner and healthy for ttc....we are also slotted to go to Country Fest...(Lyndsay..you might know about this)...it's a four day country music festival in Cadott Wisconsin and this year is the 25 yr anniversary. It may sound silly but I want to be thin and HOT for Country Fest..lol. We went to Rock Fest in 2003 (similar to Country Fest except it's rock bands)...anyways...we had a great time but I know that I would have had a much better time if I wouldn't have been 100 pounds overweight. All of my friends had cute little shorts and bathing suits on and I barely could muster up the nerve to wear "long walking shorts"....I felt soooo self-conscious and I know it affected the time I had there. My dream for this year...is to be one of the cute little gals that can wear whatever....I know I'll probably never be a "bikini girl"...but just a cute cami and short shorts...would be a dream come true for me. Of course..I'm not losing weight "just" for that.....I do want to be a healthy person most of all. Both of my parents are type II diabetics and my dad just had a stent placed in his coronary artery. He has really stepped it up and has lost 28 pounds already...I am soooo proud of him!!!!
Anyways..this has gotten wayyyyyyyyyy long...sorry. Back to the subject...I'd love to be a part of the challenge...I too will set a goal of 15 pounds by St. Patty's Day. I'd love to set a goal of 20..but I'm not sure that is attainable for me....I don't want to be dissapointed. But then hey...if I do end up losing 20..that will be awesome. My weigh in day is on Friday. Ok..I'm excited about this...thanks everyone...
hugs,

roundRN... We got a deal on 2 tickets to Countryfest last year. It was the first time I'd ever gone, but WOW! I LOVED IT!!! We're actually going to see George Strait in the cities on Jan 13th. I'm just pumped!! But I totally understand what you described about how you want to look at C.F. It's one of those places where you look around and think, "God I HATE skinny people!!" I know that was me this past summer. I'm with you... just the ability to wear cute LITTLE summer clothes. To not feel like a whale wearing a moomoo in the summer when everyone else is showing tan skin. Yes... been there, done that!! LOL
And when you have lost a bunch of weight and people keep telling you how great you look, when you look in the mirror you feel better about what you see and suddenly you become lax in what you're doing. You say, "I've done so good, I like how I look, this won't kill me." Oh sweetie... I did that the summer of 2004 and ended up right back here, trying to lose it all again. I'm glad you're getting a quick hold on it because it can do you in. You HAVE come so far and I bet you DO look great, but think of how you'll FEEL once you reach goal. Once you have made it to that point that you initially said, "This is where I want to be." It will feel 200 times better than people telling you how good you look now. You'll feel victorious and people will be telling you AGAIN how fantastic you look. Keep up the great work!!
Lucyee - I'm glad you joined with us. I think a diet is the HARDEST thing to do alone. And being retired or a stay at home mom would be so much harder!! I hope you find the inspiration and support you need here. Good luck!!

I forgot to add that I am doing WW at home on my own. I couldn't afford meetings so I did ALOT of research online and off I went. I have been doing it for 11 weeks now and I have lost 29 lbs. I weigh in on Monday so I will post each Monday morning :D I started WW because I had tried so many things that just frustrated me. I was my highest weight EVER and I was starting to not fit in my biggest pant size EVER. :( I went from a tight 20 to a loose 18 already and am sooooo excited to get back into my size 14s. I haven't seen under 200 since before I got married in 2000. each pound lost makes it easier and easier to go on and stick with it.

I'd love to join this challenge too.
St Patrick's Day isn't that big a deal here in New Zealand but I need anything to keep me motivated.
I'm doing WW by myself at home so would love the motivation of this forum.
I really have to get myself back on track. I lost 25 pounds with JC last year but have slowly been putting weight back on. I know WW works as I've done it before so I keep going back to it.
The plan is slightly different here so bear with me if I act dumb about some of the things you chat about.

I guess the biggest difference is that your Core Program has only just been released here..this week in fact.
Well I think it's Core..it's hard to tell cause the names for our programs are different too...as well as our point allowances and WW products available.
Be thankful that you have so much ff and sugar free products available there, we don't have very much at all.
Okay, I worked out hard today burning around 1000 cals! With the reading from my new heart rate watch. (santa brought it)
I am excited about this goal so I was glad to get back to the gym tonight!!

It looks like we are all off to a great start!! My family and I went out for Chinese last night, but I was so good!! Big salad first then a few bites of yummy stuff, there goes some of my flex points but thats all right. I still haven't working out. Except for the million trips up and down the stairs putting away Christmas decorations. My goal is Yoga today, my girls enjoying doing that with me.
Well I hope everyone has a great Friday and Happy New Years!!

I would like to join the challenge too!
I would be happy with 18 pounds by St. P!!. I lost 10 on WW starting in August, but put back on about 8 of it in the last 2 months. It was frustrating. I want to lose a total of 30 lbs. More than I have ever wanted to lose in my life! I gained all 30 in the last 3 years! I want more than anything, though lower my body fat down 8%. That will then be in a reasonable zone. That may not happen by St. Patty's day, but we will see. It is also my best friend's 30th bday two days later, and we are going to Vegas!
I am not going to fail this time!

 I typed out a big long reply and it got lost somewhere! grrrr!
Anyway, A little about me. I did WW years ago and had much success. When my dh and I hooked up I became lax and we ate out a lot etc etc. Well many years of yo-yo dieting and bad eating have left me here. My mother in law dropped a bomb on us just before Christmas and announced we would be having family pics taken. Well I panicked! I didn't want any pictures of me like this! That was enough for me, I want my life back :D So here I am, and next year when the family picture time comes around I won't be afraid lol. Plus, I'm tired of being this way.
Looking forward to much success with you all ;)
Alright, I set me up my lil tickler for my goal!!
I think I am ready to start watching it move!!!
Hopefully on tues. it will down. I have been on
the same # for way to long, I thought my old scale was
broken cause it would stay at the same spot.
I have a new ww one. It's really cool!
Hope you all are doing well!

I felt the New Year's Eve Holiday was very hard to resist - harder than Christmas. I broke down and had a few sauerkraut balls - they were awesome - but I did eat veggies also. I walked a little longer Sunday to make up for it.
I weigh in this evening - so I will let you know. I feel pretty good - I had a good week - and didn't eat dinner out at all.

My mom, best friend, her mom & I all bought the 17 week deal, so we are pre-paid thru the end of April. I'm planning on making serious progress between now and then.
Also, I found out that we have complete coverage for IVF. We've been ttc for 5 years and been through a lot of poking and prodding. I have PCOS and don't cycle, so this is our last shot at a pregnancy & baby. So... since we have the insurance and really want to get moving, I'm determined to lose at LEAST 20 pounds before starting all of the procedures. I'd like to lose 30, but whatever works. At least now I have a serious incentive!! WOOHOO
And congrats to those who maintained and WOOHOO to those who lost at the WI's after the holidays. That is a HUGE feat!! Congrats!

Lyndsey that's so great hear about the insurance.
It will definite help to have a big goal to work towards for your weight loss journey and I know I'm not the only onw that will be praying that this all results in the child that you hope for.
All the best
Alrighty, I am on my way 1lb lighter this week and my TOM. I think thats great, I usually tend to retain alot aroung this time. I am usually ^ 2.
Keep up the hard work!!!

gsd72 - just remember - working out you are improving your muscles - which weight more than fat - but looks so much better - you will really start seeing the weight go down if you keep up the exercise and watching what you eat! Good luck

At WI today I lost another 1.2 for a total of 38 :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:
With exercising everyday this week (except for Migraine Sunday) I thought it would be more - but I will take it!!:D
Only 11 more pounds for St Patty's day. I have been averaging about 1 to 1.2 pounds a week so I may not reach the St. Patty's goal since I would have to lose 1.4 each week from now to then. BUT I will keep trying:carrot: :carrot:
Hello everyone!
You all are doing great! I also have been working out every night for the last week and half, I am starting to see some toning (not sure if spelled right?)
I have been using lots of weights so I tend to tone then lose.
My diet has been good, BUT one cheat dinner this week! After a hard workout!!
Staying the same for now, but not for long.........:wl:

Hello~ Been while here~ Been really sick since my deal with the abcessed tooth that got in my sinuses. I went to docs this morning, I got sinus infection, ear infection and pink eye.
But on another note i weighed in tonight lost 1.5 pounds and I am at 21 pounds lost ~

Oh Cryket... that sucks!!! I hope you feel better soon!!
Sorry I've been MIA girls. And honestly... I've suffered from it! I gained 2 pounds this week and only because of my own fault. Anything that was edible and not bolted down was consumed... usually it was extremely sweet or fatty. If I craved it I ate it... I'm lucky I only gained 2!
So, now I'm back on the wagon and recommitted. If I don't make my goal it's my own fault. I'm stepping up the activity. Tomorrow I go to a Have A Ball class (exercise ball) with my best friend. Wednesday is broomball night. And Thursday I may use my gift certificate for one free month to the YMCA by work. We shall see!
On a good note I have serious motivation to get my weight down. I went to my OB/GYN and we agreed that my next step in ttc is to go straight to IVF. We have our consultation with the "super RE" from the University of Minnesota on March 8th. I hope to have reached my St. Patty's Day goal by then. I'm not going to do that if I keep on my current path, so I'm back and ready to go. I needed you girls more than I gave myself credit for!
Thanks for listening to me whine! Time to catch up on everyone! Have a great week!!

WOW! Look at the success on this challenge! AWESOME!!! Welcome djmommy! The more the merrier! :)
I had WI last night and was down another 2.6 to my extreme surprise. So, I reached my Ground Hog's Day goal and am on my way for my St. Patty's Day goal. We also measured and took pictures last night. I was down 10.25 inches! WOOOOHOOOOO!! Honestly, my measurements gave me that extra boost. I was so disappointed that I only lost 6 pounds this time on my first month. The first time on WW I had lost 9. So I was frustrated about my 2 pound gain last week stopping me from being more for the month. Plus, my best friend who joined with me is at 14.6 for the month! I'm so jealous!! But I'll catch up!
Also, dh has to do an 8-week better health challenge for his Health & Wellness lab class at school this semester. So, I told him I'd do it with him. I'm joining the gym and getting my body analysis done and then I will workout after work. He works out at school during class and his new job has him working nights, so I'm disappointed we can't workout together, but I'll just do some classes and use the eliptical. Anyway... I'm excited. Ready to keep on truckin!!!

No work out for me
today. I have to admit I feel guilty. Which is good. I can not cuz of a cold. Hopefully I feel better tom and will get it in. A have a lot of challenges coming up, I hope I stay on plan. If I can lose another 2 pds before my buddies come for a visit I may stay op for that time. I guess I mean it may make it easier to stay op. The good thing is they are visiting me so I do have control of the food we will be eating. It is the happy hr that may be hard. I relly miss them and we always have wine and laugh and chat for hrs. They are all spending the night since we live out of state. There will be 10 girls. The dh is going to a hotel with the boys for the night. I can not wait. I just need to have a plan. oh well I have a week to worry about it. Good luck today ladies

How's everyone's day going today?? I am doing well... got to the end of the day yesterday and after dessert realized I still had 6 points left and it was 9:00 at night. I had a couple pieces of chocolate to use 2 more points, but was still under. I was over 20 though. It shocked me because mostly I've been having to dip into my flex points every day. Nice feeling that I wasn't overly hungry and didn't obsess about it. :)
Oh and I joined a challenge at work. The HR department has sent out a buddy challenge to "walk around Lake Superior" in 12 weeks. That's 1300 miles. They are counting miles walked and converting a certain amount of minutes worked out into miles. There is a prize for the farthest distance (most activity) and the most weight lost (might change to highest % of fat lost to make it even). So, my buddy is my best friend and I'm joining the gym on Monday. She already goes... we're pretty excited and going to really try to make a go at it! :) It's a great buddy challenge and we'll hopefully motivate each other like we already are (she is in WW with me too). I'll keep ya posted. It starts Feb 13th and ends May 5th. :)

OK, I'm thinking about this. Is it realistic to hope to lose 16 pounds by St. Patrick's day to make me an even 190? Or is that pushing it, at almost three pounds a week?
That's my tentative goal. If anybody thinks that is to hard for a six week goal on WW flex, please let me know. I want to create successful experiences.
Chrissy1175

I'm setting my St. Patty's goal of 15lbs. I know it'll be difficult but I'm looking forward to the challenge.
I joined WW on 12/29 and started seriously following the program on 1/8. Since then I've lost 11.8lbs. :carrot: :carrot: I turned 30 in November and decided I wasn't going to be fat in my 30's like I was most of my 20's. THIS is my year to become that 'hot chick'....no wait...THIS is our year to become a bunch of 'hot chicks' ;)
Ok, I have a help me question...I bought a treadmill about a week ago...how do I motivate myself to walk the 5 ft from the sofa to the treadmill to walk, for any amount of time, after working all day? How do you all do it? What tips can ya give me? I've tried talking myself into it but I usually end up talking myself out of it. I've tried getting up earlier in the morning but I can't seem to do that either...I'm not a morning person at all. Help!!! Any and all suggestions are welcome. :)
Thanks in advance for the support.

The scale was not my friend yesterday. :( I WI on Sundays and have been doing fairly well, not always losing a lot but at least losing some...until yesterday. I could come up with a hundred and one reasons for the gain....TOM...stress...no time/too tired to exercise...blah blah blah...but it all comes down to this one fact...it's my own fault. I'm the one who went off program....I'm the one who decided to eat out 3 times in 2 days...it's disappointing to me but I think in a strange way I needed to gain...Silly I know but I was getting too lax in my thoughts....i know WW works...I know it does....I just have to focus on my goal again....I need to just press on...To be honest I really REALLY wanted to give in yesterday. I thought to myself what does it matter...I don't have the longterm will power that I'm going to need to finish this. When i was thinking this I reached for the phone and called on my support. All my GFs are thin so they aren't doing the program with me, however anytime, day or night, i need support all i have to do is pick up the phone and one of them will help me through the issue. That's what I needed and got yesterday. I was able to get the help and support I needed to realize I can fall off program, and it's ok...as long as I get back on. Besides, I didn't gain it all back...just 1lb.
Ok, I think I've rambled enough...thanks for listening...

Chrissy, so glad you found the support you needed when you needed it most. I can tell you I've BTDT!! There are days I wonder why I'm trying so hard. I am 26 years old and will probably play this yo-yo game in some way or another until the day I die. Plus, I hope to be pregnant this spring and will gain weight with that. But when it comes down to it... I want to like myself, I want to feel healthier, I want to climb stairs without feeling like my chest is going to explode... I want to LOSE WEIGHT! So I stick with it. I've falled off the wagon hard core a few times... all you can do is pick yourself up and dust off. You are right... every now and then we NEED those gains to remind us that we are not perfect and if we are lax on the plan, the scale will reward us with a big fat GAIN! So... I'm glad you forgave yourself and moved on! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
Osborn... WOOOHOOOO Girl! You are soooo close! You are such an inspiration... it's so nice to see someone who's going thru it and succeeding. You are awesome girl!!!
Cryket... congrats on your 10% girl! And 25 pounds WOOHOO!!! I am hoping to reach my 20% before my 17-week winter pass that I bought as their January 1st promotion runs out.
My update is that I have an NSV... I am wearing size 14s today!!!!!! I'm so excited. It's been about 8 months since I was able to button up this size pants. I went thru all my 14s and found that half of them fit nicely, the other half should in about a week or two. WOOHOO!! Tonight is WI and I'm actually looking forward to it! :) I'll keep all of ya posted! I've decided that I REALLY want to lose another 10 pounds from my current weight before I go to my IVF consult one month from today. So, it's time to get this tushy movin!
For those who would like an idea of an exercise calendar... here's mine. Others, please share!!
Mon - Salsa Cardio Class (1hr) & lunch walk (1/2hr)
Tues - WI - lunch walk (45min) & Have a Ball Class (1hr)
Wed - lunch walk (1/2 hr), Salsa Cardio Class (1hr) & Broomball (1hr)
Thurs - lunch walk (1/2 hr) & Eliptical & weights (1hr)
Fri - lunch walk SOMETIMES (1/2hr) & Eliptical & weights (1hr)
Sat - maybe a workout
Sun - Rest
Per my work challenge that'll be 35 miles a week!!! And that all is subject to change... but really what I'm aiming for for at LEAST one month because of my March goal! BRING IT ON!!!

Noway, I will wear a dressy pant outfit if I have too, which I really do not want too. Oh well , Of f to clean the house, maybe I will burn some calories that way too. have a great day.

Welcome Lisa!
Well, WI was last night and I REALLY thought I'd have a bigger loss, but it's still a good loss... 1.8. So I am over 1/2 way to my St. Patty's Day goal and hoping to achieve it a bit early. Gotta keep going!!! :)

Welsome Lisa, the more the merrier!
DJ dont settle for a pant suit you can do it, I noticed I do better when I eat half of my earned activity points and try to stay away from flex points. I know with your thyroid it can be uncontrollable but have you been tracking and staying within the range and not losing? You have done so awesome I am just inquiring because I am nosy..I also recommend pilates to tone up quickly. Winsor pilates got me in my tight pants comfortably in a week on no diet!

Hi lisa, Glad you are here.. We should tell the others to join this since it is a slow thread on the other one. Hildy you are right. I should not settle for less than what I want. I watched the biggest loser yes and that is always a great inspiration..... Anyway, currently I am not doing ww. I was and really had a difficult time. I think due to the thyroid. I started sb in jan and lost 14 pds so far. Once I get situated again I will go back to ww and do the core. That seems to be the best for me.I also work out 5-6 days a week. 3 days is arebics with weights and walking for 30 min....2 days is an hr of weight trainig with an instructor. Sometimes I walk for an hr or so before that class. If I have not worked out than I will run a few miles. So that is my workout. I think my hardest days are the weekends. Dh is home and kids and I tend to lose my focus. Anyway I hope you all continue to stay op,and good luck with all your weigh ins. Conradulations to you all with the weight loses.

Hello Ladies.....It's been a few days since I checked in...I've had a rather nasty cold that put me out for a few days. That's the bad news. The good news is I lost 2.4lbs. I did eat...soups and jello (lots of jello) but I just wasn't eating my Flex Points. I'm all better now so we're back to normal eating. I'm thinking though that I will try harder not to eat my Flex Points. I've already put the activity points away, so next step less Flex Points. Thanks for the advise on that Hildy. I do have one question for you though...How do you do the pilates? I've tried it but I always seem to hurt more than I think I should when I'm done. Any suggestions?

I went home last night and walked 3 miles. I really need a good loss next WI.
I love to read how everyone is doing. I haven't had a gain in about 1 1/2 months so not losing yesterday should not be devastating - but it is.

I have only lost six pounds so far for the sixteen pounds. Is ten pounds in one month unrealistic for WW flex, or can it be done? Should I revise my goal or is that never done?
Merrygold
02-17-2006, 01:27 PM
Ah, lulu, I am nowhere near my St. P. goal either :o but I'm not going to change it. I don't think it's realistic for me to lose that much weight in a month though I've seen others do it. I suppose that's one more thing for me to accept...that this will not be fast or easy for me :snail:

I just picked a goal. I will be happy with anything. I will try to shoot for that goal but if I do not I will be alright. I got my workout in and during an interval with weights,I laid them down and smashed my finger. OUCH..... Anyway I continued and it hurt like @#$$. I later noticed it was not turning blue..the nail... But turned it over and the back of my finger was hard and blue...I did go to the doc. He told me it will hurt jfor a long time and could go down my whole finger. WHAT A CLUTZ.... anyway thank God I t was my left hand. It is throbbing but I am still able to work out. So that is my story for the day.. To all you who work with weights, Be very careful.... I guess this happens often. Anyway I jdid good today. Stayed op. Hopefully tom goes as well.

hello all....hope every one's having a good weekend....i worked over a big hurdle myself. Went to see my 2 oldest sisters last night...this is usually a very stressful thing for me which usually translates into lots of eating...however...i worked my way through the stress and stayed on points...i was even able to have a few left over for the ride home :D We went to Applebee's and I had the Grilled Tilapia with Mango Salsa and the Berry Lemon Cheesecake....it was really good :D...i'm not a big fan of Applebee's but I found I like the WW menu....
Lulu, don't worry about the 10lbs...i'm having a hard time with my last 13lbs of my goal too. But i'm not going to change it...I figure as long as I work my program and do what I need to do then if I lose 13lbs or 1lb I'll be happy... Sometimes we have to make little goals within our big goals....my mini-goal for the week is just to exercise everyday....i've been following the program well and so I'm thinking that exercising will help that....The main thing is not to give up.....
I've gotta go for now....have a good weekend everyone :D

I did it. I woke up late this morning and didn't have time for breakfast (i know, how long does it really take...I didn't take the time for breakfast) so I'm really kinda feeling hungry right now. Well, there was a guy here selling breakfast burritos....they smelt so good and looked so tasty....I was SOOOOO tempted to get one. Almost....I walked away. I decided that it wasn't that much longer til lunch and going one day without breakfast wasn't the end of the world. I've never really been a breakfast person but lately I've made myself eat something. And I must admit I do feel better when I eat breakfast and I tend not to need as much at lunch to feel full. Who knew everyone was right...breakfast is an important part of your day.
I hope everyone's having a good day. And if not I hope it's going like mine....it started out bad but it's turning into a good day. :)

02-23-2006, 05:15 PM
Ok...after turning down a breakfast burrito in the morning (I was late for work and didn't take time to eat something) I was really hungry at lunch. What I wanted to do was run to DQ and get the chicken basket, which is 23 or so points (according to DWLZ). I was on my way to my car when I stopped and literally talked to myself for a minute or so and decided to go back into the office and eat the WW frozen dinner I had. I was very proud of myself for that. I was still hungry afterwards but not enough to tempt me into going to the vending machine and getting a candy bar or some other junk. Again another good thing. :) After work I go right to class so I don't have time to go home and get something to eat. Usually I either bring something from home or stop at subway and get a 6 pt sandwich. However last night, after fighting temptation all day, I stopped at Sonic. Which could have been ok had I gotten a lower point sandwich and a small tator tots…but no…I had to get the 16 pt Coney dog and a 9 pt large tator tots…and the sad thing is that it didn’t even taste half as good as I remember it tasting. Technically I was still OP because I just used a few of my Flex and Activities points, which I haven’t been using, but I am so disappointed in myself. I mean I could have stopped at Subway (which is right next door) and gotten a turkey sandwich with cheese and light ranch dressing and still have been under my points. But I didn’t. :(
Ok…I think I feel better now. I know what I did was detrimental to my weight loss, however it wasn’t the end of the world. It was a bump in the road of my journey. It wasn’t a stop sign. I will move on. :)
Thanks for listening to my pity party. Hope everyone’s having a great day. Just one more day ‘til Friday!!!

It's hard, Chrissy. I'm on a plateau which is annoying the heck out of me after losing 15 pounds in 3 weeks. I ate almost thirty of my flex points this week. For some reason, I have been very very hungry.
Well, now I know.... I can maintain with flex points but I can't lose with them unless I"m going to exercise or something. Hmmm... maybe I should consider that Wendie plan.

Hello everyone! Had WI today. Didn't do as well as I wanted but I didn't do as badly as I thought I was going to do. I lose .4lbs. I stayed within my points so I was a bit disappointed however I didn't exactly choose the right foods to eat. So right after the meeting I went to the grocery store and stocked up on healthy foods for the week. I got salad fixin's and fruit. I won't be caught without a meal planned this week. I've also made a commitment to myself to walk on my treadmill for at least 30 minutes at least 4 days this week.
I've got 19 days until St. Patty's day. I'm gonna make my goal. I've only got 10 more pounds. I think it's doable. And if I stick to my plan then if I don't make it at least I'll know I've done what I can from today until the 17th to make it happen.
Hope everyone's doing good.

Hey everyone! I've finally dragged my big fat hiney back here with the knowledge that I HAVE to do this. I'm completely lost my motivation these past couple of weeks and am doing anything I can to get it back. I fell off the wagon hard after a long 60-hour work week of working a major "sit on my butt and twiddle my thumbs" event while deciding to move in the midst of the coldest winter days in the midwest! So... now we're FINALLY moved in and in a situation where I can go back to preparing meals instead of eating out all the time. I also have a YMCA membership that I've used TWICE in the past 3 weeks. UGH!!! Someone give me a big kick in the hiney... PLEASE?!?! I adjusted my St. Patty's Day goal to reflect something more attainable.
Any words of wisdom from those of you who's willpower is WINNING instead of losing to the evil junk food devil on your left shoulder???

Way to go, Osborn! I have six more pounds to lose by St. Patrick's day, which I fear is not realistic -- especially since I have to go to California on short notice. I'm sort of playing with the idea of having no expectations on this trip and to instead just try to maintain the current loss. I'm not sure what sort of impact this trip will have on me.

Ok...I know this will probably sound pretty childish but I have to complain. After I started WW I started keeping track of my points and EVERYTHING I ate or drank on an excel spreadsheet. It was over 8 weeks worth of food and points values. My weight loss by week was on there with my exercise, water intake AND even if I took my vitamin each day. ANYWAY....yesterday I tried to open my file to put my lunch down and somehow, something happened to it. I can't open it. I was so upset that I wanted to cry. All of that work and I lost it. :(
At this point I wanted to give up....however...my mother pointed out that just because I lost all my data didn't mean that I gained my 17lbs lost back. And you know what? She was right. :D So after nearly blowing my program because I was so upset I lost a silly file, when I got home I sat down at my computer and started a new file...this time I've backed it up. :D
Ok...I believe that you can learn from everything you experiance. So what did I learn from this? Besides the fact I need to back up all my files :D I learned that my will power is stronger now then it was a year ago. I learned that my weight loss is important to me and that I CAN and WILL lose this weight. And that a setback that seems big at the time is really small compared to my losing this weight. :)
Thanks for listening....Hope everyone is having a good week...or are learning from the small setbacks we all have...but will work through. :)
'night.

Welcome girlshoes... this is an awesome challenge. Jump on board! Chrissy... doesn't it just SUCK when you lose files like that. I've definitely BTDT and it helps you to learn that even computers aren't perfect, so we can't expect ourselves to be either!! Good job on sticking with it and letting it roll off your shoulders!
As for me... just struggling with my mindset today! I am doing fine, but go from frustrated to an "I don't care anyway" attitude at the snap of a finger. My biggest problem is that we are going to start ttc 100% starting next week. Going to the RE, starting everything to get our IVF rolling by April. So a big part of me keeps wanting to cheat with the excuse that the meds I have to take will make me gain anyway. UGH!!! I hate this! My willpower is trying to sneak out of my grasp again and I feel like a weakling! Any thoughts, tips or suggestions on how to keep on track or reprogram my darn brain??

HI guys,
I've been sick and not online.
I haven't been doing that well on my diet. I just eat what makes me feel better. I'll worry about dieting when I feel better! :)
Hope all are well. I hope I didn't gain too much weight, but I've been sick with both bronchitis and some kind of flu bug. It totally sucks!!

Lisa hope you are feeling better soon. I was mia for a while too. Just plain busy. Working out but not really watching what I ate. I feel great today .Lyndsay my mind set seems to be here today but I was having a heck of a time earlier.. I hope i stay this way for the whole week. I have had many challenges and I must say I did not do well on any of them. I wish I could do as well at parties and get togethers as I do at home... Oh well lessons learned as long I do something with what I learned. I did gain alittle back. I am all over the scale. I had my thyroid levels drawn today so that may be why. However I put on apair of jeans that did not FIT in oct. I am wearing them now.WHOOO.,I think that was a motivater. Anyway good luck to you all.We will do 0this.........

good evenin' ya'll... Had WI yesterday... thought for sure i was going to gain because of TOM...however I was down .2lbs. Good thing is that I didn't gain. Bad thing is I don't think I'm going to make my St. Patty's goal. :( Oh well...at least I'm still in the game. It's been 9 weeks and I haven't given up yet, even though there were times I wanted to....I bet we all have felt this way at some point, huh? I'm just glad I have ya'll's support here and my family and friends support here at home... I don't know if I'd made it without all of you. Thanks for listening and giving me support when I need it and a kick in the pants sometimes too. :) Hope you all have a good week.

Well I wish I was celebrating as much as everyone else! I according to my scale at home (morning weight naked) am down a pound and a half from last week but according to ww scale last night I am UP .2! It is my first increase on their scale! AHHH! I am trying to turn it into a positvie by saying that it will help me get refocused. I need to rethink the reasons why I put my heart into this so much and not give up now. I also got my mother in law to join and we are going to start making dinner at her house until my kitchen is done! I hope it helps!
So great job to all you losers and hope that I can be strong and win my battle!

Hello - I thinking setting goals for St. Pats is a wonderful Idea. I try to set a goal each day - mainly to get through each day.
My goal for St. Pats is to have increased my exercise (cardio) to 60 minutes 5 days a week with 3 days of Weight training with it.
I have a lot weight I am trying to shed - so I try not to focus on my long term goal - it is a long way off - so short term goals are great!
Northern Wisconsin eh? I am from the U.P. of Michigan (But live in Boston now)...So *waving* HI there neighbah

Well its a good thing I was over my goal by 3lbs because thats exactly how much I gained this week. I know a lot of it is because of TOM so I almost expect to gain every 4th week. It is usually followed by a big loss the following week so hopefully next week will make up for it.

Keep yourself focused - and you will be fine
Remember all of us (at least women) have the TOM but we can overcome (at least the next WI we can. Let us know

Made my St. Patty's goal of 5 lbs. I started at 223.4 for this goal and now I'm down to 216.8, so I've actually lost 6.6 lbs. and exceeded my goal. Yahoo!:carrot: :carrot:
I also reached another milestone tonight at weigh-in. I have now lost over 25 lbs...actually I've lost a total of 27.2 so far.
I'm thrilled that this is working.
Hope everyone else makes their St. Patty's Day goal!

I have to say you all have inspired me. I am new to this board and just watching each of you work towards a goal has me wanting to do the same. I know each of you are still working on the St Patty's day goals, but I was wondering if anyone was going to start another challenge after this one? I have been doing WW for a few months and have that long term goal, but it seems so far away that need another something to keep me on track. :flow1:

Well St. Patty's is in just a few days - I still need my 1 pound to meet my goal. I walked 5 miles on Monday and 3.3 miles yesterday. I will WI (on my WW scale) Friday morning and hopefully it will show the results I am looking for. Bummed me out at my regular WW WI I gained 0.8 lbs - I know this isn't much but I was shooting for 50 lbs lost total this week - will have to try for next week. These mini challenges helps me so much - keeps me on track pretty well - better than looking at the ultimate goal

Congratulations, Hildy, on the 10%! I hit 10%, too! Very exciting.
I went to California for a few weeks and I didnt even try to stay on plan. I ate and drank alcohol and I lost 3.8 pounds while I was gone.
But I seriously doubt that I will make my St. Patrick's day challenge of losing 16 pounds in six weeks. I'm still happy about not gaining any weight on vacation, it just set me back a little bit.

I didn't make my St. Patty's goal either. :( However I'm very proud of myself for not giving up completely. And believe me there have been times I sure wanted to. I'm sure all of us have felt that way at one time or another. So YEA for us for sticking to it through the bad times. :carrot: :carrot:
I'm up for the Easter challenge. See ya'll there!
