We are a thread dedicated to making losing weight a pleasant experience. We laugh, cry and talk together. We have challenges, points for staying on program, drinking our water, and exercising. We have a daily topic to join in. Our only focus is to help us realize that dieting and all that goes with it need not be unpleasant, but can be fun. Come join the fun here at Time for Serious Fun! TUESDAY: Today is Target Tuesday and our target this week is sweets! You know you are gonna have 'em so try and limit them to just a taste of your favs instead of a whole piece. Try drinking water inbetween parties etc to keep you filled up too!

Morning gals! Well, after getting a call to come into the dr asap (they had a cancellation) we rushed over then sat for 3.5 hours! We were the last patient in the whole practice and it is a big one! Jack was beyond pissed off. We sat in the waiting room for a hour and a half (it was FULL of mostly babies and prego women which in my mind was a BAD sign) then they took us back and took his vitals, said there wasn't an open room and stuck us outside the lab to sit and wait for another hour and a half. Jack finally threw a mini fit and they went and did his xray or the tech would have been gone and it would have all been for nothing. It was anyway as the doctor told him to get a cup for his heel in his shoe and if it doesn't improve in 2 weeks come back! We paid to hear something we already knew! Total waste of time. We went to Walgreens and replaced the thingy we had in his shoe with something else to see if it will help and bought an extra to put in his work shoe so we shall see. I am going to start him on some physical therapy with a ball this afternoon when he gets home as I am told that will relieve the inflammation of the heel spur. I hate the practice we are attached to anyway because they take a lot of Medicaid and Medicare patients and so the practice if full up all the time and you can't get in. My poor husband had to wait a week and a half to get in and do what we did! One of the things I hate most about sitting there is seeing all the teenage girls pregnant or with babies. There were a pair of them, not over 15 with a new baby and one about 5 months old and they sat there and let them cry while they talked on the damn phone (which you aren't supposed to have on in the dr office anyway but no one will enforce it!) I was getting ready to blow my top about the babies (Jack kept telling me to calm down and ignore it) The one baby was big enough to crawl and had crawled out of the waiting room into the entrance where the outside door was!!!!! I told Jack I was giving her ONE minute then I was going to blow! About that time, they called him back. It was sickening you guys to see all those children having children. The problem with changing is with Jack. He would have to go through another complete physical somewhere else all the blood tests and everything to start his referrals to his cardiologist. They called yesterday and are putting him on another drug because his HDL is like 29 and his LDL is 79 or something like that. They are worried about the HDL and are going to try this drug on him for 90 days I guess! {{{{{SIGH}}}}}

Everyone sounds like they are succumbing to the holiday treats so be prepared to start working hard on Jan 2. I am giving you until then in case any of you plan of New Year's Eve partying then we are going to kick butt. I want everyone except me to be at goal by Christmas of next year. As for me, I want to be a shadow of my current self!

WEDNESDAY: Today is Wednesday's woes. A day we can gripe about whatever we want!

I only have a minute girls as I am making fudge this morning and need to get to it and get it done. I have cleaning to do also and I want to get it done first thing this morning also. Tomorrow is Christmas cookie day, though I only make a small batch for grandson and family, but it still takes time to cut them out and bake and decorate.

Hello, everyone...Faye, you are right. January 1 I'm hitting the weight loss trail hard. Had an appointment for my asthma yesterday and darned if she didn't insist on weighing me. I've gained 8 pounds since I was there last (a few could be because it was late in the day as opposed to first thing in the morning and I had on heavy winter clothes and shoes), but not good. So now she says I need to lose 15-20 pounds (which would put me at 140-145) to improve my asthma. So I came into work this morning to find a huge tray of muffins, candy, cookies, fruit cake and fudge on my desk from the cleaning people so I put that in the kitchen for all to share. Can't have that sugar or that will be up, I was really on the border line last time it was checked since the acceptable numbers have been lowered.

My husband continues to have good and bad days, but as long as I have him I don't care what I have to do to keep him going. He's actually able to get around the house with his cane again so that is definitely an improvement. He's been eating a little more but still has days he can't eat at all so we aren't making much progress there.

Plan to stay home and have a quiet Christmas. He'll probably sleep the afternoon away and I'll quilt, which is fine with me.

Hi guys,

I am with you Faye - January 2nd is D Day for me (the gym is closed on Jan 1st!). I did my big Christmas shop today and whilst I got a few treats (and my friend gave me a box of chocs), I didn't go overboard. I've been overeating for about a week now and I feel like I've put on a tonne of weight - but that is probably TOM more than anything. I've been going to the gym so things can't be that bad - well whatever the damage, I'll sort it out with gusto in the New Year - and I MEAN THAT 100%!!!

FAYE - Sorry you were kept waiting so long at the doctors - the longest I have waited is an hour and that was bad enough! We have loads of teenage mums here too - South Yorkshire has the hightest teen pregnancy rate in the whole of Europe!

SUSAN - I am really happy that you can cherish this Christmas with your husband - just being able to have him with you is more important than anything. I hope you have a lovely time.

THURSDAY: Today is Time for us Thursday so take some time just doing what you want to do to be good to yourself!

Susan: I'm with you. We can deal with anything as long as we have them, right? I hope he will continue to improve or at the very least stabilize and be able to eat on a regular basis. Jack's heart attack was 3 years ago now, but I still lay and listen to make sure I hear him breathing and if it is quiet, I touch him to make sure he is warm. He is doing fine other than we put on a bunch of lbs together, but I never slack when it comes to checking him all the time. He has learned to live with it and doesn't get irritated at all. He accepts my angst and understands as he would be the same in reverse.

Amanda: Glad you got the shopping done. Buy anything fun for anyone? Do you get to see your family during the holidays, or do they live too far away?

I made the Christmas cut out cookies yesterday so I have to frost and decorate those this afternoon. We have a lot of crap to drag downstairs to take, so I imagine we will do that tonight too. My husband's office closet is FULL of presents and {{{SIGH}}} most of them are for you know who! :lol: I just have such a good time getting things for him. I can't wait for him to see his Harry Potter stuff. I sure hope he likes it.

My sister's oldest dd's baby is due Jan 16, but she is fully effaced and the babie's head is 1+. Those of you younger mom's will know what the heck that all is, but I am pretty clueless as they didn't tell us all that when I had kids. I told her mom yesterday I thought she would have her baby on her dad's birthday, which is Saturday. She has not been feeling well the last couple days and my dsis says she has been having diahrrea, which my sister said she had at the end so I figure it won't be long. (for a big laugh, this is the honest truth, the day before MY SON was born, I felt like cleaning and cleaned like a madman!:lol: ) This is their first baby so I know they are excited. My niece, from my other sister was out there (they live in CA) in Sept and says the babie's room is adorable. It is all done surfer and even has a surfer mural on the wall. They are having a little boy they are naming Luke.

hey all,

Well I weighed myself today and was pleasantly suprised - I've still got TOM, but am only showing a 3lb gain. Believe me I am really pleased about that as I imagined that I had gained about 10!! I'll probably gain a few more over Christmas, but at least I know where I am and can get rid of them pretty quickly in the New Year!

FAYE - Luke is one of my fave boy's names - good choice! Hope all goes well with the delivery. have a great Christmas break and enjoy all your pressies!

I am overeating this holiday, but not on holiday food. I'm so completely stress eating! You know how hard the holidays can be with Certain Families. Well, I'm going to my in-laws for Christmas and my own family is ... being difficult.

And.. the kids aren't sleeping because we are at Julie's house right now and they just want to play play play (at 2 am, 3 am, 4am..) so I haven't slept in a few nights trying to get them to go back to sleep.

:) Julie says "Stop worrying!" and for some reason that makes it worse. sigh. I should just skip Christmas every year. I always dread it coming and am glad to see it go. Ha ha!

Hi everyone!

TOM for me and stress eating all around! Last night Lee and her family left for Canada, so we decided to try out a little "real" Italian restaurant near us. It was soooo good, but sooo rich in wine and butter and cream, etc. Two of the kids just couldn't handle that kind of food--they ended up getting sick rather than digesting it. :( Ben lost it on the way home, and Sarah got up around midnight unable to stand it anymore. Just goes to show you, if you're used to eating healthy, it's not a good idea to shock your system like that! Holidays or not!

We did get a nice 3" blanket of fresh snow, so it's all Christmassy outside. If the kids' tummies are feeling better, I might make cookies today...or I might just nap all day! Everything's pretty much done. I went skating yesterday on new skates, what a weird difference! These are designed for the kind of skating I'm doing, but I'm not used to all the support. My ankles are happy, but I feel really clumsy on them right now cuz I can't bend my ankles forward or back (which is how I balanced on my old skates). I'll get used to them, but it's pretty funny right now. I don't know if I'll ever see the custom ones I ordered before least I didn't put any money down yet.

Everyone have a nice peaceful holiday! I'm ready to just stop eating tummy is just bleh.

I've been to the gym this afternoon to do a kick *** cycle class - I figure that it will raise my metabolism and will help me to burn off some of that extra food I plan on scoffing!

Just a quick peek in as I am bushed. We got home this morning, but since Jack and I together won $2300 at the casino over the weekend, we went on a spending spree today getting stuff we desperately needed for the condo like a new garbage disposal, new electric blanket, new printer that konked out on us, a jazzy new iron and I even got a pretty computer desk that goes wonderfully in my kitchen.

Hope everyone had a super holiday. My grandson was such a hoot. They came down on Sat afternoon to have Christmas with us and I asked him what he had been doing all day before they left to come down. He said, {{{SIGH}}} "Well, I have been cleaning house all day so that tonight Santa doesn't trip in our house!" :lol: My dd told me that in his class they had a discussion about Christmas traditions and when he was ask what his family traditions were he told his class "We go to the casinos." :eek: :lol3:

I need to go and get some laundry folded. Talk to you all in the morning!

TUESDAY: Today is target Tuesday and our target this week is meal planning. It is never a good thing to fly by the seat of your pants with dieting. Take time to make meal plans and you can better stay within your program.

Hi Faye,

Glad you had a good Christmas - wow, that was a big win, good for you! I had a very nice time - lots of yummy food, rubbish TV and pleasant company.

We've got snow here now - 2 days too late for a white Christmas! At the moment it's quite a light covering and I'm hoping it stays that way, but other parts of the country have had several inches. I'm hoping that now I am lighter, I won't fall over so much - although that could just as much depend on good footwear, which I haven't really got! I am hoping to get to the gym tomorrow and work off some of that food!

I am gearing myself up to my new diet effort in the New Year - I feel really good about it as it is not overwhelming like it was last year when I was at my highest weight and lowest fitness. Things are completely different now as I have made such progress over the last year and I am ready to tackle the rest of my weight!

Amanda: I would imagine it will be easier walking for you this season. I know I have a lot of problems because of weight and my darn knee. Glad you had a great Christmas!

I have to go grocery shopping today to try and beat the rush out there for New Year's eve party stuff. As I am sure they have leftover Christmas food on sale, it will probably be a zoo, but I need to get it done today.

I am getting the house back to normal except my computer desk is laying against the living room wall in parts! :lol: Jack can't get to it until the weekend. My linoleum floors are a mess though, but they are going to have to wait until Jack can pull out the dishwasher and check the hose. It is not draining out and we think maybe the hose is clogged. It is always something, isn't it?

Good Morning everyone!

We had a great Christmas, pretty quiet overall. Lee is here with her family for the next several's always nice to have company!

I've been afraid to weigh myself for the past few weeks cuz I've been soooo very bad with my eating! But this morning I figured I'd better find out the damage so I can just start getting myself back to normal. I only gained like 2 pounds!!!! And TOM isn't quite over, I guess keeping up the skating really did help :carrot: I'm so happy, and READY to get the rest of this weight off!!! I'm not skating today because I've got 2 huge blisters on my heels and my butt hurts from falling a couple of times over the past few days...but I'm back to the rink tomorrow. Maybe I"ll take a nice snowy walk today.

Faye, sounds like you're having fun spending all that loot! Congrats!!!!

Amanda--I just want you to be amazingly proud of yourself for all you accomplished last year......I know you can do just as well this year and finally be at the weight you want.

Everyone else--hope you're enjoying the down time!

hey all,

Well I didn't get to the gym today - had to go to the bank and then onto the supermarket and ran out of time - (getting up at 11.30am didn't help much!). Oh well - I'll get there tomorrow!

I bought my nephew's birthday present today as it is his 8th birthday on 1st Jan - I got him a couple of cute t-shirts, one is really good as it says 'will swap sister for video game', which is really apt!

JULIE - A 2lb gain is absolutely fantastic!! It's amazing the difference just keeping up some exercise makes - it keeps your metabolism raised I guess, so you can burn of most off what you are eating. I had gained about 2lb, but I'm still in Christmas eating mode so it may go up further before Jan 1st!! I AM proud of what I've achieved in the last year - it averages out at 1lb per week, but what a difference that has made! I am in such a good place to start a new phase in January. Say hi to Lee-Ann from me!

FAYE - I had the same idea with the grocery shop today too - it was quite busy and they were not fully stocked up , but I'm happy it's done now until after the New Year!

Hi to Carri and Susan - hope you both had a lovely Christmas.

Me again!

I went to the gym today and had the best workout I've had in months! Nigel got me an MP3 player for Christmas and we put some stonkin' techno music on it and I was away! For so long, I have just been listening to the lightweight stuff the gym pumps out of it's speakers - but it made such a difference to have some really hard and upbeat music! I did my full 1hr cardio workout and I just couldn't help but cycle, walk or cross train much faster than I normally do as the music pumped me up so much - this is going to really kickstart my new diet, as soon as I start eating right 100% I know the weight is going to start dropping off!

Good grief, I was so busy from early yesterday morning I didn't even realize I hadn't set up a Thursday post! I am A-OK Amanda.

Amanda: Good for you. I have always found upbeat music to make me work harder. You just WANT to do it that way. I love the tshirt for your nephew, that is so cute!

Julie: 2 lbs is a wash! You will get that back off in no time. Hope the bruised butt is better. We tend to take it better when we are young, don't we? :lol: For some reason, the same aches and pains you would have gotten as a kid, hurt a heck of a lot more as an adult.

I am doing ok, but I have to get a routine started for myself and get a program set up and I need to get all the holiday food gone etc. We have an extra week of "reveling" here then I am putting us back on track. We have family visiting and I won't have a quiet moment until around the 13th versus right after the first of the year so there is no way I am going to do something then feel bad for it, you know? I am going to get started on the treadmill again though even with everything going on. That will help build me up again and get me jump started at least.

Hello, ladies! Glad to see some of us are here this week. I had Wednesday and Thursday off so got some things done at home. My dh is not improving but he's also not getting worse so that is a blessing. We go to the doctor again on Thursday and hopefully they will have some course of treatment worked out or at least a way to keep him more comfortable.

Faye, there is always something that needs done. When I was moping the guest bathroom I decided the linoleum has reached the point it really needs to be replaced. It's a really small floor and we don't have much extra money so I'm going to do it myself with some advice from Home Depot.

I'm geared up to go back to healthy eating on January 1. Have cleared the junk out of the house.

I had to take back a pair of jeans I got for Christmas. I had a pair with holes near the pockets that I just kept wearing around the house. My dh got our friend to go to Wal*Mart and get me a new pair. He told me, very proudly, that he had found the jeans in my closet and got the same size - 18W. Well the new jeans were way too big. I ended up with a 14M after trying on 5 pair. So I can't have gained too much because I've been wearing 14 pants for months.

Hope you all have a Happy New Year...and not too much indulgence on New Year's Eve.

Good morning ladies. It cooled off here last night but it is still pretty warm for this time of year. Jack is doing an extra snooze upstairs, but I am going to work him with a honey do list some today. It rained yesterday so the leaf blowing is out until next week and I plan on doing it myself anyway as he tends to be kind of haphazard about it and I want them all gone not just the top layer!

Susan: If you buy the peel and stick kind of tile, it doesn't cost that much. I wish we lived closer, we have a whole stack we could just give you as we bought them to do our bathroom and our entranceway and decided we wanted to ceramic tile it instead and just way until next year when we have the money. I would say around the toilet is only the big issue, but the guys at Home Depot can help with telling you how as can Lowes. They are usually pretty helpful if they know what they are doing. Hope your dh health picks up this next year.

We are just going to hang out at home tonight and maybe watch a movie or two. I am just too nervous about these drivers to be on the road. Maybe I can plan next year and we can go down to the casinos for New Year's Eve. They have big parties down there and we could just stay overnight in a hotel. Who knows?

Looks like Suzanne is still have trouble with folks not following the rules here with regards to links. I understand people doing it by accident, being new and not knowing, but there is always someone that has to break the rules and this site is free and costs them a bundle so we should appreciate it more.

Well, chores wait for no man! :lol:

Hope everyone have a fun evening if they went out last night. We stayed in, made pina coladas and Jack watched UGH, basketball. I ended up going to bed early and was sick all night. I am still cramping feeling so don't know what is with that. Probably something I ate.

Hi All,

:newyear: HAPPY NEW YEAR FRIENDS!! :newyear:

Well I have assessed the damage and I am back up to 217lb - a 3lb gain. I am pretty pleased with that as I know I can lose that in a week if I work hard. I am glad that all the festivities are over and I can really get on with losing this excess weight! I basically started yesterday - not 100% disciplined, but made a conscious effort to have porridge in the morning which I haven't had for weeks. Today is going to be my first day of journally my food in weeks!

The gym has also started a new programme of classes and I have decided to start doing 3 cycle classes a week - up from my usual 2. That should get the weight shifting!

I have slacked off with my dieting since October - and I have basically maintained my weight since then. I am now in the right place to really address my eating and become much more disciplined - I feel excited at the prospect of losing more weight and looking better with each pound gone!

MONDAY: Today is Mission Monday and our mission this week is to work this week and develop a 2006 program and goals. Let's get to work hard this year and all of you be at goal by Christmas this year!

Good morning everyone. I don't have much time this morning. I expect to have service people swarming anytime. I have two warranty calls in to work on my dishwasher and my furnace AND we are still working on all the honey dos and I haven't gotten daily chores finished yet. Whew. feel like I should go back to bed already! :)

Amanda: I want to see you at your goal this year kiddo. I know with your new found strength you can do it.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Things are slowly getting back to normal. I skated today, and then went shopping for lots of fruits and veggies. Gonna make some cabbage soup tonight. I'm definitely feeling hungrier due to all the sugar I ate over the last 2 weeks, so I"m trying to satisfy the hunger with salads and veggies. Someone introduced me to pickled garlic cloves, which I just adore! They are spicy and vinegary, but don't taste much at all like garlic. I can eat one or two of those when I'm "peckish" and they satisfy me. There can't be many calories in a garlic clove, right? They are soaked in olive oil, but I don't think it's too bad.

Anyway, I realised this morning that we are all ahead of the rest of the dieting world because for us the new year means going back to our regular way of eating. The sugar and snacks and extra fat was not the norm, it was the splurge. Which means that we have all made healthy eating a regular way of life! Woo hoo for us!! :carrot: The rest of the people who decided they were going to "diet starting Jan 2" all have to go through the long hard process of changing their habits to something *new*. Maybe I'm weird, but it makes me feel better to think of it that way.

Okay, I'm gonna go take a nap!

TUESDAY: Today is Target Tuesday and our target this week is SUGAR! We have probably all overloaded so let's gradually remove all the built up sugar in our bodies this week.

Julie: I have never heard of nor seen pickled garlic. Garlic is great for you so eat away!

We found out yesterday the whole furnace has to be replaced so I have to call the HVAC company back today and have them replace it I guess. I have never had anything expense be replaced before, just repairs done (with regard to our home warranty, I mean.) He said to call the heating company this morning so that is what we will do. They did send someone out to fix our dishwasher, which was not hard. A glass got broke about a year ago and somehow the pieces just got all in there the wrong way and blocked up the hose and he just had to clean it out. I am glad as the unit is only 3 years old!

We have also accomplished all but 2 things on our honey do list so that is great. I just have to get out and blow all the leftover fall leaves off the deck and out the walkway so the landscaping company can pick them up and then we have to haul all the stuff to the goodwill that has been sitting in our garage.

I better get to my chores kiddos as I have to call the heating company at 8 AM and don't know when they will be here then.

Well, we're home again. I popped up to 161 but then dropped to 157 so I am pretty happy with it overall.

This season's had its ups and downs and now I'm thinking about reasons for doing the things I do like my hobbies and my dieting. I do too much because I think I have to instead of doing things because it's fun.

So my New Year's resolution is to stop doing things that I don't have to and go back to just having fun. So I'm going to try some yoga and continue jogging and maybe get back into painting again. You know, take a break from everything and laugh and play and just hang out with my hubby and my friends like we used to when we were younger.

My weight is the same today - but I guess it will take more than 1 day of being OP for the weight to shift!

FAYE - Sorry your furnace is bust - they always go in Winter don't they? Mine usually goes at Christmas leaving with no hot water or heat while the landlord is away! Thankfully this year has been fine!

JULIE - I used to like pickled onions - but pickled in vinegar, not olive oil. One teaspoon of olive oil is about 50 cals, so don't eat the whole jar!

LEE-ANN - I have the same new year resolution as you - to have more fun! Mine is in relation to being more sociable and going out more - I'm sick of hiding myself away!

Hi All ! Okay so I finally got on the scales this morning and it is soooooooooo
much worse than I thought, so much so that I am embarrassed to actually say what it is. :( But as I cried in the bathroom I realize that there is nothing I can do about it but move forward and get it all off this year.

I started back again this morning and am waiting for my headache that I normally get from going back OP after a long time of eating what I want, I have the advil ready. :D

Amanda - I know you are going to get the rest of the weight off this year, good job on not gaining too much over the holidays.

Faye - Sorry to hear about your furnace, I guess the good thing is that it has been mild outside so you didn't really need it a whole lot lately, I couldnt believe that it reached over 60 degrees here yesterday, so odd ...

Leann - Good job on not gaining much ... you are going to easily get to goal soon!

Julie - I also went shopping this weekend for all kinds of fruits and veggies, the fruits I have always liked but I do not do veggies very well, so I am trying to push myself to eat them this year.

Carri: NO CRYING! It just happens and you have the strength and fortitiude to get it back off so go for it girl! I KNOW this is YOUR year to get to goal. I am just waiting for it to happen.

It is nice to see points again.

We are now waiting to hear from either the home warranty or the Hvac place about our furnace. I read and reread my home warranty and it looks like they will HAVE to replace it and I see them canceling us afterwards! I hope not, as this company is a lot better than the last one we had.

We now only have one and a half (I added something) jobs on the honey do and that is take all the stuff to Goodwill. The other 1/2 is get the garage cleaned up and put in some kind of shelving so we have storage for paint supplies etc. It is the one thing that is crummy here and that is storage space. I guess it just comes with having a condo instead of a house, though we looked at a house before we bought this that we loved and didn't put in an offer because ALL the closets were only about a foot deep like a coat closet. You wonder why people build stuff without places to put things!

Everyone have a super day. I need to get back to knitting and get the baby blanket finished so think I will do that until it gets a little later and I can mop the downstairs.

Hi all,

I had another 4 point day yesterday - but I overdid it at the gym and my hip is really hurting today so I've had a day off . My hip is a recurring problem - I've mentioned it to the doctor and she said it sounds like it is muscular - she said I could do with some physio/massage, but I can't really afford either, so it's hot baths for me!

CARRI - Don't be down hon, we've all gained and are making fresh starts - the good thing is you know exactly what to do to lose the weight you've gained and it won't be long before you are back in Onederland, and staying there! I've found it hard to get back OP foodwise - I am feeling hungry most of the time and am craving chocolate big time! The first week is the hardest - then we will get in the swing of it and the weight loss will follow!

FAYE - Cleaning out the garage and putting up shelving doesn't sound like half a job - it sounds like a big job to me! But then knowing you, I bet your garage is already pristine clean!

THURSDAY: Today is Time for Us Thursday. Take an hour or so today and do something just for you!

Amanda: With your hip, does the pain just stick with you or does it have a sense that if you could only move it the right way the pain would go away? If so, you might have bursitis in the hip, joint vs muscle problem. It is different than muscular pain as it feels like someone is hitting your hip with a hammer and you have a sensation that if you could just move it the right way it would stop hurting. You are kind of young for bursitis, but my husband developed it in his 30's from walking on steel decks of aircraft carriers. His flares up now and again. More than likely yours is just plain ole muscle over exertion. Best thing for that is hot baths, hot cloths, heating pads, or over the counter creams or patches that heat up the skin and a little ibuprophen or aspirin will help with inflammation.

We got part of the stuff to Goodwill. I would have had it all there by now, but lazy takes one load a day so it will take us probably another 2 days to get it all there. Men are such lazy people.

Poor Jack has been working with a golf ball rolling it under his foot to help his heel spurs and you can see it causes him agony to do it. He wants his foot to get better so he can get on the treadmill. He says he only has 2 pair of jeans that fit! Boy, have we all been there or what? I told him yesterday that next week when family are all gone and whatnot, we will sit down together and plan on menus and such to get back on a program together. He needs to lose about 40-50 lbs and I am so far back into the woods you can't see men! :lol: I just take it with a grain of salt though as I know all I need to lose weight is to start!

Morning ladies,
I had a terrible day with food yesterday...just kept grazing and grazing all day long. And found a leftover stash of candy canes just sitting around. But I started dance classes up again, so I had 2.5 hours of moving around. That helps. I'll be skating again today, though my hip is a bit sore from dance.

Well, it's time to get the kids off to school, so I'll be back to chat later.

Happy New Year ladies. I got back on program the 1st weighing 165.5. My goal is to get down 10% by Labor Day...very doeable. Sunday will be my weigh in day so I'll report to you on Monday. To tell the truth, I'm glad to get back on Weight Watchers and eat properly. I'm meeting with the dietician today to discuss my husband's diet - which will be the opposite of mine, more than likely, since he needs to gain.

Monday I had to have my husband taken back to the hospital. He has improved slightly but it's getting more difficult to care for him so the doctor is going to arrange for pallitive care so I can have help with him at home. He wants to stay at home and I'm going to do my darndest to be sure he does.

So my New Year is not off to a very good start.

Wow Lots of hip problems seem to be going around. I hope it doesn't catch. Ha ha! Seriously, take care of yourselves.

Hubby went to the doc to check up on his chronic tennis elbow (best description i can give). They took his blood and mixed it with some hormone and injected it into his elbow. Ewww! And they told him to wear a brace for at least three weeks and to continue physical therapy for a while.

He's a bit unhappy about the whole thing since he thought he was going to be back into martial arts again next week. I'm taking a break from martial arts, too. I had a massive wake up call when Amelia saw some of the bruises and started crying because "mommy hurt."

I actually feel a HUGE weight lifted off of my shoulders since it set into my head that I don't HAVE TO do anything. I'm starting to look forward to doing things instead of dreading them. I can't wait to get on my treadmill and run!

I feel so great! Like my whole life is starting over and I can do or not do anything I want! :carrot: :hug: :carrot:

I love weight watchers. I could go on for days about how great I think they are. Ha ha!

I'm very sorry to hear about your hubby, though. Sounds like it's not going too well. I wish I could say something to help. :( All I can think to say is that I care. Good luck. Hopefully there'll be some good news soon.

Afternoon Girls - well this is my fourth day OP !!! :carrot: :jig: :cb: So I feel like since I have those few days under my belt that maybe I can get somewhere for a while ... I am not going to weigh myself for a few weeks, I just can't bare it anymore... I want to get a few pounds off before I see that awful number again. I am going back to the gym next week, with going back OP I have had quite a few bad headaches and have really just went home after work and crashed, but I know that once all the bad things ( caffiene, sugar, high fat ) get out of my system I will feel better and be stronger.

Faye - I know you can get back OP and with Jack doing the same thing you can help eachother. You do so well when you are on !! Sorry to hear Jacks foot is still bothering him, hope it gets better soon.

Julie - Girl you better stop eating and grazing cause you and I ( and Amanda ) are supposed to be in Onederland for good this year !!! :D

Amanda - Thanks for the encouraging words, I am really trying, the nighttime is the worst, I have been really hungry then, but basically just go to bed so I wont eat, ha ha

Susan - Sorry to hear that dh is not getting as well as you had hoped, hang in there, we are all thinking of you both.

Leann - Boy are you excited ( or motivated ) - good for you, hopefully it will rub off on all of us !!!

FRIDAY: Fabulous lbs down and points add up Friday. Thought on the off weigh in weeks you might like to add up your pts for the week to see where you stand. A perfect 7 days would be 28 pts. It is time to get back to our pts girls and get a move on with our programs.

I woke up to go to the bathroom then started sneezing and after I blew my nose, then started coughing and couldn't stop so I just came downstairs for awhile and hopefully can go back up to bed in a few minutes and go back to sleep. I always feel like a cat with a hairball when I start coughing like that! I suspect it is similar considering I think the cat is what the sneezing and coughing is about anyway.

Lee: We should all feel no pressure when it comes to losing weight. When we put that kind of pressure on ourselves we fall apart or give up when we aren't "perfect." We all have to get that this is just a change in our lives, like menopause...:D not some horrible restriction to our lives.

Carri: I think you are smart not to weigh for awhile. You can then have it be stress free when you do weigh.

One more small load and we are done with all the Goodwill stuff. I will then be able to get my garage in order once and for all. I am such a neat freak that the mess out there drove me nuts. I knew I couldn't get it done all by myself though. The landscapers came yesterday and sucked up all my leaves so my walkway is now all nice and clean too, which is nice. We couldn't bag stuff up because I didn't have any bags and I knew the landscapers had to be coming soon as they come about every other week and I hadn't seen or heard them since before Christmas.

We had Chinese buffet for lunch yesterday as a treat (it is right across the street from the Goodwill center how convenient...:^: ) and our two fortunes were, a financial investment will yield returns beyond your hopes and the other one was luck is coming your way. I told Jack to play the powerball on Sat with the two sets of #'s on the fortunes as they surely had to be lucky! :lol:

We got the good and bad news on the furnace. The home warranty company called yesterday and said they were authorizing the replacement :) , but there were charges not covered and he started telling us all the things not covered, ductwork, drainwork, permit stuff and on and on until it racked up to $650, which was the :( part. But....all things considered, that is much much better than 3-5 thousand $$, which is what it will cost more than likely. They are coming a week from today to install it. I imagine we are going to have to take down all the pictures up the stairs, all the stuff in the entranceway etc so they can get the new one up the stairs and the old one down. Hope it all fits some way or another. I imagine my house is going to be in an uproar the whole day. I may make an appt for Fortune to go to the groomers that day. Poor B is going to have to be trapped in the spare room the whole time because he tries to go up into the attic when we pull down the steps.

Well ladies, I am going to try and go back to bed and hopefully won't start coughing again. Ummm, the nice warm electric blanket. Sounds wonderful!

Okay, so I'm obsessing. Whenever I "start" a diet...or really anything, I obsess like crazy and with food, I just end up eating more rather than less. So, I'm going to try and just chill out. I got 1 point yesterday for exercise. Bleh.

Lee--Glad you're feeling better. You have to figure out "why" you fight...I had to too. Hope Dave feels better soon.

Faye--bummer about the furnace. If I know you, you'll be following after the workmen all day with a broom and dustpan! :lol:

Carrie--Congrats on being op for so long. I haven't gotten there yet, but I will.

Susan--All I can say is I wish you peace. I can't imagine what your life must be like right now.

Well the kids are screaming at each other...better go break it up!

Hi all,

I'm still doing well - only 1 point on Weds because I ate a rather big lunch and had to rest from the gym, but back on track with 4 points yesterday! I completed my 3rd cycle class of the week today, so I feel very proud of myself! Two of the classes are on consequetive days (Thurs and Fri), and I was worried I would find it hard today, but in fact I found I had even more energy! I've realised that by the end of the class I am pooped, but my fitness is such that I recover almost immediately and feel great afterwards!

I was a bit disappointed to find I'd not lost any weight yet - but then I realised that I only started on Mon, and went off track on Weds, so it's actually only been 3 days!

FAYE - Thanks for the advice about the hip. I'm pretty sure it's just muscular - I spoke to the physio at the gym and she said it could be that the muscles had shortened which makes sense because I always feel like I can't stretch it out enough. Anyway, a hot bath made it feel alot better. I agree with Carri - if you and Jack work together on losing weight, you'll definately get there - you two make a great team!

JULIE - I think having a more relaxed attitude will help you. I am terrible for grazing and I did alot of it over Christmas, so it's been hard to give up. There are diets around that encourage you to have 6-8 small meals instead of 3 main meals - so maybe that might suit you.

SUSAN - I agree it feels good to be able to get back on with the business of losing weight! Hope you can get all the help you need for your dh, it must be hard for you as you have to wok aswell don't you?

CARRI - 4 days OP - good for you! As soon as you get back to the gym you will start to see big losses! It may take a week or so again before the losses show - that seems to be my case anyway!

LEE-ANN - You sound so positive - and that is soooooooooo important in this weight loss game! When you find some form of diet and exercise that you actually look forward to doing then you have your weight problem licked! It's taken me my whole adult life to find out that I actually LOVE exercise and hence it has taken me my whole life to finally get to shedding this weight!
