I was just wondering, for those of you who own the LAWL cookbook, do you think it is worth it to buy the LAWL cookbook? I was thinking about buying it, but want to know if the recipies are good. I am mainly looking for dinner and dessert recipies. Thanks. :)

I'm with deeta (Includign the coping and resaleling...but I copied the whole book in case my tastes change in the future  )

I think that I like making my own stuff up more, but check the recipe thread here and ask away, we might eb able to help some.

If your center has the 10 visit coupon thing going on, get one that way. (then make copies and sell it on e-bay  )

Thanks for the advice, I think that I will stick to searching the threads for recipies and trying to adapt WW recipies to my plan, something that I still need to practise!

just keep playing wiht the recipes. You will find you can easily substitute things once you get the hang of it. Plus i have found that fat suggested for most recipes is not necessary.

I've finally decided to go ahead and cook from the cookbook. The two I have tried so far have been quite good. I'm planning on cooking one tonight. If you want the recipes that I have tried and even a picture of the meal, let me know.

As for the deserts--the recipes all look yucky!

Hi, I'm new here and I've only been in LAWL for four weeks now. I've been following the postings since I discovered this site about two weeks ago and I can't put off joining in any longer.

The center I attend showed me a new cookbook that will be coming out after the first of the year. They even let me take it home. The new one has greatly improved over the previous one. They added a lot of new recipes with a few of the old ones. There's also recipes that are for more than one serving. They even added in more deserts, some that I would even consider REAL deserts!

So if anyone is thinking about buying the current book, I would recommend waiting until the new one comes out. The center didn't know how much it will cost, but they thought it would be similar to the other one which is $28.

I agree...the new cookbook that will debut in 2006 is absolutely wonderful! If you haven't purchased one yet, I would suggest waiting for the new one!

I just joined LAWL two weeks ago and just found this site, I'm so glad I did for I have been trying to get one of those cookbooks but my center has been out of them. Now I know to just wait for the new one. That explains why they have been out of them for two weeks now.

What is the Monthly thread?

Hi Laurie and Welcome!

The monthly thread is called 'LAWL Losers and Friends, is usually close to the top of the forum page, and has the current month in the title.

I didn't realize you had to pay for the cookbook. At the Canadian Centres (well mine anyways in Ottawa) I got it free after the first week. I can't wait to see the new one. I wasn't overly impressed with the one I got.

Hi, I'm new hear. I started LAWL on December 28, 2005, so far everything is going good. In regards to the new LAWL cookbook does anyone know when it comes out. I just bought the old one today and the manager/counselor said nothing about a new cookbook. :( I wonder if they would exchange it.

Bogieboo- once you leave the center with something, its no-backs:( There is a lot of mixed reports about the cookbooks...my center says nothing is new, others here have gotten a new one..others report that they wont be out for months...very odd.

I spoke with the manager/counselor at my LAWL and she said that the cookbook I got is the new one. It is spiral bound now, not in a 3 ring binder like before. She said what I was talking about is what is going to be available online in the future. I asked about the brownie and oatmeal cookie receipe she said these would be available online. We shall see.

I just bought mine today and am happy with it. I wanted more choices, since I'm not much of a cook. I had wondered about why I didn't see the brownie and oatmeal cookie recipe in the book and thanks to bogieboo you explained why.

We just discontinued sales of the old cookbook in my Center on yesterday. At my last meeting, I was told to expect the new one in mid-late February, depending on your Center's market. It's worth the wait, though!

Why do some centers say there is no "new" book except for it being spiral bound? Just wondering, I do not think it would be fair if I asked for the "new" cookbook and then they have the actual new cookbook come out in a couple of months and then I would have to fork over some more money if I wanted it.

My center is claiming to sell the NEW cookbook, its just the spiral bound one with the same ol' stuff.....what is the real deal?! Why does one person here actually have a new book and everyone else is getting a BS story?

I just called the 1-800 number for LAWL and the rep said that she does not know of a new cookbook. She said she was going to do some research and would get back to me. I'll let everyone know when she does.

I asked my center more about that yesterday and why in my book it says
2002. The supervisor stated they could have just used the same page, but that it was a new cook book with some new recipes. Since I never seen the old cookbook I have nothing to compare it with.

Bogieboo it will be good to hear what they have to say.

Okay - I just called my COD and the director of the center told me she will be attending a management meeting next Tuesday and will be finding out exactly when the new cookbook will be going on sale. She hopes it will be available by the end of this month. That's all I know at this time, but can say it does exist. I have seen it and I have copied recipes from it. If anyone else would like to call her and ask her about it, I can give you her name and the center’s number. I’m sure her center would love the extra sales!!!

I find that very strange that the rep at the 1-800 number didnt know anything about it. I would say that it probably depends on if your center is corporate or is it is a franchise and in what market your in. We went through the same thing last year when they came out with the new Free To Live Program and several of the other areas got the new programs before we did here in TN. My center is a franchise and the manager already has a copy of the new cookbook and we are able to look at it but they have no clue as to when it will be coming out all she keeps saying is after the first of the year ( i havent asked in a few weeks). So if everyone will just wait a little longer im sure the new cookbook will start rolling out soon. By the way the new cookbook is Paperback (not spiral or binder) it is also very colorful and has a ton of stuff in it will be a great book hope it is not over $30.00

Well when ever they decide to sell the next new book, since they say we have the new one, then hopefully it won't be as much as this one was.
