Hi! I'm new to 3FC, anyway, I started ww in January of 2005 (new years resolution:carrot: I started at 204 and I'm down to 166. I want to get down to 150. So, I've been really cold lately. So cold that I almost come to tears when I go outside, even with a jacket, gloves on. When I say I'm cold my family, friends, say that I'm overeacting or that it's really not that cold. But my hands and nose are ALWAYS icy cold and the heater in my house is on 70 and I have a sweatshirt, sweat pants!! My husband and daughter are sweating..lol I just don't know what it could be? I have a drs. appt on the 19th of dec. but I'm a little worried. My sister in law says maybe it's cuz I don't have as much fat, but I used to be a 150 and I LOVED the winter!!! Now, I'm contemplating leaving to Fla. until april..any ideas on what it could be?? my sister says anemia?? idk, any help wpuld make me feel better..thanx

My DH and I both lost a lot of weight over this past year, and we both used to always complain about being hot, and kept our house at 67 degrees to be comfortable. Now, we both always feel cold, too! We really bundle up when we go outside now, and we have turned up our thermostat.

Losing weight by itself can make you feel cold. I'd guess that's all it is. Your body doesn't have the insulation it used to. It's a very common reaction.
Some people report adjusting after a while. Personally, I was cold blooded before I lost weight, I'm even quicker to be chilled now, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Pile on those layers! :)

Quick, I feel your pain...I am about frostbit everyday. Have your dr check your thyroid function...that can make you feel COLD, especially your hands/feet.

Thats what I was going to suggest, your throid. Before I had my checked I was freezing all the time. MY nose ,feet.. even at night,My fingers it was horria ble. Are you tired alot? Moody? There is so much that goes on with your thyroid. I would not worry though you have an appointment soon.Hang in there.

Actually, yes I am tired all the time. I've been going to bed around 9pm, and having a hard time waking at 9am. And by 5pm I'm tired again. I fall asleep in the car all the time. My husband did ask me what was wrong? Hmm, I will definately mention this to my dr. Thanx

Oh my gosh that was so me no matter what time I went to bed I COULD not get up .I t took everything I had. And again the tip of my nos ewas so cold. If yoiur doc will not test you go to another doc. You can go on line to just type in hypo thyroid andit will give you characteristics of it. Do you have achy joints, like carpel tunnel ot tendinitis, anyway mention all this at your visit.

typical signs of hypothyroidism are:
exhaustion, yet cant fall asleep easy
forgetfulness
weightgain
fatigue
constipation
menstration problems
infertility
irritability
feeling cold when others are ok with temp
I know there are more, but those are the MAIN ones...good luck
