Aunt Flo is visiting with a vengeance today. She showed up yesterday and I've been miserable. I couldn't motivate myself to exercise yesterday either, I've been trying to do so today but instead I'm curled up under the comforter on the laptop while the girls play in the next room.

12-06-2005, 04:33 PM
Nice to find you guys. My son is almost 8 months old (where does the time go?)
I have at the moment, 100 to lose. Not sure how things will go because insurance is an issue right now and I dont have any of my script left (for my sugars, I'm not a diabetic).
Well, I better go. The baby is asleep which means its the house's turn for attention...

12-06-2005, 07:22 PM
FLO is here too..and I hate every minute of it. I'm sure my family does too. God knows, I'm not the easiest person to live with.

I left a post on the Slimmin Sahmies first site so if anyone wants to go back and skim through it, please do. I have a little problem with my children I am willing to take any advice that anyone can give me.

So - we are moved!! COOL! New start for us all..

Alisha - Doin' great! How's your neck of the woods? I'm gonna lose this week!!!! I can feel it!

Cindy - Hey there! Hope all is well.

Ashley - It's ok. You will get there. Welcome - we are so happy that you are here! Lean on us!

Chris - Be consistant, that's the only advice I have. If they know you'll cave, you're a gonner!!!

Julie - Hope you have a great day.

I am tired tonight. But I am working out!! I'll check in later!

Oh - I am 5'1 - REALLY short!!!!!

12-07-2005, 01:17 AM
OOHHHHH! Height check!

I'm 5 ft 8 in.

I've been typing out my notes for my Business final and another exam. My wrist is sore and I think I'm just going to drag myself to bed and sleep the rest of the night off and hope tomorrow goes better than it did today. I was sooo stressed out by life and my little children, that I binged BIG TIME! Tomorrow is a new day and I'm starting right back up. I'm going to keep trying until I get this weight loss thing right.

I'm trying to be consistent with my kiddos but it is easier said than done. I know when I get super frustrated I should just walk away and take 10. I'm worse then a kid in some ways. I'll try harder tomorrow. I got my prescriptions all refilled today so maybe it will help too if I get all my little pills down my throat daily. I did go to my rheumatologist today and now I'm being referred to a podiatrist too. Something is aching in my foot and its not my arthritis. Darn it! It really really is hard to get older. Next it will be bi-focal glasses and support hose.

12-07-2005, 11:40 AM
Good morning all! I like our new digs, very spiffy!

Julie: I've never heard the term Aunt Flo, that's hilarious! I usually just say "my monthly friend", not very original. Ha, I'll have to remember that! Anyway, hope you are feeling better.

Chris: I wish I had advice for you, but my little guy is younger than yours, he's a boy not a girl, and he's only one child. So there is no experience for me to draw on to give you advice! But I understand how frustrated you must be with your hubby's responses. He probably just doesn't know what exactly to tell you. Maybe you could sit down with him one night and tell him, point blank, you're out of ideas and you wondered if he might have any suggestions at all. The two of you could brainstorm ideas and maybe come up with something to try. Good luck, keep us posted.

Carafre, you exercisin' fool! Way to go!

Ashley: Welcome to our little thread! Congrats on the weight loss so far, you're doing awesome! What sort of plan (if any) are you following? Keep it up, and keep checking in with us! We're great motivators, and I'll bet you're a great motivator too since you've already lost so much.

Amanda: Haven't seen you in a couple days. How's Christian doing? I'm sure he's just overly excited about the holidays. After the new year, things should settle down for him. How are you doing?

As for me, I'm hanging in there. I'll be going to TN on Saturday for the last time. Our movers are coming next Thursday and we'll come back here with the felines until our house closes a few days later. I just want it to be over!

Talk to you later!

12-07-2005, 11:42 AM
So, does anyone have any fun holiday plans? Such as travelling, throwing a party, etc. I love to hear what other people do during Christmas, or Hannakuh, or Yule, or whatever you celebrate.

Since we'll be in a new house this year, we're going to start a new tradition. We were thinking of getting a living tree, but we looked at them the other day and they were a little small. So I think we'll get a small one and instead of decorating it in the house we'll just go straight to planting it outside and decorate it for the birds and squirrels (popcorn, nuts, berries). Then each year we'll do the same thing. We've got a lot of woods on our property, so a new tree every year won't look out of place.

What are you and your family doing?

12-07-2005, 01:28 PM
Cynthia-New house? That is awesome. We've only been in ours for 2 yrs now. It's not new but its big and that's what counts when you got little people running all over the place. :D :D Is this your first house?

Okay ladies. I feel a bit better about today. I got some sleep and Nicole is acting a ton better today. THank God! I have another headache and am dizzy again. My head is all stuffed up and my sinuses ache but I'm trying not to take any sinus meds until tonight, or I'll be snoozing on the couch and Nicole will be a queen for the day doing whateve she wanted. (psst...not a good plan).

Christmas traditions? My world is full of chaos for the holidays. I have my dad to visit, my family, and my husband's family. IT's hard to get everyone crammed in so that they don't get their feelings hurt but it is soo hard each year. Christmas Eve, we spend at my Dad's house. Christmas Day is the hustle time. My family always wants to see my oldest daughter early, but this year I'm not rushing myself. I'm going to take care of my family at home, then get my oldest daughter to her dad's house for the rest of the day. After we drop her off, we're going to eat dinner with my husband's family. Well, we'll probably have to go get his sister. She just had major foot surgery (she's diabetic and had part of her foot removed). Later in the evening, we can visit my family. I do get an extra task this year. I also am taking my brother and SIL to the airport on Christmas so they can fly down to Arizona to be with my SIL's family.

I wish I had a tradition to pass down to my kids, but the closet we come is that I buy my girls and my husband a new ornament each year for Christmas. My grandma did it for us when we were growing up and by the time we all left the house, we had ornaments for our own Christmas Tree.

12-07-2005, 05:45 PM
Good Afternoon Ladies! How is everyone doing? Good? Well i am happy to say that i completed day one on my couch to 5k journey. And it was kinda hard...mostly just get back into running, its been so long. But i did it, plus i did Taebo :carrot:

Cara: Not much here just trying to get back on track.....its been hard though...i have wanted to break my diet so much since i have started but i just sticked to it......and hopefully i will continue, that way i can make my goal by New Years Day!

Cynthia: Have fun with your new house! I am so happy for you and your family!! I personally don't have any holiday plans....actually i am celebrating Christmas on the day after Christmas because see my son Cameron is biologically not mine :( so he is going to his "real" mothers house and we will get him back late Christmas Day...and we really want to see there faces when they walk into the room and see all the presents. Its really hard during the holidays. But i guess there is nothing we can do...oh well atleast he is still young, and he still believes in Santa so we willl just tell him that Santa is coming to our house on Sunday night.....hopefully it works......

Chris: I totally no what you are going little boy is 3 years old....and i am having such a hard time with him listening to me, sometimes i debate calling Nanny 911. Its so hard being consistant........just stick with it....TRUST me i know its hard.......

Julie: Don't stress not working out, you can take a day off or two i don't think it will hurt.....don't give up.

Ashley: :welcome3: to our Group. I really hope you find the support you are looking for here, and i think you will, these ladies are a GREAT bunch of supporters!! Good luck with your goals, and congrats on the wieght lost so far!! :carrot:

Well ladies i am going to jump off here i will chat with you all later! Have a great night!!

12-07-2005, 07:59 PM
I'm feeling much better, too bad I can't stay away from salt. I'm so swollen today.

Alisha, congrats on starting C25K I'm going to repeat a Week 2 day before I try to move on to Week 3. :D

Chris, glad you are feeling better. My sinuses always bug this time of year. Have you tried tylenol sinus non-drowsy?

Cynthia, We go to my parents house for Christmas breakfast and gift opening. We let the grandparents spoil the girls, and we don't buy much because they have too much already lol.

12-07-2005, 08:19 PM
Julie-I do use Tylenol allergy-sinus. Amazingly enough, I get drowsy on that too. I'm like my mom-Very senstive to medicines. I could take a child's dose and still wanna sleep. I'm kind of wondering if I have a sinus infection. My head hurts all in the front. The back feels fine but my cheeks, eyes, nose and upper teeth are just hurting. I so want to take a pill but my darling man called and he won't be home for a couple hours. Sears is so nice  ...he got 4 service calls yesterday, and 17 today. Plus he has 3 service calls to do this evening after her gets home from his regular work.

ALisha-I've often thought about the Nanny too. I bet the woman would be horrified! Do you ever wonder if the kids actually remain better after the show is done or do you think they turn back to their usual selves????

I'll have to download some pics of my babies so you can see my girls. They all have such different personalities. You can tell by looking at em.

Back to the homework. I've done some accounting, and alot of my Computer class homework. Next in line for the evening-Typing up some business notes for my tests and then I think I'll end my long evening with my Accounting test. Wooooo!! After that, I'll throw myself face first into my pillow and no one will hear a peep outta me til morning. Tomorrow is my day to work. I'll be stuck in the printing room making labels for my dad.

12-07-2005, 10:54 PM
Chris - You are so busy!! Do you ever get "you" time? I do at bedtime!!

Alisha - GO GIRL!!!:carrot: :carrot: :carrot: ;) You are crazy!!

Cindy - Well, on Christmas Eve we will make cookies for Santa! I will let the kids open one small present. We will watch Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer & then put the kiddies to bed so we can assemble a few presents! Oh - I forgot... the one tradition I will carry on is telling Santa to leave a letter for the kids talking about the special things they've done so well!! I always got a letter from Santa on Christmas telling me a few things that were nice to hear... " you were so nice to help your mother clean, how wonderful it is to make your own bed - along those lines!!! Anyway - those are things that I want special memories of!!!

12-07-2005, 11:00 PM
Carafre-Maybe that's what I should do is write a letter to my kids. Maybe that would encourage them to do more and be more helpful. In answer to your questions...Naw, I don't get much "Me" time in at all. That's probably why I'm so stressed all the time. I'm trying to get all my stuff done for school. The semester ends on the 14th. After that I'll have a little free time for about a month. Then its back to the races.

I'm going now. I've been doing homework all day and my wrist feels like its going to fall off. Need to rest the little typing fingers a tad I guess. See you gals in the morning.

12-08-2005, 12:11 AM
Good Evening Gals! Just wanted to check back in real quick.....

Chris: Honestly i think all the time about if the kids on those shows stay the same? I don't know....sometimes the REALLY bad ones i find it hard to believe that they turned around that know?

Cara: Crazy....who me?? :joker:

Julie: Good luck with getting back to the Couchto5k!!

Well ladies i am going to jump off here...have a great night, i will talk with you all tomorrow!!

12-08-2005, 08:40 AM
Hi everyone, Sorry I've been MIA. I have been so busy working on the house and trying to work on wrapping some Christmas gifts. I have barely had time to think this week, LOL. It looks like we are in for some nasty weather tonight, freezing rain. I really wish my DH didnt have to work tonight, I'll be worried sick until he gets back home.

Cindy: Christian has had a really good week so far. He's been doing pretty good since I explained to him that if he doesnt do his school work and such that he will have to go to school that much longer, LOL.

I'll try to write more later, I have to get ready & drive Christian to school.

12-08-2005, 09:25 AM
Chris - The letter sounds like a good idea for ya'll! I hope you get some time alone to relax!!

Hi to all! I am sick, AGAIN!!  It's only a chest cold but yuck!!! My little germ carriers are feeling just fine!! Talon had his 15 mon. check up, FOUR SHOTS!!:( But he seems a little better today. I have more shopping to do today.

I have an idea - I was wondering if maybe anyone thinks it might be fun to all do the same exercise video? Maybe we could take turns and if you have a video the others could rent or buy it. It wouldn't have to be expensive, or you could skip a video if it didn't sound fun! Just putting thoughts out there!

12-09-2005, 12:25 AM
Carafre: Sorry to hear you're sick! Get well soon, okay? I think your idea of a video/dvd sounds great! It would be nice to know someone else out there is doing the same video. I'm up for it! As far as what program? Anything is fine with me. I don't have that many, I have Tae Bo but it's sooo hard! Maybe if I knew we were all doing it, I would be more motivated?

Amanda: Glad to hear Christian is doing better! Did you end up getting freezing rain tonight after all? It was very cold and rainy here in Atlanta tonight, too, but not freezing. We bought Dryden his first winter coat tonight, though! He looks very cute and warm in it.

Hi Alisha and Julie! Hope you're both doing well.

Chris: That does sound like a good idea about the letter. Let me know if you do it and what the girls think of it! So did you end up with a sinus infection after all? I hope not, those are so painful!

Attention, everybody: I exercised tonight! Woo-hoo, first time in a loooong time. Well, I bowled. We went with my hubby to his bowling league and afterwards several of us stayed around and bowled 2 more games. I will be sore tomorrow!

Have a good evening, ladies, see ya tomorrow!

12-09-2005, 06:13 PM
Hi everyone, I would have checked in earlier but we didnt have any power. I have not eaten well this week...I think I need a swift kick in the fanny to get me moving in the right direction again, lol. I've done ok today though, then again I just havent had much of an appetite, but at least I havent been eating all the junk food i could get my hands on today. Tomorrow I am going to go to the store and stock up on my healthy foods...I had been staying w/in my calorie range, but I have made REALLY bad choices w/in that range. OH I almost forgot, I have to go to a Christmas buffet at the fire house on Sunday, I'll have to try to remember to watch my portions. I would skip it but I have to talk w/ the ladies auxillary about using my fundraiser again this year. So I can plan what supplies I need to order and when...I have also been pondering the thought of giving up my WAH biz, but cant make up my mind...I havent been that profitable, but its good for some quick cash at certain times of the year..Anywho I'll quit boring you w/ my life, LOL.

Cindy: We did get the ice, luckily it fell as mostly sleet so it wasnt as slick as if it had been all freezing rain. Our lights went out at 6pm yesterday (BEFORE the ice came, lol) and were out until just a few hours ago...I was SO bored, I'm glad to have my computer back. I was so happy that Christian had a good week...hopefully he is coming around ;) I think I have figured out why I have been slipping up on my diet so much lately. I was just thinking yesterday that if I hand M/C'd in Aug. I would have been 25 weeks along this week...I just need to refocus on the fact that I became motivated to lose this extra fat because I want my next pregnancy to be as healthy as it can be, and before that can happen, I will have to be in the best health I can be in... Wow i need to write that down and stick it on the fridge ;)

Anyways Dinner smells like it is about ready so I'd better go get the veggies going. Hope you all had a great day, and good luck w/ tomorrow weigh in...I think I have gained this week

12-10-2005, 12:16 AM
Cindy - :carrot: :carrot: Good for you!! Bowling is great exercise & I know you'll have the sore muscles tomorrow to prove it!!;) Cool - on the video! I think it would be a great motivator! I will go to Walmart or Target & see what is out. Which Tae Bo video do you have? Let's pick a date to have a video picked out. I know we have lots going on, but I really could use the kick in the butt too! I most likely will not be able to start for several days. I am going to urgent care as soon as hubby gets home in the am. I'm afraid I have some sort of chest infection - BUT hope not!!! Anyway - I vote we do the Tae Bo first. I've wanted to try it for so long!!!

Amanda - Glad Christian is doing ok! I am here to deliver a "kick in the butt"!! Let's get motivated, you've got to get healthy & fit for your next pregnancy!! C'mon - let's give that to be little one the best womb (room) :D ever!!!! You can do it!!! Do it for yourself because you deserve it!!! and so does your family present & future!!!:carrot:

Alisha - :D :D :D Hope you are doing ok! How's the couch 2 k going (is that it?) Are ya eating well?

Hi to all!!!

12-10-2005, 12:35 AM
The day is almost over and I'm so ready to soak in the tub with a book (NOT A TEXTBOOK!) and just relax.

I went to my weight loss clinic appt and fessed up to all my boo-boos for the month. Now it is really time to behave. I am going to try super hard. Someone really needs to give me a swift kick in the buttt to get me going on the exercise.
What time of the day do you all exerise?
What kind of exercise do you do?
Which exercies videos do you own?

Those are my wonder questions for the night. I'm going to kick back for a bit. I've done one exam for my business class and typed up some more notes for the final...That's enough for the day.

Night ladies.

12-10-2005, 02:08 AM
I exercise anytime I can, usually after kids are in bed. The only problem w/ this is I have trouble sleeping. I sometimes fit in a workout in the am - but rarely.

I walk, tone on the bowflex & have an exercise bike (recumbant.).

The only exercise video I have is, *gulp** Cindy Crawfords w/o with Radu!! I bought when I was 17 or so. It's really old!!! But it works!! I am going to get my first Tae Bo video when I figure out what Cindy has! We are going to try to use the same tapes and keep each other motivated & entertained!! Everyone else is welcome to join! Next is Belly Dancing!!!

I will be here a lot tonight! I can't stop coughing long enough to sleep!!

12-10-2005, 11:01 AM
Hello SAHMmies!

Carafre: I have the original Tae Bo, I think. It's at home right now so I can't look at it. There are three tapes (and I do mean tapes, not dvds!). One of them is just the instructional tape that teaches you the moves. That's the only one I've tried and I can't even get through that! Maybe someone else who has Tae Bo knows the names of the tapes I have?

Chris: I don't exercise much lately since I'm living in a hotel, but when I'm at home in my normal routine, I exercise while my little guy is napping. I used to do cardio (treadmill) for an hour during his morning nap then do Bowflex during his afternoon nap. Then take him for a walk in his stroller in the evenings. I can't wait to move and get back to my routine!

All: I will be going to TN this morning for the last time, so I won't have internet access until I get back on Thursday. Have a good week, ladies!

Cindy B

12-10-2005, 12:30 PM
Good Morning Ladies! How is everyone doing? Good i hope? I am sorry i have not been on in a couple of days. Had problems with the internet...but right now it seems to be working so i wanted to check in. I am VERY happy to report a 2 pound weight loss....13pounds till my goal.......

Cara: I too think the excercise video sounds great. I am currently doing TAEBO...its the VERY first tape....but hopefully for Christmas i will be getting the newest one which is the bootcamp workout....i find it hard the first time, but if you stick with it, it gets much easier. I also have winsor pilates....thats pretty hard, especially at the wieght i am! :( But the idea does sound great!! And as far as the Couch to 5k goes i did it the 1st day but then the other two day i got side tracked with my sons christmas play...etc....and i didn't do it. But hopefully today i am going to go and run!

Cynthia: Congrats on the excercise :carrot: I hope things are well with you and your family and your NEW home!!

Amanda::hug: Stay strong!! I know, we all know you can do it!! And however many kicks in the fanny you need....we will all deliver them one at a time if we have too!!

Chris: You need a kick in the butt too...alright " kicking you in the butt" BEHAVE yourself :D No seriously, stay strong....and don't be hard on yourself!
As far as your questions goes, they are as follows.....
Time of day to excercise: Mid afternoon
What type of excercises: Taebo, running (sorda) ab workouts, arm workouts, butt workouts
What type of videos do i own: Taebo (the original) Winsor Pilates, Leslie Samson walking workout tapes, BUNS, THIGHS, ABS wourkout video

Julie: I hope you are doing ok? How are things going for you?

Well ladies i am going to jump off here.....i will chat with you all soon! Have a GREAT DAY!

12-10-2005, 01:40 PM
Well, I hope it's okay if I jump in here with you guys. I am a SAHM of a beautiful two year old girl. I have A LOT of weight to lose but I'm definitely ready this time. My weigh in is tomorrow but so far I've lost 9.5 pounds. I can't wait to see what the scale says tomorrow.

Hope to get to know all of you ladies soon.

12-10-2005, 06:15 PM
I'm down .2 for the week. I finally dropped the period bloat. :)
220.4 last week 220.2 this week.

I tried a day of C25K this morning, and my knees are better but feel extra sensitive. I'm still pretty heavy, so I will have to take it easy.

Sounds like you ladies are doing well! I'll post some personals after I get back from the store. I'm out to face the cold. ;) laters!

12-10-2005, 11:29 PM
Carafre-I've thought about belly dancing too. It actually sounds fairly fun to me. Something different. Plus dancing doesn't really feel like exercise.

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. I'm assuming from all you've said is that you just squeeze the exercise in when you can during the day, as long as you do it. I too, have some WATP tapes and I have been trying to do some pilates workouts with my sister. I haven't done much in the last few days though.

Backt to my homework. Talk to you all tomorrow

12-11-2005, 10:35 AM
teahoney- :welcome: to SlimminSAHMmies! Congrats on the weight loss so far, that's awesome!! I'm sure you will love it here, this is a wonderful group of ladies. I look forward to reading your posts.

Alisha: Congrats on the loss! Unfortunately I gained this week :o I expected it though because I was really really bad this week (I was drinking regular coke and indulging my chocolate cravings ALL week) I am back on track today, Nothing like a gain to set you straight, LOL.

Chris and Cara: I used to have one of the belly dance videos, I loved it. Its really fun, and you REALLY feel it working your muscles.

Hope you all have a good weekend (well what's left of it anyway). I've got a Christmas dinner this evening, and I still have to make a covered dish to take so I have to get off my fanny and get busy. I'll check in tomorrow

12-11-2005, 12:27 PM

12-11-2005, 05:24 PM
Well, I am happy to report that I lost FIVE pounds this week. I'm still in shock especially because the last couple of weeks have been kind of slow. I only lost a half pound my last weigh-in so I just hoping for 2 pounds at least. When I saw five, I almost fainted. Now I only have 5.5 pounds to go to reach my New Year's goal. Woohoo!!! This calls for a dancing carrot or two...:carrot: :carrot:

12-11-2005, 08:51 PM
teahoney - :welcome3: & you get a :carrot: :carrot: ;) !! Congrats on the weight loss! We are so happy to have you here! We got a great group here!! I am a SAHM to Riley, three & Talon 16 months!! WELCOME!!!

Alisha - :carrot: :dancer: You are on FIRE :flame: . I am so happy for you.

Julie - :carrot: :)

I hope to be back in the game soon. I am tired of being sick. I am afraid that I gained some weight back, I didn't weigh yesterday. I will tomorrow.

I gotta go rest

12-12-2005, 12:06 AM
Evening all...just a quick fly by. I'm sooo tired. I'm heading to bed. I'll check in tomorrow.

12-12-2005, 12:27 AM
Good Evening Ladies, just wanted to check in real quick to see how everyone is doing?

Tea: 5 pounds!! You go girl :carrot: Your awesome!! What are you doing to loose wieght?

Cara: Feel better soon!! Take care of yourself 1st!!

Well i hope everyone has a GREAT night!! Take care, and i will talk to you ladies tomorrow!

12-12-2005, 09:51 AM
Good Morning SAHMmies!

I did pretty well last night at the Christmas dinner. I only had 2 sm. slices of turkey, and a few bites each of stuffing and green beans. 1 devilled egg, and 1 slice of home made white bread w/ 1tsp margarine. I did have to tiny slices of the red velvet cake though, lol. But it was delicious  I did win a $25 walmart gift card though, that's just enough to finish up my Christmas shopping (I only have 2 gifts left to buy).

Right now I am waiting to see if they are going to call school off or not. It is already 2hrs late and some of the back roads are still in really bad shape.
Anyways, I'd better get off here and work on the house a little bit at least.
Talk to you all later

12-12-2005, 12:09 PM
Alisha - I'm just mainly eating plenty of fruits and veggies, whole foods and drinking plenty of water. I'm also becoming very aware of serving sizes and I don't eat after 8pm if it is at all possible. Plus, I exercise. I do Billy's Bootcamp.

Amanda - Sounds like you did pretty good at that Christmas dinner. I probably wouldn't have been able to pass up on the cake either. So long as you enjoyed it. Don't you hate when you go off program and then you don't even like what you had? No point in going off if you can't enjoy it. lol

12-13-2005, 09:28 AM
Good Morning Ladies! How is everyone doing! Sorry i didn't post yesterday i got REALLY busy deep cleaning my house.

Tea: How do you like the bootcamp workout...i am hoping i get it for christmas? Is it hard? Does it work?

Amanda: Congrats on not splurging too much! And so what you had a piece of cake, you deserve it!!

Well ladies i am going to jump off here, i hope you ALL have a GREAT day!!

12-13-2005, 08:36 PM
Just had to pop in and see what you all were doing. I have one more final to take tonight and then I get a whole month to relax. I need it. I did go to the foot doctor today. He taped up my foot for the next couple of days to see if it would make it feel better. Surprising, it does! So next week, I go back to see him and he said they might consider making a orthotic to go in my shoes to keep my foot at a certain position. At least he didn't suggest orthopedic shoes. If he did, I'd live with the pain. All of this comes from my rheumatoid arthritis. One of the hazards of the disease.

Okay gotta finish dinner. I have lost 1 pound so far this week. Wish me luck with the rest of it.

12-13-2005, 11:52 PM
just a quick hello - I am still sick and very tired. I hope you guys are doing well, I'll check in tom. if I feel better.

12-14-2005, 12:01 PM
Alisha - I love the bootcamp workout. When I am finished I am dripping with sweat. I especially love it because it has the resistance bands. I am noticing muscle tone in my arms and legs. I just ordered Turbo Jam and can't wait to receive it. Then I'll start rotating the two.

12-14-2005, 06:25 PM
Good Evening Ladies, how is everyone doing? Good i hope? Things are going ok for me i guess, its just a REALLY nasty day outside, and i think that just puts me in a BLAH mood, ya know?

Cara: Feel better soon!!

Tea: I can't wait till i get the new bootcamp workout....i am starting to get tired of the 1st Taebo...i want something new, ya know?

Chris: Congrats on the 1 pound, you go girl!! :carrot: :carrot:

Hey Julie, Cynthia, are you guys doing?

Well ladies i am going to jump off here i will chat with you all later. Have a great night!!

12-14-2005, 09:53 PM
Alisha, I'm doing well. AF takes me down for a week, so I don't feel like posting much.

Cara, I hope your feeling better. Get some red raspberry leaf tea. You can't drink too much so drink away, it will help boost the immune system. *hugs*

Amanda, congrats on doing so well at the party.

Chris, congrats on the loss, I hope the orthotic helps.

I've started back into the Couch-to-5k program. I'm taking it really slow. My knee pain is gone. :tread: I stepped on the scale this morning and it said 220.4 and that was before I went to the bathroom. So hopefully I'll have a loss on Friday. :carrot:

12-14-2005, 10:45 PM
Hi ladies, I just wanted to check in so you all know I havent dropped off the face of the earth, lol. I have had a terrible case of diarhea (spelling?) since early this afternoon and have spent nearly all evening in the bathroom. Hopefully whatever it is will be done and overwith by tomorrow... We are supposed to get another ice storm tonight and tomorrow, so I may lose power again. I will check in as soon as I am able to though.

Julie: Glad to hear you knee is feeling better. I know what you mean about AF...I just took my last "active" bc pill today so I'm due within a couple of days

Alisha and Tea: I have been dying to try the bootcamp workout...I keep trying to get it on ebay, but always get outbid..Hopefully Jason will take a hint and get it for me for Christmas...I love working out w/ billy blanks, I have a couple of the original vhs tapes, but my vcr is broken and I cant afford to replace it right now, lol. Oh well, I'll just keep working w/ Kathy Smith for a while I suppose.

Anyways, I gotta go try to clean up the kitchen a little. I'll talk to you ladies soon

12-14-2005, 11:22 PM
Good evening ladies! We're staying at a hotel tonight since our house is full of boxes, so I got to go online and see my Sahmmies! But only for a couple minutes, as hubby is chomping at the bit to surf for awhile, as well.

Welcome, Tea! You'll like it here, lots of motivation and friendship. Congrats on the loss!

Carafre: Get well, get well soon, we want you to get well! (Remember that song from Seinfeld? Okay, maybe I'm the only dork who loves that show). Seriously, take it easy, maybe even through the holidays, then you'll be ready to go and lose that weight!

Everyone else: Hope you're all doing well! I'll be seeing you again in a couple days.

Cindy B.

12-14-2005, 11:53 PM
Julie, what is the couch to 5k program? Never heard of that one.

12-15-2005, 04:53 AM
It's a beginner's running program that you can use as a guide to build up from couch potato, to a 5k runner. :)

I started out too fast and it was too much for my overweight self. I slowed it way down and have been doing some strength training as well. I'll work on speed after I work up to the 5k distance or 3.1 miles :tread:

12-15-2005, 10:19 AM
I definitely admire all of you that are doing to couch to 5k plan. I have grown to love exercise but one thing I will never grow to love is running. I only run when chased and even then sometimes I don't run. I hate running, I much prefer walking. So I am looking forward to the warmer weather again so I can start walking.

12-15-2005, 11:09 PM
Hello, Slimmin' Sahmmies! I am back. I am taking it easy for another week. I've been peeking in at ya'll. I haven't felt like posting, sorry! Thanks for all of the hugs & support.

Amanda - Are you any better? Get well soon!

Alisha - ;) How you doin'? I hope great!!! Ya'll gettin' any ice?

Julie - Thanks!;) I wish my hubby could find that red rasberyy tea leaf, but send a man to do a woman's job... Just kidding! I hope to get out tomorrow or Sunday - I'll look for it then. It sounds good. I am so happy that your knees are feeling better! Back on the couch to 5k, :carrot: !!!

Cindy - I love Seinfeld!!! I still watch all of the reruns when I can. I hope all is well with you and your family! how's the exercise & eating going?

I bet I've gained a couple of pounds. I've had to drink juice & lots of liquids. I am a fluid balloon!!! I have never been so ready to get back into my routine. I hope to find the Tae Bo tape. Sounds like fun!!!:p Talk to all of you soon!!

12-15-2005, 11:58 PM
Couch to 5k -not for me. I think. I don't know if it is anything I could accomplish with my RA or not. I haven't had any major swelling or flare ups but I think it may be too hard on my joints. I'll have to check it out I suppose.

Carafre-Nice to hear your feeling better. What were you down with anyhow?

Anybody watching Bruce Almighty? It's on tv. Not much stuff going on here, right? That'st my life. I'm going to do Pilates with my sister in the morning and we're going to get a little Christmas shopping done after that.

Well ladies, I am outta here. I have some presents to wrap. THey have taken over my sewing room and I need to get my space back. See ya in the morning.

12-16-2005, 12:01 PM
I have bronchitis. Mix that with 4 hours of sleep a night and that's me. :dizzy:

12-16-2005, 04:23 PM
I don't do well on 4 hours of sleep, sick or not. lol

I got through Week 3 Day 1 of couch-to-5K and really enjoyed it. I took my pace way down and it was a lot easier then I expected. I'll work on speed later. Right now a speed walker would beat me in a race. lol

I jogged for 3 minutes straight. How cool is that? I haven't run for that long without passing out in years.

12-16-2005, 07:18 PM
Julie - That's great!! :carrot: I would pass out if I ran for three minutes!!! That's great! Keep up!!!

12-16-2005, 11:03 PM
Congrats Julie!!!

12-16-2005, 11:59 PM
Carafre-I'm sorry to hear about the bronchitis. YUCK! I know you must be miserable. I remember when I had pneumonia a couple years ago. Man, I felt so awful. Did you get some antibiotics or anything? Chicken soup....:) ?????
Four hours of sleep ain't enough. You get some rest girl.

Julie-Congrats! I remember the first time I jogged on my sister's treadmill and lasted a little over 3 minutes. I was so shocked and it felt soooo good. I know I wouldn't last that long now. I haven't really been exercising much at all. Great job!!!!!!!!!!!:carrot: :cp: :cb:

12-17-2005, 12:15 AM
Yep - I did get antibiotics but I think something else is going on (lack of sleep?) but my fever is back. I honestly believe that if I could sleep a full eight hours one night, I would start to get better. Tomorrow night, hubby is off work so he will have the night shift w/ the kids. We'll see. I guess I'll try sleeping upright. I've never had this or pneumonia. Thanks for the well wishes. I am almost over my limit of how much I can take. I would cry but it causes me to hack even worse.:(

Didn't mean to go off on a pitty party there - hope ya'll are WELL!!!

12-17-2005, 10:21 AM
Good Morning Ladies! How is everyone doing, i am sorry i have been MIA for the last couple of days....i have been feeling kinda down...missing my family and a little sick.....sore throat, tired, achy....all that great stuff...i really hope i don't get chat Cara has, or what i had a couple of weeks ago. So needless to say i have not excercised in a couple of days which sucks!! But i am happy to report that i have not gained this week! So i guess thats good, i would of liked to see a loss but i will take what i get, ANYTHING is better thana gain!! You know?

Cara: You poor thing!! Take care of yourself, and TAKE IT EASY!! :grouphug: Don't worry you will be back to your oldself in no time :ebike: And as far as the ice goes, no we don't really have any here...a few roads have had some ice on them, but nothing much, how are things down your way?

Julie: You go girl on making it week 3! I wish i could make it past week one...everytime i think i am going to finish, i get sick, or something happens! Alisha - :faint: I REALLY hope that you are not getting sick!! I now what you mean about feeling down. It the holidays. :snow4: We are here for ya! Don't get sick, doll!!! Our weather here is just cold. We had some rain several days ago, but nothing major.

Do you guys still want to weigh on Sat.? I want to weigh in one day a week. It doesn't matter which one. I am at 199. I hope it's fluid weight! I will scream if I gained four pounds in a week & a half. :tantrum:

Well have a good day.

carafre :ginger: :xcheer:

12-17-2005, 12:18 PM
Carafre-If your fever continues, I would get back to the doctor. You poor honey. It is so hard to be sick and still have to be a mom. Gosh girl, I hope you start feeling better soon.

Alisha-You're kind of under the weather too, huh? I guess its that time of year. We own Bruce Almighty too. Jim is such an awesome actor. I wasn't too sure about it, but I watched A Series Of Unfortunate Events with the kids the other day and he is quite something else in that too. My oldest is now reading those books, and she actually likes them.

Today I have to take the girls to their dance performance at the nursing home. Then hopefully I can get some presents wrapped. I got some more shopping done last night so now I just have my parents to buy for, my hubby, my cousin, and my 2 brother in laws, and my sister in law. Of course I have to take the kids to go get their presents for their cousins, and Tiana needs to buy a couple extra things so for her dad and stepmom. I'm cutting it close this year.

My house is a disaster area, so I suppose I should start getting some stuff done. check back in a bit.

12-17-2005, 02:23 PM
Hey just a quick pop in!

Cara:  with all the fluids you have been having to drink i am sure that t is water weight..don't stress it honey!! I like saturdays.....Maybe we should do mondays....that way its like a start of a fresh know, i don't know...whatever you guys want :D

Chris: Do you want to see the new movie "Dick and Jane" i do, i totally think it looks really funny. To be honest i was not crazy about A series of.....i don't think it was one of his best.

Well ladies i hope everyone is continueing to have a great day! TAKE CARE!!

12-17-2005, 03:51 PM
Hey Ladies! I've missed you! I'm finally back in Atlanta and we're gone from Tennessee for good. We'll close on our house on Monday and the movers will be there Tuesday. We won't have internet access until the cable guy comes on Wednesday, but then we'll finally be in and this whole nightmare will be over. Guess what: the *&%^$ people who were supposed to buy the house backed out on Friday, the day of closing! We still got our buy-out money from the relocation company, but a reduced amount. So I'm absolutely furious and can hardly think straight. I'd just rather forget about the whole thing.

Anyway, I know my problems aren't all that interesting to you, I just wanted to vent and explain why I've been MIA. I hope all of you are doing well, especially those of you that are sick.

Carafre, PLEASE get some more sleep! Sleep is so important to your health, you'll be amazed by how much better you'll feel. You're right, sleeping upright may help (do you have a recliner?).

Julie: Woo-hoo on running! I think I'll look into the C2K after the first of the year.

I can't wait to move in and get back on my treadmill. I will start exercising no later than Monday the 26th, and you can all hold me to that. I'm soooo looking forward to losing weight again, instead of gaining. I've been so upset by this whole relocation thing lately that not only have I not been exercising but I've also been eating the worst junk food imaginable. The day after we move, we're going to a Yule party and will probably eat too much, so I'm planning on getting back into healthy eating habits again starting Thursday the 22nd.

Chris: How did the dance performance go today? What kind of dancing do your daughters do?

Alisha: Yes, I'm sick of hotels! I agree with you about the Lysol on this board, ha! I guess it's just that time of the year. Yes, my Christmas shopping is done except for the stocking stuffers for the kids (I always wait til the last minute for those things, for some reason).

Hi Amanda and Tracey and everyone else!

Okay, I've finished my novel. I'll talk to you guys later!

12-17-2005, 11:17 PM
Alisha - You and I both are sick. I caught it from my little munchkin who caught it from my brother. I have been so out of it and haven't exercised since Wednesday. Then to make matters worse, I got my period today and I am fully expecting to feel like total crap tomorrow.

Chris - I hope you are able to get some gifts wrapped today. Just one week left!

Cindy - Sorry to hear that things didn't go as well as expected with selling your house.

Like I said, I haven't been feeling well. I hate being sick. I feel so miserable. But it's that time of the year and everyone I speak to seems to be sick. Even one of my kitties is sneezing. I hope to back in the swing of things come Monday.

12-18-2005, 12:08 AM
Tracey - Sorry to hear that you're sick. Hope you are better soon.

Chris - I am going to the DR. Monday if I feel the same & have had little sleep. I must say you are thr busiest person I've ever known!! How do you do it? How did the dance performance go?

Cindy - You're back!! We really missed ya! Here's to new beginnings & friends to lean on...:xcheer:

Alisha - BTW - I can't wait to see "dick & Jane" it looks so funny!!

12-18-2005, 10:48 AM
Good Morning Ladies! How is everyone doing? Good i hope? Things are ok here, just cold!! But probaly not as bad as it could be its only like in the 20's. I am still feeling a little under the weather, hopefully tomorrow i will be better. I am ready to get back to excercising....its just hard, when you feel achy and tired, you know?

Cara: You really do need to get PLENTY of rest, which i know is EASIER said then done when your a mommy but do try hard!! And if you are not better soon, go see a doctor...crazy girl!! BTW Doesnt that Dick and Jane look hilarious..i think i might wait for it to come out on dvd before i see it, i hate paying movie theater prices!!

Cynthia: Those A**holes!! You poor thing, you have been through so much with your house! I am glad it is FINALLY over, but i am sad/mad it didn't work out the way you wanted it too!! Good luck to getting back to plan, if you need it we will KICK you in the get you movin :D And don't worry about venting thats what we are all here for!!

Chris: How was the performance?

Tea: Doesn't it just suck bieng sick...i hate it more when my kids are sick.....i think i need to take stock in lysol, i have been buying so much of it the last couple of :D

Well ladies i am going to jump off here i want to get some wrapping done....i will chat with you all later! Have a WONDERFUL day!!

12-18-2005, 11:10 AM
Good morning ladies. I have been so off program this week and to make it worse, I have gained back almost 3 pounds over the last 2 weeks! I am so disappointed in myself. I have singlehandedly made sure that I will not reach my new years goal. I am going to work extra hard the next 2 weeks to make sure I at least get close to my goal. In this journey, failure is Not an Option. I will keep my calories below 1500 daily, drink a min of 64oz water, and use my Kathy Smith dvd every other day (except Christmas eve and Christmas day)
Sorry I have not posted in the last 4 days. I have not had time to get online since the kids have been home from school since Thursday because of that ice storm. They have been stuck in the house and they have been wild, lol. All I have got done is picking up after them, lol.

Cara I hope you feel better soon
Cindy- Sorry the deal fell through on your house. Hopefully you'll find a serious buyer soon. At least you finally get to move out of that hotel room and into a real house again :)

Everyone else, I hope you are doing well. And consider this board lysol'd, LOL.

I'll check back in tomorrow

12-18-2005, 11:58 AM
Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and wanted to introduce myself. I am a SAHM to two boys, ages 4 and 6. We are also homeschooling this year.

It seems like you guys have a great support system in these message boards. I love all the goal trackers in the signatures.

12-18-2005, 12:20 PM
CrispyMama - :welcome3: So happy you found us!!! Welcome to our group!! You're gonna love it here!! We've got support to spare!!!

Amanda - Whew - you've been busy. I am with you. I've gained back weight in a week. But we can get on schedule. I am revising my goal since I will not be able to lose 14 pounds in a couple of weeks. But I am not letting myself off the hook either.

Hello to all & see ya later this afternoon.
Oh - yeah, I slept most of the night (had to b/f once) but I feel so much better. I knew it was the sleep!!

12-18-2005, 06:27 PM
Hi more dance performance today. I am too busy. I can't keep up with it all and I wish things would settle down. I'm about wore out.

Just had to say hey to everyone. I need to get some things done and some presents wrapped. Then we're going to go to my MIL's house and heist gifts from her closet while she's gone. She has all these presents she's gotten over the years, still in the boxes, that she's never used, so we are going to take them while she's gone and rewrap them and give em back to her on Christmas as a little Christmas joke. That's the sense of humor of the family. She'll get a kick out of it.

Talk to you all later.

12-18-2005, 09:12 PM
Hello Amanda! Sorry to hear about the ice storm. Those are the worst, even worse than blizzards in my opinion. Hope you didn't have any damage.

Hi Chris (the new one!). Welcome to 3fc and to our Slimmin' SAHMmies thread! Good luck with your weight loss goals. I've got one son who's 16 months old, and we're planning on home educating him, too! I'm not sure how to go about it, but I've already found a support group in my area and I'm sure I'll get the hang of it when the time comes. Although, as parents we start educating our kids at home from the time they're born, don't we?!

Hi other Chris! That's hilarious about the presents in your MIL's closet! Hope she gets a kick out of it! That's something my family would do, too!

Hope everyone else is doing well. Carafre, so glad you're feeling better after getting some much-needed rest! But don't overdo it now, okay?

Well, I'm slowly getting back into the swing of eating well. We went to the mall today, and at the food court I made some healthy choices (veggies and fruit), and at Starbucks tonight I got plain coffee and no milk or vanilla syrup in it (although... I DID get a cookie... oops!).

We're closing on our new house tomorrow afternoon, yay! It will finally be over (which I'm sure you will all be happy about, since I've been complaining about this whole relocation for 3 months!).

Okay, time to go. The Bears are playing the Falcons tonight, which is my favorite team versus Tim's favorite team, so I think I'll pop some corn, get my bottle of water, and watch Chicago kick some butt. See ya later!

12-18-2005, 11:08 PM
Hi. Really need encouragement and motivation. I get really motivated, then a short time later, I'm stuffing myself with lots and lots of sugary stuff. Any ideas on getting motivated for keeps? Or is it truly a minute by minute thing? Thanks in advance for any help.

12-19-2005, 01:08 AM
fit, I'm having problems with all my favorite sugary foods too. It's that time of year. I'll just try stepping up the exercise and try to cut calories when I can. I know that I won't pass up all the treats. I just wish I could learn moderation. *blush*

12-19-2005, 01:09 AM
I didn't lose this week. I had a .4 gain. Today's weigh in was 220.6. Well, I know it could be worse, so I'll count my blessings.

12-19-2005, 10:43 AM
fit - most of the time it is truly a minute by minute thing. The fact is, motivation just doesn't stick around for long. So you just have to be determined that motivation or not, you will do it. And that sometimes breaks down to minute by minute or meal by meal. But I know you can do it.

Julie - a .4 gain isn't bad at all for this time of the year.

12-19-2005, 11:26 AM
fit: Like Julie said, it's tough this time of year because there are lots of goodies wherever we go. But in a normal season, I've found it to be a combination of the minute-by-minute approach and long-term motivation. For example, when I finally knuckled down and became serious about losing weight this summer, I got rid of all the junkfood in my house. That's a huge first step and it helps because who wants to take a drive just to get junk food? You would have to make a conscious decision to do so, and if you're serious about losing weight that conscious decision is easy enough to forego.

So the first few days or weeks were a little tough. But then I realized I had made such good food choices for several days in a row, and I didn't want to blow it so I kept it up. In other words, the "minute-by-minute" moments were turning into day-by-day choices. I got to the point, especially after adding exercise and actually seeing the pounds come off, where I was so proud of what I'd done that I didn't want to stop now.

Anyway, that's how it was for me. You can do it. It really is mind over matter much of the time, but eventually those good eating practices you're forcing upon yourself will become second-nature, and you'll wonder why you ever were able to eat so much chocolate before! Good luck!

PS: Also, don't think of it like "I'll never be able to have a cookie again". That's a sure set-up for failure. Of course you'll still be able to have sweets and other treats. The key is to truly turn them into "treats" that you have once in awhile on special occasions. And 3 Oreos instead of the whole box!

12-19-2005, 11:54 AM
Julie - that' really not a bad gain. I know it seems like it's going backwards but just focus on doing your couch to 5k & eating balanced. You are headed in the right direction.

I agree - we have to make decisions minute by minute at first. But the "motivation" to do this should be your resolve to get healthy and stay healthy. Some of us have other reasons as well, maybe we have health problems, want to have another baby or need to fit into those jeans!!! But the bottom line is if you aren't of the mindset that it's time for a change and really put your whole being into the commitment, then failure is there waiting. Motivation is easy at first. After all of that initial "let's go attitude" wears off , you need your commitment to carry you through. Most of us have treats & splurges & backtracking. But the next day we pick ourselves up & accept that we can move on w/o going into a spiral. Especially when we are exercising & eating right, the splurges get less & less - like Cindy said, three oreos instead of the while bag!!!! Just keep your head up and know that we are here for you when you need support, motivation or a kick in the butt!! Whatever support you need, we are here. This group has changed so much for me. I am only too happy to be a part of such a wonderful group of friends. So welcome fit & be healthy!!!

12-19-2005, 02:47 PM
Good Afternoon ladies. School was 2 hours late this morning so my whole day is out of whack, lol. And to top it off AF came least that explains my sugar cravings :) After I dropped Christian off at school I finished up my Christmas shopping. Now all i have left to do is take Christian to the dollar tree so he can do his shopping, lol. Haleigh's school is having a "gingerbread shop" this week, so I sent some $ to school w/ her today so she can shop for her grandparents and for Christian. They will both be tickled to death.

Fitchick- Welcome to the board :) i look forward to reading your posts

Cindy, Julie, Cara, Tea: Hope you all are doing well. Those who are sick, i hope you feel better soon.

I hate to run but I have to get some house work done before I have to go pick Christian back up from school. Have a great day

12-19-2005, 05:53 PM
Thanks for the welcome and the words of encouragement, ladies! Workin' on that motivation... :)

12-19-2005, 09:20 PM
Hey fitchick...welcome.

Okay..busy day again. I had to work and now I'm going to do some marathon shopping and get this done tonight. No more stores for me after this.

I did horrible today. The candy at work called me and I answered. Protein is key for me. If I don't get enough of it, then my insulin level fluctuates too much and I binge. If I start out bad in the beginning of the day, then the rest of the day usually follows that way for me. It's not that I try to sabotage the whole day, it's just the wonderful way my body reacts to the extra sugar in my system. Whoever is having a problem with the sugary sweets, just hang in there. If you make a boo-boo, don't wait til tomorrow. Get right back on the track that same day. is calling.

12-20-2005, 09:43 AM
Thanks for the Welcome!:)

Chris, boy can I relate to the sugar/insulin problem. My doctor suggested last year that I was probably insulin resistant/ pre-diabetes. I did tons of reading and have learned a lot. I agree, protein is key. When I am eating right, I'm having protein with everything, Ballancing every grain and fruit with protein. It makes a huge difference in my cravings. Sweets are my big downfall!

Carafre, Thanks! I could sure use some support. I have been thinking of this site since Sunday. It helped me make sure to get some exercise done, and make some better food choices, sunday and monday.

CynthiaB, Yup, we sure do start at birth! We are pretty relaxed homeschoolers at this point. It's our first official year. It realy dose feel just like a continuation of our regular SAH day. Except a couple times a week we pull out the books. Having a group is great! We get together at least twice a week with ours. You will definatly be ready when the time comes, you are already ahead of the game!

My goal for this week is to continue making better food choices and to exercise 10 minutes every morning. My goal for Tuesday Dec 27 (1 week from now) is to exercise 20 min every morning and make a food plan for my days. Time to get back on track.:carrot:

Oh.. and to not pull out all my hair trying to get ready for Sunday. :dizzy: I am cooking my first Christmas family dinner.:crossed: I'm sure it will all go well. Right?:?:

Good Morning Ladies! How is everyone doing? Sorry i didn't post yesterday...feeling a little under the "weather" hopefully i will be back to my oldself soon :carrot:

Cara: Glad you are feeling better. Still take it easy! :)

Cynthia: I don't think you could of said it any better about having motivation and staying motivated!! Good luck with the closing on your house!! Stay strong, its almost over!!

Julie: Don't worry about the .4 gain! That could simply be water wieght!! Especially with the time of the year that it is.....girl thats good!! Stay strong....

Amanda: You really have some bad weather up your way uh? That sucks!! Good job on getting your shopping done, isn't it a relief to know its done....its only going to get more and more crazy at the stores.....what about wrapping, have you even started..? I did, but i still have PLENTY more to do!!

12-20-2005, 02:16 PM
Crispy: Welcome! Of course your dinner will work out :) Just take baby steps and dont get in a hurry ;)

Alisha: The ice was really nasty for a few days, my MIL's back yard is still like a skating rink, since the mountains shade it most of the day. I actually do have my wrapping done. I tried to wrap as I brought gifts home, that way I wouldnt have to sit and do a marathon wrapping session at the end of this week, LOL .. My Mom on the other hand will probably be wrapping gifts up until time to open them on Christmas eve, lol (we have our dinner and such on Christmas eve there, and open gifts about 7pm)

Today I treated myself to a new exercise dvd. I bought Crunch Fat Burning Dance Party. I thought it looked like it would be fun. I'm going to try it out after I start aload of laundry. So I'd better get off here and get busy.

I'll check in w/ you ladies tomorrow :)

12-21-2005, 12:35 AM
Hello all! Just a quick note to say hi! Hope all is well! I feel so much better that I plan on exercising tomorrow. I'll take it easy and see how it goes. I can't wait to get back on a regular workout schedule. These pounds are going bye-bye.

12-21-2005, 01:07 AM
Crispy, the doctor didn't say I was prediabetic yet, but well on my way if I don't get things under control. She was explaining that with the my insulin level spiking all the time, I was just overtaxing my pancreas which will eventually get "tired" and quit producing enough insulin. Does that make sense? I don't know how else to explain it.

Cara-Glad to hear your feeling better. I'm waiting to get sick and get it over with. I am sooo nauseous right now. There is a stomach bug floating through the house and I think I'm next on the hit list.

Cynthia-Congrats on the house closing! What a perfect Christmas present. That is just awesome.

I am waiting for my sister to show up to pick up her kids. She had to work til 10 and her hubby is out of town. But my gosh...I just feel yucky and tired and just want to go to bed. Everyone else is sacked out. Why can't I???:( Oh well, soon enough I guess.

I'm going to check my email and see what's on Ebay. Talk to you all tomorrow.

12-21-2005, 11:15 AM
Just dropping in to say hello. I'm sure you've heard about our wonderful transit strike here in New York *note sarcasm*. I had to spend 30 bucks in cab fare yesterday to get around. I am so mad.

12-22-2005, 02:15 AM
Hey SAHMmies! Just a quick note to say I'm sitting in my new living room on a bean bag in front of my tv watching Fox News, drinking a glass of Pinot Grigio, hubby and son in their respective beds, cats still isolated in the bonus room, after a long day of unpacking, and I feel GREAT! It's finally over and I can get on with my life and be a real person again, no hotels or travelling 3 hours to scoop litterboxes, or worrying about buying/selling a house.

And, you'll be proud, I went grocery shopping this evening and bought a ton of healthy stuff. No more eating out or just eating frozen pizzas. It felt good! I can't wait to unwrap the Bowflex and to jump on the treadmill. Maybe a couple more days.

Thanks, fellow SAHM's for being so supportive while I've been relocating. I can now get back to the task of losing weight and helping to motivate and support others. So exciting! Let's do it, guys, let's reach our goals!

Cindy B.

12-22-2005, 03:07 AM
Cindy - :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: I am so HAPPY!!!!!! Let's do it!!! Today is a new day!! I go shopping later & am getting healthy foods also. I am done with the weight gain.

12-22-2005, 09:43 AM
Good Morning Ladies! How is everyone doing? Sorry i didn't post yesterday! Been busy wrapping and picking up a few last things and running some errands.....It is Sooooo crazy out there this time of the year.

Cynthia: I am so happy for you!! You can finally relax! Good luck on getting back on track and excercising, i know you can do it!!

Tea: It has to be CRAZY up there right now!! I think that is BS what those workers are doing!!! I am suprised you even got a cab, i bet those cab drivers are busy!!

Cara: Take it easy, let your body FULLY recover! Good luck getting back on plan!!

Well i hope everyone is doing well! Take care! Talk to you all later!

12-22-2005, 08:09 PM
Thank goodness the transit strike is over. It will take a couple of days but we should be back to normal soon.

Just dropping in...I hope everyone is doing okay.

12-22-2005, 09:49 PM
tea - So glad the strike is over! I couldn't believe the amount of people that were affected!!

Alisha - Are u finished yet? I am DONE!!! All I have left is grocery shopping tomorrow. How are you feeling? I hope you are well!! Take care and I'll see ya tomorrow!!

12-22-2005, 10:51 PM
Carafre: Thanks for the well wishes. So, did you get healthy groceries too? :)

Alisha: Still shopping? We finished early for a change this year. Although my hubby said he still has a couple things to get me, which is normal for him (last-minute, that is!). Yes, you're right, it's so busy this time of year. But I think we're all as busy as we let ourselves be, I've found. Sometimes it can be hard, but I've learned to say "No" around the holidays and it really helps the stress level.

Tracey: So sorry you were affected by the strike. I can't believe those idiots, anyway. I know unions can be helpful, but I think their time has passed. Now they seem to be no better than politicians with an agenda, and losing sight of reality. Anyway, sorry to rant. I'm just glad for you that it's over. Were you able to finish your Christmas shopping and get where you needed to go?

Hope everyone else is doing well. I ate well today but didn't drink enough water. How is everyone else doing with their water intake lately?

12-23-2005, 11:30 AM
Cindy-Congrats on the house and buying healthy food! Bet you feel great!

Tracey-Glad to hear the strike is over.

I'm sill shopping and trying to get ready for the next couple of days. This is the latest I have ever been. I usually get done alot earlier. Oh well.

Merry Christmas if I don't get back on here later.

12-23-2005, 12:32 PM
Good morning, ladies!

Chris: Late shopping for you too, huh? Think of it this way, you were too busy exercising and eating healthy and losing weight to go shopping, right? (That's true, isn't it?!?)

I haven't used my signature lately because I have no idea how much I weigh. I will try to weigh tomorrow, if not I'll wait until next Saturday and get a fresh start. Does everyone still weigh on Saturdays? I know there was talk about changing that day, any day is fine with me.

Also, did we decide on a tape/dvd to do together? If so, let me know what it is (I may have missed some messages in the last couple weeks). Again, I'm all for starting it maybe next week.

My stepchildren (son 12, daughter 10) will be here next week. That's one more great thing about me not working anymore; we can get my hubby's kids anytime for as long as we want, and don't have to juggle our days off from work. They are involved in so many sports lately, though, that it's tough to find a time to see them. But this is the first winter in awhile that they are not involved in anything, and they have said they are loving it. So we should have lots of fun next week.

I released the cats from the bonus room this morning, so now they have run of the house. And I do mean "run"! It sounds like a herd of horses right now with all of them running and jumping on all the boxes, etc.

Hope everyone has a good day. Hi to Amanda, Carafre, Julie, Chris, Alisha, Tracey, Chris, and everyone else. If I don't "see" you before, have a great Christmas! :clause:

12-23-2005, 05:54 PM
Cindy-How many kitties do ya got? I have four little "angel" babies. Yah right! Anyhow, I have a tiger stripe mama and her full-grown son, a long-haired gray kitty, and George. He's white with orange ears and tail and by far the most comical loveable one of the bunch. His only downfall is that he's the "ted bundy" of the neighborhood. It's so embarrassing, but the neighbor's just keep egging him on with their bird feeders and bird baths.

Ummmm....yah, I've been eating healthy.;) ;) ;) You're buying that one right?
My stomach is still feeling half yucky though, so not much food is making it through my lips. The stuff that does is not exactly healthy food. (oops, did I say that out loud???)

I know...I'm always cleaning up something but as life goes with 3 children, I better get back to doing what needs to be done. Whether I like it or not.

12-24-2005, 09:17 AM
Good Morning Everyone. I am sorry I havent been around, DH has been off from work and he is an internet hog, lol. He's off through Dec 30, I'll probably be ready to pull my hair out by then, LOL. I have to go to my Moms house for Christmas today so I'll keep this one short. I just wanted to stop in to wish you all a Merry Christmas.
Oh and, CONGRATS CINDY! I'm so glad you finally got moved into your house!

Cara, Tea, Alisha, Julie and everyone else, enjoy your Christmas dinners and I'll drop back in as soon as DH eases up on his pc usage, lol.

12-24-2005, 10:29 AM
Good Morning Ladies, how is everyone doing? Everyone ready, i am almost ready just got to finish wrapping a few gifts and then i am DONE!! Today, i have to go to the inlaws for there christmas eve celebration. And then tomorrow i am going over there for the morning to open some presents. But actually Monday me and my family are celebrating Christmas. Because my 7 year old is with hi biological mother for Christmas, even though we are getting him back on Christmas day around 5:00pm we want him to wake up and see all the presents "santa" left for him...and be excited. So we are doing it on Monday. Which is ok, it gives me one more day to wrap. :carrot:

Cynthia: I still weigh in on Saturdays as far as my wieght tracker goes, to update it or whatever, but i have to admit i am a CRONIC wiegher, i wiegh everyday, a couple times a day!! Aaahhh!! I know its bad to do that, but i can't help it i am obsessed with the scales!! I am glad you will get to see your stepchildren, i bet that will really make the hoildays nice, for you and your family!!

Cara: I am doing better.....still got a runny nose and a itchy throat and a cough, but all and all i am doing good! How bout' you? How are you doing?

Amanda: Your Poor thing, your hubby is off until the 30th....Aaaaaahhhhhh!!! Remember just breath HeeeHeee HooooHoooo HeeeeeHeeeee HooooHoooo...:D

Chris: Don't stress it.....we all have are slip ups around the holiday, just be ready to get back on track!!

Tea: I am so glad for you that the strike is over!!

Julies: How are you doing? Good i hope!!

Merry Christmas Sahmmies :tree: :gift2: :present: :elf: :hohoho: :ginger: :coolsnow: :mrsclaus:

12-24-2005, 01:35 PM
Merry Christmas!
I'm crossing my fingers:crossed: that the rest of my kids stay well for the next two days. Nicole was "frowing" up yesterday like the last year. It always seems to happen this way. I gotta smile I guess. :)

It's kind of a quiet day around here. We were supposed to go to my MIL's house today for awhile but now my SIL is sick and my MIL is scared to death of us "germ" infested people. So we're just going to my dad's this evening. I really don't blame my MIL for not wanting to get sick, she has emphysema and COPD. Kind of dangerous for her to get sick.

Well I hope everyone has a happy holiday. Merry Christmas, ladies!

12-24-2005, 04:51 PM
Hi, Everyone,

Just a quick introduction - I would like to be an active member of this thread, so I thought I'd say hello. I just joined the site last night.

I am a recent SAHM, and I am still adjusting. I worked for someone else from the time I was 16..and I'm 39 now. I guess I still work for someone else, our 9 1/2 week old daughter. She is beautiful, wonderful, perfect. We are adopting her, and everything should finalize by April.

So, I'm struggling more than usual with my food and weight, because I'm home all day with a kitchen and no real solid structure to my time. It probably doesn't help that I became a SAHM just in time for all the holiday baking and such to has made it that much more of a chanllenge for me to make good choices. That, and the change in my sleep pattern...well, I feel like a slug. However, as babykins gets a little older, she is on more of a schedule...her mommy needs to get on one too.

I'm planning to start a journal here, I saw there is a forum for that...and to be involved in this area too. I'm planning to get support and be support for others. I think being home working is very different from being in a non-home workplace - and it has a different set of challenges and rewards. I'm hoping those of you with more experience than me can offer me some suggestions.

I haven't weighed myself yet, but I will soon. Do you guys have a certain day that the whole group does weigh-in, or anything like that? Once I get a starting weight, I'll get one of those trackers below my signature, but for now, I'm getting familiar with the site and letting things be until Christmas is past...which is tomorrow! (yike!)

So I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday, and that I can learn and contribute here.

12-25-2005, 02:35 AM
So are you a Dr. Suess fan or are you a cat lover? Hi, I'm Chris. I'm a SAHM of three girls. I do work part-time for my dad, but that doesn't really count. Welcome to the thread. Everyone else seems to be doing family things for Christmas. I'm up just waiting for the kids to fall asleep to do my "thing".

I've been with 3fc for over a year now. The support here is great and I hope you stick with it. Its such a long hard journey made much easier with the support of others in the same boat. :) :) Looking forward to more posts by you. Have a great Christmas!

12-25-2005, 02:47 AM
Chrily, thanks so much! I am a 'cat person' for sure....and up until a couple months ago, I was a children's librarian, so 'catinhat' works for me on a couple levels. I've got an avatar (somewhere) that someone made for me too, but I have to find it, and probably re-size it :)

The 'SAH' part of 'SAHM' is really an adjustment for me...and I'll be doing some things from home to help generate some income. I have a few things 'brewing'...we'll see which ones end up making the most sense for us here.

I am going to stick with this - I have to. I want our little girl growing up healthy, and I want to be around for a lot of her life! Genetically, people in my family seem to get pretty old, but I can't take that for granted - I need to get the food issues and all resolved, once and for all. So, I'll be around, for sure!

Thanks again for the welcome - I am up waiting for hubby to get home, and it made my day that someone said hi to me!!

12-25-2005, 12:35 PM
Welcome catinhat.

I am down 1.5 this week. Woohoo!!!

12-25-2005, 01:52 PM
Morning Tracey and Cat-

We were doing so good this morning and *boom* Kayla is sick now. So I might be here at home all day with my little munchie. Poor honey.

Other than that, Christmas Eve went well. We all had a really good time at my dad's house. I didn't even overindulge in anything. Woo Hoo! :carrot:

Our house looks like a tornado went through it and I need to finish blowdrying my hair. I still have to take my brother and his wife to the airport. They're spending the rest of the holiday in Arizona with her brothers and sisters.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

12-25-2005, 08:17 PM
Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is having a GREAT Christmas!! For me we have not even begun yet, "our" Christmas is tomorrow.

Cat: :wel3fc: :welcome: to the SlimminSahmmies!! You will love it here at 3FC but i REALLY think you will love it here with the sahmmies, these ladies are an AWESOME bunch of great gals!! Let me introduce myself, my name is Alisha i live in Nashville Tennessee. I am 22 years old i have two beautiful boys named Caleb (3) and Cameron (7) unfortuntly Cameron is not biologically mine....but even though the papers don't say it, i AM his mother!! I am currently doing the Atkins diet, and excercising to Taebo. I am not sure if everyone else will agree with me but we like to weigh in on Saturdays here. Is that a good day for you? You know as far as you weighing yourself you should really do that, but MOST IMPORTANTLY you need to measure yourself.....because sometimes the scale won't show a budge but the measurements will, and thats enough to keep you going!! Good luck with EVERYONE!! We are all here for you, through the good times, and the bad!

Chris: I am sorry to here Kayla is sick, poor thing!! And on Christmas, that has really gotta suck!!

Tea: YOU GO GIRL ON THE LOSS!! :carrot: :carrot: WOOOOHOOOOO!!!

Well ladies i am going to jump off here, i hope EVERYONE has a great holiday!! Take care! Talk to you all tomorrow, or on Tuesday!!

12-25-2005, 10:24 PM
Thanks for the welcome, Alisha. I used to live in W. Ky, and my folks live not far from Paris now (way west TN). Often, when we go home, we fly into Nashville.

My little girl is adopted...well, we are in process - we should be done by the end of April. We were there from the beginning - not in the delivery room (the birth mom wanted to do that alone), but from the time she was a couple hours old, she's been with us. I've never been happier!!

I have not come up with a food program or an exercise program yet. I started a journal (what a PAIN!!!!) last night, and if I can find it again, I'll work through all that in there.

Does anyone else here have a journal? Just wondering if y'all keep them, share them, all that.

12-26-2005, 07:44 PM
Sahmmies: Hi everyone! Hope everyone had a great Christmas! We did and now my stepchildren are here for the week, and we're all having a blast. They love helping to unpack boxes so we should get a lot done this week.

How is everyone's weather? Ours is a little chilly, but very sunny and no rain/snow.

Chris: Yes, I have cats too! Always nice to meet another crazy cat lady. I've got 9, all indoors. I used to work at a vet clinic that dealt exclusively with cats; I tended to take home kittens with broken legs, just until they healed. Well, several years later I guess they're still healing!

Hey, Alisha! Hope your Christmas was good. I agree with you about the measuring vs. the weighing, but I'm a little afraid to get those first measurements! I like the "boy, my jeans are feeling looser" method, myself!

Cat: Welcome to 3fc & Slimmin' Sahmmies! Congrats on the new little one. Aren't they wonderful? I'm assuming she's your first, since you said you're also new to staying home. I've got one son, he's 16 months old. My hubby also has 2 children that live with their mom in another state, they are 13 and 10. I know what you mean about staying home being a little weird. After working for so many years, I kind of felt guilty about staying home and not making any money. But I would feel tons more guilty about leaving him with daycare while I went to work. Not that I think there is anything wrong with being a working mom, it's just not for me. I believe the job we're all doing is the most important one in the world. If we have to make some financial sacrifices because of it, so what.

Yes, I have signed up for for a journal. However, I haven't used it much yet. I would love to share it, but not until I'm actually using it on a regular basis. We tend to weigh on Saturdays in this group, it's kind of nice having the same day to weigh. I think a couple of us were already weighing on Saturdays when we started the original thread, so we've kind of just stuck with that date.

Hey Carafre, Julie, Chris, Amanda, everyone, hope you're out there somewhere and had a great holiday!

12-26-2005, 11:16 PM
Cynthia-Since you have 9 cats and worked at a vet, maybe you could help me a bit. I have 2 female cats that have decided as of late to use my carpet as a nice pee spot. They're both healthy, so I don't know what to do with them. The oldest one has had previous UTIs but the last 2 times I've taken her in, she's been clean. She had bladder crystals with the first one too. I only use Hill Science Diet because of all the problems. Any suggestions. My husband wants to get rid of the "offenders" but I don't know who would even want them. The two boy cats are kind of rowdy, so I don't know if they are just stressed from them or what? The one female was our foster kitty at first, she had a pin in her leg from a car hitting her, and she was a stray. The vet asked us to watch her while she healed and we just kept her. During her rehabilitation, she got out of the house (and got pregnant) so we have her only baby too. Of course he's full grown now.

Oh my gosh, I could write a book on my kitties. I come from a family of cat lovers. My dad had 12...but my stepmom was such a clean freak, you'd never know.

ANyhow, I did okay yesterday. Stay'd fairly on plan, and didn't do any snacking. Kayla is feeling a bit better, but she goes up and down. She's still running a fever, and now she's congested and achy. I'm betting if they did a flu culture on her, she would come back positive.

That's about it. I hope Santa brought everyone what they wanted. TTFN, and talk to you tomorrow.

12-27-2005, 12:33 AM
Cat - :welcome3: We are so happy to have you here!!! I am a SAHM to my 3 year old daughter & 16 month old son!!! I am so excited for you! I know you'll enjoy it here.

I haven't kept up lately - so sorry ladies. The infection I had spread to my right lung and is slowly getting better. I hope to be back to my old self soon. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We did. I mostly relaxed, but the kids were so cute. I weighed in Saturday - 199. So, I didn't make my goal, again but I am not gaining anymore. Let's keep our Saturday weigh in & decide on a video (anyone who wants to do this is welcome!). I haven't been able to find the Tae Bo video yet. I hope to get out this week and look. Anybody have ideas for another video? I am getting the Tae Bo video just as soon as I can. Well I better go rest. I will check in later this week.

12-27-2005, 03:28 AM
Chris, how old is your litterbox? The plastics tend to absorb the ammonia/urine smell, and if cats feel the box is not clean enough (this is based on cat whim, not actual cleanliness, lol), they may quit using it. If you've had the box(es) a long time, you may want to try getting a new one. My dad just read some big article about this on Yahoo, and was telling me all about it a couple days ago. It has to do with them feeling vulnerable if their potty place has a strong smell, because in the wild, it would make them an easy target for predators.

Wow, see? I'm good for somethin'!

-Catinhat, who has 4 cats right now :)

12-27-2005, 10:31 AM
Good Morning ladies :) I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Ours was great, the kids got WAY too much stuff, as usual (they have 3 Christmases, lol). I weighed in at 205.6!!! SO Needless to say, I will not be making my New Years Goal :( Moving on however, My next mini goal is to be 190 by 2/13/06 (my 7th wedding anniversary) And I believe that if I give myself a firm kick in the fanny and stay on program, I should be able to reach this goal. My exercise vidieo of choice right now is Crunch Fat Burning Dance Party. Its really fun, and I can REALLY feel it working my legs, lol. If only I werent so uncoordinated ;)

Cara- I hope you are feeling better
Cat- Welcome! you'll love it here :)
Cindy, Alisha, Julie and everyone else, I hope you are doing well. I'll check back in as soon as DH gives me an opportunity, lol. He's into these online gaming sites w/ the 1st person shooters and such so he has really been hogging the internet since he's off from work, LOL. Although, today he is going to be working on my leaky kitchen sink, :)

12-27-2005, 11:55 AM
Hi everyone. Don't know if I posted this yesterday but I weighed in yesterday and am down another pound and a half for a total of 16 pounds so far. But with the way I was eating yesterday and Sunday, I don't know if I'll be making my New Years goal. I hope to just get under 290 though. I'm going to be extra strict on myself the rest of the week to make up for some of the damage. Although come Saturday, I know I will be having a couple (or few) drinks to celebrate New Years, I'll just make sure to drink lots of water behind it.

What I am most happy about is that for the first time every I will be able to say that I weigh less this year than the previous year.

12-27-2005, 12:06 PM
Way to go Tracey! Good job...:cp: :cb: :flow1:

I am all psyched up and ready to get some weigh off of me this year. My main problem is getting motivated to exercise. Any tips????? Another thing is finding the time to. I'm so not a morning person, but when I exercise at night, I can't sleep. Might have to just bite the bullet and wake my lazy butt up early and get 'er done.

Anyone got suggestions for good exercise videos? I have WATP tapes and the Method all-in-one workout and the Method Core Cardio. They're all pretty good, but I'm always looking for something to try.

I've gotten my 15 mins of computer time its house time AGAIN! A never ending job. :(

12-27-2005, 10:37 PM
One of my motivators once I start exercising is some progress. So, I measure pretty much everywhere you can think of to take a measurement...then re-measure every so often. Losing inches is a real exciting thing for me.

Mini goals help me too...and sometimes I have to be mean to myself and say things like 'You can get on the computer and talk to your friends AFTER you (fill in the thing I don't wanna do here).' And...if I give it any thought at all, I feel GOOD when I keep myself on track, and I feel frustrated when I don't. I deserve better than that...sometimes just spending a minute thinking that way can really help.

12-28-2005, 12:16 AM
Cynthia and Cat-Thanks for the cat tips. I'm going to get new boxes because it has been a while and maybe put them in a different room. I have their food and water and catboxes in the laundry room right now. It's an old habit because we had a bassett hound that liked to lunch on the catfood and other cat "things" from the box.

I think I am going to have to be hard on myself again. I used to tell myself that I could not get on the computer until I worked out and I actually stuck with it for awhile. Sometimes I need to hear the suggestion from someone else to jog my memory to remember some of the tried and true things I have done in the past.

I've been organizing the kitchen with my dh tonight and trying to keep the tantrums from the peanut gallery to a minimum. My 3 yr old is acting up but my hubby thinks its probably because Kayla is sick and getting more attention than Nicole.

See you all in the morning.

I got to update my computer for Christmas. Reformating always makes it hard to post for a few days. I'm hopelessly behind, I hope everyone had a great holiday. I'm up 4-4.5 though I'm sure at least half of that is water.

12-28-2005, 10:15 AM
Good Morning Ladies! How is everyone doing? Good i hope. Sorry i have not posted in a couple of days, Monday was "our" Christmas, so we had a family day. It was nice. And then Tuesday i took the kids to the park for a couple of hours and had a picnic lunch and then came home and cleaned, cleaned, and cleaned some more.....And then i was tired so i went to bed. Unfortuntly like most of us, i don't think i will make my goal either...i am so MAD  at myself. But i guess it won't do me no good to be mad for too long. I do want to atleast be at 185 by the end of January. I think i can do it if i work hard!! Atleast there is no more temptations like HOLIDAY food!!

Cynthia: I am glad you had a good Christmas. Thats great that your step children will help you with the "cleanup" PS: I agree with the "my jeans are feeling loose" method too ;)

Cara: You poor thing!! Take it easy get LOTS of rest!!

Amanda: Doesn't it always seem like the GET SO MUCH!! Before i am affraid i didn't make it even for all the kids, but then afterwards, i am like WOO!! :dizzy: Don't stress the goal, as long as you have made yourself a new goal thats GREAT!!

Chris: Try excercising before dinner....that way you still have time before you go to bed, so you will be ready for bed, but so you can sleep in if you want too without having to get up early to work out. Stay with it!

Tea: You GO GIRL!!! :carrot: Great job on loosing!!

Julie: Don't stress the happens to all of us. Stay strong!!

Cat: I think Mini-Goals are GREAT!! You have such a great attitude towards loosing!! You go girl!!

Well ladies it is time for me to jump off here....have a GREAT day ladies i will chat with you all later!!

12-28-2005, 10:23 AM
Good morning ladies! I am so ready for school to start back, LOL. I cant get anything done around here when the kids are home, and I can forget trying to do my workout videos while they are here, lol. Bless their little hearts, they try to do the exercises, but we just dont have that much room in here, LOL. So I guess I'm stuck w/ spongebob until the 3rd, lol. Seriously though, I have SO much housework to do, I guess I can count that as a workout :)

Tracy: Congrats on the pound lost!! :carrott:
Julie: My desktop need reformatting, but since I use the laptop most of the time, I'll let my DH deal with it, LOL. That pc is used mostly for his gaming, lol. I hate dealing w/ all the technical stuff involved, but my hubby is a computer geek.

Anyways I gotta get off here I think the kids are trying to fight (again)
I'll check in later

12-29-2005, 09:45 AM
Good Morning how is everyone doing, good i hope? I just wanted to pop in and say hello, before i am off to get some laundry done for the day and get some cleaning done....Yippeeee    Oh well i guess someone has to do it, right? Cause i know the hubby won't!! And it sure won't do itself. Anyways.....

Amanda: Isn't it cute when the little ones try and workout with you, my 3 year old, LOVES IT when i workout, he actually does it with me, and he does a pretty good job doing Taebo, its the cutest thing!!

Cara,Julie,Cynthia,Chris,Tea, Cat how are you ladies doing?

Well i am going to jump off here, i will chat with you all later......

Have a GREAT day!!

12-29-2005, 10:58 AM
Hey there everyone. Well, I can't believe that 2006 is only two days away. Where does the time go??? I am almost sure that I won't be making my New Years goal but I'm okay with that. I am just so proud of what I have accomplished so far. I've never stuck with anything this long. I still have some tweaking to do as far as my eating habits. I've found that I've been allowing myself to be a little more lenient so I need to tighten up. lol But I've already joined in with some others from the site to do a April Fools challenge so I am looking forward to that.

It's a very rainy day today and I have to go to the doctor. I called him and asked if he could just call in a prescription for me since the refills ran out and he is making me come in and I know he is going to have me sit there all day since I am seeing him as a walk-in. So I'm off to give the teababy and I some breakfast and then I am out the door. I hope I don't get too wet.

Take care everyone...

12-29-2005, 11:52 PM
Howdy, Not much happening here. I did good yesterday and even exercised. I did great with eating today until this afternoon. I forgot to take a healthy snack to work and ate some candy...that set off an afternoon binge.

Sorry to see so many of you all sick. Kayla (my middle daughter) is finally starting to feel a little better. Thank Goodness. She missed over half of her vacation from school...but I guess that's better than missing out on school.

So what is everyone doing for the New Year Eve? Not much here. I plan on renting movies and staying home and safe. I can't drink anyhow. My medications don't permit it. Kind of takes the fun out of it all...the little funsuckers...

I'm going to check on my little ones and see if they are doing their rooms. This house is going to be back in shape before ya know it. We did our room tonight and got rid of all the clutter and clothes we don't wear. I'm tired of being disorganized.

This is going to be a whole different year for me. I'm going to get the rest of this weight off me if it kills me...;) and my house is going to be clean...we're talking Martha Stewart clean!

Talk to you tomorrow.

~ chris

I had a decent day today - we are working on organizing our basement. We built this house about a year and a half ago (well, it took us a couple years - we did most of the work...but we moved in about a year and a half ago). The last couple weeks, we put an epoxy coating on the basement floor - so we had to move everything to one side....paint the clear side...then move everything onto the painted part...paint the rest. Now, we're sorting out 'rooms'. We will be finishing the basement this spring/summer, so we're figuring out what we want where. It's kinda fun!

I had a really yummy salad for supper - romaine lettuce, chopped apple, diced muenster cheese, some bits of pecan and sliced and chopped turkey (lowfat) pepperoni. A little poppyseed dressing, and a whole wheat bread stick...I really enjoyed it :)

I also found the book I want to use for my 'program' last's 'The Solution' by Laurel Mellin. It deals with all the different aspects I struggle with - emotional eating, decent nutrition...helps you learn skills to put things in a more balanced state, check your progress periodically, and either stay in balance, or get back in balance. I used it before, but I kinda did it 'in secret'. I'm hoping that by sharing a little as I go, it will stick better this time.

Well, I hope everyone had a great day. Take care!

12-30-2005, 01:37 PM
Does anyone on here deal with binge eating? My weight loss doctor has me diagnosed with a binge eating disorder.

So are we all going to weigh in on Saturdays from now on? I think it would be an awesome idea. Something to keep us on track and motivated would be great!

My cat is killing my screen on the window to come in. I better get going and get my day started. I got to sleep in until 9:45. I never get to do that and it felt sooo goood.

12-30-2005, 02:41 PM
I got my C25K workout in yesterday. I can't quite complete the week 4 day 1 yet, though I'm converting from timed jogging, to distance jogging, and I jog quite slow to prevent injury. Yesterday I jogged 1 mile, though that was broken down into 3 jogs.

Alisha, that's cute about your 3 year old working out with you. :D

For new years eve we always have a birthday party for my DH. He'll be 26 this year.

My new years goal is to jog a 5k and to lose 50 pounds. I can nearly jog 1k, but I still have a lot of training to do.

Tracey, you can do it!

cat, sounds like your place is coming together :)

chris sorry about the diagnosis. I binge eat sometimes too. Not sure what you can do, maybe the doctors will have some idea.

12-31-2005, 02:03 AM
Chris, sometimes I struggle with compulsive eating...sometimes it's not a large quantity...rather I'll graze on stuff I don't really want/need all day, but sometimes, it does come up as a binge. It can be really frustrating, but there are books out there with tips and strategies that can help us overcome this. From what I understand, it is a behavior...and as a behavior, it can be changed.

I hope everyone had a great day. Mine was pretty good. I got some things done that I wanted to get done, and my brain has been working good today...lots of good, creative ideas. More on all that after I get them a little more developed.

Had a couple of interesting conversations with hubby lately. I get the sense that he thinks I stay home and kinda hang out all day. He was asking me about working part time on the days he's off. It might be a good would mean he'd be totally responsible for caring for Kitteninhat for the entire day. Right now, if I ask him to care for her while I take a shower, he does...he plays with her...if she gets hungry, he will come tell me she is crying, ask me why (because I can use my supermommy powers to telepathically ask the baby why she is crying???) and then feed her...but heaven forbid she needs to be changed! It might be good for him to see just how busy a little baby can keep a person all day.

I guess this gets under my skin a little bit because since I became a SAHM, he hasn't had to cook or clean anything...his laundry has magically appeared in his dresser and closet, his lunch is in his cooler for work every day...they are all little things, but they do add up. I guess we're all adjusting right now...sigh.

How is everyone else doing?

12-31-2005, 10:34 AM
Good Morning Ladies! How is everyone doing? Good i hope! Everyone ready for 2006? Where does time go, this year too me has gone by so fast, what about everyone else? Does anyone have any New Years goals? Mine is to loose 5-10pounds a month to reach my goal by June of 06! Gosh, i really hope i can do it.....Girls kick me in the butt when i feel like giving up or i cheat too much. We all gotta have a cheat every once in awhile....maybe i will allow myself one or two a month...keep it real, you know? Anyone doing anything for New Years? I am not, i like Chris is staying in for the night, maybe rent some movies.....i don't want to be out on the road with the drunk drivers that i AM SURE will be out there. Here in TN they have a new law that takes place tonight at 12:00pm that if you get caught drinking and driving instead of spending two nights in jail you spend one night in jail and then you have to do 3 8hours of trash clean up while wearing an orange jacket or shirt that says i am a drunk driver. I think that is FUNNY!! Anyways.....

Julie: You are doing such an awesome job with the C25K! I am so proud of you, and admire you....send me some of your strength.....I wish i could make it through week 1, something always comes up. But i really want to make a change this year, cause i really enjoy doing it, and i feel so great afterwards.

Chris: I guess i would say i binge eat. But i think more than binge eat i am a BIG emotional eater. What about you?

Hi Amanda, Cara, Cynthia,Tea, Cat everyone! How are you guys doing?

Well ladies i am going to jump off here gotta go make breakfast for the kiddies....Have a great day everyone, and for those who are going out, PLEASE, PLEASE be SAFE!!

Happy New Years EVERYONE!! :newyear: Talk to you all in 2006!!

12-31-2005, 12:09 PM
Alisha-I am with you! I want to be at goal by June too. I've gotta get moving and quit snitching food all day long. I just need to focus on this more than what I have been.

Cat-My hubby is like that too. He has a tendency to think I don't do much all day long, but kids really do keep you busy.

Julie-You are doing great with your Couch/5K! I wish I had the drive to do something like that.

My sister has joined a local health club and asked if I would join too. I would love to but just not sure if I want all those skinny people watching my flabby butt and body shaking around. I am soooo worried about what people think of me. I guess since I'm not "fond" of my body, that I don't want any attention drawn to me.

Hi all you other gals. The kids are starting their fighting. What a normal morning! Ahh...the first tattle tell session of the day. ;) I suppose I should go mediate and then get some junk done for the day. Check back later this afternoon.

12-31-2005, 12:21 PM
Cat - It is such an adjustment. My DH works nights but always helps out. I learned very fast that #1. I simply can't do it all. #2 Since we are in this together, let's help eachother. Dh watches kids in am so I can do whatever. Then he sleeps. When he gets up in the afternoon, he plays w/ the kids while I get dinner ready. We take turns doing dishes. I usually do the bulk of the laundry, but when I get behind, he helps us get caught up. Anyway, we do what works b/c the key is not to start resenting eachother. Talk. It will become easier as the days go on. Being a SAHM is very hard work. In all aspects. Good luck!!

Alisha - howdy there! Still home w/ pneumonia. I will be out of commision until next weekend. DH took off from work to take care of our children and he is having a time! So amusing. I do believe he finally gets the big picture!! He was up last night w/ the kids. They took turns waking up & They were ok, just having one of those nights. Well this am when I finally woke up he said he needed to take a nap!!!  Ha - I never get one after those kind of nights! He's a lightweight! Just kidding - it's cute and I am secretly happy that I am missed & needed!!! Hope you are doing better. Can't wait to kick next year's butt as far as losing all of this weight!!! It's our year, girl!!!!!!! ;)

Cindy. Mode, Julie, chris , Amanda, Tea & everyone hello hope you are well. I gotta go take meds & rest HA!!! First time off I've had in 3 years!!!! Just wish I wasn't sick!

12-31-2005, 01:08 PM
Yes, the year has gone by way too fast. I look at my daughter and think about what she looked like at the beginning of the year and now she is so big. Why can't they stay babies forever???

I'm staying in tonight. Well, I'm going out during the day. I want to go to Target and pick up some toys for Mikayla. My mom gave me some money to go out and get her some things. I know she will be so excited when she realizes why we are there. Then we are in for the night. My brother lives with me so we will be buying a bottle of something or other, ordering some food, throwing on some music and bringing in the New Year with a little style. We'll probably end up watching some movies too. If we are going to Target, he'll probably end up buying some movies. He is so addicted to buying movies. lol

Anyway, everyone be safe out there tonight. Have fun and celebrate all that you have accomplished this year. Love to you all...

12-31-2005, 08:59 PM
Good evening ladies. My little Haleigh has been sick for the last few days, so that is why I've been offline. Poor thing has been coughing really bad and running a fever. Though she seems to be feeling better today :)

I weighed this morning at 206.0 So I end the year 12lbs less than I started it :) I have 61 pounds to reach my Goal of 145. I'm psyched and ready to get back on track. The kids being home has really thrown me off, lol. But I'm going grocery shopping monday and I am going to get some healthier foods in the house... We ALL need to eat better, I talked DH into weighing yesterday and he is up to 270!!! I couldnt believe it, and with his knee problems, he really needs to shape up. I am hoping that when he sees how well i am doing he will just kind of start following along w/o realizing it, lol. Plus I am going to make our meals w/ leaner meats and more veggies. We will all benefit from that.

Anywho, DH wants to play his video games again so i gotta go. I'll talk to you ladies tomorrow:

P.S. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!

12-31-2005, 10:17 PM
Amanda, Sounds like your little one has the same thing mine did. Kayla started out sick on Christmas morning and ran a fever through Thursday. She's better now but still has the cough. It's that lovely time of year.

Not much New Year's action here. My hubby got a second-hand Neptune washer from a friend and he's redoing it so that we can have our nice little front-load washer to start out the new year with. They're supposed to use 2/3 less water and stuff, and when we get out new dryer...I'll be a laundry doing unit. God only knows how many loads of laundry we do a week. 3 kids and 2 adults...hmmm..

Happy New Year everyone. This year is going to be IT! I got 46 lbs to go and I'm going to do it....

01-01-2006, 10:17 AM
Happy New Year!!! Well ladies, here we are in 2006!!! We made it, and most of us have already started out with an advantage of already have losing some weight! I am so proud of ALL of you for the goals you accomplished in 05' and i KNOW that 06' is going to be the year of all years for all of us! It will be a change in OURSELFS! And not for anyone else! FOR US!! Keep up the good work girls!!

Cara: You poor thing!! I am glad your hubby is there to help. I really hope you get to feeling better soon! Don't rush it, just take it easy, WE MISS YOU BUNCHES!! And we all want you on here posting as much as possible but MORE than anything we want you to GET BETTER!!

Cynthia: Ohhhhh Cynthia where are you crazy girl!??  Are you out partying?? :carrot: Just kidding, how are you doing?

Chris: I think it would be a good idea for you to join the health club. Trust me people are not there to watch you.....and besides you need not to worry about what other people think about you, atleast you are deciding to make a change, right? Your not just sitting on the couch doing nothing....if they can't admire that then there JERKS!! Good luck in whatever you decide!!

Amanda: You go girl on those 12 pounds gone forever!!! Keep it up!! I don't know about you, but the one thing i find hard about dieting is no support from my hubby. I mean he tries to be supportive, but not really. My hubby needs to loose some wieght too, but i just don't think he realizes that it is going to take more than "cutting back" it is going to take a LIFESTYLE change, you know?

Tea: How old is your brother, mine is 20 and he is ADDICTED to buying movies too!! And isn't it so hard when you look at them and they have grown up so fast, sometimes i want another baby, but i know financially and emotionally i only want two, but gosh i SURE do miss my Caleb bieng a baby, he is going to be 4 in July....4......OMG!!!!! :o :o :o :o :o    Ok sorry needed to vent.

Well ladies it is time for me to jump of here, gotta go make breakfast for the kiddos!! I will chat with you ladies later!! Have a GREAT NEW YEARS DAY!!!

01-01-2006, 10:49 AM
Welcome to the 1st day of 2006 Ladies!!

Alisha, I think my hubby is the same as yours, lol. He says he is supportive, but he doesnt show it. And the biggest reason he has gained so much weight, is that all his life, his mom has encouraged (made) him eat double or triple size portions of whatever he ate, just because "he's a man and he needs more food" and now he still carries those habits w/ him...It makes me sick to watch him eat sometimes, but I just keep my mouth shut, I know that if I nag him about it he'll never change just to spite me

Chris: It does seem like the kids STAY sick this time of year...All this was new to me when I had my 1st baby, because my siblings and I NEVER got more than a cold or stomach virus when we were growing up, lol. The only time I remember going to the dr for being sick, was when I caught pink eye in kindergarten, lol. But Christian and Haleigh both stayed sick from the time they were born and Luckily, they dont get sick as often as they used to.

Cara: Hope you feel better soon. Doesn't it suck that we have to get a serious illness to get a break?!

Everyone else: Happy New year, and I hope you're doing well.

I have to go pick up Christian from his nana's house. I'll check in later :)

01-01-2006, 12:14 PM
Alisha, my brother is 25. He loves buying movies, even if he's never seen it before which to me is a waste of money because you don't actually know if you are going to like it or not. But I digress.

I'm starting the year at 291 pounds. I didn't lose this week but that's okay because I haven't been particularly eating well so I'm just glad I didn't gain. But I'm back on track now.

01-01-2006, 03:28 PM
Hey All...did you survive the night? We rung in the New Year watching the Ring 2.

Alisha-I talked to my hubby about the health club last night and he said it sounds like a good idea and that I could go ahead and spend the money. I guess I'll just go ahead and not worry about what everyone thinks.

Amanda-I always have one sick it seems. My littlest and my oldest both have asthma so things just hang on alot longer for them.

Hi all you other girls. Not much time for getting personal with everyone. I have to go to the airport and pick up my brother and SIL. They spent the Christmas holiday in Arizona.

Check back later when I get a chance. My daughter, Tiana, my mom, and I are going to play in the fabric store for a while this afternoon.

01-01-2006, 03:55 PM
Hi Ladies! Well, it's a new year for all of us. We all WILL be smaller by the time this year ends. Every one of us! Let's stick with it.

I'm sorry I haven't been posting, I've been busy painting and hanging out with my stepkids. This house needs new paint, flooring, etc. in EVERY room, so I'll be busy for the next couple years (and broke!). I've completely finished one room, the guest room, and it really looks nice despite the fact I'm an amateur painter (don't look close or you'll see the drips!). It's mostly yellow and blue, kind of a French country look. Next: Dryden's room. Probably some sort of green.

I also haven't been posting because I'm not eating right yet (still more holiday junk) and not exercising too much, unless you count moving furniture. I'll get back into it when the kids go back home. One of our New Year's Eve traditions with the kids has always been to get junk food (Doritos, Bagel Bites, etc.) and watch tv all evening. But last night I added a veggie tray to our selection, so I was rather proud of that choice!

Did anyone catch Dick Clark on ABC? He was looking okay, but the stroke left him with a bit of a speech impediment. Poor guy, but he seemed like he was enjoying the evening immensely, and I'm sure he was so sad to miss it last year. Good for him, I hope he had fun. And did anyone catch Mariah Carey? I've NEVER liked her musical style, but one thing I noticed was she had gained quite a bit of weight since I last remember seeing her. But as my hubby pointed out, it's better than the current celebrity trend of looking like a skeleton (the type that usually makes me say, "C'mon, eat a potato chip, just one!"). So I say good for Mariah Carey, even though that outfit was rather skimpy.

Congrats to those SAHMmies out there who have continued to lose during the holidays. And to those (like me) who have gained, just wait, they're almost over and we can get serious again.

I'll see you guys again in a couple days. Have a great day!

Cindy B.:newyear:

01-01-2006, 05:49 PM
Happy New Years Ladies!!!!!!!

:carrot: I'm sure this will be a slimmin year for us all. :carrot:

I would really love to lose all my weight this year, but my goal for the year is 50 pounds. I figure if I want to get pregnant with my 3rd and last baby sometime around June or July of next year, that leaves me with about 1.5 years to lose around 75 pounds. 25 pounds every 6 months is my goal.

Alisha, Thanks :) I've tried to get through Week 4 day 1 twice and have been unable to complete the day. I'll keep trying, and hopefully I can soon. I can jog for half a mile straight now, and a mile a workout. :tread:

Cat, I think it would be good for your DH to learn to take his turn changing diapers. lol We have 2 little kittens in diapers, and we usually go by the policy if you smell it, you change it. :D Though I am a SAHM and change most the diapers, hubby changes quite a few while he is home.

Chris, I used to have a gym membership, and I loved it. It is even better if you have someone to go with. I figured if there was one place that skinny people would like to see a fat person, it would be the gym. ;)

Tea, I agree that they grow way too fast, my baby was in preemie clothes last year. Now she's walking all over the place :( It seems to happen overnight.

Cynthia, count me in on the not eatting right or exercising much group. lol Yesterday was my husbands birthday, so of course we had cake and ice cream.:dizzy:

Alisha, we did make it yay!

Amanda, I hope your little one feels better.

01-01-2006, 05:51 PM

I am a SAHM of 4 littles..ages 6,5, almost 3, and almost 6 months. As you can well imagine..the pounds have crept on..and on. I am wayyyyy too young to be this unfit, (but hopefully once I get it off for good this time it will be too unfit at any time!). We have a family membership at the Y, but my hubby is disabled with arthritis and so it is usually just me that goes when I can manage..taking all 4 children is really overwhelming for me in such an active place. :)

Anyways, I hope that I can be an encouragement to you ladies and I hope that 2006 is a great year!

01-01-2006, 06:37 PM
Hi, Snoopysgirl! Wow - 4 kids...I bet you're more fit than you might think, just keeping everyone safe! I am pretty new here....also a new SAHM, to our little girl. She will be 11 weeks old on Tuesday! She is awesome, and we just love her to pieces! I lived in Portage, IN when I was in middle-high school, and I have lots of relatives in that part of the world....LaPorte, Union Mills, all that. I was just there this past summer!

I'm working on getting a better 'posting habit' for here. I want to thank everyone for the support about my situation with hubby - I think y'all are right, and I just need to leave him home with the baby on one of his days off. He said something last night about how he thought I'd have this and that done, since I was home all day and night. He isn't being mean, really, but I am in a bit of a sleep deprived state, and taking everything he says in the most sensitive way. Mostly, he is just ignorant..but I actually do need to go to town and buy some business supplies, and it would be SO much faster without Kitten. So, perhaps Wednesday (when he is off) I can tAke the morning and make a trip to town.

I weighed myself on Saturday morning, and I have 100.5 pounds that I want and need to lose. I am scared by how big that number is...because I have been at this long enough to know a lot of ways to 'lose 10 pounds fast'. The thing is, I can't keep playing around like that - I need to make some quality changes in the way I spend my time, the foods we eat, all of that. So, from the beginning, my little mantra is going to be 'progress, not perfection'. The numbers on the scale DO need to go down, but the lifestyle changes are the crucial thing here.

So...I'm happy to report that I've been walking every nice day - lately, that's been every day. About a mile and a half, with the jogging stroller (not that I'm jogging - we live on a gravel road, and a regular stroller with those little wheels would vibrate the baby half apart!). Getting out, getting fresh air and sunshine - it all feels just great. Unfortunately, today is very windy - a bit too much to have the baby out...but I did get outside a bit for some fresh air before daddy left for work.

Then...actually, this might sound silly, but I'm really proud of myself for this. After hubby left for work, I was faced with choices. Kitten was asleep....I hadn't had lunch and it was about 1pm. I wanted to eat something and get on the computer, but I stopped myself and kinda checked in with 'me'. I realized that what I really needed was some rest - I was really tired, and already thinking 'Coca cola will help me wake up'. So, I went to bed, and got about an hour of nap before the baby woke. I feel lots better...I'm still not hungry for lunch, and I'm feeling good about taking care of myself by doing what I really needed to do.

So, yeah, I just said 'yay me' for taking a nap! Only another SAHM would understand, lol.

Things seem like they are going well. I appreciate everyone here, and the encouragement that I find here. Here's to a great year, working together!!

01-02-2006, 12:13 AM
Cat, I guess I didn't realize how little your baby is. You are in a hard spot. I remember being so sleep deprived and out of whack..and having the baby blues. The first baby is always the hardest because you are still trying to adjust to having a new little one in the house and you're still tired...even after 11 weeks, you're body is still trying to go back to normal. I remember those days. My first husband wasn't much help with my daughter but my second husband was a huge difference. The first night I brought Kayla home, he was the one that slept under the baby swing, winding it up all night, feeding her, and changing her diapers, so that I could rest. I took advantage of that and when she was a little older, I'd "fake" I was sleeping so he would do it all. ;) How evil! My last little girl...Nicole who is 3..was all mine. He was on to me after Kayla so he didn't fall for my sleeping ruse so much. Oh well.

Welcome Snoopy's Girl! I have been posting on 3fc for over a year now and this is such a wonderful web site. I hope to get to know you better. My name's Chris and I have three girls to keep me busy, but not enough to stay out of the no'no food I guess.

Julie-I'm going to go in on Tuesday I guess and sign up at the health club. THe other people will just have to deal with my bod. :D I need it!

Thanks, Chris. Actually, the baby has been pretty wonderful, compared to some of the stories I've heard. From the first night in the hospital, she has only gotten up once a night, max. Thing is, I go to bed at midnight, she gets up around 4, 4:30...then sleeps until about 8 or so....but even though that sounds pretty good, I think it's the interruption in my sleep. Plus, she's still not super 'regulated', though we're trying. I mean, some nights she's up at 4ish...others it's 6 ish. She's getting better and better at sleeping through...but we're still working on it, lol. One thing, because she's adopted, I don't have the physical recovery of my own, or the biological part of 'baby blues'. I do, however, think that all the changes have tossed me for a bit of a spin. Hubby is trying too - he's not being evil...I know that part of the problem is that I'm overtired and I take whatever he says as negatively as I can. However, he hasn't gotten up with her once. There have been a couple nights she got up at 3, and he was still up (and fed her), but other than that, it's always me. With his work schedule, though, I think it's the best option...I just need to give him a chunk of the daytime that she's 'all daddy's girl'. It will be good for all three of us.

OK, enough whining from me - good night!

Here's to a great tomorrow!

Good morning ladies. I feel horrible this morning...Last night was one of those nights where I woke up every couple of hours, and i am pretty sure I have caught whatever it is that Haleigh has (so has DH) Soon I am going to run DH out of bed so I can rest for a while, lol. I bet he'll appreciate that ;) Anyways... I did pretty well yesterday, except i didnt drink any water, but I will do better w/ that today. I think my personal challenge for this week will be to get in at least 48oz of water daily. I think that when I take Christian to school this week, I will stop by the town's walking track for a quick walk (if it isnt raining) I have ALOT of housework to catch up on this week also.

Anywho, the kiddies are hungry, so i gotta get off here and fix them something to eat.
I'll check in later,

Snoopy: Welcome to 3fc and Slimmin' Sahmmies! Always room for one more (and the more we slim down, the more room there will be, ha-ha!)

Cat: I must have missed the post where you were asking about advice for your husband's adjusting to the baby. Here's my 2 cents: Since, like you, I was new to staying at home and it felt weird, I would ask my hubby each morning if there was anything around the house he would like me to do while he was at work. Sometimes he wanted something done (update Quicken, compare cell phone plans, other small projects like that), more often than not he would say "Just take care of yourself and the baby". But that way I felt better about just staying around the house playing with the baby (which, although it was my new job, was very fun!), and he got the chance to let me know of a project that he would like done. Maybe that would help with your hubby.

Another thing that helped was organizing my chores. There are certain things that I do every day for obvious reasons (dishes, scoop litterboxes, straighten up), but I scheduled weekly chores for certain days (e.g., bathrooms on Tuesdays, vacuuming on Fridays, etc.). If you can organize your days in a similar way, maybe letting your husband know your schedule will help his perception of your daily activities.

And make sure you keep taking those naps when you can! You've already realized how much it helps. Even though you didn't physically give birth, you still need that extra rest and recovery because you're losing sleep every night as well as adjusting to a completely different way of life. When the baby sleeps, take the opportunity to nap yourself and don't feel guilty about it. I got to the point where I would take a 20 minute nap as soon as I put The Sir down for his morning nap; without fail I would wake after 20 minutes and actually felt refreshed.

Sorry to be so long-winded; hubby and stepkids are watching the bowl games and I'm sitting here with them typing away because I could care less about football.

Hello to everyone else, hope you're having good days! Talk to you later!

01-03-2006, 10:45 AM
 Good Morning Ladies! How is everyone doing? Good i hope! I am doing good, except my legs, arms, butt HURTS......OMG!! Taebo Bootcamp workout....will kick your BUTT!!! I have only just begun and i am ALREADY FEELING IT BIG TIME!!! :dizzy: Its great though, i know i will see results with this, if i already feel it and i didn't even finish it all the way through. WOW!! Anyways............

Snoopy: :wel3fc: and most importantly :welcome3: to the SLIMMINSahmmies! Of course there is room for one more!! There is always room for more!! I really hope you like it here, these ladies are an awesome bunch of GREAT ladies!! Good luck with your goals we are all here for you!! :carrot:

Cynthia: Good job on throwing in a little veggies on a night full of go girl!! And oh yeah about Mariah....i think she ALWAYS dresses like a hoochie mamama....i mean your right atleast she isn't stick then, but you are right she has put on some weight......and to be wearing what she wears i think only makes her look bigger!

Amanda: Take it easy!! Don't over due it and get REALLY sick like Cara!! I think this is just the time of the year for EVERYONE to be sick!! Darn Germs!!

Julie: OMG!! You can run a 1/2 mile!! You go girl!! WOW! Thats so great!! You are doing Soooo good!!

Chris: I am very proud that you are deciding to join that Gym!! That is such a big step in becoming a more fit and healthy person!! You go girl!! And don't worry about other people!! All that matters is what you think!!

Well ladies, i have a confession. I am no longer "dieting" well by that i mean i am no longer doing the Atkins diet! I am tired of everytime i take a day off or have a slice of pizza or some corn i gain a pound or more i am officially just watching what i eat, measure my portions, and count calories,fat,carbs,sugar,sodium....i did it yesterday and today i am three pounds lighter than i was when i started, i know it is water weight...but its great too see usually i have to eat no carbs for a couple of days to see it. So i am HOPING AND PRAYING that just watching what i eat, is enough to help me loose and more importantly KEEP IT OFF!! Have a great day ladies!!! I will chat with you all later!!

01-03-2006, 11:48 AM
Alisha - that Bootcamp is serious business. Believe me, if you stick with it you will definitely see results. I noticed muscle tone after just a couple of weeks of doing it. And I know what you mean about giving up Atkins, it wasn't for me for that same reason.

Well ladies, I am officially back on track today. I have been doing horribly and the scale says I gained five pounds. I'm hoping that's mostly water weight. So, I have to dust off Billy and get back to business. I haven't seen him since last Wednesday and he probably misses me. lol

01-03-2006, 12:10 PM
Good morning ladies. I am feeling a *little* better today, although I didnt sleep well again last night, but I have armed myself w/ nyquil for tonight , LOL...That should give me a few hours of sleep uninterupted by coughing and such. I ended up keeping Haleigh home from school today, she was running a mild fever again this morning...GRRR...I wish this Crud would go away, lol. The only one of us who ISNT sick is Christian, but I'm sure he'll catch it w/in a couple of days, I hate this time of year

I bought myself a new sports bra today (one that lifts and separates....No more Uni-Boob, ROFLOL), and a couple of 5lb dumbbells so I can start doing some strength training, I got some fitness bands for Christmas so I should be able to come up w/ a decent workout...

Alisha: I agree 100% although I have to admit (knocking on wood as I say this) I have never had pneumonia, or strep throat. Until I got preggers w/ Christian I could count on 1 hand the # of times I had been to the dr for being sick. I suppose growing up in a large family has its advantages ;)

Cindy: Men really don't understand how much work is involved w/ keeping house and taking care of kids. I have had my DH come home to a spotless house and say "So, have to DONE anything today?" Hmmm..Lets see, where do I start, LOL. I just wanted to slap him, lol. OH well what can you do ?

Cara, I hope you are feeling better  Take it easy and get well

Well, I'll end my novel now. I gotta get busy on the house

01-03-2006, 12:51 PM
Good morning...ladies.
I called my sister on the phone and she's gonna go with me to join the gym. She went yesterday to work out and she says that all that was there was some old guys. I feel better...I was worried about all the skinny little lycra clad blonde bombshells.

Amanda-I had to laugh! The uniboob...too much, girl! I loved it. I hope ya start feeling better. I've had pneumonia...and it sucked. I'm hoping you get better soon. All this stuff going around is starting to get to me too.

Alisha-I never tried Atkins, but I did South Beach and when I started eating carbs, I gained back the weight too. Right now I am going through the weight loss center at our hospital. I'm doing a higher protein diet but still eating carbs (only the healthy ones) and it works pretty good as long as I stay within my calorie limit they have for me.

Cara-Haven't heard from you for a bit either. Are you still sick? Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Hi Cynthia! I missed part of the Mariah Carey discussion, but FYI I think she looks like she's a touch larger than she used to be and on anybody, I have always hated when people who are heavy try to stuff themselves in clothes that are too small. It does make them look larger. It makes a person look heavier too, when you wear too large of clothes. My mom and I were talking about that the other day. I was always wearing big tees and then i finally bought some that are my size and I look so much thinner, even though my weight is the same. I can't stand wearing stuff that is too small though.

Julie-1/2 mile? I'd be dead if I tried that. My lungs would be on fire and my legs would fall off. Way to go!

I may have forgotten some people (sorry) but I have got to get my butt busy and finish my folding clothes so I can get to my sister's house. Talk to you later.

01-03-2006, 07:39 PM

I am so excited. Thanks for the encouragement you all gave me.

01-03-2006, 10:38 PM
chris - congrats!!!!! :carrot: I am so excited for you! You are on your way.

I haven't had a chance to read all that I've missed - promise to catch up later. I've been upset & down b/c I still am not "released" to exercise. I want to so bad. I tried to dance w/ the kiddies yesterday and i felt awful. So, I have until Monday (my dr. check-up) to stay ay home and stew. I will not say anymore. I am sneaking out tomorrow to get the bootcamp video. I am starting Monday night :crossed: if all is well. I may only be able to do 15 or 20 minutes but what the heck, I gotta start somewhere.

Hello to all , newbies & friends alike. I will check in later tonight.

01-03-2006, 11:55 PM
Wow - sounds like everyone is doing great! We had a big day too - I had things to do in town, so baby and I went and ran around pretty much all day. She is so wonderful - she will sleep/eat/play anywhere. We went by the foster/adopt agency we are licensed through to do some volunteering, and she got so many snuggles! It was great to see her interacting with other people and all.

I want to thank y'all for all the suggestions about helping hubby and I transition into the whole SAHM thing. I had already done a lot of that - in fact, I made 'day of the week' index cards with the stuff I need to get done on a given day. It was working OK, then hubby signed up for a different shift at work - went to 4-10 hour days instead of 5 days a week, and it threw everything off. I need to re-do those cards!

My eating was good today, and I made awesome choices in the grocery store. I have given myself a 'present' of a little time to be online right now, then I'm going upstairs to get some chores done, grind some wheat, make some bread dough...blah blah blah. It's been a long day, but a good one. I hope everyone else is well!

01-03-2006, 11:57 PM

Im bad, I went on a 2 month Hiatus from you guys. So I guess I will reintroduce myself. My name is Jenny I am 21 and want to look it. I used to weigh 140 pounds then I had two kids, now I am at about 205. I had gotten my self down to 194 before I had my emergency surgery and since then have gain all the weight I lost back. I am ready to get back on track and be healthy for my girls. Plus I wouldnt mind looking hot in a swimsuit. So here I am.

01-04-2006, 12:00 AM
Carafre! Nice to see you again. PLEASE do not overdo it, okay? Start small (that probably means no Taebo, but like you say if you just do a few minutes you should be okay). I saw that Jenny posted on our first thread, she's back! I sent her a PM letting her know about Slimmin' SAHMmies 2, hopefully we'll see her soon.

So, is the Bootcamp workout the official tape we'll be doing? I'll have to get it next time I'm at Target, if I can find it. Sounds good to me!

Chris: Congrats on joining the club! You will like it, I'm sure. I belonged to Gold's Gym and went faithfully until I got pregnant. The only complaint I have is the expense, but some gyms are priced better than others. I really wanted to take some of their classes, but never got a chance to.

Amanda: Uniboob, that cracked me up! I'm sorry to hear you are all still sick. I'm like you, though; before getting pregnant I never went to the doctor. Not even for my yearly exam (I know, that's bad!). Since I was married I had pneumonia once and a severe cat bite once, but that's about it until the little guy decided to make his presence known.

Alisha & Tracey: Good for you about the new eating plan, hope it works for you. I've always been a little suspicious about the Atkins diet. Many of the people I knew who were on it would eat the craziest things and it never seemed to be very balanced. But what works for one person doesn't always work for another.

Have a good evening ladies!

01-04-2006, 12:03 AM
I found it. Glad to be back!!

01-04-2006, 12:28 AM
Jenny - :dancer:

Bootcamp it is!!! Weigh in on Saturday & water , water, water.

01-05-2006, 12:04 AM
Just found out we are getting our Orders tommorow! We are probably going to be heading to FL in 2-3 weeks! Cannot belive it. Then after he finishes his training there we will be heading to Japan. I cannot belive this is actually real. Didnt do much todaybut get stuff done to move. Its going to consume most of my time.

01-05-2006, 01:14 AM
jenny - I know how you feel, kind of. My dad is retired military & we always seemed to go overseas. I've never been to Japan, but all of my friends that went loved it. I hope you don't stress too much. It's a huge sacrifice(sp) for military families. My thoughts are with you.

01-05-2006, 02:50 AM
Er...I know I'm kinda new here, but I'm asking anyone who prays to pray for me, lol. You know how I was stressing about the newness of being a SAHM? Well, our foster care agency came through with a placement. I've been home with one baby....tomorrow, we will add a 4 year old girl, a 2 year old girl and a 9 month old boy to the mix. Hubby and I talked long and hard about this (well, in the time they give you to make a decision) and he understands more now about how we have to work on the house and home and family stuff together.

I've worked with groups of children most of my why am I so stressed?

01-05-2006, 09:52 AM
Good Morning Ladies! How is everyone doing? Good i hope!! Not too much here so far....the day has only begun.....But i am on the right track, i plan to eat healthy today, and of course excercise to billy!! :carrot:

Jenny: Good Luck with everything!! Have a safe trip and stay safe!! :goodvibes

Cat: :goodvibes....Girl you are TRULY one STRONG WOMAN!! Don't stress you are a GREAT mother who has so much love to give! You will be fine!! Will you be adopting all of the kids?? WOW!! Stay strong....remember breathe in....breathe out.... We are here if you need us! Take care

Well ladies i am going to jump off here i will chat with you all soon. Have a WONDERFUL day!!

01-05-2006, 10:12 AM
Jenny: Wow, Japan! My hubby was there when his dad was in the Marines, but he was only about a year old so he doesn't remember it! But he's got some cousins who are there right now (in the military) and they love it. Good luck.

Alisha: 3 hours in a doctor's office with a 3 year old? No wonder you were pulling your hair out! Good for you for sticking with the Taebo; I will be starting soon.

Cat: Good luck! Three more children, wow! Are they related to each other? If so I'm sure that makes it a little easier. You are very special for fostering children. I've always wanted to do it, but I've never really been settled down for long enough. Besides, I've got so many cats I probably would not be approved (and I got most of those cats from fostering them, lol!). Good luck and please give us daily updates! (if you have time, that is).

I'm still painting. My hubby fixed up some built-ins on either side of the fireplace, and now we're painting them. I know I'm saving money by painting myself (the truth is, I can't afford to hire someone anyway), but it's such a pain. But after it's all done, I'm so proud of myself that I did it and it looks nice. Kind of like our weight loss journey, wouldn't you say?

Okay, the little guy is running around getting into trouble (his new job is to transfer the cat's food from their food bowl into their water bowl). Talk to you later!

01-05-2006, 11:40 AM
Jenny - My cousin (who is in the Navy) and his family just came back from Japan after living there for about 2 years. When I spoke to his wife, she said that she loved it there which surprised me.

Cat - I will be praying for you. Working with children and then actually having a hand in raising them is two different things and that's probably why you are so scared. But I think what you and your husband are doing is absolutely great.

I'm very happy to report that the five pounds I gained over the holiday are officially gone. So I guess it was mostly water weight. I'm actually a half a pound below 291 right now (which is what my ticker said because I refused to put the gain on there). Woohoo!! :carrot: My officialy weigh in is on Sunday so I'm glad to at least have a foregleam that there will be a loss, even if it isn't much.

01-06-2006, 02:51 AM
Hi, All,

Sadly, my update is that the children couldn't stay with us. We also have cats - four - and no one cross referenced one noticed that the children are all allergic to cats.

It was an awful day. The whole situation was just bad. There were other problems with the placement as well. I had specifically asked about food allergies and other allergies, medications and medical conditions, and I was told that the little boy had just gotten over RSV, and that was all.

That was not even close to all. The eldest is allergic to beef (?), all dairy, all nuts, cucumbers, etc. She has an epipen for peanuts, that allergy is very severe. She also has asthma, is on 4 medications and also have a nebulizer. Middle child had many delays..nothing we couldn't have handled, but no one came forth with that info. The little boy was still hacking like crazy, and all three were once we got them home, because of the cats. The little boy wasn't really old enough to know what was going on, but the girls were, and cried when I explained that we would have to take them back to the agency. It broke our hearts...the eldest, only four, askd if they could PLEASE stay, promised they'd be good....I can only imagine how hard this was for them. It was an awful day for us....but nothing compared to what these poor kids are going through.

I've cried a great deal today...and I did a little chocolate therapy this evening, but really, not much. I didn't really eat all day either, so it's more a bad choice of calorie source than anything else. Still, considering today, I just can't bring myself to be all that upset about it.

Thank you all for your kind words and well wishes....after this experience, and because of previous experiences, we've pretty much decided to wait several years before taking another placement. This is too uncertain, and not fair to our daughter. I dearly love the agency and the people there - it's not that they are's the idea that kids can have to be in this situation. So, I will continue to volunteer with our agency (I help sort/organize the clothing bank), but we have decided to take our name off the list for least for now.

A little sad, a little bruised from the day,

01-06-2006, 09:05 AM
Cat: I'm so sorry things didnt work out. You should really file a complaint w/ the head of the agency about the information that wasnt shared w/ you. That type of neglegence on the agency's part could very likely have ended up in the death of one of those children, (especially the one w/ all the food allergies). In order for a child to receive proper care, things like allergies, medications, and all medical conditions, MUST be known to the foster parents. I'll pray that they find a good family to place these precious children with.

01-06-2006, 11:19 AM
cat - I'm so sorry to hear that you couldn't keep the kids. I know how heartbroken you must be. .

01-06-2006, 08:45 PM
cat - I am also so very sorry. I can't imagine what you are going through or your family but my thoughts are with you guys.

01-07-2006, 01:05 AM
(thought I posted earlier but I don't see it; I apologize if this is a dupe)

Cat: I'm so sorry to hear about the problem with the foster children. I hope you and your husband are doing okay tonight. I feel really bad for the children, because at that age they don't really understand and tend to think things are their fault. They would have been so lucky to stay with you, but it just wasn't meant to be. At least you are still helping kids by volunteering at the agency. And because you are working there, you can spread the word to other parents and help even more kids get homes. Good luck and keep up the great work, what you're doing is so very important. Besides, you're giving another kid a great home, that sweet little baby girl you've got.

01-07-2006, 03:17 AM
Thanks, everyone...I moped a little bit this morning, but it was a warm, pretty day, so I took babykins out for a walk, got some fresh air and sunshine...even opened windows on the house to get some fresh air inside. It was a really gorgeous day, so I did my best to enjoy it. All in all, we had a pretty good day.

We had purchased little toddler beds and mattresses for the two older girls...I took them apart and re-packaged them...I'm going to return them some time this weekend. Eventually, I want one for the baby, but I think for now, it'd be better if I just get 'these' out of here.

Again, thank you so much for all the support. Our focus is on our little girl and loving her to pieces. Pretty good focus, no?

I got some really cool news today, too. Our baby's birth mom is wanting to go to Idaho to visit a friend, and asked if we would watch her daughter. She has a little girl that's just a little over a year old. I think it'll be great to see her again. The babies are both young, and won't really 'know' one another, but still, it'll be great! I also learned that my 5 year old nephew is coming to visit in a few months. So, it's going to be a bit busy around here - woo hoo!

01-07-2006, 11:52 AM
I haven't been able to get on here for a couple days and now its time to play catch up.

Cat-My heart was just breaking, reading through your posts. I am sooo sorry. I hope today is better for you. I just don't know what else to say.

Hi all to the rest of you. I went to my doctor appt yesterday and I weighed in 2 lbs. less than I did on Dec I guess that's good. Slow but sure.

I'll check in later when I have a bit more time. I need to clean the house some and then we may go to my mom's house and put up the rest of her shelves in her sewing room.

01-07-2006, 12:14 PM
Good Morning Ladies! How is everyone doing today? Good i hope! I am ok....i am a little sad i didn't loose anything this week but i did loose an inch from my stomach, hips, thighs, arms and i guess thats good, i will take it!! What about everyone else?

Cat:  I am so sorry to hear about your situation!! I am here for you if you need to just chat or vent or whatever....We are all here for you, always!Don't stress over the chocolate....atleast it was only a little bit!! Stay strong!!!

Well ladies i just wanted to pop in and say hello, and see how everyone is doing and see how the weigh in is going.....I will check in later. Have a GREAT day Ladies!!

01-07-2006, 05:56 PM
Thanks, y'all, I am doing pretty good, actually. We had gotten the two older girls toddler beds and mattresses, and last night, I packed all that up. It kinda helped me have a bit of closure on the whole thing. Then, my best friend since 8th grade called today to see how it was all going - I hadn't called her yet to let her know what we talked too. She has adopted, and has done foster care, so she totally understood. It was really good to talk to her.

Today is warm, sunny, gorgeous. I took kitteninhat out on the deck and we played with some of her toys. The fresh air was wonderful. However, it got breezy and she got sleepy. I'm not sure what the weather will be like when she wakes, so I'm not sure if we'll get out with the stroller. Still, we had a truly lovely time.

I weighed this morning - it's Saturday, after all. I'm down six pounds!!!! I know why...I weighed last Saturday, then started my period on Sunday night, so that is some of it...and the last couple days, I have been busy and have been eating less. I've also been paying better attention to what I'm doing. Some little changes: if I'm going to have soda, it's not with a more using pop to wash down food, you know? I really can be a soda addict, so making this change probably cut my calories a good bit today. I've also been drinking a little more water (I still don't drink enough, but more is better than giving up!). I've been trying to have some protein at each meal too - and having some nuts, cheese or fruit for a snack instead of junk food. I do feel better physically, and these are changes I can live with long term.

So, time to sound dumb - how do change my diet tracker? When I went into the control panel, tried to edit signature, it seems I was just creating a new tracker - I only want to alter the one I have, to reflect the 6 pound loss. Any advice?

01-08-2006, 10:28 AM
Chris: Good for you for losing 2 pounds, that's great! Keep it up!

Alisha: I'll take 1 inch less anytime.... way to go!

Cat: So glad to hear you're feeling better. Way to go on the 6 pounds! Yes, soda will definitely do that for you. To update your weight tracker, after going into your signature you go to Edit Signature and scroll down to a box that contains the code for your signature and weight tracker. You will see 3 numbers (like 216/136/194, or whatever your numbers are). They are SW/GW/CW, so you change the CW (current weight) and the GW (goal weight). Don't forget to hit Preview signature to check it, then you MUST hit Save signature to save it.

Speaking of changing signatures, I finally changed mine. I finally got up the nerve to weigh yesterday, and I'm only 4 pounds up from all those weeks of eating junk and not exercising. Woooo-hoooo! I'll be back into the routine again of eating right and exercising starting today, and my husband will be too, so that will be a help for me. I'm so glad and it gives me renewed motivation. Watch out, Cindy's back!!!!!!!

Just getting a quick post in before my nephew's birthday party. We've been moving furniture all morning. Transferring our waterbed down to our daughters room and brought in the oak stuff for our room. Talk about heavy.

I went to the gym last night with my sister. We did 1/2 on the life circuit and then played basketball for 1/2 hour. We played HORSE...guess who lost?
It felt good to get some exercise in. We didn't do anything the day before, and I actually missed it. I tell ya what 3rd day on the circuit is the magic number because my whole body is sore and screaming today.

Well better go and get some lunch before we go so I don't pork out on the birthday cake. Check back later.

Hey Cat, stress or that darn TOM...who cares! :) You lost 6 lbs...WHOO WHOO! That's just awesome. You go girl! :cheer:

Gotta go.

01-08-2006, 08:26 PM
I lost five pounds and reached a new decade.

01-08-2006, 09:05 PM
Good Evening Ladies, how is everyone doing? Good i hope?? Gotta a question has anyone here every done Weight Watchers and had success with it? I have been researching it and i am debating it, i don't know if i want to pay the costs of it, but i have been researching it, and i think i almost have enough info to do my "own" i don't know just thought i would see what you ladies think?

TeaHoney: You go girl :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

Chris: Good job on getting that excercise in!! I think you will find out that excercise is the key to you weight loss, to anyone's weight loss. Keep up the good work!!

Cat: 6 pounds!!! WOW!! You go girl!! :carrot: That is so awesome, keep up the good work!! I am so happy for you that you are doing better and moving on. Stay strong and take one day at a time!

Cynthia: Whats up girlie!! Your hubby is joining your adventure?? WOW, thats awesome!! My hubby tried to excercise with me last week and lasted for about 10 min out of a 55 minute workout. It was cute though watching him try......and i thought it was really cute cause he started telling people he works with and friends that he was VERY impressed to see how hard i workout and how i can keep it up for so long.....Let us no how it goes!!

Cara: How are you doing?

Julie: How are you doing, i hope things are ok with you?

Hello to EVERYONE i missed, i hope you are all having a GREAT night!! Take care......Oooohhh i have some "sorda" feel good news. my little one last night wanted to see mommy's belly after beating on daddy's big belly.....:dizzy: And i didn't want too but i did, and when i did, my hubby said WOW, you can see the difference in your body......So that made me feel good. Ok sorry just had to say that.....

By Girls!!

Alisha - Doesn't it feel good when our hubbies notice a difference? Good for you, girl!!! I am so excited about this year! Sounds like we are on a roll!!

tea - YAY!!! :carrot: I am so happy for you!!!!!! :D

chris - I miss being sore! It's so good that you are exercising w/ a buddy. It helps!

Cindy - So glad you are back!! And only four pounds? That's great, you'll have that off in no time!!! Did I mention I was so excited!!

cat - 6 pounds is wonderful!!! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

As for me - I am back up to ..... :censored: 200. So, needless to say I did 50 minutes tonight on the bike. I also didn't have my late night snack. PLEASE if anyone sees anything in my posts about snacking after 7:30pm, please administer a swift kick in the butt!!:rollpin: :thanks: I give you all permission. I really need that! So, when do we start our video?

I hope you ladies have a wonderful night.

01-09-2006, 01:50 AM
Way to go all you LOSERS!

It is so awesome to see how good everyone is doing. Let's keep this kind of energy going. I love it!

BTW..were we going to weigh in each week? I thought I read that in a post earlier.

01-09-2006, 08:57 AM
Good morning ladies. Hubby was off this weekend so he hogged the internet, lol. I am happy to report that my ticker is now accurate again, as I FINALLY lost the weight I gained a couple weeks ago, and I am now back down to 203.

The kids are starting to get sick again. Haleigh coughed all night long, and Christian isnt doing much better. SO I guess I'll be calling the dr today.

Congrats to all others who lost this week, Keep up the great work.

I'll write more later, i gotta get Christian to school

Hope you all have a great day

01-09-2006, 10:49 AM
Tracey: 5 pounds? Woo-hoo! Good for you, keep it up! Isn't it great having such a large loss sometimes? Kind of like getting a bonus at work!

Alisha: Yay! for hubby's comment! It's nice when someone you see every day notices a difference. Yes, my hubby is trying to lose too. He lost almost the same that I did (24 pounds by the time I lost 26) and now he's back into it. In fact, he signed up for 3fc a couple months ago and posted a few times in the general thread. He'll probably get back into doing that again, too.

Carfre: Nice to see you again! I was afraid I was over 200, too. I was getting close, but now I'm determined to go back down again. I've noticed that eating a little more protein than I usually do helps to curb snacking. Peanuts, hard-boiled eggs, peanut butter, cheese. Maybe it would help for you, too. I don't have the Taebo Bootcamp, but until I get it I'll use my normal Taebo tape. I'm ready now, how about everyone else?!?

Chris: We weigh on Saturdays. So work hard all week, and join us all on Saturday for a virtual weigh-in.... By the way, what time of day on Saturday does everyone else weigh? I weigh first thing in the morning, even before getting dressed. I don't want the weight of even one sock to get that weight up! ha-ha

Amanda: You poor thing, this is a bad season for your kids' health! That stinks. Your family needs a full month of not being sick so you can get back to normal! Hang in there!

Okay, today is the first day of my new life (that is, back to eating the way I should and exercising). It started out well (Cheerios and coffee) and now I'm going shopping with the Sir. After lunch I plan on taking him for a walk around our new neighborhood. I may attempt the Bowflex during his afternoon nap, but I've got a lot of other things to do.... NO! No excuses! I will do the Bowflex. Please, anyone, post a message for me tonight, where everyone can see it, asking if I did the Bowflex. That way, if I didn't, I'll feel guilty and will definitely do it tomorrow.

Okay, gotta run. See ya later!

01-09-2006, 01:50 PM
Cindy - Ditto for me w/ the bowflex!!! I will do my toning exercises today!!! I have yet to get the bootcamp video, I have to go to target later so I'll check there. I would like to start this Saturday, fresh & ready to drop these pounds forever!! I weigh in early in the am, too!!

Have a great day ladies!! I will check in to see the bowflex report!!:D

so nice to be back & exercising!!

01-09-2006, 04:09 PM
Bowflex update: I forgot some guys are coming to fix a window in the garage, so I can't do Bowflex this afternoon. However, I called hubby and asked him if he would like to do Bowflex with me this evening. I told him "I promised my Sahmmies I'd do it and I can't let them down!" He said he would.

Carafre: Saturday for Taebo is good for me! I probably still won't have bootcamp by then but I'll use my old one. It sure is nice to be back exercising, isn't it? I just got back from my walk. 45minutes instead of the hour I used to do, but I'm used to walking on a walking trail. This neighborhood, however, is loaded with hills and I'm worn out!

01-09-2006, 08:35 PM
I got to change my ticker. I weighed myself last night and am at 196.

Wish I could chat with you gals a bit more but I have to run and get dinner for the family and then its off to the gym with my sister. TOM has finally left so I'm going to play in the whirlpool after my workout. :D

p/s which bootcamp dvd...Tae Bo????

01-09-2006, 10:22 PM
Chris: Yes, Tae Bo bootcamp. I don't have it yet but I have the old ones that I'll start with. So do you still like going to the gym? Sounds like you're having a good time. It's really a lot easier when you have someone to go with, isn't it? Is your sister trying to lose weight too, or just trying to get into shape?

Bowflex update: None tonight after all because we did some free weights instead, as well as crunches and push-ups. The push-ups were hubby's idea, man those things are hard! I'm already feeling it and I know it will be worse tomorrow. Also my butt will probably be killing me tomorrow after walking on all those hills! But that's what I get for letting it slide for so long.

Hope everyone else had a good day, I'll check in with you tomorrow!

01-10-2006, 12:21 AM
Thanks so much for all the encouragement! You guys are doing great, too - lots of progress around here, and it's really motivating! Sorry to hear about sick kids though - that can really be a bummer. My little munchkin is growing and growing. I put her in a little 1-piece with feet deal, that she wore just a couple days ago....she stretched, and snaps started popping, so I got out the 3-6 mos. clothing..I'll wash it all tomorrow and change out what is in her dresser.

I'm kinda excited because we went to town today. I know that sounds lame, but usually, I go on Tuesday, just baby and me, but the three of us went today, and got all our errands done in record time. It was really great! Plus, my house is 'clean enough', so I have tomorrow afternoon as 'me time', in a sense. If baby sleeps, I can really get into the book I'm reading for getting my habits improved, all that. I might even run a bath and pretend it's a spa day!

Today's food wasn't so great - too much of some good things, but it wasn't horrid either, and I was hungry when I ate. So...I'll do my best to make lighter choices tomorrow as a bit of an adjustment. I feel a little sluggy tonight, so I know I overdid it some.

Anyway, y'all take care - and keep up the great work!

01-10-2006, 11:01 AM
Good Morning Ladies! How is everyone doing, good i hope? I am doing pretty good. Not too much here, sorry i didn't post yesterday i got really busy cleaning my house and doing laundry...etc...and by the time i finally had time, i was so tired i just crashed! I can't wait until everyone starts doing Taebo.....its really hard the 1st couple of times but then it gets easier....don't beat yourself up, if you have to keep taking breaks, i do...i still do. Hey i don't know if everyone is up for it, but how about we all start posting our menu's for the day, that way we are accountable for what we eat.....and we can all help each other make good choices, and if you have a day where you don't do good, its ok, just do better the next. Just an idea. I like when we recorded our water intake too, cause water intake is a key to weight loss. I think....:?: So what do you guys think, if you don't want too i understand.

Cara: I really, really, really hope its our year, INFACT i hope it is ALL Of OUR YEAR!! Go sahmmies!!

Cynthia: Yes it is great when the hubby notices!! I think it is awesome that your hubby works out with you. I don't think i could get my hubby to post on this board or any boards, he thinks its funny. But who cares what he thinks! Good job on the walk, thats awesome!! Keep it up, and i am sure you will see results soon!!

Cat: I am glad you got your errands done in "record" time. I can't never get my done any any time......Hmmmm a spa day sounds like fun. I wish i could find the time to do that, i have not taken a bubble bath in a long time...hmmmm maybe tonight.....Enjoy your spa......;)

Amanda: Poor Haliegh and Christian...awwww~ Thats aweful. It must really be going around in your house. You got your lysol ready? Good job on bieng back to where you started. Keep up the good work!!

Chris: You go girl!!! You are doing so good with your weight loss. How is the gym going? Good? Is it as bad as you thought it would be?

Well ladies i am going to run....well not really run...but i am going to jump off here and get some more laundry done....gosh that feels like all i do. I will chat with you all soon! Have a wonderful day!!

Alish a

01-10-2006, 12:25 PM
Alisha-The gym is no where near as bad as I thought it would be. I find myself getting so involved in "me" that I forget about everyone around me. I am loving it. I come home and feel sore for the next couple days but its a good sore and I guess I must have a ton of muscles I haven't used in a long time. :) I think reporting on menus would be a great idea, not only to keep eachother in line, but also we could get other good meal ideas from eachother that way.

Cynthia-I think I might get the bootcamp video too. Just for something to do on my off gym days. My sister loves the gym too. I hope she sticks with it. I think I feel comfortable enough though to do it without her if she doesn't. She says she needs to lose 12 lbs (I"m still trying to figure out where :D ), but I know she says she wants to tone up. Both my sister's just make me sick (LOL). They both are these skinny little twigs after having kids. Every time I got pregnant, I ballooned up and never lost it. I think I got all the crappy genes in the family.

Cat-Don't those little ones grow so fast? She must be a little cutie. My babes were all little chunky monkeys...never missed a meal, never missed a bottle. They were always in the 90% or above for growth at their well baby checks. Its funny though because now my older ones (now 6 and 12) are the some of the petitest girls in their classes.

I have a ton to do today so I'm going to have to be going. I'll check back later.

01-10-2006, 06:59 PM
Hello everyone. I just came back from the dr's office, (sigh) Christian has a sinus infection, and Haleigh has a sinus infection and bronchitis. Soooo, it's antibiotics all around, and breathing treatments for Haleigh. The dr said that this stuff is going around really bad here .

Otherwise we are all doing well. I have stayed well within my calorie limits over the last few days, although I havent been getting my workouts in. Will do better after I get done w/ these sick children, lol. Haleigh is supposed to get albuteral (sp?) treatments through the nebulizer every 3-4 hours to break up the congestion in her lungs

Anyways I'll write more later, I hear someone pulling up the driveway.

01-10-2006, 07:12 PM
Amanda, Poor little honeys. Nicole has to have nebulizer treatments so often that the doctor gave us a prescription so the insurance company would pay for the machine. We've been using it on her for almost 2 yrs now. Seems like every cold she gets goes right to her lungs too. The doctor figures she has asthma but she is still too young to really get her tested for it. They just have to use her medical history...i.e. Pneumonia, bronchitis, etc. Does Haleigh have asthma? Well I sure hope you all get to feeling better. My mom calls all the stuff going around the "creeping crud". :D

Not much happening here. I cut out all my quilt parts and now I can sew it together. My sisters' and I are making quilts and selling them on ebay for some extra dough. It's kind of fun, just hard to find the time to get it all done. I'll be heading back to school next week and there my time will go again.

01-10-2006, 07:14 PM
Amanda - those poor babies. And they're pretty young too. I can only imagine how miserable they are (and you too to see the babies miserable makes Mommy miserable). Hope they are better soon.

01-11-2006, 02:22 AM
Oh...sorry your little ones are sick! Hope they are better soon!

Chris, I'm starting my first 'real' quilt - just finding the fabric right now. It'll be a full size, nine patch for our guest bedroom. Do y'all get a good price on ebay? I have thought about doing wall quilts to sell there. Just wondering.

Not a whole lot going on here either. I woke up tired, and stayed tired all day. Going to bed soon, hoping tomorrow is a bit more energetic.

01-11-2006, 12:41 PM
Good Morning Ladies! How is everyone doing, good i hope? I am doing good! Just relaxing getting some laundry done....what about everyone else?

Amanda: Awwww! Poor things, there is nothing worse than a sick miserable child! Hopefully they get better real soon!!

Chris & Cat: Are quilts hard to do? For beginners, i am still trying to become familiar with sewing and different ways, how easy is it to make quilts?

Well ladies i am not going to make this long, i need to get back to work...i will chat with you all later tonight. Have a great day!

01-11-2006, 01:44 PM
Amanda - So sorry the little ones are sick. Mine are also sick. It's so bad this year! Get well soon!!!

Alisha - :D Are you kidding me, relaxing doing laundry?? I loathe the laundry! I give it dirty looks and then cuss it the whole time I am doing it.  Glad to hear you are doing good!!

I gotta roll, the kids are up and feeling awful.

01-11-2006, 02:08 PM
LOL, Carafre,

When I was a kid (and it was the 70's, not the 20's), we had a wringer washer and a wash board, did the laundry outside in the back yard by the hand pump. We would fill a bunch of garden hose with water and put it in the sun to warm up, then start doing laundry...hand it all out to took the better part of a day! Trust me, using stain removers, tossing laundry and soap in a washer, it's not so bad! I always think about women hauling the clothes down to the creek and beating them on a could be lots worse!!

Have a great day :)

01-11-2006, 03:45 PM
Well i didn't mean relaxing doing laundry meaning i am just relaxing in General and getting some laundry done here and there, trust me Cara i am like you i do not like doing laundry.....well i don't mind putting the laundry in the washer, i hate folding it, and mostly i hate folding WHITES!! I hate to have to match everyone's socks....fold the sucks!! But hey if i don't do it who will right??

Have a good day everyone!!

01-11-2006, 05:19 PM
Hey Ladies!

Amanda: Your poor little ones, I hope they're feeling better soon!

Cat & Chris: Me too! I want to know how to make quilts! Is it tough? I'm not much of a sewer (hmmm... doesn't look like the right word!) and I don't even have a sewing machine, but maybe all that will change. I love quilts!

Carafre: You're little ones are sick too? Poor darlings. And how are you, hopefully feeling better. How are you doing with eating and exercising? I'm okay with both right now, but not back to where I was a few months ago. Looking forward to Taebo.

Alisha: I hate laundry, too! I hate putting it away. My hubby usually does laundry, but on Monday and yesterday I did a marathon laundry session; that sucker was running all day long and still running by the time we went to bed. I had a lot of catch-up to do, and now it's done so hopefully hubby will stay on top of it.

I've been walking with the Sir every day in my neighborhood, and it's a really good workout with all those hills. Haven't gotten on the treadmill yet, but I'll be working that into my new schedule soon. Someone (I think Alisha) asked about posting menus everyday. I'll go along with that, although half the time I don't know what I'm making until it's time to cook! Does anyone else here use FitDay? I have an account but haven't used it yet. Maybe that would be an easier way to post our menus because I think you can share with others. But I'm not sure. Other thoughts?

01-11-2006, 05:59 PM
Thanks for the well wishes for the kids :) They do seem to be feeling a little better today.

Chris- I have had the nebulizer since Christian was about 5 mos old! Absolutely everything went to his lungs back then. Then Haleigh was born and it was the same thing again. its not so bad anymore, but winters are always hard on their lungs. Neither of them have asthma, though, thank goodness

Cindy- kudos for getting that walk in every day. I use fitday, and find it really motivating. I also came accross a free diet website that provides a meal plan and fitness plan just recently called ***********. I just signed up a couple of days ago, so I dont know a whole lot about it yet, but its FREE so i figure i should at least check it out.

Cat: I actually find it really relaxing to hang clothes on the line to dry (when its warm, that is). I think that's because it reminds me of when I was little, and would help my mom hang our laundry. Things were so simple then, LOL The house we lived in had NO plumbing. We had an outhouse, and my mom carried all our water from a spring. (Can you tell I'm country, LOL)

Cara: sorry your little ones are sick. The dr said that this has been a really bad year for kids. I think I'll buy a few extra cans of lysol tomorrow, LOL.

Alisha: I have been thinking about learning to sew also. I would love to make dresses, quilts, and all kinds of stuff, LOL . I'd also like to make a quilt. Both of the last ones i bought from a store came apart at the seams, and they aren't cheap either.

I FINALLY got enough $ together to order Billy's Boot Camp. I cant wait til it gets here, lol.

Well, I gotta get off here and finish making chicken & dumplings for dinner. I'll talk to y'all later

01-11-2006, 06:32 PM
Alisha, there are some quilts that are fairly easy to do. I'm still a beginner too. My mom has made quilts before and she's more familiar with it all, so when I can't figure out something, I go to her. The one thing I do have a hard time with is finding colors for them. I did find some really neat ones for my latest. When I get it done, I will post a pic of it so you can see it.

Amanda, Sounds like the kids are doing okay. Nicole woke up in the middle of the night coughing and having a stuffed up nose. Kayla is congested today and my nephew is coming down with something. The little "bugs" floating all over in the winter, just drive me nuts. I'm looking forward to the day when everyone will be "unsick" on the same day. ;)

Cynthia-Quilting isn't too hard. It's time consuming though. There is lots of books out there too that show you step by step how to do the different quilt patterns. Like I told Alisha, I'm a beginner too. My mom is soo much better at it than me. She's been sewing since she was a kid. I guess I have too (since I was 10 yrs old). My grandma was a seamstress and loved to sew too.

Cat-My mom had to use a wringer washer when she was still living at home. She told me all about those little buggers. My grandma even had hers stored in the basement when she died a few years ago. In fact, I think my mom has it in her basement now.

Cara-Sorry to hear your little ones are sick too. These same little germs seem to be all over the place. It just amazes me at the amount of people (in different parts of the country) having the same viruses. Unreal!

I think, I hope, I got a hi in to most everyone. I have the dirty "L" word to do. Mr. Washmore has risen and needs to be knocked down once again. I hate laundry too. Maybe we should all start a club for that.

Check back later.

01-11-2006, 09:24 PM
Hey Ladies i just wanted to post and see if there is anything new going on. How about we all post are menu's starting tomorrow. That way we can all catch up with the new thing that we are starting. Ok?

Cynthia: I hardly use fit day i don't really like it, i think it makes bigger of the calories, carbs, and etc....maybe i am wrong...Plus it is hard for me to get on there everyday to enter what i eat.....what time i do have online i want to spend it here on this board and checking my your hubby does laundry.....he is defintly a keeper!! :carrot: My hubby has probaly done laundry about 5 times in the 5 years we have been together......:?: But oh well.......

Chris: I think a i HATE DOING LAUNDRY CLUB is a great idea  I think for me i need to look into a basic sewing class first and learn all the basics, and then i will move onto quilting, but i really think i want to get into that.....i have saved some of my babies clothes and i would like to make it into a quilt for him, to have for his 1st i have plenty of time...hopefully.....:dizzy:

Amanda: Good Luck with the Taebo, i hope you enjoy it as much as i am "now" Just stick with it, it does get easier....and on the excercise plan that you get...depending on how you feel but for me i am doing the Basic Training for about a month before i incorp....the other excercises into certain days.

Well ladies i am going to jump off here i will chat with you all soon! Have a great night!!

01-11-2006, 11:19 PM
Alisha - I'm just pickin' on ya!!! I hate folding everything! You're right, if we don't do it, who will!!!

01-12-2006, 01:16 AM
Ok - so I have more to type now that the kids are settled. I am doing better with the water!! But I've totally tanked on the not eating after 7:30. Mostly b/c I've been nursing a little more since Talon is sick. But some b/c I am bored. C'mon, someone , anyone? I need to hear the words...

Chris - I really want to quilt!! I have no idea where to start! I can't wait for the "unsick" days!!! I hope your little ones are better real soon!! These bugs are everywhere!!! I asked the Pediatrician today if I am doing something wrong b/c it semms like we've all been sick for 2 months! He said no, lots of kids are staying sick b/c of the strains of virus going around. It made me feel sad about lots of kids being sick, but better b/c it's not just us.

Amanda - I am going to Lysol this house tomorrow if the kids are better!! I am already washing sheets & blankets (More friggin' laundry!). Thanks for the well wishes! I am glad your kids are doing better!! There's hope for us all!!

Cindy - I am better, still a little congested but 150% better than last week. Only exercised once this week. I've let my sweet little girl sleep in my bed so I can keep an ear on her chest - which means no biking. But I did do one great thing - I join Curves Saturday. Hubby is finally on board. Since I can't get it going here at home, I will be going there. I am really excited. Good for you walking again!! I bet both of you are enjoying it!! I know that you really missed it! Yes, Taebo here we go!! Saturday!!!

cat - If I had to drag clothes to a creek to wash, forget it!!!! We'd be the odd naked family on the block!! Wait - I'd have to be in shape to look good naked all the time, hmmm - now to find a creek!!:D

I better go take temps & drink some water!

01-12-2006, 01:49 AM
Hey ya'll...just found this group...I too want to be a slimmer SAHM....I work part time so I hope you'll have me...
counting calories and walking is what I'm doing so far...I didn't have time tonight to read what's been going on here so hopefully I'm in the right place. I'll check w/ ya'll tomorrow.

01-12-2006, 01:56 PM
Good afternoon ladies!

I have to admit, I stopped at *gasp* McD's for lunch today. I didn't even think twice and that was scary... at least, until I got home and realized what I'd done! But what's done is done and I can't undo it. I know I shouldn't make up excuses, but my monthly friend is visiting this week, so I let myself give in to temptation.

Hi Alisha! I'll start my menus tomorrow, after I go grocery shopping. I'm still not into the habit of eating at home yet, after eating out for 3 straight months while living in the hotel. But I will shop til I drop tomorrow at the Kroger and then I'll post my menus proudly!

Carafre: I wonder why kids everywhere are staying sick for so long. Did your doctor have a theory? Thankfully, the Sir has been healthy all season *crossing fingers*, and we have too. My hubby usually gets sick once each winter around Christmastime, usually knocks him out for a week, but he didn't get it this year *crossing toes*. Keep your spirits up and keep the orange juice flowing, Carafre, and you'll all be better in no time. Good luck with the water intake; that's one of my downfalls now, too. Maybe it's time to institute our old challenges...??

Ed: Welcome! Good luck on your goals. Walking is excellent, that's how I got down 26 pounds (but I've gained a few of those back due to inactivity for a few weeks). I don't count calories yet, but I may start using It's a cool site (free!) that lets you plug in your food and adds up the nutritional content for you. But I've been slacking lately and will slowly get back up to speed. How many kiddies do you have? I have a 17-month old boy, the light of my life. I also have two stepchildren, ages 13 and 10, that live with their mother in another state, but they stay with us sometimes and they are wonderful. I've been a SAHM since the Sir was born, but before that I was in the corporate world.... I didn't hate it, but I don't miss it! Good luck and check back often!

Gotta run ladies, talk to you later!

Only 4 more days until the premiere of 24 on Sunday night! WOOOOOO-HOOOOO!

Sorry, I usually don't get this excited about a television show, I really don't watch that much tv. But it is the best show ever and I can't wait until this season starts! Everyone I know is hooked on it too. Do any of you watch it? I've got all 4 of the previous seasons on DVD, so you can tell I'm a big fan. Last year I regularly visited the official website and message board, but not this year. There are too many spoilers that I saw last year, and unfortunately I've already seen one for this year (a sad one) so no more!

24!!!!!!! Yay!!!! :carrot:

01-12-2006, 02:42 PM
Cindy, Dont feel bad, lol. I stopped at mcd's for breakfast this morning and had (gasp) a cinnamon roll and a med. Regular coke. But like you AF is getting ready to start so...

Guess what ladies...I was laying on my side last night and I could actually FEEL my hipbones!!! I forgot I had any LOL. Other than my splurge at mcd's this morning I have done well so far today. I've had half my water for the day, and I have done my aerobics video already. My motivation and determination has been renewed this week.

Anyways its almost time to go pick Christian from school. So i'd better get off this thing, lol. I'll talk to you all later

01-12-2006, 09:12 PM
Just a quick hi from me before I pick up the girls from dance. I worked out with my sister last night and did 30 min on the life circuit machines, 15 min on the elliptical, and 10 on the treadmill. Scary....

Everyone here is getting sick again. Nicole will probably have to do the nebulizer soon. I'm watching her close.

Okay..Welcome Ed. I'm Chris, sahm of 3 daughters, and a full-time student. I gotta go. I think they may kill me if they think I "abandon" them at the dance studio.

01-13-2006, 02:27 AM
Hi my name is Danielle and I am A sahm of 4. My oldest just started kindergarten. They are 5,4,2,and 9 mo. Talk about exhausting, fun, lovable but I am always so tired. It doesn't help that hubby won't lift a finger. Anyway I am doing good on my diet I started Jan. 1st but just weighed myself 3 days ago. I have been pushing the stroller around a track we have here at the rec center for 2 hrs. While my son is in pre-school and my daughter in Kindergarten. Also I go to the gym when I can get a sitter. This sounds like a very supportive group. I am thankful. I really don't have many friends I am just to busy and I am only 25 all my single friend don't want to hang out with a whole bunch of kids. They are still into the bar scene, which I have hardly ever seen!

01-13-2006, 12:19 PM
Good morning Ladies!

Amanda: You have hipbones? Wow, I wish I had some of those. I seem to remember a time when I used to have them, but I must have lost them over the years and replaced them with pillows. More comfortable, to be sure, but tough to fit into jeans!

Chris: Wow, you're REALLY doing well at the gym! It's such a good feeling, isn't it, to start getting addicted to something that's good for you (as opposed to, say... chocoloate! lol)

Danielle: Welcome to our little group! Good for you for starting a new lifestyle, you'll really be rewarded with the results. And you'll be teaching your little ones about how to take care of themselves, too! Wow, you walk a LONG time! Walking really helps, believe me. I usually walk with my little guy every day in our neighborhood. I've got one son, 17-months old, and 2 stepkids (13 and 10) that live with their mother in another state. I know what you mean about no friends, I feel the same way! But sometimes you just don't have time. Don't worry, you'll make more friends soon in the gym you go to, or through your children's schools and activities.

Well, all, I didn't do so well yesterday; absolutely no exercise (unless you count running around after the Sir!). Today it's rather cloudy and depressing outside, but I may get on the treadmill soon. I'm trying to get in my water intake. And I still haven't started Fitday! I need a kick in the butt. Maybe Billy Blanks will give me one when we all start Taebo tomorrow. Oh, and tomorrow is weigh-in day, woo-hoo!

Okay, talk to you all later!

01-13-2006, 02:19 PM
Cindy: Yeah, I have hipbones,....Its just too bad I can only tell when I am lying on my side, LOL. A couple of weeks ago I found my long lost collar bones, LOL.

I'll be SO glad when my tae bo boot camp tapes get here....Although I kNOW that I'll ony be able to do about 10 minutes for a while, LOL Billy really makes you work, LOL. Today I did my Kathy Smith video again and this time I added about 5 minutes of the 2nd workout to my usual 20min quickie workout. So that w/ the cool down stretch at the end gave me a full 30mins of exercise for the day. Only 16 oz of water so far though, so I gotta get busy on that.

Christian is feeling much better, thank goodness. And Haleigh is down to only needing the nebulizer treatments once before bed, and once when she wakes up to break up the crud that collected in her lungs over night... She is feeling much better and She will join Christian back at school on monday.

Chris: Sorry your daughter is getting sick again. This stuff just will NOT let go of the kids once they catch it. I hope she feels better soon. And just remember, Spring is ONLY a little over 2 mos away ;)

Danielle, Welcome! I am 25 also. I have 2 beautiful kids. Christian 6, and Haleigh 5. Are we married to the same guy, LOL. Seriously though, congrats on getting all that walking in. Its one of the best exercises you can do (and easiest too) I love to walk, but since I live out in the boonies, I dont really have a safe place to walk. BUT DH is supposed to be getting me a treadmill next month, but we'll see how that goes, LOL. Anyways, I look forward to reading your posts. Good Luck!

Well Ladies I have to get off here and get ready to go pick up Christian. Then we are going to my moms house for dinner. I'll check in tomorrow :)

01-13-2006, 08:42 PM
Hi everyone thanks so much for the support, It also helps that you can see everyone making progress it is really encouraging. Sometimes when you think about how much you have to lose it can be so discouraging. Its nice to talk to others. Any other sahm in northwest indiana? I wasn't able to workout today but I hope I can go tommorrow morning(hubby is off).housework is calling better do it while I still have energy!!!!!!!!!!!!

01-13-2006, 08:47 PM
Amanda, before I get off here also wanted to say I hope your kids get better very soon!!!!!! I know its so difficult to take care of them when they are sick especially when their is more than one child. God bless you and your family.

01-14-2006, 01:17 AM
Hi all, I"m not even going to try to catch up with all the posts. I've been working on my quilt and my wrist hurts.

All in all its been a fairly decent day. My nephew has the crud going around. I watched my sisters kids while she took him to the doctor. He's 17 months old...with double ear infections again, and he's wheezing, and his oxygen level is down. I loaned her my nebulizer again. Poor little guy. He gets so miserable.

I'm trying to ignore my growling tummy. It's hard. I tried the prescription appetite suppressants but I felt so weird and my head felt awful, so I quit taking them. I had some kind of attack where my legs went numb and my abdomen was burning from my neck down to my waist. Don't know if it was because of those, but it scared me to death.

I'm trying to do this the old fashioned way but it's alot harder.

Gotta go...and let my wrist rest. That's the pains of having rheumaotoid arthritis. Simple things make the worst pains.

01-14-2006, 01:23 AM
I'm back! It's time to play catch up. *laugh*
My brother in law got married and we had house guests that came up for the wedding for 4 days. We've been busy and had a lot of chaos.

I can say that my weigh in this morning was 221.6 which means I've not really lost or gained. :D

Now it's time to get working again.

01-14-2006, 10:31 AM

01-14-2006, 11:06 AM
Saturday weigh-in: DOWN 2 pounds! Woo-hoo! Although I really feel giant lately. Maybe it's because of my monthly friend. Maybe next week I'll really start to feel like I'm getting back to normal.

Hi Julie, welcome back! Glad to hear you didn't gain, especially through all the festivities. That's quite an accomplishment!

Danielle: Nope, not Indiana here... I'm in Atlanta. Although I grew up sort of near your neck of the woods, in the far northern suburbs of Chicago. So maybe there's a good chance we have the same accent!

Chris: Sorry to hear about your nephew. He's the same age as my little guy, I can't imagine how horrible it must be for his mother to see him so sick. As far as your appetite, I've found that eating snacks with protein really helps to keep me feeling full. Things like peanuts, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, stuff like that. Also, it gives you energy that you need for working out.

Alisha: You get a "Woo-hoo!" today just because! You are so motivating to all of us. As far as your question to me, what did I order at McD? Was it healthy? It most certainly was NOT healthy, and it shall remain nameless lest I give it the credibility it most definitely does NOT deserve! (Oh, but it sure was tasty.....)

Menu today:
Kashi Go-Lean Crunch cereal with whole milk
Coffee with powdered creamer and some milk
Orange juice

Uh.... we'll be out today running errands and will probably eat somewhere... but I'll make a vow right now that wherever we go we'll get a salad and water.

Dinner: (Boy, Alisha, you sure are making me plan ahead! I guess that's the idea, right?)
My husband's Famous Fried Rice (yes, he uses some butter but not a ton)
Steamed veggies

Snacks: Pretzels, cheese

On another note, my son decided a few months ago that one of my old Beanie Babies is his favorite thing in the world. He doesn't go anywhere without it and there have been a few close calls where we thought we lost him (the Beanie Baby, not the son!). Anyway, I am thrilled that I found another one on eBay yesterday and I ordered it for a back up. Very exciting! And it's one of the teeny ones from McD's a few years ago, so it was only 99 cents! (I know, it doesn't take much to get me excited about something).

Have a good day/weekend, Ladies!

01-14-2006, 11:26 AM
Weighed in this morning - up half a pound, but since last week was a 6 pound loss (unrealistic) I think things are more accurate this week. I'm down 5.5 lb over two weeks - pretty good! Baby is up, so I gotta go. I had raisin bran and skim milk for breakfast.

01-14-2006, 11:31 AM
Good Morning Ladies!

Alisha: Have you tried the boot camp videos yet? I am excited that I am getting them but scared, you know, LOL Regular tae bo is hard enough. But I know it will be worth it to tough it out, even if i have to do basic training for a month straight before I can move on to one of the next videos in the series, lol I am SOOOO out of shape.

I only lost about half a pound this week, so I am not going to bother changing my ticker yet. It is time for AF so I am pmsing today, lol. Hopefully next weeks weigh in will be better. Of course another problem is that i forgot my thyroid meds ALL WEEK! I can't believe i forgot to take it. I normally take mine when I give Christian his...I guess I was to preoccupied w/ sick kids to think about it. Oh well.

Here's my menu for today:
Breakfast: Slim fast optima shake 190cals (i'm not a breakfast eater)

Lunch: Not sure...but i'll probably have some raw broccoli w/ ff ranch dressing with whatever it is

Dinner: baked spaghetti w/ garlic bread and mixed veggies

Anyways I gotta get off here for now and get some housework done.

01-14-2006, 12:41 PM
Cindy, when my oldest was a baby, she had her favorite blankie. I found an extra for her so when I was washing one, she wouldn't be without it. She latched on to both of them. So I found a third one. She then found that one too and latched on to all of them. Thought you'd get a kick out of that one. The moral of the story is to hide the extra beanie baby.

I don't have time to get personal with everyone right now but just had to check in. I lost 2 lbs this week, going from 198 to 196. I didn't get a chance to check the scale this am to see if I it had changed from a couple days ago. I forgot and I had to eat so I could get all my medication in for the day. I have to take all my pills for my rheumatoid arthritis on the same day.

Breakfast: 3 eggs, 1/4 cottage cheese....250 calories
Snack: Protein Bar........150 calories
Lunch: Not sure but I have to keep that around 300.
Snack: ??????
Dinner 4 oz steak
4 oz. potato
1 c. veggies of choice

That's about it for me. I'll be walking on my gazelle today or something since I didn't get to the gym yesterday. Jen's baby boy was too sick and he wouldn't let her put him down. He wanted to be held and rocked. HOpe the little monkey feels better today. My gosh....the antibiotics they put him on were expensive enough. $155 dollars for 5 days. The doctor gave her samples for the other 5 days.

01-14-2006, 04:24 PM
Hey ladies i just wanted to pop in and see how everyone is doing!!

Cynthia: :carrot: 2 POUNDS!! You go girl! I am so proud of you. Keep up the GREAT work!! As far as your NOT so HEALTHY choice you made the other day, don't stress, just keep on MOVIN!! You go girl!! I am so happy for you!!

Amanda: Congrats on the loss, something is better than nothing!! :carrot: As far as the bootcamp goes, just stick with it. I really, really think you will like it, i REALLY enjoy it. I think i am too am going to stick to the basic training for about a month and then i will move on.

Chris: You go girl!! Congrats on the loss!! I am so proud of you! Keep up the good work!!

Well so far EVERYONE'S menu's sound GREAT!!! Keep up the good work ladies!!

01-15-2006, 02:18 AM
Alisha, I too fight those impulsive cravings. Sometimes I don't fight hard enough *laugh*.

Cindy, congrats on your loss!! WTG :)

Cat, you're still headed in the right direction. It's good that you see the downward trend instead of the slight gain. *thums up*

Amanda, Yay on feeling your hip bone! I know mine are in there somewhere. *laugh* I hope I find them someday in the near future. ;)

Chris, congrats on the 2 pound loss!

I need to get back to exercising. I've really slacked off since Christmas.

01-15-2006, 10:54 AM
Good morning Sahmmies! Well, my planned menu yesterday didn't quite turn out as planned. We ended up eating at home before going out (which is a good thing) but all we had was ramen noodles (which is a bad thing). Then, I saw a show on Food Network and fell in love with everything that was being cooked, so I went out and got the ingredients and cooked it all for dinner. I was very proud of myself and it was very good, and really not too bad calorie wise. I made chicken cacciatore, smashed potatoes, bruschetta, and chocolate anise biscotti (okay, that last wasn't so healthy!).

Today I've had the usual breakfast (Kashi cereal, oj, instant coffee). For lunch and dinner we will probably have the chicken leftovers, not too bad.

Two "Woo-hoos" for today: The Bears play the Panthers (I'm a Bears fan) and 24 starts tonight. We're going to Lowe's to get some more paint and start painting the kitchen cabinets today. So it's a full day in our household. How about all of you?

Okay, have to go for now and check on my men. Talk to you later!

01-15-2006, 02:57 PM
Hi, ladies! Here I am, ready *again* to start eating right. I'm looking into the South Beach Diet (modified for my health concerns), but I get confused about what to eat. I'm posting on a website about the SBD to see if I can get some easy-to-understand help. I had salad for lunch yesterday and with dinner last night, and I had salad with lunch today. That's really good for me. And I haven't had any pop-tarts this weekend! (Of course, we didn't have any, so that would seem to be the actual reason, *but* I purposely didn't buy them at the store yesterday. Woo-hoo!)

Just wanted to say hi. :)

01-15-2006, 07:02 PM
Hi, FitChick, welcome! I am working right now to make sure that the 'bad stuff' stays at the grocery store, and never gets into my cart! I think changes like that help with permanent lifestyle changes.

It's been a nice weekend. My 'actual' weekend is Wed- Thu, when hubby is off, but this weekend, baby and I went to visit some neighbors. Took them eggs and visited a bit - it was nice. I made a pretty healthy meat loaf yesterday - filled it with lots of hidden veggies. Hubby really liked it, and couldn't figure out why, lol. I told him I tried some new 'spices' (mushrooms, carrots, onion, celery, tomato and wheat bran mixed in). Anyway, it's been a nice weekend. I was going to make soap today, but I forgot to distill some I'm going to do that today, then make soap tomorrow! I can hardly wait!!

01-15-2006, 09:53 PM
Today was my weigh-in and I gained a pound and a half. I've been doing all the right things this week so I am hoping that this means that I am gaining muscle. But I still don't like the thought of seeing a gain.

01-16-2006, 01:09 AM
Good Evening Ladies. Sorry i am not posting until late, its been a real busy day for me, lots of errands and running around getting things done around the house before the week starts. Anyways...i am glad to see everyone is still posting there menu's mine for today was:

Pop Tart (low fat)

Turkey Sandwhich on Wheat w/mustard
carrot sticks (1 cup)

Chicken Tenders lightly breaded
and 1 cup mash potatoes

Water intake:
98oz...wish it was more...but maybe tomorrow

Cynthia: Your dinner sounds great!! Which show did you get it from, i watch Foodnetwork allllll the time. I love Paula Dean...but she defintly does not cook healthy!!

Tea: It probaly is muscle stay strong!! You are doing a great job, just keep it up. Do you measure yourself in inches?? If not you should.

Sue: South Beah diet?? I personally am not a fan of it, i find it kind of expensive but maybe since your tailoring it to yourself and your own health maybe it will work for you. Good luck! We are here for you.

Cat: Mmmm meatloaf i love meatloaf, but i suck at making it!! Mine always comes out dry!! What is your secret?? Soooooo you make your own soap!! Girl!! You are SUPER woman!!!

Hey ladies i don't know if anyone is interested but i tried a new recipe yesterday its low fat/low cal/ etc... pretty healthy.

1 container of Cool Whip Fat Free
1 Small box of SF FF Instant Pudding Mix (I like Pistachio...but you can use chocolate...etc....)

1 Apple sliced into small pieces.

Mix everything together...and wala....ITS GREAT!!! Mmmmmm i might go get me some!! Have a great night ladies i will chat with you all later.....

01-16-2006, 12:04 PM
Good morning ladies. Saturday's dinner didnt work out as planned. we ended up going to my MIL's house for dinner and we had biscuits and gravy, and fried potatoes, and eggs for dinner ( I had SMALL portions, lol)

SO todays menu is:

Breakfast: None... My tummy was not in an eating mood this morning

Lunch: 2oz tuna w/ mayo on italian bread

Dinner: Baked spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread

Both kids are feeling better and are back to school today, thank goodness :) So today I am going to be catching up on housework and start decluttering. I am so sick of having so much STUFF around, lol. and most of it is junk...Oh well, I'll count all that as my strength training for today, lol.

Cynthia: That dinner sound delicious, lol. I really miss watching food network, LOL. I gotta get my satellite dish hooked back up soon.

Cat: Meatloaf is one of my favorite things, lol. especially with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes on the side. I have started "hiding" veggies in mine also. Hubby cant tell the difference ;)

Well, I gotta get off my rear and get moving or I'm not going to accomplish anything today. Talk to you all later

01-16-2006, 07:25 PM
ok...I want to be in a bikini by this summer...we have a neighborhood pool and I'll probably meet w/ a bunch of moms there alot this summer. I had a baby last summer and didn't go at all. Lost all of my weight breastfeeding but since I stopped I have gained. I need to lose about 15 pounds to do get back into old swimsuits. I am guessing on this b/c I don't weigh myself-just go by how clothes fit. Pool opens around memorial day. I have been eating b/w 1200 and 2000 calories. (1200-1700 weekdays roughly 2000 weekends) My weaknesses are not exercising, sweets and alcohol  ...and I can't stand being hungry. I have been walking at least 30 minutes- up to one hour 3-5 times weekly. Am I going to be ready???????????

01-16-2006, 08:30 PM
Alisha, I saw your dessert recipe in your post and here is another good one to try.

1 container of ff cool whip
1 large container of ff cottage cheese
1 sm. envelope of sf jello mix

Mix all together and chill. It tastes awesome. Just use the powder in the jello mix, no water. I did mine with lime jello and it was delicious.

Ed-I am soo jealous. I would love to be where you are at. 15 lbs by Memorial Day. You have that one licked. NO problem. I'm shooting for having most of my weight gone by June. I have around 40 more to go. I'm over a 1/3 of the way there.

Sorry so short. I have ta get dinner going. I worked today and tonight is gym night with my sister. Talk to you in a bit, if least I'll check in in the morning.

01-16-2006, 09:25 PM
thanks chris...but am I doing it right??? I'm jealous that all of you go to the gym and I can't make myself....

01-17-2006, 12:38 AM
Ed - :welcome2: Wish I had only 15 to lose!! lol YOu can do it. But do it healthy, eat healthy and exercise. EXERCISE!! If you are getting hungry, you might need to tweek your diet. I wish you the best!!

Cindy - Down 2lbs, YAY!:carrot: That's great! I am so sorry, but I am a Panthers fan!! :D Can we still be friends? ;) HA, ha!! Glad to hear all is well. Our pediatrician said that he doesn't know what's going on with everyone being so sick, He is amazed b/c we are only half way through cold & flu season!!! Lysol anyone??

Amanda - I am so late on this one, COOL, hipbones, huh? That's great!:carrot: Oh, yeah take your thyroid meds!!! I had the same problem when I was sick & I gained 5 pounds!

Chris - Hope ya'll are better! :D

Danielle - :welcome: I hope you enjoy it here! Looks like you have your hands full!! I'm carafre, sahm to my 3 year old girl & 17 month old son! I've been married for 7 years & together w. dh for 9! I love it here.

Julie - HI!!! So glad you're back! Are you exercising still?

Cat - :carrot: 5.5 gone!! Yay!! I must say that I hide veggies in everything, but meatloaf is the best for shredded carrots & oat bran!!

Fit (Sue) - Hi and welcome!:welcome3: It is great here!

Alisha - sounds like you are doing so well, girl! You are the MOTIVATOR (spoken in Arnold (terminator) voice!)!!!! Still my hero! Have a great night!

As for me I will make this quick since I've used my 2500 word limit for today - I started Curves Saturday and like it. I also went Monday morning and plan on going Tuesday morning. I am also exercising at home, too. My Taebo video should be here soon. I am so excited about starting it!! I also modified my out of control eating. I haven't snacked after my cut off time in a week. I gotta go!

01-17-2006, 02:03 AM
I think the 'secret' to a moister meatloaf is just to go easy on the dry stuff like breadcrumbs. Veggies help because they are not so dry, and I use 2 eggs instead of 1.

So, what did I eat today?

B: Hubby made pancakes - I had one with maple sugar (not syrup, but sugar - very yummy stuff!) and some skim milk.

L: PBJ on homemade whole wheat bread, and an apple

Sn: A big ol glass of diet pepsi - I was feeling sleepy and logy, needed the caffeine.

S: Baked chicken with Kahlbi (Korean BBQ sauce), Rice, and a mix of veggies I whipped up - carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, onion, cabbage. Also a little cherry cobbler - home-made, lowfat. Cherries were from our tree, we grew the chicken, everything else was 'normal', lol. It was a pretty good day, though it was long and busy and I'm pretty tired. It's also gotten hella cold here overnight - it was in the 60's one day, the low 30's and windy the next. Mew!

01-17-2006, 09:29 AM

Cat: Your dinner sounds great!! Where do you find the time?? I will have to try your meatloaf tips if i decide to give it a try again....maybe that is what i was doing wrong too much bread crumbs.

Cara: Is curves expensive? I thought about it, but i can't afford to spend alot of money, like most Gym Memberships cost! You go girl! I am so proud of you that you took that step to do SOMETHING for YOURSELF!! :carrot:

Ed: Sounds like to me, that you are doing it right!! Your lucky that you only have 15 pounds to loose. I WISH i had only 15 pounds too loose, i am jealous!! I also agree with Cara...if you are still hungry maybe you should look at what you are eating, eat more protien instead of sweets and carbs, maybe more fiber enriched stuff!! Good luck!

Amanda: WOOHOO The kids are back in school...TIME TO CELEBRATE!! :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: LOL!!

Chris: Good job at sticking to the Gym, how is it going. You see a difference yet?

Hey all...morning to ya.

No time for really getting personal but just had to check in.

Ed-you were wondering if you were doing it right? and noticing that everyone goes to the gym. I have only been going for the last 3 weeks. Exercise is not my strong point either. I'm using my sister as my exercise buddy, so we can keep eachother motivated. If you have someone to go through it with, it really does help a great deal. I keep her accountable and she keeps me accountable. As far as eating goes, I agree with eating more protein foods. My doctor has me doing high protein snacks between meals and my meals are more protein based. Good proteins though and not over doing it. I still eat veggies, fruits, and some nasty carbs here and there. I'm lucky to a certain extent, to have an allergy to yeast, so that cuts out breads, pizza, donuts, etc.

Okay...gotta go. Laundry is looking at me and I should at least get that done today. Tiana has dance tonight and basketball tomorrow. My schedule is gonna be loaded. My semester break is over and tomorrow I head back to school. Busy Busy Busy....

Hi Kathy!! Welcome!!

Ok, I went to Curves again today! I love being able to get in & out! Oh, and it wasn't very expensive. Well, compared to the other gyms & such I checked out. I think it would be something like 30 dollars a month. They were having an offer for half off sign-up fee, so I went & checked it out. LOVE IT!! I paid it all in full b/c I know I will use it. It was about $429.00 for the whole year including sign-up!! I am happy & Billy is on his way here!! Taebo! :D I better go!

Hi Ladies!

Carafre: Yay for you for going to Curves! I've never been there, but I used to go to Gold's Gym and I loved it. Are you doing any of the classes or just the machines? When I first signed up to Gold's, we got 3 sessions with a personal trainer. That was very cool. I learned a lot of information from him and still remember and utilize what I learned.

Kathy: Welcome! Hope you enjoy it here, this is a great group of motivating ladies! Good luck with your weight-loss goals.

Alisha: I haven't posted my menus lately because meals have been last-minute lately. Your menu choices today sound yummy! Especially dinner.... hmmm, I have some whole wheat bread that I need to use before it molds, maybe I'll have the same dinner you're having!

I'm with you on the water intake. We now have a fridge with the water on the outside and I don't like buying bottled water when I have filtered water available all the time. So without the bottles it's harder for me to keep track of what I'm drinking. I have some large water sport bottle things, but I hate using those because after awhile they start to taste like whatever you've been eating! So I think it may be time for a water challenge soon. What do you say, fellow Sahmmies, are you up for it??

I've been painting the kitchen and family room this week. I've almost finished painting the kitchen cabinets, and they are looking great. I thought it would be the biggest pain to get those done and was dreading it, but it's actually kind of fun. I was up until 12:30 last night putting the first coat on all the cabinet doors. I think I will be an expert on painting when this house is finally "done".

Did anyone catch 24? I don't think anyone else here watches it because no one responded to my last post about it. So I'll ask instead if any caught American Idol last night? Yes, I watched it last year so we thought we'd take a look again this year. After it was over last night, my husband looked over at me and said, "We just wasted two hours of our lives that we'll never get back." Ha! I agree. If we watch again tonight I think we'll just turn it on and listen while we do something else.

Okay, I'll go for now. Talk to you later! - Cindy

Hello all! I am still waiting on my videos to arrive. I hope they'll be here by Sat!! I am ready to TAEBO!! I will not be posting my meals. It hurts me more than it helps to write down everything. I am eating very well and have been for several weeks now! I say YES to another water challenge!! The challenges really helped me out. When do we start?? Alisha - Curves doesn't have childcare, but that's part of the reason I like it. I need to get away and focus on me. I have lots of exercise eqipment here (that I will use in tandum w. Curves) but soley (for me) working out at home is hit & miss w/ me. I'd attend to the kids when I should've been working out. I need a constant. OOps gotta go will return soon.

01-18-2006, 08:49 PM
I have changed my goal from 15 pounds to 25...I weighed myself and have lost 10 so far. I don't weigh often but I think I am going to start. I was shocked to see how much I actually do weigh. What is a Water challenge??? I tryto get 64 oz daily.

question: what low calorie/high protein or fiber snacks do ya'll eat???

01-19-2006, 12:01 AM
Ed-I get protein bars from my doctor for snacks. Hard boiled eggs are good. 1 oz of cheese, lunchmeat, cottage cheese, yogurt, milk. There is alot of options out there. For other protein ideas, you can check out some food lists for the South Beach diet. They have great ideas.

Not much happening today ladies. I didn't get to the gym but walked/jogged for 1/2 hour on my sisters treadmill. I started back to school today. I figured it would be an easier semester but I already have assignments due on Friday and some due on Sunday. Yikes.

Gotta work tomorrow so I'll check with everyone in the evening. I may get to the gym. It depends on if I can get my hubby to watch our kids and my niece and nephew.

Sleepy time for the munchkins. We have mini meltdowns happening again.

01-19-2006, 09:52 AM
Good Morning Ladies, how is everyone doing? Good i hope! Hey, how about we just drop posting our menus since it is hard for people. Not a big deal......

Cara: Hey, can you pass the lysol down....i think i am coming down with something yesterday i was nauseous and stuffy and congested and, i hate being sick!! Unfort. i could not attend curves because it does not have a childcare.....i just don't have the time to go when my hubby is at home from work/school, oh well...i will just keep up with my Taebo......Good luck with Curves and GOOD LUCK with Taebo when you get it!!

Cynthia: I AM TOTALLY up for another WATER challenge!! Sounds good to me!! When should we start??

Ed: Cheese Sticks (mozz low fat) is good quick pick me up. Yogurt defintly....eggs but they can be high in cholest. so i don't eat much of those. High fiber cereal like raisen bran w/skim milk......

Chris: Good for you, even though you didn't go to the Gym you still got a work out in!! Thats great!!

Well ladies i am going to jump off here i will chat with you all soon!!

Good Morning SAHMommies! I havent been online much over the last few days. i've been trying to get a head start on spring cleaning, working my partyplan biz, and trying to finish up some minor projects around the house.

I too agree that we need a water challenge, that is one area that I really need to improve.

Cara: I'm still waiting for my tae bo boot camp also,LOL. I thought for sure mine would be here by now...

Anyways I have to get off here and get some things done. I have laundry to catch up on and I have to type a cover letter for the fundraiser I'm doing and try to clean out the kids' toy boxes.

I'll check in later

OOPS! Sorry, I dont know why that posted twice ;)

01-19-2006, 08:42 PM
what the f is a water challenge????????????????

01-19-2006, 10:02 PM
A water challenge is where you're challenged by others in the group to drink a certain amount of water in a day. On a thread I was with before, we did water challenges, mini challenges, and exercise challenges, etc. Kind of fun and keeps you focused on a goal for the day.

Good evening Ladies...Billy's Boot Camp has FINALLY Arrived!!!! I'm going to tackle basic training starting tomorrow morning ;) I have set up a workout schedule that I think will work well for me right now. On Mon, Wed, and Fri I will do boot camp, and on Tues, Thurs, and Sat I will do my Kathy smith video. That way I will be getting in Plenty of exercise, but by alternating the boot camp with the Kathy smith aerobics I wont burn myself out ( I know that there is NO way I could do 6days of tae bo every week, lol talk about getting sore) Plus since the boot camp uses the resistance bands, it will serve as a bit of a strength training workout as well. I'm really excited that i finally got my bootcamp, lol. Maybe this is the motivation I needed

Someone Please give me a swift, HARD kick in the butt, lol....I have eaten so bad today, that I am ashamed to even admit it... I'm back on track 1st thing in the morning, and I am going to start using fitday again to keep myself in check...I have slacked off from logging my foods and I can Really tell the difference already.

So, do you all want to start a water challenge on Saturday? Hmm, maybe we should re-introduce the weekly challenges...what do y'all think?

Anyways, I gotta get off here and get to bed, I can barely hold my eyes open. Have a great night :)

01-19-2006, 11:25 PM
Good Night Ladies! I just wanted to pop in here and see how everyone was doing, i think i am going to go to bed, i don't feel too good, this cold is really getting too me, i started to feel better, but now i feel worse...i don't know whats up. Maybe i will feel better tomorrow. I didn't get to do my Taebo workout we were at my MIL house for her birthday and we stayed late...and by the time i got home i was really congested so i knew i could bare to make it through i 55 min workout, so i just did some of the different ab moves that he does in the tape, and the squats, i guess somethings in better than nothing...right.

Amanda: I am happy that your tape is finally there, good luck!! I really hope you enjoy it, hey before you do it take your measurements, and see in about a week-month how well you are doing!!

Well ladies i am really tired, so i am going to jump off here, i will chat with you all later! Have a GREAT night!!

01-20-2006, 10:27 AM
Alisha, I hope you feel better soon. take it easy and allow your body to fight off the virus/infection. Also Thanks for reminding me to take measurements, I had completely forgotten, lol. Although, I am kind of afraid to see how big around I really am...

Well, I'd better get off here and do my workout before i lose the motivation to do so. I'll check back in later.

Oh, Today's menu
Breakfast: Slim fast optima shake 190cals

Lunch: dont know yet

Dinner: baked porkchop, mashed potatoes, and green beans

01-20-2006, 03:00 PM
Alisha - I really hope you are better soon!! Passing the Lysol your way, sweetie!! Take it easy & rest!!!! Don't worry about exercising right now, let your body get better!! :D

Hope all is well. I don't have much time so I will check in later.

01-20-2006, 07:51 PM
I received my Billy Blanks tapes today!!! So how about video/water challenge Sat.? Any takers?//// :D :carrot:

01-20-2006, 09:49 PM
Cara I'm in for the challenge!

I tried out Billy's boot camp "Basic Training" today...can I just say OUCH, lol. I know that video is going to provide results, lol. and those resistance bands are really tough, lol. Or maybe I am just a weakling, ;) I loved it though. I am going to stick w/ my plan to do the bootcamp on Mon, Wed, and Fri. and do Kathy smith on Tues, Thurs, and Sat. I'm ready to get the scale moving again!

Anywho, I gotta get off here and get the kids tucked in bed. I'll talk to you ladies tomorrow

01-20-2006, 11:09 PM
I'm up for a water challenge. I don't have the tapes and probably won't get them. Living in a condo we have neighbors directly below us.

01-21-2006, 12:43 AM
I'll do the water challenge. I don't have the boot camp videos but my sister and I are going to the gym tomorrow. Does that count?

01-21-2006, 01:14 AM
Need *serious* motivational help! Want to lose weight, but want to eat, eat, eat!! Thanks in advance. (Not on any diet or healthy eating plan yet.)

01-21-2006, 02:30 AM
I guess by motivation, you also mean you need support too. You came to the right place. Not sure if I've seen any post from you before. The first step to being healthy and fit is to get on an eating plan and exercise. If you're fairly sedetary, I personally would recommend walking. It's an easy activity, burns calories, is inexpensive and can be done pretty much anywhere by anybody.

There is some links on the internet where you can find out what your calorie intake should be for your weight, age, and activity level. I can't remember them right off hand but I could check into it for ya.

Also another helpful hint, drink plenty of water. It does work. I'm glad you found this thread. I'm one of the newer ones on this one, but have been a member of the 3 fat chicks web site for almost 2 yrs now. Wow...that's scary to think about. You'll love it here.
