Hope nobody minds that I started this thread, but I posted in November and realized Omigosh, it is now December. 23 more sleeps until Christmas! :gift2:

I had to add my NSV from last night. I was over at a friend's house for dinner last night, and when taking servings for myself, I took just enough (to the point where I could see the plate). This is a big thing for me as portion control is such a huge issue with me, that for me just to take enough and not be stuffed by the end of dinner was great. The fact that I left the table satisifed but not full was a great feeling!

Boy do I need this thread as I am having issues with the scale atm. :tantrum:

My NSV is that today I was able to walk on the treadmill for 10 min of my workout at an 8% incline going 3.0 mi/hr and then could do 15 min at 3.4 mi/hr @ a 2% incline. It has only been a couple weeks since I started and I started walking at a 2% incline @ 2.6-2.8 mi/hr.:tread:

Also I can do an hour on either the elliptical or the treadmill now. The first day we got the elliptical I could do about 5 min.

So my fitness is stedily improving. I wish the scale would show more improvement.

Awesome, Victoria and Carol!

My NSV so far--I've walked two days in a row for 30 minutes! This is MAJOR accomplishment for me.

And today, I'm gonna make it three days in a row! :)

My NSV is going to be that I will look fab at tonight's office Christmas party. I've not got changed yet, but I just know that I'm going to look better than they've ever seen me. This is the image I've had in my head all year, that I'd be getting towards goal for the party season, and even though the party is going to be less dressy than I hoped I'm still planning to wear a fab dress. Who cares that other people will be in jeans. I've got a body I'm proud of and I'm determined to flatter it!

Great ones Helen and Jen!

Yesterday I walked into a video store we've been going to for years, though I haven't been there in months. To detract people from walking back out through the entrance, they installed a turnstile. I hate it, because it's kind of narrow and I have to be careful not to get hung up, or worse -- stuck! I am always aware that I do more than brush against the sides. So, I was shocked yesterday when I walked through it and popped out the other side easy as you please! We went back that night, where I confirmed it again!

Great NSV's everyone! I have one of my own to share.
I bought a size 20 pair of jeans at WalMart this morning hoping that I could get into them. I tried them on when I got home. They Fit!! I had been wearing a size 22 jeans. I am so excited.

Great job everyone!

Heres another one for me. Since I started on 11/13 I've lost 2.5" off my chest, 2.25" off my waist, and 0.5" off my hips.

I need to keep focusing on my NSV because the scale is getting me down right now.

There is more room on the couch when I lay down. My tummy seems to be slowly shrinking and I actually have a hint of a rib cage! I also noticed that my newest jeans are starting to fit great! They fit before but they just look better- won't be long and I'll be heading to get some smaller ones.

I worked out 3 times this week after a week long um hiatus. aka turkey coma or something. I

I have a few. My scale is getting stuck again so I'm really focusing on the NON SCALE victories lately. :)
1. Size 18 jeans fit!
2. I tested for my yellow belt in Tae Kwon Do December 1st. I broke my boards on the first try! My first break was two boards at the same time using a turning side kick. The second break was a single board using my hand!

Excellent victories everyone.

My turn to share....
I wanted to purchase a new top for Christmas this year. I've been teetering between XL and L for some time now. The XL's didn't seem to fit quite right but neither did the L's.

I went into one of my favourite stores and picked out 6 tops that I liked, all in size large. I wanted to see which ones looked the best and go back for an XL if I needed to. Well - they all fit. I couldn't beleive it! I can really go into a regular clothing store and pick something off the rack and have it fit!

I bought the prettiest and most expensive as a reward for myself!

This is always my FAVORITE thread. Everyone is really doing a great job. It seems like we are all starting to come out of the funk that was going around the past month or so.

Dee - you are in big trouble now! I hardly ever spent money on clothes before. But once I could fit into regular clothes and really LIKED how I looked in them...well, let me just say that the urge to buy clothes now is as strong as the urge to buy food used to be. It is just so much fun trying on clothes and feeling normal. Even when I don't have the money to shop I find myself in the stores just trying things on for fun! I am glad you decided to reward yourself with the prettiest top - you deserve it!

Okay, I had and NSV this morning albeit a silly one. I'm cleaning house and setting up my Christmas houses today so I haven't gotten dressed yet. When I took DS to school this morning I just threw on what was warm and close, my husbands flannel pajama bottoms and one of his old college sweatshirts, and then threw my hair up in a clip. As I was putting stuff away in our closet I caught a glimpse of myself in our full length mirror. To my amazment, I looked pretty cute wearing DH's oversized clothes! I've always wanted to be able to wear some of his stuff but I was so big and round that I felt manish in them. They weren't exactly oversized back then since I was heavier than he was so there was nothing feminine about me wearing them. LOL. It was fun to realize that I look and feel better dressed way, way down than I used to look and feel when I was dressed up.

I have my first NSV! Last night I had an emergency with my German Shepherd, Samson. I have two other dogs also, Bilbo, yellow lab, and Riley, a pointer.

I got home from work around 6:10 and found that they had been fighting. Now they "play fight" all the time so I don't worry about it, but apparently this one got out of control. Samson was filthy, caked in mud, and walking slowly. This is very unlike him since he is just 8 months old and a lively dog. I bathed him and he kept pulling away from me. I glanced down at the bathroom floor and noticed blood spots all over the floor. So I got him to the emergency vet hospital (which is quite a ways away) by 8:00.....found he had a bite from my lab's teeth that punctured his side and had made quite a good size hole from which he was bleeding quite profusely.

Anyway, after all this trauma, I am driving home with him and wanting to comfort myself with fast food. This has been a regular pattern with me.....any little incident, a hard day at work, a stressful conversation, whatever, leads to "I deserve some fast food." I'm thinking about different restaurants I will pass on the way home, and then I stopped my thinking and said....."I've just had a hard, tough experience, but I deserve to take better care of myself and stay on the path to lifestyle change and not go back to the same old behaviors." And so I passed every restaurant and went right on home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a MAJOR NSV for me. Thanks for letting me share.

And Samson is going to be fine, by the way. He has some staples in his side and will be on antibiotics for a couple of weeks.

Guindalf47 - That's an awesome accomplishment of not giving into the fast food. I hope your puppy is doing ok

jawsmom - I can't wait to look good in the not-so-good-looking clothes. Like you mentioned, I've been noticing clothes more and more lately. I've never been much of a shopper, but perhaps that's because I never really liked how the clothes looked on me. I'm trying not to buy too many things because I've been going through sizes at lightning speed (or so it seems in retrospect). I tend to shop at the consignment and second hand shops while I'm battling the bulge - but I absolutely had to have something new for Christmas.

SAPF - Victoria's Secret, whoo hoo!

Excellent victories everyone - keep em coming!

What sizes does VS carry?

Great thread. Love this thread.

I have so many NSVs that it is tough to choose. I think the main one is this: I can do things so much more easily now. Since I have 3 small children, I have to wipe up our kitchen floor about 5-6 times a day. It has always been very tough on me. In fact, before I started exercising in July, I used to make up games o get my 5 year old to help. But the other day, as I was wiping it up for the nth time, I realized that it is so easy. I don't breathe hard. I don't hurt. It is just quick and painless and I am noticing this about all of my daily chores. I don't fret anymore that I ALWAYS forget things upstairs and end up taking 2 trips. I don't mind having to clean up toys all day and even shoveling snow. I used to watch other moms and wonder why they had so much energy. Now I know -- they were healthy. And now so am I.

Oh -- and I HAD to get new underwear because my old ones might as well have doubled as a bra -- they were so high up on my body.

I'm very proud of myself tonight and it is definitely a victory for me.

For dinner I made Italian turkey sausage with brown rice and beans and salad. I was finally able to find the hot sausage so I was very excited and it was sooooo good. But the serving size is only 1 link (I was pretty pissed to say the least) but having another one would have added 200-300 calories to my intake for the day but I wanted another sooo bad. So after I ate the sausage and rice I decided to have my salad. After the salad I was still kind of hungry but instead of having another sausage I cut up an apple and had that. By the time I was done, I was good and satisfied and I didn't want the sausage anymore. I'm glad I didn't eat it because even though it wouldn't be the case, if I ate it and then gained weight or didn't lose at all, I would have blamed on that one sausage and been mad at myself. So I am just proud that I am making better food choices for myself and much more aware of what I put in my mouth.

Victoria's Secret, eh? I've always thought of them as the pencil-thin girls' store. Maybe I'll have to check them out. Should I take Howie with me or surprise him?

These NSV's are terrific! The scale's stuck for me the last two weigh-in's, and I'm still at 201. However, I am happy with how Thanksgiving day went (I'm a little late mentioning that). I was not on plan, but I didn't just settle down and put on the feed bag, either.

NSV today: I cooked up a big batch of turkey vegetable soup. That might not sound like much, but to me, it means I am consciously keeping myself on track by guaranteeing healthy, nutritious and satisfying meals. The last thing I felt like doing was making up a big batch of soup, but I knew it would get me thinking about eating healthy stuff and enjoying that thought process. Here's to soup!

My NSV is that I needed a tissue in the car this morning and I didn't have any fastfood napkins in the basket anymore, because I don't go to fastfood restaurants any more! I used to have stacks and stacks of them!!!! I'm not on a firstname basis with the clerks at the drive-thru's anymore!!! I just thought that was cool....sure spent a lot of money on that "food" too! I have two for you today :D

Firstly I was meeting a friend I've not seen for a while for lunch. We arranged where to meet - and she walked straight past me because she didn't recognise me.

Then I ordered a proper salad for the first time ever. As I was eating it I realised that this time last year the only part of it I'd have liked was the chicken, whereas today I ate it all, other than half of the brocolli (it was a warm chicken, butternut squash, rocket, watercress and brocolli salad). Far better than yesterday's choice of cheese and bacon burger with chips...

Does your some still do Tae Kwon Do?

For a while he helped a friend get a karate business up and going. Then he tried working around his free lancing schedule working at another karate place. It has not worked out for him to keep up with his martial arts. I know he loves free lancing for Skyline media and he loves his martial arts but right now he does not have time to do both right now. He is young (24) he'll get if figured out.

My NSV today came at physical therapy. I've been doing a lot of exercises/strength training for my upper arms. I pulled out the IT bands I'd been using and just felt so little resistance -- I needed to move up to the next level. I also moved up to higher weights in another exercise. Overall, I'm just feeling stronger in a part of me that has been weak for too long! Feels good seeing these kinds of improvements!

Victoria -- way to go! A jog! I'd love to jog a little but have been told that because of my back I shouldn't -- YET. I'll get there.

I had another victory. I had a moment yesterday when I was feeling really down and depressed and I REALLY wanted to eat the bag of cheetos in the cupboard (which I have been eating one ounce at a time!). But I didn't. I reminded myself that it might taste good at the time, but wouldn't fix the problem. I fixed myself a cup of tea and left the kitchen. After a while, I went and exercised. After that, I no longer wanted the stupid cheetos. I don't think I'm a huge emotional eater, but I know that in the past that bag would have been DUST!

I am so excited, I can't wait to share these NSV's. Flying out to Nevada on Monday I was able to put the table across my lap without my stomach being in the way.
