i figured that you had to drink the water too, but was not told, and i was also told that the veggies were unlimited and it states that you can only have 2.

i have not had anything but some tea this morning, so feeling good not hungry at all. getting ready to have my first cantalope and orange. i hope that i am getting enough cant. there were no fresh ones so i had to buy the fresh pre cut ones, but i figured that 1/8 is not really that much, so i figured 1/2 cup. hope that is right.

Burr - it's cold here in the great lake state and is suppose to snow shortly. Really glad I picked up that new wool winter coat last weekend (at half price):carrot:

Hey Regina - Thanksgiving at church sounds like lots of good food to me:hungry: With you record at losing - you'll drop the extra Thanksgiving/Bronson weight real quick. Besides keep in mind holidays are just plain hard for us humans;)

Beanie - Good for you calling out all the MIA's:cp: Here let me add afew:coach: Fiona and Audit Girl:dunno: OH and Beanie, I'm not sure but I think if I remember correctly - I really really dislike TO too.:carrot:

Toria - I have been eyeing that Magic Bullet for awhile now - so glad you gave it a thumbs up, hum....maybe a Christmas present for DH:?: It won't be ther four wheeler he wants but we'll get more use out of it:beach:

Went to the doctor last night, my appointment was at 5:40 p.m. Well I got to see him at 12 midnight...got home at 1:30 a.m. (I'm beat). Anyhow he gave me good reviews, said I'm healing really well. I can exercise:tread: again now and have  next week (is that TMI):o Don't have to go back for 4 months........oh-rah:cheer: He didn't mention my weight and was just very positive about how good I'm doing.......he is a great doctor/person:hug: He also said it was fine to go ahead with my bunion surgery...... That means I will have two weeks to exercise, then have bunion surgery and will be out of exercise commission for 3 weeks again.......dang - I hate it when that happens:mad:

Okay I have to run and do something around here.......catch you chicks later.....

Star - yeah, you have a very good point there ... It is my job to be a good role model for them ... especially my daughter, I don't want her to have the struggles that I have had ... but so far she seems to have wonderful self esteem ... so hopefully I am doing something right ;)

Great news on being able to exercise !! Glad to see you getting back into the swing of things ... Is that love of exercise contagious ?

About the exercise addiction bug. I tell everyone this, well anyone that will listen, just start working out, say 20 minutes a day but keep it up becuz it only takes 21 days to form a habit. I think the addiction comes right after that;)

Beanie - Thanks for the tip on taking it easy with the exercise, but I couldn't work out as hard as I want right now anyhow. I think that has something to do with our bodies knowing more than we do:dizzy: And heck I will enjoy just putting my workout clothes back on........yoga pants, tee shirt, headband, wrist bands, and ofcourse leg warmers -

Well, I have miraculously managed not to gain any weight during the last 2 weeks of being off plan. I finally ate breakfast at 10 a.m. because I knew I should. My appetite is really weak and I am just allowing myself to not mess with the plan. I hate the protein on purple. It's just hard to split up two proteins that huge. I like 2.5 smaller proteins. When I made breakfast, I thought about taking hubby's breakfast burrito from the freezer, but it was tiny and had 300 cal and 21 g of fat. I made my own with a 70 cal tortilla, 1 egg, and half of a 150 calorie beef sausage patty. I used salsa and ff cream cheese (1 tsp of each...very sparse)as my condiments. It was then that I realized this weight just might stay off forever because LAWL has taught me that I feel good when I eat right and I have no desire to eat pigslop anymore. I am going to continue weighing every other day just to make sure I don't start creeping up, but as long as I am maintaining at 177 or 178, I am going to just relax and try to eat healthy. It is just too much for me to be a circle **** right now.

:snow4: Hey Everybody.

Well, today is day 2 of TO. I did REALLY well yesterday and I have to say that going through it with a buddy makes all the difference. Beanie, you ROCK. One more day and we are DONE! YES!

TO day 1 went well. I was hungry but not overwhelmingly so. I weighed this morning and was back down to my pre - Thanksgiving weight, dropped 2+ lbs yesterday. Wow. If I lose even 1 more lb on TO it will be time for me to move the big ticker again. That would be so amazing. So amazing. Could my long long long long long awaited 30 lb avatar be within reach? Do I dare say?

Star - Glad that the dr gave you good news. No I don't think that was TMI. I like your choice of icon. Glad you didn't go with the pilgrim and the turkey, THAT woulda been way TMI. ;)

Norissa - Maybe if you weighed daily and kept a log? Either that or used the WI thread here? I don't think you want the butt-kickers visiting...sounds like that could be brutal. JMHO.

Metal - Who was it that said you keep us in line? They were right, and thank you...:drill: . There's a reason you're down 90 lbs and on maintenance. Can I get a WOO HOO?

Julie - Working in a photo studio sounds like a load of fun. The way you're losing it doesn't seem as if you're having any problems with the plan, but I can relate to the way things go wrong when we forget our foods!

Here's wishing everyone a POP day. Tomorrow I get food again!!!!! :cheer:

Hi ladies: Took me a while to get through the posts since my last entry, I was still reading from Nov but I'm now caught up.

Carm: Woohoo for doing TO. I haven't done that in a while and I think I'm due. I wouldn't tell anyone from the COD, but I love the taste of TO juice. Good thing for me is that it's so expensive using their stuff.

Star: WAKE UP! :sp: Did I scare you? Great news from the Dr, and you must be in great shape in order to heal so quickly. Any restrictions? Remember, you will have to ease into exercising as you are the only one that will know what your current limit will be post surgery. My BIG question is, :yikes: where the heck did you find a doctor that keeps business hours until midnight?

Julie: Are you enjoying working at the studio? Sounds like fun with all the holiday pictures. Good idea about planning and bringing your own food.

MarBear: Welcome back. So glad that you came back and are doing well.

Work is calling me, be back later. Hugs, Sy

SY - yes you scared the heck out of me..
My doctor is a specialist, oncologist/gyoncologist. So most of his patients are refered to him from other doctors, mostly cancer cases. So he works to demand. The first time I went to see him my appointment was at 2:30 pm, I saw him at 8:30. When I got home, went to bed, my phone rang at 12 midnight - it was the doctor telling me that he thought he could be successful with my surgery (after going over all the test results sent to him). That was on Dec 10th 1997, I had the surgery on Dec 23rd and was in the hopital for 6 days.....I had ask him if the surgery could wait til after the new year and he said "you don't wait with cancer."
Anyhow I've had a crush on him ever since....

I can't even say that I have been lurking. I hopped on to read the posts today and everyone has been soooooooo busy on the Nov thread. I think that I am caught up now.:D

We are having a bit of a snow storm here. I had an early class today and made it into Twin (thank God for 4-wheel drive!!!). I used to be so scared to drive on crappy roads, but I am getting better. I seem to do fine, it is the other people out there that don't realize that they may need to SLOW DOWN!!! I got home and my DH was here, he does concrete so they are taking the day off. I think we will go to lunch :carrot:, good thing I have saved my starches so far today. We have definatly had our problems, but the longer I am with him, the more I realize how lucky I really am!!!

I was going to go to COD this am, but I did not make it. I will go in tomorrow, if I am not snowed in :dizzy: !!! I gained a couple pounds over the weekend, did TO on Mon and Tues (kinda'), and I think that I should be in the 170's (I hope!!!).

Hey all that are located west of NYS! Thanks for the snow warnings. We are due more snow this evening. So, you guys get it first. You all are better than the weathermen. :D

Star: I have never heard of a doctor working those hours. You must have a crush on him if you'll wait that long. :( He sounds pretty serious about his job (which is really unusal these days) if he works those hours. You're lucky to have him, and he's lucky people will wait. Guess the only ones that can't wait are the ladies who are having babies. That's to be expected. :dizzy: Glad he takes such great care of you. Star, how is Karen doing (aka RustyWallaceFan)? Send her my greetings.

Hey, Wrigley - where have you been? Welcome back.

Julie: Working again today? Missing your posts.

Marbear: You've done great, keep up the great job.

I'm biting the bullet and going to the COD today. I've been pretty good, so hoping to be down. Anything from 169.8 would be a good thing!

I didn't bring my lunch today, what do you think about my choices? I think I did pretty good? The special was Taco Salad. So, I ordered the following: shredded lettuce, scallions, tomatoes (didn't eat), refried beans (about 1/2 cup), a couple jalapenos with salsa (no meat, no shell, no olives, no cheese, no sour cream, no additional dressing). The girl looked at me like what was the point. LOL! I counted it was P V V and the salsa as a condiment. It was a strange combination because for my starch I had 1/2 c of plain oatmeal and cut up my fresh pineapple (it wasn't that good, but I woke up late and didn't make plans for today). I'm not hungry, but probably shouldn't have had that combination on a day that I was headed to the COD after work.

Hugs to all, Sy

Beanie~ yes I am drinking 100% juice. I drink the Indian Summer Apple juice, it is very cheap and tastes great. I can usually get the big one for $1 on sale. I also use the Tropicana orange juice sometimes since it is 100%
Just take your time in the driving. We got about an inch here and I of course still haven’t got the garage fixed so I had to clean off the car.
How’s TO today?

Star~ which state are you in again? I got a new coat this weekend too (40% +15%) off saved about $100 dollars, and it is so warm. You have a great doctor, wow!

Norissa~ if you want to be accountable tell your kids to watch you, they will be on you like a watch dog, I know my son is. And even the not so nice face is adorable

Carmen~ great job on TO

Mary~ maintaining the past 2 weeks was great and if you are happy then you have reached the only goal that matters

I have reached over 20 lbs lost!!!!!
162.2 this morning. Still not counting my November goal out until Saturday night. I know I won’t make it, but I want to get as close as possible.
I broke down this morning and had to get the digital camera out and take some pics of me a la nude. I don’t see a single pound I have lost and I have lost the weight of my 1 year old God son, so I should see something. Hopefully I can look at the pictures when I loose the next 15 and see something.
Had to password protect those pics though, if my son found them I would be paying for his therapy for years…not a pretty sight.

Sy, my doctor is dedicated. When I was in the hospital it was not unusual for him to show up at 4 a.m. to check on his patients. He doesn't deliver babies though. His wife is a childrens nuro surgeon.....they are from India...
Glad you are doing so well on plan SY - We can do this....

Shennie - Congrats on 20 pounds. Even though you can't see it I'm sure everyone else can. 20 pounds is very visable.....Big Congrats to you!
I live in Michigan, outside of Detroit.......I think I actually got 60% off my coat too and it's nice and warm today......

later.

Carmen~ i take a hair, skin and nails daily vitamin and EFA's (I often forget to take them regularly though so I can't imagine they are doing much)
How are you doing on your waters? after you get all of that extra water out from TO, you will be back on point and just keep water down. because other than that, I proably only get 1-3 POP days and usually 2-5 completely Off P days per month.

I was really upset becaus eI am going to have to get more weeks (unless I make it to 155 by next thursday:D ) but you guys just made me feel so much better. I'm telling you, we should get together and sell the plan and have people visit this site instead of the center for support. You guys are better than any counselor I have ever seen.

Chklithunder
12-01-2005, 04:23 PM
Shennie - Truthfully when I experience a gain it is because I have not had nearly enough water - even if my foods are POP. I usually try to get my water in while I am at work because I take a water pill and I don't like to have to keep getting up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom. I wonder if that might have anything to do with it. Maybe I should space it out more, idunno.

Shennie : chin up dear girl - I'm sure you look divine. Stop being so hard on yourself....you're starting to sound like me.

If I lose weight in the month of December, it will be a Christmas miracle. I have 1/2 dozen highly caloric events to attend now.
Maybe I should get my jaw wired shut!

Mary: Good to see you back. Hope you caught some of the good vibes I sent your way.

This darn thread keeps asking me to login. I almost lost me post but he back button and copied it before I logged in for the third time. Lets hope this one works.

Wrigley - I went to the COD mainly to get the balance of my lites (6 boxes). Not returning anyway. John tried to sell me additional weeks bless his heart. I stopped him and told him that I know he is trying to do his job but NO 'I will not be buying anything else'. I have gained weight which was no surprise to me.

Star - I want your doctor. I was going to ask why it took so long for him to see you for your appointment but I just finished reading your post and understand now. He sounds as if he's worth the wait and is an angel. You can wait for angels to see you. I was in love with my first podiatrist to the point that my ex-husband was kind of jealous. I told him that if he ever was unfortunate enough to have terrible pain in his feet, he would understand why I loved Dr. Zelwin(with his fine self). This man had the chairside manner of a saint. I used to listen to how he talked to children and senior citizens and that was enough for me. He had a genuine heart for his patients and would call me at home to see how I was doing after my surgery. If only they could all be like that.

Shennie - you are crazy with the nude pictures and therapy. It can't be that bad because you almost near goal.

shennie_97
12-01-2005, 05:10 PM
Carmen~ I sometimes get 32 oz in between 8 and 10 at night, so I don’t know either. But I do know that when I don’t get in my water…nothing happens. I am sure TO will get you right on track and ready to go.

Thanks sznn, but you still better not pass me up :)

I am so glad the semester is almost over. I have 1 class tonight and then just have to turn in final papers next week. But I start my spring practicum in January and I have no idea how I am going to make it through that one- I have to work 20 hours a week on top of class and my regular 40 hour job, I swear if I make it to graduation I will be in such a daze I won’t even remember it.

One more thing about my doctor and then I'll shut up. When I was in the pre surgery room this time with my DH, the doc knew DH had hurt his back, well he talked to him about it for 15 minutes, told him what to do, etc. Then he turned to me and said 'your surgery is a piece of cake this time.' It ended up being a four hour surgery, but that's becuz he is so thorough.

Hey chicks -

It's me, checking in late --

Had to get out early for a publicity photo - I was playing fetch and carry - then did some work getting orders ready for people. . . Very interesting work.

It's amazing, but there are associations for everything in this area - we were at the International Association of Fun Parks today - the prez's family has been involved in a family run park in NY (Rochester) for 105 years. Amazing.

Looks like all are doing really well! Haven't gone to WI since Monday, but plan to go tomorrow - I've been leaving so early, that there doesn't seem to be much point to go later - I know I'll be up, and I know I've been OP, except for not getting in all my portions! And got to watch the water!

I did have a NSV today - my size 14 relaxed fit black jeans fit well enough to wear in public! I'm not like a sausage in them!

Star - sounds like your doctor is a marvel - you should send him vitamins at Christmas so he sticks around for several more years!

Norrisa - looks like you have plenty of blackmail pictures for when your DK's become teenagers. . .

Mary - I agree with you about learning to reach for better choices since I've been on LAWL -

Regina - how was Branson? Is it pretty walkable?

SNOW - yuck- I bought firewood this week - the guy said he thought it was going to be a tough winter - deers have more fat, more squirrels doing what squirrels do - bees have built nests/hives higher in trees. . . Just hoping that it stays away . . But with 26 tropical storms (a record) - should be interesting!

Wrigley - glad you are more like yourself today!

Beanie and Carmen - you are doing FAB girls - with TO -

Carmen and Karen - love the new avatars -- okay, Carmen -is it a bookworm??

Sy - have my fingers crossed for you at WI, chickie!

Bre - fingers crossed for you and the job hunt!

Shennie - WOW - nekkid pictures of yourself! Talk about bravery! You are joining Deets in the incredible shrinking woman club.

Sznn - getting my mouth wired shut - that sounds like something they should start selling around the time the T-day turkeys come out. .

Deets - I meant to post on the coffee drink - I'd have been tempted to count it as a dairy and a fat? You're already returning things?

Hugs to all,
Julie

HI All-
Beanie- It has been snowing all day. The flakes are really tiny and dry, but pretty thick. Word on the street is that it is not supposed to stop for a few days!! Yahoo!! I love snow.

We have rented a cabin up near Island Park for Christmas that you have to snowmobile 30 miles into. No water, no electricity. Just an out house, a fireplace, and a cook stove. We are taking my fam of 5, my parents, niece and 2 sisters. I am so excited. We are going to cut a tree and make ornaments, play games, make stockings, sled, snowmobile, the works. We are going for 3 days. Some think that we are crazy, but I say, no MIL clear out there!! LOL We are going to do our gift exchange before we leave, all except for Santa of course. It going to be a real, old fashioned Christmas.

So here is a miracle: DH has been so inspired by my losses and BL, that he has started exercising and copying the way that I eat. I am so thrilled with him. He just has a belly to lose. He has no butt, spindly chicken legs, and a Pepsi gut. He wants to know if he can replace one bar a day with a bottle of Pepsi, since he WILL NOT do diet pop. I asked him how he is going to get any protein out of a bottle of Pepsi. Seriously though, I am really glad that he is thinking about his health more. His dad had a near fatal heart attack at the age of 45, and the Doctor at the hospital told DH that he and his brother should both be really careful about their own heart health, since it runs in families.

Shennie- The nude pics? Halarious!! My kids are also food slappers. They are always asking, "Is dat suga free?"

Star- Sounds like your Doc is a keeper!!

Have a great POP day all!! Katie

Hi Julie - I've missed you today. CONGRATS ON THOSE 14s!!! OOH WEE look at you go! Yes, that's a bookworm. I was so in love with my other avatar I forgot I had others! I decided to retire the sassy lady until I reach ONEderland. That way, I can ask you all if I look good again when she comes back out ! Hopefully, she'll be back by Valentine's Day. I know I won't reach my mini-goal by New Year's, but I can sure work toward it. Question: why do you think you'll be up at WI?

Beanie - where'd you go? I hope you make it home safely in the snowstorm. Here's sending good TO vibes your way for this evening. :wizard: BTW - what do you plan to have for breakfast? For me, I'm thinking blueberries w/ Splenda! YUM!

Star - I am jealous of your dr. Well, not really jealous because I wish only the best for your recovery, but I've NEVER run into any drs that dedicated. My DSs pediatrician would run a close 2nd though so I feel especially blessed to have her. I firmly believe we all deserve the best in healthcare for as much as it costs, and that's one area in which our country is severely lacking. Okay off my :soap: on that topic. But still Star I am so glad to see you in such good hands.

Bre - what type of work do you do? I figure since we are all in the same town I could keep my eyes open as well. I know how the job market is here .

Deets - I hope you enjoy your evening off immensely. We all need a break sometimes, ya know???

Sznn - Best of luck at your 1/2 dozen highly caloric events. Maybe you could volunteer to bring the veggie tray and LAWL OP spinach dip?

Katie- I must say reading about the cabin at first sounded like punishment, but the more I read the better it sounds. Can I come too? ;) That sounds WONderful. We have never just gone away and unplugged. I'll bet it does wonders for your family, but you all are probably already very close, which is great.

Well you all the snow is coming down, just in time for rush hour. I think I may hang around here for another 45 mins or so to give the crazies a chance to clear out of downtown (I opted to drive instead of taking the bus today for some wild reason...).

Morning chicks!

A bright frosty morning here in the DC area -- well, not so bright, but definately frosty!

Hey to the lurkers - I totally understand - hope you find the right time to jump in more often!

Hi M4life22 - welcome!

Katie - you are a better woman than I - I would grumble the whole time, especially with the no plumbing! Now, if you put that on a beach and the temp was about 80 degrees. . . I'd be knocking at your door!

Wrigley - how many oranges did you have?

Bre - what kind of work are you looking for?

Carmen - I meant, no point to go WI in the PM since I know I'll be up. . . I try to keep as many things the same as I can when I WI - same clothes, same food, same time, etc...(sounds like Batman, almost, doesn't it)

Katie - love what you told your DH about the Pepsi -but truthfully, maybe small changes is the best thing? will he drink any water at all?;)

What has happened to Britt??? Hopefully she'll have some vacation soon.

Cindy58: Lurk all you want girl. I'm sure one of these days you'll get the urge to post. Someone is going to say something that you just can't resist commenting on.

Welcome to TeaElleBee and RN4Life22!

Julie: Like Star would say, YOU ROCK! Congrats on the 14s! What a great NSV! Did you catch the name of that family run park in the Rochester, NY? It must have been Sea Breeze? It's a nice park for rides and water slides (not huge like 6 Flags but perfect size for me). Have been there a few times with DN and DN (that's nieces and nephews). Had a blast. Plus, it's very clean.

Repro: Hope my DH doesn't read your post. He's always wanted to do something like that for Christmas. I can't give up Christmas Eve at my Mom's. :^: You're a brave women, and it actually sounds romantic and a nice way to get back into the spirit of how Christmas should be. Normally, I think that staying at an Econo Lodge is ruffing it ;) . Also glad that DH is slowing adding changes to his diet. Good Luck!

Izzy: Hopefully the job market where you're located it much better than in this area. It's a tough world out that in the job market. I'm hoping :crossed: you land a dream job (with the perks and $$).

Wrigley:  :stress: . Congrats to ND. They are a great team. I hate to say it, but who didn't beat :shrug:the Orange this year? Worst year in history for the Orange. Last year, everyone wanted Coach P out of there, and this new :coach: as a lot to prove. So far, he's even making the Coach P haters wishing he was back. :stress: :tantrum: :stress: Just glad it's over for another year. Can't wait to hear what excuses the new coach will have this coming year if they don't win games. Plus the fact, who will want to come to SU to play with a record like that? :stress::stress::stress::stress::stress::stress::s tress::stress:

Hi to everyone else, Sy

Hi chickies:wave:

Whew - it's snowing and freezing here. The only good thing about this weather is my new coat.. (Doesn't take much to make me happy)

Katie - About your cabin, put me on the picky girly list - no plumbing-no go. Plus be sure and take your sleeping bags for warmth at night. DH and I have a double sleeping bag that we use at our up north place. We have heating up there but we just like it:love: - it's snuggly. DH wants to get snowmobiles but I don't know that I want to be out in the cold and snow for that long. I guess if your ride from bar to bar or resturant to resturant (like Harley people) it would be okay.....:D :moped: BUT really the cabin sounds awesome, hope you have a ball!
Also really happy that your DH is joining you in the quest for health, especially with his family health history - he needs to take care of himself.
This makes me think of something I just did for my boys. Their dad died at 47 of a heart attack. I thought of it becuz of my recent very complete physical. I have wanted them to also have extended physicals becuz of extreme heart and cancer family health histories. Well I did complete family histories, both sides for them to take to the doctors with them. This is information about my and their dads grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles, stuff they wouldn't know BUT is really important. Now they will have it for themselves and their kids. Some of the info was hard to get becuz of the age of my mom, aunts and uncles and I don't have that many left. Just something for you to think about. Geez I think I'm starting to sound like a hypochomdriac:?: SORRY:o

Bre - Turbo Jam sounds like real fun......always looking for something new and different. I'm really looking forward to next week and going back to the gym....:carrot:

:welcome3: To you new chicks - stop lurking and come on and say something. As you can tell by my posts - these dear chicks will put up with almost anything - they are:angel: like that. They don't know that I've been banned from many other groups........

Okay so I'm at work, need to go and stir up some work. There doesn't seem to be much to do here today and I'm soooooooooooooo bored. Hope some of you can come out and play....

Hugs......:grouphug:

Cindy, TeaElleBee and RN4Life22~ feel free to lurk or post, but as Sy said eventually you will not be able to resist us.

Julie~ Great NSV :bravo:

Sy~ I’m with you, roughing it for me is no microwave.

Katie~ your DH sounds great. Pretty soon he will be craving water like he does Pepsi.

Beanie, Carmen~ You made it! TO is over :carrot: :carrot:

Star, only if I could loss from just doing Number 4 on your list.

Ok, I’m back in my loosing spurt. I think I have figured it out. One week I don’t loose and then I begin to cheat because I didn’t and then the next week I loose like crazy, so I won’t complain. Down .4 this morning at 161.8. The 150’s are going to feel sooo great.

My entire front yard is now torn up. The city has replaced the sewer line, but they didn't mention that they would take my sidewalk and grass with them. I wonder if I should even attempt to put decorations on the dirt in my front yard now? I probably will just do the house and leave the yard, don't want to draw more attention to it. Can't wait until i move this spring.

Off to DS school for lunch. He has decided he wants to act up at lunch so know he gets to have recess with me and read the Sunday school lessons and then we can both go down to the cafeteria together and have lunch in front of all of his friends. (I am doing all of those things I swore I would never do to my kids. I guess I am an official grown-up, huh?)

:coffee: Hi Everyone.

Well we did it! Beanie, I am so glad that's over, how about you? We survived TO and for my efforts I have dropped 2 more lbs, a total of 4. I was so tempted to say 5 becuz a couple of times this AM the scale dipped a full lb lower, but I won't be greedy and I will take the 4 for now and love it. Today begins a new decade for me FINALLY, and I plan to get to the next lower one asap. It won't be another 3 MONTHS for me to lose another 10 lbs. No, no, no no no. :nono:

TLB, Cindy and Mary – Hi and Welcome. Mary, you are our 2nd Mary on the threads, and there is also another Cindy (WAGal). Don’t be shy ladies, this is a GREAT group of chickies.

Shennie – WTG on losing and BRAVO on the Sunday School lessons and lunch with Mom. Only thing is, your son will probably enjoy that as well, so it’s a win-win situation.

Julie - Gotcha.

Star - Monday is soon enough, right? I plan to hit the FC today. Wasn't going to becuz I got to work so late, but half of my office called off today so I can go, as there is not much demanding my time today. YAY.

SY - Our snow hit last night/today. The drive in to work was a BEAR. Hopefully by the time we're ready to go home the roads will be cleared. Have you all gotten any of it yet?

[QUOTE=Chklithunder]Bre - what type of work do you do? I figure since we are all in the same town I could keep my eyes open as well. I know how the job market is here[QUOTE]

Thanks Carmen - what do I do. Oh me, oh my. You know how when you are in your job you swear that you don't ever want to do this in another life and that's why you went to night school to get your degree so you wouldn't have to. Well, a girl will do what a girl has to do. In my past work life, I was an Executive Assistant, Office Manager, a HR Rep, Sales/Marketing Assistant. I have a 4-year degree(Business Mgmt.) and all kinds of computer training(webpage, html, visual basics, etc.). Your eye will be very much appreciated. BIG{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} to you. Girl, most of good bosses have all moved out of town. It wasn't happening here for them either. I may have to make a run for the border myself. No time soon though.

For lunch I am going to have a salad from the salad bar, and maybe some oatmeal for a snack. Dinner I have not yet figured out (but I do have some catfish that I can bake and some more broccoli - love the stuff. I get my ICBINB spray back today!!!). And then the lites. Wow, so much food!

Sy - I didn't ask him the name of the park - but if it's been there for over 100 years, it's probably the same one! How cool is that?

Carmen - you are such a TO angel. Beanie - I just KNOW you'll have a good WI today.

Bre, I agree with Julie about looking into temp work. I never considered it until I got really desperate. It worked out for me GREAT! I was hired full-time permanent within 6 weeks of starting temp. Yes, they will buy out temp contracts--THANK GOODNESS! I have know some others to get really good jobs the same way. It is a gamble, but sometimes it works out great.

Good morning chicks

So not sure who asked me but I was told to have 1/8 cantaloupe and 1 whole orange 4 X a day for 2 days. Well, I did great yesterday, I was not even really hungry, and I ate chicken breast and broccoli for lunch and the cantaloupe and oranges. I finished the last 2 oranges last night, took my BC Pill and thought I was going to be sick. I had the worse stomach ache; :barf: I thought that I might not make it to the bathroom. So then I went to bed and had a terrible night sleep. I got up this morning and thought, Gosh do I wish it was Sat. I made it in the shower (barely) and got to work. I had some hot tea to ease the pain in the stomach and thought I have to eat something, and already decided that if I ever say another orange it would be too soon. So when we went to breakfast this morning I had some potatoes (hash browns) and 2 sausage patties. I thought the potatoes should help soak up the acid and then the grease from the sausage might help. Well, it eased it a little but boy am I feeling like crap. They sure are going to hear about it tomorrow, that is for sure.

As for drinking the OJ instead, I wish that she would have told me that because I could have done that. I think that the girl who suggested I go on it did not know what she was talking about because she told me I could have unlimited veggies and any 2 lites I want and that is not what the paper said. Whatever.

SY- I know what you mean about coaching and bad teams. Have you seen ND the past few years? I am a huge ND fan, never went there but raised a true fan. :cb:

Bre-John is a nice guy. I have yet to meet with him cause I WI in underwear and bra, it works for me that way at least I am some what consistent with what I am wearing when I WI. He does see like a nice guy though. As for you needing a job, here is a thought if it interests you. You know my company is moving to IL, but they are bringing in temps all the time and that would be something where you can get the money but still be looking for a new job. Just a thought, I think the temp agency is Ever Staff? Not sure if that is right but what the heck it is worth a shot, right.

I am dying to find out if Bob and Suzy hook up. I am not sure if anyone noticed that when they first came out Bob attacked her and then when the show was over off to the side you could see him hugging her and all over her. As many have said I think that they should hook up. Has anyone seen the after photos on NBC.com? Matt looks HOT!!! And so does Suzy, although there are some photos where she looks like she lost a little too much weight. But she looks great none the less.

Shennie- I know what you mean about losing your spurt. I have the same problem, I feel like I did not lose so then I cheat a little bit. That is bad of us, we need to stop. We can do it.:cheer:

I had to go to the foot doctor this morning and the receptionist there knows I am doing LAWL and she say me today and she has not seen me in like a month and the first thing she said was oh my gosh you lost a lot of weight. I guess you really need people who have not seen you in a while to tell you that to know that it is working, right?!

Carmen- have you been out since this morning? The drive to work was okay, the roads not too bad, it was the traffic and the people who do not know how to drive in the snow that was the delay, but I went out at 10am and none of the roads were plowed over here, and with the snow still coming down, I am not sure it will be better or not?

Hope everyone has a great OP day, I know that I am off to a rough start but what can you do.

Chklithunder
12-02-2005, 01:50 PM
Dawn - I left for work this morning at 9:15 (late I know) and didn't get here until 10:33. I-480 was slow but moving, then when I got to 77 it was a parking lot. The killer is that 480 wasn't plowed and 77 was! There wasn't an accident or anything, just sloooow. Now keep in mind that on a good day I can make the drive from my house to work in 12-16 minutes. It was horrible. Now, as I look outside the snow is coming down furiously. I look outside at the parking lot and my car has an inch of new snow on it and this is just from the 2 hours that I've been here.

My DGF and I were just on the phone, she was leaving her home in University and driving into Cleveland for an appt and she said none of the roads look as though they've been done. I just looked at weather.com and they are forecasting between 12 and 16 inches for us. Winter is here!!!

Oh and before I forget - I found my Knudsen's juice at the Heinen's on Chagrin and Lee. The stores near me do not sell it .

Hi all,
Went to COD this morning. I was up a pound, but I had also just exercised, and no BM yet, so, oh well. I told them for hte second time in a row that I am really sick of this stall, and they were just like "Sorry". I told her that I am tired of not getting any answers. She really blew me off. I was a little rude, which I feel bad about. I think that it must be close to that time of the month. I am feeling really grouchy today. Poor DH is sick of me already!! Oh well.

Welcome to all of the Newbies! Feel free to post. We can all use all of the inspiration we can get!!

WTG to all of the losers!!

Beanie- Yes, today I am definitely crazy. Certifiable, actually. Two of my toddlers have been crying all day, and I am in the middle of my student teaching. I had one of my teachers was here for over an hour this morning doing an observation. Let me tell you, it is dang hard to teach preschool and wrestle 2 screaming babies that want held every second. The theory of this class is that you cannot just let little ones cry, you have to hold every second if that is what they require. With infants I agree, but these two are both about 15 months old. They need to learn to self soothe and play. They won't ever learn that if I am always holding them, will they? My nerves are rattled to the bone. This class will be over in two weeks!! I am graduating about December 20th. I can't wait to be done with all of the stress and unrealistic expectations.

My plan for the weekend is to stay POP, drink extra water, and exercise every day. If I WI again Monday w/a gain or no loss, I am going to insist that they change my plan. My sis started out 5 lbs heavier than I started, and they started her on purple, no lites. They started me on red, I have lost 30 lbs, and I am still on red. They said that they will not move me down to purple until I get to 175. I don't get it. Any insight? Katie

Carmen~ WTG, 4 pounds…wow! We haven’t gotten any snow since the snow night before last, and that is all gone from the streets mainly, so it’s not that bad here. Great water intake so far too! What’s your recipe for baking catfish? I just picked some up yesterday and I was going to try to pan fry it with melba toast for breading, but baked would be much healthier.

Beanie~ I am sure you will have a great WI

Wrigley~ thanks for the support

Deets~ you out shopping again :)

Katie~ do you think your exercising might be effecting the stall, maybe you aren’t getting enough calories in? I am far from an expert in the area, but I would agree that 15 month olds should learn to self-soothe. How will they ever learn if you hold them every minute?

Ok lunch with my son did backfire a little. The kids were all like “are you coming back on Monday? Please come back, you can have my lunch!” so I have to find a new punishment, but I am really running out of them and making him stay in the house all weekend w/out TV hurts me more than him because I can’t go outside either and I get stir crazy.

Beanie, I have posted my journal before. It got too time consuming for me though. And now, I'm on maintenance. I would hate to confuse someone with the foods that have been introduced back into my diet. Also, the portion sizes are the same, but the portion amounts are also different.

I can tell you what I have had today so far...

Breakfast:
1 egg (1/2 protien)
1 diet bun (1 starch on maintenance)
1/2 oz reduced-fat cheddar cheese (1/2 diary)

Snack:
2 tbsp Raisins (Fruit)

Lunch:
8 oz Chicken Breast (protien)
1/3 cup rice (starch)
1/2 cup cooked green peppers (veggie)
1/2 cup cooked mushrooms (veggie)
1 oz reduced-fat cheese (dairy)

I will have 1/2 oz (about 10) peanuts for snack.

I'm not sure about dinner yet...

Do you want a laugh?

My horror story for the day....

I take EFAs everyday. I take one in the morning and two at night, right...

Well this morning when I was going to take my EFA, I squeezed it a little because its ya'know squishy kinda; and it sprung a leak and flew all over my shirt. I went and changed my shirt and went to work.

I've smelt fishy all day. So when I went to lunch with DFI, I asked him if I smelled bad. He sniffed around my hair, clothes, etc. then said you smell like raw fish.....

UGH!

shennie_97
12-02-2005, 03:11 PM
 Karen, but that is hilarious.

On maintenance we have to have larger proteins...I can't get in the ones I have know most of the time, but I will face that mountain when I come to it.

My center has a sale on lites @ 8.50 a box, I said i wasn't goign to get anymore since I have enough to get me through 1/2 of maintenance, but I might just get a few tommorrow. Especially since a double box actually last 2 weeks on maintenance.

That is a good deal for the bars. I am getting sick of eating them though. They hurt my teeth. I have been heating them up though and that seems to help. So everyone thanks for that tip.

I kno what you mean about going into the center and being frustrated at not losing but also at the center only being like Sorry. that is when i finally went in there and said listen, you need to do something.

that is when they switched me to purple.

i can not wait for tomorrow.

i know that my friend is coming cause i am craving starches. that is my new thing now that i started this plan, not so much craving sweets but starches now. Great.

the snow just keeps falling here. i hope the roads are plowed tonight on the way home but i am thinking that is not going to happen since they were not plowed at lunch time.

On pete, did you guys think he lose 20 years in age once he lost all that weight? I thought he was in his 50s before, but when he slimmed down I thought he coudln't be past his 30s. If I were going to marry someone from BL, it would have to be Dr. Jeff because he is just too kind and such a good father. I think the wrester is the cutest (I like the scar) but his crying would annoy me. Seth is cute but I don't care for his personality that much.

Not larger protien portion sizes. Some larger starch portion sizes.

If you get 2 protiens now, you would get 2 1/2 protiens then. You get more starches, dairy, veggies, and fruit. I don't have the information in front of me; but I think they add 2 veggies, 1 or 2 fruits, and a starch.

I didn't mean to confuse you.

Karen, do they change the carb cravers at all? I would love to make a pan of lasagne sometime in my future. . .

Katie - you're on purple, no lites? with exercise? at 188 (or there abouts)? I was on purple WITH lites until 189 - I was stalled there, and suggested the move to gold (again with lites).

We had the special on bars today too - I stil have so many boxes left, since I used Luna's pretty heavily the earlier part of the year.

Funny, the last two times, they've looked in my folder for my before picture - it is kind of amazing that I've lost almost FIFTY pounds, and sometimes I can't see it. (Although, I'm not sure how much I looked at myself when I started)

My favorite was Pete (Did I mention how HOT he is?). Then it would be Dr. Jeff (Teddy Bear). Suzy was my chick favorite but a bit of a crybaby. At the end I would of loved for her to win out of the three, she is beautiful. Matt really wore his feelings on his sleeve. I was glad he double used the ranch, for weight loss and drinking. He ended up to be pretty good looking. Heck they all did, with the exception of Kathryn.
I told DH after the show I wish we could go to the ranch. He gave me a strange look and said "Okay, but first we need to gain about 200 pounds each"
Karen - So was the raw fish smell a turnon to DFI?? lol

Shennie- OMG Im afraid of you, girl!!! Do you all think a big cheat is the key? Its a theory I am afraid to test but am so ridiculously tempted!!! After TO this week, I am only down a little over a pound this week. I guess Im looking for the magic pill to make 7lbs disappear:)

Sigh...waiting on the green light to go home early. Tick tock...

Okay - has anyone ever felt full and bloated after doing TO? I started having my normal food again today and strangely I am doubting that I will be able to get it all in? This has NEVER happened before.

Shennie - For the catfish, I just sprinkled Mrs. Dash and some pepper and fresh lemon juice on the fish and baked it at 325 for about 30 mins (had to make sure it was done - don't like it squishy). It came out pretty good. Now that I get my starches back, I am thinking of coating it w/melba toast tonight.

Karen - My DH bought me Heavenly from Victoria Secret last weekend. So I wore it to work this week, when I came home he tried to smell it and he said I smell like a mix of Heavenly and Machine oil.......(I work in a mold injection machine shop).....men are so great....lol Since I have no sense of smell, I'm thinking "geez I hope that smells okay":D

I just called my COD:devil: , talked to my fav counselor. She didn't know I had surgery. Anyhow they extended my time for two months, due to my tests/surgery, etc. That puts me at April 16th, 2006. I also bought more bars and Take Off juice or whatever it's called these days......I'm getting downright geeked about starting back.. I think at first my menu will be very basic and ofcourse POP (yes, that's right I'm turning a new leaf  more  ) I am gonna go back to  status, dang I'm gonna have to really hunt for that halo....

Julie- No, I am on Red w/ no lites. My little sister is on purple with no lites, and she is 30 lbs heavier than me. I want to go down a plan, but my center won't let me.

On Matt, he was great, and the sober part was too. Did you guys see him at the bar with his friends while he was drinking water, and they were downing Techilla (sp?) shots? They were not very nice or supportive. I think that he will have to find some new friends, cause those guys did not seem to care whether or not he stayed thin or sober.

On Suzy, if you were her friend or family member, and you were going out to dinner with her, wouldn't you try really hard to make sure that the restaurant that you chose actually served food that she could eat. Hello, I would have wanted her to win! I went to a cafe for lunch with my grandma a few weeks ago. The menu was very limited, and very little of it was op. I had a very nasty lunch, since I was trying not to cheat, including red wine vinegar on my salad because all they had were mayo based dressings. She was furious that they did not have more healthy food on the menu, and told them so, too. Gooooo Grandma!

Deets- Sometimes after being really good on plan for a while, a cheat will give me a loss. I think that the key is not doing it very often, like every few weeks or so.

Mary- I loved Dr. Jeff, too. I cried my face off when he got voted off.

Made an OP version of Outbacks Alice Springs Chicken for lunch with onions and mushrooms sauteed in butter spray served over a grilled chiken breast with one ounce of LF cheese melted over it. I ate with honey mustard just like they serve it. Soooo good!

Julie~ I know it wouldn’t be the same, but you can have stuffed shells as a carb craver and I asked about adding mushrooms to mine and was told that was fine. So it is close.

Carmen~ I will try that for dinner tomorrow, thanks

I would like to send BIG {{{{UGS}}}} and squeezes for all of the job info you chickies offered. I am signed up with two temp agencies who call at least once a day. My best jobs with large corporations have been starting as a temp. Alot of stuff I have to refuse because it's too much/too far to drive. More than twenty miles on the freeway from home is enough for me these days. Especially this time of the year. You can leave work at 3p.m. and get home at 8p.m. I'm tired of that. Used to work for VA Hospital, so have to send off to St. Louis for personnel form to attach everytime I apply for job with the government. I'm working it though.

Wrigley I will look into Ever Staff

Carmen glad to hear that Heinen's has the Knudsen's juice. That is about the only place that I didn't check. Marshall's Healthfood on Warrensville is ordering it for me. It should be in next week.

Oh, I'm down 2 lbs. from yesterday's WI/home scale. I will sign off now and go do TurboJam.

Have a good night

Oh, oh let's find a fat farm. See how much it cost and go. I would like to see what I could accomplish at one. Probably can't afford one at this time but am interested. Gonna do a search tonight. Will let you know what I find.

I'm cheating...first time ever since August...real cheating. Consider it an experiment, LOL! 2 Mallowmars, some Teddy Grahams ,pizza (a slice) and that Starbucks Ive been eyeing...

Ive got two other days this weekend to be POP (WHICH I WILL) before next WI...its now or never. Here's the question...when you guys cheat, do you write it in your book? Before I started, I had 2F, 2V, 1P and 1S left for the day, so they wont be written in...what should I write?

Deets~ you are so cute, but if you want to see some bonifide all out cheating you should come to my house when I get on one of my binges. did you forget I ate 6 180 calories cookies on Monday

But see what this will do for you. Truthfully when I have a fatty cheat I have my best movements afterwards.

I write most of my cheats in, but when the cheat seemed to "help" or I have no proof of any harm, I have left it off sometimes just because i don't want to get hollered at for somethign that didn't hurt me

Good evening ladies. I'm a little disappointed. There is a little town where one of my DSs live and they were having a Christmas Walk tonight. It's a cool thing to do this time of year, then watch the tree lighting at the church in the center of town. We have having lake effect snow, and the bands are hovering around that area - so my other DS that I was going to ride with backed out at the last minute. I totally understand, but that means that I have to wait an entire year for the next one. Now, I'm so bored because the weather isn't bad where I live (yet). I'm sure it would be a white knuckle drive home - just was well.

Didn't make it to the COD, but have been pretty much POP all week. If I'm down, I will be down at WI on Monday. Lots seem to be doing so great. I'm going to have to check out the journal thread so I can see what you all are doing that are continuing to lose weight.

Just wanted to say hi. Having DNs spend the night tomorrow so have some cleaning to do. I have to find the top of that bed in the spare bedroom.

Hugs, Sy

;) Hello All!!!

I went to COD today and was the same, but I was wearing jeans and a sweater. I am going to go in tomorrow with the clothes that I usually wear and I hope I am down. I just feel like I am at a standstill on this. I did get measured and I am down 10 inches. YEAH!!!! I like that a lot :carrot: .

Deets- I usually don't write down my cheats, but I do usually confess them on my next visit. I have noticed that after my cheats I seem to lose faster. Maybe that will get you to your goal. I think that you are doing great!!!! Don't let that last couple of pounds get to you, you have worked so hard!!

The weather is sunny here today. I just got back from going boots shopping with my daughter and grandma. I need to get dinner started, but I am thinking that I am done for the day. I am kinda' feeling like no matter how hard I try, when my family gets home they just trash the place. I have been thinking of going on strike, but that just means a bigger mess for me to clean up later. I found a web site with good ideas on how to deal with this, but I just don't seem to have the energy to do that. Thanks for the venting session!!!!

OH-MY-GOSH...here I sit, the binge, over. The calm after the storm. B-A-D....I havent had a "no holds barred, eat your cravings foods and be done with it" eating spree in about 8 months. I am OP to a fault, ridiculously so...remember I am the one who took the food scale to Thanksgiving, LOL!

Anyway, with SO many people advising a cheat (friends, other clients at my center, people here on the board indirectly), I decided to stop wishing for certain things and get it all out of my system.

I havent felt this way (the aftermath) in SO long, I forgot what its like to feel SO full (Im usually starving to death at this time of night) and UNCOMFORTABLE, LOL!!! With LAWL, by pants are never tight.

I took the 3 kids to the mall to see Santa...DH was working late for about the 9th day in a row and so I like to treat them extra special when hes not coming home. They were so excited (heck, being out at night with the holiday lights was enough to get them all jazzed up!) and had a great time!

I ate SO much, we're talking a cookie chiller drink at the mall (after I threw out a starbucks frap light, it ended up being GROSS), 1/3 of a small Mc D's fries, a McD's little cheeseburger, a half a Lindt truffle, a slice of pizza, some Mallowmars, some teddy grahams and an extra Carmel Lite to top it off- OINK!!! My kids were a little confused seeing me stop at so many places to grab something to eat, they are used to me being very disciplined.

I usually WI at home every morning, I guess I should tomorrow anyway- right? I was also thinking to leave out my starches tomorrow (specially cos my binges were major sugar/carb items)- would that be silly or should I just be on my regular program? Im going to write in my book "life happened"...I like that one, LOL!!!

Deets- Your post made me laugh so hard. When you cheat girl, you don't hold anything back!! Hope it helps. You know what, though, I would not cheat yourself tomorrow. I think that you will be defeating the purpose if you do.

Big NSV for me tonight. I went to the DI, a thrift store, and bought a nearly new pair of Soda brand platform Mary Janes for $4.00. The platform is 4" at the heel. I have been wanting these shoes forever, but never can bring myself to spend the $. When I saw them I checked the size, 7 1/2, and thought, oh well, too small. I'm an 8 1/2. Then I started thinking about how back when I was thinner, I was a 7 or 7 1/2. On a whim I tried them and guess what, they fit great. Sooo cute! And they make me so tall. Now I can put my platform flip flops away. LOL

Now on to a sensitive subject. Sorry if this gets too graphic for anyone....but to all of you short girls out there (I am 5'1) I have found something that helps me with constipation. Since I am so short, my feet don't sit firmly on the floor when I am on the, uh, throne. I got a little step stool for my feet, and viola!! Things are, well, more of a "smooth move" in there now. Just so you little chickies know.

Have a great night all!! Katie

Katie - what a terrific NSV - I find that my hands, feet and face seem to lose weight the fastest too -- also heels give me a whole new outlook - (so THAT's what it looks like from up here;) )

Beanie - WOOHOO:carrot: :carrot: :carrot: Just keep on, and you'll be as skinny as the carrot! Is that FORTY POUNDS????

Deets - and all you cheaters - you've got me thinking of cake and ice cream - stop it! stop it! Hmm, maybe in a controlled situation?? Like Baskins and Robins??? Did you WI at home today? Think it's a good idea just to see what all that sugar does to you. I'm not sure about cutting out your starches today - honestly, I think the best thing is to be completely POP - but who knows - try it? It's all a balancing act.

TeaElleBee - good luck on your exam! what are you studying? I'm also having problems with regular eating. .Yesterday the counselor noticed that I wasn't eating all my portions -

Sy - sorry about the snow spoiling your lights - maybe they postponed them until today?

Cnt - down 10 inches - that's terrific! Are you shopping in your closet for smaller stuff?

Hope you all have a great day!

Repo - that works for tall girls too. I'm 5'7-1/2" and I find that helps me also. Think about it, the natural way to 'go' is how the cavemen/women and indians did it. A squat. They had babies that way and some natualist are going back to the squat for having baby. Less stress on the mommy and baby. Just wanted to say congratulations to all the losers! I haven't been here in a while. I've been mad at myself, and feeling like I'm failing lawl. Af is here right now so I'm hoping that's the reason for me being to 178-179 right now. My home scale says 182, but it's always 2 lbs heavier than lawl's scale. I didn't even gain over the holidays so I'm hoping and praying it's because of af. Im going to do the take off starting tomorrow or Monday. I am going by my home scale, because I wanted out of the 180's for good, and I had got my scale to say 178.8,179.4, so that's what I'm going to get back down past. Send some of your losing vibes this way. I haven't been eating bad at all, really I haven't. They think, and I KNOW red plan #1 is too much food for me. My baby isn't nursing regularly, and I've missed working out a lot.(they said I didn't have to with this plan). So, on the red plan I HAVE to workout for a hr each day in order to lose with it. I'm putting myself back on the blue plan, the one I knew and felt in my heart would work! I hear a lot of people talking about this smooth move tea, I'm going to have to get me some. I'm going back to my lunas this week too. I lost 5lbs on my own in one week with the lunas and the blue plan. Well gotta run ladies, the inlaws are still here but leaving tonight I guess. Maybe I can definitely get back on track. It's been real hard having on plan foods, then having the Il's eat them up. I do not have money like that to replace what they ATE! Talk to you all soon!

One time a while back they had 2 racks of brand new mens suits for $30.00. I have to do an interview at ISU next week for graduation, and I know that none of my dresses fit anymore. I went into DI and bought a really classy dress (size L!!) for $6.00. It looks brand new. Good luck with your goal!!

Okay, Idaho chicks, more translation time- what does DI stand for?

Cnt - I'm with you - I'm at 178 (woohoo) at home, but I really, really want to see it at the center before I claim it. . not sure I totally trust my home scale, ya know? And I have finally recognized that some of the clothes that I was wearing at 228 are really too big. Really and truly they are.

Hey Kisha - good to see you again! Not sure, are you doing lites or not? If so, and you're not exercising 5 hours a week, you're probably right - red may be a bit too much food for you.

Katie - what kind of interview?? can you wear your new heels with it?

Deets - is the scale more friendly today?

Hugs to all,

Hey Julie, DI is Deseret Industries. It is a work training center for handicapped people that is owned by the LDS Church (Mormans). They are big thrift stores full of everything you can think of. All of their merchandise begins as a donation. My interview is a practice interview to defend my portfolio that I have written on child development and care. The read interview is with a state board in Feb. I graduate the program (Child Development Associate) in two weeks, but do not have the certification interview for a couple of months. My new shoes don't go wth my dress at all. I am going to have to go back to DI!!

Katie - thanks for the translation - when I was in SLC, I stopped in a Deseret bookstore, too.

Deets - can't tell you whether or not to go to WI tomorrow - but I really think you'll be okay. When you were doing WW, did you check into the Wendie plan at all? it's a way of cycling your points so the body doesn't get used to a standard calorie intake. . I think they DON'T suggest a WI after the high day - because of just what you're going thru.

About the clothes - I really must find a consignment store. . .It's hard to find the stuff that fitting better (life should be so tough).

Cathy, relax and don't be so hard on yourself. You did not eat an extra 3500 calories that day, so there is no scientific way you gained a pound. Be vigilant with the water and don't let yourself start feeling guilt...that always makes me wanna eat more, anyway.

Katie, way to go with the DI. Whenever I find a good deal at a thrift store, I view it as a little treat from God (maybe you got an early treat for all the drama with the hay guy).

Ok, my husband says I am looking skinnier now even though my weight is the same as 3 weeks ago. He says he thinks my body is catching up to my weight. I know you guys have said you lose inches first. Anyway, I have been wearing a pair of size 19 pants (they were really cheap and even though juniors are the exact opposite of what a hippy/thigh girl with a small waist needs, I have been wearing them). The size 19 pants actually fell off of me while I was walking up our stairs a couple of days ago (great show for the hubby, huh). I was just wearing them with gigantic shirts when I wore them to try to cover up the fact that the waistband was riding on top of my thighs. I have a pair of size 16 levis, but they are getting too big now. Could I finally be in the 14s for real? If so,it might be motivation to get on track.

My new avatar...nothing as cute as what Regina does, but it came free from yahoo so I thought I'd build one. I enlisted hubby's help. He picked the goofy face. He said it was the closest because my eyes turn down at the corners slightly. Geez. Ya can't win for losing.

Man, ya'll have been busy!!

Unfortunately, so have I and I have noticed a trend - I tend to fall off the LAWL wagon when my life gets busy. I do better when I plan. For some reason, this program (for me) doesn't lend itself well to "fly by the seat of your pants" living. I need to have a plan for those starches!:D

However, I have begun the Christmas shopping and feel a little bit of relief over that. Usually I wait until the last minute. While I have no doubt that I will still retain that habit, it does feel good to get things started. Of course, youngest DD doesn't really help - her Christmas list changes almost daily!

We have choir practice for 2 hours this afternoon - so that'll keep me out of the kitchen! :)

Have a great Sunday!

SO.... a quick sunday night post before tomorrow to share the BIG news. I FINALLY HIT THE 20lb mark. I lost3 lbs when i went in on sat. i could not believe it. i talked to them about the whole TO thing how she made me do it and the girl i talked with who is a med tech told me that i should not have had all the oranges that it was either cant. or oranges, not both, i tell you i was still a little queasy yesterday but stayed on plan. they think that i can lose 9 lbs by next sat when we leave for our cruise, but who knows.

hope everyone had a great weekend and that everyone's monday starts out great. talk to you all tomorrow.

yeah, it's either 4 oranges a day (I think) or 1/2 of a whole cantaloupe per day (which I know for sure). My sister also did 2 cups of watermelon per day one time and lost 3 lbs during that to. I think the main point is to eat a diuretic fruit if you don't eat a juice.

I just bought the Knudsen's Juice today and plan on doing the take off tomorrow and the day after. I know that I have read how to dilute it on this site and am unable to find where I read it. Can anyone help me on how to mix the juice and how to do the take off? Do you drink it all throughout the day? Thanks in advance for any info.

And, does anyone know if you can do the fast track version (unlimited protein, no bars) even if it was just done last week? I really want to ERASE my bad Friday, LOL!!! Maybe if I can be a grown up and go in tomorrow and fess up, Ill ask....I just dont even want to see the "real" scale and go nuts in my mind over what I did. I liked the fast forward this past time, I found it very easy and satisfying...I starve on 6oz protein in a day, its torture!

hey chicks - gotta run sooner than I thought. .

Star, glad to see you back, Ready to Restart - love the wonder woman- no matter what her age, she's still Wonder Woman!

Nana2 - I've always diluted it 4oz of juice, but I think Katie figured that it should be closer to 6 oz - by comparing calorie counts.

Deets -- the rules used to be every two weeks, or 15 days --

Wrigley - did I read that right - 9 POUNDS??

Catch you all later!

Julie - Thanks for the welcome back. For some reason it's so much better to post when we are POP. Okay now for a really dumb question, I'm doing TO tomorrow and Wed - what are the two different options:?: Oh and I actually bought the real stuff form LAWL..... Geez I feel really dumb, it's not like I haven't done TO 100 times before.....:dizzy:

Nana2Girls - That's what gbaby Dave and Jenna:bb: :bb: call me 'NanaTrina"
the other two aren't talking yet, and the two on the way - who knows? That will make SIX by next Spring. GBDave stayed all night with us Saturday, he will be two on the 11th and is quite the joy. He looks so much like his dad, it's like taking me back 35 years....

Mary - I like your new avatar too...very cute....I think it's fun to change them up. About your NAV with DH saying you look skinny - well who better to know, right:?:

Sy - So sorry about your plans for the Christmas walk. I love to do Christmassy stuff ! I know how dissapointing it can be to look forward to something and then have it fall through last minute. Good Luck at weigh in today!

Cnt- Congrats on being down 10 inches!! Woohoo! and being in the smaller size.

Repo - Congrats on the BIG NSV! I too love to check out the DI! Those shoes sound fun!! Good luck with your interview this week! Hope that all goes well. Glad that no one was hurt with your incident. Does seem like sometimes thing happen that really make you ask Why? But I agree with everyone else's comments on the situation.

Kisha - Keep working on tweaking the plan and make the center make it work for you. Again my favorite saying but have them do a special consult with the nutritionist about your case! You have the right!

Thanks mom of 3! How are you doing?

Marbear- Its nice to have the hubby comment! And congrats on being in the 14s! Woohoo!

Hey Andi - Hang in there the Holidays will be over before you know it!

Shennie - Woohoo on the Medium shirt!!!!

Wrigley - Congrats on loosing 20 lbs! Yeah its only one fruit 4 times daily (orange or cantaloupe!) Nine pds in one week sounds a little too much to me!?

Nana - Good luck on the TO!

Star - good luck at weigh in today! Welcome back on plan! The two different options for take off? You can do the one in your book with 6oz protien and 2 servings veggies, 2 lites (bars), and the juice 4 times a day. Chkitlit and I did this but did unlimited green fresh veggies! Or the Fast Start one which was unlimited protien, unlimited green veggies, juice, light condiments, 2 eggs, and salt.

Deets - my center too said T0 every 14 days

Textjewel congrats on your NSV and yes its 39.2 pds!

Good luck to everyone at weigh in today! Hope that you see the numbers you are looking for.

Yeah I tried the unlimited protien one the first time I did take off and it didn't make me lose at all, so I think we tend to go overboard on the protien. This last time with the powerbars and 6oz protien with unlimted fresh greens was a lot better! Good Luck! Of course, I really think having a take off buddy helps!! (thanks again chklit!!)

 Hi Everyone.

It took me about a half hour to read up on all the posts! Gee whiz you all have been busy! My weekend was so - so. This morning my home scale said I am up 2 lbs, but I haven't been off plan since TO, so I'm hoping its a fluke and that maybe its because I missed my diuretic yesterday.

I was in bed all day yesterday- not feeling well. I did manage to get in all of my water and all of my servings so, it wasn't a total bust. Today I am feeling more like myself thanks to the cold medicine and sugar free Halls (not half bad). Plus DH grilled (yes in the snow and cold, he does it a lot), and made me a nice steak so hopefully I am retaining a gang of water, and this weight will be back off soon.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO Beanie! Congrats on the huge loss! I'd say TO was well worth the effort, no? I don't think I've ever heard of anyone losing that much from TO. :cb: Sorry - don't know about the clementine.

Star - Congratulations on being back OP. I know how much you've been looking forward to today. Let me know what you think of the new lites. I'm torn between whether I like the Chocolate Fudge Brownie as much as the DC. To me the CFB is just a little salty? My new favorite though is the Coconut Almond. I love those...

Kisha - Good to see you back. Was wondering about you!

SY - Bummer about the Christmas lights. I know just how you feel. Knowing things probably have worked out for the best doesn't really help when you're disappointed. Hard to explain... Good luck at WI.

Dawn - Woo Hoo to you on your huge TO loss as well, and CONGRATS on your new decade. Work it mama!!!

Deets - I am with the others. I think you should follow your instincts about the COD today, but man I can't wait until that cheat goes to work for you. The only thing about the cheats is that I in my infinite pretzel logic wisdom was figuring that since they helped so much, I ought to just keep on doing it. It was very hard for me to get back OP once I had strayed, but you are losing so well I doubt that would ever be a problem for you. Hang in there and keep us posted!

Julie - That's WONderful about the too big clothes. I've only lost 30 so I have yet to see a different clothing size. I'm not even pantsing yet but I know eventually that will all change. Don't things like that make you feel so great?

To all the other chickies - Heyyy Yaaaaaa and let's have ourselves one heck of a POP  Monday party! :cb: :gift: :flow2: :dancer: :woo: :queen:  :bubbles: :gossip: :goodscale :carrot: :dizzy:  :spin: :cp: :hat:- (my fave) :flow1: :tantrum: :hyper: :twirly: :wizard:  :balloons:

Hey guys-

Haven't posted in awhile-I didn't go into the COD 2 weeks in a row-1 because of TOM (just isn't worth the frustration) and the 2nd week because of Thanksgiving. I was a little worried, but I was down 3.5 lbs!

I was hoping to get the the 50lb mark by this Friday-my birthday. I thought that this Friday was my goal date (well, first goal date-I only got enought weight loss weeks for 50lbs in case it didn't work for me). However, they're telling me my goal date is the 16th. Whatever-I still want that 50lb weight loss for my birthday. 4.5lbs this week-maybe doing takeoff on Wed and Thurs I'll be able to pull it off. Wish me luck!

Julie,
I think that when you start LAWL, they don't count the first week for some reason...at least that is what they did for me. So maybe that is why you are figuring you goal date differently. But congrats on the 3.5 loss. You're sooooo close to your first goal...keep up the great work!

Good Morning, or should I say afternoon. I have been having trouble logging in all morning, it kept kicking me out of the site. Finally I am on.

So yesterday was a great day feeling great about finally hitting the 20lb mark and all. Yeah you read that right, they think I can lose 9lbs by Saturday, and I mean this Saturday. I was thinking sure that might happen, but I just got back from WI and I can tell you that is not going to happen. I was up 1.8 lbs today when I WI, I know that I have not had a BM since yesterday and I know that causes you to be up especially when you have to go, but what a bummer. When I was at the center today I was with the girl who told me to eat all that fruit and I told her what happened and she was like really? Acting like it was not a big deal and I told her that I did not think you were suppose to have that much and she did not have too much to say about that, she appears to be one of those who really doesn’t know what she is talking about.

I am not sure about the counting the first week or not. I know that when I started the program, they were watching like a hawk since I was juicing and then I lost about 3 lbs and then gained it right back. That is sort of how I feel now, I lost the 3 lbs but gained it back again.

I worked out M-TH last week and then again yesterday and plan to do it the rest of the week but I don’t feel like that is helping.

I told the girl today again that I am not going to buy Xcell anymore since I don’t see anything happening with it. she is like you don’t feel like you are losing weight and have more energy, and I was like no not at all and I don’t know why. She did not seem too happy.

The other problem, and stop me if I have brought this up before is the new manager seems like she only wants to help the new people and the people who want to spend money. I have not sat down with her in weeks. Is that normal? I wonder who I should talk to about that. The other reason I don’t want to say anything is it feels as though nothing is confidential there. that if you expressed a concern then everyone is going to know that you said something. I wonder if I should try to go to another center. HMMMMM

Well, today is a lazy day at work, trying to find things to keep me busy.

Have a great day.

Hi All!
Sounds like we have a lot of losers around here this morning. I was down yesterday, back up today. There was a standoff with a dude with a gun on the highway right next to my house last night. We could hear him screaming at the cops for 2 hours last night, threatening to turn the gun on himself or shoot an officer. I called dispatch and asked if we were in danger. She said that she could not really say one way or the other. Anyway, finally about 10:00 they talked him out of his gun and arrested him. The sad part? The whole thing started when this kid held someone up for $20.00. So desperate and sad. Anyway, such a drama filled weekend for me. I used to think that this was a quiet town. I actually even locked my car last night. Started TO this morning. I think that I need a clean slate.

BTW- Since I used the Smooth Move tea a couple of times, my colon has been working almost too well. I am, of course, not complaining!

Shennie-WTG on the medium!!

Andi- Seems like you are sailing through the holidays.

Wrigley- Way to go on the 20. That has to feel so good!

Wrigley-

In my experience, the manager often meets with the new people to get them started (for the first couple of weeks maybe) and then you start meeting with the other counselors. It did seem weird to me at first too-like I was abandoned, but you get over it. The manager doesn't usually meet with folks coming in to weigh in unless it's really busy or if you make an appointment. The only advice I have is to go on the same days at the same times and find one or two counselors you like and then request them when you go in. Seeing a different counselor every time drives me nuts. I hate repeating myself, you know?

good luck and hang in there!

"L.A. Weight Loss Centers"
Information and Reviews

Balanced Review: L.A. Weight Loss Centers is a diet and weight loss program based on reduced caloric intake along with nutrition bars and supplements, behavior modification, and personal counseling. They focus aggressively on selling their nutrition bars called LA Lites, in addition to their supplements. By all accounts the bars and supplements are very expensive and are basically required purchases if guarantees of success are to take effect. Discounts are taken on the bars if long-term supplies are purchased, but that amounts to significant upfront costs as much as $1000+.

Most personal counselors are not independently trained social workers, but former clients of LA and are paid commissions on the LA Weight Loss products they sell, which presents a highly questionable conflict of interests. Based on received reviews for LA Weight Loss, there are considerable differences between individual centers and counselors. Some have adequately trained counselors and lower pressure sales environments, while others are the opposite. One thing is clear though from pro and con reviews: the program is expensive compared to its competition and often hard to know. They have settled out of court on a case alleging they falsely advertised the cost of their program.

The cost of LA Weight Loss seems totally unreasonable compared to alternatives. Most pro reviews elude to the cost as something that keeps them motivated, but there are better ways of maintaining your motivation without draining your wallet. We prefer more sensible, inexpensive programs such as eDiets that are conveniently on-line and accessible from your computer at home or office. If you sense you're being taken advantage of in the diet business, you probably are.

Wrigley: Congrats on the 20 pounds lost!

Deets~ glad to see it wasn’t that bad.

Carmen~ great job with the OP weekend! I had the catfish on Saturday night and it was delish. It was still kind of flimsy though so I put some Pam in a pan and browned it some. My DS was begging for more and at first he was saying “yuck, more diet food” :)

Julie, Emmy~ my weeks didn’t start until after my success visit.

Katie~ wow! What a night for you. Does the tea, taste like “normal” tea.

Ok, I am usually pretty good on remembering that Tom is coming and preparing for cravings (plus with BC, it’s a lot easier to remember) But it slipped my mind this time and on Saturday I was up a little and thought I hadn’t done TO in a while, I would do it to try to shake stuff up again on Sunday. I was so busy on Sunday with church and tree trimming it was no problem to do TO, but then last night I was have the biggest sugar cravings and since I have no sweets in the house. I pigged out on Lites. (how pathetic can you be to use lites as cheats) I had 1 ½ extra ones before i knew it. Then when TOM arrived this morning I realized what had happened and also realize where the gain came from…duh. So I wasn’t up today, still maintaining about .4 higher than Friday and hopefully I will be back down come Thursday.

Shennie -- Lites were one of my favorite cheats, too. In fact, now that I'm on maintenance, I use them (or luna bars) as cheats MORE often, because I'm only supposed to eat one a day, but I've gotten so used to having 2 a day that I often do anyway.

Well my first trip back to COD:devil: wasn't that bad and I didn't hit the 170 mark on the scale so I was like:carrot: (Okay I was close but NOT there:D )

My fav counselor was in a meeting and only two new counselors were available. The one I had was okay, I didn't have to explain my medical history with her becuz I told her Camile has it all charted in my file. I just needed to be weighed, given my bars, TO and will come back Wed. (Hopefully Camile will be free)

Wrigley - I agree with Juliemarie, if you make a couple 'friend' counselors it makes the trip alot more enjoyable. Once you get to know them, they seem way more interested in your progress. The one I like the best is Camile becuz she's my age, she is still on plan, she still needs to lose 20 pounds, her DH has a Harley, she has 'life happens' events, so all that makes her more human to me. Now the other one I like is Grace, she's all business, by the book and that's that. The managers are really there to get the people to sign on the dotted line and for the problem clients or atleast that's what it seems like to me:?:

Okay so the little counselor told me that if I didn't care which TO I did that she thought since I've haven't been on plan for over a month that I should do the unlimited version. She said that people can lose up to 8 pounds on that one. Now there is no way on God's earth that will happen with me but at the same time I'll give it a try (since I'm trying to be an:angel: )

I did have a chocolate coconut almond bar on the way back to work and I must say - YUM. My other choice of bars was to get chocolate fudge brownie, BUT when I got back to work I noticed she gave me two boxes of the choc coconut almond :tantrum: Oh well, I just have to get the choc fudge when I go back on Wed..........(Not wanting to cause a stink becuz of  )

I have half my water down, all my fruit, 1 starch, 1 1/2 protein, two veggie and one fat...........

Katie - Smooth Move tea - is that a LAWL tea? Don't get me started on how wonderful it is to be regular......

Someone (forgive me, I forgot who!) mentioned in one of the other threads that there is an internet special for week price, just $3! Its good through the end of the year so if anyone needs to buy more weeks, you can print out the page and bring it to your COD...it doesnt mention anything about having to be a new client. Hope this helps! I dont think the 4 extra weeks I bought at $5/wk will be enough to get me to 130. I am still on "their time" until I drop to my original goal of 135...once I am there, my purchased weeks kick in.

Yikes that sounds good. My latest crave is a Cobb Salad. DH loves them too, and we have eaten them 3 times recently. I put grilled chicken, a boiled egg, chopped red pepper, chopped red onion, lettuce, of course, and a tiny bit of blue cheese on mine. DH also puts bacon on his. So good! By reading the label on the little block of blue cheese, I can have 1/4 brick for the same stats as a normal dairy, but more sodium. It is a real treat to me.

I wonder if I could add a couple of months at that price? I have only paid to get down to 135, and I think that I really might want to go lower.

Ok, just thought I'd post this to show I am going back on plan. An incident at the KFC was a little sign.

Hubby asks me to go to pick up fast food after I get finished holiday shopping. I get finished at 5:30 and drive across the parking lot to the KFC/Tacobell (it's a combo restaurant). I order hubby his chicken plate and I order a combo of coke, fries, and a sandwich to split with Eli (and give hubby the coke since i have diet dr.p. at home). Anyway, I order my food after waiting in line (the drivethrough was UNREAL it was so backed up). It seemed like forever just to place the order because some old man (and I'm talking over 70 here) kept calling his wife because he's "pretty sure she don't like crunchy chicken." How can you be that old and not know what your partner likes. Get the woman some original recipe and move it along, gramps. Anywho, when I finally get up to the counter, I noticed the sign says 2 different prices for what I want (and it is a huge variation of $1). This confused the new girl (who had actually been there 3 mos. she said but acted like it was her first night). She finally gets my order right and I go wait...and wait...and wait. I think a huge part of the problem was the "i'm too pretty to work here" girl who kept saying the order numbers that were up really low (like she wouldn't stoop to yelling). I finally get my order and they have left off my double crunch sandwich. After showing 3 people my receipt, this girl says "here is your double crunch." It was a taco. I told her I ordered chicken, so after 3 MORE people, this nice little girl gets a lady to make my frigging sandwich. I get back in the car FORTY FIVE MINUTES LATER. That is why they take your cash up front, people. I get home and the sandwich bun was so stale I thought it was toasted. Zang...just stale. How disgusting. Anyway, eat on plan and stay away from KFC and Taco Bell...which, by the way, seem to be the least plan friendly restaurants in the fast food arena.

Wrigley -
The gazelle is a way to start. How long have you been using it every night?
When I go on just the treadmill, I don't see much results. I think our bodies get use to the same movements fairly quickly. It is a great idea to mix it up abit. Be it with differnt forms of movement, walking, jogging, biking, skating or pick up afew great exercise videos.
I joined Jazzercise prior to my surgery and my DH noticed within two weeks that it seemed to be working better than my usual exercise routines.....

Deetsmom, What you say could very well be true. It's that old thing of muscle weighing more than fat. I truly believe that's why they don't really push exercise at LAWL. But us die hard exercise people just can't give it up.

Chklithunder
12-05-2005, 05:49 PM
Well, I could very well give it up. My exercising and my 3 month stall are going hand in hand. When I brought it up at the center they said to keep journaling and see if I notice any trends. I asked them if the 3 months I'd been exercising and not losing wasn't enough of a trend and they just smiled at me and fell silent. I am thinking that next week I may give working out a rest and see what happens... And to think I thought it was just me.

Ive been in training most of my adult life, obsessively so at some times and there is arguement about muscle/fat "weight", it has more to do with density..regardless, I am in very good shape, so for the rest of my loss-phase, Im as active as possible short of hitting the gym (ex: walking rather than stairs, being in motion as opposed to sitting on the couch all day, etc.)..with three kids, a home business, a family, etc, theres only so much time in a day- LOL!

Carmen,
No this has been going on forever. Sy and I battled this way back in the beginning. At COD they said we worked out too much, they could never get our plans to match our workout time. I think Sy and I both cut back our workouts but neither of us could really figure it out either.....
I think it boils down to either you want to be muscular or skinny. The other method is to lose the weight first and then workout later.
But when anyone figures it out please let me be the first to know.....
See you chicks tomorrow.....

I have been doing the gazelle almost since i started and I try for 3 times a week or at least 2, last week i did 4 days and so far 1 this week.

i want to join some place where i can swim. i am not sure what is around here and not familar with the area so that makes it harder. everyone is saying that the YMCA should have a special now that it is the start of the year.

i also got a 30 day free trial at Fit Works so i thought i might use that too. what the heck it is free why not try it.

everyone have a great night and talk to everyone tomorrow.

Hey chicks - you've all been chatty today!

We're having our first real snow storm of the season today -- and I had to get on the road early, and too early to WI - so maybe tomorrow. . if the roads cooperate??

Carmen - I knew there was a reason I put those frozen blueberries in my cart last week! I don't have any graham crackers (yet). ..sorry you don't feel well. Have they taken your measurements? Maybe you've lost inches?

Star, I am not a coconut fan, so I didn't like those AT ALL. But I do like the choc brownie ones. I am still hoping that they will put out more that are not chocolate. .

Katie - I think you should keep a video camera loaded and ready in your car (now that you're locking it) -- you obviously live in a very exciting part of the country.

JulieMarie - early happy birthday, and you are so close to that fifty pound marker - if it's not this week, then it'll be next week.

Wrigley - at this point, I'm just glad to go and WI, and pick up bars -- they know I don't use the supps, and have stopped asking me. They haven't even pushed TO at me lately. And my WL hasn't been at the 2 # a week range either. . Where are you going on your cruise again? Also, about the exercise, can you increase your time slightly, and/or increase the intensity?

Deets - I know, just KNOW, that you'll have a great week.

Mary - the topping on the cake would have been if they had double charged you.

Beanie - that fruit question always gets me. Since I'm not that much of a fruit eater - I always count my apple as 2. And then I have grapes, usually for my second one. . . But now, I have blueberries! And I did buy some tangerines -- they are all the same size, anyway, it seems to me?

What's happened to Bre today?

Julie

Just so that I can not have all of the trouble associated with exercise right now I don’t do much gym workout. However, I have a very active life naturally so it doesn’t bother me too much that I don’t work out. I never take the elevator at work. I only work on the second floor, but rather I am going up or down (about 30 round trips per day) I always walk. I also do that in the other buildings on campus (some of them are 4 stories). Plus I am always on the go with school, work, church, DS’s sports, youth group, etc.

But I do want to be toned and when I reach goal in late January. I plan to start adding in some toning for the 30-45 minutes I have planned to go to the center 3 times a week. This way I am just replacing a time frame that I have already carved out, plus working at the University I can use the facilities here.

One of the reasons I was going down to 140 was so that I can not worry about “gaining” when I workout and I will still be about 145ish when all is done.

You know, everytime I decide to start exercising, I stop losing too. I am really considering waiting to start exercising until I am a lot closer to goal. I don't know what to think on this one.

I have a trip planned this week. I'm flying to Reno where my mother is picking me up. I planned on spending time with her before going to the Sacramento Valley and visiting my daughter and brother, then flying home from Sacramento.

Well, we got a call Saturday and David's (hubby) sister from Stockton killed herself. Now we are all going to the west coast, but not for a pleasure visit, but rather to bury her and try to console the husband and sons.

I always thought Lavonda was such a beautiful woman, and had a gorgeous body. She had beautiful silver hair (from the age of 30) that always looked great, even when she just blew it dry. She had a husband who adored her and, with a successful printing company, gave her anything she wanted. When she turned 30 it was traumatic for her so he took her to Hawaii to take her mind off it. She had two wonderful sons who never gave her an ounce of trouble and 4 beautiful grandchildren.

She had a gambling addiction. It ruined her marriage and eventually took her desire to live.

All this to say that it isn't what we see on the outside that is who the person is. She had been unhappy for a long time. She had attempted suicide twice before.

Those of you who are praying people, please keep us all in your prayers. I have volunteered to clear out the house where she lived. I don't want strangers in there, handling her stuff. I am a strong person and feel I can handle this. It will be hard, I'm sure, but I'll make it through this.

Thanks!

Well first day of TO - I know this is early, but so far so good. The juice actually tastes really good to me.

About diet, exercise and weight loss, I never met to say that anyone was out of shape or not toned. Being young mothers certainly keeps you moving and may be plenty enuf exercise for you at this time in your life. However, as we get older all that changes and you actually have to physically move more and eat less just to maintain. Yes, getting old does suck....:tape:

Shennie - Sounds like you have a great plan and have really given it alot of thought.......that's what success is all about.:carrot:

One thing I have noticed is that people that have never exercised and then start, seem to see better results than say someone who has worked out forever......

Julie - How could you want more 'not' chocolate:?: Did something bad happen to you when you were little;)

I weighed myself on my home scale and it wasn't a pretty sight! It's amazing how hard I work to get it off and a few indescretions here and there run it right back on!!:( Oh well...back to the POP life!;)

Today's goal is just to get the Christmas decorations up! Our tree was put up and decorated Friday - we all have so much fun doing that. However, the kids lose interest when it's time to decorate the whole house. I guess that feels to much like housework! Anyway, DH will put the lights on the house tonight and we'll be done.

I've already exercised - Firm Fat Blasting Cardio. You know, I read somewhere that vigorous exercise did not help a person lose weight. However, walking did - not brisk-out-of-breath walking, but purposeful-more-than-a-stroll walking. If a person walked 45 minutes per day, that wouldn't stimulate appetite and would burn off excess fat weight. Vigorous exercise (the kind I currently do:shrug: ) doesn't. I don't know if that's true, but it makes you wonder.

Katie - your Cobb salad sounds divine! I'm going to make one for lunch tomorrow!

Juliemarie - I don't know if our center even has a manager! We're still working off of gals coming in from out-of-town. I sure would love to talk with one!

Deetsmom - proud of you for going in! I'm going to have to muster up that kind of courage this week! And, it makes me so mad at myself because I was down! Why do I do this to myself???

Dawn - you are not the "pain" client! I am! You know, I had such huge buyer's remorse the week after I signed up for this program. Even now, DH drives by LAWL and picks at me by saying "I see a couch for the living room sitting right there." Yes, I spent my decorating money on this program (I bought it for me and my DD).

Shennie - you are losing so well! You're an inspiration!

Star - I admire anyone who willingly does Take Off! Ugh!

Julie -snow!! I'm so jealous! It has been super cold in West Texas and they are teasing us with the possibility of snow on Thursday. We are keeping our fingers crossed!

Regina - that is heartbreaking news! I'm so sorry for you and your DH! Her children are grown??

Time to get a shower and get this house clean! Hope everyone has a great day!

 Hi Everyone.

OMG Regina. Let me just say how sorry I am for your DH, DBIL, nephews, and your entire family. News like that is enough to knock the wind right out of you. God Bless you all. I will pray for you all. I admire the strength you must have in order to take on the task of clearing out her things. I know the family appreciates it.

Wow. Y'know, in the wake of news like that, I am just fine. I am struggling with the residuals of a cold: crusty nose, lingering dry cough etc., but I feel pretty good. One thing I can say about LAWL is that this is the first "cold" I've had since being on it, and it was very mild by comparison to when I used to get sick. Guess all the antioxidants really do help hunh?

I went to the COD last night, was down 2 lbs from my last WI at the center, which was the morning after Thanksgiving. There is a new counselor there, and she looks familiar to me, but I don't know where I know her from. I also ran into a lady that I used to work with when I used to manage a record store. It was really nice to see her. We promised to keep in touch. I wonder if we actually will. We shall see...

Julie - I feel ya on the snow. But I think if you venture on out you'll feel better for having gone to the COD. GL if you decide to go. I've had both the lemon Lites and Lunas, and the flavor is similar between the two bars, but the LA bar has the consistency of the other LA bars with white icing. They are not bad.

Star - the verdict is still out on what I will do re: exercising. I don't like it and I do have a hard time losing when I do it, BUT I feel so much better when I do it. Maybe I will cut down on the cardio just a tad (maybe I was overdoing it?) and add some weights in everyday for about 10 minutes. Idunno. I kinda like it over in The Yard...

Bre - Yoga really IS fun. Its fun to challenge your body in the different poses etc...

Here's another thought for the blueberries - the counselor suggested the vanilla shake lites to blend with them . . I just picked up a box - I'll let you know how they are.

Andi-

I don't know what you read-but in my experience-long walks at a moderate pace didn't help me lose weight at all. In 2004 I spent 9 months training for a marathon (walking). Even though by the end I was walking 30-40 miles a week (hours and hours!), I only lost about 5 lbs that whole time. I did drop a pant size though. However, I didn't worry about what I ate at all.

I didn't do the marathon this year and am debating about next year. The training class starts the end of January. I've lost almost 50lbs with pretty much no exercise. I already know what happens with exercise alone. I must say-I wonder what doing the training and LAWL would accomplish on the scale. It's a big commitment, but the people involved are so amazing. I can't decide. The biggest obstacle is the early morning Saturday walks-I really enjoy my lazy Saturday mornings! Then again-those lazy Saturdays probably contributed to my giant butt!

Andi - I remember while on Michael Thrumans plan, he discussed exercising at a slower pace in order to burn stored body fat. Since then, this has been thought to be hogwash. Activity burns calories and so they say, the faster the better. For a long time I was sure not to go to fast, in fear that I wouldn't get all that 'stored' body fat...... But you know those 'rules' change so often - how are we suppose to keep up.

shennie, say goodbye to lemon 2x a day!

Ok, I weighed in at 174.5 this morning. I don't know if that will stick, but it was after 1 day of being faithful to the plan after all the off-plan eating I have been doing lately. It is a miracle I have not gained any weight back, but hubby says it is because I eat so heatlhy on lawl my body was able to process better. Who knows, because he's a computer engineer...not a people engineer. I told my sister I gorged at her house so horribly, but she told me I just ate off plan foods in moderation. Here's hoping lawl is a permanent solution for me AND that I keep that 2.5 lbs off.

It’s too cold to snow here. The high for the day is 14. but by next week we will have a heat wave. We’ll be in the 40’s
Julie~ I have never found the lemon Lunas, and I really think I would like them. The lemon lites leave an after taste of those lemon sandwich cookies. So that’s would I would say they taste most like. (The filling of course, not the cookie part :) ) you are right at the 170’s Way To Go!

Juliemarie – I’d be curious to see what marathon training and diet would do. I lost about 20 lbs about 3 years ago by walking 3 miles at least 3 times per week. I didn’t watch my diet then either. Imagine if I had…

Actually, I read the exercise info in a book I bought, let's see, 11 years ago:p when I was pregnant with youngest DD. It was called "Bye Bye Babyfat" and it espoused counting fat grams and weight loss walking. Now, I was nursing, so I know that helped. However, I dropped ALL of my pregnancy weight plus 10 pounds by my six week check-up - a total of 45 pounds. It impressed my doctor so much that he began recommending it to his OB patients.

Since then, I have read all of the new info and have since quit that program (obviously regained that baby weight, too!:( ). I work out vigorously and I know that no one recommends moderate workouts. Still, it worked!

I still think the "nursing" diet was what worked best for me! I could eat whatever I wanted and maintain my weight in the low 150's. I just don't think "the girls" could take it anymore!

Shennie - I know what you mean about the tree decorating! I had to keep reminding the kids that the back of the tree needed ornaments too! They want to group everything in the middle front of the tree. I have since "rearranged" a little bit!:)

Juliemarie - your experience reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend of mine last night. She is thinking about training for another marathon but then said, "I would run 20 miles in one day and then come home and eat 12 tamales. I didn't lose a pound. I ran that marathon at 175 pounds." It is so easy for me to out-eat my exercise!!

Katie - DD is doing okay, just not too interested in weight loss right now. She weighed herself this morning and packed a Carb Craver PB&J sandwich for lunch. We didn't make it to the COD last Saturday due to Band for her, but we'll go this next weekend. I'm just trying to be a supportive mom, sweet and saying very little!:D

Julie - let's hear it for chocolate frosting!! I can eat a can by myself!:dizzy: Of course, I don't do that anymore. However, a friend of mine gave me a quicky fudge recipe that calls for a can of frosting (any flavor) and a bag of chips (any flavor). You melt the two together and then pour into an 8" pan and let harden. We make this a lot and its pretty good. DD loves peanut butter chips with vanilla frosting - but me and youngest DD love the chocolate!

Wonder why clicking on the smilies doesn't work for me?

Article on Weighing Daily

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I found this article on AOL's diet and fitness section. I found it very interesting.

In the bathroom, locker room and even at the doctor's office, most adults cringe at the sight of a scale. But it might actually be a dieter's best friend, according to new findings.

Over a two-year period, adults who self-weighed daily actually lost more weight than adults who shied away from the scales. In fact, daily weighers lost twice as much as those who only measured weekly, according to the University of Minnesota study.

Adults often have a better gauge on their cars than on their bodies, says Michael D. Ozner, author of 'The Miami Mediterranean Diet.' While it's easy to tell when your car needs a fill-up, monitoring weight comes less easily to many.

"Our fuel gauge should be our bathroom scale," says Ozner. "If we see that we're gaining weight, we don't want to fill up or put more fuel into our system."

The daily approach runs contrary to conventional wisdom about measuring weight, and many health experts discourage frequent trips to the scale because of daily fluctuations that can be discouraging.

What's Your True Weight?
Dawn Jackson Blatner, of the American Dietetic Association, says hormonal changes, salt and carb splurges, and even weather can affect your weight. She recommends using the "4 S's":

· Same time of day, on the
· Same day each week, wearing the
· Same clothing, and using the
· Same scale

Your true weight is a measure of what's happening to your body over time, says Blatner, which is why she recommends a weekly check-in. And if your clothing sizes differ from friends of similar weight, remember that your body type predetermines how and where your weight is distributed. You can just thank Mom for that.

Any news on Wedding plans?

Ok, I never watch this show but the title drew me in. Unfortunately, I only saw the last 5 min: Maury - My 5 year old weighs 212 lbs and I need help!

Can you believe there is a 5 year old out there who outweighs me, a grown and overweight adult? They had numerous kids on, but he was the worst by far. My son is big, but he is height weight proportionate. It makes me sick that these parents are feeding these kids that much food. You CAN control how much an 18 month old eats. You can't make a kid eat food, but you can keep from giving them chips all day and sticking root beer in baby bottles for them (some of the stuff these people did).

Shennie, right behind you on wishing I had Star's exercise momentum.

I did a variation on my blueberry cobbler. I micro'd 3/4 cup frozen blueberries, added sweetener, then crumbled in 1 frozen blueberry pancake (90 calories...got it in freezer section of walmart). Topped with ffsf whipped cream. Delicious. I know the pancake isn't in the food guide, but I don't have to answer to COD so I don't care. It is definitely less cal. than a bagel still.

This may sound vain, but I have caught myself in mirrors the past couple days and just had to stare. I'm SHRINKING! I am just so shocked to be actually seeing something different in the mirror, because I've only really been able to see my loss in clothes so far.

Mary - I saw somethng about the obese little kids in one of the tabloid mags -
Those mothers should know better. I really feel sorry for the kids when they have to go to kindergarden.....

What is this blueberry cult you chicks are starting? I'm gonna have to jump on as soon as I get fruit back - it sounds too wonderful...

Mary - So you think your hot now, checking yourself in the mirror. Don't feel bad - we've probably all been there/done that before (and hopefully will do it again soon). It feels great to see the difference after all the hard work...:carrot:

Mary~ i am with you about children who weigh 200 lbs, even 75 lbs.

There is a lady at church who has a soon to be one year old that is soo overweight. She is a cutie, and she is one of sweetest babies, I have never even heard her cry. but it bothers me that they feed her like that. she won't sleep without cereal in her bottle because she has had cereal since she was 2 months old!

Her mother is overweight and doesn't think that it is a problem. She says she is "big, black and beautiful" :) and I think that is fine for her to make that choice as an adult but don't force it onto your child.

marbear
12-06-2005, 05:39 PM
I agree on letting your child make that decision later. I swear I've heard medical research that says overweight kids have more fat cells and will find it harder to lose weight as an adult. Cereal at 2 mos? DH got cereal at 3 days. He was eating a cup of grits and eggs at 5 mos for breakfast, so hey. He always maintained weigh well until he quit sports. After that, his lifestyle wasn't keeping up with his food intake and he is now 280 lbs. He has no off switch, I swear.

Now I have to pick up DH at moms. He had a colonoscopy today (no pollips) and stepdad was his driver. I just have to honk for him from outside, as to avoid the dinner table and force feeding at moms house:lol:

I have to agree with you guys about the children weighing so much. I once lived next to a young mother who pretty much spoiled her daughter rotten and gave her whatever she wanted. now i am not sure what she looks like now but i know about 5 years ago she was probably 10 or so and she was a much larger child. but hey what can you say about it?!

i went shopping today for a top to go with the new pants i got yesterday for the cruise. i got this cut halter top from Lane Bryant. I look hot, now if I could just see the weight loss in the mirror or the scale i would be happier.

i think that i am going to have to try that Blueberry treat you all are talking about, it sounds great.

i am signed up to get emails from SOuth beach diet.com or something like that, i signed up when i tried that program out and they send different recipes in the email. today i got one for Egg Nog here it is.....

Gosh, All of you girls are doing great!!! And during the holidays, no less! Good for you!

I always think I'm too mean and strict with my son, ( don't even give him juice in his cup, either milk or water) until I read something like that. I mean, I do give him treats, and he has eaten candy and even an ice cream cone, but mostly I want him to get into a good habit of eating veggies and fruits and not drinking sugary drinks. I don't want him to have the same weight/eating issues I do when he gets older.

Anyway, keep it up, you all!!

Well ladies, I went to the COD for the first time in a week:p Last week I gained 2 lbs, this week I lost 1.5 lbs....can't complain. On a really happy note, last night I was able to get into (actually look good, not just sausaged in) a couple of holiday outfits that haven't seen daylight in years.... (I take that back, we moved a couple of years ago:D ) Happiness rained in the household!

I have to tell you that I have spent the past 2 hours reading throught the posts since the 1st. You guys kill me! I still can't get over the 'cheating with the lites'. :joker: At least you aren't cheating with an entire pizza (12' thin crust....can't stop because I have already gone past the allowable 2 pieces...:moo:

I haven't TO'd since I started. I found a website that tells where the nearest store that sells Knudsens http://www.knudsenjuices.com/, but I am not sure which juice I am supposed to buy. Can you help me out?

Just wanted to say thank you to all of you that keep me going! And...thank you to my bathroom scale god....it appreciates me more than the COD scale... My scales says 15.5 lbs and COD says 8 lbs. How can it be THAT different? Of course, I do weigh myself at the same time each day at home, where the COD is at the mercy of my schedule...and then there is the clothes...vs none. OK, I guess I answered my own question.

I have been trying to talk myself into exercising again. I did REALLY well for 6 weeks earlier in the year. 6 days a week...but I didn't lose any weight, got discouraged and quit. I know that if I do LAWL and exercise it should really help, but I can't seem to get myself going... I guess it will happen in good time...when I am ready.

Destiny, I know I am pathetic, but thank God it is winter and I am too lazy to go outside in the cold, because there is a gas station on the corner thqat I raided all summer and believe me they have nothing close to lites there.

Plus the first thing I learned with LAWL is that I don't have much will power and if I bring the ice cream, crackers or expecially something Off Plan, I can't stop myself. I ate a box of ritz crackers in one afternoon and that was it for me, I don't buy anything anymore that i can't say no too. :^:

Mary~ sorry to hear that about your DH, but that shows us how important it is to not hamr our children like that.

Good morning, chicks!

I'm on that blueberry train - for breakfast I had Kashi, vanilla yogurt and frozen blueberries - taste wise it was good, but I should have thawed the blueberries first!:dizzy: The next time.

About overweight kids - one of the things the nutrionist told me - we basically have two periods in our lives when we ADD fat cells - one is in infancy, and I believe the second time is when we're about 9-10 - probably pre-puberty. So depending on what we're fed at those times makes a big difference in how many fat cells we have - and we never get rid of them! They just grow or shrink. .

Ha, Carmen - I know why your cold wasn't so bad - BLUEBERRIES! They are the 'new' powerhouse food, right?

Mary - I used to be a Maury fan (Who's your Daddy;) )- and then they changed the time he was on here - WTG on the vanity, girl - sometimes I think it has to start with us! Isn't your DH also battling thryoid? That's not helping with the weight, either?

Dawn, that eggnog sounds great - how'd you count it? A dairy and 1/2 P for 1 cup?

Star - how'd you do last night?

Applegirl - those things *should* be treats - not part of the daily diet, I guess?

Destiny - I've been having fun shopping in my closet, too -- I'm hoping that the 14's will fit in the next 5-7 pounds. . I'm so pear shaped, that the pants size always is bigger than the top size.

Juliemarie - I did the Avon 3 day about 5 years ago, and was following WW then, too - and I didn't lose nearly as much weight as I thought I should have - I probably should have been eating my APs. . .

Andi - I used to put partially used cans of frosting in the freezer - otherwise, I OD'd on it - actually, the last few times I've bought one, I've just tossed the rest, although after I take 1 spoonful. (just like in Mary Poppins - a spoonful of sugar.. .) Did find a quasi-cake recipe in a magazine that used something like vanilla wafers 'glued' together with chocolate frosting and shaped into a ring. . .Saw an ad recently, too - for swirled chips - like choc and pb together? I've been afraid to look in the baking aisle.

Shennie - you are doing FAB! Thanks for the info on the lemon - I think I'll hold out and see if they get the new flavors that Angel was mentioning.

Bre - are you so relaxed with the yoga that you're not online?

Hey to everyone else!

Good Morning Ladies!

Star, I have put the wedding plans on hold until after the holidays. I can't keep up with all of it at once. DFI did surprise me about two weeks ago and wanted to go pick out our wedding bands. I picked out a nice 1/2 carat wrap, and he just wanted a simple gold band. Mine had to be sized, but we have already picked it up. :) My 1/2 carat round solitaire looks real nice with the wrap. I looked at almost every band and set they had. This wrap and a simple thin gold band is all that looked right on my hand with my solitaire. I didn't like any of the sets. If I would have gotten a set, I would have had to give up my solitaire... Oh well, I have been eyeing this wrap for awhile so now I have it!

Hi All!
Well, finished TO last night, with a bang. A bang being 3 slices of cheese pizza from Pizza Hut. Oh well. One of my biggest battles since I started this diet is that I am an emotional eater, and I am having a tough time these last few weeks. I think that it shows on the scale. I don't usually cheat big, but little bits here, there, everywhere. I can't seem to get past 188 no matter what I do. I am going to go to COD of on Friday, can't today because of a flat tire, not to mention that it is 20 degrees below zero with the windchill this morning. I am going to insist that they change my plan. I might even get naughty with them if I have to!!

Congrats to all of the losers!!

DF looks too much like dear friend. DFIL would be my father-in-law. Actually, I only have a XFIL. My finance's father passed away last January due to liver cancer that started as lung cancer so I won't have another DFIL unless I remarry again... I don't plan on marrying a third time, I think twice is enough...

marbear
12-07-2005, 10:57 AM
Once is enough for me - I don't think I could handle TWO EMILs

Julie-I just can't handle Maury's babymamadrama. I like it when he has fat babies or dwarfs on the show (I hope that is the right term), though.

Ok, new dessert for you guys to try. 1/2 chopped banana (frozen or nuked...depending on what mude you are in) mixed with 1 TBSP peanut butter and topped with 1 TBSP of frozen cool whip lite. Parfait, baby. Today I am going to chop the banana, freeze it, then heat the peanut butter so it is like a hot fudge sauce. YUM! I'm in a dessert mood. I had our LAWL version of blueberry cobbler for breakfast.

I was at 176.5 this morning. That is downward motion, and I am not surprised my weight jumped up 2 lbs from yesterday. I started having diarrhea (TMI) last night, and that usually makes me retain water until its over. Also, I didn't get all my H20 in because we are running low in the house and I was conserving.

I had plans to go Christmas shopping today and make a big dent in it. However, DH called and wants to go with me. I ADORE being with him, but shopping with him usually means LUNCH and then not much stuff being bought. He can't just eat on the fly, he wants to go sit down and visit with each other. Now, I'm not complaining. He is going out of town on a deer hunt and I'm thrilled about some time together. So....I'll just have to do most of it when he is out-of-town!:p

Those of you who cheat on Lites - what is wrong with you???:dizzy: Actually, I'm a little envious. I wish that I had liked them. They tasted wierd to me and felt funny on my teeth. Perhaps with the new bars, I might re-visit the whole idea after the first of the year.

Hope everyone has a great OP day.

The home scale is fluctuating like crazy right now. Don't know what I may have done to cause it, but today is going to be a water - fest. I feel like I may be retaining (oh yeah I remember...beef...it's "what was for dinner" last night, plus I missed 2 fruits). I'd love to move the big ticker again, so today will be an ultra light day for me. I am supposed to go to the COD tonight, so I guess I will. I don't wanna go there and be up.

Beanie - There you are. I am so sorry you are not feeling well. When I have stomach problems I can't eat OP. The dairy and veggies and fruit - fagetaboutit. I hope you are feeling more like yourself soon.

Andi - Enjoy "shopping!"

Mary - The parfait sounds interesting. Never had melted PB before. Its probably really good :hungry:.

Metal - Congrats on picking out your set. Post a pic when you can - I'll bet its gorgeous.

Destiny - WTG on getting right back in the saddle. I am glad the gain was not too bad.

Angel - I'm with you...:hat:.

Shennie - DFI = DFIL? SICK!!!!! about the fish oil.

Repo - Hang in there chickie. I think TO probably still worked its magic for you.

Julie - Interesting information on the pre-pubescent fat cells. Definitely worth noting...thank you! Blueberries rule, I plan to have them for dessert tonight.

Apple - The fact that you have concerns about how well you're doing with your DS is the first indication that you are a good mom. In my opinion, the bad moms are the ones who either think they know it all (and therefore have nothing to learn), or the ones who just don't care.
